1:02
Speaker 2: welcome to the show and the day after the election,
1:04
Speaker 2: but if you're in Kanawha County, it's only hours after
1:08
Speaker 2: the election, as the final statement came out around seven
1:11
Speaker 2: this morning. That election day night, overnight early morning was
1:17
Speaker 2: over all of that due to what's being termed a
1:20
Speaker 2: corrupt memory stick, so the votes in effect had to
1:23
Speaker 2: be hand counted. Now, not a lot of races at
1:26
Speaker 2: that point were still being contested, but one that was
1:29
Speaker 2: was the race for Kanawh Kennedy Commission between Republican Chris
1:32
Speaker 2: Walters's Democrat Natalie Tenant. We'll get to the winter Natalie
1:35
Speaker 2: Tenant and there momentarily, but also coming up a little
1:37
Speaker 2: bit later on the show, former Charlestimir Danny Jones. He
1:40
Speaker 2: he obviously wants to talk about the Trump victory. So
1:43
Speaker 2: Danny is in astute guy in politics, but especially when
1:46
Speaker 2: it comes to the national things. So we're going to
1:47
Speaker 2: talk to Danny cover it up a little bit later
1:49

2:12
Speaker 2: the person we can call the newest member of the
2:14
Speaker 2: Kanawh County Commission.
2:15
Speaker 3: Elect, Natalie Tenant. Good morning, Congratulations, good morning, thank you.
2:19
Speaker 4: It hasn't really hit me yet because we were out
2:23
Speaker 4: so late. I even had to throw in the tout
2:25
Speaker 4: about one thirty when when the thirty one thousand absentee
2:30
Speaker 4: ballots were being recounted to get to the seventeen hundred
2:35
Speaker 4: that would to be added to it. Yeah, and I
2:40
Speaker 4: just can't be let me. They probably didn't get home
2:44
Speaker 4: till eight in the morning.
2:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I got the final email from the
2:48
Speaker 2: Kanawh County Commission folks at the Kanawh County I guess
2:51
Speaker 2: is what it is at seven o'clock this morning and
2:54
Speaker 2: then I got a text from County Commissioner Bensulango, who
2:58
Speaker 2: was on the show yesterday, and been uh said, you
3:01
Speaker 2: should have.
3:01
Speaker 3: Gotten the email by now, And I was driving and
3:03
Speaker 3: I said, yes, you.
3:04
Speaker 5: Know I did, And.
3:06
Speaker 2: But Ben was on his way because he has a
3:08
Speaker 2: daytime of job when he's not a county commissioner. He
3:11
Speaker 2: was on his way to Huntington to do depositions.
3:14
Speaker 4: And I even said to them last night, I said,
3:17
Speaker 4: you guys are in charge, can you just not halt
3:19
Speaker 4: because the human factor becomes in there, and you know,
3:23
Speaker 4: folks watching this, I watched them put up eight counting machines.
3:30
Speaker 6: They had to. They had to.
3:31
Speaker 4: They made that open space in the back of voter registration,
3:34
Speaker 4: and it was really kind of a first for me
3:37
Speaker 4: because having been I've been a pollworker before, I've been
3:39
Speaker 4: Secretary of State before, but never been back there where
3:42
Speaker 4: they're accounting.
3:43
Speaker 6: And that was an open process.
3:45
Speaker 4: It was on Facebook and the beginning part of it,
3:48
Speaker 4: but anybody could come and watch it, and so that
3:51
Speaker 4: took time. And imagine these poll workers and employees of
3:55
Speaker 4: the County Clerk's office who'd been up since three or
3:58
Speaker 4: four yes, and then having to work another day starting
4:03
Speaker 4: it like well, you know, the news was on. Well
4:06
Speaker 4: they started doing at about ten pm. So they started
4:09
Speaker 4: their second day at ten pm and went clear till seven.
4:14
Speaker 2: And as we speak, they may still be working, you know.
4:16
Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, that's that's kind of what. But
4:18
Speaker 2: in the end, of course, everything's got you know, the
4:21
Speaker 2: process got to be certified and.
4:22
Speaker 3: The whole deal and whatever.
4:23
Speaker 2: But any end, it looks like you are going to
4:25
Speaker 2: be the next Canawa County Commissioner. So congratulations to you.
4:31
Speaker 2: And it was close. It was very close. It was close,
4:34
Speaker 2: a little a little closer than what you would have liked.
4:36
Speaker 2: Probably a little closer than you thought.
4:38
Speaker 3: It would be.
4:38
Speaker 6: Yeah, a little closer than that. But I mean, think
4:41
Speaker 6: about it.
4:42
Speaker 4: Chris was everywhere I was, and he was offering ideas.
4:46
Speaker 4: I saw his signs, he saw mine. And that's the
4:50
Speaker 4: way it was was supposed to be. And people were
4:53
Speaker 4: so relieved that we were respect full and cordial of
5:01
Speaker 4: each other. Remember I don't I don't know if I
5:03
Speaker 4: said it on air on Monday when we were together,
5:05
Speaker 4: but afterward I said, hey, Chris, come on, come on over.
5:08
Speaker 4: So he came over to our watch party with I
5:11
Speaker 4: was with Sally Robinson, the assessor, and he came over.
5:16
Speaker 4: I guess you know even before you know, we all
5:19
Speaker 4: anticipate that those early votes are going to come in
5:21
Speaker 4: and they're going to set the tone.
5:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well he was.
5:24
Speaker 4: He was ready to come in and set the tone.
5:26
Speaker 4: And everybody they clapped for him when he came in
5:29
Speaker 4: and when he left, and that's that's just the way
5:33
Speaker 4: it should be.
5:34
Speaker 6: And I will use some of his ideas. I'll call him, I'll.
5:40
Speaker 4: Get some thoughts on what he thinks, because you know,
5:44
Speaker 4: we respect each other.
5:45
Speaker 3: And I love the fact.
5:46
Speaker 2: Again, and I've talked about this over and over again
5:49
Speaker 2: about how civil the campaign was and I.
5:51
Speaker 3: Was, and you both said it would be.
5:53
Speaker 2: But sometimes things happen, right, and sometimes other people get involved.
5:56
Speaker 2: You know, it's not necessarily the candidates. I mean, I've
5:59
Speaker 2: even seen instances when a candidate has released a statement saying, hey,
6:02
Speaker 2: that was put out by a pack or something.
6:04
Speaker 3: I had nothing to do with that. I this is
6:07
Speaker 3: myself from that.
6:08
Speaker 2: But even last night I texted both of you and
6:10
Speaker 2: I said, look, I want the winner of this to
6:14
Speaker 2: be in be on the show tomorrow morning, and and
6:17
Speaker 2: Walter sends me a text of the two of you together,
6:20
Speaker 2: you know last night.
6:21
Speaker 4: So did you?
6:22
Speaker 3: Oh you said it if you send me a text
6:23
Speaker 3: to the two of d Okay, I'm sorry. It was
6:25
Speaker 3: a long night for me too.
6:26
Speaker 2: But but but even uh and I'm assuming he's congratulated.
6:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, well he congratulated me when he came in either way.
6:34
Speaker 4: And then he came back into voter registration. I'd been
6:38
Speaker 4: back and forth between voter registration and he came back
6:41
Speaker 4: and I left before he did. I said, somebody text
6:44
Speaker 4: me and tell me if I got to get to
6:45
Speaker 4: the radio station or not. And that was that was
6:48
Speaker 4: the thing, because you know, I've been battling this cold
6:51
Speaker 4: a little bit, and.
6:53
Speaker 3: Plus all the talking probably did not good for the.
6:55
Speaker 4: Voice either, and so I was like, just somebody tell
6:57
Speaker 4: me if I got to go see Dave Allen.
6:59
Speaker 6: Exactly what I said.
7:01
Speaker 2: Oddly enough, that's what people say every day on this show,
7:04
Speaker 2: to please tell me if I have to go see
7:05
Speaker 2: The day abound. But Dave Allen showing five Any Lives
7:07
Speaker 2: brought to you a part by Live Healthy West Virginia
7:09
Speaker 2: presented by WVU Medicine, Live Healthy tactling a whole lot
7:12
Speaker 2: of pressing health issues it's a podcast offering insights into
7:15
Speaker 2: medical breakthroughs and preventative care featuring WVU Medicines expert physicians,
7:19
Speaker 2: aimed at fostering healthier lifestyles in and beyond West Virginia.
7:21
Speaker 3: A valuable resource for all.
7:23
Speaker 2: Check it out wv metronews dot com the podcast menu,
7:26
Speaker 2: and start your journey towards better health today. All right,
7:28
Speaker 2: so now it's time to go to work. Yes, it's
7:31
Speaker 2: time to go to work. And all these ideas that
7:33
Speaker 2: you that you talked about when you and Chris were
7:35
Speaker 2: on the show, some of the ideas that you said,
7:36
Speaker 2: and you both of you said, I like that idea,
7:38
Speaker 2: I may use it. Now you've got to set down
7:41
Speaker 2: and you've got to work with two other county commissioners,
7:45
Speaker 2: the commissioned President, Lance Wheeler and also Ben Selanga.
7:49
Speaker 3: A little bit different for you, I.
7:51
Speaker 2: Mean, because you know, obviously when you were Secretary of State,
7:53
Speaker 2: you had a great group of people around you. But
7:57
Speaker 2: you know, ultimately whoever has the office pretty much has
8:00
Speaker 2: the ultimate decision. Yeah, you know, once the door is
8:02
Speaker 2: closed and say okay, well to take into it, but
8:05
Speaker 2: we're not going to do this, okay now, no matter
8:08
Speaker 2: what it is, that you set down with. You know,
8:10
Speaker 2: you've got to have a public vote, and you've got
8:12
Speaker 2: to be you know, you gotta work with two other people.
8:15
Speaker 2: Oh and I'm making and plus the Sheriff's department all
8:18
Speaker 2: the everything that goes into that too, exactly.
8:20
Speaker 4: All the all the other different agencies of elected officials also. Well,
8:24
Speaker 4: my first thing today was going to be let me
8:27
Speaker 4: call the county commissioners and just you know, talk to
8:30
Speaker 4: them right now. I'm not going to get well, we know,
8:33
Speaker 4: Soelango's off to work. I'm not going to give them
8:35
Speaker 4: a call when they went home at eight. I thought
8:37
Speaker 4: that I was like, can't you guys mean we can
8:39
Speaker 4: all come back when we're fresh, fresh and our minds
8:42
Speaker 4: are clear. They're like, no, we have to, we have
8:44
Speaker 4: to be here. So I'm going to give commissioners slot Nick,
8:47
Speaker 4: and Wheeler and and Selango a little break. Maybe maybe
8:50
Speaker 4: later this afternoon, but certainly not first thing in the morning.
8:53
Speaker 4: But I will call some of the the mayors and
8:57
Speaker 4: the people that I need to talk to that that
8:59
Speaker 4: I I didn't wasn't able to get a hold of.
9:01
Speaker 4: I left a lot of messages, but I'm also going
9:04
Speaker 4: to call I'm going to call.
9:07
Speaker 6: Patrick Morrissey. I'm going to call Jim Justice. I'm going
9:10
Speaker 6: to call Shelley.
9:10
Speaker 4: Moore Capito because she's the senior Senator now, and there
9:15
Speaker 4: is that relationship between counties or among counties and our
9:19
Speaker 4: federal representatives that we still need that help, and I
9:23
Speaker 4: want them to know that I'm right here and we
9:27
Speaker 4: can still move forward. You know. I'm hopeful that we
9:29
Speaker 4: get some of the same funding that we've gotten over
9:32
Speaker 4: the last four years, whether it was ARPA, whether it
9:35
Speaker 4: was the the i r A, and that money to
9:38
Speaker 4: continue to do the work that has been planned. So
9:42
Speaker 4: that's why I think the federal and state elected officials also.
9:48
Speaker 6: Let me see, I saw JB.
9:49
Speaker 4: I'm thinking of all the Kanawha County Tristan Levitt, he
9:52
Speaker 4: and I see each other all the time. I'm trying
9:56
Speaker 4: to think of the new the new delegates I saw
9:58
Speaker 4: J JB.
10:01
Speaker 6: Who else everybody else is pretty much.
10:02
Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dan and Ferrer run unopposed.
10:06
Speaker 2: Uh Dean Jeffries ran unopposed. So you'll be working with
10:10
Speaker 2: with with a lot of those with those people because
10:13
Speaker 2: being in being in I mean, all of the county
10:15
Speaker 2: commissions around the state keep an eye on Charleston. But
10:18
Speaker 2: especially when you're in Charleston, you know you're gonna find
10:20
Speaker 2: yourself there and lobby lobbying so to speak, you know,
10:22
Speaker 2: there to try to get things for the state's largest
10:25
Speaker 2: county and the seat of government. I want to give
10:28
Speaker 2: you an opportunity, though, Natalie, to to thank some people,
10:30
Speaker 2: because I know you had a team around you, uh, family,
10:33
Speaker 2: so on and so forth. So I'm gonna give you
10:34
Speaker 2: a couple of minutes.
10:35
Speaker 3: It's your time. If you just want to thank some people,
10:37
Speaker 3: you go right ahead.
10:38
Speaker 4: Well, I think first and foremost the voters who who
10:42
Speaker 4: believed in me. I've gotten so many texts and messages.
10:45
Speaker 4: It's like that's where that's where we need you, Natalie.
10:47
Speaker 4: We need you to be there. But I also thank
10:49
Speaker 4: them not just for their vote, but for their time
10:52
Speaker 4: and confiding in me what they are concerned about. And
10:56
Speaker 4: those are the things the next steps that I also
10:59
Speaker 4: have to get together with those things that I pointed out,
11:02
Speaker 4: the water, some internet.
11:04
Speaker 6: We know what we can get on the winter Internet.
11:06
Speaker 4: I hope that boy that we still get the one
11:08
Speaker 4: point two billion dollars in the Bead project with expanding internet,
11:13
Speaker 4: and so I thank the people who who saw in
11:17
Speaker 4: me what is possible that we can do that, and
11:19
Speaker 4: those voters, and I'll be out and about, you know,
11:22
Speaker 4: doing doing my same things, going to dinners, going to festivals,
11:24
Speaker 4: going to things like that, and of course the volunteers
11:29
Speaker 4: who helped me and my family. You know, we're a
11:33
Speaker 4: little bit different now that we're all in different places,
11:36
Speaker 4: and you know, we FaceTime to head into election night
11:41
Speaker 4: last night, so you know, it's always tough on the family.
11:47
Speaker 4: And my daughter is of an age now where she
11:51
Speaker 4: is a young journalist studying to be a young journalist.
11:55
Speaker 4: She's at the University of Kentucky, so she's covering some
11:58
Speaker 4: Kentucky elections over there, but she is understanding the whole
12:02
Speaker 4: concept of all all the way around, so it can
12:04
Speaker 4: be a little tough on her, you know, compared to
12:06
Speaker 4: when she was eighteen months old or ten years old.
12:09
Speaker 4: So I think my family too. I think my friends
12:12
Speaker 4: who who came out, who gave me a hard time,
12:16
Speaker 4: who teased me, who toughened me up. And then you know,
12:18
Speaker 4: my siblings are north central West Virginia, but certainly received
12:25
Speaker 4: texts from them and well wishes, and you know, it's
12:29
Speaker 4: all of this is who I am, and I will
12:32
Speaker 4: remain that.
12:34
Speaker 6: I always just gut checked myself.
12:36
Speaker 4: You know, my dad's no longer living, my mom's been
12:39
Speaker 4: gone thirteen years, but I would always be you know,
12:41
Speaker 4: if I make this decision, can I go back to
12:43
Speaker 4: the farm and explain it to my dad, to my
12:46
Speaker 4: mom and to my siblings, and it'll still be that,
12:49
Speaker 4: but it's a little closer. It was truly different running
12:53
Speaker 4: a county race for me as opposed to a statewide race,
12:56
Speaker 4: because when you run a county or you want a
13:00
Speaker 4: state wide race, you're lucky. You try to hit one
13:03
Speaker 4: or two things in a county and go on to
13:04
Speaker 4: the next county. When you run the county race, you're
13:07
Speaker 4: going to everything, and you just have that intimacy a
13:10
Speaker 4: little bit more and that understanding of each other.
13:12
Speaker 2: And what I've found, and I'll let you go after
13:14
Speaker 2: this I've found and this doesn't matter whe it's Canaan
13:16
Speaker 2: County or whatever. One of my former coworkers, the news
13:19
Speaker 2: director at a station, used to refer to it as
13:22
Speaker 2: provincial paranoia. What happens is is basically that there's always
13:26
Speaker 2: one area of the county, of the city, whatever the case,
13:29
Speaker 2: that thinks that they're kind of being crapped on for
13:31
Speaker 2: lack of about it or that they're not getting as much.
13:33
Speaker 2: And so you're going to get a lot more of
13:36
Speaker 2: that in Kanaan County, just like you would in Putnam
13:38
Speaker 2: or McDow countywhere else, because that's a common thing. Something
13:41
Speaker 2: that Danny Jones pointed out to me last night. And
13:43
Speaker 2: Danny will be on with us a little bit later on.
13:44
Speaker 2: You are the first female commissioner. Oh yeah, county.
13:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's amazing. Two hundred and thirty six years,
13:52
Speaker 4: we've never had a woman, and we've had so many
13:54
Speaker 4: strong women come from the county, like I can think
13:56
Speaker 4: of a Martha Walker, a Martha Whorley, even some of
14:00
Speaker 4: our business like Virginia King or yeah, Virginia King who
14:04
Speaker 4: owns Kenawhastone. All of these women and I don't even
14:08
Speaker 4: know And this is where Danny's gonna have to come in.
14:11
Speaker 6: I don't even know if they've run for this office before.
14:15
Speaker 4: And that's that's saying a lot. But yeah, I'm the
14:18
Speaker 4: first up there. You can go look at the pictures
14:20
Speaker 4: on the can the County commission wall.
14:23
Speaker 6: You see all.
14:24
Speaker 2: Then there's going to be a new picture up there.
14:25
Speaker 2: Natalie Tenant, we congratulate.
14:28
Speaker 6: You, and I haven't thought about that.
14:29
Speaker 2: I have a very uh always have a very open
14:31
Speaker 2: relationship with the with the other county commissioners.
14:33
Speaker 3: We learned silango no.
14:35
Speaker 2: Generally speaking, they just say, hey, I'd like to come
14:36
Speaker 2: on and talk about this, and don't wait for me
14:38
Speaker 2: to reach out to you.
14:38
Speaker 3: You reach out to me.
14:39
Speaker 4: I will, and that's what you know, And I expect that.
14:42
Speaker 4: I expect the hard questions too, because that's the former
14:45
Speaker 4: reporter in me that comes out, and that's you know,
14:47
Speaker 4: I'm going to do that too. And I even said
14:49
Speaker 4: Leslie Rubin last night because I was trying to explain
14:52
Speaker 4: also what was taking place, and generally we all we

18:28
Speaker 2: Amelia Nicely of West Virginia watch good morning. And we
18:31
Speaker 2: also have Brad mclhanny. Brad, good morning. How are you, sir?
18:36
Speaker 12: Oh Hi? I am here at Metro News Central in Morgantown,
18:40
Speaker 12: and occasionally I see Happy Kircher walking by to go
18:43
Speaker 12: get a cup of coffee.
18:45
Speaker 2: Now, so, uh, what's the mood up there? And say everybody?
18:51
Speaker 2: Everybody kind of looks hung over. But there was no alcohol,
18:53
Speaker 2: I mean, at least not here anyway.
18:54
Speaker 3: We didn't have any here. Maybe Steven had some, I
18:56
Speaker 3: don't know.
18:56
Speaker 11: We didn't have There was no alcohol in my Stanley.
19:00
Speaker 2: Amelia is silent, okay, Brad, I'm gonna start with you.
19:05
Speaker 2: Not a bad night to be a Republican in the
19:07
Speaker 2: state of West Virginia. Last night, Brad, I'll start with you.
19:11
Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, uh, that is one morning conversation that
19:14
Speaker 12: Happy and I had sort of how to assess that.
19:18
Speaker 12: His thinking was that it's you know, it's it's just
19:22
Speaker 12: impressive Republican dominance. And I felt like his assessment of
19:30
Speaker 12: it was that it's, uh, you know, a new reassertion
19:35
Speaker 12: of Republican power in West Virginia. I viewed it as
19:40
Speaker 12: more of a continuation. You know, all all of the
19:44
Speaker 12: statewide offices were in Republican heines already, but they are
19:48
Speaker 12: again and bye by seemingly even broader margins Republicans could
19:56
Speaker 12: there was barely any any room to increase their super
20:00
Speaker 12: majorities in the House and the Senate, but they seem
20:03
Speaker 12: to have done it with you know, the numbers. They
20:05
Speaker 12: had one more seat in the Senate, which leaves Democrats
20:08
Speaker 12: with two, a couple seats in the House of Delegates.
20:12
Speaker 12: So you know, we're assessing this thing on the margins, like,
20:17
Speaker 12: are Republicans in West Virginia newly amazing or is this
20:21
Speaker 12: continuation of the amazing track record that they've had over
20:25
Speaker 12: the last eight, ten, twelve years.
20:28
Speaker 2: Steven, your take on the Republican I will say victory,
20:32
Speaker 2: that's a that's a I mean because if you look
20:33
Speaker 2: at the bord of public works, of course we already
20:35
Speaker 2: you know, Leonhardt didn't run for well, I mean, he
20:37
Speaker 2: was the only one that's going to be returning to
20:39
Speaker 2: that room. Your take on this Republican domination in West Virginia.
20:42
Speaker 11: I'm not surprised. I mean, as reporters, we don't make
20:46
Speaker 11: predictions publicly. I think we've all talked amongst ourselves. We're
20:50
Speaker 11: aware to Republican voter registration advantage, We're aware do demographic
20:54
Speaker 11: changes politically in the state over the last decade. For sure,
20:59
Speaker 11: I'm not surprised Republicans won, you know, for for governor,
21:03
Speaker 11: for US Senate, for congressional seats, for border public works seats.
21:08
Speaker 11: I am a little taken back by the margins. You're
21:11
Speaker 11: talking twenty five thirty thirty five point margins for the
21:14
Speaker 11: most part, for everybody, it was very, very, very massive.
21:18
Speaker 11: And as Brad talked about just there, I mean, you're
21:22
Speaker 11: losing a Democratic seat in the state Senate, so they
21:25
Speaker 11: go from three to two, and the thirty four member
21:27
Speaker 11: body and of course, we haven't seen numbers that low
21:30
Speaker 11: in appolical party since don A. Bowlie was the only
21:32
Speaker 11: Republican in like the in the eighties. And then on
21:36
Speaker 11: the House side, of course, you know they're dropping from
21:39
Speaker 11: eleven to nine seats and that one hundred member body.
21:43
Speaker 11: So I gotta tell you, I'm not surprised Republicans one.
21:46
Speaker 11: I am a little surprised by just the margins Amelia.
21:50
Speaker 13: I agree with what Steven and Brad said. I was
21:53
Speaker 13: looking at the eastern Pinhandle just to like dig into
21:55
Speaker 13: those numbers a little bit. That was an area of
21:57
Speaker 13: the state that has you know, more republic book and
22:00
Speaker 13: registrations and Democrats, but has a growing number of independent
22:03
Speaker 13: registrations and has a changing population, a younger population, people
22:07
Speaker 13: leaving DC wanting to live in West Virginian Commune into
22:10
Speaker 13: the city. And still Republicans won every race there in
22:14
Speaker 13: the House and the Senate. I think one of the
22:16
Speaker 13: closest ones was still a thousand votes apart. I mean,
22:20
Speaker 13: they really weren't close races. I thought that was really interesting,
22:24
Speaker 13: cause that was one part of the state of thought, Oh,
22:25
Speaker 13: we might see a couple of dem pickups here, but
22:28
Speaker 13: it's still very red.
22:29
Speaker 3: It didn't happen. Jim Justice and baby dog are on
22:32
Speaker 3: their way to Washington. The U Hall.
22:35
Speaker 2: I was going to say the U Haul's bulled up
22:36
Speaker 2: the governor's mansion, but probably not. So they're headed to Washington. Brad,
22:41
Speaker 2: your take on Jim Justice US Senator.
22:44
Speaker 12: Man It is going to be an adventure. And you know,
22:47
Speaker 12: again last night he told his audience at the Greenbrier,
22:50
Speaker 12: his supporters that no one in the right mind would
22:54
Speaker 12: want to go to Washington, d C. But he said
22:56
Speaker 12: he is willing to do it because he believes the
22:59
Speaker 12: voter have asked him to. He believes West Virginians will
23:03
Speaker 12: benefit from a Republican majority in the Senate that he
23:06
Speaker 12: is clearly contributing to by virtue of winning that seat
23:10
Speaker 12: that had been held by a former Democrat and now independent,
23:14
Speaker 12: Joe Manchin. But how he You know, he has been
23:18
Speaker 12: one of a kind as governor, and I think he
23:22
Speaker 12: will continue to be one of a kind as senator.
23:25
Speaker 12: You know, all these questions remain, how will he treat
23:28
Speaker 12: his dog? How will he physically get around the Capitol,
23:33
Speaker 12: And you know it's a big place. He doesn't move
23:36
Speaker 12: about easily. He tends to sit when he makes presentations,
23:40
Speaker 12: and what is his commitment to being there when he
23:43
Speaker 12: needs to be. And I don't think I'm surprising you,
23:46
Speaker 12: guys when I just quietly whisper that there are questions
23:50
Speaker 12: about whether Jim Justice will serve out a full term.
23:53
Speaker 12: He says he will.
23:54
Speaker 2: He says he will, but I mean, I think a
23:56
Speaker 2: lot of us do have questions about that. I just
23:57
Speaker 2: said this whole idea when Patrick urse he will get
24:00
Speaker 2: the him momentarily, guys, Patrick morris he goes over to
24:02
Speaker 2: the governor's mansion. I mean, I don't know if anybody's
24:05
Speaker 2: been in the governor's mansion a while. I picture the furniture.
24:07
Speaker 2: There's bed sheets on it, you know, kind of like
24:09
Speaker 2: your grandma's house. Possibly all the milk in the fridge
24:12
Speaker 2: has expired because nobody's been there in the last several years.
24:16
Speaker 2: Patrick Morrissey as the governor Amelia.
24:19
Speaker 13: Yes, he easily won that.
24:21
Speaker 14: Last night.
24:21
Speaker 13: I mean Pol's closed at seven thirty and I think
24:23
Speaker 13: my phone buzzed at seven thirty one.
24:25
Speaker 6: That the ap he.
24:26
Speaker 3: Started giving his speech at four yesterday.
24:29
Speaker 13: Yeah, so he easily won that one. In his acceptance speech,
24:34
Speaker 13: he talked a lot of the same points that he
24:36
Speaker 13: has on campaigning. He's really committed to auditing a lot.
24:40
Speaker 13: He loves He loves a good audit. So he wants
24:42
Speaker 13: to look at where he can save money potentially give
24:44
Speaker 13: money back to taxpayers in the form of a tax
24:46
Speaker 13: cutter in those savings that he finds by auditing. And
24:49
Speaker 13: he also of course talked about, I think, going against
24:53
Speaker 13: any federal overreach when it comes to energy. He really
24:55
Speaker 13: wants to bring energy jobs back to West Virginia. And
24:59
Speaker 13: he talked about expand school choice, which is something he's
25:01
Speaker 13: really passionate about. Yes, I think there really weren't any
25:05
Speaker 13: surprises necessarily in that speech, but he was excited to
25:09
Speaker 13: say he is the first governor from Jefferson County. It's
25:12
Speaker 13: proud to be from the Eastern Pinhandle, and really stress
25:14
Speaker 13: that that's important to him to not only represent the
25:17
Speaker 13: Eastern Panhandle, but all fifty five counties.
25:19
Speaker 2: There's always a little something that comes in. I remember,
25:21
Speaker 2: you know, being a southern West Virginian gay whiner. El
25:23
Speaker 2: Ray Tomlin was there and he was always real big
25:25
Speaker 2: on the southern West Virginia. That's just and that's just
25:27
Speaker 2: a part of it. One thing I wonder about Steven.
25:30
Speaker 2: You fought you, all three of you follow all these
25:32
Speaker 2: folks closely. You know one thing, Patrick Morrish, he's kind
25:35
Speaker 2: of known as a bulldog. He is a very head
25:37
Speaker 2: strong and it's not a bad thing in the world
25:39
Speaker 2: of politics, but when he gets in there with some
25:41
Speaker 2: of these larger personalities in the legislature, Let's say a
25:45
Speaker 2: Senator Eric Tarr for example, also very similar, you know, bulldog.
25:50
Speaker 2: You know, not saying that they don't compromise. I don't
25:52
Speaker 2: mean that, but I'm just saying it has some pretty
25:54
Speaker 2: strong ideas. Eric would tell you that about about West Virginia.
25:57
Speaker 2: How do you see Steve in that relationship working?
26:00
Speaker 11: Such a good question. It really is one of those
26:03
Speaker 11: things where, like you said, Morris, he's a hard charging guy.
26:05
Speaker 11: He's a bulldog, and over the years he has rubbed
26:09
Speaker 11: some Republican lawmakers the wrong way. You always hear about it,
26:12
Speaker 11: particularly after a primary, because sometimes some bridges are burned
26:16
Speaker 11: or he goes a little bit too hard. And his
26:19
Speaker 11: relationship sometimes with the Republican legislature has been interesting. And
26:22
Speaker 11: we're called a few years ago during the abortion prior
26:25
Speaker 11: to the abortion special session in twenty twenty two, when
26:28
Speaker 11: he had been ascid do and advisory opinion all behalf
26:32
Speaker 11: of the legislature in regards to the law that was
26:35
Speaker 11: already on the books, and instead of presenting that to
26:38
Speaker 11: the legislature first, he went straight to the press and
26:40
Speaker 11: that really upset House Speaker Roger Hanshaw and they had
26:43
Speaker 11: some words about that press. So that's an example. So
26:47
Speaker 11: I do think that there's going to probably be some
26:50
Speaker 11: differences on how things are done. I suspect we'll see
26:53
Speaker 11: a lot that worked out behind the scenes, and maybe
26:55
Speaker 11: it won't bleed over into our review, but it's something
26:58
Speaker 11: we're going to be watching because the dynamics are very interesting.
27:00
Speaker 3: Let me read a text here and I'll get all
27:02
Speaker 3: your guys opinion on this.
27:03
Speaker 2: We got to text this show, so, Dave, if Democrats
27:04
Speaker 2: are upset with the presidential election outcome, they have two
27:08
Speaker 2: groups of people to blame. Number one, their own party
27:10
Speaker 2: elites who covered up Biden's mental problems for over a
27:13
Speaker 2: year at installed Harris, and their own party state delegates
27:17
Speaker 2: to the Democratic National Convention who went cultishly along with
27:20
Speaker 2: stealing Democratic voters choices. If a true or even limited
27:24
Speaker 2: Democratic primary had happened, they would have roundly defeated Donald Trump. Amelia,
27:29
Speaker 2: you want to take the first shot of that one.
27:32
Speaker 11: Not really though, Well, I mean that's a little hard
27:37
Speaker 11: to say, I think, because I mean, you look at
27:39
Speaker 11: and I've only ProMED my mind has been so focused
27:42
Speaker 11: on the state legislative races, state board public works races.
27:46
Speaker 11: I'm sort of a spectator to what's going on with
27:49
Speaker 11: the presidential race at this point. But I do kind
27:51
Speaker 11: of see looking at some of the dumbers and some
27:54
Speaker 11: of the analysis from the national outlets that I think
27:57
Speaker 11: Trump actually outperformed Biden in places that Biden actually did
28:04
Speaker 11: better in twenty twenty. So whether you have Kamala Harris
28:08
Speaker 11: at the top of the ticket, whether you have Biden
28:10
Speaker 11: at the top of a ticket, or whether they would have
28:12
Speaker 11: done an actual contested convention and find somebody else, I
28:17
Speaker 11: don't know that it would have changed that much. So,
28:20
Speaker 11: I mean it's easy to say that, but I don't
28:22
Speaker 11: think that's you can't really say that based on the evidence.
28:25
Speaker 13: I think that we do see that national politics have
28:27
Speaker 13: made a difference in the outcome and the state legislative process.
28:30
Speaker 13: I can't say that definitively, but I will Yeah, but
28:33
Speaker 13: I think you know, we sit there and we cover
28:34
Speaker 13: these people, you know, every day for sixty days, and
28:37
Speaker 13: they agree more than they disagree. But you know when
28:40
Speaker 13: people look at those those ballots and see D next
28:43
Speaker 13: to their name and they wanted it for Trump, that.
28:45
Speaker 2: Definitely, I think, which is why you've seen so many
28:48
Speaker 2: longstanding Democrats who have suddenly become ours now, you know,
28:51
Speaker 2: because of that. And again I use the example, and
28:53
Speaker 2: I've used this time and time again. You can't run
28:55
Speaker 2: for Wetzel County Assessor without saying that, you know, I
29:00
Speaker 2: stand with Donald Trump.
29:01
Speaker 3: I mean, that's just kind of kind of where we're Brad.
29:03
Speaker 2: Let's talk about the state Democratic Party. Mike Pushkin's a
29:05
Speaker 2: regular guest on the show. He won, by the way,
29:08
Speaker 2: he had some competition, and he did win reelection last
29:11
Speaker 2: night for.
29:12
Speaker 3: His house seat.
29:12
Speaker 2: Let's talk about the state Democratic Party. I mean, it's
29:15
Speaker 2: a mess right now. And I don't mean that that's
29:16
Speaker 2: not a reflection on Mike Pushkin necessarily. I'm just saying
29:20
Speaker 2: because the state Democratic Party in West Virginia is a
29:23
Speaker 2: mess overall, no matter.
29:24
Speaker 3: Who the head of the party is.
29:25
Speaker 2: Because it's like, you know, they had a couple of
29:27
Speaker 2: wins here in Canall Valley with Kaylee Young and Hollis Lewis.
29:29
Speaker 2: But by and large, ain't a lot of people signing
29:32
Speaker 2: up to be a Democrat right now.
29:34
Speaker 3: Brad.
29:36
Speaker 13: No.
29:36
Speaker 12: And you know, I honestly, my assessment of success for
29:42
Speaker 12: Democrats this election probably would have been sort of holding
29:47
Speaker 12: serve in the legislative races. That they are down one
29:51
Speaker 12: seat now in the Senate, down to two Democrats in
29:55
Speaker 12: the Senate, and down to nine Republicans from now to
29:58
Speaker 12: nine Democrats from eleven in the House of Delegates. That's
30:02
Speaker 12: pretty close to where they were down a little bit. So,
30:07
Speaker 12: you know, have they bottomed out or is it just
30:10
Speaker 12: you know, is this a leveling off at this point?
30:14
Speaker 12: Democrats have a long way to come back to relevance
30:17
Speaker 12: in West Virginia politics. Overall, that's a long journey. And
30:22
Speaker 12: again you see another cycle of former Democrats now Republicans
30:29
Speaker 12: successfully obtaining office. And one that comes to mind is
30:33
Speaker 12: former Democrat Mark Hunt, who has served in the state
30:36
Speaker 12: Senate now is going to be West Virginia's auditor. So,
30:42
Speaker 12: you know, it seems to me the Republicans are like
30:45
Speaker 12: the Democrats used to be, and they are stratified. They
30:49
Speaker 12: have a group of Republicans who are sort of traditional
30:53
Speaker 12: others who are further through the right, animated by more
30:59
Speaker 12: social issues. And then this group of people I think
31:03
Speaker 12: of as as pragmatists who really could be under either banner,
31:08
Speaker 12: but they know that the electoral odds are that you're
31:13
Speaker 12: going to be elected more likely as a Republican in
31:16
Speaker 12: West Virginia. At this point, those people used to make
31:19
Speaker 12: that calculation to be Democrats. Looking at you, Joe Mansion,
31:23
Speaker 12: but you know, it's just it's a different landscape. And
31:27
Speaker 12: if you are a moderate and you think, well, how
31:30
Speaker 12: how is it that I'm most likely to be elected?
31:34
Speaker 12: You sign up to be a Republican at this point.
31:36
Speaker 2: You're exactly right before we let you go, guys, Amendment one,
31:40
Speaker 2: it was close, a Member one was close.
31:41
Speaker 3: Stephen still is still is.
31:43
Speaker 11: I mean, I don't know if a canvas will change it,
31:45
Speaker 11: but I mean we're talking fifty to fifty fifty fifty,
31:47
Speaker 11: which I not to brag, but I did kind of
31:50
Speaker 11: predict that. I think it would be a coin flip
31:52
Speaker 11: on that one. So fifty to fifty, though slightly more
31:55
Speaker 11: for it than against it. Again, whether a canvas, you know,
31:59
Speaker 11: by County commits here soon will perhaps affect that we
32:04
Speaker 11: will see. If not, it's going in the state constitution.
32:07
Speaker 11: So uh, congratulations to the people that were pushing that,
32:13
Speaker 11: because you know, getting a narrow wind is still a win.
32:17
Speaker 11: So they were able to get it across the line.
32:19
Speaker 3: And this was the physician assisted suicide.
32:21
Speaker 2: I mean, it was kind of called that, you know,
32:23
Speaker 2: something that is already illegal in West Virginia, but they
32:26
Speaker 2: wanted just to put the exclamation point on that.
32:28
Speaker 13: Amelia, And I will say the number one thing I
32:30
Speaker 13: saw on Facebook yesterday on my feet were people voting
32:33
Speaker 13: that were confused about it whether they voted against her
32:36
Speaker 13: for it.
32:36
Speaker 6: They were like, I.
32:37
Speaker 13: Didn't know what to check. I was confused. I was
32:39
Speaker 13: trying to take out my phone.
32:40
Speaker 11: So interesting to see how the biggest complain I heard was
32:44
Speaker 11: the wordings, So people didn't know if it was their
32:46
Speaker 11: voting forward or against her, if they were pushing it,
32:49
Speaker 11: you know, for physician assistants for suicide against it.
32:52
Speaker 3: Low confusion on that, right. Give me about thirty seconds
32:54
Speaker 3: on Amendment one.
32:55
Speaker 12: Your take, Well, you know, we don't have exit polling,
32:59
Speaker 12: but I would love to know what people interpreted they
33:04
Speaker 12: were voting on them their reasons for doing so, because
33:07
Speaker 12: I think it may have been as close as it
33:09
Speaker 12: was for the very reasons. Even in the media stated
33:12
Speaker 12: the people just didn't know. It was kind of a
33:14
Speaker 12: double negative. Which which way did I vote? I came
33:16
Speaker 12: out not sure.
33:18
Speaker 2: I got a quick text here and I got to
33:19
Speaker 2: read this for the three of you, and you may
33:21
Speaker 2: or may not want to do this, but a quick
33:22
Speaker 2: text came just came in. They said, now that the
33:25
Speaker 2: election is settled, not technically settled, but I mean it's
33:28
Speaker 2: it's pretty much settled. Who do you think the next
33:30
Speaker 2: Senate president will be?
33:32
Speaker 11: Well, now that we are past this, I guarantee we
33:35
Speaker 11: got you know, Leis, we got special sessions beginning Sunday.
33:38
Speaker 11: They will technically go in and caucus I think, and
33:40
Speaker 11: choose their leadership for the next legislative session, probably beginning
33:44
Speaker 11: in December. But now I think you're going to start
33:47
Speaker 11: to see some names really pop up, and some people.
33:51
Speaker 3: Give us give us one.
33:52
Speaker 11: Obviously, Eric hard the Center Finance Committee chairman, Tom Takubo,
33:57
Speaker 11: the majority leader, is up there for sure. I've heard
34:00
Speaker 11: other names like State Senator Mike Oliveria' you've heard that too,
34:03
Speaker 11: Melia So I mean it's going to be a free fall,
34:05
Speaker 11: all right, Amelia, give me a prediction.
34:07
Speaker 13: I don't want to predict. I'm going to echo those
34:09
Speaker 13: same three names that I had heard, Amy Grady, but
34:11
Speaker 13: haven't heard that more recently.
34:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's a full time job, and
34:15
Speaker 2: Amy has committed a senator. Grady is committed to her classroom.
34:19
Speaker 2: I don't I don't see that happening. Brad, you want
34:21
Speaker 2: to you want to go along with the other two.
34:23
Speaker 12: I think it is very fluid. Sometime soon, I expect
34:27
Speaker 12: Judiciary Chairman Charlie Trump to resign to take his Supreme
34:30
Speaker 12: Court seat. Mark Hunt may wait a little later to resign. Uh,
34:35
Speaker 12: he may have his replacement designated by incoming Governor Morrissey.
34:42
Speaker 12: And then you know, who knows if the Morrissey administration
34:46
Speaker 12: may take some Senators and put them into cabinet roles.
34:50
Speaker 12: So I don't think this is the final shape of
34:53
Speaker 12: the Senate, and the shape is going to determine, you know,
34:56
Speaker 12: this underlying battle for who the president is.
34:58
Speaker 2: All right, guys, I appreciate it a long night for everybody.
35:01
Speaker 2: Brad up in Morgantown, Amelia and Stephen in the part
35:03
Speaker 2: of our store studios. I appreciate everybody for being here.
35:06
Speaker 2: Thanks like guys, thank you, thank you, thanks a lot. Quick,
35:09
Speaker 2: all right, Brad, will cut you loose while I read
35:11
Speaker 2: a quick text here, says Dave. The fact that Mayor
35:13
Speaker 2: Amy Goodwin bragged on your show about being in the
35:17
Speaker 2: same college sorority as now County Commissioner Natalie Tenant proves
35:20
Speaker 2: how selectively elitists the West virgin West Virginia Democratic Party
35:25
Speaker 2: has become.
35:27
Speaker 3: Text, says Dave.
35:28
Speaker 2: West Virginia and the whole United States still has common sense.
35:31
Speaker 2: Voters spoke loudly last night and shose candidates that had
35:33
Speaker 2: some common sense policies. The United States citizens are sick
35:36
Speaker 2: and tired of a left woke agenda and proved that
35:38
Speaker 2: last night President's Trump policies will again help America recover
35:42
Speaker 2: from the devastating policies of the Democratic Party. Hey, candidates, the.
35:46
Speaker 3: Election is over.

40:02
Speaker 2: and that is Donald Trump is going to be the
40:06
Speaker 2: first president number forty five and forty seven of these here,
40:10
Speaker 2: United States of America. Your takes her.
40:12
Speaker 5: It's the largest comeback, theysed comeback in the history of
40:15
Speaker 5: American politics. And I'll tell you a quick story. What's
40:20
Speaker 5: this stuff you said will be flying.
40:22
Speaker 2: Off the shelves, the brondeode And I had to look
40:25
Speaker 2: up to see what brondo was well, because I didn't know.
40:28
Speaker 5: When Cassie Hutchinson I read her book and she said
40:32
Speaker 5: that when he was putting on the mask, he said,
40:36
Speaker 5: the brondo came off on his cords and that's why
40:40
Speaker 5: he didn't want to like to wear a mask because
40:43
Speaker 5: the White Corps, you know, the white bands, and that's
40:47
Speaker 5: why Trump didn't like to wear well.
40:48
Speaker 2: There are multiple matches for Brondo, according to the Google Machine,
40:52
Speaker 2: a fictional drink from the movie Idiocracy, a real energy drink,
40:57
Speaker 2: and a brewery kettle sour pale wheat ale real energy drink.
41:01
Speaker 2: It's amino acid activator. Apparently, there's a lot of different
41:04
Speaker 2: definitions of it. So you want to You told me
41:08
Speaker 2: last night, though they let me see it. You told
41:10
Speaker 2: me last night. And you've kind of gone back and
41:12
Speaker 2: forth because different information becomes available. But last night, when
41:15
Speaker 2: you came in with me on the WCHS coverage before
41:18
Speaker 2: we started, you said to me at about six forty
41:21
Speaker 2: five last night, Trump's gonna win this thing.
41:23
Speaker 12: Yeah.
41:23
Speaker 5: And I told Hope that almost a week ago. Yeah,
41:27
Speaker 5: And because you could tell by the moods of the campaign.
41:31
Speaker 5: And I think that he he ended every every one
41:39
Speaker 5: of his rallies with and all his public appearances. Are
41:42
Speaker 5: you better off now than you were four years ago?
41:45
Speaker 5: And the answer to that is obviously not. And Vice
41:50
Speaker 5: President Harris never offered a solution to that or really anything.
41:55
Speaker 5: There's just no there there. I hate now that's over.
41:57
Speaker 2: I can say that, you know, to comment from Martha
42:00
Speaker 2: Radditts of ABC News on the radio this morning, she said,
42:04
Speaker 2: and they asked her for her take on it, and
42:06
Speaker 2: she said that she felt the voters never really got
42:09
Speaker 2: to know Kamala Harris. I don't agree with that, Danny,
42:12
Speaker 2: and I'll tell you why, because she's been in public
42:14
Speaker 2: life for most of her adult life in.
42:17
Speaker 3: One way or the other.
42:18
Speaker 2: She's been the vice president, she ran a failed campaign before.
42:21
Speaker 2: If you didn't know Kamala Harris, that's on you now. Granted,
42:24
Speaker 2: some of her her views have changed a little bit
42:27
Speaker 2: when she ran for president.
42:28
Speaker 3: That makes her worse. But yeah, I agree.
42:30
Speaker 2: But if you say you don't know who Kamala Harris
42:32
Speaker 2: was and voters were confused by it or whatever, I mean,
42:35
Speaker 2: it's all out there.
42:36
Speaker 3: You know, I don't buy.
42:38
Speaker 2: I have a lot of respect for Martha Radditts, but
42:39
Speaker 2: I don't agree with what she said there at all,
42:40
Speaker 2: because it's all out there, Danny.
42:42
Speaker 5: What and whether it's right or wrong, the whole all
42:46
Speaker 5: those court cases called law fair, that's what the Republicans
42:51
Speaker 5: call it. Yeah, that works in Trump's favor.
42:53
Speaker 3: I agreed.
42:53
Speaker 5: Now, I still got a bunch of them.
42:55
Speaker 3: Head, I've got a.
42:55
Speaker 2: Sentencing November twenty seventh. As a matter of fact, Well
43:00
Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, that's what it is.
43:02
Speaker 5: That's what the chat smith could try to put him
43:04
Speaker 5: on in the dock in d C before he takes office.
43:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean we got a lot of We
43:11
Speaker 2: had a lot of stuff that's going to happen between
43:13
Speaker 2: now and inauguration.
43:14
Speaker 5: I mean yeah, And a lot of people got a
43:16
Speaker 5: thumb in their eye last night.
43:18
Speaker 3: Who sold his people took a thumb in the eye your.
43:20
Speaker 5: George Stephanoflis, Jonathan Carl, Martha Rabbits. You know, I'll flip
43:27
Speaker 5: everyone watch MSNBC. I never I don't think I've ever
43:31
Speaker 5: watched it.
43:31
Speaker 3: I did the same thing when I went home last night.
43:33
Speaker 5: It wasn't bad, No, it wasn't bad. And they had
43:35
Speaker 5: a guy that was doing all the handicapping. He was
43:38
Speaker 5: over working on desk by himself, and he.
43:40
Speaker 3: Was really good.
43:41
Speaker 5: He was saying why the victories were coming in like this,
43:44
Speaker 5: and who won the county before, and how much they
43:47
Speaker 5: wanted by and this is a good bell weather for
43:50
Speaker 5: trun The god was really good. But I never saw
43:54
Speaker 5: any breakdowns. Now what they would do, and they did
43:57
Speaker 5: this on NBC and on ABC. They said, well maybe if, maybe, if, maybe,
44:04
Speaker 5: if Grandma had been built a little differently, she'd been Grandpa,
44:07
Speaker 5: you know. But it was it all came down to Pennsylvania.
44:11
Speaker 2: And as you said it would last night, you said,
44:13
Speaker 2: that's Pennsylvania. What did you post on Facebook, Danny, Pennsylvania's
44:16
Speaker 2: the whole Enchilader, big, the big Inchilode. Yeah, and it
44:19
Speaker 2: turned out to be out it was, And it's the
44:22
Speaker 2: new inch Lootte. Because it used to be for Republicans
44:25
Speaker 2: you had to carry Ohio and Florida to win the presidency.
44:28
Speaker 2: Now it's Pennsylvania. Uh, and Trump can carry it. I'm
44:32
Speaker 2: not sure any other Republican can. But the good news
44:34
Speaker 2: out of Pennsylvania. Forget Trump for a minute. They are
44:37
Speaker 2: going to send a superstar to the United States Senate
44:40
Speaker 2: and his name is David McCormick. And you couldn't do
44:43
Speaker 2: any better than this guy. I've been watching him for
44:45
Speaker 2: a long time and he got beat in the primary
44:48
Speaker 2: because Trump wanted doctor Oz last time.
44:51
Speaker 5: But he is really good, David. Yes, and they you know,
44:56
Speaker 5: of course, shared Brown. I think they're going to have
44:58
Speaker 5: about fifty three fifty three Republican senators, and that may
45:03
Speaker 5: be enough to do a majority. Because you got two
45:06
Speaker 5: Maverick senators, one Susan Collins, and the other is the
45:10
Speaker 5: one from Alaska, and she's worse, right, Susan Collins, you
45:15
Speaker 5: might be able to hold in the fold.
45:16

47:34
Speaker 2: Seven minutes away from ten Dave Allen, Danny Jones here
47:38
Speaker 2: talking election last night. Heymy, I want to get your
47:41
Speaker 2: your take on this. This was something that was in
47:42
Speaker 2: the Washington Post at a friend of mine. Screenshot of
47:44
Speaker 2: the sent to me it says House Democrats said, the
47:48
Speaker 2: Democratic Party has a major working class voter issue. It
47:52
Speaker 2: started a decade ago as a working class white issue.
47:55
Speaker 2: It's now gotten even worse and spread across racial wines. Now,
47:59
Speaker 2: I don't know who's that that didn't say, but a
48:01
Speaker 2: off the record a House Democrats said Democratic Party has
48:04
Speaker 2: a major working class voter issue. It started a decade
48:07
Speaker 2: ago as a working class white issue. It's now gotten
48:09
Speaker 2: even worse and spread across racial line.
48:11
Speaker 5: Well Mark Penn, who's a former Clinton polster and a
48:14
Speaker 5: Democrat talking head on Fox, he said pretty well the
48:17
Speaker 5: same thing. He said, we have to get back to
48:20
Speaker 5: the mainstream or middle of American politics instead of catering
48:24
Speaker 5: to the left fringe. And of course the problem with
48:27
Speaker 5: that is they're going to have AOC turned into Marjorie
48:31
Speaker 5: Taylor Green if they do that. So that's a problem
48:35
Speaker 5: for them. It's a problem for Republicans too, because you
48:38
Speaker 5: got these people in the House, people like Marjorie Taylor Green,
48:42
Speaker 5: Nancy May So, what's that guy from Florida with the
48:44
Speaker 5: high forehead that gets yeah. I mean, they're interested in
48:48
Speaker 5: their own thing.
48:50
Speaker 3: They're interested in their own brand.
48:51
Speaker 5: They're not interested in helping the Republican Party or helping
48:54
Speaker 5: the country. That's my feeling.
48:56
Speaker 2: But they aalance showing five eighty life brought to you
48:58
Speaker 2: right by Husbands Pizza where a Hustin's large at inch
49:00
Speaker 2: Pepperoni pizza and a Pizza Dia only twenty one ninety nine.
49:04
Speaker 2: Textas ask Danny, when do we start rioting?
49:08
Speaker 5: You know what, maybe it won't happen this time.
49:11
Speaker 2: Maybe Peter when he told me that Al Sharpton spoke
49:13
Speaker 2: on MSNBC or something and said.
49:14
Speaker 3: There will be no riots. There will be good for him. Yeah,
49:17
Speaker 3: because they shouldn't, because we're going to accept.
49:19
Speaker 7: This, you know.
49:20
Speaker 5: And I just always hope with President Trump because I'm
49:24
Speaker 5: not a supporter, and I always hope that he'll behave
49:28
Speaker 5: and quit punching down at people. That's his biggest that's
49:31
Speaker 5: his biggest sin. He punches down at people. Yep. And
49:35
Speaker 5: it's really it's hard to take and it's not fair
49:39
Speaker 5: because he's he's the top dog, and you know, punching
49:42
Speaker 5: down like that. Uh uh, Liz Cheney, I mean, you
49:45
Speaker 5: don't be a sore winner. Man.
49:48
Speaker 2: Well, I mean, look, you know, I've made my my
49:51
Speaker 2: feelings on President Trump.
49:52
Speaker 3: Well, known.
49:52
Speaker 2: I was a supporter, voted for him twice, can no
49:55
Speaker 2: longer support him. However, he is my president, and I'm
49:59
Speaker 2: I'm kind of old school that way that Joe Biden,
50:02
Speaker 2: whom I did not vote for, did not support, did
50:04
Speaker 2: not support his policies, was my president. Kamala Harris, had
50:08
Speaker 2: she been elected, would have been my president. That's kind
50:11
Speaker 2: of the way this whole American thing works. Danny, Yeah,
50:14
Speaker 2: it works.
50:14
Speaker 5: Here's what I'm afraid of. They're gonna mess up his inauguration.
50:18
Speaker 5: In other words, last time who uh the left and
50:21
Speaker 5: the way they'll do it. Anybody that he tries to
50:24
Speaker 5: get to perform, they'll say, you go there and we're
50:27
Speaker 5: gonna ruin your well.
50:28
Speaker 3: I mean you know it's gonna be Lee Green. What
50:29
Speaker 3: it's gonna be wholek Cogan.
50:30
Speaker 2: I mean you can pretty much go ahead and and
50:32
Speaker 2: and and and and write it down.
50:34
Speaker 3: Now that's who it's gonna be. Well last time, no man, I.
50:36
Speaker 2: Mean am I and I could be wrong. I don't
50:38
Speaker 2: think any quote unquote main and we'll all do respect
50:41
Speaker 2: to Lee Green. What the guy's not how to hit
50:42
Speaker 2: in thirty five forty years. I don't know that you're
50:47
Speaker 2: gonna get a a list celebrity.
50:49
Speaker 3: Well, I want to perform.
50:50
Speaker 5: Last time he had Garth Brooks and they got to
50:52
Speaker 5: him and he said, sorry, I can't do it. Andrew Richelli,
50:55
Speaker 5: the blind opera singer, can't do it.
50:58
Speaker 3: It used to be and things like that, they were
51:00
Speaker 3: for everybody. It was an honor to be asked to
51:03
Speaker 3: do that. And it wasn't an endorsement of the political candidate,
51:06
Speaker 3: you know.
51:06
Speaker 5: For me, it's for everybody.
51:07
Speaker 2: All right.
51:08
Speaker 3: Let me read a text here.
51:09
Speaker 2: While I voted for none of the Republicans that won,
51:11
Speaker 2: as a text, I'm not sad they won. I think
51:13
Speaker 2: the future In the future, many problems are going to
51:16
Speaker 2: service based on the amount of tax cuts and moneys
51:18
Speaker 2: needed to solve problems.
51:19
Speaker 3: In West Virginia. The problems are many and will not
51:22
Speaker 3: solve themselves.
51:23
Speaker 5: Danny, Yeah, I get yeah, you're right.
51:30
Speaker 2: Do you like the way that I mean, give me
51:32
Speaker 2: your opinion of the way West Virginia's handed right now,
51:34
Speaker 2: because again Patrick.
51:35
Speaker 5: Morrison run out of money.
51:36
Speaker 2: Patrick Morris is going to be your governor. Jim Justice,
51:38
Speaker 2: at least for a while, is going to be in Washington.
51:40
Speaker 13: Uh.
51:41
Speaker 3: More seats were picked up Super duper, duper majority now.
51:45
Speaker 5: And you think West Virginia is gonna run out of money,
51:47
Speaker 5: I think it's gonna come to that.
51:49
Speaker 3: You know.
51:49
Speaker 5: I'll tell you what I think they're gonna have to do.
51:52
Speaker 5: I think they're going to have to privatize Pei.
51:54
Speaker 3: It's been talked about before, the way which used.
51:58
Speaker 7: To be pe I B.
52:00
Speaker 5: And I think they're gonna have to privatize it, put
52:03
Speaker 5: it off onto Blue Cross or somebody like that, and
52:07
Speaker 5: then it you know, it's gonna be h It's gonna
52:12
Speaker 5: be tough on the employees because then the government can say, well,
52:15
Speaker 5: look that's them. We can't make that up now, because
52:20
Speaker 5: they control it. The government controls it, they can make
52:23
Speaker 5: it up.
52:25
Speaker 2: Let me throw this in here, the impact of Special
52:26
Speaker 2: Olympics and since far beyond the athletes themselves. Well, there's
52:29
Speaker 2: a great video the Highlights of Special Olympics. You can
52:32
Speaker 2: check it out and it's all brought to you by
52:34
Speaker 2: the fine folks at Huntington, tex says Dave called it
52:36
Speaker 2: earlier this morning. Montana Senator Democrat John Tester has lost
52:40
Speaker 2: his seat to Tim Sheehey.
52:42
Speaker 5: Big deal, it, says the Texter, And so did Shared
52:46
Speaker 5: Brown and boy boy, I'm gonna miss those TV cops. Oh,
52:51
Speaker 5: Mike Rogers, I think he won in Michigan.
52:53
Speaker 3: All right, give me the last thirty seconds here.
52:55
Speaker 2: Danny on your take on Trump Trump winning the White House.
53:00
Speaker 5: I think it's a big deal, biggest comeback in h
53:02
Speaker 5: history American politics. I'm always uptimistic at times like this,
53:05
Speaker 5: even what a guy didn't vote for. But I want
53:09
Speaker 5: President Trump in our country to be successful.
53:11
Speaker 3: Good way to leave it.
53:12
Speaker 2: Former Charleston Mayor Danny Jones coming up on Talk Linteno six,
