- 7:31of Ozempic's rise is rooted in a remarkable history
- 7:34of venomous science. David Mendoza, diagnosed
- 7:39with type 2 diabetes in 1994, struggled with
- 7:43obesity, weighing over 300 pounds. In 2006, he
- 7:49discovered Bayetta, an injectable medication
- 7:52that helped manage his diabetes and appetite,
- 7:55resulting in significant weight loss. This paved
- 7:59the way for medications like Ozempic, which are
- 8:02derived from GLP -1, a gut hormone that promotes
- 8:06insulin release and enhances feelings of fullness.
- 8:10As research on these medications progresses,
- 8:14a new oral treatment is also on the horizon.
- 8:17The Gila Monster's venom surprisingly opened
- 8:20doors to revolutionary diabetes treatments. In
- 8:25business news, the benchmark 10 -year Treasury
- 8:29yield rose after the Federal Reserve cut rates.
- 8:34United States stocks ended the week at fresh
- 8:36record highs on Friday. But the sustainability
- 8:39of the rally now likely hinges on the 10 -year
- 8:42treasury yield, according to Ron Albaheri, Chief
- 8:46Investment Officer at Laird Norton Weatherby.
- 8:50The S &P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and
- 8:54NASDAQ indexes all closed at new highs. Albaheri
- 8:58believes the bull market needs tame 10 -year
- 9:01treasury yields and the bond vigilance to stay
- 9:05at bay. He expressed concerns about potential
- 9:08Fed interference by the Trump administration.
- 9:12In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down half a percent
- 9:16over the weekend to about $115 ,000. Ethereum
- 9:22is down 6 % to just over $4 ,300. And XRP is

- 10:21Let's talk tech. Jury selection will begin on
- 10:25Monday to determine if Amazon illegally tricked
- 10:28customers into paying for prime benefits. in
- 10:32the first of two major lawsuits from the Federal
- 10:35Trade Commission. This case alleges that Amazon
- 10:38misled consumers about the sign -up and cancellation
- 10:41process, violating Section 5 of the Federal Trade
- 10:44Commission Act and the Restore Online Shoppers
- 10:47Confidence Act. The Federal Trade Commission
- 10:50claims Amazon used dark patterns to enroll customers
- 10:54without their clear consent and made cancellation
- 10:57difficult. Amazon has denied these allegations,
- 11:01stating that customers enjoy Prime and the sign
- 11:04-up and cancellation processes are clear. The
- 11:08government recently won a ruling against Amazon
- 11:10regarding billing information and in entertainment
- 11:16news. One battle after another is a thrilling
- 11:20action movie that runs nearly three hours, delivering
- 11:24breathless, barnstorming mayhem. Directed by
- 11:28Paul Thomas Anderson, the film features a career
- 11:31-high performance from Leonardo DiCaprio, who
- 11:34plays Bob Ferguson. With a budget of $175 million,
- 11:41this ambitious project adapts the Thomas Pinken
- 11:44novel, Vineland. Set in an alternative reality,
- 11:49the film critiques political issues while exploring
- 11:51complex family dynamics. While Sean Penn's portrayal
- 11:56of the psychotic Colonel is amusing, it risks
- 11:59becoming cartoonish. Overall, this film is likely
- 12:03a strong contender for best picture. Well, all
- 12:07righty, folks. It's time for the quote of the
- 12:10day. And today, our quote comes from the American
- 12:14civil rights leader and activist, Frederick Douglass.
- 12:19And he said, This sentiment underscores the enduring
- 12:26fight for justice and equality, as exemplified
- 12:29by the Emancipation Proclamation, and reminds
- 12:32us that meaningful change often requires perseverance
- 12:36and resilience. And that's a wrap for this morning.
