- 0:08up. So we have Travita, we have Black Diamond, and we have
- 0:16Alma. What's going on, ladies, Okay, So we're gonna this is
- 0:26real this night. So she's been trying to get back in, you guys
- 0:30and for some reason to kick her totally out and she can't get back in.
- 0:34So I said, what do you want us to do? Like?
- 0:40Okay, So she's like, y'all go on, and she will continue to
- 0:46try to get back in. So hi, y'all. Okay, So tonight,
- 0:56you guys, we're supposed to be talking about, you know, the
- 0:58holidays, which is right on the corner. Mm hmm. I got a
- 1:02question for y'all. Okay, I'm not a cooker. I'm the person in
- 1:07the family to bring the drinks, the juices, do laugh at. I
- 1:14got to so, what is this raisin and a potato salad thing? I
- 1:19mean, my family doesn't do it, but do any of you guys do
- 1:22it? No? No, no, that's that's not a black thing anyway,
- 1:27that's not what we do. That's that's not it's not an option and
- 1:34it's not an ingredient on the list to make potato salad. Y'all don't do
- 1:41potato salad and Thanksgiving we do, but it doesn't have raisins in it.
- 1:48Black Diamond, we can't hear you. I said, I do. I
- 1:51make potato salad, but I don't put raisins in it. Yeah, that's
- 1:53not an ingredient on the list for potato salad. It's just not the potato
- 2:00salad. Yeah, yeah, that that's just not there. Not sure where
- 2:07that comes from, but no, I mean, everybody talk about it.
- 2:15I think it comes from a skit that someone did a few years ago when
- 2:21they were having kind of like a pot look kind of situation and someone of
- 2:38another race brought the potato salad and it had raisins in it, and that
- 2:45they they they had to ask the question who made the potato salad because it
- 2:52doesn't go here. Raisins don't go in potato salad. So it's a little
- 2:57skit. If I can find it, I'll post sick. But yeah,
- 3:01mm hmmm, that's not one that we do at all. Now I do
- 3:08cook. However, I've never ever done that one. So I guess what's
- 3:16everybody's favorite dish for Thanksgiving? As far as to make eat like, you
- 3:29look like you can throw down on some color greens, you look like you
- 3:31can do it. Go ahead, let me tell you. I know how
- 3:37to cook, but I don't like cooking. Being the youngest of eight that
- 3:43everybody else cooked, and when they told the children to get out of the
- 3:46kitchen, I was probably one of the first ones to leave. Watch Ever,
- 3:51I watched my mom and my sisters. Now one of my sisters,
- 3:53she can really cook. I watched them cook, and they don't think that
- 3:57I was paying attention. I was paying attention. I just didn't want to
- 3:59cook. It was really no need to. And then when I got married,
- 4:02my husband wanted to cook. So I was like, oh, real,
- 4:04baby, I don't have to cook. Babies, you know, they
- 4:09had baby food and stuff like that. I didn't have to cook, but
- 4:12he cooked. And then by the time he stopped cooking, my children got
- 4:15older. Then they started cooking, So I never really cooked. I do
- 4:18cook Thanksgiving. Now that's a meal that I have to cook. Okay,
- 4:21okay, I have to cook Thanksgiving for two reasons. For two nobody else
- 4:26wants to cook Thanksgiving for three. I really don't like anybody messing up my
- 4:30kitchen. And I know when I sit down after cooking everything, I want
- 4:33a meal that I know that I cooked. I don't want to be sitting
- 4:36there question like who made the potato salad? But mustard in her potato salad.
- 4:43I used to tease her and say that this was soup. Get the
- 4:46straws because it was just so loose all the time. But darkness, Yeah,
- 4:51a potato salad. At least, I'll say. I'll miss seeing it,
- 4:56you know, not eating. I've been seeing it so matter of fact,
- 5:02I just went out and bought some some Hamhoks for my Greens. So
- 5:06see, there you go your fame. A Greens person put this way.
- 5:12They never complained. If they did, they went in secret and complained that
- 5:15mommy can't cook. But I've never heard them. Now he tells people in
- 5:19a minute, my mommy can't cook. Well, yes, what you are
- 5:21healthy and hungry and sol me long air, God promise you bread and water,
- 5:27meat and meeting the side is a luxury. They don't look like the
- 5:31starving, so right, come up here and say that they starving so that
- 5:36I must be doing something. Yeah, my kids grew up on home cooked
- 5:44food, so it's a rare occasion when they want to go to a restaurant.
- 5:47Like my kids staged an intervention one time because I had been working so
- 5:54much that I was just stop on the way home to like Burger King,
- 6:00McDonald's, KFC whatever. On the way home. One day I came home.
- 6:04I got home probably about six o'clock. I got off a little early.
- 6:09Do you know. My children put a chair in the middle of the
- 6:12floor in the living room and said, we need to talk. I said,
- 6:15what are we talking about? They say, we need to discuss this
- 6:21menu, this food that you keep bringing here. And I'm like, okay,
- 6:26y'all are eating. What's the problem? No, Ma, we like
- 6:30home cooked meals. We like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans,
- 6:33collars, turnips, all of this stuff. We like cakes, cookies
- 6:39and pies and brownies too, So what's the problem. I said, Well,
- 6:44first off, y'all like the car that I'm driving. Y'all like this
- 6:49roof over your head. Y'all like to be able to watch the behinds and
- 6:54everything, which means and I have to work, So which one of these
- 6:58luxuries, would you like to get it up? Give up in order for
- 7:00me to continue to prepare these nice meals for you. And they were like,
- 7:05okay, well, since you put it that way, we'll settle for
- 7:09this, but can we at least make sure that we have a home cooked
- 7:14meal at least twice out of the week. So yeah, my kids are
- 7:19home cooked children. They don't believe in eating out like that, and that's
- 7:27my fault. So I can't really complain too much because I spoiled them that
- 7:31way. How about you. I thank god that since I've been sick,
- 7:42my daughter cooked. She's twenty one years old, and she really was watching
- 7:46me in the kitchen because there's nothing she can't prepare. But my favorite from
- 7:53Thanksgiving is nothing. And when I used to cook, my family would always
- 7:59want me to either make Aalian food or the peach cobbler because it wasn't until
- 8:05I was in college that they found out I could cook. Because I just
- 8:13get up cut up potatoes every day. I'd be like, I come with
- 8:16my sister. It's a wonderful cook and she loves to cook. As a
- 8:20matter of fact, she's cooking the whole Thing's giving dinner. I just oh,
- 8:28okay, now it was Angela. I know you're about to throw down
- 8:33in the kitchen. What you cooking? No, I'm not. I never
- 8:43have none of that. But I can cook. That's the funny thing is
- 8:52I can cook. Like if if my sister, right to this day say
- 9:00I want you to cook something, I can cook it. But I just
- 9:03know my sister she is. She's the baker in the family. The people
- 9:07want cakes, pies or whatever, they always call her. But now so
- 9:11she done went up on her prices. People don't want to pay. They
- 9:15won't. They say she got the best cakes, but they don't want to
- 9:16pay. But she she hands down like she everything. Always we used to
- 9:24go to her house for everything. Yeah, always, Holidays was always her
- 9:33house. I don't care where it was. And then even if she if
- 9:35we was at one of my family members say, we used to go to
- 9:39my aunt's house for Christmas. If we did Thanksgiving at my sister's house.
- 9:43We used to go to my aunt's for Christmas. But my sister will always
- 9:46be the one bringing most of everything. They always say, well, in
- 9:50that brain, this, in that brain this, and that brain this,
- 9:54And she always seemed like she just cooked the whole meal at home and just
- 9:58took it there. But yeah, she she the cook. I don't need
- 10:05none of that. But I can cook, don't get it wrong. Now
- 10:11I'm mad and I can cook, but I just choose not. See.
- 10:20That's why I because even at my job and it's some of my best fool
- 10:24that I can cook this food. I don't even eat Huh, macaroni cheese.
- 10:31I don't like. Huh, you don't like macaronis macaroni cheese. What's
- 10:41the matter? I mean, we have to revisit this besty relationship and see
- 10:48macaroni and cheese. I'm like, you got to have the macaroni and cheese,
- 10:54like I'm making you a nice cheese. You see mac and cheese,
- 11:00But I don't need it. Speaking of cheese, I don't eat okay,
- 11:09and you from South Carolina. You don't eat grits, no fishing grits,
- 11:16no shrimp and grits. Rice. I like rice, Okay, I love
- 11:24you, Okay, my feelings hurt. I just don't. I just don't
- 11:37understand. Like we just had shrimp grits not too long ago, because Nate
- 11:43wanted though, so I made him. That's when we ended up having for
- 11:46dinner. Yes, grits, but she just she's like, I don't do
- 11:54grits. Mm hmm, cheese grits. It's a lot of you will probably
- 12:05talk about y'all will probably talking about that. I don't eat like. I
- 12:07don't like turkey decks. I don't like turkey wings. I don't like what
- 12:16what do you eat? What? What's the name of the the cow tails?
- 12:24What's that's called? I sell tell I don't like them either. I
- 12:33don't eat that either. But yeah, okay, she just likes chicken.
- 12:37That's that's that's just like chicken. It's okay that that's what I got.
- 12:46She just like chicken like I eat turkey. I just don't like the in
- 12:54the oh, I eat chicken. Yeah, I know you eat the chicken.
- 13:07I'm so confused, how are you? Okay? So who I'm cooking
- 13:28at house? Well, I gotta cook, but I gotta take it to
- 13:31Kyla's house. I can talk. Oh. Now. My favorite dessert is
- 13:39a pound cake. It don't even matter. Can be traditional, it could
- 13:41be sour cream, pound cake, whatever. But like my favorite one to
- 13:48make, I would say, is my red velvet cheesecake with almond cream cheese
- 13:54froster. It's my favorite one to make and my kids love it. And
- 13:58then and I do a strawberry short cake, the strawberry short cake with almond
- 14:07cream cheese frosting as well, and a red velvet cheesecake cake. Like I
- 14:26just made no baked cheesecakes for the kids this past Sunday. And when I
- 14:33tell you there were there was no cheesecake left. Like I did a homemade
- 14:39no baked cheesecake. I made four of them, two for my house and
- 14:45two for Kiwa's house, and there's there was none left by Tuesday, and
- 14:54I made them on Sunday. So this is how this is about. And
- 14:58I I found have you ever heard of a pecan cheesecake. It's a mix
- 15:09between a pecan pie and a cheesecake. Yep, make them. Uh huh.
- 15:15I've done a strawberry sports cake with the R cheesecake double food in it.
- 15:22So yeah, I just listen. I love to cook. I love
- 15:26the bake, and I love to come up with different recipes, which is
- 15:28part of the reason why my kids are the way that they are when it
- 15:31comes to food and cooking. So yeah, but yeah, I've done that
- 15:37before too. Why are you making that face? O time? Yeah,
- 15:46y'all are two other kinds? What your bacon over that? For trees?
- 15:50Oh? Big what? I have a home girl who I go to for
- 15:56my bigon. Her name is Kimberlieve, and she has this thing called Pink
- 16:02Butterfly, and she does all the cakes and stuff I don't. I'm trying
- 16:07to get my line up because I'm about to go to Black Diamond, catch
- 16:11a flight the Black Diamond's house to get the greens. Then I'm coming to
- 16:15Myrtle Beach and i gotta get the rights for the greens. Then I'm going
- 16:18to Amma and get the peach cobbler, and then I'm gonna come on back
- 16:22around to be I'm gonna have to call Deltonnsey if they do some type of
- 16:26discount for me as something and all. I'll bring sodas to everybody house I
- 16:34mean, and I'll bring the real sos. I won't bring big. There's
- 16:47only three in my household, Like these kids don't believe in well jeans doesn't
- 16:55leave leftovers. I'm that's ever any leftovers in my house. So even when
- 17:03it's just myself and Nathan here, like my oldest son is home now,
- 17:07and so there's definitely no leftovers. But when it's just me and Nathan,
- 17:15there's never leftovers there. I don't know what a leftover is at all,
- 17:22because it doesn't last. Like the last thing that I tried myself. There's
- 17:30a recipe that I saw that I wanted to try, and it was asparagus
- 17:33stuffed chicken with the Creole sauce on it. Now, you know the cafeteria
- 17:40pants that you have that has that's a really big deep pan. Now I'm
- 17:47trying to do something that I'm not quite sure if anybody's gonna like it,
- 17:51but I made a big pan of it just in case, thinking okay,
- 17:56if they don't like it, at least i'll have some for, you know,
- 17:59lunch the next day. When I tell you, like, we had
- 18:02the stuff asparagus chicken, I made some pasta to go with it, and
- 18:07of course the asparagus, and I made the Creo sauce. So I'm thinking,
- 18:11okay, this should be enough for me to have lunch. When I
- 18:15tell you, I only got the plate that I made to eat dinner that
- 18:19night and that was it. I went back for seconds and they had all
- 18:23been in there and got the rest, and I'm like, hold on,
- 18:27there was a whole pen of chicken and asparagus and pasta. What happened?
- 18:37Oh you didn't. You didn't put your plate up for your second helping.
- 18:41I was like, I didn't think I needed to. There was plenty.
- 18:45Oh well, you know you should have put that up because it's gone,
- 18:48y'all? Would the pans were empty and in the sink there was enough.
- 18:52I was so mad because I was like, this was a trial one.
- 18:56They said, well, add that to the recipe box because that you need
- 19:00to run that one back. So y'all, I just I don't know.
- 19:04Anything that I come up with. They never have an issue with to say,
- 19:08well, don't make that no more. That wasn't good, Well don't
- 19:11try that. No anything that I have come up with, they end up
- 19:15eating at all. And if I don't put it away from my lunch or
- 19:21whatever, yeah, I don't get no more. I get to try it.
- 19:25I get to taste test. So there's never a leftover in this house.
- 19:30Left over where nowhere? Not here? Mm hmmm. Wow. And
- 19:41listen, let me tell you my very first meal that I had to cook
- 19:45when I was twelve because i'd always been in the kitchen up under my aunt
- 19:51when she would cook. And so we go to the grocery store. We
- 19:55in the winn Dixie. Were getting all the good stuff for dinner, Like
- 19:57we're getting the turnip green the stuff to make the macaroni and cheese, the
- 20:02candy gams, the pork chops, all of that. So I'm like,
- 20:04we're gonna eat good this Sunday. So we get home and I'm like,
- 20:08okay, bit ma, you get ready to cook. You was like,
- 20:11no, I'm not getting ready to cook. You finna cook. Wait a
- 20:15minute, I'm gonna do what she said. No, you're gonna wash them
- 20:19greens, you gonna cut them up, you gonna put them in the pen.
- 20:22You gonna peel them potatoes. You're gonna do all what is necessary because
- 20:26you're always up under my heel when I'm in here cooking. So you gonna
- 20:30cook. Come on on, bread from scratching everything. Now, y'all,
- 20:34I was twelve. I'm not really sure on what I'm doing. But she's
- 20:40supervising. She's not helping, she's just watching, literally, not really saying
- 20:45too much. I cook the dinner. My other aunt comes home, and
- 20:49so does my cousins. They come to eat dinner cause that's Sunday dinner at
- 20:55the house. So they eat their play and I'm like, lord, please
- 20:57don't let me kill nobody. They don't let me have them have upset stomachs
- 21:03or nothing. When they finished, they all thanked her for the meal,
- 21:07and she was like, I didn't cook that meal. They was like,
- 21:10well, who cooked? And she was like, y'all she never said my
- 21:12name right, and she was like, Terita cooked that meal, and so
- 21:18they were like VVU cooked. I said, she made me cook. I
- 21:21said, I hope y'all don't get sick or nothing, because she made me
- 21:25cook this food. She just sit in the chair and watched. So that
- 21:29was my very first meal at twelve, cooking all of that and the bake
- 21:33pork chops, the candy ams, the macaroni and cheese, the greens and
- 21:37the corn bread. That was my first Sunday dinner. And I've been cooking
- 21:42ever since. You could how you learned how to cook? Theatrees learn how
- 22:00to cook. I used to my grandmother. Everybody knew my grandma mother grumble
- 22:07for her cooking. Every my grandma, Oh lord, you used to go
- 22:11to church on the corner and the house next to the church. My granny
- 22:15be up all night cooking food for the church. After church, everybody come
- 22:22and eat, they sit down there, we go back to church at seven
- 22:25o'clock at night. So my family is known for cooking. Me. I
- 22:29didn't get all those jeans. I got the technology, Jean. I got
- 22:34to read the book, Jean, and I got the like to make people
- 22:38laugh, Jean. I know to fry. I could fry some mean chicken.
- 22:44But I know. But yeah, I'm not not. My sister lu
- 22:48Trees, she's the cooker. She can cook. My child has told me
- 22:53plenty of times. Can I go to Auntie Canda's house and eat? You
- 22:57can stay to Auntie candas house home. But no, I'm not the cooker.
- 23:03So this Thanksgiving we're going to my aunt Jackie's house, and it's like
- 23:10everybody brings their dish. You know, everybody got that one signature dish.
- 23:15That's what happened. And I bring the suitus in the juices in the water.
- 23:22See well, I mean they got to wash it down. So that's
- 23:26the necessity. That's an important part of the meal. I ain't got the
- 23:30good. I ain't get the check I got the good suits. See you
- 23:36know that that's the best part right there, and it's less clean up.
- 23:41Now. One year, y'all, they asked me to make, like the
- 23:45one meal that my family, my entire family loves for me to make,
- 23:48is lasagna. Like I don't know what that is about, but my lasagna
- 23:56is the staple of whenever somebody want something. That's the first thing that they
- 24:03asked when you make in lazagna. Because we're coming, So I have to
- 24:06make the cafeteria pan of lasagna, and I also have to make an additional
- 24:12pan because that's not enough. Like that pan gets gone and they're like,
- 24:22okay, so we need a pan that we can divide to take home.
- 24:27And I'm like, okay, that should have been enough. I had.
- 24:30I learned that lesson the hard way because the very first time I made it
- 24:33for my family and my uncle, he's a cook, he's a chef.
- 24:38He used to work at Watford College in the kitchen, and so it was
- 24:44always a competition between him and I with the lazagna. So one year we
- 24:48were at the beach and he was like, Okay, we're gonna compare the
- 24:52lazagnas. And I was like, Okay, I'm really not competing, but
- 24:57I'm gonna win because my lasagna's just better. He got mad. So,
- 25:03you know, it's always Vita's lasagna over anybody's. And I've had people who
- 25:10don't eat lazagna tell me that they like my lasagna even compared to the restaurants
- 25:18that they've been to. One gentleman like, I made it for church one
- 25:22time, y'all, and and a lot of people didn't. They didn't.
- 25:27They was like, well, we're not gonna eat that because we don't eat
- 25:30lazaia. Well, I was like, just taste it if you don't like
- 25:33it, it's not gonna hurt my feelings or whatever. I didn't have anything
- 25:37left. And there is one of the gentlemens that had never tasted lazaion,
- 25:41never ate it at all. He was the piano player for the men's choir.
- 25:47He would come to church on the opposite someday when he didn't have to
- 25:52play, just to see if I was there, to see if I could
- 25:53make him some lasagna. He told me the story of him going to a
- 25:59restaurant, I think like Capris or something like that, an Italian restaurant.
- 26:03He got mad at them because he said that they should not have that on
- 26:10the menu because it's not real lazagia. It was disgusting. I said,
- 26:15you can't go to people's restaurants where they make a living off of making this.
- 26:19He said, well, it didn't taste like yours, and it hurt
- 26:22my feelings and I wasted my money. So now I really need you to
- 26:26make me some so that I could get that nasty taste out of my So,
- 26:33yeah, lasagna is one of my other favorites to make for family and
- 26:38friends because they like it and I enjoy making it for them. So you
- 26:44know what, my sister, My sister make lazagia too. Like my first
- 26:52time eating lazagna was probably about six years ago. Years ago. Started making
- 27:00it because my mom didn't make it and it just reminded me of macaroni,
- 27:07so I didn't And when I tasted hers, it was so good, and
- 27:12like I only eat hers, ye made some. She made some about two
- 27:21weeks ago. She made a big old, like a big old tray of
- 27:26it, and I think I was the only one for two days. Woman
- 27:32it up and it just tastes better after that, I swear it tastes better
- 27:40the second day it definitely does. But y'all, yeah, I hope everybody
- 27:52have a happy Thanksgiving traveling, and that's all I just wanted to jump on.
- 28:03And I like having these little, these little powows so people can get
- 28:10a chance to see us outside of our shows because we can be so profecial
- 28:17trying to y'all do such a great job with our shows, and I like
- 28:22for people to see us in our natural realness so they can really get to
- 28:29know us and see how we are off the stream, so that that that's
- 28:33what this is really about. And I thank y'all for coming on and just
- 28:40sharing a little bit of naturally with with with those that support us. So
- 28:47thank you guys for your time, right. I truly appreciate you guys,
- 28:52and I hope that y'all have an amazing week and an amazing Thanksgiving. Black
- 28:57Diamond, you make sure you tell Grandma I said hello, And I will
- 29:03see y'all. Angela your fantasy y'all later on. All right, And oh,
