- 1:35Speaker 3: Its raised millions of dollars over the years and it
- 1:39Speaker 3: also creates thousands of winners. Like you said, everyone that

- 2:01Speaker 3: one hundred other prizes including cars, vacation homes, cash, electronics,
- 2:07Speaker 3: gift cards, all the things.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I've got to think that by now, because you know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: in your seventeenth year of doing the Dream Big Raffle,
- 2:13Speaker 2: it's got to be a pretty easy phone call to
- 2:15Speaker 2: get all these things right.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I mean, you have these incredible trips to give away
- 2:18Speaker 1: all over the world.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You've got these super cool, brandy beautiful vehicles, You've got
- 2:23Speaker 2: all these tech gifts, gifts from home, this gorgeous mansion
- 2:26Speaker 2: and Calabasas I mean, and the reputation of Special Olympics
- 2:29Speaker 2: Southern California. I'm thinking when you called, they're like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 2: we're in whatever you want.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We'll do it whatever you need.
- 2:35Speaker 3: We're very lucky that we have wonderful partnership that helped
- 2:41Speaker 3: make this fundraiser possible every year. And I will also
- 2:44Speaker 3: say we're very lucky to have so many supporters that
- 2:48Speaker 3: are willing to participate and buy tickets and enter for
- 2:52Speaker 3: that chance to win and also a chance to support
- 2:56Speaker 3: Special Olympics Southern California athletes. You know, with the Dream
- 3:01Speaker 3: Big Raffle, we're always trying to add new and fresh
- 3:05Speaker 3: ways to keep it exciting for participants so they'll want
- 3:08Speaker 3: to come back and support your year. Yeah, this year
- 3:12Speaker 3: for the first time. You can also purchase tickets through
- 3:15Speaker 3: SMS text message, which has been something that makes it
- 3:18Speaker 3: easier for people to participate. And then we still have
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know, lots of added bonus ways to win, So
- 3:27Speaker 3: we have early bird drawings, so our next early bird

- 4:09Speaker 2: Just go to the website for all the information. Honestly,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you're gonna be on there for a while because you're
- 4:13Speaker 2: not going to believe all the possibilities that you could
- 4:16Speaker 2: win when you see the list and all the gorgeous
- 4:19Speaker 2: pictures of these vacations and the cars and the cash
- 4:22Speaker 2: and all the stuff. So cal Raffle dot com is
- 4:24Speaker 2: the website, by the way, for the dream big Raffle.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So cal Raffle dot com. And then yeah, so it's
- 4:30Speaker 1: going on.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Now, what's our official we have until when it's constantly
- 4:34Speaker 2: every day you can buy every week. There's additional additional incentives.

- 4:49Speaker 2: I love the transparency of this contest too, because I
- 4:52Speaker 2: enter every year buy tickets, and I love it. Now
- 4:55Speaker 2: I don't need to call because before it was a
- 4:56Speaker 2: phone call. You give your credit card over the phone,
- 4:58Speaker 2: and you know, make sure it's verified person and your information,
- 5:01Speaker 2: keeping it private.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Now we can do the texting. I love that as well.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But at the end of all this, you release all
- 5:07Speaker 2: the names of every person who won everything, which got
- 5:10Speaker 2: me very excited.
- 5:11Speaker 1: All the Lisas that win I feel, I'm like, is
- 5:14Speaker 1: it mein Lisa?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Oh different Lisa, but no, very cool to see every
- 5:18Speaker 2: name of every person who did indeed win every prize
- 5:21Speaker 2: of the twenty eight hundred prizes. It's all right, there
- 5:25Speaker 2: on the website, that's.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Right, and go to Sokelraffle dot com to check to
- 5:29Speaker 3: see all the winners that we select. We also have
- 5:32Speaker 3: live drawings for each early bird and then the grand
- 5:36Speaker 3: prize drawing is live online, so you can watch in
- 5:40Speaker 3: whose names we pick.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're probably doing that, right, You're probably doing
- 5:44Speaker 2: that because you know you're you do the KTLA. You're
- 5:46Speaker 2: all over the TV commercials promoting this thing.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And there's Kelly Pond on TV. So proud, right, yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 1: so proud.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I get to do it. I get to do it
- 5:55Speaker 3: alongside some of our athletes who are really the stars,
- 5:58Speaker 3: so you know, so I would say that's who you
- 6:02Speaker 3: really want to tune in and watch because we usually
- 6:04Speaker 3: partner with some of our athlete leaders that will share
- 6:08Speaker 3: their story and how you supporting the Raffle goes to
- 6:11Speaker 3: help support them and their experiences with Special Olympics.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I love that.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Now I have to like set the date and make
- 6:17Speaker 2: sure I'm watching because I want to see you guys
- 6:18Speaker 2: do that live. And as you know, I've mentioned over
- 6:21Speaker 2: the years my cousin. My cousin has rubal palsy and
- 6:24Speaker 2: he's been a part of the Special Olympics up in
- 6:26Speaker 2: Northern California for a number of years and it's just
- 6:29Speaker 2: such a special part of our family. And I know
- 6:31Speaker 2: how much it means to the families of these athletes
- 6:34Speaker 2: because it's something that they look forward to and work
- 6:36Speaker 2: towards year round. It's not just about the summer games
- 6:39Speaker 2: or you know, things here and there. This is something
- 6:41Speaker 2: that they work hard for a year round and just
- 6:44Speaker 2: talk about you know, you, as a person who's been
- 6:46Speaker 2: with the organization for over twenty years, talk about that
- 6:49Speaker 2: connection and why it's so important for these athletes to
- 6:51Speaker 2: have Special Olympics in their life.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Absolutely, as we talked about before, I started as a volunteer.
- 6:57Speaker 3: And so one thing I'll say is for anyone out
- 7:01Speaker 3: there interested in a volunteer experience, I invite you to
- 7:05Speaker 3: come out to a Special Olympics event we have. We're
- 7:08Speaker 3: just kicking off our spring sports season, so there are
- 7:13Speaker 3: many competitions that are happening, likely in your community that
- 7:18Speaker 3: you can go out and support. Once you volunteer. You know, Lisa,
- 7:21Speaker 3: you're hooked. That's how I got hooked over twenty years ago.
- 7:26Speaker 3: And you know, a lot of people think that Special
- 7:28Speaker 3: Olympics is one big sport event, sporting event, but we
- 7:32Speaker 3: actually are providing programs to children and adults with intellectual
- 7:38Speaker 3: disabilities every day in every community. And we like to say,
- 7:44Speaker 3: you know, Special Olympics changes life through the power of
- 7:47Speaker 3: sport and so much more for a lot of people
- 7:51Speaker 3: that participated in sport. You know, sports is training for life,
- 7:55Speaker 3: and so a lot of our athletes are healthier, they're
- 7:58Speaker 3: twice is likely to be employed, live independently, and then
- 8:03Speaker 3: everyone else who's involved, their hearts and minds are open
- 8:07Speaker 3: to celebrating people for their abilities and not focusing on
- 8:12Speaker 3: the disabilities. It really just breaks down the barriers of
- 8:16Speaker 3: understanding and helps everyone just form meaningful relationships with people
- 8:22Speaker 3: with intellectual disabilities. And with our programs, you can go
- 8:29Speaker 3: out and whether it's you want to be a cheerleader,
- 8:33Speaker 3: a fan in the stand, just to go out and
- 8:35Speaker 3: cheer our athletes on that is super meaningful. You can
- 8:38Speaker 3: also play alongside our athletes, so we have programs called
- 8:42Speaker 3: Unified Sports where individuals with and without intellectual disabilities play
- 8:48Speaker 3: and compete together. Or you can coach or be a
- 8:51Speaker 3: team volunteer. So if coaching sounds a little like too
- 8:54Speaker 3: big of a commitment. You know, you can start the
- 8:57Speaker 3: team volunteer where you come out to pices and just
- 9:01Speaker 3: support the assistant coach and the coach and be a
- 9:04Speaker 3: part of the athlete's journey. We really could use more coaches.
- 9:09Speaker 3: That's something that we're always looking for so that we
- 9:12Speaker 3: can support more athletes than the experience and.
- 9:15Speaker 2: To start out at the cheerleader level is kind of
- 9:17Speaker 2: everything because you know, people to do this like woo
- 9:21Speaker 2: to folks who have worked so hard to get where
- 9:23Speaker 2: they are and to see how hard these athletes have
- 9:26Speaker 2: worked most of their lives and it's just something that
- 9:28Speaker 2: they strive for. It's what they live for often and
- 9:32Speaker 2: their families are so proud. It's a tough journey when
- 9:35Speaker 2: you have a child with intellectual disabilities and this is
- 9:38Speaker 2: like part of their greatest moments and to see it
- 9:41Speaker 2: all in front of your eyes and to see it
- 9:43Speaker 2: happen and the joy on everyone's faces is just so
- 9:46Speaker 2: so special. And whatever sports they're trying to win at
- 9:50Speaker 2: or just compete in, just the joy is really everything
- 9:53Speaker 2: to see them do it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: That's right. We have we talk about summer games, which
- 9:58Speaker 3: will be happening June fifth, sixth, and seventh at cal
- 10:03Speaker 3: State Longs each so we still have our Summer Games
- 10:06Speaker 3: is a three day event with that Friday night opening
- 10:09Speaker 3: ceremony happening in the Pyramid with some exciting entertainment, and
- 10:13Speaker 3: our athletes will be competing in fatchiball, basketball, track and field, swimming,
- 10:18Speaker 3: flag football. Leading up to Summer Games is when all
- 10:21Speaker 3: of the competition is happening in the communities across Southern California.
- 10:27Speaker 3: So between now and Summer Games, there's lots of activity
- 10:30Speaker 3: activity that people can go check out. You can see
- 10:34Speaker 3: the calendar of our events and competitions at SOOSC dot org.
- 10:40Speaker 3: That's where all of our competitions are on the calendar.
- 10:45Speaker 3: And then really fun special thing that's happening this year
- 10:50Speaker 3: after our Southern California Summer Games, we are also sending
- 10:55Speaker 3: a delegation of eighty athletes and coaches to USA Solyms.
- 11:02Speaker 3: USA Games is in Minnesota, and that's the last week
- 11:07Speaker 3: in June, I think June twenty first through the twenty
- 11:09Speaker 3: six there's we have athletes competing in seven different sports
- 11:14Speaker 3: and so we're really excited to have a large delegation
- 11:17Speaker 3: representing Southern California on the national stage.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 11:21Speaker 2: That's so cool and I can imagine too, you're probably
- 11:23Speaker 2: get excited for the Olympics coming to Los Angeles in
- 11:27Speaker 2: twenty twenty eight. I'm sure you're going to find some
- 11:28Speaker 2: ways to connect Special Olympics with that as well.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Right, that's right. We were talking about how because Special
- 11:34Speaker 3: Olympics Southern California has over three hundred events in any
- 11:39Speaker 3: given year, we're a great place that volunteers can get
- 11:44Speaker 3: warmed up and ready to volunteer for the twenty twenty Olympics.
- 11:49Speaker 3: So we've been having a lot of fun conversations about
- 11:52Speaker 3: how we can be supporting people and getting that energy
- 11:57Speaker 3: and excitement towards the Olympics coming to LA.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I love that.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I love it, And again, any anything you want to
- 12:04Speaker 2: learn and know more about their programs, like Kelly mentioned,
- 12:07Speaker 2: the Healthy Athletes Program, the Unified Champion Schools Program, Athlete Leadership,
- 12:11Speaker 2: youth leadership, so many programs in ways that they support
- 12:14Speaker 2: these athletes and their families, wealth and information. Right they're
- 12:17Speaker 2: on the website if you want to volunteer, get more
- 12:19Speaker 2: involved and see their event schedules all right there at
- 12:22Speaker 2: SOSC dot org, SOSC dot org and happening now through
- 12:26Speaker 2: May twenty second. A super fun way to raise money
- 12:30Speaker 2: and support their mission is with the dream Big Raffle
- 12:33Speaker 2: and super exciting. The odds of winning, I mean, I
- 12:35Speaker 2: don't want to say it might be better than odds
- 12:37Speaker 2: of winning a prize to the radio, but I mean
- 12:40Speaker 2: it's pretty dark good odds one in twenty five, a
- 12:43Speaker 2: twenty eight hundred prizes and maybe the grand prize of
- 12:45Speaker 2: that man to that beautiful mansion Calabasas.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That shows all the pictures.
- 12:50Speaker 2: You got to take a look at this on the
- 12:52Speaker 2: other website, the Raffle website, overlooking these sweeping Santa Monica Mountains,
- 12:55Speaker 2: the five thousand square foot custom home offering six bedrooms,
- 12:59Speaker 2: five baths, elevated craftsmanship throughout, it's just stunning. Your chance
- 13:04Speaker 2: to get in for all of it, one hundred and
- 13:05Speaker 2: fifty dollars tickets, and like Kelly mentioned, so many different
- 13:08Speaker 2: incentives and trips and electronic prizes and cars and cash prizes.
- 13:12Speaker 1: It's all right there, all the info.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Help them raise this money and support special Olympics at
- 13:17Speaker 2: so cal Raffle dot com. So cal Raffle dot com. Kelly,

- 13:23Speaker 2: I know we're going at radio. I'm not allowed to

- 14:09Speaker 3: a part of one of the vacation price packages, it
- 14:12Speaker 3: could be. You know, how you use some of the
- 14:15Speaker 3: cash prizes that are out there. A single ticket is
- 14:18Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty dollars, and then there's deals if
- 14:21Speaker 3: you buy multi tickets and all proceeds go to help
- 14:24Speaker 3: us cover the cost of things like facility fees, transportation, uniform,
- 14:29Speaker 3: sports equipment for our Special Olympics athletes.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And again specially in books Outhern California, it's a massive region.
