- 1:08Speaker 3: Red Drum Tackle, the oldest complete tackle shop at Cape Hatteras and the closest to Cape Point in Buxton.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Okay, let's get down to business, or business Offshore fishing breezed up here towards the end of the week a little bit and that kind of shut down things offshore.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But we've been having some great tuna fishing.
- 1:29Speaker 1: The blue fins are still out there.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I would have to say one of the best blue fin seasons we've had in a long time.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Lengthy, consistent, big fish.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Some of the giant blue fin are still out there.
- 1:39Speaker 1: That season is closed but under 73 inches you can keep one.
- 1:43Speaker 1: That's about a 200 pounder.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You can keep, I think, one of those a day on a charter boat or on a recreational boat.
- 1:49Speaker 1: But they're rounding out some catches with some early yellowfin tuna, not boatloads of them, but seven or eight on the dock Fresh yellowfin.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Can you imagine how good that would be on the grill this evening?
- 2:00Speaker 1: So if you want to go out and catch a once in a lifetime big tuna, maybe a few yellowfin tunas, but you can do that out of Hatteras or Oregon Inlet, both places that's a big, wide place to fish and actually for all of the bluefin season they've been ranging from down around Riceville Beach all the way up to Rudy Inlet.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So it's fantastic the weather for the weekend.
- 2:22Speaker 1: As far as I mentioned, they got blown out a little bit this week, but today we're looking at Eastwinds 10 to 15.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And then they're going to ease around to South-South East at 10 to 15.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And you know what that means.
- 2:33Speaker 1: South-south Eastwind.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Around here is rain.
- 2:35Speaker 1: We got some rain coming in but the fish are already wet so you don't have to worry about that.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And then the wind it looks like it's going to come around out of the Southwest, which is a great wind on Sunday.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So that's all pretty good for the offshore forecast.
- 2:47Speaker 1: As far as them getting out there Back in the sound, we have two things going on.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The speckled trout bite is good, but you got to be flexible and be willing to move and try some spots.
- 2:56Speaker 1: A friend of mine had a tailgate covered in speckled trout the other day.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Really, him and a couple of other guys had great fishing, but they went right back to the same place the very next day and didn't even have a bite.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So you got to be willing to try.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Other Swasse's fish are moving around and you got to.
- 3:11Speaker 1: When you find a color that works good in your lure selection, if you don't get a bite on it, change it.
- 3:16Speaker 1: The fish are very picky right now for the colors and the things that they want.
- 3:21Speaker 1: So remember that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Also back a Hatteras a good showing of some puppy drum down that way.
- 3:27Speaker 1: You know I had some of those for dinner last night.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Really good, right up flayed skin, just really delicious in the slot size puppy drum.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So you got that going on back a Hatteras.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And then finally you have inland, the inland and freshwater forecast.
- 3:41Speaker 1: That's a weekend fishery, so going to be a little rain, but you can deal with that.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Sit on your canal bank, get you a nice old canvas chair and light some light tackle and give your favorite crappy hole, or maybe you would like to look a little bit for some of these bass that are starting to show up.
- 3:59Speaker 1: We also have some yellow perch, some catfish, things like that, everything.
- 4:03Speaker 1: All the fish in front are starting to get active right now.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So keep all that in mind before I let you go.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Do not forget you want to do something really, really fun.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Tomorrow, march the 2nd, the Great Bridge Fisherman's Association is having their annual fishing flea market.
- 4:18Speaker 1: That's a big deal.

- 4:33Speaker 1: They also have a website.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They'll give you the cost of time.
- 4:36Speaker 1: What it is, it's just a big flea market in a larger facility.
- 4:40Speaker 1: They keep growing and growing and growing.
- 4:41Speaker 1: But there's new tackle, there's used tackle.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Most of your tackle shops are represented.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It's a great way to spend a late winter day, you know, in Virginia Beach.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So keep that in mind.

- 4:54Speaker 1: And that should get you going for the weekend.
