- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Hi, I'm Kate Dresden, and welcome to Kate's Devotional Podcast.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I drop my podcast every Wednesday.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: It's always a five-minute or less devotional to bring you encouragement as we try
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: to live our lives according to the Bible.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: So glad you're here.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I saw a story on social media this week and I just had to share.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I know there are many of you who can relate to this story.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So this lady named Sarah, she goes into her endocrinologist office.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: She had a three o'clock appointment.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So they take her back to the exam room at 3.15 and the nurse tells her the doctor's
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: running a little late.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: How many times have we all heard that?
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Sarah had some long wait times in the past,
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: so she didn't think too much of it when the nurse said that.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: So she gets out her cell phone.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: She calls someone in her family to help pass the time.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And one thing leads to another.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's now two hours later, so it's 5.15.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And she notices that she doesn't hear any noise going on outside her room.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And so she gets off the phone, opens the door just a little bit, and hears nothing.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: So she ventures out and of course,
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: she has to turn on her camera so that she can film it for her social media account.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: But she realizes everybody's gone.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So obviously they forgot she was there.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: They didn't check the exam rooms before they left for the day.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know if that's ever happened to you or not.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Thankfully, I can say that I've never experienced being left in an exam room like that.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Now I have been left in an exam room for a long time or even in a waiting room for a long time.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And I started to wonder, have they forgotten about me?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: But at least there was still staff around.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So when I went out to say, is it going to be much longer?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: You know, at least there was someone to ask.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Well, being left in limbo like that for a long time is definitely the pits.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been forgotten while you've been waiting?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: What about God's waiting room?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been left there for what seems like forever?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've asked God for something and you're just still waiting on an answer.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it can feel like he's forgotten us and that we're waiting all by ourselves.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: But as you know, answers to prayers can take weeks, months, or even years.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: God's not on our timetable.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And I know we get impatient when we can't understand why God isn't answering right away.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: But I'm so glad that we're never forgotten.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: You know, we can't forget that his ways are higher than ours.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And we can't see the bigger picture with all the moving parts, but we know he's working for our good.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: You know, in Isaiah chapter 55 verses 8 and 9, I'm going to read out of the New King James Version.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: It says, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: For as high as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: and my thoughts than your thoughts.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: You know, we can be assured that he's never missed our prayer.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: He's not gotten too busy and forgotten about us.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: He's well aware of everything going on in our lives, and we can trust his timing.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So if you're waiting on an answer from God, don't give up.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Don't throw in the towel.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Keep bringing it up to him in prayer.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: But don't forget, we have to accept his answer, even if it's a no.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: or even if it's a wait.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: He's doing what's best for us.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: And I know it's not easy.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I know because I have a few answers I'm waiting on too.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: But God is good.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: So make it a great day.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And thanks for listening.
