- 0:13- Welcome to the divine five one five pod
- 0:16- podcast. Here is this week's devotional.
- 0:21- Hello, and welcome to daily prayer with Valerie
- 0:24- Brochu.
- 0:26- It's my pleasure to be here and share
- 0:29- hope and inspiration with you today.
- 0:31- This week, week number three, we're gonna be
- 0:34- talking about how God uses peace, scripture, and
- 0:37- prayer to guide your decisions.
- 0:40- I wanna start off the conversation by saying
- 0:43- that
- 0:44- we as believers often are waiting for dramatic
- 0:47- signs from God while overlooking the ways he
- 0:49- already provides direction.
- 0:53- Now I don't know about you, but I'm
- 0:55- sure if you're like me, there's always
- 0:58- a point in your life where
- 1:01- you wanna do something, but you're not quite
- 1:03- sure if you should stop or if you
- 1:06- should go.
- 1:07- And what exactly does that look like? Right?
- 1:12- Well,
- 1:13- sometimes it's it's a faith walk. Right?
- 1:16- Because there can be any number of things
- 1:19- that can cause us to to pause.
- 1:22- And usually, a lot of times, that key
- 1:24- thing is often
- 1:26- fear.
- 1:27- And so
- 1:28- while we we have to use faith with
- 1:31- everything we do,
- 1:33- I am so glad to know that God's
- 1:35- word
- 1:37- is it really is a lamp,
- 1:40- a guide to help us.
- 1:41- And when we mix it with our our
- 1:43- faith
- 1:45- and and we just meditate, just sit still
- 1:48- before God, he really does get us where
- 1:51- it is that we need to be.
- 1:55- Now God often
- 1:57- guides through his word prayer and peace and
- 2:00- wise counsel rather than extraordinary
- 2:03- experiences.
- 2:04- And I think this is really important
- 2:06- to remember
- 2:07- because
- 2:08- we often look for the sensualized thing. Right?
- 2:12- We we we look for some dramatic thing
- 2:15- to happen.
- 2:17- But it's not in
- 2:20- the the
- 2:21- amazingly
- 2:22- big things
- 2:24- that that god gets our attention.
- 2:26- Right? Because he's often comp competing with distractions
- 2:29- in any number of things.
- 2:32- But
- 2:32- it's in those quiet moments
- 2:35- when we actually
- 2:38- calm ourselves down,
- 2:40- where we can hear
- 2:42- that still
- 2:43- soft voice.
- 2:47- I love how in Colossians three and fifteen,
- 2:49- it says, let the peace of Christ
- 2:52- rule in your hearts.
- 2:54- We are faced with any number of things
- 2:56- that can cause us to feel emotional turmoil.
- 3:01- But
- 3:02- the beautiful thing
- 3:04- about what we're going through, regardless of what
- 3:07- we're going through,
- 3:08- is that
- 3:09- despite the intensity of it all, spiritual discerning
- 3:13- isn't complicated.
- 3:15- But it does require some attention
- 3:18- on our part.
- 3:20- God has already given us the tools we
- 3:23- need to recognize
- 3:25- his direction.
- 3:28- He gives us his word
- 3:29- that provides truth. He he swears by his
- 3:32- truth.
- 3:33- That's how the the the heavens and the
- 3:35- earth were,
- 3:37- were formed. And I always jokingly say you
- 3:40- should never argue with the truth, AKA God,
- 3:43- because you won't win.
- 3:46- It's through prayer
- 3:48- because prayer is what develops intimacy.
- 3:53- I often say that
- 3:56- it's more important to God than it is
- 3:58- to us
- 4:01- how important the relationship is because he's always
- 4:04- got something to say about our relationship.
- 4:06- And his heart always aches to be with
- 4:09- us,
- 4:10- probably more so than we
- 4:13- ache and should pursue being with him.
- 4:17- And it's the peace
- 4:19- that surpasses
- 4:20- all understanding
- 4:21- in the midst of all of the chaos
- 4:23- and the turmoil
- 4:24- that acts as a spiritual indicator.
- 4:28- It's the wise counsel that provides confirmation.
- 4:33- You know? In the previous
- 4:36- episode, I talked about
- 4:38- how
- 4:39- we are
- 4:41- like sheep,
- 4:42- and the sheep know the shepherd's voice.
- 4:46- And I use the example that
- 4:49- in The Middle East, there are still shepherds,
- 4:51- and the shepherds
- 4:53- will sometimes,
- 4:54- come and they'll talk to each other. And
- 4:56- while they're talking, the sheep are intermingling with
- 4:59- each other. But when that shepherd
- 5:01- leaves,
- 5:02- he calls to the to to the sheep.
- 5:05- However, he calls to them and they follow
- 5:07- him.
- 5:08- And
- 5:09- it's that same kind of concept that God
- 5:12- uses in our everyday lives. It's the situations
- 5:15- on our jobs or with our families or,
- 5:19- a financial situation
- 5:21- that he uses
- 5:23- to to drive us to his word, to
- 5:27- test where we're weak at. And when we
- 5:31- when we're put up against that litmus test
- 5:34- and and fight it effectively
- 5:37- through prayer,
- 5:39- he gives us the peace.
- 5:40- He gives us the wisdom. He'll provide
- 5:43- the discernment that we need. And when these
- 5:47- align,
- 5:48- discernment becomes so much clearer,
- 5:51- and that's the end game.
- 5:54- God is more committed to guiding his children
- 5:57- than we are finding his direction.
- 6:00- It's as if to say, we, as sheep,
- 6:03- we do really go astray. We get distracted
- 6:06- easily,
- 6:07- but he never gives up on us. And
- 6:09- he's so committed
- 6:10- to us being
- 6:12- emotionally and spiritually
- 6:14- healthy and building our character that sometimes he
- 6:17- allows the hardships to come to drive us
- 6:20- to him.
- 6:22- And the challenge is often
- 6:24- learning to trust the guidance he has already
- 6:28- provided.
- 6:30- Discernment is less about finding hidden answers and
- 6:33- more about walking closely with the one who
- 6:35- leads. So
- 6:38- minimize the distractions and stay close to your
- 6:41- shepherd.
- 6:43- That being said,
- 6:44- let's pray.
- 6:46- Heavenly father,
- 6:48- help us to recognize the ways you are
- 6:51- already
- 6:52- guiding us.
- 6:53- Give us peace,
- 6:55- wisdom, and clarity
- 6:56- as we seek your direction.
- 6:59- And teach us to trust your leading
- 7:02- every single day in Jesus' name. Amen.
