- 1:51Speaker 1: edition of Disguised Coverage, we will be diving into the
- 1:56Speaker 1: start of free agency for the Buffalo Bill, the activity
- 2:02Speaker 1: maybe also the lack of activity, moves that they could
- 2:06Speaker 1: have made but didn't. Contracts that were dished out to
- 2:09Speaker 1: some potential really good fits on paper for the Buffalo
- 2:12Speaker 1: Bills that just unfortunately for whatever reason that well you know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: we'll talk about dive into didn't fall their way. They
- 2:18Speaker 1: did make some moves, you know, we have the dj
- 2:20Speaker 1: more trade. They brought back Connor McGovern, They brought in
- 2:23Speaker 1: Corner d Alford from the Atlanta Falcons. But we'll be
- 2:27Speaker 1: diving into all of those details as we go in
- 2:30Speaker 1: throughout this episode. And you know, from an activity standpoint, right,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and I just listed the moves. You know, the dj
- 2:37Speaker 1: more trade has been talked about it nauseum at this
- 2:39Speaker 1: point because it was done last week. Well, we can
- 2:42Speaker 1: talk about Connor McGovern, but I think a lot of
- 2:44Speaker 1: folks just know what Connor McGovern is. We'll talk about
- 2:46Speaker 1: d Alfred a little bit in this episode, uh to
- 2:48Speaker 1: kind of break that piece down, but I really want
- 2:49Speaker 1: to focus a lot of this episode, as we do
- 2:51Speaker 1: here on the show, that this show is very engagement
- 2:54Speaker 1: based with the live chat questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, likes, dislikes, frustrate,
- 3:00Speaker 1: anything and everything you folks got. That's how we operate
- 3:03Speaker 1: normally and regularly on the show, but even more so
- 3:06Speaker 1: at times like this where there is a lot of
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, happenings going on around the league or with
- 3:11Speaker 1: the bills or maybe not so anything you folks got
- 3:13Speaker 1: on your mind again, questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, likes, dislikes, philosophies, ideologies, maxims, theorems,
- 3:20Speaker 1: whatever you folks got, feel free to put it into
- 3:22Speaker 1: the chats, and I will make this episode as engaging
- 3:24Speaker 1: as possible. As always, super chats get priority because I
- 3:28Speaker 1: respect the monetary donation and the color distracts me and
- 3:31Speaker 1: takes me away from my notes. But yeah, we'll talk
- 3:34Speaker 1: about some activity, some lack thereof, and they really make this,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you know, as engagement focus as we can to let
- 3:40Speaker 1: everybody kind of vent talk about some things for some
- 3:43Speaker 1: conversation and we'll go forward here. This is one of
- 3:46Speaker 1: the few episodes I've done the past several years where
- 3:50Speaker 1: Kendall Mursky has not been my guest on this show.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I blame him for the lack of activity, because every
- 3:56Speaker 1: time we do this show on this Tuesday night, it's usually,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, some kind of breaking news happens as we go.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Joe it was Joey Bosa last year, it was Von
- 4:07Speaker 1: Miller several years before that. So let's really kind of
- 4:10Speaker 1: just get at Kendall for not being being unable to
- 4:14Speaker 1: join me tonight. And I think that's probably jinx the
- 4:16Speaker 1: lack of moves for the Buffalo bill to start with
- 4:20Speaker 1: some pieces from the chat Cam Moorey you know me
- 4:23Speaker 1: too well, Cam Moorey says a sad day for aunt
- 4:26Speaker 1: no Roy Lopez, no Leo Chanol. Maybe next year I
- 4:30Speaker 1: give up on Roy Lopez. And you know, and I
- 4:34Speaker 1: will say this, I kind of want to use this.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'll use this kind of preface everything where to go
- 4:38Speaker 1: through in this episode tonight, right. And I say this
- 4:41Speaker 1: as a person who again, folks who regularly watch and
- 4:45Speaker 1: listen to the show, I've spoken a lot about my
- 4:48Speaker 1: frustrations with Brandon Bean, not just this year, this offseason,
- 4:51Speaker 1: but in totality, my thoughts about Sean McDermott going and
- 4:55Speaker 1: how Bean essentially should have gone with him out the door. Yes,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I recognize that, you know, we don't want Terry Pagoula
- 5:01Speaker 1: running the ship and making the decisions. So I get
- 5:03Speaker 1: it that it's better to still have been there so
- 5:05Speaker 1: he can steer things instead of having Pegoula. But I
- 5:09Speaker 1: have a lot of frustrations when it comes to Brandon
- 5:11Speaker 1: Bean and just kind of the decisions about this roster
- 5:14Speaker 1: of the past over years, the contracts that they've given out,
- 5:18Speaker 1: the decisions they've made, and again things are tied to
- 5:20Speaker 1: McDermott and Bean. I thought they were both culpable. They
- 5:23Speaker 1: both had their hands bloody. But I want to use
- 5:26Speaker 1: this comment from Kamory, because Yeah, I really wanted Roy Lopez.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I really wanted the Oceanelle Kaden Ellis. We're gonna go
- 5:33Speaker 1: through a lot of guys I had on my list
- 5:35Speaker 1: that I thought were affordable for the bills. They ended
- 5:37Speaker 1: up being affordable based on the contracts that they were
- 5:41Speaker 1: given out. But I want to preface all of this
- 5:44Speaker 1: by saying, you know, even if the bills were flushed
- 5:47Speaker 1: with cash, right which we know they're not, we know
- 5:49Speaker 1: that it's going to take some finagling to get some
- 5:51Speaker 1: deals done and some cleverness with the salaries and the
- 5:54Speaker 1: capits and all that stuff. Right, there are a multitude
- 5:58Speaker 1: of variables that go into guys signing a contract. Right,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and I'll use Roy Lopez for this example. Right, I
- 6:06Speaker 1: wanted it for multiple years now. He ended up going
- 6:08Speaker 1: back to Arizona this offseason. He signed a two year,
- 6:11Speaker 1: eleven point five million dollar deal with seven million guaranteed.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Maybe the Bills offered him that same contract and he said,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you know what, I want to go back to Arizona.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Maybe they offered him more and he said, you know what, no, thanks,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I really want to go back to Arizona. Maybe they
- 6:25Speaker 1: didn't offer him at all. Maybe they offered him in
- 6:27Speaker 1: Lowballdom or any one of them, you know, more scenarios
- 6:31Speaker 1: that could have happened. Absence of evidence is not evidence
- 6:34Speaker 1: of absence. So and I use that phrase a lot
- 6:38Speaker 1: in life. And so just because they didn't sign use
- 6:43Speaker 1: this example. Just because the Bills didn't sign Roy Lopez
- 6:46Speaker 1: didn't didn't doesn't mean that they didn't try to sign
- 6:48Speaker 1: Roy Lopez. Right, But it doesn't mean they didn't try.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Doesn't mean they did and they had a better offer,
- 6:53Speaker 1: doesn't mean it doesn't mean a lot of things right
- 6:55Speaker 1: just because they didn't sign him. There's a whole plethora
- 6:59Speaker 1: of variables go into it, and that goes into any deal, right,
- 7:01Speaker 1: any of these moves, anybody that you wanted the Bills
- 7:04Speaker 1: to sign, trade for this year, last year, anything and everything.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Just because the deals didn't get done doesn't mean the
- 7:10Speaker 1: Bills tried. Doesn't mean they gave their best effort or
- 7:13Speaker 1: they made the right move. No, doesn't mean they tried
- 7:15Speaker 1: it all. No. So I always like to reinforce that
- 7:19Speaker 1: and put that around there because I think a lot
- 7:22Speaker 1: of times when people don't see the move get done,
- 7:25Speaker 1: they just think, well, they're sitting on their hands, they're
- 7:28Speaker 1: not doing anything. And I don't think that's the case.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I think most teams, including the Bills, who we know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: kick the tires on almost anything and everything year after year.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I do think they're trying to make moves, they're just
- 7:37Speaker 1: for whatever reason, not getting them done. Maybe they're waiting
- 7:40Speaker 1: for the Trey Hendrickson shoot to drop, which we'll talk
- 7:42Speaker 1: about in this episode. So again, I say this as
- 7:45Speaker 1: a person who is frustrated with Brandon Bean. I'm not
- 7:48Speaker 1: saying this to give him a pass. Or make an
- 7:50Speaker 1: excuse or give the benefit of the doubt. But there
- 7:53Speaker 1: are a multitude of variables that go into a signing, right,
- 7:58Speaker 1: And it's not just the money and the turn you present.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's how the player feels. Does the player want to
- 8:03Speaker 1: go to that organization, Does he feel like he's a
- 8:05Speaker 1: good fit. Does he want to go to a different
- 8:07Speaker 1: city for different weather or is he from a different area.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Brian Cook is a good example, right, the safety for
- 8:11Speaker 1: Kansas City. He ended up signing with the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He played college ball at Cincinnati. Maybe he just wanted
- 8:17Speaker 1: to go back home, you know, for him, quote unquote,
- 8:19Speaker 1: maybe that's where he wanted to be, saw the opportunity,
- 8:22Speaker 1: saw some money cool. Maybe the Bills offered him the
- 8:24Speaker 1: same deal, offered him more and he said, no, I
- 8:26Speaker 1: want to go back to Cincinnati, and so he went
- 8:28Speaker 1: back to Cincinnati. There's a multitude of pieces that go
- 8:32Speaker 1: into everything. But yeah, definitely a sad day for me.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I thought that I didn't think the Roy Lopez move
- 8:39Speaker 1: was a guarantee. I thought it made a ton of sense,
- 8:41Speaker 1: as you know, But I really thought Leo Chanal was
- 8:45Speaker 1: a slam dunk. Like I thought it was either him
- 8:48Speaker 1: or Kaiden Nellis. I've said it on multiple shows on
- 8:51Speaker 1: the network, on other appearances I've made outside the network.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I thought getting Kaiden Nellis or Leo Chanal was an
- 8:58Speaker 1: absolute must. Not a skill set like them, not a
- 9:01Speaker 1: player like them. I thought it was an absolute must
- 9:04Speaker 1: to get Leo Shanal or Kayan Nellison. I thought Leo
- 9:06Speaker 1: Shanal again was close to slam dunk, you know. I
- 9:09Speaker 1: didn't think he was gonna be too expensive, which he wasn't.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Shanel ended up signing a three year, twenty four point
- 9:14Speaker 1: seventy five million dollars a year with the Commanders. I
- 9:16Speaker 1: thought he would want to play for Leonard. I thought
- 9:18Speaker 1: Leonard would want him. He made a ton of sense
- 9:20Speaker 1: for what they needed at linebacker. He would give them
- 9:23Speaker 1: so much versatility and add to the hybridized nature of
- 9:27Speaker 1: the front and being able to maximize Leonard's scheme. But
- 9:30Speaker 1: they didn't get him either. And we're gonna talk about,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you know again, all of these moves that they could
- 9:34Speaker 1: have made but didn't as we go forward in this episode.
- 9:36Speaker 1: But I wanted to lead off with that because, yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 1: Kam Moore, you know me too well. I am I
- 9:39Speaker 1: am frustrated on the defense side of the ball, to
- 9:42Speaker 1: say the least, Jason saying, some of the contracts were
- 9:45Speaker 1: quote unquote good players, but not what I would consider
- 9:49Speaker 1: consistent different makers. Difference makers is too much for my
- 9:52Speaker 1: blood in our situation. Let the teams with a lot
- 9:54Speaker 1: of cap room overpay. I think that's a fair assessment.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I think there are some guys who are, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: kind of getting a little too much, but you know,
- 10:02Speaker 1: for me, and again I'm gonna get into get into
- 10:04Speaker 1: it later. Like I didn't think the contracts are the
- 10:06Speaker 1: guys that I really wanted, right like Roy Lopez, Leo Chanal,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Kayden Ellis, Kobe Bryant, Bryan Cook, Sorry Kobe Bryant, Brian Cook,
- 10:15Speaker 1: Jalen Thompson, especially even Kiris Tonga. David Anyamata got you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: one year, ten and a half million dollar deal. That again,
- 10:24Speaker 1: that's an average average annual value of ten and a half.
- 10:27Speaker 1: That's a one year I thought that was a little
- 10:28Speaker 1: high for what he was gonna get, but I understood
- 10:30Speaker 1: I still would have paid it to him. John Franklin
- 10:32Speaker 1: Myers got paid big time in free agency, but I
- 10:35Speaker 1: never really considered him or put him on my list
- 10:37Speaker 1: because I thought he was gonna get paid, so I
- 10:39Speaker 1: kind of compartmentalized him. I do think there are some
- 10:42Speaker 1: overpayings happening. But the guys that I really wanted, I
- 10:46Speaker 1: wanted them because of their skill set and scheme fit,
- 10:48Speaker 1: but also because of what I thought their contract projections
- 10:50Speaker 1: would be. So for me individually, it's frustrating to see
- 10:53Speaker 1: them not get the guys I wanted and then see
- 10:56Speaker 1: them sign contracts that I thought is what they were
- 10:59Speaker 1: going to sign and I thought would be in the
- 11:00Speaker 1: Bills wheelhouse. But a very fair point. Jason coming here
- 11:06Speaker 1: thoughts on Max Crosby's failed trade weird. I just want
- 11:10Speaker 1: to see what's going on, you know, rumors or not rumors.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Reports are coming out that he failed as physical, But
- 11:16Speaker 1: did he actually fail as physical or did the Ravens
- 11:18Speaker 1: get cold feet and they just tried to flag anything
- 11:20Speaker 1: and use that as an example of like, oh, nope,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you know he's got he stubbed his toe. We don't
- 11:25Speaker 1: like it, failed the physical, but you know, we can't
- 11:27Speaker 1: do the trade. Did they back out at the last minute,
- 11:29Speaker 1: did they not like the feel of it or the
- 11:31Speaker 1: sense of it? And now where does Crosby go. Now.
- 11:34Speaker 1: We know the Bills were in that mix for Max Crosby.
- 11:38Speaker 1: We know the Raiders were reporting, according to some reports,
- 11:41Speaker 1: chose the Ravens deal because of how more attractive their
- 11:45Speaker 1: first round pick was this year, the Bills first round
- 11:47Speaker 1: pick for the end of the end of the first round.
- 11:49Speaker 1: We know the Bears were involved, but they've kind of
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, no deal is set in stone right now,
- 11:54Speaker 1: because it's still Tuesday. Right Wednesday is when everything goes
- 11:57Speaker 1: into effect when the new league year starts. But the
- 12:00Speaker 1: Bears weren't in there. I believe the Cowboys weren't in there.
- 12:03Speaker 1: But the Bears have made significant moves to the Bears
- 12:05Speaker 1: back out of those agreements now and try and shoot
- 12:09Speaker 1: for Max Crosby. I would love that because that does
- 12:11Speaker 1: that put Kobe Bryant back on the market and the
- 12:13Speaker 1: Bills can get him at safety. Do the Bills go
- 12:16Speaker 1: harder for Max Crosby now? But the Cowboys first round
- 12:20Speaker 1: picks were more attractive? So do the Cowboys reinsert themselves
- 12:24Speaker 1: back in the conversation. I think it's really interesting. I'm
- 12:26Speaker 1: excited to not excited, but I'm interested to see what
- 12:29Speaker 1: the details are that come out about why this thing
- 12:32Speaker 1: really failed. Was it the Ravens really pulling out? Did
- 12:35Speaker 1: he truly fail his physical just you wouldn't expect to
- 12:39Speaker 1: see it failed physical. So I want to know what's
- 12:42Speaker 1: going on there. Is there some gamesman shipped by the Ravens,
- 12:46Speaker 1: why would there be? Again, they pulled this trigger and
- 12:49Speaker 1: now they're trying to put the cat back in the bag.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Really interesting. Alex says. My thoughts are, we made some
- 12:56Speaker 1: solid moves. However, I see teams going quote unquote all
- 12:59Speaker 1: in and in my opinion, we are not get that
- 13:02Speaker 1: man out of Cincinnati and in a Bill's uniform asap.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I'm assuming you, me and Trey Hendrickson. There are some
- 13:06Speaker 1: rumors there. We will see. We will see. Jason says,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I like resigning mcgovernor Edwards and not paying New Orleans
- 13:13Speaker 1: money to keep it. Yeah, David Edwards got paid big time.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Good for him. He got four years, sixty one and
- 13:19Speaker 1: a half million dollars. I don't know the exact guarantees.
- 13:21Speaker 1: We don't there. Again, everything for contracts is rumored because
- 13:24Speaker 1: nothing's official as of this point for these true free agents.
- 13:27Speaker 1: But yeah, he was on the bills came. I believe
- 13:32Speaker 1: he first came for like a one year, two and
- 13:34Speaker 1: a half million dollars or three million dollar deal, and
- 13:36Speaker 1: then he re signed on a two year, six million
- 13:39Speaker 1: dollar deal. So he was here the past couple years
- 13:42Speaker 1: making about three million dollars a season, which is obviously
- 13:44Speaker 1: still really good. And now he goes to New Orleans
- 13:47Speaker 1: where you know he's making you know, he's got four
- 13:49Speaker 1: years and he's making sixty one million dollars total, which
- 13:52Speaker 1: is a nice little bump there for him in terms
- 13:56Speaker 1: of average annual value. So yeah, shout out to him.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And then Jason says, a couple of pay cuts where
- 14:00Speaker 1: replacement level would be worse than keeping Knocks and Bass
- 14:04Speaker 1: and Alford seems necessary and fine, Yeah, we're gonna talk
- 14:07Speaker 1: about d Alford. Necessary and fine. I think is a
- 14:09Speaker 1: really good way to put it, a really good way
- 14:11Speaker 1: to put it. And ye had Knox. We talked about
- 14:13Speaker 1: Knox here on the show, like he just couldn't stay
- 14:16Speaker 1: at that cap hit in that salary. I thought he
- 14:18Speaker 1: was a necessary part of the offense and the tight
- 14:21Speaker 1: end room because he is a bridge between Dalton kincaid
- 14:24Speaker 1: and Jackson Hawes. He's a bridge between both of their
- 14:26Speaker 1: skill sets and who they are and what they are
- 14:28Speaker 1: and how they can be used. Plus we know Dalton
- 14:30Speaker 1: Kinkaid's availability and injury history continues to be a thing
- 14:33Speaker 1: year after year. He just couldn't stay at that contract.
- 14:36Speaker 1: So looks like they, you know, an extension and you know,
- 14:39Speaker 1: hopefully comes with a pay cut and the lowering in
- 14:41Speaker 1: that regard. And then Bass, Yeah, you know, he didn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: really have any leverage. I don't think Knox had any
- 14:46Speaker 1: leverage either. Good, no one the Bills were doing that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: His spin says, yeah, Max Crosby back to the Raiders.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Bills have another shot at it. They do. We'll see
- 14:53Speaker 1: how real the medical concerns are. We'll see if maybe
- 14:56Speaker 1: did the Raiders have less leverage now and maybe they
- 14:59Speaker 1: don't get too first for Max Crosby. Maybe teams try
- 15:01Speaker 1: to game them up a little bit in the trade market. Yeah,
- 15:05Speaker 1: and again I wonder does Dallas go hard? Does Chicago
- 15:08Speaker 1: want to back out of some of the things they've
- 15:09Speaker 1: agreed to and now go hard for Max Crosby. We
- 15:14Speaker 1: will see, we will see, I says, up any big
- 15:17Speaker 1: news to talk about tonight that kind of not really
- 15:19Speaker 1: for the Bills. Maybe some other things again, as I'm
- 15:21Speaker 1: going through the chat here. If there is anything that
- 15:27Speaker 1: breaks flooded into the chat, you folks broke the news
- 15:30Speaker 1: to me and Kendall last year about Joey Bosa as
- 15:33Speaker 1: the show was going on, so feel free to put
- 15:36Speaker 1: anything and everything into the chat. I'm going back and
- 15:38Speaker 1: reading through everything from you folks from a conversation standpoint.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Then we'll get into my notes and we'll go from there.
- 15:43Speaker 1: R J says, I would give up a twenty twenty
- 15:45Speaker 1: six first and a twenty twenty seven to third for Max. Yeah,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I think Max Crosby's awesome. I'm a little torn on
- 15:55Speaker 1: just the only risk was someone like Crosby for the
- 15:57Speaker 1: Bills and even Trey Henderson in that regard, right, I know,
- 16:00Speaker 1: And I guess we'll talk about this now since we're
- 16:01Speaker 1: having this kind of conversation a little bit like and
- 16:04Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of rumors floating around about
- 16:05Speaker 1: the Bills being in on Trey Hendrickson and kind of
- 16:08Speaker 1: this idea of like, oh, maybe they're sitting back biding
- 16:10Speaker 1: their time, waiting to hear about Trey Hendrickson and then
- 16:14Speaker 1: they'll go from there. And I get that notion. I
- 16:17Speaker 1: think it's fair. My only worry with like going all
- 16:19Speaker 1: in as much for the bills going on, and given
- 16:22Speaker 1: the financial and draft capital resources they have, going all
- 16:25Speaker 1: in for either of those guys is kind of similar
- 16:27Speaker 1: to the Von Miller decision a couple of years ago,
- 16:29Speaker 1: which worked until von Miller got hurt. But again, if
- 16:33Speaker 1: you put all your eggs into one basket and that
- 16:36Speaker 1: basket breaks it all, you're screwed, which again is what
- 16:41Speaker 1: is my main hang up on the Dj Moore trade.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Like I think DJ Moore is a fine player, I
- 16:45Speaker 1: didn't like having to give up a second for him,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and I didn't like all the financial commitment that you
- 16:49Speaker 1: have to give for him, like it has an opportunity
- 16:52Speaker 1: cost for other moves you could have made. And I
- 16:54Speaker 1: do think there are a multitude of needs and upgrades
- 16:58Speaker 1: that this team needs, especially on the defensive side of
- 17:01Speaker 1: the ball. So if you're sinking a lot of resources
- 17:05Speaker 1: into one guy or a few guys, that's fine, but
- 17:09Speaker 1: those dudes have to stay the course. And we saw
- 17:12Speaker 1: what happened with von Miller, right They put all their
- 17:13Speaker 1: eggs into the von Miller basket, and that basket looked great,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden that basket towards towards
- 17:19Speaker 1: a cl and that that that defense fell apart, so
- 17:24Speaker 1: we'll see, Yeah, Spinning has Spinner saying, yeah, Crosby had
- 17:28Speaker 1: a meniscus tear and not a trim. I guess whatever
- 17:31Speaker 1: that means. And he failed the physical with the Ravens. Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 1: but I don't know how. You have plenty of guys
- 17:36Speaker 1: who have like off off season surgery, so I don't
- 17:39Speaker 1: know if there's validity to it, Like did the meniscus
- 17:41Speaker 1: surgery go wrong? Did the Ravens doctor see something they
- 17:43Speaker 1: legitimately didn't like, or did they want to flag something
- 17:46Speaker 1: just to flag something. Is Crosby's knee jacked up? Does
- 17:49Speaker 1: he need another procedure? Is he fine? It's just weird,
- 17:52Speaker 1: like we see off season deals happen all the time,
- 17:55Speaker 1: or off season surgeries happen all the time, and no
- 17:59Speaker 1: one's really ever worse for wear, and this type of
- 18:02Speaker 1: scenario doesn't really happen. So it'll be interesting to kind
- 18:05Speaker 1: of see what comes out, what gets leaked, and how
- 18:07Speaker 1: each side wants to leak it. Right, the Raiders are
- 18:09Speaker 1: gonna leak stuff. Crosby's camp is gonna leak stuff. The
- 18:12Speaker 1: Ravens camp is gonna leak stuff. It'll be interesting. Jason says,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't want any big committal new contracts on defense
- 18:18Speaker 1: until next year, and we see the change in scheme
- 18:21Speaker 1: and what we truly need fair, but you do need
- 18:24Speaker 1: certain players or certain skill sets, body types and roles
- 18:28Speaker 1: to maximize this Bill's defense. And we can play that
- 18:31Speaker 1: game and say like, hey, we don't want any big
- 18:33Speaker 1: contracts on defense until next year, which is fine, but
- 18:36Speaker 1: you still need to address the defense this year, even
- 18:38Speaker 1: just from a having bodies on the roster, like even
- 18:42Speaker 1: if everything stayed the same, they don't have enough bodies
- 18:44Speaker 1: on defense to play defense, like I mean in theory
- 18:47Speaker 1: they do, but not good bodies are the right bodies.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They need to add people defensively, and then even more
- 18:54Speaker 1: so because of the scheme change and the guys I wanted,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I didn't think and nobody was a big committal from
- 19:02Speaker 1: a new contract defensively like Kobe Bryant, Jalen Thompson, Brian
- 19:06Speaker 1: Cook got eighteen million guaranteed in his first year, which
- 19:08Speaker 1: is a lot, So maybe that throws things off a
- 19:11Speaker 1: little bit, but I didn't think Chanel's deal was crazy.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Ellis got a little more than I thought, at eleven
- 19:15Speaker 1: million dollars per year three years, thirty three mil. But again,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I don't think that's a big committal or anything out
- 19:21Speaker 1: of range. But we'll see, we'll see, we'll see. Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 1: Spin says, Channel went to the commanders, big bummer. I agree,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I agree, I agree.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Else what else?
- 19:37Speaker 1: Jays says. I blame Kendall for anything I can blame
- 19:39Speaker 1: him for as well, even if it has nothing to
- 19:41Speaker 1: do with him. My food got burned, I blame Kendall.
- 19:42Speaker 1: My electric bill higher than I thought. I blame Kendall.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna end up screenshining this and send him that
- 19:46Speaker 1: to him later. That's funny, Charles says. While other teams
- 19:51Speaker 1: out there throwing around fun coupon's in free agency, Bean
- 19:54Speaker 1: is playing for dy Chess, waiting for the Crosby deal
- 19:57Speaker 1: to fall through. Two pounds. Yeah, maybe maybe he is again,
- 20:02Speaker 1: or even in seriousness, like the thought is like they're
- 20:04Speaker 1: gonna go for Trey Henderson, and so they're like, Okay,
- 20:08Speaker 1: instead of getting three B level signings, we're gonna try
- 20:15Speaker 1: and go for one A minus and who knows, you know,
- 20:19Speaker 1: we'll see. I think you know, there are some concerns
- 20:20Speaker 1: with Hendrickson just from an injury standpoint now. But I
- 20:23Speaker 1: get that notion of maybe going for a bigger fish.
- 20:25Speaker 1: But again, nothing can happen to that big fish, which
- 20:28Speaker 1: it is what worries me. But we'll see, we'll see,
- 20:32Speaker 1: we'll see, we'll see. Mmmmmmmm common hear about Jordan Hancock.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I think Hancock just needs more snaps. He'll settle in.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I'm iffy on Jordan Hancock. I I didn't see anything
- 20:45Speaker 1: that you know on tape last year that made me
- 20:47Speaker 1: go like, oh, this is the guy like a lot
- 20:49Speaker 1: of promise. Let's let let's give him more snaps and
- 20:51Speaker 1: time on task. Could he get better? Absolutely, I'm just
- 20:55Speaker 1: much much, much more comfortable with him being a deaf
- 20:57Speaker 1: guy at this point, whether it's the nickel or whether
- 20:59Speaker 1: it's the safe. I mean, he granted, Jordan Poyer knows
- 21:04Speaker 1: the system, and we know how much McDermott loves guys
- 21:06Speaker 1: that he trusts and are responsible. But the fact that
- 21:09Speaker 1: they went with Poyer, who didn't really have any legs left,
- 21:12Speaker 1: Granted he played well, we're better than I thought, I
- 21:13Speaker 1: should say, the fact that they went with Poyer regularly
- 21:16Speaker 1: and only used Hancock in certain instances and situations. I
- 21:19Speaker 1: think that's telling for Poyer but also for Hancock in
- 21:22Speaker 1: a negative way for Hancock. But we'll see. Yeah, I'm
- 21:25Speaker 1: not I think Hancock's fine depth guys, as of this moment.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm not ready to give him a starting spot as
- 21:33Speaker 1: of now. Charles says, between the age, injuries, and scheme fit,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I'm not too I'm not too interested in Hendrickson. Yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I think that's also an issue too, right, Like, if
- 21:42Speaker 1: you are obviously in the four down even front stuff, boom,
- 21:45Speaker 1: it works. But if you're trying to do odd front stuff,
- 21:48Speaker 1: are you gonna drop him into coverage? Like how comfortable
- 21:50Speaker 1: is he with that? You've got him and Groot? Like
- 21:52Speaker 1: Groot can drop actually into coverage like pretty decently or
- 21:54Speaker 1: better than you would think. But you've got two edges
- 21:58Speaker 1: or defensive ends however want to label it. But you've
- 22:00Speaker 1: got two edges and odd front looks where neither are
- 22:04Speaker 1: really like a strong coverage player, so neither are really
- 22:08Speaker 1: true would be true hybrid edges. So how does that
- 22:12Speaker 1: limit you a little bit? Right? Like, it's not like
- 22:14Speaker 1: the you know, if you're going to the Steelers, for example,
- 22:17Speaker 1: under dick la Bowl. Right, you had like James Harrison
- 22:19Speaker 1: and Joey Porter, and it was like, Okay, these guys
- 22:21Speaker 1: are nasty against the run and nastiest pass rushers, but
- 22:23Speaker 1: they can drop a little bit. They're more like outside
- 22:25Speaker 1: linebackers playing as edges. Hendrickson and Rousseau would both be
- 22:30Speaker 1: two true edges or two true defensive ends and kind
- 22:35Speaker 1: of going for there. And as r J says, it's
- 22:38Speaker 1: tough because the Bills need so much just to be
- 22:40Speaker 1: functional this season and they have almost no cap space left. Yeah,
- 22:44Speaker 1: it's not easy. It's not easy. Oh we got super chet.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I gotta go through. I gotta stop Padden. I appreciate
- 22:52Speaker 1: you being here as always. I knew where this was going.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Padden says, if backing out of trades is the thing,
- 22:57Speaker 1: then anything is possible. Looks like hash tag Edgemonds is
- 23:01Speaker 1: back on the menu. Boys, have a fun few days.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And I appreciate you, Pad, thank you for lighting the mood.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I knew, I knew where that was going. Well done,
- 23:13Speaker 1: well played. It might be back on the menu. That's
- 23:15Speaker 1: super funny. Oh well, i'm here, Jason said, Is that
- 23:18Speaker 1: a Tiffany lamp? It is? I'm horriboys. Yeah, it is
- 23:21Speaker 1: a Tiffany lamp. It belonged to my grandmother, so I
- 23:26Speaker 1: keep it there. Good call, good eye Boa, hold on,
- 23:31Speaker 1: we gotta go back, We gotta go back. Okay, I'm
- 23:33Speaker 1: back to where the check keep going. Charles says, I
- 23:38Speaker 1: think the contract I liked most for the Bills to
- 23:40Speaker 1: match was Alohi Gilman, and of course he goes to
- 23:42Speaker 1: Kansas City with Spags. I was, yeah, I was lukewarm
- 23:45Speaker 1: on Gilman. I think he got what three years twenty
- 23:47Speaker 1: four million something like that, so super affordable. I just
- 23:51Speaker 1: didn't really like him like that. Reblankenship got decently paid
- 23:55Speaker 1: as well. I think read I think he got two
- 24:00Speaker 1: years twenty four million, three years twenty four million. Yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: so he got an eight million dollar deal. If if
- 24:06Speaker 1: it was between like Blankenship and Gilman, I would rather
- 24:09Speaker 1: give and read Blankenship that money. He goes to Houston
- 24:12Speaker 1: now and solidifies the safety spot next to Kaylen Bullock,
- 24:15Speaker 1: which is cool. I would rather give them money to
- 24:17Speaker 1: Blankenship than Gilman. I get your you know, your like
- 24:20Speaker 1: for Gilman, and there's a lot of people who like Yilman.
- 24:22Speaker 1: He's mah for me, but he would have taken around
- 24:26Speaker 1: this point seeing where they are now.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Hmmm what else?
- 24:36Speaker 2: Oh?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Comment question here? What do you think is more important
- 24:40Speaker 1: big time rusher or filling out other holes in the defense?
- 24:43Speaker 1: And do you think are both? Do you think both
- 24:45Speaker 1: are possible this offseason?
- 24:47Speaker 3: Oh?
- 24:49Speaker 1: Really great question. Oh I'm I'm always a quality over
- 25:00Speaker 1: guy with it within certain levels. I do think the
- 25:05Speaker 1: Bills need a true edge, one rusher off the edge
- 25:09Speaker 1: to pair with Greg Russo. I'm gonna keep saying that
- 25:12Speaker 1: Greg Russo is more of a Robin than he is
- 25:14Speaker 1: a Batman as a pass rusher. So you either got
- 25:16Speaker 1: to get a Batman or you got to get another Robin,
- 25:17Speaker 1: or you got to get a night wing and a
- 25:19Speaker 1: Robin something like that. Right. I think with where the
- 25:23Speaker 1: Bills currently stand, I think they need more quantity, right,
- 25:28Speaker 1: like you need you need a starting safety, you even
- 25:32Speaker 1: just in this defense. Right, but again a lot of
- 25:34Speaker 1: these holes needed to be filled, even if Sean McDermott
- 25:38Speaker 1: and the rest of the defensive crusade from last year. Right,
- 25:40Speaker 1: But you need a starting safety, You need a starting
- 25:44Speaker 1: linebacker next to Bernard. You need a starting edge. You
- 25:48Speaker 1: also need a third and a fourth edge, depending on
- 25:52Speaker 1: how you feel about Javon Solomon. You need another nose
- 25:55Speaker 1: tackle Like, it can't just be Dion Walker and Faderian
- 25:58Speaker 1: mathis Like that doesn't work for me at least. I
- 26:02Speaker 1: think you need a starting four eye. Sebastian Joseph Day
- 26:04Speaker 1: is out there. I think still go get Sebastian Joseph Day.
- 26:08Speaker 1: You can't have your starting four eyes be like, let's
- 26:11Speaker 1: talk about the interior defensive line right now, right, Like,
- 26:13Speaker 1: if we're looking at the three known quantities from last
- 26:15Speaker 1: year of ed Oliver, TJ. Sanders, Dion Walker, right, you
- 26:20Speaker 1: can't have a starting interior and an odd front of
- 26:23Speaker 1: Ed Oliver to four eye Dion Walker at nos TJ.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Sanders at a four eye you can't rock with that.
- 26:27Speaker 1: You got to have somebody's got to start ahead at TJ.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Sanders at four. I now you could sign a four eye, right,
- 26:34Speaker 1: it could be Sebastian Joseph Day cool. Or you could
- 26:37Speaker 1: have Deon Walker be your starting four eye and you
- 26:40Speaker 1: could sign two noses, Or you could sign a nose
- 26:43Speaker 1: to work in rotation with Walker. Let that nose eat
- 26:45Speaker 1: the run defense snaps. I think Walker can play nose.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I don't think he should full time. He's not built
- 26:51Speaker 1: to stop the run inside. He can penetrate, he can move,
- 26:54Speaker 1: he can do fun stuff. But let's get a true
- 26:56Speaker 1: nose in there to be a stone in the center
- 26:58Speaker 1: of the defense, and let's let Walker move around in
- 27:01Speaker 1: different spots and be used as the fun kind of
- 27:04Speaker 1: unicorn bear that he is. But I just don't think
- 27:07Speaker 1: he's built to play the ugly downs regularly on the run,
- 27:10Speaker 1: play the early downs against the run on the interior,
- 27:13Speaker 1: and gum things up. Everything's gonna have to be penetration
- 27:16Speaker 1: based or move and based, which again is part of
- 27:18Speaker 1: what Jim Leonard does, and it can work. It's just
- 27:20Speaker 1: very risk reward and you can get caught out. And
- 27:23Speaker 1: I want to have as much variability as possible if
- 27:26Speaker 1: I want to be able to play rock paper scissors
- 27:28Speaker 1: and be able to throw rock paper and scissors. But
- 27:30Speaker 1: the interior defensive line needs starters in some capacity and depth.
- 27:36Speaker 1: The edge grouping needs a starter, and depth safety needs
- 27:40Speaker 1: a starter, and depth linebacker needs a starter and depth
- 27:45Speaker 1: because right now you've only got Dorian and Bernard, and
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't think Dorian is ready to be a full
- 27:49Speaker 1: time starter yet. So for me, right now, the answers both.
- 27:53Speaker 1: If I had to pick, I'd fill out the other
- 27:55Speaker 1: holes in the defense. I don't think both are possible.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I don't think they can get a big time rusher
- 28:01Speaker 1: and fill out the other holes in the defense. You'd
- 28:02Speaker 1: have to really hope the draft board falls your way.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And now that you don't have a second round pick,
- 28:08Speaker 1: that's even harder. So now you have to trade back.
- 28:12Speaker 1: You'd have to trade back from your first round pick
- 28:14Speaker 1: at pick twenty six, try and get a third, or
- 28:17Speaker 1: recoup a second, try and figure something else out. There's
- 28:19Speaker 1: just a lot of moving parts to be able to
- 28:21Speaker 1: make both happen and have everything fall the right way.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And so I right now, for me, I think it's
- 28:26Speaker 1: more important to fill out the other holes. On defense.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Question here from Mohamed M six what type of linebacker
- 28:34Speaker 1: and corners would fit best in the three to four
- 28:36Speaker 1: scheme on defense? In terms of body type, et cetera.
- 28:38Speaker 1: In terms of linebacker, we're talking inside. You know what
- 28:41Speaker 1: Bernard is coverage small, not built to take on blocks, right,
- 28:47Speaker 1: So you need somebody next to him who's capable of
- 28:49Speaker 1: some downhill thump, right, somebody who can play next to
- 28:52Speaker 1: him in an odd front and rush rush, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 1: play the A gap, play the B gap, take on
- 28:56Speaker 1: a block, deconstruct a block match with some offensive lineman,
- 29:00Speaker 1: the full back, somebody who's capable again of playing downhill stacking, shedding,
- 29:05Speaker 1: or deconstructing a block, a physical downhill presence at that
- 29:08Speaker 1: interior spot. Now again, ideally, which is part of why
- 29:13Speaker 1: I liked Chanel and ellis you could get somebody like
- 29:16Speaker 1: them at that spot, and then they could also in
- 29:19Speaker 1: your sub package looks could play defensive end or edge
- 29:21Speaker 1: in your four down stuff, which would be fun. And
- 29:24Speaker 1: or you know, they could also kick down as the
- 29:27Speaker 1: end man on the line of scrimmage in an odd
- 29:28Speaker 1: front and rush, or you know, play the run. There
- 29:31Speaker 1: was just so much fun there, and I think that's
- 29:34Speaker 1: where it starts. Like you need hybridized players at linebacker,
- 29:37Speaker 1: whether it's in the interior or on the edge, if
- 29:39Speaker 1: you know, if you're talking at outside linebacker or your edges.
- 29:42Speaker 1: You need guys who are capable of winning as rushers,
- 29:45Speaker 1: playing the run, and who can also drop in coverage
- 29:47Speaker 1: a little bit. So you need some combination of you know, speed, athleticism,
- 29:52Speaker 1: change the direction, some bend, some pass rush moves, some
- 29:56Speaker 1: physicality because they have to wear multiple hats. And then
- 30:00Speaker 1: at the inside linebacker spot again they've got to be
- 30:02Speaker 1: able to cover a little bit still, But you need
- 30:05Speaker 1: somebody who can play coming forward, ideally to pair with
- 30:07Speaker 1: Terrell Bernard. But again, isn't going to be completely lost
- 30:12Speaker 1: in coverage. That's my biggest gripe with Dorian, Like, I
- 30:14Speaker 1: think Dorian is still a guy who gets lost in
- 30:16Speaker 1: coverage too often for my liking. He can answer that
- 30:19Speaker 1: downhill thump aspect, but I think he gets lost in
- 30:21Speaker 1: coverage a little too much for me still. But yeah,
- 30:24Speaker 1: in terms of body, type of skill set, et cetera,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you need, you need versatility, You need hybridized type of players. Right,
- 30:31Speaker 1: You need guys who can wear multiple hats. Is he blitzing?
- 30:35Speaker 1: Is he dropping into coverage? Can he beat a guy
- 30:37Speaker 1: one on one as a pass rusher? Can he jump
- 30:39Speaker 1: and dart inside? Right? Can he hold the edge and
- 30:41Speaker 1: play the run? Can this guy get downhill as an
- 30:44Speaker 1: inside linebacker and fill anywhere from the A gap to
- 30:46Speaker 1: the sea gap type of deal? So you need, you know,
- 30:50Speaker 1: pieces like that again, versatility from the linebacker's versatility corners
- 30:55Speaker 1: For Jim Leonard at least I think you need. You
- 30:57Speaker 1: need guys who can play some match coverage and play
- 30:59Speaker 1: some man coverage, so it's not pure zone corner corners.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I think you need some guys who can play man
- 31:04Speaker 1: and who can play match. So again, ideally, you need
- 31:06Speaker 1: athleticism there. You need some juice, you need some semblance
- 31:09Speaker 1: of physicality. You need the ability to stay sticky to
- 31:13Speaker 1: guys and stay in their back pocket. And that could
- 31:15Speaker 1: be because your technique is great, or because you have
- 31:17Speaker 1: great recovery speed, or your feet are great like Max Harriston,
- 31:20Speaker 1: things like that. I think I think corner is decently
- 31:24Speaker 1: answered at the top, right, I think Benford and Harriston
- 31:28Speaker 1: plug lock them in as you as your two starters,
- 31:30Speaker 1: You're fine, right. You can play man, you can play zone,
- 31:33Speaker 1: you can play some match stuff. You can do some press,
- 31:35Speaker 1: you can do some true press, some soft shoe type
- 31:38Speaker 1: of stuff and mirroring. I think there's a lot of
- 31:41Speaker 1: things they can get after with their top two corners.
- 31:44Speaker 1: But you know, I really think it starts with a corner.
- 31:46Speaker 1: It's just athleticism and being able to play a little
- 31:49Speaker 1: bit everything, some man, some match coverage, and some zone
- 31:52Speaker 1: and then linebacker. You need hybridized guys, hybrid guys, versatility,
- 31:56Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. M chriss, what's the plan?
- 32:02Speaker 1: What's the linebacker plan? Now? All in on the draft?
- 32:05Speaker 1: I guess uh.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Just.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Sure tough. You have to really hope things fall your way.
- 32:16Speaker 1: As at this point, again, there are still let me
- 32:19Speaker 1: go and see what I what linebackers are still out there.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I mean, you could go with Drake green Law, you
- 32:24Speaker 1: could go with your Maine Pratt, you could bring Shack
- 32:27Speaker 1: Thompson back. I believe these guys are all still on
- 32:31Speaker 1: the list or you haven't signed. Suppose would be my
- 32:35Speaker 1: top options right now. You're either looking at I would
- 32:37Speaker 1: look at your main Pratt, maybe even Bobby Oka Oka,
- 32:40Speaker 1: but I look at your main Pratt, I look at
- 32:41Speaker 1: dra Greenlaw or Shaq Thompson, Jack Sanborn maybe, but I
- 32:47Speaker 1: like it more as a deaf guy than a starter
- 32:49Speaker 1: next to Bernard. So I think you go for more
- 32:51Speaker 1: of a VET on a short term deal and then
- 32:53Speaker 1: hope the draft falls your way. And maybe you are
- 32:56Speaker 1: going with C. J. Allen from Georgia. Maybe you are
- 32:58Speaker 1: going with Trotter from Missouri or one of the other
- 33:01Speaker 1: backers that you got there. But you still have to
- 33:04Speaker 1: answer safety, so safety's money as well. Yeah, it's tough
- 33:09Speaker 1: a Derek with the fat joke quote yesterday's price not
- 33:13Speaker 1: today's price. Well done, well done, well done, well done.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Big Time Objective says, because they could they bring Bosa
- 33:21Speaker 1: back on the right deal. Sure, I just don't think
- 33:25Speaker 1: he's a good fit now with what they want to
- 33:27Speaker 1: do defensively. You know, he's again more of a straight
- 33:30Speaker 1: edge defensive end, power compression type of guy. I think
- 33:33Speaker 1: you need someone with a little more versatility on the outside,
- 33:35Speaker 1: a little more bend, a little more fluidity, a little
- 33:37Speaker 1: more juice, someone who can drop into coverage but still
- 33:40Speaker 1: get after it in the run in the past. So
- 33:42Speaker 1: for me, I don't think he's the right fit given
- 33:45Speaker 1: the new direction of the defense. Uh grab both these,
- 33:50Speaker 1: Tristan says would have preferred the the Dobbs deal and
- 33:53Speaker 1: keeping the second Amaicus as King says, second round pick
- 33:56Speaker 1: isn't a guaranteed playmaker. DJ Moore is, Yeah, I was
- 33:59Speaker 1: gonna talk about later and I will talk about a
- 34:00Speaker 1: more in depthal answer here on the question. Now, I
- 34:04Speaker 1: would have just for the deals that were handed out,
- 34:06Speaker 1: like with what Dobbs got believed there was a whole
- 34:08Speaker 1: different bunch of different reports of Romeo Dobbs, but the
- 34:10Speaker 1: biggest one was four years eighty million. I figured he
- 34:13Speaker 1: was gonna get around twenty million per year. I would
- 34:16Speaker 1: have rather had the Romeo Dobbs deal than the DJ
- 34:19Speaker 1: More deal. I think DJ Moore is probably the better
- 34:23Speaker 1: receiver at this point, though Dobbs can still improve and ascend.
- 34:27Speaker 1: For me personally, Dobbs' skill set is one that I
- 34:30Speaker 1: just gravitate towards More. You know, technicality, route running, deception,
- 34:34Speaker 1: release package, all that kind of stuff. DJ Moore you
- 34:39Speaker 1: know I talked about on the show with Nate Tice
- 34:40Speaker 1: last week. You know, he wins with athleticism and speed
- 34:42Speaker 1: and burst and all that kind of stuff. Though that
- 34:46Speaker 1: skill set in those traits don't necessarily age gracefully for
- 34:50Speaker 1: a guy, and then having to commit as much money
- 34:53Speaker 1: as they did to him, plus the second round pick
- 34:57Speaker 1: everything in totality, and you still need to ad a
- 35:00Speaker 1: receiver so and you need to add other things on
- 35:02Speaker 1: the roster. I just think DJ Moore's contract plus the
- 35:05Speaker 1: second round pick prevents you from doing other things. And
- 35:10Speaker 1: even though I think More is this is the better receiver.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Although him and Dobbs are both wide receiver twos. To me,
- 35:16Speaker 1: I just think to get Dobbs, all you had added
- 35:19Speaker 1: to do was give him the money, which is less
- 35:21Speaker 1: money than you're giving Dj Moore, and you wouldn't have
- 35:25Speaker 1: to give up a draft pick to do it. So
- 35:26Speaker 1: I would have rather taken Dobbs and the cheaper contract
- 35:29Speaker 1: and kept my draft pick and then made other moves.
- 35:32Speaker 1: And yes, second round pick, any draft pick isn't a
- 35:36Speaker 1: guarantee of anything, you know. If you told me my
- 35:38Speaker 1: options are a second round wide receiver or DJ Moore,
- 35:42Speaker 1: I would take dj Moore. He's a known quantity. I
- 35:44Speaker 1: know what he can produce. Even the most short of
- 35:47Speaker 1: short things in the prospect world are not guaranteed at all.
- 35:50Speaker 1: That's why there is no exact science for the draft.
- 35:53Speaker 1: So I would take Dj Moore over any draft pick
- 35:55Speaker 1: because it's a guarantee. But the deal in totality I
- 35:59Speaker 1: would take, and the cheaper cost financially in draft capitalize
- 36:04Speaker 1: than the deal in totality. If it's just pure player
- 36:07Speaker 1: for player in a vacuum, I would gravitate a little
- 36:11Speaker 1: more towards Dobbs because I like his skill set and
- 36:13Speaker 1: I think he can still go forward, but I think
- 36:16Speaker 1: DJ Moore right now is the better receiver. I think
- 36:18Speaker 1: he is a good fit for the Bills, the vertical stretch,
- 36:20Speaker 1: the horizontal stretch. I just think everything in totality again,
- 36:23Speaker 1: the cost financially and draft capitalized is what I didn't love,
- 36:33Speaker 1: Jason says, I think we draft a safety. I don't
- 36:34Speaker 1: see anyone ready to start Week one on the roster
- 36:36Speaker 1: right now next to Cole Bishop. I want Kevin Bayern
- 36:40Speaker 1: from Chicago. I think he can work and you go
- 36:43Speaker 1: from there. That's what I'm looking for. Oh, this is cool.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Love from London, the UK, by the way, appreciate you.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I'm interested to know what soccer team you support, and
- 36:53Speaker 1: I hope it's not Tottenham because last I saw they
- 36:55Speaker 1: were getting rocked in Champions League today by the athletic
- 36:57Speaker 1: Um Madrid. And I don't say that negatively. Barcelona guy,
- 37:01Speaker 1: and I was sweating and stressing the entire afternoon because
- 37:03Speaker 1: I thought we were gonna lose to Newcastle after I
- 37:07Speaker 1: just I thought Newcastle was gonna put up both and
- 37:09Speaker 1: then they eventually scored one and I was like, all right,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you're going back to Camp new down one Oho. But there.
- 37:13Speaker 3: We're going through.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Bom bom bomb question here with Leo Chanel and Roy
- 37:23Speaker 1: Lopez and PJ lock Gone, who do you think can
- 37:25Speaker 1: fill those holes? Defensive tackle, I'm looking at DJ Reader
- 37:29Speaker 1: linebacker we talked about. I'm looking at your main Pratt.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I'm looking at Shaq Thompson. I'm looking at Dre Greenlaw.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I would probably lean Pratt over everybody Pratt Shack then
- 37:41Speaker 1: green Law just because the injury history with green Law.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Defensive tackle. I'm looking at DJ Reader. I'd look at
- 37:45Speaker 1: Andrew Billings this again. I'm looking for a space eater
- 37:49Speaker 1: role player at this point. Safety, I'm looking at Kevin Byer.
- 37:52Speaker 1: That is the top guy for me right now. I
- 37:54Speaker 1: think you need more of a free safety presence, a
- 37:58Speaker 1: more of a safety, I should say, range based, ball
- 38:03Speaker 1: hawking type of safety. I think Bayer would pair really
- 38:05Speaker 1: well with Cole Bishop, just like Buyered pair well with Brisker.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Brisker and cold Bishop are very similar players. So instead
- 38:12Speaker 1: of getting like Brisker to pair with Crosby and you
- 38:14Speaker 1: have to like same same, I would rather get Kevin Byerd.
- 38:17Speaker 1: So that's that's my top piece right there. Nicholas is
- 38:22Speaker 1: watching all these safety sign for very fair money. Bean
- 38:24Speaker 1: must have a clause in Leonard's contract that says he
- 38:26Speaker 1: needs to come back and start a lotside Bishop, that's funny,
- 38:31Speaker 1: that's funny. Good comment here from Jason who says fill
- 38:34Speaker 1: the holes and scheme the pressure. I like that. I
- 38:37Speaker 1: like that. I like that. I like that. Brian says
- 38:40Speaker 1: the buffal Bulls should get some more players during free agency.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, I agree, I agree. Bum bum
- 38:48Speaker 1: bum ope Jack being here, thank you very much for
- 38:55Speaker 1: being here. Think of it. The super chat Jack says,
- 38:57Speaker 1: what's Bean's plan right now? Doesn't seemed to be one.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I think that's what's tough with everything. Again, I talked
- 39:03Speaker 1: about a little earlier, like the absence of evidence is
- 39:05Speaker 1: not evidence of absence. Thing Like, for all we know,
- 39:07Speaker 1: Bean could have been in on all these guys that
- 39:10Speaker 1: I've mentioned, or that anybody's mentioned, right, they Bean could
- 39:13Speaker 1: have been in on Kobe Bryant, Jalen Thompson, Brian Cook,
- 39:16Speaker 1: Roy Lopez, Leo Chanel, Caden ellis right. He could have
- 39:19Speaker 1: been out bid. He you know, maybe offered more but
- 39:25Speaker 1: the player didn't want to go there. He could have
- 39:26Speaker 1: offered the same and the player decided to go somewhere else.
- 39:29Speaker 1: We don't know. I do think Bean is trying. It's
- 39:32Speaker 1: just a matter of how good he is at trying
- 39:34Speaker 1: and whether or not he's able to execute. I do
- 39:36Speaker 1: think there is a plan, it's just a little unfortunate
- 39:39Speaker 1: with how it all looks right now. I do think.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I do think there is some credibility to the idea
- 39:43Speaker 1: that they are in seriously on Trey Hendrickson, and they
- 39:48Speaker 1: know what it's going to cost, so they're kind of
- 39:51Speaker 1: biding their time, I guess, which I think is understandable.
- 39:54Speaker 1: But I also don't think is a good plan because
- 39:57Speaker 1: you're getting you're passing up on opportunities for other guys
- 40:01Speaker 1: these first couple of days, and passing up the opportunity
- 40:04Speaker 1: to fill other needs that are needs and being able
- 40:07Speaker 1: to fill them with good players who are also cost
- 40:09Speaker 1: effective at the same time, So you're losing that opportunity,
- 40:12Speaker 1: and you're still not guaranteeing yourself that you're going to
- 40:15Speaker 1: get Trey Hendrickson unless maybe they know already, but according
- 40:17Speaker 1: to reports they don't. And even on top of that,
- 40:20Speaker 1: you're still putting all your eggs or a lot of
- 40:22Speaker 1: your eggs into one basket and we've seen Nech go
- 40:24Speaker 1: sideways for this team before, So I think there is
- 40:27Speaker 1: a plan. I just don't think it's a good one
- 40:31Speaker 1: right now. But again, and I don't even think that's
- 40:35Speaker 1: necessarily tied to this year. I think it's a culmination
- 40:37Speaker 1: of a lot of things. Right It's the dead cap
- 40:38Speaker 1: of all these guys that they signed before. It's the
- 40:41Speaker 1: void yeer for Matt Mulano this year, and the voideer
- 40:44Speaker 1: for Larry Ogan Jobi, and the voidier for Daikwon Jones,
- 40:47Speaker 1: and signing Dawson Knox to too much of a deal
- 40:50Speaker 1: when they did, and maybe being too early with Terre
- 40:52Speaker 1: Bernard and he's not going to be who he thought
- 40:54Speaker 1: he was going to be, and all these moves that
- 40:57Speaker 1: they that have just kind of bit them a little bit,
- 41:00Speaker 1: and then not drafting the right guys at the right time.
- 41:09Speaker 1: This is a fair comment from Alfa. Croz says, We've
- 41:11Speaker 1: never had defensive end production that has a cost over replacement,
- 41:14Speaker 1: meaning there's never been a season where I would have
- 41:16Speaker 1: taken the salary we gave over the play we were
- 41:19Speaker 1: given just get high potential. My only thought with that is,
- 41:22Speaker 1: as I do trust Jim Leonard to do a better
- 41:25Speaker 1: job of scheming things up, which is why I don't
- 41:27Speaker 1: think you necessarily need the big gun or the hired gun,
- 41:30Speaker 1: although I would take it, and I do think there
- 41:32Speaker 1: is some semblance of need there. But I do trust
- 41:34Speaker 1: Jim Leonard to raise the floor from a scheme instructure perspective.
- 41:37Speaker 1: But that's a fair point. I like this from Tristan
- 41:44Speaker 1: and saying pie in the sky. I hope for me
- 41:45Speaker 1: if somebody gives us a nice haul at twenty six
- 41:47Speaker 1: to move up for Ty Simpson, if someone wants to
- 41:50Speaker 1: trade up into the first round and give the bills
- 41:53Speaker 1: like a first and a second or a second round
- 41:56Speaker 1: pick and you know something later, I would love that.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Or a two and a three are some kind of
- 42:03Speaker 1: something where they can maximize. I don't want to fall
- 42:06Speaker 1: two back into, you know, the middle of round two
- 42:10Speaker 1: so they can get some combo of hey, you've got
- 42:11Speaker 1: an early Day two pick and then another day two
- 42:14Speaker 1: pick on top of it. I would take that.
- 42:18Speaker 3: I would take that bomb bomb bum oh. Comment here
- 42:25Speaker 3: from more question, what are you looking forward to more
- 42:26Speaker 3: of the defense of the offense this season. I'm looking
- 42:30Speaker 3: more forward to the defense because I love Jim Leonard,
- 42:32Speaker 3: and I've wanted him in Buffalo for years, so I'm
- 42:34Speaker 3: looking more forward to the defense schematically and from a
- 42:37Speaker 3: Leonard standpoint. I'm not looking forward to the defense from
- 42:40Speaker 3: a who's on the field standpoint as of right now.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But that's just me is comment. I just want to
- 42:47Speaker 1: hear Ant talk about the Stone, the Stone defensive line archetype.
- 42:50Speaker 1: It seems like Bean doesn't want it, so I'm just
- 42:52Speaker 1: gonna keep talking about it and speaking into the ether
- 42:54Speaker 1: until it happens, and I'm just gonna keep speaking into
- 43:00Speaker 1: existance what Roy says. The tree looks a little light
- 43:04Speaker 1: for the first time, I'm kind of disappointed. No, the
- 43:07Speaker 1: tree is heavy with that green garland with shamrocks on it.
- 43:10Speaker 1: The garland is really thick. I just tried to space
- 43:14Speaker 1: it out properly. I'll move in too much. Sorry if
- 43:16Speaker 1: camera went out of focus. I just spaced it out
- 43:19Speaker 1: properly because the garland is so big. I didn't want
- 43:22Speaker 1: it to overpower the tree, so that's why the spacing
- 43:25Speaker 1: is where it is. The garland is thick and heavy.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I thought it looked really nice. I thought I spaced
- 43:29Speaker 1: it out really good this time. Instead of having to
- 43:31Speaker 1: look too overloaded with Garland Teach. The question here about
- 43:39Speaker 1: Texas linebacker Anthony Hill. Anthony Hill is falling. What do
- 43:41Speaker 1: you think about him? I haven't finished my value I
- 43:43Speaker 1: haven't really even started the linebacker spot in my evaluation.
- 43:47Speaker 1: But I watched him while watching other guys. I didn't
- 43:54Speaker 1: like him as much as I hoped. I found him
- 43:56Speaker 1: to be a bit heavy footed. I didn't like some
- 43:58Speaker 1: of his eyes and his processing in some of his
- 44:00Speaker 1: downhill movement. But again, I have to cleep my evaluation
- 44:03Speaker 1: on him. But right now I'm a bit low on him,
- 44:05Speaker 1: which was unfortunate. Mm hmmmmmmmmmmum.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Oh.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Rob says, who's your ideal pick for the first round
- 44:23Speaker 1: right now? Either a defensive lineman or a safety. Again,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I'm not failing. I'm not finished with either position group,
- 44:30Speaker 1: but right now, it would either be a linebacker, defensive tackle, edge,
- 44:36Speaker 1: or a safety. It's tough. Mm hmmmmmm.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Eric's has still got Joseph Dae sitting there. Yes, if
- 44:45Speaker 1: you have Sebastian Joseph Dae sitting there, I would love that.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I would love that. Curtis has cover one might need
- 44:52Speaker 1: add a Sabers branch eight in a row. We actually,
- 44:54Speaker 1: and I say we myself included myself, Adam Stencil, and
- 44:58Speaker 1: Chris Kepner. I don't know if you're aware of not
- 45:00Speaker 1: several years ago we I forget. I think it was
- 45:05Speaker 1: called playback. It was a platform where we could watch
- 45:07Speaker 1: Sabers games live, the three of us, and then have
- 45:11Speaker 1: people in the chat and we'd watch them together. So
- 45:13Speaker 1: we did cover one Sabers for a little bit. This
- 45:16Speaker 1: was back in maybe like twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three,
- 45:21Speaker 1: something around that time. I think those two years, that season,
- 45:23Speaker 1: the twenty twenty two twenty twenty three season, Yeah, we were.
- 45:27Speaker 1: We did a save. We would watch like at least
- 45:28Speaker 1: one Sabers game every week or every other week, big games,
- 45:31Speaker 1: almost every game whenever we could. It was pretty sweet.
- 45:34Speaker 1: It was pretty sweet. It was pretty sweet. Awesome comment
- 45:39Speaker 1: from Christmas. We're teaching my almost seven year old the
- 45:41Speaker 1: Sabers on the war warpath chant. Vibes are high with her. Yeah.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I went to the Sabers game Sunday night against the Lightning.
- 45:47Speaker 1: It's one of the best experiences I've had in my life.
- 45:50Speaker 1: From a sporting events standpoint. It's the best hockey game
- 45:52Speaker 1: I've ever seen, including live but or obviously live, but
- 45:57Speaker 1: the best hockey game I've ever seen. And then yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 1: leaving the arena Sunday night and just hearing all the
- 46:00Speaker 1: oh sabers on the warpath chance and the energy and
- 46:03Speaker 1: the yeah, the vibes were immaculate. It was awesome. It
- 46:07Speaker 1: was awesome. Derek says, is it necessary to have a
- 46:10Speaker 1: dominant pass rusher and learned scheme or does the scheme
- 46:12Speaker 1: itself produce the pressure along with the body types. I
- 46:16Speaker 1: do think having a dominant rusher helps, but I do
- 46:20Speaker 1: think there is a good chunk of the like there's
- 46:22Speaker 1: gonna be schemeability to the pressure, right, the pressure pass
- 46:25Speaker 1: that his guys take, the five man pressure looks that
- 46:28Speaker 1: he brings the six man stuff, but also just the
- 46:31Speaker 1: overall spacing, the paths, the simulated pressures, the creepers, the
- 46:36Speaker 1: timing of all of it, when he calls them, how
- 46:38Speaker 1: he uses them, based on formation, based on alignment, based
- 46:43Speaker 1: on personnel of the offense, like how he uses them
- 46:45Speaker 1: to attack what an offense is doing. So I do
- 46:49Speaker 1: think the scheme itself will produce pressure, and I do
- 46:52Speaker 1: think having the right body types will unlock that further,
- 46:56Speaker 1: even if the right body types aren't attached to an
- 47:00Speaker 1: amazing or dominant player. So I do think it is
- 47:03Speaker 1: scheme and body type related. And then having a dominant
- 47:07Speaker 1: pass rusher would kind of put it over the top.
- 47:09Speaker 1: But just yeah, I think the floor is there. I
- 47:12Speaker 1: just want these moves done to raise the floor a
- 47:14Speaker 1: little bit and then be able to push this defense
- 47:16Speaker 1: towards the ceiling. Moore, that's a really good question coming
- 47:27Speaker 1: from JG saying, but we've cried all the time we
- 47:29Speaker 1: need dudes too many, okay players, Maybe this is him
- 47:31Speaker 1: getting a dude the affair. Maybe he is going for
- 47:34Speaker 1: a dude, but you're getting a dude. Say it's Tree
- 47:37Speaker 1: Hendrick sinnem Swim, that's what you're talking about. But if
- 47:39Speaker 1: you're getting a dude who's got an injury history, right,
- 47:44Speaker 1: that's still not sound process. And again you're in a
- 47:47Speaker 1: spot where you're thin, right, it's not just the I
- 47:50Speaker 1: think the issue. And then for me, at least because
- 47:52Speaker 1: I'm a person who has said this before, of like
- 47:54Speaker 1: they need more top tier players, they need more difference makers, right,
- 47:59Speaker 1: the issue is more of the guys that they've drafted,
- 48:02Speaker 1: and the guys they've signed, they could have drafted a
- 48:06Speaker 1: difference maker or a better player than when they took.
- 48:08Speaker 1: They could have signed a different player to the same
- 48:11Speaker 1: contract that they signed someone else to and had a
- 48:13Speaker 1: better result. And I think in this instance, now again
- 48:17Speaker 1: everything is fluid. Sometimes you have to change your philosophy
- 48:19Speaker 1: and your approach. I just think with how many holes
- 48:21Speaker 1: they have right now. You know, putting all your putting
- 48:25Speaker 1: most of your eggs into one basket, especially a basket
- 48:28Speaker 1: that's been banged up and broken a little bit the
- 48:31Speaker 1: past several years, isn't two sound. It's tough. But you know, again,
- 48:37Speaker 1: if they got Trey Henderson or if they traded for
- 48:38Speaker 1: Max Crosby, you got a really good player, that's fine.
- 48:41Speaker 1: But if anything happens to those guys, that's really rough.
- 48:44Speaker 1: And we've also seen in a Max Crosby example, right,
- 48:47Speaker 1: not that the Bills defense is the Raiders, especially from
- 48:50Speaker 1: a scheme instructure standpoint under Lenard, but even some of
- 48:52Speaker 1: the talent. But we've seen with Crosby and the Raiders
- 48:54Speaker 1: right where you have a defense with a super high
- 48:57Speaker 1: end player and nothing around him, right, and then especially
- 49:00Speaker 1: if you look at the rest of the defense, right,
- 49:02Speaker 1: like at Oliver even when he's healthies sometimes he disappears,
- 49:04Speaker 1: but he's had injury concerns. You've got Michael Hoyt coming
- 49:08Speaker 1: back and you hope he'll be a good version of himself,
- 49:10Speaker 1: but you don't really know. TJ. Sanders is a question.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Dian Walker I think is a solid player, but still
- 49:16Speaker 1: has some questionable aspects about him. Terrell Bernard has an
- 49:18Speaker 1: injury history. Christian Benford has got injured at times. So
- 49:23Speaker 1: to take a big swing with this current unit and group,
- 49:29Speaker 1: given the questions and the starters, and then the question
- 49:32Speaker 1: at the holes and the defense from a depth standpoint
- 49:34Speaker 1: as well, I just don't think now is the right
- 49:36Speaker 1: time to make that big swing. If they do it,
- 49:39Speaker 1: I'm not gonna hate it, but I could see it.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I think I could realistically see it going sideways. If
- 49:45Speaker 1: something happens to Hendrick sent or Crosby, they're screwed, right,
- 49:49Speaker 1: And even with one of those guys, they still need
- 49:52Speaker 1: to address a bunch of other stuff. Connor says, how
- 49:56Speaker 1: sick are you about the linebacker market and the Bills
- 49:58Speaker 1: not getting any of them. I'm pretty sick right now,
- 50:00Speaker 1: and I'm not pleased, but it is what it is
- 50:06Speaker 1: bum bum bum ah. I just says, at miss playback
- 50:09Speaker 1: so much. It was playback, Okay, I couldn't remember if
- 50:11Speaker 1: I said that or not. James says, Aunt, what trade
- 50:14Speaker 1: value draft capital would Ray Davis carry now that he
- 50:17Speaker 1: was a first team All Pro kick returner. Ooh, I
- 50:22Speaker 1: don't think much. Maybe like a fourth or a fifth.
- 50:26Speaker 1: You know, he's a third round running back. You're still
- 50:29Speaker 1: even if again, being an All Pro kick returner, no
- 50:31Speaker 1: one's going to give up like a Day two pick
- 50:33Speaker 1: for that. So at best you're looking at like a
- 50:34Speaker 1: fourth or a fifth because he can also play some
- 50:37Speaker 1: running back. I think it would probably be like a
- 50:39Speaker 1: fourth at your absolute best, but it'd probably be like
- 50:41Speaker 1: a fifth. Tank Na just says Sonny Styles. Man, if
- 50:44Speaker 1: if the Bills could get Sonny Styles, I'd be so happy.
- 50:47Speaker 1: I'd be so happy. Rob says, I've been intrigued with
- 50:50Speaker 1: t J. Parker. I wasn't from a broadcast standpoint that
- 50:53Speaker 1: whole Clemson group tanked him Peter Woods, but I do
- 50:55Speaker 1: think there is talent there. Abyantrella is pretty sweet. Uh yeah,
- 50:59Speaker 1: I'll be getting into that Clumson defensive line as I
- 51:01Speaker 1: go forward to my evaluations and try to wrap everything
- 51:04Speaker 1: up by draft time. Curtis says, the safety of Morgan. Yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 1: Dylan Theeneman, I'm more inclined to him now given the
- 51:11Speaker 1: Bills signing offered at Nickel. I do think they're gonna
- 51:14Speaker 1: use some more big Nickel aspect at times. I don't
- 51:19Speaker 1: love theenem in right now, but I think he's a
- 51:21Speaker 1: fine player. Nathan says, I think we're trading down outside
- 51:36Speaker 1: of a home run player being there. I do think
- 51:38Speaker 1: trade down is a likely target. Trade back, get a third,
- 51:40Speaker 1: get a second, try to do something. Bill's fan seventy
- 51:45Speaker 1: eighty three says, you have the twenty eighth least draft
- 51:47Speaker 1: value in the NFL with a tunnel holes, trading back
- 51:49Speaker 1: from twenty six and recouping some draft capital is the
- 51:52Speaker 1: smart play. I don't necessarily disagree. Ah. This is a
- 51:59Speaker 1: good comment here from Bill Benz who says we need
- 52:01Speaker 1: a Robin night Wing, Red Hood and Azrael Ice Pull
- 52:05Speaker 1: rather than one Batman. I agree. I agree that, and
- 52:09Speaker 1: that's my issue, right, Like, you can get a Batman,
- 52:12Speaker 1: but you still you still need all this other stuff.
- 52:16Speaker 1: So yeah, I think that's really fair from bet Again,
- 52:17Speaker 1: that's also my philosophy too. Right, ironically, we're talking about
- 52:20Speaker 1: the Savers a little bit. You look like at the
- 52:23Speaker 1: five oh six Savers or the six oh seven Savers
- 52:25Speaker 1: right back to back Eastern Conference finals. Should have beat
- 52:28Speaker 1: Carolina and the five oh six season if their entire
- 52:31Speaker 1: defense didn't get the plague, and then they would have
- 52:32Speaker 1: beatn Edmonton for the Cup. But I digress. If you
- 52:35Speaker 1: look at those two Savers teams, oh five oh six
- 52:37Speaker 1: and six oh seven, neither of those teams had like
- 52:40Speaker 1: a stellar first line, right, but what they did have,
- 52:45Speaker 1: like their for their top three lines, they didn't have
- 52:47Speaker 1: a one to two and a three. They essentially had
- 52:49Speaker 1: three twos, and then their fourth line was like a
- 52:53Speaker 1: three and a half. It was a mix of a four,
- 52:55Speaker 1: but it really still had some third line capability to it. Like,
- 52:59Speaker 1: that's my type of lock to be with building any
- 53:00Speaker 1: type of team. Yes, I want top tier players and
- 53:03Speaker 1: I do think you need that, but if you are
- 53:07Speaker 1: in a spot where you're drafting at the back end
- 53:09Speaker 1: year after year, just get as many B plus guys
- 53:13Speaker 1: as you can. I think the issue with the Bills
- 53:14Speaker 1: is they've had too many B minuses and like C pluses. Granted,
- 53:20Speaker 1: they have more B minuses and C pluses, where teams
- 53:23Speaker 1: usually have like a C minus or a D plus
- 53:25Speaker 1: or a D which is good for the bills. But
- 53:29Speaker 1: they it's like, Okay, you've got one a couple B
- 53:33Speaker 1: pluses and then a thumbbes and a bunch of B
- 53:37Speaker 1: minuses and c pluses. I think they need to either
- 53:39Speaker 1: get multitude of B pluses or change and get a
- 53:44Speaker 1: couple more a's. I think really that the difference has
- 53:47Speaker 1: been the lack of top tier talent and or the
- 53:50Speaker 1: lack of second tier talent on top of it. But yeah,
- 53:55Speaker 1: I like this come here from Bill in this analogy,
- 53:58Speaker 1: we need a Robin Nightwing Redhood in Israel. Done. I
- 54:00Speaker 1: appreciate you, Oh Charles saying four to five the spine
- 54:03Speaker 1: Lee Hunter, Jacob Rodriguez, AJ Halsey fair for those who
- 54:06Speaker 1: don't know. Lee hundred defensive tackle from Texas Tech. Jacob Rodriguez,
- 54:09Speaker 1: linebacker from Texas Tech. AJ Halsey safety from LSU. Yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: where are we? Okay, uh okay, I'm gonna still keep
- 54:32Speaker 1: going into comments. That's when we're free agency discussion. I'm
- 54:35Speaker 1: gonna go in some of my notes at my thoughts
- 54:37Speaker 1: here let's start with de Alford, a new signing from
- 54:41Speaker 1: the Atlanta Falcons. His contract as of right now, reported
- 54:45Speaker 1: by spot Track from a breakdown standpoint three years, a
- 54:49Speaker 1: fifteen point seven five million dollar base value, seven point
- 54:53Speaker 1: eight seven five million guaranteed at signing two point two
- 54:57Speaker 1: million dollars more next March one point seventy five million
- 55:00Speaker 1: in annual incentives. In practicality, they deal is a two year,
- 55:05Speaker 1: eleven million dollar contract, so you're essentially getting in for
- 55:07Speaker 1: like five five and a half million dollars average annual value,
- 55:11Speaker 1: depending on if you're looking at it from a two
- 55:12Speaker 1: or a three year perspective. I think he's a fine nickel.
- 55:15Speaker 1: I figured who said it earlier. I think it was
- 55:16Speaker 1: Jason in the comments, maybe that he's necessary and fine.
- 55:19Speaker 1: I do think d offered is necessary and fine. He
- 55:24Speaker 1: can function in man coverage, he can function in match,
- 55:27Speaker 1: he can function in some spot drop zone, some true zone.
- 55:30Speaker 1: He's got the ability to match, carry and deliver. I
- 55:32Speaker 1: think he's got good coverage, spacing and awareness. He's got
- 55:35Speaker 1: very active eyes and a very active head to pick
- 55:37Speaker 1: up crossers, pass off guys, carry accordingly all that type
- 55:41Speaker 1: of stuff. Right, you'll watch him drop into his zone,
- 55:43Speaker 1: see that it's vacated. He gets his eyes across field.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Who can I pick up on a crosser or a
- 55:47Speaker 1: drag or something underneath. He's quicker than he is fast.
- 55:51Speaker 1: I think he has some good some short area quickness,
- 55:54Speaker 1: mainly due to foot speed. He's not a burst or
- 55:57Speaker 1: like notable twitch kind of guy. He's not some great
- 56:00Speaker 1: change of direction, elite mover, fluid athlete type of guy.
- 56:03Speaker 1: But he can close on guys uh in short area
- 56:07Speaker 1: and even you know who have some space on him
- 56:08Speaker 1: because he's got some you know, he's got some good
- 56:10Speaker 1: foot speed to him. He's a willing tackler. He looks
- 56:13Speaker 1: to pick the ankle, or he use his shoulder or
- 56:15Speaker 1: throw the shoulder. Really, he's got a fifteen point six
- 56:18Speaker 1: percent career miss tackle rate. A bit of a smaller
- 56:21Speaker 1: size and frame that will limit him at the tackling
- 56:24Speaker 1: catch points. I've seen some listings for him, but they're
- 56:26Speaker 1: pretty much the same. Five eleven, one seventy five, five eleven,
- 56:30Speaker 1: and he's changed of direction capable. Again, He's not stiff,
- 56:34Speaker 1: but he's not explosive. He's not some great athletes, some
- 56:36Speaker 1: great mover. His long speed is fine. There's a couple
- 56:40Speaker 1: of reps where you know, he's running down field with
- 56:42Speaker 1: Ted McMillan, who's not a burner, but then a rep
- 56:44Speaker 1: against the Rams where he's running down field with two
- 56:46Speaker 1: two at well, granted two two doesn't really sell anything,
- 56:48Speaker 1: and Alfer kind of knows he's going deep. But you know,
- 56:52Speaker 1: I as long as his eyes or his feet don't
- 56:54Speaker 1: mislead him, you know he can function a bit downfield.
- 56:59Speaker 1: I I saw some of the kind of the talk
- 57:02Speaker 1: about him, but he is he is a slot corner.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Based on his career snaps. He's got one thousand, seven
- 57:09Speaker 1: hundred and eleven career reps in the slot. He's only
- 57:13Speaker 1: got two hundred and thirty out wide. When he's been
- 57:15Speaker 1: used outside is wide corner, it's really been due to
- 57:17Speaker 1: like in case of emergency break lass, Like the Falcons
- 57:20Speaker 1: had some injuries at outside corner this past year and
- 57:22Speaker 1: didn't have a lot of depth there in general, so
- 57:23Speaker 1: Alford would kick outside every now and again. So it's
- 57:26Speaker 1: nice that you have a nickel who can also moonlight
- 57:29Speaker 1: a bit outside. I think he's more of a outside
- 57:32Speaker 1: CB four, maybe a low end CB three, but I
- 57:36Speaker 1: think he's a fine capable Nickel. I think this type
- 57:39Speaker 1: of move for Alford, who you know, he's not the
- 57:42Speaker 1: run defender Taron Johnson is, or at least Teraron Johnson was.
- 57:46Speaker 1: But I think this kind of signing, in this kind
- 57:48Speaker 1: of move indicates that Nickel is going to be more
- 57:52Speaker 1: of a true subpackage for the Buffalo Bills. You know,
- 57:54Speaker 1: I don't think they were ever going to be in
- 57:56Speaker 1: nickel as much as they were under Sean McDermott the
- 57:58Speaker 1: past couple of years, which again and McDermott started to tweak.
- 58:01Speaker 1: They started playing more dime, they started playing more bass,
- 58:03Speaker 1: but even with dime, you have six DB's on the field.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I think getting Alford, who again is more of a
- 58:11Speaker 1: true Nickel from a coverage standpoint, I think this speaks
- 58:14Speaker 1: to more base defense for the Bills, or you know,
- 58:18Speaker 1: maybe more three safety looks or something like that where
- 58:21Speaker 1: you're not gonna be a Nickel a Ton or you're
- 58:23Speaker 1: at least not gonna ask Alford as the Nickel to
- 58:25Speaker 1: have to have a lot of run defense capabilities like
- 58:28Speaker 1: they did with Aren Johnson. So I would see Nickel
- 58:30Speaker 1: as more of a sub package, true sub package again
- 58:33Speaker 1: for this Bills team, where it's coming in on known
- 58:36Speaker 1: passing down in distances or non passing situations and to
- 58:39Speaker 1: the first half, second and long, third and long things
- 58:42Speaker 1: like that, or third down in general, third and medium
- 58:45Speaker 1: depending on the situation, and all that type of stuff.
- 58:48Speaker 1: So I think the signing of Alford again necessary and fine.
- 58:52Speaker 1: You need a starting nickel. Jim Leonard is going to
- 58:56Speaker 1: play nickel. He is going to have five dbs on
- 58:58Speaker 1: the field, and I think Alfred is a fine nickel
- 59:02Speaker 1: from a coverage standpoint. He's not the run fitter that
- 59:06Speaker 1: Taron Johnson is. Even if you go back to watch
- 59:08Speaker 1: the you know, Bills versus Falcons, Bill's run duo right
- 59:11Speaker 1: at him and Tyrell Shaver's inserts and gets into him
- 59:14Speaker 1: and just drives him like four or five yards back immediately.
- 59:18Speaker 1: He's not the guy that you want playing the run
- 59:21Speaker 1: right there, Like, I don't want him in the box.
- 59:23Speaker 1: And sorry if you guys see me moving, I'm trying
- 59:25Speaker 1: to fix there we go. The focus is back in
- 59:27Speaker 1: the camera. He's not the guy that you want pulled
- 59:31Speaker 1: into the box and act acting as like a Sam
- 59:33Speaker 1: linebacker or acting as a you know, an off ball
- 59:36Speaker 1: guy like Taron Johnson did and Arreon Johnson was good
- 59:39Speaker 1: at that. Granted, his play dipped overall I think last
- 59:41Speaker 1: year or yeah, in twenty twenty five, so I don't
- 59:44Speaker 1: think he's the player coming forward that Taron Johnson was.
- 59:47Speaker 1: I think he's got a little more coverage versatility than Terarran,
- 59:50Speaker 1: especially from a downfield standpoint. Also maybe a bit I
- 59:52Speaker 1: think a bit more athletic as well than Taron Johnson.
- 59:55Speaker 1: But he's not the physical level of player. He's not
- 59:58Speaker 1: the box strength or plus player that Tarren was, especially
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: in his prime. But he's a fine nickel right necessary, Fine,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: you need somebody in that role. He appears to be
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: well liked by his teammates. Cool good for him. I
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: don't say that disparagingly, like legitimately cool good for him.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: He seems to be really geeked up and pumped to
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: be here. He's just starting nickel cool, go for it,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: do your thing. Gives you some outside fla say, if
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you're in a pinch, if something bad happens. I mentioned
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: it before Alfred sign and really, once I saw the
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Taron Johnson cut, I'm in favor of the Bills using
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: more of a safety as their nickel in sub package
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: looks so, you know, and if you're gonna go in nickel,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I like the idea of maybe having a third safety
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: on the field and your nickel is Cole Bishop, or
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: your nickel could have been Jalen Thompson, or it could
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: be Dylan Theneman because you're starting safeties, or Dylan Theenamon
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and Cold Bishop something like that. Right, I'm interested to
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: see how the Bills use that nickel spot or who
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: plays the nickel or who plays you know, kind of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: that that overhang or that extra defense. Is it is
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: it a nickel corner, is it a safety? Is it
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: a linebacker? Gonna be tough for linebacker now because of
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: what the market looks like and what I would it
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: would have gone a long way for that conversation if
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: they had gotten Kaid Nellis or Leo Chanal or some
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: kind of guys with very versatility and variability to their game.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: But we'll see now going for it. But yeah, I
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: think Alford is necessary and fine. They didn't break the
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: bank for him. I would have rather taken his money
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and given it to Roy Lopez. Uh, But that's a
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: conversation for another time. Jason, appreciate you being here as always, thinking.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: For the stuper chat, Jason says, are we getting Hendrickson
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: or what a bunch of questions marks? Apparently we'll find
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: out tomorrow. Apparently Trey Hendrickson is gonna make his case
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: known tomorrow. I don't know, and I'm still torn on
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: how much I wanted versus how much I don't if
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: they If they get them, I won't be upset. If
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: they don't, I won't be upset. It's all gonna come
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: down to the money. I just again don't like putting
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: all my eggs in a one basket really ever, but
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: especially when you have a lot of other baskets that
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: need to be filled, and the bills have a lot
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: of other baskets that need to be filled. But we'll
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: see what happens. Appreciate you, Charles in the chat, saying
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: no number on the Knox deal yet, but likely save
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: six to eight million on his on this year's cap. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: apologies because Ryan, Sorry Ryan. Ryan asked a question how
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: much was Dawson Knox's contract reduced? Do we get specific numbers?
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Thin get Charles for answering that in the chat. I
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: appreciate you very very very much, but yeah, so all
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: for fine signing. If you want to see what's up
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: with him, you can find him on my Blue Sky
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and on my Twitter account. Just go to my page.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I retweeted I put it out last night at like
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: eightish or something like that, and then retweeted it this
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: morning to get it closer to the top of my page.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: So find me on Twitter, pro underscore, underscore ANT. Find
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: me on Blue Sky at pro ant No underscores there,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: just pr O, A and T. You can see like
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: about a over two minute breakdown of you know, what
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: he does in coverage and why it fits and some
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: things like that. So again, contract isn't crazy necessary and fine?
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: As somebody said in shad earlier, again, I believe it
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: was Jason, kudos to you. If it wasn't you, Jason,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: forgive me whoever I stole credit from. But yeah, fine,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Uh Connor McGovern, I want to see this hold on
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: real quick. Oh MD says A fun conspiracy theory is
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that Baltimore back channel to deal with Hendrickson and backed
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: out of the Crosby deal. Oh, I'm a drama drama.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Drama, drama, drama, drama, drama, drama, drama, drama, drama.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, James's our years have been avoided. Jason says, I
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: think will be much less than what we think. I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: believe he Hendrickson got a rude awakening in free agency
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: coming off the knee injury. He did okay four and
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: a half sacks last year, but I think teams are
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: very wary there. I'll take a I'll take a cheap
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Also in free agency, kind of in free agency, but
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: not really. I'm talking about the main ones here. Connor
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: McGovern came back to the Bills four year, fifty two
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: million dollar deal that includes thirty two million guaranteed. Obviously,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that looked a lot better after Tyler Linderbaum signed what
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: was like a three year, eighty million dollar contract was
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: absolutely crazy. Granted that the Raiders had money to burn, right,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: so they unfortunately maybe set the market into a tail
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: spin and kind of screwed the market maybe a little bit.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: But Raiders overpaid because they can, because they don't care,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: because they have a ton of money. And Linderbaum's a
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: great scheme fit for Kobi X offense and makes a
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: ton of sense to kind of set for Nana Mendoza
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: up for success when they draft the first overall in
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: the draft, but Linderbaum's contract made McGovern's look even better
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: at four years, fifty two million, thirty two million guaranteed.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: As of right now, I forget that fifty two million.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I'm saying this like I can't just go look it
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: up right now. If you're looking at that fifty two
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: million dollars, it would it makes him one two three
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: four the fifth highest paid center in terms of total value,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: and if you're looking at the average annual value per year,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: he is third, I'm sorry, fourth behind Cam Jurgens, Creed Humphrey,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: and Tyler Linderbaum. And if you're looking at the total
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: money guaranteed, he is one two three fifth again behind
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Eric McCoy for the Saints, Cam Jurgens, Creed Humphrey, and
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Tyler Linderbaum. So got a contract that pretty much locks
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: him into the top five for centers. Good for him,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: works in Buffalo, knows the team likes it here apparently.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: You know, I saw some of the stuff from his
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: presser today that he said he could have had some
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: money elsewhere, but you know, thirteen million a year is
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: still really good money, and he wanted to stay here
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: and come back here so good for him, cool, we
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: know what he is, good for him. I was hoping
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: to get either him or Edwards. I would have taken
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: I one. I don't know who I preferred more. I
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: just wanted one of them. I think I preferred McGovern
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: just because I would rather put Alec Anderson at left
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: guard than put Alec Anderson at center. That's what I'm
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: thinking they go with right now. I think it's gonna
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: be Deon Dawkins to Alec Anderson to Connor McGovern to
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: o Cyrus Torrance to Spencer Brown. I am worried about
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Dean Dawkins this year because I think David Edwards did
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: a lot to kind of bully him and support him
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: and help him at left tackle, just from how smart
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: he is Edwards, I mean, how smart he is, how
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: good he is at iding the fronts and kind of
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: setting things and communicating. So we'll see if you know,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Alec Anderson or whoever starts at left guard for the Bills,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: although I think it'll be Anderson. We'll see how well
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: they can fill Edwards's shoes in a vacuum, but also
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: what type of impact it has on Dean Dawkins as well.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: DJ Moore again talked about it last week, but I'm
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: gonna add it in here just because it technically counts
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: in this window again reporting for all the contract stuff,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: nothing is officials of yet, but the essentially the Bills
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: got DJ Moore on a four year, ninety eight million
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: dollar contract, then it's basically like twenty four and a
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: half million twenty twenty six, twenty twenty seven, twenty twenty eight,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: twenty twenty nine, fifteen and a half million of his
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven salary becomes fully guaranteed on March thirteenth
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: of this year. Buffalo can process a full salary conversion
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: on DJ Moore upon acquiring him per spot Track, which
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: would lower his cap hit to about six point seventy
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: five million this year and create about seventeen point seven
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: million dollars a cap space. With all these restructures that
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: they can do and kind of how they can process
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: the salary conversion, I should say essentially it'll become like
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: roughly like a three year, sixty three million dollar deal
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: for DJ more And if you kind of want to
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: play the game a little bit of what the cap
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: hits would look like, it'd be six point seventy five
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: million this year, but then twenty twenty seven through twenty
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: twenty nine could be like twenty eight point nine million
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: each of those seasons. So we'll see what ends up
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: happening there with DJ more and again trade was a
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: second round pick from the Bills, which is picked sixty
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: for DJ Moore and a fifth round pick from the Bears.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Not going to get into it too much against I
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: broke it down with Nate Tice last week when the
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: news drop, But I think DJ Moore is now the
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: best receiver on the Bills. I think it's an upgrade.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: I think his skill set helps stretch the field vertically
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: and horizontally for this Bill's offense. I like the athleticism,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: the juice, and the speed that he brings. I don't
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: like the lack of route running, precision and stem work
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: that he has. I like my receivers to have a
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: little more technicality, guys who can separate with technique and
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: deception and good stemwork and release packages as opposed to
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: just pure power, burst, explosion and speed. Because at some
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: point you're not going to be the better athlete, and
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: it's hard to just always be the better athlete and
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: win that battle that way, and from an age standpoint,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: winning with more of the physical traits like that, you know,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: those tend to dissipate a little bit more as you
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: get older, you know, once you start to not be
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: able to throw ninety eight miles an hour anymore with
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: your fastball. Do you have a slider you could throw?
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Do you have a change up? Can you work in
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: different pitches? Can you paint the corners a little bit?
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Stuff like that? I think there are some questions with
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: that for DJ Moore and the little you know, looming
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: thing of you know, did he quit on the Bears
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four la He kind of did, like
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: on them as a team, but also like the plays
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: in certain games. So for all of that, again I
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, if we're kind of keeping apples to apples.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: From a total deal standpoint, I think DJ Moore is
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: the better player than Romeo Dobbs, right, and I would
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: take him, you know, over Dobbs. But from a cost
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: standpoint and an opportunity cost standpoint, I would have taken
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Romeo Dobbs and what he costs versus what Dj Moore
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: and he costs. But yeah, I think he fits with
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: this offense, you know, all jokes aside. You can give
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: him some bubble screens, give him some stuff around the
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: line of scrimmagine. You can make some things happen with
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: the ball in his hands, and then he's gonna be
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: able to stretch the field vertically. You can push the
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: ball down field to him. He's actually, you know, pretty
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: good at the catch point making some off frame catches.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: He can go up get the football a little bit.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: You can also stretch the field horizontally as well on
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: some crossers, drags, stuff like that. He's just not gonna
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: route anybody up. He's not gonna win with precision and technicality.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: You're not gonna see some great stem work where he
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: turns a corner inside out. It's more of him just
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: using his athleticism, burst and speed to beat guys in
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: that way, which again his work for him thus far.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: We'll see if it continues to work for him. He
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: is an upgrade at the wide receiver for the Bills.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: He makes them better. He is their best wide receiver.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: But I think the deal in totality is what gets
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: me how much you have to pay him and giving
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: up the second round pick to do so. Not that
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: the second round pick is guaranteed. And yes, before anybody
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: you know gets at me, no draft pick is a guarantee.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: And I would rather have DJ more than a second
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: round wide receiver. Okay, I want to put that out
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: there for anyone yells at me. Jason says, I think
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Dawkins will be okay. He acknowledged that he needs to
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: come in slimmer to be the best version of himself.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: I heard him mention something like he's already got something
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: planning to like be the slimmest he's ever been or
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: the leanist he's ever been. So yeah, we'll see. They
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: need him to. They need him and Spencer Brown to
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: be very effective and just be able to bookend everything
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: and go from there. M hmm, what eh, all right,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: some of the pieces. Again, I talked about it earlier.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I am legitimately disappointing the Bills not being able to
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: get Kayden Nellis or Leoshanal. I said it before. I
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: thought like they needed guys in that mold from a
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: body type and skill set, role and play style standpoint.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: But more importantly, I thought they needed one of those guys,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: those specific guys, and I really thought they were going
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: to get Shanal. It just made too much sense. You know,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: his ties to Jim Leonard, how good he was under Leonard,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: his skill set, how good of a fit he'd be
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: in this defense. Because he was a good fit in
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: this defense at Wisconsin, Leonard, I would assume wanted him
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: because of his familiar with him and how good Chanal
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: was for him in college. At Wisconsin. Schanal goes to
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: the commanders on a three year, twenty four point seventy
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: five million dollar deal, right in line with I thought
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: he would get somewhere around six to eight million a year,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: but actually I'm lying. I thought he would get somewhere
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: between seven and nine million per year, and he came
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: in pretty good in the middle of that, almost exactly
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: a little more than eight million per year average annual value. Again,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: we don't know if the Bills even offered him. Maybe
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: they did and he chose the commanders. Maybe they offered
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: him less and he chose the commanders. Maybe they offered
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: him more and he chose the commanders. We have no
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: idea if they tried or not. But at the end
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: of the day, they did not get le Oshanal, just
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: like they did not get Kayden Nellis who got he
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: got paid pretty well three years thirty three million dollar contract.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Kaden Ellis's previous deal was a three year, twenty one
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: point five million dollar deal. So essentially Chanal kind of
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: got a little more than Kaiden Nellis's previous contract, and
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Kate Nell's got a decent upgrade, going from three years
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: twenty one and a half million to now three years
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: thirty three million dollars. I can understand that being maybe
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: a little rich for the bills with him just where
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: they are. I would have paid kid Nellis that, but
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: again to each their own. Kobe Bryant safety from the
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Seahawks went to the Bears three years, forty million dollars.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: That was towards the low end of what I thought
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: he was going to get, essentially like thirteen million a year.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: There were some reports and projections that were going to
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: push him between like fifteen to twenty, so I was
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: hoping for him to get between twelve and fifteen. He
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: got a little over thirteen. That was my projection and
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: hope for him. It's what he got. We'll see how
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: it actually shakes out, but I would have done that deal.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Brian Cook, safety from the Chiefs went to the Bengals
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: three years, also forty million dollars. I think a little
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: more like forty point twenty five or forty point seventy five.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: But we got confirmation that he's going to get eighteen
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: million in year one, which I don't think the Bills
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: were going to do were come anywhere close to. So
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: that could have been a huge deciding factor for him
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: to go to the Bengals. In addition to he played
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: college ball for the Cincinnati Bearcats, so maybe he just
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: wanted to go back to Cincinnati. Jalen Thompson, cardinal safety,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: went to the Cowboys three years, thirty three million. The
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: deal was up to thirty six million dollars. That's the
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: one that really gets me. Like, you get Jalen Thompson
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: for three years and like eleven to twelve million dollars
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: average annual value per you can break that up really nice.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I just thought he would added so much to this defense.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: That was one that really got me. I really really
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: really wanted Jalen Thompson. But yeah, gone as well. David
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Anyamata a little more expensive than I was hoping. He
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: got a one year, ten and a half million dollar
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: deal to go to the Jets. He was coming off
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: of a three year, thirty five million dollar deal, so
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: he came off of a deal where you know, he
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: was getting just under twelve million dollars per year, and
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: even at age thirty three, he got a one year,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: ten and a half million dollar deal. Dude, is so good,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: got paid like it. I was hoping he would be
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: a little more affordable and be it around like eight
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: to nine million dollars average annual value, but he ended
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: up coming into ten and a half that one again,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: I understand not paying that a little bit as well,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: just because of the age and having to address that
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: spot again next year potentially if Anamana go somewhere else,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: but someone who I really liked. And then Kyri's Tonga
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: defensive tackle from the Patriots, also the Cardinals from the
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: past couple of years or two, A couple of years ago, two,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. Two years ago with Roy Lopez,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Tonga signed a three year, twenty four million dollar deal
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: with the Chiefs fourteen million dollars guaranteed. More expensive than
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Roy Lopez, but he offers you a little more juice
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: and pass rush pops, so I get it. I would
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: have done that deal for Tonga. The Roy Lopez one
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: is the one that really gets me. Cardinals got him.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: He went back to Arizona two year, eleven and a
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: half million dollar deal with seven point five or sorry,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: seven million guaranteed. I would have taken Roy Lopez at
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: that contract over de Alford every single day of the week.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: No disrespect to Alfred. I just think Roy Lopez is
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: better at his job than d Alfred is at his
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: and I think a true nose tackle is more important
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: to this defense at this stage and being able to
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: guarantee that and lock that up before you get to
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the draft where there is a lot of you know,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: nickel safety hybrids, dbs, big nickels, true nickels in this
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: draft where you can kind of cobble some things together
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: and be fine. The Roy Lopez want again is the
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: one that got me the most of it, because you
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: could have given Alfreds contract to Roy Lopez or signed
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: them both. Really, but again, as I stated earlier, maybe
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Roy Lopez didn't want to come here, Maybe he wanted
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: to go back to Arizona the whole time. Maybe the
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Bills offered him the same contract he chose Arizona. They
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: offered him less. He chose Arizona. Maybe they offered him more,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: maybe they offered him three years thirty million, and he
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: was like, nope, I just want to go back to Arizona.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: So we don't know. Yeah, those are a lot of
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: the movies you know that I wish they made. I
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: wish they had done that they did not do. And
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: I think a lot of kind of file into that category.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of other guys on the
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: table for folks, you know, guys that they wanted, targeted likes, dislikes,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: favorites in a variety of ways. Those were mine and particular,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: like the guys who I really wanted and I thought
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: would one be a scheme fit and tick the box
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: for need, but two who I also thought would be
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: affordable and kind of pat myself on the back a
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: little bit, I nailed essentially all of their contract projections,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: which annoys me a little more because that puts them
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: even more into the affordability bucket for the bills. But
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: they didn't get them. But such as like John Roberts says,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: DJ Reader, any good for a nose tackle? Yeah, he
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: is in that next tier. Guys like I really wanted.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I really wanted Roy Lopez. I would have taken Tonga
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: next after that. But now if we're going like after
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: that now comes down to like, Okay, DJ Reader Andrew Billings,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: a bunch of guys like that that are just kind
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: of your straight role players where there's not much to
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: them aside from that. That's kind of what I'm looking
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: at at this point, or maybe even going into the draft,
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: like Curtis says, So, what's the name of the nose
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: from Texas Tech? Can we trade down and get him? Yeah,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Lee Hunter from Texas Tech or Dominique Orians defensive tackle
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: from Iowa State, or maybe they get Cad McDonald defensive
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: tackle from Ohio State at the end of the first
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: round or something like that. But yeah, I'll take DJ Reader.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: They just need reinforcements at this point, right. That's kind
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: of where I am with safety and defensive tackle and linebacker.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: All the guys that I wanted that I was excited for,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: and not to be like a a Doomer or anything
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: like that or a Gloomer, but all the guys who
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I truly wanted for the Bills this offseason then that
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I thought would really maximize this defense. They didn't get
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: any of them, and the market is also thin at
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: those spots now, So now it's just a point where
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: you got to make some moves to just get some
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: reinforcements at some point. So give me Kevin bayer It
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: at safety, Give me DJ Reader at defensive tackle, Give
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: me Jermaine Pratt at linebacker, or Shaq Thompson at linebacker.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Edges I don't even want to look at because that's
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: scary and worrisome and just unfortunate or even like kind
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: of like the odd front defensive end guys, the four
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: eyes and the state, you know, the the fours. It's
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: just tough. It's really gonna have to They're really gonna
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: have to hit this draft if they want this twenty
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: twenty six defense to be good. Is kind of where
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I'm at right now, or to be able to really
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: maximize what Jim Leonard wants to do. And there's a
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: situation right now again, they're not gonna how the defense
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: is right now is now what it's gonna be going for.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: They're gonna sign some guys. It's just a matter of
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: how good or how exciting they are, and they're gonna
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: look to draft some guys again. But I think Jim
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Leonard again, I have a ton of faith in him
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: schematically and structurally. I think the ceiling of this defense
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: right now is significantly capped because they don't have the
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: right body types to maximize Leonard's defense. But I do
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: think he is going to do a good job getting
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: this defense up to snuff from a scheme and structure standpoint,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: and we'll see how everything else goes forward. As of
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: right now, I'm a bit underwhelmed with this bill start
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: to free agency. That's like I've been pretty very underwhelmed.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I will say for the entirety of this offseason, I
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: love Jim Leonard. I love that signing. I'm excited to
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: see what the defense looks like is commatically under him.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I think Dj Moore is now the best wide receiver
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: on the Bills. So again in a vacuum, Cool, you
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: added yourself a receiver that helps your team. I like
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Conor McGovern. Good to have him back stabilize the offense. Cool,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: that's a win, d Alford, fine player, didn't break the bank.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Could you have done something else with that money? Sure?
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: But right now I'm just a bit underwhelmed overall with
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: this offseason. If not for Jim Leonard signing and coming
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: here as the defensive coordinator, I would be a lot
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: more down on this team, especially on the defensive side. Again,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: I just don't have a lot of faith in Brandon
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Bean at this point. I think he's been largely fine.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: But.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of faith in him just
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: because a lot of the moves that I found questionable
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: over the years from an acquisition standpoint, were tied to
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: either him or him and McDermott, And so I don't
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: have a ton of faith in being Brady. I think
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: the jury is out as a head coach, but he
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: doesn't really have I don't think he has too much
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: power in this situation, and I'm still kind of wary
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: of him at this point. I didn't like him as
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: being the head coaching higher. I found him underwhelming. I
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: had schematic and structural issues with his offense last year
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and even the year before. But you know, we'll see,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Jason says, Aunt, what do you need? What do you
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: need to make you feel more at ease on defense?
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: A complimentary safety to pair with Cole Bishop, Somebody with
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: range and ball hawking ability who can play in the post,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: but who can also play in two high structures, has
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: some versatility to their game. Again, it would it would
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: have been like Kobe Bryant or Jalen Thompson and then
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: third to Brian Cook. I'll be I'll be decently happy
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: if they can get Kevin byered, but the start of
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: the back end goal there. Linebacker. Linebacker's tough for me
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: now in general because there's nobody left on the market
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: really that has the skill set that they need at
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: linebacker opposite of Terrelle Bernard who can also give you
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: the versatile versatility and the hybrid ied stuff that Channel
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: brought or Kaden Ellis brought, or even to a lower
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: degree like Eric Wilson, the linebacker from Minnesota brought things
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: like that. So that's tough. And then edge is rough
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: now as well, like are you gonna trade for Crosby
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: or are you gonna try and sign Hendrickson? Like even there
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: there's still kind of questions on both. Although Max Crosby
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: would be sick, but you need to add at edge.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I would really, really really like them to get Jacob
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Martin the edge from the Washington Commanders last year. I
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: think he'll be cheap and a solid edge three, edge
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: four type of guy to go with Groot Hoyt, and
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: hopefully you know a B B plus kind of guy
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: in addition to that, so you can round out have
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: a nice top four. Maybe Jamon Solomon blows up. Who knows? Yeah,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I Uh, what I need to make me feel more
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: at ease on defense I think is very unlikely now.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: And again I'm not saying this is like a doomer
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: or gloomer and like everything screwed. But to answer this
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: question like fully, like what do I need to make
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: me feel more at ease on defense? I mentioned some
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: of the pieces individually, but what I really need is
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: not possible now. At this point. The safeties that I
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: wanted are gone, the linebackers I wanted are gone, The
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: interior defenders and edge defenders that I wanted. A defensive
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: linemen are largely gone. I mean, if if they come
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: out tomorrow and they signed Sebastian, Joseph Day and Jacob Martin,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: I will feel significantly better, but holistically I will not
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: feel at ease, and then we'll see what happens from
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: draft time. Again, I'm not in love with anybody in
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: the draft yet because I haven't finished my evaluations. But
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: we'll see, we'll see, we'll see, We'll see. Bum bum.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Dan says, would you trade for Crosby now with the
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Ravens backed out failing? His physical is concerning, but maybe
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: we can capitalize and get him for less. Yes, I
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: would trade for Max Crosby. Yes, it depends on what
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: it costs. I don't want to give up to first
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: because I don't think the Bills are in the financial
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: or draft position to make that trade. I just think
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: they need a lot of help in other areas, and
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: they don't have a lot of S tier guys right now.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: We're A tier guys. And if you don't have a
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: lot of S tier A tier guys, and you also
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: have questions with like your depth and you're like your
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: tier two guys, it's tough to make that kind of swing.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: But if they traded for Max Crosby, I can get
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: past it because I love Max Crosby as a player.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: He's absolutely sick. He's a monster, and I would have
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: no problem getting Max Crosby. John Roberts's defensive end howl
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: in the draft. Yeah, cash is howl from Texas A
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: and M. I have only watched him in Spurts is
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: watching other guys. I like what I see shorter arms,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: which is interesting, defensive archetype changing now with the Bill's defense,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: a lot of juice, a lot of bend. I'm excited
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: to get to his tape once I get to it.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Bill's fan seventy eight eighty three says, I would rather
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: have Vaughn in a draft pick than Crosby. I would
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: absolutely not. I think Vaughn. I think Vaughn's numbers are
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: super inflated and bloated from last year after I watched
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: him in conjunction with Jacob Martin and then a draft
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: pick again, you don't know what you're gonna get, Like,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: you could make the draft pick and he could end
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: up not being an effective NFL player at all. You
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: don't it's just too much of a crapshoot. I would
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: take Max Crosby, who is one of the best defensive player, like,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: if that's just the option, if it's Vonn in a
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: draft pick versus Crosby, even with the cost, I would
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: take Crosby. He's one of the best defensive players in
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: all the football. He's one of the best football players
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: in all the football. I don't think Vaughn is as
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: effective as even his numbers were. You know, I want
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: to say mediocre but kind of pedestrian last year, even
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: though they look decent to some. But I don't think
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: his numbers last year on tape. I don't think the
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: tape backs up what the numbers say, and that coupled
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: with an unknown quantity, no matter who the draft pick
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: is is still an unknown. If they could be Vaughn
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: and Rubin Bain, and I love Ruben bin, but Ruben
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Bain is not a guarantee, so I would take I
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: would take Crosby over von Miller a draft pick, but
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: teach their own. Spencer says, I hope Leonard isn't like
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Fangio meeting. It takes three years to make the scheme work.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: I don't think it'll be like that. He never had
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: the most talent or the top tier talent in Wisconsin,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: and he'd made his defense's work year after year after
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: year and be some of the best defenses in college football.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: So I have a lot of faith in Jim Leonards question,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: here are there safeties or nose tackles in the draft
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: that you would like for the Bills? Oh again, I'm
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: not finished with either position group right now. Safety, I
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: am intrigued by Emmanuel McNeil Warren from Toledo. I don't
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: love Dylan Dylan Theeneman, but I'm someone intrigued by him.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I am out on Genesis Smith the Safety from Arizona,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: because I think he's allergic to tackling and physicality, unless
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: there's maybe some something behind the scenes that I don't know.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Great fluidity, great coverage, Safety ticks everything you want from
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: a complimentary guy. In coverage with Cold Bishop, his tackling
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: is really bad from like a technique, not even just
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: from a technique standpoint, from like a want tou standpoint.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: As Nicholas says in the comments as the Key Whekly,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: I have not watched The Key Wheatly yet. I have
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: not watched Ramsey from USC. I've watched Bud Clark a
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: little bit from TCU. I like Bud Clark in what
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I've seen. I'm only a game and a half through
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: for him, but I like Bud Clark. I am hopeful
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: it's safety, and so That's where I'm at right now.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Nose Tackles. I like Lee Hunter from Texas Tech. I
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: like Dominique Orange from Ohio state. I'm sorry, Iowa State.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I like Kate McDonald from Ohio State. I had the
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: one to get his name all the time. The other
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: dude from Oklahoma, oh, the Defense Deck of Oklahoma, I
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: forget his name. He's not more of a nose, but
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: I like him as well. I watched him in passing
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: as I was watching other guys. But that's where I'm
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: at right now for NOS and safety. I'm not done
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: with either group, so that will come further. Good question,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: and I appreciate you asking arjie. Are you trolling? Arji says,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Shanla's gone. Yeah, he's gone. He went to the commanders.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: We talked about this about the entire episode. Are you
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: trying to troll me right now? R j that's mean,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: you're mean. I don't know what I maybe you genuinely
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: didn't know, but yeah, he's gone. He went to commanders.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Three years, twenty four, zero point seventy five million dollars.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: Good times. I like these hypotheticals that you guys are
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: sending me in the chat. I like this question from
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: uh hyri hiachu. What if the bills do this sign
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Hendrickson sign reader start Williams and drafted your favorite safety.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: How would you feel and obviously signed cheaper death death
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: not death. I'd feel fine. I wouldn't love it. I'm
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: okay with Reader, I don't love him. I'm okay with
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Dorian Williams. I don't love him. Hendrickson if he stays healthy,
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I think could be sweet if they drafted my favorite safety,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: if I have one, once I get there, sure i'd
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: feel better. I'd feel better. I wouldn't be as happy
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: as I could be, but i'd feel better. All right, Jay, Sorry,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I had a work call and totally missed out. Why
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: are you taking work calls? Have some priorities? M hm.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Another follow comment here a question You said you don't
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: believe they can reach their ceiling under Jim Leonard At
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: this point, I believe that for the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: I want to say that if they hit on a
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: safety nose tackling linebacker, how close can they be they
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: That would help a lot. That would help a lot.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: My issue is I think they need those guys plug
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: us other things. But if they were to hit on
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: the right body type and skill set at linebacker knows
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: and safety, that would go a significantly one long way. Again,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: if let's put let's let's put it like this from
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: a perfect perspective, right, like a ten out of ten
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: for them being able to hit their ceiling this year,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: for me would have been if they got Roy Lopez,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Sebastian Joseph Day, Boye Mafe or even like Jacob Martin.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I'll take it this point because again I'm not trying
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: to be complete pieh in the sky, uh Leo Shanel
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: or Kaden Ellis and then Kobe Bryant or Jalen Thompson.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: That to me would have been a ten out of ten.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: But getting the right safety, nose and linebacker could put
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: me at like a six, especially if it's like someone
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: on a good deal or it's a good young like
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: if it's a draft acquisition that gives you the player
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: plus the good term and cost and cost control, which
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: means next off season you can go and attack the
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: other stuff. Good question. I like that Nicholas saying Genesis
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Smith did have a fractured foot. To be fair, tackling
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: is rough, though you're just hoping you can coach him
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: up to be at least decent decent tackle in open space. Fair,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: but the issues that I have with him in tackling.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Granted I'm not out there playing with a fractured foot,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: but his issues in tackling for me very much look
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: like a lack of urgency and or want to than
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: it does like all that guy's banged up. Granted, I'm
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: not out there playing on a fractured foot against D
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: one level talent like he was, so I'm not trying
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: to pass judgment. And I've never had a foot injury.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: I've had knee injuries, shoulder injuries, achilles stuff, back stuff,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: but I've never had a foot injury of any significance
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: like a break. I've had like really like busted up
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: toes from getting stepped on and twisting stuff, but I
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: remember had like a fractured foot. So I'm not gonna
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: sit there and say I know what it's like to
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: play in a fractured foot or let alone play at
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: that level in college ball like that. But yeah, I
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: just his his tackling scares me significantly, Like like Kalm
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Bullock at USC also scared me, And I know he's
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: been better in the NFL, but a lot of it
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: for Bullock was just like poor tackling. It wasn't like
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: he didn't want to tackle. Genesis Smith has poor tackling,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: and it also looks like he doesn't want to tackle,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: and that's what scares me. It looks like he's just
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: not trying to hit anybody, and I don't like that.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: And I don't think that survives or plays in the NFL.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: But again, could be the foot, could be something else.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Fairpoint. John Roberts says, how do you feel about Dre
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: green Law? I would take him at this point. Again,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: not my top guy, but i'd take him. Doyle says,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: why haven't you mentioned Nick cross Is he's not available,
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: he would be a good fit in Jim Leonards. I
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: don't think he's a good pairing with Cold Bishop. He's
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: very much a down safety or a box safety I
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: think you need. I think Bishop should be more of
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: your down safety or your box safety, and you get
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: more of a single high post safety range ballhawk based
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: safety to pair with him. Again, if you're using the Bears,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: for example, right Kevin Bayer Jaquan Brisker, you need a
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Kevin bayerd Cold Bishop is the Jaquan Brisker. So I
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: don't want I would take Jaquon Brisker, but I don't
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: think he's ideal. I'd taken Across, but I don't think
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: he's ideal, and crosses even more of a box guy.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Crosses like in the box down safety, blitzing off the edge.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: I think it's too much. Same saying for Bishop. Even
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: though Bishop has improved deep right in as a single
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: high post safety and as even as like a two
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: high safety, he's improved the further he's gone from line
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: of scrimmage, I still think he's at his best in
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: and around the line of scrimmage significantly, So I want
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: to leave him there. I don't want to make him
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: play deeper more than he has to, and you would
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: have to do that with Nick Cross. Like if you
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: brought a Nick Cross. Bishop has to be the post safety.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Bishop has to be the deep guy because he's better
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: at that than Cross, even though he's still not great
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: at it, because both of their skill sets overlap and
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: mirror each other more than they compliment each other, if
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: that makes sense. The easies way to put it be
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: like if I have a lights out speed receiver, you
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: could get another lights out speed receiver, but maybe it's
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: a little better to have some guy who has some speed.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: But it's a better route runner, maybe has some size,
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: like have that complimentary aspect, especially when you're trying to
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: disguise coverage and what you're trying to do. Oh, this
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: is a good question from fanatic.
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: Two.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: What do you guys prefer Max Crosby for a first
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: rounder and a second? Do you mean Grenard? If I
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: could get Jonathan Garnard for what I think it would
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: cost Jonathan Gernard. Oh, yeah, you said, or Gernard but
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: slightly cheaper, it would be Grenard. I tell you, like
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: what I would have rather done. I would have rather
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: done a second because Jonathan Garnard's contract very similar to
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: DJ Moore's. Actually, I would have rather done a second
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: for Jonathan Grenard than I did the second for DJ Moore.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: I would have done that in a heartbeat. Oh Nathan, Yeah,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: I mentioned in Gold from Cincinnati. I haven't gone through
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: linebackers enough yet, but it is a very good class
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: from what I hear. I'm not done there yet, but yeah,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: I like this question from fanatic. Yeah, I would have
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: taken I would do Max Crosby for a first and
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: a second. I would rather do Grenard for cheaper because
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I think Grenard is sick and is cheaper. Yeah, Doyle saying, yeah,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: I agree with you. I definitely you know the comments is,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: I definitely think Bishop has more range and has improved
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: drastically from last year. Absolutely, he's still at his best,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: though as more of a big nickel apax monster man
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: in and around the line of scrimmage, kind of like
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: what he did against Kansas City. Right those plays that
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: he's making on third and fourth down where he's in
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: and around the line of scrimmage in the box. I
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: want more of that from him. Can he play deep, sure,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: but I want him to be in the box more
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: as the down safety. If you get Nick Cross, Bishop's
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: got to play deeper more regularly because Cross has to
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: be the guy in the box because he's more limited
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: the further he gets from the line of scrimmage, more
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: so than Bishop is. Even though Bishop is in a
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: stud the further he gets from the line of scrimmage,
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: he's better than Cross. So it's it's too much overlap
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: for me. Wouldn't hate it, but it's too much overlap
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: for me. Oh good question here. Speaking of safety, how
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: about that Jaylen Kilgore from South Carolina. I like him
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: a lot. I think it's more of a big nickel
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: than a true safety though, But I wanted to answer
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: that because I like that. Where is this comment from
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Kel nothing to do with free agency of the draft?
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: What does your NFL source USA Flag football team look like? Oof?
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Tell me how many it is? For like, I don't know,
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: it's a five on five? Is a seven on seven?
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: And then I'm gonna answer the question. I like this
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: question a lot. This is really fun. And also let
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: me know or we're talking current NFL players, right, It's
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: not like all time NFL players list that would be exciting.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: I confirmed, yeah, confirm for me how much? What the
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: starting lineup is? Five on five, six on six, seven
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: on seven? And then I'm assuming okay, seven on seven
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: like you said, and the current NFL players correct, I'm
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: assuming that's what you mean, current players? Okay? Offensively, quarterback
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: can can quarterbacks run? I need to know that if quarterbacks,
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: if quarterbacks can run, I want Lamar Jackson. If quarterbacks
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: can't run, don't yell at me. I'm gonna take Joe
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Burrow receiver man seven on seven. Give me so everybody else,
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: give me justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase. This is really hard.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: Bjeon Robinson Dan what is that for? Okay? Okay, okay,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: you have to have one offensive lineman to snap the ball,
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: one running back, one quarterback. Okay, so here's where we go. Okay,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: good Cod, I appreciate you here. Okay. One offensive lineman
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: to snap the ball. Give me, uh give me Tyler
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: Leonard Baul just to snap it. Get some athleticism. One
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: running back, give me Bijon. One quarterback. If the quarterback
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: can run pass the line of scrimmage and not just scramble,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: give me Lamar if he has to stay in the pocket,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: give me Burrow. One tight end. Give me Trey McBride.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: If we're wearing pads, it's Tucker craft like. One tight end.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: Give me Trey McBride. Three wide receivers. Give me Jefferson,
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: Chase and oh Man. Mm hmmm, Jefferson, Chase and Ceedee Lamb.
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: That's what I'm going on offense. Defensively, Oh JSN is
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: a good choice from Nick good choice. Ain't Brown? No,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: I like him. He's a really good blocker. But if
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I'm going pure passing aspect, which is essentially what flag is, yeah,
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: give me give me Jefferson Chase and CD. Good question.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: And then defensively or defensively is tough. I don't know
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: what the lineup is defensively, but I'm taking Pats er
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Tan and I'm taking Derek Stingley and I'll figure everything
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: else out. That's good too. Oh, good question. I appreciate you,
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: cal good question, good question, good question. That was fun.
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: You know what else is fun? The best pizza in Buffalo,
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: New York. That is one pie pizza. If you live
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: in Buffalo, if you travel to Buffalo and you haven't
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: gotten one pie pizza, you are significantly and sincerely missing out.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: I don't say that they're the best pizza in Buffalo
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: because they sponsor the show. They sponsor the show because
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I think they are the best pizza in Buffalo. Homemade
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: sweet sauce, pie cup and chart pepperoni, a bunch of
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: different toppings. You can get creative and create your own
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: type of pie. They have a bunch of custom stuff,
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: they have standard stuff. It all hits, it's all great.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: They make their own homemade blue cheese, which is just
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: as good. It's not better than the pizza. And that's
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: not a knock on the pizza. That's just how good
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: the blue cheeses. They make good salads, they have some
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: cool dessert options. They have a catering division called Elevated Catering,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: a buffalo where you can still get the pizza for events,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: but they also have great mac and cheese dishes, chicken
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: and rice dishes, salads, again, everything. It's awesome and they
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: do a lot of good for the community. I talk
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: about it all the time. They're really good people making
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: really good food. They partner with, you know, with Toys
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: for Tots come holiday season, the Alzheimer's Foundation, the SPCA,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: they partner with Roswell to try and knock out cancer.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: They're awesome. They're really kind. They're really generous to the community,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: the city at large, anything and everything they can do
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: to make people's lives better. Aside from just giving them
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: an amazing food weekend and week out, day in, day out,
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: month and month out, they also have an awesome breakfast pizza.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: So again, get yourself some one pie pizza if you
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: have not already. If you think free agency has been
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: exciting and you're pumped cool, get some pizza to push
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: you further and how excited you are. If you're disappointed
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: with what the bills have done and you're sad, get
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: yourself to want pie pizza to make you feel better.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: But whatever you do, when however, you get one pie,
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: you will not be disappointed. So get yourself some one
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: pie pizza. I'm gonna throw up the banner, this says
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: tootles folks, because we are going to start to wind
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: down Sego Bay and grab this comment from John Robert,
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: who says, who will take Regie Gilliam's place? Maybe Jackson
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Hawes or maybe no one. I thought Joe Brady could
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: have used Regie Gillium more than he did the past
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: couple of years, which makes me think he's merely not
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: going to prioritize full back like that. So I think
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: they'll incorporate a tight end to that role and maybe
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: sign a cheap full back. I don't think they value
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: full back like I wanted them to, or maybe like
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: other teams are. But good question, fair question. I hope
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: you folks enjoyed this episode. If you have not already,
