- 0:00Speaker 1: First reveal of the first release that one other point
- 0:05Speaker 1: that I was gonna make up the Big twelve, and
- 0:07Speaker 1: I mentioned Colorado is twentieth in the first reveal rankings
- 0:14Speaker 1: six and two, and it's the first time Colorado has
- 0:19Speaker 1: even been in the CFP rankings since twenty twenty. And
- 0:25Speaker 1: there's a great deal of excitement building up in Boulder
- 0:27Speaker 1: and a lot of folks saying, yeah, we told you,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna get this thing turned and flipped. And they're
- 0:31Speaker 1: already Bowl eligible and so on and so forth. They
- 0:35Speaker 1: do have a pathway to get to the Big twelf
- 0:43Speaker 1: championship game, so does Texas Tech. But say to say,
- 0:46Speaker 1: the loser of the game in Lobbock this Saturday will
- 0:48Speaker 1: be eliminated from that pathway. So it is kind of
- 0:51Speaker 1: an elimination game, and much as the LSU Alabama game
- 0:57Speaker 1: is pretty much an elimination game for the se C
- 1:00Speaker 1: championship game. Although although Cam heather Dinich, who studies this,
- 1:06Speaker 1: Alverias Dudeley pointed out that a loss by either LSU
- 1:12Speaker 1: or Alabama does not necessarily take them out of the playoff.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Given I think Alabama street the schedule is eleven.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I'm telling you they cannot quit Alabama. Well, they won't quit.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Them in Alabama, I think, giving them reason not to
- 1:29Speaker 1: quit on them yet to quit them. We'll see, we'll
- 1:33Speaker 1: see how it goes. It's a very important game, no
- 1:36Speaker 1: question about. In fact, after the Long Worns game, which
- 1:39Speaker 1: has an eleven AM kick, there's two very important SEC
- 1:42Speaker 1: games following Georgia Ole miss Follows followed by Alabama and
- 1:46Speaker 1: LSU in the night time slot. So important stuff there.
- 1:51Speaker 1: As far as the Texas Florida game goes. Long Worns
- 1:54Speaker 1: head coach Steve Sarkisian took part in the SEC Coaches
- 2:00Speaker 1: Call today and uh, you know this, like I said,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we're back on a regular schedule now for Texas football
- 2:09Speaker 1: and for the media availabilities. And so sark was asked
- 2:13Speaker 1: about this matchup with the Florida Let's start off with
- 2:16Speaker 1: his opening remarks about this matchup with the Florida Gators
- 2:19Speaker 1: on Saturday morning.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Good do it back on the back on the field
- 2:22Speaker 3: this Saturday, coming off our second by getting ready to
- 2:27Speaker 3: play a Florida team that my opinion has gotten better
- 2:30Speaker 3: all year long. They played really good over the last
- 2:33Speaker 3: month and a half. And I don't think they're they're clearly,
- 2:37Speaker 3: their record is an indicative of you know, how good
- 2:40Speaker 3: of a football team coaching Apier has the job he's
- 2:42Speaker 3: done and developing that team. So it should be a
- 2:45Speaker 3: great ball game. And like I said, looking forward to
- 2:47Speaker 3: getting back on the field and competing.
- 2:48Speaker 2: All right, that is the first part.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So then the questions came for Sark, and I noticed
- 2:55Speaker 1: this on Monday, even when Cameron and I were in
- 2:57Speaker 1: Las Vegas getting ready for the basketball game, we were
- 3:00Speaker 1: watching and listening to Sark online. Of course, we bring
- 3:04Speaker 1: you the press conference as part of our long Orange
- 3:07Speaker 1: Monday presentation every Monday, with our coverage starting at eleven am,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and then of course it's televised. They're locally here on KBVO,
- 3:16Speaker 1: but also on the long worn network and on the
- 3:19Speaker 1: longer network Gap. And a lot of the questions that
- 3:24Speaker 1: happened on Monday, or let's just say there was a
- 3:28Speaker 1: healthy handful of those questions, seemed to center around the
- 3:33Speaker 1: offense and getting back in a rhythm, getting back in
- 3:36Speaker 1: a groove. And so Sark was asked this morning on
- 3:39Speaker 1: the SEC teleconference, how close is his offense to connecting
- 3:43Speaker 1: the way he wants to see them do and operating
- 3:45Speaker 1: the way he wants to see them operate.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we're pretty close. That's it. See.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And the reason why he answered that way is because
- 3:59Speaker 1: he had such a bevy of questions about it on Monday.
- 4:02Speaker 2: You know, how close is close? And what do you
- 4:04Speaker 2: need to do?
- 4:05Speaker 1: He I thought on Monday, I thought he did pretty
- 4:07Speaker 1: good job, liking it to a shooter in basketball getting
- 4:12Speaker 1: some shots to drop, or a baseball player, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: making good swings, making good contact, but finally getting some hits,
- 4:19Speaker 1: some things to go through and or drive the ball. Well,
- 4:23Speaker 1: so he probably heard quite a bit by the time
- 4:25Speaker 1: it got to the day. He was also asked about
- 4:27Speaker 1: having two bye weeks in the regular season, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and this is always something I found interesting is that reporters,
- 4:36Speaker 1: it is their job to ask about certain things, even
- 4:41Speaker 1: things over which the head coach has absolutely no control whatsoever,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and that includes the two bye weeks, good, bad, and different.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Sark was asked about it.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it obviously makes it long, you know,
- 4:56Speaker 3: but the length of the season. You know, when you
- 4:59Speaker 3: really analyzed it from front to back and you look
- 5:02Speaker 3: at you know, kicking off the season in August, and
- 5:06Speaker 3: you know, all of us have goals and aspirations of
- 5:08Speaker 3: playing until January twentieth and now with the format of
- 5:15Speaker 3: the twelve team playoff, if you're fortunate enough to get
- 5:18Speaker 3: in that, I think there is a lot of value
- 5:21Speaker 3: in the two buys this year. Again, it's not always ideal.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Sometimes you just want to keep playing. But I can
- 5:30Speaker 3: say this for us, I think that the buys came
- 5:32Speaker 3: at really good times. We definitely had some injuries that
- 5:36Speaker 3: we were dealing with in the first buy, dealing with
- 5:38Speaker 3: some injuries here.
- 5:39Speaker 2: At the second bye.
- 5:41Speaker 3: We had some things that we needed to work on,
- 5:44Speaker 3: especially offensively, where we were trying to get ourselves back
- 5:47Speaker 3: to the standard of which we can play.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So I think the timing was good for us this
- 5:53Speaker 2: time around. Again.
- 5:54Speaker 1: All right, So now we're on the Florida and you
- 5:57Speaker 1: heard last hour we had Sean Kelleyhong talking about out
- 6:00Speaker 1: them being four and four but a highly competitive for
- 6:02Speaker 1: and four. After the Sluggers start losing to Miami, losing
- 6:06Speaker 1: to Texas A and m but they took Tennessee to
- 6:08Speaker 1: overtime on the road. It's a twenty twenty fourth quarter
- 6:11Speaker 1: ball game with Georgia. Before the Bulldogs scored the final
- 6:14Speaker 1: two touchdowns of the game. So what has impressed Sark
- 6:17Speaker 1: about the Gators.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Well, their last five game stretch.
- 6:20Speaker 3: You know, they beat Mississippi State pretty handily, they beat
- 6:24Speaker 3: UCF pretty handily. They go they go to Knoxville and
- 6:30Speaker 3: lose to Tennessee in overtime. Who I think they're ranked
- 6:34Speaker 3: six or seventh in the country right now. Then they
- 6:37Speaker 3: turn around and they beat Kentucky pretty handily. And then
- 6:39Speaker 3: they're tied twenty twenty with the number three team in
- 6:42Speaker 3: the country Georgia last week with seven minutes to go.
- 6:45Speaker 3: So and that's playing with their third quarterback. So I
- 6:49Speaker 3: commend Billy for the job he's done of keeping that
- 6:52Speaker 3: team playing at a really high level. They played really
- 6:55Speaker 3: good defense, their physical on the offensive side of the ball.
- 6:58Speaker 3: It definitely, you know, really woke Ocean all three phases.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And again, when you get to press conferences and conference calls,
- 7:07Speaker 1: quite often, you'll have a unique variety of questions not
- 7:13Speaker 1: only about his own program and also the program that
- 7:20Speaker 1: his team will encounter this week, and talking about Texas
- 7:24Speaker 1: and Florida as football programs. But Sarcus also asked if
- 7:28Speaker 1: he thought there were similarities between the two schools Florida
- 7:33Speaker 1: and Texas as academic institutions as universities, I.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Think there's some familiarity there. I'm sure that a lot
- 7:40Speaker 3: of other schools would kind of deem themselves in the
- 7:43Speaker 3: same light. So again, you know, I don't we just
- 7:49Speaker 3: try to focus on exactly what we do.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm not sure of all the ins and outs of
- 7:53Speaker 2: their place.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I know it's a great job, They've had a great
- 7:57Speaker 3: program for a lot of years, and obviously it's good institution, So,
- 8:02Speaker 3: you know, comparing them to all the other schools, off
- 8:05Speaker 3: the top of my head, without having any notes that
- 8:07Speaker 3: I could do some research on right now, probably a
- 8:09Speaker 3: little bit difficult.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And not only that, knowing Sarcus, I know him and
- 8:16Speaker 1: knowing what his schedule is like, I don't think he'd
- 8:20Speaker 1: want to put a lot of time and energy into
- 8:23Speaker 1: researching the academic comparisons of the University of Texas and
- 8:28Speaker 1: the University of Florida, whether it be in terms of
- 8:31Speaker 1: GPA or degrees, degree programs offered, and however it might be.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But in any event, he said that without any notes
- 8:42Speaker 1: in front of me, it'd be difficult to do that,
- 8:44Speaker 1: but he does have an appreciation for them. Just going well,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I don't think Cam that I'll ask him that exact
- 8:50Speaker 1: question when we record long, long, weekly, like what's your
- 8:53Speaker 1: opinion of Texas in Florida's universities how they did? And
- 8:58Speaker 1: you know, I don't know that I'll ask him that
- 9:00Speaker 1: sort of thing. But you know, on a conference call
- 9:04Speaker 1: deal like this, there's going to be a variety of
- 9:06Speaker 1: topics discussed. What I am surprised in looking at the
- 9:13Speaker 1: list of what we call in the business slugs, the
- 9:18Speaker 1: cut slugs, in other words, the description of what he's
- 9:20Speaker 1: talking about. I don't see one thing. And I was
- 9:25Speaker 1: traveling in so I didn't get to hear the call.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I don't see one thing here. One question of Sark
- 9:32Speaker 1: asked about the college football playoff ranking or anything.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Nobody asked him about that. Nobody nobody asked him about Now.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Of course there is he does have a media availability tomorrow.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure he'll be Yeah, he'll have the
- 9:48Speaker 2: Thursday media zoom.
- 9:50Speaker 1: He'll be asked about that because that's what would you say,
- 9:54Speaker 1: ninety nine percent local media.
- 9:56Speaker 2: For the Yeah, so I'm sure he'll be is but
- 9:59Speaker 2: nobody asked him about it.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's interesting given the SEC know what you think on
- 10:03Speaker 1: the teleconference today, they that they didn't ask Kirby Smart
- 10:06Speaker 1: about it, that they didn't ask you know, Kaylin de
- 10:10Speaker 1: Boorr about it. Interesting, that's all right, That's something I
- 10:15Speaker 1: will ask him about so and I don't even think
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'll have to ask, you know, the question cards that
- 10:23Speaker 1: we hand out, somebody will write what do you think
- 10:26Speaker 1: of your ranking in the college football play and I'll
- 10:29Speaker 1: let that person have the question, if that's the deal.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So anyway, we'll hear more from start coming up next
- 10:34Speaker 1: hour from this conference call, and we'll get to some
- 10:37Speaker 1: NFL notes coming up on sports Radio AM thirteen under
- 10:39Speaker 1: the Zone in the iHeartRadio app.
