Number one, what's a false voice? A false voice is someone claiming to be from God that's not.

It's a thought or message that contradicts the word of God.

It's a voice that produces fear, bondage, confusion, a lie that's told repeatedly.

You know, I remember one time I was doing a tent event and a woman actually

told the guy, if you keep doing stuff like that, God's going to kill you.

I was like, are you out of your mind?

And this guy got so scared. It was bad. Well, that's from the devil.

A prophet doesn't come and say, hey, you're going to die.

That's insane. Not in this day and age, because you're supposed to have a spirit

of God on the inside of you that can warn you.

So this lie produced fear. And the fear, I had to undo it because he was really upset.

That's how the devil operates. He just tells you a lie, hopes you'll believe

it, and then you're going to be a mess.

Jeremiah 23, 16, the Lord says, don't listen to the words of the prophets.

They prophesy in vain. They speak a vision from their own heart,

and it's not out of the mouth of God. So the Bible, go look it up yourself.

The Bible actually tells you there are so-called preachers, and they say they're

talking from God, but they're not. It's from their own self.

Some voices are not from the mouth of God. They're out of the hearts and some

bad hearts of human beings.

Jeremiah 14, 14. Then the Lord said, These prophets prophesy lies.

I didn't send them, neither have I commanded them.

But they prophesy a false vision of divination and a thing that is not true,

of deceit of their heart.

So a false voice can sound religious, but it could potentially be a lie.

So what do false prophets and false beliefs do?

Well, they make you trust the lie. They keep you weak. They make you confused.

They keep you passive. They keep you in bondage.

Jeremiah 28, 15, we see an example. There's this prophet, the prophet Jeremiah

and Hanei, the prophet said, hear Hanei, the Lord did not send you,

but you make the people trust the lie.

See, that's what the devil's trying to do. I don't know. Have you ever had someone

speak into your life and say something crappy?

You know, thus says the Lord, your life is going to be a hardship.

But sometimes people don't know. And maybe it's not someone saying, hey, thus says the Lord.

Maybe you grew up like me, where your dad's like, you're never going to be anything.

Maybe you grew up like that. That's a lie. That's a lying voice from hell meant to keep you down.

And it doesn't matter how much Bible, how many books, whatever,

if you still have a voice in your head that lies to you, that's where the struggle is going to be.

False voices make you believe in a lie. That's what they do.

1 John 4, 1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but test the spirits,

whether they're from God, because there are many false prophets that have gone

out among you. You can't believe every voice.

You just can't. You have to try and test the spirit. You know we're living in

a day and age where anybody can grab a mic and say they're a preacher.

See if there's actually a scripture that tells you there's false prophets before

So there's a lot of people that are telling you stuff and it's not biblical.

God wants to make some people sick. Really?

Show me one Bible verse where Jesus put hands on people and made them sick. It's not in there.

God wants you broke. Really? Show me some Bible verse where God came and took

He rewarded Solomon. He rewarded Abraham. He rewarded David.

Everything that looks good is not safe. Everything that sounds spiritual is not from God.

And what is a false belief? Now, this is how you identify if you've been kind

Sometimes you tell yourself, nothing's ever going to change.

I'll never be free from this. This is just how I am. There's no point in trying.

God must want me stuck. I've failed before. I'll fail again.

This is what's called learned helplessness.

All right. I've operated in this sometimes, but I just figured out what this is.

What in the world is learned helplessness? Well, it's when a person goes through

so much pain, defeat, disappointment, delay, and they stop believing that change

is possible. Isn't that sad?

This is why the Bible says, don't grow weary in doing good, for you will reap

in due season if you don't faint.

He's telling you, don't quit. Whatever you do, don't quit.

So learned helplessness is when you stop trying, you stop expecting,

you stop fighting, you quit moving.

It's when there's repeated defeat, and it teaches you to expect a defeat.

I saw this teacher. She had words on a page. She split the class in half.

On the right side, the first two words were different. The third word was the same.

On the right side, the first two words were easy. On the left side, they were unsolvable.

But the third word was the same. So she'd tell the class, when you've rearranged

the words, lift your hands.

Well, immediately, the right side lifted their hands twice, while the left side

couldn't because their words were unsolvable.

Then the third word that was solvable, the right side lifted their hand,

the left side still did not. Why?

Because they learned both times that the words couldn't be solved,

so they just assumed the third time the word couldn't be solved.

That's learned helplessness.

Or another example, baby elephant chain around its leg. When it's a baby,

it can't break the chain.

It's a full-grown elephant. It can snap that chain in half, but it has learned to be helpless.

Think about your life and ask yourself, is there a thought that someone's put

All right. Bible example of helpless thinking, John 5.5.

A certain man had an infirmity 38 years. That's a long time to suffer, man.

When Jesus saw him, he knew that he'd been there for a long time,

and he said, Will you be made whole?

The impotent man said, Sir, I don't have anyone to help me. When I come,

somebody else gets in before me.

So he was kind of feeling helpless. The man had been in that condition for a

long time. And he basically said, I don't have any man to help me.

He didn't think there was any help for him. But when Jesus shows up,

he doesn't feed your excuses. He calls you to rise.

Jesus didn't agree with this helplessness. When he said, do you want to be well?

The guy's like, I don't have anyone to help me.

And notice Jesus didn't say, I know, it's so sad. You don't have any.

He just said, get up and walk. He didn't give into his excuses.

So that's what God's saying to you today. Just get up.

Keep going. Don't quit. God's on your side.

What about the 10 spies in Numbers 13, 31? The men went up and said, we can't get this land.

There's people there and they're stronger than us. This has learned helplessness.

Numbers 13, they brought an evil report, which they searched the land saying

the land, although it's got milk and honey, these people are too big and there's giants in the land.

And in Numbers 13, Caleb stilled the people and said, let us go up and get it. We're well able.

Come on. If God tells you you can do it, you can do it. Beloved,

above all things, we should prosper and be in health. The Bible tells you you can be prosperous.

Well, I don't think I'll ever get there. It doesn't matter what you think.

The Bible has a different story.

The preaching points are it's the same land, the same promise,

the same God, but it's different voices.

Nothing changed in the spies and Joshua and Caleb.

It was the same land. It still had giants, but two guys believed God while the rest didn't.

someone else has been given a better break than you.

But that's not the case. It's not about somebody getting a better break that

You have to say you're well able. The battle was not first in the land.

The devil knows if he can defeat you in the brain, you're never going to get what God promised.

So how can you tell if this voice that you hear or you read or you hear,

whatever, how can you tell if it's from God?

Well, number one, God's voice agrees with his word. He'll never tell you something

that contradicts the Bible.

1 John 4, 1, Beloved, don't believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they're from God.

So you have to look. What's the Bible say? Does the Bible say he wants me prosperous?

Yes, he does. Then I guess he does. The Bible say he wants me healthy?

God's voice might correct you, but it won't torment you. God will convict you,

but the enemy condemns you.

God will lead you, the enemy pushes you. God brings clarity,

And the Bible says in 2 Timothy 1.7, God didn't give you a spirit of fear,

but power, love, and sound mind.

If the voice that you hear, whether the radio, a preacher, or whatever,

if it fills you with fear, bondage, and confusion, it's not from God. Pretty simple.

God's voice will challenge you, but it brings strength and peace.

Isaiah 41.10, fear not. You know, God always says, don't be afraid.

Hack number two, renew your mind to the Word of God, Romans 12.

Don't be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your

mind. If your mind can be renewed, then your thinking can change.

Hack three, cast down wrong thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10.

The weapons of our warfare aren't carnal, but they're mighty,

pulling down a stronghold, casting down imaginations and every high thing. What does it mean?

Not every thought is a thought from you or even a thought from God.

Not every thought needs to be thought about.

What are you thinking about? Don't think about that. Get that out of your head.

Hack four, speak what God says. Proverbs 18, 21. Death and life are in the power

I didn't speak to them, but they prophesied. So there are false prophets.

And you test the voices by testing every spirit.

For God didn't give you a spirit of fear. If it's fearful or whatever,

it didn't come from God. That's how you test it.

And what is the way out? Be transformed by renewing your mind.
