- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, welcome back.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: It's been from Analytics.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is your host Ekka and I am really excited about this episode because as all of you know I am my originally I'm Indian and my family's from India and I'm a huge believer in all of the wonderful things that have come from that geographical region when it comes to not only you know healthcare and and the things that we utilize now in medicine, but also when you look at skincare, there's a lot of incorporation and things like Ayurveda being incorporated and the wonderful things that we've derived from that region.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And so this episode is very near and dear to my heart, and I'm very excited to introduce you to our guest who's really kind of spearheading the movement to create more positivity and more understanding, really, around this.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: So without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to Garima Alualia, who's the founder and CEO of Jolly Beauty.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Welcome, Garima.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I'm so honored to host you.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Same here, I think.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I'm such a big fan of your uh your work, and I love hearing from other beauty founders and entrepreneurs who are making a difference in the space on your podcast.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: So it's it's a pleasure to be here, and I cannot wait to get into it.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I'm so excited, and I feel like this conversation that we're gonna have today has been long overdue, and I I couldn't think of a better person to have it with.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I want to get started, Greem, if you could tell us a little bit about you and your work and and Jolly and you know, just how did it all start?
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Where did you?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, I so I I've sort of I I grew up in India and I moved here in my uh 20s.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Um, and and I grew up, you know, relying on um Ayurveda, which I didn't even know at the time.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Um I didn't realize because a lot of that knowledge is like handed down from grandmothers and moms and dads and like people in in your in your social circle.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And you don't even think about it.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: You don't even think about it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And it's only when I started missing those treatments that I did I realize the importance of Ayurveda that like seeps through our lives and and how important it is to uh rely on clean ingredients, not not just for external application, but also for internal consumption and how far they can take you in maintaining a good health and life overall.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: So that's really my inspiration behind building this movement.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: I myself, like my most of my professional career has been focused on beauty and e-commerce.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: I have a long line of you know big corporation experience at Amazon CBS Health, um Lululemon.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: And so for me, beauty e-commerce is sort of like where my passion and love lies.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: And what we're trying to do, what I'm trying to do is like take that and then marry that with something that I feel deeply, deeply passionate about, which is nature-derived benefits based on Ayurveda science and create somewhat of a movement.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Because like in my last decade or so, the more I've talked to people, the more I've realized and understood that not everyone understands what Ayurveda is.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Like within the South Asian circle as well, but even beyond, I think the world doesn't really know the Ayurveda the way that I know it.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: And even I don't know the full depth because like I'm not an Ayurveda doctor or practitioner.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: So it's been my personal mission to know more and more about the science, and I feel like the world could benefit from it.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: No, and I love that you come from this background of like really being in the space and understanding like how this beauty industry works.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Because the thing is, you know, Greenma, I and I know that we've talked before, and you can relate to this, is that I've always, as a consumer, had a major problem with the way that things like we're talking about Ayurveda, so I'll keep using that as the example, like how it's portrayed, you know, and it's and the reason is because people don't seem to know that with Ayurveda, there are whole people have PhDs in Ayurveda.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Like it's not just like a, you know what I mean?
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Like it's not just like a thing that you just pick it up and you think that you know it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: No, you have to like study it.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Like it's a real science, and and there's so much knowledge there that like, you know, people have full-blown PhDs in this field and they know and they they've used it, they've experimented, they do trials and studies.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And so I think for me as a consumer, when I look at it, right, even though I am South Asian, I look at it and I say, why are we not treating this in beautiful contribution that you know the South Asian community has given to us, you know, in the beauty community, why are we not treating it with more diligence, in my opinion, you know, and that's where I get as a consumer a little kind of confused, you know, because it's it's not a buzzword, you know?
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm so I'm so glad that you say that because it is so so true.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Like I myself, like when I so several I I grew up in Kerala, which some you know, which most believe is the birthplace of Ayurveda, but in in any case, like there are Ayurveda hospitals in across the country, across India, especially in the southern part of India.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And there are hospitals that are treating everything from liver disease to skin disease to um cognitive degeneration, everything there is an Ayurveda hospital, there are doctors, they have PhDs, they have degrees, and they're practicing, there are clinical trials, there are panel studies.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And I feel like all of that, even for me, as someone who grew up in the country, did not know about until I was old enough, or until like I started becoming curious about this topic, until I met someone who knew someone who was an Ayurvedic doctor.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So I feel like that is that part, and I I don't know what it is, like why it's not talked about.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: I feel like Ayurveda has had this bad, not bad rap, but this like old-fashioned uh reputation that that is so far from the reality.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: And I, as someone who believes in the science and who understands that it's actually science and not just some voodoo magic, um, I really want people to understand and embrace Ayurveda for all the goodness, because it's not just like someone sitting in a corner with some test tubes and extracting herbs.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: There's actually like a whole scientific philosophy that are there is very deep and thorough literature.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Um, that's that's 5,000 year old.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And since then it has been refined and reviewed and it reiterated by so many doctors that come across that literature.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: So it's like it's it's so deep and it's so like it took me a while to like realize how how deep the literature is, how how rich it is, and and how much work has gone into it.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: And and since then I've just been more and more curious.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I I buy those books from Amazon.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: I've been going back and forth to India to identify uh places where where this information exists, and I've like become so hungry to learn more and more about this science myself.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And I couldn't agree with you more.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, what's interesting what you said is that it is such a deep level of understanding and uh such an intricate field, you know, because uh when we think about you know plants and herbs, and for all the listeners out there, you know, uh just to explain a little bit, you know, when we think about these like really ancient eastern remedies and these uh wonderful things that we know from uh you know those geographical areas.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously India is really at the center of a lot of it, you know, but even in general, eastern um geographical regions have always been very rich in terms of like the soil and the nutrients available for plants to grow.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And you know, for many centuries it's been like that.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: And what has resulted is a really a powerhouse of you know medicinal potential.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: That's what's happened there, you know, in that area.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And so when we look at things like Ayurveda, when we look at areas of study like Ayurveda, we have to understand that it's not about just extracting a plant and then mixing it up in your kitchen.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: And exactly what you were saying, very much like, you know, there's actual doctors that utilize these wonderful, wonderful pieces of information and they it's real application that has true potential to heal many ailments, you know?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: And that's another thing is like, you know, right now, and I don't know if you've noticed this, we have this huge buzz around, for example, clean beauty and green beauty, but I want to see where is the real like movement around all of what we're talking about here, you know?
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And I think you and I had discussed this, you had brought this up and you had said, you know, um, Ikta, like what about iBeauty?
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, I remember we had connected about that.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And I'd love for you to speak to us a little bit about iBeauty and how do you see it?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And what are you trying to do with Jolly to make you know iBauty a thing?
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think iBeauty is is just I I don't know if it's a term, it's something that we very intentionally sort of started using as we were creating awareness about our business uh for our customers because I feel like it's a lot more relatable to the non-South Asian population to hear it as iBeauty.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: It's more memorable, it's more catchy.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, but it's simply it stands for India-inspired beauty, and that could mean a lot of things.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Like there is a certain vertical of beauty products that are sort of now increasingly catering to brown skin.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and and I don't mean that just like in terms of foundation or makeup or uh you know lip shades that suit brown skin, but it's also about like how do you treat ailments and skin conditions for melanated skin.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: We know from various studies, and you know this probably better than I do, that uh melanated skin scars differently, heals differently, our skin uh dries differently, and it's it's a lot more drier than than different some other skin tones.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So the level of melanin in skin really, really um governs how different uh conditions are solved.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And and I think like there's there's a bunch of now brands that are doing great things in that space and and which is so so much needed.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: And I think like that up until now has not been really spoken about.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Um and now that the brands are there, I think the next step is to create that kind of retail environment that can help streamline and amplify the voice of those brands to the customers.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: So I think that's that's one way in which Choli Beauty is trying to amplify the message of iBeauty and help in our own small way um make iBeauty the same global or national phenomenon as K-beauty or J Beauty.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: And I feel like there is so much more to there's so much more work that we can do, and and we're we're taking baby steps and we're always working uh on this mission.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: So there's one vertical which is focused on beauty that's that understands melanated skin.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Then there's this other vertical of Ayurveda, because that's skin tone agnostic.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: That's more about like how do you take medicinal herbs that exist in nature and and layer them specifically, extract them in a unique way.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Because like Ayurveda, we talked about this a little bit, and and you you summarized beautifully, but there's also this like nuance of like Ayurveda as a term is not regulated, unfortunately.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: So anyone can put like one or two buzzy ingredients like turmeric or saffron in their product and say and call themselves Ayurveda inspired.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: We see that from down from like$10 skincare products selling on Amazon to$110 skincare products selling, you know, on D2C sites.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: So it's really not regulated.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: And so what we're sort of also taking on as a secondary mission is to amplify and educate people on what Ayurveda is, because it's not just ingredients, it's the science of layering them synergistically.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: It's the science of extracting them in a way that keeps components and molecules stabilized so that when they deliver treatment in a certain dose, the treatment itself is very impactful without being harsh.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: So, in a true Ayurveda formula, uh you don't really need too many actives, you you shouldn't need too many preservatives because all of that is is accounted for in the science of formulation of Ayurveda.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: So that's the secondary philosophy or mission that we've sort of adopted over time, uh, because we felt a strong need for it.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: So that's how we're we're sort of like trying to amplify the mission and voice of eye beauty.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: I really love that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And I think what you said is so brilliant because you know it's interesting.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Uh the last point that you made is that this whole idea of like you don't need all these preservatives, because I was talking to somebody, and I believe that for skincare anarchy, we also made an education post about this, and I want to say this for all the listeners out there is one thing that has been kind of on my mind about, you know, this whole green beauty and all this movement of our around natural beauty and clean beauty is that we don't understand as consumers that in nature, when things happen and they're created, like certain molecules, certain chemicals, they're created over a very long period of time.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: It's actual evolution that has created them.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: So for us to then extract those ingredients and those chemicals and utilize them, we're extracting an entire system.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: We're not just extracting individual molecules.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: And that's something I don't hear anyone talking about.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And that's where I think Ayurveda for me also shines because Ayurveda does talk about that in a way that no other category of beauty does.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And so that's why I think it's important to raise this awareness, is that it's not just about, okay, cool, you know that mint and you know, eucalyptus and turmeric and all of these wonderful ingredients can do these things.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's not it.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: It's more about these certain herbs and plants have come from a long history of evolution.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: And now they have created and stabilized the compounds that exist within them.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: And we can then use those compounds in a very medicinal way.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And so that's where I think, you know, one point you made really stood out to me was the idea that it's not just about Indian beauty.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: It's not about that.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: It's Indian inspired.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: And so a lot of brands I'm seeing, there's a lot of brands out here that brands that are doing it right and a lot of brands that are doing it wrong.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: And you don't have to be a South Asian founder to really incorporate Ayurveda, but you do have to say, you have to stay true to the message.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: You have to stay true to the science.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: And that's where I think you guys really shine, you know, because you're you're trying to bring that together.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, when we spoke previously, you had explained that to me, that you're trying to bring together a community of people that believe in this, the power of all of this.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: That's something I I really want to focus on, especially because I know brands that are not, they might not be the founders may not be like Indian, right?
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: But they're actually they're on their board, they have like Ayurvedic doctors, you know what I mean?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: PhDs and stuff.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it all comes down to like how committed you are to really understanding what you want to sell, because India inspired could mean so many things.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Some people and some brands are super focused about the aesthetic.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: So, you know, there's like India-inspired prints in beauty products, and you know, there are certain ingredients that are yes more native to the Indian subcontinent, um, like Amla and this and that.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: But like very few, to your point, are really taking the pain and effort to really understand how things are made and how things are layered and how things are extracted, like really getting into the science of it and not just the buzzy nature of Ayurveda that it is that it is today.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think like that, that's also something that we're very, very focused on.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: We're working with brands, we're working with customers.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, we're constant, constantly doing customer surveys.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're talking to people who have transacted on our site, and we've talked, we're talking to people who have never transacted on our site, and we're trying to understand what their interpretation is.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: What do they need more information on?
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: What is it that influences them when they make a buying decision and and how much of it is really informed by what's real and what's not.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: So that's like also a very integral part of the work we're doing on a day-to-day basis is to like really bring data and information, concrete data, information and facts and analytics behind how we sort of like drive traffic or how we serve up Ayurveda or iBeauty to the customer in a way that it actually satiates them for what they're looking for.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: That makes a lot of sense.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: I really like that.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: And I think that, you know, one of my biggest questions, I want to get your opinion on this, is what do you think it's going to take from us, and not only as an industry, right?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Of people and and the brands and the wonderful founders in our industry, but also as consumers to bring iBeauty to the level that we see K-beauty, you know, and like for example, J Beauty, as you had mentioned.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: What do you think we need it?
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: To get this going.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to the founders and to the people who are sort of like introducing, taking on the taking on the burden to introduce the world with these beautiful South Asian-inspired formulations or ingredients.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: I think like being more accountable and responsible in making sure that the formulations are presented with the right integrity and not just taking shortcuts.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Like as founders, as the early founders of this beauty movement, we have to make sure that the customer sees South Asian-inspired beauty or India-inspired beauty or Ayurveda beauty, whatever you call it, sees it as what it's supposed to be.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: And then the next layer of really uh taking it to the national level is like retailers or or sellers like us to really channel that information uh in more digestible format, in more um, in more engagement-driven formats to make sure that the customers enjoy receiving that information about these products.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: So it's like it's it's three-pronged.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Like you have to, you have to have the great quality formulations and products to start with.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: That's a non-negotiable.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: And then the retailers have to sort of like bubble it up and serve it to the customer so they can see the entire ecosystem.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Right now, we talked to a hundred South Asian customers recently, and and all of them have heard of one or two South Asian brands.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: So even they are not fully aware of all the beauty brands that are sort of India inspired or Ayurveda inspired.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: They're not aware of all of those.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: So, how do you so that's again like a mission that sort of really we are owning and we're taking on is like how do we curate that selection?
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: How do we bring on some amazing brands onto our marketplace so that the customer can discover them in one place?
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Um, the third is reviews, like a lot of the reviews from the products that we see like don't really have a lot of South Asian representation in them.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So, like as a South Asian person, when I'm looking at a beauty product, I don't know if this review, like if this product worked for uh Caucasian skin, I don't know if that's also going to work for me.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Um so like really reflecting a like diversity in the review generation process is also very important for us.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: So I think there are a few ways in which we're sort of helping people figure out what products will work for them and also help them discover them all in one place.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Um so I think all of that is very important.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: We're we're constantly talking to the customers and working backwards from what we think they're looking for.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we're right and sometimes we're not right, but as time goes, we're we're more right than we're not.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: So I think I think that's um as a as a new marketplace, new retail store, I think that's that's a very interesting process and something that we really take pride in repres representing because it's a big, it's a big responsibility to take iBeauty, take something as iBeauty, which is which is today kind of small, but it's growing.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: And for us to like take on that responsibility to represent it in a unique, accessible way.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: So like you'll see like our site, everything like from the branding and how we present our products, colors we use, we're we're trying to anticipate what the customer is looking for based on where they're coming from and what they might think Ayurveda is.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: So if if if our customer surveys revealed Ayurveda is seen as a little bit traditional and old-fashioned, so we're trying to like make it more accessible and fun.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: And that's only in the in the information delivery part, because like Ayurveda can be fun, but can also be very serious.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Um, so so I think it's it's a mix and it's it's you know, all the all the branding and marketing principles one-on-one.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: How do you make sure that the customer can can see the the serious part of Ayurveda, but also have fun with it and by integrating and introducing it in their daily lives.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: And I think that's that's actually you know a brilliant way to approach it.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: And you know, what comes to mind for me also, very myzla, is this idea of you know, we talk about BIPOC uh, you know, beauty and brands and supporting um those brands, right?
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: And and one of the big things I see, and I think a lot of us, and you had touched on this earlier, I think when you made the point about how melanin-rich skin responds differently, you know, and it's a different kind of approach that you have to take, you know, for certain things.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: And I I think one thing I'm seeing is that there's a lot of brands that are founded by many founders of color that uh incorporate Ayurveda and they incorporate um, you know, eye beauty-inspired ingredients and approaches.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: But it's like we're all in these small little bubbles, you know what I mean, everywhere instead of coming together and saying, no, we're here.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Like all of us are here.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: We believe in the power of these ingredients, we believe in the power of understanding that there is a difference between melon and rich skin versus non, and we have to address that, you know what I mean, from a very professional standpoint.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: I think there's a lot of power there, you know.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: And I encourage, I really encourage brands and founders of all different backgrounds, you know, that do know this to come together and support this this movement, you know, and because it's not just about, okay, well, one person, one South Asian brand that's all about we're getting all of our ingredients from South Asia.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: It's not about that.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: It's about let's just understand that these ingredients are coming from this place and what they're doing.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: And and it doesn't matter.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: who you are, but you have to give it you have to give credit where it's due, you know, that kind of thing.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: And in the best way, you know?
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: I I think that's such a such a beautiful you've said it beautifully.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: I think that's so important.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: The power of community is like how do more and more founders come together and and you know march to the same tune.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: At the end, you know, there are there is a subset of beauty businesses that are committed to making the world a more inclusive place for customers who are also people of colors or like you know BIPOC founders or or other founders.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: And the power of community is is I cannot emphasize it enough because we've seen that anytime founders come together, anytime entrepreneurs come together who's sort of building the business, building similar businesses, there is like you know the the amplification that that all businesses get and benefit from is is unmatched.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: And and all of these businesses, let's take Ayurveda or South Asian beauty or iBeauty for example, all the founders are so distinct and are so unique.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: And there is absolutely no conflict of interest.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Like everyone at the end of the day is creating beautiful products that can help customers closely understand iBeauty, Ayurveda.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: And I think there's like a lot of upside in founders and entrepreneurs and businesses sharing learnings and you know figuring out how they can collectively amplify their their their individual businesses as well as the IBUD movement.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: And I think that's where some like and and also like let's to play devil's advocate all these businesses are also like so busy and you know it's running a business is hard.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: And whether you're a small founder, big founder, well funded founder or bootstrap founder, you have a million things to worry about.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: So which is where like you know a marketplace like us can come in and and help create these common programs and marketing opportunities for founders to collaborate and cross cross partner.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: And I think like that's something that we we're trying to also incorporate more and more so that we can like take some of that responsibility off of our founders' plates and and help create like common marketing platforms and programs so that we can collectively amplify um the message of our beauty philosophies.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: I love that I love that I think that's so powerful and I I really really encourage I mean I've interviewed so many brands that are they fit into this category and and they really are doing amazing things and and to have one marketplace and one place to go to shop all of these wonderful products that have you know they're committed to this idea of no we're we want results.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: You know they're most of them are result driven brands they're not you know they're not here for the fluff.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: They're not here just to sell some packaging they're here to really make an impact and and to see I would love to see a lot of those brands come to Jolly Beauty and be there because I personally as a consumer really value that you are creating such a safe you know shopping place for everybody.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: You know, to feel like you like one of my biggest things growing up in America, you know, I was born in India.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: I came here when I was five and one of my biggest pain points growing up in a different culture where there's so many different faces everywhere was that I never knew where I could go to feel like I can buy the things I need to buy.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Without having to like ask a million people can you give me a recommendation and that was a real process for me as a consumer and I know a lot of people can relate to that.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: So it's really important for us to create these like experiences where as a consumer you can you know with confidence go onto the website and to go to something like Jolly Beauty and say I know that the brands that are here are representing something that I believe that I'm looking for.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean on a personal level.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Like yeah like that's where I think that what you're doing is it's absolutely the a how very powerful movement because we we are going to see it very soon I think in this industry that there's going to become a distinction between the brands that are using the same ingredients over and over and over again versus the brands that are really innovating.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: And you know what that's going to be in my opinion that's going to be things like Ayurveda like let's just be honest here you know because there's untapped potential in Ayurveda you know and I I I've talked to brands you know that's what I'm saying that I've spoken to brands who are huge.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: They're huge and they are using these ingredients.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: They're realizing that we need to put these these doctors and these people who understand the science on our board because they're the ones who are going to take our brand to the next level because you're running out of options.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean you're running out of ideas and where are the ideas going to come from so that's where all of this is extremely important especially right now.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: I mean I in my opinion as a consumer I know I'm ranting but like I think Sephora's a great thing you know it's a great place Sephora also all the great big you know retailers we know about but one thing everyone is missing is you're not honing in on the what is it that's making products work.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: What is it that makes them work and actually effective and that's where I see a real white space and I think Jolly Beauty you're doing exactly that you're filling that white space.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah and and I agree I mean I think that there is room for all kinds of retailers and all kinds of marketplaces like there's like these big beauty retailers and and we absolutely love them.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: And there's also room for more curated specialist retailers where people who are looking for something very specific can go and find a bunch of different options and then learn about all these different options and figure out what could be good for them.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Very soon we're also trying to like you know add in some chat functionalities some more where we can have a panel of doctors so that we can like help take on you know the first second level of questions that these customers might have around Ayurveda or iBeauty.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: So so I think like there's there's a lot of upside from an information perspective and also from a product perspective when it comes to iBeauty so possibilities are endless and we're super excited.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah no I'm really excited for you and I really encourage everyone out there listening to like definitely check out Jolly Beauty.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Definitely you know reach out if you guys have questions around things like Ayurveda I think it's just something that you know the more education we can put out the more knowledge we can put out the better educated our whole society is going to be and and we're gonna make better decisions as consumers you know in terms of like the brands that we are really shopping and supporting because it it matters that matters at the end of the day is how much do we know and so I I really applaud you Greenma for creating such a beautiful platform such a safe space for for everyone to really kind of get something from thank you so much for doing what you're doing and I can't wait to see all the great success for Jolly Beauty and and I can't wait to see all the wonderful brands that you guys will stock in the future.
