- 0:00I was I was introduced myself as the prodigal son, you know,
- 0:04because I grew up in a church that I went as far away as I
- 0:07could and then got real back in. I don't do Christian rock but
- 0:11I'm a Christian that does rock. You know I grew up in a
- 0:13Christian household, my dad is a pastor and he was an evangelist
- 0:17for 25 years and did all that. And I used to go up and do
- 0:21missionary work with him with the Apaches, Arizona.
- 0:27But grandfather was a pastor for 75 years.
- 0:30So you know, I grew up in a Christian home and live.
- 0:33My wife's father is a Baptist pastor.
- 0:36So I was like, we are pkc though.
- 0:38Preachers kids married each other.
- 0:40So I always refer to myself as a the real prodigal son.
- 0:46Because I mean I went out and the Lord, let me do everything.
- 0:50Maybe did let me but allowed it, you know, and then just started
- 0:54reeling me back in, you know saying, you know.
- 0:56Okay, you've seen enough now. Let's let's Let's see it out.
- 1:00Let's bring you back to where you belong and you know when you
- 1:03get out there and you realize that you had every car, you had
- 1:07every house or that all that you realize that that's not the
- 1:09answer. That there's a great big nothing
- 1:12out there at the end of that sort of materialism, doesn't
- 1:15mean anything, you know, and a lot of people say that there's a
- 1:18there's a big god-shaped hole in your heart.
- 1:20And you know when that's filled and you really are satisfied, I
- 1:23think that's where I'm at right now.
- 1:24And I'm very young in the faith even though I grew up and I saw,
- 1:28I mean, either do a lot of studies.
- 1:29A lot of Bible study things like that.
- 1:32After about two weeks Sherilyn gone, she'd gone to Chicago and
- 1:36said I can't watch this right but the cocaine was speaking a
- 1:40lot louder than her and finally I looked in the mirror and it
- 1:46looked like my makeup but it was blood coming down.
- 1:50I think I might have been hallucinating.
- 1:52I don't know. Flush the rock down the toilet.
- 1:56And went to bed for three days and I woke up and I called her
- 2:00and I said it's done. And she goes right.
- 2:04You know, she's a you have to prove it and that was, you know,
- 2:07that was the beginning of our relationship coming back course.
- 2:11One of the deals was we start going to church?
- 2:15And we started going to North Phoenix Baptist.
- 2:17And there was a pastor there Jackson who was a hell's fire
- 2:21pastor and he there's 6,000 people and he was talking to me.
- 2:25Because I was a prodigal son. Number.
- 2:28I grew up in the church. My dad was a pastor.
- 2:29My granddad was a evangelist and when the when the band happened,
- 2:35it took me as far away. As you could possibly, I was the
- 2:37poster boy for everything wrong, and then when I got sober and
- 2:42everything came back to the church, realizing that's where I
- 2:45belong there. So, we started going to and, you
- 2:49know, a lot of people say, you know, I came to Christ because
- 2:52my love of Jesus. I came to Christ because of my
- 2:55fear of God, I totally understood that he'll was not
- 2:59getting high with Jim Morrison. Hell was going to be the worst
- 3:03place ever. In fear, I came back to the
- 3:07Lord, but I went to another church and that pastor preached,
- 3:13the love of Christ, which now you put the two together and it
- 3:17was exactly right. Yes.
- 3:18Well, you know, the Bible even says some save B beer, you know,
- 3:22and there's a point where some people need the hell scared on.
- 3:24I'm telling you, I wish I had, because I knew if I died and I
- 3:29knew, in other words, I knew who Christ was Jesus Christ was, and
- 3:33I was denying him. Because I was living my own life
- 3:37and I was living my life without him.
- 3:39I knew that there had to either come a point where I either
- 3:41accepted crisis, started Living that life or if I died in this,
- 3:46I was in a lot of trouble, and that's what really motivated me.
- 3:50What does that mean? When you say accepted Christ,
- 3:52what does it mean to accept? Well, you know, I don't think we
- 3:54accept Christ. I think we accept the fact that
- 3:58he accepted us, you know? And I just got to a point of
- 4:02saying I'm tired of this life. And I know that this is right
- 4:07there, when people say, well how do you know that put that in a
- 4:10words that I know you can't put that into words, it's because
- 4:13God opens your eyes and he says, you know, it's supernatural and
- 4:19you try to tell that to people and they go.
- 4:21Well yeah but so is voodoo and so is this lingo?
- 4:23No, you don't understand and I could never explain it to you
- 4:26but when when the Lord opens your eyes and you suddenly
- 4:29realize who you are and who he is, Oh it's a whole different
- 4:35world you know and right then you know I was baptized and I
- 4:41went to my pastor and I said I think I got a quit being Alice
- 4:45Cooper now and he goes really. He says is you think God makes
- 4:50mistakes? I don't know, he says, look we
- 4:52put you, he puts you in. He said he put you in the exact
- 4:59Camp of the Philistines and you We're basically the leader.
- 5:05So now, what if you're Alice Cooper but what if you're now
- 5:09following Christ and you're a rock star but you don't live the
- 5:13rock star life, your lifestyle is now your testimony and that
- 5:19made total sense to me. Once you realize that That Alice
- 5:23is a character. Yeah, and that's another world
- 5:27over here. Here's, here's the world of
- 5:29Alice Cooper. And so I'm not touring right
- 5:31now. So I'm over here.
- 5:33I'm in Solid Rock right now. So this is the world I'm in
- 5:36right now, it's Solid Rock. Tomorrow was a big tournament
- 5:38and this and that People have to remind me, I'm Alice Cooper.
- 5:42Yeah, because I totally kind of forget about it, you know, but
- 5:47in a couple months I'm gonna be back over here again, I respect
- 5:50Alice the character and I love to care.
- 5:52If he's fun. He's my favorite rock star
- 5:55because I, we even talk about him in the third person.
- 5:58Yeah, notice that. Yeah, we say, you know what?
- 6:01Should Ellis? We're here.
- 6:02Yeah, I think Alan. I don't think I was aware that.
- 6:05So he's totally divorced for me. Yeah, I don't think like him at
- 6:10all. On stage, I think like Alice.
- 6:12Yeah, and that's a different thing, you know.
- 6:15But again with the career and all the stuff hey, for one thing
- 6:19I'm Christian. Yeah, you know, and if you were
- 6:23going to put what's important in my life, Alice Cooper would be
- 6:27somewhere around fifth or sixth place.
- 6:29Christianity is basically your one, your one-on-one
- 6:31relationship with Jesus. Right?
- 6:33And so, if you're a disciple of Jesus, you read you, you absorb
- 6:39it. You try to live that.
- 6:40At life. You know, that doesn't say
- 6:41anywhere in there that I can't be a performer, doesn't say
- 6:44anything in there that I can't, you know, be an artist, you
- 6:48know, I always questioned people when especially the extremists.
- 6:51It's always extremists think that caused the trouble.
- 6:53So, you know, I said, would it be okay if I played Shakespeare
- 6:58then? Well, sure.
- 6:59Shakespeare is fine. I said like Macbeth would be ok.
- 7:02Yeah, it's about incest, witchcraft, a murder and that's
- 7:08okay. Yeah.
- 7:11Because a lot of the times people criticize stuff, they'll
- 7:13never read or never see any way, right?
- 7:16Yeah. Well stay away from bitch
- 7:17rock-and-roll. Well it can't be Christian you
- 7:18know and yeah I'm not a Christian I don't do Christian
- 7:22rock but I'm a Christian that does Rock itself but I dude I do
- 7:25study every day and you know every once in a while, if the
- 7:31teachers not there on Wednesday morning, I teach Bible study,
- 7:33you know? But I mean, I do part to teach
- 7:36what's the part that makes your heart.
- 7:37Sing the most, well, I mean I think that, you know, you can
- 7:39take any part of Of the old or new testament and find something
- 7:42in there that's going to apply to you in a modern-day.
- 7:45There's not just it's not just that happened then.
- 7:47And I'm a True Believer that you that whatever it says.
- 7:50It says, I don't think it's just all symbolic, you know.
- 7:53I think that it was very, if God created the universe, he can
- 7:57certainly, you know, part the Red Sea, right?
- 8:00That would be pretty easy. The whole sky was introduced
- 8:04myself as the prodigal son, you know, because I grew up in a
- 8:07church that I went as far away as I could It and then got real
- 8:12back in. And when I came back in, I all
- 8:15the stuff that I was doing what do I want another house and
- 8:17other this and other that know that what I was really looking
- 8:20for was that relationship back to with Christ again and when I
- 8:25found that it didn't change what I did for a living, you know.
- 8:31Yeah I think I write differently now.
- 8:33Yeah, I think when I write, I don't necessarily when when I
- 8:36wasn't a Christian, I was going to assure sleep with anybody,
- 8:39you know. No, I don't believe that.
- 8:41Now, you know, I think there's a moral core that we're missing a
- 8:44lot of guys think. Oh, just another religion.
- 8:48Yeah, okay. Well, the last thing you want is
- 8:50religion in your life. What you want is Christ in your
- 8:53life? You don't want religion in your
- 8:54life. I think people judge Christians
- 8:58by other Christians. Yes.
- 8:59And immediately, they think, well, you're Christian.
- 9:01So, you can't do any wrong and you're better than me.
- 9:04And I go, that's just the opposite.
- 9:06Yeah, and when you become Christian, you become very aware
- 9:09of how far. What you are but again you know
- 9:12Satan uses that Satan uses that as a weapon.
- 9:15You know? I'm Christian and I made a
- 9:17mistake oh well then you're not really a Christian.
- 9:21Well we're working progress, aren't we?
- 9:22Well exactly but you know you'd be surprised how much that they
- 9:26have this image that you have to be perfect if you become a
- 9:29Christian would like to be perfect but we're certainly not
- 9:32going to be that's you know P or if you become a Christian what
- 9:36you're saying is I'm not God anymore.
- 9:38Yeah. If you're saying I'm not God
- 9:40anymore. That's everybody wants to be
- 9:42God. Even Christians have a hard time
- 9:45giving up your life you know there's that's the last thing
- 9:49they want to give up is the fact that I want to make my decisions
- 9:52for your always you always are self.
- 9:56You're always self-centered to know.
- 9:57I mean everything is for you as yourself is is this guy and we
- 10:02make lousy God's humans make really lousy God's I think so we
- 10:06got to let God be God and us be you know?
- 10:10What we are, you know. And and so I think that's what
- 10:14really changes is. Your focus on whoo-hoo.
- 10:16Your servant you're not serving you.
- 10:18You're serving Christ. That's chipping away at your at
- 10:22your life. All the time to try to make you
- 10:24more like him. And that's what a Christian is
- 10:28is a person of being molded and shaped, all their life.
- 11:07Hello, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Brett keen and you're
- 11:10watching listening to the bright King show.
- 11:12I hope you're all having a blessed day out there.
- 11:16I watched a video by the Raging atheist.
- 11:20Well, at least that's what he called, himself soon.
- 11:22That will be changing. I'm sure.
- 11:25But he says he's no longer an atheist and I've been talking to
- 11:29the region atheist off darn for the last couple of years and I
- 11:34have Theories. On why it is that a lot of this
- 11:36is change in. I've been noticing a lot of
- 11:39atheists who have renounced atheism and have become theist
- 11:44now, not all of them are becoming Christian.
- 11:47They're not all, you know, jumping on the Jesus train or
- 11:50anything, but they're believing in a higher power, there
- 11:53believing that there's more to the universe and what there is.
- 11:57And as far as I'm concerned, that's progress, you know, just
- 12:01the fact that they're open-minded to the out of God,
- 12:05just because they're saying, look, there is more to this,
- 12:09they can feel the vibe, they can feel that there's actually some
- 12:13kind of spirituality going on in them.
- 12:16And I also think it's not just that, but it's also a matter of
- 12:20maturity and it's experience. Now, when raging atheist was
- 12:26describing some of the things that was going on with them, he
- 12:29discovered the same thing. A lot of religious people have
- 12:32trouble with, and it's trying to Express or articulate an
- 12:37experience that you've had that moved.
- 12:40You or did something or change the way you thought about
- 12:43things, it's extremely hard to share a personal experience with
- 12:47other people. Especially total strangers on
- 12:49the internet and expect them to understand in any kind of way.
- 12:55Now. One of the things about it.
- 13:03Just taking a drink. Is he's always been an open
- 13:07minded guy. He's always been willing to talk
- 13:12and listen as where there's a lot of atheists out there that
- 13:16are young, especially on the internet, you'll notice a lot of
- 13:19them are very young and many of them when you watch their
- 13:22videos, they don't even take care of themself.
- 13:25It's like they couldn't even be bothered to brush your hair.
- 13:28A lot of them are overweight. A lot of them.
- 13:31You can tell I've never been through high school but they
- 13:33have this narcissistic view that Because they're an atheist that
- 13:37somehow qualifies them as being more intelligent than everybody
- 13:41else. I don't know if many of you have
- 13:44noticed that and a lot of them also suffer from a history onic
- 13:47disorder, which means that the go to the extreme in order to
- 13:51get attention and to them. Even if it's negative attention,
- 13:54at least it's something they don't have to feel irrelevant or
- 13:57alone and their process, but whether you're a narcissistic
- 14:03young atheist who thinks he's smarter than his parents.
- 14:06Other than the church, they used to go to or smarter than
- 14:09everybody on the planet even smarter than most of the
- 14:12scientists, which I've actually encountered atheist out there
- 14:16who didn't even make it through high school, but somehow would
- 14:20discredit or invalidate a scientist claimed, if it didn't
- 14:23agree with their own views, I think what we're seeing here,
- 14:28ladies and gentlemen, is a is what you'll notice on YouTube
- 14:33I've been around for almost 20 years now.
- 14:36Is that a lot of these young atheists they end up growing up?
- 14:39I can't tell you how many times on Facebook as well as in social
- 14:43media. A lot of times on YouTube and
- 14:46Twitter where someone who used to watch me whenever they were a
- 14:50young atheist, they end up going up.
- 14:53They end up growing up their life goes through changes.
- 14:56They learn what it's like to pay bills, have their own home, they
- 15:01end up eventually sometimes with a spouse, a wife, or a
- 15:05girlfriend or by Versa, and they become an adult.
- 15:10And when you become an adult things, start mattering to you,
- 15:13that didn't seem to matter before.
- 15:16Like you start thinking about life, and what it's going to be.
- 15:19Like when you die, you start putting value or another people
- 15:23and value on life. When you're a kid.
- 15:27You don't really think about things like that.
- 15:29You don't think about immortality or your mortality.
- 15:33It's not until you've been to a couple Roles where you see
- 15:37people that you love and care about, where you're absolutely
- 15:40shocked that they that you lost this person and that you'll
- 15:43never interact with them. Again, of course, unless you're
- 15:47a religious person or spiritual person, you believe that one
- 15:50day, you'll be with that same person and the afterlife.
- 15:55But not for atheist and you just start growing up.
- 15:59You start getting people start stepping on your toes.
- 16:03People start shitting and front of you.
- 16:06People spit in your face. You start realizing that.
- 16:11You're not all that. It you're not the most important
- 16:15thing in the world than that. Everything you have to say is
- 16:18the most intellectual and it gets to a point where you get
- 16:22tired of lying to yourself and you start looking at the
- 16:26universe and going down. There's a lot of crazy shit
- 16:29going on out here and they can't just be random Arkansas, be
- 16:33accident, there's got to be more to it and especially spending so
- 16:38much time. There's a lot of atheists like
- 16:40raging atheist. He spent a great deal of time
- 16:42with Jewish people. Indians Christians, people of
- 16:47all different faiths and sooner or later you start really even
- 16:52if you don't think about it at the moment.
- 16:55You start thinking about it, especially whenever you're going
- 16:58through pain and the Raging atheist, he knows full, well, he
- 17:02has suffered more pain than a person should deal with.
- 17:07And on top of it, he's trying to be a father and trying to take
- 17:10care of a little girl and that, I'll tell you what, even if you
- 17:16weren't having health issues, even if you weren't having a lot
- 17:19of pain, when you bring a child into the world, it's hard for
- 17:24even an atheist. To bring a child into the world
- 17:27and not say to themself she or he is beautiful.
- 17:31This is a miracle. I don't believe that this is
- 17:34just some kind of like, You know, just some kind of natural
- 17:39thing. The love that you feel for your
- 17:42child or your partner and all that transcends, all the
- 17:45bullshit that's on this planet. Ladies and gentlemen, it can
- 17:49really really wake a person up quick and I'll have to admit.
- 17:53That was one of the things that got me whenever I was a young
- 17:56man and being skeptical and being an atheist, it was finding
- 18:01the woman that I love and care about wanting to spend the rest
- 18:04of my life, what there? And then having a Child what
- 18:08they're bringing a life into the world, seeing that woman laying
- 18:11up in a hospital bed, holding my baby and her hands.
- 18:18Just the whole, it was weird. It was like suddenly it was
- 18:22raining joy and Bliss and the only place I could imagine the
- 18:27joy and Bliss Would Rain from as a place like heaven.
- 18:32The kind of thoughts that go through your head as you are
- 18:36walking down a dark Road. Seeking to find your
- 18:39destination. And then finally there's a
- 18:42moment where you see light at the end of the tunnel and you
- 18:46simply say to yourself, I've lived in the darkness long
- 18:49enough and now I see some light you.
- 18:53I continue to walk towards lighter, do I continue to
- 18:56stumble around in the darkness and so on.
- 19:00AW different whenever all the sudden, you find yourself on
- 19:03that dark road, heading towards light and now you have a wife or
- 19:07a girlfriend or a child as with you, you start thinking what is
- 19:12the best route for me? Do I continue to stumble around
- 19:15in the dark with my child or do I seek out something better for
- 19:21my kid or my wife from a girlfriend and whoever the
- 19:25person is that you put value in in love, Well.
- 19:32I think there's a lot of things going on.
- 19:34In Raging, I can't call him raging atheists anymore.
- 19:38I just guess I'll call him Ronnie because I don't know what
- 19:41to call him at this point. He simply says he believes in a
- 19:44higher power. He did say, he had a Jesus
- 19:47moment, but I know Ronnie long enough to know that sometimes he
- 19:52likes to be expressive on that. I think that he's going to be
- 19:57having a tough time because unfortunately when there's a lot
- 20:01of people walking around in darkness, they would like
- 20:04someone to stay with them that they respect and admire that way
- 20:07they can feel validated in their stupidity or their Darkness.
- 20:11So I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of people who are
- 20:13going to try to continue to dragging back into whatever,
- 20:17they think they have. But the truth is when we really
- 20:22evaluate this and really put an awl Alice us on it, atheism
- 20:27offers nothing, it doesn't, it doesn't do anything for your
- 20:31wife or your girlfriend atheism, doesn't help with your children.
- 20:37It doesn't help you with dealing with death or life.
- 20:41It doesn't help you find meaning and purpose in your existence,
- 20:45it doesn't help you pay the bills unless you're one of these
- 20:47big-time YouTube atheist, you got lucky enough to be featured
- 20:51or called himself a liberal and got held up by Google to be able
- 20:56to make a little bit of bread off of just simply screaming.
- 20:59There is no God all day. If you're not one of those
- 21:02people, if you don't fit into the elite liberal Community,
- 21:08then you get nothing, you just an atheist, who's repeating the
- 21:12same thing and probably even better than the ones getting
- 21:14paid, but you're not getting any kind of reward or benefit out of
- 21:18it. It's not helping you in the
- 21:20materialistic world and it sure as hell ain't buying diapers and
- 21:23milk for your kid. So I'm happy.
- 21:28I am pleased. I will say this.
- 21:32I do believe that he's going to have his moments.
- 21:35I know that whenever I walked away from atheism, it wasn't so
- 21:40simple. I felt like I was literally
- 21:42being ripped away from something.
- 21:44I felt like, is this going to hurt me intellectually, or
- 21:48people going to think I'm stupid?
- 21:50All this kind of shit because I spent so many years, you know,
- 21:53blasting about house Stupid things are outside of atheism
- 21:59and I was right. Of course, I did get blasted.
- 22:02I did get dumped Arne. I did end up losing what I
- 22:07thought to be connections as well as relationships with
- 22:10people because now I didn't agree with them.
- 22:13And I didn't share the same view and I wasn't preaching.
- 22:16The being a mouthpiece for the shed anymore.
- 22:22But the closer the more you start finding yourself in the
- 22:26light and the more, the light starts to consume you and the
- 22:31more you feel like someone is there and watching you and
- 22:34actually cares about your well-being, you start making
- 22:37better decisions in your life. I know a lot of non-believers
- 22:41out there, they seem to think, well, I don't need a Bible, I
- 22:44don't need, you know, a preacher.
- 22:46Someone telling me this or that in order for me to survive or do
- 22:50good in this world. Oh, is that so does anybody
- 22:54actually know anybody in the world that just woke up one day
- 22:57and and had it all figured out? No nobody ever does whether
- 23:02you're atheist or religious, we all go through struggles, we're
- 23:06all trying to figure out what works for us.
- 23:08What benefits us, what? What is going to be good for us
- 23:12in the end? And I'll tell you if you want to
- 23:16be a successful person, if you want to be happy, you have to
- 23:20learn how to be open-minded towards other people.
- 23:24Folks need to learn how to love each other.
- 23:27Whether you agree with another person or not, unless that
- 23:30person is literally causing physical harm to you.
- 23:34Our spiritual pain you should try your best.
- 23:38Love them and I'm not talking about just going out of your way
- 23:41to try to save them or so. Seeds of God but one way you can
- 23:46get atheists to listen as if you actually are sincere and caring
- 23:50about them as a person. I think a lot of religious
- 23:53people have lost that where you want to debate and argue with
- 23:57people but you don't want to know anything about the person
- 24:01when you're talking to an atheist, ask them what they do,
- 24:04for fun, ask them what it is. Some of the struggles they've
- 24:09been through. Ask them about some of the
- 24:11things they've learned a lot. To them.
- 24:14Like you really want to get to know them like you really care
- 24:17about where they're coming from when I'm talking to people.
- 24:21I honestly care and I like to hear about other people's life,
- 24:25I like to know where they're coming from.
- 24:27And if they do happen to find faith and they happen to find
- 24:30God, I like to know what the spark was that set them off.
- 24:34I like to know what got them thinking, or what was happening
- 24:38before, they had their experience and what was
- 24:40happening during their experience.
- 24:43I to get to know, not only the person, and I don't just go out
- 24:47of my way to save the soul, but I want to know who the person is
- 24:51that. I'm talking to Once people
- 24:55realize that that's how you are as a person that you actually
- 24:59care and that you love them, they'd be willing to talk to you
- 25:02about anything, you'd be willing to share anything.
- 25:06Some people, they're really good at pretending to, so they care.
- 25:10And they do that because they want to manipulate, but there's
- 25:14very, very rare groups of people who actually sincerely care.
- 25:18And they're not just doing something for a religious or
- 25:21political agenda. It's a it's weird to give advice
- 25:26like this because I know deep down inside that you can't
- 25:30really teach people how to love. You, can't teach people how to
- 25:34care about others. That's almost impossible to do.
- 25:38A person's got to have it in their heart before.
- 25:41They're even told you can be a guide and you can give
- 25:44instructions to people who already have that ability in
- 25:48them, but sad to say there is a lot of people out there that
- 25:53they just don't, they can't be taught.
- 25:56They have to experience it on their own or they have to
- 25:59already have it in them. There are some people who are
- 26:02just born, good in the world and some people are not.
- 26:06Well, ladies and gentlemen, you have a good one, God bless.
