- 0:04Podcast. Woo woo woo.
- 0:09Big eyes there, Kevin. Yeah, I know.
- 0:11I was like, I gotta look into the camera.
- 0:13Not that we're on YouTube, Woo. Welcome in one and all the
- 0:20Bangor management the fantasy hockey podcast with Jake hockey
- 0:24shirtless no shirt hockey list Josh, I guess if you will and
- 0:32Habs jersey Kevin. I point that out because I got
- 0:34me my Hockey Hall of Fame shirt. Kevin is Kevin.
- 0:38I didn't get the memo. Rocking the best team in the
- 0:40league out here. I'm just gonna order this shirt
- 0:42every time we record. My mom got me this so.
- 0:48I don't need to. Brag yeah that's worth something
- 0:50that's that counts that's not feel bad for making fun of you.
- 0:54But anyway, today is gonna be the day.
- 0:57OK, sorry. Today we are OK.
- 1:00We could literally do this all episode and I'm honestly
- 1:03tempted. But let's get down to business
- 1:05to defeat the Huns today, Week 5 News update and would you rather
- 1:10episode? Follow us on Spotify, Apple
- 1:12Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts, rate US five stars and
- 1:16subscribe to us on YouTube. Woo.
- 1:19The comment leave a like we've gotta get in the habit of saying
- 1:21that now. Yes, yes, it's true.
- 1:23It's true. We're this is new territory for
- 1:25us. So now we're gonna be
- 1:27referencing stuff that we're doing on video or happening on
- 1:30video. So if you're audio only, you can
- 1:33become a double banger and bang on video and on audio.
- 1:39So listen, the more the merrier. After being on video.
- 1:46Not use those specific words at all.
- 1:49That's not what I said. Don't put words in my mouth.
- 1:52Way to go, Kevin. Politically, politically
- 1:54correct, OK. And the link to all of our
- 1:58socialists in the link tree in the podcast description.
- 2:01Yes, I could still. Say that.
- 2:03Great. All right, enough lollygagging
- 2:06Josh. Why don't you start us off with
- 2:08Tidbit News story #1. All right, Shane Glass despair
- 2:14has an abdominal injury and has no timeline to return.
- 2:18So fun for me as an owner. Sean Walker will be properly one
- 2:21in his place until counter Miller returns in a few games,
- 2:23in which case he should take it. God is very literally came back
- 2:27for maybe 2 shifts and then got a tummy ache and it's now out
- 2:34indefinitely. It's going to come out of
- 2:36something super messed up and I'm gonna feel.
- 2:37Terrible. Like Boo Hoo.
- 2:40Yeah. Exactly, Yeah.
- 2:43Anyways, yeah, no, it sucks as a Gospar owner because he was
- 2:46doing so well to start the season, but he just checking
- 2:48back on IR Plus and wait, I'm not too excited about either of
- 2:52the power play one quarterback replacements, whether it's
- 2:55Miller or Sean Walker. The thing I like about both of
- 2:58them or more Walker is that they have the back Cats.
- 3:00So it's back cats with maybe a straight puck will hit him on
- 3:03the power play and it'll be an assist, you know, but they're
- 3:06not the most offensively minded players and it's not a very good
- 3:09power play. So nothing too exciting there
- 3:11when it's not gospel on there. Writing off location yet not I
- 3:16know it's I'm trying to manifest destiny.
- 3:19We're gonna get into that in the mailbag episode, so I won't
- 3:23bring that discussion on just yet, but we could discuss that
- 3:26more. So stay tuned for that.
- 3:28No sport. Yeah, I mean, mail backups will
- 3:29be the next episode, so stay tuned for when that comes out.
- 3:32But also I will say I'm also not ruling out Nikishin from that.
- 3:36I just really got some point. They're gonna try it.
- 3:39I think they're gonna try it at some point.
- 3:42I just think it's. Not might not be in a few weeks,
- 3:44maybe it's in a month or two, but I think it's inevitable as
- 3:46long as costs. Spending maybe next year.
- 3:49If you're maybe. This league, but.
- 3:51If we see him on PB2 and it does and it goes well, maybe.
- 3:54That's OK, we'll get into it on the mail bag episode and I'll
- 3:57explain why you guys are wrong. But on the topic of the Canes,
- 4:02Kochetkov is back from injury and Carolina will be holding on
- 4:05to 3 goalies for the foreseeable future.
- 4:07Because that pussy is so good. Whoa, saying to bang on YouTube
- 4:15and to bang on audio, but you just said somebody's name in
- 4:19that profanity way. That's his name.
- 4:22OK, anyways I think that is. Actually a catastrophe.
- 4:30It's not my fault, that's what the name is like.
- 4:33No, not that there's a video. People can tell when we're just
- 4:35being dumb or or audio funny. Well, honestly, now that now
- 4:42they can tell. When I'm in the gym and I'm
- 4:45listening, sometimes I'm just like Dang, I wish I like laughed
- 4:48more so that people know I'm joking and I wasn't too serious.
- 4:52I feel like that's another thing that the podcast is live lacking
- 4:55is more laughter. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 4:57We're pretty good on that. Yeah.
- 4:59Anyways, this just sucks for all three of the goalies.
- 5:02I mean, obviously, but no one's rostering bossy.
- 5:04But could Chekov and Anderson, both are probably rostered in a
- 5:07lot of leagues, and now they're like not even 50% starts.
- 5:10They're like 4545 and 10 probably.
- 5:13So I don't really have any interest in any of the Carolina
- 5:16goalies unless you're pretty desperate.
- 5:18I'm pretty desperate and I own Freddie Anderson.
- 5:22I'm gonna bring him on the road trip.
- 5:23They're like we've got 3 goalies.
- 5:25He's not playing this game, so let's he just chills at home.
- 5:27The road trip is 1 game and he wasn't starting this game so.
- 5:30He's no, no, I know, but it's like.
- 5:32Honestly that's kind of good for him though.
- 5:34Like he's the type that needs Nadine.
- 5:36The rest and the travel is just extra extra stress on his body I
- 5:40guess. But.
- 5:41I don't know if he's gonna turn into the blitz.
- 5:45But all I'm saying is I, I expect at least one start from
- 5:48these guys on a weekly basis and there's probably one of these
- 5:51guys that gets two starts I think at some point.
- 5:53On a four-game week, sure. If it's a three-game week, I
- 5:55just expect 111. I think it's gonna be Kochetkov
- 5:59and Anderson kind of splitting 5050 and I think if they can
- 6:03avoid Freddie going on A1 game road trip and they just take
- 6:08busy to be the backup. Like I don't I don't think
- 6:10that's the worst idea. Like he was gonna play the game
- 6:12anyways, right? So I I wonder what they do but I
- 6:14don't think I can hold 3 goalies for the longest time and I at
- 6:17some point I think pussy just gets sent down and when they get
- 6:19healthier and actually need more skitters scatter slots just
- 6:22like. Hold on to him just to be like a
- 6:24warm, like a seat warm for the backup goalie every time that
- 6:27you take a little short road trip so Freddie doesn't have to
- 6:29travel because he's holding frail.
- 6:32Like defenseman and forwards are pretty valuable.
- 6:34People are always making different line combinations.
- 6:36Like you can't just call 3 goalies.
- 6:38Yeah, well honestly this sucks because it's still a question
- 6:41mark, even though it is going to be the lion share split between
- 6:44Kochetkov and Anderson. It's just going to be so
- 6:46annoying, yeah. I will say though, I just people
- 6:49I feel like are super hype on Kochetkov is like he's back from
- 6:51IR. Who do I cut?
- 6:52And like people's goalies are like it's like damn cover Melka
- 6:56and Aiden Hill. And I'm like, I'd rather have
- 6:58all those guys over there over Kochetkov, to be honest.
- 7:01Yeah, he's definitely overrated. I think top tier tandem guy
- 7:06though. But the tandem, like Josh has
- 7:08said it before in the podcast where they don't get many shots
- 7:11against. So if he's letting in two goals
- 7:14on like 22 shots or 20 shots, it's not the it's not like a
- 7:20huge maker break save percentage.
- 7:22And Carolina isn't the team that's like winning every game
- 7:25either right now. Like they're they're obviously
- 7:27not playing at the potential. But he only plays one game a
- 7:30week. Yeah, I'd rather a goal.
- 7:32He's gonna play three games and only wins has a chance of
- 7:35winning, like two or three of those.
- 7:36Games. I was answering questions score
- 7:38today and somebody asked me if they should start or they should
- 7:41keep Kochetkov or Spencer night and their stats heavily heavily
- 7:47influenced. Like it was 5 points for a win
- 7:50and I think it was like -2 for a loss or something.
- 7:52And saves were .1 and goals against were .5.
- 7:56So it was 5 saves equals one goal against pretty much.
- 8:00And obviously Caroline is a way better team than Chicago and I
- 8:02expect Caroline to get significantly more wins.
- 8:04But if she's playing one game on on any given week and that ends
- 8:07up being a loss, like you're just holding a spot, that's not
- 8:10gonna get you any points when Spencer and probably get at
- 8:12least two to three stars. Maybe they might not all be
- 8:14wins, but given the quantity of saves he's gonna get and also
- 8:17like the odd win here or there too, I just think it's, I don't
- 8:21know. I don't think Jacob is that
- 8:22good. I I would rather a lot of
- 8:24goalies ahead of him. Agreed.
- 8:27OK, onto the weekly segment called Injuries on Kevin's Team.
- 8:31Yay, I love. This part William Eckland is
- 8:35day-to-day with a lower body injury.
- 8:37Alexander Wennberg takes his spot on power play 1 and the
- 8:40team is considering to put him on IR.
- 8:42So I don't think it's a long term. 1, if they're considering
- 8:45putting him on IR and not immediately putting him on IR,
- 8:47that means you know, it's probably not too long term.
- 8:49But if it's even a possibility, it could be like a full week.
- 8:52Yeah, I mean, this episode is gonna go live on Wednesday and
- 8:56he is not playing the Wednesday game confirmed.
- 8:58So it might be the game after that.
- 9:00I guess we'll have to see. But I mean, we have three IR
- 9:04spots in our league. I'm at 6 injuries so that you
- 9:08can do the math. I don't know.
- 9:10I do not have a lot of. Players honestly just post your
- 9:12team online so everyone knows who's gonna get injured and then
- 9:15on discord and they can all trade away those guys before it
- 9:17happens. Maybe somebody did get rich
- 9:18bidding on the under on some of these guys.
- 9:21Yeah, exactly. Anyways, yeah, so I'm hoping
- 9:23it's not super long term. It just feels like I'm a week or
- 9:26two away from being serviceable as a fantasy.
- 9:29Team, but I wonder if there's any chance that Chef takes one
- 9:32big spot. On power one gonna say I'm way
- 9:36more just encouraged right now than Weinberg.
- 9:38Yeah, I anyway I. Picked up.
- 9:41We all regret robbing him on time.
- 9:43That guy on Boston and at the time of this recording I missed
- 9:47out on like 3 points over 2 games.
- 9:49Insane minutes, game-winning goal.
- 9:51Not that our league counts. That just shows how pudgy is big
- 9:54disaster. Wenberg is just not a guy who's
- 9:57gonna be on PowerPoint one for long.
- 9:58There's just no way. I mean he's just a fill in for.
- 10:02Yeah, but I do think Kurshev is good enough that at least in the
- 10:05time being, he'll take it. Yes back, no question he's gonna
- 10:09keep it. But for the few games, however
- 10:11long it is, I'd expect Kirsh have to be there sooner than
- 10:13later. Do you think there's a chance
- 10:15that when Eckland comes back if Kershaw keeps a different spot
- 10:18on the P1? Yes, jumping off like. 2 little
- 10:21ones. Yeah, I mean, it's not going to
- 10:23be Celebriti, it's not gonna be clean because they want the
- 10:27defence, it's not gonna be kind when he comes back.
- 10:30So then there's Smith and Toffoli, Only it's gonna be
- 10:33Smith. I think he's, I think he's still
- 10:35a doesn't have enough tenure to get to the P1 spot like I.
- 10:39Don't think he gets it. And honestly, Jackie, to make
- 10:41you feel better about not picking him up, I think this is
- 10:43a really good hot streak he's on.
- 10:44But any guy who's line 2 power play 2 I don't think can sustain
- 10:48this level of point product. Well, any guy who's a relative
- 10:51nobody and is lying to power play too is not going to sustain
- 10:53this long term. So you're not gonna be beating
- 10:56yourself up all season about missing out on this.
- 10:58Especially because Marat insert last name here on Boston is
- 11:01about to pop off. Yeah, exactly.
- 11:05Yeah, we've got a bunch of Vancouver news because they are
- 11:08one of the most injured teams in the league.
- 11:10Rock Besser returned to the lineup and took his spot back on
- 11:13line on power play 1 and then a great 3 point night.
- 11:15So overtime winner baby, let's go.
- 11:18Yeah. Maybe with one second left in
- 11:19the game. Yeah, I think it was 2 seconds
- 11:22against Nashville, which is also OK.
- 11:26If we're rounding then it's 2. That's the same thing happen
- 11:30with the housing for two seconds left against them.
- 11:31Anyways. Maybe a light at the end of the
- 11:33tunnel for some sort of offence from the Canucks.
- 11:35Speaking of light at the end of the tunnel, Quinn, he was also
- 11:38returned to the lineup and bumped Chronic off power play 1.
- 11:41He actually got no points in the there.
- 11:43Five goal win last night but not too worried he's gonna bring the
- 11:48offence. Also, I just want to say
- 11:50something to monitor with Vancouver if you're playing in a
- 11:53deeper faceoff wins league because I know Besser is
- 11:57available and I think like 70% of leagues right now he is
- 12:01playing online 2 with Rachel and Debrusk, which ended up having
- 12:06like good chemistry last game. I don't know if that's going to
- 12:08stick. Patterson is playing with Kane
- 12:11and Sherwood, which is just kind of wild because I mean, it just
- 12:15feels like those. Yeah, for sure.
- 12:18But it just feels like those two guys.
- 12:21Yeah, but it feels like it doesn't suit Peterson.
- 12:23If I. Don't know I was.
- 12:24Thinking that maybe because. Peterson is like so soft these
- 12:27days, having to like, enforce her bodyguards on his leg line
- 12:31to kind of createspace for him to do what he does.
- 12:33I don't know. It could work.
- 12:34I mean, they're gonna keep blending the lines on.
- 12:36This is sick. But what kind of like in my head
- 12:38I was like, that's a fun thought.
- 12:40But just relevant news is that Better was taking face offs
- 12:44online too with Rachel censoring dot line.
- 12:47So maybe like a pure centre? No, he's not.
- 12:49Before he got traded. So maybe some extra viability or
- 12:52maybe imagined Bresser gets centre eligibility.
- 12:55That would be fun for me because I have one on my team.
- 12:57So I just wanted to throw that out there.
- 12:58I was like, why does better have 5 face off?
- 13:00Yeah, I was. Like, OK, yeah, it's good to
- 13:02keep an eye on for sure and on. The do you know way before we go
- 13:06on, you know, stranger things like.
- 13:08Another show? No, never heard of it.
- 13:11You know, in the first season when like, you know, she's
- 13:13hanging out with with the guys and then like, there's like
- 13:17something that they try to bully them.
- 13:19Like they're like there's a school bullies who are like
- 13:21attacking them. And then 11 just like comes in
- 13:23and saves the day. And then like Dustin's like,
- 13:26yeah, she's our friend and she's crazy.
- 13:28I feel like that's Peterson was sure.
- 13:32Wouldn't these guys get 10 hits a game sometimes and he's just
- 13:39like chilling there having the best time at this.
- 13:43Sherwood bodyguards. Evander Kane had.
- 13:46Two. Come on man.
- 13:48I don't know how that flipped out.
- 13:49Do we know how to bleep with video?
- 13:52Hopefully though, I know that's good enough.
- 13:58On the train of Vancouver Canucks getting healthy, Connor
- 14:01Garland is expected back in the next few games and he should
- 14:04bump Sherwood off Power play 1, so just more.
- 14:08Probably line 1. Lineup, yeah, more guys coming
- 14:11back to the lineup. It'll get the line blender going
- 14:14again. I don't.
- 14:15I wouldn't count on anyone's deployment on the Canucks being
- 14:19stable or safe. So.
- 14:21The only one that's stable and safe is Arshdeep Bains who
- 14:24exactly heated up power places. People mentioned it in the
- 14:29discord. They were like, he did
- 14:31something. I got excited.
- 14:34You like tackle on to what you said.
- 14:36Yeah, I think we've spoken into existence.
- 14:39I think exactly. I feel bad about it was like, is
- 14:41he even a real person or we just, we made it up that way
- 14:43somehow on the Canucks and it's happening.
- 14:46Did we literally invent a hockey player?
- 14:48Anyway, I think we. Did back to the Kevin's team
- 14:51injuries. Zach Benson is out about a week
- 14:54with a lower body injury. Isaac Rosen takes a spot on
- 14:57power play 1 and had a good first NHL game.
- 15:00Not too interested in picking up Rosen because Vincent should be
- 15:04out back soon. I think Buffalo may be another
- 15:07one of those teams that's like extremely depleted with injuries
- 15:10right now is pretty bad. Like Josh Norris, Benson,
- 15:14Zucker, Kulik. Yeah, a lot.
- 15:16No, yeah, but they just got Kesselring back.
- 15:19They got tagged. They've got the goat, Josh
- 15:21Stone, so. Their offence is, I want to say,
- 15:25just like I'm worried about their it's fun, their success.
- 15:29I don't know, It's fun, but it's like when Jordan Greenway is
- 15:31filling in on like your top six, it's like something's wrong.
- 15:34Yeah, for sure, for sure. I don't know why they just move
- 15:37on up to the first line. I think they just like the
- 15:40chemistry of that second line of Don McLeod and Tuck.
- 15:42So that seems to be staying together.
- 15:44But I'm fine with Thompson moving to centre for a bit and
- 15:45getting me some face off wins. Anyways, finally some good news
- 15:49for Kevin's team. Vincent Trocheck has been
- 15:51practicing in a non contact jersey and should return within
- 15:54the week. Expecting to bump Laugh off
- 15:56power play 1 and have a top six role at even strength.
- 15:58I don't know what you consider line 1 and line 2 on that team,
- 16:01but I would expect it to be true track with Panarin and then
- 16:04either Laugh or Cooley. And then it'll be Miller with
- 16:06Savannah, Chad and the other one of Laffer Cooley, and they're
- 16:09both line 1.5. I can also see them just keeping
- 16:13Panarin, ZIB and NJT together after they stacked that top line
- 16:19and just have which I play with Laffin Cooley.
- 16:21Like, I guess we'll see what the options are, but JT and Project
- 16:24are going to be the two centres and then we'll see how the
- 16:26wingers shake out. Yeah, I think whatever, whatever
- 16:28has any sort of success, they're gonna roll with because they've
- 16:30struggled so much early in the season, I will say.
- 16:33I holding like a Rangers guy like a Panarin has advantage ad
- 16:36like AJ and to a lesser extent Cooley and laugh.
- 16:40I'd be interested. I have laughed and I'm like so
- 16:43close to dropping him. I think life is really
- 16:45struggling right now. I do not like the outlook for
- 16:47him. I really wanna see what it looks
- 16:49like when Trocheck is back before I drop him because
- 16:52obviously losing P1 is bad, but he hasn't been doing anything
- 16:55with it anyways and if it could pump his even strength
- 16:57production then it's something to keep an eye out on.
- 17:00So that is something because that's one of the big player
- 17:02like that comes back and the lines get shaken up a bit.
- 17:04Definitely something to keep an eye on.
- 17:06Yeah, there's like a real chance that it ends up being, you know,
- 17:10Zib Trocheck and laugh, which I mean, offensively I like more
- 17:15than Cooley. And then Cooley may go and set
- 17:17as a bandage on the. Top I don't know if you've
- 17:19looked at Cooley, but cool he's been really hot yeah and also
- 17:23like the coaching staff loves him for whatever reason.
- 17:26I think every time I see you look at Rangers news, the fans
- 17:28hate them. They think he's like, so the
- 17:30fans hate. They keep saying is overwritten
- 17:32and should be in the top six, but the coaching staff keeps
- 17:35talking about him so positively and he's who's on the ice too.
- 17:40And Cooley on my team. And every time I look at the
- 17:42game lot like the games at the end of the day, I'm just like if
- 17:45I just swap their production, I'm happy with where I drafted
- 17:47these guys. You know, like if Cooley stat
- 17:49line look was what Panarin got me on that evening, then I'm
- 17:52happy. No clues and Aaron was putting
- 17:54up the hits. That cool he was then.
- 17:56That would be the best pick in the track.
- 17:58Literally. My thing here is that there's
- 18:01six good players and Trocheck is going to fill in for lava and
- 18:05laugh. I don't think he's getting
- 18:07bumped off line one or two. His spot there should be.
- 18:11Life does not look good. I will say that's the thing.
- 18:13It just doesn't look good. And the coaching staff does not
- 18:16put out positive news about him. They're just kind of like they
- 18:19they just talked. They just had a whole segment on
- 18:20how like he's not generational. Like nobody asked for that, but
- 18:23they were just what do you think about your first?
- 18:25First of all, we're all picked Alexis Lafreniere.
- 18:28Like the future of it is just like, well, everybody thinks
- 18:30that the first overall pace going to be generational.
- 18:32Like clearly this is not what this is.
- 18:33But like you're just like, OK, like this is not what the
- 18:36kidney. See here is so brutal.
- 18:39That's great. Yeah.
- 18:40So I'm just not enthused about having laugh.
- 18:43And I would say, like, if the Rangers are really like, you
- 18:47know, going through in your deadline, I could see Panera
- 18:49getting moved. I can see Laugh getting moved.
- 18:51Like it's not out of the question.
- 18:52I don't think laughs getting moved but I definitely think
- 18:55Canarians 90% getting traded. If.
- 18:58They're not. This will be mentioned in our
- 19:00hot topics so we won't get into. It but last but not least on
- 19:04this, I just think that Trocheck has amazing standalone value.
- 19:07I. Have points leak.
- 19:10Yeah, I haven't been a points league where his value is not
- 19:12nearly as intense as it is in the Bangers league.
- 19:16And even there with like 60 something this last year he
- 19:19ended up ranked like 5th overall.
- 19:20He hits all the categories, especially if you're in a
- 19:23faceoffs league. Like buy him absolutely big time
- 19:27because he ends up being so important for your team.
- 19:31My expectation is for him to be back Saturday of this week, so
- 19:34Saturday, whatever, November 9th or 10th, whatever it is.
- 19:39Yeah. And his value becomes like
- 19:40instant because he just covers everything.
- 19:42So yeah, you got traded for that.
- 19:43If you can, I drafted him in the third round without the
- 19:45expectation of PPU one. That's just how valuable he is
- 19:48because really specifically also shorthanded points are are
- 19:51valuable and he had the most shorthanded point last year.
- 19:53So yeah, alright, let's move on to the next.
- 19:56One, Elias Lindholm is week to week with a lower body injury,
- 19:59Victor Arvidson taking a spot on power play 1 and Marat Kunov
- 20:03taking a spot online. One, just throwing that in there
- 20:05to make you happy. But.
- 20:06Obviously the more the more relevant 1.
- 20:08Is Power play 1? I mean this is a pretty big loss
- 20:13especially if you had Lindholm and we told you to sell him high
- 20:16and you didn't sell him high and now his values in the toilet.
- 20:20So I hope you sold him if you had the chance.
- 20:24He'll come back at some point in a few weeks and he won't be as
- 20:26good as he was at the start of the season but he'll still be
- 20:29serviceable. But in the meantime Arvidsons
- 20:31guy would put on my watch list, but I'm not like dying to grab
- 20:33him either. Zaka has also low-key been
- 20:37pretty good for this team and last year they really expected a
- 20:40lot out of him, but this year I feel like he's just quietly the
- 20:42two see and like he doesn't have the best wingers but somehow he
- 20:44still producing. If you have to own a centre on
- 20:48this team right now for a Bangers league, who are you most
- 20:50excited? About Zacco, Sure.
- 20:53OK, Yeah. Cause to me, and I know I picked
- 20:56up Marat cuz I'm still hoping for good things but I've been
- 20:59decently high on Minton for a while and I think that he could
- 21:02be good and bangers. He's yeah.
- 21:05You just have to have the points upside that being in the top 6
- 21:08and exposed to P1 has. Yeah, I regrettably think that
- 21:13even by the time this episode drops, there's a chance that our
- 21:16boy Marat is not on line 1. So convincing gets bumped into a
- 21:20top six role. I'm like, not heavily
- 21:22interested, but watch list for sure.
- 21:25He could produce. I don't think getting bumped to
- 21:27that easily. I don't know if you remember
- 21:29like a week ago before Linton got injured, they actually tried
- 21:34putting Marat online one as a winger and bumped Geeky down to
- 21:37line 3 because they're like, this guy has seven goals in six
- 21:39games, Obviously we should move him to line 3 anyway.
- 21:41Plastic coaching. The coaches, yeah, exactly.
- 21:43Sometimes I don't understand them but anyways I think they
- 21:45the coach said he likes he likes Marats in the top 6 so I don't
- 21:48see him getting a spot. But Minton also something that I
- 21:52like doing with these lineups as well is I like looking at who's
- 21:55on the special teams and specifically the penalty kill.
- 21:58When a guy's on the first penalty kill unit, it just means
- 22:00that the team trusts this person as well to be on the ice in
- 22:03crucial moments. Like you're trying to prevent a
- 22:05goal at that point and Minden is the centre on the 1st penalty
- 22:08kill. So just definitely if he gets
- 22:11bumped in the top six, I'm actually more interested because
- 22:13he has like the banger profile that he can hit shots and hits
- 22:16too. But like Josh said, like I don't
- 22:18expect more out to get bumped too easily unless they're really
- 22:21going bad. Yeah, OK, you're Mats Zuccarello
- 22:25is expected back sometime this week.
- 22:27Expect him to bump Tarasenko off Power Play 1.
- 22:30I think there's some interesting stuff going off on with
- 22:32Minnesota, especially with their Power Play 1 unit.
- 22:35Again, I keep saying this, but this is another one of our hot
- 22:37topics in the next episode. Well, you won't get into it too
- 22:40much just yet, but. Here's an episode that we're
- 22:42gonna tell you about all you talk about on the next episode.
- 22:44Yeah, exactly. It just has a lot of the news
- 22:47coincides with the stuff that's interesting to talk about.
- 22:49But no, Zuccarello, he's always underrated.
- 22:52Last year I got him super late in the draft.
- 22:54He's always good for .8 points per game with maybe two shots.
- 22:58It's not the flashiest thing, but it's better than you can get
- 23:01on waivers and most leagues. So I think that he could help
- 23:04the power play. They've been struggling and I
- 23:07definitely would pick him up at least on your IR and then see
- 23:11what he does for a game or two. I think the gorilla will is
- 23:15going to have more value than people expect.
- 23:17I just think it's always like that, even when he's healthy and
- 23:19and drafted later in the draft. The question is do you think he
- 23:23slots right away into the line 1 and he bumps markets to answer?
- 23:27Line 1, I mean, he's going to be top 6.
- 23:29I don't know if he's going to be line one, line 2, even strength,
- 23:31but I'm sure he's going power play 1.
- 23:33OK, over terrorists and clear 100% certain.
- 23:36Yeah, easy. OK, I've there's also a chance.
- 23:39I'm not the coach, right? I don't have a Direct Line to
- 23:42John Hines, right? Now, but that's what 100% means,
- 23:44Josh, are you 100% certain? 99% certain.
- 23:48OK. But I know the gorilla in the
- 23:50past has played either with Kaprizov or with Hartman.
- 23:53So it kind of feels like it's either line one or line 3 in my
- 23:56opinion. So we'll see how that goes
- 23:58because I can see them running like a fully no Hartman
- 24:01Zuccarello line. The identity of a line 3 he's
- 24:05not like a a strong. Defence.
- 24:07But if you have a Hartman and Folino together, I feel that's
- 24:10enough. And then you need like a you can
- 24:12have a more attacking kind of presence on that.
- 24:15Line too unlikely that he's not in the top 6.
- 24:17I'm just putting it other that is definitely not impossible,
- 24:21but because your answer has been good on line one, that's why I'm
- 24:23just like, maybe they wanna just keep rolling with what's working
- 24:26and then I'm just putting it out.
- 24:28I'm not saying that's gonna happen.
- 24:29But yeah, they can come online too though.
- 24:33Tarasenko, I. Don't think yeah, I don't have
- 24:35any allegiance to Tarasenko. I think he can easily be Line 3
- 24:37power play too. Yeah, I I don't see a world in
- 24:41which he doesn't get top 6. Maybe the power play isn't going
- 24:45to come instantly, but it's gonna happen at some point.
- 24:48He's. I wanted to raise a question for
- 24:50the power play. Do you think there's any chance
- 24:52they run 5 forwards because they do not have a a guy that's like
- 24:57cemented in that position? Let's not get into it too much
- 24:59because there's one of my topics.
- 25:01It's actually OK. Yeah, but I don't think they're
- 25:05gonna do that. But.
- 25:07Jakey raised his hands. Yeah.
- 25:11I agree. Next point.
- 25:12OK, Robert Thomas returned from injury and regained his spot on
- 25:16line one power play 1 and then put up a two point performance
- 25:19with four shots such as double his average shots.
- 25:21So that's exciting, exciting for Blues fans and for Jakey cuz
- 25:26hopefully this could spark some offence and get them some sort
- 25:30of relevance both in real life and in fantasy.
- 25:34And I think it's probably too late now, but Thomas would have
- 25:37been a great blow while he was still injured.
- 25:39He comes back, puts up a two point game.
- 25:40That's hard to hard to buy. At that, we mentioned Thomas as
- 25:43a biologist. Yeah, I think the window might
- 25:45have just shut immediately. Yeah, this Central Division
- 25:49though, is way crazy right now because the Avalanche, Jets,
- 25:54Mammoth Stars, Wild and Blues to me can all be playoff contending
- 26:00teams. It's a loaded division.
- 26:02Whereas the Blackhawks and Predators.
- 26:05Sorry, I don't. I don't think Wild and Blues
- 26:07could contend. Really.
- 26:09Yeah. The Blues are are super good at
- 26:12fooling everyone that they're horrible and then being amazing.
- 26:15So that's why I was. Yeah.
- 26:17No, it's every year though, right?
- 26:20They love doing. For four weeks, I fell for it.
- 26:23But there's no way that they're going to be this bad for this
- 26:27long. Thomas is the biggest point
- 26:29producer on that team in both IRL and fantasy.
- 26:33You want them. So to me, there are finishing
- 26:36out of the Blackhawks and Predators for sure.
- 26:39And yeah, they're gonna have to do something.
- 26:41And I think it's gonna happen sooner than later.
- 26:43And he makes the whole team better.
- 26:45For sure. That's what happens when you.
- 26:47Get your best player back from injury.
- 26:49Yeah, and you super under the radar, right?
- 26:51So I feel like guys like Holloway Buchnevich, who he's
- 26:56been nothing and it's just going to get better for the whole
- 26:59team. Are you worried about Jordan
- 27:01Cairo at all? No, he was on like an 18 point
- 27:05streak. I know, but then now we just
- 27:06playing like 14 minutes tonight. I don't know.
- 27:09I'm not too concerned at the end of the day that he's one of the
- 27:13top three players on that team so.
- 27:16A really good he gets disrespected a lot.
- 27:18He does for sure, but I think I'm not worried about him.
- 27:21I would buy him honestly. I tried.
- 27:23Nobody. Nobody on the blue.
- 27:25I also tried. I know we always get the same
- 27:28people. Yeah, he just didn't want Morgan
- 27:30Riley back. Yeah, OK, Jake Ottinger just had
- 27:36a baby. Super inconsiderate and will
- 27:38miss at least one game. Casey Desmith will get one or
- 27:41two starts in his absence. He didn't even ask his fantasy
- 27:44managers. Well, you know what we thought.
- 27:46About this is my pet peeve is like they do this is a thing.
- 27:50Hockey players and athletes in general, they plan when they
- 27:52have they conceive the babies that the baby can be born in the
- 27:55offseason. OK, so when they have a baby in
- 27:58the middle of the season, it's their fault.
- 28:01Are you worried about Holland's performance now that you have a
- 28:03baby waking him up at 5:00 AM every morning or 3:00 AM?
- 28:07Honestly, he's rich enough they can get a night nurse or
- 28:09something and I think. He can sleep just fine.
- 28:11He's not gonna go through what I'm going through.
- 28:14You you think that having a kid would soften up your perspective
- 28:17on this, but not at all. How dare you do this to my
- 28:22fantasy team? Yeah, you on my team, but I'm
- 28:24just like. If we just started, we should
- 28:26start our website about like you know, tracking pregnancies for
- 28:29pregnancy players. These are the advanced.
- 28:33Metrics that you know most podcasts don't have.
- 28:36Trade this guy because his wife is in the final championship.
- 28:42Literally. There's glorious level.
- 28:44Groinindex.com of, you know, NHL.
- 28:48Yeah, exactly. Pregnancy tracker 101 feel like
- 28:52it just. Can't be legal to track this?
- 28:54I don't. Know.
- 28:56Not be. Let's move on before we get
- 28:59canceled. William Neyland.
- 29:01We're gonna get sued or something.
- 29:02Yeah, William Nylander is back from injury and bumped Domi off
- 29:05power play 1 and then put up a three-point night.
- 29:08Nothing surprising there. Yeah, and the Toronto Maple
- 29:12Leafs came back, They were down big and then they came back in
- 29:16the third, which is pretty surprising.
- 29:17I mean, good for the team. Like they've been struggling a
- 29:19lot and they just stacked line one.
- 29:21Nice Matthews Nylander so. Yeah.
- 29:24That's going to be interesting to see if it sticks the wheels.
- 29:28Are starting to fall off on the Tristan Jarry redemption arc and
- 29:32I think Archie she loves could start emerging as a more of a
- 29:35starting as a tank than a tandem after that performance.
- 29:38Look, it was just one performance, but as someone who
- 29:40drafted Jerry in the last round last year, this is this what
- 29:44happens. And if you're like, if the
- 29:45Penguins were sucking anyways and they were taking, it's like,
- 29:47OK, keep tossing them in there, but they're like near the top of
- 29:50the standings. They can't mess around if
- 29:51they're going to try and actually make the playoffs.
- 29:52So just putting this out there, but our tours, if he's not
- 29:55owned, I might go pick him up. Yep.
- 29:58And also on the leaves, like at practice today, we saw OEL
- 30:02quarterbacking power play 1 instead of Morgan Riley.
- 30:04So something to mention because. Only someone could have
- 30:08predicted this. Well, if you look at the bigger
- 30:11management, we predicted it, all of three of us.
- 30:15I don't know which direction his box is, but in my camera he's
- 30:17right. Above me on the boat goes up.
- 30:21Kevin was saying Kevin was saying that Morgan Riley was,
- 30:26you know, the second coming of Jesus.
- 30:27So we'll. See what happens?
- 30:29Five shots and two of his first like 5 games so and.
- 30:33That's why no massive sample size was this.
- 30:36He has three points in his last two games.
- 30:38You guys listen, he's not. He's not cooked.
- 30:40You should definitely trade for Morgan Riley.
- 30:44Anyways. Kevin said Morgan Riley is so
- 30:47good that he can make boats fly. That's what happened.
- 30:50I did not say that. I did not say that.
- 30:53And we just did that to Morgan Riley when I was in the basement
- 30:55and he told me that this power play one thing is just a phase.
- 30:58He's gonna be back on there, guys.
- 31:00Like just one more thing, Nielander on line one.
- 31:04His sky is actually the limit with him.
- 31:06It's crazy. He's, I think they don't,
- 31:07Michelle. So I just don't see it lasting.
- 31:10I think it's gonna be like he's gonna be really good while it
- 31:12does last. But there's not everything that
- 31:15sticks for like a long term. That's like we need a quick, I
- 31:18mean. Right now because.
- 31:19We're not reading enough offence but.
- 31:20It's not impossible that Like Knives gets down to line 2 and
- 31:23Matthews, Nylander is just. The thing yeah, yeah, I just.
- 31:26Don't think that's. Imploded like 3 guys online and
- 31:28just leave to various like to himself.
- 31:30I know Bobby Mcmahan slander is not tolerated in front of Jake,
- 31:33but it would. Pretty much scratched.
- 31:35Yeah. And then he scored the
- 31:37game-winning goal. Yeah, but yeah, no.
- 31:39You should not have gotten. Scratched.
- 31:41Yeah, exactly. I don't need an Alaska.
- 31:42But for now, at least, if leaders with Matthews, they need
- 31:45to get both guys going and. Yeah, it's gonna Matthews has
- 31:47been underperforming so. Other than his bloggers nuts.
- 31:50Are you leaving? Are you looking to trade your
- 31:52Toronto assets away if you have them on your fantasy team
- 31:55because they also have the worst playoff schedule?
- 31:58Like they're one of those teams that has.
- 31:59It's a 333 at least. Yeah, Which is game.
- 32:01Weeks, it's the worst compared to all the other teams.
- 32:04Some teams have like a 23443. Two.
- 32:06Yeah, they're the least games over the course of the three
- 32:09playoff. Weeks I'm just I'm just
- 32:10splitting year one. I like when you split feathers.
- 32:14Yeah, I'm never gonna sell low. So if my Toronto guys
- 32:17underperforming, I'll wait until he performs.
- 32:19But yes, I'd I'd have don't have much interest in having Toronto
- 32:22players this year. So I would wait until the guy
- 32:24starts popping off and then I would try and trade him.
- 32:27Yeah, same wavelength. PLD has an LBI and is expected
- 32:31to miss an extended period of time.
- 32:33Chickens power play one spot should be even safer now.
- 32:37I honestly, I feel like I'm the highest on Chicken out of all of
- 32:39us. I've had them in my team in the
- 32:42past when he was on Arizona. And I just think that he has
- 32:45great category coverage in him. Like he has the ceiling of like
- 32:48the shots and the blocks. He's not really a big hitter,
- 32:51but I've seen what he can do. I remember, I mean the team won
- 32:54the league last year, had Chicken on their team and he
- 32:56went off at the end of last season or multiple months.
- 32:59So I I know he has that in his bag like with anything when he
- 33:01has the mind if I. Play I like him a lot without
- 33:05power. Play one.
- 33:05I'm not a fan at all, but now he's got.
- 33:06It it's also like Washington last year was all systems go
- 33:10over, you was chasing the record.
- 33:11Now OV sucks and Washington there's less points to go around
- 33:14the fields like so. I know saying this, but if only
- 33:16someone could have seen this coming.
- 33:18I've never dropped it over, so yeah, putting that out there.
- 33:22It was great last year. The one year where you broke the
- 33:25record and they worked so. Yeah, it was.
- 33:27You know, there was nothing there saying he's gonna be
- 33:29chasing the record all year and he's gonna be sick and, and he
- 33:32was right. OK, as much as I want to keep
- 33:35the compliments going, I do have a question.
- 33:37Yes, I didn't. Raise my hand, apologies.
- 33:38But anyways, Ryan Renard, we don't, we don't think that he
- 33:42can infiltrate power play one at any point.
- 33:45Zero. I don't.
- 33:46It's just so strange to have a right winger, a defenseman
- 33:50playing right wing. Like why?
- 33:52It doesn't, but it's not right wing on the power play.
- 33:55The way it works is way different.
- 33:57It's not right wing, he's just one of the flank slots where you
- 33:59can take a shot. Exactly.
- 34:01And defences usually got cannon some of them.
- 34:04Do also, I know you may be too young to remember this, but back
- 34:08in my day there were two defensemen on every power play
- 34:10unit, you know? So I don't remember that, I
- 34:12don't think. Pepperidge Farm remembers, Yeah.
- 34:14Exactly. But.
- 34:17Yeah, I don't think that crazy. I think the next guy up is
- 34:20McMichael over Leonard anyway, so I don't see Leonard getting
- 34:22it. The best Connor Mick in the.
- 34:24Game Yeah, alright, alright, Kevin, do some yeah, would you
- 34:27Rathers our favorite. Boy, alright, don't beg, don't
- 34:31peek. I thought Jackie just peaked.
- 34:32I saw his cursor in Google Docs. You fool.
- 34:36You think I could, man? Anyways, alright, get your
- 34:40comparison apps ready because I'm about to.
- 34:43What are you writing? OK, alright.
- 34:48I don't know who that player is. Alright.
- 34:52So this segment is the best segment in all of Menger
- 34:55management. All the segments of all the
- 34:57segments. Ever across all podcasts, the
- 35:00Bangor management Would You Rather segment is the best
- 35:02because we look at one guy against another one for every
- 35:06position. Centres, left wing, right wings,
- 35:08defensemen, goalies. And we're going to make you
- 35:11think, and I'm going to try to split the difference between
- 35:14Jackie and Josh and see if I can get them to.
- 35:18Kevin honestly, yeah, China, see if he can split us.
- 35:22It's not always easy, let me tell you.
- 35:23I can make it difficult on myself.
- 35:25But all right, let's get started with #1 the centre position.
- 35:31Would you rather Sebastian Aho or Nico Hesher?
- 35:38I mean, I don't even need to look at the stats.
- 35:40I have my my preference right off the bat and.
- 35:42That's already know issue no? Question.
- 35:45Yeah, I mean, look, obviously there's the the Carolina stink,
- 35:50but I think both have been underperforming.
- 35:53And I mean, who do I trust more to perform better?
- 35:58Definitely he sure. I think the power play is just
- 36:01such an insane difference. New Jersey is one of the top
- 36:04power plays in the league and Caroline is one of the worst
- 36:06power plays in the league and he just got consistent linemates.
- 36:10It's going to be Meyer and Mercer, which are very solid.
- 36:12I know it's not Brad and Hughes, but you know, we'll have to make
- 36:15do with some other very solid, even strength line mates.
- 36:17And then he gets to play with those guys on power play 1.
- 36:19To me, it's a no brainer. Whereas Aho can't even get
- 36:22Jarvis to stick on his wing without Rod being like, you know
- 36:25what, Jarvis, even starting the season 2, well, we're gonna put
- 36:27you on line 3. So yeah, no, easy.
- 36:29He's here for me. Even even with I just want to
- 36:33throw this out there before Jake makes his decision, but holds
- 36:35the point per game currently this season.
- 36:37Yeah, it might be. It might not feel that way
- 36:38because it's been sold tumultuous, but he sure has has
- 36:44not been a point per game. And even though the power play
- 36:46is clicking more for New Jersey than it is for for Carolina,
- 36:49like even last year, he should put up more power play points,
- 36:52average more power play points than Aho and Aho finished with
- 36:54more points, average more points.
- 36:57So if the power play does do better in the near future, I can
- 37:02see the ceiling staying higher for AHO.
- 37:04I think it's really close. I think AHA has better category
- 37:07coverage. It doesn't have the I think you
- 37:09have several points, but he doesn't have the face off when
- 37:11seeing that he should does. Yeah, I just think in face off
- 37:15when links especially he shares one of the elite, elite centres.
- 37:18But take face off wins out of it.
- 37:19Who are you taking cause not most leagues don't have face off
- 37:24wins so I feel. Like power play points, every
- 37:26league has power play points. Yes.
- 37:28So I'm taking Heather still. I think that's actually the
- 37:32difference maker for me that in faceoff win leagues I would take
- 37:36hesher splitting feathers though it's so close and then in non
- 37:39faceoffs I would take. Because we're these would you
- 37:43rather some talking non face off?
- 37:46Because everybody that's listening, most of them don't
- 37:48play in face off win leagues. Yeah, alright, cool.
- 37:50So you did it. You split it.
- 37:51Yeah. So if you think about it, the
- 37:56only person who's a staple on the line, one on Carolina is
- 38:01Idaho. And it doesn't really.
- 38:03Gonna be like a line for it. No, that's never a thing.
- 38:07Like everyone else gets shuffled and it doesn't really matter
- 38:10what line 1 is because, you know, line 3 right now has
- 38:13Jarvis and I'm pretty sure they're gonna have a lot of
- 38:15minutes, or at least he will. So it's crazy.
- 38:19It's a disaster. We've spoken about the woes of
- 38:23owning players on a Rod team. That being said, who's such a
- 38:27good player in his own right that I think he's the safest
- 38:31asset there. So I'm just going to pick him.
- 38:34But it's very close. I just think that it's a little
- 38:37bit more reliable to get more points and more shots on goal
- 38:41with Aho, but very slightly. I think I'm going Aho as well.
- 38:47Wow, I know brutal, but honestly, it's it's so ask me
- 38:51tomorrow and I'll probably say he sure like I I also love he
- 38:54sure. He's one of my favorite centres.
- 38:55Like again tomorrow so. OK, OK, perfect.
- 38:58Yeah, that one was like sad. Like it was so difficult and so,
- 39:03so close that I mean, it was good, but I don't feel happy,
- 39:06right? Now, and I think this next one,
- 39:08though, I think people listening to this also will can get a lot
- 39:12from that first question, because I think Aho and Hisher,
- 39:15they've been good. You look at the stats, but if
- 39:18you own them both, people like you've been disappointed if.
- 39:20You streaky? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:22Like we saw people trying to in the Discord trying to get
- 39:25feature off their roster because they're kind of like, not happy
- 39:28with the production currently, yeah.
- 39:30You're starting with your best too, that I think you've had all
- 39:33year. Honestly really excited for
- 39:34this. Has a pretty good ones last
- 39:36year. Let's get what's coming.
- 39:38All right. This one is, I guess, spicy
- 39:41because we're talking about one of the hottest players to start
- 39:45this year, and I think he blew everybody away.
- 39:48I don't think anybody was expecting this level of
- 39:50production. I just know this is gonna be 1
- 39:52of Kevin's. Players, there's not.
- 39:54I wish maybe, but would you rather of the Anaheim Ducks,
- 39:59Cutter Gautier or Matthew Nyes? Well, that's a really good one.
- 40:06We were high on Matthew Knight going into this year with, you
- 40:08know, tied to Matthews. He has the Bangor profile where
- 40:12he's hitting a lot and he has been hitting a lot.
- 40:14Yeah. Exposed to elite talent Cutter
- 40:17Gotti, I think we were kind of like low on him this year,
- 40:20right? I wanted my take was I wanna see
- 40:22it before I believe it with Cutter and I'm seeing it right
- 40:25now, right? So you have to kind of change
- 40:27your perspective. Yeah.
- 40:30I mean, I went from, I feel like one of the guys that was super
- 40:32not in on cutter until like one of the guys that I'm one of the
- 40:36guys the type of person that I'm really in on him now.
- 40:40And one of the guys that it's funny.
- 40:45Anyways, I think that I really like both these players.
- 40:48We were high on nice before the season started and I think we
- 40:51were dead on. Like we were absolutely right
- 40:52that he's killing it and then go to it.
- 40:54Like you said, I didn't have him on my radar as doing this well.
- 40:58I thought he would be a bit more buried in the lineup than he is.
- 41:00I think he got a bit lucky with some timely injuries that helped
- 41:03his already flourishing breakout breakout even more.
- 41:06The shots on goal to me is just absolutely absurd.
- 41:09Despite all that, I think I still got to go.
- 41:11Noise. I think noise.
- 41:13The fact is that Dakota is like 1 .1 points per game, like 4.7
- 41:17shots and a hit which is just. On the season, that's not like a
- 41:21recent production, that's like on the season.
- 41:23But then noise is like 1.2 points per game, 2.2 shots and
- 41:272.5 hits which is also insane. Double.
- 41:29Double. Exactly.
- 41:31And I just think that noise is deployment other deployments.
- 41:35He got great nice, got bumped down to PB2.
- 41:37Like that's in the realm of outcomes, now that we know.
- 41:39That but then he immediately got bumped up back up.
- 41:42So it's definitely something to consider.
- 41:44Also, Anaheim has a bunch of injuries.
- 41:46Will be interesting to see how things shake out with the Goatee
- 41:49once they come back either. These are both guys I'm super
- 41:51excited about, but I'm gonna go with Nice because I like his
- 41:54bangers a bit more and I just think that as great as good as
- 41:57shooting has been, I just don't. See, it's been insane.
- 42:00I don't see I could possibly maintain a 4.7 shots on goal per
- 42:03game. He's also like the type of
- 42:04player that he's young enough that we don't actually know what
- 42:07his true production should look like, right?
- 42:08So he's kind of finding his groove in that way, yeah.
- 42:12I mean. Yeah, fair enough.
- 42:14But nice has been the line up more often, where Cutter is
- 42:16like, this is his first year, like cemented in the lineup and
- 42:19yeah, he's getting a chance to play.
- 42:21Look if the question. Is you can average five shots by
- 42:24accident. For sure, no, I don't think it's
- 42:26a fluke or anything like that. If you're asking who's the
- 42:28better draft value, I mean go to I'm sure got drafted like 10
- 42:31rounds later. Than 9 might not even have
- 42:34gotten drafted in most of your. Life, yeah, he's definitely more
- 42:36value for the draft spot. I still think Nice has the edge
- 42:39over him, but I think it's super close.
- 42:42Yeah, I mean, you know, Gautier had tons of hype coming into the
- 42:45league. He was drafted this Lefkofsky
- 42:47year, which I don't know if we're going to be calling it
- 42:50that for much longer after after seeing his new production this
- 42:55year. I mean, he's amazing.
- 42:57And the other thing is that he's a goal scorer, so the shots
- 43:00aren't really surprising. And that's like the one
- 43:01encouraging thing to see that it may not that the goals would
- 43:06necessarily be so elite, but that the shots are going to be
- 43:08kept up. Right.
- 43:09Yeah. Because right now he's seven
- 43:11goals, 5 assists at the time of this recording, whereas noise is
- 43:154:00 and 12:00. So I mean, they're both.
- 43:19Matthews Matthews goal score, so that adds up.
- 43:21Yeah, they're both super good. The thing is that when it's all
- 43:26said and done at the end of the year, I expect them to be
- 43:28similar points and go take to get almost twice as many shots
- 43:32as nice. The hits are gonna be closer
- 43:35than I would say the shots are relative to the category.
- 43:41I'd say now is going to be 2.25 something like that and go to
- 43:46it's going to be like 1, maybe 1.2.
- 43:49So that's great. I mean, you're happy with the
- 43:51Bobcats for either. When it comes down to it though,
- 43:54I'm going to go noise, which I hate to do because God is going
- 43:58to be more fun. And the reason is because it's
- 44:00gonna come in streaks with Gozier.
- 44:01So there will be weeks where you going to hold them or it's going
- 44:03to be like nothing. I think with Anaheim coming back
- 44:06and being a good team and we'll see the line shuffling etc.
- 44:10Plus young players are streaky so it is what it is.
- 44:13And then noise is going to be stapled to Matthews or to Virus
- 44:16and power play 1 all year. So even though let's say they
- 44:20both get around 80 points this year, which would be amazing and
- 44:24the back categories are a little bit more outstanding.
- 44:27Slush fund for Gautier. Why I'm choosing now is because
- 44:30those 80 points are going to come like once every two games
- 44:35he will get one or two points, whereas for Goodyear it's going
- 44:38to be like 3 points in a game and then no points over three to
- 44:42four games type thing. That's the way I see it shaking
- 44:46out. Yeah, I'm also going nice since
- 44:51nobody asked. But no, I just, I just think
- 44:55that I like the floor of the double double.
- 44:58I feel like that's a guarantee. It feels like Yeah and.
- 45:01Something like go to your shots like they're unreal and I don't
- 45:04think it's gonna stop shooting, but 4.7 is just unsustainable
- 45:06for anyone. Even like McKinnon doesn't shoot
- 45:094.7. Or he can hover, I think go take
- 45:12in the season. Not like a 3.5 or 3.8 type of
- 45:15thing. Yeah.
- 45:16And that's also enough to be like an extreme value.
- 45:19I do think right now for looking at his game log and looking in
- 45:21the stats that sell high, absolutely.
- 45:24I do not think he ends the season.
- 45:25As a point per game they can return honestly.
- 45:27Absolutely. For sure, for sure.
- 45:29I mean you could be tempted to trade for like a Panera and I
- 45:34feel like is the buy low right now.
- 45:35Everybody wants to buy Panarin and the Panarin owners,
- 45:38everybody wants to sell Panera. So I feel like it's a match
- 45:39didn't have. Everybody wants to buy and
- 45:41everybody wants to. Sell.
- 45:42So I don't like that one. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 45:46Anyways, next one talk about right wingers here.
- 45:48So whole Cofield or Jason Robertson?
- 45:54This one's. I didn't want to put Jason
- 45:56Roberts in here. I wanted to find a different.
- 45:58I wanted to find a different name.
- 45:59But I feel like I used him somewhat often by someone often.
- 46:02I feel like I've used them already once this season but.
- 46:06OK, let's see what's going on with these guys.
- 46:09Taking I'm going to go with go with Caulfield here.
- 46:13So firstly, I actually think Caulfield to sell high, which
- 46:16pains me to say as a Habs fan, but he's just been so crazy good
- 46:22that it's just ridiculous. That being said, even if he is a
- 46:25sell high, it's because I think you get something like better
- 46:28than Robertson and Robertson. We know this with Dallas,
- 46:32they're a little bit all over the place with their lines etc.
- 46:36And they've both been, as we said, Robertson is sort of
- 46:40surprised to the upside. But I just think that ball field
- 46:43ceiling this year is is much more elite.
- 46:48He's gonna like he's gonna be that guy to be in a position all
- 46:52the time and overtime, which apparently the haves loved
- 46:54playing in, which distressful yet yet great for fantasy
- 46:59because it's more time on ice. He's gonna have the most shots
- 47:02on the team. And you know what?
- 47:03More than anything, I don't think that Robertson's, and I
- 47:07can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Robertson is playing
- 47:09with a playmaker as good as Suzuki.
- 47:11And I know ratings. Elite Suzuki, Suzuki.
- 47:14Suzuki is the most points in the NHL, most points in the NHL
- 47:18since the Four Nations face off. Do you realize that?
- 47:22That's nuts. Like he's so, so elite and he's
- 47:25feeding the puck to Caulfield for goals.
- 47:28So I'm gonna have to go with Caulfield here.
- 47:31Yeah, I'm trying to take out the homerism and trying to take out
- 47:35the Kevins nudism. But despite all that, I still
- 47:39think I gotta go with Cofield. Look, I looked at their two
- 47:43averages and Cofield over a point per game right now with .4
- 47:46power play points. Robertson's at like .85 points
- 47:49per game with also like .38 power play points.
- 47:52Points when you look at the .4 and then you look at the shots,
- 47:55Robertson had like 4.3 shots and Coffee is only like 2.9.
- 47:58And if you, if I was convinced I was gonna stay, I would go with
- 48:02Robertson. But I just have don't think
- 48:05there's any chance Robertson keeps shooting at this.
- 48:07I'd say he could end up let's say 3.5 and you're super happy
- 48:10with it. And in the same vein, I think
- 48:12Cofield should be shooting more than he is right now.
- 48:14I think he should end with over 3.
- 48:16So let's say their shots are end up much closer than they are
- 48:18right now. I trust Cofield to get more
- 48:20points in power play points. And it's like we saw with the
- 48:23lineup where Cofield stapled line one, power play one.
- 48:26There's no chance that that's getting changed.
- 48:29Whereas Robertson recently they put Robertson, Johnston and
- 48:32Ranton as line one. We'll see how long that takes.
- 48:35It could be for like a game, it could be for a week, but it's
- 48:37not going to be long term, especially once Hints comes back
- 48:39and wants to Shane comes back. So it's all gonna get shuffled
- 48:42for the most part. Robertson was playing with
- 48:44Johnston on line 2/3, whatever you consider it.
- 48:47But it's one of those things we mentioned a ton of times with
- 48:48Dallas just having so many good lines that they don't need to
- 48:51pack the top line with as much ice time.
- 48:54Anyways, I'm going Cofield for all those reasons.
- 48:58I'm also going Cofield. I wanted to raise the question
- 49:01though, because. Fans all chose.
- 49:02Cofield, surprise, surprise, but we we're used to seeing Roberts
- 49:07and kind of hover around just slightly over two shots per
- 49:09game. I feel like in recent years
- 49:10that's kind of been where he's at.
- 49:12So the fact that he's at 44, we're almost 5 weeks into the
- 49:15season at this point. So you kind of want to try to
- 49:18get a sense of like what the actual metric is going to be
- 49:20this year for him. And I mean, I'm a Robertson
- 49:23hater, you know that. But he's definitely been better
- 49:25than I anticipated. I did not expect this kind of
- 49:27production this season, but the fact that he's not only at half
- 49:31his points are the power play, that's not sustainable.
- 49:33So if the power play slows down, I expect this 535 production to
- 49:37stay around the same. For the moment, I'm going coffee
- 49:40list think the foundation is set and what we're getting now is
- 49:43this floor and I think he can get like a point per game
- 49:46whereas Roberts and I feel like you'll be more tough for him to
- 49:49get there so. Yeah, that's and you know the
- 49:51goals are insane, right? Like 10 goals in 12 games.
- 49:55Yeah, that's not sustainable either.
- 49:58Yeah, that's not the floor, but I.
- 50:01Think the most goals in OT ever. Like that's how it feels like to
- 50:05go to like alright, cold Cofield goal money, literally.
- 50:09I was annoyed when New Hook scored that goal like you're
- 50:11supposed to save it for. Coffee.
- 50:12Yeah, exactly. This is the script.
- 50:16Yeah, OK, I think, yeah. Yeah.
- 50:19All right. Next one.
- 50:20Talk about defensemen. This ones for Jakey.
- 50:23Would you rather Mikhail Sergachev or Matthew Schaefer?
- 50:28The current called her favorite question mark.
- 50:31He's got to win the Calder. I loved it off.
- 50:33But there's just, I mean, obviously it's.
- 50:35Still think it's a race, but Schaefer right now, if you had
- 50:37to vote right now, probably safer.
- 50:39If you have to vote right now, I'd expect Shafer to get every
- 50:41single first place vote. Yeah.
- 50:43I think that's right now, but there's all.
- 50:45Season ahead, I think you go first because he's more.
- 50:50More yeah, because he has Sergeyev.
- 50:53So I maintain that Shavers is still high and like he was, he
- 50:59was my choice a few weeks ago. That being said, when it comes
- 51:04down to it, I think that what you're seeing out of him is
- 51:06like, it's way better production on a horrible team relative.
- 51:12Shots are just. Doing are nice.
- 51:15They are. I mean, Sergachev is honestly
- 51:17such a good defenseman on a good team, but the surrounding cast
- 51:22leads me to believe that. It's almost like when you have a
- 51:26good player on a bad team, this is less good player on a better
- 51:29team. You usually for offensive
- 51:32players, I would say it's 5050, what you're gonna be happy with.
- 51:35But like Philip Forsberg, for instance, you know, good player,
- 51:38bad team, everything runs through him.
- 51:40For defensemen, you usually need the surrounding CAS, but somehow
- 51:43Schaefer is like defying the odds and making it like just
- 51:47putting out absolutely insane production even by himself.
- 51:50So The thing is, is that it leads me to believe that it's
- 51:54not sustainable. Nevertheless, Sergachev just
- 51:58doesn't shoot that much. And I think that when it's when
- 52:02it comes down to it, I'm happier having like the floor, if you
- 52:06will of Schaefers production, even though it's gonna be
- 52:09inconsistent. So I'm going to give this edge
- 52:11to Shafer very, very slightly. Don't expect it to continue.
- 52:16The last 14 days average is at .71 with three shots in 1.14.
- 52:21That's more reasonable that his season average which is .83 with
- 52:27also three shots. So I'm expecting it to be in the
- 52:29.75 ish. But considering the shot
- 52:31discrepancy, which I think will continue, I'm happier with
- 52:35Shafer I think. I'm going to go with Sergachev
- 52:38on this one. I'll take that as a compliment
- 52:41because it's on my team, but. Yeah, no, I just think that
- 52:45there's no way in my mind that Schaefer ends with more points
- 52:48than Sergachev. Just look at that.
- 52:50You guys know I'm super high on Utah and they're proving me
- 52:52right. And just that power play is
- 52:54unreal. That entire top 6 is unreal.
- 52:57Sergachev is the pretty much only offensive defenseman on
- 53:00that team, at least when jerseys injured.
- 53:02And even with Jersey back, it's not like it's remotely close.
- 53:05So I think points wise, power play, points wise, easily
- 53:08Sergachev shots. I think Schaefer has the edge
- 53:11that three shots on goal average.
- 53:13He had one shot game. That's not gonna you know that
- 53:15definitely skews it when there's been so few games left.
- 53:17I'd be surprised if he ends with more than 2.5 shots per game.
- 53:21Circuit events at like 1.8. So it's like a .7 shot
- 53:23difference, not the end of the world.
- 53:25And then circuit blocks more on either one of them hit so much.
- 53:27So I think the points in power play points and circuit gets
- 53:31more pins if you're accounts that.
- 53:32So for me, I'm going. I'm realizing that I
- 53:35contradicted my he was a target Mikhail Sergachev, so I feel a
- 53:41little bad about that, but at this point I think because of
- 53:44the height you can get. Better the Shaffer owner and
- 53:46tell him to send you that trade. Yeah, I don't even know.
- 53:49I mean, it's like I just feel like at this point, like because
- 53:53of the production has continued, you can even aim higher than
- 53:55circuit chip. I also have Victor Hedman and
- 53:58more cider there. I also have Mackenzie Weeger,
- 54:00but I think that ship has kind of sailed.
- 54:03But yeah, I mean, look, to me, Shafer still sell high because
- 54:08he's young. And Hudson did this last year in
- 54:1220. He's 18 Schaefer.
- 54:14I mean, most people who are 18 are not playing in the NHL, let
- 54:19alone producing at this level. But I still think that they want
- 54:23him to succeed. They're gonna give him humongous
- 54:24minutes. So that's why I think at this
- 54:27point, there's a little bit of an edge to Shafer, but it's so
- 54:30close. Real feather splitter today,
- 54:32Kevin. What are you going with?
- 54:36I mean it's pretty close for me because I do like the foundation
- 54:39of that Shaper brings with the shots for your fantasy team and
- 54:42from a defenseman also, that's really nice.
- 54:43But I'm also going to Circuit Chef just because I think the
- 54:47deployment, first of all is set. He's playing with better talent
- 54:51around him. But I can see Sir Chef ending
- 54:53this season with like .8 points per game and Schafer ending at
- 54:56like .7, Shafer getting like 2.5 shots, Circuit Chef getting like
- 55:011.8. But the power play, I expect it
- 55:03to be different at the end of the season as well, like which
- 55:05could and would .4 I would not be shocked.
- 55:07Schaefer, I'd probably be shocked if he ends up with .4.
- 55:10Like I see that more as like a .25 kind of situation for me.
- 55:14So I'm going circuit chip. But right now the production is
- 55:17honestly like undeniable from Schaefer and we'll see if we can
- 55:20keep it up. Like it's hard to keep that up
- 55:21for a whole season from a defence team, let alone a
- 55:23rookie. So it's definitely worth raising
- 55:26the question. I think right now you can make
- 55:27that swap too if you have one or the other.
- 55:29So all right, let's touch on this last one, the goalie
- 55:32position. This is I don't want to shoot
- 55:35myself in the foot, but this was my least citing one I think I
- 55:37put on there. I want to touch on some goalies
- 55:39that are not super high all necessarily or like super talked
- 55:42about. So hopefully this is helpful to
- 55:44the viewers and the listeners, But I'm asking the question,
- 55:48would you rather Yakub Dobesh or Jeremy Swagman rest of season?
- 55:55Wow. This is an easy one.
- 55:57For me it's. Because it's the opposite one.
- 56:02Go 1st. I'm going swimming for sure.
- 56:05You're crazy and. I mean.
- 56:08Like they're literally playing Montana tonight.
- 56:11Swamin has zero competition for the starting job.
- 56:14That's not true. Corporate Salo was actually not
- 56:17awful in his starts and they even asked the question like can
- 56:20you see corporate getting some run?
- 56:22Here, said Nah. So there.
- 56:25You go, they raised the question.
- 56:26It means it was worth raising so.
- 56:28OK. Let's say Corpus all is a 5%
- 56:30risk at taking the starting job, and I'd say Montegos up like 70%
- 56:36risk of taking the starter job. So I think that I'd rather have
- 56:40the goalie who's gonna play more games and get me more volume.
- 56:44At the end of the day, it's kind of similar we had mentioned
- 56:46earlier with the Carolina goalies, right?
- 56:47Do you want a goalie who's gonna play half the games, maybe less,
- 56:51and he's gonna put up 6 stats in those games?
- 56:53Do you want to go he's gonna play twice as many games but on
- 56:56a much worse team? I always prefer going to the
- 56:59volume because even a goalie on a good team could put up a
- 57:01stinker 1 now and then. If that's the only game of the
- 57:03week they're getting for you then it really screws you over.
- 57:06Whereas with volume you can make up for a bad game over the
- 57:09course of like many saves or time or many periods.
- 57:12Yeah, so anyways, I'm going swam in even though the haves are way
- 57:15better than Boston. Yeah, it's just the the reason
- 57:18I'm going Dobesh is because I don't think Montavon's staple
- 57:21there Like they want look, they they're giving it to him because
- 57:24they want him to be the starting goalie.
- 57:26And he won his last game, but barely.
- 57:28Double has been an absolute. Monster.
- 57:30They want to be the starter then.
- 57:32The goal? Yeah.
- 57:32Yeah, I I hear you. Outperform every step of the
- 57:35way. Yeah, but also there's something
- 57:37to be said about. Every step of the way.
- 57:39There's something to be said about earning your playing time
- 57:42to monties playing tonight, right?
- 57:44Let's say they lose and he gets doesn't put up a good
- 57:47performance. I want to get wrecked but or
- 57:49they win despite his bad performance.
- 57:52Are they going to go for him again when Dobesh is putting
- 57:55nine 50s? I just don't see a world like, I
- 57:59think Martha would have to play really awful and Dobesh would
- 58:02have to keep up these numbers, which is impossible.
- 58:04I love him, but he's talking about 950 and 100% win
- 58:07percentage the whole season. OK.
- 58:09So I think it's gonna be a lot closer.
- 58:11And I think that if it's close, they're gonna lean with Montana
- 58:14over Dobish. But like, Multiple does not have
- 58:18some sort of amazing, impressive contract that they need to play
- 58:21in. Like, you can't justify putting
- 58:23an $8 million goalie on the bench, you know, if Quick is out
- 58:26playing the way I see they're playing.
- 58:28Shurkin, yeah. In the playoffs last year,
- 58:31Montana was amazing and then Dobish came in and did not play
- 58:33that well and I think when a team is.
- 58:35Performing is also young, though.
- 58:37For sure, yeah. But I think when a team is
- 58:39performing as well as the Habs are, or just when you have a
- 58:42team with leadership who has a good vision for the future, is
- 58:46not thinking the term. They have to be thinking going
- 58:48into the playoffs, who do we want to be our starting goalie?
- 58:50And I think right now they want they're starting goalie to be
- 58:53Montalvo. And if that's the case, you have
- 58:54to give them Games over. The course, there's a difference
- 58:56between who we want to be the starting going, who deserves to
- 58:59be the starting goalie. Yeah, but I think.
- 59:01It's definitely worth mentioning.
- 59:02Opportunity. I think Dobesh could win it, but
- 59:05Dobesh has an uphill battle or a swinging has no competition.
- 59:08But then when Swamin plays, they're gonna lose and he's
- 59:12going to have horrible rate stats.
- 59:15Barely. I mean, he's off to a rough
- 59:17start, but he also started off really strong.
- 59:19Then you know, now is on like a bad streak, but he takes a
- 59:22couple of good games and his averages get evened.
- 59:24Out as low as I am on Lindhome for fantasy and as great as
- 59:29Marat's about to be. TM for sure. 100% guaranteed.
- 59:32Definitely not. I think that it's really likely.
- 59:37Winner on their team. Yeah, no, he's OK, obviously.
- 59:41Pasternak. Amazing.
- 59:44So that is very funny, though. Obviously, like Boston's gonna
- 59:48win a game here and there, but I think that with, you know, 70%
- 59:54of the starts, like Dobesh versus Swamin, I think Dobesh is
- 59:58gonna end up with more wins. Look, if you ask me who has the
- 1:00:02higher ceiling, I'd go with Dobesh, because if he can't
- 1:00:04steal that starting job, I'd much rather have the starter on
- 1:00:06the haves than on Bruins. I'm just skeptical.
- 1:00:09Would you rather have Dobesh? If he's guaranteed 50% of the
- 1:00:12starts, he only gets 50%. It I mean I generally prefer
- 1:00:19having a volume guy who puts up worse stats or worse raised
- 1:00:22stats than a tandem guy who's on a better team.
- 1:00:25That's just my preference and how I build my team.
- 1:00:27But it really depends on your goalie, cats and who your second
- 1:00:31goal you're pairing him with. What if you get penalized for
- 1:00:34losses which. Is pretty changes things a lot.
- 1:00:37If you get penalized for losses, I'll give you Dobish.
- 1:00:39OK, OK, but you're starting your fantasy league.
- 1:00:43You have the pick one between the two, I'm telling you get 50%
- 1:00:47of the starts. So aim is getting 80% of the
- 1:00:49starts, Yeah. Who are you starting your
- 1:00:51fantasy team with? I prefer a guy who's going to
- 1:00:55get more starts. I just hate rostering a guy
- 1:00:57who's gonna play one game in a week.
- 1:01:00He could play 2 some weeks. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:01:03But like some weeks he's going to play one, every second week
- 1:01:07he'll probably play 1. Game, but it'll be a really good
- 1:01:08one. You don't even know that though.
- 1:01:10Even the best bullies drinkers if that's the if it's on one
- 1:01:14game week for him and he puts a bad game then he just only did
- 1:01:16negatives for. You alright?
- 1:01:17I'll wrap up this conversation, I think.
- 1:01:19You've been in America too long. My my take is in the short term
- 1:01:26I'd rather do best in the long term I I'd rather swim in just
- 1:01:29because I do think women ends up getting more starts.
- 1:01:33But I I honestly am very optimistic about Dobesh just
- 1:01:36because how I'm seeing the situation right now is that they
- 1:01:39want Monty to be the starter to coach keeps talking about Monty
- 1:01:42being the starter but Dobesh is playing like the starter and at
- 1:01:47some point you gotta give it to the guy deserves it.
- 1:01:49I think Saint Louis is also like he's a players guide too right?
- 1:01:52Like if Dobesh is not losing games, how do you just not play
- 1:01:56him right? 100%.
- 1:01:57Do I think Dobesh can be? Exactly.
- 1:02:00Do I think Dobesh is never gonna lose the game this season?
- 1:02:02No. Yes, I hope so as I have, but I
- 1:02:08I think we have to be also realistic about the situation
- 1:02:11and there's a lot of context that goes into it.
- 1:02:13I don't think Monty will be this bad for for long periods of
- 1:02:16time, but I think Dobesh may actually be a quality goalie
- 1:02:19that forces them into more of a split playing time, which may be
- 1:02:23bad for fantasy, better for the Habs that have two quality
- 1:02:27goalies that can play. But we know that swam in I think
- 1:02:30is going to get the bulk of the starts.
- 1:02:31He was paid also recently. So it's just Boston is not going
- 1:02:35to be good. Latina's going to be competing
- 1:02:37this year. So Swamin Dobish and half half.
- 1:02:41Yes, exactly split. The middle.
- 1:02:44Now it's up to the viewers to decide.
