- 0:00You kind of women off this week, they're back in. Actually, on
- 0:03Sunday we had the Chicago, one of your favorite cities. It was beautiful
- 0:08wind trust to Ritam Tusky's a depall for the second time this year. Five
- 0:12thirty Sunday evening. Well, it's a five o'clock Central tip, but we
- 0:18go on there for Demini at five thirty Eastern for the pregame. You're here,
- 0:22Doug Bruno and you said you no pre game five o'clock tip. Well,
- 0:25five o'clock Central time tip, six o'clock in the year, yes,
- 0:29So if you're listening in the East, it's a five thirty radio pregame and
- 0:33then six o'clock game broadcast. I asked Bruno, I said, what who
- 0:38came up with that time? He said, not me? And he goes
- 0:42and I'm sure it wasn't you. I said it wasn't me. So that's
- 0:45when you realize that in order for games to be on TV, you have
- 0:49to play when they want you to play. That's right. This is when
- 0:52we want to show the game, not like, well we think it'd be
- 0:55really good if we played it this time. No, this is when we
- 0:58want to show the game. Yeah, be a Sports Network. I know
- 1:02Sunday, I know on a Sunday, I'm like this, I don't know,
- 1:04but so you get dinner at a game Sunday night for for the folks
- 1:10back home watching in Connecticut. Yeah, yeah, there, he'll be good.
- 1:12It'll be good. Geno Alee Edwards has been on fire. I mean,
- 1:15she has really picked up her game. Uh could be an interesting vote
- 1:19for Big East Player of the Year. I mean I think Page is the
- 1:22favorite, and but Elie is certainly making a run for it the way she's
- 1:26played lately. Yeah, I I don't quite know if, like on the
- 1:37women's side, they're sophisticated enough to give it to both of them and name
- 1:44the co players of the year. They did that once with Lewin Feet,
- 1:47didn't they did they? Yeah? I think so, Yes, thanks Anna.
- 1:52Yes, she's just gave thumbs up. I remember that surprise surprises the
- 1:56hell out of me. Normally they get all that stuff wrong. But yeah,
- 2:01I just think that you'd be hard pressed to go. You know,
- 2:07one of them has had a way better year than the other one in the
- 2:13conference in conference play, and they're both you know, spectacular in their own
- 2:20right, and they've both carried us for long stretches of games, and when
- 2:27both of them were on their game, we're a completely different team obviously,
- 2:32But for as many double doubles as a Lee has had in a short span
- 2:38too relatively, Yeah, I just think she's It kind of reminds me of
- 2:46when when Sue and Swin were both seniors and they were both the two most
- 2:53dominant players in the league. And it's kind of like that same scenario.
- 2:58You know, you've got, you know, whenever you've got a real good
- 3:02guard and a real good, you know, kid in the middle, that's
- 3:07that's a great combination to start with. And you know, that's that that's
- 3:14what's got to happen going forward. You know, we need both of them
- 3:16to be on top of their game. Is there a part of her game
- 3:20or something something intangible where she's really taken off this year. I just think
- 3:27she's been more consistent. You know, there's there's been a a lack of
- 3:32a huge drop off. Yeah, she had that February last year, but
- 3:38there was a great good reason for it too, you know, because there
- 3:39was even less playing less less players playing last season. Yeah, so there
- 3:45hasn't been a drop off. It's been really, really consistent. I think
- 3:50her her ability to get to get open, she's working harder. Uh.
- 4:00We've given her the ball more in the middle of the floor for her to
- 4:02be more creative and take advantage of certain things, and I think her jump
- 4:10shot has been more consistent lately. Yes, you know, if you watch
- 4:16our team, if you watch the way teams play us in our league.
- 4:19And you mentioned it in the Creating game. The minute the balls in the
- 4:24air and it goes to toutally three people run into the lane. Yeah,
- 4:28Debbie mentioned that. Yes, Okay, so the balls in the air and
- 4:30three people go in the lane. Yep. So the solution to that is
- 4:36the ball has to move boom boom, boom, and then it has to
- 4:42be move, move, move, and then passed into the post quickly.
- 4:46There was one pass I don't know Nika threw it or somebody. It was
- 4:49like from here to that table over there. She almost threw it from the
- 4:55logo to the and the ball looked like a fly ball to center field and
- 5:00by the time the ball landed, all five of Creighton's guys were in the
- 5:03lane. Right, So you know, we've done a much better job I
- 5:10think of getting her the ball before all the double teams come, and she's
- 5:15done a better job of getting a ball up on the rim before the double
- 5:17teams come. So I think, given that there isn't another big guy that
- 5:27has been able to take a lot of pressure off of her, you know,
- 5:30I still have a good game, and then to not have a good
- 5:32game, and uh yeah, I think what Ali has done has been really
- 5:38really really difficult and really impressive. Friday was a great atmosphere before the Senior
- 5:44Night festivities and annot standing game against Georgetown, and then Senior Night came and
- 5:47for the first time, program did it after the game takes a little less
- 5:51pressure rough trying to squeeze everything in. I'm not surprised that Page is coming
- 5:57back, just based on maybe about a month ago one of the pressers up
- 6:00at stores, she mentioned something, you mentioned something to the given the thought
- 6:06that she thought she might come back, But she didn't say anything else prior
- 6:11to Senior Night. Huh. She just kept reiterating what she said at that
- 6:16time that it's got nothing to do with where she's going to be drafted or
- 6:21what number or how much you know, everybody wants her to go or who
- 6:27wants her to stay. You know, she said, it's you know,
- 6:30I enjoy my teammates, I enjoy being at school here, I enjoy playing
- 6:34at Yukon. I enjoy the whole the whole experience. And I think that's
- 6:42the case for obviously, if we didn't have COVID, these kids wouldn't have
- 6:48the opportunity to do that. She would because she missed the whole season.
- 6:53But for the underclassmen, like on the men's side that leave, they there
- 7:00are going to be lottery picks and they're going to make a lot of money,
- 7:03or they they just don't care about school anymore and just want to leave
- 7:11and start making, you know, even a little bit of money. But
- 7:15on the women's side, if you know, if you have a chance to
- 7:19stay in college and play, unless you just had enough and say look I'm
- 7:24done, I've done what I need to do, I'm going you know,
- 7:27it's not going to the money is not going to be the deciding factor,
- 7:30you know. So I think she had more reasons to stay than to go.
- 7:39So I didn't know ahead of time, but the fact that she did
- 7:44it the way she did it, I thought was perfect. Mark Gino as
