- 0:20Speaker 2: there is to know right now. We'll get to Hunter Biden.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We'll get to affordability and a whole lot more. Lots
- 0:26Speaker 2: to talk about today, A freezing cold. This is the
- 0:30Speaker 2: first well we had one last week, but this is
- 0:32Speaker 2: another one of those winter days today. So I come
- 0:35Speaker 2: into our beautiful, magnificent iHeart headquarters, which is floor after
- 0:41Speaker 2: floor after floor after floor of studio's office. But on
- 0:44Speaker 2: our sixth floor here, the first thing I see is
- 0:47Speaker 2: that Christmas tree. Why is there a Christmas tree? It's
- 0:51Speaker 2: not even Thanksgiving yet. It's not just here. They're all
- 0:54Speaker 2: over the place, these Christmas trees. It's starting earlier and
- 0:57Speaker 2: earlier and earlier, and it's gotta stop. It's got to stop.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I told you last week about that condominium place in
- 1:07Speaker 2: Florida where they made residents take down the Christmas decorations,
- 1:10Speaker 2: told them they're not allowed to put them up till
- 1:12Speaker 2: after Thanksgiving. Their rule is one holiday at a time,
- 1:16Speaker 2: and it makes sense. So President Trump, let me just
- 1:20Speaker 2: explain this Epstein stuff. This has been going on for
- 1:24Speaker 2: quite a while now. Donald Trump has nothing to do
- 1:27Speaker 2: with Epstein. There's no Epstein connection with Donald Trump. There's
- 1:31Speaker 2: nothing there. But he has been brilliantly playing the Democrats,
- 1:37Speaker 2: letting them build it up and build it up. If
- 1:39Speaker 2: you're watching the Sunday shows, it was all about Trump Epstein,
- 1:41Speaker 2: Trump Epstein. He's letting this build and build and build
- 1:46Speaker 2: and build. So it'll end up when they're all released,
- 1:49Speaker 2: all these files, it'll be another example of Democrats totally
- 1:53Speaker 2: misleading the public, totally conning them about something. Now, the
- 1:57Speaker 2: Epstein situation is pretty simple. He made himself a lot
- 2:01Speaker 2: of money, showed up in Florida Palm Beach, and being
- 2:05Speaker 2: a zillionaire, suddenly started hanging out at mar A Lago
- 2:08Speaker 2: and there he was all over mar Alago. This is
- 2:10Speaker 2: back in the good old and they were talking twenty
- 2:12Speaker 2: something years ago, maybe twenty five years ago. And anytime
- 2:17Speaker 2: anybody with a lot of money starts spending it at
- 2:22Speaker 2: mar A Lago and throwing parties there or back when
- 2:25Speaker 2: Trump owned the plaza, if somebody spent a fortune throwing
- 2:28Speaker 2: an incredible gallot in the ballroom, Trump would always show up.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And you'll notice even now if you follow all this
- 2:35Speaker 2: stuff on Instagram, when there's a big, big wedding or
- 2:38Speaker 2: an event at Mar A Lago where they rent the ballroom,
- 2:40Speaker 2: Trump will show up. He'll show up and wander through
- 2:42Speaker 2: the crowd tail ever. So that's how he met Epstein,
- 2:44Speaker 2: That's how I got to know him. Epstein had lots
- 2:46Speaker 2: of women and fun and celebrities, so Trump started hanging
- 2:49Speaker 2: out with him whenever he was at Mar A Lago
- 2:52Speaker 2: or there'd be a party in there. It was just
- 2:53Speaker 2: at parties, nothing else. A couple of times Epstein came
- 2:56Speaker 2: up to Trump's office showing off to some women that
- 2:59Speaker 2: he could bring him up there. Not underage, not under age,
- 3:02Speaker 2: perfectly appropriate, age appropriate women. And that was the relationship. Well,
- 3:09Speaker 2: then a couple of things happened at mar A Lago.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Epstein started hiring some people away from mar Alago mar
- 3:16Speaker 2: A Lago's staff members, so Trump told him to cut
- 3:18Speaker 2: it out, and he didn't. Also, at one point, Epstein
- 3:23Speaker 2: went after I think she was fifteen, a girl that
- 3:27Speaker 2: worked in the locker room. It was actually the daughter
- 3:29Speaker 2: of a member. It got back to Trump, and Trump
- 3:31Speaker 2: immediately banned Epstein from mar Alago. This is twenty something
- 3:36Speaker 2: years ago. Banned him. It's actually twenty four, twenty one
- 3:39Speaker 2: years ago. Banned him from mar Alago forever, never spoke
- 3:42Speaker 2: to him again, cut off all ties with the guy. Now,
- 3:45Speaker 2: as far as these young young girls, that was Epstein's preference,
- 3:48Speaker 2: that's what Epstein liked, these young young girls. So it
- 3:51Speaker 2: was him. There's rumor that Prince Andrew also liked that
- 3:54Speaker 2: and got involved. But all these people hanging around with Epstein,
- 3:58Speaker 2: it wasn't about young girls for them. They were not pedophiles.
- 4:01Speaker 2: That was Epstein. But if you went to and I
- 4:05Speaker 2: was at a few Epstein things, if you went to
- 4:06Speaker 2: Epstein's parties, there were women all over the place, but
- 4:09Speaker 2: all ages, all ages, not young girls. He had a
- 4:12Speaker 2: lot of his young girls working for him as Massuse's
- 4:15Speaker 2: and if you go to the party, they'd be checking
- 4:16Speaker 2: the coats and that kind of stuff. But Trump has
- 4:22Speaker 2: no worries at all about Epstein. It's going to be
- 4:24Speaker 2: nothing in those files that's going to bother Trump. And
- 4:26Speaker 2: he knows that so that's why he's been stringing Democrats along.
- 4:30Speaker 2: He's now last night called for Republican release all the files,
- 4:34Speaker 2: and at some point you'll see it. All, all the
- 4:36Speaker 2: files will come out.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:37Speaker 2: The problem is, this is the only problem Trump might have.
- 4:40Speaker 2: There might be some big, big donors of his, the
- 4:42Speaker 2: friends of his, that are in the files, but if
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's in the files, it's not going to be young girls.
- 4:47Speaker 2: It's going to be them at these parties, maybe cheating
- 4:49Speaker 2: on their wife, that sort of stuff. That's like a
- 4:52Speaker 2: Bill Gates kind of situation. One has already come out.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Larry Summers, Treasury Secretary to Bill Clinton, President of Harvard,
- 5:01Speaker 2: very prestigious guy, a very married guy. But he was
- 5:04Speaker 2: carrying on with women, not young girls, older women. And
- 5:09Speaker 2: the emails have already emerged from the Epstein estate. They
- 5:13Speaker 2: found the emails where Larry Summers is and I don't
- 5:16Speaker 2: know why you would put this in writing, but these
- 5:19Speaker 2: guys put it in writing. He's emailing back and forth
- 5:22Speaker 2: about this woman that woman, and she won't see him anymore,
- 5:25Speaker 2: and they're talking about they're talking about his dating life,
- 5:27Speaker 2: and he's turning to Epstein for advice on how to
- 5:29Speaker 2: get this woman back. This is a married guy, So
- 5:32Speaker 2: that kind of stuff will come out. That's the worst
- 5:34Speaker 2: of it. But nobody Trump's has no Epstein problem at all.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Once it's all released, you'll see that one of the
- 5:43Speaker 2: people at Epstein hired away from Marlago was this infamous woman,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Virginia Giuffrey, who worked at mar A Lago in the Spa.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It was Gallaine Maxwell that recruited her way into Epstein world.
- 5:58Speaker 2: She eventually killed. She committed suicide not that long ago.
- 6:05Speaker 2: But she did a million interviews with law enforcement, US Attorney, FBI,
- 6:09Speaker 2: all that sort of stuff, and she wrote a book
- 6:12Speaker 2: and in all the interviews and in the books, she
- 6:14Speaker 2: made it clear nothing ever happened with Donald Trump. In fact,
- 6:17Speaker 2: she said he was a very nice man and always
- 6:19Speaker 2: a total gentleman with her. And remember she had worked
- 6:22Speaker 2: for him too. So the US Attorney here in New York,
- 6:27Speaker 2: good guy Jay Clayton, he's been told to oversee an
- 6:30Speaker 2: investigation and to look into Democrats because a lot of
- 6:34Speaker 2: Democrats are going to have a problem. Now you know
- 6:36Speaker 2: who was really tangled up with Epstein or the banks.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Nothing to do with sex, but JP Morgan, Chase and
- 6:43Speaker 2: these other banks were really really close with Epstein, working
- 6:47Speaker 2: hard with him. The reason they did that Epstein had
- 6:51Speaker 2: billions of dollars that he was working with and he
- 6:54Speaker 2: had to put it somewhere, so they wanted it in
- 6:57Speaker 2: their bank because they can make a fortune having his
- 6:59Speaker 2: billions in their banks. So JP Morgan chasing. The other
- 7:02Speaker 2: banks were very nice to Epstein, and these are the
- 7:06Speaker 2: same banks that d banked Donald Trump threw him out,
- 7:10Speaker 2: refused to take his business. And if you're a major corporation,
- 7:14Speaker 2: you can't exist without banks. You have to have banks
- 7:17Speaker 2: for everything. So that was just disgusting the way they
- 7:21Speaker 2: d banked. It wasn't just Trump, other conservative companies. So
- 7:24Speaker 2: they deserve everything they're getting with this Epstein stuff. Now,
- 7:28Speaker 2: who else will have a problem? A lot of celebrities,
- 7:30Speaker 2: George Stephanopolis will have a big problem, George Sloppadopolis, Katie Couric,
- 7:36Speaker 2: These are some of the celebrities that were at Epstein's
- 7:38Speaker 2: house having dinner with them. You know, when you see
- 7:41Speaker 2: the ABC Sunday Morning Show this week make a big
- 7:43Speaker 2: deal out of Epstein, they failed to mention George Stepanopolos
- 7:48Speaker 2: at Epstein's house having dinner with him. Now when asked
- 7:51Speaker 2: about it. Stephanopoulois gives you this ridiculous explanation. I didn't
- 7:57Speaker 2: know who he was. I had no idea who he was.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I had no idea who he was. I should have
- 8:03Speaker 2: done my due diligence. Is Stephanopoulos's quote, Well, the guy's
- 8:07Speaker 2: a news broadcaster, host of a news show, supposedly a
- 8:12Speaker 2: journalist and a newsman. They didn't know Jeffrey Epstein was. Now,
- 8:16Speaker 2: this is after Epstein was convicted of being a pedophile.
- 8:20Speaker 2: This was trafficking the minors for prostitution. Epstein was already
- 8:24Speaker 2: convicted and had gone to prison for it. George Stephanoppos,
- 8:28Speaker 2: But I had no idea he was. I should have
- 8:31Speaker 2: looked into it. Well, I knew who he was. You
- 8:33Speaker 2: probably knew who he was. You probably read about it,
- 8:35Speaker 2: the guy in Florida that got convicted. Of course, you
- 8:38Speaker 2: read about this guy's a professional newsman on a network,
- 8:42Speaker 2: claiming you didn't know about it. There is this clip
- 8:44Speaker 2: running around the internet right now of Katie Couric. She's
- 8:47Speaker 2: on with what's the Bravo guy's name, Andy Andy Cohen.
- 8:52Speaker 2: She's on the Bravo show, and good for Andy Cohney
- 8:54Speaker 2: said the hell were you doing at Jeffrey Epstein's house
- 8:57Speaker 2: having dinner with him? So she said, well, I didn't
- 9:00Speaker 2: know who he was. I probably shouldn't. Remember she was
- 9:04Speaker 2: the anchor of the CBS Evening News, that's one of
- 9:08Speaker 2: the top news jobs in the world. And she didn't
- 9:10Speaker 2: know who Jeffrey Epstein was. This is after he was
- 9:12Speaker 2: in prison, this is after he'd been convicted, after he
- 9:15Speaker 2: went to jail. I didn't know who he was. I
- 9:18Speaker 2: guess I should have invested. First of all, who goes
- 9:21Speaker 2: to anybody's house and you don't know who they are?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Have you ever been to a house had had dinner
- 9:26Speaker 2: with somebody and when you're leaving, who is it?
- 9:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I have no idea who the guy is. I just say,
- 9:32Speaker 2: you having dinner in his house? Yeah, I don't know
- 9:35Speaker 2: who he is. Even if somehow you were that stupid,
- 9:39Speaker 2: that ignorant that you didn't know who he was after
- 9:41Speaker 2: spending the evening at his house, wouldn't you then have
- 9:44Speaker 2: some idea who he was? So Katie Kirk didn't. I
- 9:48Speaker 2: should have checked. Now she uses the excuse that Prince
- 9:51Speaker 2: Andrew was going to be at the dinner and that
- 9:56Speaker 2: Megan Markle and Prince Harry were going to become a big,
- 9:59Speaker 2: big story, was a big Royal waves. She said, I
- 10:02Speaker 2: felt I should get to know Prince Andrew. He could
- 10:04Speaker 2: help me get the exclusive. It doesn't work that way.
- 10:08Speaker 2: You just you don't need to go to somebody's house
- 10:10Speaker 2: and you can start working the story without that. So
- 10:14Speaker 2: a lot of people like Stephanopoulos, Katie Kirk are going
- 10:16Speaker 2: to have a big, big Epstein problem. You know, there's
- 10:21Speaker 2: a woman in Congress, Stacey Plasket, She's a Democrat. Now
- 10:27Speaker 2: there's a lot of files being released from the Epstein estate,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and this Epstein would text like crazy with people. But
- 10:34Speaker 2: apparently this Democrat congresswoman is texting back and forth with Epstein.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And it's during the hearings. You remember they had hearings
- 10:41Speaker 2: on Trump. Was it Michael Cohen or something? It was
- 10:45Speaker 2: Michael Cohen. There were these hearings going on and they're
- 10:48Speaker 2: asking questions, you know, they take turns each congress person
- 10:52Speaker 2: on the committee. Well, they're about to come to the
- 10:54Speaker 2: Stacey Plasket and in the during the hearings, she's texting Epstein,
- 10:59Speaker 2: who's watching it live on TV? What should I ask him?
- 11:02Speaker 2: You've been watching the testimony. What did they leave out?
- 11:04Speaker 2: What should I? And Epstein is texting her questions to
- 11:08Speaker 2: ask and at one point the witness is talking and
- 11:11Speaker 2: he mentions Rona. So this dumb congresswoman texts Epstein is
- 11:16Speaker 2: what's Rona? Is that an acronym for something? And Epstein
- 11:20Speaker 2: text back, No, that's Rona, his assistant, his chief of staff,
- 11:25Speaker 2: and he said, Rona is the keeper of the secrets.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Dig into Rona. This is this congress woman during the hearings,
- 11:31Speaker 2: contexting with Epstein. So these democrats were very, very very
- 11:35Speaker 2: close to Epstein. Rona, by the way, is Rona graft
- 11:40Speaker 2: Who's the nicest woman, the most decent, honest. There was
- 11:43Speaker 2: nothing bad there, So I don't know what Epstein was
- 11:46Speaker 2: talking about. And the other thing, if you start reading
- 11:48Speaker 2: through the emails, Epstein had nothing to do with Trump
- 11:51Speaker 2: after two thousand and four, nothing, no connect for twenty years.
- 11:56Speaker 2: He didn't know Trump at all, but a lot of
- 11:58Speaker 2: these people think he still did. So you see these
- 12:00Speaker 2: very very powerful, big people are texting and emailing Epstein
- 12:04Speaker 2: right up until the end during the first Trump term.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I'm going to Washington to meet with the present. What
- 12:11Speaker 2: should I say or a meeting with this official in
- 12:14Speaker 2: the White House, and Epstein is texting back as if
- 12:17Speaker 2: he's connected to Trump, which he wasn't at that point,
- 12:20Speaker 2: giving advice, well he likes this, he doesn't like this,
- 12:23Speaker 2: or don't see Jared, make sure you see this person.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Epstein didn't know anything. He was just conning these people
- 12:28Speaker 2: like crazy. Now here's another important point to remember. The
- 12:32Speaker 2: Biden administration had these Epstein files for four years. The
- 12:38Speaker 2: Biden administration looked through, carefully inspected everything in the Epstein
- 12:43Speaker 2: files for four years. They couldn't find anything that would
- 12:47Speaker 2: hurt Trump. They were looking for it because they wanted
- 12:49Speaker 2: to hurt Trump. They wanted to arrest him, prosecute him,
- 12:54Speaker 2: do whatever they could to stop him. They looked through
- 12:56Speaker 2: the files. They couldn't find anything in there that would
- 13:00Speaker 2: That's why you never heard about the Epstein files for
- 13:03Speaker 2: the whole four years of Biden. There was nothing in
- 13:05Speaker 2: there that hurt Trump. And this is the way this
- 13:08Speaker 2: all works. Look at these democrats yelling and screaming, the
- 13:11Speaker 2: demanding we must see the Epstein files. Well, how come
- 13:15Speaker 2: you didn't say word for four years? How come you
- 13:18Speaker 2: didn't want to see him? In twenty twenty four. Why
- 13:20Speaker 2: didn't want to see him in twenty twenty three? How
- 13:22Speaker 2: come in twenty twenty two you never asked to see him?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Twenty twenty one, you never mentioned it. It's the same
- 13:29Speaker 2: thing with the media. You know, you hear about this
- 13:31Speaker 2: is the affordability crisis. Affordability crisis. Inflation under Biden hit
- 13:37Speaker 2: nine percent, It averaged five percent, but it hit nine percent.
- 13:42Speaker 2: None of these people, the same Democrats, the same media,
- 13:44Speaker 2: never mentioned affordability. It never came up for check for
- 13:48Speaker 2: four years, never mentioned it at nine percent. Now it's
- 13:52Speaker 2: two point five percent. That's all they can talk about,
- 13:55Speaker 2: the affordability crisis. Two point five percent. Try. Trump was
- 13:59Speaker 2: about Epstein last night.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They're using Jeffrey Epstein as a deflection from the tremendous
- 14:06Speaker 1: success that we're having as a party.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Actually, the Epstein's stuff, you could also call
- 14:12Speaker 2: it operation change the subject. That's what it's all about.
- 14:16Speaker 2: It sounds good, it sounds but again Trump has been
- 14:19Speaker 2: setting them up and brilliantly. Hey, President Trump said he
- 14:23Speaker 2: will meet with Mom Donnie. Mom Donnie said he will
- 14:25Speaker 2: meet with Trump. Looks like the meeting will take place
- 14:28Speaker 2: in Washington, d C. We'll get into it in detail
- 14:31Speaker 2: a little later. Also, Mom Donnie has talked with Jessica
- 14:37Speaker 2: Tish again. They spoke over the weekend. Hopefully she'll stay.
- 14:43Speaker 2: The fire commissioners great guy, Robert Tucker, he has already
- 14:46Speaker 2: quit and left, but he's got a huge business he
- 14:48Speaker 2: can go back to, and I don't think he wants
- 14:50Speaker 2: anything to do with Mom Donnie. Jessica Tish will see
- 14:52Speaker 2: if she stays. Well, there's a lot of Mom Donnie stuff.
- 14:56Speaker 2: We'll get into it a little later. Lots to talk
- 14:59Speaker 2: about and we'll take some next. Eight hundred three two
- 15:02Speaker 2: one zero seven ten is the number eight hundred three
- 15:07Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten.
- 15:09Speaker 1: If you're listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app, save
- 15:12Speaker 1: time and tap the preset button. Now. Now back to
- 15:15Speaker 1: the Mark Simone Show on wo r oh no.
- 15:19Speaker 2: There's more of that Christmas stuff. Well, you gotta be honest.
- 15:24Speaker 2: We have to admit next week at Thanksgiving. Next week
- 15:28Speaker 2: is Thanksgiving. Anyway, Let's take some calls. Let's go to
- 15:31Speaker 2: uh D in Miami. D How you.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Doing, Hello, Yes, good morning, sure, Yes, I have a
- 15:38Speaker 5: question I'd like to ask you, sir, Go ahead, What
- 15:40Speaker 5: do you think will happen if Africa was cut off
- 15:43Speaker 5: is uranium export to the United States in the Western world.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Well, that could affect my iPhone battery. That would be something.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Would be terrible. That's what I think. I think the
- 15:53Speaker 5: African county A you're gonna start, you know, to do
- 15:57Speaker 5: because if this man going to continue in this spot, what.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Are we talking about Trump? Of course, sir, oh well.
- 16:05Speaker 6: But also remember also remember for a minute, please no,
- 16:10Speaker 6: I also remember at the same time, it would be
- 16:13Speaker 6: the end of the African economy since that's what they
- 16:15Speaker 6: do for a living is sell us uranium and without
- 16:18Speaker 6: that they'd go broke pretty fast. So let's go to
- 16:21Speaker 6: Bob and newer Shelle. Bob, how you doing. Wait a minute, Bobby,
- 16:27Speaker 6: are there? Nope, we lost them. Let's uh, we got them.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I know you're a big Blue Bloods fan.
- 16:36Speaker 3: My wife's got me watching and I got a bit.
- 16:38Speaker 3: It's a good show, and I understand that you have
- 16:40Speaker 3: to suspend reality to a certain degree for these kind
- 16:42Speaker 3: of shows. But what would you in your opinion, would
- 16:44Speaker 3: you say a more unrealistic one of the Reagans being
- 16:47Speaker 3: involved in the biggest case of the city every week,
- 16:49Speaker 3: or Danny Reagan have nothing but smoking hot partners and
- 16:52Speaker 3: his wife not having a problem with it.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Well, these are very good questions. I love Blue Bloods.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I still watch it and reruns. Every Wednesday is a
- 16:59Speaker 2: blue Blood marathon. I'd love Blue Bloods. It's the most
- 17:03Speaker 2: unrealistic cop show ever. First of all, Len carry You
- 17:07Speaker 2: plays Tom Selick's father. These two guys are the same age.
- 17:12Speaker 2: There's like a one year age between these two guys.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Makes no sense at all. There's all kinds of technical
- 17:18Speaker 2: things like the police commissioner does not wear a uniform,
- 17:21Speaker 2: which Tom Sellick does at times in the show. Also,
- 17:24Speaker 2: Danny Reagan every week is involved in a massive gunfire,
- 17:30Speaker 2: massive shootout every week. I've asked three commissioners has there
- 17:35Speaker 2: ever been a cop that's in a shootout every week?
- 17:38Speaker 2: And they all said if there was, I'd pull him
- 17:40Speaker 2: off the street immediately. We'd never be able to do that. Also, well,
- 17:45Speaker 2: we could go on and on. It's very unrealistic, but
- 17:48Speaker 2: despite that, it's a great show. You know, Like, if
- 17:50Speaker 2: you want to go back and watch NYPD Blue, NYPD
- 17:53Speaker 2: Blue is probably the most realistic cop show. And I
- 17:56Speaker 2: started watching Boston Blue, the spin off with Danny Reagan.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I gotta admit it's pretty good. They it's it's very,
- 18:03Speaker 2: very different from Blue Bloods. They've kept a couple of
- 18:06Speaker 2: factors there, a couple of little things, but it's very
- 18:09Speaker 2: different and it's a great show. Let's go to Mike
- 18:12Speaker 2: and Florida.
- 18:12Speaker 7: Mike, how you doing, good morning, Mark, Yes, Mike, I
- 18:17Speaker 7: was laughing when you were talking about that Florida h
- 18:20Speaker 7: O Way that was putting up the that's crackdown on
- 18:23Speaker 7: the Christmas decorations. I live in one of these so
- 18:26Speaker 7: called active fifty five communities and it's either over just
- 18:31Speaker 7: over fifty five or active unless you consider majong a
- 18:33Speaker 7: contact sport. But they can't wait and put up those
- 18:37Speaker 7: stinking Christmas decorations. The irony is they're all asleep by
- 18:42Speaker 7: six o'clock that they don't even get to see the
- 18:44Speaker 7: lights lit up. And they're the most decrepit looking things
- 18:48Speaker 7: that they've been in the back of their garage. You
- 18:50Speaker 7: know that they lived in Michigan and they dragged down
- 18:53Speaker 7: here and I'm gonna put you know, and they're follow
- 18:55Speaker 7: liying like there's little kids around, and it's it's so
- 18:58Speaker 7: pathetic against Christmas. It's great, but it's the forced joy
- 19:04Speaker 7: is like ludicrous. You can't wait to put them up.
- 19:07Speaker 2: There's a lot of pathetic things about Florida. The most
- 19:09Speaker 2: pathetic is when you people in Florida try to celebrate Christmas.
- 19:12Speaker 2: It doesn't look right. Palm trees and Christmas don't go together.
- 19:15Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 19:17Speaker 7: It's eighty five degrees and if allow lie, yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It doesn't work all right, Mike, thanks for calling. You know,
- 19:23Speaker 2: it's better to live in one of these condo communities
- 19:25Speaker 2: or something like that, because, uh, you know, everything's taken
- 19:29Speaker 2: care of. You've got your own house, you got to
- 19:31Speaker 2: find your own plumber, you got to find your own
- 19:33Speaker 2: people to fix it. It's so much easier in a condo,
- 19:36Speaker 2: one of those complexes, one of those communities. But then
- 19:40Speaker 2: you got the board. You know, it's always little old
- 19:42Speaker 2: ladies with nothing to do who go on this board
- 19:45Speaker 2: and then run around on patrol enforcing every little rule.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Let's go to Dave in Chicago.
- 19:51Speaker 8: Dave, how you doing, good morning, Mark, I'm joining very well,
- 19:54Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Mark.
- 19:55Speaker 8: I'm just beginning to read Love Johnny Carson by Mark Malcolm.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Oh, it's the definitive book on Johnny Carson. It's the
- 20:03Speaker 2: greatest book ever in Johnny Carson just came out. We'll
- 20:06Speaker 2: have the author on in the next hour. Go ahead,
- 20:09Speaker 2: thank you.
- 20:10Speaker 8: I noticed you've been quoted numerous times in the book.
- 20:14Speaker 8: I flipped through it quickly. But I have a question,
- 20:17Speaker 8: if I may. It says you had said that the
- 20:20Speaker 8: Midwest is very important to the Tonight Show and that's
- 20:23Speaker 8: what Johnny believes. Could you please explain? And lastly, Mark,
- 20:28Speaker 8: my second question is did Johnny's guest hosts follow that policy?
- 20:33Speaker 7: Well?
- 20:34Speaker 2: A couple of things about the Midwest. One a great analyst,
- 20:38Speaker 2: show business analyst showed that all the great talk show
- 20:42Speaker 2: hosts were from the Midwest, Johnny Carson, David Letterman, all
- 20:48Speaker 2: these sorts. You could go down the whole list. But
- 20:52Speaker 2: the guests, we're all from New York. All the great
- 20:55Speaker 2: comedians are from Brooklyn or you know, New Jersey, or
- 20:58Speaker 2: they were all local New York. But in their own
- 21:02Speaker 2: city they couldn't be the host. It was always the Midwesterner.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They had to be the host of the show. And
- 21:08Speaker 2: Johnny Carson, one of the valuable lessons he taught people,
- 21:10Speaker 2: he told me about this. He always taught this lesson
- 21:14Speaker 2: the battle is won in the Central time zone. It's
- 21:17Speaker 2: a very important rule. Don't try to appeal to like
- 21:19Speaker 2: elite New York or La or Beverly Hills. Always try
- 21:23Speaker 2: to appeal to the middle. And hey, we don't have
- 21:26Speaker 2: much time, but let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent,
- 21:28Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 21:30Speaker 9: I'm doing good, mak good morning matter Mark. I hope
- 21:33Speaker 9: us Jessicatish does not take the job with Zora Mundani
- 21:39Speaker 9: finish out her term. She's doing a great job. She
- 21:43Speaker 9: does have a business to go back to. And let
- 21:46Speaker 9: Zora Mandani's diz that were on his political posts. He
- 21:52Speaker 9: just had his first name, zorn. Well, let the letter
- 21:55Speaker 9: z become the new scholet letter. Let him hang by
- 22:00Speaker 9: his own pitad. And another thing, Kathy Hkle is thinking
- 22:04Speaker 9: about flip flopping on the corporate taxes so Mandamie could
- 22:08Speaker 9: have his free daycare. Don't do it, stupid, Hoco. You
- 22:13Speaker 9: could attract Jersey business to New York. They're paying eleven
- 22:18Speaker 9: point nine, we're charging seven point nine. If she had
- 22:22Speaker 9: any sense of any brains in her head, she could
- 22:26Speaker 9: use that as a selling point to draw the corporate
- 22:31Speaker 9: headquary brains.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It's backbones. She has no backbone. She's afraid of getting primary.
- 22:36Speaker 9: Well, that's what Michael Goodwin's article talked about. She doesn't
- 22:40Speaker 9: have any backbone. But please, mistache, do not take the job.
- 22:45Speaker 9: Let it go to Let let disease for Zoran become
- 22:49Speaker 9: the new Scarlet letter. You like Trump business, when you plan,
- 22:54Speaker 9: you come back and then you could wipe the floor
- 22:57Speaker 9: with him.
- 22:57Speaker 2: All right, Vincent, great call, Hey, when we come back.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Michael Goodman's not here this week, but we'll talk to
- 23:02Speaker 2: the brilliant calumnist Liz Peak. We'll talk about Mom Donnie
- 23:05Speaker 2: and hoakl and all that next on seven to ten WR.
- 23:10Speaker 1: He's more Mark, He's so Mark Simone show on SEVENTENR.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Well Liz Peak brilliant column list, you know, besides her column,
- 23:21Speaker 2: besides all the TV. You can also check out her websites.
- 23:25Speaker 2: One of the best news sites with all sorts of
- 23:26Speaker 2: great stories every day. Lizpeak dot com, lizpeak dot com.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Check it out, Liz Peak.
- 23:33Speaker 10: How you doing, good morning, I'm terrific. Thank you. How
- 23:37Speaker 10: about you?
- 23:38Speaker 2: I'm good. Let's see President Trump says he will meet
- 23:41Speaker 2: with Mom Donnie. Mom Donnie says he'll go to Washington
- 23:44Speaker 2: meet with him. How do you think that would go.
- 23:48Speaker 11: Look, I think that's actually a good idea on both
- 23:50Speaker 11: of their parts.
- 23:51Speaker 10: To have New York City basically.
- 23:54Speaker 11: Be orphaned or estranged from the mothership, the federal mothership doesn't.
- 23:59Speaker 10: Really help anybody, right.
- 24:02Speaker 11: I can't imagine that mom, Donnie and Donald Trump will
- 24:05Speaker 11: have much in common or much common ground, let's put
- 24:08Speaker 11: it that way.
- 24:10Speaker 10: But I think it's a good idea.
- 24:12Speaker 11: And look, it's one of the first things that this
- 24:16Speaker 11: radical thirty four year old anti Semite has said. That
- 24:21Speaker 11: makes them sound like a slightly normal person. So that's
- 24:24Speaker 11: very welcome.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, they do have something in common. They're both
- 24:28Speaker 2: were these outsiders who came in and just crushed these
- 24:32Speaker 2: political dynasties and beat them. Do you think you know
- 24:35Speaker 2: Trump could be good one on one sometimes?
- 24:38Speaker 10: Yes he can, Yes he can.
- 24:40Speaker 11: But Mark, yes, I've seen this idea before that they
- 24:43Speaker 11: have in common that they're outsiders.
- 24:45Speaker 10: Let's remember that Donald.
- 24:46Speaker 11: Trump had decades of actual work experience, actually built things,
- 24:52Speaker 11: created wealth, and in the process, let's face that, worked
- 24:57Speaker 11: with a lot of city governments and municips and state
- 25:01Speaker 11: governments in trying to get various projects underway, get them completed,
- 25:06Speaker 11: et cetera. Mam Donnie has zero experience of any value whatsoever.
- 25:11Speaker 11: All he has is a big smile and you know,
- 25:15Speaker 11: a resume as a community activist.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I don't put.
- 25:18Speaker 10: Them in the same boat at all.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, no, it sounds perfect. You know, there's
- 25:24Speaker 2: a lot of other mom Donni's out there getting ready
- 25:26Speaker 2: to go. And there's a couple of other cities where
- 25:28Speaker 2: they got a Mom Donnie type, somebody with no work experience,
- 25:32Speaker 2: lives in their parents' basement running and Bill Mahra so
- 25:35Speaker 2: a Friday night, is warning the Democrats stop with this stuff.
- 25:38Speaker 2: But where are the elder Democrats, the party elders, where
- 25:42Speaker 2: are they on this?
- 25:43Speaker 10: It's it's astounding, isn't it. You know.
- 25:46Speaker 11: We had Julian Epstein on the Democrats strategists this morning
- 25:51Speaker 11: on Mornings with Maria and as he said, Trump occupies
- 25:55Speaker 11: the middle. Now that's what that's what's making Democrats crazy.
- 25:59Speaker 11: That is why they have gone so far to the left.
- 26:02Speaker 11: And I've said this for months.
- 26:03Speaker 12: I mean, if Trump is in the middle on.
- 26:07Speaker 11: Taxes, regulation, energy policy, immigration, gender issues, et.
- 26:12Speaker 12: Cetera, where does that leave the Democrats?
- 26:15Speaker 11: It either leaves them basically working with Trump, which they
- 26:19Speaker 11: refuse to do because they've conjured up such hatred of
- 26:23Speaker 11: this president that they cannot be seen as.
- 26:26Speaker 10: Collaborators, if you will, Or.
- 26:28Speaker 11: It drives some extreme left policies, which again, and that's
- 26:34Speaker 11: what I've stein said too. It may work in New York,
- 26:37Speaker 11: it may work in Seattle or San Francisco, They're not
- 26:41Speaker 11: going to work in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, these states where Frankly,
- 26:46Speaker 11: house seats are up for grabs in purple districts. I mean,
- 26:51Speaker 11: are they really in those parts of the country, Are
- 26:53Speaker 11: they going to want to elect a socialist?
- 26:55Speaker 10: I don't think so.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Even in Kathy Hokel, she'said, you'd assume she's the
- 27:04Speaker 2: middle of the road type, and she's the governor that's
- 27:07Speaker 2: bigger than the mayor. How does she get so intimidated
- 27:09Speaker 2: by this Ma'm donnie that she seems to want to
- 27:11Speaker 2: go along with his nonsense.
- 27:12Speaker 10: It's it's just it's not just Kathy Hokeel.
- 27:15Speaker 11: It's every New York Democrat right now is being primaried
- 27:20Speaker 11: by someone on the left, and that includes Kathy Hochele,
- 27:23Speaker 11: her lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, who no one's ever heard of.
- 27:28Speaker 11: May end up giving her a real fight because Mam
- 27:32Speaker 11: Donnie likes him. They've you know, they've been campaigning together,
- 27:36Speaker 11: and he's far left, like Mam Donnie. Kathy Hochel is
- 27:40Speaker 11: in a terrible position because idiotically she gave von Donnie
- 27:44Speaker 11: her endorsement, so she basically alienated all moderate Democrats in
- 27:48Speaker 11: her party. And now if she basically says, well, I
- 27:52Speaker 11: endorsed him, but I'm not going to really go along
- 27:55Speaker 11: with any of.
- 27:55Speaker 12: His program, what does that make her out to be?
- 27:58Speaker 10: What makes her out to.
- 27:59Speaker 11: Be a completely insincere political animal, which is exactly what
- 28:04Speaker 11: she is, So she will blow with the wind.
- 28:08Speaker 10: She is a terrible governor, and.
- 28:10Speaker 12: Frankly, I think Eliephonic.
- 28:12Speaker 11: Has a very good chance of beating her if she's
- 28:14Speaker 11: the candidate.
- 28:16Speaker 12: I'm not sure she will be the candidate, but we'll see.
- 28:18Speaker 10: I mean, she doesn't.
- 28:21Speaker 11: Have a backbone mark and right now you need some
- 28:24Speaker 11: senior Democrats with backbones who are moderates, who can call
- 28:28Speaker 11: out a socialist for being bad for the.
- 28:30Speaker 12: Country, frankly, like Bill Maher's doing.
- 28:33Speaker 8: I mean, who would have funk it.
- 28:34Speaker 11: He's the guy that's saying to a pretty big audience,
- 28:38Speaker 11: socialism doesn't work.
- 28:39Speaker 13: This is what he just said over the.
- 28:40Speaker 11: Weekend, I guess or Friday. Socialism doesn't work. It has
- 28:44Speaker 11: failed every place that's been tried. Look at Venezuela, formerly
- 28:49Speaker 11: one of the richest countries on Earth, now one of
- 28:51Speaker 11: the poorest in South America. You know, just common sense, folks,
- 28:56Speaker 11: and history things that apparently are not in great support
- 29:00Speaker 11: on the left.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Right. Now, Hey, Liz Pick, if you're watching the Sunday shows,
- 29:04Speaker 2: oh you hear about is this affordability crisis? What an
- 29:07Speaker 2: affordability crisis? How come during Biden when inflation was nine percent,
- 29:11Speaker 2: never heard a word about this affordability crisis? Why? Now?
- 29:15Speaker 10: Yeah, it's rich, isn't it.
- 29:17Speaker 11: I think Democrats fastened on this only after Mom Donnie
- 29:21Speaker 11: did so kudos to him for giving them sort of
- 29:24Speaker 11: a lifeline here. And yeah, things are expensive, mainly because
- 29:28Speaker 11: they went up eighty seven percent of the increase in
- 29:31Speaker 11: prices over the last five years came under Joe Biden.
- 29:34Speaker 11: And yet to your point, that was mostly ignored by
- 29:37Speaker 11: the mainstream media.
- 29:39Speaker 10: But it is pretty rich.
- 29:40Speaker 11: Because if you look at the top ten cities in
- 29:44Speaker 11: terms of cost of living. They are all run and
- 29:47Speaker 11: have been run for decades by Democrats. Democrats brand mark
- 29:52Speaker 11: is high cost, high taxes, high regulatory burdens, high union
- 29:57Speaker 11: labor costs.
- 29:58Speaker 10: You name it.
- 29:59Speaker 11: They are imposing enormously high costs on the general public
- 30:04Speaker 11: and have for a decade or more. And then you
- 30:07Speaker 11: add on to this layer of green energy, which.
- 30:10Speaker 12: Is also expensive, and you know, you have a.
- 30:14Speaker 11: Recipe for extremely inflated cost of living and to try
- 30:19Speaker 11: and tag that on Republicans where we are talking lower taxes,
- 30:23Speaker 11: lower regulation, fewer impediments to building, which by the way,
- 30:28Speaker 11: means better building costs because time.
- 30:30Speaker 10: Is money and construction.
- 30:32Speaker 11: You know, it is just astounding that they have been
- 30:36Speaker 11: able to hijack this issue.
- 30:38Speaker 10: We can't let that stand.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Very good point. Yeah, the affordability crisis seems to only
- 30:43Speaker 2: be taking place in blue cities and states. So yeah, well, yes,
- 30:47Speaker 2: everybody watched this Peak on TV reader columns and I
- 30:50Speaker 2: love the website every day lizpeak dot com. Thank you
- 30:54Speaker 2: and great stories. Can people just go sign up and

- 31:45Speaker 2: now at nine Jimmy Fayla. It's a great show, great guess,
- 31:49Speaker 2: very funny show, Jimmy Fayla every night at nine on
- 31:51Speaker 2: seven ten Wrry. We'll get to Johnny Carson in the
- 32:01Speaker 2: next hour. We'll get the crazy hunter Biden sounding off,
- 32:05Speaker 2: going nuts. We'll get to let's talk about in the

- 32:18Speaker 2: the podcast and hear it anytime you want, day or night,
- 32:21Speaker 2: wherever you get your podcasts back right after the news
- 32:25Speaker 2: on seven to ten.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Wo Let's get back to the Mark Simone Show on WOR.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Hello.
- 32:34Speaker 2: We'll get to Johnny Carson a little later this hour,
- 32:37Speaker 2: we'll get to Bill Ackman, Mom, Donnie Well. He spoke
- 32:43Speaker 2: with Jessica Tish again over the weekend. I guess that's
- 32:47Speaker 2: a good sign that they're talking. Hopefully she stays. You
- 32:52Speaker 2: got right now. Eric Adams is away. He's been in Israel.
- 32:56Speaker 2: He had this terrible shooting, a police officer shot in Brooklyn.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Little crisis occurring. And the good news is you got
- 33:04Speaker 2: Randy Mastro as the first deputy mayor. He was Rudy
- 33:07Speaker 2: Giuliani's first deputy mayor. If you like the way that
- 33:10Speaker 2: Juliani administration ran, then you like Randy Mastro. And about
- 33:14Speaker 2: a year ago Eric Adams put him in charge of
- 33:17Speaker 2: city Hall. He's the first deputy mayor. So even with
- 33:19Speaker 2: Adams away, Randy Mastro ran to the hospital to be
- 33:23Speaker 2: with the officer and handle the situation. Police Commissioner Jessica
- 33:27Speaker 2: Tish is there. But when you got Mastro, things that are
- 33:33Speaker 2: under control. That's why things have been so good for
- 33:35Speaker 2: the past year. Now, what happens when Mamdani comes in, Well,
- 33:39Speaker 2: that first deputy mayor will be Dean Fulahan, who comes
- 33:44Speaker 2: from the Deblasio administration. He was Deblasio's chief of staff,
- 33:49Speaker 2: first deputy mayor in other words, first deputy mayor. So
- 33:52Speaker 2: it's going to look a lot like a Deblasio administration,
- 33:55Speaker 2: which was bad, but we got through it. We got
- 33:59Speaker 2: through it. We got through eight years of the Blasio.
- 34:01Speaker 2: We probably won't have to get through that much of
- 34:05Speaker 2: Mom Donnie. It probably is. I mean it's four years,
- 34:08Speaker 2: but it might. It could just be one year. You
- 34:09Speaker 2: might get a governor next year who removes him if
- 34:12Speaker 2: things aren't going well. Now, Donald Trump said he'll meet
- 34:17Speaker 2: with Mom. Donnie said New York is important. He'll meet
- 34:20Speaker 2: with him, He'll talk to him. Mom. Donnie was asked
- 34:22Speaker 2: about meeting with Trump.
- 34:23Speaker 14: I look forward to having a conversation with President Trump
- 34:25Speaker 14: because it's one where I'll make clear if he wants
- 34:28Speaker 14: to work together to deliver on his campaign promises of
- 34:30Speaker 14: cheaper groceries or a lower cost of living. I am
- 34:33Speaker 14: there and I am ready to go. But if he
- 34:34Speaker 14: wants to talk about pursuing a campaign agenda that comes
- 34:37Speaker 14: to the expense of New Yorkers, that is something that
- 34:39Speaker 14: I will find.
- 34:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Well, so what will Trump do when he meets with him. Well,
- 34:46Speaker 2: maybe he'll get through to him on a couple of things. First,
- 34:48Speaker 2: the most important thing is crime. If you convince him,
- 34:51Speaker 2: he's got to get a real police commissioner and he's
- 34:53Speaker 2: got to really take care of crime. Mom Donnie has
- 34:57Speaker 2: said he doesn't want to hire five thousand more cops.
- 35:00Speaker 2: The problem is will he with with you know, withdraw
- 35:03Speaker 2: cops from a lot of situations not enforced certain things.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Then that's what t Blasio basically did. Things started to
- 35:10Speaker 2: get out of control. So that's a problem. But hopefully
- 35:15Speaker 2: Trump gets through to him on that kind of stuff. Now, personally, well,
- 35:20Speaker 2: they got some things in common. Mom Donnie was a
- 35:23Speaker 2: little trump like in his campaign and that he was
- 35:26Speaker 2: the total outsider up against these big political machines. And
- 35:30Speaker 2: Trump's case, he was up against the Clinton machine. Mom
- 35:33Speaker 2: Donnie was up against the Cuomo machine, and he defeated him.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So they got that and they've got something in common. Now.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Trump is good at winning people over in private. People
- 35:47Speaker 2: are always surprised in private what a nice man he is,
- 35:50Speaker 2: well how he relates to people. He's an incredibly good listener.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It's beyond listening. He looks at you, like with radar
- 35:56Speaker 2: and sonar and knows exactly what you're saying. And he's
- 36:01Speaker 2: really good at handling people. But generally the people he
- 36:04Speaker 2: handles are like him. They're big, successful business people. They're
- 36:09Speaker 2: CEOs or bank presidents, or they're substantial people. That's where
- 36:13Speaker 2: he does best. But he's also been good with the weirdo,
- 36:17Speaker 2: oddball kookie types, you know, Kim Jong un and others.
- 36:22Speaker 2: He was able to win him over and calm him down.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Zelenski got off to a bad start, but eventually he
- 36:27Speaker 2: developed a good relationship. So we'll see what he can
- 36:30Speaker 2: do with Mom Donnie if he can get through to him.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Mom Donnie is talking to Tish. He did a Sunday
- 36:38Speaker 2: show where he was asked about keeping her. Will she
- 36:40Speaker 2: stay in that office?
- 36:42Speaker 14: I continue to be confident in my decision, but as
- 36:43Speaker 14: soon as there's a public announcement to be made, we'll
- 36:45Speaker 14: be sure.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Of does she say, I got to think about this.
- 36:49Speaker 14: More of the conversation, frankly, had to do with what
- 36:51Speaker 14: it looks like to deliver that public safe.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Now, he is a genius at double talk. You know,
- 36:56Speaker 2: Kamala would do this word salad and was pretty obvious
- 36:59Speaker 2: you know what she was talking about, just like a
- 37:01Speaker 2: babbling yo yo. But mom, donnie, the double talk is
- 37:07Speaker 2: very good.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Now.
- 37:08Speaker 2: What did he just say? He was asked her, are
- 37:09Speaker 2: you going to keep her? Did he give a yes
- 37:12Speaker 2: or no? Will she stay in that office?
- 37:14Speaker 14: I continue to be confident in my decision.
- 37:16Speaker 2: But okay, think of it.
- 37:17Speaker 15: It.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I continue to be confident in my decision. What does
- 37:21Speaker 2: that mean I continue? You could just say, well, my
- 37:26Speaker 2: decision is to keep her, But he says I'm confident
- 37:31Speaker 2: in my decision. That adds an element to it. Then
- 37:34Speaker 2: he adds a third layer. I continue to be confident
- 37:37Speaker 2: in my decision. Now he just said three things without
- 37:40Speaker 2: saying anything. Will she stay in that office?
- 37:42Speaker 14: I continue to be confident in my decision. But as
- 37:44Speaker 14: soon as there's a public announcement to be made, we'll
- 37:46Speaker 14: be Does she.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Say, as soon as there's a public announcement to be made,
- 37:50Speaker 2: we'll be sure to share it. Well, obviously, if it's
- 37:53Speaker 2: a public announcement, you'll share it. He was asked about Putin.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I don't know what Putin has to do anything.
- 38:00Speaker 14: This is a city of international law, and being a
- 38:02Speaker 14: city of international law means looking to uphold international law,
- 38:05Speaker 14: and that means upholding the warrants from the International Criminal Court,
- 38:08Speaker 14: whether they're for Benjamin Netna or Vladimir Putin. I think
- 38:11Speaker 14: that that's critically important to showcase our values. And unlike
- 38:14Speaker 14: Donald Trump, I'm someone who looks to exist within the
- 38:16Speaker 14: confines of the laws that we have, so I will
- 38:18Speaker 14: look to exhaust every legal possibility, not to create my
- 38:21Speaker 14: own laws.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Now, I guess they're talking about arresting Putin if he
- 38:24Speaker 2: comes to town, or arresting thatt Ya who know, No,
- 38:25Speaker 2: he's again, this is all double tok.
- 38:28Speaker 14: I believe this is a city of international law.
- 38:30Speaker 2: First all, it's not. It's not a city of international law.
- 38:32Speaker 2: We don't use international law here. We don't even recognize
- 38:34Speaker 2: it here in New York City. And if he ever
- 38:36Speaker 2: tries this, he'll be taken to court and lose immediately.
- 38:40Speaker 2: It's a city of city, state and US law. We
- 38:43Speaker 2: don't acknowledge international law. By the way, that court that
- 38:47Speaker 2: put out the indictment against Nataneo is not recognized as
- 38:50Speaker 2: any sort of a legitimate court. It's the World Court
- 38:53Speaker 2: of whatever, but we don't even recognize it. So he's
- 38:56Speaker 2: absolutely wrong. He's threatened net Ya, who's supposed to come
- 38:59Speaker 2: here next year for that annual UN summit. He'll speak
- 39:03Speaker 2: at that as he always does, will ma'mdani attempt to
- 39:06Speaker 2: arrest him.
- 39:06Speaker 14: We are a global city, But I also think what
- 39:08Speaker 14: New Yorkers are looking for is consistency in the way
- 39:11Speaker 14: in which we talk about our values and follow through
- 39:12Speaker 14: on them. And that's why I think these warrants from
- 39:14Speaker 14: the International Criminal Court they are worth fully exploring every
- 39:17Speaker 14: legal possibility to actually follow through on.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Again, the World Criminal Court not recognized by anybody, it's
- 39:22Speaker 2: just a joke. If he does come to New York,
- 39:24Speaker 2: President Trump has said he will have him escorted by
- 39:27Speaker 2: military federal troops FBI, he will protect him from being arrested.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Alan Dershwitz said he will stand by his side the
- 39:34Speaker 2: entire visit to New York and be his lawyer. What
- 39:38Speaker 2: about Trump setting in the National Guard and so.
- 39:40Speaker 14: We will have a unified front myself, the Governor of
- 39:42Speaker 14: the Attorney General, in showcasing that any attempts to deploy
- 39:46Speaker 14: the National Guard here in New York City, it's not
- 39:48Speaker 14: an attack on an individual politician like myself.
- 39:51Speaker 4: It's an attack on the city.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Now, a unified front. Think of this army, so we will.
- 39:55Speaker 14: Have a unified front. Myself, the governor of the Attorney General.
- 39:58Speaker 2: All right, now, myself, he's like a dumb kid, a
- 40:01Speaker 2: thirty four year old kid. The governor is a total
- 40:03Speaker 2: coward who runs and hides it the sign of any trouble.
- 40:07Speaker 2: The Attorney General is a slee's ball who's under indictment,
- 40:11Speaker 2: who may be in jail by the time this even
- 40:13Speaker 2: comes up. Let me see there a better arrest.
- 40:17Speaker 14: I've said time and again this is a city of
- 40:19Speaker 14: international same thing.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Well here he's on.
- 40:22Speaker 14: I've also said that if there are additional or alternate
- 40:24Speaker 14: revenue sources that would pay for the same things.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he wants to do these free buses. He has
- 40:29Speaker 2: no power to make the buses free. The Mayor of
- 40:32Speaker 2: New York has no control over the buses. It's all state.
- 40:34Speaker 2: It's the MTA that runs them. And Hochel has said
- 40:37Speaker 2: you can't make the buses free, can't take be a
- 40:40Speaker 2: massive loss of revenue, so he'd have to come up
- 40:42Speaker 2: with some other revenue.
- 40:43Speaker 14: I've also said that if there are additional or alternate
- 40:46Speaker 14: revenue sources that would pay for the same things, we
- 40:48Speaker 14: would embrace them by all means, because the most important
- 40:50Speaker 14: thing is funding these things. And I think with the
- 40:53Speaker 14: governor there's a clear alignment of the importance of delivering
- 40:56Speaker 14: on universal childcare and on affordability agenda. How the work
- 41:00Speaker 14: begins even before we've been sworn in on lining out when, how,
- 41:04Speaker 14: but we always know it's for who, which is New Yorkers.
- 41:07Speaker 2: See, if you're not saying anything, if you're not going
- 41:09Speaker 2: to answer, if you're going to double talk, the secret
- 41:10Speaker 2: is to do it fast. If you said, well, I
- 41:14Speaker 2: I don't you know, it sounds like you're not answering.
- 41:17Speaker 2: But if you talk very quickly and you're not really answering,
- 41:19Speaker 2: and you said, well, it's a matter of how, when
- 41:20Speaker 2: and high, and if you took it a mile a
- 41:22Speaker 2: minute your salad, you know what you're talking about, even
- 41:25Speaker 2: if you don't. But we'll see this is not going
- 41:30Speaker 2: to be easy getting through mom, Donnie. But but we
- 41:34Speaker 2: got through Deblasio. It was pretty much the same thing.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Deblasio thought socialism was better. Deblasio same thing with the affordability.
- 41:41Speaker 2: But remember Deblasio's whole campaign was about two New York's.
- 41:44Speaker 2: There's two New York's, one for the rich, one for so.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Now.
- 41:50Speaker 2: The only difference is Diplasio didn't really hate all those
- 41:54Speaker 2: rich people. In fact, he did them favor after whatever
- 41:57Speaker 2: they needed, he did.
- 41:57Speaker 4: It for him.
- 41:58Speaker 2: So I don't know about my I don't know if
- 42:00Speaker 2: he's that bribeable or that persuadable. But we'll see. He's
- 42:06Speaker 2: got a team in place. He's got a bunch of
- 42:09Speaker 2: people that are on the transition team. He has one
- 42:13Speaker 2: guy and the transition team just got caught with the
- 42:15Speaker 2: most horrible antisemitic remarks. But listen, that's no shock. This
- 42:21Speaker 2: is what you expect from these Mom Donnie people. You
- 42:24Speaker 2: got a little of that from the Doblasio team as well. Now,
- 42:28Speaker 2: another thing is this transition team of Mom Donnie's has
- 42:30Speaker 2: been raising money and apparently they're up to about a
- 42:33Speaker 2: million dollars already. They've raised about one million dollars now.
- 42:38Speaker 2: They say it's a smaller donations average donation is seventy
- 42:42Speaker 2: five dollars. But that's a lot of money. What do
- 42:45Speaker 2: they do with the transition money? Who knows? They pay
- 42:47Speaker 2: for themselves. They just spend it on themselves. It's kind
- 42:51Speaker 2: of ridiculous, but good for mom, Donnie. Yeah, the donation came.
- 42:57Speaker 2: The money came from seven thousand donors, averaging seventy three
- 43:01Speaker 2: dollars per donor. So the other people on he got
- 43:06Speaker 2: Elena Leopold, she's the director. The whole transition team is female.
- 43:12Speaker 2: I don't know what that means, but she's she's pretty bad.
- 43:18Speaker 2: They got Lena Kahan, who's co chair of the transition team.
- 43:23Speaker 2: She was a longtime Obama Biden person. She's known for
- 43:27Speaker 2: her tough anti trust stance, in other words, harassing businesses.
- 43:32Speaker 2: She has a history of going after major companies and
- 43:35Speaker 2: trying to bust them up anti trust. So that's not good.
- 43:41Speaker 2: The transition team says more than fifty thousand people five
- 43:45Speaker 2: zero fifty thousand candidates have applied to work for his administration.
- 43:51Speaker 2: They have one of those resume portals. They've gotten fifty
- 43:53Speaker 2: thousand applications. They'll be going through fifty thousand. Well, that's
- 43:57Speaker 2: way they got like six weeks to get to get
- 43:59Speaker 2: through this, and we'll see Bill Maher on Friday night begging,
- 44:04Speaker 2: begging Democrats to get away from this socialism, this nonsense.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Mars said, did you watch his victory speech. Well, if
- 44:13Speaker 2: you didn't see it, he said, don't worry, you're going
- 44:15Speaker 2: to see it in every attack ad for the next
- 44:17Speaker 2: two years. Republicans will be using that, Mam Donnie's speech
- 44:21Speaker 2: in every campaign ad against the Democrats. He said, Democratic
- 44:25Speaker 2: socialism is like a dating profile. Looks great until you
- 44:29Speaker 2: actually meet up in the real world. You know, Bernie Sanders,
- 44:32Speaker 2: his single pair of healthcare sounded great, but it totally
- 44:36Speaker 2: collapsed when you try it. He did it in Vermont.
- 44:38Speaker 2: It totally collapsed, Bernie AOC, Mam Donnie. They're not Democrats.
- 44:43Speaker 2: They'll be the first to tell you they're democratic socialists.
- 44:46Speaker 2: It's a different thing, and Democrats should stay the hell
- 44:49Speaker 2: away from it. Hunter Biden goes nuts on this podcast,
- 44:54Speaker 2: ranting and raving and yelling and screaming, he's really met me.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Miranda Devine wrote the definitive book about the laptop and
- 45:03Speaker 2: about the Big Guy and the Biden corruptions. He really
- 45:06Speaker 2: went after her. He called her ugly, hideous looking a whore.
- 45:10Speaker 2: This is Hunter Biden's worse. Obviously, she's a very fine
- 45:13Speaker 2: person and very attractive. You know, you can call people ugly,
- 45:17Speaker 2: but when they're making a living on television, people looking
- 45:20Speaker 2: at close ups of their face, I don't think nobody's
- 45:23Speaker 2: going to buy that they're so ugly. But it's a
- 45:26Speaker 2: good it's a compliment to Miranda that he couldn't find
- 45:30Speaker 2: anything wrong in the book to point out, he couldn't
- 45:32Speaker 2: be specific about anything she got wrong, and he couldn't
- 45:35Speaker 2: find any legitimate attack on her, so he had to
- 45:38Speaker 2: just go nuts. He also said Democrats need to turn
- 45:42Speaker 2: the temperature up. Turn the temperature up. How could they
- 45:46Speaker 2: get any angrier than they already are? How could they
- 45:50Speaker 2: get any matter? How could they yell and scream about
- 45:52Speaker 2: Trump anymore? How could they have more Trump Arrangement syndrome
- 45:55Speaker 2: than they have now? So yeah, socialism, listen, it's failed
- 45:59Speaker 2: everywhere trying socialism. That there'd be like betting on the
- 46:03Speaker 2: New York Jets to win. It's not a good idea.
- 46:06Speaker 2: It's never going to happen. Hey, Bill Ackman, the hedge
- 46:09Speaker 2: fund billionaire's a nice guy. Bill Ackman so he posted
- 46:14Speaker 2: something he's a little too busy on Twitter and all
- 46:16Speaker 2: that stuff. But he said, I hear from many young
- 46:19Speaker 2: men they find it difficult to meet young women in
- 46:21Speaker 2: a public setting. You know, younger younger people are so
- 46:25Speaker 2: busy on online meeting. You know, they go to online
- 46:28Speaker 2: dating apps and that's how they meet that. They have
- 46:31Speaker 2: no idea how you could meet somebody in person. So
- 46:33Speaker 2: he said, young men are always asking me they have
- 46:35Speaker 2: so much trouble meeting in person. I thought I would
- 46:37Speaker 2: share a few words that I used in my youth
- 46:40Speaker 2: to meet someone that I found compelling. So Ackman goes
- 46:43Speaker 2: on to say if he wanted to meet somebody, he
- 46:44Speaker 2: would walk up to her and say may I meet
- 46:49Speaker 2: you before engaging further in conversation. He says, I almost
- 46:54Speaker 2: never got to know it inevitably worked, He said, I
- 46:59Speaker 2: think the combination a proper grammar and politeness was the
- 47:02Speaker 2: key to its effectiveness. Give it a try, may I
- 47:06Speaker 2: meet you? Well? Well, the way this turned out, Ackman
- 47:10Speaker 2: has been ridiculed all weekend online. He's getting just tarred
- 47:16Speaker 2: and feathered online. In fact, all you see are may
- 47:18Speaker 2: I meet you memes, just ridiculing poor Bill Ackman. It's
- 47:24Speaker 2: actually he's got a good point there. May I meet you? Yeah,
- 47:30Speaker 2: I kind of get it. I mean he's got a
- 47:32Speaker 2: point there. But politeness, most guys aren't very polite or gentlemanly.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Just be very polite, proper grammar that can be very
- 47:40Speaker 2: I don't know if i'd go and would you say
- 47:42Speaker 2: that to somebody? He says. It's not just dating. He
- 47:46Speaker 2: uses it in business situations.
- 47:48Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Let me go out in the hall and try this
- 47:50Speaker 2: to somebody. May I meet you?
- 47:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:54Speaker 2: It sounds pretty lame to me. It sounds very lame.
- 47:58Speaker 2: But Akman getting trashed all over the place for it. Hey,
- 48:01Speaker 2: we'll take some calls in a minute. We'll get to
- 48:02Speaker 2: Johnny Carson coming up, but we'll get to the phones next.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten is
- 48:09Speaker 2: the number. Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten,
- 48:14Speaker 2: mister New York.
- 48:14Speaker 1: He's on the case the Mark Simone show on seven tenor.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Hey, we'll pick some calls. Eight hundred three to two
- 48:22Speaker 2: one zero seven ten is the number the Bill Ackman
- 48:26Speaker 2: pickup line, May I meet you?
- 48:29Speaker 7: Well?
- 48:30Speaker 2: Jacqueline carl just said, if a guy walked up to
- 48:32Speaker 2: her and said that she'd think there was something wrong
- 48:33Speaker 2: with him and would run. So he's onto something with
- 48:38Speaker 2: the politeness and the good grammar. So maybe come up
- 48:43Speaker 2: with a variation of it. Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt.
- 48:46Speaker 2: May I just say hello? Still sounds lame. I don't
- 48:51Speaker 2: try something like that. Let's go to Paul in Beth Page. Paul,
- 48:55Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 48:57Speaker 16: I'm doing great, mar good morning. I want to ask
- 48:59Speaker 16: you about Mondani with this free transit, with the buses
- 49:03Speaker 16: and stuff. Let's just say hypothetically, he tells Tish that
- 49:08Speaker 16: don't enforce it, like you enforced spitting in the subway.
- 49:12Speaker 16: Then he's getting his wish, isn't he.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you could do that right now. Half the people
- 49:16Speaker 2: don't pay the subway or the buses. Half the people
- 49:18Speaker 2: jump the turnstile or just get out and don't pay.
- 49:21Speaker 2: In drivers, they don't enforce that now, So the people
- 49:24Speaker 2: that want to ride for free or riding for free
- 49:26Speaker 2: free buses, it's just a gimmick. If you had a
- 49:29Speaker 2: major massive affordability crisis the bus prices, that's not going
- 49:34Speaker 2: to solve it, obviously. It's just a little gimmicky thing.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Let's go to Cheryl in Monmouth County. Cheryl, how you
- 49:40Speaker 2: doing good?
- 49:41Speaker 17: Mark?
- 49:41Speaker 12: How are you?
- 49:42Speaker 13: I listened to you all the time, love you on
- 49:44Speaker 13: Kudlow and everything. I'm calling now let me that's.
- 49:47Speaker 2: You a personal question. If you lived in Connecticut, you'd say,
- 49:51Speaker 2: I'm from this town, I'm from Westport, I'm from oh Okay, Danvery.
- 49:55Speaker 2: But New Jersey people they identify themselves by the county.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Why is that?
- 50:00Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Why don't they just say what town they're in?
- 50:05Speaker 13: You know, I did it because I didn't want too
- 50:06Speaker 13: much information out.
- 50:08Speaker 2: We think we're following him.
- 50:11Speaker 13: No, no, no, no, no, whatever, it's not it's not
- 50:14Speaker 13: important anyway. This is what is important, and I feel
- 50:17Speaker 13: passionate about it. And I thought, gee, maybe I'm sitting
- 50:20Speaker 13: in my car and I'm listening to you and I'm saying.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Let me do it.
- 50:25Speaker 13: Okayya, this I'm Dami. We're going to talk about all
- 50:32Speaker 13: the things that he's saying that are so anti American.
- 50:35Speaker 13: And the thing is, I did a research and from
- 50:43Speaker 13: my education, I remember a lot and I attempted to
- 50:47Speaker 13: notify a leaf Stephonic and President Trump. Now I'm calling you,
- 50:55Speaker 13: and I know you're connected.
- 50:56Speaker 7: I know.
- 50:56Speaker 13: What's the point okay nineteen n I'm the.
- 51:02Speaker 8: M Goldman.
- 51:04Speaker 2: We got to tell me the point. Tell me the point.
- 51:06Speaker 2: What's the point.
- 51:07Speaker 13: The point is there's precedent for deporting him.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Well, there is a committee working on that. They're going
- 51:13Speaker 2: over his application.
- 51:16Speaker 13: Listen, Eisenhower nineteen We understand all this.
- 51:19Speaker 14: You can.
- 51:20Speaker 2: You can deport all the people you want. Yeah. Eisenhower
- 51:22Speaker 2: ran Operation Wetback. They use buses, planes, trains. They deported
- 51:26Speaker 2: about a million people in a year. But they are
- 51:29Speaker 2: looking at mom, Donnie, if you lied in any way
- 51:31Speaker 2: on his citizenship application, his visa, anything, and there's a
- 51:36Speaker 2: couple of people looking at that looking to get him
- 51:39Speaker 2: revoke his citizenship. That's possible. They're also looking at foreign
- 51:42Speaker 2: campaign donations. They keep saying they're looking. So far, they've
- 51:46Speaker 2: come up with nothing and it's getting a little late,
- 51:48Speaker 2: but they're looking at that. If they can find he
- 51:50Speaker 2: accepted foreign money knowingly, they can still remove him. Believe
- 51:54Speaker 2: it or not. Let's go to Chipper and Stony Point. Chipper,
- 51:58Speaker 2: how you.
- 51:58Speaker 9: Doing, I Mark?
- 52:00Speaker 4: How are you good?
- 52:02Speaker 3: Okay?
- 52:03Speaker 8: Every I just got I just like to know your
- 52:07Speaker 8: three secrets.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Oh you can't pick three favorite that's impossibly recorded.
- 52:14Speaker 10: No, you can't.
- 52:16Speaker 2: He couldn't do it. You know, when I used to
- 52:18Speaker 2: do the Sinatra Show, every great singer in the world
- 52:20Speaker 2: was a guest, and I asked everyone to pick their
- 52:23Speaker 2: favorite Sinatra song and never got the same answer twice.
- 52:25Speaker 2: There's a million. His two best albums we Small Hours
- 52:29Speaker 2: of the Morning. I don't have favorites, but his two
- 52:32Speaker 2: best albums we Small Hours of the Morning and Only
- 52:36Speaker 2: the Lonely. Those are the two. If you got to
- 52:37Speaker 2: start somewhere, start with those two albums, right and h obviously,
- 52:43Speaker 2: I mean it's incredible body work. One hundred albums recorded,
- 52:47Speaker 2: fourteen hundred songs. That's not the most albums, by the way.
- 52:51Speaker 2: The most elefant Cheryl one hundred and sixty six albums,
- 52:55Speaker 2: but the all time record was Bing Crosby two hundred
- 52:58Speaker 2: albums over his career. Let's go to Richard in Bay Shore. Richard.
- 53:03Speaker 2: How you doing.
- 53:05Speaker 3: I'm doing well.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Mark.
- 53:06Speaker 15: You know, Kansas City had free buses, but now they've
- 53:08Speaker 15: gone back to charging fares, and the bus drivers were
- 53:13Speaker 15: all for it, because unless you're like thirty, some out
- 53:16Speaker 15: of them were assaulted when they had a fair.
- 53:18Speaker 3: It almost never happened.
- 53:20Speaker 16: They had to hire.
- 53:21Speaker 15: Guards in Kansas City, and then they had to hire
- 53:23Speaker 15: armed guards, which costs them millions of dollars. So the
- 53:27Speaker 15: whole thing, you know, and obviously, yes, the homeless, the drunks,
- 53:31Speaker 15: the druggies, they used the bus as as their hangout.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we know it doesn't work. It never works. It's
- 53:38Speaker 2: never worked anywhere. That's free stuff and affordability crisis. There
- 53:43Speaker 2: is one. It seems to only be in the Blue
- 53:44Speaker 2: cities where they have this affordability crisis. But one of
- 53:49Speaker 2: the reasons it's so expensive to live in New York.
- 53:51Speaker 2: It's like the greatest city in the world. It's really expensive.
- 53:54Speaker 2: You know, if you go to Westchester, you know Scarsdale. Oh,
- 53:59Speaker 2: it's really expensive over but you ever see what it
- 54:01Speaker 2: looks like. It's beautiful Mount Vernon not so expensive, but
- 54:05Speaker 2: you see what it looks like. It doesn't look like Scarsdale.
- 54:08Speaker 2: It's you have that everywhere. Go to that coffee shop
- 54:12Speaker 2: on the corner, not that expensive, but they walk a
- 54:16Speaker 2: block away and go into Tiffany's. Wooh, there's an affordability
- 54:19Speaker 2: crisis in there. But that's because it's good stuff. Hey,
- 54:22Speaker 2: when we come back, we'll get to Johnny Carson. The
- 54:25Speaker 2: Ultimate Definitive Book on Johnny Carson is out. We'll talk
- 54:29Speaker 2: to the author next on seven to ten wor.
- 54:32Speaker 1: In Mark on Demand by setting a preset for his
- 54:36Speaker 1: podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simon
- 54:40Speaker 1: on WOR.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Well, we love Johnny Carson, the greatest talk show host ever.
- 54:47Speaker 2: And there's a book out, a brand new book, The
- 54:49Speaker 2: Definitive Book on Johnny Carson, the Ultimate Book. There's been
- 54:52Speaker 2: some bad books of these. This is the book on
- 54:54Speaker 2: Johnny Carson. It's out. It's already a bestseller. I urge
- 54:58Speaker 2: you to get the book, by the way, it'd be
- 55:00Speaker 2: a great Christmas present for somebody. The book's called Love
- 55:05Speaker 2: Johnny Carson. You can get it on Amazon. It's a
- 55:07Speaker 2: great book, Love Johnny Carson. It's the real story, the
- 55:11Speaker 2: whole story, and it's by Mark Malkoff, who does the
- 55:14Speaker 2: Carson Podcast, which has been on for years. Got a
- 55:18Speaker 2: lot of big devoted listeners. You should listen to that too,
- 55:20Speaker 2: the Carson Podcast. But the author of the new book,
- 55:23Speaker 2: Love Johnny Carson, Mark Malkoff, How you.
- 55:26Speaker 4: Doing, Mark, I'm doing great. Nice to talk to you, sir.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Hey, it's a You've been on a book tour all
- 55:34Speaker 2: over the place promoting it, but you just went to
- 55:37Speaker 2: Johnny Carson's hometown, right, tell us about that.
- 55:40Speaker 4: I was in Norfolk, Nebraska. They flew me out there.
- 55:43Speaker 17: I thought it was called Norfolk, They say Norfolk, But
- 55:46Speaker 17: I was in Johnny Carson's boyhood home.
- 55:49Speaker 4: The owner invited me over there and just to be
- 55:52Speaker 4: in that space and see where Johnny slept with his
- 55:54Speaker 4: brother Dick, and it was unbelievable. They had me sign
- 55:59Speaker 4: autographed the room wall with other visitors. The Smothers brothers
- 56:02Speaker 4: have been there, Paul Riser, and they have a local museum,
- 56:05Speaker 4: the Elkhorn Valley Museum, with Johnny's awards, his Emmy's costumes,
- 56:10Speaker 4: like art Fernon Blaby, And it was unbelievable just to
- 56:14Speaker 4: be at this place that made and shaped Johnny Carson.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Yeah, when you stand there in the middle of Nebraska,
- 56:20Speaker 2: the Great Midwest, you realize how far this guy came
- 56:23Speaker 2: and what a journey he took.
- 56:25Speaker 17: He did, I mean when he was seventeen, when he
- 56:28Speaker 17: graduated high school at seventeen, the first thing he did
- 56:31Speaker 17: was hitchhike to Los Angeles and he bought a star
- 56:35Speaker 17: map to the and went to Jack Benny's home and
- 56:37Speaker 17: waved it outside to see if Benny would come at
- 56:39Speaker 17: which he didn't. But yeah, Johnny always had these ambitions,
- 56:43Speaker 17: but Nebraska definitely shaped him.
- 56:45Speaker 4: And just to be back there and.
- 56:47Speaker 17: To talk to people that had Johnny's teacher, Fay Gordon,
- 56:51Speaker 17: who turned when she turned one hundred years old, and
- 56:53Speaker 17: then I think early the mid nineties, Johnny returned back
- 56:56Speaker 17: to Nebraska for her one hundred birthday. But I talked
- 56:59Speaker 17: to people that were older that had Johnny's teacher, and Johnny,
- 57:02Speaker 17: of course over there is like, I mean, he's an
- 57:05Speaker 17: icon to us, but back there, I mean he's royalty
- 57:08Speaker 17: and rightfully so. I mean he's donated so much money
- 57:10Speaker 17: and helped out with so many good causes.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a guy that gave his first big
- 57:15Speaker 2: radio job in Nebraska, and as you point out, he
- 57:20Speaker 2: was so nice that guy. For the rest of his life.
- 57:21Speaker 2: He always helped the guy and met with him.
- 57:23Speaker 12: Right.
- 57:23Speaker 17: Yeah, Meryl Workoven was his name, and he was in Omaha,
- 57:27Speaker 17: and he got Johnny his really big first job in
- 57:30Speaker 17: radio and Omaha, and Johnny kept in touch with him
- 57:34Speaker 17: for decades.
- 57:35Speaker 4: Would invite him to the tonight show.
- 57:37Speaker 17: They'd go out to dinner at Johnny's one of Johnny's
- 57:39Speaker 17: favorite the Palm in La. And then when this gentleman, Meryll,
- 57:43Speaker 17: who worked in radio for something like thirty years in Nebraska,
- 57:46Speaker 17: when his car broke down driving out to LA Johnny
- 57:49Speaker 17: surprised him with a new car, a new Buick. And
- 57:53Speaker 17: when Johnny presented this to Meryl Workoven, they both started crying.
- 57:58Speaker 17: I mean their daughter, his daughter, Melanieu Werkovien, was telling
- 58:02Speaker 17: me the story about being there, and yeah, Johnny had
- 58:05Speaker 17: very close friends, which I talked about in the book,
- 58:08Speaker 17: which to the media, you know, they said he was
- 58:10Speaker 17: cold and a loof But the people I talked to,
- 58:13Speaker 17: the four hundred people, I mean, you knew Johnny Carson,
- 58:15Speaker 17: you met him, they told me that.
- 58:17Speaker 16: He was not like that.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Well, he said, when you go to work, it's called work.
- 58:22Speaker 2: It's not fun. You got to be very business like
- 58:24Speaker 2: and you got to be a little cold when you
- 58:26Speaker 2: go to work. You're not there to have fun.
- 58:27Speaker 16: He would.
- 58:28Speaker 17: Yeah, he would protect his energy too, because he was
- 58:30Speaker 17: You would only get there a couple hours before the
- 58:32Speaker 17: show because he didn't want to waste his energy on
- 58:35Speaker 17: a show day, no lunches with people. I mean, for
- 58:38Speaker 17: most of his career he was doing at least ninety minutes,
- 58:41Speaker 17: if not an hour and forty five, and he was
- 58:43Speaker 17: just always exhausted, so he had to protect his energy.
- 58:47Speaker 17: But to hear the stories was just it's been unbelievable.
- 58:50Speaker 17: I mean, Bob Yucker was somebody that I talked to
- 58:53Speaker 17: on the Carson podcast for an hour. He was telling
- 58:55Speaker 17: me that the first time he went on the show
- 58:57Speaker 17: in like nineteen sixty nine, Johnny did not believe afterwards,
- 59:01Speaker 17: that he was a real major league baseball player. He
- 59:03Speaker 17: thought he was so funny that he had to be
- 59:05Speaker 17: a comedian that was lying about being a major league
- 59:08Speaker 17: baseball player. And Johnny staff had to show him articles
- 59:12Speaker 17: and just to hear those stories, I mean, Ker told
- 59:15Speaker 17: me they never used the pre interview youger, Buddy Hackett,
- 59:18Speaker 17: Don Rickles, no pre interviews.
- 59:20Speaker 4: I mean, he was effortless.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, now everybody should get this book. You're gonna
- 59:23Speaker 2: love this book. It's just one fascinating chapter and story
- 59:26Speaker 2: after another. It's called Love Johnny Carson. Brand new book
- 59:30Speaker 2: by Mark Malkoff called Love Johnny Carson. Go order it now.
- 59:34Speaker 2: They taped the show every night, But in thirty years,
- 59:37Speaker 2: did they ever stop a tape? They just never stopped
- 59:40Speaker 2: for any reason.
- 59:41Speaker 17: Did they very few times. The one time I remember
- 59:44Speaker 17: is Dela Reese had a stroke at an brain aneurysm.
- 59:47Speaker 17: They stopped that almost never. I think it was I
- 59:53Speaker 17: think John Davidson kicked a speaker and the something happened
- 59:57Speaker 17: and they had to cancel a taping.
- 59:58Speaker 4: But Johnny liked to in the mistakes. The mistakes were
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: all part of the show.
- 1:00:02Speaker 17: Like well, for example, when Robert Gouleer John Davidson forgot
- 1:00:05Speaker 17: the words to a song, Johnny wouldn't let them stop tape.
- 1:00:08Speaker 17: He said, no, you're gonna get it. You're gonna figure
- 1:00:10Speaker 17: it out. And the audience loved it, and you know,
- 1:00:13Speaker 17: it just made these famous celebrities more endearing to the audience.
- 1:00:16Speaker 17: But I have to say, I want to tell people
- 1:00:19Speaker 17: in the New York City area one thing I do
- 1:00:21Speaker 17: want to mention, and you were just there and I
- 1:00:23Speaker 17: was there just a day ago, is the Paley Center
- 1:00:25Speaker 17: at fifty second Street in New York City has Johnny
- 1:00:29Speaker 17: Carson's actual desk chair the couch. It's unbelievable. To sit there,
- 1:00:35Speaker 17: and you can actually sit in Johnny's chair from the step.
- 1:00:38Speaker 17: But I know you were there. I saw the photo,
- 1:00:40Speaker 17: which is tremendous. But every opportunity when I'm in Midtown,
- 1:00:43Speaker 17: I try to stop by the Paley Center.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a wonderful place. If you check my Instagram,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: you see a picture of me sitting in the Carson desk,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: But it's over there at the Paley Center, which is
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: a wonderful museum on fifty second Street. Hey, there's things
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: that Johnny Carson did it with traditions on the Tonight Shop.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: They're all gone now. They don't do them anymore, like
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: having a guest host or a sidekick sitting next to you,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: or a new comedians stand up comedian Newston. How come
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: that all went away? They don't do that anymore.
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:01:09Speaker 17: I feel like the panel was the best part when
- 1:01:12Speaker 17: you would have these people like I don't know, Don
- 1:01:15Speaker 17: Rickles or Glenn Campbell and they start getting added and
- 1:01:18Speaker 17: there was just so much fun with those traditions. I
- 1:01:21Speaker 17: don't know why the shows have have just deviated so
- 1:01:25Speaker 17: much from what worked. It doesn't make any sense to
- 1:01:29Speaker 17: me about that tradition. Yeah, it's just it's different. I mean,
- 1:01:34Speaker 17: I do like the fact that all the late night
- 1:01:35Speaker 17: hosts still talk about Johnny Carson with reverence, yet it's
- 1:01:38Speaker 17: not the same. I mean, I love and I hear
- 1:01:41Speaker 17: from people all across America that miss Johnny that go
- 1:01:44Speaker 17: to the official Johnny YouTube channel, and there's over a
- 1:01:47Speaker 17: million subs people that have subscribed to this YouTube channel,
- 1:01:50Speaker 17: and it's just amazing just to look at that body
- 1:01:53Speaker 17: of work. But yeah, I really do wish they would
- 1:01:55Speaker 17: have kept some of those traditions.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Well, you should also start listening to the Carson podcast.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Mark Malcoff did with like six hundred episodes of it
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: with every.
- 1:02:04Speaker 17: We did a lot, and we have new episodes coming up.
- 1:02:07Speaker 17: Ed Shaughnessy, who's the drummer. We have his son I
- 1:02:11Speaker 17: talked to. I talked to a bunch of other people
- 1:02:13Speaker 17: that I wasn't able to get on the podcast. So
- 1:02:15Speaker 17: we're doing new episodes and we're going to be doing some.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Events around the country.
- 1:02:18Speaker 17: I was just in Chicago at their Museum of Broadcasts
- 1:02:21Speaker 17: and Communications. They have a Late Night exhibit some Carson
- 1:02:23Speaker 17: and Letterman items. So yeah, it's been just incredible just
- 1:02:27Speaker 17: people miss Johnny. I thought, Mark, I really thought, like
- 1:02:30Speaker 17: when talking to you, when we first started talking and stuff,
- 1:02:33Speaker 17: I didn't realize how many people that around the country
- 1:02:36Speaker 17: just missed Johnny as much as us.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: But they are all over the place.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I should get the book Love Johnny Carson,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: big new, wonderful book about Johnny Carson, the real story,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: and it'd be a great Christmas present. It's called Love
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Johnny Carson. Now, I always preferred the New York Tonight
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Show years. There was something better about it. But Carson
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: had a lot of trouble in New York, right, women drinking,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: that kind of stuff.
- 1:02:58Speaker 17: Yeah, he would talk about on the two I Show
- 1:03:00Speaker 17: with his struggle with alcohol. That was always a thing
- 1:03:02Speaker 17: he talked about. He would say he would have one
- 1:03:04Speaker 17: more drink than he's should he would turn into Attila
- 1:03:07Speaker 17: the Hunt. So he definitely had some tough times. Jillie's
- 1:03:11Speaker 17: and Ed McMahon would babysit him and make sure he
- 1:03:14Speaker 17: would get home. And he got in some trouble in
- 1:03:16Speaker 17: Frank Sinatra one time had to save his life there.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: I talk about that in the book, but I agree.
- 1:03:22Speaker 17: I think the New York years with you know, Jimmy
- 1:03:24Speaker 17: Breslin and just I think that it was just such
- 1:03:27Speaker 17: a more intimate, classy show, sophisticated show. I did like
- 1:03:31Speaker 17: when they during those first ten years when they go
- 1:03:33Speaker 17: out to Hollywood, because it would go off the rails
- 1:03:35Speaker 17: with you know, people like George Goebel and Dean Martin.
- 1:03:38Speaker 17: But I definitely think those first ten years from the
- 1:03:41Speaker 17: clips that I've seen, I think that those are stellar,
- 1:03:44Speaker 17: and those really hold up the footage that does exist.
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: Not a lot of it does, but when I've seen it.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's a one of a book. I'm telling
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: you get the book. You'll really love it. It's everything
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: you ever want to know. But I knew everything there
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: was to know about Johnny Carson, but I could read
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: this book and find out fifty thousand things I didn't know.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: It's got everything about Johnny Carson.
- 1:04:04Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean Ed Eames. I mean I'm in for
- 1:04:06Speaker 17: at Beverly Hill is sitting down with Ed Eames. He's
- 1:04:08Speaker 17: in his nineties telling me about he didn't know how
- 1:04:11Speaker 17: to throw a tomahawk. And I'm getting the actual story
- 1:04:13Speaker 17: from the man himself, the most famous Carson Club of
- 1:04:16Speaker 17: all times. So we put all the stories in talk
- 1:04:19Speaker 17: to everyone that went on the show, Johnny's staff, and
- 1:04:22Speaker 17: I have to say I've heard from a lot of
- 1:04:23Speaker 17: people that knew Johnny and people at the tonight show,
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: and they have all been so complimentary about me getting
- 1:04:29Speaker 17: the story right, which I'm grateful to hear. And you know,
- 1:04:32Speaker 17: I've been, you know, working on this for years and
- 1:04:34Speaker 17: you've been such a great support in helping me in
- 1:04:36Speaker 17: with the books.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: I mean, you know so much about Late Night and Carson.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: I didn't know, So I'm grateful to you.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Well, everybody, get the book. Order it today. Order it now.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: It's called Love Johnny Carson. It's on Amazon. It'd be
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: a good Christmas present too. Love Johnny Carson is the book.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Go order it and listen to the Carson Podcast. Start listening.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Mark Malkoff, thanks for being with us. We'll talk again soon,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: talk so thank you so much. Mark as the pleasure here.
