Two new baby gorillas, Kadre and Oku, have arrived at Woodland Park Zoo—both males, each with meaningful names tied to Central African heritage. Oku’s birth was historic, marking the zoo’s first-ever gorilla C-section. What’s even more heartwarming? The moms, Olympia and Jamani, have swapped caregiving duties—Olympia’s baby is being raised by Jamani, and Jamani’s baby by Olympia—recreating a co-parenting bond they forged years ago at the North Carolina Zoo.
