- 0:00Speaker 1: Obviously, I think the big story for me is the
- 0:03Speaker 1: number of penalties we got. I think we got in
- 0:06Speaker 1: the box. And it's not, first of all, you get
- 0:09Speaker 1: in the box seven times against that kind of a
- 0:11Speaker 1: power play, you'll get hurt. But it's more, or it's
- 0:16Speaker 1: as well, the momentum we lost in our rotation. And
- 0:23Speaker 1: from the end of the first period until the third period,
- 0:26Speaker 1: we did not have one time we could go our
- 0:29Speaker 1: four lines right after the other one. That was a
- 0:34Speaker 1: lot of guys who could not get their rhythm, could
- 0:37Speaker 1: get our physicality, our pace, our forecheck going. We played
- 0:42Speaker 1: better in the third period where we had the opportunity
- 0:45Speaker 1: to get going and have some rhythm. We need to
- 0:48Speaker 1: learn on that discipline as well. I think Veg played
- 0:55Speaker 1: really good. I'm happy he's back at back on track. And, uh,
- 1:00Speaker 1: that's what I think. Logan was discussing how you guys
- 1:03Speaker 1: really weren't giving them much when it was even strength.
- 1:05Speaker 1: What were you seeing on the defensive end? Yeah, that's, that's,
- 1:09Speaker 1: that's exactly that. I think we, we got a clean
- 1:11Speaker 1: five or six score and changed up five on five.
- 1:14Speaker 1: So that's pretty elite to be honest against a great
- 1:18Speaker 1: team like that. But yeah, that's, that's a positive part
- 1:24Speaker 1: of it. Obviously, um, We had a great chance where
- 1:28Speaker 1: we could not bury, we could not close the deal.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But the big thing is you play against an elite
- 1:35Speaker 1: team like that, you cannot have any part of your
- 1:38Speaker 1: game fall apart like our discipline did. We know there's
- 1:43Speaker 1: a healthy balance of emotion in games like this, but
- 1:45Speaker 1: what did you think of the team as a whole
- 1:47Speaker 1: and the emotion category? Honestly, I think it was all right.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It was tough to save and kill. But I think
- 1:58Speaker 1: we stay focused for the long part. Like I said,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's really tough. It's a lot of adversity when you
- 2:06Speaker 1: get that many penalties to stay in the game. You know,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you guys like H-Line, who's been really good, at some
- 2:14Speaker 1: point they could not play. They've been sitting on there
- 2:18Speaker 1: for a while, for a long time, and other guys
- 2:21Speaker 1: who play only PK for most of the second period.
- 2:24Speaker 1: They didn't play much at five on five, maybe one
- 2:26Speaker 1: or two shifts. It's tough when you don't have the
- 2:29Speaker 1: opportunity to get in the rhythm of the game, and
- 2:32Speaker 1: that's self-inflicted. I'm not deflecting. We take responsibility on that,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and we need to learn from it. You mentioned Veg. Obviously,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I know the score wasn't probably what he would have wanted,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but how important is a game like that if he
- 2:47Speaker 1: wasn't in the groove to have for him? Absolutely. Give
- 2:49Speaker 1: us a chance for a long time. I think they
- 2:50Speaker 1: beat him... really, really good play, you know, it's, and
- 2:56Speaker 1: our PK was solid, you'll tell me, give two goals, yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 1: they had to take a perfect shot to score their
- 3:02Speaker 1: first goal, and the second goal, we blew it, blew
- 3:07Speaker 1: a tire, and that's the kind of thing, it's unfortunate,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but it was not a structured thing, and it's just,
- 3:13Speaker 1: just really, really unfortunate, because we were right there where
- 3:16Speaker 1: it went shut away. What's the conversation like when your
- 3:19Speaker 1: captain takes an extra penalty like that, and it costs
- 3:21Speaker 1: the team a goal? Yeah, I think you need to
- 3:24Speaker 1: look at the circumstance. Were you emotional up there? Did
- 3:29Speaker 1: you think everything was going well? And did you agree
- 3:32Speaker 1: with everything was happening? I didn't think that was a
- 3:35Speaker 1: soft call. Apparently Kel stopped the same. And, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 1: at some point, you want... Surely I want him to
- 3:46Speaker 1: control his emotion, and I don't want that penalty. But
- 3:50Speaker 1: if you look at... All the circumstances that lead to that,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I think we were all frustrated. So I was standing
- 4:00Speaker 1: up on the bench. There was a level of frustration.
- 4:06Speaker 1: You mentioned that practice today, that Liam O'Brien would really
- 4:09Speaker 1: hype your team up and start your team up. Do
- 4:12Speaker 1: you think he accomplished that today? Yeah, he had a
- 4:14Speaker 1: good fight. He was put in an extremely tough situation,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I think. At the beginning of the game, we needed
- 4:21Speaker 1: a little bit of spark. We didn't have the momentum early.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He had a good fight. He did what he had
- 4:26Speaker 1: to do. But then after, he was a victim of
- 4:29Speaker 1: the circumstance. He didn't play for a full period. To
- 4:33Speaker 1: my knowledge, I think it's the first time it happened
- 4:35Speaker 1: to me behind the bench where he did not have
- 4:39Speaker 1: one full rotation where he got caught in the crossfire
- 4:43Speaker 1: and didn't get one shift in the second. So, just
- 4:47Speaker 1: the way it happened with the power play penalty on
- 4:49Speaker 1: both sides and the power play PK, so that's unfortunate.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's tough. You don't play for 12 games. You get in,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you get a good fight, and then after you sit
- 4:57Speaker 1: for 25, 26 minutes. It's tough. I'm just curious as
- 5:02Speaker 1: a coach, what goes through your mind when you see
- 5:04Speaker 1: three of your guys fight in a single game? I
- 5:06Speaker 1: like that. I like that a ton. I think it
- 5:09Speaker 1: showed our pride. It showed... We said it. Many of
- 5:14Speaker 1: the physical team were... There's a level of physicality, frustration
- 5:21Speaker 1: when you play against them. When I say frustration, I
- 5:24Speaker 1: should not say frustration. I should say it's emotional. You're
- 5:27Speaker 1: into it. You're competing hard. So there's a little bit
- 5:31Speaker 1: of bad blood at times. So stuff happens. And I
- 5:35Speaker 1: think the fact we hold our ground, we stood right there,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and we pushed back, I like that a lot. Thanks, Coach.
