- 0:21Speaker 1: balt Moore Rivens, which takes place this Sunday at six
- 0:25Speaker 1: pm Ireland one pm Eastern. The game against the Ravens
- 0:28Speaker 1: is on Sky Sports NFL in Ireland in the UK
- 0:31Speaker 1: and OCB Sports Radio as well if you want to
- 0:33Speaker 1: hear the call from the local announcers and a big
- 0:36Speaker 1: shout out to them just for I bring in the
- 0:39Speaker 1: esteemed co guests. I was actually seen this morning that
- 0:43Speaker 1: this podcast was in the top twenty of football podcast
- 0:47Speaker 1: for Irish Sport. So big thank you to everybody who
- 0:51Speaker 1: listens to this podcast. We definitely appreciate it and on
- 0:55Speaker 1: that note, is fantastically welcome in the co hosts Jimmy
- 0:58Speaker 1: English and Donald McKee. Jimmy, first off, high you know.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I'm great mic, yet not a lot's changed since the
- 1:05Speaker 2: last time I spoke to you boys. The weeks are
- 1:07Speaker 2: flying in now where I believe somebody said today, we're
- 1:10Speaker 2: six weeks out for Christmas, and six weeks out from
- 1:13Speaker 2: that blockbuster game against the Chiefs on Netflix and Christmas Day,
- 1:18Speaker 2: still having it. I still haven't told my mother that
- 1:20Speaker 2: I won't be that We're gonna have to have the
- 1:21Speaker 2: dinner early to facilitate watching that game. So I'm looking
- 1:25Speaker 2: forward to that conversation, as I'm sure a lot of
- 1:27Speaker 2: Steelers fans are in Ireland in the UK. But before
- 1:30Speaker 2: we get to that, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
- 1:32Speaker 2: If you have the first I suppose the second test
- 1:36Speaker 2: of the season, the Commanders was the first test. This
- 1:39Speaker 2: is the first AARC Nord test and lucky lots to
- 1:43Speaker 2: look forward to, looking forward to to watching as christ
- 1:45Speaker 2: sports and looking forward to seeing what happens. I think
- 1:48Speaker 2: the Steeters have an excellent shot. They'd definitely be my favorites.
- 1:52Speaker 2: So looking forward to to breaking it down with you boys.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Coy here take it to the bank. At the end dialogue,
- 1:59Speaker 1: Jimmy sender a Christmas at about that game. You're told
- 2:01Speaker 1: me your family not knowing, Jimmy Dalveog, My wife doesn't
- 2:04Speaker 1: know that we actually might go to that game. It's
- 2:06Speaker 1: not confirmed it, but I might go because we're elier
- 2:08Speaker 1: what it says to the Christmas So if you're listening,
- 2:11Speaker 1: we're going to the game.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah, So dialogue has the.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Form how are you doing big, big few weeks? For true,
- 2:16Speaker 1: it seem an over Steelers fan in the moy yesterday
- 2:19Speaker 1: where everywhere.
- 2:19Speaker 3: That it's it's every We're absolutely everywhere like it's Candy's Run.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Is that I know obviously it's kindy down where the
- 2:27Speaker 3: original ruinies have come from, but it seems that it's
- 2:30Speaker 3: spreading the Candy's roun, you know, at a vapid rapid
- 2:33Speaker 3: pace if you like. But you're imagining they're getting to
- 2:36Speaker 3: go to that game. Imagine, imagine not for a Christmas present,
- 2:39Speaker 3: getting to watch the Steelers in Acroshure on Christmas Day.
- 2:43Speaker 3: That would be an absolute dream of mine. So, you know,
- 2:46Speaker 3: it's one of those things we can maybe look forward
- 2:48Speaker 3: as in the future. And I guess the challenges that
- 2:51Speaker 3: he chiefs as well. I mean, it's it's a pinch
- 2:53Speaker 3: me sort of game and looking at the way it
- 2:55Speaker 3: could be their first al of the season, the opportunity
- 2:58Speaker 3: that would give us would be amazing them. As Jimmy
- 3:01Speaker 3: has just said, keep it week by a week. I'm
- 3:03Speaker 3: happy where we're out the minute. I'm looking forward to
- 3:04Speaker 3: breaking in this game.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Looking forward to to hearing everyone's foults and comments across
- 3:09Speaker 1: social media this weekend at Steelers Ireland on x and
- 3:13Speaker 1: on Instagram and also in TikTok as Willy season we're
- 3:16Speaker 1: the funn videos where Staters players are guests in Irish
- 3:19Speaker 1: saynds this week. Yeah, looking forward to those games. But
- 3:22Speaker 1: we've got a big game come up this week against
- 3:23Speaker 1: the Ravens, and I guess just first off, Jimmy, before
- 3:25Speaker 1: we look into this Ravens team in detail, it's been
- 3:28Speaker 1: I mean, look, every season the AFC warf is unpredictable,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but this year I don't really think like I think personally.
- 3:36Speaker 1: For me, I thought the Steelers, the Ravens and the
- 3:39Speaker 1: Bengals by week eleven will be in the mix all together.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We've seen the Bengals struggling in certain games, like Joe
- 3:45Speaker 1: Burrows played some fantastic football. But I guess now as
- 3:50Speaker 1: we sit in the season, Steelers top of the AFC
- 3:52Speaker 1: nor for seven and two, Ravens stabling three and the
- 3:54Speaker 1: Bengals four and six, two and seven, Before we do
- 3:57Speaker 1: look at this game. It's our first AFC North, So
- 4:00Speaker 1: let's have a look at it a little bit and
- 4:03Speaker 1: have you been surprised to me on how this division
- 4:05Speaker 1: has went so far the season. Seaters obviously on a
- 4:07Speaker 1: four game winning streak, but we know how good the
- 4:10Speaker 1: Ravens look as well, and we see that in Fasian
- 4:12Speaker 1: at football last week. We'll talk about the reveals a
- 4:13Speaker 1: bit in the second But has it went away that
- 4:15Speaker 1: you'd expected the season so far?
- 4:17Speaker 2: I can't. I can't say that it has mixed, to
- 4:19Speaker 2: be honest with you. When the season started and given
- 4:22Speaker 2: our quarterback situation and a couple of perceived, you know,
- 4:25Speaker 2: gaps that we had across the roster, I honestly my
- 4:29Speaker 2: hopes for the Staters weren't particularly high. I would have, honestly,
- 4:32Speaker 2: at this stage of the season, I would have taken
- 4:34Speaker 2: third in the in the in the in the division.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Trying to try to get try to see that ten
- 4:39Speaker 2: times fast. No, I mean completely surprised, pleasantly surprised, and
- 4:44Speaker 2: I think, like I said, my expectations were quite low.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Obviously surprised by how how much the Bengals have struggled,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and obviously they've they've looked better in recent weeks, but
- 4:54Speaker 2: the fact that the Seeds are not only as sorry
- 4:57Speaker 2: that the Steers and Ravens. We are where we are
- 5:00Speaker 2: are in the division, we're also two of the top
- 5:02Speaker 2: teams in the AOC overall, two of the strongest looking teams,
- 5:05Speaker 2: some of the best performances to date. So that has
- 5:09Speaker 2: definitely been surprising. And I think this this this game
- 5:12Speaker 2: on Sunday, is really gonna give one of the other team,
- 5:16Speaker 2: one of the other teams in edge in terms of
- 5:18Speaker 2: overall AOC standings, and we'll we'll say a lot about
- 5:21Speaker 2: how the rest of the season is going to play out. Honestly,
- 5:25Speaker 2: it's it's for me. We're so evenly matched. In terms
- 5:30Speaker 2: of offense, I would say that the Ravens are almost
- 5:33Speaker 2: better on offense with some of the skilled players that
- 5:36Speaker 2: they have. They definitely have a lot more definite and
- 5:38Speaker 2: talent I think than we do, or maybe maybe it's
- 5:41Speaker 2: more highly highly explosive weapons at their disposal. Defensively, I
- 5:45Speaker 2: think I think we're a lot we're a lot better
- 5:47Speaker 2: and that with some of the pieces we have there
- 5:49Speaker 2: and our defensive performance and points allowed this season, and
- 5:53Speaker 2: there's a good chance that those two things make might
- 5:57Speaker 2: negate each other on Sunday. But look, the fact that
- 6:02Speaker 2: we are in the position we are in at the
- 6:04Speaker 2: in the AOC picture playoff picture, I think with the
- 6:07Speaker 2: third seed in the AFC conference playoffs as a as
- 6:10Speaker 2: a as of right now. But look, I'll take it.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I absolutely take it. And long may continue and look
- 6:19Speaker 2: it's gonna be it's gonna be an absolute slobber knocker.
- 6:22Speaker 2: On Sunday, I think, yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 1: That will just passes halfway point of the season, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: there was a number of games left to go, and
- 6:29Speaker 1: we obviously hope and expect that we're going to see
- 6:30Speaker 1: a team that can perform well and keep going down
- 6:34Speaker 1: the stretch. But this AFC Norph is nowhere near done.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And I think even if we were in the Bengals position,
- 6:40Speaker 1: we're not. But even if we were in the position
- 6:42Speaker 1: where they're playing good football, you still give usself a chance.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So there's a long way to go in the season.
- 6:47Speaker 3: There is MC it's it's as we've mentioned numerous times
- 6:51Speaker 3: on this podcast or at the weeks. I mean, the
- 6:53Speaker 3: FC North is arguably up there with difficult division in
- 6:56Speaker 3: football along with the NFC North. Think you know, if
- 7:01Speaker 3: you look at the teams we've We've mentioned the Bengals
- 7:03Speaker 3: of course that although they the I think they're for
- 7:06Speaker 3: and the foreign five for around five hundred. Yeah, they
- 7:12Speaker 3: don't play like a team that are like that. I
- 7:13Speaker 3: mean it's just the defense there is just ultimately letting
- 7:15Speaker 3: them down. I mean, we watched that game last weekend.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It was an absolute you know, after the game, it
- 7:21Speaker 3: was like four in the morning here and I could
- 7:22Speaker 3: barely sleep. I was not blown away. Bat. It was
- 7:24Speaker 3: an incredible game and it just shows the levels that
- 7:27Speaker 3: you have to perform here if you want to win
- 7:29Speaker 3: this division. And the Steelers we always are up there
- 7:31Speaker 3: no matter what, no matter who's under center, whether it's
- 7:34Speaker 3: Kenny Peckett, mister Biscuit, We're always fighting up for the
- 7:37Speaker 3: top of that division. And this weekend's it's one of
- 7:42Speaker 3: the weeks where we will circle as Steelers fans and
- 7:44Speaker 3: we say this is when we've got them. It's the
- 7:46Speaker 3: Ravens and especially the home game. We know what our
- 7:49Speaker 3: record against Lamar is. I think we've got I think
- 7:52Speaker 3: he's two and four. One of the worst Racers in
- 7:54Speaker 3: the league is against us, and I feel it's because
- 7:56Speaker 3: of that preparation actra level that we know how we play.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Is that sort of brings him down to our you know,
- 8:02Speaker 3: brings them down to you know, human level if you like,
- 8:05Speaker 3: because he plays obsoutely x down and against everybody else
- 8:07Speaker 3: so AFC or football November December time, you know, tough
- 8:14Speaker 3: as tough as you like. That's what I'm looking forward
- 8:17Speaker 3: to watching this weekend. And then yeah, it's it's really
- 8:20Speaker 3: a weekend where we all the Steers fans circle in
- 8:23Speaker 3: on on account we had to actually just tune in
- 8:24Speaker 3: on Sunday six o'clock feet up and watchers hopefully beat
- 8:27Speaker 3: the Ravens.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I think, just to jump in there and make as
- 8:31Speaker 2: well expectations this season versus last season or or it's
- 8:36Speaker 2: it's interesting because last season we felt a little bit
- 8:39Speaker 2: more hopeful with Kenny pickt Under under center, and then
- 8:42Speaker 2: obviously he got injured and there was the change of
- 8:44Speaker 2: quarterback and we didn't really expect to do anything playoff
- 8:47Speaker 2: wise until Mason Rudolph started playing exceptionally well and somehow
- 8:52Speaker 2: got us into the wildcard round. And then the quarterback
- 8:56Speaker 2: change has happened in the off season and we got
- 8:58Speaker 2: Justin Fields and Russell will and then I think, I
- 9:01Speaker 2: don't think anybody knew what to expect really with the
- 9:03Speaker 2: quarterback situation. But I think now, and I mentioned this
- 9:07Speaker 2: on Tuesday as well, We're starting to have a little
- 9:10Speaker 2: bit of faith. We're starting to slowly believe that you
- 9:13Speaker 2: know that we might be we might be down in
- 9:15Speaker 2: New Orleans in February. You never know what's going to happen.
- 9:18Speaker 2: So I just think, look, it's just there's definitely for
- 9:22Speaker 2: me anyway, as a fan, you never I think for
- 9:25Speaker 2: the past couple of years, you never know what to
- 9:27Speaker 2: really expect from the Steelers until we're a couple of
- 9:29Speaker 2: weeks in, and then I think we're finally seeing the
- 9:31Speaker 2: identity of this team come come into come into shape
- 9:34Speaker 2: since Russell Wilson has stepped in, and so look at
- 9:38Speaker 2: the time is now to finally lock in our lock
- 9:41Speaker 2: that in and start start wearing some big games as well.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna look at this big game in a
- 9:48Speaker 1: little second before we hear, just before we do that,
- 9:51Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin here
- 9:53Speaker 1: bringing on and looking ahead to this Reevens game on
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Irish Steers podcast.
- 10:00Speaker 4: See on the Baltimore. It's really cool to be in
- 10:02Speaker 4: these games, not because it's them, but because of their
- 10:06Speaker 4: good team. This time of year, you want to be
- 10:11Speaker 4: leaning on, leaning in on five star matchups and being
- 10:14Speaker 4: a component of it. You're in five star matchups not
- 10:17Speaker 4: only because of the quality of people that you're playing,
- 10:19Speaker 4: but also what you've done. And uh, we respect that
- 10:22Speaker 4: component of it, and we're excited about that component of it,
- 10:24Speaker 4: and we just want to continue to sharpen our sword
- 10:27Speaker 4: for these battles, to find a way to prepare ourselves
- 10:31Speaker 4: and put our best foot forward and find a way
- 10:33Speaker 4: to win and search for more. And so for this week,
- 10:39Speaker 4: we acknowledge, Man, Baltimore is a really good team, and
- 10:43Speaker 4: historically we've had some awesome matchups. Man, there's always a
- 10:48Speaker 4: FC North ramifications and I just respect this rivalry. I
- 10:53Speaker 4: think one of the awesome components of this rivalry is
- 10:56Speaker 4: the continuity and the organizations. Man, I've been on my
- 10:59Speaker 4: job a long time, Harves has been on his job
- 11:02Speaker 4: a long time, and I think that adds a texture
- 11:05Speaker 4: and history to it. And so that's something that is
- 11:09Speaker 4: an honor to be a part of. And we're just
- 11:11Speaker 4: simply writing the latest chapter this week with some new faces,
- 11:16Speaker 4: new faces for us and new faces for them as well.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Guys get an opportunity to be a component of this thing,
- 11:22Speaker 4: and even some guys flipping sides. You know, guys like
- 11:26Speaker 4: Patrick Queen and Moon being on this side of it,
- 11:30Speaker 4: just like Arthur Malett a year or so ago moving
- 11:33Speaker 4: to their side of it. But I just think that
- 11:37Speaker 4: that's a component of it, man, It's intimacy in this relationship.
- 11:40Speaker 4: We're highly familiar with their players, they're highly familiar with ours,
- 11:44Speaker 4: and when you have that level of familiarity, sometimes guys
- 11:47Speaker 4: play on both sides. I think Chris Wormley, for example,
- 11:50Speaker 4: is back on their practice squad last time I checked,
- 11:53Speaker 4: and so excited about it. I'll start first with their offense.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Mister Jackson obviously is at the sticks. He's a challenge.
- 12:02Speaker 4: He's a challenge in all circumstances. He's doing a really
- 12:06Speaker 4: nice job of spreading the ball around to a variety
- 12:09Speaker 4: of people. His tight end tandem, his special Obviously, he
- 12:14Speaker 4: and Mark Andrews have had a relationship there in the
- 12:16Speaker 4: same draft class, and so we watched those guys grow
- 12:19Speaker 4: together from Afar. But I'd be remiss if I didn't
- 12:23Speaker 4: talk about likely man in his development over the last
- 12:26Speaker 4: couple of years and his playmaking ability. He caught a
- 12:30Speaker 4: big touchdown on us in the in the red zone
- 12:33Speaker 4: as a rookie a couple of years ago, and he's
- 12:36Speaker 4: done nothing but advance in terms of his skill set
- 12:39Speaker 4: and finding his place in this thing. Jay Flowers, it's spectacular,
- 12:45Speaker 4: Wilde out. Obviously, I'm really familiar with zay Man. I
- 12:48Speaker 4: saw just about every game he played his last year
- 12:51Speaker 4: in college because my son was on his team. And man,
- 12:54Speaker 4: his talents are are special. His ability to separate his
- 12:59Speaker 4: run after, his competitive spirit, his general playmaking. He can
- 13:03Speaker 4: make plays in a lot of ways, and they distribute
- 13:06Speaker 4: the ball to him in a lot of ways, like
- 13:09Speaker 4: what I've seen from Bateman. Man, he's been down the grass,
- 13:12Speaker 4: been a backside matchup. Guys made some made a lot
- 13:15Speaker 4: of plays for him. But they got an agular man,
- 13:18Speaker 4: they got a deep group. They picked up Deontae, and
- 13:20Speaker 4: so mister Jackson's got a lot of people to throw to.
- 13:24Speaker 4: In terms of the running game, Man, that's handled by
- 13:28Speaker 4: the two guys that you know are handling it. We
- 13:31Speaker 4: got to deal with the big runner and work to
- 13:34Speaker 4: minimize his impact. On the game in a couple of ways. Specifically,
- 13:37Speaker 4: not only does is he capable of wearing you down
- 13:40Speaker 4: over the course of the game because he's a big
- 13:41Speaker 4: man and the attrician component of it, but he's also
- 13:45Speaker 4: a home run hitter with track speed and and so
- 13:48Speaker 4: you got to deal with the wear and tear component
- 13:50Speaker 4: of his approach to play. But a bomb can also
- 13:54Speaker 4: go off anytime he touches it. He can go eighty.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Great to hear from Coach Summon on the Iris Hitters,
- 13:59Speaker 1: palled Costant, you are ruling in to this big game
- 14:01Speaker 1: against the Ravens this week, and where do we start?
- 14:05Speaker 1: You know, I guess first of its one word answer?
- 14:07Speaker 1: Does yes or no? Right? No? Like just one word answer?
- 14:10Speaker 1: Does this game? In your opinion? Well, listenent, the winner
- 14:15Speaker 1: of the AFC North, the winner of this game. I'm
- 14:18Speaker 1: going to say no.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I know that's not the answer. Look for I'm going
- 14:22Speaker 2: to say yes no. Do you know what I'm going
- 14:23Speaker 2: to say?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yes?
- 14:24Speaker 2: I think I think the Steelers need to put a
- 14:26Speaker 2: stamp on this division right now in this game on Sunday.
- 14:29Speaker 2: They have the opportunity. Look, but we're one of the
- 14:31Speaker 2: best teams in the NFL right now. Somehow nobody knows
- 14:34Speaker 2: how it's happening, but we're finding where he's to win.
- 14:37Speaker 2: The Steelers have put the league unnoticed last week with
- 14:40Speaker 2: that win against the Commanders, and I think it's now
- 14:42Speaker 2: to to to come to come across or to let
- 14:45Speaker 2: the rest of the league know that we are for real.
- 14:48Speaker 2: And I think in emphatic victory against the Ravens and
- 14:50Speaker 2: Sunday will help that cause. And I do think I'm
- 14:54Speaker 2: going to say it here now the fourteenth of November,
- 14:57Speaker 2: we are going to win the AFC North and we're
- 14:59Speaker 2: gonna the compete for the AFC Championship. There you go,
- 15:03Speaker 2: that's my ball prediction.
- 15:05Speaker 1: One word answer that line.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yes, I'm gonna say, yes, I'm good. It's hard to
- 15:11Speaker 3: give a one word answer for this one because it
- 15:13Speaker 3: is it's it's a questionable. It's a questionable one word answer,
- 15:17Speaker 3: I mean, because you have to sort of dave in that.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And I do believe whether this game will have an
- 15:21Speaker 3: effect on the war of who it is, I don't know,
- 15:24Speaker 3: but I think the winner of this game will win
- 15:26Speaker 3: the division. As say, momentum is a big thing in
- 15:29Speaker 3: football now, not even just in football, but in all sports,
- 15:32Speaker 3: and I feel a win against your deepest rivals at
- 15:34Speaker 3: this stage in the season where there's so much on
- 15:37Speaker 3: the lane confidence ways as well. I mean, if we
- 15:40Speaker 3: win this weekend, imagine being Lamar Jackson. Think you ever
- 15:43Speaker 3: seen that?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Mean?
- 15:43Speaker 3: We can't beat this guy? That's probably what they're probably thinking.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I mean, he struggled so much against us. We just
- 15:48Speaker 3: know how to play against him, and I feel like
- 15:50Speaker 3: a win this weekend will solidify that. I mean, of course,
- 15:54Speaker 3: we go to Baltimore in a couple of weeks time,
- 15:56Speaker 3: they could return the favor, but I feel like at
- 15:58Speaker 3: that stage, you know, you know, they have a tough
- 16:01Speaker 3: or a tough schedule coming up as well. So I
- 16:05Speaker 3: really think the winner of this game, yeah, you could
- 16:07Speaker 3: realistically say they're probably going to win the division, but
- 16:10Speaker 3: who knows, we could end up meeting each other in
- 16:11Speaker 3: the playoffs. Again we have done in the past. We
- 16:13Speaker 3: have a good record against him in the playoffs as well.
- 16:16Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm one word answer, yes, but not just
- 16:20Speaker 3: a one word answer.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yes, a lot. You can see firsthand the I guess,
- 16:29Speaker 1: the motivation, the excitement, and I love it. Again, I
- 16:32Speaker 1: guess for me when in terms of my own key
- 16:35Speaker 1: of the game here before we just just run through ourselves.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think for me, when you look at a guy
- 16:40Speaker 1: like dark Henry, and I think he leads, he leads
- 16:42Speaker 1: the league of rushing the twelve hundred yards and there's
- 16:45Speaker 1: one thing of a constanbody at Balachai. But sometimes running
- 16:47Speaker 1: backs are given disrespect when you're looking at somebody's age
- 16:50Speaker 1: over thirty years of age, running backs haven't that expari
- 16:53Speaker 1: to their name almost. But dark Henry is is the
- 16:56Speaker 1: king of what he does in that position. And I
- 16:57Speaker 1: think it was back in what you said a few
- 16:59Speaker 1: months ago, Jim, about the strength of this Ravens offense
- 17:02Speaker 1: has so I think we have to embrace and accept that.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And we've heard guys by TJ. A WoT this week
- 17:07Speaker 1: come out and Dave accepted the fact that they know
- 17:10Speaker 1: that the Steelers or this this Ravens offense is legitimately
- 17:15Speaker 1: one of the best offense in the NFL. But if
- 17:17Speaker 1: any defense can get to this team, it has to
- 17:20Speaker 1: be TJ. Watt and it has to be the Steelers defense.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So certainly, for me, the biggest key for me in
- 17:25Speaker 1: the scheme is to stop the run from the get go,
- 17:27Speaker 1: make Lamar make those decisions that he hasn't really done
- 17:30Speaker 1: this year as much last year and the year before.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I think his EPA was a lot higher in terms
- 17:35Speaker 1: of when he was on the run or making quick
- 17:37Speaker 1: time decisions. And frankly, his decision making skills have not
- 17:44Speaker 1: had to have been tested so far the season because
- 17:45Speaker 1: he can hand the ball off a lot more and
- 17:47Speaker 1: them the ball off a lot to Henry. So I
- 17:50Speaker 1: want to make Lamar Jackson work for this. I think
- 17:53Speaker 1: the Steelers will do that. They want to try and
- 17:54Speaker 1: limit his options available to him, and it's about playing
- 17:58Speaker 1: those four quarters. It's about playing each dine each quarter
- 18:01Speaker 1: and just not letting them get each ount. But let's
- 18:03Speaker 1: be honest here, they're gonna score points slots. They are
- 18:06Speaker 1: going to score points. I think if you can limit
- 18:07Speaker 1: this team the twenty five or twenty six and then
- 18:10Speaker 1: being as high as that, because that's the soundard that
- 18:13Speaker 1: the our offense needs to be a limit to twenty
- 18:16Speaker 1: five or twenty six and get to thirty two to
- 18:17Speaker 1: thirty four. But for me, it stopped the run and
- 18:19Speaker 1: have that defense on and Jimmy, I would say for you,
- 18:22Speaker 1: it's pretty similar. Do you any other keys of the.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Game, like you said, making me and I was reading
- 18:26Speaker 2: a couple of previews there before we came on, just
- 18:28Speaker 2: to see what some of the pundits were saying. They're
- 18:30Speaker 2: all saying the stop thinking the same thing. It's get
- 18:32Speaker 2: after Lamar, and I think that's Although we did get
- 18:35Speaker 2: some pressure in some hurries on Jayden Daniels last week,
- 18:38Speaker 2: TJ one had a fairly quiet game, and I think
- 18:41Speaker 2: considering Nether, we're going to be missing Alex Heismith and
- 18:44Speaker 2: someone's going to have to jump to step up there.
- 18:47Speaker 2: There might be even more of a focus on the
- 18:49Speaker 2: on the pass rush. So I think if you can
- 18:51Speaker 2: if you can flush Lamara Lamara Jackson a little bit,
- 18:55Speaker 2: that's I mean, that's absolutely key, is putting him under
- 18:57Speaker 2: dress and giving him less time to make those decisions.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Another key for me is turnovers and takeaways as more
- 19:04Speaker 2: specifically takeaways. The Steelers defense are our dbs have been
- 19:08Speaker 2: absolutely fantastic this year. Dante Jackson's had had a great
- 19:11Speaker 2: season with not only in tackles but also in past defense,
- 19:18Speaker 2: and he's had a couple of interceptions to his name.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Benie Bishop has been an absolute steal I think he
- 19:23Speaker 2: had two picks against the Jets. He might have had
- 19:25Speaker 2: a turd one against the Giants. Very again, very very quiet.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Last week, we had no we take no interceptions against
- 19:32Speaker 2: Jayden Daniels, So i'd like to see I think that's
- 19:35Speaker 2: going to be absolutely crucial is forcing a couple of
- 19:37Speaker 2: a couple of takeaways. So defensively, I think a big
- 19:42Speaker 2: like it's like you said, they're going to score points.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Let's just let's just accept that, but let's try unlimit
- 19:47Speaker 2: the damage that they're going to do through the through
- 19:48Speaker 2: the air and on the ground. And then offensively, definitely
- 19:53Speaker 2: get Mike Williams more involved. I mean he'd he had
- 19:55Speaker 2: a great debut with his one catch for a touchdown
- 19:58Speaker 2: last week. That see him getting involved a bit more.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I think he's definitely a better option than Van Jefferson
- 20:05Speaker 2: and Patrick friar Mo has been absolu to be fantastic
- 20:08Speaker 2: stepping up as as a key receiver for Russell Wilson.
- 20:12Speaker 2: So look, look, let's just get more points in the
- 20:14Speaker 2: board basically, and let's just be the best version of
- 20:17Speaker 2: ourselves on each.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Side of the ball.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Donald don't give us a game pick yet, but gave
- 20:22Speaker 1: us a key in the game.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm pretty much similar to both of you. I mean,
- 20:29Speaker 3: if you look at their their team starts. For example,
- 20:32Speaker 3: the Ravens are the first and points per game, first,
- 20:34Speaker 3: and rush yards per game, first and yards overall per game,
- 20:37Speaker 3: and third and past yards per game. So the writings
- 20:40Speaker 3: on the wall there. I mean, offensively, they're a fantastic team. Great,
- 20:44Speaker 3: you know pieces Lamar of Court, Henry, Mark Andrews as well,
- 20:48Speaker 3: and even Za Flywers, who I thought has been pretty
- 20:50Speaker 3: good this year. And so if we're able to nullify
- 20:52Speaker 3: those weapons, which we have done in the past, I
- 20:54Speaker 3: mean they've done a lot of new of course dark
- 20:56Speaker 3: Henry is new, but you know, Andrews hasn't really played
- 20:59Speaker 3: well against us in years, say Flowers hasn't Lamar as
- 21:01Speaker 3: we've we've already discussed, and he struggles against us. So
- 21:05Speaker 3: if we're able to nullify those threats and as well
- 21:08Speaker 3: as you know, defensively, look at I mentioned it in
- 21:11Speaker 3: the podcast the other day, thirty second in yards allowed
- 21:13Speaker 3: through the air. If we're able to get Russ you know,
- 21:16Speaker 3: cooking and on the frier Mouth on the George Pekins
- 21:19Speaker 3: and as Jimmy said there, Mike get Mike Williams involved more.
- 21:23Speaker 3: We've got the weapons now that to to put points
- 21:25Speaker 3: up as well. I mean, as both of us have
- 21:27Speaker 3: just mentioned, we need to accept that they're gonna score points,
- 21:30Speaker 3: but we now have an offense has potential to put
- 21:32Speaker 3: up as much points, if not more so. As well
- 21:35Speaker 3: as that, you know, turnovers we are we have a
- 21:37Speaker 3: great turnover differential. We're one of a half in the league,
- 21:40Speaker 3: and we're hopeful to hope for the same and that
- 21:43Speaker 3: sort of count. And just obviously on injuries as well,
- 21:45Speaker 3: I think that Kurbag you mentioned about Alex Higsmith and Jimmy.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I did see a video of Nick Herbag and he
- 21:49Speaker 3: looks pretty fit, so he hopefully will make a return
- 21:52Speaker 3: and if if so, I expect him to have a
- 21:55Speaker 3: big impact in the game. So we'll list to be
- 21:56Speaker 3: there in Mike Keith the game, nullify them on offense,
- 22:00Speaker 3: put up points of our own. And defensively, just Leana
- 22:02Speaker 3: not on' not you know stas estics, you know, don't
- 22:05Speaker 3: turn the ball over. Force them are into making their mistakes.
- 22:08Speaker 3: And I think, you know, we have a good chance.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Of what Yeah, and I've seen a video just to
- 22:14Speaker 1: Nick her big individual drills, so looking like he might
- 22:17Speaker 1: be able to return this week, and we wish him
- 22:18Speaker 1: the basketball into the scheme against the Ravens. Just before
- 22:21Speaker 1: we get our game picks, let's hear from a couple
- 22:22Speaker 1: of guys in the locker room after Furstays practice. So
- 22:26Speaker 1: let's hear who we're gonna hear on the I Receivers podcast.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's your expectations for your first Still and Ravens. What
- 22:32Speaker 1: type of football are you interest?
- 22:33Speaker 5: It's gonna be tough, it's gonna be physical, it's gonna
- 22:35Speaker 5: be a great game, you know, and a lot of
- 22:36Speaker 5: great players on both sides of the football.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Obviously.
- 22:38Speaker 5: It's a lot of history here, you know, and and uh,
- 22:41Speaker 5: you know, we got to bring our best. You have
- 22:44Speaker 5: a rivalry like this in Seattle or or Denver that
- 22:47Speaker 5: you felt like people got this much clause about her
- 22:49Speaker 5: up the Obviously this is a historic rivalry obviously, Uh,
- 22:52Speaker 5: being the AFC North and all the great teams and
- 22:54Speaker 5: all the all the history in the in the AFC North,
- 22:58Speaker 5: it's pretty historic obviously. You know, Steelers have been around
- 23:01Speaker 5: since nineteen thirty three, so there's been a lot of history.
- 23:04Speaker 4: You know.
- 23:04Speaker 5: We we had definitely in Seattle. There's some great moments
- 23:07Speaker 5: and great battles obviously, you know with you know, Seattle
- 23:11Speaker 5: Seahawks and the forty nine Ers. Those are some big games,
- 23:14Speaker 5: a lot of great players on both sides, So those
- 23:16Speaker 5: are always good moments. But this one has got a
- 23:19Speaker 5: lot of history to its.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Mill put the touchdown catch obviously, how much more is
- 23:24Speaker 1: he picking up?
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah, Mike's been great. You know, he's been smart, he's
- 23:29Speaker 5: on it, he's a he's a pro. You know, got
- 23:32Speaker 5: a lot of great guys around them. H just love
- 23:35Speaker 5: the love that room. Just all the hard work they
- 23:37Speaker 5: put in every day is really special. So Mike's a
- 23:39Speaker 5: great addition for.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Us lea weeks. You've been quarterback night.
- 23:43Speaker 5: You feel that this offense is evolved at the.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Point that this turns into a shootout.
- 23:47Speaker 5: With as prolific as they are offensively, you can go
- 23:50Speaker 5: score for score room. Yeah, I think that we can
- 23:52Speaker 5: definitely score points and we can do some special things,
- 23:54Speaker 5: you know, and we've got a great defense. You know,
- 23:57Speaker 5: we we trust each other as a team and everything else.
- 23:59Speaker 5: We just got to play one play the time. You know,
- 24:00Speaker 5: you can't you know, you know, nobody's trying to predict scores.
- 24:03Speaker 5: You just play the moment, you know, you just be
- 24:06Speaker 5: in the moment, do whatever it takes to win. And
- 24:07Speaker 5: our goals score one more point than they than they do.
- 24:10Speaker 5: That's that's the goal, you know. And if we score
- 24:11Speaker 5: more than that, hopefully that's good too. I think the
- 24:13Speaker 5: biggest thing is just being focused on us being our
- 24:16Speaker 5: best and uh, you know, they're gonna bring their best
- 24:19Speaker 5: and we got to bring ours.
- 24:20Speaker 2: What do you think you're supposed to challenging, able to
- 24:22Speaker 2: go through?
- 24:23Speaker 5: I think they fly around. I think obviously they got
- 24:25Speaker 5: some playmakers that they got some guys who know how
- 24:27Speaker 5: to get the ball and do some really good things.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing for us, though, is we
- 24:32Speaker 5: gotta be we got to be focused on what we
- 24:34Speaker 5: do well, and we're excited about that opportunity to go up.
- 24:36Speaker 5: But it's a really good football team.
- 24:39Speaker 3: I think that Rus Michael said that two days ago
- 24:43Speaker 3: that there's a lot more of your game.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Where do you want to grow?
- 24:46Speaker 5: Much more do you think of, say one more time,
- 24:48Speaker 5: how much more do you think you can how much
- 24:50Speaker 5: more do you think of your game.
- 24:51Speaker 1: You have to show.
- 24:53Speaker 5: I think we're always growing. I think that's that's the
- 24:55Speaker 5: great part about this game is this You're constantly building,
- 24:58Speaker 5: constantly growing, You're finding every little one percent that you
- 25:01Speaker 5: can get better. And uh, I think the biggest thing
- 25:03Speaker 5: for us is we're all growing together, you know. I think,
- 25:06Speaker 5: you know, learn each guy and all the time that
- 25:08Speaker 5: we get to spend together. And obviously it hit a
- 25:10Speaker 5: big touchdown the big a guy like big Mic and
- 25:13Speaker 5: uh you know, his first real, big, big play for us.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You know, that was the.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Monumental moment for us. You know, we needed that. And
- 25:19Speaker 5: and so for me, I just I always focus on
- 25:22Speaker 5: on the fundamentals of the game, you know, It's always
- 25:24Speaker 5: been my focus every day I go to practice and
- 25:27Speaker 5: trying to be great there, allowing the fundamentals to allow
- 25:30Speaker 5: me to be confident in the big moments you know too,
- 25:32Speaker 5: and just trusting that. And uh, I think that's that's
- 25:35Speaker 5: where I always focus.
- 25:37Speaker 6: What do you think about playing in against the Ravens,
- 25:40Speaker 6: because it's it's a rivalry of the fact that you know,
- 25:43Speaker 6: obviously the history of both teams are someone else part.
- 25:46Speaker 6: When I was watching them, we usually good teams and
- 25:48Speaker 6: it's always physical, it's always good on good. It reminds
- 25:51Speaker 6: me of when I was playing L s U and
- 25:53Speaker 6: they had all them boys, uh, Joe Burrow and all
- 25:55Speaker 6: of them, and it was you know, our team. I
- 25:57Speaker 6: think it was ranked two and it was rank one,
- 25:59Speaker 6: and it was always just you know, just play man
- 26:01Speaker 6: really too much now of the game plan, it's just
- 26:03Speaker 6: whoever once and more. And that's just the physicality of
- 26:05Speaker 6: the mindset that I always always have and always with
- 26:08Speaker 6: toe guys if this matchup is you know, don't really
- 26:10Speaker 6: look at the score, but just worried about winning each
- 26:12Speaker 6: play and you know, if you lose one play, just
- 26:14Speaker 6: or out the next one because you know, the game
- 26:16Speaker 6: go either way. And it's just the fun part of
- 26:18Speaker 6: the sport. You know, when you're playing against across the start,
- 26:21Speaker 6: when play against across the ball, and it's, uh, you know,
- 26:24Speaker 6: other guys who are you know, at the same level
- 26:26Speaker 6: as you are. You know who's's kind of just in
- 26:28Speaker 6: that same mindset as you and you know, at the
- 26:30Speaker 6: end of the day, it's the best males to win.
- 26:32Speaker 5: You're close to a college type of reborary game that
- 26:35Speaker 5: you get that.
- 26:35Speaker 6: You yeah, yeah for sure for me, for sure, you
- 26:38Speaker 6: know me personally saying that speaking on that question is yeah,
- 26:42Speaker 6: I think so most definitely always have fun playing it,
- 26:44Speaker 6: even if, like you know, both teams aren't even doing it,
- 26:46Speaker 6: It's always gonna be you know, a good rivalry like
- 26:48Speaker 6: like Auburning and Alabama. You know, even if one team
- 26:51Speaker 6: is not so good, it's that game. You know, both
- 26:53Speaker 6: teams are zero zero and it's and it's always just
- 26:56Speaker 6: good on good.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Great to hear from the loads. It's a big game
- 27:00Speaker 1: and Tom at Ladds, I'm going to ask the lads
- 27:02Speaker 1: right now to give us the picks for the game.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I'll just go first and get it out of the way.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Talking with him, giving you mentioned about you know, you
- 27:09Speaker 1: don't know what to expect that with this team. You
- 27:11Speaker 1: don't know what to expect with the NFL in general.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Like we've seen it last week in Munich about how
- 27:16Speaker 1: the Panthers played over the Giants. We've seen it in
- 27:18Speaker 1: some of the London games, like the Bears look lights
- 27:20Speaker 1: out at one point a few weeks ago and now
- 27:23Speaker 1: they can't get the lights on. It's a huge game.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Everyone's gonna be watching it. It's on Sky Sports. It's
- 27:28Speaker 1: obviously available to a lot of people in the States.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Before this Chiefs Bells game as well, I'm gonna take
- 27:34Speaker 1: Lamar to have an off day and for Derek, for
- 27:37Speaker 1: Derek Henry to be under seventy yards for rushing, and
- 27:39Speaker 1: the Steelers to win this seventeen to fourteen, which is
- 27:42Speaker 1: a massive, massive shout. I get it. It's a huge
- 27:46Speaker 1: statement from me. And I'm putting this off on the
- 27:48Speaker 1: line here. I think this team goes yet and do
- 27:51Speaker 1: and gets a two win gap in the AFC North. Jimmy,
- 27:54Speaker 1: are you being more realistic or what's your thoughts? Don't
- 27:56Speaker 1: you can't you can't say lost, and said.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Tye Honestly, I think it's gonna come down Mick to
- 28:03Speaker 2: whoever has the ball last, and I think that's gonna
- 28:06Speaker 2: be the Steelers. And I'm back in mister Boswell to
- 28:11Speaker 2: navelus this game as the clock expires, as time wine's down,
- 28:14Speaker 2: He's going to boot a game winning seel goal through
- 28:16Speaker 2: the uprights, and the Steelers are going to survive the
- 28:20Speaker 2: Ravens on a score of twenty four to twenty one.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And that is my prediction.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I think.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Look, I think the momentum is with us right now.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Right nobody really had us pegged to beat beat Jayden
- 28:31Speaker 2: Dinalds and the Commanders. The momentum was there. It just
- 28:34Speaker 2: feels like the Steelers year after everything that's happened, and
- 28:37Speaker 2: you know, I'll talk about Tomlin and quarterbacks and all
- 28:40Speaker 2: that noise. Steelers are locked in right now. I think, Look,
- 28:44Speaker 2: it's game on for the rest of the season, and
- 28:46Speaker 2: I think the I think the road to Nola starts
- 28:49Speaker 2: here on Sunday night, and the Steelers get out with
- 28:52Speaker 2: a win.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Get to the credit. You knew that's the causse manment.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I believe you're about to make a lodgment, Doble.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I viewed pretty much the same as you guys,
- 29:05Speaker 3: although you know, I've had a look on the Battan books.
- 29:07Speaker 3: You know, I think the Ravens have opened up his
- 29:09Speaker 3: three point favorites. I think the victory margin will be
- 29:12Speaker 3: three points, but I think it will be for us.
- 29:13Speaker 3: And just as Jimmy just said, it really does depend
- 29:16Speaker 3: on these games. Who has the ball lost. It's all
- 29:18Speaker 3: about the timing, and I think the Steelers. I predicted
- 29:21Speaker 3: a twenty three to twenty win last week, and I'm
- 29:23Speaker 3: going to go to see him twenty three to twenty Steelers.
- 29:27Speaker 3: I just feel that if it comes down to it,
- 29:29Speaker 3: and we have Boswell. He's performing justin Talker this year
- 29:34Speaker 3: as well. By the way, people may have taken notree
- 29:35Speaker 3: of that, but I feel yeah, it could come down
- 29:38Speaker 3: to the Wizard of Balls checking out game winning failed
- 29:40Speaker 3: goal twenty three twenty Steelers. You can take that out
- 29:43Speaker 3: of the bank.
- 29:45Speaker 1: What a surprise. None of us are packing the risks
- 29:48Speaker 1: on the Steelers podcast. I love it, Lavet, I love it.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Are such a big win of web, are such a
- 29:52Speaker 1: big hopeful win as well because Cleveland Cincinnati Cleveland. The
- 29:57Speaker 1: follow up three games is a huge opportunity. Like the
- 29:59Speaker 1: guys mentioned that, and look, if you give me three
- 30:02Speaker 1: and one right now, take it and up your arm off.
- 30:03Speaker 1: So let's see what happens is Sunday, we'll be back
- 30:06Speaker 1: early in the week to recap this game and look
- 30:08Speaker 1: ahead to actually quite an early once. We might do
- 30:11Speaker 1: a podcast depending on these guys' schedules on Tuesday, to
- 30:16Speaker 1: look ahead or to look back into both look ahead
