- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Annie.
- 0:06Speaker 2: And Samantha.
- 0:07Speaker 1: And welcome to Stuff I've Never Told You, a production
- 0:08Speaker 1: of iHeartRadio.
- 0:18Speaker 3: And welcome to another edition of Happy Hour. Okay, y'all,
- 0:22Speaker 3: so a peek behind the curtains. We're recording day of
- 0:26Speaker 3: release because There's too much.
- 0:29Speaker 2: That was happening. I needed a moment. I needed a moment.
- 0:32Speaker 3: And I was like, Annie, I have to wait to
- 0:34Speaker 3: see what happens with this midterm elections. And just putting
- 0:37Speaker 3: a timestamp here, just in case you don't listen to
- 0:40Speaker 3: it as soon as it's released. I mean, why wouldn't you?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Come on now.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Just kidding.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It is November 5th, 2026. And yes, we probably had
- 0:48Speaker 3: one of the biggest, biggest ordeals of midterm elections. So
- 0:54Speaker 3: there's a lot to talk about. But today... We want
- 0:56Speaker 3: to talk about our feels. We're going to get into
- 0:58Speaker 3: our feels. So it's not a bitch and wine this
- 1:00Speaker 3: time around. So I didn't warn you.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We don't need wine.
- 1:04Speaker 3: It is a debrief and a little bit like celebratory
- 1:11Speaker 3: because I feel like we've not had enough of that.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Like we've been scrounging for joy. And for the first
- 1:17Speaker 3: time in a very long time, it kind of is
- 1:21Speaker 3: flooding us. with an opportunity to actually take it in.
- 1:24Speaker 3: So that's what we wanted to do today. So if
- 1:26Speaker 3: you're listening for this happy hour, do so responsibly, whatever
- 1:29Speaker 3: happy hour thing you might be doing. If it's just
- 1:32Speaker 3: listening to us and cleaning, wonderful. Hope you're getting your
- 1:35Speaker 3: tasks done. Go back to what you were doing. Stop
- 1:37Speaker 3: getting sidetracked. That's what happens to me. I get sidetracked
- 1:39Speaker 3: all of a sudden. So go back to your thing,
- 1:41Speaker 3: listen to us. But Annie, are you doing anything happy hour-ish?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Well, it may not be a b * * * * * * wine,
- 1:47Speaker 1: but I bought the wine anyway.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Celebrating wine.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Celebrating wine. We can do both.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I am drinking my bubble water because, yeah, I get sleepy.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I did drink on the night of the election. So
- 2:07Speaker 3: I thought it would be interesting because we kind of
- 2:09Speaker 3: talked about this previously of what we do and how
- 2:11Speaker 3: we try to prepare and cope, especially since 2016, when
- 2:16Speaker 3: things went downhill very quickly for a lot of us.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It's been a slippery slope. And then we had another
- 2:22Speaker 3: disheartening moment with Kemp and Stacey Abrams here in Georgia,
- 2:26Speaker 3: because we had such high hopes for Stacey Abrams, who
- 2:30Speaker 3: really has done so much for politics and especially Georgia.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I think we have to give her her due.
- 2:36Speaker 3: But with that, like, we've come to a point of
- 2:39Speaker 3: being really, really cautious about And very anxious.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Would you say that's the correct way to describe it? Yes. Oh, yes.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And I was with you during the 2020 election, and
- 2:51Speaker 4: I couldn't stop throwing up because I was so anxious.
- 2:55Speaker 4: And then at the night of the election, I was
- 2:57Speaker 4: so anxious. I had like a very big panic attack.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So yeah, I would say that's an accurate statement.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'm trying to think back on it. I can't remember
- 3:06Speaker 3: it at all. I can't remember what I did. My
- 3:09Speaker 3: mind is blank. We weren't in the new house yet,
- 3:12Speaker 3: were we?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Back in the 2020 election, we were not.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I live with you. That was not in your new house.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It was your old apartment. Yeah. I was violently ill.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I cannot remember it.
- 3:26Speaker 5: We watched the Star Wars, the weird Ewok movies.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Boutique, like your character.
- 3:37Speaker 4: You really like.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yes, I did like that one.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That was to distract me.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess we were trying to make sure. Yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 3: we were trying to like do things. I do, I
- 3:47Speaker 3: vaguely remember it. I have man, I don't doubt. I mean,
- 3:49Speaker 3: that was like a better, I put that in quotes, election.
- 3:52Speaker 4: That was a strange one because it was during COVID.
- 3:55Speaker 4: So the results, it took a while to come in.
- 3:58Speaker 4: So even after I left and went back home, we
- 4:01Speaker 4: weren't sure what the results were going to be.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But for those recent midterms, the panic attack was.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you have a panic attack this one?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 4:14Speaker 6: No.
- 4:15Speaker 3: So I definitely, the entire day, I looked like I
- 4:20Speaker 3: was on drugs, kind of in that sense of, like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I was just everywhere.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I was everywhere.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Like, I was bouncing from place to place to place.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I was hyper, like, over the top. I'm distracted pretty easily.
- 4:32Speaker 3: But typically, I'm a sit-down distracted. Like I'm going to
- 4:34Speaker 3: be distracted by my phone or like, you know, something
- 4:37Speaker 3: completely different, but not like jump around and do things.
- 4:40Speaker 2: That's not my go-to.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I wish it were.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I would be more productive.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And this is when I was like cleaning and walking
- 4:46Speaker 3: around and looking at things and going outside and doing
- 4:49Speaker 3: these things. I was so anxious because I really did
- 4:53Speaker 3: not know where this was going to go. there's, like,
- 4:57Speaker 3: everybody was saying different things, whether those Republicans were, like,
- 5:00Speaker 3: the red wave, the blue wave, all of these things. And, like,
- 5:03Speaker 3: I hate these cliche sayings. But I kept thinking, like,
- 5:07Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know because I don't know
- 5:11Speaker 3: between the bots, between what I think seems hateful, between, like,
- 5:16Speaker 3: the big rage bait stuff.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I really could not figure out where we were going.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I didn't know because there was all these, like, heightened
- 5:25Speaker 3: sense of danger in voting, which was a tactic that
- 5:29Speaker 3: was used previously to be like, oh, they're going to
- 5:32Speaker 3: bring in armed people so that they could like discourage
- 5:35Speaker 3: people from voting, thinking that they were going to be
- 5:37Speaker 3: stopped or being confused. Like all of those things, I
- 5:40Speaker 3: was ready for whatever, like the fact that they were
- 5:43Speaker 3: talking about sending in the National Guard, which I didn't
- 5:46Speaker 3: go out the day of voting because you and I
- 5:49Speaker 3: voted early. But like my partner went and he went
- 5:53Speaker 3: in and out.
- 5:53Speaker 2: He was in and out.
- 5:54Speaker 3: So I was like, oh, well, it can't be. that
- 5:57Speaker 3: bad but i was anxious i really had no idea
- 6:05Speaker 3: what was going to happen did you have an inkling.
- 6:08Speaker 4: No and i think that's because we've been burned so
- 6:11Speaker 4: many times before uh i and i i hate it
- 6:17Speaker 4: but i i think it's a safety measure but i've
- 6:20Speaker 4: become really kind of closed off to you I don't know.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I don't trust these polls. I don't believe any of
- 6:28Speaker 4: that stuff. I believed people were angry, but I also
- 6:33Speaker 4: feel like there are some people that they just have
- 6:38Speaker 4: such a hang up about voting for the opposite party
- 6:41Speaker 4: that they would never. So there were some that I
- 6:48Speaker 4: was confident. I was pretty sure John Ossoff was going
- 6:51Speaker 4: to get reelected. Right.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But like a lot of them, no, I was not
- 6:56Speaker 1: confident at all.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Right.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I honestly, our governor, our governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms doesn't always,
- 7:05Speaker 3: doesn't really have a great track record in the state.
- 7:09Speaker 2: She has done what she could.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Like they did make up things that I even believed
- 7:13Speaker 3: for a minute that I had to be like, oh,
- 7:14Speaker 3: I have to retract that, that she didn't finish out
- 7:16Speaker 3: her term.
- 7:17Speaker 2: She did. She just didn't come back for reelection, which
- 7:20Speaker 2: is not typical. Right.
- 7:22Speaker 3: But she and our current mayor, Andre Dickens, were in
- 7:27Speaker 3: favor of Cop City, which we are, like, I say we, Annie,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I keep putting us in the we, but I'm pretty
- 7:34Speaker 3: sure we're on the we, are vehemently against any kind
- 7:37Speaker 3: of tactile things like that and reopening jails and prisons
- 7:41Speaker 3: that should not be open.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Stuff like that really bothered me.
- 7:45Speaker 3: So for a lot of us, who want to see
- 7:49Speaker 3: true change, like we want a Mandani level of change.
- 7:54Speaker 2: That's going to be my new verb.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You know, she isn't the most wonderful representative that we wanted.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I definitely voted for a different Democratic candidate previously, but,
- 8:05Speaker 3: you know, it came to be Keisha Lance Bond. Don't
- 8:07Speaker 3: get me wrong, because I voted for her and.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I would vote for her again. And there is joy
- 8:11Speaker 2: in knowing that we have changed.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And my hope is And I think this is going
- 8:16Speaker 3: to be a lot of us that we can hold
- 8:18Speaker 3: her accountable. And this is what we've been talking about
- 8:20Speaker 3: repeatedly and will continue to. Like, I don't mean to
- 8:24Speaker 3: be the pessimist, but we wanted someone that we can
- 8:30Speaker 3: have a conversation with for change and progress, not have
- 8:34Speaker 3: a fight with to try to keep us out of
- 8:37Speaker 3: the old ways, you know, the old racist, prejudiced ways,
- 8:41Speaker 3: which is what we've been in. And so this is
- 8:43Speaker 3: this is progress. I think I've seen it and I've
- 8:46Speaker 3: heard the term harm reduction votes. And I think that's
- 8:49Speaker 3: the actual really great way of seeing this. We're voting
- 8:53Speaker 3: for harm reduction at this point because we're so far
- 8:56Speaker 3: back and the harm has been immense. And I think
- 8:59Speaker 3: Keisha Lance Bottoms, I believe Keisha Lance Bottoms is that
- 9:02Speaker 3: person that can help reduce the harm. And we hope
- 9:05Speaker 3: that she can progress even further because she now has people.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Now we have people here in the state specifically that
- 9:12Speaker 3: can hold her.
- 9:12Speaker 2: To that level. Like, we are blue, Annie. How crazy
- 9:18Speaker 2: is that?
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yeah, and also just shout out to people in Texas
- 9:23Speaker 4: who have.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Been working so hard. Kansas, like, how are you feeling?
- 9:29Speaker 3: Texas, like, y'all hadn't even had an inkling yet. Like,
- 9:32Speaker 3: y'all are progressing, I feel like. We were so baby steps. Like,
- 9:35Speaker 3: we had one senator. Then we got two senators. And then, like,
- 9:40Speaker 3: the slow run. And then last year we got a
- 9:43Speaker 3: Republican public commissioner.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Slowly happening. And then all of a sudden, Texas is like, nah,
- 9:51Speaker 2: watch this. And they just ramped it. Everything's bigger in Texas. Apparently.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Y'all are killing it. And even with the awful redistricting.
- 9:59Speaker 3: and gerrymandering there and here in Georgia, South Carolina, come on, Mississippi?
- 10:05Speaker 3: There are two states in this country that I'm scared
- 10:09Speaker 3: to go through and try not to stop at.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Mississippi, I'm sorry, was one of them because it scares me.
- 10:15Speaker 2: The daylights out of me. Backwoods areas of South Carolina,
- 10:18Speaker 2: backwoods areas of Georgia. I'm like, nah, nah, nah. We're
- 10:23Speaker 2: going to stay out of here. However, hello, Kansas, Wisconsin.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I was just like, what? What is happening?
- 10:32Speaker 1: This is beautiful.
- 10:33Speaker 3: And we're actually going to do an episode on. for
- 10:36Speaker 3: this one for tomorrow if you are listening again in
- 10:39Speaker 3: the timeline as it's released, which some of you do.
- 10:42Speaker 3: The joy, the palpable, I was screaming into a pillow
- 10:47Speaker 3: because after, and I don't know what you did, because
- 10:49Speaker 3: you had a panic attack, so I kind of know
- 10:52Speaker 3: what you did. But I will say, for me, as
- 10:56Speaker 3: I'm freaking out, after Ossoff was called here, which, by
- 10:59Speaker 3: the way, and I've been waiting, 725, it was projected.
- 11:03Speaker 3: We were like, what?
- 11:04Speaker 2: They closed, just closed 25 minutes ago. By a lot.
- 11:11Speaker 3: The joy of seeing those numbers, I was like, okay,
- 11:14Speaker 3: I'm locked in. Because that was a shock. I knew,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I had a feeling he would win. If anybody would win,
- 11:19Speaker 3: it was going to be him. But I was like, what?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Already?
- 11:24Speaker 3: And so my partner and I started sitting down and
- 11:26Speaker 3: watching a little bit Cormackie. came through yeah of course
- 11:30Speaker 3: of course uh we watched him on youtube so we
- 11:32Speaker 3: got to watch all the behind the scenes um but
- 11:35Speaker 3: as we were watching and i was seeing all the
- 11:37Speaker 3: numbers i was like.
- 11:39Speaker 2: What is happening.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And then to see keisha lance bottoms her numbers rising
- 11:46Speaker 3: as quickly as it did y'all georgia voted for a
- 11:50Speaker 3: black woman Granted, it's because Black women showed up, like,
- 11:55Speaker 3: as they always continue to do.
- 11:58Speaker 2: And they are the ones putting the fight. But the
- 12:00Speaker 2: joy that I have in.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Knowing that our state is pretty much being ran by
- 12:06Speaker 3: Black women. Oh, my God. I have so much hope, Annie.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I was looking through the list. I was like, every
- 12:15Speaker 3: single one except for, like, two positions, I was like,
- 12:19Speaker 3: I want to cry. at the beauty of these pictures.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Yeah there was a because i watch a lot of
- 12:27Speaker 4: um comedy news segments and there was a a part
- 12:32Speaker 4: in one of them where they were just showing pictures
- 12:34Speaker 4: of people who won and i thought it was a
- 12:35Speaker 4: joke i thought it was like the onion it's like
- 12:38Speaker 4: oh never in that part of georgia never it's true
- 12:43Speaker 4: no yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Watching and seeing who won. The fact that Georgia now also,
- 13:03Speaker 3: Democrats also have control of the House of Representatives.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Oh, we have a Democratic governor. We have a Democratic house.
- 13:12Speaker 2: We got the secretary of state. Yeah. Is held by
- 13:16Speaker 2: a black woman.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Come on.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 4: And I have to tell you, I'm sure. You listeners
- 13:27Speaker 4: all across the U.S. have been bombarded by negative political ads,
- 13:31Speaker 4: but I have to tell you, it was wild ads
- 13:35Speaker 4: against the women running in Georgia.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And people were like, oh, not buying it.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The elections that I watched the most of, the ones,
- 13:44Speaker 2: of course, like I said, Mississippi shocked me to no end.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I was like, what's happening in Mississippi?
- 13:50Speaker 3: I did watch Angie Nixon based in Florida, and I'm
- 13:53Speaker 3: very sad that she lost, but she So close.
- 13:56Speaker 2: This is, and we're going to talk a bit about this.
- 13:59Speaker 3: To me, Florida kind of is like, I feel like
- 14:02Speaker 3: our younger sister or younger sibling and that you're doing great.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I know it doesn't feel like a win because technically
- 14:08Speaker 3: you didn't win. However, the progress that is being made
- 14:13Speaker 3: in Florida, in Florida, and that's like capital letters, Florida,
- 14:17Speaker 3: is amazing. And this is exactly what Georgia had to
- 14:20Speaker 3: go through as well. And again, Stacey Abrams was kind
- 14:23Speaker 3: of that lead for us. and having this conversation and
- 14:26Speaker 3: trying to like pick back up in so many ways
- 14:29Speaker 3: and like seeing what's happening with Florida. I was like, yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 3: this is similar. You're going to, it's going to get there.
- 14:36Speaker 3: It's going to get there. And y'all have done so
- 14:38Speaker 3: much work in Florida. It's exciting to see this continued
- 14:41Speaker 3: progress because they've made, they flipped so many seats in
- 14:45Speaker 3: the state legislation in Florida. I was also shocked that
- 14:48Speaker 3: they were able to do all of that. But the
- 14:50Speaker 3: races I was also watching was of course, Michigan, with
- 14:53Speaker 3: Abdul El-Sad, watching him win, and all the smear campaigns
- 14:59Speaker 3: that happened through everyone, because he is Muslim, and the
- 15:01Speaker 3: fact that he is a doctor, and the fact that
- 15:04Speaker 3: he came against RFK Jr., which, by the way, seeing
- 15:09Speaker 3: him win was a delight. Seeing Susan Collins lose?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I may have started screaming profanities at her. Not very
- 15:19Speaker 2: feminist of me, I know, but.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well, she hasn't been great for women.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So I had a lot of rage. So it came
- 15:27Speaker 2: out watching her lose.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And by the way, I didn't know this until later
- 15:32Speaker 3: about the fact that the person who was campaigning, Troy,
- 15:35Speaker 3: who won, last minute pickup.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yes, because there was a huge scandal.
- 15:50Speaker 2: The Democratic Party was like, yeah, we can't have that.
- 15:52Speaker 2: We're not allowing that. That's not on our watch.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And they scrapped it and started over very quickly and
- 15:58Speaker 3: still won.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That was delightful.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Watching the Ohio campaign with Amy Acton winning because of
- 16:07Speaker 3: the disgusting campaigns run against her. Honestly, though, I don't
- 16:13Speaker 3: think he was going to win anyway, but he really
- 16:17Speaker 3: nailed the coffin with that.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm wondering if we have some, like, agents.
- 16:24Speaker 3: That are participating in the Republican campaign being like, no,
- 16:28Speaker 3: this is.
- 16:28Speaker 2: The greatest idea ever.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Like sleeper agents. Which, by the way, is one of
- 16:34Speaker 4: my favorite new, I think it was Alex Jones. Yes.
- 16:38Speaker 1: He's like, oh, so Trump was a sleeper Democrat all along.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I believed him. I came from money. I'm like, bro.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Oh, my God, man.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Are you kidding?
- 16:50Speaker 1: I mean, he can do, but not in that way.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Not in that way. He doesn't care about politics. That's
- 16:55Speaker 2: what I think. And he's racist, so he should be
- 16:58Speaker 2: a Republican. Like, I think he's genuinely racist.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And misogynist. And a predator. So, you know, add that up.
- 17:06Speaker 2: And what is that equal to? I'm just kidding.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Watching that, of course, Tallarico in Texas was a beautiful
- 17:14Speaker 3: thing to see.
- 17:16Speaker 2: There were so many amazing moments. in this election that
- 17:21Speaker 2: I was just like, wow, I really didn't think this
- 17:23Speaker 2: was possible. I did. I assumed some good things.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: But not to this level.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I think I've been, yeah, like you said, we've been
- 17:32Speaker 3: so traumatized by previous elections that we just didn't think
- 17:37Speaker 3: it was possible.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And then seeing all of this has been glorious.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I will say after Ossoff won, I think as I
- 17:46Speaker 3: was watching Keisha's numbers go up, I was like, you
- 17:49Speaker 3: know what?
- 17:51Speaker 2: I need a drink.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I got your fancy shot soju glasses you sent me.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I was so excited. I'm like, oh, it's the time.
- 17:58Speaker 2: It's time to pull it out.
- 18:00Speaker 3: And we did our soju shots as we were sitting
- 18:02Speaker 3: there watching and seeing everything happen.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And it's interesting to see.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Of course, we're still waiting to see what's happening, I believe,
- 18:08Speaker 3: in Alaska and Mississippi. Looks like Alaska's leaning red, unfortunately. Okay,
- 18:15Speaker 3: so for the Senate, we're waiting for Alaska and Mississippi
- 18:18Speaker 3: to For House, it looks like we're looking at... Oh, yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 3: I did see this. Colorado, which is Lauren Boebert's area.
- 18:27Speaker 3: So we're waiting to see who will win in that.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Florida and North Carolina. And I think there's some governor.
- 18:34Speaker 3: But yeah, it's interesting to see how this has changed. I.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Like, my heart is settled back down. And I'm like,
- 18:42Speaker 2: you know, now we're in time for fix-it mode. We
- 18:44Speaker 2: need fix-it mode.
- 18:46Speaker 3: And to hunker down and to see how we can
- 18:49Speaker 3: hold these people accountable. Because it is very important that
- 18:52Speaker 3: we do so. But shout out to the peoples that
- 18:55Speaker 3: really did this. The young generation killed it. All right,
- 19:01Speaker 3: Gen Zers. Yeah. I knew you would be all right.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Of course, the black community really held up. showing that
- 19:10Speaker 3: our Latina voters are probably the flip, like the people
- 19:14Speaker 3: that are watching the hardest right now, because they are
- 19:17Speaker 3: the ones that kind of are the swing votes. Asian
- 19:21Speaker 3: community has jumped up.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Thank God.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I was like, I can't, I mean, like, it's still
- 19:25Speaker 3: not great, but at least like a 70% and more
- 19:28Speaker 3: that I was like, okay.
- 19:34Speaker 2: White women, no.
- 19:37Speaker 3: White men gave up on you a long time ago.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I think my partner is a good one. But yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 3: it's like, but it is interesting to watch. How do
- 19:49Speaker 3: you feel now?
- 19:51Speaker 4: I feel, it almost feels unbelievable. I thought there could
- 19:56Speaker 4: be some January 6th kind of thing that would happen.
- 20:00Speaker 4: So I was waiting for that too. So I feel
- 20:05Speaker 4: like I was preparing for so much bad that I
- 20:08Speaker 4: almost don't know what to do with myself but i
- 20:12Speaker 4: am cautiously hopeful that things will change and that you
- 20:18Speaker 4: know people will press for things to change because clearly
- 20:22Speaker 4: that's i would say that's the big thing that the
- 20:25Speaker 4: message i received was people are not happy with how
- 20:29Speaker 4: things are going so that's a cause for for pushing
- 20:35Speaker 4: to change.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Things yeah what did you do anything to celebrate I
- 20:41Speaker 5: think I had a glass of wine and went to
- 20:44Speaker 5: bed early. The panic attack really took it out of me.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I mean, fair. That's really fair.
- 20:51Speaker 4: But I woke up early and I watched a lot
- 20:53Speaker 4: of the results that way.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I think I did that with the last election, too,
- 21:00Speaker 4: because there's something about the anticipation.
- 21:03Speaker 1: For me, this is a case where, like, the spoilers
- 21:06Speaker 1: are good. Just tell me the outcome.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I get you.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I get you.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Like this real life, I need the spoilers. I typically
- 21:12Speaker 3: do that too. But this one had me on the
- 21:15Speaker 3: edge between watching like the numbers.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I was like, oh my God, because it was so close.
- 21:20Speaker 2: BT dubs.
- 21:22Speaker 3: So I was watching one TikTok because there's a mini,
- 21:25Speaker 3: you know, talking about the fact that because of these
- 21:27Speaker 3: massive changes, especially like in Georgia and the fact that
- 21:30Speaker 3: we have outnumbered and have grown in the democratic control.
- 21:35Speaker 3: That we could actually start talking about taking and changing
- 21:38Speaker 3: the electoral college and the way we vote.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And that being a possibility now.
- 21:43Speaker 1: That would be nice.
- 21:45Speaker 2: That would be massive.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Also, shout out to the states who voted to protect abortion. Yes.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Also, boo and tomatoes to those who decided to put
- 21:59Speaker 3: in anti-trans laws.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Always. You assholes. Anyway, yeah, no, there's some big, we're
- 22:07Speaker 2: going to talk about it in our upcoming episode about
- 22:11Speaker 2: some of that, because it wasn't actually a key issue. Surprisingly.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Maybe that's one of the reasons that it helped.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I know there was that quote from, I think
- 22:30Speaker 4: it was Republican in Texas that was like, we're running
- 22:32Speaker 4: all these transgender attack ads and they're just not working.
- 22:36Speaker 1: People don't care.
- 22:37Speaker 2: That's right, South Carolina. That was crazy. There was some
- 22:42Speaker 2: crazy stuff happening in those ads. I was like, what
- 22:45Speaker 2: is Lindsey Graham's sister doing?
- 22:47Speaker 1: That's right.
- 22:48Speaker 2: She doesn't get a name.
- 22:52Speaker 1: We barely knew ye.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Thank God. These memes and these tweets.
- 23:05Speaker 2: We're all going to hell, but I'm enjoying it.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Also, appreciation to people from other countries.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yes. There's so many who are congratulating and crying for us.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 4: And also, if you're listening to this and you're kind
- 23:20Speaker 4: of like, I don't really know who you're talking about,
- 23:22Speaker 4: but I get the vibe.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Thank you. Google them. It's ridiculous.
- 23:29Speaker 2: All right, y'all. That's it. But cheers. We are excited
- 23:32Speaker 2: about being able to go to our regular content before
- 23:37Speaker 2: I came on. No, I guess it was during when
- 23:39Speaker 2: I came on. It was like all downhill stuff that
- 23:41Speaker 2: we're like, we got to fight. And then for like
- 23:43Speaker 2: about four years, we're like, we got to try to
- 23:46Speaker 2: bring it back up. All right. Hopefully, we're going to
- 23:49Speaker 2: have good news to share. Yes. We're going to have
- 23:52Speaker 2: more victories.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yeah. And really, thanks to all the work people did.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And congrats.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Congratulations to states who this is new to because i
- 24:02Speaker 4: remember when georgia flipped and i.
- 24:03Speaker 6: Was like wow yes that feeling that joy yeah it's
- 24:10Speaker 6: a delight and obviously we're with you because like still
- 24:14Speaker 6: we got an added plus that we didn't know we
- 24:16Speaker 6: would have yeah.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Exactly from purple to blue no state is guaranteed i
- 24:22Speaker 4: i i firmly believe that even states you'd never guess
- 24:25Speaker 4: so and and to states like Florida who are doing
- 24:28Speaker 4: all that work and didn't flip.
- 24:29Speaker 1: But, you know, you've made all that progress. Yeah. It's good.
- 24:34Speaker 6: Yeah. All right.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Hey, and let us know about what's happening in your
- 24:41Speaker 3: area if we left, like, just about how you handled everything,
- 24:45Speaker 3: what your thoughts are. And if you're in Florida, if
- 24:48Speaker 3: you're in the red states who have been fighting to
- 24:51Speaker 3: try to push for equity and feel a little discouraged,
- 24:54Speaker 3: let us know how you're feeling because we're with you.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Because we know this fight is hard, but you got this.
- 25:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yes, we would love to hear from you. And from
- 25:03Speaker 1: people around the.
