- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Laura Byrne
- 0:14Speaker 1: and Maddie J's big announcement.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Fans set to pay over $ 9, 000 for Tammy Hembrough's Greek retreat.
- 0:21Speaker 1: As she binds surgery update and our highs and lows
- 0:24Speaker 1: of the week. But first, we need to unpack the
- 0:28Speaker 1: mystery of the Mykonos suitcase.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Look, you've got me intrigued. What has gone on?
- 0:33Speaker 1: So UK influencer Anastasia Kingsnorth shouted around 10 of her
- 0:37Speaker 1: best friends a week in a stunning villa in Mykonos
- 0:40Speaker 1: and she vlogged the whole experience and they spent a
- 0:43Speaker 1: number of nights drinking on the town.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Now, if you fast.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Forward to the second to last day of their trip,
- 0:50Speaker 1: Anna opened her suitcase to discover that someone had been
- 0:53Speaker 1: sick in it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Got a mystery on our hands. Guys, my suitcase has
- 0:58Speaker 3: been done up this whole entire trip, right? We have
- 1:00Speaker 3: just opened it. There's sick in my suitcase and the
- 1:03Speaker 3: full insert with my knickers has been ripped out and
- 1:06Speaker 3: is gone. We have literally not opened this suitcase the
- 1:08Speaker 3: whole entire trip and we can't find the insert anywhere.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And they're sick in it. I've never been more confused.
- 1:15Speaker 1: When I heard this, I was so confused because I
- 1:17Speaker 1: was like, why hasn't she opened her suitcase, which contains
- 1:20Speaker 1: all of her clothes and underwear for the whole trip?
- 1:23Speaker 1: But she did provide some context when she got back home.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So she explained that when she packed her suitcase initially,
- 1:29Speaker 1: there was a little insert and it was where she
- 1:32Speaker 1: put all of her bikinis and underwear.
- 1:34Speaker 2: And when she arrived at the villa, she.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Unpacked her suitcase but left a couple of pairs of
- 1:38Speaker 1: her underwear in there because she had overpacked. I love
- 1:41Speaker 1: that this is so surprising to you, someone actually unpacking
- 1:45Speaker 1: their suitcase when they arrive.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Not something you'd do. No, who can be bothered?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Now, she did end up putting her suitcase to the
- 1:52Speaker 1: corner of the room and she didn't touch it for
- 1:53Speaker 1: the entire trip until the second last day when she
- 1:56Speaker 1: opened it up whilst drunk and clocked that someone had
- 1:59Speaker 1: vomited in there and that her underpants were gone.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So she opens it and there's just vomit and no undies.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah. It looked like someone had got a pair of
- 2:08Speaker 1: scissors and cut out this insert to get the underpants out.
- 2:11Speaker 2: She was running late for a day trip.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So she left her bag like that for 24 hours
- 2:17Speaker 1: and thought, I'll deal with it when I got back home.
- 2:19Speaker 2: The smell. It would have reeked.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Well, and the thing is she showed video of this
- 2:24Speaker 1: suitcase and there were a ton of clothes in there.
- 2:26Speaker 1: She had her curling wand in there. All of it
- 2:29Speaker 1: would have that smell attached to it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It would have been disgusting.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Now that night when she finally got back from the
- 2:34Speaker 1: day trip, she asked her friends if they had anything
- 2:37Speaker 1: to do with it.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Here's what she said.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And I asked everybody in the house multiple times if
- 2:43Speaker 4: it was them and everybody has told me it's not.
- 2:45Speaker 4: So I genuinely have no idea what has happened to
- 2:49Speaker 4: my suitcase. Somebody came up with a theory that we
- 2:52Speaker 4: got broken into because on one of the nights we
- 2:54Speaker 4: came back and when the doors was wide open, so
- 2:56Speaker 4: everybody was like panicking, checking their stuff straight away. Like,
- 2:59Speaker 4: oh my God, is anything gone? Nothing had gone, which
- 3:01Speaker 4: was the really weird thing. So everyone kind of came
- 3:04Speaker 4: up with a theory of like, did they come in
- 3:05Speaker 4: and they went to like open my suitcase to take
- 3:07Speaker 4: a load of things? And then because they were drunk,
- 3:10Speaker 4: they were sick, panicked, cut it out, dispose of the piece,
- 3:13Speaker 4: put the suitcase back and left.
- 3:15Speaker 1: This was the best bit of the vlog because why
- 3:18Speaker 1: would someone break into your villa, not bother taking the
- 3:21Speaker 1: expensive vlogging equipment that was there or the laptops or
- 3:25Speaker 1: your jewelry, but stumble across a case... cut out some
- 3:29Speaker 1: undies and then vomit in it. Like it makes no sense.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm no detective, but it's pretty obvious that this was
- 3:35Speaker 1: one of her friends who has vomited in the suitcase
- 3:38Speaker 1: and not had the nerve to tell her. Yeah, especially
- 3:40Speaker 1: considering she's just shouted them an all expenses paid trip.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Like you're hardly going to say, oh yeah, that was
- 3:45Speaker 1: me who ruined all of your stuff by vomiting all
- 3:48Speaker 1: over it. I think they've got thrown over the underpants
- 3:51Speaker 1: being stolen and they're reading too much into that. Like
- 3:53Speaker 1: they think some kind of creep has gone in, stolen
- 3:56Speaker 1: these underpants, But I think one of the friends has
- 3:58Speaker 1: just gotten drunk, cut them out and thrown them off
- 4:00Speaker 1: the balcony. Well, they were talking about what a huge
- 4:04Speaker 1: piss up this weekend was and that people were absolutely obliterated.
- 4:08Speaker 1: So perhaps one of her friends can't actually remember doing it.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But it is so clear it's one of the friends.
- 4:13Speaker 1: But the friends seem to be trying to point fingers
- 4:15Speaker 1: at other people. So they said that maybe it was
- 4:18Speaker 1: the pool guy there or the superintendent of the villa
- 4:21Speaker 1: or the cleaners. So they made the staff at the
- 4:24Speaker 1: villa check through security cameras. And they said that they
- 4:27Speaker 1: couldn't see anyone entering the villa. So that also squashes
- 4:30Speaker 1: the chances that it was a robber who went there.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So well, Anastasia even asked her audience on YouTube, like,
- 4:37Speaker 1: what do you guys think? Write in the comments below.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And I laughed so much reading some of these comments.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So someone wrote, I would be fuming if I paid
- 4:44Speaker 1: extra to book my mates a holiday for one of
- 4:46Speaker 1: them to be sick in my suitcase and cut it up.
- 4:49Speaker 2: What a joke.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Someone else wrote, But surely no money or belongings were taken,
- 4:54Speaker 1: just vomit and a cut up suitcase.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Someone's lying, Anna.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Another person wrote, she really has some shit friends, to
- 5:00Speaker 1: be honest. Maybe this is all a rage baiting technique
- 5:05Speaker 1: to get people to comment and engage with the video
- 5:07Speaker 1: because it is so obvious that this is one of
- 5:10Speaker 1: her friends.
- 5:10Speaker 2: It's going to be really, really good.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough has celebrated her one year anniversary with her fiance,
- 5:18Speaker 1: Matt Zukowski. And hasn't so much happened in a year?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because just.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Four months into their relationship, they got engaged in the Maldives.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Then there was that scandal after the Grand Prix where
- 5:29Speaker 1: Matt got caught out DMing a random girl. We then
- 5:32Speaker 1: had the wedding invite leak. And now we are just
- 5:35Speaker 1: three months out from their nuptials. I am so excited.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I want to thank them for providing the goods. There's
- 5:41Speaker 1: been so much to talk about this year with Tammy
- 5:43Speaker 1: and Matt.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there really has been.
- 5:44Speaker 1: And to mark the occasion, Tammy shared a series of
- 5:47Speaker 1: photos of the couple hugging and And she wrote year
- 5:50Speaker 1: one of and did the affinity emoji. She also included
- 5:54Speaker 1: a photo of the presents Matt got her. And so
- 5:56Speaker 1: if you'll be pleased to hear that he has now
- 5:58Speaker 1: upgraded from the service station flowers. Yeah, I saw he
- 6:01Speaker 1: bought her a really stunning bunch from a florist. I
- 6:03Speaker 1: wonder if he's listened to this podcast. There is no
- 6:06Speaker 1: shame with the service station flower. I just think it's
- 6:09Speaker 1: the thought that counts. I mean, Dale got me Audi
- 6:12Speaker 1: flowers the other day and he said, sorry, these are Audi.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But I thought of you. Yeah, it's better than nothing.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It's definitely a step in the right direction. I really
- 6:21Speaker 1: like that Matt went to the effort of giving Tammy
- 6:23Speaker 1: a keepsake gift. So he collected all of the corks
- 6:27Speaker 1: from the champagne bottles that they had consumed together. And
- 6:30Speaker 1: on each of the corks, he wrote down exactly where
- 6:33Speaker 1: they were or what they were doing when they had
- 6:35Speaker 1: had the champagne. Yeah, and on the lid of the
- 6:38Speaker 1: huge jar that these corks were in, Matt wrote, Dear Tammy,
- 6:41Speaker 1: happy one year to you, always and forever, and wrote
- 6:44Speaker 1: the date. But what was a bit weird is that
- 6:47Speaker 1: the date is actually in a couple of weeks' time,
- 6:49Speaker 1: so they are celebrating this one-year anniversary early.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm not quite sure why.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Tammy shared a photo of her holding some of the corks,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and I spied that a few of them were from
- 6:58Speaker 1: the Maldives.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And also their trip to Port Lincoln. So I love
- 7:01Speaker 2: that South Australia got a bit of a shout out there.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I wonder if any of these corks were from the
- 7:06Speaker 1: Grand Prix, because they seemed.
- 7:07Speaker 2: To have quite a large night that night.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Matt seemed to, and he said he was popping a
- 7:12Speaker 1: lot of bottles of champagne, but I get the feeling
- 7:14Speaker 1: they don't want to remember that night.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they were probably left out.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I always wonder with these keepsake gifts, for someone like Tammy,
- 7:20Speaker 1: would she really want a jar of corks up in
- 7:24Speaker 1: her aesthetically pleasing house? I think that she would love it.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's always very cute when your partner does something sentimental.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I remember growing up, we had a few jars of
- 7:34Speaker 1: corks as decorations.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Maybe this is a 90s thing that is coming back
- 7:37Speaker 2: in fashion.
- 7:38Speaker 1: In the photo that Tammy shared where she was holding
- 7:40Speaker 1: the corks, it was quite unfortunate because her leg was
- 7:43Speaker 1: positioned in this way where it was a bit of
- 7:46Speaker 1: an optical illusion. So you could only see her body
- 7:48Speaker 1: and it looked like she had this pregnant belly when
- 7:50Speaker 1: it was just her knee. And it did lead to
- 7:53Speaker 1: a couple of people writing in saying, oh my God,
- 7:55Speaker 1: are you actually pregnant?
- 7:56Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 7:58Speaker 1: I feel so bad for them having to cop those
- 8:00Speaker 1: comments because Matt has been really open talking about the
- 8:02Speaker 1: fact he's actually infertile. Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And the couple have said.
- 8:06Speaker 1: That they want to investigate all of their options once
- 8:09Speaker 1: they're married. So it's not something they probably particularly want
- 8:12Speaker 1: to talk about right before their wedding. Now, there was
- 8:15Speaker 1: also something else that people noticed in this photo dump.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And it was that Matt's nose appeared to be blurred
- 8:22Speaker 1: in one.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Of the photos. It almost looked like he didn't have
- 8:24Speaker 2: a nose.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, in the photo, he is kissing Tammy's forehead.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And I think what's happened here is that she was
- 8:30Speaker 1: blurring maybe a blemish on her face and she's accidentally
- 8:34Speaker 1: gone into his nose. And being a typical girl, usually
- 8:37Speaker 1: you only look if you look okay in the photo
- 8:39Speaker 1: and you're like, oh yeah, that looks great. But not
- 8:41Speaker 1: realizing your partner's nose has disappeared. It looks like they
- 8:45Speaker 1: celebrated with a really fancy dinner. So Tammy posted photos
- 8:49Speaker 1: of herself in a plunging black gown. And she is
- 8:52Speaker 1: just a few weeks out from her breast revision surgery.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And her boobs were getting a lot of attention in
- 8:58Speaker 1: the comment section. One follower wrote, you should be in
- 9:01Speaker 1: your post-op bra girl. Whilst another said, the girls are girling.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Matt added, hottest woman alive and she is mine. going
- 9:09Speaker 1: to put it out there.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I quite like Tammy and Matt now.
- 9:11Speaker 1: They've had a few bumps in the road, but the
- 9:13Speaker 1: more I see of them on TikTok, the more obvious
- 9:16Speaker 1: it is that they have a real chemistry together. I've
- 9:19Speaker 1: never seen Tammy look so happy. And they do look
- 9:22Speaker 1: really good together. It's kind of like Barbie and Ken
- 9:24Speaker 1: are getting married. And also, I always really liked Matt
- 9:28Speaker 1: on his podcast.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he's quite funny.
- 9:30Speaker 1: There's been a few incidents like the Grand Prix that
- 9:32Speaker 1: have put a few question marks over his behavior.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But I can forgive it because I am just desperate
- 9:36Speaker 2: to see this woman get married. We've had a few
- 9:38Speaker 2: false starts. I want to see what her wedding is
- 9:41Speaker 2: going to be like. I want to see the dresses
- 9:43Speaker 2: that she'd choose.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Well, she's going to be very busy in the lead
- 9:46Speaker 1: up to the big day because a month out from
- 9:48Speaker 1: the wedding, she's holding a retreat in Greece. And this
- 9:51Speaker 1: is in conjunction with the release of her book, So
- 9:54Speaker 1: to refresh your memories, Tammy released a book a few
- 9:57Speaker 1: months ago, which was a biography which also included a
- 10:00Speaker 1: mix of motivational content. And the retreat is called Show Up,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and it's being held in Greece between the 21st and
- 10:08Speaker 1: 27th of October. Yeah. And it's being touted as this
- 10:12Speaker 1: intimate and exclusive event where pretty much you're going to
- 10:16Speaker 1: hang out with Tammy Hembrough as if she's a friend.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And there's only 19 spots available. So on the website,
- 10:22Speaker 1: it says you were invited to live a week accompanied
- 10:25Speaker 1: by Tammy Hembrough in Greece for a transformative experience. Here's
- 10:29Speaker 1: how Tammy described the event.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's going to be really, really good. And I'm excited
- 10:35Speaker 2: to get to know personally, like each and every one
- 10:39Speaker 2: of the people that are going to be on this trip.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I'm really excited.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Now, this six day retreat is not cheap. So the
- 10:46Speaker 1: accommodation is included in the price, but the flights are not.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So you have to pay to get yourself there on
- 10:52Speaker 2: top of this.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Now in the ticket for this retreat, it includes workshops
- 10:56Speaker 1: with Tammy, daily brunches and dinners, transport, a couple of
- 11:00Speaker 1: extra experiences and goodie bags, which I'm sure are sponsored.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Now there are two different packages. So you can either
- 11:08Speaker 1: select your own private room or you can have a
- 11:11Speaker 1: shared room where you'll be put in with a random.
- 11:14Speaker 2: So how much is a ticket? Well, so if you
- 11:16Speaker 2: are open to sharing with a.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Random, it is $ 8, 238. And if you want your own
- 11:23Speaker 1: private suite, it's $ 9, 885.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Do you get to share with Tammy for eight grand?
- 11:28Speaker 1: No, I don't think she'll be staying within the vicinity
- 11:32Speaker 1: of this villa.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I was super curious.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So I did a reverse image search of the villas
- 11:37Speaker 1: that Tammy shared on her website. And they're a collection
- 11:40Speaker 1: of three villas. So one of the villas holds 10
- 11:43Speaker 1: people and the other two hold six people. So the
- 11:46Speaker 1: villa that holds 10 people costs you $ 130 a night
- 11:50Speaker 1: per person, which I thought was quite reasonable. So that
- 11:53Speaker 1: works out to $ 916 for.
- 11:56Speaker 2: You to stay there a week.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Now, the other villa that holds six people is $ 172
- 11:59Speaker 1: a night per person. working out to around $ 1, 204 a week. Wait,
- 12:05Speaker 1: so you're basically paying $ 8, 000.
- 12:08Speaker 2: On top of that for the Tammy experience and food?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Pretty much. And doing the math further, so the accommodation
- 12:14Speaker 1: in total is costing Tammy and her team $ 23, 681. Yet
- 12:16Speaker 1: the 19 tickets for their total retreat work out to
- 12:18Speaker 1: be $ 171, 355. So if we take away the money for accommodation.
- 12:29Speaker 1: That's leaving her and her team around $ 147, 674. Now, obviously,
- 12:35Speaker 1: some of that money does go into activities and the logistics,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but still, that is a fair chunk of money for
- 12:42Speaker 1: a seven-day retreat where you're basically living it up in
- 12:45Speaker 1: Greece and hanging out with a bunch of people doing
- 12:48Speaker 1: breath work.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 1: How much of that do you think Tammy's being paid? Well,
- 12:51Speaker 1: she is running the retreat through a travel and media company,
- 12:55Speaker 1: which is called AW Adventurer. And she's done retreats before
- 12:59Speaker 1: in Bali. So I'm not exactly sure how this agreement works.
- 13:03Speaker 1: If the tour company just takes a percentage or if
- 13:05Speaker 1: Tammy takes a percentage. I was intrigued to see how
- 13:08Speaker 1: much of this trip Tammy was actually involved in. So
- 13:11Speaker 1: I had a look at the itinerary and on day one,
- 13:14Speaker 1: it says that Tammy will do a meet and greet
- 13:16Speaker 1: with the guests. Then on day two, she has a
- 13:18Speaker 1: question and answer session. And on day three, she will
- 13:21Speaker 1: hold a workshop on affirmations. Then most of the days
- 13:25Speaker 1: follow a similar formula where the morning starts with a
- 13:28Speaker 1: workout followed by meditation, journaling, and brunch. Then there is
- 13:32Speaker 1: a daytime activity like hiking, swimming, massages, or yoga. There's
- 13:37Speaker 1: also a sailing boat trip, but it's not clear if
- 13:40Speaker 1: Tammy is actually going to be on the trip. There
- 13:43Speaker 1: was a photo of her on a boat on in
- 13:44Speaker 1: the Greek islands with her kids on the website. But
- 13:47Speaker 1: I have a feeling Tammy won't be there. I think
- 13:49Speaker 1: she's only going to show up for these three spots. Yeah, well,
- 13:52Speaker 1: the wording is also interesting on the website because it
- 13:55Speaker 1: keeps saying, with guidance by Tammy Hembrough or accompanied by Tammy.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And I think that they're subtly trying to drop, look,
- 14:02Speaker 1: she's going to pop in and out, but she's not
- 14:04Speaker 1: going to be here the whole time if that's what
- 14:05Speaker 1: you're expecting. Is there anyone you'd actually pay $ 8, 000 to
- 14:09Speaker 1: go on a retreat with? Because the only person I
- 14:12Speaker 1: can think of is Taylor Swift. Yeah, well, I paid
- 14:16Speaker 1: $ 1, 200 for a ticket. So I think that I'd pay
- 14:17Speaker 1: $ 8, 000 to.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Have a couple of workshops with her.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I wonder if Matt and the kids are going to
- 14:22Speaker 1: fly over and they'll treat this as a bit of
- 14:24Speaker 1: a holiday because surely you're not going to fly all
- 14:26Speaker 1: of that way to Greece just to be there for
- 14:28Speaker 1: six days and fly home. As this is a month
- 14:31Speaker 1: out from their wedding, I wonder if we're actually going
- 14:34Speaker 1: to see a Euro wedding because when their invite was leaked,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Tammy came out and said, we've had to change our plans.
- 14:42Speaker 1: kind of referring maybe they weren't going to hold it
- 14:44Speaker 1: in Byron Bay anymore. So, I mean, potentially they could
- 14:47Speaker 1: do some private nuptials over there.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think this wedding is still going to be in Australia.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I mean, we saw Tammy taste testing the food at
- 14:54Speaker 1: the caterers in the Gold Coast the other day. So
- 14:57Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to suddenly move everything over
- 15:00Speaker 1: to Europe.
- 15:01Speaker 2: We're fresh in, rolling off the Logies.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Laura Byrne and Maddy J have revealed they purchased a
- 15:07Speaker 1: holiday home on the south coast of New South Wales.
- 15:11Speaker 1: When making the joint announcement, they described it as a
- 15:13Speaker 1: dilapidated old house saying it is a little glass house
- 15:17Speaker 1: on the seaside filled with stories and a history that
- 15:19Speaker 1: has been left locked up and empty for the past
- 15:22Speaker 1: two years. I always find it interesting when influencers make announcements.
- 15:27Speaker 2: About property because if you're in the public eye.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You almost have to do the opposite of what real
- 15:32Speaker 1: estate agents do. So whilst agents will always talk up
- 15:36Speaker 1: a house and say what prime real estate it is,
- 15:38Speaker 1: influencers will often have to downplay it and try to
- 15:42Speaker 1: not make people jealous. And they still also want to
- 15:45Speaker 1: appear to be one of the people. And it's this
- 15:47Speaker 1: weird juggling act that you see them having to do. Well,
- 15:50Speaker 1: the description didn't really match the photos because the view
- 15:54Speaker 1: from this house is insane. There was a photo of
- 15:57Speaker 1: Maddie J sitting on the couch. And behind him is
- 15:59Speaker 1: a huge window. And this house is right on the beachfront.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Oh, it looks beautiful. Now, there is a bit of
- 16:06Speaker 2: salt damage on the exterior of the house.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And Laura showed that their carpets have mold on them.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And there's a very old looking kitchen. But I don't know.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I wouldn't necessarily describe it as dilapidated.
- 16:17Speaker 1: We haven't been there. So we don't know the full
- 16:19Speaker 1: extent of it. But it's all location, location, isn't it?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Oh, exactly.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Now, I do want to say thank you to So
- 16:24Speaker 1: Dramatic because they have done the heavy lifting on this one.
- 16:27Speaker 1: They reported that the holiday home, set the couple back $ 2.
- 16:31Speaker 2: 19 million.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Now the property spans 746 square meters and has three bedrooms,
- 16:37Speaker 1: two bathrooms, a study and a fresco area.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Now the couple also made headlines.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Last year when they purchased their $ 5. 2 million home in
- 16:46Speaker 1: North Bondi. I think some people were shocked to hear
- 16:50Speaker 1: that Maddie J and Laura actually have so much money,
- 16:53Speaker 1: but I personally wasn't surprised because Laura Byrne works incredibly hard.
- 16:58Speaker 2: She's got a job on radio. She does her highly
- 17:01Speaker 2: successful podcast.
- 17:02Speaker 1: She's got her own business. Matty J's just released a book.
- 17:05Speaker 1: He has his own podcast. He's got his finger in
- 17:07Speaker 1: a lot of pies doing influencer work. It's not shocking
- 17:10Speaker 1: that they have this type of money to drop on property. Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: but I think people were shocked because their brand is
- 17:15Speaker 1: built on relatability. They don't often brag about their possessions
- 17:19Speaker 1: or they don't show much of their house off. It
- 17:21Speaker 1: will only just be in the background of whatever they're filming.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So I think that that's what led to some people
- 17:27Speaker 1: being surprised, but I think overall people were quite happy
- 17:29Speaker 1: for them because they do come across as such a lovely,
- 17:33Speaker 1: wholesome Aussie couple. I think people were happy to see
- 17:36Speaker 1: them succeed. And I also think because they were careful
- 17:39Speaker 1: about the way that they broke the news because some
- 17:42Speaker 1: other influencers like Karina Irby will be like, oh yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I just bought this.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Didn't put much thought behind it. Yeah, whatever. No big deal.
- 17:49Speaker 1: But they were very calculated in what they wrote. So
- 17:52Speaker 1: they outlined that it's a very sentimental place for them.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Well, not calculated, more thoughtful in.
- 17:57Speaker 1: The way that they actually told their audience about it. Yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 1: because they said this is a sentimental place for us.
- 18:02Speaker 1: We got married here. We're so excited for our children
- 18:04Speaker 1: to experience it. Well, they actually seem to be appreciative
- 18:08Speaker 1: of it. Yeah, and they were probably worried how followers
- 18:10Speaker 1: would respond because we've seen Sarah's day cop a lot
- 18:12Speaker 1: of criticism over her second home that she's purchased. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: there is this trend where, as you mentioned at the
- 18:19Speaker 1: start of this segment, Soph, where women have to sort
- 18:21Speaker 1: of play down their achievements. And it's funny because if
- 18:24Speaker 1: this was Mitch Third, for example, and he had bought
- 18:27Speaker 1: this house, he would have been raving about it saying
- 18:29Speaker 1: what a great guy he was and that this is
- 18:31Speaker 1: how much it costs. I still think people would think
- 18:33Speaker 1: he was a toss bag for doing that though. Like
- 18:35Speaker 1: I don't think that that would have been well received.
- 18:36Speaker 1: But there's definitely a different way that men and women
- 18:40Speaker 1: share online about their achievements. Well, there were a couple
- 18:43Speaker 1: of questions in the comment section around whether Matty J
- 18:47Speaker 1: and Laura will be keeping both properties. So a follower wrote,
- 18:50Speaker 1: does this mean you'll be selling your North Bondi house?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Because we don't need any more landlords or people pricing
- 18:56Speaker 1: locals out of their own area. Now, Laura responded saying
- 19:00Speaker 1: this house is completely uninhabitable currently, and it has been
- 19:04Speaker 1: sitting empty for two and a half years.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Eventually, yes, we will live here.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Which I found very interesting because I wonder what it
- 19:10Speaker 1: means for their careers. Because The location of this new
- 19:13Speaker 1: house is.
- 19:14Speaker 2: About three hours out of the CBD.
- 19:16Speaker 1: We are constantly seeing Maddie J popping up on different
- 19:19Speaker 1: TV shows. Laura has her radio station where she has
- 19:22Speaker 1: to go into an office to record. Sorry. Laura has
- 19:27Speaker 1: her own radio show where she has to go into
- 19:29Speaker 1: a studio to record.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Is this because Brit Hockley.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Is eventually planning on moving overseas and they've got to
- 19:35Speaker 1: do things remotely?
- 19:36Speaker 2: Am I reading too much into this?
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think that's a pretty big call. We'll have to
- 19:39Speaker 1: wait and see what happens there. But I think it's
- 19:41Speaker 1: more so saying, oh, eventually we will live there. Maybe
- 19:45Speaker 1: they'll live part-time there and part-time in North Bondi.
- 19:48Speaker 2: God, I'd move there for the view.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Now, in this announcement, they also revealed that they are
- 19:53Speaker 1: going to be launching a renovations page. I was very
- 19:57Speaker 1: excited to see this because I'm always looking for inspiration.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So they wrote, we don't know what we are doing
- 20:02Speaker 1: or what this house will become, but if you want
- 20:04Speaker 1: to follow along the chaos while we restore this old beauty...
- 20:08Speaker 1: Honor its joyous little quirks and resist the millennial urge
- 20:11Speaker 1: to paint everything white. You can follow us here. I
- 20:14Speaker 1: think paint everything white. That's very millennial of me. But
- 20:18Speaker 1: as soon as Dale and I moved into our house, gosh,
- 20:22Speaker 1: the paintbrushes were out and we were painting everything. Well,
- 20:24Speaker 1: they shared their Pinterest board last night and I was
- 20:27Speaker 1: quite surprised to see the bright colors that they're already
- 20:30Speaker 1: going for. So Maddie J wanted to paint the bathroom
- 20:33Speaker 1: this really bright blue color with.
- 20:34Speaker 2: A pink tile and Oh, I don't know how I
- 20:36Speaker 2: feel about that. Well, at least it's going to be interesting.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Now, in the space of just a couple of days,
- 20:41Speaker 1: this account now has over 63,000 followers. So I'm really
- 20:45Speaker 1: interested to see how many sponsors jump on because it's
- 20:49Speaker 1: a great opportunity to promote your product. Like, are we
- 20:51Speaker 1: going to see them with a Bunnings sponsorship or Mitre 10? Oh, yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 1: because Laura and Matt are well known for making really
- 20:57Speaker 1: funny content as well. And I can just see Matt
- 21:00Speaker 1: getting around the Renault content. It's kind of like the
- 21:02Speaker 1: social media version of the blog, isn't it?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yes, yeah.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Fitness influencer Ashi Bynes has received devastating news following her
- 21:11Speaker 1: planned brain surgery. Now, back in March, she was diagnosed
- 21:14Speaker 1: with a brain aneurysm after experiencing sudden loss of vision.
- 21:19Speaker 1: And it has been a really frustrating wait for Ashi
- 21:21Speaker 1: because she was locked in for surgery in July before
- 21:25Speaker 1: it then got pushed back to August. So it's been
- 21:27Speaker 1: a real waiting game for her. And she has been
- 21:30Speaker 1: documenting the process on her Instagram and TikTok. And straight
- 21:34Speaker 1: after she came out of surgery, she revealed that the
- 21:37Speaker 1: surgeons were able to remove the aneurysm, but they discovered
- 21:40Speaker 1: that there was a second aneurysm that they weren't able
- 21:43Speaker 1: to remove in the process. So she will have to
- 21:46Speaker 1: have another surgery before the end of the year.
- 21:49Speaker 2: That is just awful.
- 21:51Speaker 1: And as she said, I can't count how many times
- 21:54Speaker 1: I've cried because I'm absolutely devastated, but I just have
- 21:57Speaker 1: to be strong and know that I can do hard
- 21:59Speaker 1: things and get through this. I'm so grateful that they
- 22:02Speaker 1: found both of these aneurysms and that I can get
- 22:04Speaker 1: surgery because they obviously can be fatal. And the recovery
- 22:08Speaker 1: process has been much more difficult than she anticipated. She
- 22:12Speaker 1: said that after her surgery, she was awake for nearly
- 22:15Speaker 1: 28 hours straight, which would be horrendous. She's also now
- 22:19Speaker 1: on blood thinners for the next 12 months and explained
- 22:22Speaker 1: that it's incredibly dangerous if she misses a day because
- 22:26Speaker 1: it could lead to a stroke. But she said because
- 22:28Speaker 1: she's in such a good routine of taking her supplements,
- 22:31Speaker 1: hopefully this won't be an issue for her. Let's get
- 22:34Speaker 1: into our highs and lows of the week. I'm going
- 22:36Speaker 1: to kick it off with my high. And I'm giving
- 22:38Speaker 1: my husband brownie points. So he surprised me yesterday with
- 22:42Speaker 1: a pair of new running shoes because.
- 22:44Speaker 2: We have been saying that we've been seeing everyone getting
- 22:47Speaker 2: into run club, but we want to do our own
- 22:49Speaker 2: little run club together with our dogs.
- 22:51Speaker 1: So my current sand shoes were full of holes.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Like they were just disgusting. From Archie or? No, just
- 22:59Speaker 2: I had them for so long. They got so dirty.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I've been wearing them when we've been doing renovations. Look,
- 23:04Speaker 1: I don't want to call you out, but I am
- 23:05Speaker 1: looking at the new shoes. They are very cool, but
- 23:08Speaker 1: you are rocking a very ugly ankle sock. And what's
- 23:12Speaker 1: hilarious is recently, because we've been filming the podcast a lot,
- 23:16Speaker 1: there have been times where I've taken like a still
- 23:19Speaker 1: photo of you or like videoed you wide showing your
- 23:22Speaker 1: shoes and And you will have one no-show sock and
- 23:25Speaker 1: one ankle sock.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And it is very shameful. It is very shameful. I
- 23:29Speaker 2: don't know where all my socks go.
- 23:31Speaker 1: This is what happens to me. I bought a couple
- 23:33Speaker 1: of the cool crew socks and they've.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Just fucking disappeared in my house.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think this is part of having a dog. Like
- 23:38Speaker 1: I don't know where he stores these socks.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I think it's because female socks are so small. Like
- 23:42Speaker 2: they're hard to actually keep a track of. Sometimes like
- 23:45Speaker 2: they don't all get in the washing machine. Anyway, I'm
- 23:47Speaker 2: not very good at that now.
- 23:49Speaker 1: My low of the week is that I have never
- 23:50Speaker 1: felt so old in my life until I entered Glasses.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Like I don't regularly shop there, but I really wanted
- 23:57Speaker 1: one of their linen shirts. I have been looking for
- 23:59Speaker 1: a blue and white striped linen shirt. Well, I was
- 24:02Speaker 1: with you and you've never looked so uncomfortable because you
- 24:05Speaker 1: got ushered into this change room and they actually, I
- 24:08Speaker 1: didn't even know they did this.
- 24:10Speaker 2: They write your name on the door.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And the girl who was serving you looked like one
- 24:15Speaker 1: of Millie Ford from TikTok's characters. Yeah, I had no
- 24:18Speaker 1: idea when she's like, what's your name?
- 24:19Speaker 2: And I'm like, why? I wanted to give her a
- 24:21Speaker 2: fake name. So they can be like, and Sophie, babe,
- 24:23Speaker 2: how's it going in there?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I did not want to come out because, you know,
- 24:26Speaker 1: usually I want to show you guys because I was
- 24:28Speaker 1: trying on a few pairs of jeans, which were a
- 24:30Speaker 1: disaster as well. I ended up buying the shirt and
- 24:33Speaker 1: they do have a couple of cute things in there.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I just wish they didn't have jewelry or shirts with
- 24:38Speaker 1: 1989 written on there because that is my year of birth.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And growing up, you'd always see those shirts and it
- 24:44Speaker 1: would almost be ironic because it's like, yeah, that was
- 24:46Speaker 1: a long time ago. I kind of like it though.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It just reminds me of Taylor Swift's album, 1989. Look,
- 24:51Speaker 1: my low of the week was being sick. Like I'm
- 24:55Speaker 1: actually a lot better now. My high is I've been
- 24:58Speaker 1: influenced by Molly May. So I think it was two
- 25:01Speaker 1: weeks ago now she shared a photo of a colouring
- 25:04Speaker 1: book and some texters.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And when I was in.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Officeworks today purchasing a new SD card for our machine
- 25:10Speaker 1: that keeps fucking up, I found some beautiful texters and
- 25:14Speaker 1: a colouring book involving cats and dogs. And I'm getting
- 25:18Speaker 1: so excited to actually colour in the pages tonight. I
- 25:22Speaker 1: think I need a bit of a relaxation thing.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Well, how much were the texters? Because I want to
- 25:26Speaker 2: go get some.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Oh, I think, look, I ummed and ummed about getting them.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There's about 60 coloured texters. I think they.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Were $ 35 and the colouring book was $ 5.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Look, I keep seeing TikTok videos where it's like really
- 25:38Speaker 1: satisfying to watch people colour in with those texters.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Well, I think we should be allowed to have two
- 25:44Speaker 1: lows of the week because I know you told me
- 25:46Speaker 1: not to touch on this, but I have to get
- 25:48Speaker 1: it out there. This is the second time that we
- 25:50Speaker 1: are also recording this episode.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Oh, it's been insane.
- 25:53Speaker 1: You rang me and this time I was in the shower,
- 25:55Speaker 1: not on the toilet, in the shower, and you rang
- 25:57Speaker 1: me to say, actually– Thursday's episode is gone as well.
- 26:01Speaker 2: And it was a different problem this time. It wasn't
- 26:04Speaker 2: the microphone. It was the SD card. Who knows that
- 26:06Speaker 2: you spend so much money on a new device and
- 26:08Speaker 2: have so many fucking problems. Each episode.
- 26:11Speaker 1: So we have had to re-record each episode twice.
- 26:15Speaker 2: So we put out three episodes. We've done six recordings
- 26:17Speaker 2: this week and it's only Wednesday. Yeah. I'm exhausted from it. Well,
- 26:21Speaker 2: I hope you guys enjoyed it. But that's all we
- 26:23Speaker 2: have time for. I think it was better the second
- 26:25Speaker 2: time actually. I don't know. I think we did a
- 26:26Speaker 2: better job.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I actually thought that the previous one was– anyway. I digress,
- 26:30Speaker 1: but that is all we have time for. Hopefully you
- 26:32Speaker 1: do hear from us on Thursday and this has worked. Yes,
- 26:36Speaker 1: we have definitely gone and purchased some new SD cards.
- 26:39Speaker 2: We've got new cords.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I mean, we've got everything. So if it doesn't work,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I don't know what we're going to do. But thank
- 26:44Speaker 1: you for listening.
- 26:44Speaker 2: If you did enjoy it, could you please leave us
- 26:46Speaker 2: a five-star review? I feel like we.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Deserve some five-star reviews after recording this a couple of times.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Even just for persistence, for persistence.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yeah. This episode was recorded on the traditional land of
- 26:56Speaker 1: the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect
- 26:59Speaker 1: to elders past and present. And don't forget to follow
- 27:01Speaker 1: Outspoken on Instagram and also on TikTok at Outspoken underscore
