- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stu Gotson Company Live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We are out in Lake Tahoe for the American Century
- 0:24Speaker 1: Pro Am Golf Tournament. We're out here every single year.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I am praying that all this equipment works. I have
- 0:30Speaker 1: no idea and I have no confidence because mikey A
- 0:32Speaker 1: currently can't hear me right.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Now, so that is problematic.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm sitting okay, I am sitting very close to Taylor,
- 0:41Speaker 1: about ten feet away.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Taylor, can you hear me?
- 0:45Speaker 4: I can hear you because I'm ten feet away from you,
- 0:47Speaker 4: and I can hear you because I think the connection
- 0:49Speaker 4: is working.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Okay, Well, that's a good sign.
- 0:52Speaker 1: We have the we can observations coming up here in
- 0:56Speaker 1: about fifteen minutes.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Roger Bennett Gold to join us as well in hour number.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Two, Monday Night Football Tonight as the United States plays
- 1:06Speaker 1: the biggest soccer game in the history of United States soccer. Taylor,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I am told before we get to your evening last night,
- 1:13Speaker 1: I am told there's been an appeal of the of
- 1:16Speaker 1: the appeal of a red card for our guy.
- 1:19Speaker 3: So what has happened here with Belgium?
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah, so FIFA Appeal committee has rendered the request by
- 1:26Speaker 4: Belgium inadmissible and said Baligan is allowed to play tonight.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:32Speaker 4: The Belgians, however, they continue to fire a warning shot
- 1:36Speaker 4: saying that they will continue to contest the eligibility of
- 1:39Speaker 4: Belligan and say they told us Soccer they reserve all
- 1:43Speaker 4: options if he is selected on the team sheet tonight.
- 1:47Speaker 5: But what do you what are the options?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Wow? What I do, Mikey? I do?
- 1:54Speaker 1: I believe I've identified one of the technical problems here.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Taylor is so close to me, And what a slight
- 2:00Speaker 1: delay here in Lake Tahoe. And we'll be out of
- 2:02Speaker 1: the driving range tomorrow. We'll have all the sights and
- 2:04Speaker 1: the sounds and the guests and the stories that you
- 2:07Speaker 1: want out of a Lake Tahoe week. But I can
- 2:09Speaker 1: hear Taylor, okay, actually saying what it is he's saying,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and then it comes into my headset seconds later, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: so it's a little bit problematic.
- 2:17Speaker 3: He's sitting a little bit too close to me. I mean,
- 2:20Speaker 3: so I don't know what to do about it, other
- 2:22Speaker 3: than kick tailor around and tell him to get further away.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know what to do.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No, No, now walking away?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Now walking away?
- 2:34Speaker 5: The only one of us that watches soccer.
- 2:36Speaker 1: No, Well, listen, I watched soccer last night. It was
- 2:38Speaker 1: the greatest game I've ever seen last night. Who played
- 2:40Speaker 1: in it? So we're gonna get to the weekend observations.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Taylor is currently moving five feet to his left. I'm
- 2:49Speaker 1: not certain that's gonna help it all, but he is
- 2:51Speaker 1: making the effort to try and move in Israel Goudiere.
- 2:55Speaker 1: As of course, we can't find him today, so we
- 2:59Speaker 1: have no idea what is going up. But we're out
- 3:01Speaker 1: in Lake Tahoe. It is the biggest soccer game in
- 3:03Speaker 1: the history of soccer tonight. I'm looking forward to watching it.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I don't know how I feel about the red card
- 3:09Speaker 1: being overturned.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Mikey.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It's unprecedented, It's never happened. But I will tell you this.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Taylor's walking outside now. I will tell you this is
- 3:16Speaker 1: tah a week at its best. Right now. I'll tell
- 3:19Speaker 1: you this. It is unprecedented, But I feel like we've
- 3:22Speaker 1: arrived as a soccer country, as a soccer team, because
- 3:26Speaker 1: now corruption. We are into the corruption of FIFA and
- 3:30Speaker 1: the World Cup where everyone is seemingly making it up
- 3:34Speaker 1: as we go along here, and for me, it's a
- 3:38Speaker 1: sign that the United States men team has made it.
- 3:41Speaker 3: We have arrived at corruption.
- 3:43Speaker 1: We have arrived at a president calling the head of
- 3:45Speaker 1: FIFA and overturning a red card, something that has never
- 3:49Speaker 1: been done in the history of soccer.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yet it has been done for us, and I'm excited
- 3:53Speaker 3: about that.
- 3:55Speaker 6: I'm sure everything you just said was profound and wonderful,
- 3:59Speaker 6: but I couldn't help just watch as Taylor carried his
- 4:03Speaker 6: laptop outside and took a walk. I've been admiring the
- 4:07Speaker 6: scenic view of Tahoe.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Yeah, just been.
- 4:10Speaker 6: It's breathtaking and I'm jealous that I'm not there. But
- 4:14Speaker 6: it is good that we finally arrived to a place
- 4:16Speaker 6: where we're throwing our weight around at the United States,
- 4:20Speaker 6: where we're like.
- 4:21Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
- 4:22Speaker 6: Our best player plays, don't care what you have to say,
- 4:26Speaker 6: and this is what we're gonna do.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Let's kick it to Taylor, who's outside. Now, Taylor, go ahead.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Let's just call this what it is. Belgium wants an
- 4:35Speaker 4: easier matchup. If I'm a Belgium player, I'm looking around
- 4:38Speaker 4: at this outrage from the Belgium side and saying, I
- 4:43Speaker 4: don't think they think we could win this matchup without
- 4:45Speaker 4: Belligan not playing for the United States.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We do have sound, I am told back, you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks of Donald Trump explaining that, explaining his.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Role in it.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And I do want to hear that because the United States,
- 4:59Speaker 1: for lack of better term, played their trump card. Let's
- 5:02Speaker 1: listen to that sound. This is the President of the
- 5:04Speaker 1: United States explaining his role in all of this.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Gut.
- 5:08Speaker 7: It will look like two guys collided, which is really
- 5:10Speaker 7: what happened. They got sort of entangled. He didn't do
- 5:15Speaker 7: anything wrong, and he's our best player, or one of
- 5:17Speaker 7: our best players. A very any game, a red card.
- 5:20Speaker 7: I didn't know what that meant. I didn't think it
- 5:22Speaker 7: meant much. Then I started hearing that that means you
- 5:24Speaker 7: can't play in the next game, at least in the
- 5:28Speaker 7: next game. I said, boy, that's a big You know,
- 5:31Speaker 7: if it happened to another player, it would have been unfair.
- 5:34Speaker 7: But when they take your best player or just about
- 5:37Speaker 7: They have some great players. But and they say you
- 5:40Speaker 7: can't play. That's very unfair. That's you know, it's one
- 5:43Speaker 7: thing to penalize somebody for the game, but how do
- 5:46Speaker 7: you penalize them for a game that hasn't been played yet.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It's very unfair. You can't do that.
- 5:50Speaker 7: So yes, I asked for a review by FIFA.
- 5:55Speaker 1: All right, So that's Donald Trump's role, like, congratulations to
- 5:58Speaker 1: the president. And he started watching soccer right around the
- 6:01Speaker 1: same time as the rest of us.
- 6:03Speaker 3: He had no idea what a red card was. What
- 6:07Speaker 3: do you got like, so.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Peek behind the curtain. Here.
- 6:11Speaker 6: I went and watched soccer with my friend who gets
- 6:14Speaker 6: up every every day that there's soccer in England and
- 6:17Speaker 6: he watches Bundesliga, he watches Premier League champions right, he
- 6:20Speaker 6: watches all that stuff. And I went to his house
- 6:23Speaker 6: to watch the game. And I have never sounded so
- 6:27Speaker 6: much like Donald Trump that when he said, what's a
- 6:31Speaker 6: red card? What does that mean? He has to stop?
- 6:33Speaker 6: Red means stop? What do you mean he can't play tomorrow?
- 6:35Speaker 6: What do you mean he can't play in the next game?
- 6:37Speaker 6: That was exactly my reaction.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yes, we all agree. In the moment, no one thought
- 6:43Speaker 1: it should have been a red card. No one thought
- 6:45Speaker 1: that he should be out not only for the remainder
- 6:46Speaker 1: of that game, but for the entirety of the next game.
- 6:50Speaker 3: We all agree with that.
- 6:51Speaker 1: But the call was made and a red card was given,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and that means he's supposed to be sitting out tonight.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And the President of the United States, because he finally
- 7:00Speaker 1: figured out we're pretty good at soccer like the rest
- 7:01Speaker 1: of us. I am not criticizing him, decided to make
- 7:04Speaker 1: a call. And I do wonder how soccer fans feel
- 7:07Speaker 1: about it. The President making a call to FIFA to
- 7:10Speaker 1: overturn a call which is unpresidented, and having a guy
- 7:13Speaker 1: who shouldn't be playing playing in tonight's game, I mean,
- 7:16Speaker 1: is it is kind of crazy.
- 7:19Speaker 4: European soccer fans right now ste are outraged over this.
- 7:22Speaker 4: But there was a similar incident that happened before the
- 7:25Speaker 4: World Cup. So in Portugal's second to last competitive match
- 7:29Speaker 4: before the World Cup, Ronaldo earned a red card and
- 7:32Speaker 4: FIFA decided, hey, you're going to be suspended three games now.
- 7:36Speaker 4: So he was suspended once before the World Cup, and
- 7:39Speaker 4: then he was supposed to be suspended the first two
- 7:41Speaker 4: games of Portugal's group stage, but FIFA looked at it
- 7:44Speaker 4: and said, we kind of need Ronaldo in this World Cup.
- 7:48Speaker 4: We're gonna lift his band. Let Ronaldo play because of
- 7:51Speaker 4: the spectacle of Portugal and Ronaldo in the World Cup.
- 7:54Speaker 4: I don't remember hearing anybody really that outrage that FIFA
- 7:57Speaker 4: said Ronaldo's allowed to play. But the second America gets
- 8:00Speaker 4: involved in this, you would think we were the back
- 8:03Speaker 4: to back to back World Cup champions. With the way
- 8:05Speaker 4: people are outraged over Bawgan being allowed to play.
- 8:08Speaker 1: They probably agree that Ronaldo. They do need Ronaldo and
- 8:11Speaker 1: they want to see Ronaldo, and so they probably agree
- 8:13Speaker 1: with that. And from the United States standpoint, the reason
- 8:17Speaker 1: they disagree with this is we haven't earned it. We
- 8:19Speaker 1: haven't earned corruption, we haven't earned the president making a
- 8:22Speaker 1: call to the head of FIFA and trying to get
- 8:24Speaker 1: something over turned, and so they're outraged. They don't want
- 8:26Speaker 1: the United States like, listen, the last thing the rest
- 8:29Speaker 1: of the world wants because this is Europe's game, this
- 8:33Speaker 1: is South America's game. It's like us taking hockey from Canada.
- 8:37Speaker 1: The rest of the world doesn't want us to take
- 8:39Speaker 1: men's soccer, because we already dominate women's soccer. They don't
- 8:43Speaker 1: want us to take men's soccer away from that. That
- 8:45Speaker 1: is something that is European. That is something that is
- 8:48Speaker 1: reserved for France, for Norway, for South America, for Brazil.
- 8:52Speaker 3: They do not want.
- 8:53Speaker 1: The United States getting any sort of advantages when it
- 8:57Speaker 1: comes to this sport, a sport that we started four
- 9:00Speaker 1: minutes ago.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Yeah, Mikey, while I agree with you, and I think
- 9:05Speaker 6: you're one hundred percent right, how outraged would you be
- 9:09Speaker 6: if all of a sudden, like Switzerland was dominating American football?
- 9:13Speaker 6: You'd be outraged. You'd be so angry back, No, no, no, no,
- 9:16Speaker 6: they can't have that.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Right, like Switzerland had the best team in the NFL
- 9:19Speaker 1: somehow we expanded out to Europe at Switzerland had the
- 9:22Speaker 1: dominant team in the NFL.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd be upset, I would, and so WoT you, Taylor.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Not if they came and earned it and you saw
- 9:32Speaker 4: the struggles of the Switzerland team coming up, where it's
- 9:35Speaker 4: it's loss after loss after a loss, and then all
- 9:38Speaker 4: of a sudden you're hearing the Swiss report saying they've
- 9:41Speaker 4: got a golden generation coming, and people, people even in
- 9:45Speaker 4: Switzerland are doubting this so called Golden Generation, and then
- 9:49Speaker 4: the Golden Generation finally shows up and they start performing.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Just a reminder, the United States has not beat Belgium
- 9:56Speaker 4: in a competitive match since nineteen and you would have
- 10:01Speaker 4: no idea of that stat with the way that Belgium
- 10:05Speaker 4: is acting so outrage over the fact that a red
- 10:08Speaker 4: card that shouldn't have even been a red card. Vv
- 10:12Speaker 4: R broke their own protocols even handing out that red card,
- 10:15Speaker 4: which is something that they're seemingly leaving out of every time.
- 10:19Speaker 4: They're saying, this is the darkest day in FIFA FIFA history,
- 10:24Speaker 4: organization that has been littered with corruption, but somehow this
- 10:28Speaker 4: is the darkest day.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Yes, now, they've had darker ones, and they'll have darker
- 10:32Speaker 1: ones moving forward. Here I assure you of that the
- 10:35Speaker 1: darkest day will be if the United States men's team
- 10:37Speaker 1: wins the entire Cup. No one's going to know what
- 10:41Speaker 1: to do with themselves if indeed that happens.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I do understand the outrage. I do.
- 10:47Speaker 1: There was a red card issued, and that red card
- 10:49Speaker 1: signifies that he's supposed to be sitting out tonight's gabe.
- 10:52Speaker 3: And if you're Belgium.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Of course, if you're a fan, if you're a member
- 10:55Speaker 1: of that team, you are upset because you have spent
- 10:57Speaker 1: a week preparing for a team without him, and now
- 11:00Speaker 1: you have to prepare for him, And so I understand
- 11:02Speaker 1: why they're upset. No one disagrees. There is not a
- 11:05Speaker 1: single person on the planet that disagrees. It never should
- 11:08Speaker 1: have been a red card, but it was, and now
- 11:10Speaker 1: they're doing something that's fairly unprecedented at World Cup.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Plot here here, Belgium. Here's my world's smallest violin that
- 11:17Speaker 4: I'll play for the off the way out here.

- 12:29Speaker 1: at some point here, hopefully by tomorrow when Lake Tahoe
- 12:32Speaker 1: and the celebrity program really kind of kicks in here. Taylor,
- 12:36Speaker 1: we are not the first media members to show up here.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You were making fun of us earlier on the podcast.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I did see part of my take as well, so people,
- 12:44Speaker 1: we're not the only ones who showed up on a Monday.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Look how excited he is, Mikey just at the mere
- 12:49Speaker 1: fat big Cat at BFT or here.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I mean, so, I was listening to part of my
- 12:55Speaker 4: take on the plane ride here. I was downloading a
- 12:57Speaker 4: bunch of episodes on the plane and they they asked
- 13:00Speaker 4: a question or they had somebody like call into their
- 13:03Speaker 4: podcast and ask a question that I wanted to bring
- 13:05Speaker 4: to you. Guys, somebody breaks into your house. They don't
- 13:10Speaker 4: steal anything, they don't do anything. They just come pin
- 13:14Speaker 4: you down and tickle you for ten minutes. Do you
- 13:17Speaker 4: report that to the police.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So someone breaks into my hat, Well, I report them
- 13:25Speaker 1: to a mental institution for doing that. I'm not certain
- 13:29Speaker 1: if I, Well, do I report them to the police.
- 13:31Speaker 1: They have broken into my house, they haven't taken anything,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but they decided to tickle me. I'm not ticklish, by
- 13:37Speaker 1: the way. Uh, and they just decided to tickle me
- 13:39Speaker 1: for ten minutes? Am I calling the cops? Mikey calling
- 13:42Speaker 1: the cops?
- 13:42Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know that I could feel more
- 13:47Speaker 6: violated than if you size down and tickle me till
- 13:53Speaker 6: I can't breathe.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Yeah, so you're selling.
- 13:55Speaker 3: The cops right.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You're saying, hey, take my money, Like, stop tickling me,
- 13:59Speaker 1: take my money?
- 14:00Speaker 3: What do you do it here? Take a bunch of stuff?
- 14:04Speaker 4: Oh, Mikey. Now imagine this scenario. Officer Smith pulls up
- 14:09Speaker 4: to your house and is like, what's the police report
- 14:11Speaker 4: you want to file? And you have to look this
- 14:14Speaker 4: officer in the face and say, another grown man pinned
- 14:18Speaker 4: me down and tickled me, and then the officer is
- 14:20Speaker 4: gonna be like, and then what and then he's you're
- 14:22Speaker 4: gonna be like and then he just left.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Yeah, he assaulted me, is how I would say it.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Well, what he did was he made it so I
- 14:30Speaker 6: couldn't breathe he touched me in an inappropriate manner.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yes, well he brought let's let's listen for starters. He
- 14:37Speaker 1: broke into your home. Okay, he's not supposed to be
- 14:40Speaker 1: in your house, and somehow he lands inside your house
- 14:45Speaker 1: and then doesn't deal with a normal you know, person
- 14:47Speaker 1: who's trying to break into a house would do, which
- 14:50Speaker 1: is steal stuff. This person decides so most people, when
- 14:54Speaker 1: they walk in, they're trying to make sure you stay
- 14:55Speaker 1: asleep so they could steal everything. This person is now
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't know who this person is. This is crazy.
- 15:01Speaker 1: This person decides to break into your house and not
- 15:03Speaker 1: keep it quiet and not try to steal anything, actually
- 15:06Speaker 1: wakes you up by tickling. I mean it's yes, I
- 15:09Speaker 1: would call the cops now that I'm thinking about it.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yep, he stole my dignity, steal my stuff. Don't take
- 15:18Speaker 3: my dignity, I mean, I'm with you. I don't know
- 15:20Speaker 3: what word just came out of my mouth right there.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I was trying to say dignity. It's a tough word
- 15:24Speaker 3: for me, anyway, go ahead tell it.
- 15:27Speaker 4: So the biggest follow up question I saw from this
- 15:31Speaker 4: discourse on part of my take about this tickler, it
- 15:35Speaker 4: matters what the tickler looks like, because they made the
- 15:38Speaker 4: argument if the tickler is a beautiful woman, maybe you're
- 15:43Speaker 4: not reporting that, because then it's even more embarrassing that, oh, oh,
- 15:47Speaker 4: what happened to you? Oh beautiful woman held you down
- 15:49Speaker 4: and tickled you for ten minutes and then left your
- 15:52Speaker 4: house without saying anything else.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Right, So the cops are like, what do you want
- 15:54Speaker 3: me to do with that? Yeah, Mikey's been I'm waiting
- 16:00Speaker 3: for that night for a long long time. Michael's Mike.
- 16:08Speaker 3: He's not calling the cops. He's inviting him back.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Same time next week.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Oh my god. So good.
- 16:17Speaker 1: The United States, this is gonna be so interesting Today
- 16:19Speaker 1: Roger Bennett and joined US an hour number two, and
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'm very much looking forward to to speaking with him.
- 16:25Speaker 1: This is so interesting because I think there is I
- 16:29Speaker 1: think there's part of the US soccer soccer fan base
- 16:32Speaker 1: that wants the United States to kind of win this
- 16:35Speaker 1: thing and win it the right way.
- 16:36Speaker 3: And this doesn't feel right now.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Maybe it does in terms of FIFA because corruption is
- 16:41Speaker 1: everywhere when it comes.
- 16:43Speaker 3: To that entity.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But this is the part of soccer that really frustrates
- 16:46Speaker 1: a lot of people.
- 16:47Speaker 3: It seems like the rules are being made up as
- 16:49Speaker 3: we go along.
- 16:50Speaker 1: There's too much acting, there's too much you know, gamesmanship,
- 16:54Speaker 1: there is too much making it up on the fly
- 16:56Speaker 1: in terms of the referees at FIFA and how they
- 16:59Speaker 1: decide on these. So I'm guessing there is a portion
- 17:02Speaker 1: of the American fan base that is not happy that
- 17:05Speaker 1: this red card was overturned. Only from this standpoint, the
- 17:08Speaker 1: pressure is all on the United States to win this game,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and if they win, they're still going to be criticized
- 17:13Speaker 1: for winning this game.
- 17:14Speaker 4: You know, if I could draw a parallel to the
- 17:18Speaker 4: Knicks postseason run, when the Knicks are going through Atlanta
- 17:22Speaker 4: and Philadelphia and Cleveland along the way in the Eastern
- 17:26Speaker 4: Conference and everybody's saying, oh, you didn't beat Boston, you
- 17:29Speaker 4: didn't really beat this challenger. We're going to put an
- 17:31Speaker 4: asterisk next to your title if you win a title.
- 17:34Speaker 4: A title with an asterisk is still a title at
- 17:37Speaker 4: the very least. So if the United States does go
- 17:40Speaker 4: on this magical run and they win the World Cup
- 17:43Speaker 4: and the rest of the the rest of the world
- 17:45Speaker 4: wants to say, hey, your World Cup title has an
- 17:48Speaker 4: asterisk next to it, I'll still take that World Cup trophy.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I try telling Jim Harbi he didn't win a national
- 17:54Speaker 1: championship in Michigan. I mean, is the point I guess you,
- 18:00Speaker 1: mikeyy okay, with a World Cup championship that has an
- 18:02Speaker 1: asterisk next to it.
- 18:05Speaker 5: You could put twelve asterisks.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Necessarily, I'm taking that trophy, and I'm telling the rest
- 18:10Speaker 6: of the world come get it, and if you don't
- 18:14Speaker 6: like it, my president will call your president and take.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Care of it.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Do you think of the World Cup we're being played
- 18:20Speaker 1: anywhere else that red card would have been overturned?
- 18:22Speaker 3: I mean, what do you think?
- 18:27Speaker 6: Probably not, because then it wouldn't be as big of
- 18:29Speaker 6: a draw to have the United States in. You have
- 18:32Speaker 6: the home country still in. Canada is already out, now
- 18:36Speaker 6: Mexico is out. You've got one left that can possibly
- 18:40Speaker 6: make a run to keep some of these home fans involved.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Why not keep them in a little longer, Yeah, or
- 18:46Speaker 5: at least give them the opportunity.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I guess what do you think would draw bigger ratings
- 18:52Speaker 1: tonight's game, which is Monday Night Football? Or if the
- 18:56Speaker 1: Raiders played the Chargers on Monday Night Football?
- 19:00Speaker 3: Wrong two teams, wrong two teams, wrong teams. I think
- 19:04Speaker 3: it would be Raiders Shorgers. I did, and it would
- 19:08Speaker 3: be a landslide.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And even if it were a preseason game, that game
- 19:11Speaker 1: would still get higher rating than the soccer game tonight.
- 19:14Speaker 3: I am so wrong about this.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 19:18Speaker 2: Live weekdaycent three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Roger Bennet could have joined us at about fifteen minutes
- 19:27Speaker 1: get us ready for tonight's game.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Got an interesting text here. We're out in Lake Tahoe.
- 19:33Speaker 1: We'll be out on the driving range tomorrow talking to
- 19:36Speaker 1: many of the participants, players, celebrities that are out here.
- 19:39Speaker 3: We come here every year. We love it here at
- 19:41Speaker 3: the Edgewood Tahoe Resort.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Taylor is currently in a tent right outside the media
- 19:46Speaker 1: center because I'm in the media center and our MIC's
- 19:49Speaker 1: were too close together.
- 19:51Speaker 3: But I did get an interesting text here.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Over the fourth of July weekend, we all did in
- 19:55Speaker 1: a group text from Mikey A, might need to play
- 19:58Speaker 1: hand up early this week. Just did something I am
- 20:01Speaker 1: both embarrassed and extremely proud of myself for doing. And
- 20:05Speaker 1: it was it was set with a picture of Mikey
- 20:08Speaker 1: I believe, at a beach on the fourth of July. So,
- 20:12Speaker 1: Mikey A, we don't have time for hand up, but
- 20:15Speaker 1: we do have time to hear this story about you
- 20:18Speaker 1: being both embarrassed and extremely proud of yourself for doing.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You didn't break into someone's house and tickle anyone, did you?
- 20:24Speaker 5: I mean, no, no, no, I didn't do that.
- 20:28Speaker 6: But I was, like I said, we were at the
- 20:31Speaker 6: beach and a bunch of the kids were out on
- 20:33Speaker 6: floats and they're having a good time.
- 20:35Speaker 3: And there was.
- 20:35Speaker 6: One kid who was somebody's who lives down the blocks,
- 20:40Speaker 6: grandson or whatever, and he was how do I put
- 20:44Speaker 6: was he was.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Not a well behaved child, right, And this kid was
- 20:50Speaker 8: he had a water gun and he's shooting my kids
- 20:52Speaker 8: in the face with it and they're going, all right, stop,
- 20:54Speaker 8: and I'm like, all right, come on, leave him alone,
- 20:55Speaker 8: leave them alone, and it got to the point where
- 20:58Speaker 8: the kid started like they were on paddle boards and
- 21:02Speaker 8: he was knocking them off the paddle boards.
- 21:04Speaker 5: And I'm like, okay, now, now I've had it a
- 21:07Speaker 5: few drinks.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I swim on out there and I said, I'm
- 21:12Speaker 6: just going to go out and tell the kid to stop.
- 21:14Speaker 5: And I got out there and I flipped his raft.
- 21:19Speaker 6: And I'm thinking about it now, Yes, and I don't
- 21:21Speaker 6: think I'm embarrassed anymore. I think I'm just proud of myself.
- 21:24Speaker 6: I just went out there and flipped the kid's raft.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yes, But you went out there and did the thing
- 21:28Speaker 1: that you were upset that he was doing to everyone else.
- 21:30Speaker 5: I mean, he was being a bully. You know.
- 21:33Speaker 6: He happens when you were a bully. There's always a
- 21:35Speaker 6: bigger bully.
- 21:37Speaker 1: You get flipped over on your paddle board, right, you
- 21:39Speaker 1: fight fire with fire, I guess. I mean, you know, Taylor,
- 21:43Speaker 1: how do you feel about this?
- 21:44Speaker 5: Do something different?
- 21:45Speaker 3: I know.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But you went out there and you went out there
- 21:47Speaker 1: with the idea of let me talk to this kid,
- 21:49Speaker 1: let me talk to him rationally, let me teach them
- 21:51Speaker 1: a lesson, let me tell him why it is he
- 21:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be doing what it is that he's doing to
- 21:56Speaker 1: all these other kids. And I'm telling you, it's just
- 21:58Speaker 1: a kid being a kid, and there's always that kid
- 22:00Speaker 1: who's going to do that kind of stuff. You went
- 22:02Speaker 1: out there with good intentions, and when you got out there,
- 22:05Speaker 1: somehow those good intentions turned into you being a kid,
- 22:09Speaker 1: being the kid that you were angry at, being the
- 22:11Speaker 1: kid that you despised in that moment.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yes, Taylor, if I was that kid's parents and I
- 22:17Speaker 4: saw mikey A flip my kid, no matter what my
- 22:20Speaker 4: kid was doing, mikey A is about to catch these hands.
- 22:24Speaker 6: First off, nobody saw it because I did it stealthily.
- 22:28Speaker 5: I did it from right, Okay, so I did it stealthily.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Secondly, the kid was spoken to several times by several people.
- 22:37Speaker 6: The whole rational be becind that went out the window
- 22:41Speaker 6: once once you started flipping my kid in the deep end.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Right right.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But I guess Taylor's point is, hey, don't parent my kid.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I'll parent my kid. And your response to that would
- 22:50Speaker 1: have been, hey, well, then, parents that you done it,
- 22:53Speaker 1: we're all telling him to stop, and you're the only
- 22:55Speaker 1: people not telling him to stop.
- 22:56Speaker 3: You're encouraging it. Yes, you want to know what happens.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if your kid is entertained, and if
- 23:04Speaker 1: entertaining means flipping other kids over on paddleboards and your
- 23:07Speaker 1: kid's not bothering you on the fourth of July at
- 23:09Speaker 1: the beach, you're okay with it.
- 23:11Speaker 3: As the parent it's.
- 23:14Speaker 6: And you're absolutely right, and that you also have to
- 23:17Speaker 6: be okay when another father comes out there and flips
- 23:19Speaker 6: that kid on.
- 23:20Speaker 1: The raft do you have to be But I mean,
- 23:22Speaker 1: that's really the genesis of all of this. But those
- 23:25Speaker 1: parents not baroning their kid is they were happy for
- 23:28Speaker 1: the first time all afternoon. Their kid was finally leaving
- 23:31Speaker 1: them alone. And they don't care what the kid is doing.
- 23:34Speaker 1: They don't care if the kid is breaking into a
- 23:35Speaker 1: house at tickling. People just leave us alone. We're having
- 23:38Speaker 1: beers at the beach. And therefore they weren't barning their kid,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and you decided to go do it.
- 23:43Speaker 3: For that, I'm proud of you. Mikey.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Hey, my kid And by the way, Taylor, my kid
- 23:47Speaker 6: is seven and this kid was like twelve. So we're
- 23:51Speaker 6: not talking like, oh, this is two eight year olds
- 23:53Speaker 6: having a good time. We're talking like, okay, this is
- 23:57Speaker 6: this is borderline psychotic.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Here, Yes, Taylor, what happened to you last night?
- 24:03Speaker 1: Because we had an interesting scenario where you're trying to
- 24:06Speaker 1: get into a hotel. Now, listen, we don't want to
- 24:08Speaker 1: bash anyone here out in Tahoe.
- 24:10Speaker 3: We love it here. We're invited back. There are very
- 24:13Speaker 3: very few media entities that are invited out here. We've
- 24:17Speaker 3: been coming out here forever. There was a time where
- 24:19Speaker 3: it was just me in a local radio station in
- 24:21Speaker 3: Kansas City, and now it's grown just a little bit.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Dan Patrick's going to be out here. He's got a
- 24:26Speaker 3: big set. PFT and Big Cat are going to be
- 24:30Speaker 3: out here.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Part of my take, So everyone is going to be
- 24:35Speaker 1: out here in Lake Tahoe. I kind of enjoyed it
- 24:38Speaker 1: a little bit more when it was just us because
- 24:41Speaker 1: you know, the guests would come on more frequently. It
- 24:43Speaker 1: was easier to get guests on. But last night we
- 24:46Speaker 1: got in here. It's a tough place to get to,
- 24:48Speaker 1: especially from South Florida Reno, Nevada. You have to take
- 24:51Speaker 1: at least two flights to get out here, and then
- 24:53Speaker 1: once you take those two flights, it's like a forty
- 24:55Speaker 1: five minute drive. And I got out here early yesterday.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I'm at the edge of Tahoe, a very nice resort
- 25:01Speaker 1: in a beautiful room, and I might have a second
- 25:04Speaker 1: room for Taylor. Depends on my wife and what she
- 25:06Speaker 1: decides to do. But Taylor, what happened last night with you?
- 25:09Speaker 1: Because you got to your hotel and apparently your hotel.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And the only reason I'm asking is I woke up,
- 25:14Speaker 1: had to go to the bathroom about one o'clock in
- 25:16Speaker 1: the morning, which is four Eastern time, okay, And what
- 25:19Speaker 1: I saw on my phone terrified me.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Mikey. What I saw on my phone.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Was four misscalls from Taylor in seventeen texts coming from Taylor.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And I didn't know what to do because I was
- 25:28Speaker 1: exhausted and I just needed to sleep.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Taylor, what happened last night?
- 25:34Speaker 4: So I have a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Denver.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I have a layover in Denver and then Denver to Reno.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Then I have the Uber drive, the hour plus Uber
- 25:44Speaker 4: drive that Stu is talking about, to get from Reno
- 25:47Speaker 4: to Lake Tahoe. By the time I get in it's
- 25:50Speaker 4: ten thirty. I've been traveling for ten plus hours. At
- 25:54Speaker 4: this point, I just want to smooth experience. When I
- 25:57Speaker 4: get to the hotel. I get to the hotel and
- 26:00Speaker 4: I say, hey, I'm here to check in Sunday to Saturday.
- 26:03Speaker 4: They're saying, hey, we see your name. You're not supposed
- 26:06Speaker 4: to be here till tuesday. And I go flatly, that
- 26:10Speaker 4: just can't be right, That just logistically cannot be right.
- 26:15Speaker 4: So they're looking and they're double checking, and the manager's
- 26:18Speaker 4: coming over. And then the manager comes over and says, Okay,
- 26:22Speaker 4: we figured out a way to get.
- 26:23Speaker 5: You in today.
- 26:26Speaker 4: You're gonna have to check out Tuesday, then go to
- 26:28Speaker 4: your original room assignment Tuesday, and then check out Saturday.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Because everything was moved in the reservation by two days,
- 26:35Speaker 4: so they had me checking in two days later and
- 26:38Speaker 4: checking out two days later. They say, we could get
- 26:40Speaker 4: you in this room stud the price they gave me
- 26:44Speaker 4: because the room the room rate had changed. The price
- 26:48Speaker 4: they gave me was not a price that I could afford.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So that's when I'm texting Scott Shapiro. I love Scott
- 26:56Speaker 4: Shapiro does a great job helping us out here.
- 26:58Speaker 5: President.
- 26:59Speaker 4: iHeart I'm texting the the the contact he gave me,
- 27:02Speaker 4: the third party of the person who did the booking.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I'm texting both those people. But now at this point
- 27:08Speaker 4: it's eleven pm out here. Yes it's even later on
- 27:12Speaker 4: the East Coast with the time change. So now I'm thinking,
- 27:16Speaker 4: I don't know what to do right now. So I
- 27:18Speaker 4: finally think, hey, let me just call Stu Gots and
- 27:20Speaker 4: see what Stu Gotts has to say. Yeah, Mikey, I
- 27:23Speaker 4: called Stu Gotts. I called Stu Gots. I text you Gots,
- 27:26Speaker 4: I text you Gots. I'm just sitting in this lobby
- 27:28Speaker 4: thinking I can't get a room right now. I don't
- 27:31Speaker 4: know what to do. I don't know anybody out here.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Let me let me call Stu Gots, because Stu Gotts
- 27:35Speaker 4: is a mentor of sorts. He could at least help me.
- 27:38Speaker 4: He's less than a mile away. Stu Gotts goes, why
- 27:41Speaker 4: are you? Why are you reaching out to me? That
- 27:43Speaker 4: was basically the response I got from Stu Gotts when
- 27:45Speaker 4: when he woke up. I'm not in charge of your
- 27:48Speaker 4: room handling. I'm like, hey, I need help, buddy.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Yes, I had visions of Taylor. I was going to offer.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I was going to offer for him to sleep in
- 27:55Speaker 1: my room, which and had I offered for you to
- 28:00Speaker 1: sleep in my room. If you had a choice sleeping
- 28:02Speaker 1: right next to me in my room or sitting in
- 28:05Speaker 1: the lobby and just sleeping in a chair, which one
- 28:08Speaker 1: would you have chosen?
- 28:09Speaker 3: I mean.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I probably would have taken the chair.
- 28:15Speaker 3: I mean, what did you want me to do? I
- 28:17Speaker 3: texted you at nine o'clock last night, which is which
- 28:20Speaker 3: is midnight Eastern, that I'm exhausted that I had to
- 28:23Speaker 3: go to sleep, and I went to sleep. I don't
- 28:25Speaker 3: know what you want me to do.
- 28:26Speaker 4: I mean, stude the second you texted me at eight
- 28:31Speaker 4: thirty Lake Tahoe time, I'm exhausted, I'm going to sleep.
- 28:34Speaker 4: I'm looking at my phone, my ETA saying ten thirty.
- 28:37Speaker 5: I go.
- 28:38Speaker 4: If I even run into a slight hiccup, I know
- 28:42Speaker 4: I am in trouble because Stu Gotts is out for
- 28:44Speaker 4: the count.
- 28:45Speaker 6: Okay, here's my question, Yeah, Taylor, if roles were reversed,
- 28:52Speaker 6: how is ste Gootts handling that situation?
- 28:54Speaker 5: And you are a mile away?
- 28:56Speaker 3: Huh?
- 28:57Speaker 4: If Stu Gotts is deploying the Navy seals to try
- 29:03Speaker 4: to get me waking up to come down to whatever
- 29:06Speaker 4: hotel he's at, he would have he would have he
- 29:09Speaker 4: would have found my location broken the door down, dragged
- 29:12Speaker 4: me out, tickled you to help.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And now that's what I would have done. I would
- 29:15Speaker 1: have gotten a key from the person at the front desk.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I would have broken.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Into his room and just started tickling him. Hey, teller,
- 29:21Speaker 3: it's me Tom a week let's go. I'm sorry. So
- 29:29Speaker 3: what happened?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Like, so listen, they had you right where they wanted
- 29:32Speaker 1: you because you're a sad person. You've traveled a long way,
- 29:34Speaker 1: you're tired, you're exhausted, you're sitting in the lobby looking sad,
- 29:38Speaker 1: and so of course they jacked up the prices on you.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I mean, so what happened? What was the end result here?
- 29:44Speaker 4: The end result was, luckily Scott Shapiro, our boss, waking
- 29:49Speaker 4: up and having the credit card authorization form for him
- 29:54Speaker 4: to fill out and get over, which he submitted in
- 29:57Speaker 4: the first place. Somehow, again in this in this mess
- 30:01Speaker 4: up by the hotel, and something got lost in translation
- 30:04Speaker 4: in terms of the actual dates.
- 30:06Speaker 5: That I was supposed to be there.
- 30:08Speaker 4: It all got figured out. I got back to the
- 30:10Speaker 4: room at I probably got into the room at midnight,
- 30:13Speaker 4: so what time that's probably two o'clock Eastern.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I was very tired, Yes, so Scott Shapiro came through.
- 30:20Speaker 1: But Scott is saying he originally did the reservation correctly.
- 30:23Speaker 3: I know he did. He showed it to me right.
- 30:26Speaker 4: So I was in all the original emails. I saw
- 30:29Speaker 4: the original emails. Everything was squared away. I saw when
- 30:33Speaker 4: Scott Shapiro put in the dates of Sunday to Saturday.
- 30:36Speaker 4: So that's when I got there and they said you're
- 30:39Speaker 4: not supposed to be here till Tuesday. And I'm looking
- 30:41Speaker 4: around and thinking it's eleven o'clock PM. I don't think
- 30:45Speaker 4: I have much luck contacting anybody right now.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Now, only twenty five hours to go till Tuesday. At
- 30:51Speaker 3: that time
