- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. That thing has legs. Huh, I love it
- 0:15Speaker 1: and I'm not talking about the mother's girlfriend. Mi little
- 0:18Speaker 1: light aluminum pint. Have you tried him yet? Of course? Yeah?
- 0:22Speaker 1: And I think nothing question. I think I'm drinking one
- 0:26Speaker 1: right now. What what do you want? Parker must be
- 0:29Speaker 1: like Stanley Morgan and his prime. I can't wait until November.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Paul's like, I was wrong, and I don't want to pas.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I don't want to pick on Paul. It doesn't mean
- 0:37Speaker 1: you're commanding a double team. That's not on the point
- 0:39Speaker 1: I was trying to make though. I'm not trying to say.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I didn't say it was gonna pull. Said he's gonna
- 0:42Speaker 1: have a corner with him, and he's gonna they're gonna
- 0:43Speaker 1: have something to think about with him on the outside.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Can you play it? You're also an Parker will pull
- 0:47Speaker 1: an outside corner and and a little bit of safety. Hell,
- 0:49Speaker 1: perhaps of you know something to think about if you
- 0:51Speaker 1: ever have, you know, ten minutes, go to YouTube and
- 0:54Speaker 1: watch Bobby who are highlight when he goes end to end.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm sorry what I'm a I'm a horse for Bobby Horn. No,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm not saying you'll have to safety. I think they'll
- 1:04Speaker 1: just line someone up on the outside and that'll be
- 1:06Speaker 1: his guy. Okay, great. This is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:18Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium, and we're here for the next two hours.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It's Deuce, it's Paul, it's Matisse joining in, and I
- 1:26Speaker 1: think regular listens the show have been introduced to him before,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but um, he's the draft Guru Draft. I'm back, I'm back,
- 1:32Speaker 1: You're back, and maps in the booth. So the next
- 1:35Speaker 1: Little Stranger Things roundtable. Prior to the show, we all
- 1:39Speaker 1: finished up, so we were free to say whatever we
- 1:42Speaker 1: wanted to say. Yeah, yeah, good season, Yeah, great job.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Kate Bush and Metallica all over the radio. It's this
- 1:47Speaker 1: amazing the influence that this show. Good effort. I love it,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, Yeah, it was good. I think, uh,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I think we're all mostly I don't know how you
- 1:54Speaker 1: felt about the five. It was good, it was good.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I wasn't like I didn't feel like the end was
- 1:59Speaker 1: blown away magical, but I mean it was good. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: had some issues though, I think Almus had some people
- 2:03Speaker 1: some issues. Yeah, I might get up into the A
- 2:06Speaker 1: minus area maybe just I think that episode with Max
- 2:09Speaker 1: and episode four kind of sold it for me that
- 2:11Speaker 1: that was I thought excellent, and maybe it kind of
- 2:14Speaker 1: ran on that steam a little bit. But you know,
- 2:18Speaker 1: get to the end of these shows, it's it's hard
- 2:19Speaker 1: to wrap it up and satisfy everybody, right perfect. You
- 2:23Speaker 1: know you're wondering in how much longer can they go? Uh?
- 2:26Speaker 1: You know, would I know they have another season, but
- 2:29Speaker 1: I kind of hope that's it. Yeah, that's the last one. Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 1: I think I would have liked it better because I
- 2:34Speaker 1: thought they were that's where they were going. They were
- 2:36Speaker 1: wrapping it up, and I think I was prepared for that,
- 2:38Speaker 1: even though I knew at the time, like I already
- 2:40Speaker 1: knew there was going to be a fifth season, Like
- 2:42Speaker 1: how much can you build up to the next the
- 2:44Speaker 1: next season? Couldn't you have just made the big conflict
- 2:47Speaker 1: with Vecna bang a couple more episodes out if you
- 2:49Speaker 1: need to, But are we gonna do a whole other
- 2:51Speaker 1: season of setting up. Yeah, how Vecna is going to
- 2:53Speaker 1: come back? Sorry for anyone who hasn't seen it yet,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but how much more can the town take it? How
- 2:59Speaker 1: much more? What can I do? Anyway? All Right, so
- 3:03Speaker 1: Patriots nikkil Harry, what happened? Oh yeah, it finally happened.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Finally happened. Yeah, well, we had talked about it on
- 3:11Speaker 1: the show a little bit. I mean, I think we
- 3:12Speaker 1: were right in step with they're either going to release
- 3:14Speaker 1: him or maybe maybe a seventh rounder I think was
- 3:16Speaker 1: and that's what they ended up getting for Chicago, who
- 3:18Speaker 1: has no no real receiving weapons, no idea what they
- 3:22Speaker 1: were doing, kind of for Justin Field. So I'm sure
- 3:24Speaker 1: Bears fans are looking at those uh nikkil Harry highlights
- 3:28Speaker 1: in college, and if I was, if this was Bears unfiltered,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'd be like, Okay, he was a bust, but he
- 3:34Speaker 1: was a first round pick. He had production in college.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Let's see what we can do with him. Yeah, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that's that would be my mindset. Yeah, I just I mean,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I've seen some people with a little bit of revisionist history.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I kind of put my Paul hat on a little
- 3:46Speaker 1: bit when I was reading some people be like you know,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I mean, he was really good at the at the
- 3:49Speaker 1: point of the catch point, I'm like, what what were
- 3:52Speaker 1: what were you watching? Like? I saw more like stuff
- 3:55Speaker 1: of him screwing up and saying this was so sad, right,
- 3:57Speaker 1: you know, I mean I think that was what was
- 3:59Speaker 1: most uh disappointing about it, was that, all right, I
- 4:02Speaker 1: get it, he's not he's not a really fast guy,
- 4:04Speaker 1: but he's big, and you know, maybe he can use
- 4:06Speaker 1: that size to his advantage and win some physical matchups,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but he just never was able to do it consistently.
- 4:11Speaker 1: You know, maybe once or twice, but for a lot
- 4:13Speaker 1: of it he's just getting beat out physical by guys interceptions.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I think it was maybe the first or second year
- 4:18Speaker 1: Paul really remembers maybe one specific there's one I can
- 4:21Speaker 1: picture in my mind of just him getting beat to
- 4:23Speaker 1: the spot and the guy. You know, so those things
- 4:26Speaker 1: that we're supposed to be a strength just never never
- 4:28Speaker 1: really were got behind the eight ball with injuries early
- 4:31Speaker 1: on in camp, and I don't even know how much
- 4:33Speaker 1: that really mattered because ultimately it never really flashed. Well,
- 4:37Speaker 1: you know, for him, it's a clean slate and maybe
- 4:41Speaker 1: you know, st an opportunity there with field may better,
- 4:44Speaker 1: maybe he can do better. And they're here too this year,
- 4:48Speaker 1: aren't they? So Halloween Monday Night, the return of Spooky Harry,
- 4:54Speaker 1: Scary Harry, Scary Harry. Yeah. The only thing that I
- 4:57Speaker 1: would give him is the the injury his rookie year.
- 5:01Speaker 1: You know, he gets put behind the eight ball with
- 5:03Speaker 1: training camp, he missed time, took him. You know. I
- 5:07Speaker 1: think it's part of the problem with young guys here,
- 5:09Speaker 1: like so, you know, he had an injury, he missed
- 5:12Speaker 1: some time, and all of a sudden they have to
- 5:14Speaker 1: put him on, like I R and he misses half
- 5:16Speaker 1: the season, Like I don't think it had to be
- 5:17Speaker 1: And and part of that is on Brady, not that
- 5:20Speaker 1: that's just not that's not just the team that you know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: Brady kind of freezes you out if you're not there
- 5:25Speaker 1: right away from him. And I think it was tough
- 5:27Speaker 1: for him. It was an uphill climb from there. But
- 5:30Speaker 1: obviously if he had the ability in the mental toughness,
- 5:33Speaker 1: he would have overcome that. Yeah. I think Brady's thing
- 5:36Speaker 1: was making the same mistakes over and over again. That's
- 5:40Speaker 1: that's the thing. It's like, Okay, you make a mistake,
- 5:42Speaker 1: learned from it, but he was a repeat offender. Yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I think about the play against Kansas City here that
- 5:48Speaker 1: first year that was you know, they incorrectly said he
- 5:51Speaker 1: stepped out of bounds. Not that that would have changed much,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but he just they would have changed Mike. He just
- 5:57Speaker 1: he just couldn't catch a break. It felt like it was, yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: it was make a good catch and get hurt. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 1: there was always something. It's just he could never quite
- 6:05Speaker 1: you know. I think with some of those players, maybe
- 6:06Speaker 1: like Jacoby Myers last year, where you know, we just
- 6:09Speaker 1: started to stack success. As they say, he'd have a
- 6:12Speaker 1: good day and he'd be back out there the next
- 6:13Speaker 1: day and he'd have another good day with a couple
- 6:15Speaker 1: you know, impressive catches, and you know, Harry just seemed
- 6:18Speaker 1: like it was kind of always something. And then last
- 6:20Speaker 1: year when they brought in all those other guys, he
- 6:22Speaker 1: became kind of the blocking wide receiver, somewhat of an afterthought.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But it's a it's a disappointing end. I mean, it
- 6:29Speaker 1: was certainly a huge miss in the draft and and
- 6:32Speaker 1: something that you know, the last few years that has
- 6:35Speaker 1: played a big part I think in their struggles. You know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: had that been a hit at wide receiver. Then you know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: who knows where where things would be right now if
- 6:41Speaker 1: you if you had a legitimate first round wide receiver
- 6:44Speaker 1: on this team that you know, I don't know, could
- 6:46Speaker 1: do everything that there was a big mess. I'll tell
- 6:48Speaker 1: you the guy. When you invest that capital and a
- 6:51Speaker 1: wide receiver, it's got it's gotta work out. I always
- 6:54Speaker 1: ask myself what they saw on him, and I remember
- 6:57Speaker 1: hearing not too long ago that they love Vincent Jackson
- 7:01Speaker 1: at some point like that they always had a thing
- 7:03Speaker 1: for Vincent Jackson. I don't know if you if you
- 7:05Speaker 1: remember that ever hearing that. I remember just hearing that
- 7:07Speaker 1: that though they think he's the best receiver in the
- 7:09Speaker 1: league and that and maybe that's what they thought. I
- 7:11Speaker 1: don't know, I don't remember Vincent Jackson or not. But
- 7:13Speaker 1: a big, big, physical guy, right like you could run
- 7:17Speaker 1: yeah and catch well yeah, I mean those things. I mean,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't know. I it just it was a bad
- 7:25Speaker 1: all around like no need to no need to belabor it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I mean, he's been on the way out for two
- 7:31Speaker 1: years and finally he's out. Yeah. I mean, you know,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you don't want to like dwell on it. But in
- 7:38Speaker 1: terms of worst picks, in the Belichick era uas Dominic
- 7:43Speaker 1: Easley might be number one, Chris can't or no Canty
- 7:47Speaker 1: was before um, but I think that, you know, Harry's
- 7:52Speaker 1: up there, especially with who they missed out onto, yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the whole other receiving class. Yeah. To overall, well, that's
- 7:57Speaker 1: what makes Harry to me really stand out because it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know, like Rossie Dowling, you know Harry, you know, yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: but it's to me, it's all the guy, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 1: the Deebo Samuels of the world that they could have
- 8:09Speaker 1: had Terry in the fifth round. Yeah, yeah, that I
- 8:12Speaker 1: always thought though at least with easily injury issues, for sure,
- 8:16Speaker 1: that's a big red flag. But at his best, when
- 8:18Speaker 1: you saw him really great get off the ball and
- 8:21Speaker 1: seemed like you were getting up. Not that he's the
- 8:24Speaker 1: same size as barm More, I don't think, but that
- 8:25Speaker 1: kind of guy, like an interior disruptive, That's what the
- 8:31Speaker 1: thought was with Harry. I never really looked at it
- 8:33Speaker 1: and said, oh, this guy has a skill that I
- 8:35Speaker 1: see him on tape in college that I think will translate.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And it never did for Easily either. But at least
- 8:42Speaker 1: I understood that pick Harry I was just never really
- 8:44Speaker 1: that high on him. And you know, I would agree
- 8:47Speaker 1: with Mike on that, like I think easily was a
- 8:50Speaker 1: roll of the dice obvious. You know, in retrospect it
- 8:53Speaker 1: was a bad one, but you could understand the skill
- 8:56Speaker 1: set what they were looking at. Yeah, yeah, and they
- 8:59Speaker 1: never got to see it here, but they understood, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 1: that was that whole tennement they were searching for that
- 9:05Speaker 1: athletic interior defensive lineman. I could sort of penetrate and
- 9:09Speaker 1: you know, go back to like Jonathan Fine and guys
- 9:12Speaker 1: like that, another injured guy who never panned out for
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Patriots. But I just didn't see what they were
- 9:18Speaker 1: looking at with with Harry, especially with Brady. I mean,
- 9:22Speaker 1: when you're drafted, and for Brady at that points, it
- 9:25Speaker 1: wasn't that wasn't his kind of guy. You know. Too
- 9:28Speaker 1: bad we didn't have duced on the draft podcast. Then
- 9:31Speaker 1: he could have told us at the time. You mean
- 9:34Speaker 1: matis oh I thought you said, Oh, I meant, I
- 9:38Speaker 1: meant he would not have been on tusig. I don't.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I don't pay much attention to this big boy, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: Ta takes. He's came right out the gate with the
- 9:47Speaker 1: with a couple of years. Strange Marcus Marcus Jones, Marcus, No, yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 1: no one, it's strange, all right. Eight five five past
- 9:57Speaker 1: five hundred is the A ticket hot line? Eight five
- 9:59Speaker 1: five past five hundred, Web radio at Patriots dot com
- 10:03Speaker 1: is the email address? What else we got? So Harry's gone,
- 10:06Speaker 1: Harry's gone. We're checking out the Bengals new Nifor Bengals
- 10:09Speaker 1: got white helmets, some white white uh albino tiger. I
- 10:13Speaker 1: guess it's like to go to the color rush. It
- 10:15Speaker 1: looks pretty good. I like it. I saw somebody put
- 10:17Speaker 1: together a little mock up of the full black Ravens
- 10:20Speaker 1: uniforms against the white Bengals. That'll be be pretty cool,
- 10:23Speaker 1: be nice for color blind people, for you soccer people.
- 10:27Speaker 1: FC Baron Munich came out with a new kit white
- 10:30Speaker 1: and gold. Oh the with white with the black stripe
- 10:33Speaker 1: down it. Did you see that? That is sharp? Clean?
- 10:35Speaker 1: That's a sharp jersey. What's your take on that jersey?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Just laughing that friend that came up with a new kid,
- 10:44Speaker 1: isn't that? That's what they call it? Fred? But it
- 10:48Speaker 1: was sharp sta. I really liked it. I might I
- 10:51Speaker 1: might get one. So I like about soccer you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: they dropped new kits every year. KI, do we know?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Why is it a kid? You know, I'll google that
- 10:58Speaker 1: real quick because I guess it's you know, it's the shorts,
- 11:02Speaker 1: it's the shirt. I don't know if the tweets are included,
- 11:05Speaker 1: the socks, the whole kit. So it's a whole kit. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 1: but I still don't like it. Uniform. It's a uniform, right, yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: so it's not the shirt and the pants and the socks.
- 11:14Speaker 1: For football they call it a uniform. I know, but why,
- 11:18Speaker 1: like you, maybe it's the kid because it's the shirt
- 11:21Speaker 1: so we can have a kid we got They call
- 11:23Speaker 1: it a kit because of that. It includes all those things,
- 11:26Speaker 1: the helmet part of the European term. That's why it
- 11:32Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. Yeah, I think that soccer just has
- 11:36Speaker 1: to be different. They can't say, they have to say,
- 11:39Speaker 1: they can't say the field, and they've been around longer
- 11:42Speaker 1: than American football, so maybe it has to be a match.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean, you know, maybe maybe we're different. Maybe we're
- 11:47Speaker 1: the ones that have to be different. You might be
- 11:50Speaker 1: right about that, but every other you know, they stop
- 11:53Speaker 1: the clock when you know the ball's done to play
- 11:55Speaker 1: that you just let it run like they have to
- 11:57Speaker 1: be different. I got a good little Patriots thing on
- 11:59Speaker 1: Nice to Clip this morning with Gardy and Pioli talking
- 12:03Speaker 1: about Mac um Poli's contention, Max got to find his
- 12:07Speaker 1: guy this year, his go to guy that he can
- 12:09Speaker 1: rely on. And you know, I think Scarnecki has said
- 12:13Speaker 1: it last year. Yeah, and right didn't he Yeah, he
- 12:15Speaker 1: needs his binky and yeah, and you already just you know,
- 12:18Speaker 1: saying what we kind of already knew. Mac going around
- 12:20Speaker 1: the country going to different receivers, not just you know,
- 12:22Speaker 1: the top guys, but you know, even guys like Wilkerson
- 12:25Speaker 1: and Um, but you know, going to them, and I
- 12:27Speaker 1: mean it's just reinforced. I think, well they've had Max.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't know if they've had or Mac did it
- 12:32Speaker 1: on his own, but he's gone to different climates. And
- 12:34Speaker 1: I hear he's going to the Upside Down to practice
- 12:38Speaker 1: this week. So that's bringing it all the way around
- 12:41Speaker 1: to stranger things. That's a gold mine. The gold mine.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Maybe he can find barbed and uh, save Edie. It
- 12:48Speaker 1: was that was a quick barbed sighting. Yeah, in the
- 12:51Speaker 1: last one. Yeah, then when they were he was getting
- 12:54Speaker 1: into what's her face's mind? Whoever designed Barb And I
- 12:57Speaker 1: mean like from a character to you know, costume, like
- 13:00Speaker 1: the glasses and the hair. I mean, she just looks
- 13:02Speaker 1: like a girl right out of my high school as
- 13:05Speaker 1: a Barb. Like I just like I have all the
- 13:07Speaker 1: characters I think she is, just like I even said,
- 13:09Speaker 1: I think I said this to you. I even give
- 13:11Speaker 1: them credit, you know, So it was like what eighty
- 13:13Speaker 1: three I think when it started, and I think of
- 13:16Speaker 1: some of them. You know, it's it's Nancy Joyce. Those
- 13:20Speaker 1: are names right from that era, right, you don't hear anymore? Right, Oh, Mike, Well,
- 13:25Speaker 1: And I said, miss people like still talking about this show.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I think I think they've done a good job and
- 13:32Speaker 1: that show. Every character in that show is kind of
- 13:34Speaker 1: weird looking like there's no one that's like they're all strange,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and I think they did a good job, like not
- 13:40Speaker 1: bringing in like a really good looking kid to play
- 13:44Speaker 1: any of the parts. Wow, yeah, that's Lucas. Lucas is
- 13:47Speaker 1: the only one seems kind of normal to me, like
- 13:51Speaker 1: probably a little bit. You know, they're all Dustin is
- 13:53Speaker 1: Dustin of course, and will Is. They're all like well
- 13:59Speaker 1: even Will like they of them that like, none of
- 14:02Speaker 1: them are like a cool kid, right, but they're not
- 14:07Speaker 1: supposed to be kids. And I think they've done a
- 14:09Speaker 1: good job. But even there's some shows that even then,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you know, it's like even those kids are good looking. Yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: but like, didn't you have like when when you were
- 14:17Speaker 1: in school, didn't you have kids that like didn't go
- 14:19Speaker 1: to recess, they stayed in and liked I know, Fred
- 14:23Speaker 1: was probably one of them. I mixed with all the groups.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I yes you were. I was like, yes, you were
- 14:28Speaker 1: always a bridge building. It was the ferrest fueler. Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 1: But those I mean, I'm not being disrespectful because some
- 14:34Speaker 1: of those kids were like Fred's points. Some of those
- 14:37Speaker 1: kids were my my friends. I went to school with
- 14:38Speaker 1: them from the fourth to the twelfth grade and my
- 14:40Speaker 1: geek geek classes. I like to call them the indoor kids. Yeah,
- 14:43Speaker 1: they were the They were the indoor recess kids. No
- 14:46Speaker 1: matter how nice it was, they were staying in playing
- 14:48Speaker 1: D and D like fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade,
- 14:51Speaker 1: like it went on for a while and then finally
- 14:53Speaker 1: they were like, we can't do this anymore. But those
- 14:55Speaker 1: were the kids. Yeah, and they kind of looked like that. Yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I think D and D's had a little resurgence because
- 15:00Speaker 1: of the show, you know, not like hate your bag
- 15:03Speaker 1: of Dice. I know that's so cool. I mean, what
- 15:06Speaker 1: a great song. I mean it's just as you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: go driving home yesterday. They're all over funny, like how
- 15:11Speaker 1: much money is that show? I didn't know the song.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You listen to the music radio, Yeah, some terrestrial music radio.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You don't know, kiss one away in the morning. You
- 15:21Speaker 1: are the snobbiest snob in the history of snobbery. All right,
- 15:25Speaker 1: it's Eric. You don't have a podcast. Makes Eric look humble.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But like like when you when you listen to music,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you don't go to like Spotify, No I do. I
- 15:34Speaker 1: usually had to go Apple Music. But sometimes it's just
- 15:36Speaker 1: I don't really feel like dealing with hook on my
- 15:37Speaker 1: phone up and going and finding stuff. I just throw
- 15:39Speaker 1: on the radio for question. You know, I just don't
- 15:41Speaker 1: know how I don't. Paul, I know, loves Mattie in
- 15:44Speaker 1: the Morning. He's been a bud. He's gone. That's one
- 15:47Speaker 1: of your shows. Maddie's gone. It's not anywhere ears. But
- 15:50Speaker 1: now you like Romero and Pebbles. I don't listen to
- 15:53Speaker 1: a ton of that anymore. Well, I mean, I listen
- 15:55Speaker 1: to some stuff with Billy and that crew, but it's
- 15:58Speaker 1: not the same without Maddie. Yeah, even though he got
- 16:01Speaker 1: like Morning Zoe, he got really cranky at the end,
- 16:05Speaker 1: but he was still falls into the Morning Zoo radio.
- 16:08Speaker 1: But you know, you I click around, listen to It's
- 16:11Speaker 1: got a Long Drive, you got a little music. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but I was listening. I listened to my shows as
- 16:15Speaker 1: Fred calls checked the weather on twenty seven. Yeah, I'm
- 16:19Speaker 1: not listening to the weather on the threes here. Yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 1: that'll be busy, not not doing any of that. That'll
- 16:25Speaker 1: be busy. In his time, Kate Bush has made two
- 16:27Speaker 1: point three million in royalties so far. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I honestly I didn't know the song. Yeah no, I
- 16:33Speaker 1: don't know. I've heard it before, but not like I've
- 16:36Speaker 1: ever paid attention to it really, But I mean it
- 16:38Speaker 1: was just I always love when I was writing movies
- 16:41Speaker 1: and stuff that, like, I just love trying to find
- 16:42Speaker 1: the perfect song for a scene or something. And that
- 16:45Speaker 1: was what was so cool about that song, Like a
- 16:47Speaker 1: captured Max's character of you know, wanting to switch places
- 16:50Speaker 1: with Billy. I mean maybe even it's a little two
- 16:51Speaker 1: on the nose but you knew exactly why the character
- 16:53Speaker 1: would respond to that song. And I think that's what
- 16:55Speaker 1: they sold to Kate Bush too. I don't think is
- 16:58Speaker 1: one to give out a lot of permission to use
- 16:59Speaker 1: for music. So I guess that's paid off four an hour.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Good good decision, good decision. It was funny because in
- 17:05Speaker 1: the season with Never Ending Story, my kids were constantly
- 17:10Speaker 1: singing that song and there's million tiktoks and all the
- 17:13Speaker 1: you know the things with that song. And I was
- 17:15Speaker 1: like what and I what do you do? Like why
- 17:17Speaker 1: are you singing that? But did you guys just see
- 17:19Speaker 1: that movie or something like why are you singing that?
- 17:22Speaker 1: And they told me no, it's it's a big part
- 17:23Speaker 1: of the you know whatever. And then the next season
- 17:26Speaker 1: comes and it's this Kate Bush song and they were
- 17:29Speaker 1: singing that and I'm like what, I go what is it? Like?
- 17:34Speaker 1: I literally had I had no idea what what they
- 17:36Speaker 1: were singing. He goes, no, no, seriously, this was like
- 17:38Speaker 1: a big song. You should know this, And I'm like, no,
- 17:42Speaker 1: Iver heard of hearing it? Yeah, yeah, I mean it's
- 17:44Speaker 1: definitely distinctive. Yeah, oh yeah when you hear it, like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: because now it's even I mean Fred doesn't listen because
- 17:50Speaker 1: he's get big spiking. I think they didn't want to
- 17:55Speaker 1: as well. But shoot, I was last night. We were
- 17:57Speaker 1: watching because I'm doing season three now. But when Max
- 18:00Speaker 1: and Eleven are kind of having in like girl time,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and you know, when they're kind of becoming friends, they're listening.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I think it's another Kate Bush song. I want to
- 18:08Speaker 1: I meant to check it, but I like, I like
- 18:10Speaker 1: when that stuff tracks. You know that's our favorite artist, right,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you know it's consistent. Yeah, Walkman, Yeah, I had a
- 18:17Speaker 1: walker I did. Oh I did? You had a Walkman
- 18:21Speaker 1: for like a couple of years. Surprise at that, I got, well,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you're a little erroldednt. Yeah, I had a Walkman with
- 18:28Speaker 1: the orange foam on the hall. Yeah, I had the
- 18:30Speaker 1: same thing. Yeah, Sony Walkman in original with the orange
- 18:33Speaker 1: foam on the on the Yeah. All right, five five
- 18:36Speaker 1: passive hundred thought those were long gun by the time,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you guys web radio at a uh at web radio
- 18:41Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com. Uh, let's go to the phone.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Let's see what people are thinking about, what they want
- 18:47Speaker 1: to talk about. UM Joe's and Raleigh, North Carolina. Hey Joe, Hey,
- 18:52Speaker 1: what's going on? Jen? Hey, hey, hey, so, uh look,
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm getting married in November. Congratulations and thank you very much.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He's a her and her family die oard Philly fans,
- 19:05Speaker 1: so you know it's true love. Um. So we I'm
- 19:08Speaker 1: the homely I'm the only relocated Yankee in the family,
- 19:11Speaker 1: so taking me and my buddies up to the Motherland.
- 19:13Speaker 1: We had scheduled the bachelor party, and we're waiting for
- 19:16Speaker 1: the schedule to come out and found out that we
- 19:21Speaker 1: were playing the Lion And immediately, you know, it just
- 19:25Speaker 1: had me thinking like how much time to have changed?
- 19:27Speaker 1: Because I sent it to the group and my cousins
- 19:30Speaker 1: and I said, Wow, if there was any game that
- 19:32Speaker 1: we wanted at home, it would be the Lion, one
- 19:35Speaker 1: that we definitely will win. And that quickly turned into
- 19:38Speaker 1: a should uh well, it is senior day here for
- 19:44Speaker 1: that game, so they think they're gonna win. Yeah. I
- 19:47Speaker 1: can only hope. It'll be our first trip up there,
- 19:53Speaker 1: and we're gonna be staying at Patriot's Place on Saturday
- 19:56Speaker 1: with you know, ten guys, twelve guys. I know there's
- 20:00Speaker 1: Bar Louis up there, but I don't know. Just get
- 20:03Speaker 1: kind of a read on the scene at Patriot's Place.
- 20:06Speaker 1: What might you recommend, um, just for the surrounding area. Yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I mean is Bar Louis. There's Six Strings, which is
- 20:13Speaker 1: like a kind of a country western bar, but they
- 20:15Speaker 1: have live music there. Um Skipjack skip Jack. Well, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: if you want to go to a bar, I wouldn't
- 20:22Speaker 1: recommend skip Jacks, although they have a bar, Scorpion Bar. Yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 1: it's some Margarita's. Yeah. If you're looking for older women,
- 20:28Speaker 1: Davio's at the bar. I got a few buddies that
- 20:31Speaker 1: might get over. Yeah, Zach, Zach Wilson COOKI Yeah, Zach
- 20:36Speaker 1: Wilson's all over our group chat. Yeah you might if
- 20:39Speaker 1: if it's like, you know, ten to twelve guys, you
- 20:41Speaker 1: might want to venture down to Providence, which is about,
- 20:44Speaker 1: you know, thirty forty minutes away south. Um, there's some
- 20:48Speaker 1: good establishments down there. It's the train still is the
- 20:51Speaker 1: train still running out of here to go up into Boston?
- 20:53Speaker 1: Still or not? Now? COVID killed it? Yeah, I figured, yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 1: cod really helpful to still the humulial stuff. I um,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you know, winner loose, gonna be a lot of diet
- 21:05Speaker 1: millers shout out the ball. I'll leave it with a
- 21:10Speaker 1: fun little game, because I heard you guys talking about
- 21:12Speaker 1: it before you got me on if you had to
- 21:14Speaker 1: put a song on to protect you from Bevecna, because
- 21:17Speaker 1: I do love that cake. Let's let's grove tonight. This
- 21:19Speaker 1: has already been discussing. Ahold oh oh. So what would
- 21:23Speaker 1: be my go to song? Right? Yeah, yeah, so tough.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I think it would be long cool woman in a
- 21:30Speaker 1: black dress by the Hot Yeah, not bad. I got
- 21:34Speaker 1: offer You by Janet Jackson. Here's a good song. It's
- 21:37Speaker 1: a jam. Yeah, I think maybe a little immigrant song.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I like Zepttle hard rock all right, maybe anybody has
- 21:47Speaker 1: a look less hard inside on the inside. On the inside,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm a rock side on the answer doesn't mean look
- 21:56Speaker 1: a little like Lars and Metallian. You know that that
- 21:59Speaker 1: metalli a documentary ruined Metallica for me? Did you see
- 22:02Speaker 1: that some kind of monster back in the day where
- 22:04Speaker 1: it was like you. It went from like Metallica being
- 22:07Speaker 1: these larger than life, scary metal heads to like a
- 22:10Speaker 1: bunch of artsy guys sitting around trying to figure out
- 22:13Speaker 1: how to write a song, right, just like completely undercut
- 22:15Speaker 1: everything that I thought about Metallica being total badasses. And
- 22:19Speaker 1: it's like, Uh, what's this the guitarist? I'm blanking? I
- 22:22Speaker 1: was day, But you know he's just like this, like
- 22:24Speaker 1: very harmless, nice guy. I don't know, it's just perception
- 22:27Speaker 1: in reality. All right, Joe, thanks for the call. What
- 22:31Speaker 1: was your song? Paul? Forget? Let's grove, Let's groove, Let's
- 22:35Speaker 1: groove tonight? All right? Share the spice of lad uh.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Jean Luke is from Tennessee, but previously from Rhode Island.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I wonder if with the name like Jean Luke, he
- 22:48Speaker 1: probably does. He's one of the few people Eric talks
- 22:52Speaker 1: to him. What do you guys think of the depth chart?
- 22:59Speaker 1: I know it says official, but I find it interesting
- 23:01Speaker 1: that the offense is now set up with a two
- 23:03Speaker 1: tight end formation, So could that open up the possibility
- 23:07Speaker 1: of four tight ends or more on the roster. Don't
- 23:10Speaker 1: don't put anything into that, just as people that are,
- 23:14Speaker 1: you know, involved in the formations of such depth charts,
- 23:19Speaker 1: please do not read anything into it. It's just basically
- 23:22Speaker 1: listing all the players at the positions that there. There's
- 23:25Speaker 1: no strategy involved. Now, they don't tell us, hey, you
- 23:28Speaker 1: might want to switch from the three wide receiver look
- 23:30Speaker 1: to the two tight end looks. In fact that they
- 23:32Speaker 1: in fact, they would probably prefer us not to even
- 23:35Speaker 1: put it up there because we get questions like this.
- 23:39Speaker 1: He goes on to say, is there an official name
- 23:41Speaker 1: for the defensive scheme of three defensive line three linebackers
- 23:46Speaker 1: five dbs? And is it a new type of defensive scheme?
- 23:51Speaker 1: If not, how long has it been around? Three? Five? Yeah? Yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 1: two five, three, three five? Those are probably the two
- 23:59Speaker 1: most is sort of turn into their base Yeah, yeah, Last,
- 24:05Speaker 1: but not last, but not least always watching those video games. Sorry, last,
- 24:13Speaker 1: but not least, Fred, you seem to be on a
- 24:15Speaker 1: roll when it came to uniform ideas. White helmet with
- 24:18Speaker 1: the flying of his's logo, with blue jersey, white pants.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I would love to see a red, white and blue
- 24:24Speaker 1: uniform combination. Yeah, I would too. I mean, I know
- 24:29Speaker 1: they're gonna have to throwbacks. They had the jersey reveal,
- 24:31Speaker 1: but I'd love to see the red jersey with a
- 24:34Speaker 1: white helmet. In the elvis like a mix, like a
- 24:36Speaker 1: like a mash up kind of Yeah, a little a
- 24:39Speaker 1: little something old something borrowed something blue ye something elvis something. Okay,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you're going to um get a long show, Bradley writes
- 24:51Speaker 1: in uh, he says, hey, ladies and gents and deuce,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I'm finally getting to watch a Patriots game at Foxboro
- 24:59Speaker 1: this year, nice um, and hopefully watch them beat the Colts.
- 25:03Speaker 1: This will be my first time taking a trip to
- 25:05Speaker 1: the area. I'm looking for some advice. Would it be
- 25:07Speaker 1: best to stay in Boston or elsewhere? Are there areas
- 25:10Speaker 1: to avoid and other fun things to do on a
- 25:13Speaker 1: long weekend. Good food places would also be greatly appreciate.
- 25:17Speaker 1: If you're gonna come way in advance, like a few days,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I would say stay in Boston too, right, and then
- 25:22Speaker 1: if you can transfer down to Foxborough. But you know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: you you know, there's not much here other than Patriot
- 25:30Speaker 1: Place in the stadium. Yep. Yeah, if you can stay
- 25:33Speaker 1: here maybe the night before the game or even after,
- 25:37Speaker 1: just have a place to go, not have to worry
- 25:39Speaker 1: about getting in getting out. But if you're gonna be
- 25:41Speaker 1: here and visiting, I think Boston for sure. And they
- 25:44Speaker 1: do the train out of Boston, so you know there
- 25:46Speaker 1: is there are ways to get down here. Yeah. It's
- 25:48Speaker 1: also not a bad drive. Yeah. Now, but if you're
- 25:51Speaker 1: gonna if you're gonna get the experience. I think Boston
- 25:53Speaker 1: is the place to go. Yep, No North then there's
- 25:58Speaker 1: so many things Newberry Street, the whole Back Bay area,
- 26:03Speaker 1: you know, freedom people, lots of restaurants. Now ye make
- 26:07Speaker 1: way for ducklings. I mean, I'll forget Dorchester, right Westy
- 26:12Speaker 1: any other part of the city that we haven't mentioned, North,
- 26:15Speaker 1: south End, South h Mitch's in Albany. I gotta say,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm a little bit sad about Nikil Harry being traded.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I always liked him and thought he could eventually turn
- 26:27Speaker 1: out to be a good receiver. I guess I'm just
- 26:29Speaker 1: an idiot because he was absolutely useless for the Patriots.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Seeing him make the occasional contested catch gave me false
- 26:37Speaker 1: hope that he could do anything as a receiver in
- 26:39Speaker 1: the NFL. I'm surprised we even managed to get a
- 26:41Speaker 1: seventh round pick Farewell in the Kiel Well that turned.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I gotta be honest with you. The whole beginning of
- 26:47Speaker 1: the email, I was thinking it was one of those
- 26:49Speaker 1: sardcastic emails. Yeah, so he was just thinking it was genuine.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I think he kept waiting every year. Tony writes in
- 26:57Speaker 1: The Harry Debacle is even worse then were the Chad
- 27:02Speaker 1: Jackson Dopson picks. At least those two were second round picks,
- 27:06Speaker 1: overruling his scouting staff to instead heed the recommendation of
- 27:10Speaker 1: Harry's college coaches. Frankly general manager malpractice. Maybe the atrocious
- 27:15Speaker 1: pick of the legendary Dominic Easley, who limped onto the
- 27:18Speaker 1: Patriots training camp fields that first year like he was
- 27:21Speaker 1: Walter Brennan or Jed Clampett, was equally horrific. But no
- 27:25Speaker 1: first round pick by coach Goat has been quantifiably worse
- 27:29Speaker 1: than Harry. To think Deebo, samuel A. J. Brown, DK Metcalf,
- 27:34Speaker 1: Dion Johnson, Terry mcglau were all available on the draft
- 27:37Speaker 1: board at wide receiver makes me want to throw up
- 27:40Speaker 1: in my mouth. To paraphrase Bill Parcels, tell us how
- 27:43Speaker 1: you really feel? Yeah, yeah, I mean it's hard to
- 27:48Speaker 1: argue that that Harry doesn't set atop the moves, especially
- 27:51Speaker 1: not even just because of the player, I think because
- 27:53Speaker 1: of the timing of it at this kind of critical
- 27:55Speaker 1: juncture as you were getting at the end of Brady's career,
- 27:57Speaker 1: and you know, had they hit on that one, one,
- 28:00Speaker 1: had it you know, been one of those players that
- 28:02Speaker 1: that he mentioned, like I said, things might have been
- 28:04Speaker 1: a little bit different. So okay, So if if that
- 28:07Speaker 1: story is true that Bill leaned on the recommendation, wanted
- 28:11Speaker 1: to get to that. Yeah, if it's true, does Bill
- 28:14Speaker 1: go back and say you screwed me? Or you know? Sure?
- 28:18Speaker 1: You know? I mean, I hope. So just my whole
- 28:22Speaker 1: feeling on these kinds of things always, I'm pretty consistent
- 28:25Speaker 1: with it. It's like, I understand that that story's out there,
- 28:29Speaker 1: and I think we all can interpret ourselves like which parts.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And you know, Mike was teasing me earlier, like you
- 28:35Speaker 1: know the things that I sort of I treat. Yeah, no,
- 28:39Speaker 1: I buy that on things that I don't buy. But
- 28:43Speaker 1: what I never do is just completely accept everything as fact, right,
- 28:47Speaker 1: like that story. And this is going to be strange
- 28:51Speaker 1: to you guys, but I'm gonna be very defensive of
- 28:53Speaker 1: Bill here. That story has become fact. It was all
- 28:58Speaker 1: one hundred percent Bill Belichick's fault, right, had nothing to
- 29:01Speaker 1: do with any Scout, any recommendation from from the Personnel
- 29:06Speaker 1: Department GM, whatever, nothing. It was all Bill. They told him,
- 29:10Speaker 1: you better go get DK metcalf Y, you better get
- 29:13Speaker 1: Terry McLaurin, You better get Deebo Samuel and Bill said no, right,
- 29:17Speaker 1: this is the guy I'm taking. And that has been
- 29:20Speaker 1: like absolutely accepted as fact around here. Right. I don't
- 29:24Speaker 1: think there's much chance that it went down like that,
- 29:28Speaker 1: but that's the way everybody I know views it now,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I know, But again, like I think that who who
- 29:33Speaker 1: would be telling the writers that that's what happened? Like,
- 29:38Speaker 1: what what's the sword? What do you think would be saying? Like,
- 29:42Speaker 1: because I think Albert Brier was the first one who
- 29:44Speaker 1: started writing about writing about it now, like Albert Brier
- 29:48Speaker 1: wrote about it in twenty nineteen. You know, it's typical
- 29:52Speaker 1: of the way that's done around here. But whatever that
- 29:56Speaker 1: that came out and everybody just accepted it maybe exactly
- 30:00Speaker 1: what happened. I'm not telling you what didn't happen. And
- 30:03Speaker 1: I do think Bill overrules the Scouts at times. But
- 30:06Speaker 1: where do you think that information came from? Like Albert
- 30:08Speaker 1: Brio just writes about this decision to take if Gail Harry,
- 30:11Speaker 1: if it's a Scout, right right, And why would the
- 30:15Speaker 1: Scouts be saying that cover my ass? Don't blame me
- 30:19Speaker 1: right exactly? Now, if it really went down like that,
- 30:22Speaker 1: you wouldn't need to do that because Bill knows. Yeah, hey, Mike,
- 30:26Speaker 1: I know you gave me the recommendation. That is my bad.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You know, we went against it. The Scouts wouldn't need
- 30:33Speaker 1: to defend them. Well, okay, But here's the other thing.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I mean, these guys move around, these Scouts. You know,
- 30:38Speaker 1: this isn't going to be their last job, probably any
- 30:40Speaker 1: of them, and they're worried about their own reputation. So
- 30:43Speaker 1: they don't want just Bill to know it. They want
- 30:45Speaker 1: everybody else to know it wasn't me. I know, But
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's an easy one to do. Like what I'm saying
- 30:50Speaker 1: is if you as long as Bill knows the truth,
- 30:52Speaker 1: he's going to back you. Yeah, is my point, And
- 30:55Speaker 1: he's gonna You're gonna have a job with him, certainly,
- 30:58Speaker 1: if as long as you're doing your job right. I
- 30:59Speaker 1: just so, here's another thing. It's too easy to just
- 31:02Speaker 1: sit there and say, ooh, it was all Bill's fault.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So here's another one like that. Back when urban Meyer
- 31:07Speaker 1: was the coach at Florida and Bill took Jermaine Cunningham
- 31:11Speaker 1: and he was the second of the two good linemen there,
- 31:14Speaker 1: and the first lineman was Carlos and the narrative is
- 31:19Speaker 1: Bill looked at the tape and said, no, it's Cunningham.
- 31:22Speaker 1: That's the guy. You know. Now, in this case, it
- 31:26Speaker 1: wasn't a recommendation of Meyer. This was it was all Bill, Yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 1: you know, yeah, like and like, I don't know if
- 31:32Speaker 1: that's true or not, but that's that's and again and again,
- 31:36Speaker 1: I just want to just you know, I don't I'm
- 31:38Speaker 1: not taking Bill off the hook. Yeah, Like I think
- 31:41Speaker 1: Bill is ultimately in charge. I give him credit for
- 31:44Speaker 1: the good picks, and I give him blame for the
- 31:46Speaker 1: bad ones. He deserves the vast majority of the blame
- 31:49Speaker 1: for all of the picks that we're criticizing. To that
- 31:52Speaker 1: I'm not suggesting that Bill should be given a pass,
- 31:55Speaker 1: but I just think that, like sometimes I think we
- 31:58Speaker 1: simplify it too much in a story that comes out
- 32:02Speaker 1: becomes fact down the road, right, and then it's and
- 32:05Speaker 1: then it gets rolled into all the draft picks are
- 32:08Speaker 1: his fault, you know, like like I just think he
- 32:10Speaker 1: can't he can't draft, and I think, I mean, I
- 32:12Speaker 1: think you've been consistent with this, Paul too, Like, I mean,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I don't. I wasn't surprised to hear you say that,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and you know, and what what about the times? Was
- 32:20Speaker 1: there ever a time that nobody wanted a guy and
- 32:22Speaker 1: he wanted him and he actually turned out good? Like
- 32:25Speaker 1: did the scouts go to Albert Breer and say that
- 32:27Speaker 1: we didn't want Rob Gronkowski. We thought the back was
- 32:31Speaker 1: a problem with guy Bill and Bill overruled us. Because
- 32:35Speaker 1: if if that story came out now, I'm a little
- 32:37Speaker 1: bit more willing to say, Okay, Bill, Bill flexes his
- 32:42Speaker 1: muscles a little bit at draft time, and again, ultimately,
- 32:45Speaker 1: Bill is the he's the final say, he's the guy
- 32:48Speaker 1: in charge. When they make a good pick, it's Bill.
- 32:50Speaker 1: When they make a bad pick, it's Bill. And I'm
- 32:52Speaker 1: pretty consistent with that, but I just it's it's the
- 32:55Speaker 1: other stuff around the edges that I'm not always fully
- 32:59Speaker 1: on board with. I think something interesting it would be
- 33:01Speaker 1: to look back at, you know, maybe when he's done,
- 33:03Speaker 1: is how how things changed based on like his coordinators,
- 33:08Speaker 1: how you know, general managers, just little nuances in how
- 33:11Speaker 1: the organization maybe like I don't even know what you
- 33:14Speaker 1: would find, but just you know, I mean, I think
- 33:16Speaker 1: we can say with you know, Bill, Billy, Oh, there
- 33:18Speaker 1: was a certain kind of style offense when Josh came back,
- 33:21Speaker 1: you know, a certain kind of style offense. We know
- 33:23Speaker 1: between Patricia and Brian Flores, those kind of subtle changes.
- 33:27Speaker 1: But it's just interesting that that a guy can run
- 33:29Speaker 1: a football team for twenty plus years and there's new
- 33:32Speaker 1: guys faces coming in GM up front office level, on
- 33:36Speaker 1: the field coaching level. How do those how how did
- 33:39Speaker 1: those things kind of change subtly over over those different
- 33:41Speaker 1: tenures out a little little piece that's kind of interesting
- 33:44Speaker 1: to me. Let's get back to the phones, um, the
- 33:48Speaker 1: stacked phones, I should say, Dan's in Virginia in Michigan.
- 33:52Speaker 1: What's up, hey, guys. Your discussion on Tuesday of uh
- 33:58Speaker 1: tip making the Hall of Fame and the struggles that
- 34:01Speaker 1: some players have because their teams don't have the wins
- 34:04Speaker 1: during the time that they were on the team has
- 34:06Speaker 1: me asking the question, how do you factor in wins
- 34:11Speaker 1: or you know, team success into evaluating a player, because
- 34:16Speaker 1: I've had I've seen people on social media pushback on
- 34:20Speaker 1: Brady being the greatest because they say that wins aren't
- 34:24Speaker 1: a individual stat, they're a team stat. So how do
- 34:28Speaker 1: you balance, um, you know, I had the success of
- 34:32Speaker 1: a team versus the ability of a player in his
- 34:34Speaker 1: studability for the whole of fame. Yeah, I think I
- 34:37Speaker 1: think you have to just look at you. It's the
- 34:38Speaker 1: eye test, all perfects. Joe Thomas on the Browns, like
- 34:43Speaker 1: they lost for his whole career, and he was but
- 34:46Speaker 1: he was great. And you know the you know, one
- 34:48Speaker 1: of the ones that everyone brings up, Dan Marino. He
- 34:51Speaker 1: was a great quarterback, you know. And it's not like
- 34:53Speaker 1: Miami didn't win games. They beat the Patriots every year. Um,
- 34:57Speaker 1: they just didn't go all the way, you know. But
- 34:59Speaker 1: Joe's amis is a good one. The tea springs up
- 35:01Speaker 1: because I mean he was on bad teams and was
- 35:04Speaker 1: considered a great tap to shake his quarterback's hand and
- 35:07Speaker 1: introduce himself in the huddle. Like that's how dysfunctional it
- 35:09Speaker 1: was so player. I just don't know how anyone could
- 35:12Speaker 1: watch the actual games of Tom Brady and not and
- 35:14Speaker 1: not acknowledge that he is well and I know it's
- 35:18Speaker 1: a team game, but he's the quarter when it's all
- 35:21Speaker 1: on him. And I just think that you have to
- 35:23Speaker 1: take it all into consideration because I would say that
- 35:25Speaker 1: I'm probably not as much, you know, I don't like
- 35:31Speaker 1: the like the strict record for a quarterback, and I
- 35:35Speaker 1: know a lot of people do it, and yeah, like
- 35:37Speaker 1: I look at you know, some other factors and some
- 35:41Speaker 1: of them are tough because, like I think Garoppolo is
- 35:43Speaker 1: like as average as average can be. I don't think
- 35:46Speaker 1: there's anything special there. I've said this for years. Right,
- 35:49Speaker 1: his record is ridiculously good, and the Niners record without
- 35:53Speaker 1: him is ridiculously bad. But I still think he's kind
- 35:57Speaker 1: of average. Right, Brady's record is tremendous, and they've been
- 36:01Speaker 1: a five hundred teams since he left. You know, I
- 36:04Speaker 1: don't I don't think that those two things are the same.
- 36:08Speaker 1: You know. I think there's a lot of stuff that
- 36:12Speaker 1: goes into it, and you gotta just kind of watch.
- 36:14Speaker 1: That's why it's subjective. You gotta watch. You gotta look
- 36:17Speaker 1: deeper than the record. Freddy and I love Elway. Yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 1: he might not have numbers that are as good as
- 36:22Speaker 1: you know, Drew Breeses. You know, to use the guy
- 36:24Speaker 1: that we talked about on Tuesday, but you know which
- 36:28Speaker 1: is as far superior is the complete guy had everything,
- 36:31Speaker 1: he had the cannon, he could run, he was strong stones. Yeah,
- 36:36Speaker 1: you know, so, so it was like that quote fred
- 36:39Speaker 1: had before he was courting somebody else. But it's like pornography,
- 36:42Speaker 1: you know when you see it, right, it's true, It's true.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Have you seen lately? Dan? The other the other question
- 36:51Speaker 1: I had, following off from the Whole of Fame discussion,
- 36:54Speaker 1: was so, who's a player from any time, any team
- 36:57Speaker 1: that you think should be in the whole thing? Who isn't. Well,
- 37:01Speaker 1: we talked about it the other day. Stanley Morgan. You know,
- 37:04Speaker 1: I'll be oh, yeah, I'll go full full blown Homer
- 37:07Speaker 1: and say Stanley Morgan, Yeah, I love the guy. I
- 37:09Speaker 1: think Rodney should be in, Rodney Harrison. Yeah, well, let's
- 37:13Speaker 1: give him time. I mean, Stanley's had a long time
- 37:16Speaker 1: to get in, and Rodney could get in. Yeah, it's
- 37:19Speaker 1: not like he's been snubbed at this right. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 1: you know an other guy. I don't know. It's hard
- 37:25Speaker 1: to take inventory other teams. You have a list in
- 37:27Speaker 1: front of you. Yeah, I'm not a huge spite my
- 37:32Speaker 1: shirt today and my presence on the Patriots Hall of
- 37:34Speaker 1: Fame committee, I'm not a huge home. I have more
- 37:36Speaker 1: guys that I think shouldn't be yea, Yeah, I find
- 37:38Speaker 1: that much easier. Yeah, all right, thanks, Dan, appreciate it.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Let's go to Dominique in New York. I hope it's
- 37:45Speaker 1: not Dominique easily, what's up? I think it's dominic No,
- 37:49Speaker 1: it's not. All right? Good, So I got two questions.
- 37:55Speaker 1: My first question is, um, what's your most random Patriots memory?
- 38:00Speaker 1: For example, for some reason, I had a random thought
- 38:03Speaker 1: of Wint even really got knocked out against the Buffalo Raven.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I think it was infamed over at that end of
- 38:11Speaker 1: the game, game over drop. Yeah, So what are your
- 38:15Speaker 1: most random Oh god, there's so many. I mean, welcome
- 38:19Speaker 1: getting hurt in Houston. I haven't. I just was so
- 38:22Speaker 1: pissed about that. Yeah, the wild Card get Wildcat. That's
- 38:27Speaker 1: a good random memory. Yeah yeah, yeah, that was weird.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Who was the coach to Morano with his glasses? That
- 38:35Speaker 1: game was so weird. Yeah, it was just like what
- 38:38Speaker 1: was it? What was the reaction in the press bar?
- 38:40Speaker 1: We were frustrating? Like what it was frustrating? Just start
- 38:44Speaker 1: it again. They just kept doing it right over and
- 38:46Speaker 1: as soon as they kind of get a beat on it,
- 38:48Speaker 1: then they shift and like throw the pass for a touchdown. Yeah.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I remember he held the ball like it was like
- 38:55Speaker 1: a like a like one of those boxing bags. He
- 38:57Speaker 1: held the ball up and punched it. That was a
- 38:59Speaker 1: rough weeks. I know I did have my first child
- 39:01Speaker 1: in matt Air, but you lose Brady and then they
- 39:04Speaker 1: pull out the way I was going to say the
- 39:05Speaker 1: Brady when Brady tours ACL I mean not, I know
- 39:08Speaker 1: that's not that random, but that's a clear memory of
- 39:10Speaker 1: feeling like, well, what am I going to do for
- 39:12Speaker 1: the next four months? Well, I remember kind of a
- 39:15Speaker 1: random one. It was the end of the Pete Carroll era,
- 39:18Speaker 1: like the writing was on the wall and they were
- 39:20Speaker 1: playing the Eagles in there was a screw up, and
- 39:23Speaker 1: there was a loose ball and special teams and Larry Wigham,
- 39:26Speaker 1: who backed then was kind of the special teams guy
- 39:28Speaker 1: instead of like jumping on the balls, like doing this
- 39:31Speaker 1: celebration dance while there's a loose ball behind him, And
- 39:34Speaker 1: it was like it encapsulated the whole season. It absolutely did.
- 39:38Speaker 1: It's a great random memory and as I often do
- 39:41Speaker 1: do so I'll fill in the blanks. And they blocked
- 39:44Speaker 1: a punt. Wigham blocked the punt and celebrated as the
- 39:46Speaker 1: ball was rolling right. The Eagles picked it up and
- 39:49Speaker 1: ran it for a first down right, and Wigham was
- 39:53Speaker 1: in full celebration mode. Yeah, it did. It just kind
- 39:56Speaker 1: of the last half of that ninety nine season in
- 39:59Speaker 1: that one play was all Peter kind of lost the
- 40:02Speaker 1: team and it was yeah, wow, that must be That
- 40:06Speaker 1: must be weird feeling walking out of the press box
- 40:08Speaker 1: after the game and feeling like this is it, Like
- 40:11Speaker 1: this is the Era is about the end? The kind
- 40:13Speaker 1: of feel that way he was getting fired, this was it.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I like I have so many Like I remember being
- 40:20Speaker 1: in a press conference post game in Atlanta, Bill Parcels
- 40:24Speaker 1: Era and the Patriots had lost the game, they had
- 40:26Speaker 1: a chance to win it. They had like two thirty
- 40:28Speaker 1: left on the clock, and to me, it seemed like
- 40:31Speaker 1: they were rushing and they didn't need to. They had
- 40:32Speaker 1: timehouse and they just seemed to be rushing. So I
- 40:35Speaker 1: actually asked Parcels about that. I seemed like, you know,
- 40:38Speaker 1: the team was kind of rushing through that final drive,
- 40:41Speaker 1: and you know, he really and he like jumped all
- 40:44Speaker 1: over me, like and just dismissed, you know. And the
- 40:47Speaker 1: next day Board just backed me up and wrote what
- 40:50Speaker 1: I said in his column like the Patriots are absolutely run,
- 40:53Speaker 1: you know. So I felt a little vindicated, But you know,
- 40:56Speaker 1: consider the source. But yeah, but but that you remember
- 41:00Speaker 1: that right? That game? I don't remember the altercation with you,
- 41:05Speaker 1: but I don't know the game that you're talking. No,
- 41:06Speaker 1: but do you think that do you remember the end?
- 41:08Speaker 1: Do you think that they were rushing a little bit? Oh? No,
- 41:10Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't remember the game. Okay, I
- 41:13Speaker 1: don't remember. You don't remember this. I don't remember every
- 41:16Speaker 1: other game because because Drew didn't play Zalac, I'm out. Yeah,
- 41:21Speaker 1: but you know, that's that's what I thought I had
- 41:22Speaker 1: mentioned that was Zola game. That's something that's stuck with me.
- 41:25Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I remember about that game. Maurice
- 41:27Speaker 1: Hurst stepped in front of a guy for a pick
- 41:29Speaker 1: six and they called back in deference and it was
- 41:32Speaker 1: a terrible call. How's that terrible? Yes? What about Champ
- 41:36Speaker 1: Bailey the pick six? Yeah? Looking at the TV analyze
- 41:41Speaker 1: that you went over the Yeah, I always credit that game, Like,
- 41:44Speaker 1: I don't think I would be doing what I do
- 41:46Speaker 1: right now if not for that game. And how much
- 41:48Speaker 1: that game, like just like they hadn't lost yet, you know,
- 41:51Speaker 1: like and you knew that was the reminder that all right,
- 41:54Speaker 1: you got Bill and Tom for a certain amount of time.
- 41:55Speaker 1: How many can you get? And this is a reminder that,
- 41:57Speaker 1: all right, it's not going to always go great. But
- 41:59Speaker 1: that game, you know what that game was to me,
- 42:02Speaker 1: It's a team that was out of gas. Yeah, from
- 42:04Speaker 1: like they had fourteen and two Super Bowl fourteen and
- 42:07Speaker 1: two Super Bowl. Here we are again. Now we won
- 42:10Speaker 1: the wild card because they didn't get to buy that
- 42:13Speaker 1: year and they had to go to Denver, and I
- 42:15Speaker 1: just think they looked like a tired I'll give you
- 42:18Speaker 1: a Denver random. I think that these things happened in
- 42:20Speaker 1: the same game, and Paul will correct me, but Logan
- 42:23Speaker 1: Mankins was battling with this guy the whole game and
- 42:26Speaker 1: he ended up on both knees in front of the
- 42:28Speaker 1: guy and just hauled off and punched him in the nuts,
- 42:31Speaker 1: a full blown I think that was a Denver game.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It wasn't. I know, it was a Denver game. And
- 42:35Speaker 1: I think in the same game Chad Brown getting folded
- 42:38Speaker 1: in half then, yeah, yeah, folded in half, like literally
- 42:43Speaker 1: off the ground where his toes were at his forehead. Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and they've never seen any Those are the seasons, you know,
- 42:51Speaker 1: people talk about Bill Belichick and his greatness and as
- 42:54Speaker 1: a coach. Those are like the individual seasons that to me,
- 42:57Speaker 1: Bill and Tom's greatness really shine through because he's that
- 43:00Speaker 1: was the Monty Bizel. Chad Brown. Yeah, they had to
- 43:03Speaker 1: move like Rabel from outside to inside. Like they couldn't play.
- 43:06Speaker 1: They didn't have NFL players to like to play like.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Chad Brown had a really good career, but he was
- 43:11Speaker 1: done when he came here. He had nothing left and
- 43:14Speaker 1: he was a guy that clearly just rushed the pad
- 43:17Speaker 1: like he couldn't do the things they needed them to do.
- 43:20Speaker 1: They would just plug in holes left and right. They
- 43:21Speaker 1: still found a way to win a lot of games
- 43:23Speaker 1: and go to the playoffs and go to the second
- 43:25Speaker 1: round of the playoffs, even just because of the greatness
- 43:27Speaker 1: of Bill and Tom. Yeah, I mean it feels like
- 43:29Speaker 1: those are the teams that can't beat the good teams.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Like when you like a bad Patriots team, they're gonna
- 43:34Speaker 1: still beat the bad teams. But it's a current Red Sox. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 1: you know current Patriots last year. You know, the good
- 43:40Speaker 1: teams the big games, those are the ones that they
- 43:41Speaker 1: couldn't quite But I've never seen someone from his knees
- 43:44Speaker 1: haul off and just punch somebody in the nuts the draft.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Do you remember that, Paul? I remember, but I don't
- 43:51Speaker 1: remember like who it was, and I can't remember it
- 43:54Speaker 1: was psych Did I just see that he got called for?
- 43:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I don't remember Denver enough. There was
- 44:01Speaker 1: one with Channing Crowder. I remember he got into him
- 44:03Speaker 1: and Matt White, and I think that was the one
- 44:05Speaker 1: that he was good to see Mett pounding on his head.
- 44:08Speaker 1: What was it like in the press box when that
- 44:10Speaker 1: Champ Bailey play happened and Watson out random, like I mean,
- 44:13Speaker 1: because you guys probably could have seen wattsiliary press. I
- 44:17Speaker 1: was in the right. It was only a division around game,
- 44:19Speaker 1: so I was able to watch that one. I don't
- 44:22Speaker 1: think any of us ever really like they're like, oh yeah, yeah, whatever,
- 44:25Speaker 1: Like I don't really on those kinds of plays. I
- 44:29Speaker 1: don't really look. You know, this is going to surprise you,
- 44:31Speaker 1: I know, because everybody thinks I'm so negative, But like
- 44:33Speaker 1: I don't generally look for like the technicality to bail
- 44:37Speaker 1: me out. Like to me, it was a terrible play.
- 44:39Speaker 1: They got the pressure off the edge and one of
- 44:41Speaker 1: my favorite Patriots of all time, Tom Ashworth, caused that play.
- 44:45Speaker 1: He missed the block can write in Brady's face. Brady
- 44:48Speaker 1: rushed it through it before without looking and got victimized
- 44:51Speaker 1: by a really, really good corner who made a play.
- 44:54Speaker 1: And like, to me, Okay, yeah, you might have been
- 44:58Speaker 1: able to win the game if it was actually a
- 44:59Speaker 1: touch back and you get the ball in the twenty
- 45:01Speaker 1: huge momentum change. But to me, like, I'm not looking
- 45:04Speaker 1: for the technicality. I'm not looking for the touch rule
- 45:06Speaker 1: every time. Like, yeah, I don't think at the time,
- 45:09Speaker 1: I didn't think of it play. When the replay, everybody
- 45:12Speaker 1: in the press was amazed by Watson's hustle. Yes speak, Yes,
- 45:15Speaker 1: that's right, But I don't think there was an uproar
- 45:18Speaker 1: even among the local media about the call. Now, if
- 45:21Speaker 1: that had happened today, it certainly would have been. There wasn't.
- 45:27Speaker 1: But at the time Fred's right. It was Ron Borges,
- 45:30Speaker 1: Kevin Mannix, Ron Hobson, all guys that have been around
- 45:33Speaker 1: for they they they you know, they were covering games.
- 45:37Speaker 1: They were covering games. They weren't like rooting, they weren't
- 45:40Speaker 1: covering a dynasty. Yeah, there wasn't like that's a terrible call.
- 45:43Speaker 1: I don't remember that at all. I mean, it happened
- 45:47Speaker 1: in the aftermath. That's what you know, everybody's like, you know,
- 45:49Speaker 1: in retrospect, they probably should have overturned that. I mean,
- 45:52Speaker 1: I've never seen a play, and that's what I was
- 45:55Speaker 1: just gonna say, even as like a diehard, crazy Patriot
- 45:57Speaker 1: fan at the time, like I was still like, and
- 46:00Speaker 1: Bill has said the same thing that led to Bill's
- 46:03Speaker 1: famous you know, maybe we can have yeah, and we
- 46:06Speaker 1: can have a bake sale and put some cameras on
- 46:08Speaker 1: the goal line. Yeah, because because the angle didn't give
- 46:11Speaker 1: you the definitive look. But the amazing thing was Watson's
- 46:13Speaker 1: speed and hustle. Oh yeah, well that's why I meant
- 46:15Speaker 1: from up above you must just end mean, I know
- 46:17Speaker 1: it exists. Well you know you didn't realize you see,
- 46:22Speaker 1: like where he had to come from and like he
- 46:25Speaker 1: was hauling at it was. That was the aftermath, was exact. Fred, Yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 1: you tied that all up like that. Everybody was like,
- 46:34Speaker 1: did you see? But watching just did. Yeah, And that's
- 46:36Speaker 1: what I found a coach in any level. I'm this
- 46:39Speaker 1: is what happens when you have anything can happen. You
- 46:41Speaker 1: don't know that happened like two years ago in the
- 46:43Speaker 1: Seattle Uh oh, the Cardinals game, Buddha Baker, um kalf
- 46:49Speaker 1: got yeah, chased down from behind by d don't stop,
- 46:53Speaker 1: don't stop the whistle? Ye? Uh? Does that answer you
- 46:56Speaker 1: a question? Dominic gave a lot of a lot of
- 46:59Speaker 1: Randomness's enjoying Yeah, I'm just enjoying it. I'm you know,
- 47:03Speaker 1: I'm a younger fan of twenty seven, so hearing kind
- 47:05Speaker 1: of throwack. I remember Ben Bot company, but not really
- 47:08Speaker 1: much after maybe or before two thousand and one. My
- 47:11Speaker 1: last question, I might hop and y'all get back to it. Um,
- 47:15Speaker 1: will be your top five quarterbacks not including Brady, Garoppolo
- 47:19Speaker 1: and Bloedsow since two thousand that have played for the
- 47:23Speaker 1: Patriot since two thousand? Wow? Okay, well let you go
- 47:27Speaker 1: top five? Well, top five can come up from five.
- 47:29Speaker 1: But Castle I don't have a top Yeah. I mean
- 47:32Speaker 1: who who top five quarterbacks other than Brady and Bledsow
- 47:35Speaker 1: and Garoppolo. I can't even use Garoppolo, No Edelmans to
- 47:43Speaker 1: be max number one for me. Castle. Yeah? I like Castle,
- 47:47Speaker 1: but but you know they play it. I'd have Castle.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I hated that season though, because everyone said, oh, you know,
- 47:52Speaker 1: they ended up eleven and five and you know, almost
- 47:55Speaker 1: making the playoffs even with Castle, but they beat up
- 47:58Speaker 1: on bad teams and when they played the good teams,
- 48:00Speaker 1: they didn't win. Rod Kobe Percetton. They're kind of like
- 48:03Speaker 1: last year and remember the year before they were undefeated.
- 48:07Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, um Pittsburgh, Yeah, I would have
- 48:11Speaker 1: Castle match charges. I guess you got to put Pricett
- 48:16Speaker 1: in the mallet. Yeah, I'm trying to think of who
- 48:18Speaker 1: could even be in. But those other guys never played
- 48:21Speaker 1: in any like this Horrior account. O'Connell never played, right,
- 48:27Speaker 1: you can't put Cam in? No, you know who Damon
- 48:29Speaker 1: Hewart's Cam Newton? Did he ever play? He played for Belichick?
- 48:35Speaker 1: Didn't Heward win a couple of games for us with
- 48:37Speaker 1: Belichick in relief? Oh no, maybe not what but Damon Hewart,
- 48:42Speaker 1: you can keep saying the name. He never played the
- 48:44Speaker 1: game for Belichick? All right, when did he play? When
- 48:48Speaker 1: did HWard? He was on the team, but he never played.
- 48:50Speaker 1: It's like Ryan Mallett, like he never played. I know,
- 48:52Speaker 1: but when was he on the team, Damon Hugh Like
- 48:54Speaker 1: two thousand, maybe two thousand, two thousand and one, yeah,
- 48:58Speaker 1: two thousand and two thousands, he was in the two
- 49:00Speaker 1: thousand and one he came in as the backup and
- 49:02Speaker 1: then Brady beat him out any test in two thousand
- 49:06Speaker 1: Minny Testaverdy he played, at least he played Doug Flutie Bishop.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I don't know if he played quarterback. You kicked that
- 49:14Speaker 1: extra player. I don't know if he ever played. It
- 49:15Speaker 1: doesn't matter whether he plays or not. Yeah, oh well,
- 49:19Speaker 1: if we're not counting guys that played, then Mallet's in
- 49:21Speaker 1: the in the au. It doesn't matter whether or not
- 49:23Speaker 1: they played. Arm Just who do you like? Davy? Terrible look,
- 49:29Speaker 1: terrible look bad quarterback? Look him? Oh looked like a
- 49:34Speaker 1: looked like a defensive tackle. Right. Like his shirt was
- 49:37Speaker 1: always like he were number six. I'm glad you're getting
- 49:40Speaker 1: And it was never in the middle. It was always
- 49:42Speaker 1: up to the side, right. I was so ready. He
- 49:45Speaker 1: totally looked, totally looked out of place as a quarterback.
- 49:50Speaker 1: And you're right on the same I'm talking about food.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I screwed that up. I said that was my last
- 49:55Speaker 1: day Tuesday, right, I have another. I have another day.
- 50:00Speaker 1: We should awarded food. Oh yeah, and you're like, I
- 50:03Speaker 1: didn't start yet your final real meals? Yeah, I didn't
- 50:05Speaker 1: start yet. Yeah, No, but I remember Fred said that
- 50:11Speaker 1: was it, right? So I didn't even think of it.
- 50:14Speaker 1: I was I'm leaving anyway, so I didn't like. Uh.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Don writes in from Calgary, still getting enough? You know
- 50:20Speaker 1: Calgary pretty well? Yeah? Sure. Do you remember a few
- 50:23Speaker 1: years ago when Cleveland had those bud light fridges that
- 50:25Speaker 1: didn't open until Cleveland broke their windless street? Bonus point
- 50:29Speaker 1: if you remember the first team they beat? Yeah, it
- 50:32Speaker 1: was the Jets. Tyrod got knocked out Baker one in Well,
- 50:36Speaker 1: I was thinking that we should get fridges of diet
- 50:39Speaker 1: Miller that won't open until the Patriots finally make another
- 50:41Speaker 1: team punt. Paul missed that one. Oh my god, I
- 50:47Speaker 1: mean the Bronx cheer that's gonna go up in the
- 50:50Speaker 1: in the press box. Probably mean it won't be till
- 50:51Speaker 1: week two, but when hopefully finally Pittsburgh has to punt
- 50:55Speaker 1: and I won't, Paul, I can already Phil, Paul leaning
- 51:00Speaker 1: into me to tell me something when not Uh back
- 51:05Speaker 1: on the phone, Williams and Philham? What's up? William? What's up? Brave?
- 51:09Speaker 1: What's going on? Hey? Hey? What's up? Paul? Mike? Hey?
- 51:14Speaker 1: Uh okay, I was just listening to y'all basically. I mean,
- 51:18Speaker 1: I know, I'm kind of kind of a little late though,
- 51:19Speaker 1: come in with it. But y'all were spoke about Nikill
- 51:22Speaker 1: Harry correct. Yeah yeah, okay, okay, So as bad as
- 51:27Speaker 1: it that makes you so angry war with Bill boy? Okay,
- 51:31Speaker 1: So I gotta ask you another question. Is it true
- 51:33Speaker 1: that Bill knew that A J. Brown wants to be
- 51:35Speaker 1: with the Patriots? I don't know, I don't know. I
- 51:39Speaker 1: don't know what was that? Was that like an Instagram THINGEO?
- 51:43Speaker 1: After he visited, well, he put out of A J.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Brown put out of YouTube Billy and he said, you know,
- 51:49Speaker 1: I had an interview and he said, look, I want
- 51:51Speaker 1: he knew that the Patriot was going to frame right. Well,
- 51:53Speaker 1: that's that's you know, that that's why they didn't. Yeah,
- 51:57Speaker 1: you know the story. The myth is that's was a
- 52:00Speaker 1: mark against him in a reason why they may not
- 52:03Speaker 1: have drafted him. But I don't know if that's true either. Yeah. Right, Um,
- 52:08Speaker 1: And just one more thing too, I mean, kill just
- 52:11Speaker 1: answered me this. I mean, even you, Paul, Um, how
- 52:15Speaker 1: in the hell did you how did you come up
- 52:18Speaker 1: picking to kill Harry over all those receiverts? What told you?
- 52:22Speaker 1: I mean like even even a fan could pick up
- 52:25Speaker 1: those over to kill Harry. Why would you? Why would
- 52:28Speaker 1: you do that? I know, are you supposed to be
- 52:29Speaker 1: giving Son Braddy a weapon? Listen, I can't. I'm not
- 52:32Speaker 1: going to take credit for oh. They At the time,
- 52:35Speaker 1: I was like, okay, but I know a lot of people,
- 52:38Speaker 1: a lot of people, William, You're right, a lot of
- 52:40Speaker 1: people said he's not the best of the bunch. He
- 52:43Speaker 1: can't get separation. That was said immediately, immediately, Bred, I
- 52:49Speaker 1: would doubt understand that. Your boy, I understand that's your
- 52:52Speaker 1: Oh god, I'm like, dude, how did you pass up
- 52:58Speaker 1: on Hollywood Brown, DK Metcam Terry mccorn. Yo, Well, I
- 53:04Speaker 1: think Deebo Samuel is the best football player in the
- 53:07Speaker 1: league right now, you know, and guys that fit what
- 53:10Speaker 1: they do. That's what's frustrating. Yeah, well yeah, and it's
- 53:13Speaker 1: just another receiver added to the bunch with d Johnson,
- 53:15Speaker 1: Aaron Dops. God, damn Mike. I know. He's kind of
- 53:20Speaker 1: a hypothetical though. Do you think if they drafted AJ
- 53:22Speaker 1: Brown he'd still be on the Patriots right now? Yeah?
- 53:27Speaker 1: He wouldn't. If you if they had drafted AJ Brown,
- 53:29Speaker 1: would he still be on the Patriots right now. I mean,
- 53:31Speaker 1: he's obviously not on Tennessee. Still, I don't think you
- 53:35Speaker 1: would be. But but during those years, would Tom Brady
- 53:38Speaker 1: still be? Maybe there's just so many hypothetically what's going
- 53:42Speaker 1: to happen? Butterfly alight, thanks William, But it's like, what
- 53:47Speaker 1: would make you more matt Like what makes you matter that,
- 53:49Speaker 1: like you totally whiff on to kill Harry or that
- 53:51Speaker 1: you nail A J. Brown totally totally whiffing on Harry
- 53:54Speaker 1: makes me more mad because at least if they had
- 53:56Speaker 1: drafted AJ Brown and what happened happened, ten had a
- 53:59Speaker 1: couple good year, and I would say, all right, we'll
- 54:01Speaker 1: just get another one. Yeah, right, Who thinks they just
- 54:04Speaker 1: got another one? You know, I don't want to revisit,
- 54:07Speaker 1: you know, the fight that Mike and I had on Tuesday.
- 54:10Speaker 1: But aside from Mike, who thinks they got another one?
- 54:13Speaker 1: All right? Well Stefan Gilmour maybe and after what Devon
- 54:16Speaker 1: Parker did to him twenty nineteen, but and we let
- 54:20Speaker 1: him go quick tech Tyler and Nadek says fast forward
- 54:26Speaker 1: to the next season next off season. Out of each pair,
- 54:29Speaker 1: which headline is more likely to be a real headline
- 54:33Speaker 1: during the twenty twenty three off season. Headline was Steve
- 54:38Speaker 1: adopted because this defense shows no sign of Belichick's genius,
- 54:41Speaker 1: or Steve Belichick is the most desirable head coach option
- 54:45Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty three season. I need the first one. Yeah,
- 54:49Speaker 1: but you don't talking about two thousand and five. That's
- 54:51Speaker 1: similar concerns turnover at lineback. Yeah, first thing, you don't.
- 54:55Speaker 1: It's not really his fault. Just there's so many unanswered questions.
- 54:57Speaker 1: So you gotta see what happened Romandres quote or headline
- 55:02Speaker 1: Romandre Stevenson is a true bell cow back and could
- 55:05Speaker 1: break Dylan's single season team rushing record in twenty twenty three,
- 55:09Speaker 1: or it's clear these are long headlines, or it's clear
- 55:13Speaker 1: the Patriots are missing a fullback due to the lowest
- 55:16Speaker 1: rushing output under Belichick in twenty twenty two. I'd say
- 55:19Speaker 1: the first one. We have to have one of those two. Yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 1: first one. Yeah, Well, questions, but it goes back to
- 55:24Speaker 1: what we kind of talked about last week of leg
- 55:25Speaker 1: is is there any way that any of those backs
- 55:28Speaker 1: could get enough carries and enough of a role that
- 55:31Speaker 1: he could do that? Like, could you know, I just
- 55:33Speaker 1: don't know if it's possible that that even if you
- 55:35Speaker 1: were as good as Dylan was there s rot. I
- 55:37Speaker 1: don't think they're going to have I don't think Stevenson
- 55:39Speaker 1: has that ability to rush for you know, sixteen hundred
- 55:43Speaker 1: and fifty yards or whatever. But I think the running
- 55:46Speaker 1: game will be fine. Like yeah, despite nope, fullback, Yeah,
- 55:51Speaker 1: headline back at the top. Patriots win division with a
- 55:53Speaker 1: convincing sweep of the Bills, or Patriots give encore performance
- 55:58Speaker 1: of twenty twenty one with two more games again some
- 56:00Speaker 1: Bills without forcing a single punt. Wow, your punt line
- 56:03Speaker 1: just getting a lot of legs, right, I know, we
- 56:05Speaker 1: just you missed it, Paul. Somebody said that, Um oh
- 56:08Speaker 1: you heard the Miller light thing. I'm all for it. Yeah,
- 56:12Speaker 1: which one? I think the first one. There's no way
- 56:15Speaker 1: they're gonna play two more games and not force a punt.
- 56:19Speaker 1: No way, no way, say the second swept with punts
- 56:24Speaker 1: they punted. Headline Kwon McMillan has the makings of the
- 56:29Speaker 1: next great Patriots linebacker or dugger looks lost at safety
- 56:33Speaker 1: and will be on the roster bubble for twenty twenty three.
- 56:36Speaker 1: See this is like it's not fair the way they
- 56:39Speaker 1: they've set up. The second thing is almost impossible to
- 56:41Speaker 1: happen in every one of these scenarios, So you're forced
- 56:45Speaker 1: to take the over the top positive thing that's almost
- 56:47Speaker 1: impossible to happen. Okay, I mean I think, just generally,
- 56:50Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of McMillan. I think he
- 56:52Speaker 1: has to be a three down linebacker for them. I mean,
- 56:55Speaker 1: I you know, Bentley is what he is, but I
- 56:57Speaker 1: think I think he's a key, key guy to watch.
- 56:59Speaker 1: And Howland volved here, I do too. But the most
- 57:01Speaker 1: likely thing, I mean, like, I don't think there's any
- 57:03Speaker 1: chance that Dougger's gonna look lost and be a roster cood, right,
- 57:06Speaker 1: you know, I don't think there's any chance of that. Right,
- 57:09Speaker 1: So you're you're forced to say, well, McMillan's the next
- 57:11Speaker 1: big thing. I have no idea. It's just fun. Last one.

- 1:06:25Speaker 1: fred would taste better a tender or a wing. A
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: wing if it's done right, because the skin still on
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: it and it's fried, and you know it's all from
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: one check. I think the bone gives an extra flavor.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I don't know why. It's the fat from the skin
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: that gives it the flavoring. You know, I like phone in,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: but I there's times that pay. I'm perfectly satisfied with
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: my tenders right here, like when we do it right
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: here right because I don't want to be eating wings
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and making a mess as I'm trying to yell at
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: college but telling me that I call Belichick a mediopen fo.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: You know it's not your face, but it's also all
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: in your fingers, you know. It's so when I ate
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: wings at home, after it's done, I just put my
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: hand out. My dog cleans my finger. Just hang, you
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: fat bastard. You can't even drop wash your own hands
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: immediately watching TV. You let the dog do the work.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: My god, not yet, not yet, can still working? You

- 1:07:58Speaker 1: probably Bill and Albuquerque writes in despite being in the West,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: I still listen to terrestrial radio in Boston. Yea Indie

- 1:08:18Speaker 1: w e R. Yeah, you're an Emerson guy, right, Wheaton, Wheaton,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Wheaton same same conference. That's right, you're Wheat. Yeah, but
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Emerson got a plug and stranger things they did. Yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Jane's rocking the shirt. Yeah, that's where Nancy wanted to go.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Nancy was gonna go to Emerson. She's wearing the T shirt.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: So Jane's got the shirt up stare I ordered one too,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah really yeah? Yeah. Why did Nancy want to
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: go there? I thought she was into reporting. Somebody said,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: like they have journalism at Emerson. I think somebody said
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: one of the like producers like has Emerson ties. So
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I guess they just like plugged it in there. That
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: makes sense. That's usually how it works, right, Somebody went
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: there like the names, like, well, you guys did it,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: didn't they do with John and La? Didn't you put
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: all your names in it? They put our names in
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: h what's the name of that show? Plain Sight? In
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Plain Sight? Arry McCormick, Yeah, is that ass? Hut Scala
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Vino gonna be there? That's a highlight. Andrew writes in,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: you guys were talking earlier about nineteen nineties Patriots memories,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: so I thought i'd chime in. I want to preface
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: this by saying I love Bill Parcels, and I literally
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: became a Patriots fan the day the team made the
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: announcement of his hiring. That said, I'm watching the Super
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Bowl against the Packers on NFL Network last night, and
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I was floored by something everyone knows about. How poor
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: to me the decision to kickoff to Desmond Howard was.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: But one thing I had completely forgotten about is that
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: in the ensuing Patriots possession, the drive was completely blown
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: up by Reggie White. If there was any chance of
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: recovering from the kickoff, it ended right there. Yeah, the
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: famous site Matt max Lane just getting abused he thought
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: you had a chance right before that takeoff, and that
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: just changed it. Um, I don't understand how Parcel slashed
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Dante slash rest of the coaching staff could have possibly
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: decided that blocking future Hall of Famer Reggie White one
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: on one with Max Lane was a good idea. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: that's ain't that the truth with Reggie White? And funny
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: I went back Barmore said, he, uh, he grew up
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: watching a lot of Reggie White, like that was kind
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: of his guy who the coaches kind of put him on.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: And I kind of went back to just like as
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I was looking him. But what a what a dominant
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: beast that guy wasn't that I mean? And I'd love
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: to see Barmore be that guy. But like that's what
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: I think is missing from the Patriots, right, Yeah, the
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: other the other kind of legend. But it's kind of
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: true because I have you know, he said it firsthand
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: about that Super Bowl in the play with Desmond Howard,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: but Troy Brown didn't wasn't in on that play, wasn't
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: playing And he says, I should have been in because
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I would have caught him. I would have wouldn't have
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: gone all the way and you know, I'm not gonna
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: argue with Troy Brown. You probably would have, and so
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: that was a personnel decision that was a bad one.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: I remember just being like very young, watching like the
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: highlights on NFL network but not knowing what happened, and
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, it's like second half. I was like, oh, okay, Like, well, O,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: what year was that you were here for, like your
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: second third year? I mean it's my second year, so
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I mean you're already going. We were five and eleven.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: And then the second year we went to the super Bowl.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: That's crazy. I mean, a bunch of wide eyed, like
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: new people. You know, it's funny, like talk about random memories. So,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: you know, back then, it was a much smaller crew.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: You know, there was no the web. World Wide Web
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: had just come on. There was no social media, There
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: was no iPods or iPhones or any of that, right,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: so it was really the newspaper that we were focused on.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: That that was it. You know, So our staff was
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: really small. The whole overall organization staff going down to
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: this was you know, my office or our room was
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: right next to the owner room. So you'd walk out
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: and say you need to take us to this party,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: like you could do anything. But the thing that I
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: get screwed on is it like I worked in Boston.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Back then there wasn't room at the stadium, so all
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: my staff was in Boston, and when we went to
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Super Bowl, I guess, I guess everyone was allowed to
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: have a hotel woman bring a guest for free. The
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: word didn't get to us. So I had a suite
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: with like six people sleeping in the suite, like people
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: literally on the floor. And then I find out afterwards, oh,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: you could have had your own room and all. But anyway,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: it was a great memory, you know, like you it's
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: your first one. It was just you know, in New
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Orleans Bourbon Street. It was awesome when you look back
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: in retrospect to you, I mean, I mean I think,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: of course you were kind of wide eyed and just
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: happy to be there somewhat. But in contrast to the
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: when you went to the sixth championship, it like like
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: it was, oh, it was so different, so different, just
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: like the old like we're almost yeah. Of course, I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: think about Minnesota doing the Not Done Network and then
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: what we did in ninety six, like the whole television
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: number R six guys making a newspaper, right and one
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: suite that was it? Yeah yeah, um Roger and Saint
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Louis um, he says. First, Spotify put together a personal
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: playlist for your upside down songs, but in typical Spotify fashion,
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: the recommendation algorithm is pretty garbage. Just search upside down
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: playlist in the app. I did that, and they're right.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: It is very random. It's like kind of like your
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: most recent songs. It's not like your most played songs
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: anything that just like wasn't that good? Is what does
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: it pick? It picks like your sorry, it's like like
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: your like most recent like yeah, so I try to
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: guess what you would have as yours. It's not like
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: your most played It's not like the spotifyed wrapped thing
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: where like they clearly like put time into that. This
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: was kind of like, oh, let's make a quick money
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: grab all yes yeah um, he says. But my biggest
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: stranger things hot Take. The show should have ended after
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: season one. I think season two is average. It has
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: good moments, but it's mostly a slog. Season three is
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: just flat out bad. Season four was really good, but
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: the final episode felt like a reversion back to my
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: least favorite part of season two and three. I understand
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: with the hype and love of the show, there was
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: no chance that Netflix would cancel it after season one,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: but narratively, it's apparent the Duffer brothers were struggling on
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: where they would take the story. Seeah, like I like
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: season three, I'm on a now rewatch Yeah, I mean too,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: me too with them all and see if they did
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: it like season one just ended it. It kind of
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: be like that show, um Mine Hunter right now it's unreal.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: But I just don't tell her that. Yeah, she's in
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: the thick of it right now. Season two and I'm like,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: all right, season three, Nope, it's done. Yeah. I think
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: every season has its moments or you know, just little
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: things like for example, um, in the last season when
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: they go um and Dustin has like a hoodie with
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: a bandana, which is totally ripped from Patrick Swayzy and
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Red Don, which is one of my favorite movies. But
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: just like a little detail like that that a lot
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: of people wouldn't realize. But there's so much of that
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: baked into throughout that some of you get, some you don't. Um,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: But I don't disagree with with some of the clunkiness
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: of it. I would just that's why I would love
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: and Star Wars didn't do this. And I always bring
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: up Marvel because they were one of the few where
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: it all makes sense. Now there was a plan from
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: the beginning, and like we touched on at the top,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: like it does feel a little retroactively jiggered to oh,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: now it all makes sense. But you know, did they
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: really know that? You know, I don't want to give
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: you much away for people I haven't seen it, but
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I don't I don't know. I still have my questions.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I think they I think, like I said, I think
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: they've done a pretty good job tying up loose ends,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: making things consistent, making things make sense, you know, um continuity,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: making sure that you know, yeah, like you know that
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: contradicts something that happened in the past. I think they've
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: been very careful about that. What's like I think about
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: when I used to write screenplays, and it's such a
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: tedious process, and you know, the first draft is like
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: you just got to get it done, but then so
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: much of going back to it is like connecting those
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: threads or putting you know, foreshadowing things early on or later,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: and you wonder if the Duffer brothers could look at
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: this how much they Yeah, But even if they were
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: to now do a second draft of the series, so
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: to speak, like what would they have changed, you know,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: like what could they put in to kind of foreshadow
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: season four in season one or two, you know, subtle
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: nods to the power of the music or all those
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: things that kind of were revealed then, but you know,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: just things that would pay off. And you look back
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: when you're rewatch and you're like, oh my gosh, I
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: didn't even realize, but right there, you're foreshadowing this. And
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I know a lot of people on like TikTok are
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: going back like, well, if you go back and you
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: look at Billy, he like folds his arms a certain
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: way like one does in that. You know, I'm like, really, really,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: you think they were like fold your arms like this,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Like I don't know, it's gonna it's gonna like the
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: hype's gonna die down though it's wrapped up, and then
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four, every's gonna be super excited and
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: it'll be over. That's what's so weird about TV and
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: stuff now though it's like like this show is so
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: influential now on the music that we're listening on radio
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: and everything, and it's so big right now, and like
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: you said, it's all of a sudden gonna die and
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: now there's gonna be some other show that that hopefully
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: is you know, gets all that kind of attention, and yeah,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: that's yeah, but that's the beauty of it. There's so
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: many platforms now that there's places for everything, Like you're
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: not limited to certain channels or you know, like even
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: when I was growing up, like you had your networks,
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: but you know, HBO was happening and so that was
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: but now you have unlimited. Yeah, it's unlimited, and it's
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: I mean, it's so hard to break through the noise
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: and to get a hit like that, like I was
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: thinking of you know, who shot Jr? Or those like,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: you know, really huge moments in television history that just
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: reverberated across society and you know, and and and that's
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: a little bit what's happening now. But it's just it
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: is hard to do because there's so many outlets and
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: it's so hard to get everybody on the same page.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: And I mean, I think that there's just an element
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: in nostalgia in stranger things that you know, a lot
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: of people in our generation, it's like we're we're all
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: kind of spread out, but we all appreciate the eighties
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: and those movies and Star Wars and all that stuff
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: that it kind of kind of touches on. So yeah,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: I assume right now everybody in Hollywood is trying to
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: figure out how do we how do we do this?
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Like how do you make something stand out like Stranger
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Things to that transcends streaming and it's just a hit.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: It's a pure hit. Yeah, but it's it's good writing.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: You know, it's the right casting. You know, it's yeah,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: like Stranger you know, breaking bad. You know, you couldn't
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: have anything more different than Stranger Things, but like, it
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: just resonated. It was just awesome. It's just so well done.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: You know, um Speeds and Fresno, what's up? Speed? Yeah,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Stranger Spece is great. It's it's perfect combination of nostalgia
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: with great writing, great acting, and I'm with I'm with everything,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: and you guys were just saying it's um. To the
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: emailer's point, though, I do think the Duffer brothers kind
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: of had to figure out, you know what, how they
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: were going to continue, you know, it's it's kind of
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: like with the Matrix sequels. They had to pick up
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: and didn't really know that this thing was going to
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: explode as much as it did. What I thought they
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: should have done, even though I totally liked the entire show,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: what I thought they should have done was keep each
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: of these seasons in independent storyline, so kind of like
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: with American horror story Yeah true Detective too. Yep. Yeah,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: upside Down could have worked until at the end of
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: the first season he vomits the worm or whatever from
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: you know, into in the stink and that's just that.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Then that storyline just ends and so the next season
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: is the same actors. Maybe you bring them back, but
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: it's a different, other sort of side of that parallel
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: universe to that one. Yeah, one way of doing it. Sorry, yeah, um,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: I had a football one. Um. So, what do you
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: guys think about the super Bowl? The super Bowl, the
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Bengals RMS super Bowl? Do you enjoy it? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: sure I did? Yeah like that, Yeah, whe's the Bengals
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: pull up. I'm I'm I did enjoy the game, but
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: I'm I'm still disappointed with the way that it ended
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: with that, you know, the the well on the third
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: quarter with Tehagen's face masking Jalen Ramsey, and they didn't
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: call it, and then then in the they like didn't
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: call any penalties the entire game until the Rams game
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: winning drive. That the whole thing and the interference that
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: basically gave them the game as a makeup, it's one
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: of those degregious, disappointing makeup calls in history. Yeah, I
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: agree with that. Yeah, I kind of forgot all about that, honestly,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: you know, now that you're bringing it up, I remember,
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: but like to me, even at the time, like it
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: didn't really ruin the game for me, Like you, I
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: guess I'm so conditioned to bad refereeing that, you know. Yeah,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: it's just referee has been bad in all sports. Yea,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: right now, I've just kind of gotten used to it.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Local you thought it's been outstanding. That was particularly terrible.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: It totally ruined the game for me. I was having
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: such a great time and and then it just happened.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I thought. But at first I thought the fix was in,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: But then later on, when when the t Higgins thing
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: came up, I was like, oh, yeah, that's what it was.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: But it's just it's pretty pretty I get it because
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: like there's two teams in LA, the Super Bowls in LA.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: LA's playing in it, so it's kind of like, oh,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: this kind of all adds up. You want LA to win. Yeah,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: but I know it's so funny that like for like ever,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: no team had ever won a Super Bowl at all
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: back and now back to back. You know, thanks to
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: be appreciate the call. Joe and Wark, New York. Um.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: I love the show, he says. I've heard it said
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: by coach Belichick that the best ability is availability. Here's
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: a quick one question game. What do you think is
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: the best ability? He's got five of them. Capability, reliability, possibility, affordability,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: and pliability. I mean reliability just you know, you know
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: you can count on a guy. I'd start with the
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: first one. Capability. Yeah, Like, if you're not capable, then
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: all the others don't matter, Right, you got to start playing? Yeah,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: you gotta start there. Yeah, availabilities key though, can't make
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: the right at the top. But if you stink and
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: you're available, what good is that? It's an unexpected twist
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: to all the storylines that you spend all year kind
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: of formulating in your head of how it's going to
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: come together in camp, and then all of a sudden
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: somebody gets hurt and everything you talked about about a
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: certain player is just out the window, because you know,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: especially with the rookies, like we talked to all with Harry,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I don't know how much it really mattered that he
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: got hurt. Of course it set him back, but you know,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: would he have ultimately caught up. I don't. I don't
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: really think so. But you know, for those rookie guys
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: to not get the experience out of the gate, and
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I think you see it sometimes, you know, kind of
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: linger into their early career that it's just it, it
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: really it hurts them. And you know that's again to
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: go back to Myers. You know, just a guy who's
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: been consistently out there and does it and you know
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: as it you know, Randy Moss out there. No but
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: he's out there and he's getting better every time. And
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I think that that's worth a lot to them that
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: they know they can count on him, not only you know,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: to be there, but to know what to do and
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: to you know, when the ball is thrown to him,
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: to make to make the play. Breton Toronto from two
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: thousand and three until now, so basically twenty years the
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: only wide receiver drafted by the Patriots which which has
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: over sixty career receptions for the team is Edelman with
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: six twenty. Next is Harry with fifty seven and Dobson
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: with fifty three. Absolutely terrible. Branch and Givens were before
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: two thousand and three. Yeah, and Doug touched a little
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: bit on that on this his PFF right up on
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Harry too, And you know, I mean hopefully these changes
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: on offense are are geared towards that, because I mean,
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: you hear enough about how hard it is to pick
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: up the system and all YadA, YadA, YadA, and I'm
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: sure you know not this isn't a dig at Josh.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: But it's just that Josh knew exactly what he was doing,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: and it was you had to get on his page,
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: and you know, I respect that, But now it's you've
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: got a chance to hit the reset button a little bit.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: And I mean, this is the thing, clearly, you know,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: whether they're not drafting the right guys or whether they're
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: drafting the right guys, but they just can't learn the system.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: I think something had to change, you know, So hopefully
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: that equals more success. We'll see with Thornton. You know
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: how Eddie jumps number two on that list Thornton. I mean,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: we'll see, We'll see. I mean it's a stack depth chart,
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: and in a way, I don't I prefer this then
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: having to think about you know, if let's say Agelare
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: and Parker weren't here and you're like, we really need
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Thornton to be the outside guy. We need him to
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: step right in. I think that's a lot asking a
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: lot of a guy, and you know someone I think
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: that's what they did with Dobson and when he was
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: a rookie in twenty thirteen that you desperately needed, you know,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: to reinforce the receiver position you signed Amendola. You didn't
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: really know what you had with Edelman. You know, I
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: think he's in a good spot where the pressure isn't on,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: but but I'd still love to see him push the
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: envelope a little bit and make some plays that that
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: make you go, you know, I mean, train Nixon can
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: be out there in mini camp and make you know,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: two to three brilli beautiful downfield catches. I don't think
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: that would be asking too much of of Thornton in
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: this training camp that's coming up here in less than
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: two weeks. All right, we're gonna take a quick break,

- 1:29:59Speaker 1: how we your top twenty five QB rankings change? Are
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: there any quarterbacks who had a short but amazing career
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: like Bo Jackson, but he wasn't a quarterback. The only
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: one who comes to mind is Andrew Luck, but his
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: per game stats are pretty similar to Drew Brees, and
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I don't think either of them are in that upper echelant. Yeah,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I thought it Torrell Davis too, That was another, but
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: a quarterback position, Like I mean, if they're good, they
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: lasted right, Yeah, because you don't get as hurt as much.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I mean, you know, like look at I mean, I
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: just we're talking about like Marcus Carson Palmer. Maybe the
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: guys can continue to get chances, like if you can
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: even like remotely play like luck is such a unique
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: one because he was hurt so much and he had
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: you know, he had to turn it up. But you know,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: even average kind of guys get three on a different team. Like, yeah,
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: that's a great one. That's a great one. He lit
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: up the league that first. That is a great one.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: YEA was that two thousand and twelve, which which which
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I think too we should tie it into like let's
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: see your Shanahan and McVeigh and who else, I uh,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: the guy from Cincinnati. Well, let's let's let's throw all there.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Let's throw injuries and also off field stuff. Michael Vick,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Michael Vick, you know, right, Vie, And he came back
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: and played played okay, right, and he came back. He
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: throwed maybe Vince Young in there a little for early years. Yeah,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: it's a weird one, right, he had a very up
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: and down career. Yeahs, I mean we talked about it.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: This goes way back, but you know, had he not
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: had bad knees, Joe Namath might you know, like he's
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame. A lot of people don't
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: think he should be, but he maybe he'd be a
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: slam dunk if he had the good knees, you know, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I think of anybody else off the top, Carson Palmer
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: are knockot Philip Rivers when he if he didn't blow
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: out his acl and play in the playoff game, y'all
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: had some Boham and Palmer both had some untimely, untimely
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: luck with that, yep. H Zach also says I took
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: Fred's recommendation and watched them Bobby or highlights. My biggest
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: takeaway was that TV resolution back then made it impossible
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: to watch a hockey game. The screens so blurry you
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: can't even see the puck, and the pu catchphrase should
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: be it's about honor or Fred's characteristic all right? I
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: like the all right, Yeah, they like guys like smoking
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: on the bench, nobody wearing face masks, yeah, or helmets
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: like chicken wire for instead of glass, Like, how did
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: you not tear your face off every time you went
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: into the corner. I don't know hockey hockey like he
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: was different back sure was Christian with a Chris with
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: a T. I a N writes in Heward, meaning Damard played.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Damon played the role of Peyton Manning and was responsible
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: for the O three AFC Championship Game twenty four to
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: fourteen victory. He mimic the line calls and audibles of
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Manning for the Patriots defense during practice. It was directly
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: responsible for ty Love's three picks. At least that's what
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Three Games to Glory says, and good riddance on Harry.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I tweeted Lombardi and asked him how that metcalf slash
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Harry evaluation was worth working out for him? No reply,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: But now I'm blocked. Oh the Scalabino, Yeah, I'm not.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: I'm not going to miss the could they move him
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: to tight end question? Every weekend? Yeah, every week It's
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: best to just cut ties and move on. Yeah, it
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: was time. First round blocking receiver Cody in Indiana says,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: I'm struggling to come up with a good offseason question
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: for you, So I'm going to circle back to one
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: I asked three or four years ago. Uh, it was
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: just Paul and Andy that day. It was the day
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: of the Kevin mumbling while trying to start the show solo,
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: and wanted to get an updated opinion from Paul and
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: also here Fred Deuce and Matissa's opinion. If the entire
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: team was stranded on an island, who do you think
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: would be the first one to float around the idea
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: of cannibalism At the time, Paul's answer was Alan Branch.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: I mean Trent Brown, but I think too nice, Like,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: I don't think he would do it. Shoot on, he'd
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: be nice about it, y'all. Y'all I'm thinking about eating y'all. Yeah,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: that's a good one. I mean definitely, uh, I mean
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: definitely not Mac Mac guys, guys, come on, we gotta
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: be friends. Maybe David Andrews. You know, I'm hungry, David Andrews.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: That's a good one. One of the big fatties, one
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: of the big fatties up front. Maybe those five guys.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: It tastes our five guys. Uh yeah, maybe like Carl Davis,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: like what are those under the radar? Kind of like
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: just guys that look like they're they they had that
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: in them. Maybe, if you know, if Gunner was still here,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I'd say Gunner. He'd be the first one to be like,
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: all right, yeah, get some shrimp. But they might be
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: I and Trent Brown though, I mean like he's probably
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: fegeed a lot of us, you know. Yeah, uh yeah,
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: they'd want to eat Trent Brown. They eat the whole,
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: you know. Tim Wrightson from South Carolina, I've been listening
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: to your show for two weeks now, but I am
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: loving it so far. Wow, a new list season got
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: pulled in by an off season. If you remember Matt
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: from Ohio writing in the last few episodes, that is
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: my older brother, fun little piece of New England info.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Our grandmother went to nursing school with Gilt Santos's wife.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Roberta Okay, wow, Roberta. Also a question for everyone to discuss.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Do you think the Patriots should have stayed where they
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: were in the first round of the draft and taking
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: a guy like McDuffie or even still made that trade
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: with the Chiefs and taking someone like Nakobe Dean instead
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: of Strange. Would love to hear your thoughts, because I
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: wanted them to take McDuffie or another corner still available. Yeah,
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: I mean at the time I wanted I would want
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: I wanted one of those fast linebackers. I did, yeah,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: and then Ad didn't go. I mean, then you find
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: out Dean had injury issues, I kind of take him
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: out of the mix. But yeah, I would have liked
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: to keep mcduffey, especially went to a arrival. I think
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: McDuffie made the most sense. But at the same time,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: you know, size concerns and I don't think that he
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: you know, we'll see how he does in Kansas City.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: But I think, as I said in the radio show,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: just because they took Strange, there wasn't someone else that
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I was like, I can't believe they didn't take. I mean,
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: we could maybe talk about Tamara's guy with Jermaine Johnson,
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: which I think, you know, I might have gotten on
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: board with with that one. But it's hard. I mean,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I think all those guys have do have some questions.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: But I mean, just a guard that that's what I think.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: I mean. The hope is that you know, Strange is
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: just really solid, you know, like a Mankins, and it's like, Okay,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: it was a guard, but he's been on our team
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: for ten years and that was worth it. Yeah, you know,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: you know, but it's like and also too like you say, Mankins,
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: Like Mankins had like a personality, like a like a snarliness.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: He was part of the team's identity, you know. And
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: as much as I think like Strange could step in
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: and be the starter there for ten years or whatever, like,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: I just hope that he's part of that kind of identity.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: Like you know, you're gonna have to be like well
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: Man he said. I mean, you talk to Mankins about
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: the field, and he's as nice as some of that. Yeah,
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Strange could be the same way. I just want to
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: see a little you know, I wouldn't be I wouldn't
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: be upset with did you say it on the air
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: about Mankins punching the guy? Yeah, you know, like I
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: wouldn't be opposed to something like that, you know, just
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: somebody who has that, yeah, you know, like I mean,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: and we we kind of saw it a little bit
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: with with Judeon and Mini Camp when you know, Strange
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: came running over. I mean, I think he'd be the
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: classic guy that's kind of aw shucks off the field
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: and then you know, once it's game time, right, just
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: pain in the butt, a little throwing, little extra business
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: here and there. But I'd like to see that out
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: of him. I want to see some kind of you know,
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: presence that that it's not just okay, he's a solid
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: left guard. He's a he's a tough so ob. You
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: know that other teams are gonna be like, oh man,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: with this guy's going to be a dog fight for
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: the full sixty minutes. Justin writes in from Alabama. Um,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: what would I do without you guys? You all have
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: been my ear since the season Brady left. Wish I
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: would have started listening earlier. Hate that I missed out
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: on Andy. My question today for y'all is what would
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: you be doing if you had not gotten into sports?
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Still be Patriots fans, but made a different career choice.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: I hate that I missed Paul because I love to
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: hear his take. Hope you guys have a great weekend
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: looking forward to camp. What would we be doing if
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: we didn't get into sports? I always said I would
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: love to have been writing comedy for you know, even
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: though yeah, I'll say I'm not funny. Well yeah, I
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: mean as I said before, usually the comedy writers are
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: like the depressed, morose ones, and drama writers are like
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: really friendly and funny. I don't know, I mean, I
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: gave the whole Hollywood thing a try. I got burned
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: out on that though, So that was my start. Maybe
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: if I'd had more success than that, I would have
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: stuck with it, but I never really felt like I
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: loved it. I remember going to Emerson, you know, and
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: that was like all about TV production and writing and
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: all that stuff. Everybody there was there with a purpose,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: and they're telling us that, like the writers for Cheers
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: made seventy grand an episode an episode. I was thinking
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: probably coaching or teaching, but you know, I just wanted
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: to do sports, So yeah, I could say coaching. I
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: really enjoy coaching, Like having the limited experience I've had coaching,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: I mean I love coaches in general. But yeah, that's
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: it's definitely very challenging and also, you know, very satisfying
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: in certain ways to the sport you love, you know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: and just working with kids, and I mean that's what
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I like about refing, you know, just passing the legacy
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: of the game on and seeing the next generation come
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: up and excel, and you know, the excitement that continues
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: to get regenerated for the sport with these coaching before
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: they get the attitude too That's why I love Peewees.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: That's twelve and under. Give me the twelve one unders
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: all day long. They haven't they know, they know how
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: to play the game. They're not little punks yet and
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: it's just you know, they play it kind of the
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: way I think it's supposed to be played. Yet, um,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: you mean skating with a chair in front of the
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Pewees are about eleven and ten? N Okay? Yeah, Mark
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: in the UK writes and as you as you are,
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: like myself a man of more senior years, Fred, your
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: memory may not recall what I'm about to tell you.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Paul certainly won't remember, as it doesn't involve a pre
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: dynastic random Patriots game. Back in late September two thousand
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: and nine, my wife and I attended our first game
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: at Gillette to see the Patriots beat the Falcons. The
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: following week, you kindly allowed me to come into the
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: studio as a guest for an episode of what was
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: then PFW Progress. Most of the talk whilst I was
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: there was about the patriots upcoming trip to London to
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: play the Buccaneers. However, we also talked about soap with
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: a slot back in oh nine, so talking about as
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: the previous night, my wife and I had stayed at
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: the Hotel Buckminster, having been to Fenway for a Red
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: Sox game. In the bathroom of our room, I was
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: confronted with the holy Grail of soap with a slot.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Knowing that I would be seeing you the following day,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: immediately put it somewhere safe to bring along in the show,
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: which I duly did. I still have it as a
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: momentum of that trip, along with other items gathered on
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: subsequent visits to Foxborough with my UK friends. I have
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: attached a couple of photos showing the soap itself and
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: the box that came in with the explanation on the
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: side describing your idea. I must say that the actual
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: bar seems to be more slot than soap. I can
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: confirm that you are perfectly safe opening the photo attachments.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I'm hoping that I may be able to get back
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: to Jelette again this September with some friends for the
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Ravens game. In the meantime, keep doing what you do,
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: especially those offseason shows. Your idea does exist, and he's
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: got a picture of it. It's really it looks more
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: like a donut with like he said, it's mostly whole,
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: so I don't know like how this would work with
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: the other soap. It's too the hole's too big. I
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: just realized, Fred, you probably have a lot of respect
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: for this. The guy who came up with soap on
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: a rope? Huh, Like a guy that changed the soap game.
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: First guy who changed the soap game, Soap on a rope? Guy? Like, Well,
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: we used to have a thing back when we first started.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: It was, you know, we'd bring in new people. We said, well,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: you know, part of the hazing or the you know,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: uh indoctrination is you have to take a shower with
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Bruce Armstrong and soap him up. So and we have
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: one kid like he's buying it. It's like, all right,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: I can have soft hands. Yeah. Uh, let's see what
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: else we got. Um Reno writes in who are your
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: top five most important or best players going into the
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty two season? If you had to say, now,
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: who gets extended? Who would it be? You know who
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: gets extended first? Would it be Barmore or Mac? Also
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: shut out to my new favorite member Alex. Haven't had
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: a favorite since Andy left. Well she's not here today,
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: but anyway, two questions five most important or best players
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: going into the season, Macs number one, Macks number one,
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: DeVante Parker's number two, Barmore's number three. For me, I
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: would have Jude on up there. I think Kendrick Boorne, Okay,
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I could say I mean honestly, I would just say
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: one of the receivers, like one of them has to,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: you know, take take a little bittorn. Yeah, Born and Parker,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: Um couple on the corners down there. Yeah, you got
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: to pick a corner. I don't know, And I'm tempted
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: by by Ray Kawan McMillan. Just you know a guy
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: that might come in and really play a huge role. Um,
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: there's a lot. I mean, I think there's a lot
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: of guy. It's hard to boiler. Who's your Cinderella, Who's
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: your sleeper? Who's the guy that you know we're hoping,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: you know, has a great season and actually will, but
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: we don't know, we have no idea. Um, I don't
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: know if he's a sleeper. But I one guy that
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: I just would throw out there is um is Henry Anderson.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: I know we didn't see much out of him, lad
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: one Um and he was kind of on the bubble
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: I think when when when Coutt's happened, he got hurt
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: and we didn't really get to see him. But I
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: think in the defensive line group, there's just not really
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: any new pieces other than Sam Roberts and Lebrian Ray.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: So I could maybe there's some some potential there with Henrews.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: He's had a couple of good years with the Jets.
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: I know he's a big, tough guy, and I mean
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: I think he's kind of what they need. I don't
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: know for sure though, he could end up cut, but
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: I'm a little bit intrigued just by his return. And
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: you know something that he could offer to this. I
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: think it's Miles Bryant or Butler. I just I need
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: one of the owners to step up, like I know
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: I want. Mine is Pat mcgron. I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: we'll see. I mean, if cam mcgroan comes in and
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: beats out McMillan and mac wilson and you know it
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: is suddenly getting run, I mean, it'd be huge. You'd
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: see it to be kind of meteoric. I don't really
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: expect it. I expect to see I expect Wilson and
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: McMillan to be kind of the two guys with with
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Jawan Bentley and then the and who gets extended first,
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: Barmore or Mac Jones. I think it's tough. I mean
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: if they both do they both do? I mean I
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: think baros an easier Conn. No, I think it's Mac Jones.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: You got to get that quarterback early. I agree. I
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: just think there's more paperwork with the quarterbacks. You just
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: don't know how the market's gonna be. Yeah, it's tough.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: I mean i'd like to say Mac, but I mean
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: there is a feeling and maybe they could get Barmore,
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: But Barmore feels like the kind of guy who's going
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: to be keenly aware of his standing. Just he gets
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: a lot of hype and there's not a lot of
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: guys getting hype on his team right now. And I
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: think he's won that, especially if he has a great
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: year this year, that's he's People are gonna know who
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: he is and with his skill set. I mean it's
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: hard to pry a quarterback from a team. But but
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: a defensive lineman like that, I mean, I know if
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I was elsewhere and saw that guy available, I'd go
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: I'd go all into try to get them. Oh yeah,
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: But it's hard because they haven't extended a lot of guys,
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: like what Adrian Phillips was that the last one? I
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: mean there's you know, there's just not well lately, there
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: hasn't been a lot of you. I mean, I know,
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: a free agency and you bring mcportey back for a
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: couple more. I mean, you know there are guys that
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: they bring back, but guys that they proactively extend right
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: before their contract. I mean that list is I'm thinking
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: fifth year option. They've picked up Jonathan Jones a couple
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: of years ago, Shack Mason a couple of years ago. Yeah. Uh,
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: David and Maine writes in uh, I want to add
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: my two cents to the Patriot Place discussion. My buddies
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: and I were impressed with Wormtown Brewery at Patriot Place.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: Plenty of open space inside and some great october Fest
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: style beers would be happy shout out where we had
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: a Cecily's Yeah, Sionara, that was a really good. Uh,
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: of course there's cbscne Um. I've never been in there. Actually. Yeah,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: they've got a huge TV, huge, a lot of big
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: TVs in this place. Yeah, he gonna get another big
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: one too. Um, let's see there was one I wanted
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: to oh, Neil writes in um he says, I haven't
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: written in in a while, but the following proves I've
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: been listening. One glad to see the end of soap talk.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: Well you haven't seen it too. As a Canadian, I
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: can confirm number four Bobby or is revered as an
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: all time great Canadian hockey player Parry Sound, Ontario. I
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: mean he's from Canada, so yes, they do have some claim.
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: And three Matt Jones's girlfriend seems very sweet and beautiful.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: I hope he sticks with her and stays away from
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: the moms. Like du said, boring is good. I love boring. Yeah,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: she's you know, seems very sweet, just like your classic
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: kind of Alabama Southern Drew Bledsoe. You know he married
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: his high school sweetheart Mara. Yeah, keep it simple. Yeah.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: My question builds on the butterfly effect hypothetical questions. What
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: if instead of picking the kill Harry in nineteen Bill
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: chose one of the following that were picked after him, Deebo,
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Samuel A. J. Brown, McLaurin or DK Metcalf. How are
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: things different today? For example, is Brady still our quarterback?
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Do we make it to the Super Bowl in nineteen.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Every team makes draft mistakes, but it feels like this
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: one's set in motion a lot of future problems we're
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: touching on. Paul asked that earlier, would Brady have still
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: stayed if they had Deebo Samuel or DK Metcalf watching
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: the man in the arena, it just he just seemed
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: like he was burnt out, just you know, kind of
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: seemed to let it out. I don't know, Yeah, I
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: agree with that. I've caught a few of the twenty
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: nineteen games that have been on over the last couple
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: of years, a couple of weeks. I don't know that
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: I've caught a couple, but I don't know. They just
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: looks something off to me about Brady compared to what
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: I see him at Tampa now, Like I feel that
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: like dissatisfied action. But I think it's a good question.
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: I just wonder if it's enough, Like, you know, even
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: if A. J. Brown was drafted, came in had a
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: really good rookie year, Let's say, you know, whatever, Deon
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Branches rookie, you know, he had a solid rookie year
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: in two thousand and two. Is it enough? Is it
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: enough to keep him her? Is it enough to make
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: him happy if he's still throwing them Matt Lacosse and
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Ryan Izzo at tight end and you know all the
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: other like the Mohammed Sanu thing. Like it's just that's
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: why I like, you know, when I look at the
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: depth chart compared to that season, it's like, how can
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: you not look at two twenty twenty two and feel
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: this what you and I feel Fred at least a
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: sense of all right, there's something to work with him.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: You look at that depth chart in twenty nineteen, there's nothing,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: there's nothing there, and you had to go get Mohammed
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: Sanu who gave you nothing too. That was a desperation trade,
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: you know. So I you know, and that you know,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: this all goes back to why I quote unquote hey Brady,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: But it's like what was there for him? Like even
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: was Aj Brown enough? When I don't know, I mean,
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: how how could Aj Brown have even you know, been
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: successful here without a Derrick Henry type running back to
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: kind of help Like he would have been the only
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: thing here. I mean him and Edelman with one leg
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: for what three weeks and then that was it? You know?
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: So I mean it's it's fun to play what if
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: you know? And that's even before you get to would
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: these guys even still be here? I mean, debot, you
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: got it? You were they ready to pony ump after
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: year three with these guys as well, and we just
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: got done talking about how they don't. They haven't really
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: extended anyone, So it's certainly not an easy, easy projection.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Pat and aguam right said, praise Jesus Harry's gone. Seriously, though,
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: I wish nothing but the best for the kid, hopefully
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: makes something of his career in Chicago. I wanted to
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: also give kudos to Paul for a great article on
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: making the case for Craft for the Hall of Fame.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: One deserves to be in there. And one final thing,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: I love Kate Bush, but if you get a chance,
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: check out a cover of Running Up That Hill from
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: an artist called Meg Myers from a couple of years ago.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: She absolutely crushes it. Okay, I mean cover two. What
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: does that have to do with Stranger Things? Though? Yeah,
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: same song? I don't know. Um, let's see. Matt writes
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: in was wondering if Paul or any of you can
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: help me out. We all know Paul's take on the
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: cap being crap. But I don't understand when he says
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: it's about the owner paying the money in it not
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: being the cap. I was on the understanding that you
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: had the yearly salary which goes against that year's cap,
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: and you can pay a signing bonus that gets spread
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: evenly through the years of the deal, so it will
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: still count against the cap. That is all true. I
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: think what Paul is talking about is it's cash spent,
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: so like guaranteed money. Yeah, it's it's the initial outlay
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: and the initial outlay, like even if it's spread out,
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: like there's a certain amount of money that has to
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: be paid in full to the player, you know, the
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: guarante and the guarantee money. And some owners have more
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: fluidity there, you know, to be able to do that,
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: and you still have to fit under the cap eventually,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: but you can just keep pushing it out, pushing it out,
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: pushing it out. I forget what the number was the
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: guaranteed money they gave out last offseason. I want to
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: say one hundred and fifty maybe like somewhere maybe in
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: that ballpark. And I mean, and then I tallied up
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: this year twenty seven, you know, twenty seven. I mean
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: that's the contrast of how different the two different free
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: agent classes were. I mean, yeah, not a lot of
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: guaranteed money, but I mean there's just there's always ways
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: around it. I think that's like, you know, the cap
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: is crap stuff. It's it's certainly a parameter and it's
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: something that you have to consider, right, but there are
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: ways around it if you're willing to, you know, maybe
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: kick some money down the road. Yeah, it's definitely of
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: the major sports, well, baseball really doesn't have a cap,
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: they just have the luxury tax. But of the sports
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: that have caps, Football's a is the loosest. You know,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: you can maneuver more, but you still have to make decisions. Yeah,
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: you know, so it's not totally crap. It forces you
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: to make decisions, right, you can make there's options if
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: you like Paulse's if you really want a guy, you
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: can figure it out. You can, but you have to
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: figure it out, that's the point. And you gotta be
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: willing to maybe do some things that you don't want
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: to do in terms of finances down the road. And
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: you know, i mean, let's talk in twenty twenty five,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: when there's still a dead cap, hit for Devin mccordy,
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: you know, like those are the things that they're doing
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: to get around some of the cap. But I just think, like,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: as I said, the kap of crap. It's a cute
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: you know, hey, it rhymes, but it's well, I think
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: it's lazy. I think it's code for you whatever you want,
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: your owner's cheap, you know, um, you know, And I
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: do think that some times, you know, teams will use
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: the cap as a crutch. You know, we we you know,
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: we had cap problems, Like Paul says, if you really
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: wanted the guy, you could have, but he wasn't worth
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: he wasn't worth us figuring it out, you know, And
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: so it I guess it's semantics, but it's it's not
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: totally crap. It forces you to have to make decisions.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: He says. I'm not against how the Rams do business,
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: but I don't understand how they can have one of
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: the highest paid quarterbacks, the highest paid non quarterback, and
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: also one of the highest paid wide receivers and cornerbacks
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: while still paying the rest of their team when other
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: teams with a lot lesser player in contracts can't. Is
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: there another way to pay players that doesn't count against
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: the cap. Well, at the end of the day, you know,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: you have to look at all their salaries and you
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: know it fits as they figured out how to make
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: it fit. So there's probably a lot of guys on
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: the team that aren't making even middle class salaries, right,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: or you know, or they're just on their rookie deals
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: and they drafted well and they've got guys that actually play.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: For examples, the Seahawks Legion of Boom, like you hit,
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: you built that whole team through drafting and then right,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: looks what happened out to twenty fourteen. They just fell apart.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: You're gonna keep everybody happy, right, There comes a time
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: in September, just before the season where every team has
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: to be under the cap. League said, I don't care
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: how you do it. You can structure your contracts anyway,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: do whatever you want, spread it out, but at this
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: date you have to be under the cap. And there's
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: no way and that in that there's no wiggle role.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: You know. The Falcons last year, right, wasn't it Julio.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: They couldn't sign Kyle Pits until they got rid of
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: Julio because of the calf issues. Right, so they had
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: to make a decision. Yeah. I mean the same thing
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: with the Patriots right now, where they're like, I know,
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: up against it with cap space and I think Carry
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: opened up a million, and you know, but it ultimately
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. But I just I don't think it's
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: that complicated draft. Well, you know, if you draft, well,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: you'll have money elsewhere to spend. If you're able to
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: play third fourth round picks on that salary and they're
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: playing significant roles for you, You've got money to keep
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Aaron Donald and to keep Cooper Cup and to go
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: out and get Matthew Stafford. You know that. That's what
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: it is. It's a draft, and it's the same reason
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: why the Patriots have kind of had a down period
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: right now. We're talking earlier about quarterbacks who maybe would
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: have been good if they Tony says Burt Jones. Remember
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: him with the Colts. I don't remember. You know, Belichick
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: I think was a big Burt Jones fan. I think
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: I remember him talking about, yeah, all right, we're gonna
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: have to end the show. I got things to do.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: I'm very busy. There's a lot happening, So appreciate you listening.
