- 0:00Speaker 1: So a bit of a sloppy start, but after that
- 0:02Speaker 1: seemed to be okay tonight.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought the second half was much more what
- 0:07Speaker 2: we were looking for from on the defensive end, I
- 0:09Speaker 2: thought we caused a lot of turnovers. We didn't allow
- 0:12Speaker 2: them to initiate their offense. I mean the third quarter,
- 0:17Speaker 2: they didn't score for a long time. I think they
- 0:19Speaker 2: had the opening bucket in the quarter and then not again.
- 0:22Speaker 2: So we did a much better job defensively, and I
- 0:24Speaker 2: think our offense was better. We simplified it a little bit,
- 0:28Speaker 2: but we really have to clean up a lot of things,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you know, like you can't miss that many layups by
- 0:32Speaker 2: our post players. That's one. Although we rebounded, we did wow,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I don't want to say that, but we rebounded our
- 0:38Speaker 2: own missus a bunch, so that at least was one positive,
- 0:44Speaker 2: I guess. But missing layups just is, you know, not,
- 0:47Speaker 2: it's just not what we want to do. You know,
- 0:50Speaker 2: you work so hard to get an easy shot. You
- 0:52Speaker 2: want to make sure that you finish. So that's something
- 0:54Speaker 2: we'll be working on. I thought our ball screen on
- 0:58Speaker 2: the offensive end was pretty good. I thought Sarah Strong
- 1:00Speaker 2: made a lot of great passes, but just really balanced.
- 1:04Speaker 2: When you look at the scoring and the shots in
- 1:05Speaker 2: the minutes, everything was just balanced. So that was we
- 1:09Speaker 2: were happy with that.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And that's the next question was going to be across
- 1:14Speaker 3: the board. Everyone played. Everybody contributed. You maybe twenty minutes
- 1:18Speaker 3: that you know the most. Somebody played, maybe KK played more.
- 1:20Speaker 3: But the intent was you really had an offensive spread
- 1:24Speaker 3: from everyone.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, we did the direction.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Not just three pointers, yep, we did. We had you know,
- 1:30Speaker 2: three players with double digit eleven, eleven and ten and
- 1:34Speaker 2: then it was eight nine, nine, six, five, four. You know,
- 1:38Speaker 2: so everybody. I thought when they had open looks, they
- 1:41Speaker 2: were able to knock them in. I thought Ali made
- 1:44Speaker 2: a couple of shots that were help that helped us.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You know, obviously they were overmatched, but you have to
- 1:51Speaker 2: give a loy all the credit. They were physical, they
- 1:53Speaker 2: didn't quit, they play hard. I think they'll do well
- 1:56Speaker 2: in their league. It's you know, it's just unfortunately. I
- 1:58Speaker 2: know they were missing two players probably would have helped
- 2:01Speaker 2: them out a little bit. But you know, I thought, overall,
- 2:06Speaker 2: it's just a good game, a nice way to get
- 2:10Speaker 2: ready for the weekend.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Chris, what have you seen in Ali's game that's different?
- 2:14Speaker 1: I mean obviously she's playing with a lot more confidence.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Well, that's probably the biggest thing I know. Coach has
- 2:19Speaker 2: always said that the number one. I think it was
- 2:21Speaker 2: actually Pam Webber who said this years ago when asked
- 2:24Speaker 2: what you need to play at Yukon, and she said,
- 2:27Speaker 2: tremendous confidence and belief in your own ability, and because
- 2:31Speaker 2: when you have that, when things don't go your way,
- 2:33Speaker 2: you're not shaken. And so I think Ali worked really
- 2:37Speaker 2: hard to come back in better shape physically, and I
- 2:43Speaker 2: think mentally she's in a different place. So I think
- 2:45Speaker 2: that helps her.
- 2:48Speaker 3: What does it look like in preparation? Now you have
- 2:50Speaker 3: this game in, you know, and then you're heading to
- 2:52Speaker 3: the People's Bank Red and to Harford. So what is
- 2:55Speaker 3: the schedule like or how is the mental preparation for
- 2:58Speaker 3: your team getting ready for the weekend.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Well, tomorrow's an off day, so they'll you know, get
- 3:03Speaker 2: you know, take care of school and get their bodies
- 3:06Speaker 2: right and hopefully their mind's right, and then we'll practice
- 3:09Speaker 2: Friday Saturday and play Sunday. Ohio State's interesting, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: we have a bad taste in our mouth from the
- 3:15Speaker 2: last time we played them was in the in the
- 3:18Speaker 2: Elite No. Sweet sixteen. No, was it sweet sixteen? Yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 2: it was saxteen. And we probably still have nightmares about
- 3:26Speaker 2: their their pressure and turning the ball over as many
- 3:28Speaker 2: times as we did. But they're a different team. They
- 3:31Speaker 2: lost some players to the portal, they brought in some players,
- 3:34Speaker 2: but they have a tremendous guard, a kid that I've
- 3:36Speaker 2: always loved, Jelanie Cambridge. She is really really talented. She
- 3:40Speaker 2: had a brother that played in a couple at a
- 3:43Speaker 2: couple of universities, but really good. She's had a sister
- 3:46Speaker 2: that played at Vanderbilt. Just a basketball family, A really
- 3:50Speaker 2: good kid, a really, really dynamic guard. I think people
- 3:52Speaker 2: are going to enjoy watching her play, and we'll have
- 3:54Speaker 2: our hands full guarding.
- 3:56Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:56Speaker 2: They put her in a lot of ball screens, and
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'm sure that they're going to press. We just haven't
- 4:01Speaker 2: seen as much of them because I think they just
- 4:04Speaker 2: played their first game much later than we did, and
- 4:07Speaker 2: then again, I think tomorrow. So it's hard. This is
- 4:10Speaker 2: the tough part of the season of the schedule because
- 4:12Speaker 2: you don't have a lot of information, and unlike years past,
- 4:17Speaker 2: you could look at last year and say, oh, let's
- 4:18Speaker 2: see what they like to do. But with the returners
- 4:21Speaker 2: and the changes, you just can't really do that. So
- 4:24Speaker 2: we'll have you know, day or two days at least
- 4:27Speaker 2: to prepare for them and see what we have going
- 4:30Speaker 2: into Sunday.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Sunday very good, Christine, is always a pleasure. Thank you
- 4:34Speaker 1: for your time, Thank you, thank you,
