- 0:07So, okay, like, imagine opening your mail, right?
- 0:10And it is, it is jury duty.
- 0:11They hand you this, this jury questionnaire, and it is all like,
- 0:14you gotta fill this out or you are in trouble.
- 0:16Legally in trouble, you know?
- 0:18Mm, yeah.
- 0:19It is totally mandatory compliance, right?
- 0:21Like, fill this line, answer these questions, do it right now.
- 0:25Yeah!
- 0:25But I am looking at it like, wait a second, man.
- 0:27Where is, uh, where is the questionnaire for, like, my miracles?
- 0:31You know what I mean?
- 0:32Like, where is the form where I list the things I actually survived before I answer
- 0:36your court questions?
- 0:37Right?
- 0:37Like, where is the paper that asks, hey, how did you make it through sixteen months
- 0:42straight of severe sleep deprivation and high heart rate emergency room visits?
- 0:47Exactly!
- 0:47I mean, I have survived, like, five or six near death experiences,
- 0:51man.
- 0:52A tractor accident, a crazy Pontiac accident, severe hives where my whole body broke
- 0:57out.
- 0:57But the system only sends me, like, a depression screening or a court summons.
- 1:02It is like, oh, we wanna give you an evaluation on depression.
- 1:06Okay.
- 1:06But where is the evaluation on how I actually survived all that wild stuff?
- 1:11It is so true, Justin.
- 1:13It is what people in healthcare call a deficit bias.
- 1:16Like, every routine intake form, every questionnaire from insurance companies or
- 1:22agencies, it is engineered exclusively to track what is broken,
- 1:27what risk factor you have, or what legal obligation you owe them.
- 1:31Right, they narrow it down!
- 1:33They wanna narrow everything down to, oh, are you depressed?
- 1:36Are you compliant?
- 1:37But they never narrow it down to, yo, how did you get through two nights in the ER
- 1:41with your heart racing?
- 1:41How did you keep going?
- 1:43And when you are navigating, like, real physical crises or total exhaustion,
- 1:48being handed a rigid form that only measures your deficits...
- 1:52it feels like systemic erasure.
- 1:54Like, all the unseen energy you expend just staying alive every single day is
- 1:59completely ignored by the form in front of you.
- 2:02It is crazy, right?
- 2:03Like, they say, oh, you did not respond to the jury questionnaire,
- 2:06you are in big trouble now.
- 2:07And it is like, really?
- 2:09I am the one in trouble?
- 2:11I just survived eighteen months of continuous sleep deprivation and physical
- 2:15turmoil, but I am in trouble because I did not check your little box?
- 2:19Yeah, the disconnect is wild.
- 2:20The institution demands this administrative box checking, while the actual human is
- 2:25doing incredible invisible labor just to keep their head above water.
- 2:29So, like, what if we just made our own form?
- 2:32Like, seriously.
- 2:33Before I fill out your jury stuff or your insurance assessment,
- 2:36where is my miracle questionnaire?
- 2:38I want to list everything, man.
- 2:39The vaccinations that hurt, the hospital visits, the close calls,
- 2:43even, like, surviving a UFO story if you have one!
- 2:46Honestly, that idea of a self authored miracle questionnaire connects so well to
- 2:50concepts in Narrative Therapy.
- 2:52Clinical screeners like the PHQ nine, they flatten your whole experience into a
- 2:57score.
- 2:57But if you create a counter inventory of your survival milestones,
- 3:01you rewrite the whole frame.
- 3:03A counter inventory!
- 3:04Yo, I love that term.
- 3:06So instead of, like, sitting there stressing because an agency wants me to evaluate
- 3:10my pain or my depression, I evaluate my endurance.
- 3:13I break it down.
- 3:14Right, exactly.
- 3:15You catalog the physical feats that no clinic tracks.
- 3:19Like, surviving an intense allergic reaction, or getting through a year and a half
- 3:25of relentless insomnia without throwing in the towel.
- 3:28It shifts you from a passive subject being evaluated for risks to the author of your
- 3:33own resilience.
- 3:35Yeah!
- 3:35Because, like, nobody comes up to you on the street and asks,
- 3:38hey, how did you survive all those close calls?
- 3:40How did you get through it?
- 3:41They just hand you a form for jury duty or a bill.
- 3:44So asking yourself those questions...
- 3:47it gives you your power back, you know?
- 3:49It really does.
- 3:50Instead of burning energy feeling angry at a bureaucratic intake sheet that does not
- 3:55care about your lived history, you give yourself a grounding psychological reset.
- 4:00You honor the miracles you actually lived through.
- 4:03Man, next time someone hands me a standard form, I am gonna tell them,
- 4:07hold on, check my miracle questionnaire first.
- 4:09See how well I answer that one.
- 4:11I love that.
- 4:12That is the real assessment right there.
