Forty-three years after the shuttering of Babcock & Wilcox’s Wilmington plant, former employees are gathering for a reunion—August 29th at 4 PM at Golden Corral on New Centre Drive. Once a major employer of over 1,200 workers, the company built boilers for power plants, factories, and even Navy ships like the Battleship North Carolina. They also gave back to the community by donating land for a school playground in 1962.
