- 0:00Speaker 1: John, Welcome to busting with the boys. As I was
- 0:02Speaker 1: sitting down, you had some very choice I was just
- 0:04Speaker 1: coming out of nowhere. You were ranking Texas running what
- 0:07Speaker 1: he said, he said, better than any running back that's
- 0:09Speaker 1: came out of Michigan. He said, Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell
- 0:12Speaker 1: himself better than any running by this came into Michigan.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Okay, Ricky Williams the goat smoking.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but Earl Campbell really good ball player. And you've
- 0:22Speaker 1: had one year in the league. But I mean, we
- 0:24Speaker 1: got to But we're talking.
- 0:25Speaker 3: College I'm biased, but there's been like I mean, you
- 0:30Speaker 3: got you got.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Fifty five touchdowns. But what you say about Blake Krn's touchdowns.
- 0:36Speaker 4: No, I mean no, I mean.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Blake he's one of the best running backs COLLG football history.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I give him that, But there was a lot of
- 0:44Speaker 3: them touchdowns, one.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Of the best college football history.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Respect him heavy, I don't know.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I mean, you saw in the draft this year at
- 0:55Speaker 3: the first running back taking off the board was from Texas.
- 0:59Speaker 4: From Texas, how'd.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Y'all do against Washington? How'd that go?
- 1:05Speaker 1: We handled it for you? The next week, y'all did
- 1:07Speaker 1: y'all did their business? Should win a national championship.
- 1:10Speaker 3: You're right, You're right, but and congratulations, thank you very much.
- 1:13Speaker 3: But yeah, we'll get that one next year.
- 1:16Speaker 4: The coup.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I think I think we're really good, even just us
- 1:20Speaker 3: going to SEC, Like, I think we have like a
- 1:22Speaker 3: really good chance of doing some good stuff.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I mean, even we got everybody coming from the portal.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Like, yeah, you guys in Ohio State, what are they
- 1:29Speaker 2: going to?
- 1:29Speaker 5: Are they going to build the couture? How is it
- 1:30Speaker 5: playing for? How is it playing for? Coach sark Man?
- 1:32Speaker 3: It was so much fun, like just having you know
- 1:35Speaker 3: him as is not necessarily a father figure, but like
- 1:38Speaker 3: an older brother to come and like actually coach me
- 1:40Speaker 3: and just take me in. And what was cool is
- 1:43Speaker 3: like me and sark I was with them for the
- 1:46Speaker 3: rise of what he has now. So you know, with
- 1:49Speaker 3: like those those struggles that we went through, like that
- 1:52Speaker 3: was like what we had to go through. And now
- 1:55Speaker 3: seeing him, you know, be you know, respected around the
- 1:59Speaker 3: whole college football everybody that that knows football, like it's
- 2:02Speaker 3: pretty sick. Ain't gonna lie, but he's definitely the dude
- 2:06Speaker 3: that I respect a lot, especially for like making me
- 2:09Speaker 3: who I am today as a young man.
- 2:11Speaker 4: But I love that dude.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Man, Dude, Texas is such a dope university. We had
- 2:15Speaker 1: the opportunity to go there and check it out.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Where'd y'all go?
- 2:18Speaker 2: We went? We were warning Austin last spring.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yep.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But the uniforms just like how everyone kind of rides
- 2:23Speaker 1: to the Longhorns there, it's a it's a university.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It's crazy and it's cool because like like Texas, like
- 2:28Speaker 3: it's not a it's not a college town, but it
- 2:32Speaker 3: feels like a college town because I bade the campuses
- 2:34Speaker 3: and then you got like downtown like five minutes away.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So I love it so much.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're coming up through high school, like what
- 2:42Speaker 1: what made you choose Texas?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Just just a lot of prayer, bro Like, like you know,
- 2:46Speaker 3: my faith is my big it is my biggest thing.
- 2:48Speaker 3: So I just knew like that's where God wanted me
- 2:49Speaker 3: to go. And I mean what three years later, like
- 2:53Speaker 3: he was right. But it was more so like the
- 2:56Speaker 3: coaches there. I mean, I had like my first running
- 2:58Speaker 3: back coach because Drake and he he was like the
- 3:02Speaker 3: best college running back coach in the country. I mean
- 3:04Speaker 3: he had like Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State, like he
- 3:06Speaker 3: did so many, he had so many guys. So when
- 3:09Speaker 3: I went to him, it was like a no brainer.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And my first year, like it was hard. It was hard,
- 3:14Speaker 3: bro because I had I had COVID, so it was
- 3:16Speaker 3: a COVID year for me. I came in in the summer,
- 3:19Speaker 3: so I didn't have like that spring that spring development.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was.
- 3:25Speaker 3: It was a good time, like just going there and
- 3:27Speaker 3: learning from him at first, and then obviously he got
- 3:29Speaker 3: a head coaching job and then the rest.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Was history because any other school that came close State.
- 3:36Speaker 3: So I hate to hear this, I hate to hear this,
- 3:38Speaker 3: but like so I silently committed to Ohio State for
- 3:41Speaker 3: a week.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Silently committed for the second time we've heard that. I know,
- 3:45Speaker 5: it's like that little yeah for a week.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I'm just letting you know, Yeah, that side girl talk again.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Here, That's what it was. And it was like it
- 3:54Speaker 4: was more so.
- 3:54Speaker 3: It was more so like people and players like in
- 3:57Speaker 3: my ear telling me like you got to go here,
- 3:59Speaker 3: you should go here, like we're gonna build the dynasty here,
- 4:02Speaker 3: They're gonna be amazing, which could have been true, but
- 4:06Speaker 3: I just knew, like, you know, I could I could
- 4:08Speaker 3: really go to Texas for you know, a forty year
- 4:12Speaker 3: decision and like not just football, but I can become
- 4:15Speaker 3: somebody here and always come back here and always like
- 4:18Speaker 3: feel like this is this was always the place for me.
- 4:21Speaker 4: And then I mean that was the main decision.
- 4:23Speaker 3: But yeah for a week, man, And I told the
- 4:25Speaker 3: coaches like that was the hardest conversation in my life.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I was gonna say, how when you decommitted?
- 4:29Speaker 4: How was it was tough?
- 4:30Speaker 3: It was tough because I called I called the coaches
- 4:34Speaker 3: and I was like, hey, look like.
- 4:38Speaker 2: For you right now, immated last Monday.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I committed on Monday. Yeah, now Saturday, and I called them.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I was like, you know, this just isn't the.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Place for me.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Like having to say that to like a grown man
- 4:53Speaker 3: and then him be like what are you talking about?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Like I I sent all my running backs away like
- 4:59Speaker 3: you were only one of was getting only guilt trip.
- 5:02Speaker 4: It was man, it was crazy.
- 5:03Speaker 5: It's got to be a heartbreak whenever that. Yeah, because
- 5:06Speaker 5: he's a fire. I mean he was the man.
- 5:07Speaker 2: He is the man.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah he's continued to stay yeah, man, then they fizzle out,
- 5:11Speaker 1: still staying the man.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I appreciate it. Yeah, Like it was just it was.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It was just tough, like to have that conversation as
- 5:19Speaker 3: a seventeen year old kid.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And then him going the ran. You still just be like,
- 5:23Speaker 2: I know, I'm sorry.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I know.
- 5:24Speaker 3: It was like I was with my family and they're
- 5:27Speaker 3: just like like.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Get him on speakerphone, Yeah, this phone, I know, coach,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, coach.
- 5:39Speaker 4: It was the biggest.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Position coach and knowing like who they've mentored coach, Yes,
- 5:44Speaker 5: what was the big pivotal.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Thing for you?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Was it that it was a position coach because you're
- 5:49Speaker 3: just like you're gonna be with him your whole time,
- 5:52Speaker 3: so I think and he and even just talking to
- 5:54Speaker 3: like other running backs you know before before I got there,
- 5:58Speaker 3: and like Reggie Bush, like his position coach in college
- 6:02Speaker 3: was that was his guy. Like he said, this is
- 6:06Speaker 3: the position coaches was most important because if you don't
- 6:10Speaker 3: agree with him and he doesn't agree with you, then
- 6:12Speaker 3: you're not playing and he doesn't trust you. And then
- 6:16Speaker 3: he's he talks to the head coach like he's the
- 6:18Speaker 3: most important important guy for yourself. So even hearing that,
- 6:23Speaker 3: I was like, all right, so let me like actually
- 6:24Speaker 3: build a relationship. And then the crazy thing is like
- 6:28Speaker 3: nowadays in nil and stuff. Bro, No, No relationships are
- 6:32Speaker 3: being built like and then that's why you see so
- 6:35Speaker 3: many transfers and so many kids going to other places
- 6:38Speaker 3: because they're getting promised one thing and then they're not
- 6:41Speaker 3: producing on the field. So after one year and not
- 6:44Speaker 3: even after one year, after one some like like spring semester,
- 6:49Speaker 3: like they're leaving and I'm like, bro, Like, first of all,
- 6:53Speaker 3: it looks bad in my opinion, but it's like you
- 6:57Speaker 3: should have been building that relationship with the coach and
- 7:00Speaker 3: knowing you can have that trust with him before you
- 7:02Speaker 3: even get there, so you understand that when you're there,
- 7:05Speaker 3: like you know what's gonna come, you know what's about
- 7:07Speaker 3: to happen beforehand. So I think that's kind of where
- 7:10Speaker 3: college football is changing. And I get it, like you
- 7:12Speaker 3: got to make your money and stuff.
- 7:13Speaker 2: No, not thinking too much long term, thinking like what
- 7:15Speaker 2: did I get here? Now? Exactly did you ever get
- 7:18Speaker 2: tempted by some pre in I l in I l.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I never did never no once't say names.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah pre and iol.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I didn't have but I didn't have it. I didn't
- 7:30Speaker 3: have an io when I came. I know, so like
- 7:32Speaker 3: even like the under the table stuff like it just
- 7:36Speaker 3: never came across an don't name names. Did anybody ever
- 7:39Speaker 3: try under the table stuff?
- 7:41Speaker 4: And then they tried.
- 7:42Speaker 3: They tried with my coach, my high school coach, and
- 7:46Speaker 3: he was like, nah, like this isn't who like this
- 7:49Speaker 3: is you got the wrong kid, Like he's not going
- 7:51Speaker 3: to come here off of begging or off of trying
- 7:54Speaker 3: to get him with some money, so that he that
- 7:58Speaker 3: that all got sent away.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Arizona man.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Top five what that's the top five football stay Taylor.
- 8:08Speaker 2: In the country. It is, Come on, are you from
- 8:11Speaker 2: in Arizona.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Tucson, Arizona?
- 8:14Speaker 2: You A give you any interest? Zero?
- 8:18Speaker 4: None? Like you have a you have a a s U.
- 8:21Speaker 2: No a s U over U of a though.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Like you like I feel like if a s.
- 8:27Speaker 3: U was was a consistently really good team, like they
- 8:32Speaker 3: would get everybody.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Because the thing that's wild to me about as U
- 8:36Speaker 1: is like they have all the makings to have a
- 8:38Speaker 1: good team. They have great weather, beautiful people there, there's
- 8:40Speaker 1: a lot of nightlife you can just bring like, hey, yo,
- 8:43Speaker 1: we can create something beautiful.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And you have so much fun. That's to say, so
- 8:47Speaker 2: much money in Phoenix, so.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Much you have and you have all these different areas
- 8:50Speaker 3: like sponsors that will sponsor you, but I.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Don't know, it was never you talk about building relationships
- 8:57Speaker 1: and how it's become way more transactional in college coming
- 8:59Speaker 1: in the NFL. This is truly where it's a transactional business.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Like you can what's the phrase you use, you love
- 9:04Speaker 1: me but don't trust me? Yeah, yeah, I love you,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but don't ever trust me. Right, that's the kind of
- 9:09Speaker 1: the mindset of all these coaches. They want to build
- 9:10Speaker 1: a relationship. At any point. If you're not doing your job,
- 9:13Speaker 1: we'll see you later, no doubt. Do you Are you
- 9:15Speaker 1: aware of that and still continue to build relationships regardless, Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I'm definitely. I'm definitely aware of it.
- 9:21Speaker 3: You know, I've seen that firsthand, Like you know, guys
- 9:24Speaker 3: have been here and then next day, like they're not
- 9:27Speaker 3: here anymore. And like my freshman, my freshman my first
- 9:30Speaker 3: year last year, you know, just just during reco MINTI camp,
- 9:35Speaker 3: like I was with so many guys up to that point,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and then when we start with the team, then a
- 9:41Speaker 3: lot of them are here and it was like it
- 9:43Speaker 3: was like a shock to me. I was like, it's crazy.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I just built a relationship with these kids, Like with
- 9:47Speaker 3: these dudes and then now they're not here no more,
- 9:50Speaker 3: and it's like, okay, so now you kind of see
- 9:53Speaker 3: like where the business is. And then even even like
- 9:56Speaker 3: coaches too, next day they're here, one day they or not.
- 10:01Speaker 3: And I'm like, right, like this whole time we've been gelling.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And but I see it, like like that statement right there,
- 10:09Speaker 3: I feel it's true. But for me, I think it's
- 10:11Speaker 3: still important to you know, build a relationship with those
- 10:14Speaker 3: coaches because you know, like I was just telling him,
- 10:17Speaker 3: like like Lord Willing, I could stay here in my
- 10:19Speaker 3: whole career, but say I'm not, and say those coaches
- 10:22Speaker 3: are somewhere else. Like you built those relationships so like
- 10:25Speaker 3: they trust you, so when you're somewhere else and they're
- 10:28Speaker 3: somewhere else, then they'll then they'll.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Like bouch out for you and pick you up.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So that's why I think it's like, that's why I
- 10:34Speaker 3: think you should keep keep the relationship out the whole time.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Talk Talk Talk Us through your rookie year.
- 10:38Speaker 5: I listen to your podcast you did on the Pivot,
- 10:41Speaker 5: which is right before the drafty you do go the
- 10:43Speaker 5: first round, which is awesome, and talk about that process
- 10:47Speaker 5: getting draft in the first round and then kicking off
- 10:49Speaker 5: your rookie year.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I mean so so during that process, Like
- 10:54Speaker 3: it's a long process. So just from from when I'm
- 10:58Speaker 3: done with my last year in my junior year and
- 11:01Speaker 3: then up to the draft, Like those five months, five
- 11:05Speaker 3: six months are long, and it's repetitive of talking to coaches,
- 11:11Speaker 3: going doing combined training, doing interview training, Like I'm doing
- 11:17Speaker 3: so many things and.
- 11:19Speaker 4: For me, like I love to do other stuff.
- 11:21Speaker 3: So I want to be an actor when I'm done
- 11:23Speaker 3: playing football one day. And I've been doing like acting classes,
- 11:26Speaker 3: but that's those acting classes have been helping for the
- 11:29Speaker 3: interview training because like it gets you comfortable and talking
- 11:33Speaker 3: to coaches and get you comfortable and being in different
- 11:35Speaker 3: areas with a lot of people in one setting. So
- 11:38Speaker 3: like me having to go through that was was alarm process.
- 11:43Speaker 3: But and then on top of that, like I was
- 11:45Speaker 3: in the controversy of should you take a running back
- 11:48Speaker 3: in the top ten, Like yeah, should you you know, yes,
- 11:51Speaker 3: you know, he might have the talent, he might be
- 11:53Speaker 3: the most talented, but like should you still do it?
- 11:56Speaker 4: Should you invest in it?
- 11:58Speaker 3: So I was like hearing all that type of stuff too,
- 12:01Speaker 3: and like it was It was weird because like some
- 12:03Speaker 3: days I'll be walking walking just on the street and
- 12:08Speaker 3: you see a TV in a restaurant and it's like
- 12:10Speaker 3: your face is the one that's up there on like
- 12:12Speaker 3: should you do this?
- 12:13Speaker 4: Should you do that?
- 12:14Speaker 3: I'm like, and then that's the questions that I've been
- 12:16Speaker 3: getting asked. So like that was like a definitely a
- 12:20Speaker 3: different process for me. But I think when you do
- 12:24Speaker 3: get drafted, like that was, it's like the best frienally
- 12:27Speaker 3: ever obviously, and going to the draft like experiencing that,
- 12:31Speaker 3: you know, if you have the opportunity to do that,
- 12:33Speaker 3: I think you you most definitely should as a player.
- 12:36Speaker 3: But then when I got here, you know, that's when
- 12:40Speaker 3: we started started rookie mini camp and like that's what's
- 12:44Speaker 3: about to happen right now here, and it's crazy like
- 12:47Speaker 3: that was a year ago, but like that was I
- 12:50Speaker 3: think that was like a really great process for me,
- 12:52Speaker 3: rooky mini camp, because for me, like, yeah, I play more.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I played running back, but I play other positions too,
- 12:58Speaker 3: Like I play receiver, play slot. You can line me
- 12:59Speaker 3: up anywhere. So like I really appreciate, you know, Arthur
- 13:03Speaker 3: Smith for doing that to me because you know, with him,
- 13:08Speaker 3: with him doing that for me, like now where I'm at,
- 13:11Speaker 3: the game just like slowed down so much, like instantly
- 13:15Speaker 3: because I'm learning so many different things.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, from linebackers to coverages to everything.
- 13:21Speaker 3: So and then obviously with the season, like yes, it
- 13:25Speaker 3: was definitely a blessing of a season, you know, for myself,
- 13:28Speaker 3: but even just learning, you know, how guys are, how
- 13:31Speaker 3: coaches are, like it.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Was, it was definitely a fun a fun, fun time
- 13:35Speaker 4: for me.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Was it the hardest thing for you was the speed
- 13:37Speaker 1: of the game at first? Or what was the biggest
- 13:39Speaker 1: culture shock for you diving to the NFL your first
- 13:41Speaker 1: couple of games.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so it wasn't really the speed of the game,
- 13:45Speaker 3: because dudes are a little faster than college. But I
- 13:49Speaker 3: think it was more so like dudes are smarter in
- 13:52Speaker 3: the league, so like you're not going to see a
- 13:54Speaker 3: lot of guys like miss their gaps. You're not gonna
- 13:57Speaker 3: see a lot of guys under pursuit, and dudes are
- 14:02Speaker 3: always chasing the ball somewhere somehow. But I think you know,
- 14:06Speaker 3: when you when you get a grasp of it and
- 14:08Speaker 3: understand it, then then y'all you'll start to click. But
- 14:12Speaker 3: when you find your rhythm. Then then it's like you're
- 14:15Speaker 3: playing collegeball game.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Yeah, when that camerangle came out, you're shifting around and
- 14:20Speaker 5: that shit was nasty.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and for me, So for me, like in college,
- 14:25Speaker 3: like I would bring out the shifts and stuff sometimes,
- 14:28Speaker 3: but like not a lot. But I think I think
- 14:32Speaker 3: now in the NFL it gives me way more freedom
- 14:35Speaker 3: to do that because dudes are coming from different angles
- 14:39Speaker 3: in different areas and you're always trying to get yards,
- 14:42Speaker 3: but you're always trying to find a way to like
- 14:44Speaker 3: make somebody miss because somebody's always right here.
- 14:46Speaker 4: So I get to like.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Obviously just slow a process down that I can.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I'll feel a defender coming any which way, and then
- 14:56Speaker 3: I know I have to do something real quick because
- 14:58Speaker 3: if I don't, like they're going to make a tackle.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 3: So like breaking tackles for me is like it's a
- 15:04Speaker 3: fun thing, which is interesting.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Breaking tackle is a fun thing. Absolutely.
- 15:09Speaker 5: It's fascinating to hear him talk about it because it's
- 15:10Speaker 5: it's like clearly he's like, I've added more shift shiftingess
- 15:14Speaker 5: to my game, but basically because the game has gotten faster,
- 15:16Speaker 5: he's developed quicker.
- 15:18Speaker 3: There is That's exactly it so like because the game's
- 15:21Speaker 3: gotten faster, like I have to get faster in my
- 15:24Speaker 3: process and.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Just set your head, I'm going to get faster and well.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Even his instincts it ends up coming.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's like you're in the I don't
- 15:33Speaker 3: even know how to explain it if you could, if
- 15:35Speaker 3: I if I, if I could, It's like you're in
- 15:37Speaker 3: a I haven't seen a John Wick.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you have seen John Wick?
- 15:43Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 3: So there's like the scene and like John wait two
- 15:46Speaker 3: and like they were all surrounded him and he was
- 15:49Speaker 3: just like looking around like trying to find anything, but
- 15:51Speaker 3: they were all attacking him. But like that's kind of
- 15:53Speaker 3: like what you're in when you're going up against.
- 15:56Speaker 2: And you're figuring it out.
- 15:57Speaker 3: You're figuring it out, just feeling one thing to the
- 15:59Speaker 3: next and versus fast. But then when it slows down
- 16:03Speaker 3: then it's like then that's when it gets dangerous.
- 16:05Speaker 2: John Wick or Jason Bourne Wick.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Have you seen Jason? I have?
- 16:09Speaker 3: I have?
- 16:10Speaker 4: I have seen them all. I haven't seen him.
- 16:12Speaker 3: But okay, that's right, Okay, I can't say I can't
- 16:14Speaker 3: say that if I haven't seen them all.
- 16:15Speaker 2: You can stand on business. I'm whatever you want.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm glad to have your opinion on busting with the boys.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yea who in a straight fight?
- 16:24Speaker 4: John Wick is like never lost to me.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He actually loses frequently.
- 16:27Speaker 4: He does.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He does frequently gets a lot of help, but he.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Loses in a way that he looked like he won.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Like he does.
- 16:37Speaker 4: He does.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You got to go back and wants the Jason Bourde movies.
- 16:40Speaker 1: He never actually gets his ass beat. There's not one
- 16:43Speaker 1: scene he's like that tactical. He's always one step ahead
- 16:46Speaker 1: of the game. John Wick. How many times in those
- 16:48Speaker 1: movies JP was he just his ass was saved?
- 16:53Speaker 2: The last movie he's going up those damn stairs.
- 16:54Speaker 1: He gets his ass kicks seventeen times and gets his
- 16:56Speaker 1: ass saved. It's great, but it's a great movie. No
- 17:00Speaker 1: we did it. You talk about like things clicking for you.
- 17:04Speaker 1: At what point the season last year, we're like, okay,
- 17:06Speaker 1: like I'm officially finding my speed. Rob is to touch
- 17:09Speaker 1: above everybody else.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So that first game of the season, I like had
- 17:16Speaker 3: this touchdown and when my first touchdown, like I made
- 17:19Speaker 3: this move and broke a couple of tackles. At that point,
- 17:23Speaker 3: I was like, oh shoot, like I could do this
- 17:26Speaker 3: like at a high level. But then the second game
- 17:29Speaker 3: we played the Packers, and like I walked on the
- 17:33Speaker 3: field and obviously, like God gifted me with talent and everything,
- 17:38Speaker 3: but then it's like you walk on the field and
- 17:41Speaker 3: like everything's just slowing down. It's like slow motion, and
- 17:45Speaker 3: like I'm in the huddle, and when I like break
- 17:48Speaker 3: the huddle, it's like I'm backing up and they're like
- 17:50Speaker 3: moving slow.
- 17:52Speaker 4: It's like some it's insane.
- 17:54Speaker 3: And so when I when the ball snaps, like I'm
- 17:57Speaker 3: anticipating everything like quick quick, and I mean, that was
- 18:03Speaker 3: an awesome game, but it was just like the and
- 18:05Speaker 3: I never even explained this, but it was just like
- 18:07Speaker 3: the process of like what I was processing during that
- 18:09Speaker 3: game and then the rest of the season.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It was something that like I was like, man, this
- 18:15Speaker 2: is pretty cool.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And obviously like you got to watch a lot of
- 18:17Speaker 3: film and that's all that film study and everything like
- 18:20Speaker 3: that to anticipate everything, but actually like feeling it and
- 18:24Speaker 3: seeing it that fast, it was pretty It was pretty dope.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Last year, Like on the outside looking in, I want
- 18:30Speaker 5: to say it was maybe the middle of the year.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Your workload would shift around and I feel like Coach
- 18:35Speaker 5: Smith would get questioned about it and wouldn't say too
- 18:37Speaker 5: much about anything happening behind the scenes or wouldn't really
- 18:40Speaker 5: tip off anything that's going on. Is there anything that
- 18:43Speaker 5: was happening in the middle of the year to where
- 18:45Speaker 5: your workload was shifting or to where you're hearing the
- 18:49Speaker 5: same stuff the external noise and whatever conversations you're having
- 18:52Speaker 5: with Coach Smith's behind closed doors, Like you know, people
- 18:55Speaker 5: who are curious about what.
- 18:56Speaker 6: Was going down last year? Is there any insight to that? Yes, Oh,
- 19:01Speaker 6: it was more so of me hearing the external noise.
- 19:04Speaker 6: And like, you know, fantasy football is a big thing.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It's so like I had you, I had.
- 19:10Speaker 3: So like a lot of people had me on their
- 19:11Speaker 3: fantasy team, so we would get lot.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Of check your dms.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But yeah, like here in the middle of the season,
- 19:19Speaker 3: you know, so so Coch Smith was you know trying
- 19:21Speaker 3: to you know, make me comfortable in the game and
- 19:26Speaker 3: make me comfortable with situations, and you know he was
- 19:30Speaker 3: just you know, trying to protect me and do what
- 19:32Speaker 3: every coach like because what Coach Smith didn't want to
- 19:35Speaker 3: do was was Derrick Henry me year one, like twenty
- 19:40Speaker 3: eight carries, twenty five carries like you're taking all this
- 19:42Speaker 3: workload year one because he was trying to like gradually
- 19:46Speaker 3: get me, get me ready to eventually do all that
- 19:50Speaker 3: type of stuff.
- 19:51Speaker 2: But probably from all over the field.
- 19:53Speaker 3: You're right, and like at the be end of the season,
- 19:56Speaker 3: like those first five games, like it was I was
- 19:58Speaker 3: like rolling, and then like in the in the middle
- 20:02Speaker 3: of the season, it was more so okay, it's like
- 20:05Speaker 3: let's get him, let's get him back to like gradually
- 20:08Speaker 3: kind of you know, getting them right.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Were you injured, Whe's there stuff going on towards saying, hey,
- 20:14Speaker 5: we want to Okay, I know we're we're picking up
- 20:16Speaker 5: your workload, like let's kind of maybe mitigate some of
- 20:18Speaker 5: the reps in the middle of the year and start
- 20:20Speaker 5: to make a run at the end of the year.
- 20:21Speaker 3: So yeah, but it was that, but it wasn't like
- 20:23Speaker 3: because of the injury and at the same time, like
- 20:25Speaker 3: my workload was becoming excessive, and you know, I was
- 20:30Speaker 3: I was running go routes, I was motioning, I was
- 20:33Speaker 3: doing all types of stuff, running the football, blocking in
- 20:37Speaker 3: on third down. And you know, for me, like we
- 20:41Speaker 3: have Tyler Algiers, he's the other running back. He's super good,
- 20:45Speaker 3: and you know, we played off each other really well,
- 20:48Speaker 3: and which obviously helped both of us a lot, but
- 20:52Speaker 3: you know, it was more so like doing all those
- 20:54Speaker 3: extra things to to be the decoy for the defense,
- 20:58Speaker 3: you know, because if I go on motion and then
- 21:00Speaker 3: that everybody's up, yeah, then it would shift on the
- 21:04Speaker 3: defense and it could open somebody else up. So like
- 21:06Speaker 3: that was that was where his thinking was. And yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 3: it you know, my worklow wasn't a lot like it.
- 21:11Speaker 3: It would decrease in terms of like getting carries and stuff,
- 21:16Speaker 3: but he was just trying to, you know, gradually get
- 21:18Speaker 3: me right in different situations. Because obviously, like towards the
- 21:21Speaker 3: end of the season and then it started picking up again,
- 21:23Speaker 3: but it was just at like the middle point of
- 21:25Speaker 3: the season.
- 21:27Speaker 4: That that's where his and that's where his mind was at.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Now are you guys talking through this wall, it's all going.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Down as Yeah, like we're all we were always on
- 21:34Speaker 3: the same page.
- 21:35Speaker 4: We're always on the same page.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Obviously everybody else didn't agree with it, but we always knew,
- 21:41Speaker 3: you know, what the plan was. And he told me
- 21:42Speaker 3: what the plan was before the season even started, and
- 21:45Speaker 3: I was perfectly okay with it. But and everybody was
- 21:49Speaker 3: but I mean as you start getting questions from the
- 21:53Speaker 3: media and as you start going on like there it is, yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 3: there it is, And then you have you have fantasy
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know players, you know, and on social media like
- 22:03Speaker 3: what's going on?
- 22:04Speaker 4: What was happening? Like, so it.
- 22:06Speaker 3: All tied in, but we were always like on the
- 22:10Speaker 3: same page. And then towards the end of the season,
- 22:12Speaker 3: that's what everything started to pay back up.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, when you uh, when this is all going down
- 22:16Speaker 1: and like you're getting this heavy workload. Then towards like
- 22:18Speaker 1: the middle lull, Yeah, everyone started to ask questions. At
- 22:21Speaker 1: any point, did you want to be like, hey, this
- 22:23Speaker 1: is part of the plan. Did you ever want to
- 22:24Speaker 1: speak up for that situation or you just kind of
- 22:26Speaker 1: had to sit back and let the noise be noise.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I just kind of sat back and let let the
- 22:30Speaker 3: noise be noise, and you know, yeah, I'll get media
- 22:33Speaker 3: questions from the media, and I was just kind to
- 22:35Speaker 3: tell them like like you just said, like you know,
- 22:37Speaker 3: this is all part of the process. You know, this
- 22:39Speaker 3: all guy's plan, like which it was like and just
- 22:42Speaker 3: for me just understanding mentally and physically where where I
- 22:45Speaker 3: was at. But then you know, when when when things
- 22:50Speaker 3: did start, you know, picking up. Then then we saw
- 22:54Speaker 3: the end the vision of it. But that middle like
- 22:57Speaker 3: three four weeks, it was like yeah, like what's happening?
- 23:02Speaker 3: And but we we knew the whole time, like where
- 23:05Speaker 3: we were going with it.
- 23:07Speaker 5: What kind of jump do you see yourself making going
- 23:08Speaker 5: into year two? Like what are your what are your
- 23:10Speaker 5: goals and aspirations for b Jhon Robinson?
- 23:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean obviously, Bro like to to elevate as
- 23:16Speaker 3: a teammate. So I want to be like I want
- 23:19Speaker 3: to leave by example in a way that you know,
- 23:21Speaker 3: everybody will be on the same page, you know what
- 23:23Speaker 3: I'm doing, and you know, for me, I think it
- 23:26Speaker 3: was really good to have, you know, the vets that
- 23:28Speaker 3: we did have last year because I learned so much
- 23:30Speaker 3: from them. Like even like Kalays Campbell like Bro, like
- 23:33Speaker 3: he's ultimately he's got that voice too, got that voice.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 3: He would just sit down with me, Like he sat
- 23:39Speaker 3: down with me at the end of the season and
- 23:41Speaker 3: he was like, yo, be like you can really be
- 23:42Speaker 3: the best running back in the NFL for a long time, Bro,
- 23:45Speaker 3: And he was saying, but you shouldn't go in every
- 23:48Speaker 3: day saying that like you obviously you're very humble, but
- 23:52Speaker 3: you should. You should just do it by your work
- 23:54Speaker 3: and just show everybody because for me, like I'm big
- 23:57Speaker 3: with finishing, so like after a run, I finished always
- 24:00Speaker 3: in the end zone. Sometimes coaches hate that, but you know,
- 24:03Speaker 3: my coaches like are cool, like they love it because
- 24:05Speaker 3: it shows everybody else like that's what we got to do.
- 24:08Speaker 3: And you know, for me, I think just me doing
- 24:11Speaker 3: that type of stuff in practice, and you know, even
- 24:13Speaker 3: just asking questions to other players on what their goals
- 24:17Speaker 3: are and where they want to see each other because
- 24:19Speaker 3: obviously I think as a team, you know, we want
- 24:22Speaker 3: to win the super Bowl, like like but that's what
- 24:25Speaker 3: everybody says, Like everybody's like, we want to win super Bowl,
- 24:28Speaker 3: we want super Bowl. But it's like, what are you
- 24:29Speaker 3: going to do you know as a team, you know,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and when nobody's watching, And you know, I think team
- 24:36Speaker 3: dinners like stuff like that are always a big thing
- 24:38Speaker 3: because you build.
- 24:39Speaker 4: So much chemistry.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And that's why I appreciate like even Kirk, because we
- 24:43Speaker 3: be out there, you know, grinding every single day on offense,
- 24:47Speaker 3: like trying to just build the most chemistry because obviously
- 24:50Speaker 3: we're on the field. Then that's what what we're trying
- 24:53Speaker 3: to do is be great. And then for me, like, yeah,
- 24:54Speaker 3: obviously I have these goals that I that I set
- 24:57Speaker 3: for myself, and I set stronomical goals, like I think
- 25:02Speaker 3: I even said an interview that I want to get
- 25:04Speaker 3: two thousand yards, but like it wasn't me saying that.
- 25:07Speaker 3: It was just the goal I have to set for
- 25:09Speaker 3: myself because obviously, like we have Tyler al Jerry, like
- 25:12Speaker 3: we have you know, that one two punch, and I
- 25:15Speaker 3: just want us to just kill the.
- 25:18Speaker 5: You're not saying it to diminish anything else. You're saying like, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 5: I'm trying to get two k facts facts, So like
- 25:23Speaker 5: you can take that and run with that quite a bit.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, with uh you brought up Kirk cousins, like
- 25:28Speaker 1: what was your reaction when Atlanta signed Kirk and how
- 25:31Speaker 1: has your relationship grown since.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You've met him?
- 25:33Speaker 4: Man? I mean I was happy.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Man, I was happy, you know, just because like, yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 3: I mean I feel like, yeah, he is a top
- 25:39Speaker 3: ten quarterback. But you know, I think because you know,
- 25:42Speaker 3: with his faith, just how good of a dude he
- 25:44Speaker 3: is to other people, to his teammates.
- 25:49Speaker 4: That's why I was excited like I.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Knew he can come in here and you know, Joe
- 25:53Speaker 3: right away with all of us, because you know, I
- 25:56Speaker 3: think the cool thing that Terry obviously Raheem, Arthur Blank,
- 26:01Speaker 3: Arthur Smith, what they all did is like they got
- 26:03Speaker 3: really talented dudes, but they got really good dudes at
- 26:05Speaker 3: the same time. And obviously he's a good dude. So
- 26:09Speaker 3: I think he would come in here and you know
- 26:12Speaker 3: immediately like Joe with the team, and that's that's really
- 26:14Speaker 3: what he did. And I mean our relationship is strong already,
- 26:17Speaker 3: and you know, just having talks with him and understanding
- 26:21Speaker 3: like where his his vision is and you know where
- 26:23Speaker 3: he's coming from and how you know he wants everybody
- 26:26Speaker 3: on the offense to you know, have the best seasons
- 26:29Speaker 3: that they've ever had. Like that's that's huge for a
- 26:32Speaker 3: quarterback coming in because obviously, you know, when you're a quarterback,
- 26:36Speaker 3: like you know, you want that like.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Me, me me type of glory.
- 26:40Speaker 3: But with him, it's like it's all of us and
- 26:42Speaker 3: we're off on the eat in this offense. He's a
- 26:44Speaker 3: worker and everything else, even a meeting proven meetings, like
- 26:50Speaker 3: like he's telling you exactly how he how he sees it,
- 26:52Speaker 3: how he wants it how it should be, and I
- 26:55Speaker 3: mean I never had that, so like having that and
- 27:00Speaker 3: even like in practice, he'd be like, this is where where.
- 27:04Speaker 4: It should go. This is where how how I see it?
- 27:07Speaker 3: And he he hits it there every time and it's
- 27:09Speaker 3: like this is the game change right here.
- 27:12Speaker 1: So seen your facial expression too about Kirk.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's exciting. Seen crypt chains yet, like the change
- 27:20Speaker 2: around No, no, no, does he have the chain? Is locker?
- 27:22Speaker 4: His ultimates.
- 27:26Speaker 2: They came out yet I can't wait to put a
- 27:30Speaker 2: chain on there. You know what, what else do we
- 27:34Speaker 2: have for Bjeon?
- 27:35Speaker 5: I got I got one. Hey, the Bjon Mustards and
- 27:38Speaker 5: the mustard. Let's talk about the brand of the mustard.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Yeah, so the mustard came out like two years ago,
- 27:45Speaker 3: and you know it was all it was all from
- 27:47Speaker 3: like an idea of two guys, David and Craig. They
- 27:50Speaker 3: are the other owners of the mustard too, and they
- 27:53Speaker 3: came with this like whole presentation of like.
- 27:57Speaker 4: What it it's going to become, like what it should be.
- 28:00Speaker 3: This is before anything, and we're like in the top
- 28:02Speaker 3: golf like meeting room. So they came with it and
- 28:07Speaker 3: at first I was like it's kind of cheesy lokey,
- 28:11Speaker 3: like you know that, you know, this is a little weird.
- 28:14Speaker 3: But uh, like they had like billboards and like murals
- 28:17Speaker 3: and they had like it's selling in stores, and I
- 28:21Speaker 3: was like, yeah, this sounds really good, but I mean
- 28:24Speaker 3: I just don't know how it's gonna be, so like.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Is it gonna sell?
- 28:27Speaker 4: It's gonna sell.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 3: So the two months later it came out in that summer,
- 28:33Speaker 3: and you know, it was like a big thing, like
- 28:36Speaker 3: the pr and everything, and people were like like this
- 28:39Speaker 3: dude has his own mustard. Like that's kind of where
- 28:41Speaker 3: it was at first, and so people started buying it
- 28:43Speaker 3: online and then like a whole bunch of people, like
- 28:47Speaker 3: we saw we saw an order cell from like a
- 28:50Speaker 3: little bit to like it just skyrocketed out of the
- 28:52Speaker 3: blue and so we like made merch we made all
- 28:56Speaker 3: types of stuff, and I think the first six once
- 29:00Speaker 3: it was out and it was during that football season,
- 29:03Speaker 3: it was like the highest selling condiment in the US.
- 29:07Speaker 2: What congrats on that?
- 29:09Speaker 4: It was pretty cool.
- 29:10Speaker 2: That's a big game too.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Some big dogs in that game, Hines, Yeah, big, some
- 29:15Speaker 1: big dogs.
- 29:17Speaker 3: And it's crazy because you know, even even in like
- 29:20Speaker 3: the grocery stores like in Austin. Obviously we're trying to
- 29:23Speaker 3: get it across the country and in every grocery store.
- 29:27Speaker 3: But like every week you'll go to the grocery store
- 29:31Speaker 3: and it's gone, and then you'll have every other condiment
- 29:34Speaker 3: still there and they're just like keep reloading it. So
- 29:38Speaker 3: and it's cool because I mean people like when they
- 29:41Speaker 3: get the mustard, like they'll like take a picture with it,
- 29:43Speaker 3: like they're like happy about it.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Like you don't.
- 29:45Speaker 3: You're not going to hines, you catch up or muster
- 29:49Speaker 3: like settle, you know, and it's like it's not cool,
- 29:55Speaker 3: but it about to buy it up. Maybe the probably
- 30:03Speaker 3: they did, like obviously like somebody, you're open for.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Business business, have you done anything creative marketing wise yourself
- 30:12Speaker 5: outside of like marketing planes, Like right now I'm thinking
- 30:14Speaker 5: to myself.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Was pretty creative. He needs to have the mustard, like you.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Know, somebody one of the equipment guys has in the bag,
- 30:19Speaker 5: but he has it out on the field. Not out
- 30:21Speaker 5: on the field, but on the sideline and after he scores,
- 30:24Speaker 5: it's like he jogs over to the sideline and just
- 30:26Speaker 5: takes a shot of the mustard, which that right there
- 30:28Speaker 5: is just I mean, so there's your advertising. Yeah, if
- 30:33Speaker 5: you have water, just a bottle, you just go right back.
- 30:36Speaker 5: It's like Marshawn eating the Skittles.
- 30:37Speaker 4: That's a matter of fact. Like that one's free.
- 30:40Speaker 3: We've done like marketing stuff obviously with the commercials and stuff,
- 30:45Speaker 3: but that one right there, like after a touchdown and
- 30:48Speaker 3: like somebody just throw it in the like throw it
- 30:50Speaker 3: from the crowd, like throw it at me.
- 30:52Speaker 2: You know, we can do a lot in the sideline. Yeah,
- 30:54Speaker 2: get a couple throw to the fans and let them
- 30:56Speaker 2: do it.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Let them do it, bro keep it under the goalpust
- 30:58Speaker 1: a hot dog and the mustard score touch down, put
- 31:00Speaker 1: the mustard on top that that would probably be a
- 31:02Speaker 1: fine though. That's all right, He's fine for sure, right on.
- 31:07Speaker 4: That's it.
- 31:08Speaker 2: It's nothing. It's a long term play you could do.
- 31:10Speaker 1: So yeah, well one hundred percent has to have the
- 31:15Speaker 1: design of your mustard and.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Then we have like the mascot. We have the mustard maskot.
- 31:18Speaker 3: So yeah, so it'll be at all the games.
- 31:20Speaker 4: It's me.
- 31:22Speaker 3: On my phone like yeah, but yeah, he's just at
- 31:25Speaker 3: all the games, like at the Falcon games, like it's
- 31:28Speaker 3: in the stadium for re at Texas games, like they're
- 31:32Speaker 3: just walking around just and it's a big attraction, Like
- 31:35Speaker 3: it's pretty cool.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I can't wait for you to negotiate your second contract
- 31:37Speaker 2: to Arthur Blake and your mustard. You're going to do this.
- 31:40Speaker 2: This is the only condiment you're allowed to happen there.
- 31:43Speaker 1: And he just sits there and twittles his mustache, agrees confidently,
- 31:47Speaker 1: shakes your hand. I know we're about to slow this
- 31:51Speaker 1: thing down a little bit. But and see, did you.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Ever play the game and loved it?
- 31:55Speaker 2: Loved it? How heartbroken are you that you're not going
- 31:58Speaker 2: to ever be at the game very much? Just missed
- 32:00Speaker 2: that time? You will be? I think Legends.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Twenty five, Yeah, that'd be cool, but I'm heart broken
- 32:08Speaker 3: bad like I was three years two years off, two
- 32:12Speaker 3: years off.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I hated to bring that up. But it is coming
- 32:14Speaker 1: out really soon, it is. And so when it comes
- 32:16Speaker 1: out there, you're.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Gonna play July.
- 32:18Speaker 1: July, middle of July. They're like announcing everything. I think
- 32:21Speaker 1: next week or something.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Stuck on that game.
- 32:24Speaker 2: You're a gamer.
- 32:25Speaker 4: I'm a gamer.
- 32:25Speaker 2: What your game with? Spa gamer? And after dude combo.
- 32:29Speaker 3: There it is so like I love I love FIFA
- 32:32Speaker 3: mm hmmm, I love like I love two k Maden.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I'm okay at like UFC like that's my stuff right there.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Okay. So would you say you're the best gamer in
- 32:41Speaker 2: the locker room.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Absolutely not.
- 32:43Speaker 3: There's a couple of dudes that are actually like real
- 32:46Speaker 3: like so like Coop, he's unbelievable.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Can't count. Can't count kickers. They have more time than
- 32:58Speaker 2: everybody else to do they That's true.
- 33:00Speaker 4: That is true.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Even even in college, like the kickers were just like
- 33:03Speaker 3: just way better than me for for no reason.
- 33:04Speaker 5: And I was like, come on, man, all the games,
- 33:06Speaker 5: ping pong, all.
- 33:08Speaker 1: We had kickers in college that it was like not
- 33:11Speaker 1: their day to kick. So I'd be like walking out
- 33:13Speaker 1: to practice and they'd be like, oh, we're going to
- 33:14Speaker 1: the movies.
- 33:16Speaker 2: God damn it, it was they were going to the movies.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yea Kern and uh who was Ryan.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Suck up? Ryan suck Up?
- 33:26Speaker 5: And Kern would be breaking down, like we're in meetings
- 33:29Speaker 5: and they'd be breaking down golf courses. They just be
- 33:32Speaker 5: playing out golf trips and breaking down.
- 33:35Speaker 2: We're going like we have a break to go to
- 33:36Speaker 2: the bathroom and stuff.
- 33:37Speaker 5: You kind of go in, hey, what do you guys
- 33:39Speaker 5: and they're like literally breaking it get like stapled papers
- 33:41Speaker 5: and everything, breaking down golf courses.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Speaking of golf, like who's your favorite golfer? Tiger Woods?
- 33:47Speaker 2: All right, I'm just kidding.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I don't watch enough Max Homa Okay, oh yeah, that's
- 33:53Speaker 1: that's one.
- 33:54Speaker 5: He's been on the pot. He's one of the Scottieffer sure. Yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 5: just kind of came on. He kind of came on
- 33:59Speaker 5: to the scene this year by yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Golf, I'm not golf, but I'll watch it and I
- 34:05Speaker 3: played it.
- 34:07Speaker 2: You watch golf?
- 34:09Speaker 1: Yeah, for really, you have it on and you're like
- 34:10Speaker 1: you're stuck to the TV watching watch it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Watch get behind that man, he said, he I played
- 34:16Speaker 2: on PlayStations.
- 34:17Speaker 4: And that's kind of why I watch it.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Good are you can you hoop?
- 34:21Speaker 4: Nahed?
- 34:27Speaker 2: I was gonna go. I was gonna get him going. Yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 5: I mean we asked coach raw this, like who's got
- 34:33Speaker 5: the best athletes NFL or NBA?
- 34:35Speaker 4: NFL?
- 34:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's no question.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Like, no, no NBA player can play NFL, but no
- 34:45Speaker 3: NFL player can play in the NBA.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Oh you're trying to line down the middle. There's nowhere
- 34:49Speaker 1: to go.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Both think so who Devin fun is now JP Okay,
- 34:52Speaker 2: but that's awesome, Like that's awesome for us.
- 34:54Speaker 4: One in a million, like and a lot of guys.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Michigan guy to talking on nasty about Michigan guys here,
- 34:59Speaker 2: we don't.
- 35:00Speaker 4: That's great, Whitecorn. No, I'm talking about the NBA.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I mean I don't watch basketball watch Actually I focus
- 35:13Speaker 1: on football. Dude're a football guy, all right?
- 35:17Speaker 2: No, no, No, offensive line we had fourteen of them
- 35:20Speaker 2: in the league.
- 35:20Speaker 1: That's more than any other college. That being said, Atlanta
- 35:23Speaker 1: Falcon's office line talks to me, how awesome Jake Matthews
- 35:25Speaker 1: is He's Is he the longest tenured Falcon?
- 35:28Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 35:28Speaker 2: It is? He just uh is it greaty?
- 35:33Speaker 4: And is he? Yeah? Yeah?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Is Jake talking about Jake's personality like your classic offensive
- 35:37Speaker 1: lineman keeps to himself.
- 35:39Speaker 3: No, no, not, He's got to like open, like when
- 35:41Speaker 3: he opens up to you, like Jake's my dog. Yah,
- 35:45Speaker 3: that's my dude, man. I mean obviously all five of
- 35:48Speaker 3: them are. I mean the whole office line room is
- 35:50Speaker 3: like super dope. But like when you meet Jake, I mean,
- 35:53Speaker 3: when you know Jake, he's just like the most laid back,
- 35:56Speaker 3: chill dude. I mean talks about everything, can talk about everything,
- 36:00Speaker 3: and he's still funny, Like he still has that funny
- 36:03Speaker 3: personality side to him. That's my dude, man, Like for
- 36:06Speaker 3: a vet, that's the what I want to have.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Can you do me a favorite? We have a segment
- 36:10Speaker 1: called Tier Talk. Yeah, and Tier Talk is basically ranking
- 36:14Speaker 1: whatever whatever the topic is. Can you tear talk me
- 36:17Speaker 1: your three favorite players on the Atlanta Falcons?
- 36:22Speaker 4: Okay, I feel like that's like a trick question.
- 36:23Speaker 2: You can give an honorable mention, you just got to answer.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's gonna suck for you to hear this.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Man.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I love everybody. Started three, started three, started three. If
- 36:36Speaker 2: there's an.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Honorable mention, going throw a few in there. If you
- 36:38Speaker 1: need to take a minute too, we got we got time.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:42Speaker 3: So number three, I'm gonna have to say matthew Ber No, no, no,
- 36:47Speaker 3: I'm playing man.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Sorry, Matt, that's gotta be tough, brother.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna say Zach Zach Harrison number three, Matthew
- 36:59Speaker 3: Berger around number two, and then Tyler Alger number one.
- 37:05Speaker 2: No audible mention, audible mention. Uh.
- 37:11Speaker 4: The rest of the I'm gonna say.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Liam, he's our long snapper, that's a fire dude, fire
- 37:22Speaker 3: dude or Jesse.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Bass I find a very interesting.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Jake Matthews did not make that after talking so nice.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, your team, your team, I am. I am close everybody.
- 37:35Speaker 5: How about your top three running backs in the NFL
- 37:38Speaker 5: right now? And if you could give a little synopsis
- 37:40Speaker 5: on what makes him great?
- 37:41Speaker 4: All right, then I'm I'm well, my first one.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Number one is christ McCaffrey just because, like you know,
- 37:48Speaker 3: his his stopping start is incredible, and you know, I
- 37:53Speaker 3: watch this game so much, like I compare my game
- 37:56Speaker 3: to his just the most because I feel like we
- 37:59Speaker 3: do the most similar of So I'm gonna say, I'm
- 38:01Speaker 3: gonna say him, and then I'm gonna say Brice Hall
- 38:06Speaker 3: is the other one, okay, just because like his patience,
- 38:09Speaker 3: how he you know, invades, breaking tackles, how he getting
- 38:13Speaker 3: he still has a long speed, He's the other one.
- 38:18Speaker 3: And then my third I'm gonna have to go with
- 38:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to go with who probably Saquon I mean, yeah,
- 38:33Speaker 3: I know his like his situation has been tough, but
- 38:35Speaker 3: like I think just raw just give the talent for
- 38:39Speaker 3: a running back, I think he got that and his
- 38:42Speaker 3: like lateral movement, how he can bend and make cuts still, like.
- 38:47Speaker 4: How big he is, Like I think he's he's the
- 38:49Speaker 4: other one.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So it's a solid list. That's a good list. I
- 38:52Speaker 2: want to say those three, that's a good list.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Put myself in there.
- 38:55Speaker 2: The boy.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I know, I was thinking that tale, but I didn't
- 38:58Speaker 1: want to be such a home Henery.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Ah see Actually I mean him in his prime, like
- 39:04Speaker 6: you know he's he's Hall of Famer.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yeah, he's yeah, most definitely he had two k Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 2: he did behind this offensive line that year five games.
- 39:16Speaker 2: What's up? I'll take that. Come on, take credit for that, though.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Who's who's your top three?
- 39:27Speaker 2: Just podcasters?
- 39:29Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 39:30Speaker 7: Matter, yeah, podcast podcasters, rogans Rogan's one. But what makes
- 39:38Speaker 7: him the one, Like his ultimate curiosity, he's so present
- 39:42Speaker 7: and he's so his ability to be so curious about
- 39:44Speaker 7: the subject at hand and be able to break that
- 39:47Speaker 7: down and have information about it is. I think that's
- 39:50Speaker 7: a that's a one of one talent.
- 39:52Speaker 2: In his range.
- 39:53Speaker 5: I mean, he can literally crazy range anybody on and
- 39:55Speaker 5: he does his he does his prep work.
- 39:57Speaker 1: He's what what was that supposed to go three first?
- 40:01Speaker 6: But he's yeah, yeah Brogan, God, what about full seeing like.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Boys, Yeah, dogs.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Those guys are awesome.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I don't know, But like, what's the category that we're
- 40:17Speaker 1: talking about when it comes to podcasts like that?
- 40:19Speaker 4: Okay, okay, just whatever the.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Oh I'm talking about. There's like so many podcasts. And
- 40:23Speaker 1: then Milk Boys have a massive audience. They do a
- 40:25Speaker 1: great job and their content is amazing. But are we
- 40:27Speaker 1: talking about uh, their interviews, how they approach the interview,
- 40:31Speaker 1: those types of things, because then I think it does
- 40:33Speaker 1: change a little bit because their their audience is insane.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Okay, and those guys, they are good dudes.
- 40:37Speaker 4: And then I would say, just like interviews.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Interviews, just being the well, like I would say, you
- 40:46Speaker 5: heard of him, Okay, armchair quarterback, he's our armchair expert.
- 40:52Speaker 5: He's really good man who I found myself listening to
- 40:58Speaker 5: a lot. I mean, THEO there.
- 41:02Speaker 4: So funny.
- 41:03Speaker 2: And I feel like he's developed over time too.
- 41:05Speaker 5: He's a lot more comedy in the start, because obviously
- 41:07Speaker 5: he's a comedian. But I feel like he's starting to
- 41:09Speaker 5: get he's starting to create a range and a variety
- 41:11Speaker 5: for himself where he's handling himself well in all these conversations.
- 41:14Speaker 4: I like that is he like in Atlanta.
- 41:18Speaker 2: He's in nae ye, Nashville. I think he's put between
- 41:20Speaker 2: the Nashville maybe l A. I'm not sure. Yeah, he
- 41:23Speaker 2: do Nashville. He was doing the pod with the shop
- 41:26Speaker 2: right for a minute.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Yeah, ye, but yeah, that's a solid three. You got
- 41:34Speaker 5: Rogan and Armchair Expert back Shepherd. I've never seen armer
- 41:39Speaker 5: expert one time, but I'll co sign it.
- 41:42Speaker 2: What's another? What's to think? Because Shoals has a really
- 41:46Speaker 2: good one. Yeah, yeah, but.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I've seen I've seen his clips. I've never really watched
- 41:49Speaker 1: the show. I think he's really good.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Yeah, it's hard, I know there's something. Yeah, I don't
- 41:57Speaker 5: digest a whole lot. I mean, and that's based on
- 41:59Speaker 5: like what I listen to, Like we can't we can't
- 42:02Speaker 5: not talk about the boys part of my take.
- 42:03Speaker 4: P m T.
- 42:04Speaker 5: They're like the number one sports pod. They have been
- 42:07Speaker 5: for a long time. Kelsey Brothers have a great pod.
- 42:10Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah, they're massive spin chickles all Barcel everybody with Barsel
- 42:14Speaker 1: listening all the Barcel pods. Yeah, pm T probably is
- 42:17Speaker 1: like they would probably be up there with Rogan the
- 42:20Speaker 1: Poppy too.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, they don't see and being at the
- 42:23Speaker 5: top for as long as as long as they have
- 42:25Speaker 5: each other having the same sense of humor, like they
- 42:27Speaker 5: do a great job.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's that's there.
- 42:31Speaker 5: You go.
- 42:31Speaker 2: There's there's your top whatever.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Top twenty six, right, there was your top left tackles. Okay,
- 42:41Speaker 1: my top left tackles. Trent Williams is one easy above
- 42:46Speaker 1: and beyond dog man the best one. He's the best one.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I wish I had a list to look at. So
- 42:59Speaker 1: I'm trying to go through. Okay, Matthews, I think Seattle.
- 43:08Speaker 2: That's West.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Tunsil is probably in there. Yeah, I'm just trying to
- 43:13Speaker 1: run through it all because like, uh, I think Jake's great.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I think who's hot, Tunsil, Houston is Tunsil, He's nasty.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Who's saints? They got nobody? Well, no, respective, I'm just
- 43:29Speaker 2: trying to think of names. Yeah, let me do I'll do.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Trent Tunsil. Let me get Dean Dawkins for three. Honorable
- 43:43Speaker 1: mention to our boy, Jake Matthews. I still hold a
- 43:46Speaker 1: lot of animosity towards him.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Lass Room.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we were sitting like in a room outside of
- 43:54Speaker 1: Radio City and we kind of like started talking because
- 43:57Speaker 1: we were both doing the you know, top tackles in
- 43:59Speaker 1: the drive, kind of sizing each other up a little bit,
- 44:01Speaker 1: but like being respectful the same guy. I'm kind of
- 44:03Speaker 1: both doing the uncomfortable thing together. And so I was like, Hey,
- 44:05Speaker 1: where do you want to go? And he's like, honestly
- 44:07Speaker 1: kind of looks around as if somebod's actually listening to
- 44:08Speaker 1: us for tackles. He's like, Atlanta would be sick. I
- 44:11Speaker 1: was like, dude, same. And then that Monday before the draft,
- 44:14Speaker 1: Atlanta flew to me and they're like, if you're there
- 44:16Speaker 1: at six, be ready, and I'm like, I'll be there.
- 44:19Speaker 1: I will be there around six. Comes around and I'm
- 44:23Speaker 1: like fired up, and the phone starts ringing on Jake
- 44:27Speaker 1: Matthew's table and he's like two tables away from me too,
- 44:29Speaker 1: and his family started celebrating. I was so fucking mad.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I was so tight because that's where I wanted to go.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I was like, al sick flower Branch. I came down here,
- 44:37Speaker 1: checked it out. Arthur Blank was kind of dope too.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Seems like a couple of guys not himself personally. I
- 44:44Speaker 1: made the re correct phone calls to get things done,
- 44:45Speaker 1: and I respect that if you're able to get away
- 44:47Speaker 1: with that, and so for me, I was like, yeah,
- 44:49Speaker 1: I'd be kind of sick. And then Titans called me
- 44:51Speaker 1: and I was mad about that because they had two tackles.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I was mad as about it.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Wait, so you're with Arthur Smith.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's that's our guy. He was one of
- 45:00Speaker 2: the boys.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Man.
- 45:01Speaker 2: He was a control guy when I first got there.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yeah, we would do these pursuit drills where they like
- 45:06Speaker 1: hold up balls in the corner of the end zones
- 45:08Speaker 1: and we would just run and try to punch the
- 45:09Speaker 1: ball out and I would literally beat the ship up.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I would run about, tackling the ground, start punching the ball.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Brother. Think I love about him though. It's like, yeah,
- 45:19Speaker 3: obviously he's a great coach and like we built the relationship.
- 45:21Speaker 3: But like, bro, his dark comedy hilarious like like if
- 45:27Speaker 3: you're if you're like if you're like a whisper like
- 45:31Speaker 3: something like that. Bro, you can't handle like coach Smith
- 45:33Speaker 3: because like he'll joke with you and it's hilarious. Quick, quick,
- 45:39Speaker 3: it's hilarious.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Bro.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Like he's got good group chat humor as well.
- 45:42Speaker 3: He does he does oh my gosh, like he put
- 45:46Speaker 3: he put us in a group chat some of us
- 45:48Speaker 3: off the players and just send the most like crazy things.
- 45:52Speaker 4: But like it was so funny.
- 45:54Speaker 3: It was so funny, and I mean that's like, man,
- 45:58Speaker 3: he can definitely like relationship, but like any player, just
- 46:02Speaker 3: office comedy because.
- 46:03Speaker 4: I mean that dude was hilarious.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Bro, I love that You've just added one more though.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Top three coaches you've ever had?
- 46:09Speaker 4: Top three coaches?
- 46:11Speaker 1: This is this has been a fun transition, I guess, yeah.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Like ever in my life.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, well number one, I'm gonna have to
- 46:21Speaker 3: go with my high school coach, coach Benet. Then it's Bene.
- 46:25Speaker 3: He's kind of like Coach Smith just off like like
- 46:30Speaker 3: he's very he's like the greatest coach in Arizona history,
- 46:33Speaker 3: high school coach Charlie Rag.
- 46:34Speaker 1: But yeah, go ahead, all right, just arguing about whatever.
- 46:41Speaker 3: But you know, even even just him like developed being
- 46:45Speaker 3: like helped develop me and me to become like a
- 46:47Speaker 3: respectable man and just like be a great kid.
- 46:50Speaker 4: He was that guy.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Uh. But then number two, I'm gonna have to go ahead,
- 46:57Speaker 3: Coach Choice to Shark Choice. He was my coach at Texas,
- 47:00Speaker 3: running back coach in Texas. I mean, like his energy
- 47:03Speaker 3: is like awesome, Like I mean, he brought about it
- 47:06Speaker 3: every day every day and then watch I bet, I
- 47:11Speaker 3: bet at the end of all this, like Rahim is
- 47:13Speaker 3: gonna be my number one. But I'm gonna say he's
- 47:17Speaker 3: already like Danner up there, bro, like Rahiem is fun
- 47:21Speaker 3: for a month and he's already like that guy. I
- 47:25Speaker 3: mean just his presence and like obviously like he's gonna
- 47:31Speaker 3: coach you like and get everything out of you, but
- 47:35Speaker 3: he's gonna do it with you like you be seeing
- 47:37Speaker 3: him on the field like in drills, like in the drill,
- 47:40Speaker 3: and I'm like, I just never had a coach like
- 47:42Speaker 3: that before. And then even my coach Petriot, he's I
- 47:46Speaker 3: guess he'd be like my number three and he's my
- 47:48Speaker 3: running back coach now and like my dog for life,
- 47:52Speaker 3: that no doubt.
- 47:54Speaker 2: I hear. I gotta I have a question.
- 47:57Speaker 5: People would assume that a cat like yourself, five star recruit,
- 48:02Speaker 5: best you know, drafted top ten, you're the man even
- 48:06Speaker 5: currently that somebody like you wouldn't have faced a lot
- 48:10Speaker 5: of adversity. What are one of the more trying times
- 48:13Speaker 5: you've had in your career as a football player.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, while I faced like I saw.
- 48:19Speaker 3: For me, I think I faced a lot of adversity
- 48:22Speaker 3: just going to Texas and not having a winning team.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Like when we would lose, like a lot of.
- 48:30Speaker 3: It would be on me and you know, like we
- 48:34Speaker 3: would go eight and five and then it would be
- 48:37Speaker 3: like nine to four or something like that, like that's
- 48:40Speaker 3: a bad season, like Texas and for me being like
- 48:45Speaker 3: the leader of the team, like who people watch.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Like you know it was had the guy?
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
- 48:50Speaker 3: It was hard, like and sometimes I would catch myself
- 48:54Speaker 3: like going to Twitter and seeing what people would say
- 48:56Speaker 3: and type.
- 48:57Speaker 2: In your name's all been there? You shouldn't you know,
- 49:01Speaker 2: you shouldn't.
- 49:01Speaker 3: I'm like I should not be doing this, but like
- 49:04Speaker 3: and I'm glad I did it then because obviously I
- 49:07Speaker 3: tripled out and now I don't care like care people think,
- 49:10Speaker 3: but like then it was like, all right, what's happening?
- 49:13Speaker 4: Like what did I do? What's the small mess up
- 49:17Speaker 4: that I did to make.
- 49:18Speaker 2: This kind of had a nice game with people?
- 49:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I had a nice game, But I still
- 49:23Speaker 3: want to see, like what's it? So it's like all
- 49:25Speaker 3: that kind of stuff was was a learning lesson for me,
- 49:30Speaker 3: But it would be like more adversity of like trying
- 49:33Speaker 3: to get teammates on the same page as you, and
- 49:37Speaker 3: sometimes like teammates went to went to the school because
- 49:43Speaker 3: of just the name, like they weren't invested in in
- 49:47Speaker 3: the in the in the play, like they just wanted
- 49:49Speaker 3: because they want to go to frat parties and say
- 49:52Speaker 3: I'm a football player, like that's all. And I was like,
- 49:55Speaker 3: that's cool, but I don't think you're really getting none
- 49:58Speaker 3: out of it by doing that, Like why don't you
- 50:01Speaker 3: want to be a great player?
- 50:03Speaker 4: Didn't do it?
- 50:04Speaker 2: Like I just didn't know where where the where their
- 50:06Speaker 2: minds were up. Yeah, they're messed up.
- 50:10Speaker 3: And then even you know even here, like man, this
- 50:13Speaker 3: team is is so tight, that we're so close, and
- 50:17Speaker 3: like just some of those heartbreaking like losses from last year,
- 50:21Speaker 3: like it was it was, you know, really hard because obviously,
- 50:24Speaker 3: like those are the ones that you want and those
- 50:25Speaker 3: are the wins that you want. But you know, with
- 50:28Speaker 3: the NFL, like we we would put ourselves in in
- 50:30Speaker 3: some situations where it was just hard to come out
- 50:32Speaker 3: of from from some of those games, and then it
- 50:34Speaker 3: would end up in a two point loss, three point loss,
- 50:37Speaker 3: and it's just like we know, if we won that game,
- 50:41Speaker 3: like we would be like easily in the playoffs. But
- 50:44Speaker 3: it's like those little things that I had to learn
- 50:48Speaker 3: from and come over because I think, you know, God
- 50:53Speaker 3: plans everything. You know, you have a setback for huge
- 50:55Speaker 3: setups for everything. So like that's where that's where the
- 50:58Speaker 3: setup really is, and that's where where we're right now.
- 51:02Speaker 3: And I feel like where we're right now is where
- 51:03Speaker 3: the setup is is happening.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah, So man, we appreciate you coming on.
- 51:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you can tell that you love ball, like you know,
- 51:10Speaker 5: being a good teammate, you care, which is going to
- 51:12Speaker 5: take you a long way, Like you know, there's there
- 51:14Speaker 5: you you you've probably seen it already. There's just guys
- 51:16Speaker 5: in the league that you know, they don't take losses hard.
- 51:20Speaker 5: They don't see it that way. They don't come in
- 51:21Speaker 5: the next day at work and you're just like, man,
- 51:23Speaker 5: why don't you care about this the same way I
- 51:25Speaker 5: feel like I'm caring.
- 51:25Speaker 4: About this, no doubt, no doubt.
- 51:27Speaker 2: But you can tell you love ball, man, And we
- 51:29Speaker 2: appreciate you coming on.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Man. Thanks for having me. Man, this is fire.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we do appreciate it. Hey, the mustard move, I'm.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Yes, address give you like a care package and.
- 51:41Speaker 2: I'll show you the technique and everything.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Please do. Yeah, there is a video.
- 51:45Speaker 3: There's videos of dudes just like going crazy with it,
- 51:47Speaker 3: telling you, yeah, I'm like that's insane.
- 51:49Speaker 4: I would never do that.
- 51:50Speaker 2: After a touchdown, you will, yeah,
