- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Hallmark fans, what you're going to hear next is
- 0:03Speaker 1: an episode from our other podcast, Yes, we do talk
- 0:06Speaker 1: about things other than Hallmark Last to the Party. This season,
- 0:10Speaker 1: on Last to the Party, we are discussing every episode
- 0:13Speaker 1: of the new Bravo series in the City. If you're
- 0:16Speaker 1: a fan of Summer House, you need to be watching
- 0:19Speaker 1: this show. So enjoy this episode and head on over
- 0:22Speaker 1: to Last to the Party to.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Subscribe for more.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Welcome to Last to the Party. Last to the Party
- 0:39Speaker 1: used to be a rewatch podcast. I was new to Bravo,
- 0:42Speaker 1: Wendy knew everything, and we were catching up on what
- 0:45Speaker 1: everyone else had already seen.
- 0:48Speaker 2: That still in our DNA.
- 0:49Speaker 1: But we've evolved. We're not rewatching anymore. We're watching in
- 0:54Speaker 1: real time and we're both figuring it out as we go.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Wendy selves the context, I solve the fresh Eyes, but
- 1:00Speaker 1: and the city is brand new to both of us,
- 1:01Speaker 1: so that changes things a little bit. This is a
- 1:05Speaker 1: reaction and commentary podcast. Now we watch, we talk, we
- 1:10Speaker 1: have opinions. That's the show, that's right, so we are
- 1:14Speaker 1: doing it. We're talking in the city. Quick little orientation
- 1:17Speaker 1: for anybody who's new here. Last Summer we did a
- 1:20Speaker 1: full rewatch of Summer House season one. That was a
- 1:23Speaker 1: good time. Yeah, I'd never seen it before, obviously you had.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You can go back and give that a listen. I
- 1:28Speaker 1: think it's a very interesting concept given where we are
- 1:32Speaker 1: totally in this universe of people, especially Lindsay, Kyle, and Amanda,
- 1:38Speaker 1: all three of them. I think there's references to who
- 1:40Speaker 1: they are in that beginning scene.
- 1:42Speaker 2: But we're here.
- 1:43Speaker 1: We did do a first impression preview episode based on
- 1:47Speaker 1: the trailer that dropped of in the City.
- 1:49Speaker 2: We'll discuss some.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Of that, and now we're here episode one dropped.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We've seen it. I got some thoughts.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Before we jump into that, some quick housekeeping. You can
- 1:57Speaker 1: follow us on Instagram where we are Last to the
- 1:58Speaker 1: Party Pod, your hot takes, your theories, your thoughts on
- 2:01Speaker 1: the cast. Last to the Party Pod at gmail dot com.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Are you ready? I'm way ready.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Let's talk our preview episode predictions versus the reality of
- 2:13Speaker 1: this show. You said it gave you. Valley season one
- 2:18Speaker 1: vibes absolutely like I don't want to watch forty year
- 2:21Speaker 1: old's navigate life as adults. I think there's a lot
- 2:26Speaker 1: of similarities to the Valley, but I think it's better. Yes,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I think the players in this show know what they're doing.
- 2:35Speaker 2: They know how to make good TV. They know how
- 2:37Speaker 2: to make good TV.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, and I think that's where the Valley has struggled.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So that's my initial thought. I will I want.
- 2:47Speaker 1: To say now after seeing this first episode that I
- 2:52Speaker 1: think the preview undersold this cast. Oh, because I was like, nah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I'm not really interested in anybody outside Lindsay, Kyle and Amanda,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I take that all back.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So that's interesting because in the preview.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We were like, these other cast members are taking out
- 3:09Speaker 1: of space, and perhaps there's too many of them.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yes, are you rolling that back a little bit? Yes? Interesting? Yes, Okay,
- 3:15Speaker 2: not everybody.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I still have a lot of thoughts and I'm going
- 3:18Speaker 1: to get to them eventually in this episode. But all
- 3:21Speaker 1: of these people feel very interconnected. There feels like there's
- 3:26Speaker 1: history there, but there's also new players and I think
- 3:33Speaker 1: a majority, not everyone, a majority are going to.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Make good TV. Yeah. I think we are in for
- 3:41Speaker 2: a good season. Here.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Let's talk structure a little bit, because this episode does
- 3:45Speaker 1: something a little bit different based on recent events. The
- 3:48Speaker 1: show opens at the end, Kyle and Amanda are saying
- 3:50Speaker 1: Goodbye at Summerhouse, and we roll right into flash forwarding
- 3:55Speaker 1: to their breakup announcement, Watch what Happened? Live clips about
- 4:00Speaker 1: like what's going on with Amanda and West, and then
- 4:03Speaker 1: ultimately the Amanda and West confirmation, and then we fast
- 4:08Speaker 1: forward to Kyle and Amanda post confirmation of the Amanda
- 4:12Speaker 1: and West relationship. Right, basically Kyle checking in on Amanda. Yes,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and he's like, I care about you.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I'm struggling with Amanda. I think we'll talk about it.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but she's kind of like I wanted to work
- 4:26Speaker 1: so badly with you, which I don't believe. In the
- 4:29Speaker 1: preview episode, we had said like they're going to say
- 4:32Speaker 1: the divorce drama for in the City.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that feels accurate.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, So I have a lot of thoughts here.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I think that Bravo could not pretend that the fans
- 4:44Speaker 1: didn't already know what happened between Amanda and West. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and that stuff, So the headlines were way too alloud.
- 4:51Speaker 1: They had to insert all of that stuff. They couldn't
- 4:55Speaker 1: just let the season roll out as previously planned because
- 4:59Speaker 1: Amanda and West all that up. Yes, right, they had
- 5:01Speaker 1: to pick up cameras and film this one off scene.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They had to.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You know, I think it absolutely saved the premiere of it.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I don't know, there's no way that I would have
- 5:12Speaker 1: I would have watched the show otherwise if they just
- 5:14Speaker 1: kept it as previously planned, but I would have been like, oh,
- 5:20Speaker 1: looking for like all the little things to rip it
- 5:23Speaker 1: all apart, do you know what I mean? Yeah, I'm
- 5:25Speaker 1: glad they acknowledge, like, hey, we're going to rewind here,
- 5:29Speaker 1: but we know you know what you know, Let's get
- 5:31Speaker 1: it out there and then let's watch it all play
- 5:33Speaker 1: out exactly basically exactly.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Do I think we had talked about it in the
- 5:39Speaker 1: preview episode? Do I think Amanda and Kyle purposely saved
- 5:43Speaker 1: their breakup for.
- 5:45Speaker 2: In the City. Maybe?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Maybe I think I'm leaning towards like, yes, in my opinion,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I could see, and I don't have any facts on this,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but I could see being a couple that you've been
- 5:58Speaker 1: together for ten years, you have built this franchise. You
- 6:02Speaker 1: could have a conversation off camera and say, look, I
- 6:06Speaker 1: know we are headed for separation, but we have this
- 6:10Speaker 1: commitment that we have to do this show. This is
- 6:11Speaker 1: our primary paycheck. Let's go into the summer let's do
- 6:15Speaker 1: it and then we will revisit separation for in the city.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Sadly, I think it was.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Obvious watching Summer House this last season that Amanda was done. Well,
- 6:29Speaker 1: that's my question, because Amanda says I gave everything I had,
- 6:32Speaker 1: but things gotten messy because I was so afraid of
- 6:34Speaker 1: losing you as a friend. I don't buy it. That
- 6:36Speaker 1: was not the Amanda I saw. I don't buy it,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and I don't blame her for being done in a
- 6:40Speaker 1: relationship that wasn't working for you. There is some question here.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Kyle's like, can you be fully honest with yourself and
- 6:46Speaker 1: tell me like nothing was happening with West before we
- 6:49Speaker 1: had officially officially announced our split. So let's move into
- 6:53Speaker 1: that scene. Yes, when Amanda comes to visit Kyle at
- 6:56Speaker 1: the apartment, Yes, like you mentioned earlier, they start out
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the kitchen. Kyle does seem concerned. He's like you
- 7:04Speaker 1: look then, and then they go to sit down on
- 7:06Speaker 1: the couch. They have a very amicable dynamic, it seems here.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I don't blame him for being like, Yo, give me
- 7:15Speaker 1: the timeline here, like, be honest with me.
- 7:19Speaker 2: People are talking, man, be honest with me. I think
- 7:22Speaker 2: you owe it to your spouse. Hear me out. I
- 7:26Speaker 2: have two opinions.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Okay, this from Kyle's perspective, I would be like, yeah,
- 7:29Speaker 1: be honest with me, tell me what the timeline is,
- 7:32Speaker 1: because I just need to know what I was working with.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I was under the impression that we were going to
- 7:35Speaker 1: work on getting back together, coming into the city, being
- 7:39Speaker 1: in therapy, et cetera, et cetera. But now I have
- 7:42Speaker 1: to wonder all this stuff with the West, even if
- 7:45Speaker 1: you were having like an emotional affair, Like, tell me
- 7:48Speaker 1: if that now Amanda is very defensive, very in this
- 7:53Speaker 1: moment and shouts at him about the allegations that he cheated.
- 7:58Speaker 2: During their marriage.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Could I see that Kyle might be trying to save
- 8:02Speaker 1: face here a little bit, like make him self feel
- 8:05Speaker 1: less guilty if Kyle did have like a outside marriage things, yes,
- 8:12Speaker 1: wouldn't make him feel like they're on level playing field.
- 8:16Speaker 1: If she said, yeah, I was emotionally into West during
- 8:20Speaker 1: this time, because Kyle has been painted as the villain
- 8:23Speaker 1: in their relationship for a long time, A long time right. Honestly,
- 8:27Speaker 1: up until the West and Amanda accusations came out, people
- 8:29Speaker 1: were so team Amanda.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Uh huh, and I thought it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Was really interesting because as soon as he's like, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: were you having an emotional affair? And she's like, don't
- 8:39Speaker 1: accuse me of being unfaithful and then turns it right around.
- 8:41Speaker 2: She's like, there's a video of you making out O.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Kyle goes, okay, what did you make of that reaction
- 8:47Speaker 1: of his? Like did he seem guilty or did he
- 8:50Speaker 1: just seem like.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Are we doing this again? A little bit of both?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah. That's why I think he was asking the questions
- 8:57Speaker 1: so much. I really think he wanted a level play field. Well,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and I do like that he says, you're not a
- 9:03Speaker 1: bad person, but your behavior was reckless and thoughtless. I'm
- 9:07Speaker 1: glad he said that because I do think that's accurate.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Do you think he's referring to that her actions are
- 9:15Speaker 1: reckless and thoughtless to Kyle or to her best friend Sierra?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I think both. But I think the assuming she was
- 9:23Speaker 1: not unfaithful and all of this happened after their marriage ended,
- 9:27Speaker 1: or at least they were separated, I think the bigger
- 9:29Speaker 1: crime is what.
- 9:31Speaker 2: She did to Sierra. Yeah, I agree, I was a
- 9:34Speaker 2: girls girl.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but if things were starting while she and Kyle
- 9:39Speaker 1: were still in an unsure state of mind, then I
- 9:42Speaker 1: think they could go either way. Yeah, I gotta tell you, though,
- 9:46Speaker 1: those scenes don't feel performative to me.
- 9:49Speaker 2: They both truly look very.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Upset, emotionally upset. Kyle crying, Amanda crying, What did you
- 9:57Speaker 1: think of I'm sad someone else gets the version of
- 9:59Speaker 1: you that I fell in love with. Kyle still seems
- 10:03Speaker 1: to genuinely care about Amanda. I mean, he says he
- 10:06Speaker 1: does in this scene. He's like, I'm not trying to
- 10:08Speaker 1: like say these things to rekindle things with you. I
- 10:10Speaker 1: genuinely care about you as a person. And for me,
- 10:13Speaker 1: that's very It's kind of hard for me to wrap
- 10:17Speaker 1: my head around that as someone who's been married twenty
- 10:20Speaker 1: five years this summer, if my spouse and I separated, yes,
- 10:24Speaker 1: I do love and care for this person still, but
- 10:28Speaker 1: there's got to be a little bit of resentment and
- 10:30Speaker 1: animosity I think so too, to move that needle to
- 10:34Speaker 1: a separation. So it's interesting to me that that Kyle
- 10:38Speaker 1: is so generous with his caring.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I think so too. I think I think that's I
- 10:44Speaker 2: think that's true. I think that's true.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So then part of me starts to starts to question like, oh,
- 10:51Speaker 1: is this performative? Is Kyle really pissed under the skin here?
- 10:56Speaker 1: But he's like, uh, I'm gonna look like the good guy.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I'm going to come that to interesting quote winner in
- 11:01Speaker 1: the situation, I think two things can be true. Though.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I think he can be hurt and also still show
- 11:06Speaker 1: up for Amanda. I have always gotten the impression that,
- 11:09Speaker 1: whether or not Kyle's behavior suggests it, Kyle has always
- 11:13Speaker 1: seemed very into Amanda. Now, if you throw back to
- 11:15Speaker 1: Summer House season one, he didn't act like it. He
- 11:18Speaker 1: wasn't a good boyfriend, and you've had plenty of times
- 11:20Speaker 1: where he hasn't been a good partner. But I think
- 11:22Speaker 1: he has always really cared about Amanda. There's something that
- 11:26Speaker 1: draws these two together.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I agree. I felt for Kyle when he cried too.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I did too.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And I want to be clear to the listeners here
- 11:34Speaker 1: and to you, like, yes, while as we record this
- 11:37Speaker 1: on May twenty, First, I am team Kyle in this
- 11:40Speaker 1: scenario here. But Kyle is not without fault. No, We've
- 11:45Speaker 1: seen him be an absolute asshole even this season, so
- 11:52Speaker 1: and I think that has empowered Amanda the way that
- 11:55Speaker 1: the internet kind of rose up behind Kyle and his
- 11:58Speaker 1: behavior before she was taken down. I think she was
- 12:03Speaker 1: very empowered by people saying, thank god she finally left him.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Live your best life, Amanda. I think she lives like
- 12:10Speaker 1: the person who's like the people love me. Do you
- 12:13Speaker 1: think she thought the fan reaction would have been more
- 12:17Speaker 1: positive about her and West?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm shocked that she didn't think through. I think if
- 12:24Speaker 1: it was anyone outside of the Summerhouse universe, people would
- 12:27Speaker 1: have been shipping them like, totally live your best life,
- 12:30Speaker 1: get some Amanda, like whatever it takes. But people write
- 12:33Speaker 1: hard for Sierra. Yes, and I just think she do.
- 12:36Speaker 1: She overestimated her popularity. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Now
- 12:42Speaker 1: we rewind to September twenty twenty five, and I think
- 12:44Speaker 1: this was designed to be the genuine introduction of this
- 12:47Speaker 1: episode because this show is Linday Hubbard's vehicle.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I agree with you. I have that exact did you
- 12:52Speaker 2: copy my notes? This is Lindsay's vehicle.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And so we start in Lindsay's enormous, beautiful apartment.
- 13:01Speaker 2: In the city. Must be paying the big books. She
- 13:04Speaker 2: got all that Summerhouse money.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Summer House money, I mean that murmurs beautiful and interestingly enough,
- 13:09Speaker 1: we do get some on camera Gemma. Now, Jemma's not
- 13:12Speaker 1: on camera in Summerhouse. Listen, Jemma is a Bravo legend already.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yes in my eyes, when they actually show baby Jemma.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I went, oh, oh my god.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Now I went on to watch watch What Happens Live
- 13:30Speaker 1: after this episode and Lindsay was on it and she
- 13:34Speaker 1: and Andy talk about Jemma's appearance on the show. She said,
- 13:39Speaker 1: she said her and Jemma's dad have an agreement that
- 13:42Speaker 1: Jimma will not appear on social media, but the show
- 13:49Speaker 1: is about her being a mom, and they had an
- 13:52Speaker 1: agreement that Jemma can be on the show.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Got it. So while she's not on Summer House. I
- 13:57Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe this agreement came into her post films.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I think that's a fair compromise for her to say,
- 14:04Speaker 1: Summerhouse is.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Not my show.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I am one of an ensemble and it's not about
- 14:08Speaker 1: Summerhouse is not about my life as a mom. So
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's perfectly reasonable for Gemma to not be in that show. Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm like, how am I going to make a show
- 14:15Speaker 1: about me being a mom? In this new stage of
- 14:17Speaker 1: life without showing my kid. Yeah, I get that. I
- 14:20Speaker 1: get that.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean, Lindsay lays it out on the line.
- 14:23Speaker 1: She's like, I haven't had sex and nine months I
- 14:25Speaker 1: used to shoot rainbows and butterflies out my vagina. And
- 14:27Speaker 1: the editors respond with a.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Gift top tier editing in this episode.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And it's like a highlight reel of various Lindsay getting
- 14:35Speaker 1: it on scenes with her various dudes over the years.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, thank god, we have ten years of Summerhouse content.
- 14:40Speaker 1: People from right, we meet Liz and Nanny and Jemma's face.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Oh my god, she was so excited. Oh she loves her.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I loved it. I loved it. I'm telling you, Jemma
- 14:51Speaker 2: is great. Jemma is great.
- 14:53Speaker 1: When when Lindsay's like, this isn't my child, she makes
- 14:56Speaker 1: the same like the split screen the mean mugs. Yeah,
- 14:59Speaker 1: And then they would show Jema this one I'm talking
- 15:00Speaker 1: about top tier editing. And then they would show Jemma
- 15:02Speaker 1: like side eyeing her at different spots in the episode. Yes,
- 15:07Speaker 1: I freaking loved it. It was so funny.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, she's an icon. I loved it. What's your read
- 15:13Speaker 2: on Lindsay as a mom? I think she's very involved.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Me. I think she's very hands on. Even though Jemma
- 15:19Speaker 1: was so excited to see the nanny, I think Lindsay's
- 15:22Speaker 1: very hands on. Yeah. I don't think Jemma being excited
- 15:25Speaker 1: to see the Nanny as a knock on Lindsay at all.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I I have more people in your life who love
- 15:29Speaker 1: you as a blessing, not at all. Lindsay Hubbard was
- 15:32Speaker 1: made to be a mother. She has talked for ten years.
- 15:35Speaker 1: That's all she wanted was a baby. So yeah, she
- 15:38Speaker 1: wants to right the wrongs of her past.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I love it. I love it as I love her.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I say something that might be kind of controversial, Okay,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I think it works for Lindsay's life that she's co
- 15:48Speaker 1: parenting with someone she's not in a relationship with. M
- 15:52Speaker 1: because she has this life, especially on camera, and it
- 15:57Speaker 1: allows her to be like, yeah, I'm gonna go to
- 15:58Speaker 1: the bar. Now. That's not to say she couldn't get
- 15:59Speaker 1: it babysitter, but it does seem to kind of work
- 16:03Speaker 1: for her life, and it allowed for her to go
- 16:05Speaker 1: to summerhouse for the weekend. Yeah, like Gema's with her dad.
- 16:09Speaker 1: We meet a couple more people in this opening package,
- 16:11Speaker 1: we meet Lindsay's two she calls them best friends. Everyone's
- 16:14Speaker 1: a best friend, Yeah, Vonn and Georgina Yvonne Lindsay's longtime friend,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and they're both really intent on telling this story about
- 16:22Speaker 1: how after Lindsay's breakup with Gemma's dad, she went to
- 16:26Speaker 1: her and Yvonne helped her manually express breast milk. Yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 1: like they both have to tell the story there. These
- 16:33Speaker 1: are writer die friendships. Oh yeah, honestly I thought would
- 16:37Speaker 1: I do that for Mega? I think you and I
- 16:39Speaker 1: are a way past our past those dage child birthing stage,
- 16:44Speaker 1: but you know you can family went in a middle
- 16:46Speaker 1: of a hot flat.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 16:49Speaker 1: What are your first impressions of Yvonne and Georgina we
- 16:53Speaker 1: talked about We didn't really talk about Georgiana yet, but
- 16:56Speaker 1: Georgina she, like you said, she's a mom friend, successful,
- 17:00Speaker 1: but hanging on by a thread is what I wrote down.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Georgina is my favorite of the new character Me too,
- 17:07Speaker 2: Me too. She's a dermatologist.
- 17:10Speaker 1: She's got this kick ass business, but she admits like
- 17:13Speaker 1: she's kind of a hot mess. She talks about like
- 17:15Speaker 1: one of her kids eating dog food. She's like there's
- 17:17Speaker 1: protein in it, right, But she's also dropped heat gorgeous. Also,
- 17:22Speaker 1: she's single, her baby daddy left while she was pregnant
- 17:26Speaker 1: with the second baby. She's got a lot going on. Yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and she's interesting to me. She's my new she's my
- 17:33Speaker 1: new favorite. She's my new favorite. No, what about Yvonne.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'm on the fence about Yvonne.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I like Yvonne. This is what I'm worried about. Though.
- 17:39Speaker 1: This is the all season long. We're gonna watch the
- 17:43Speaker 1: I want kids slash. He's hesitant storyline. This is classic
- 17:50Speaker 1: Bravo storytelling. We've seen it on Housewives, We've seen it
- 17:54Speaker 1: on The Valley. Yeah, I'm okay with Yvonne as a person,
- 17:59Speaker 1: but like I, I don't think I'm gonna love her storyline.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And you know, a little bit later, she tells this
- 18:05Speaker 1: story about like I left and he didn't even notice,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and I was like, what are we doing?
- 18:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I'm doing.
- 18:13Speaker 1: And also we got married and I just assumed we
- 18:15Speaker 1: had had kids. You were adults when you got that.
- 18:17Speaker 1: You never had that conversation. Yeah, I don't love that.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I just thought, oh, I'm not brutin for this relationship
- 18:22Speaker 1: at this very moment, I gotta tell you, Okay, Amanda
- 18:26Speaker 1: and Lindsay go grocery shopping. This is where we learned
- 18:29Speaker 1: Amanda came home from the summer house and checked into
- 18:31Speaker 1: a hotel. She and Kyle are and couples counseling. They
- 18:36Speaker 1: hate each other like counsels, like you guys hate each other.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And then in a complete non sequitor, am Manda goes, oh,
- 18:41Speaker 1: some fruit, and Amanda, this is just another one of
- 18:43Speaker 1: those like, yeah, you're retelling the story of your failing marriage,
- 18:47Speaker 1: but U dgaf Yeah. Amanda says that Kyle told her
- 18:53Speaker 1: she should move out. Then they cut to like a
- 18:56Speaker 1: scene of Amanda and Kyle fighting in the park and
- 18:59Speaker 1: he's like, I can't be around you like this, right,
- 19:02Speaker 1: Which is interesting. I bet the greatest takeaway from this
- 19:06Speaker 1: scene to me obviously one I feels like it's very
- 19:11Speaker 1: producer guided to me, like they I don't catch us
- 19:14Speaker 1: up on what's going on with you and Kyle. Yes,
- 19:17Speaker 1: But what I was really impressed with is that Lindsay
- 19:23Speaker 1: says to Amanda, it might be too late for you guys.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You haven't been partners for a long time, yes, And
- 19:30Speaker 1: I thought, oh, that's interesting because later on we have
- 19:34Speaker 1: a scene between Kyle and Lindsay and she says the
- 19:38Speaker 1: same thing to him basically, and I thought, Oh, that's
- 19:42Speaker 1: kind of a good friend who's telling both these people
- 19:45Speaker 1: separately the same thing. Yeah, like she's not playing one
- 19:49Speaker 1: side or the other. Now she's known Kyle a lot longer,
- 19:53Speaker 1: and considering in current day, we know Lindsay's team Kyle.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I I thought she's being a really good friend to
- 20:02Speaker 1: Amanda in this scene, Like, I think, so very honest,
- 20:06Speaker 1: saying some things that I don't know if I would
- 20:08Speaker 1: even say to you. You know, you and I have
- 20:10Speaker 1: been friends that long time, but I don't know if
- 20:11Speaker 1: I would be like especially about it like a relationship,
- 20:15Speaker 1: like oh, I don't think it's going well for you, but.
- 20:18Speaker 2: It's not my place.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We have such good we're such good friends. I just
- 20:22Speaker 1: don't know if I could bring myself to like say
- 20:24Speaker 1: something so honest that might.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Be hurtful anyway. M hmmm.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well, we're going to meet some new faces now, some
- 20:31Speaker 1: new couples. Yeah, we start with Andrea and Lexi. These
- 20:35Speaker 1: are new faces to you.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yes, these are new faces to me, and they haven't
- 20:40Speaker 2: been in the.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Current summer House like Circles, although they did come in
- 20:46Speaker 1: at that last party in Summer House. They're like, oh
- 20:48Speaker 1: my Huad's like, who have the people on? Like, oh,
- 20:50Speaker 1: they're on in the city, so we gotta yeah, you
- 20:52Speaker 1: gotta meet them, sprinkle them in. We just kind of
- 20:54Speaker 1: learned the basics. Andrea and Lexi got married at a
- 20:57Speaker 1: castle in Italy and twenty four they're still very much in.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Like the Can I give you some backstory?
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah? Did you know that Andrea and Page war thing?
- 21:07Speaker 1: They showed a brief flash of it in this Yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 1: this was pre Craig, and it was at the time
- 21:12Speaker 1: it was kind of a little bit of a triangle.
- 21:14Speaker 2: She was torn between Andrea and Craig. Got it. How
- 21:18Speaker 2: did Page meet Craig? Winterhouse? Got It? These are shows
- 21:23Speaker 2: you need to watch, Yes, And then eventually Andrea was like,
- 21:28Speaker 2: I'm in love with Lexi. We used to date. She's
- 21:31Speaker 2: the love of my life.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm going to get back with her, and they do
- 21:34Speaker 1: and they get married. Now I have I think I
- 21:38Speaker 1: might have said on the preview that I was concerned
- 21:40Speaker 1: about Lexi being on the show, and I stand firm
- 21:45Speaker 1: in that opinion. Lexi is beautiful and sweet, and seems lovely,
- 21:49Speaker 1: but reality TV requires chaos delusion. I don't think she's
- 21:55Speaker 1: made for reality TV. Yeah, we fairytale wedding is not
- 21:58Speaker 1: all that interesting. Like I wanted to get me married
- 22:00Speaker 1: to Dneyland Castle and I got married out of real castle.
- 22:02Speaker 1: That's a lovely story, but yeah, is it? Is it
- 22:05Speaker 1: driving the narrative? No? The reason Lindsay Hubbard is so
- 22:09Speaker 1: successful on reality TV is because she she moves the needles.
- 22:13Speaker 1: She knows how to forward the story. I don't see
- 22:16Speaker 1: Lexi doing that. You don't see a tagline coming out
- 22:18Speaker 1: of Lexi this season. Now it's gonna go on a
- 22:20Speaker 1: C shirt. She could surprise me, but I don't see it.
- 22:25Speaker 1: We also meet up with Danielle and Owen. Now can
- 22:28Speaker 1: I ask you, are you have you reached a Summerhouse
- 22:30Speaker 1: season where Danielle was on it yet?
- 22:32Speaker 2: Well, Danielle was on last season of the Summer Oh
- 22:34Speaker 2: that's right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but you don't know the whole like you have
- 22:37Speaker 1: the whole trajectory.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Okay, Danielle.
- 22:39Speaker 1: After last season, I was not Danielle's biggest fan, let's
- 22:41Speaker 1: saycause Danielle came for Sierra and I'm like not interested
- 22:44Speaker 1: in that. Okay, let's talk Danielle and Owen. We just
- 22:46Speaker 1: get the basics of their relationship. They have a nine
- 22:50Speaker 1: year history. I'm putting this some quotation marks somewhere in there. Oh,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and got married. Yeah, I think she kind of left
- 22:57Speaker 1: that out right. Yeah, they don't talk about it. They're like, yeah,
- 23:00Speaker 1: we went our separate ways and then we reconnected six
- 23:03Speaker 1: months ago. We've been dating, we've been living together for
- 23:05Speaker 1: a month. And I'm like, this is a really quick
- 23:08Speaker 1: timeline because she's like, I want to get married, I
- 23:09Speaker 1: want to have babies, I need a ring like you guys.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It feels quick to me. It feels quick to me.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But then again, I was engaged in six months and
- 23:15Speaker 1: married six months later. So what do I know? For context?
- 23:19Speaker 1: In present day, Danielle has announced to pregnancy. She is
- 23:22Speaker 1: actively pregnant with this omen Yeah, yes, mass child. Yes,
- 23:26Speaker 1: So that story does have somewhere to go. We do
- 23:29Speaker 1: learn a little bit later own still married, separated like
- 23:32Speaker 1: in the process, not like he's having an active affair
- 23:35Speaker 1: on TV.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yes, did you imagine? Oh my god. We also learned
- 23:39Speaker 2: that Lindsay doesn't even know about Owen.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And Danielle's take is that Lindsay has ghosted her or
- 23:47Speaker 1: to come okay.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I have a couple thoughts. First of all, I enjoy
- 23:51Speaker 2: Danielle on reality TV.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I'm glad she's on this show. She's very much cut
- 23:55Speaker 1: from the same fabric. She knows how to move the
- 23:57Speaker 1: story along. She's chaotic. U. I enjoy that again, a
- 24:03Speaker 1: nod to top tier editing putting founder slash influencer under
- 24:08Speaker 1: Danielle's name is a deep cut summer house reference. I'm
- 24:13Speaker 1: a founder. I thought that was so freaking funny. I
- 24:18Speaker 1: love how we're going to talk. We will eventually talk
- 24:22Speaker 1: about Danielle and Lindsay and like sort of the same
- 24:25Speaker 1: sort of unfolding of relationships and getting pregnant.
- 24:30Speaker 2: They are very similar. Good point, So.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Interested to talk about that. But also I thought Owen's
- 24:38Speaker 1: discomfort whenever Danielle was like, I'm on a timeline. I'm
- 24:42Speaker 1: on a timeline, I'm on the Lindsay Hubbard timeline, he
- 24:46Speaker 1: looked uncomfortable.
- 24:47Speaker 2: He did.
- 24:47Speaker 1: He did.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Could have been editing, but he did look uncomfortable.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, especially because he's like, I'm still married, can't get pregnant.
- 24:53Speaker 2: I'm still married. I'm saying that out loud. I know,
- 24:56Speaker 2: I know nobody's saying that out loud. Let's meet Kenny.
- 25:00Speaker 1: This is also the first time we've seen Kyle in
- 25:01Speaker 1: this official episode. Kyle and Kenny are having lunch because
- 25:05Speaker 1: Kenny is an investor, and Kenny drops the bomb, I
- 25:09Speaker 1: haven't seen a financial update in a year, and Kyle's like, yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 1: things are not great. First of all, I actually find
- 25:16Speaker 1: the back end stuff of lover Boy business talk very interesting. Well,
- 25:21Speaker 1: he lays it all out. He's like, I'm on the
- 25:23Speaker 1: brink of financial disaster. I've laid off employees, I've put
- 25:25Speaker 1: in my own money. I need a partner or I
- 25:27Speaker 1: need to sell it. Yeah the end.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of loved it actually, and you know
- 25:31Speaker 2: who else. I kind of loved Kenny. Oh, I love Kenny.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I did not think from the preview. I was like,
- 25:37Speaker 2: I don't like Kenny.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Kenny the dude, not Kenny the partner. I don't like
- 25:42Speaker 1: Kenny the romantic partner. I got issues. Okay, I got issues.
- 25:45Speaker 1: We will talk about that. But I like Kenny here.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He seems like a real straightforward businessman, kind of seems
- 25:50Speaker 1: like a good friend to Kyle. I think he's very interesting.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Do think he's enough boy. But I like Kenny.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I found him very interesting.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw his conversations with Kyle were super mature
- 26:05Speaker 1: in terms of the lover boy conversation, and then I
- 26:07Speaker 1: thought it was a nice natural segue to the conversation
- 26:11Speaker 1: about Amanda. And he was honest, like lindsay, like, yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: like optics show that like things are not great.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Thought he threw a.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Little shade though, He's like, uh, she's kind of like
- 26:22Speaker 1: not fun, She's not on your energy. And he's like,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you know, I got Whitney. She's a good time all
- 26:27Speaker 1: the time.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And I was like, first of all, yeah, don't make comparisons.
- 26:31Speaker 2: That doesn't help you. Guys are new.
- 26:35Speaker 1: There's a difference in the energy and a brand new
- 26:37Speaker 1: relationship in a ten year relationship. But also I do
- 26:42Speaker 1: have a little bit of an issue with Kenny putting
- 26:44Speaker 1: his relationship up as like the model relationship, because I
- 26:48Speaker 1: don't think that it is. And we'll get into it.
- 26:49Speaker 1: But Whitney from the Midwest, she was on The Bachelor,
- 26:52Speaker 1: she has moved out here to be with him. Talk
- 26:56Speaker 1: a little bit more about that in a minute. But
- 26:58Speaker 1: you know, I'm intrigued by Kenny. I would say maybe
- 27:00Speaker 1: He's my second favorite of the new the New Folk,
- 27:03Speaker 1: Kay says, I think in a confessional, my biggest fear
- 27:07Speaker 1: is hurting her or not working out. And I got
- 27:09Speaker 1: to tell you the red flags on that play. My
- 27:11Speaker 1: biggest fear is hurting her. Is the classic like anti
- 27:15Speaker 1: commitment dude comment like I just don't want to hurt you.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Let me tell you. Did I hear that in college?
- 27:21Speaker 2: I absolutely did. I don't want to hurt you. That
- 27:23Speaker 2: sounds like smooth. It's not like I don't want to
- 27:26Speaker 2: hurt you therefore we can't be together.
- 27:28Speaker 1: No, I don't want to hurt you, putting it out
- 27:31Speaker 1: there like I'm not really a commitment kind of guy. Yeah, like,
- 27:34Speaker 1: let's make out. Let I put it out there that
- 27:36Speaker 1: I don't want to hurt you. Can't come back and
- 27:38Speaker 1: get mad at me when that happens. Gotcha, got rights.
- 27:41Speaker 1: That's my vibe that I get there.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Gotcha? We got our first group hang at the Garrett.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Is this funny that like you have to access it
- 27:49Speaker 2: through the five guys. I love it.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Speak easy you and I have been to New York.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Seeing all these shots of New York, I was.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Like, I'm dying to go. I want to go. I
- 27:58Speaker 2: want to go hang out in a bar and have
- 28:02Speaker 2: these New Yorky fall vibes so badly.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Here's one of the things I like about this show
- 28:07Speaker 1: is that every time they do a new scene, they
- 28:09Speaker 1: tell us what they're like, Chelsea.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What central borrow they're in, or maybe yeah, it's cool.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I love it.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I love it. A lot going on here Kyle and
- 28:18Speaker 1: Amanda on their way to the party. I guess we're
- 28:21Speaker 1: supposed to assume they've just left therapy, they're not doing good,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and he's like being critical and she's like, I'm slating.
- 28:29Speaker 1: He's like, well, you're wearing a raincoat. She's like, it's
- 28:31Speaker 1: not a raincoat. And I just thought, that's not the
- 28:32Speaker 1: hill to die on here, Amanda. And then of course
- 28:34Speaker 1: the edit cuts to like she's in jeans and long
- 28:37Speaker 1: in the summer in New York. Yeah, and September humid. Anyway,
- 28:42Speaker 1: I loved it, and Amanda's like, I don't know what
- 28:44Speaker 1: you want. And then she's like, I'm gonna go PM.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I can't.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I can't pretend to be happy in front of our friends,
- 28:48Speaker 1: which just furthers the narrative. They're like, Amanda never goes
- 28:50Speaker 1: hang sat with Kyle. Amanda's not fun. Yeah, the city
- 28:53Speaker 1: should be fun. Can you imagine being the husband who
- 28:56Speaker 1: always shows up to the event and being like, oh, yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 1: she's not here. She or I not always have to
- 29:02Speaker 1: make an excuse for yourself, Like, yeah, two.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Big things I want to talk about. Tell me what
- 29:07Speaker 2: you want to talk about first? Okay, Kenny and Whitney,
- 29:09Speaker 2: h or Lindsay and Danielle. Let's talk Kenny and Whitney. Okay.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I really liked the vibe of this friend group, like
- 29:17Speaker 1: when Kenny and Lindsay and they're all they're I liked
- 29:21Speaker 1: their vibe. I like their banter. I thought it was fun.
- 29:23Speaker 1: But Lindsay's like, excuse me, she moved across the country
- 29:27Speaker 1: to be with you without a ring. Okay. I have
- 29:29Speaker 1: two immediate thoughts. First of all, the preview made this
- 29:32Speaker 1: scene look like it was confrontational, and I thought it
- 29:36Speaker 1: played out as they were playful. They were poking at him.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He's like, it's giving I hate men vibes. She's like,
- 29:42Speaker 1: I don't trust men, you know. But here's what irked me,
- 29:47Speaker 1: because they're talking about the trajectory of their relationship and
- 29:51Speaker 1: he was like, we've been dating for a year. But
- 29:54Speaker 1: then he like kind of turns around. She's like, so
- 29:57Speaker 1: you've been together for a year, and he kind of
- 29:58Speaker 1: like turns around to look where she is.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't see that.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And then he's like, wow, like I had some other
- 30:05Speaker 1: stuff going on, like my mom was dying.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Yeah, whenever, I'm a hard time here.
- 30:09Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, the f boys stage one of the
- 30:11Speaker 1: stages of grief. Love it. And then he's like, so
- 30:13Speaker 1: we've been officially together for six months. It seems like
- 30:16Speaker 1: maybe she doesn't know what he was, Like he turns
- 30:19Speaker 1: around to check.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Her notion, and she doesn't know that he was messing
- 30:23Speaker 2: having fun styll with other women. I just thought it
- 30:27Speaker 2: was interesting.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Look, I don't think it's so far fetch that a
- 30:31Speaker 1: woman in her thirties would move to New York for
- 30:34Speaker 1: a guy. I don't think people are old enough to go, Okay,
- 30:37Speaker 1: this isn't going to work out, then I can pivot.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's not a twenty two year old dropping their entire
- 30:42Speaker 1: life to move to somebody somewhere for somebody.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I don't think it's that crazy, and I do think
- 30:47Speaker 1: I think there's some value in like it's fine if
- 30:50Speaker 1: they're not engaged. They've never lived in the same place together, Like,
- 30:52Speaker 1: you should live in the same city to see if
- 30:53Speaker 1: you are compatible.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I don't fully know how all.
- 30:57Speaker 1: In I am on Kenny's commitment to this relationship and Chip,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I'm bringing some twenty year old Meghan Baggage.
- 31:03Speaker 2: She's okay, all right, okay. Lindsay and Danielle. Danielle shows
- 31:07Speaker 2: up and Lindsay like runs from hers.
- 31:09Speaker 1: She's not one. They are on two different wavelengths. Danielle's
- 31:13Speaker 1: like Lindsay ghosted me, and Lindsay's like, I hate Danielle.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Lindsay pulls up for the producers. It's giving.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Here's an itemized list of thirty years of Grievance's Sweet
- 31:24Speaker 1: Jesus timelines receipts.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Whatever it is from. Yeah, they showed the screenshot of it.
- 31:31Speaker 2: It was fan. Lindsay knows how to make good TV.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love great period. She did Carl
- 31:37Speaker 2: a hand job in the back of it uber.
- 31:39Speaker 1: And my favorite is when she's relaying this to Kyle.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Kyle's like, angels aren't one great. She's like, oh come on,
- 31:44Speaker 1: She's like, He's like, I pay good money for a
- 31:45Speaker 1: hand job. But the thing I didn't like is like
- 31:47Speaker 1: he's like I was like, the lecherous laugh gave me
- 31:50Speaker 1: the creeps. I did think it was funny, though, I
- 31:54Speaker 1: did think it was funny. I the Lindsay Danielle situation
- 32:00Speaker 1: is interesting because if I was Lindsay, I'd be like,
- 32:04Speaker 1: Danielle is trying to take a page out of my
- 32:06Speaker 1: playbook here with the whole timeline of it all and
- 32:10Speaker 1: wanting to get pregnant and having a baby and all
- 32:13Speaker 1: this stuff and moving at rapid speed. Because Danielle was
- 32:16Speaker 1: so critical of Lindsay and Carl moving at rapid speed,
- 32:21Speaker 1: so then critical of Lindsay being like, you're not living
- 32:24Speaker 1: with the father of your baby exactly. So if I'm Lindsay,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I could I see where she's coming from. I'd be like,
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm tired of you. What I missed, though, is Lindsay
- 32:38Speaker 1: and Danielle that duo, the ones that had so much
- 32:43Speaker 1: fun on Summer House. So do I hope that they
- 32:46Speaker 1: can get to that place again?
- 32:48Speaker 2: Yeah? I kind of.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Do you know Danielle thinking about it now, like, is
- 32:53Speaker 1: there a part of you that thinks like Danielle maybe
- 32:55Speaker 1: wants to ingratiate herself with Lindsay because she'd knows this
- 32:58Speaker 1: is Lindsay's show, and if she and Lindsay you aren'
- 33:00Speaker 1: name good. Danielle's not going to whether or not she's
- 33:02Speaker 1: on the cash, She's not going to be in it
- 33:05Speaker 1: like scenes with Lindsay and.
- 33:07Speaker 2: They make show. I think so a rose. I know
- 33:11Speaker 2: you don't know what that means. I don't. I mean,
- 33:13Speaker 2: I know what it means, but I don't know the relevance.
- 33:15Speaker 2: The listeners know what it means. Okay, I'm gonna have
- 33:18Speaker 2: to look it up.
- 33:18Speaker 1: It just means that like they were, they they were
- 33:21Speaker 1: so close, like they had their nicknames or a roast
- 33:23Speaker 1: comboyo and they wore necklaces that said it like that's adorable.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Quite nice accent you did right there, thank you. It
- 33:30Speaker 1: was very awkward when Danielle's like, hey, can we get
- 33:32Speaker 1: coffee or a lunch.
- 33:33Speaker 2: And Lindsay was like, hmm, can't I think about it?
- 33:35Speaker 2: About it? Awkward?
- 33:36Speaker 1: It was as awkward as Carl's mom talking to Lindsay
- 33:39Speaker 1: at the Softbar launch, Like so awkward.
- 33:42Speaker 2: But you know, maybe Lindsay shoul try some boundaries here, right, Yeah, And.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Like Carl's mom was not nice to Lindsay, so Lindsay
- 33:48Speaker 1: doesn't really owe her warmth. Oh but that made me
- 33:51Speaker 1: so uncomfortable, so uncomfortable. Ohne also made me uncomfortable.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Me too, Me too.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Hey, let's take a good break and come right back
- 33:58Speaker 1: and talk more. In the City Shenanigans, we have a
- 34:11Speaker 1: girl's night out. Yeah, but this is the scene that
- 34:14Speaker 1: made me fall in love with Georgina.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Tell me more.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yvonne and Linday show up with Georgina's office and they're like,
- 34:19Speaker 1: we're going out, do you have anything to change into?
- 34:20Speaker 1: Like it's obviously staged. She's like, look at my closet, which,
- 34:23Speaker 1: of course in her office. She's got stuff to go out,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and she pulls out the cutest floaty black dress I've
- 34:31Speaker 1: ever seen a look.
- 34:34Speaker 2: When she comes out, I was like, hot, damn.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I felt like she's got like Jeane's gonna going out
- 34:37Speaker 1: top up there, like she's ready to go.
- 34:40Speaker 2: The woman is stunning. I agree. Amanda meets up with them.
- 34:45Speaker 2: This is when we learn some things. Let me stop
- 34:47Speaker 2: you there.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Before Amanda even gets to the bar, Lindsay's spilling the
- 34:51Speaker 1: tea to Yvonne and Georgina here that she has learned
- 34:55Speaker 1: that Kyle has demanded back pay rent from Amanda for
- 35:01Speaker 1: three years. She's a tune of one hundred and seventeen
- 35:05Speaker 1: thousand dollars dollar in the screen wows, and she's like,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I paid it.
- 35:10Speaker 2: And I was like, first of all, why were you
- 35:12Speaker 2: not paying rent? Yeah?
- 35:14Speaker 1: What? They drop tidbits like this, and I'm like, what
- 35:19Speaker 1: is the financial situation here? Like if you had all
- 35:23Speaker 1: that money, why didn't you invest in softbar for Carl,
- 35:25Speaker 1: Like if you had one hundred and seventeen thousand dollars
- 35:27Speaker 1: you could have given him ten k totally. Why weren't
- 35:30Speaker 1: you paying rent? When Kyle is clearly struggling.
- 35:33Speaker 2: When he's not taking an income from lover Boy and he.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Had to DJ to make ends me, Yeah, you know,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I think there's it's not obviously it's not black and
- 35:42Speaker 1: white with these two. You know, Okay, maybe Kyle had
- 35:44Speaker 1: to take a second job to make ends meet. He
- 35:46Speaker 1: probably doesn't have to go out until five o'clock in
- 35:48Speaker 1: the morning, A right loved Lindsay spilling the tea. But
- 35:52Speaker 1: then Amanda shows up. First of all, she's got bangs.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, oh you know banks, I thought about you. Actually,
- 35:58Speaker 2: she's like, these damn banks, I only thought about you.
- 36:01Speaker 1: And then she's like, I do not want to talk
- 36:03Speaker 1: about myself. Let's talk about some other people. And she
- 36:06Speaker 1: goes in on Danielle.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yes he is married, and then Lindsay freaks out. She
- 36:12Speaker 2: loves it, likes it.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I can't believe that Lindsay is is she's either unaware
- 36:16Speaker 1: of this information or this is like the greatest acting
- 36:20Speaker 1: reaction I've ever seen.
- 36:21Speaker 2: She was like, you have to stop. I can't believe
- 36:22Speaker 2: She's got some great facial reactions. There's one.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I think it's in the next episode. It's always like
- 36:27Speaker 1: the screenshot for this, Yes, like mouth the greatest of
- 36:31Speaker 1: the thing. Yeah, this is also when we learned like
- 36:35Speaker 1: Nick's not ready to be a dad. Evonne flew to
- 36:37Speaker 1: San Diego.
- 36:37Speaker 2: For a few days. He did not notice she was gone.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Of course, they edit in Nick in the house being like,
- 36:42Speaker 1: where's mommy? Obviously that that's obviously not when that happened.
- 36:48Speaker 1: But I was like, would you freak the f out
- 36:51Speaker 1: if your husband didn't realize you were.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Gone for days?
- 36:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it would make me reevaluate our entire marriage. You're
- 36:59Speaker 1: also telling me I.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Just don't have each other on fine, we absolutely do.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, Yvonne doesn't come on, come on, okay,
- 37:07Speaker 1: Kyle and man is anniversary dinner.
- 37:09Speaker 2: So physically uncomfortable watching this scene.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, of course we're going
- 37:13Speaker 1: to celebrate, and I'm like, really, I mean there have
- 37:16Speaker 1: been years where I'm like not happy with my husband,
- 37:19Speaker 1: but we still go through the motions of like celebrating.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I just thought you thought it was weird.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I didn't think it was a little weird. Especially they're
- 37:27Speaker 1: like so in the thick of it, they're like happy anniversary,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and I was like, what is this sham? And then
- 37:31Speaker 1: a man is like I'm moving.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Out, dude.
- 37:34Speaker 1: For her to drop that bomb at dinner, I honestly
- 37:37Speaker 1: felt so bad for Kyle because it seemed to me
- 37:40Speaker 1: like he's like we're in a good place, like yes,
- 37:44Speaker 1: and she's like, yeah, I'm gonna move out. And first
- 37:46Speaker 1: of all, I can't help but think, baby, you wouldn't
- 37:50Speaker 1: have gotten there if Sierra didn't say to you one
- 37:53Speaker 1: month earlier, maybe you guys should take some space, right.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I don't think she would have done it on her own.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Sierra pushed her, Yeah, but there's also a place.
- 38:03Speaker 2: In time for these things. This either don't go to
- 38:06Speaker 2: the dinner, but don't don't do it like this. It
- 38:12Speaker 2: was in poor taste. Agree, and I thought Kyle took
- 38:17Speaker 2: it like a champ. Oh my gosh, oh my.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Gosh, and everything that comes out of her mouth is
- 38:22Speaker 1: just bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I want a date. I'm doing it for the relationship,
- 38:25Speaker 2: not to end it like.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Let's she doesn't like. They go to therapy, they come home.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Kyle's able to transition into real life mode. He's got
- 38:33Speaker 1: to get work done, they got to take care of
- 38:34Speaker 1: the dogs.
- 38:35Speaker 2: She can't.
- 38:35Speaker 1: She's still stuck in all the resentment from therapy. She
- 38:38Speaker 1: can't separate that. She doesn't know how to do that.
- 38:40Speaker 1: And I get that. I understand the reason for a separation.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I don't think she's wrong to want that. I think
- 38:44Speaker 1: they need it to figure out.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I even miss this guy.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but the timing sucked.
- 38:51Speaker 2: And Kyle says, I don't.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I've never heard of anybody separating to help the relationship.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think there are times when a separation can be
- 38:58Speaker 1: for the good of the relationship. Take some space, think
- 39:01Speaker 1: about your life, what you need, what you want, but
- 39:04Speaker 1: I don't buy what Amanda is selling. I want our
- 39:07Speaker 1: relationship to work. I want us to figure out who
- 39:10Speaker 1: we are. I don't buy it.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I think Amanda wants out and this is phase one.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I need to know.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I need a freaking timeline. Their anniversary is September twenty fifth, Okay,
- 39:20Speaker 1: so this is very okay. Someone else ends like Labor
- 39:24Speaker 1: Day weekend, So we're talking like three weeks.
- 39:27Speaker 2: After they've been home. Yeah, it seems like that. It
- 39:29Speaker 2: seems like that now.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I wish here's the timeline. What I needed to know,
- 39:34Speaker 1: like when things started like really happening with west Right
- 39:38Speaker 1: because Kyle in their kitchen, see he mentioned something about Thanksgiving.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're right.
- 39:44Speaker 1: He's like, were you having an emotion like a round Thanksgiving?
- 39:47Speaker 1: And she, of course gets defensive and she pushes them off. Yeah,
- 39:50Speaker 1: if they were taking space after September twenty fifth, that's
- 39:54Speaker 1: a real fast timeline that she had because he's wondering
- 39:59Speaker 1: if Thanksgiving was when something happened with her and west Right.
- 40:03Speaker 2: That's a real fast.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Unless you believe the narrative that people are looking at
- 40:08Speaker 1: all the clues on Summer House that something was happening.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I do believe that narrative? Interesting, you don't. I have
- 40:15Speaker 2: one hundred percent on the fence. I could believe it.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I could believe it.
- 40:18Speaker 1: To add ansel to injury. These dudes next to them
- 40:21Speaker 1: are like, hybri universary, bro. And he's like, yeah, it's
- 40:23Speaker 1: been smooth sailing. And then Kyle is poor Kyle. He's like,
- 40:28Speaker 1: don't worry. This is this We're going to dinner out.
- 40:30Speaker 1: This is just appetizers, Like, I want.
- 40:31Speaker 2: To do it right? Did you notice that I did?
- 40:34Speaker 2: I thought it was nice.
- 40:35Speaker 1: They ordered is cargo and like caviars fine and had
- 40:39Speaker 1: nice fancy cocktails like that would have been enough for
- 40:42Speaker 1: me to be quite.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, if my husband ordered dinner at the house,
- 40:45Speaker 2: it would have been enough for me. But likely, Yeah,
- 40:47Speaker 2: that was plenty, Yes, plenty. I wasn't like, oh, he's
- 40:50Speaker 2: phoned it in because they're just having drinks.
- 40:52Speaker 1: No, I'm like why and why does he have to
- 40:54Speaker 1: explain it to these rando guys who are like, what's
- 40:57Speaker 1: this camera doing here? I know they didn't say that,
- 40:59Speaker 1: but I'm sure that was what was happening, And.
- 41:02Speaker 2: They're like, like a toad, it's been smooth, and I
- 41:03Speaker 2: was like, Okay, that was weird.
- 41:05Speaker 1: That was weird. Yeah, I thought this whole scene was
- 41:09Speaker 1: brutal but also incredible television. Absolutely, I'm trying to understand
- 41:15Speaker 1: Kyle and I and I feel like I'm giving him
- 41:18Speaker 1: a lot of credit here because I feel that past
- 41:24Speaker 1: Kyle would have spun out, freaked out at this, and
- 41:28Speaker 1: he just took it like I'm trying to be a
- 41:32Speaker 1: good partner and be supportive and I'm a little bit
- 41:37Speaker 1: Do I one hundred percent believe his reactions here? I
- 41:42Speaker 1: that's a good question. Before do you think he's really
- 41:44Speaker 1: trying to hold onto her? So he's like really raining it.
- 41:47Speaker 2: In so he doesn't even get emotional.
- 41:50Speaker 1: And what kind of pissed me off is he's trying
- 41:53Speaker 1: to understand the boundaries because he was he was like,
- 41:57Speaker 1: if we do this, and she's like not if. I'm like,
- 41:58Speaker 1: let him finish. He's not saying if I give you permission,
- 42:02Speaker 1: He's saying what does this look like for us? And
- 42:05Speaker 1: she never gives him a chance to ask that question.
- 42:08Speaker 1: She just like, it's fine, Amanda, you do have the
- 42:11Speaker 1: right to do this. You don't need his permission, but
- 42:14Speaker 1: let him finish the question, which is What does that
- 42:17Speaker 1: look like? Are we calling each other every night to
- 42:19Speaker 1: say good night? Are we planning a weekly what does
- 42:22Speaker 1: that look like? Why are we dating other people? I
- 42:26Speaker 1: feel like he was trying to understand the parameters as
- 42:30Speaker 1: she understood them. I found it suspicious that he didn't
- 42:34Speaker 1: have any reaction, particularly given we saw that scene in
- 42:38Speaker 1: April where he's emotional.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah, So do you think this was a this is
- 42:43Speaker 2: it staged? Yeah? Do you like, is he able to
- 42:46Speaker 2: be that cool that I'd be like, it's all smooth sailing.
- 42:49Speaker 2: My wife just told me she's moving out. Yeah.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I wonder if they filmed this and what do they
- 42:53Speaker 1: call a pickup scene? I wonder if this is a
- 42:54Speaker 1: pickup scene that they did and then they put it
- 42:57Speaker 1: in there. Oh, and so therefore he's kind of disconnected,
- 43:01Speaker 1: Like he appears to be like totally cool with the situation,
- 43:04Speaker 1: but it was filmed at a later time. This is
- 43:07Speaker 1: not actually their anniversary here. That's a good question. I
- 43:11Speaker 1: wasn't reading it as it's a pickup scene. I was
- 43:13Speaker 1: reading it more that it's just staged, that they're telling
- 43:16Speaker 1: the story of their breakup and they need to get
- 43:18Speaker 1: it on camera.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Not too I have a question for you.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Sure, given that we know that we are going to
- 43:25Speaker 1: see the dissolution of Kyle and Amanda's relationship, and given
- 43:29Speaker 1: what we know about reality shows where people no longer
- 43:31Speaker 1: like each other, like the Real House as a Beverly Hills,
- 43:34Speaker 1: and how they become unwatchable. If this show gets a
- 43:38Speaker 1: season two, it seems obvious that if one of them
- 43:40Speaker 1: doesn't come back, the person who doesn't come back as Amanda,
- 43:42Speaker 1: I think so. I don't think Amanda's coming back on Summerhouse.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I think Amanda and West are done. I think so too,
- 43:48Speaker 1: because I don't see a world in which Cierra so's
- 43:50Speaker 1: I'm going back to Summerhouse with Amanda and West there,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and they're never going to let go of Sierra.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't think they're gonna let go of
- 43:56Speaker 2: Kyle either. Kyle is Summerhouse. I think so too.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Honestly, it's fine, right, it is fine. Like I think
- 44:03Speaker 1: West is funny. I'm not team West at all. I
- 44:05Speaker 1: think he's funny. I think he brings some like humor
- 44:07Speaker 1: to Summerhouse, especially him and Jesse. Sure, but I'm okay
- 44:12Speaker 1: with those two being gone. Me too, Jesse, Kyle and
- 44:15Speaker 1: Sierra Bailey, Carl occasionally lindsay, mm.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Hmmm, I have a question. Okay, do you think Carl
- 44:25Speaker 2: and Sierra should be on this show? Yes? I think
- 44:28Speaker 2: so too. And I had some thoughts because I am
- 44:30Speaker 2: watching The Valley. You don't watch do you watch The Valley?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Okay, so up until last season, we're in season three
- 44:36Speaker 1: of The Valley. They this season they have brought in
- 44:39Speaker 1: Tom Schwartz and La La from vander Pump Got It.
- 44:42Speaker 1: They are regulars on the show. Now. It makes me
- 44:45Speaker 1: believe that, oh, there is a future for in the
- 44:48Speaker 1: City where Carl and or Sierra is brought into the show.
- 44:55Speaker 1: If Bravo spart they're going to bring Sierra in. They're
- 44:58Speaker 1: going to pay her top dollar and bring her in
- 45:00Speaker 1: the show because the fans are so ride or die
- 45:02Speaker 1: for her right now?
- 45:03Speaker 2: Don't you think so and she should do it?
- 45:06Speaker 1: They are missing I kind of would like to see
- 45:09Speaker 1: like a soft bar situation, like I want to see
- 45:13Speaker 1: some more about Softwar two. But I know a lot
- 45:15Speaker 1: of people don't like Carl. I love Carl, so who
- 45:18Speaker 1: doesn't like Carl. I have a couple other little moments
- 45:22Speaker 1: or things to bring up. We kind of talked about
- 45:26Speaker 1: it before, But I just thought the episode structure and
- 45:30Speaker 1: the pacing was really good, considering they probably had to
- 45:33Speaker 1: restructure the entire episode.
- 45:35Speaker 2: It's a nice overview of this cast.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought they did a really good job in
- 45:40Speaker 1: like forty five minutes or whatever. I also feel that
- 45:43Speaker 1: Lindsay has fully evolved. In fact, at one point I
- 45:48Speaker 1: was looking to see if her name as a producer
- 45:49Speaker 1: on the show, because I feel like she is operating
- 45:54Speaker 1: in this sort of producer role.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Is she credited? I don't think so.
- 46:03Speaker 1: The woman understands story architecture, and I think this is
- 46:09Speaker 1: her show, and I fully believe this would have one
- 46:14Speaker 1: hundred percent have been her show with her friends if
- 46:20Speaker 1: the whole West Amanda Sierra Kyle thing didn't implode.
- 46:27Speaker 2: You don't think Kyle and Amanda would have been on it.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I do think they would have been on it, But
- 46:32Speaker 2: Lindsay would have been on Carn.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Georgina and Vonn and all these other couples. It would
- 46:38Speaker 1: have been like Lindsay at the Peak of the Pyramids.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Yes, exactly. They're not credited as producers on IMDb. They
- 46:43Speaker 2: should be.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Finally, we talked about the comparisons to the Valley I do,
- 46:50Speaker 1: and my comments in our preview episode, I was like,
- 46:53Speaker 1: I don't want to watch these people in the early thirties, like, yeah,
- 46:55Speaker 1: try to adult. I think we're beyond adulting for the
- 47:00Speaker 1: most part. For example, the Yvonne Nick's storyline of should
- 47:04Speaker 1: we have kids or shouldn't we have kids, I'm not
- 47:06Speaker 1: interested in, mostly because I'm pastassage in my life. What
- 47:09Speaker 1: I am interested in is I'm interested in the relationships.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I'm not interested in the romantic relationship same I'm interested
- 47:17Speaker 1: in the relationships these people all have with each other
- 47:19Speaker 1: as friends.
- 47:20Speaker 2: And it's the same way for Summer House too.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Write like, yes, at Summerhouse a like party, and here
- 47:25Speaker 1: they're like functioning like adults and nobody lindsay yes. But
- 47:31Speaker 1: I feel like that's most evident in Kyle's behavior, because
- 47:35Speaker 1: you know, my number one complaint about Kyle in Summerhouse
- 47:38Speaker 1: is that he's always drunk. Oh, he was not giving
- 47:43Speaker 1: drunk buffoon Kyle at any point in this when him
- 47:45Speaker 1: and Kenny went out to dinner and like, I think
- 47:47Speaker 1: they had a cocktailer where Oh, it was funny that
- 47:49Speaker 1: Kenny was like, yeah, Kyle's kind of a lush thought
- 47:52Speaker 1: that was funny too, but Kyle seemed very level headed.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I wonder if he just keeps it real straight during
- 47:58Speaker 1: the week and then let's loose maybe on the weekends.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Are in the summertime.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I don't know, or maybe it's an intentional choice and
- 48:05Speaker 1: he's like, I got to be grown up in this show.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Totally.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Finally, before we or totally wrap it up, I just
- 48:12Speaker 1: want to say that I'm fully in on this show.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Me too.
- 48:16Speaker 2: It is more than I expected.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Uh huh, I agree. I thought it was a really
- 48:20Speaker 1: good episode. I'm in too, and give me more, baby, Jimma.
- 48:25Speaker 1: That's episode one of In the City. Welcome to New York.
