Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Not every movie names of post
- 0:12credits Sam. Welcome to Watch A Least Scary
- 0:15Movie, The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the
- 0:18ugly and the absurd, and all of our favorite and least favorite
- 0:21scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:23movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:25Even if we don't always get. It my name is Travis.
- 0:27My name is Jesse. And today, sadly for now, we are
- 0:33closing out our coverage of the Scream franchise with 2020
- 0:37Three's Scream 6. Yeah, but at least we're gonna.
- 0:42We know that a 7th is coming eventually, so whenever that
- 0:45comes out, we'll cover it. Yeah, we'll get to it
- 0:48eventually, but yeah, so we're gonna go ahead and we're just
- 0:54gonna hop right into. Brought into the newest
- 0:57installment, it's kind of interesting having one that's so
- 1:00fresh for us. Yeah, I know, right?
- 1:03It feels. I know it came out this year,
- 1:05but it doesn't feel like it, you know?
- 1:07It feels like it's been forever ago.
- 1:08Yeah, no. When I was getting movies to
- 1:10compare it to like, I had a moment where I was like this is
- 1:14weird and I realized we haven't covered any 2023 movies so far.
- 1:17Are you sure? In 2023, Yeah, cuz.
- 1:19Terrified too. That was 2022.
- 1:22Holy shit, you're right. Wow, for some reason I thought
- 1:25we. Would know cuz I went through
- 1:26the same thought process. OK.
- 1:27Well, I I guess because we did so many 2022 movies before and
- 1:32the beginning of the year. Yeah, I thought like, oh, sure.
- 1:33Yeah, we've been like deep into 2023 content.
- 1:36That's cool. I'm glad that this is a first
- 1:39then. Yeah.
- 1:40All right. Yeah.
- 1:40We're kind of far enough into the year now that I guess we can
- 1:43start doing that. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:45It's, I don't know, halfway point.
- 1:47Kind of wild. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:49All right, cool. Well, do you have any
- 1:51announcements or anything? I do not, other than we'll have
- 1:56our Patreon bonus episode for budget level patrons out
- 2:00sometime probably this weekend, I think.
- 2:04Yeah, I think so too. And is what we'll try and do.
- 2:07We know it's going to be too. We're going to cover one of the
- 2:10Friday the 13th fan films. Never Hike Alone.
- 2:14I think that's what it's called. Don't ask me.
- 2:17Yeah, I mess it up every time. It's the one that is like the
- 2:20most well known, and from everything that I've heard, I've
- 2:23not seen it, but I've heard it seems pretty much like studio
- 2:26quality. It even has Tom Matthews
- 2:29reprising his role as Tommy, So that's pretty sweet.
- 2:32I'm excited about that. Yeah, so that'll be over on
- 2:36Patreon if you choose to donate at a budget level.
- 2:40Yeah. Okay so.
- 2:42If you know what, you need no budget or Patreon subscription
- 2:45to do what? Vote in our polls.
- 2:48That's true, which that just requires you to go to social
- 2:51media. So I've got our results too,
- 2:54Okay from last week's poll. So last week we talked about
- 2:58I'll Always know what you did last summer.
- 3:00Which the resounding feedback has been, huh?
- 3:06I didn't realize this movie existed.
- 3:08Yeah, so. That still blows me away, that
- 3:10people didn't know about that. But you know, I mean, sure like
- 3:13it. I guess that's a testament to
- 3:15how forgettable the movie itself is.
- 3:17I'm sorry for people who are like big fans of it, but it just
- 3:20seems like people don't know it exists.
- 3:23Well, you even forgot to do a tagline for it.
- 3:24That's how I forget the. Movie is Well, I feel like the
- 3:27movie itself also forgot to do a tagline for it because it just
- 3:31had those two that were. I feel uninspired.
- 3:35OK, well the poll for this is we wanted to know who moved the
- 3:39mattress. Who moved the fucking mattress?
- 3:42We never got resolution on that and I'm still furious.
- 3:45OK, so first the options. Yeah, the options are PJ Sheriff
- 3:49Davis, the fisherman or someone doing their job.
- 3:53Yeah, somebody's just doing their job because there's a town
- 3:55fair going on. See a mattress lying around?
- 3:58Yeah, you're going to clean that up.
- 3:59Yeah, somebody littered. Somebody just put their old
- 4:01discarded furniture here. That is not.
- 4:04Listen, they have a generous like public waste policy, They
- 4:09will pick up furniture on trash day as long as you have it at
- 4:12the curb. It's got to be at the curb.
- 4:15Maybe that's where it went to. That's where your.
- 4:16Tax dollars are going to people. So, OK, Twitter nobody thinks
- 4:20it's PJ, nobody thinks it's Sheriff Davis, 25% think it's
- 4:24the fishermen, and 75% just think it's somebody doing their
- 4:27job, OK? And Instagram, 17% think it's
- 4:31PJ, 17% think it's Sheriff Davis, 33% think it's the
- 4:36Fisherman, 33% think it's someone doing their job.
- 4:39I want the head cannons of the people that think it's PJ or
- 4:44Sheriff Davis. Well.
- 4:45I want to know what background they're writing for those
- 4:48characters. I'm not mad about it, to be
- 4:50clear, I am. Intrigued because.
- 4:53I'll provide one for PJ, OK? Because I just came up with one.
- 4:56I don't think that he would have wanted to just like, you know,
- 4:58jump off the building and just, you know, die I.
- 5:01Don't think he wanted to impale himself.
- 5:02On track? I don't think so, but I think he
- 5:06did want to come off with some stylish trick.
- 5:09I think he was planning on jumping off there and grinding
- 5:12on it, going full of Tony Hawk. Or he briefly covered the fact
- 5:19that he was forced to enlist in the Marines.
- 5:22His. Dad.
- 5:22Yeah, yeah. So maybe he was like, trying to
- 5:24get an honorable DC before he even, like, really got started.
- 5:28And maybe Sheriff moved it because he didn't want to join
- 5:31the Marines. So he's like, you know what?
- 5:33If you're not gonna join the Marines, you're gonna get
- 5:34impelled. Yeah, OK.
- 5:38I mean, it's somebody doing the damn job.
- 5:40Come on. Yeah, that's definitely what it
- 5:42is. Yeah, as much as I want to
- 5:44believe it's PJ trying to do a sick skateboarding trick, I know
- 5:47in my heart that somebody is just responsible there that day
- 5:50at the fair. Yeah, I just want like the
- 5:52deleted scene of like, somebody over there.
- 5:55Like moving equipment and feeling why?
- 5:56Why are these mattresses here? It's gonna be one of the most
- 5:59uneventful deleted scenes over essential to the plot, but so
- 6:05boring to watch. I can see why it would be
- 6:07deleted. OK.
- 6:09OK. That's it.
- 6:10That's their poll. All right.
- 6:11All right. Let's talk about Screamy.
- 6:12Let's talk about. Screamy.
- 6:14Yeah, I love how they still call The Scream, but it's like
- 6:18screamy, like they're stretching real hard with the titles this
- 6:22time. I don't know if you noticed in
- 6:24our document where I put like all of our like show
- 6:27descriptions. Yeah, every so often when it
- 6:31gets too full, I start a new one.
- 6:33I did notice I. Don't know if you noticed the
- 6:34name of the newest one. I forget what it was called.
- 6:37What was? It show V notes cuz we're on.
- 6:39That's. It for work, yeah?
- 6:41Or show V notes I guess will in case I have you for four.
- 6:45OK, so stream six. Wait on me, Jesse.
- 6:48OK, release date March 10th, 2023.
- 6:52We watched it on Paramount Plus, but it is also available for
- 6:56streaming as of July 22nd on YouTube Prime.
- 7:01Or Prime Premium. Or you can rent it through Red
- 7:03Box, Google Play or Voodoo. It is gonna be one of the more
- 7:06expensive rentals of a movie we've covered on the show
- 7:08because it is so new, but it's only $6 cheaper than a movie
- 7:12ticket. That's not too bad, yeah.
- 7:13Yeah, it's worth the price of admission.
- 7:15Or just get a free trial to Paramount, just if you really
- 7:19wanted to watch it. Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of
- 7:21good stuff on Paramount. You can catch up on Jackass.
- 7:24That's. Literally, we got a Paramount
- 7:26Plus subscription because we went and saw Jackass Forever in
- 7:29theaters and decided we wanted to watch more Jackass that
- 7:32night. And also Ink Master.
- 7:34And Ink Master. And then we were watching
- 7:37Survivor, and there's just a bunch of stuff on there.
- 7:40It's. Just stuff.
- 7:41It's just solid, Yeah. Written by James Vanderbilt and
- 7:44Guy. Music based on characters by
- 7:46Kevin Williamson. Directed by Matt Betanelli Open
- 7:51and Tyler Gillette of Ready of Silence.
- 7:53Music by Brian Tyler. This time they brought in Sven
- 7:58Falconer to help. Who's that?
- 8:01Just the other music person. Oh, OK.
- 8:03I didn't know if it was like a recognizable name or something.
- 8:06No, I'm just all of the the writing and direction of music
- 8:09team were all the same from last time with the addition of Sven
- 8:12and Falconer. I got you.
- 8:13OK, Just the way you said that I was like and spin.
- 8:15I was like, ooh who's spin sounds important.
- 8:20You're welcome, Spin. Special effects makeup.
- 8:24I'm assuming it's some sort of a group because there's like 10
- 8:26million names. Oh yeah, but we have Caroline
- 8:29Aquin, Matthew Binyon Dalton, Kutch, Adrian Morat, Kathy C,
- 8:37Mona C, and Vague Varthurian. Is it Kathy C, Mona C or Kathy C
- 8:44and then also Mona C as another person?
- 8:48They're those separate people. OK, Kathy C, Mona CII like that
- 8:51as a name. CC.
- 8:53Kathy C. Kathy.
- 8:56Ohh Boiler C We're off to a strong start on this one.
- 9:00Kathy TSC. OK, Mona TSC.
- 9:03OK, OK, I gotcha. I gotcha.
- 9:07I can't handle names. Today, I'm sorry I'm when doing
- 9:11the reading. You shouldn't even be having a
- 9:12problem today. It's already blowing my mind.
- 9:16Starring Melissa Barrera, Sam Carpenter, Jenna Ortegas, Tara
- 9:20Carpenter, Courtney Cox's GAIL Weathers, Jasmine Savoy Brown as
- 9:23Mindy Meeks, Martin Mason Gooding is Chad Meeks Martin.
- 9:26And I'm going to go ahead and stop us now because we talked
- 9:29about this off air last time. Travis didn't learn until after
- 9:33we recorded our episode on screen 2022 that.
- 9:37Mason Gooding is Cuba Gooding, Junior's son.
- 9:40Yeah, right. I.
- 9:41And I had fully expected you to ask about it on air, and you
- 9:44never did and I never brought it up, but yeah.
- 9:47I I just like, I don't know the Gooding name didn't.
- 9:50He doesn't even really look like him.
- 9:52Honestly. Like I feel like he probably
- 9:54favors more his mom's side of the family because we we covered
- 9:58prom ride. That's Cuba Gooding's brother
- 10:00was there. That's definitely, you know Cuba
- 10:03Gooding genes right there. But this guy right here?
- 10:06Not so much. Roger L Jackson is the Voice
- 10:10Dermot Mulroney is Detective Bailey, Jack Champion is Ethan
- 10:14Landry, Jack Champion. Leanna Liberto is Quinn Bailey.
- 10:18Josh Segarra is Danny Bracket, Hayden Panettiere as Kirkby Reed
- 10:23and Max Laferrier as Ghostface. Goddamn, there's a lot of people
- 10:27in this movie. I know.
- 10:28And I left that one I got. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:30And she's so she's like, she's there, but she's like not much
- 10:35of. It he has like 2 lines.
- 10:37Yeah, she has a cool death. Yeah.
- 10:39But like, other than that, what kind of impact does she have?
- 10:42You know, she doesn't really have much of an influence in the
- 10:44movie. She's barely even a love
- 10:46interest to Mindy. Like, you know what I mean?
- 10:48We see him cuddle on the couch. That's it.
- 10:51Like they don't even see him close other than that.
- 10:54OK, now it's time for our favorite game.
- 10:57Budget or. Budget.
- 11:02Definitely budget. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, super
- 11:04budget. I bet it's even more money than
- 11:06five. $35 million. OK, I can't remember what Fives
- 11:11was. I don't remember off the top of
- 11:13my head. Opening box office of 44 million
- 11:18Worldwide gross of 168,000,000 IMDb of 6.6 out of 10.
- 11:24OK, so Scream 6 gets 6.6. That's great.
- 11:27Good for them. I picked 3 movies that released
- 11:31this year, 2023 and my theme was movies that we all saw in the
- 11:35theater. OK, not we all saw, but like you
- 11:37and I. That we did, Yeah.
- 11:38Everybody listening. Yeah, we in.
- 11:40The theater. Cool.
- 11:42OK. Wow.
- 11:43OK, this is gonna be fun. First one evil dead rise.
- 11:47Ooh, yeah. OK.
- 11:49That released April 21st, 2023. Budget of $12 million and a
- 11:55worldwide growth of $146,000,000.
- 11:58Damn, 12 million. That's like, barely budget.
- 12:01Yeah, that one was gonna be straight to streaming for a
- 12:03while. I'm glad it went to theaters and
- 12:06I'm glad we went and saw it in theaters.
- 12:09I think I would have enjoyed it just as much if it went straight
- 12:11to streaming, but I'm glad that it did so well, because that
- 12:14means we'll likely get more Evil Dead.
- 12:18IMDb score also a 6.6 out of 10 Really.
- 12:23So I think we're seeing kind of what the people want this this
- 12:25year. Seems like it. 2nd movie
- 12:30Infinity Pool. Ohh wow.
- 12:33Yeah, yeah, yeah. That did come out this year.
- 12:35Yeah, sure did. Sure you did.
- 12:37One of the scars Guards and Mia Goff.
- 12:40That one is a little piss baby. That one.
- 12:45One. Of my favorite lines I've ever
- 12:47heard of it. Was it?
- 12:48Was it was fine. You know, like it didn't blow me
- 12:52away it everybody hyped it up as this like crazy fucking
- 12:56experience. And then I watched it and I was
- 12:57expecting it to go so over the top, but then it really didn't
- 13:00really. It didn't take full advantage of
- 13:03the concept, I don't think. All right.
- 13:05Plus me and God's character gets really fucking grating after
- 13:09like a little bit. Like, especially when she's on
- 13:11the hood of the car. I can't.
- 13:12I love it. I love it.
- 13:14All she's great. She's great as an actor, like,
- 13:16and she knows that right there. I'm sure that's what it was
- 13:18supposed to be, but God damn it. Like it was like getting to love
- 13:21all. Of it.
- 13:22OK, I'm happy for you. That could not find a budget
- 13:27listed. Really.
- 13:28Yeah. Wow.
- 13:29Yeah. You would think it would be
- 13:32somewhere, cuz that's David Cronenberg's son.
- 13:35Yeah, right. Cronenberg You would think he
- 13:37he's it's not his debut movie so.
- 13:41Yeah, still haven't seen the first one, Pisaster.
- 13:44I really wanna watch that one though.
- 13:46Infinity pool had a worldwide gross of 5,000,000.
- 13:50Only $5,000,000? I don't know.
- 13:52Holy shit, I thought it did way better than that.
- 13:55It currently has an IMDb rating of 6.1 out of ton.
- 13:58So they're all in the sixes. That's good.
- 14:01I think it's on its way to becoming a cult classic.
- 14:04I don't think you can call. Maybe that's only six months
- 14:05old. A cult classic.
- 14:06But too soon. But it's on its way.
- 14:08I think a six is right for that. And then finally M3 again.
- 14:14Hey M3 again. Yeah, that was released January
- 14:196th, 2023. That just tell you something.
- 14:22I generally can't call that movie.
- 14:24Megan Yeah. It's like in my hand I only read
- 14:28it as M3 again M. Three again, yeah.
- 14:30And whenever people say yeah, Megan, I'm like.
- 14:33Uh, oh. Oh, yeah.
- 14:34In three. Yeah.
- 14:35Yeah. OK.
- 14:36We had a cat named Megan, and so I like, physically can't call
- 14:40this movie Megan because then it becomes like a cat in a little
- 14:44Victorian doll dress in my head. I like that I do.
- 14:48Potential sequel? Um, that had a budget of 12
- 14:52million. So same as Evil did rise.
- 14:55Wow. OK.
- 14:56And it had a worldwide gross of 179,000,000.
- 14:59Mmhmm, I remember that. One fucking killed, yeah.
- 15:01Well, 'cause that one like. It was a little bit more
- 15:04accessible for like a wider audience.
- 15:08Yeah, definitely. It has a 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 15:13Damn. OK, wow.
- 15:14So another It seems like another solid year for horror.
- 15:18Yeah, I mean, we're not having like release, release, release,
- 15:21release, like in your face. But yeah, everything that's come
- 15:24out has been pretty solid. Yeah, it's like the worst movie.
- 15:27You see this year's Infinity pool like it's a really solid.
- 15:30Yeah. Although I'm sure I've seen the
- 15:32worst one so far. I can't remember though.
- 15:35You've blocked it out. And you're gonna hate them.
- 15:36Yeah, OK, only two taglines. No Boo.
- 15:42Only two. What's I know the one on the
- 15:47poster? New movie, New rules.
- 15:50Nope. New city, new rules.
- 15:53Nope. New York.
- 15:55New rules. Ah, fuck you, God damn it.
- 15:59New York. And you know what?
- 16:02That one's just stupid enough to work like New York.
- 16:05New Rules, baby. OK, sure.
- 16:07It's just saying it's unique New York, unique New York.
- 16:10Yeah, OK. In a city of 1,000,000, no one
- 16:15hears you scream. Well, they do.
- 16:19They just kind of ignore you. Yeah, they're like, that's not
- 16:22our business. Yeah, they're not gonna get.
- 16:24It's space, man. It's like, you know, they can
- 16:26hear it. They just don't give a shit.
- 16:28Yeah. OK, so Are you ready for some
- 16:32fun effects? I sure am.
- 16:34OK, so this is the first of the Scream franchise where there is
- 16:40no appearance by Neve Campbell. There was a pay dispute and I
- 16:45want to go ahead and just read the snippet.
- 16:47I'm sure most people have seen this quote posted around the
- 16:51Internet because it was kind of a big deal around the time that
- 16:53this was announced. As a woman, I've had to work
- 16:57extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially
- 17:00when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was
- 17:02presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to
- 17:05the franchise. It's been a very difficult
- 17:07decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love
- 17:10you. You've always been so incredibly
- 17:12supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and
- 17:15to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years, and I
- 17:20thought that this was kind of an important point to bring up
- 17:22because we are still. Witnessing the strikes going on,
- 17:27lots of strikes happening. We've got WGA, SAG, AFTRA, we've
- 17:30got UPS gearing up to do a strike, pay people what they're
- 17:36worth. That's, I mean they're they're
- 17:41the people doing the work, are the ones that are making a
- 17:44business or a franchise or whatever profitable.
- 17:47They deserve to be able to. Live without constantly
- 17:53struggling and like breaking their backs, trying to work
- 17:58overtime or pick up multiple jobs or anything like that.
- 18:00Like you shouldn't have to do that to survive.
- 18:03Yeah, definitely. And I 100% understand where
- 18:06she's coming from with this right here.
- 18:07Like, yeah, you need like, that's her franchise right
- 18:11there. Yeah, and especially.
- 18:13I mean, I'm, I'm going to speak to this as well.
- 18:15The the pay gap is a very real thing.
- 18:18I know people try to say that like it's not true and that oh,
- 18:23women typically work this kind of job versus the men working
- 18:26that I'm. I'm not going to go into how
- 18:29incorrect that analysis of the the wage gap is, but it is a
- 18:35very real thing. You know, there's a glass
- 18:38ceiling unfortunately for a reason, and I think it's really
- 18:42like. Her comment in regards to that
- 18:45hits home still and then in terms of just being valued for
- 18:51the work you do is also very relevant right now.
- 18:55Yeah, definitely. And I feel kind of bad because
- 18:59it's true that this movie doesn't need her.
- 19:02Like even though it's the 6th one and like you know, it's her
- 19:05franchise, like her character wise, though, it does make sense
- 19:08for her to just not be there. Yes, like story wise, I get it.
- 19:11But I'm always gonna be sad to not have her.
- 19:14I know. You know, it's like it always
- 19:16makes it better. It's like having Laurie Strode
- 19:18in a Halloween movie. Like, it's always good.
- 19:20I mean, and honestly, I hate to say this, I feel like we really
- 19:22didn't need GAIL either. We didn't, no.
- 19:25But like and she's like, she's. Barely a part of this.
- 19:30I feel like the last movie was like, here's a torch and like
- 19:35the new cast were like, alright cool, we're grabbing the torch
- 19:39and it's been passed. You know what though?
- 19:40I will say like, I think there was one good thing about having
- 19:43GAIL in here and they even acknowledge it in the movie.
- 19:46They never had an interaction like her and Ghost Face ever
- 19:49did. And they finally gave her that
- 19:50this sign. Yeah, but they didn't kill her.
- 19:52Yeah, but GAIL like. Fuck.
- 19:55What's her name? Courtney Cox.
- 19:57Courtney Cox? Why did I not remember?
- 19:58That I don't know. She said that she'll always do
- 20:01these movies, so she's always going to be there.
- 20:03She doesn't have to worry about the money quite as much because
- 20:06she's got that friend's money. Yeah, like she gets like
- 20:08millions of dollars a year for not doing anything.
- 20:11Well, and you know what? You know what?
- 20:13They had like their own little mini strike on set.
- 20:15The whole cast banded together to make sure that they were all
- 20:17played equally and they were gonna no and friends.
- 20:20Oh really? Yeah, cuz they were.
- 20:21Yeah, cuz they were gonna give certain.
- 20:24Actors more money than others. And they were like, no.
- 20:28And again, that is a good reason.
- 20:30What companies don't want you to discuss the pay that you're
- 20:33getting. If you guys all are on the same
- 20:35page, you can. If your company tells you that
- 20:38you're not allowed to discuss your pay, they are telling you
- 20:40something illegal, you're fully allowed to discuss your pay.
- 20:43I've seen it for a second. Yeah, you can.
- 20:47Well, good. That's cool.
- 20:49Okay, I think the good news about.
- 20:52Nev's decision is that she was well supported by her peers,
- 20:55like all of her castmates. Like they all like supported her
- 20:59decision and they agree that she's she's worth what she was
- 21:02asking for. I wonder how much she was asking
- 21:04and how much she was offered. I wish that was leaked.
- 21:07I don't know, but I also know that she said she wasn't very
- 21:09happy with the amount she got for Screen 5 and she just, she
- 21:14didn't feel good about it afterwards and she didn't want
- 21:16to do that again. I I totally understand it, yeah.
- 21:19So here's something a little. Suspect In a December 2022
- 21:25interview, Radio silence said that Nev's absence greatly
- 21:31affected the script. Really.
- 21:33However, in March 2023, they said there was very little
- 21:37changed in the script. OK, so a little bit of
- 21:42backtracking or inconsist. I don't know something since
- 21:45it's a little weird there. Do you think that they replaced
- 21:48her with another character? But like, who could have then?
- 21:52I don't know, because Kirby was announced like earlier, like.
- 21:56Yeah, like earlier on, like, I feel like they were laying the
- 21:59groundwork for that in five, you know, when they were like making
- 22:02sure that people are aware that she is alive.
- 22:05Well, and she's always been like a fan favorite.
- 22:07Yeah. So OK, this is the first entry
- 22:13in the franchise to earn over $100 million domestic since
- 22:18Scream 2. Seriously, I guess it's kind of
- 22:21fitting right? Cuz this is the new trilogy,
- 22:24Scream too. Yeah, HM yeah, just just another
- 22:28parallel. Yeah, Scream too.
- 22:30That's so weird. Yeah.
- 22:32Principal photography ran from June 9th, 2022 to late August.
- 22:38Love the specificity of that okay.
- 22:41So two months. So this I thought was
- 22:43interesting and I'm really excited for when we actually own
- 22:46this on physical media cuz as of.
- 22:50Recording this This is the only one we do not actually own yet,
- 22:55because it just released, right? Yeah.
- 22:57So we haven't had a chance to get it yet.
- 22:59I'm gonna be really excited for behind the scenes, the subway
- 23:02scene was actually all practical.
- 23:04There's no green screen at all. And they shot it like on a set,
- 23:08like they pulled like a. The subway car and everything to
- 23:11get like the movement for the tracking shots.
- 23:13Yeah, that's cool, you know? Yeah, I've heard of those sets
- 23:16being built like that. That's pretty cool, though.
- 23:19Yeah, interesting. Yeah, so I thought that was
- 23:20pretty fun. And it it's probably cheaper to
- 23:23actually build that set than to try and get into a New York
- 23:28subway station, get that cleared out for filming.
- 23:31There are, I have heard and I don't know if I guess is like
- 23:35just one city or like, you know, a couple of cities, but like
- 23:38they have trains and like subway rails, like railways for that
- 23:43purpose. Like it's not used for actual
- 23:45like commerce or like travel or commuting.
- 23:48I should say it's yeah, it's like just for filming things.
- 23:52I forget which podcast it was that I heard this on, but
- 23:55there's like this specific bridge that so many commercials
- 23:59and movies are shot at that like if you live near it.
- 24:03You pretty much have to know an alternate route because, like,
- 24:07it's a 5050 of if you were trying to drive that direction,
- 24:10you're not going to be able to go through because it's always
- 24:12shut down for filming. Let's go suck living in a town
- 24:15like Atlanta and LA where there's like a lot of filming,
- 24:17and like Canada too, I think like Toronto and places like
- 24:20that have that too. I wonder whether this was
- 24:22filmed. Do you have that information?
- 24:25No, I do not have that information.
- 24:27I'm gonna guess mostly LA. Maybe.
- 24:31It's on the fact that it's sets. I feel like, you know, well,
- 24:35yeah, I got hope that they have the actual outside in the city.
- 24:38They're in the city for a good portion of the movie, too.
- 24:42Yeah, I don't know. Let's see.
- 24:44So the items in the shrine are not actual props from previous
- 24:50movies. Kind of.
- 24:51That would be really cool if they could have pulled them out
- 24:53of the vault, but they're just recreations done by the art and
- 24:55costuming departments. By the way, sorry, this was
- 24:58filmed in Canada. Montreal.
- 25:00Yeah, yeah, I think that would have been cool.
- 25:03I mean, they could have done it, I'm sure.
- 25:05Unless, you know, the actors took props themselves and they
- 25:08couldn't get them back. Well, and sometimes, like movies
- 25:10will auction off their old props.
- 25:12Yeah, true. I mean, we see that all the
- 25:14time. Like Scare Fest, you see them in
- 25:16display cases, just yeah. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 25:20So there was actually some really fun viral marketing that
- 25:23happened with this. I think most notable is that
- 25:26Ghostfaces would pop up. Ghostfaces would pop up at
- 25:31random places. I don't know.
- 25:32When was it? A baseball game?
- 25:35A Ghostface? MM HM Wait, like people like
- 25:38wearing the mask? MM HM?
- 25:40Come on, they're. Masking the cloak.
- 25:41They're copying the fucking smile.
- 25:43Marketing. There was a game of like in like
- 25:47a baseball game. There was like actually multiple
- 25:49games where there was somebody standing behind the catcher just
- 25:52smiling the entire time. This is like up in the, like,
- 25:56Bleacher arena seating, OK. I mean it's still like.
- 26:01Audience Yeah, this is the audience too, you know.
- 26:03You get to see behind them too, at the baseball games.
- 26:06No, I'm saying the ghost faces were in the audience.
- 26:09Yeah. So where were these people?
- 26:10OK, but whatever anyway. That was one thing and it caught
- 26:15it prompted 911 calls. Some other viral marketing that
- 26:18they did was they did a website where you could get a
- 26:22personalized Ghostface call. Really.
- 26:25And they also did scream meals in pop up diners, and the meals
- 26:31featured props and reconstructed sets and then appearances by
- 26:36casting crew members. How the fuck do we not hear
- 26:38about any of this stuff? Kinda.
- 26:41Well, cuz we did our very best to avoid all forms of marketing
- 26:44with us. I guess that's true.
- 26:45Yeah, I guess that's one of the one of the downsides.
- 26:48Of avoiding advertising. Yeah, I seriously did.
- 26:51Like, anytime anything like with this movie came on, I plugged my
- 26:54ears and I just closed my eyes. I just did not listen or hear
- 26:58any or see anything. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:00OK, so that is all of the information I have and that
- 27:04means that we're ready to start discussing, hey?
- 27:07So Travis, OK. What's good about this movie?
- 27:13All right. I think that taking this movie
- 27:16to New York is what this franchise needed.
- 27:20I feel like they needed to shake things up and give you like, a
- 27:21different type of setting. We've had it in the city before
- 27:24we had LA, but they focus more on, like, the Hollywood aspect
- 27:27rather than it being, like a populated area.
- 27:30Yeah, the whole point of this right here is you're around so
- 27:33many people, so it gives you these interesting set pieces
- 27:36that haven't really happened before.
- 27:37Because usually the whole point is like, Ghostface is going to
- 27:40isolate you and then that's when he strikes.
- 27:42But here there's like so many scenes of him just doing it out
- 27:45on the streets in a fucking bodega.
- 27:47It's so cool. I feel like this movie is just
- 27:51like that right there. Lends it to a more fun
- 27:53experience for me. Like whenever he's in that store
- 27:57and just like taking the fucking shotgun to the whole place,
- 28:00like, I'm just like smiling the entire time because it's so much
- 28:03fun. Yeah, I think the acting is a
- 28:06whole lot better. I feel like the characters are a
- 28:08whole lot better. Melissa Barrera actually is,
- 28:11like, great in this movie. Yeah, and I know that she was
- 28:14one of people's biggest complaints from 5:00, but yeah,
- 28:18I could tell that she really improved upon herself.
- 28:22Again, I don't know if it was her or the script or the
- 28:25direction or whatever that happened in part 5, but we can
- 28:28see in this one that she. She's got the chops.
- 28:30I don't, yeah, I don't know what it was.
- 28:31But like, I mean, it's like we said in five, like, she can't
- 28:34really. She wasn't able to emote with
- 28:36her eyes or her, like, eyebrows. But like, watching it this time,
- 28:40I was paying attention to it and I saw her eyes and eyebrows,
- 28:43like, you know, reflecting her emotion actually, instead of it
- 28:47just being like, blank. So yeah, I mean, there's more to
- 28:51it, but those are the things that stick out the most to me
- 28:54about this one. I This is just it's a fun movie.
- 28:58It is. It's a fun movie.
- 29:00I know it's long. For a horror movie, it's about
- 29:03two hours. But The thing is, like when
- 29:06we're watching it in theaters, I just kept thinking, I do not
- 29:09want this to be over. See.
- 29:11Yeah, and like, this is a slack. People were giving terror fire
- 29:15to shit for being a slash. Or that's over 2 hours.
- 29:17So this one's over 2 hours. And I couldn't fucking tell
- 29:19that. Like whenever I learned that it
- 29:21was over 2 hours, I was shocked. Yeah.
- 29:23Terror fire, I think. I fully realized it was 2 hours
- 29:25until last night when we paused. Briefly and so on.
- 29:29Yeah. I think I remember whenever we
- 29:30were talking about this with Steve on the decision reel,
- 29:33that's whenever I realize. Yeah, you can check out our
- 29:36immediate thoughts after our first watch through of Scream
- 29:40Six over at The Decision Reel. This is actually our second
- 29:43watch. We had not watched it.
- 29:45Yeah, well cuz we knew it was coming.
- 29:46Yeah, we didn't wanna. We wanted to be able to react
- 29:50freshly to it again. Yeah, exactly.
- 29:52Recording. Because we don't get to do that
- 29:53very often with our franchises. Yeah, true.
- 29:56And also with Scream, like Scream 5I loved it whenever it
- 29:59came out and then whenever we talked about it, like upon
- 30:02second watch, I was a little bit less high on it.
- 30:05But this one right here, different.
- 30:06Like, you know, I was high on it and then I've I'm still high on
- 30:09it today. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:11This is when I'm very excited for rewatches.
- 30:14I yeah, I like the storytelling of it.
- 30:17I like. I I I just like a lot about it.
- 30:21I like that we talk about found family.
- 30:24I think that's an interesting piece of the trauma that the
- 30:27girls are going through, because Sam's situation with the fathers
- 30:34in her life was crucial to her character, and I like that we're
- 30:40exploring more of that dynamic. Yeah, definitely.
- 30:44And I'm I'm a very big believer in the importance of found
- 30:47family and that biology isn't necessarily everything.
- 30:52The be all, end all of who you should say belongs in your life.
- 30:56And I I love it when a movie like acknowledges that out loud.
- 31:02Yeah, I I love that. Also, like, I, I, there's a lot
- 31:06of really fun parallels between this and Scream, too.
- 31:09Yeah, right. I mean, like, it's basically
- 31:12another take on Scream two almost.
- 31:14You're moving them out of Woodsboro.
- 31:17It's like the father. The open and kill is in a very
- 31:20public place. Yeah, true.
- 31:22Yeah, the killer in the previous movie's parent is the killer in
- 31:26this movie. It's a revenge scream by a
- 31:29parent. I do like that.
- 31:34One of my favorite things. I wanna say that's another thing
- 31:37too. Is that the motive in this one?
- 31:39It is really good. I just love a good old fashioned
- 31:41revenge story and I think it just, it holds up really well.
- 31:44Yeah, I like the Tara is more of a part of this instead of, you
- 31:48know, Bed Bound. I feel like that's like a thing.
- 31:51Like I understand doing that in movies, like, you know, same
- 31:54thing with like Warry and Halloween 2 and all the others.
- 31:57But I feel like it always kind of like, hinders the characters
- 32:01when they're just like stuck like that.
- 32:02Injured. Yeah, the entire movie.
- 32:04Yeah, You know, like he or she's actually able to, like, be a
- 32:07part of the action the entire time.
- 32:08Yeah, and we get to have so much more fun with her as a
- 32:11character. And again, it's showing like the
- 32:14different ways of dealing with trauma because she is very much
- 32:16like ignoring it. Sam is trying to deal with it
- 32:20head on. Mindy is like, Yep, it happened.
- 32:23I'm scared, but I don't think it's gonna happen again.
- 32:25She thinks she's ignoring trauma.
- 32:27Tara Yeah. Yeah, you think she's ignoring
- 32:29it? Yes.
- 32:30I feel like she's just trying to like live her life.
- 32:33I don't think she's like, you know, pushing it like deep
- 32:35inside like, I don't know, I. No, she's ignoring it.
- 32:38You think so? She it is explicitly stated in
- 32:42the film that she is ignoring it.
- 32:44It just doesn't feel like it ever like.
- 32:45It just feels like she's like she's the one trying to go about
- 32:48a normal life, you know? Like, yeah, fucked up shit
- 32:50happened. But like the entire movie, she's
- 32:53kind of trying to have a normal life.
- 32:55Meanwhile, Sam is the one that is like the most heavily
- 32:58traumatized. That's what I mean by She's
- 33:01ignoring it. She's trying to act like none of
- 33:03that stuff ever happened to her and that it had no impact on
- 33:06her. And that is how you have, like,
- 33:07repressed memories and shit comes up later and you're like,
- 33:10huh, why do I have this particular response to the
- 33:12situation? I'm never gonna unpack that.
- 33:15Like, I'm just saying like, it's not visible and everybody
- 33:18handles trauma differently. So, like, you know, I think it's
- 33:21fair. Saying she is handling it
- 33:22differently by ignoring it. I'm I'm just trying to say like
- 33:25I feel like people handle it a little bit differently and I
- 33:28feel like it just because it's not explicitly like shown like I
- 33:32I feel like that's not necessarily saying that it's
- 33:36like that she is automatically suppressing it, you know what I
- 33:40mean? We literally open up with her
- 33:42going and getting drunk at a frat party and making bad
- 33:45decisions. So college.
- 33:48Yeah, but like, it's explicitly tied to her not wanting to deal
- 33:52with what happened to her if you say so.
- 33:55I don't have to say so. The movie says so.
- 33:58OK, whatever. I guess I'm wrong.
- 34:01I'm just saying, I'm not saying that it's not a thing that she's
- 34:04doing. She is just trying to live her
- 34:06life. But like if something like that
- 34:08happens to you, it's gonna like mess with your brain.
- 34:13Like that's how the brain works. You develop like.
- 34:16All of these different ideas of how the world works.
- 34:18And so your brain forms these connections and it's like, oh,
- 34:21this is the response that you should have to this type of
- 34:23thing. So by not addressing the trauma
- 34:25that she's going through, she's going to have like responses and
- 34:28reactions to different types of situations and she's not going
- 34:32to always know what it means. Your brain relies on like schema
- 34:37and context and it it's weird the things that will trigger
- 34:43things in you. So Travis was the dad.
- 34:49They I I don't really feel like the killers.
- 34:52I feel like the dad is fine, but I feel like the roommate Ethan
- 34:57and the other roommate Quinn. They feel like afterthoughts.
- 35:01I don't really feel like they are like, good killers, you know
- 35:05what I mean? Like, they're just not really
- 35:07build up enough to like, whenever the reveal happens, I'm
- 35:11like, OK, whatever. Like, I guess you had to have it
- 35:14be somebody. It's not like anybody important,
- 35:19which is kind of lame. I feel like it's nice to have
- 35:22these things like be impactful. But with this right here, it's
- 35:26just like these are three people that we have no history of in
- 35:30prior movies. They're introduced in this movie
- 35:32and they're the killers, so whatever.
- 35:34Yeah, it's always nice when it's actually somebody entwined in
- 35:38like the friend group that's actually like a part of them,
- 35:41rather than somebody that like just happened to be there and is
- 35:44like thrown away because of that.
- 35:45I think it would have been better for Ethan to be the one
- 35:49that was killed earlier because he doesn't seem like he actually
- 35:52cares about being part of the friend group.
- 35:53He only gets pulled in because he's Chad's roommate, whereas
- 35:56like. Quinn seems to have a connection
- 35:59with Sam and Tara. Like, we do get those moments
- 36:01with her early on, but she gets killed off, so we don't really
- 36:04get to see more of her. She gets killed off like, way
- 36:06too soon. Yes, yeah, I think.
- 36:08I think I would have swapped them.
- 36:10Yeah. I think you're right.
- 36:11Yeah. Yeah, I guess she had more
- 36:13potential. But still, like for me, I wanted
- 36:16like I would want this to be somebody closer.
- 36:20You know also, I don't know. Again, it's kind of like in
- 36:24Scream too, where it's just like, yeah, and they're probably
- 36:28the 2nd weakest batch of killers.
- 36:31You know what I mean? I don't feel like that's like
- 36:33saying anything good. Like, you know, it's just like
- 36:36Billy's mom and fucking Timothy Olyphant, who is kind of there
- 36:42but not really that important. He just kind of like, is another
- 36:45movie nerd, you know what I mean?
- 36:47Like, OK, cool, like, whatever. I also feel like the franchise
- 36:51they're they're grasping at straws to make like new rules
- 36:56that are relevant to the movies anymore at this point, like, OK,
- 36:59you're making it a franchise rules.
- 37:00I mean, it's still just like fucking slashers and sequels,
- 37:04Like it's all the same at this point.
- 37:06There was nothing new said. Yeah, it it was the same rules
- 37:09as in the requel basically. And it does, it feels like a bit
- 37:15that's forced in there cuz that's what people are used to.
- 37:18I wouldn't have been mad without that.
- 37:21Yeah, I don't feel like you need to come up with like a new set
- 37:23of them every single time. I just feel like if you were
- 37:25living by normal slasher movie rules and like they're
- 37:28acknowledged, that's enough. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:33I think it would have been interesting if like they had
- 37:34taken a true crime approach, since that's the hot thing right
- 37:38now, and GAIL even, like, makes a comment towards that at one
- 37:41point. I think that would have been a
- 37:42little bit more interesting, but that's what happened.
- 37:45Or even like fan films because we start off with like, the two.
- 37:51Film students are like, we're gonna finish this project like,
- 37:54yeah, I guess an. An expansion on what happened in
- 37:58part five. You know what I mean?
- 38:00You can take it that direction, but ultimately it's the same
- 38:02thing. You're gonna be playing by the
- 38:03same rules no matter what. It's a it's just a slasher at
- 38:06this point. Yeah.
- 38:07Once you get like, the three, cool.
- 38:08And I guess, I guess re cool is like, that one's fine that it's
- 38:13fresh, but like, other than that, it's just really not.
- 38:16Yeah, there's something to add. Anymore.
- 38:18And The thing is, in part four, they weren't.
- 38:21They just acknowledged that a decade had passed.
- 38:24So it was like, hey, here's you know how things have changed in
- 38:29movies since then. And then in part five, they kind
- 38:31of were even like, OK, well here's this new term.
- 38:33It's re cool and this is what it means.
- 38:35But then this one it's like. I mean, it was already a
- 38:39franchise. Yeah.
- 38:40It's been a franchise for like decades at this point.
- 38:43And also Four had like the remake rules, which that was
- 38:47different too, you know, because, I mean, they were
- 38:48basically doing the remake. Yeah, I just yeah, it's fine.
- 38:59So my thing that really upsets me is that I've been wanting to
- 39:02have three Ghostface for a while, and I'm very happy that
- 39:04we're going to go back to an even number of Ghostface in the
- 39:06franchise. Like, yeah, But if that's the
- 38:54weakest thing about this movie, I think that and The Killers, I
- 38:57think it's a solid. But it obsessed me that we never
- 39:09actually see Detective Bailey in a Ghostface mask and Cloak.
- 39:12I really wanted to see three of them on screen at one time.
- 39:16Doesn't he have at least the cloak on at one point or does he
- 39:19not? I can't.
- 39:20Remember, he does like, I'm counting him as a Ghostface
- 39:23because he's there, he's doing the killing, he's helping
- 39:25organize all of this, but like, we don't ever actually see him
- 39:28in the gear. We don't know if he did any of
- 39:30the kills or not. It's possible he did, but like.
- 39:35I don't know, I it was such a missed opportunity to see three
- 39:38of them on screen at a single time.
- 39:39Yeah. Although I will say the moment
- 39:41with the siblings simultaneously wiping off the knife.
- 39:46So it was pretty cool, you know, if there was any moment with him
- 39:50being the killer, I feel like it had to be whenever he attacked
- 39:53them in the apartment because he could then swap the body of
- 39:55Quinn there. I know he says, like he was
- 39:57first on the scene, but but I mean still I I feel like it
- 40:01makes way more sense for him to have swapped the bodies then.
- 40:04Yeah yeah, I mean I guess it's weird cuz like we never actually
- 40:08see him in a Ghostface suit, but I will call him a Ghostface.
- 40:12But I on the other hand, I won't refer to Jason as a Ghostface
- 40:15because I don't see him as a real Ghostface, even though he
- 40:18actually wears the costume and does a kill.
- 40:19He doesn't kill. Yeah, yeah, you know, that's we.
- 40:22So technically we have 4 Ghostface in this movie, Five if
- 40:26you count and Greg. Which he was helping playing
- 40:28one, but he never kills. He was already dead before the
- 40:30movie even started. So yeah, this We're getting into
- 40:34a weird numbers game. I like it, though.
- 40:36It's making it fresh. Yeah.
- 40:39All right. What is the ugly?
- 40:43Ugly. What is ugly?
- 40:45God, I don't know. I don't really know if there's
- 40:47really anything ugly about this movie.
- 40:49I hate that this movie made me think about the current sect of
- 40:53conspiracy folks. Oh yeah, which don't get me
- 40:58wrong, I think that some conspiracies are interesting and
- 41:01worth talking about. But I also think that some
- 41:04people do it in a way that they want to blame a certain type of
- 41:11person for a thing that makes no reasonable sense for that person
- 41:17to be responsible for. It's just they want to believe
- 41:19it. So then they just do all of like
- 41:23the mental gymnastics to make it seem like we, and I'm going to
- 41:27say this, and this is potentially a trigger warning
- 41:30depending on how much this issue upsets you.
- 41:36It is upsetting. But you know, some people can
- 41:38handle hearing things some people can't.
- 41:40The people that refer to school shootings and all of the folks
- 41:44involved in that as crisis actors pisses me off to no end.
- 41:49Because you're talking about actual people's lives, actual
- 41:53death, actual tragedy, and trying to pretend that it's some
- 41:57big government cover up to try and push the liberal agenda of
- 42:02gun control. It's not even like people.
- 42:03It's disgusting. I.
- 42:08It's fucking children. Exactly.
- 42:12It really upsets me and we kind of get like a micro dose of this
- 42:16with Sam here and she has just survived this whole big ordeal
- 42:23with her little sister and their group of friends, the Core 4, if
- 42:27you will, Core 4. And the Internet has twisted it
- 42:32to be that she is the bad guy, she orchestrated it, she is the
- 42:37villain. And stuff like that really does
- 42:40get out of control very quickly in today's age with our
- 42:45technology and everything available.
- 42:48And it's like when we've got true crime documentaries and
- 42:50everything like that and people will go online and be like,
- 42:53well, I don't know, I've got like my suspicions about this
- 42:56person, cuz they didn't act the exact right way that I think
- 43:00they should have. And yeah, like.
- 43:02Also in this movie shows how it can be weaponized because it's
- 43:05started as a rumor by Quinn in a way to like destroy her
- 43:09character. And it's like, because sometimes
- 43:12these theories are right, people think that it's okay to just say
- 43:15whatever they want, and they forget that the people behind
- 43:18these theories are actual real people and they are dealing with
- 43:21stuff. Yeah, it's also like the thing
- 43:23with Reddit where they did the Witch shine with the Boston
- 43:26bomber. They got that wrong.
- 43:27Yeah, like somebody fucking died because of that.
- 43:30Yeah, it's just fucked up. Yeah, and like, it's just, it's
- 43:35really upsetting because it's like an actual real thing.
- 43:39And this is the kind of meta commentary that I expect from
- 43:43Scream, but it's not fun. You.
- 43:45Know what This kind of brings me to like my story that I just
- 43:47realized, But I think it's like fucking weird how essential
- 43:51Reddit has become to scream like in both movies.
- 43:56It is the catalyst to like everything happening.
- 44:00Just fucking Reddit. Yeah, it's so weird.
- 44:04My absurd, I guess would be what's a good absurd?
- 44:09Oh, the fact that Danny lives in a tiny little apartment in New
- 44:14York City and has a 12 foot ladder.
- 44:19Yeah, I was wondering about that too.
- 44:21Like, what are you using that for it?
- 44:22Does it have something to do with your work?
- 44:25Like you, you were in a fucking Do you use that ladder to get up
- 44:28into your bedroom? Do you is that?
- 44:30Do you have a loft? Do you have a loft room?
- 44:32Is that how he goes and sneaks in the Sam's room where Sam
- 44:36sneaks in the his room? They just like throw the ladder
- 44:39to each other? Like, come on over.
- 44:44That's why. Like when he pulls it out, it's
- 44:45like a yeah, exactly. A little wink.
- 44:48No, not right now. I'm getting attacked, Danny.
- 44:51I am so not in the mood right now.
- 44:56Oh, that reminds me. We were talking about him.
- 44:58You said he reminded you of somebody.
- 45:00Yeah, he to me, he looks like a younger version of OB and saw
- 45:04two. The fellow that has to climb
- 45:06into the furnace for some of the antidotes.
- 45:10All right, well, we can maybe make this part of like a a
- 45:15secondary poll. Like who do you think he looks
- 45:17the most like? Because I'm gonna tell you he
- 45:19looks like enter in Ciarte, the guy that played for the Braves.
- 45:24Yeah, you said you were gonna show me a picture, cuz I don't
- 45:26know who you're talking about. He looks like him, doesn't he?
- 45:29He's a bit more like his facial structure is very different.
- 45:33It's very It's similar to me. I don't see it.
- 45:36I see it. I don't.
- 45:37Come on, dude. Same fucking brow eyes, but the
- 45:42rest of the face. I said that backwards right brow
- 45:45eye. I thought you meant like the
- 45:47brow, like the brow bone. And then the hair.
- 45:49And then you were also talking about the eyes.
- 45:51That's how I said that's how I meant it.
- 45:53But then I realized brow eyes. That's not what they're called.
- 45:56Brow eyes. Okay okay.
- 45:59So what is your rating? You know what?
- 46:02As crazy as it sounds, I think that this one.
- 46:08I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but man, it's so hard.
- 46:11Like, it's so close to one. For me.
- 46:12It's my second favorite. This one's my second favorite.
- 46:15It's so weird, but like, it's just like you said.
- 46:18It's so fun to watch. It's just so different and it's
- 46:22just action-packed and the set pieces are awesome.
- 46:24I love it. It's great so.
- 46:27I'm gonna give it 9.5. All right?
- 46:30I'm gonna give it a 9.75. Whoa.
- 46:32Yeah. I have a lot of fucking fun with
- 46:35this movie. So we're starting off with an
- 46:37average of 9.635. Nice.
- 46:39No. No, 9.625.
- 46:43No. OK, now, All right.
- 46:45Are you ready to talk about it? Yes.
- 46:46OK, so we start off at a restaurant called Aste El Fuego.
- 46:51Is that what it was called? Yeah, I caught it, like, very
- 46:54briefly. OK, that was one nice thing
- 46:56about watching it at home is having subtitles like.
- 46:59Yeah, true. Yeah, I think.
- 47:01I think maybe we need to normalize subtitles in movie
- 47:03theaters. I wish it was a thing.
- 47:05I wish it was too. So Samara Weaving is there.
- 47:09Yay. Also, we saw Barbie yesterday
- 47:11before going home and watching this and I was like 2 blonde
- 47:17actresses from down under in one day.
- 47:19That look remarkably similar. Yeah, she looks a lot like her.
- 47:22They look so much alike. And she was allowed to use her
- 47:25real accent. Yeah, that was so jarring for
- 47:28me. Like, I've only ever heard her
- 47:29in her English accent. Yeah, I also remember whenever
- 47:33it was announced that she was gonna be part of this and
- 47:35everybody was like, yeah, we're gonna get her in a screen movie.
- 47:38It's gonna be awesome. And then?
- 47:39The radio silence is like, yeah, she's only gonna be in the
- 47:43opening and she's gonna die immediately.
- 47:45She's this movie's famous person that we're.
- 47:48Gonna She can't, right? She is.
- 47:50She's definitely that. Yeah.
- 47:51She's like, I guess they know that.
- 47:52Well they had worked with her previously with thready or not.
- 47:55But I guess people know that she's kind of like, I guess
- 47:59she's. Would you call her Scream Queen?
- 48:00Yeah, yeah, she's. I'd call her scream Queen for
- 48:02sure. So she is waiting for a date.
- 48:06They had like, met online, like whatever.
- 48:08This maybe his version of Tinder or Bumble or whatever it is.
- 48:13Binder. Is that what it is?
- 48:14No, I'm just calling. Yeah, it's called something
- 48:16dumb, like flirter or something flirter.
- 48:18Yeah, Okay. Yeah.
- 48:20Anyway, she was like, waiting for her date.
- 48:22He picked this place, but he's like, this is embarrassing, but
- 48:25I'm lost. Can I call her real quick so
- 48:27she's like, I don't know where you are, but I'll try and help
- 48:31you. Yeah.
- 48:32And she's like, you can tell she's like, really nervous.
- 48:36Like, she's kind of adorably babbling, which I get because
- 48:39I'm a nervous babbler, too. Honestly, it's super cute.
- 48:43Like this stuff right here. Like as like if I were like the
- 48:46guy on the other end of the phone.
- 48:47Oh my God, this is amazing. I would date her based off of
- 48:50this conversation. She's like rolling her eye.
- 48:52She's talking about being a an associate film professor and she
- 48:56teaches like a slash request 20th century slashers.
- 48:58Yeah, she likes talking about how the tropes in the movie
- 49:02reflects society and culture at the time.
- 49:05Interesting. And she doesn't like Stab
- 49:11because the guy says what's your favorite screen?
- 49:15She goes, not that one. And then when they're talking
- 49:19about tropes like one of them is don't answer the phone.
- 49:22So they're like, I mean, if it wasn't the beginning of the
- 49:26movie anyway, we'd here we have a hint that he's not who he
- 49:30appears to be. Honestly though, for somebody
- 49:33who should be knowing all the rules here, she's really fucking
- 49:36dumb. Yeah, but she probably doesn't
- 49:39think she's in a horror movie like she.
- 49:42Thinks she's on a blind date. I don't care if you're thinking
- 49:44if you're in a goddamn ROM com, like if you're going down a dark
- 49:47alleyway. No.
- 49:48Yeah. I do not agree with the dark
- 49:49alleyway. Yeah, come on, man.
- 49:51And even then, dark alleyway. My motherfuckers.
- 49:54Well, I can see every inch of that alley.
- 49:57Yeah, like enter the dark alleyway.
- 49:59No thanks. You know what?
- 50:01But that dark alleyway has its own dark alleyway.
- 50:05This is like such a clean alleyway too.
- 50:07It is. This is not in New York.
- 50:09This is clearly Canada. That's how you know this is
- 50:11filmed in Canada. I like to imagine Canadians like
- 50:14hear that there's filming going on, There they go.
- 50:16That's a rough part of the city, yeah.
- 50:19Yeah, yeah. So the guy's pretending to be
- 50:22watched. So he's like, I'm in an
- 50:24alleyway. Do you see me waving?
- 50:25She's like, no, she's like well. There's somebody chasing me.
- 50:29Oh my God, he's got a knife. Oh my God.
- 50:30That's not even the worst part. The worst part is you believed
- 50:34that I was in an alleyway or something.
- 50:36No, the worst part is you're a film professor and you just came
- 50:40willingly into the alleyway. Yeah, cuz Roger Jackson takes
- 50:44over the phone. Yes.
- 50:46So smoothly, yes, and she doesn't.
- 50:50She is like she gets that reveal and she doesn't immediately
- 50:53hightail it out of there. She just stands there, staring
- 50:55into the darker alleyway within the alleyway, and she gets
- 50:59distracted by somebody screaming who?
- 51:01Also, another thing I love about this movie takes place during
- 51:03Halloween. Yeah, a scream set on Halloween
- 51:06is awesome. Yes, and I like that it adds to
- 51:08it because people are shits and are wearing ghost face masks.
- 51:12And screaming and just hooting and all, and it distracts her
- 51:16and they're all wrong turn fans. I wish we would have gotten a
- 51:18wrong turn Cosplay. Here it would have been nice.
- 51:21I mean, maybe there is. We're gonna have to like, slow
- 51:23down through that scene one time.
- 51:24Yeah, the the only bad thing about.
- 51:28Watching this on streaming is if you pause on Paramount, it gives
- 51:31you an add instead. So you can't just analyze the
- 51:34scene. Yeah, but yeah, so she gets
- 51:37stabbed and we don't get the knife wipe, which at first I was
- 51:42like, this is weird. And then we see a face.
- 51:47Yeah. And there was a part of me that
- 51:49was like, is this a false opening?
- 51:53But also it would be interesting to know who the Ghostface is
- 51:56right from the start. Like that's a different way to
- 51:58take this entry in the franchise.
- 52:01I was, I was willing to go with them on the journey.
- 52:04You know what I mean? No.
- 52:05I always want to, like, play the guessing game until we get to
- 52:09the end of the movie. I don't want to know who the
- 52:11killer is right away, although it would be interesting.
- 52:14Like, I guess with this right here is fine because, you know,
- 52:17you're getting a Ghostface who's also getting ghostfaced, yeah?
- 52:20But also, it's really fucking stupid for this guy to kill
- 52:23somebody in fucking New York City and immediately take his
- 52:26mask off in costume while standing above the corpse,
- 52:29right? But whatever he gets out of
- 52:31there undetected, nobody gives a shit.
- 52:33We've all seen Jason takes Manhattan.
- 52:36Like you can. Like Jason walks down the
- 52:37fucking subway line and through times squared, nobody bats an
- 52:40eye. Yep, they're just like, Yep,
- 52:41that's it's New York. Speaking of Jason Takes
- 52:44Manhattan, he goes home and it's on the TV.
- 52:47A nice little reference. I love that.
- 52:49That's a nice little wink to the audience.
- 52:51I'll love it too. Yeah, cuz like, you know,
- 52:53everybody's thinking it. And then there's all these other
- 52:55horror references in their house.
- 52:57Yeah. So on his way back there, he
- 52:59passes a group of people, including Tara.
- 53:01She's going to the OKB Halloween party.
- 53:05Are you going, Jason? I don't know.
- 53:07Is your sister going your problem to try and convince her?
- 53:12Yeah, I don't even feel like these guys are really like, are
- 53:15they friends? I feel like they're like, just
- 53:17acquaintances. Yeah.
- 53:18I feel like Sam is like friends with Tara's friends that she's
- 53:22met, but she's not got friends in New York.
- 53:25You know what? I.
- 53:25Mean. Yeah.
- 53:26Just a cute boy. Yeah, so when he's at his
- 53:30apartment, he gets a call from his roommate Greg, and he's
- 53:32like, listen, I know we said no kills yet, but I just wanted to
- 53:35get an idea of it. Which how do you think he knows
- 53:37already? Like, why is his immediate
- 53:40response that, like, did he text Greg?
- 53:42Like gonna do a kill :)? Maybe he was supposed to be the
- 53:46one to meet her at the restaurant, I don't know, but
- 53:50he's like shows her. Serves her right for giving me a
- 53:52CM minus on my Jalo paper. And in my head I was like, this
- 53:56dude probably saw Suspiria one time.
- 53:58It decided his whole like horror personas that he loves Jalos and
- 54:02later Mindy calls him an Argento fanboy.
- 54:05Yeah, the guy who's, like, obsessed with, like, weirdly
- 54:07obsessed with Argento. I.
- 54:09Was like, God damn it. So that hurt me cuz you know,
- 54:13like, whatever, I still got folchy.
- 54:15I mean, Jason probably wrote the paper and he's like, I strongly
- 54:18relate to these male characters in this Argento movie.
- 54:21And she's like, yeah, you're bad news, yeah.
- 54:26Yeah, it's also funny that like, he's he's talking about that and
- 54:30then like the Ghostface on the other side of the phone, he's
- 54:32asking about the kill. He's like, no dude, not over the
- 54:34phone. But then he's like, anyways, So
- 54:36like, I kept stabbing her and every stab was like, you know,
- 54:39less and less alive. I'm like, dude, like you're
- 54:41you're still on the phone. Come on.
- 54:43And I think it's interesting that like, and granted we know
- 54:47that the motive is revenge, but like, I do think it's
- 54:51interesting hearing Ghostface like treat these kills like cuz
- 54:54they are real people. You know what I mean?
- 54:57Like Ghostface acknowledging like, hey, I don't do this for
- 55:00sport. There's a reason behind what I'm
- 55:02doing and it involves real fucking people.
- 55:05Yeah, that's what, he says. Like, it wasn't just a person
- 55:07like that was a she was a professor.
- 55:09Like she was an actual person and I love that multiple times
- 55:12in this movie and I wonder if it's backlash to like the last
- 55:15movie. Like the whole point being that
- 55:17they wanted to make a new Stab film.
- 55:19Like if people were unhappy about it.
- 55:21We have multiple characters this movie say.
- 55:23Who gives a shit about movies? I know.
- 55:25I love it. Honestly, I feel like if that if
- 55:29it took that to make this movie, I feel like it was well earned
- 55:31because I love the approach that they have with this.
- 55:33Yeah. So yeah, Greg is dead in the
- 55:36fridge. And by the time Jason realizes
- 55:40that, it's too late for him and he said, are you just a piece of
- 55:43meat, Jason? Yeah, he just slashes him.
- 55:46Yeah, so fucking good. So Sam is at therapy, she's on
- 55:50new meds, and she is currently not seeing any hallucinations,
- 55:53but she's worried about Tara. And Doctor Stone was like, hey,
- 55:55we talked about your sister-in-law, but we don't talk
- 55:57about you. So I've got two things.
- 56:04Is this therapy session happening in his house?
- 56:07It appears to be an actual home because later on his files get
- 56:11stolen out of his house and I feel like there's a weird like,
- 56:15I get that building rentals are probably sky high, but like, it
- 56:19feels like an inappropriate boundary.
- 56:21Yeah, I don't really lack of boundary really.
- 56:24You know, I don't really know if it's like a if it's an issue
- 56:28within the, you know, therapy world.
- 56:31I mean, it's clearly an issue that his office is not locked.
- 56:33It does not matter that it is in his own home.
- 56:36It's still like the files still need to be behind, like an extra
- 56:39locked door. Yeah, they're very easily
- 56:41accessible. And then, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:43Because like, he could have a client over and like, they could
- 56:45wander there instead of to the bathroom and get to the files.
- 56:47That's that's a definite, like, that's a HIPAA issue.
- 56:51And then my other thing is we've established that it's like
- 56:55nighttime and there's a frat party going on.
- 56:57And you and I are familiar with the concept that shit starts at
- 57:00like 1011. Like what?
- 57:05What, like, is this? Is this the world's most
- 57:09accommodating therapist? Like, is he working around her
- 57:12schedule? Because I don't know what Sam's
- 57:14job is currently, but we know she was working on a bowling
- 57:17alley before. So it's not like she's got like,
- 57:20this hefty corporate resume to pay the bills with, you know
- 57:23what I mean? She.
- 57:23Doesn't appear to have a job at all.
- 57:25Honestly. Yeah, I've got.
- 57:28I just. I don't know.
- 57:29I do not know. Maybe the dad is like guilt
- 57:32sending Tara money and Tara's like, OK, cool.
- 57:37I'm gonna have Sam live with me, whether or not you like it.
- 57:39Maybe she's like making money off of like, TV appearances, you
- 57:42know what I mean? Like maybe she's getting fucking
- 57:44royalties from Gil's stories. Yeah, I I have no clue.
- 57:47I have. Doubted no clue to take all that
- 57:49stuff. Yeah, I do that.
- 57:51I think it's also like, hilarious that the therapist is
- 57:54like, yeah, tell me about hers, tell me about yourself.
- 57:57And she opens up, like, hard about herself.
- 57:59She feels almost suspicious how much she's pushing for details.
- 58:04Like to the point where I'm like, are you gonna sell this
- 58:06information? And then she's like, OK, cool.
- 58:10So my father's a serial killer. My ex boyfriend's a serial
- 58:13killer. He tried to kill me.
- 58:14And then I stabbed him 22 times, slid his throat and shot him in
- 58:17the head. And it felt good.
- 58:20And the therapist says I have to report that, to which I say no
- 58:25you don't because that's not her.
- 58:28Expressing an intent to harm is saying that in the time the
- 58:32self-defense, the killing, it felt good to her.
- 58:35She's not saying like oh I am actively planning to go do this.
- 58:40You wouldn't put somebody on a 72 hour hold if they were like
- 58:4310 years ago. I was experiencing suicidal
- 58:45ideation. Like that's not.
- 58:47Yeah, I feel like it is. I feel like it's trying for
- 58:50those people that want her and like the movies, the movie, the
- 58:54entire time is playing like a little game.
- 58:56Like will she or what? Would she be a killer?
- 58:59Well, and that's why even when he reports that nothing happens,
- 59:02because she didn't fucking do anything.
- 59:04Yeah, I know. She didn't express any intent to
- 59:07hurt anybody. She didn't express any homicidal
- 59:10ideation. She was just like, hey.
- 59:13Mmhmm. I I It felt good to defend
- 59:15myself. Yeah, it's totally, like
- 59:18reasonable. But the movie wants you to
- 59:20believe that she might be the killer because the rest of the
- 59:23movie she's you can see she's having these thoughts, she's
- 59:26having these, you know, desires to take on Billy's like
- 59:32Ghostface persona a couple of times.
- 59:34Like Billy's voice is having a pretty heavy influence on her.
- 59:39I'm just saying like there and people want it and I think that
- 59:41they wanted to like toy with that a little bit in this movie.
- 59:45That's all that is doing there. She calls Tara and it goes
- 59:50straight to voicemail and she's pissed because she's like, you
- 59:52know, you're supposed to answer the phone.
- 59:54She gets to her apartment and there are 5 billion locks on the
- 59:58door. She doesn't hear any answer when
- 1:00:00she calls out, but she does hear some thumps, which I
- 1:00:03accidentally wrote in my note as thumbs.
- 1:00:05Thumbs. She hears thumbs.
- 1:00:08It's Quinn sexing very loudly with, not Paul.
- 1:00:13With Tim Robinson. Tim Robinson say cuz Sam goes is
- 1:00:19that Paul? And we just hear who the fuck is
- 1:00:21Paul? Yeah, So we never see him, but
- 1:00:24it's been confirmed that it's Tim Robinson.
- 1:00:26The voices love that. Yeah.
- 1:00:29And I kind of like Quinn. It would have been interesting
- 1:00:34to see more of her before she's revealed as a before she's
- 1:00:37murdered and then later on pop up surprise killer.
- 1:00:40You know what I mean? She's She brings an interesting
- 1:00:42dynamic to it. She could have been interesting.
- 1:00:45She just never had the chance. Yeah, and this is where she
- 1:00:49tells her. She's like, don't be mad, but
- 1:00:50Tara went to a party. We cut to the party.
- 1:00:54We do see somebody dressed as Ghostface, But gay Ghostface, We
- 1:00:59got Pride, Ghostface is. It like Rampo, yeah.
- 1:01:02So bad taste? Definitely.
- 1:01:05Come on, it's really bad and I'm surprised none of the, like,
- 1:01:08Woodsboro folks are saying anything.
- 1:01:10About I know, right? Like, I feel like they would at
- 1:01:12least approach him. Hey, come on, like we have the
- 1:01:14Survivor actually at this party. Maybe take that off, although it
- 1:01:17does seem like they're kind of trying to lay low.
- 1:01:19So at one point, somebody asked Tariff like, oh, hey, aren't you
- 1:01:22that girl that was involved in those murders?
- 1:01:23And she was like, Nope, I'm from Michigan.
- 1:01:26Yeah. So, yeah, we just kind of this
- 1:01:29is where we're getting an introduction to everybody.
- 1:01:31Mindy says that she figures it's like being struck by lightning
- 1:01:34twice, which has happened to people.
- 1:01:36So maybe do your research before you make that kind of an
- 1:01:39analogy. Yes.
- 1:01:41And Annika? Annika Okay I need you guys to
- 1:01:46understand we are not making fun of the character Annika.
- 1:01:48It is probably the best episode of House Hunters in HGTV history
- 1:01:53where this woman moved out to California post divorce, forced
- 1:01:57her childhood best friend to move with her, and bullied the
- 1:02:00absolute fuck out of her throughout the whole episode.
- 1:02:03And the woman's name was Annika, the one being bullied.
- 1:02:05Yeah, we hope she that she has a happy ending.
- 1:02:08She kept getting houses where it's like, this will be your
- 1:02:11bathroom. You'll have to share it with
- 1:02:12everybody. Yeah, she's like, she's like,
- 1:02:15cool, you have a bathroom in your room in this one, but
- 1:02:17there's no door. And she's like, well, I want a
- 1:02:20door. And she goes, Annika, it's my
- 1:02:23house. You're just also living here,
- 1:02:25but it's my house. And paying for half of it too.
- 1:02:28But yeah, it's mine. Yeah.
- 1:02:30Annika, I know you dyed your hair blonde and it clearly
- 1:02:34damaged the shit out of it because you were not.
- 1:02:36You were very naturally dark haired and now it's fried.
- 1:02:40And you. It doesn't suit your skin tone
- 1:02:42well at all. But we match.
- 1:02:43We match Annika. Message us if you want the
- 1:02:46episode number. We've got it saved.
- 1:02:47Oh my God, it's. It's truly a feat of reality TV.
- 1:02:52They love it. So Tara is there with date Rape
- 1:02:57Frankie who is trying to get his date rape on not even in a
- 1:03:01fucking costume. No, he's not.
- 1:03:03Maybe, like costume is douchebag.
- 1:03:04Yeah, like the date rape is bad. Yeah, it is bad.
- 1:03:07But it like it's like an insult to injury.
- 1:03:10I didn't know if that was Chad calling him Date Rape Frankie or
- 1:03:13if that's his reputation. Like as Date Rape Frankie, Chad
- 1:03:17is also a freshman. I'm just gonna to say that's his
- 1:03:19reputation. Yeah, I mean, man, what a
- 1:03:22reputation to have. Come on, he doesn't seem
- 1:03:25bothered. By it, Are you going to weddings
- 1:03:26after you graduate later on? Hey, date rape.
- 1:03:33Meanwhile, Chad. Sweet little Chad.
- 1:03:35He's trying to. He's trying to hype up Ethan.
- 1:03:38They're in the corner like. He's jumping up and down.
- 1:03:41Ethan's dressed in murder party because he's a fucking nerd.
- 1:03:44Deep, deep, deep cut costume right there.
- 1:03:47The real ones will respect it. I love it.
- 1:03:50Yeah, he's trying to get him a date and the ladies aren't
- 1:03:53interested. You know, to be fair, the the
- 1:03:56costume's not very appealing. Like, it's not attractive.
- 1:03:59But I mean, come on, like, if you find one somebody that if he
- 1:04:02wasn't, if he wasn't a murderer, he would have definitely peaked
- 1:04:08after college. He would have found his people
- 1:04:09eventually. Yeah, you know, Yeah, like us.
- 1:04:13Oh my God, I didn't think about this.
- 1:04:14But that's probably like Richie's influence.
- 1:04:16Like he probably watched that movie with Richie.
- 1:04:19Shit. You know what?
- 1:04:20I bet you're right. Wait, so going way down the
- 1:04:25line, is he actually one of the family members?
- 1:04:27Is he ever OK? That's why.
- 1:04:29Yes, he is Dad's least favorite. Yeah, OK.
- 1:04:33It's very clear he does the murder simply to try and earn
- 1:04:37his father's love. And it doesn't work because he
- 1:04:40was like Evan. Oh, what?
- 1:04:42Whatever. Close it up.
- 1:04:43Can you imagine that? Like he has to hear all this
- 1:04:45talk the entire time? Like the dad and Quinn the
- 1:04:48entire time. Like, yeah, my brother's dead.
- 1:04:50Like, I just, you know, I don't have her brother anymore.
- 1:04:52And he's like it's. Starting to hurt his son.
- 1:04:55Yeah, I feel like like deep down, he's like, God, this is
- 1:04:57kind of hurting like a lot. No, a lot of people like a still
- 1:05:02of where, like Dermot Mulroney is like there's a special bond
- 1:05:06between a father and his only son.
- 1:05:08And in the background like it's like on The Simpsons, like you
- 1:05:11can see the exact moment. Yeah.
- 1:05:14It's fucking brutal, dude. Yeah, OK, so the Chad notices.
- 1:05:21Well, any good notices? First, that Tara's being taken
- 1:05:24upstairs by the Ray Frankie and she tries to stop, but it kind
- 1:05:29of. It doesn't work.
- 1:05:29So Chad has to step in and gets it into like a little shoving
- 1:05:32match and then Tara steps in and tases him in the balls.
- 1:05:36Sam. Sam.
- 1:05:37Yeah, yeah. She comes into the party and
- 1:05:38she's like, hey, you needing my sister alone, I'm gonna tase you
- 1:05:41in the balls now. And she's all very matter of
- 1:05:42fact. And I'm like, boom, love this
- 1:05:45version of Sam. This is how I knew I was gonna
- 1:05:47be 100% on board with Sam this movie.
- 1:05:49Yeah, it was great. I like that, she warned him in
- 1:05:51advance. Yep.
- 1:05:53And of course everybody is filming by this point.
- 1:05:55So they all leave and Tara is screaming at Sam about how,
- 1:05:59like, she's being way too overprotective and she just
- 1:06:02wants to live her life. And Sam's like you need to go to
- 1:06:05at least a therapy session, so that way like you don't, you
- 1:06:10know, develop really bad coping skills.
- 1:06:13Regardless of trauma or not, she is being very helicopter parent.
- 1:06:18Yeah, no, she definitely is. And I I see both sides of this,
- 1:06:22yeah. Especially like, you know,
- 1:06:24terrorists. And that's another thing Tara
- 1:06:26hasn't dealt with is the abandonment issue she's
- 1:06:29experiencing from both her dad and honestly, Sam.
- 1:06:32Like, because she does bring that up.
- 1:06:33Like she's like you left my life for five years and now you come
- 1:06:37back and you won't leave me alone.
- 1:06:38For 5 minutes now you moved to New York City to be with me too.
- 1:06:41Yeah, and some rando off the street, like comes up, throws
- 1:06:47her Diet Cherry Pepsi, which I feel like is not even a thing
- 1:06:51anymore. Are you?
- 1:06:52Did you actually know that that's what that was?
- 1:06:55Danny says it later. OK.
- 1:06:57Yeah. OK, they have a whole flirty
- 1:06:59moment about it. No.
- 1:07:00OK. Did he taste it?
- 1:07:03He smelled it. Yeah.
- 1:07:05Yeah, exactly. Hint of cherry?
- 1:07:09Yeah, and like, it's calling her a murderer.
- 1:07:11And Sam's like, step bitch, like she's ready to fight and they
- 1:07:16all basically have to drag her away.
- 1:07:18Yeah, I like that. We still acknowledge tyranny as
- 1:07:21an inhaler. It's much less of a plot point.
- 1:07:24But they're like we can't abandon it completely because
- 1:07:26she was 110% dependent on it before.
- 1:07:29It's just always like a random shot of her doing it, and I feel
- 1:07:31like at the end of filming, like, God damn it, we forgot to
- 1:07:34get the inhaler. Like it's It's got to be.
- 1:07:35Be important some wise. So let's just get some pickup
- 1:07:37shots like, I don't know, Jenna, go over there and just use it.
- 1:07:41Yeah, we'll get it. We'll work it into the movie,
- 1:07:44yeah. Quinn comes in and gives her
- 1:07:47like a little pep talk about how you know her dad became super
- 1:07:51protective after her brother died and even became a detective
- 1:07:55in the NYPD and. Also moved to the city with her.
- 1:08:00Interesting that that won't come in at all.
- 1:08:04Chad comes in to talk to her and you know, she's like, thank you
- 1:08:07for stopping me. Like, I didn't really want to do
- 1:08:10that. I didn't realize how drunk I
- 1:08:12was. And she goes, But I'm not drunk
- 1:08:14now. Yeah, well Quinn comes in and
- 1:08:18cock blocks them as and then says cock block a million times.
- 1:08:22And I love Chad's delivery of like, stop saying cock.
- 1:08:28Yeah, it makes him uncomfortable enough to just leave.
- 1:08:30Like she like, I feel like she was intentionally trying to do
- 1:08:33that for sure because like just leave.
- 1:08:36Like, you know, she could have left.
- 1:08:37Everything would have played out fine.
- 1:08:38But she's like, Oh my God, did I cock block you?
- 1:08:39I cock blocked you. Am I cock blocking you?
- 1:08:41Oh my God, I'm cock. I'm cock blocking you.
- 1:08:43I can't even fucking say that many times.
- 1:08:44She was hoping for a little group action.
- 1:08:47Oh, maybe, yeah. She's like, whoa, yeah, I mean,
- 1:08:50I'm here. Maybe Tim Robinson could be part
- 1:08:52of like a foursome, you know, that's full on orgy status at
- 1:08:56that point. OK, so Sam is in the lobby and
- 1:09:00we see cute guy who we'd have a we'd had a previous shot of like
- 1:09:04her. She could see into his
- 1:09:06apartment. Yeah.
- 1:09:07He loves to just iron his shirts in the window there.
- 1:09:11He likes to iron his tshirts and then immediately put them on.
- 1:09:15And I've got so many problems with that, but we do not have
- 1:09:17enough time in this podcast to address it.
- 1:09:19I feel like it's at least similar to getting a shirt out
- 1:09:22of the dryer. You know, that warm feeling.
- 1:09:27Whatever. It's weird.
- 1:09:28He, you know, he we don't need justification.
- 1:09:30It's just he's a fucking T-shirt who irons AT shirt.
- 1:09:33He probably also irons his jeans and his socks.
- 1:09:36Maybe he. He may.
- 1:09:38Regardless, I want more Danny in the next movie.
- 1:09:41Yeah, well, they. OK, So they get a like, a new
- 1:09:45story going on talking about Jason and Greg's death.
- 1:09:49Yeah. And this is when Mindy's like,
- 1:09:51Ohh, yeah, that's the guy that's obsessed with Argento.
- 1:09:53I love that. Like, we had this whole moment
- 1:09:56about this being a secret relationship, and Danny drops a
- 1:10:01lot of knowledge. Like, we we understand that it's
- 1:10:03not like a recent secret relationship.
- 1:10:06Like, he's like, yeah, I get it, You still don't want to tell
- 1:10:08your sister after everything you guys went through.
- 1:10:09Like, he says it in a very matter of fact way.
- 1:10:12Like, he's been patient about it and he's not going to push her.
- 1:10:15But he would also like to be public because he's into her.
- 1:10:17Yeah. And I like it.
- 1:10:18It felt real. And then they call Sam upstairs
- 1:10:22because of the news story about the murders.
- 1:10:24And Danny just comes with and it's like everybody's like, oh,
- 1:10:27OK, hi, cute guy. And he's like, I'm cute guy.
- 1:10:30Thank you, my God. And then Quinn calls her dad to
- 1:10:36see if he has got any more details, because Sam immediately
- 1:10:39is like, all right, pack your stuff.
- 1:10:41We'll leave tonight. And Tara's like, Nope, Nope,
- 1:10:44Nope, Not doing this. And so when Queen calls, we find
- 1:10:49out that Sam's ID is actually at the scene, so she's gotta come
- 1:10:52down to the station anyway. So this sparks one of my
- 1:10:55favorite, actually my favorite part of the movie.
- 1:10:58So her and Sam are going like walking down the street, I guess
- 1:11:02to go talk to the cops or whatever, and she gets a phone
- 1:11:05call from Richie, which he's dead, shouldn't be calling right
- 1:11:09now. But she answers, even though
- 1:11:11Tara doesn't want her to. Yeah, she's like, clearly this
- 1:11:13is bad news. And Sam's like, well, I never
- 1:11:15deleted his information, so maybe somebody else has the
- 1:11:18number now. Nope, it's go face.
- 1:11:20Yep, Go face, go face, go face. And he actually comes out and
- 1:11:24attacks right there on the street.
- 1:11:26So they go running into the bodega.
- 1:11:29And you know, you think, like, OK, I'm going into a store.
- 1:11:31They're not gonna get me like with all these people here.
- 1:11:33So first of all, people are really mad cuz they burst in
- 1:11:36screaming call 911 and this guy with like a six bag is like hey,
- 1:11:40I've been in line. Yeah, come on.
- 1:11:43Fuck in New York. Yeah.
- 1:11:46And it's also Halloween. So I guess, like, seeing
- 1:11:47somebody in a mask isn't super unusual right now.
- 1:11:50But what is unusual is when that person in a mask walks up to you
- 1:11:54and kills you. I mean, in New York, it still
- 1:11:56might not be that. OK.
- 1:11:58It might not be, yeah it might be normal still, but he does do
- 1:12:02that. He kills like 5 people there in
- 1:12:05the store. Or the shop owner takes the
- 1:12:09shotgun and is blasting at him, but he manages to avoid and
- 1:12:13slash him and take the shotgun and do A1 handed.
- 1:12:17Shotgun blast to him. It was so fucking cool.
- 1:12:20It's unrealistic, but God damn if it's not like whoo.
- 1:12:24See that? I mean, that's cool.
- 1:12:25And I feel like that's what this movie is doing.
- 1:12:27They prioritize having like fun, cool moments like that.
- 1:12:30And it's just fun to watch. Like whenever I saw that, I got
- 1:12:32so fucking hyped. Kind of like at the end.
- 1:12:35I understand Chad shouldn't have survived all of the stabs, but
- 1:12:39am I glad to have my current favorite hymbo available to
- 1:12:43return for the next movie? Absolutely, man.
- 1:12:46I'll write it off with whatever bullshit.
- 1:12:48What makes him a Himbo? Is it just because he's an
- 1:12:51attractive man? Like, isn't a Himbo supposed to
- 1:12:53be somebody who's like, sexually promiscuous with he's an
- 1:12:56attractive man. I wouldn't say that.
- 1:12:58Like he's super slutty, but he acts like he's slutty and he.
- 1:13:02Was the one that didn't want to have sex in the last movie.
- 1:13:04He's a little ditzy. I'm not saying he's stupid, but
- 1:13:08he's ditsy. He's ditsy.
- 1:13:10Yeah, I just left that bimbo part like bimbo.
- 1:13:13I always thought, well, himbo is like same thing as a bimbo.
- 1:13:16Like I always thought, I was like tied to, like promiscuity.
- 1:13:19Also, I think it's tied more to the illusion of promiscuity.
- 1:13:25I just think of him as like the lovable doof, you know?
- 1:13:28Yeah, Doofy. He's a little.
- 1:13:30Let's call him Doofy and he'll get stabbed about 20 times.
- 1:13:35So yeah, no, I like in info is absolutely a term of endearment
- 1:13:39with me, so. I know, I know.
- 1:13:40It's like nothing bad. I was just curious about, like,
- 1:13:43what made you think that he was like that?
- 1:13:45Yeah, okay. So Sam, again proving that she's
- 1:13:50earned her final girl status, like, throws a can to distract
- 1:13:54Ghostface just long enough for them to be able to escape being
- 1:13:58killed. And right as we're like, no, are
- 1:14:02they gonna get out, Are they not?
- 1:14:03Because at this point it's just Sam and Tara and Ghostface.
- 1:14:06The cops roll up and Ghostface has escaped through the back.
- 1:14:10Yeah, I mean, they pushed the fucking shelf.
- 1:14:14Shelf on, yeah. And left the mask behind.
- 1:14:18I thought that the person just took off all the mask and stuff
- 1:14:21to just get out of there and be a normal.
- 1:14:24Person coming in blood. Yeah, surely.
- 1:14:26I mean, New York, maybe not that unusual, but rich, naked person
- 1:14:31covered in blood? Yeah.
- 1:14:32Do you know how many reports we've had today?
- 1:14:34Yeah, and it's Halloween. But no, it's actually the mask
- 1:14:40from the last movie. It's Richie's mask.
- 1:14:43Yeah. And Detective Bailey is like,
- 1:14:46no, this is the mask from the apartment was Richie's mask.
- 1:14:50Right. And which is Bailey is like,
- 1:14:53does the name Richie Kirsh sound?
- 1:14:56Am I saying that right? Kirsh.
- 1:14:58Kirsh. Right, Chai, right.
- 1:15:02Is that it's just so foreign. I've never seen this name
- 1:15:05before. Wait, he's.
- 1:15:06Telling me. Does this sound familiar?
- 1:15:09Yeah, and the one at the scene belonged to both Jill and
- 1:15:15Charlie, which is confusing to me because I feel like the other
- 1:15:17movies, they get separate masks. Jill and Charlie each had a
- 1:15:21mask. I don't.
- 1:15:23The countdown is inconsistent and it bothers me.
- 1:15:25Yeah, like, so they're doing like one mask per movie, right?
- 1:15:29Yeah. Like, yeah, it feels like it
- 1:15:30should be two. Yeah, they're saying one mask
- 1:15:32per movie is what's happening, but they're saying there's nine
- 1:15:34killers that they gotta countdown.
- 1:15:35And I'm like this math ain't math.
- 1:15:36And yeah, it's not making any sense.
- 1:15:39So another detective person is the FBI is claiming
- 1:15:44jurisdiction, it's derving. She's currently specializing in
- 1:15:49Ghostface attacks. And she had actually already
- 1:15:54been looking into Jason and Greg because they're from Atlanta and
- 1:15:58she's based in the Atlanta office and she's like, I don't
- 1:16:01want to take this from you. I'm open to working together
- 1:16:04essentially. That's FBI lingo for cooperate
- 1:16:07or I will take this away from you.
- 1:16:09To mention the motive and the opening with those two is they
- 1:16:12wanted to finish Richie's movie. So they were Richie's friends.
- 1:16:15Yeah. And the real ghost face told Sam
- 1:16:18on the phone that they were planning to kill her, But he
- 1:16:21didn't let that happen because he wanted to make sure that she
- 1:16:24suffers. Yeah, yeah, so.
- 1:16:27And I love that Kirby came back. I like that.
- 1:16:29This feels like a natural way to bring her back into the next.
- 1:16:33You know what I mean? And I like, I like that
- 1:16:35progression for her character, too.
- 1:16:37I like, like this is a better version of Sally Hardesty, yeah.
- 1:16:41Yeah, definitely. Even like, reference her in this
- 1:16:44movie. Yeah, she's kind of lame.
- 1:16:45She dies in that movie, which is crazy, right?
- 1:16:49Because that movie just came out like the month that they started
- 1:16:52shooting. It feels like, yeah.
- 1:16:53Or like a few months before at least.
- 1:16:55Yeah, yeah. So yeah, Sam and Tara aren't
- 1:16:58allowed to leave town because they are persons of interest.
- 1:17:02They're reporters outside. And of course, they're all
- 1:17:04parasites. But you know who's the most
- 1:17:05parasitic of them? All one GAIL Weathers.
- 1:17:08Nay, Riley. And she's it's another.
- 1:17:12Scream. Is it Scream too?
- 1:17:14Which one is 1 Merced? No, it's first one.
- 1:17:16It's several. It's it's a lot of them.
- 1:17:18Yeah. GAIL always be getting Dick.
- 1:17:21Yeah, it's the same thing. She's like, you know,
- 1:17:24questioning Sam as if she didn't have that, you know, shared
- 1:17:28moment in the past movie. Yeah, about the whole traumatic
- 1:17:31shit going on. So Sam tries to punch her and
- 1:17:34Gail's like, I've been through this before and Terry goes.
- 1:17:38Boom. Never had a 12 before.
- 1:17:40Yeah, that's fresh. That's that's the pirate
- 1:17:42sisterhood. So they're mad about the book
- 1:17:46that she wrote. She was like, you specifically
- 1:17:48said you weren't gonna write about the murders.
- 1:17:49You said you were gonna write about the Dewey and he would be
- 1:17:52so disappointed in you. And she was like, that's a low
- 1:17:55blow. And she goes.
- 1:17:56Everything you wrote's a low blow.
- 1:17:57I mean, she framed, she basically planted the seed that
- 1:18:01terror or not, Terra Sam has killers, blood and like, you
- 1:18:05know, the eyes of a killer. Like motive.
- 1:18:07You know, like. Yeah, it's They have every right
- 1:18:10to be pissed off of GAIL. I like that she quotes Gail's
- 1:18:13book but doesn't do like the exact pages.
- 1:18:15So we get like a hint of Dewey without like a full Dewey rip
- 1:18:17off. Yeah, I know.
- 1:18:20And then she said she spoke to Sidney.
- 1:18:22She sends her love. She took Mark and the kids
- 1:18:25someplace safe. She deserves her happy ending.
- 1:18:27Yeah, that just felt like the Riders being like, look, we
- 1:18:30tried like you know, she deserves her happy ending
- 1:18:33though, and then seems like that's one thing that we can
- 1:18:35agree. No hard feelings.
- 1:18:37Yeah, so Dr. Stone is at his house watching a movie while
- 1:18:43eating cereal and drinking chocolate milk.
- 1:18:45So I was right not to trust him. Half the chocolate milk makes it
- 1:18:49somewhat better, but I don't know you're still half killer.
- 1:18:53Trust. Yeah, he gets a knock at a door
- 1:18:56and like, cuz he's got like frosted glass and he can tell it
- 1:19:01somebody in a costume and he was like you're a day early for
- 1:19:04trick or treating. Yet somehow he still decides to
- 1:19:07get closer to the door, and then he gets stabbed through the
- 1:19:09nose. Yeah, I'm glad that, like, I
- 1:19:11missed that in the theater whenever I watched this the
- 1:19:14first time. So this is my first time
- 1:19:15watching this go. It's cool.
- 1:19:17I like it, yeah. And then goes face breaks in and
- 1:19:21steals Sam's file because Dr. Stone doesn't follow HIPAA laws.
- 1:19:26Just. Right there.
- 1:19:27Just right out in the open, our red right Hanser is playing,
- 1:19:31yeah, as Mindy lectures her friends in the park.
- 1:19:35Yeah, so she's explaining the sequel to requel rules.
- 1:19:39But it's not just that because they've already done the sequel.
- 1:19:42It's now our franchise so. The rules are one Everything is
- 1:19:47bigger than the last movie. Isn't that the same thing as
- 1:19:50the, you know, the sequel rule? Yeah, same thing as the.
- 1:19:52Sequel doubled. Whatever, #2 whatever happened
- 1:19:55last time will be the opposite. Feel like we've also heard that
- 1:19:59before. I can't confirm if that's been
- 1:20:00one or not. And #3 nobody is safe.
- 1:20:03We definitely heard that last summer.
- 1:20:04Yeah, like legacy. Carey three, you're not saying
- 1:20:07Yeah. And three, it's also the same
- 1:20:08thing. Like Sid, you could die too.
- 1:20:10And they even make a point saying like, Sam Terry, you guys
- 1:20:12could die too. Mmhmm.
- 1:20:14And then they point out why everybody's a suspect.
- 1:20:17Ethan is randomly Chad's roommate and he goes, it was a
- 1:20:20roommate lottery and she goes, those are super easy.
- 1:20:22Hack. Not even concerned about that.
- 1:20:24Quinn happened to Quinn the slutty roommate.
- 1:20:28And Quinn goes sex positive. And Mindy, I think has a moment
- 1:20:32where she goes, that was not very feminist of me.
- 1:20:35You're correct. Respect.
- 1:20:39And she was like, you just happened to answer their ad
- 1:20:41online. How convenient.
- 1:20:43And your dad's a cop. And she goes, yeah, my dad's a
- 1:20:46cop, so I feel like that should vouch for me.
- 1:20:48And she cuz gives you access. Also, it was an anonymous
- 1:20:52listing. Yeah, what?
- 1:20:53Terrace says so and Annika the love interest.
- 1:20:58Never trust the love interest and Annika seems a little bit
- 1:21:01hurt, but we don't really know because this movie says fuck you
- 1:21:04to Annika. Yeah, really like Annika.
- 1:21:06Much like the girl in that episode of House Hunters.
- 1:21:10Yeah. Oh my God, it's just do you
- 1:21:11think Radio Silence also watches House Hunters?
- 1:21:14And that is also their favorite episode?
- 1:21:16Could. Be I really.
- 1:21:18I might interview them. That's.
- 1:21:19That would be like one of the deepest customers.
- 1:21:20Oh my God, somebody got it. Like what if, like, they
- 1:21:24actually showed. That's why she's got the blonde
- 1:21:26streaks in. Her hair?
- 1:21:27What if they actually showed her apartment and her bathroom
- 1:21:29doesn't have a door? Like that would be like, my God,
- 1:21:34that's actually it. No, But that's why she dies,
- 1:21:36because. Ghostface comes through the
- 1:21:38bathroom. Ah okay.
- 1:21:42Yeah. Head cannon.
- 1:21:43He can't convince me otherwise. Okay.
- 1:21:48So Kirby and Bailey are discussing how Stone died.
- 1:21:51He did end up reporting Sam supposed threatening remarks.
- 1:21:55There's nothing threatening in what she said.
- 1:21:57Look, is it something that should be discussed in therapy?
- 1:22:00Absolutely. But she wasn't saying, I want to
- 1:22:03stab more people right now. Yeah.
- 1:22:06Like, I mean the therapist didn't even let her elaborate.
- 1:22:09She's like, yeah, so like, I, you know, I retaliated in
- 1:22:11self-defense and it felt good. And he's like, OK, that's it,
- 1:22:14I'm gonna have to pass you on to somebody else And she's like,
- 1:22:16wait, wait, I got more to say. No, no, no.
- 1:22:18You gotta go like the guy. Just, like, shut her down
- 1:22:20immediately. Yeah, he was hoping to get
- 1:22:22gossip and he actually had to do his job and he wasn't prepared
- 1:22:25for that. That's.
- 1:22:26Too much gossip. He says that the mask left at
- 1:22:31that scene was Roman's mask and Kirby's says pretty bold choice
- 1:22:35of him to be the only solo killer.
- 1:22:38And then Bailey asked her about the movies and she says forget
- 1:22:41about the movies growth. I do like this.
- 1:22:44They're like reviewing all the killers from the past movies.
- 1:22:49Like, yeah, kudos to him. Ambitious, I guess, You know?
- 1:22:51Yeah, it's great. Listen, y'all Stu is confirmed
- 1:22:55dead. He's confirmed dead.
- 1:22:56They say it multiple times in this movie.
- 1:22:59We get a little bit of like, I like that they acknowledge it
- 1:23:02whenever her and Mindy have that little like chat together and
- 1:23:06she's like, if you believe that, he's dead.
- 1:23:09Like, you know, there's still like a theory going on in the
- 1:23:12universe that Stu is still alive also.
- 1:23:16So after Kirby leaves, Bailey has somebody check in on her.
- 1:23:20Call the Atlanta office. Get some background Intel on
- 1:23:24agent Read. Yeah, you can tell that he was
- 1:23:27not expecting her to come into the mix.
- 1:23:29No, he was like, what the? Fuck.
- 1:23:30Shit, so they have a sleepover, everybody's in the apartment,
- 1:23:36and then the Core 4 says fuck you to all of their new friends
- 1:23:39and they just bond in the kitchen together and everybody
- 1:23:42else that's only joined together through them is awkwardly
- 1:23:45sitting around like, So what's your major?
- 1:23:48It's just it's just Annika Quinn is in her room having sex.
- 1:23:54Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 1:23:54And Ethan is in study hall. So yeah, they just leave Annika
- 1:23:59out of the entire thing, of course, because that's what this
- 1:24:02movie is. Yeah, fuck Annika.
- 1:24:04And. They're all like bonding
- 1:24:07together and cute boy Danny sees ghost face on the other side
- 1:24:13standing behind Quinn and he's trying to warn Sam and everybody
- 1:24:17cuz he can see into the kitchen but he can't get their attention
- 1:24:20so he tries to call and then. Like stamps used to, phone
- 1:24:24departments are surprisingly like soundproofed.
- 1:24:27I feel like you would be able to hear his shouting with how close
- 1:24:30they. Are again New York?
- 1:24:31You gotta be like, used to hearing all the.
- 1:24:33I'm sure you drowned. Not that noise.
- 1:24:35I'm not saying that they're drowning it out.
- 1:24:37I'm saying that we hear the sound of it from within their
- 1:24:41apartment. And I was like like.
- 1:24:46Well. OK, but I think it's hilarious
- 1:24:48that like he calls her and he watches her look at the phone,
- 1:24:52see him calling and then just hits hang up like doesn't even
- 1:24:55pick it up and that she's like, I'll call him back later.
- 1:24:57Yeah, like seeing that, like for him, like, Oh no, Danny, I'm so
- 1:25:00sorry. So yeah, then there's a
- 1:25:03Ghostface attack. He like they hear sounds in
- 1:25:06Queens Room and at first they think that she's just getting.
- 1:25:09Wowed sex. Real wild with not Paul, but
- 1:25:12it's actually her being murdered.
- 1:25:14And once they hear enough sounds, they're like, uh oh,
- 1:25:17they run in there, find her body bloody.
- 1:25:20They all get texts with an image of her.
- 1:25:22Oh yeah, yeah. So Sam tries to get a knife, but
- 1:25:25the knife block is empty and Ghostface is like, haha.
- 1:25:28And then? Sam uses the knife block and
- 1:25:30hits Ghostface, and I love it. I lost my fucking mind when we
- 1:25:36saw that in theaters. Yeah, it's amazing because you
- 1:25:38know what? A knife block is a heavy, like,
- 1:25:42adhesive equipment. It's just wood, man.
- 1:25:43Yeah, it's solid. I love that.
- 1:25:48So yeah, they he's incapacitated.
- 1:25:50They all go into the bedroom and like push some bookcases in
- 1:25:54front of it. Tara and Chad, who had like
- 1:25:56managed to get out of the apartment.
- 1:25:57Yeah, they will went downstairs. So they are now having to cross
- 1:26:02to Danny's apartment with the giant ass ladder that you have
- 1:26:06because he's got this 12 or 15 foot ladder or whatever, however
- 1:26:09close these apartments are. Which lends further credoms to
- 1:26:12my theory that they should have been able to hear him shouting
- 1:26:14at least a little bit. Yeah, so same goes 1st and
- 1:26:17crosses successfully, then Mindy goes.
- 1:26:19Annika's been stabbed by the way.
- 1:26:20Actually Annika and Mindy have both been stabbed.
- 1:26:22Yeah, but Annika is in worst place.
- 1:26:24Stabbed in the arm. Annika was stabbed in several
- 1:26:26organs. I feel like, do you think that
- 1:26:29they were trying to make Mindy? Suspicious here by getting her
- 1:26:32like the arm step. No, because it wasn't her
- 1:26:34forearm, it was her bicep. No.
- 1:26:36OK, yeah, the bicep is not suspicious.
- 1:26:38OK, since the forearm suspicious.
- 1:26:41Fair enough. So if she gets across and then
- 1:26:43Annika tries to, but by that time, Gross Face has gotten into
- 1:26:47the bedroom and takes the ladder and starts shaking it and causes
- 1:26:50her to fall and that's break her neck on the fucking dumpster.
- 1:26:53Like, that's insult to injury. I know poor Annika and she was
- 1:26:57just so sad. And that thing is like she got
- 1:26:59stabbed because she was protecting Mindy, like Ghostface
- 1:27:03came for her, got her arm and then was going for her again.
- 1:27:06And Annika goes Mindy no and like jumps in front of the knife
- 1:27:11and gets a knife into the tummy. Annika was too good for Mindy.
- 1:27:18I just just bad timing. Really bad timing.
- 1:27:22And it's never going to get better because she's dead and we
- 1:27:25see Mindy actually cry about the death of somebody she cares
- 1:27:28about for the first time in this franchise.
- 1:27:30Oh yeah, growth for her as well. OK, so now it's the next day the
- 1:27:37police are there. I do also want to point out
- 1:27:39that, like while Annika was climbing across the ladder, Sam
- 1:27:42like grabs her hand and is trying to pull her forward.
- 1:27:45But she like because she's bloody it slides right out of
- 1:27:48her hand, Yeah. Next morning, cops are there.
- 1:27:54The dad is there, Bailey. That's all I wrote him down as.
- 1:27:57He's like give him crocodile tears because he saw his
- 1:28:00daughter's dead body. Yeah.
- 1:28:02Ethan shows up and Chad is suspicious and pins him against
- 1:28:07the wall and he starts blaming him.
- 1:28:10He was on eco, yeah. And then Sam is like talking to
- 1:28:15Danny and she blames herself. She's like, this is all because
- 1:28:18of me. I feel like I can't trust
- 1:28:19anybody. And Danny goes good, don't trust
- 1:28:23anybody, don't even trust me. I love him as a love interest
- 1:28:27because he's. He's a full, like, adult about
- 1:28:31all of this. Yeah, Because normally, like,
- 1:28:34you would see like, Oh yeah, no, you can trust me, babe.
- 1:28:37Totally. That would be something Dewey
- 1:28:38would have said too, though. Don't trust me too.
- 1:28:41Yeah, it's fine. I get it.
- 1:28:43We're in a slasher movie now. We're in a franchise.
- 1:28:47Yeah, we're in a franchise, okay.
- 1:28:50So GAIL also arrives. Yeah, by the way, Bailey's been
- 1:28:56taken off the case because he's his daughter.
- 1:28:58Yeah, he's too upset. So GAIL was there.
- 1:29:01And she has something to show them.
- 1:29:04She knows that. Where the master coming from?
- 1:29:06Yeah. So she takes them to this secret
- 1:29:08building. I also, I want to talk about her
- 1:29:10like reacting to Kirby, being in the FBI.
- 1:29:13She goes, you're a child. And Kirby's like, I'm 30 and I
- 1:29:17relate. It's.
- 1:29:18So hard to that line. Yeah, like shit.
- 1:29:22Like, I'm 30. I probably should have like a
- 1:29:23really good job right now. And then I also had to do a lot
- 1:29:28of math because I was thinking about how old I was when I saw
- 1:29:31Scream for and how old I am now. And I was like, yeah, if she was
- 1:29:34a senior, cuz I was a freshman in college when it came out,
- 1:29:38like she could be rounding up fairly, yeah.
- 1:29:40Or she could have been held back.
- 1:29:42I don't know. She's a tiny person.
- 1:29:44She could be, you know, hating Panettiere.
- 1:29:46It's just, I mean, if she was, if she was a senior in high
- 1:29:49school, she was already 18, so I was 18 by the time I graduated,
- 1:29:52so I had a January birthday. I suppose, yeah.
- 1:29:56Like, it's it's plausible. It just, it did make me stop and
- 1:29:59do math halfway through, which I always have mixed feelings about
- 1:30:03in a movie. So they go to this secret
- 1:30:06building in New York City that has like a key card entrance.
- 1:30:09It's crazy. And somehow, these two college
- 1:30:12kids could just afford to run. What is even more bizarre is
- 1:30:15like. Kirby couldn't find out.
- 1:30:17She checked everything about. She's like I've been tracing
- 1:30:20their financials and getting those while I'm good at my job.
- 1:30:22Yeah, like, how did a fucking reporter get all of this info
- 1:30:25that the FBI couldn't get? GAIL really relies on Dewey to
- 1:30:28be her conscience. Like, without him around, she's
- 1:30:31just like. I'm still not buying it.
- 1:30:33A fucking reporter got this information and the FBI couldn't
- 1:30:36get it. Oh no, Bailey reveals later
- 1:30:38that, like, he basically led GAIL to it.
- 1:30:41Oh really? Yeah, I must have missed that.
- 1:30:44OK, it's like a throwaway line, but like, oh, we just need to
- 1:30:47get GAIL to find the records or whatever.
- 1:30:49OK, I gotcha. So the building is a abandoned
- 1:30:53movie theater, I think, and there's like a whole shrine to
- 1:30:57all the past ghost faces. It is disturbing.
- 1:31:00All of the props and things from the previous killings, crime
- 1:31:05scenes, and it has all of the quotes and the masks.
- 1:31:07Also back in the case on the stage.
- 1:31:10Yeah, in cases it's pretty intense.
- 1:31:13Yeah, and Sam goes up to Billy's mask and she sees him for the
- 1:31:19first time. And and they did such a stupid
- 1:31:21thing. I got they project him, but they
- 1:31:23don't project his face where the face would be on the mannequin.
- 1:31:27They just like, put it to the side.
- 1:31:29I wonder if maybe they tried to do that and it was like hard to
- 1:31:32make it legible. I noticed watching this one that
- 1:31:36they really didn't try with de aging skiing.
- 1:31:39No, they absolutely. They were like, that was a
- 1:31:41nightmare last time. We all know that he's older now.
- 1:31:43Like, it's fine. Yeah, like Sam just now
- 1:31:45realized. Oh yeah, he would have been an
- 1:31:47old man. It's like the opposite of what
- 1:31:49happened with John Goodman and righteous gemstones where, like,
- 1:31:51they got so much better at de aging him and that.
- 1:31:54Like this time they're just like, we're not even gonna try.
- 1:31:56We never out right see him anymore.
- 1:31:57He's always kind of, like, faded.
- 1:31:59Yeah, I guess so, they thought. I don't know.
- 1:32:01I had noticed it right away, like he, yeah, he's not sitting
- 1:32:04in the back seat anymore, you know, he's just in a reflection.
- 1:32:07Yeah, but he's, you know, talking.
- 1:32:09He's still in Sam's head. So this is where we get people
- 1:32:13like talking about their feelings.
- 1:32:16Caribbean Mindy are talking about Stew and horror movies.
- 1:32:20If you believe they said, yeah, they're really like nerd out
- 1:32:23about horror. They have a lot of same
- 1:32:24opinions. It's kind of fun watching them
- 1:32:26together since they're like, yeah, like they are, you know,
- 1:32:30versions of each other. Tara is really freaked out by
- 1:32:35all of this to be back in this again.
- 1:32:37She's kind of panicking because she hasn't been dealing with
- 1:32:40everything that happened to her before, and now she's forced to
- 1:32:42confront it. And so Kirby goes to talk to
- 1:32:45her, while Sam and GAIL talk about, like, everything that's
- 1:32:50happened. Because apparently Sam's mom cut
- 1:32:53her off for telling Tara about the truth about her dad and
- 1:32:58everything. And so Tara cut her mom off and
- 1:33:01it's just everything's a mess. So what happened while we didn't
- 1:33:05have the movie going? Like, since the last movie
- 1:33:07always happened with their relationship, it seems.
- 1:33:10Yeah. And you know, this is where
- 1:33:12GAIL, like, talks about, like, sometimes you just have to find
- 1:33:15your family. And this is the moment that in
- 1:33:17the movie theater, because they played Dewey's theme and you
- 1:33:20right next to me, you just went. Well, it's so sad, man.
- 1:33:26Yeah. I wish we still get it.
- 1:33:27Even though Dewey's not here. Yeah, I like that little like
- 1:33:30nod. Yeah.
- 1:33:33Kirby is telling Tara about how she technically died for four
- 1:33:36minutes when she was stabbed, and then afterwards she got mad
- 1:33:40and she decided that she was going to do something about it.
- 1:33:42So that's why she's an FBI agent.
- 1:33:44She's making sure other people don't have to go through the
- 1:33:46same shit and that if they do, she takes care of the situation.
- 1:33:50Yeah. And then Bailey also shows up
- 1:33:53like, I guess he figured out where they were and he's like,
- 1:33:55hey, I have an idea. And then Kirby's like, sorry
- 1:33:59GAIL, no press. So now we get so many
- 1:34:03references. So Tara and Sam are like walking
- 1:34:06through the park hoping to like bait a Ghostface call.
- 1:34:10And in the van we have got Ethan eating Cheetos, which is a
- 1:34:13definite Kenny thing. And then they also talk about
- 1:34:16how Randy died in a van. In a park.
- 1:34:19Yeah, and this is in Part 2. Yeah, so they trace the call,
- 1:34:24they get another call from Richie, Sam does and she
- 1:34:27answers. And the ghost face is like, you
- 1:34:29think I would actually show up? I know that you guys are on this
- 1:34:31shit, so I'm not even. There I'm West Side, yeah.
- 1:34:35Herbie successfully traces it to an apartment like, way up there.
- 1:34:38Yeah, but Tara and Sam already know what apartment it is
- 1:34:41because it's Gail's apartment. So.
- 1:34:44How do they know where GAIL lives?
- 1:34:47I don't know. Like, I don't know.
- 1:34:49They're clearly not close because, like, GAIL just showed
- 1:34:52up out of nowhere and they were pissed at her.
- 1:34:54Yeah, that that's a little bit weird, yeah.
- 1:34:58But they're gonna go help her. And in order to do that, they
- 1:35:00still Bailey's car. Yeah, cuz he wants to do it by
- 1:35:04the book and they refuse to. I also again, I don't know if
- 1:35:09this is intentionally a reference, but do you remember
- 1:35:13in the new Texas Chainsaw how the one character never got like
- 1:35:17a name and a caption? She was always like caption date
- 1:35:21such and such as girlfriend. Yeah, I love that Gail's
- 1:35:24boyfriend is just caption as Gail's partner.
- 1:35:26Yeah, I mean, we don't. He's just there, like, here's
- 1:35:29your coffee and it's just like that.
- 1:35:31And then he gets killed in the background, just like, OK, he's
- 1:35:34just a body. And ATM the captions are
- 1:35:38notoriously messed up and I'm fod lead them.
- 1:35:40They refer to the segment as captions Crunch, and they talk a
- 1:35:45lot about, like, when the captions just say woman, it's
- 1:35:49like, we know all of their names.
- 1:35:54Okay. Yeah.
- 1:35:55So GAIL gets a Ghostface call and it is the first time that
- 1:35:58they've ever spoken on the phone.
- 1:35:59Yeah, I think it's funny. The boyfriend gets a call.
- 1:36:02He's like, yeah, he says he's the killer you wanna talk to?
- 1:36:06He's also a Himbo. Yeah, she definitely went with
- 1:36:10like, looks over brains with this guy right here for sure.
- 1:36:16She knew what she needed at the time.
- 1:36:17Yeah, she's like, I've already had the nice guy I need.
- 1:36:20Also, I wanna say GAIL is wearing a rubber band in her
- 1:36:24hair that has the exact same color as her shirt and tennis
- 1:36:28shoes. And that's just such a nice
- 1:36:31detail. And it's just so very GAIL, like
- 1:36:33even in her lounging workout gear, it's like coordinated like
- 1:36:38that. Yeah, she's got a nice
- 1:36:40apartment. I got it so nice.
- 1:36:42Yeah, well she gets the call, she takes it.
- 1:36:44And it's cool that they acknowledge cuz I had never
- 1:36:47really thought about it. And they say, yeah, you know,
- 1:36:50you're long overdue for a call. We've never had a call before,
- 1:36:53so here we go. You've always mostly just been
- 1:36:55in the way, never an actual target.
- 1:36:57Yeah, but now, now we're gonna, we're gonna change that.
- 1:37:00Yeah, so in the background, while the conversations going
- 1:37:03on, the boyfriend does get killed.
- 1:37:05There's like a chase through the apartment and GAIL winds up in
- 1:37:08her closet where she's got a gun safe.
- 1:37:11I do like the very realistic, like her fucking up the pin a
- 1:37:14couple of times. Yeah, if you're panicked, you're
- 1:37:16not gonna nail that right away. Yeah, I mean, I wasn't panicked
- 1:37:19earlier today trying to pay our mortgage and I just gave up and
- 1:37:22changed our password because it fucking pissed me off cuz I kept
- 1:37:27messing it up. So yeah, she shoots through the
- 1:37:31door, but obviously it doesn't get Ghostface and so when she
- 1:37:34goes out to look for him, she's like, can I put you on hold?
- 1:37:37And goes just goes what? Yeah.
- 1:37:40That's great. And This is why we needed a call
- 1:37:42from GAIL, because, like, she's gonna play it way differently
- 1:37:45than anybody else would. And she calls back to get an
- 1:37:48idea of where Ghostface is, and she attempts to shoot, but
- 1:37:52Ghostface bursts out and stabs her.
- 1:37:55They have a little bit of back and forth that ends with
- 1:37:57Terrence and bursting in and trying to shoot at Ghost Face,
- 1:38:01but Ghost Face running away. Yeah, go good stab three times
- 1:38:04and they're all pretty bad stabs.
- 1:38:07Yeah, but this is Scream, so she's Hey, OK guys, don't worry
- 1:38:11about GAIL. Don't just like tell Sydney he
- 1:38:13never got me. Yeah, she kind of dies there.
- 1:38:17But then the paramedics come in and like, oh, weak pulse.
- 1:38:20When you hear weak pulse in a horror movie, they're gonna
- 1:38:23Yeah, they're not. I mean, if there's ever a hint
- 1:38:26of life, they survive. Always.
- 1:38:27It's kind of like the reverse of like if you don't see the body,
- 1:38:30they didn't die. Like if a paramedic says that
- 1:38:33they're still alive, they're gonna at least make it through
- 1:38:35this, maybe. They could be decapitated.
- 1:38:37If there is a swipe pulse, they will make it, yeah, then like we
- 1:38:40can. We can sew that shit back on.
- 1:38:42It's fine. Yeah, medicines come along.
- 1:38:45Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:38:49Which also I forget what movie it was, but it was something
- 1:38:52online. And so it was like there is no
- 1:38:54way that they would have been able to fix that for her in the
- 1:38:5790s, even in 2023. It's unrealistic.
- 1:39:00And I'm like I mean. I'm curious what this is.
- 1:39:05What is it? Shit, it was Scream.
- 1:39:06It was somebody talking about Drew Barrymore did an interview
- 1:39:10where she very jokingly said that with creative writing they
- 1:39:13could bring back Casey Becker. She very clearly didn't mean it,
- 1:39:17but like, people are like, how dumb does she think that?
- 1:39:20Like, she was basically had a C-section and there's no way
- 1:39:23that the technology in the 90s would have, like, helped her
- 1:39:26survive. And I just feel like it's not
- 1:39:28the Stone Age. Like, granted, there have been a
- 1:39:31lot of advances in medicine since then, but like you know,
- 1:39:34surgeries and stuff still existed, like.
- 1:39:37Yeah, but she got hanged and disemboweled and all kinds of
- 1:39:41shit. This is probably somebody that
- 1:39:42was born in like a year that starts with A2 like.
- 1:39:47Yeah, probably. OK, so yeah, they're at the
- 1:39:52hospital now and cute boy shows up.
- 1:39:57They call it Bailey. And who's on board getting the
- 1:40:01killer? Yeah, because Sam is basically
- 1:40:03about to self sacrifice. She's like Ghostface wants me.
- 1:40:06I don't want you guys dying. Like Mindy is actually like I am
- 1:40:09really scared. They're all really scared, but
- 1:40:12like to actually see Mindy be human.
- 1:40:14I think they really took the notes of how she came across
- 1:40:17last movie. I I don't know what my note
- 1:40:19means though. Who's on board getting the
- 1:40:21killer? Oh, OK.
- 1:40:23They're all winning the group up and get like, OK, yeah, because
- 1:40:26after after Sam is like, I'm just, they're going to give
- 1:40:29myself up. They're like, no, we have a
- 1:40:30better idea. So Bailey is going to help.
- 1:40:32He's going to have Kirby's assistants.
- 1:40:34So basically they're going to hole up at the theater.
- 1:40:39They have a plan, but they need to take the subway to get there.
- 1:40:44This is like, actually, it's really effective because one,
- 1:40:47like the absolute crowdedness of this is terrifying to me.
- 1:40:50I'm always afraid on a like a train or a subway, like, not
- 1:40:54that it comes up with us a lot because where we live we don't
- 1:40:57have it. But any time we've traveled a
- 1:40:58place with it, I'm always a little bit like so many
- 1:41:01strangers. Yeah, we're sure.
- 1:41:03Like, there's something about being like Captive.
- 1:41:06Yeah, it's also claustrophobic because like, there's barely any
- 1:41:08space. But the cool thing about the
- 1:41:11scene is we get so many Easter eggs because we're immediately
- 1:41:13greeted with somebody in Mojo JoJo costume.
- 1:41:16You get Pinhead, you get Michael Myers.
- 1:41:19There's a May Queen. May Queen I saw a Billy from
- 1:41:23Saw. There's a little Georgie from
- 1:41:27the opening of it. The twins from The Shining.
- 1:41:30There's just there's a lot. There's probably more that we
- 1:41:33haven't even gotten yet. Yeah, but it's really cool.
- 1:41:35Everybody in New York's really good at doing costumes,
- 1:41:38apparently. I love it.
- 1:41:39It's great, but. Mindy and Ethan accidentally get
- 1:41:43separated from the rest of the group.
- 1:41:45A group that is really trying to like, you know, invoke the whole
- 1:41:48safety in numbers. They did a shit job of
- 1:41:50navigating through this crowd. Hold hands, people.
- 1:41:53Hold hands. Yeah, it's kindergarten rules.
- 1:41:56Who's your buddy? Do you have your buddy's hand?
- 1:41:59No, Billy. What the fuck?
- 1:42:00Get your buddy's hand. That's why we have the buddy
- 1:42:03system, Billy. I have a feeling that the subway
- 1:42:05system, like just public transportation in general in New
- 1:42:09York City, is kind of aggressive, though.
- 1:42:11Yeah, like the crowd. Like when people pour out, like
- 1:42:13they don't give a shit. If you're in the way, they're
- 1:42:15gonna walk where they want to walk.
- 1:42:16Well, OK, To be fair to the people coming off the train,
- 1:42:19they are they like, in a social sense, have the right of way
- 1:42:23because they're it's like when people are coming off an
- 1:42:25elevator. You let people get off the
- 1:42:26elevator before you get on. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:28It's common sense. Because you got to clear the
- 1:42:30space, yes, exactly. So yeah, they get separated and
- 1:42:34they're on different trains now. So they have 10 stops to go.
- 1:42:39Yeah, and it's like, I love it because, you know, it's drawn
- 1:42:41out and everybody looks super suspicious.
- 1:42:44Of course there's a lot of ghost faces dressed up.
- 1:42:46It was just and they all love to just stand there menacingly, to
- 1:42:51quote Sienna, and terrifier too. It's in bad taste.
- 1:42:58Would you dress up at Charles Manson?
- 1:43:01These people would. They said Dahmer, which at that
- 1:43:04time, yeah, was like actually not when they filmed them, but
- 1:43:08relevant when they released. When they came out, they had the
- 1:43:11Dahmer. In the universe this is like
- 1:43:13super relevant because not only was there a Ghostface killing
- 1:43:16you know like a year ago, there is currently some going on now.
- 1:43:19Well, and the problem also is that like the STAB movies are a
- 1:43:22thing and they made the character look exactly like the
- 1:43:25one in real life. Like, you know, in 2023 language
- 1:43:29we would refer to the STAB movies almost as biopics, you
- 1:43:33know, at least the first two. Yeah.
- 1:43:36And that would like give it a different sense of how it is.
- 1:43:41But because it's like a dramatic like story, it's a horror movie
- 1:43:46in universe. People are dressing up as the
- 1:43:49Ghostface Killer from STAB, but it's also, you know, from
- 1:43:52people's real lives. I always And it adds A
- 1:43:54complexity to it. But also like I doubt the STAB
- 1:43:58movies like why don't we see any of the new like the steel face
- 1:44:01stab I was. I want to see at least one that
- 1:44:03would. Be cool.
- 1:44:04I always thought it would be like nice for the stab masks to
- 1:44:08be the green mask because that's what the poster always is like.
- 1:44:11Give it like something to distinguish it from, yes.
- 1:44:13That way we know who is like a stab fan versus who is like a
- 1:44:16true crime, not sensitive to actual victims.
- 1:44:19Person Yeah, exactly. But yeah, so there's a lot of
- 1:44:21them there. And.
- 1:44:23One of them is slowly inching closer to Mindy, who is getting
- 1:44:27like very creeped out and is moved to the edge of the train.
- 1:44:30Panic attack. Yeah, is what's happening.
- 1:44:32Like she is like full, like heavy breathing trying to get
- 1:44:35into a corner. She's panicking and she gets
- 1:44:39stabbed, goes face covering her mouth, and Ethan is so
- 1:44:43ineffectual at like, reaching her, like even when they get to
- 1:44:47the station that, like, I was fully like, oh, there's no way
- 1:44:51he can be a killer. He's so bad at everything.
- 1:44:55Yeah, I mean. He mysteriously disappears
- 1:44:58during this part right here and then reappears after the
- 1:45:00stabbing. I know he's not the one that
- 1:45:02does it because daily or Quinn like I was up to it here.
- 1:45:07But yeah, so she's stabbed. Could have easily finished her
- 1:45:11off, but they don't. They just give her a tummy stab
- 1:45:13and move on. Yeah, So the other group gets to
- 1:45:17the theater. Danny's not allowed in, and he
- 1:45:20looks sad, but he understands. I think mostly he's just pissed
- 1:45:25that, like, he had to ride the subway for that long.
- 1:45:27You mentioned I was like, why did you wait until now to tell
- 1:45:30him he's not allowed in? He went there with them, he
- 1:45:32traveled with them, He walked on the sidewalk with them all the
- 1:45:35way there, and they're like, you can't come.
- 1:45:37Like go, we didn't want to tell you, but like please just go.
- 1:45:40And I think honestly, cuz he accepts it pretty willingly.
- 1:45:43And I honestly think any frustration we've seen in his
- 1:45:45face is like, you could have told me that before we got on
- 1:45:47the subway. Right there, he actually, I feel
- 1:45:50like he has a little bit of something like, what the fuck?
- 1:45:51Really. Okay.
- 1:45:53Fine. So Gurby, Gurby, Gurby, Gurby.
- 1:45:59Curvy is the only one with a gun.
- 1:46:02She says. It's FVS.
- 1:46:03I see it with the Gurvy. No, you're thinking gun and
- 1:46:06curvy and Gurvy. No, no it's two lines and my
- 1:46:10notes ran together cuz the next line is ghost Dad.
- 1:46:15That happens to me like, I'm like, I'm thinking of something
- 1:46:17that's gonna be in the sentence and then like, OK, Gervy.
- 1:46:20Yeah, no. I was trying to read my note
- 1:46:22about curvy, but then I started to read my note about Ghost Dad.
- 1:46:26OK, because goes dead is trying to give Sam some pointers on how
- 1:46:29to survive this and she reaches him to the case and grabs his
- 1:46:33knife. That is definitely covered with
- 1:46:34about 10 different evolutions of tetanus at this point.
- 1:46:37Is that rust or is that supposed to be blood?
- 1:46:39Like, I think it's supposed to be blood.
- 1:46:41They try and make it look gooey, which it wouldn't be at this.
- 1:46:43Point. It was just way dressed hunting.
- 1:46:45That she's been drying for decades.
- 1:46:47That shit is not goopy. There's no goop there.
- 1:46:49Yeah. Bailey calls and tells Sam that
- 1:46:54Kirby was like, Kirby was let go two months ago because she was
- 1:47:00unstable after the attacks on Woodsboro last year.
- 1:47:03She had, like, a relapse. So Sam tries to get the other
- 1:47:09kids to leave, but the gate that they came in through is chained
- 1:47:12up. Yeah.
- 1:47:13And then a film starts playing in the theater and it's like a
- 1:47:17stab fan film, a stand film, if you will.
- 1:47:20Yes, that must be where the term comes from.
- 1:47:23Yeah, I know it's not. Please don't.
- 1:47:26Please don't tell us where it actually came from.
- 1:47:29So Tara and Chad are out in the lobby talking about the really
- 1:47:33old candy, and then they kiss and then Sam runs in and she's
- 1:47:40like, we need to go. It's Kirby.
- 1:47:42There's a lot of fighting happening.
- 1:47:43And then all of a sudden we see two ghost face and Chad gets
- 1:47:47stabbed a lot. Like, it's just like Boop.
- 1:47:49Boop. It's 20 something times.
- 1:47:51At least my man gets fucking fucked up.
- 1:47:55I don't understand how he survives this.
- 1:47:57Like, sure, I'm all for throwing that stuff out the window, but
- 1:48:01like, if you're gonna stab a person that many times do we
- 1:48:05would never. Yeah, like.
- 1:48:08He got stabbed, sure, but not this many times and never
- 1:48:11survived. I just hope, like in Stab Seven
- 1:48:13we talked about him like going to dialysis or something,
- 1:48:15because he's got altered kidney functions.
- 1:48:18Yeah, after being stabbed in his kidneys.
- 1:48:20Some organs are fucked up for sure.
- 1:48:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Tara and Sam end up getting
- 1:48:25trapped and Kirby comes in shooting, and at first they're
- 1:48:28like, what's you? And she goes, it's not you.
- 1:48:30And then Bailey appears, He goes, it's her.
- 1:48:32And then he shoots her. And then they're like, what?
- 1:48:35And then just like. Yeah, of course it's me.
- 1:48:38Yeah. And then the two ghost face
- 1:48:39comes in. He's like, good job.
- 1:48:41And so Ethan takes his mask off and that's his son.
- 1:48:46His name. His real name is Ethan Bailey.
- 1:48:49Whoa. And then they're like, so that
- 1:48:51means the other ghost face is Mindy, which what a leap.
- 1:48:55Like, I get that she's only first and left alive, but like
- 1:48:57it could have been a total stranger.
- 1:48:59Oh, I get it. Because her and Ethan were
- 1:49:02separated. But still, yeah, it's it's a
- 1:49:05it's a leap. I get it, yeah.
- 1:49:07But no, it's Quinn. It's Quinn.
- 1:49:09She's not dead. He swapped her out for a fresh
- 1:49:12body. Which what the fuck does that
- 1:49:14mean? Doesn't make any sense.
- 1:49:15He's like a grieving father. Can get away with a lot.
- 1:49:18What is? What do you mean?
- 1:49:20What did you get? What?
- 1:49:21What happened? No, he said.
- 1:49:23It's it pays off to be the first sun scene so I can just swap out
- 1:49:27the bodies, but even then like. You can't like the be able to do
- 1:49:31that and like get her body, like a new body there and identify as
- 1:49:36Quinn. There's no way.
- 1:49:37There's multiple eyes on it, you know what I mean?
- 1:49:39Like people surely saw her. I guarantee he had pictures of
- 1:49:43his daughter at his desk. I wonder if like he just got
- 1:49:45like a close enough looking body, messed up the face and
- 1:49:48then because he's the one that would have provided the positive
- 1:49:51identification anyway, like they just.
- 1:49:53Yeah, don't. Don't do a DNA.
- 1:49:55Nope. Yeah, don't need that, Sir.
- 1:49:57I mean, why would they utilize that resource if they don't need
- 1:49:59to? You know, it's got the dad right
- 1:50:01there. It's right here.
- 1:50:04So they are the ones that started the rumors about Sam,
- 1:50:07cuz they're Richie's family and Richie was definitely the golden
- 1:50:12child because Bailey did little to nothing to curb his blood
- 1:50:17lust and in fact he actively encouraged it, helped him
- 1:50:20collect all of the crime scene evidence so he could build this
- 1:50:23shrine and. That's why, he says.
- 1:50:26You can get a lie as a cop because he was able to get all
- 1:50:29the evidence from the previous killings.
- 1:50:31Yeah. By the way, when we watched
- 1:50:33this, I fucking knew that he was a killer whenever he told Sam.
- 1:50:36You don't fuck with my family. If you do, you're dead or
- 1:50:38whatever. Like, okay, that guy's
- 1:50:40definitely gonna be a killer. Yeah, so Sam starts insulting
- 1:50:45Richie. It caused him like a limp Dick.
- 1:50:48Like piece of shit limp Dick. Yeah, like that.
- 1:50:51Cried before I slid us the road. Yeah.
- 1:50:54Kirby, Sam and Terry start fighting.
- 1:50:56Kirby gets knocked down pretty quickly.
- 1:50:59Sam and Terry tried and climb up to the balcony.
- 1:51:02Terry gets shot and falls and Sam's holding her and she's
- 1:51:04like, Sam. Let me go.
- 1:51:06Meaningful call back so Tara dropped like Sam gives her her
- 1:51:11knife and Tara drops down and stabs Ethan and the throat.
- 1:51:14As she gets stabbed in the stomach.
- 1:51:16Yeah, we've we completely forget the stab happens later.
- 1:51:19Yeah, it was completely forgotten.
- 1:51:21It's just a thing in screen movies, especially with radio
- 1:51:25silence like these people, Like if somebody gets stabbed, it's
- 1:51:27not that big of a deal. It's like that really bad movie
- 1:51:30we watched on to be the with Kerry Sultan, the 13.
- 1:51:34What the fuck was that called? 9 lives, 9 lives.
- 1:51:37No, it's not 9 lives. That's a different.
- 1:51:40Man, you're thinking of a different pair of Silver movie.
- 1:51:42No 9 Lives is the That's the one with Melissa Joan Hart.
- 1:51:49No, no, I was just the one with then we all going to that
- 1:51:53Mansion and Scholar, well, it's a different number.
- 1:51:56I don't know. Whatever It's Anyway, it's the
- 1:51:58rules of that where, like, a tummy stab isn't necessarily
- 1:52:00fatal, but a shoulder stab is. Yes, yeah.
- 1:52:04So OK, yeah. So they all fight.
- 1:52:06She's Terror manages to stab Ethan through the mouth and like
- 1:52:11his head, it's calls them to diversion, yeah.
- 1:52:15Savage Quinn gets shot in the head and then Bailey comes up
- 1:52:19there and charges at Sam with his gun and he he shoots after
- 1:52:25they meet and stab each other like into the air, like it
- 1:52:28doesn't make any sense. I think he got caught up in the
- 1:52:30moment. He's like, OK, we're charging
- 1:52:31now. Yeah, So they fall over the
- 1:52:33balcony and then he gets up and he's all alone.
- 1:52:35He's like looking around for and she calls him.
- 1:52:38And then she sneaks up in a cloak and mask, and, well, she.
- 1:52:43Calls and is doing the Ghostface voice too.
- 1:52:46Like she's fully embraced being Ghostface at this point.
- 1:52:49Yep, she's gone full Billy. Yeah, so.
- 1:52:52And she stabs him like so many fucking times.
- 1:52:55Like even more than she did Richie.
- 1:52:57Yeah, it's insane. And like, Tara looks a little
- 1:53:00bit concerned, like afterwards. And then Sam goes, are you OK?
- 1:53:05And Tara goes, I'm really not. And then Red Right Hand is
- 1:53:08playing over the credits of the fan film and they kind of
- 1:53:12reconcile their main drama between the two of them.
- 1:53:17We've got an Ethan jump scare, but Kirby jumps up from behind
- 1:53:21where the TV that killed Stew was displayed, and she pushes
- 1:53:25that over on top of him. That TV has got two kills.
- 1:53:29That's pretty good for a TV. Yeah, that's a high body count
- 1:53:33for probably the highest kill count of TV.
- 1:53:35Can you imagine that? TV is like, I'll get my chance
- 1:53:36again. All right, the cops and Danny
- 1:53:41come in. Save the day.
- 1:53:43We got ambulances that are cleaning folks up and taking
- 1:53:47people away. Chad is somehow still alive.
- 1:53:50Mindy apparently busted out of the hospital and she is very
- 1:53:54drugged up and hyper. She's like, I can't feel
- 1:53:55anything below my shoulders and Sam has the mask in her hands,
- 1:54:03but she drops it before they leave.
- 1:54:05Yeah, and the cops, like, hey, we need the there's evidence.
- 1:54:08Wow, you couldn't say that to me.
- 1:54:10Yeah, like, I mean, cuz again, she's battling like, OK, like is
- 1:54:15she gonna be the ghost face here?
- 1:54:16Cuz I'm sure that's what the audience is wanting to know to
- 1:54:18watch again. And then she just strips like,
- 1:54:20yeah, I'm not gonna do that. She's like, fuck that, yeah.
- 1:54:23Which is cool. I'm glad that they're dropping
- 1:54:24that as like a storyline for the next movie.
- 1:54:26Yeah, it's been played out at this point.
- 1:54:28I love Skeetel Rich, but I would be fine if he's not involved in
- 1:54:31the next one at all. Yeah, me too.
- 1:54:33Yeah. OK.
- 1:54:36Sorry, that was it. I'm gonna keep mine in on 975.
- 1:54:38It's just a fun fucking movie. It's like implausibility is
- 1:54:42aside, I I'm not in this franchise for realism.
- 1:54:45I don't feel like I have to suspend my disbelief too much
- 1:54:48for it for it to be distracting. Honestly, like, I'm glad that it
- 1:54:52embraces the unrealistic aspects more than the other movies do.
- 1:54:57Because, like, that's it just makes it that much more fun to
- 1:55:00watch. It makes it a much more
- 1:55:01enjoyable experience for me. What's your score?
- 1:55:05I'm keeping 95. Also 95 Okay so 9625 Talia I
- 1:55:13think Talia gives us a 10 this. Is a premiere for all of them.
- 1:55:16Yeah, they've never seen those. Yeah, it was a all of the girls
- 1:55:18were in here. So Zoe did watch.
- 1:55:19Scout came out cuz she was like. New screen movie.
- 1:55:22Yeah, And Talia, like, she went through all of her squeaky toys.
- 1:55:25Like all of them. She was like, I'm gonna squeak
- 1:55:27this one. I'm gonna squeak this one.
- 1:55:28She's like, I need all my toys to be paying attention to this
- 1:55:30movie. She was fucking feeling it.
- 1:55:32Yeah, She was so exciting for her.
- 1:55:34Yeah, okay. No dream sequel?
- 1:55:37Who did you relate to? I'm gonna relate to Jason,
- 1:55:41because I would definitely write a thing on Argento for sure.
- 1:55:46Come on, I hate that I relate to that.
- 1:55:48But yes, Argento is like a great subject for like a slasher Paper
- 1:55:53Mindy for the way she looks at Kirby after they have their
- 1:55:57little nerd off. Game respecting game?
- 1:56:00Okay all right, New tagline? Okay.
- 1:56:04Well we are starting from scratch cuz both the ones that
- 1:56:06exist are rough. Yeah, okay, how?
- 1:56:12They keep saying like, who cares about movies?
- 1:56:14Yeah, who cares about taglines? I like.
- 1:56:18That that's actually really good for a screen poster.
- 1:56:21Yeah, that's awesome. OK, cool.
- 1:56:24All right. Do you have an Internet review?
- 1:56:29I do. OK, I'm sure you got a -, 1
- 1:56:32because we've both been in love with this movie since we watched
- 1:56:34it. Yes, this is somebody that saw
- 1:56:41an early screening of it. I wanted to make a joke about
- 1:56:44how I vetted this one You. Know similar to how you vetted
- 1:56:47yours last year or last week. I I still.
- 1:56:50I love that. OK, this is a three out of 10
- 1:56:54Okay. Time to put this franchise to
- 1:56:56bed. Wow.
- 1:56:56Okay. Wait, wait, what was the date
- 1:56:58that they watched this March 9th?
- 1:56:59And when did it release? March 10th.
- 1:57:01Wow. Okay just got home from an early
- 1:57:04British screening of It just got home from an la British
- 1:57:07screening of this. It's like.
- 1:57:08Right. Shit, What's up, dude?
- 1:57:11My friend suggested we go and see it.
- 1:57:12I wish I hadn't good money down the drain.
- 1:57:16Just like Jason Voorhees did some 30 odd years earlier,
- 1:57:18Ghostface goes to New York for a new killing spree.
- 1:57:21Oh, this man is going to hurt when he realizes that it's been
- 1:57:23more than 30 years. It is set a few days before
- 1:57:27Halloween, but sadly not a pumpkin or any other festive
- 1:57:30decoration insight. A train ride on which many
- 1:57:33people are dressed up in fancy dress, including several
- 1:57:35Ghostfaces, provides the only Halloween element, is also one
- 1:57:38of the better scenes. Several of the cast from Screen
- 1:57:415 her back, including Courtney Cox.
- 1:57:43She may as well not have bothered that Neve Campbell
- 1:57:45wisely stayed away. I enjoyed Part 5 but found the
- 1:57:49characters in six neither either uninteresting or annoying.
- 1:57:53There's also some bad acting, Dermot Mulroney in particular.
- 1:57:56Things do start quite promising with two good separate kills
- 1:58:00before the opening credits, but sadly most of the fight kill
- 1:58:03scenes are that follow are just laughable.
- 1:58:06Same thing can be said for the plot.
- 1:58:08Ambitious but equally ridiculous at 123 minutes.
- 1:58:12This is too long for what a poor slasher flick.
- 1:58:14This is a very flawed movie and in the opinion and in my
- 1:58:17opinion, the worst date. But I don't think it will be the
- 1:58:19last. Well, OK, I totally understand
- 1:58:22not being into it if you can't get into the characters because
- 1:58:27I mean five, like they loved five.
- 1:58:30I didn't really care for it as much.
- 1:58:32And I think part of it was some of the characters.
- 1:58:35There was a lot more to it too, but this movie felt very much
- 1:58:39like a return of the Core 4 plus new friends like the new friends
- 1:58:45didn't feel. The supporting cast was weak,
- 1:58:47definitely. I agree with that.
- 1:58:49And if you don't like the Core Four, you probably won't like
- 1:58:52this movie. I think what these writers in
- 1:58:56Radio Silence struggle with, that's Screen One in particular
- 1:59:00did really well, is giving you a good idea of who and what a
- 1:59:05character is with limited screen time.
- 1:59:08Because yeah, the supporting care.
- 1:59:10And this was the same problem that we had with Five is like, I
- 1:59:12felt very much like, OK, we're trying to introduce these
- 1:59:14people, but you don't get a good idea of who they are, how they
- 1:59:17interact with each other, how they interact with the world.
- 1:59:21Whereas like in screen one, you have a very good idea of what
- 1:59:24each character is, even if they only have a total of like 5 or
- 1:59:2710 minutes of screen time. Yeah, like, I feel like they
- 1:59:29build, like they world build with it a little bit better.
- 1:59:32Like you get an understanding of everything like here, like
- 1:59:35Annika just like exists as a girlfriend to Mindy and that's
- 1:59:39her character. And like if she's not like any
- 1:59:42other time she's on screen. It's just purely that, like, she
- 1:59:44doesn't have a she's not a person.
- 1:59:46Yeah. And like to be clear, I'm not
- 1:59:49saying that makes it a bad movie because that's a very like
- 1:59:52particular skill sets have like it's something that you refine
- 1:59:55over time. You know, I just think and I
- 1:59:59think especially there's like a little bit of fall back on the
- 2:00:02whole like well this is a franchise.
- 2:00:04So we, you know, we know that we can include more details later
- 2:00:08instead of like because they do a really good job and say ready
- 2:00:12or not. Like you have a good idea of who
- 2:00:14all the characters are because they're trying to tell that
- 2:00:16singular insulated story. And I think they need to be
- 2:00:19treating each of these as like their own.
- 2:00:21Individual story and like how do we make these characters matter?
- 2:00:25I just want them to do something different with the killer, you
- 2:00:28know, like the other ones they tie in like the relationships or
- 2:00:34like, you know, family stuff and they this was kind of just a
- 2:00:36repeat of that. Like I want to see them go
- 2:00:39somewhere different with it. It would be nice to see a
- 2:00:41different motive altogether. Yeah, and I think it would be
- 2:00:44kind of cool. Like, I know like maybe they're
- 2:00:47not. Maybe this is the core force is
- 2:00:49supposed to be? You know, Sid, Dewey and GAIL,
- 2:00:53where they're like neither of them are ever gonna be the
- 2:00:56killer. But like, I think it would be
- 2:00:58really fun to see one of them and finally just, you know, snap
- 2:01:02and go be full killer. I love you.
- 2:01:04But your numerology was all over the fucking place with that.
- 2:01:07Not numerology, but like your numbers was all over the fucking
- 2:01:09place with that cuz you said core four and then you named
- 2:01:11three names and then you said neither.
- 2:01:14No, I'm talking about the Core 4.
- 2:01:16When I'm talking about the Core 4, I'm purely about this set of
- 2:01:19characters. I know the original 3 is like
- 2:01:22GAIL, Sidney and Dewey. Yeah, But you know, I would just
- 2:01:26like, I think it would be cool to see it come from within the
- 2:01:29group of, like, people that have built up that trust.
- 2:01:33Yeah, I feel like that would be more shocking.
- 2:01:35Trust and like it makes a little bit more sense with this group.
- 2:01:38Whereas like, I always hated the idea of Sydney being the one to
- 2:01:41snap because we've been through her with so much of her growth,
- 2:01:43whereas there's still something different with this set of
- 2:01:47characters. Yeah, same with Dewey.
- 2:01:49He would never really would have been GAIL.
- 2:01:51I would have been able to see, yeah.
- 2:01:52No, I would love if GAIL was a killer at some point.
- 2:01:55Yeah, and she's still can be since she still is around.
- 2:01:59So I guess you can do that. I kind of like the idea of how
- 2:02:02you thought, how you said at the beginning you liked a Ghostface
- 2:02:05calling a copycat. So I would like the idea of
- 2:02:08seeing like, we know who, like one of the supposed ghost faces
- 2:02:12is, and they're part of the friend group, but they're also
- 2:02:14like trying to dodge the real ghost face.
- 2:02:16I love that concept. Yeah, I do like that too.
- 2:02:19That would be kind of cool to see it cuz that gets what you
- 2:02:21get like wanted, where you know who one of the ghost faces is
- 2:02:25from the get go, but they're not really a ghost face.
- 2:02:27Yeah, yeah. All right.
- 2:02:29Do you have any listener reviews?
- 2:02:31Yeah, I do. We have some this time.
- 2:02:33Well, because people have actually heard of this movie.
- 2:02:35Yeah, they're very well aware this one exists.
- 2:02:38OK, we'll start off with our Instagram review.
- 2:02:42So our Instagram review is from none other than Michael E
- 2:02:46Howard. OK, he says This film is a
- 2:02:50perfect end cap to one of the best franchises.
- 2:02:53The returning cast boosts the tensions.
- 2:02:55The Killers were a surprise until the end.
- 2:02:57The fake outs were great. My main criticism is that GAIL
- 2:03:00is underused. Maybe the next film will bring
- 2:03:03her back in a chunky role. 9 out of 10, all right.
- 2:03:06Yeah, she, I mean, I believe she was there to like, show them the
- 2:03:11shrine and then she got her moment with Ghostface and then I
- 2:03:15guess they called it a rap. But I guess, you know, if you're
- 2:03:18gonna have her, like, let her be a part of it.
- 2:03:22I guess, yeah. You know, other than just being
- 2:03:23Ohh. And GAIL is also around kind of
- 2:03:25doing her thing. Yeah, but I I I get him over on
- 2:03:30Twitter. Aquili boops.
- 2:03:33He says this could be my favorite of the franchise.
- 2:03:35Yeah, I said it. Love.
- 2:03:37The fact that it was in the city had me guessing the whole time.
- 2:03:40The reveal was a little, really. And don't get me started again.
- 2:03:44On the whole, who's doing the killing?
- 2:03:46Shit. But I love this movie, OK?
- 2:03:48I do want to figure out who was who in this.
- 2:03:52Like which Ghostface was the killing?
- 2:03:54I'm going to say I never really tried that hard to figure out
- 2:03:59who the killer is. I just try and enjoy the ride.
- 2:04:02I usually do too, but like, after the fact, I always kind of
- 2:04:04like the review in my head. OK, like, who would have been in
- 2:04:07this scene? Yeah.
- 2:04:09OK, and finally we have Tyler, he says, such a step up from the
- 2:04:14last as far as tension, building kills and set pieces.
- 2:04:18I love the progression of Sam's character and I found her a lot
- 2:04:21more likeable now that we know her better also.
- 2:04:24Thank you, Radio silence for shirtless cowboy Chad.
- 2:04:27Y'all are heroes. So you spelled love.
- 2:04:30Yeah, he's on the Himbo train with you with Chad right now.
- 2:04:33Choo Choo. OK, that's our listener reviews.
- 2:04:38OK. All right.
- 2:04:39And that is a wrap on our Scream Six episode and our franchise
- 2:04:43coverage of this one. Sometime next month, we'll have
- 2:04:46our bonus episode where we rank the Scream franchise before we
- 2:04:50go into our new franchise of That's.
- 2:04:55Right, babies, We're going to saw next month, OK, Because next
- 2:05:01we're still we still have more than a week left of the month
- 2:05:04when we're recording this. But no, Yeah, more than a week
- 2:05:08left of the month of when we're recording this.
- 2:05:10So we haven't started on our August schedule yet.
- 2:05:13The first episode of the month will be Travis's birthday
- 2:05:15episode. Yeah.
- 2:05:16And he's still trying to decide what he wants.
- 2:05:18To do, yeah. Still thinking I've got a couple
- 2:05:20there. The.
- 2:05:22You know, wing right on, but just can't really decide yet.
- 2:05:25Yeah, but if you want to know our schedule ahead of time or if
- 2:05:30you want to know where to watch movies, we post that type of
- 2:05:32stuff pretty regularly on our Instagram and Twitter.
