Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by jing Jack calm fueled by brass tax coffee We are still out here in London getting out a video for y'all today this afternoon That's more about like my top overall takeaways.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: We did earlier today
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: What went wrong in London?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: All the things that I thought were problematic, but right now we're going to get into the top takeaways overall for the Jaguars, for this game and moving forward.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're the Jaguars are at now that the dust has kind of settled on this game.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited again to it.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all be in here.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's all jags all the time.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that hype button.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: So as I mentioned earlier today, weird game with the weather
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: the penalties, which like they weren't like an insane amount of them, the jaguars they'd cut the penalties down, but the timing of the, you know, phantom call on Britain's strange and on Travis Hunter, those were about as backbreaking as they can get just from a.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: not just timing, but setting on the field, the context of where they happened, how those plays impacted the game that was horrible, and then the crowd, like London's got to go, I'm sorry, the Jaguar should not be playing home games in London every year.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, you know, a weird game, very weird game.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: You have another wake-up call at the hand of the Texans.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Two straight years, the last two times the Jaguars have played the Texans.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: It really does feel like a wake-up call kind of game where the Jaguars need to get their ducks in a row in several places across this roster to be able to be the team they want to be.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now, having said both of those things, the Jaguars are fine.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's my biggest takeaway, they're fine.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're foreign too.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: They're still at the top of the AFC South.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: They're still third in the AFC.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: It is incredibly tight though.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: The AFC is super tight right now.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about the standings, the Jaguars are in third place.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: The Chiefs are at five and a.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: The Bills are at 5 and 1.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars at 4 and 2 and 3rd place, but, but, right.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: There are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 teams right now that are 4 and 2.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: 6 teams that are 4 and 2 and 7 teams at 2 losses right now.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Bengals are 3 and 2 at this moment, so you're fine.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: no need to hit the panic button.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of fans want like you know with the big take way the Jaguars need to blow this up, blow that up.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's the case.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: They're four and two and they're in third place in the AFC, they're in first place in the AFC south.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to the division like they're still a good bit ahead, right?
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: The second place team right now is the goal to also have the Texans right there, both of those teams are two and four.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: They have a favorable schedule.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Moving forward, there's no question about that.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have a fairly favorable schedule moving forward as well, though.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguars are foreign to Colts 2 and 4.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Texans 2 and 4 Titans 1 and 5.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're still in a very, very good spot.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: This was a strange game, disappointing game, obviously, in terms of the final result and some of the things that transpired.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the Jaguars are like,
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: It is not panic mode.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: It absolutely should not be panic mode.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: They should have confidence in their ability to clean things up to respond the right way They're going into a by-week here, and then they host a home game against the cults.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: So Not panic mode.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are fine This happens in the NFL, especially when you go to a neutral site game, and it's pretty pretty weird environment overall, but
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I still strongly believe, like, why do I think it's fine?
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I still strongly believe in the Jaguar's offensive infrastructure.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: I strongly believe in the run defense.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I strongly believe in the Jaguar as what they have on special teams.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I think with those three factors,
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: You're in a good spot like the Jaguars, Bacial Tutan has been running incredibly well.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I know his average wasn't great against the Texans, but he did good things and obviously had a touchdown called back.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: He did huge things in the past game in this one.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: For them, Chris Rodriguez really came alive.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think that when you look at Trevor Lawrence, it wasn't a perfect game.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't a clean game for Parker Washington.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: I have every confidence that those two will be able to rebound in a big way and that the offense is going to be in a good spot moving forward.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the Jaguar's run defense has been, basically, I think you can just say that they've been the best in football going back to 2025, I still think that they are.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the Texans have found a way to exploit them a couple times, does that lead to a blueprint for opponents, or is this kind of another one-off, like you saw against the Texans in the second half last year in the Jaguar's fell apart.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I still strongly believe the run defense is very solid.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think Anthony Campanylei is a great defensive coach.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think Liam Cohen is a great offensive coach.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think Keith Four wills great on special teams.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they have a lot of assets on special teams.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: They can help them win football games.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I'm still like in the camp of their just fine.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is nothing to panic about.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: But also think like due trades need to be made.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about the Brian Thomas Jr. one, do they need to trade him, but they just need to have him on the field less.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I feel confident in saying Parker Washington should obviously have way more targets than BTJ and he did.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: He just didn't have a good game.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: He made some great plays, Parker did, right?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: He had some Parker moments, you're like, wow, but also just some
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Uncharacteristic mistakes by Parker in this one, which I'm not worried about moving forward.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was a wet, strange track, strange field, strange game.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that Parker, Jacobi, Britain, and then you get to the next level of guys.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis Hunter can do everything for you and more that Brian Thomas Jr has done.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Nate Borkutcher has been a very reliable target for you.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Josh Cameron has been a very reliable target for you.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's where I'm at, so just BTJ just need a fresh start somewhere.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think the answer is probably I set this point.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he got benched in this game.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they would say that, but didn't play in the second half.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, that is one thing where it's like, okay, does something need to change here.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then also, like, I think the other real question here is a corner, right?
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jarring and Jones, it just hasn't gone his way this year.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's had like some decent moments, couple decent performances overall, but for the most part, it's been pretty, pretty bad for Jarring so far, I mean, especially,
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the last few weeks, this is a corner that in primary coverage so far this year, he is allowed 445 yards, right?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: 445 yards in primary coverage, 13 and a half yards of catch.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: This was definitely his worst game in my opinion.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: He allowed,
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a hundred yards in this game.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: He was also targeted at a ton against Cincinnati.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was much more competitive in that game.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And again, maybe this goes back to the track, or the weird situation in this game.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: But the numbers are the numbers here, and they don't look very favorable for Jari.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: And in my opinion, can he bounce back from this, be a better player for you, maybe?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: You also have, you know, the Monterey Brown.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Jarion is more of a man guy.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: And is he a very good man cover corner?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: The results haven't been strong this year.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously, Buster Brown is more of a zone guy.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Do you need someone else?
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Travis Hunter, I'm, you know, he gave up a long completion in Nico Collins.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: He had the passenger appearance that I thought was a Phantom call.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'd have no problem with Travis Hunter, right?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: But do you need someone else out there?
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think you'd also probably say, you know, I think mostly Jordan Lewis is very good for the Jaguars in the nickel, but I don't think he had a very good game overall against the Texans.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: He slipped on a touchdown, had a couple plays that he gave up, that we're not very encouraging overall.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're really thinking about
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: doing anything there, but, you know, maybe jarring and Jordan needs to just be competing at nickel, maybe Monterey Brown needs a little bit more competition outside, or at least somebody who you think, if you're going to run more man coverage, which the Jaguars have been doing this year, can do that at a higher level.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's a fair question at this point, because it's not about being 13 and 4 or whatever.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's about
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: When you're playing the best teams in the league, when you're playing in the most important games in the season, can you operate and thrive with the group as it's currently constructed?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the question there, right?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: With the corners.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Can you win a playoff game against an elite quarterback with this group the way it's constructed?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't know.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: against the bills in the playoffs.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Travis Hunter wasn't playing in that game and I do think he has upgraded things, but I think across from him, it still just feels very fragile, quite frankly.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: The road ahead.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars road ahead is favorable.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars should still be able to get to eight and three.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I say eight and three because like this next chunk of games for the jags when I look at it it feels very, very favorable now you're going to be away from jacks a lot new slash you're going to be away from jacks a lot the rest of this regular season, but you have the cults in jackson vote following the by week.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: They should win that football game.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: At the Ravens Thursday night after the, after the buy, that's a little bit more difficult just because you're traveling on a short week, against, you know, I know the Ravens aren't setting the world on fire right now, but that's a little bit of a tough one.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: But after that, you have Titans, giants.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I know the chance or we would pluck your team, but you should be able to win that football game and then your verse Titans after that.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, eight and three,
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: should be where they're at.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Then they head into the stretch run and December where they're at the bears.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: They have the Steelers and Monday night football in Jacksonville at Texans at Cowboys, commanders at home and then the Colts.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars should be set up to be right in the thick of things, basically right where they are from a standing standpoint.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: In a month, they should still be
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I still am, you know, if the jag wars have to go on the road and the playoffs, I don't like that right now.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: There's so much better in Jacksonville than they are anywhere else, it's a very clear I've been talking about that for a long time, it's been like a year now where it's just clear that they're better in Jacksonville than they are away from Jacksonville.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: So again, it's like, can you make some moves that potentially help you away from Jacksonville?
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ, not being on the field as much, I think.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe getting another corner could really help you in those regards to be the best you can be in January, to be the best version of yourself in January.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the penalties, again, they were on time laying this one, but they got a lot better in that regard.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it was pretty loud when the Jaguar is off and so on the field, but it wasn't like facing a true
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: it wasn't as loud as it would be like in Cincinnati playing against the Eagles last week in Denver.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Things like that, right?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that's still is remains to be seen in my opinion.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, does the this is a pre-snap operation offensively to the penalties?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: Can they be better against a truly hostile crowd?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I remains to be seen.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: But save in the best for last
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: It means to be on the field.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he's on the field of time on the defensive side of the ball.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's doing great things there in my opinion.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: I know, again, statistically, you give up the big completion of Nico Collins.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: You get the passenger appearance.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't look great.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: But the big completion of Nico, he was very close on that one.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he locked it up after that.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that was like first possession of the game very early, first quarter.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: The passenger appearance was a phantom call.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: He goes and gets you an interception in the end zone, that helps you stay in this football game, have a chance to win it late.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then on the offensive side of the ball, the guy just produces like when you target him, he does really good things for you.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think he needs to be on the field more and more and more is the Jag Worth continued to move along to give them the best chance of winning important football games.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter is a superstar in this league.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's an incredible player, and the Jag Worth need to feature him on both sides of the ball.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's where I'm at.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all of Grim.
