- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. So I want to tell you a little
- 0:32story about my cat Belle. Now you see, Belle was not a cat
- 0:37that I chose to have in the sense of I I wanted a cat and I
- 0:41went out and picked out a cat. Belle is a cat that my daughter
- 0:44had and my daughter started dating a a young man who's now
- 0:49her husband and many years ago and they had a dog.
- 0:54He had a dog and they could not get along.
- 0:57And as it turns out, my cat was passing away at the same time
- 1:02that Belle was in her life, and she looked very much like her.
- 1:06So one fateful day I decided to take Belle.
- 1:11And Belle is now my cat. And I've always, when I say
- 1:17always, my entire life, I do not remember living without a cat.
- 1:23Just always had cats from the time I was little till now.
- 1:29I, I literally never went to an apartment and didn't have a cat
- 1:33or didn't have two cats, always had cats.
- 1:37Anyway, so we noticed recently that Belle has been having
- 1:41trouble and she seemed like she was, had had a hairball.
- 1:45So we're doing hairball medicine.
- 1:47She wouldn't take it. It was this whole thing and then
- 1:49she was throwing up. And then the other day I noticed
- 1:52I said, OK, I'm going to take her to the vet and she doesn't
- 1:55like car rides. So that we have an emergency vet
- 1:57that's very nice. It's privately owned, which I
- 1:59love. It's not a chain or anything.
- 2:01It's just run by these two wonderful women.
- 2:03And it's like less than 6 minutes from the house.
- 2:06So I was like, OK, let's go. So we take her to the vet and
- 2:10and they can't determine, they believe she has a, a hairball, a
- 2:13large hairball that's not coming out.
- 2:15But they said she was dehydrated.
- 2:17But everything else was perfect. All of her blood work was
- 2:20perfect. Everything was perfect.
- 2:21So they were suggesting all these things that we could do
- 2:24and we could, you know, have a scope, but they couldn't do it
- 2:27where they were. You have to send her to this
- 2:29specialty place. So the saga with Belle is going
- 2:32to continue this week coming up where I have to call her regular
- 2:35vet, talk to him about what the situation is, seeing if he can
- 2:40do the scope. We're going to heavily try to
- 2:43get her to move it on her own by giving her using a syringe to
- 2:48give her hairball medicine and whatnot.
- 2:51But now, mind you, I'm at the emergency vet and I sat there in
- 2:56the morning. I was the very first one there,
- 2:58of course, because you know, that's how I am.
- 3:00And once she got in, I, I was OK.
- 3:04I, I had to wait while they were doing all the stuff till the
- 3:06conclusions came out. So I was there for a good 45
- 3:09minutes to an hour, sitting on the bench waiting.
- 3:12And all these people are coming in person after person, person
- 3:17after person. Here I am sitting on the bench
- 3:20reading on my phone, Thank goodness for Kindle.
- 3:22And you know, I, I don't doom scroll.
- 3:25I won't just sit and scroll. It doesn't do any good for my
- 3:27head. So I have a Kindle and I, I'm
- 3:30reading while I'm sitting there and person after person, animal
- 3:35lover after animal lover is coming in.
- 3:37And again, emergency vet. So primarily emergency vet.
- 3:41And so everyone is in duress. Everyone's coming in and
- 3:45everyone has an issue, whether it's a small dog, another cat, a
- 3:49big dog, everyone has something going on.
- 3:55The common thing that they all had was how much they loved
- 3:58these animals. The common thing that they all
- 4:01had was this immense fear and you could feel it in the room.
- 4:07Like you walk in the door and you feel it.
- 4:09You can see these people sitting there like, Oh no, what is today
- 4:13going to bring me? Oh no, how much is this going to
- 4:16cost? Oh no, is my animal going to be
- 4:18OK? Can I afford to have my animal
- 4:20be OK? You could feel all of it
- 4:23happening, and maybe I feel it more than others because I live
- 4:28feeling things all the time for my clients and myself, but in a
- 4:32different way, like an interpretive way.
- 4:35But the pressure in that room was palpable.
- 4:38And you could, you could actually see in the air, I can't
- 4:43explain it, but you could see it in the air.
- 4:46The girl working at the desk was so sweet and the place was not.
- 4:52So it was clinical, of course, because it's a vet's office, but
- 4:55she had all these beautiful ferns growing and she had all
- 4:59these ficus growing and she had plants.
- 5:03They had a fish tank, the bubbles.
- 5:05They did everything they could. And I said to her, I really
- 5:08appreciate how you try to make this environment de stressed
- 5:12because you can see everyone's so stressed.
- 5:15And her face lit up, her face just she picked up her head and
- 5:19she said thank you. She's like, that's exactly what
- 5:22we try to do. Both the doctors try to make
- 5:25sure that everyone knows that we want to take care of everybody.
- 5:29And we know this is painful. We know this is hard.
- 5:32And it was such a reinforcement of environment, such a
- 5:36reinforcement of people are trying all around us.
- 5:40So remember, when you are in this state where you have this
- 5:45stuff, just pause and look around.
- 5:46Because what helped me break my fear was looking around and
- 5:50noticing all this stuff, noticing what what they were
- 5:52doing, seeing how they were trying to do it.
- 5:55And the saga with Belle will continue this week.
- 5:58We'll see where it will go. She's being very well cared for
- 6:02here at home now. She's happy this morning sitting
- 6:05on the porch watching the birds. So we will see how it goes.
- 6:08But you know me and my animals very tight, very attached.
- 6:13So we will see how this goes and I will keep you all posted.
- 6:17But remember, when you're having that kind of emotion, stop and
- 6:20pause and look around because there may just be some great
- 6:24stuff outside of the moment that you're feeling inside, and the
- 6:28outside might help you. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:31you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 6:33Bye.
