- 0:01Speaker 1: Mark Simon, we're looking for Steve Moore. What a shot? Huh,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Now he'll turn up. I'll bet you we find him then.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I don't want to predict, but I bet you we'll
- 0:17Speaker 1: find him. So hey, if you want a luxury home,
- 0:22Speaker 1: how much you have to spend a luxury home? What's
- 0:25Speaker 1: considered a luxury home? How much? A million dollars? No,
- 0:30Speaker 1: that won't do it anymore. It used to, but according
- 0:35Speaker 1: to realtor dot com, a million dollars will no longer
- 0:38Speaker 1: buy a luxury home in America anymore. A new analysis
- 0:42Speaker 1: shows one point three million, at least one point three
- 0:46Speaker 1: million starting point for a luxury home, and that they
- 0:50Speaker 1: could what they call luxury home is if it's in
- 0:52Speaker 1: the top ten percent of the home listings. But to
- 0:55Speaker 1: get in the top ten percent, you now need to
- 0:57Speaker 1: spend one point three million. Just ten years ago, it
- 1:01Speaker 1: was eight hundred thousand. Now if you want to get
- 1:04Speaker 1: in the top one percent, got to be five and
- 1:09Speaker 1: a half million. And obviously geography is a factor. It's
- 1:13Speaker 1: different in different areas, so prices and you know, prices
- 1:18Speaker 1: keep going up here in New York. I know the Brithings, Well,
- 1:21Speaker 1: everybody's gonna flee if Mom Donnie comes in and it's
- 1:23Speaker 1: going to cause a real estate crash. Prices are going
- 1:26Speaker 1: up every day for rentals, for sales everywhere. Well, we
- 1:30Speaker 1: got Steve Moore, the great economist. Get his book, The
- 1:33Speaker 1: Trump Economic Miracle. Check out. He runs the Committee to
- 1:37Speaker 1: Unleashed Prosperity. Go to the website. Sign up for the
- 1:39Speaker 1: daily briefing, best news and analysis. Just go to Unleash
- 1:43Speaker 1: Prosperity dot com. Steve Moore, how you doing well?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Hey, Mark, Good to be with you. And a terrible
- 1:50Speaker 2: because you know the I just can't sleep at night
- 1:52Speaker 2: because the Labor Department and the Education Department are closed down.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I mean, how am I going to go forward?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah? Hey, don't you know.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We's got dollars hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands
- 2:02Speaker 2: of these quote non essential you know, that's their term,
- 2:05Speaker 2: non essential government employees. And we've got we've got an
- 2:08Speaker 2: enterprise here that's losing two trillion dollars a year. Hmm.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Maybe Russell bow is right, Maybe we just do away
- 2:14Speaker 2: with all these non essential people and we can move
- 2:17Speaker 2: to a balanced budget.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, people forget we have a government shutdown
- 2:21Speaker 1: every week five o'clock Friday night. They shut down for.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Two days exactly. Well, you know the funny thing is,
- 2:27Speaker 2: I guess it's funny, but you know, every I think,
- 2:30Speaker 2: as you know, Mark, every Friday morning, the first Friday
- 2:33Speaker 2: of every month, at eight three in the morning, I'm
- 2:37Speaker 2: with Maria about Aroma. Who does the jobs report? You
- 2:40Speaker 2: know when the big jobs number comes out. They're not
- 2:42Speaker 2: going to do it tomorrow.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Did you know that?
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's I've been told that there will not be a
- 2:47Speaker 2: jobs report because they can't I guess count when the
- 2:50Speaker 2: government to shut down. So we'll we will see about that.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But look, this is this is the Schumer shutdown. You're
- 2:57Speaker 2: there in New York, so you've got a lot of
- 2:59Speaker 2: New York voters there. Schumer wanted the shutdown. I said
- 3:02Speaker 2: this a couple of weeks ago, that Schumer was going
- 3:04Speaker 2: to shut the government down. That's exactly what he has done.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But it's not working for the Democrats. I don't think Mark.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I mean, I'm talking to his normal people all the time.
- 3:11Speaker 2: They're like, why are the Democrats doing this? Is it
- 3:14Speaker 2: really because they just want to provide free healthcare the
- 3:16Speaker 2: legal immigrants.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Now they'll say that's a lie. It's a Republican lie,
- 3:20Speaker 1: but tell us the truth. It does.
- 3:22Speaker 2: But it's not a lie. I mean is I read
- 3:25Speaker 2: the text of their version and it repeals the provision
- 3:30Speaker 2: in the Republican budget that says you are not permitted
- 3:34Speaker 2: that Medicaid dollars can only go to people who are
- 3:37Speaker 2: either legal citizens or legal immigrants in the country. So
- 3:41Speaker 2: that pretty much leaves illegal immigrants out.
- 3:45Speaker 1: But I was watching Morning Joe, and according to him,
- 3:48Speaker 1: you guys, you're just all to give money to billionaires.
- 3:52Speaker 1: That's all the care, right.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Though he doesn't say the billionaires are playing more of
- 3:57Speaker 2: the taxes than ever before in American history. Top one
- 4:00Speaker 2: percent pay a larger share of the tax of income
- 4:03Speaker 2: tax them anytime ever since we invented the income tax
- 4:07Speaker 2: and back in nineteen thirteen. So those are just those
- 4:10Speaker 2: are just talking points from the Democrats. But I just
- 4:13Speaker 2: don't get it. I mean, I think Schumer's kind of
- 4:16Speaker 2: thing is is back learned. He lost, as you know,
- 4:19Speaker 2: he lost three Democratic senators in the vote that happened
- 4:22Speaker 2: before that, and I think if you had another vote,
- 4:24Speaker 2: he'd probably lose another three or four. And again, I
- 4:27Speaker 2: want to make sure people understand this Mark because you know,
- 4:30Speaker 2: we have byzantine rules in Washington. So people say, well, look,
- 4:33Speaker 2: the Republicans don't call the House the Senate and the
- 4:35Speaker 2: White House. Why is the government shut down? It's because
- 4:38Speaker 2: it takes sixty votes in the Senate, sixty out of
- 4:40Speaker 2: one hundred to pass the budget. And all the Republicans
- 4:44Speaker 2: and three Democrats voted for that. But that only brought
- 4:47Speaker 2: us to what fifty five or fifty six, So that's
- 4:50Speaker 2: why there's still five votes are short. But I bet
- 4:52Speaker 2: if they had a vote tomorrow, I think you'd be
- 4:55Speaker 2: getting close to sixty. Because the Democrats are getting hammered
- 4:58Speaker 2: on this. Nobody understands what it is that they're after here.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It's just show voting and trying to embarrass Trump and
- 5:04Speaker 2: trying to get more money. And by the way, I'm
- 5:06Speaker 2: very pro immigration. I think immigrants are great, but.
- 5:08Speaker 1: No, not.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You can't let all these people come into the country
- 5:11Speaker 2: and then go to the go and use our healthcare
- 5:14Speaker 2: services and you and I pay for it. Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: No, we love immigration. We just don't like illegals. I mean,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I love, exactly love I love pharmacists, but I don't
- 5:22Speaker 1: like you illegal drug dealers.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I mean.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Exactly apparently there is a vote tomorrow eleven am. That's
- 5:30Speaker 1: when they may vote again tomorrow.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Okay, and I'll bet you I don't know if they'll
- 5:35Speaker 2: get to sixty, but they're going to get close because
- 5:37Speaker 2: the Democrats are feeling the anger of the American people.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And by the way, this does cost money. That's the
- 5:43Speaker 2: other thing that rush Bott is saying is like, well,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you know, when we have these non essential people not
- 5:49Speaker 2: go to the office, did you know.
- 5:51Speaker 1: They get paid? Yeah, everybody, they.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Still get paid. Showing off for not having to work costs.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I wish my bosses said that you cannot show up
- 5:59Speaker 2: with us tomorrow, but I'm still gonna pay you. Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Hey, Steve Moore, let me ask you something. You're a
- 6:05Speaker 1: brilliant economist. We've got great economists, you, Art Laugher, Larry Cudlow,
- 6:09Speaker 1: Steve Forbes. Then you got forty thousand other economists. They
- 6:13Speaker 1: never know what the hell they're talking about, and they're
- 6:15Speaker 1: always wrong. Why is that?
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we had something in our hotline this morning
- 6:20Speaker 2: about that, and if you want to get that for free,
- 6:22Speaker 2: focus go down leash past thirty dot com and sign.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Up for free.
- 6:25Speaker 2: But we looked at the the forecast of all the
- 6:29Speaker 2: blue chip economists, all the smartest economsts at all the
- 6:31Speaker 2: big you know, banks and investment firms and so on,
- 6:34Speaker 2: the ones that are paid a million dollars a year
- 6:36Speaker 2: to come up with these forecasts, and they are the
- 6:39Speaker 2: blue chip. All the blue chip forecasts. There was almost
- 6:41Speaker 2: no exceptions. They all basically, Oh, we're gonna have one
- 6:44Speaker 2: and a half percent economic growth this year, blah blah blah.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Guess what, both in the second and third quarter we
- 6:49Speaker 2: had a close to four percent growth. How could they
- 6:51Speaker 2: be more wrong? I mean, I would take it's almost
- 6:54Speaker 2: like playing pin the tail on the donkey with the
- 6:57Speaker 2: blindfolded person and you know, trying to put I mean,
- 7:00Speaker 2: their projections have been completely wrong, and the economy's done
- 7:03Speaker 2: much better this year than almost all of the economy.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Remember Paul Kruman over that one, he said, oh my god,
- 7:10Speaker 2: we're gonna have a second great depression of Trump goes
- 7:12Speaker 2: back into office. Well, I don't know. I looked at
- 7:15Speaker 2: the stock markets doing pretty well.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Well. You know, I can understand the New York Times
- 7:19Speaker 1: hiring a total sleazy, biased economist, But if you're a
- 7:23Speaker 1: big Wall Street firm, you got to get it right.
- 7:26Speaker 2: How can we got it all wrong?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Don't you have to fire the economists to get it?
- 7:29Speaker 1: I mean baseball manager gets fired if you lose too
- 7:31Speaker 1: many games.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Exactly. No. But that's the thing about you know, the
- 7:35Speaker 2: the economics and politics is it doesn't matter how much
- 7:38Speaker 2: many times you're wrong, you know. I mean people have
- 7:40Speaker 2: written whole books about Paul Krugman about almost every prediction
- 7:44Speaker 2: you ever made. You know, he remembers he said Internet,
- 7:46Speaker 2: that's just a passing fan.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Remember that one the dumbest guy ever. Doesn't he have
- 7:53Speaker 1: a Nobel price.
- 7:55Speaker 2: He does, he has a Nobel Prize in economics. So
- 7:57Speaker 2: that's you know who deserves By the way, since this
- 8:00Speaker 2: is Nobel time, you know the guy who really does
- 8:03Speaker 2: deserve the Nobel Prize, who's probably the most influential living economy.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean I don't think probably, I think certainly is
- 8:09Speaker 2: the most impactful economists over the last you know, twenty
- 8:13Speaker 2: five years all over the world is out there laugher
- 8:18Speaker 2: and he still doesn't have a he doesn't have a
- 8:19Speaker 2: Nobel prize yet.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Well, he's got to be Trump bashing and he's got
- 8:24Speaker 1: to be much.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Exact he did that, he'd get that Nobel Prize in
- 8:27Speaker 2: five minutes.
