- 1:01Invariably, on Sunday mornings, many of us joke that being at the
- 1:05track is like being at church.
- 1:07The holy trinity of duct tape, zip ties, and petrol is how
- 1:11we do the sign of the cross.
- 1:13In reality, many of us forget that there are many motorsports complexes
- 1:17that have churches on site, and many others have chaplains in presence.
- 1:21And with us this weekend as part of SRO GT America, we're delighted to be talking
- 1:26with Pastor Tim Stewart for Motorsports Ministries about what he does here as
- 1:31part of the larger motorsports community.
- 1:33So Tim, we want to welcome you to Break Fix to tell us a little bit
- 1:36about what Motorsports Ministries is and how you got involved in all this.
- 1:39Oh, wow.
- 1:40Yeah, that's a good story.
- 1:41I'm no redneck stock car guy.
- 1:43I mean that in a wonderful sort of way.
- 1:45I'm from Bristol, 220 miles due west of where we're sitting in southwest Virginia.
- 1:50Bristol Motor Speedway was, uh, built in, like, 1960.
- 1:54And my dad came home from work one night and he called me Bud.
- 1:58Said, Bud, you want to go to that race out at the speedway this coming Sunday?
- 2:01I said, well, yeah.
- 2:02And so we went.
- 2:04and I got hooked.
- 2:05We left that racetrack that day in 1960.
- 2:07And I had, I was a fan forever of a fellow named Richard Petty.
- 2:11And my daddy was a fan forever of a fellow named Junior Johnson.
- 2:15Y'all remember Junior Johnson?
- 2:16And so it was stock cars with a smattering of drag racing because
- 2:20five years later, they built Bristol Dragway, which is where they're having
- 2:24the NHRA Nationals this very weekend.
- 2:26And then I would watch some sports car racing on TV.
- 2:29But again, this is back in the sixties and TV coverage of
- 2:33things was not what it is today.
- 2:35Fast forward a bunch of years to 1994 and my wife and I are at
- 2:40the summertime race in Daytona.
- 2:42It's gone through different iterations of names.
- 2:44I still remember it as the firecracker 400.
- 2:46We were there.
- 2:47NASCAR is called pit passes.
- 2:49We had scored pit passes somehow or the other or garage passes as
- 2:52opposed to here where it's paddock.
- 2:54We went.
- 2:54And it was hot.
- 2:56It was hotter than it was as hot as it was here.
- 2:58Two days ago, we were walking around in the garage area.
- 3:01We got some water sat down under this tent, and I was
- 3:04a fan of all things NASCAR.
- 3:05And I recognized a man who was sitting at that table.
- 3:08Think he's still with us.
- 3:09I'm not sure.
- 3:10Max Helton and Max Helton was the founding chaplain.
- 3:12I'm the chaplain of MRO, Motor Racing Outreach, which does the chaplain,
- 3:16uh, chapel stuff in, in NASCAR.
- 3:18And so I'm not a shy person, so I introduced myself and we chatted, and
- 3:22he invited us to chapel the next day.
- 3:24Well, anybody could go to chapel, but he said, just come and see what we do.
- 3:28And so race weekend is over, my wife and I are driving back home.
- 3:31We live in Florida, so it was only a four hour drive.
- 3:34We're driving back home, and I said, how in the world does one get a gig like that?
- 3:37To marry two things.
- 3:38I love being a minister of the gospel and being able to do ministry
- 3:41with people and motor sports.
- 3:431994.
- 3:45Fast forward to 20 19, 25 years later, I was at Sebring.
- 3:49That's kinda my home track.
- 3:51It's only an hour and 20 minutes away.
- 3:52And so I was at Sebring for the 12 hour and I went down to the Motorsport
- 3:56Ministry's tent where they have a silent auction that that's a big fundraiser
- 4:01for us every year, every non covid year.
- 4:03And so I went down there to see Terry Borella.
- 4:06Backup just a little bit to 2001.
- 4:08There was a man in our church.
- 4:10I was the pastor of a, believe it or not, burnt store, Presbyterian
- 4:14church in Punta Gorda, Florida.
- 4:16And two of our members were Charlie and Anne Earwood.
- 4:19People listening to this podcast will be familiar with the Earwood name.
- 4:23Charlie and Ann, they had two sons.
- 4:25One son is named Terry Earwood, who is name is ubiquitous
- 4:28throughout the motorsports world, not just sports car racing.
- 4:32And then Steve Earwood, Terry's brother, Steve owns the Rockingham,
- 4:35North Carolina drag strip.
- 4:36And so Charlie invited me to Sebring in 2001.
- 4:40He said, come over as my guest.
- 4:42And I had, you know, stuff to wear around my neck and could go anywhere.
- 4:45It was brand new to me.
- 4:46I mean, I was a virgin and I was just looking at stuff and I saw the baddest
- 4:49looking race car I'd ever seen in my life.
- 4:51The number 26 Saleen S7R, driven by Franz Conrad and Oliver
- 4:56Gavin and Terry Borcheller.
- 4:58And so when I went back up to Charlie to see him throughout the
- 5:01day, I told him about that car.
- 5:03And he said, one of the drivers is a fellow named Terry Borcheller
- 5:06and he's a very devout Christian.
- 5:08And I said, well, this is cool.
- 5:09I have a favorite car and a favorite driver.
- 5:12And so I was a fan of that car and of that driver.
- 5:16Fast forward to 2004.
- 5:18I went over for Thursday night practice.
- 5:20I enjoyed doing that.
- 5:21I'd drive over and drive back.
- 5:22Like I said, it wasn't a long drive, and it was kind of rainy, and I had an
- 5:25umbrella, and I saw the number 63 Simcoe Saleen that Terry was driving, and they
- 5:31were aiming the headlights or something like that, and Terry was walking around,
- 5:35and I walked up to him, and maybe he stopped and chatted with me because I had
- 5:38an umbrella, and it was raining, and he didn't have an umbrella, but not really.
- 5:41He's a nice man.
- 5:42And I introduced myself and we met each other then 2004 in 2007,
- 5:47he preached at a Saturday night worship service at the church.
- 5:50I served in Punta Gorda and our fandom became an acquaintance,
- 5:54which became a friendship.
- 5:56And of course we were all along brothers in Christ without even
- 5:59knowing each other because that's the way the Christian family works.
- 6:02And so I would see and chat with Terry from time to time about
- 6:05stuff back to 2019 Sebring.
- 6:08I walked down to the tent to see Terry, gave him a hug.
- 6:10How are you doing?
- 6:11He asked me, what are you retiring?
- 6:13I said, well, I'm not exactly sure, but it's coming up pretty quickly.
- 6:17Why?
- 6:17And he said, I want you to come and be a chaplain with Motorsports Ministries.
- 6:21And I said, can we talk about that?
- 6:23And what do we do next?
- 6:25And so we've carved out some time.
- 6:27What do we do next is why don't you go with me to a race and then you'll do a
- 6:32race by yourself and see if it works out.
- 6:35In other words, see if you like it and see if we like you.
- 6:38That's life.
- 6:39And so we went to Watkins Glen in 2019.
- 6:42That's where I met Tom Dyer.
- 6:43And there was a hurricane.
- 6:45Well, I can't remember the name of that hurricane.
- 6:47Doreen, I believe it was.
- 6:48Something like that.
- 6:48Yeah, it was bearing down on Florida.
- 6:50Terry's flight on Sunday was canceled, so he had to fly out on Saturday.
- 6:55Well, we were going to do Chapel on Sunday.
- 6:58Terry said, I've got to go home.
- 6:59You've got to take me to the airport because I've got to get home.
- 7:02And it's your baby now.
- 7:04And I appreciated the trust.
- 7:06That meant a heck of a lot to me.
- 7:07I was going to do Chapel anyway, just because that was going to
- 7:10be my maiden voyage, and he would be there, et cetera, et cetera.
- 7:13And then the second race I did by myself, and that was at the Road America.
- 7:17And then of course, uh, then 2020, Daytona was wonderful.
- 7:22And then I went to St.
- 7:24Petersburg for our SRO race and the GT4 cars were on track and about 20
- 7:30minutes into their session, the world stopped, the race was canceled, track
- 7:34went silent and everybody go home.
- 7:36That's not exactly the way they put it.
- 7:37We kept racing that year.
- 7:39So I did the COVID year and I did 2021 and here I am now.
- 7:43And so anyway, was God married those, you know, I told my sweet wife, Karen,
- 7:47how does a person get a gig like that?
- 7:49I guess just pray and be patient.
- 7:51And it took God a while, you know, 25 years, but God made it happen.
- 7:55And here I am getting to do something that I love to do ministry and motorsports.
- 8:00That's my story.
- 8:01And I'm sticking to it.
- 8:02So listeners, if you've been to many races, you're probably familiar
- 8:04with the fact that at the opening ceremonies of many of the events,
- 8:09Especially the larger events.
- 8:10There's always some sort of dedication by a pastor.
- 8:12You look at things like petite Lamont or the Indy 500 or the Daytona 500.
- 8:16There's always some sort of short little service or blessing to the
- 8:20entire crowd, to the drivers, et cetera.
- 8:22I'm assuming that's just one of your responsibilities here at SRO.
- 8:25So what do they have you doing throughout the weekend while you're here?
- 8:29Let me say two things.
- 8:30One, we don't have.
- 8:32invocation, a prayer at the beginning of our SRO races out on the racetrack.
- 8:37We don't do that.
- 8:38And two, Motorsports Ministries is not a part of SRO.
- 8:42SRO is a gracious, gracious host for us.
- 8:46And they support us.
- 8:47And they welcome us.
- 8:48I'm not in a position, and neither is Motorsports Ministries, to say
- 8:52we're going to have an invocation before the start of each race.
- 8:54Who are we to say something like that?
- 8:56And so we don't.
- 8:57Interestingly, there's another sports car racing series in our great nation
- 9:01that does have an invocation before that.
- 9:04And I'll go to another venue this summer as I did last year, and I will pray
- 9:09there will be the presentation of the colors and the Star Spangled Banner
- 9:13performed somehow or the other, either by instrumentally or someone will sing
- 9:17it, and then there will be an invocation and a prayer, and I was invited to
- 9:21do that in another venue in another.
- 9:24in our great nation.
- 9:25It's a wonderful observation and a great question to which I don't have an answer
- 9:29with respect to our SRO series because we don't do that yet every single race.
- 9:35So let's speak in generalities.
- 9:36What does a motorsports chap do?
- 9:38Yeah.
- 9:39Let's say, you know, across all the different disciplines of
- 9:41motorsports, I'm sure you're busy every weekend with different
- 9:43organizations at different tracks.
- 9:45So What are your responsibilities?
- 9:47Yeah, well, there's some time at home doing stuff, and that's preparing a chapel
- 9:51service, deciding what I want to do.
- 9:53Then there are logistical things that need to be done.
- 9:55Where and when is chapel going to be?
- 9:57We were fortunate this weekend, as I mentioned, I got to pray at the
- 10:01beginning of the driver's meetings, and that's where we talk, yeah.
- 10:04I got to mention the when and the where and tell everybody
- 10:06about them, which was fantastic.
- 10:07And then to advertise.
- 10:09I, you know, a lot of people resist using that word with respect to things,
- 10:13uh, ecclesiastical things to do with the church, but it is advertising.
- 10:16If I know ahead of time, when and where I can make these wonderful
- 10:19four color posters and put them out.
- 10:21And I only had one poster this time and it's between the men's room
- 10:25and the women's room over there.
- 10:26Well, but that's a good spot because everybody's going to, so many
- 10:29of the fans are going to see it.
- 10:30Now that's for the fan to reach out to them and let them know.
- 10:32Yeah.
- 10:32Cool.
- 10:33for the people on the inside.
- 10:35I mean, the drivers and the crews and all that stuff.
- 10:37I have mentioned it, like I said, three times at driver's meetings,
- 10:40but also we have this wonderful app.
- 10:42Do you have the SRO MA GT America app on your phone?
- 10:47And it's wonderful because, and it's free at the Apple store.
- 10:50So I don't think I'm giving away a, you know, a trade secret or anything.
- 10:53And you get all the notifications.
- 10:55You know, you see who's in trouble, and you get a picture of the penalty,
- 10:59you know, Tim Stewart got a penalty for causing a red flag or something.
- 11:02And so, I'd use it very judiciously, but I'd take a, a JPEG of the poster
- 11:07that I'm going to put out, make it the right size so it'll fit into the window
- 11:10on that app, and then send it out.
- 11:12So everybody who receives all that other information receives a color poster of
- 11:17when and where our chapel's going to be.
- 11:19So that's how I get the word out.
- 11:20At the racetrack, when I get to the racetrack.
- 11:22If I have posters to distribute, I'll do that like on a Thursday night or early
- 11:26Friday morning and just walk around and meet people and talk to people.
- 11:29A lot of the ministry is personal, relational ministry to see with people.
- 11:34It's neat.
- 11:35It's gratifying to be asked out in the paddock when I'm walking around
- 11:38to a pastor coming or Tim, I like Tim.
- 11:40Tim, it's worked for 69 years, so I prefer Tim.
- 11:43Tim, come and pray with us, and I love to do that.
- 11:45I'll walk on the grid, you know, and I'll just look at drivers and
- 11:48give them a thumbs up and say hi.
- 11:50You know, I don't want to be in anybody's way.
- 11:53I get it.
- 11:54They're in their office, they're working, and so I want to
- 11:56treat that in the right way.
- 11:58I pay attention at the race, and when the track goes silent, we either have
- 12:02a yellow flag or, worse, a red flag.
- 12:04And so at that point, I begin to focus my attention on the medical center.
- 12:09Sidebar, I'm going to try to see if my old Bearcat scanner that I took to NASCAR
- 12:14races, bring it here and let the fellas at the Racing Electronics trailer see
- 12:18if I can listen to the race control.
- 12:21And that way I'll know if there's someone being transported to the medical center.
- 12:25But pretty much now, you know, you can see the lights, you know, it's easy.
- 12:29And so I go to the medical center and see if, uh, I'm wanted or needed.
- 12:34I was there three times yesterday because we had people who were take the obligatory
- 12:39ride over to the medical center.
- 12:40So I do that.
- 12:42And again, it's just a ministry of presence and being with people and
- 12:45making myself and what I do available.
- 12:48You mentioned The advertising, you advertise, you put it in the app,
- 12:53which means the general audience can see it if they have access to the
- 12:55app, as well as the drivers, because you're also in the drivers meeting.
- 12:58Is there a separate service for the audience?
- 13:02Absolutely not.
- 13:03No, no, it's one service for, and in fact, on the bottom of the bill.
- 13:08poster.
- 13:08It says everyone is invited.
- 13:10It says it's a non denominational.
- 13:12I have a denominational affiliation.
- 13:14I prefer interdenominational service, but everybody knows what
- 13:18we mean by non denominational.
- 13:20And so, yeah, that everybody's invited.
- 13:21Everybody's invited.
- 13:22Going back to the medical center scenario that you painted there.
- 13:26Yeah.
- 13:26For those that are unfamiliar with the Christian faith, that's to be there in
- 13:30case you need to do last rites or laying on of hands or anything like that.
- 13:34Protestants don't do that, but we affirm two sacraments.
- 13:37In the Protestant Church, to only be real specific, in our Presbyterian Church.
- 13:41And it's, uh, the sacrament of baptism, whether it's an infant or an adult,
- 13:45and the sacrament of Eucharist, Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper,
- 13:49whatever language people want to use.
- 13:50That's it.
- 13:51So we don't have the unction at the end of life.
- 13:55We don't do that.
- 13:56You know, I'm not burning on that.
- 13:58I'm just saying, no, I just go to see if someone wants a prayer.
- 14:01My boss, Terry Borcheller, told me, I've used this line a hundred
- 14:04times, and it's absolutely true.
- 14:06He said, Tim, if you go to the medical center, and the drivers, or the
- 14:10driver, are, or is, okay, all you're going to find is an angry driver.
- 14:16And you know, he's about right.
- 14:17There's someone I saw yesterday, and I pulled out that story, and
- 14:21the driver, and I said, So, I called the driver by the driver's first
- 14:24name, and said, Are you angry?
- 14:26And the driver said, Well, yeah.
- 14:28But I'm angry at what happened.
- 14:29I'm angry at whatever this driver meant by that.
- 14:32But then there are some times that I see someone who, you know, I said,
- 14:35would you like to have a prayer?
- 14:36And so, yeah, absolutely.
- 14:38And so it's that driver and I praying that before family has
- 14:43come in and the medical people.
- 14:44It's very gratifying to see them fall silent.
- 14:46Sometimes they will bow their heads and close their eyes, not
- 14:49necessary, but they'll do that.
- 14:51But in other words, there is still some respect, even in this day
- 14:56and age of clergy difficulties and clergy getting sideways with
- 14:59the law and with the law of God.
- 15:01You know, there's still a wonderful respect that I see for.
- 15:05The church, not me, not Motorsports Ministry, not the Presbyterian
- 15:09Church, but the Church of Jesus Christ, and that's a good thing.
- 15:12So Motorsports Ministries itself is comprised of a collection of different
- 15:16clergy from different backgrounds as well?
- 15:18Yes and no.
- 15:19We have several different chaplains.
- 15:20Some are clergy and some are not.
- 15:22I'm one of the few.
- 15:25Motorsports Ministries was the brainchild of the late Richard Anderson.
- 15:29Richard died a few years ago.
- 15:31Terry Borcheller was a chaplain with Motorsports Ministries.
- 15:35And of course on the weekends he wore, to be cliche, he wore a cap and a helmet.
- 15:39You know, he was a chaplain and he was also out there, you know,
- 15:42battling it out on the racetrack.
- 15:44And when Richard died, we have a board of directors.
- 15:47The decision was to ask Terry, if Terry would consider if Terry would be the
- 15:51president of motorsports ministries.
- 15:53And he said, yes, of course, that's a lot more obligation, but Terry wasn't
- 15:57racing as much as he was in prior years.
- 16:01That's the Genesis and the current situation with motorsports ministries.
- 16:05And it's motorsports ministries address.
- 16:08Is Terry's house and then in Vero beach.
- 16:11So if there are other members of the clergy, priests, pastors, et cetera,
- 16:14that would be interested in doing what you did, you know, combining their
- 16:17passions, maybe they do have a background in motor sport or they're retired.
- 16:20They're looking for something new to do.
- 16:22Are there opportunities to join up with motor sports ministry?
- 16:25Eric, that's above my pay level.
- 16:27I don't know the answer to that.
- 16:30Certainly a call to or a communication with Terry Borcheller.
- 16:35So if people wanted to find out more about Motorsports Ministries, do you all
- 16:39have like a social media or a website or anything like that where someone
- 16:43could go to find more information?
- 16:45No, our website has been in the oven for many months now and again, I don't
- 16:51want to veer outside my lane, but no, but no, we have a Facebook presence
- 16:55and we don't do any other social media.
- 16:58Terry's racing this weekend.
- 17:00My boss.
- 17:00Yeah.
- 17:01Terry's driving the number 21, uh, super in GT four and
- 17:04his co driver is Nick Shanny.
- 17:07Yeah.
- 17:07Terry's out there.
- 17:08Not right this minute, but he's out there on the racetrack.
- 17:10So you talk about your love for motor sports, always downs
- 17:13to stock car and drag racing.
- 17:15Have you ever had any aspirations of being a driver or is it just
- 17:18for the love of cars in general?
- 17:20That's a good question.
- 17:20I had the privilege of doing skip barber racing school twice.
- 17:24I did the elementary school, what the beginning school.
- 17:27And I did the advanced school.
- 17:28I did both of them on the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway.
- 17:33Our first school, we were able to use the full 24 hour course.
- 17:37When I went back for the second school, we were doing it at the
- 17:40same time that NASCAR was testing.
- 17:43And so I can legitimately say, That, yeah, I was driving a race car on
- 17:47track the same time Jeff Gordon was.
- 17:49But of course, we're in the infield, just in the infield course, and I'd
- 17:53be driving in the infield, looking up on the high bank, and there
- 17:55goes number 24, the rainbow car.
- 17:57And so, uh, I like to tell people that when my Skid Barber experience
- 18:01was all said and done, my instructors told me not to quit my day job.
- 18:06No, I have no aspirations because I don't have the chops to do that.
- 18:10I don't have the gifts.
- 18:11I have the love, but I don't have the gifts.
- 18:13But I have to admit that after finishing the Skip Barber school and I live in
- 18:17Florida, so we don't have a lot of twisty roads, but today coming from the hotel
- 18:21to the racetrack in the past three days, doing that, I kind of look for apexes.
- 18:25But the thing is, you can't, you know, it's talking about staying in your lane.
- 18:27You kind of got to do that because there might be somebody coming the other way.
- 18:30But no, no aspirations, and I'm not a gearhead.
- 18:33I have a neat little Audi TT that has some aftermarket stuff under the hood.
- 18:38My wife bought that car for me and gave that car to me.
- 18:40It's an old Audi.
- 18:42It has been tweaked by a company called APR.
- 18:44You know APR?
- 18:44Okay, it's got some APR.
- 18:46It's got a stage 3 kit and, uh, I can say those things.
- 18:49Mine makes 396 horsepower.
- 18:51She is a demon.
- 18:52And it's wonderful.
- 18:53I'm an old man and someone said, have you taken it to the racetrack
- 18:56for one of those track days?
- 18:57No, because my car is 18 years old.
- 18:59It's a 2004 car and that means everything's 18 years old.
- 19:03To go to Sebring and to drive and to go down the Alderman Strait and no
- 19:06one's gonna be driving that without the accelerator matted and go down from 16 to
- 19:1217 and the race car drivers I've talked to say no one has ever gotten turn 17 right.
- 19:17Ever!
- 19:18Ever.
- 19:18I don't know if that's true or not, but imagine going into turn 17,
- 19:21it's a right hander and the front suspension give way on that old car.
- 19:25Who knows what could happen?
- 19:27You know, the car has no roll cage, no protective stuff.
- 19:30So no, no, that would not be wise on my part to do something like that.
- 19:35So long answer to a short question, but I tend to do that.
- 19:38So you mentioned before your boss, Terry is here.
- 19:40He's running as part of the SRA motor sports weekend.
- 19:43So he doesn't have you turning wrenches in the paddock, huh?
- 19:45Oh my word.
- 19:46No.
- 19:49No.
- 19:49Since you brought it up many times before, what's the connection to Audi?
- 19:53What gets you excited about that?
- 19:54How did you get into that?
- 19:55I know how I got into Audis growing up in a VW Porsche Audi
- 19:58family and watching Group B rally and things like that as a kid.
- 20:01So where's your connection?
- 20:02You know, that's a, that's a good question.
- 20:04When Audis were ruling the roost, Alan McNish, and Dindo Capello, and Mr.
- 20:10Lamont, Tom Christensen.
- 20:12Yeah, back in those days, I was kind of thinking, man, this car wins everything.
- 20:16You know, kind of like the Green Bay Packers won everything, and
- 20:19the Jeff Gordon wins everything.
- 20:20You know, there's sometimes a kind of animus that can be built up against that.
- 20:24But then, I don't know exactly what the deal was, except that we bought an Audi.
- 20:29We used to have just two door cars.
- 20:31And so we bought an adult car, and it was an Acura, and we sold that to our
- 20:36child, and bought an Audi, an A6, and it was a 2014, we didn't buy it new, but
- 20:41anyway, so I became an Audi owner, so that probably was it, and then there's
- 20:45this place in Port Charlotte, Florida, called Avenue Garage, they're the best
- 20:48in the world, and that's where we have had our cars serviced for 15 years, maybe
- 20:5320 years, and the owner, Kurt, amazing black Audi TT coupe, not a convertible.
- 21:00I'm not a convertible guy.
- 21:01And every time I'd go, I'd say, is that all broke down Audi for sale yet?
- 21:05And he would always say no.
- 21:06But this one time I went to get my car service.
- 21:09I asked him that he said, well, yeah.
- 21:11And so we talked about it.
- 21:13Long story short, he said, make an offer.
- 21:15I did.
- 21:16I didn't hear from him.
- 21:17So I figured he had decided not to do it because he had added all that APR stuff.
- 21:21It was kind of his baby.
- 21:23I didn't know that my wife had involved herself in the conversation.
- 21:27And so on Christmas day, 2012, we had guests at, you know, two
- 21:33or three o'clock or something.
- 21:34And so I helped clean up.
- 21:35I was doing dishes.
- 21:36And my wife went outside, and she came back in and she said, Tim,
- 21:41can you come show me how to turn the Christmas lights on outside?
- 21:44I remember saying, OK, sweetheart, I'll be right there.
- 21:47She remembers me saying something like, Can't you see I'm washing the dishes?
- 21:51She was probably right.
- 21:53Anyway, I went outside and in our driveway was that Audi with a big red bow, you
- 21:59know, like 18 inch bow on the windshield.
- 22:02She bought that car and gave it to me.
- 22:04You know, it's just, it just went from there.
- 22:05And then so I've watched races.
- 22:07I'm an Audi owner.
- 22:08So guess what?
- 22:09I'm an Audi and now Audi's, you know, is exiting.
- 22:12The sports car world, I understand.
- 22:14I'm not talking about the LMDH stuff and all that kind of thing.
- 22:16Supercars and whatever.
- 22:18I'm talking about GT cars.
- 22:20And of course, we don't have any.
- 22:21We have a few.
- 22:22There's Tom, you know, the car number 930.
- 22:24Big Audi found.
- 22:25I don't know why.
- 22:25We're members of this little Audi club in our part of the world.
- 22:29And go to Audi dealerships and get a swag bag and some information
- 22:33about new cars that are coming out.
- 22:35Okay, so if you could be a chaplain at any track, what would For the weekend, spend
- 22:40the weekend at any, any of these amazing tracks that we've got around the world.
- 22:43Where would you do service?
- 22:45You know, that's a wonderful question.
- 22:47I'm the most boring person in the world.
- 22:50Just ask my wife, we'll do something.
- 22:52She said, well, you're no fun.
- 22:53I said, sweetheart, I told you that 30 years ago.
- 22:55My needs are so easily met, but the bucket list, the real answer should
- 23:00be something like spa or Lamont or the Nürburgring, boy, that's it.
- 23:05I'm way too open with people.
- 23:07I have a fear of flying.
- 23:08There's not a chance in this world.
- 23:10I'd get on an airplane and fly across the ocean.
- 23:12And that's a horrible thing for a person of faith to admit shame on me.
- 23:17But flying, you know, my wife will say, you know, when it's coming up on a race
- 23:21weekend and I'm packing, she'll say, you excited about going, I'll say, no, I'm
- 23:26not excited about going or coming, but I'm excited as heck about being there.
- 23:31So, my need is, my bucket list need is met.
- 23:35You know what my bucket list would be?
- 23:37I'll tell you what it would be.
- 23:39It would be to have this room full of people for a chapel service.
- 23:42That's it right there.
- 23:43Irrespective of the venue, to have a room full of people for a chapel service.
- 23:48That would be the coolest thing.
- 23:49It's not about numbers, I don't mean to imply that, but it would be cool.
- 23:53Well, on that note, Pastor Tim, it has been an absolute pleasure to get This side
- 23:58of motor sports sometimes overlooked, but it's part of the larger ecosystem here.
- 24:02Sometimes, you know, the big Rue Goldberg machine that makes
- 24:05these weekends successful, right?
- 24:06There's so many different pieces and facets to the motor sport
- 24:09weekend, and you're one of those.
- 24:10And that's why I wanted to talk to you about your corner of the
- 24:12motor sports world, what you're doing with motor sports ministries.
- 24:15And we can't thank you enough for coming on the show.
- 24:17It's been a pleasure.
- 24:17An absolute pleasure.
- 24:19Thank you guys.
- 24:20This was fun.
- 24:20Thank you.
- 24:26For those of you still tuned into this episode, we want to first thank you for
- 24:31your continued support and let you know that in the second half of this episode,
- 24:35we have a live in service recording from one of Pastor Tim's Motorsports Ministries
- 24:40Sunday morning meetings for worship.
- 24:42Understanding that our listeners come from different faith communities
- 24:45and backgrounds, you have the option to stop listening now as
- 24:49you've already reviewed the majority of the content for this episode.
- 24:52But we also invite you to stick around and sample what a Sunday
- 24:56service is like trackside.
- 24:58Please note that the service will commence momentarily.
- 25:01Good
- 25:12morning.
- 25:12Good morning.
- 25:15Clock is not ticking yet.
- 25:17And so what I normally do, well, of course, it doesn't matter.
- 25:20Got a mic on.
- 25:20I sit out here with the folks, you know, if we had a room full of people.
- 25:25Morning.
- 25:26Remember the old churches that had that wooden rail across
- 25:28the, before the, the front pew?
- 25:30Remember that?
- 25:31That's called a privacy rail.
- 25:33And so people kind of liked it.
- 25:35Yeah.
- 25:35I thought it was a kneeling rail.
- 25:37Oh, no, no, no.
- 25:38It's, it's just, it's like a fence, like a wall, like a wall, yeah.
- 25:41And then behind that is a kneeling rail, of course, at every pew, at every row.
- 25:45You know, when we ordain and install people in our church as
- 25:48officers, if they've never been ordained before, they kneel and we
- 25:52lay on hands and pray over them.
- 25:54And I tell them, you know, if your doctor says you have no
- 25:57business kneeling, don't do it.
- 26:00But if you do want to kneel, we've got some people right here
- 26:02to help you get you back up.
- 26:04Non linear digital audio editing, right?
- 26:06Is that what it's called?
- 26:07So you can put it all, yeah.
- 26:08Remember the days before that when you had to actually, no, you guys are too young.
- 26:12People had to cut tape and, and, er, yeah.
- 26:15Yes it is.
- 26:18This may be us, but that's okay.
- 26:20Let's have a prayer.
- 26:21Gracious Lord.
- 26:21Thank you for this gorgeous day.
- 26:22Holy smokes.
- 26:23What happened overnight?
- 26:24It's uh, not chilly, but comparatively speaking it is but we thank you for that.
- 26:29What a breath of fresh air So be with the folks today.
- 26:32Oh God as we enjoy ourselves.
- 26:34We have people here who are spectators coming for fun And we
- 26:37have people whose business this is and everything in between.
- 26:40So I pray that you would protect anyone, oh God, who is here for whatever reason.
- 26:44May we have a good time, a good fellowship.
- 26:46May, uh, people meet other people whom they've not met before and
- 26:49begin at least an acquaintance.
- 26:51Who knows?
- 26:51Maybe even things like that will blossom into a friendship and that's a good thing.
- 26:55Oh, thank you for the opportunity to set apart a few minutes and
- 26:58have a Christian chapel service.
- 27:00Thank you, oh God.
- 27:00Thank you for the fellows, oh God, who are here to help promote GT racing
- 27:04and even this particular flavor of GT racing that we're doing this weekend.
- 27:08Bless us and keep us, oh Lord.
- 27:10Cause your face to smile on us.
- 27:11In Christ's name we pray.
- 27:12Amen.
- 27:13Are you guys going to stay for a communion?
- 27:17If you have time.
- 27:18So the answer is yes, if you have time.
- 27:20All right, then let's get her going.
- 27:21I wanted to do just a devotion that had relativity with respect to communion.
- 27:26There's a great story.
- 27:27Think back to Easter day, Jesus has been raised from the dead and people are
- 27:32excited and some people have actually seen him on all that sort of thing.
- 27:35Sometimes.
- 27:36We read scripture and just let the scripture speak to us without
- 27:39having to say a whole lot about it.
- 27:41I may say a thing or two, but listen to this wonderful
- 27:43story from the gospel of Luke.
- 27:45It's the story of the pilgrims on the road to Emmaus.
- 27:49And so here, listen to the word of the Lord.
- 27:51On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices
- 27:54they had prepared and went to the tomb.
- 27:56They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they
- 27:59didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus.
- 28:01While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed
- 28:05like lightning stood beside them.
- 28:06In their fright, the women bowed down with their faces to the ground,
- 28:10but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead?
- 28:13He is not here.
- 28:14He is risen.
- 28:15Remember how he told you while he was still with you in Galilee?
- 28:18The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified,
- 28:22and on the third day be raised again.
- 28:24Ah, then they remembered his words.
- 28:26When they came back from the tomb, they told all these
- 28:28things to the eleven disciples.
- 28:30Eleven?
- 28:30I thought there were twelve.
- 28:33Yeah, Judas is dead.
- 28:34That's exactly right.
- 28:35Judas is dead.
- 28:36It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary, the mother of James, and the others
- 28:40with him who told this to the apostles.
- 28:42But they, the apostles, didn't believe the women.
- 28:44Imagine that.
- 28:45Because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
- 28:47Imagine that.
- 28:48Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb.
- 28:50Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and
- 28:53he went away wondering to himself, what in the world has happened?
- 28:56Now, on that same day, this is still Easter day, uh, two of them,
- 29:00now we're not talking about two of Jesus eleven disciples, we're just
- 29:03talking about two other followers.
- 29:05Two were going to a village called Emmaus, which is about seven miles from Jerusalem.
- 29:10They're walking, seven miles, they've been in Jerusalem and
- 29:13they're walking home, okay?
- 29:15They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
- 29:17As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself
- 29:21came up and walked along with them.
- 29:23But they were kept from recognizing him.
- 29:25If Jesus were a Southern boy like him, he'd say, Hey, y'all wait up a minute.
- 29:29And so Jesus caught up with him and walked, but they didn't know who he was.
- 29:33Interestingly, the scripture says they were kept.
- 29:36From recognizing him, some will say that it was the Lord God who was keeping them
- 29:42from recognizing him until the right time.
- 29:45Some say just in their grief that sort of clouded their understanding and they were
- 29:49just so burdened with grief that they were kept from recognizing him because of that.
- 29:53I go with the former, frankly.
- 29:55Jesus asked them, what are you discussing as you walk along?
- 29:59And they stopped dead in their tracks, their faces downcast.
- 30:02One of them named Cleopas asked him, Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem
- 30:07who does not know the things that have happened in these last days?
- 30:10What things Jesus asked?
- 30:11Jesus is just, you know, setting the hook.
- 30:14What things Jesus asked?
- 30:16About Jesus of Nazareth, they replied.
- 30:18He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
- 30:22The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death.
- 30:26And they crucified him.
- 30:28But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.
- 30:31And what is more, it's the third day since all of this took place.
- 30:35What's important about that?
- 30:36But Jesus had said, you know, destroy this temple and three days later.
- 30:40And so they knew something about three days, but it's been three days.
- 30:43It's Sunday, it's Easter Sunday.
- 30:45To their knowledge, nothing has happened because they weren't, you
- 30:48know, a part of the people in Jerusalem who were able to witness the Lord.
- 30:51They continue.
- 30:52In addition, some of our women amazed us.
- 30:54They went to the tomb early this morning, but didn't find his body.
- 30:57They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels
- 31:00who said that he was alive.
- 31:02Then some of our companions went to the tomb, and found it just as the women
- 31:06had said, but they did not find Jesus.
- 31:08The companions were, of course, Peter and John.
- 31:11And John talks about, in his gospel, about running toward the tomb.
- 31:16Peter set out first, and John followed, and John got to the tomb.
- 31:20Remember what he did?
- 31:21He bent down and he looked in.
- 31:23But Peter, the impetuous one, when he, finally got to the
- 31:28tomb, he went right inside.
- 31:29Right inside and looked around, you know, that's a, that's just a great story.
- 31:33Finally, after hearing all of this, Jesus said to them, how foolish
- 31:38you are and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken.
- 31:42Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?
- 31:45And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, in other words, all the way
- 31:49back through the Old Testament, Jesus explained to these two what was said in
- 31:53all the scriptures concerning himself.
- 31:55The seven miles are about up, and as they approached the village to which
- 31:58they were going, Jesus continued on as though he were going further.
- 32:03And so they said, Wait, stay with us, for it's nearly evening.
- 32:07The day is almost over.
- 32:09So Jesus went into their house to be with them.
- 32:12You know, these two men on the road to Emmaus, or two people on the road to
- 32:15Emmaus, we know one of them has a name, and it's Cleopas, and that's a male name.
- 32:19The other person's not named.
- 32:21A lot of people think these are two fellas.
- 32:23I don't.
- 32:24I think it's a husband and wife.
- 32:26Because they go into the house where they live.
- 32:28That's not to say that, you know, people of the same sex
- 32:31can't, you know, share a house.
- 32:33But I think they're husband and wife.
- 32:35Plus, they don't mention the other person's name.
- 32:37And of course, in this day and age, a woman was not the same status as a male.
- 32:42And so that for my money, Cleopas and his wife are the
- 32:46ones who were joined up by Jesus.
- 32:48And they said, come on inside.
- 32:49And Jesus went in with them.
- 32:51When he was at the table with them.
- 32:53So they did what you did in that part of the world and that you fed someone a meal.
- 32:58Yeah.
- 32:58Now listen to this.
- 32:59What's this sound like?
- 33:00When he was at table with them, they're just eating.
- 33:02He's at two new acquaintances house and they're just eating.
- 33:05He took bread.
- 33:07He gave thanks.
- 33:08He broke it and he began to give it to them.
- 33:11What's that sound like?
- 33:13Communion!
- 33:13Sounds exactly like the words that you hear, that we all hear, or some of
- 33:18us get to speak in a worship service, and we'll hear it in a few minutes.
- 33:22Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
- 33:25And then he disappeared from their sight.
- 33:28Interesting choice of words.
- 33:30It doesn't say that he got up and excused himself and said,
- 33:33See y'all later, I gotta split.
- 33:35He disappeared from their sight now remember this is the risen Lord, and
- 33:39it was an interesting existence There are books about all of this that won't
- 33:42try to bore you with anything, but Jesus has his heavenly body after the
- 33:47resurrection But of course he hung around because the ascension wasn't
- 33:51for 40 days and so for 40 days Jesus was walking around in this interesting
- 33:57brand new body that The scriptures say we will receive one of these days.
- 34:02Anyway, he disappeared.
- 34:04And they asked each other, Were not our hearts burning within us?
- 34:08You know, burning in the Bible sometimes is not a good thing.
- 34:10But sometimes it is a good thing.
- 34:12Like a passion.
- 34:13A good sort of passion.
- 34:14This is a good one.
- 34:15Were not our hearts burning within us?
- 34:17While he talked with us on the road and did what?
- 34:20And opened the scriptures to us.
- 34:23Weren't our hearts burning when we heard the voice of the Lord and
- 34:27when he opened the scriptures to us?
- 34:30They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem.
- 34:33How far is that?
- 34:34Seven miles they walked seven miles home.
- 34:36They had this amazing experience, which I would imagine was a fairly Energizing
- 34:41experience and they said we got to go we got to go back and and and be a part
- 34:45of all of this And share our story and hear the other people's stories there.
- 34:49They found the 11 And those with them assembled together and saying, it's true.
- 34:54The Lord Jesus has risen and he has appeared to Peter.
- 34:58Then the two told what had happened on the way to Emmaus and how Jesus was recognized
- 35:03by them when he broke bread with them.
- 35:06You know, that's a great story.
- 35:07Doesn't need a lot of attention and a lot of, you know, it doesn't
- 35:10need me to explain it at all.
- 35:12That's for darn sure.
- 35:13But there are some things that we can take out of that.
- 35:15It certainly sounds like when Jesus took bread and he blessed it and
- 35:18he broke it and he gave it to them.
- 35:20Certainly sounds like communion.
- 35:21It wasn't.
- 35:23It wasn't, it was just a meal, but maybe Luke, when he wrote
- 35:26that, you know, fashioned it in a way who, you know, remember Luke
- 35:29wasn't, wasn't, it was his gospel.
- 35:31He was writing this up, but he wasn't standing there watching it.
- 35:34So he had to hear about it from someone.
- 35:36And so maybe he heard about it from Cleopas and his wife, who knows.
- 35:39And then I think the salient part is when they said how our hearts burned
- 35:44within us, when we heard his words.
- 35:47And you know, right now today, and I'm not going to talk about other
- 35:50people's experiences, but I've never experienced the Lord speaking
- 35:55to me in an audible voice, like you're hearing my voice right now.
- 35:59But people have said that and they claim that and I affirm that God is
- 36:03God and God can do whatever God wants to do with respect to, you know,
- 36:07communicating with God's people.
- 36:09You know, typically when I say to someone, well, the Lord spoke to me, I'm talking
- 36:13about a feeling that I feel in my bosom.
- 36:15that I really feel the power and presence of God's spirit.
- 36:19The power and presence of the spirit of Christ are prodding me.
- 36:22I believe that with all my heart, but I've yet to hear a voice in my head.
- 36:27Like you said, when we first walked, yeah, Pookie walked in the door and
- 36:30she called my name or something, and she said she Was afraid that I might
- 36:34think that was a voice in my head.
- 36:36No, it wasn't.
- 36:36No, it wasn't.
- 36:37No, it wasn't.
- 36:37You know, this is one of the passages of scripture that people use to talk
- 36:41about a service of Christian worship.
- 36:43I come from the Presbyterian tradition, which is a little more
- 36:46liturgical than some other traditions.
- 36:48That's not a boast.
- 36:49It's not a lament.
- 36:50It's just the truth.
- 36:52And our worship service does have, dare I say it.
- 36:55Structure.
- 36:56In the Presbyterian Church, there's a structure to the worship service.
- 36:59And the structure is the gathering.
- 37:01When people gather in the name of the Lord, and you have things like
- 37:04a call to worship, and an opening hymn, and an opening prayer, and a
- 37:07confession of sin, and an assurance of pardon, that's the gathering.
- 37:10And then following the gathering is the proclamation of the word.
- 37:14When scripture is read and proclaimed, preached about.
- 37:17And then there's a response.
- 37:19And sometimes the response involves the celebration of the sacrament
- 37:23of Holy Communion, the celebration of the Eucharist, whatever
- 37:26word someone is familiar with.
- 37:28That's what we're talking about.
- 37:30If in a church tradition like in mine, we don't do communion every Sunday.
- 37:34And some traditions, if you're a Roman Catholic or Episcopalian or Luther's
- 37:38communion is every Sunday, and I'd love to have it every Sunday, but You know,
- 37:42you get some blowback because guess what?
- 37:44It takes a few minutes longer, et cetera, et cetera.
- 37:46After the proclaiming of the word, there's a response to the word.
- 37:49Sometimes it's communion.
- 37:50All the time, it's usually that's when we, uh, hear from people about what
- 37:54the mission work of our church is.
- 37:56You know, like a moment for mission.
- 37:58Sometimes you'll see that in the printed bulletin.
- 38:00And of course, the offering is received during that time as well.
- 38:03A response to God's word.
- 38:04And then we have a prayer and then we sing.
- 38:06And then the last part, some people call it the dismissal.
- 38:09I prefer the sending.
- 38:10Dismissal says we're done, y'all go home now.
- 38:13Sending says go and do.
- 38:15Go and put into practice, out there in the world, what you feel you should do as
- 38:20a result of our fellowship together and our time spent listening to the voice of
- 38:24Jesus, metaphorically or maybe literally, or certainly listening to God's word.
- 38:28And then we go home.
- 38:29So that's what I wanted to share this morning.
- 38:32Just a devotion that kind of has relates to the sacrament to communion.
- 38:37And I want us to focus on, do our hearts burn within us when we hear the voice of
- 38:43the Lord and when scripture is opened?
- 38:46to us.
- 38:46When I say open to us, I don't mean it has to be interpreted by some clergy person.
- 38:51I mean, when we read scripture on our own and do our own devotion, when we
- 38:55read God's word, does it speak to us?
- 38:57You know, that's what Jesus was talking about.
- 39:00And that's what those two pilgrims were talking about.
- 39:03Didn't our hearts burn within us when he spoke to us and when he opened
- 39:08the scriptures to us, that's the thought I want you to carry with you
- 39:11today, it would have been better to.
- 39:14Put this day before yesterday because it was so blasted hot outside.
- 39:18But anyway, if you get cold today, think about your heart burning within
- 39:22you because of the words of the Lord.
- 39:24Alrighty, let's have it now.
- 39:25Is everyone going to stay for communion?
- 39:27You're cordially invited.
- 39:28As I said.
- 39:29At the driver's meeting, in my tradition, anyone who is a believer
- 39:32is invited to the table of the Lord.
- 39:35And so, I know that different faith communities understand communion
- 39:38differently, and I certainly don't want this to be off putting to anyone, but
- 39:42it is a Protestant communion service, and anyone who is a believer is invited.
- 39:47And some of these words may be familiar to you.
- 39:49I don't know.
- 39:50I want you to know that, oh, let me show you something.
- 39:52Half a dozen years ago, church supply places came out with something new.
- 39:58And we clergy thought it was the silliest thing we had ever seen in our lives.
- 40:02And it's a kit.
- 40:04You ever seen one of these?
- 40:05It's a communion kit, and at the very top is a clear plastic thingy that
- 40:10you peel back and expose the wafer.
- 40:12And then when it's time for the cup, you peel this little purple tab back.
- 40:15Be careful because, you know, you can spill it.
- 40:18And that's the cup!
- 40:19We thought, who in the heck would ever use something like that?
- 40:22And don't you wish you had bought stock in that?
- 40:24But then along comes COVID 19 and churches bought them by the truckload because they
- 40:29really work nicely and they're sanitary.
- 40:32And I want you to know also that in my tradition and this morning, the beverage
- 40:37that's in there is in fact grape juice.
- 40:39And that's important because if someone came expecting grape juice and it was
- 40:42wine and he or she was in a situation in life where that's not a cool thing,
- 40:46that would not be a cool thing at all.
- 40:48Alright, and we're going to do a very short Eucharistic prayer.
- 40:51I don't know if you know the responses or not, but in a church when, when
- 40:54the person up front says, the Lord be with you and also thank you.
- 40:58Okay.
- 40:58How about do we go a little further and lift up your hearts?
- 41:03Oh, you are so good.
- 41:04Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
- 41:08So let's pray.
- 41:09Blessed are you, O Lord, our God.
- 41:11You come with power to save us, destroying the works of the wicked.
- 41:14So we praise you, joining the song of the Universal Church and the Heavenly
- 41:18Choir, when we say together, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,
- 41:24heaven and earth are full of your glory.
- 41:26Hosanna in the highest.
- 41:27Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior.
- 41:29Jesus fed the hungry, cast out demons, healed the sick, liberated the oppressed,
- 41:34and extended your grace to all people.
- 41:36Remembering your goodness and grace, we offer ourselves to you with gratitude
- 41:40as we share this joyful feast.
- 41:42For great is the mystery of faith, that Christ has died, Christ is risen.
- 41:46Christ will come again.
- 41:47So pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon this bread and cup.
- 41:51Make us one in the body and blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
- 41:54Teach us truly to love our neighbors, honor every person,
- 41:57and tend to the needs of all.
- 41:59Through the Lord Jesus Christ, the unity of the Spirit, we bless you,
- 42:02God of glory, now and forever.
- 42:04So as our Savior has taught us, hear us as together we pray that familiar prayer.
- 42:10Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
- 42:14Amen.
- 42:15Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- 42:19Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts
- 42:23as we forgive our debtors.
- 42:24Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
- 42:28For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.
- 42:32Amen.
- 42:32You've heard the words a hundred times a year on the night that Jesus was
- 42:37arrested and betrayed in scripture.
- 42:39We read that he took bread and after giving thanks to the
- 42:42father for it, he broke it and he distributed it to his disciples.
- 42:46And he said, this is my body given for you.
- 42:49This is my body broken for you.
- 42:52Take.
- 42:52And then we read that during that meal that they shared together,
- 42:56Jesus poured a brand new cup and gave it a brand new name.
- 42:59And he said, this is the cup of the new covenant sealed in my
- 43:02blood for the forgiveness of sins.
- 43:04All of you.
- 43:06Jesus said all of you drink of it for as long as you eat this bread and drink
- 43:11this cup You proclaim the Lord's death until he returns sisters and brothers the
- 43:16gifts of God for the people of God You may go ahead and take the bread in the
- 43:21cup when you're served We don't have to wait till everyone is served Be careful
- 43:25the little clear one on top you peel back and expose the wafer Like I mentioned the
- 43:29purple one you peel back and expose the cup Jesus said, I'm the bread of life.
- 43:35Whoever comes to me will never be hungry.
- 43:37Whoever trusts in me will never be thirsty.
- 43:40The bread of life.
- 43:41Amen.
- 43:42Jesus said, I'm the vine and you are the branches.
- 43:45But if you cut yourself off from me, then you can do nothing.
- 43:48The blood of Christ, the cup of salvation, and let's pray.
- 43:52God of glory in this meal that you have made for us, you
- 43:55have made us one with Christ.
- 43:57And with that great multitude of the faithful, those who hunger and thirst
- 44:00no more and worship night and day in your temple, we are also one with them.
- 44:05Lead us in the paths of righteousness and guide us to the springs of the water
- 44:08of life until we join the choir of the redeemed saying salvation belongs to
- 44:13our God who was seated on the throne and to the lamb, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
- 44:18Amen.
- 44:19We forgot to pray for Dominic Darkweather.
- 44:22Had a crash yesterday in the, in the GT4 race, yeah.
- 44:25Went into the tire wall and tore, in the Supra, that's right, that's right.
- 44:28And I saw him in the medical center yesterday.
- 44:31And then, uh, I saw, I said the three, Samantha Tan and Sada?
- 44:35Is that his name, the Ferrari guy?
- 44:36And I can't remember who was driving the 93, I don't know if it was her or him.
- 44:41Okay.
- 44:42Okay.
- 44:43Yeah.
- 44:43And they were in and out of the care center.
- 44:45So, uh, y'all be careful out there.
- 44:47Don't let anyone hit you and don't hit anybody else.
- 44:52Yeah.
- 44:52Yeah.
- 44:52Yeah.
- 44:53Yeah.
- 44:53Yeah.
- 44:53If we were in church, you would hear the person say, like they did in the
- 44:57New Testament times before they left that upper room, they did what together?
- 45:00They sang a hymn.
- 45:01We're not going to do that, okay?
- 45:04But go in peace, serve the Lord, enjoy your day, go fast, and stay safe.
- 45:09Again, I'm an outtie guy, I'm an outtie guy, so I should be non
- 45:12partial, you know, but go outtie.
- 45:16And you all stay safe out there, and God has blessed you with a
- 45:19cooler day, that's wonderful.
- 45:21It's only going to be 140 in the car today.
- 45:23No problem.
- 45:26God bless you all.
- 45:27And I'm Tim Stewart and I represent that which I believe.
- 45:30I am privileged to do it through Motorsports Ministry.
- 45:32Thank you all.
