- 2:13Welcome back, Treasured Mama. It's Coach Kori here. and today we are talking about love.
- 2:20We are continuing this conversation about love and what it means.
- 2:26And today we are talking specifically about the story of the Bible.
- 2:32We're just going to dip our toes in the water and talk about creation and what
- 2:38this looks like in the first two chapters of Genesis in the Bible.
- 2:43And in the upcoming weeks, we're going to unpack this through the entire story of the Bible.
- 2:49But for today, I want you to grab your Bible if you have it handy,
- 2:54bring it up online if you'd like, or simply listen.
- 2:58We will be in Genesis chapters 1 and chapter 2.
- 3:02The story of the Bible is truly a love story.
- 3:07It is a story all about love. We see how Jesus exemplifies love.
- 3:14We get to experience through the art of storytelling how Jesus was love and
- 3:21how he loved us so deeply with that agape love.
- 3:26And it's fascinating because you can read the Bible in a couple of different ways.
- 3:32Generally speaking, you can read it through the lens or the perspective of,
- 3:38how do I see me in the Bible?
- 3:41Or what can I get out of the Bible?
- 3:45Or another way to think of this is, I'm going in the Bible to find some direction
- 3:51to get an answer for something that I need direction on. on.
- 3:55And although that's not all awful, it's even better to read it through the perspective
- 4:02of what can I learn about Jesus?
- 4:05Because when we look at it through that lens, and because we are created in
- 4:11his image, we naturally will get all the answers we're looking for with Jesus
- 4:17being the first fruit of our experience.
- 4:20And I encourage you, if you have never read the Bible, period,
- 4:25or if you've never read it through that lens of discovering Jesus and seeing Jesus in it all first,
- 4:34I encourage you to do it because it is so fruitful.
- 4:38It is so beautiful. And really, truly, the Bible is designed to share with us all about Jesus.
- 4:47So it is important that we read it from that perspective.
- 4:53Going back to love and the story of the Bible, having love all throughout it,
- 4:59it is just an exquisite, exquisite story.
- 5:03And it's interesting because when we look at it through that perspective,
- 5:09we are drawn closer to God as we learn about His love for people.
- 5:15We were created in His image. And this changes us when we learn how much God
- 5:22loves us and He placed His imprint on us because we are created in His image.
- 5:30We really, truly, deeply, and completely experience an inside-out transformation.
- 5:39I mean, think of this. We are imperfect sinners. Imperfect, absolute sinners.
- 5:45And God extends an invitation to partner with him in perfect relationship.
- 5:52That in itself teaches us so much about who Jesus is.
- 5:57Because if we looked at that statement of us being imperfect sinners invited
- 6:04into perfect relationship, we may think I'm worthy and it stops right there.
- 6:11However, when we look at the same statement of us being imperfect sinners invited
- 6:18into perfect relationship,
- 6:21and we look at that through the lens of learning who Jesus is,
- 6:26we realize how generous He is.
- 6:29And because we want to be like him we
- 6:32then know that we are called to be generous we are called to be forgiving we
- 6:39are called to see people for who they were designed to be not the behaviors
- 6:45they're exhibiting and that is incredible that is so powerful.
- 6:52Praise God for seeing us in that way and modeling that behavior so we can then
- 6:58model that to those we interact with and specifically our children so they are
- 7:05brought up in the ways of the Lord.
- 7:07This, beloved, is how we truly impact the next generation and create that ripple effect fact.
- 7:15Because when you begin to realize the Bible is a love story and Jesus has such
- 7:24a desire for us to love in the way that he does,
- 7:28we are drawn closer to God's heart.
- 7:31And that is where we experience that inside out transformation.
- 7:35Because here's the deal. He loves you and me and us. He loves us so much,
- 7:45so deeply, so perfectly.
- 7:49He will stop at absolutely nothing to rescue us and restore us because He wants
- 7:57to restore our relationship with Him.
- 8:00He wants to have that pure relationship that was His initial intention.
- 8:05When we dive into Genesis 1 and 2 and we are reflecting on the story of creation,
- 8:13we are exposed to this concept of our triune God.
- 8:19And this can throw a lot of people off because they think the Father,
- 8:23the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- 8:26And when they're exploring this, they think, okay, the Father is God,
- 8:31the Son is Jesus, the Holy Spirit, how does that fit in there?
- 8:38And I want to invite you to think of it as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- 8:48Just like I am Corrie the mother, Corrie the daughter, and Corrie the community member.
- 8:57They're all part of who I am.
- 9:00Corey, they're separate attributes for one person.
- 9:04So that would be a triune representation of who I am, just like our triune God
- 9:12is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 9:15You know, it is so important when we are looking at the Trinity,
- 9:20when we say our triune God, the Holy Trinity is another terminology that that I will use for that.
- 9:28And it's incredible because the Trinity was unified.
- 9:32The Trinity is a representation of loving unity.
- 9:37And God is so generous. He wanted to share that perfect, unified,
- 9:44beautiful, exquisite love.
- 9:46And that's why he created the world.
- 9:49He created the world so he could put this most exceptional love on display.
- 9:55The exquisite beauty that we see in the earth is representative of that.
- 10:01Look out right now or tomorrow and witness the beauty and the splendor of the sparkle in the stars.
- 10:09If you're by water, specifically an ocean, look at the expansive nature of the
- 10:14ocean or the open prairies or how everything works together synergistically
- 10:20when it is in its pure form.
- 10:23Each component has a unique way to contribute to the collective good.
- 10:29And that's how God has designed us.
- 10:31In fact, we are his most exquisite creation. We are his best creation.
- 10:40All the beauty that's on the earth. Mankind is his most phenomenal creation.
- 10:47I just had this conversation with one of my children.
- 10:51Actually, two of them were in on the conversation and one brought it up around,
- 10:56mom, when we're looking in the Bible, why does it say man?
- 11:01And they were were wondering where women fit into that equation.
- 11:04And I explained to them that man is mankind.
- 11:10And when we think of mankind, there are males and there are females.
- 11:16And that is where boys and men and girls and women come into play.
- 11:21So for you, when I say mankind, know that that is male and and female.
- 11:27That is man and woman, right?
- 11:31Woman is a man with a womb, so a woman can carry a child.
- 11:36And I love how when we look at what God has created and established,
- 11:41it all works together in the most beautiful, unified, loving way that only God
- 11:50could create because He is pure love.
- 11:54We look at the Bible now as a story of love, and we are drawn closer to God's
- 12:01heart for his people, which gives us that inside-out transformation.
- 12:06We know that God loves us so much, he will literally stop at nothing to rescue
- 12:13us and restore our relationship with him.
- 12:16And the triune God is such a perfect representation of loving unity,
- 12:21and because the character of our God is generous.
- 12:25He wanted to share that with us.
- 12:28First fruit capacity, which is all the beauty on the earth.
- 12:32And yet his most prized creation was mankind, male and female.
- 12:39In love, God created man in his image.
- 12:43Let's just pause there for a moment because I think that is absolutely fascinating.
- 12:47No matter how many times I hear it, the very creator of it all with his breath,
- 12:54creating you and I in his image, because he designed us in a way that would
- 13:00represent him in excellence.
- 13:03As kingdom ambassadors, we are called to represent him, to re-present him,
- 13:10to re-present his image so that somebody can be exposed to his goodness that
- 13:16may or may not have ever even heard of his name.
- 13:20You may be the only representation of Jesus Christ that somebody experiences.
- 13:26So it is important that we show up with excellence.
- 13:30In the Garden of Eden, back when God first created Adam and then Eve,
- 13:36he gave them the Garden of Eden and all of its beautiful expanse.
- 13:40He provided everything that they would ever need.
- 13:43And And furthermore, he delighted in their presence.
- 13:47And that was God's initial vision for us.
- 13:51And yet, the fall came.
- 13:54Sin entered the picture. And we're going to talk about that in the next episode.
- 13:59But today, I want you to really marinate on this.
- 14:04God loves you so deeply. He created you in his image as his most beloved creation.
- 14:14To represent him, bring heaven to earth.
- 14:19What a powerful invitation to receive.
- 14:23Will you accept it? Have you accepted his invitation?
- 14:26And are you representing him well? Heavenly Father, I thank you so, so much.
- 14:33You are such a good, loving God, and we are so grateful to be entrusted with representing you well.
- 14:42We thank you, God, for all that you are.
- 14:45We delight in your presence and we honor your name and give you glory.
- 14:50In your mighty name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
- 15:01Music.
