- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Justin Katz. My name
- 0:11Speaker 2: is Michael Bennett. On this Monday, April twenty seventh, it
- 0:16Speaker 2: is DERBYR twenty sixth. Right now, Justin Kaylen is joining me.
- 0:20Speaker 2: As if you hadn't been around, I don't know why
- 0:22Speaker 2: you haven't. He's been on the radio for the last hour,
- 0:26Speaker 2: and it's been kind of weird because this is we
- 0:29Speaker 2: We got to get a longer extension. I gotta move
- 0:31Speaker 2: around here when I'm as far as you can go, exactly,
- 0:34Speaker 2: and I need to move around and talk to people
- 0:36Speaker 2: because you know, when we're at the backside, I like
- 0:39Speaker 2: talking around people, walking by random people. I mean, at
- 0:42Speaker 2: least do we have a mic Oh we have a microphone? Good? Good,
- 0:45Speaker 2: cause you know we're gonna have a lot of guests
- 0:48Speaker 2: on this week. Some we know, some we have no
- 0:50Speaker 2: idea who they are because I'm just gonna pick random people.
- 0:54Speaker 2: How are y'all doing I'm we're only on the radio,
- 0:56Speaker 2: so I hope y'all are doing it. I wish you'd
- 0:59Speaker 2: get you a donut and some coffee. By the way, No, no, no, no,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm all good. I wish i'd like coffee. I just
- 1:08Speaker 2: like the smell of it. Y'all have fun, say that's
- 1:12Speaker 2: what happens. That's that's what I like doing. Is it?
- 1:15Speaker 2: When you're at the backside of Churchill down servery week
- 1:18Speaker 2: you would have come talked to random people because you
- 1:20Speaker 2: never know where these people there walk alife or anything.
- 1:23Speaker 2: You know is we're looking right here the Twin spires
- 1:25Speaker 2: in our background. Uh. You got Dallas Steward up there
- 1:28Speaker 2: on the stand watching his horses go by. There goes
- 1:31Speaker 2: mine right there by the way. So anyway, I just
- 1:36Speaker 2: I enjoy this week. I get hyper for this week,
- 1:40Speaker 2: and then I don't mean to, but we got a
- 1:43Speaker 2: lot to talk about.
- 1:44Speaker 3: By the way, it's a weird Can I just say
- 1:46Speaker 3: how much weird of a vibe it is back here today?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Why do you say it's a weird vibe?
- 1:49Speaker 3: So typically the Derby horses don't come out until seven
- 1:53Speaker 3: thirty seven to fifteen. Today they came out at seven fifteen.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Every day they came out seventeen ten.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Years past though, oh okay, and so the crowd hangs
- 2:02Speaker 3: out a little longer, whereas this year it was seven fifteen.
- 2:05Speaker 3: And it's pretty dead out right.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Look at this guy right here. You know you know
- 2:08Speaker 2: who this is, Jerry Eves. Jerry Eves is one of
- 2:11Speaker 2: my best friends. I've known him all my life. By
- 2:14Speaker 2: the way, all my life i've known this guy. He
- 2:19Speaker 2: taught me how to play basketball when I was twelve
- 2:21Speaker 2: years old. You still look good, though, what's that till
- 2:30Speaker 2: you make it exactly exactly?
- 2:32Speaker 3: We're Michael, I have a microphone. I want to give
- 2:36Speaker 3: him a micro yew. There you go.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You got to come on the radio with us for
- 2:39Speaker 2: a little bit, because I know you've got Eves Sports
- 2:41Speaker 2: radio that comes on. I don't mind advertising, I know,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and I miss that. I miss those days of us
- 2:49Speaker 2: being together on the radio. But it's not on, is
- 2:52Speaker 2: it justin?
- 2:53Speaker 3: Come on?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Man, Oh my god, listen.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Try again.
- 2:57Speaker 2: There we go. Now we're on. Now we're on. Thought
- 2:59Speaker 2: I followed you. We fought, Yeah we did. I don't
- 3:01Speaker 2: know if we fought or not. I'm not gonna fight you.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I mean, I love you. You're your pet. Yes, I
- 3:06Speaker 2: know my car. But that's okay. It's okay that you're
- 3:10Speaker 2: I swept you. It's okay.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Jerry rub it In about the portal recruiting, rub it in.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The phone said what what portal?
- 3:18Speaker 3: What recruiting?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Right, They're gonna steal player from Dewan. This is this
- 3:27Speaker 2: is just the cats, not just the cards. Okay, I'm
- 3:30Speaker 2: sorry I had to stopped by. Now I'm telling you.
- 3:33Speaker 4: On the radio today, I'm on seven eight. Someone asked me,
- 3:37Speaker 4: watch out, we're about to call to Wan we get
- 3:39Speaker 4: some of your Simmons players. I said, no, I pay
- 3:41Speaker 4: them too well.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Well back in the day, though, I mean when when
- 3:48Speaker 2: you were being recruited. You know today everybody's getting paid
- 3:52Speaker 2: back in when you were getting recruited by U of L.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I know Coach Hall was recruiting you as well to
- 3:57Speaker 2: come to UK.
- 3:58Speaker 4: No, Joe didn't recruit me.
- 4:00Speaker 2: That's just I thought he did. Okay, I apologize.
- 4:04Speaker 4: They wanted Dirk. Okay, they really didn't recruit Vince Taylor
- 4:07Speaker 4: that hard either. Vince Guy came out the year before, Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 4: Dirt came out the year after.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, how much money did U of L give
- 4:15Speaker 2: you to go to U of L.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I'm still mad. I'm still the only thing I'm mad
- 4:20Speaker 4: at Coach Trump is about No, Coach I never got
- 4:22Speaker 4: my name everything.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Like.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I just remember nineteen eighty two, right, super Dome first,
- 4:29Speaker 4: excuse me in New Orleans, right, eighty thousand people, seventy
- 4:34Speaker 4: two thousand people, everyone remembers. That's on first time ever. Yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 4: nineteen eighty four they sell the naming rights. The colleges
- 4:41Speaker 4: did nineteen eighty four. Since eighty four, they made millions
- 4:45Speaker 4: of dollars. Yeah, yeah, they made billions of dollars. And
- 4:47Speaker 4: you can take Jim Host for all of them again.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Who's a dear friend.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I know he is. Come on, he helped build the
- 4:58Speaker 2: young city. He's a friend. He did.
- 5:00Speaker 4: He was right alongside with coach Houston's wife. Yes, all
- 5:04Speaker 4: about you?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I like him. But I know, man, come on,
- 5:08Speaker 2: how couldn't you just I love you and you're a
- 5:10Speaker 2: U of L guy? Come on now, but you like
- 5:13Speaker 2: me a little bit? Young Kentucky's campus before you, I
- 5:17Speaker 2: know you were with my brother.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I was running around Kentucky's campus my older brother.
- 5:23Speaker 4: When to Kentucky you played football. People don't know that.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't remember this, but nineteen eighty eighty one
- 5:31Speaker 2: something like that. He's doing a basketball camp at my school,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Kentucky Country Day, and I'm there taking the camp with him.
- 5:38Speaker 4: And he wasn't doing the camp.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Derek Smith was okay, well you were there, you were there.
- 5:43Speaker 2: You He kept giving me a hard time because I
- 5:44Speaker 2: wore nothing but UK up and down.
- 5:48Speaker 4: And one and only.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fun having you there. You made an
- 5:53Speaker 2: impression on me that I It's like, even though you
- 5:55Speaker 2: played for the Dirty Birds, I knew I liked you
- 5:57Speaker 2: the Great Birds. Yeah, yeah, okay, it's always fun having
- 6:04Speaker 2: you on. You're my friend, all right, Yeah, we go
- 6:07Speaker 2: way back. Yes we do, Yes, we do do anything
- 6:10Speaker 2: for this guy right here.
- 6:11Speaker 4: I've got out again tonight.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Do I sweep the cats? Oh my god? All right,
- 6:17Speaker 2: take the mic.
- 6:20Speaker 4: No, I got a lot of cat fans. I was
- 6:24Speaker 4: just handing out little broom. I think he's gonna do
- 6:30Speaker 4: a great job.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I do too. I'm very are you Are you a
- 6:34Speaker 2: little nervous? You know? When I talk to my good
- 6:36Speaker 2: friend the big Dog, he's like, yeah, yeah, we'll be okay.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And then, uh, you know somebody like you that's completely
- 6:42Speaker 2: unbiased about this hahaha, what do you think about will Stein?
- 6:46Speaker 2: And uh? And this this.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Is great higher Yeah, drastically different from coach Stoops, who
- 6:51Speaker 4: did a fantastic job.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yes, he did screw.
- 6:53Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not gonna roll over on coach Stoops. Right,
- 6:55Speaker 4: he took the program as far as he.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Could take it.
- 6:57Speaker 4: All coaches have a level. Yeah, it was time to
- 7:00Speaker 4: move on. But he's offensive minded. Stein Is You're gonna
- 7:02Speaker 4: bring in an innovative offense. I think it'll be fun
- 7:05Speaker 4: to watch. I just don't know if you Kentucky fans
- 7:07Speaker 4: will truly give him the time. That SEC, the Big
- 7:11Speaker 4: Ten rules the roost. We know that, yes, with the SEC.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Do you see that man's schedule, yeah, Bama. I mean
- 7:17Speaker 4: second game takes the A and m Worth takes the
- 7:19Speaker 4: n M game three Yeah, yeah, I mean it just
- 7:21Speaker 4: doesn't make sense. I know, it just doesn't make sense.
- 7:24Speaker 4: So to try to evaluate him next.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Year is just not fair.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I just hope Kentucky fans understand well.
- 7:30Speaker 2: As much patience as we gave Mark Stoops. I think
- 7:34Speaker 2: they will, at least I hope so. So we'll see
- 7:37Speaker 2: how it goes. But you know a lot of people
- 7:40Speaker 2: are picking him to at least get the six game.
- 7:43Speaker 4: That I don't.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I really do.
- 7:48Speaker 4: That's yes, just Cat fans want to be Cat fans.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, we want to win. I mean and he
- 7:54Speaker 2: comes in here, and will Stein has said all the
- 7:56Speaker 2: right things, and he is taking it uh to the
- 7:58Speaker 2: point where the cruits are buying into it as well.
- 8:01Speaker 2: The players are buying into it, and they're committing to
- 8:04Speaker 2: Kentucky and will Stein. I love what he's doing. I mean,
- 8:07Speaker 2: I really do. So far, it has been a massive
- 8:10Speaker 2: win for will Stein and his coaching staff at UK.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I just hope people.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Don't expect kurkick netty everywhere.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's tough. I mean, you're talking toy you
- 8:19Speaker 2: fan right here.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I just hope people don't expect that, yeah to happen.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that doesn't happen that that doesn't happen every thirty
- 8:28Speaker 2: years one, yeah, twenty seven and seven and two. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 2: and I you of all time, why I you? I mean,
- 8:37Speaker 2: of all places. No one would have ever figured.
- 8:40Speaker 4: That likeness has changed landscape.
- 8:43Speaker 2: It has. You're exactly great for true blue bloods.
- 8:47Speaker 4: It's a frightening thing. Yeah, because things are changed. Yeah yeah,
- 8:50Speaker 4: and you know, we'll just have to wait and see
- 8:52Speaker 4: where they go.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. It's always good having you all for a
- 8:55Speaker 2: few minutes. You're my brother, you're my friend. Yeah. Yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 2: even though I like Winston more than you. So just
- 9:01Speaker 2: to let you know, this is my brother, Okay, I
- 9:04Speaker 2: mean he always be I know you were, I know
- 9:11Speaker 2: you were all right, Jerry. Good to see Jerry. Always
- 9:15Speaker 2: take care buddy. All right, we'll talk to you soon.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I mean, how was that for a first segment of
- 9:19Speaker 2: this week at Derby? So tew you start, I know,
- 9:23Speaker 2: just because people are walking by. That's what I like
- 9:26Speaker 2: to do, and just stop random people. I'm afraid the
- 9:30Speaker 2: TV people down here are going to get mad at me.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I think they're thankful, but that's how can I stop laughing?
- 9:37Speaker 3: You know, when I first got here, it appeared that
- 9:40Speaker 3: we were going to be set up on that end
- 9:41Speaker 3: over the closer to the TV station. Yes, I said, no,
- 9:44Speaker 3: Michael Bennett's coming out. We can't. We gotta get as
- 9:47Speaker 3: far away.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Oh did you did you have us move down here?
- 9:50Speaker 3: This is where we typically set up, but they did
- 9:53Speaker 3: initially have us over there.
- 9:54Speaker 2: How did you switch it?
- 9:56Speaker 3: I'm good, good buddies, good boys with the guy that's
- 9:58Speaker 3: in chargeable.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Okay, well, congratulations for doing that so well, one of
- 10:02Speaker 2: these days we're gonna have some of the other media
- 10:04Speaker 2: members on here too. So I'm I'm looking forward to that,
- 10:07Speaker 2: but I'm trying to figure out I guess the Besides
- 10:11Speaker 2: Kentucky Derby, the big news of the day is the
- 10:15Speaker 2: fact that UK did get another commit over the weekend
- 10:19Speaker 2: and man basketball basketball really, yeah, where have you been?
- 10:24Speaker 3: I guess I missed that one totally. You know, I
- 10:26Speaker 3: meant to tell you this morning that I have no
- 10:28Speaker 3: idea what happened this weekend at all.
- 10:30Speaker 2: So what's that.
- 10:31Speaker 3: I meant to tell you this morning that I have
- 10:33Speaker 3: no idea what happened this weekning?
- 10:34Speaker 2: Where have you been this weekend?
- 10:35Speaker 3: I just I didn't pay attention to sports.
- 10:37Speaker 2: What were you doing?
- 10:38Speaker 3: Unplugged? I was playing videos, I was watching movies. I
- 10:42Speaker 3: was yeah, I just I was apart from the world.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I will say I did. I am plugged from a
- 10:48Speaker 2: lot of stuff, with the exception of Derby. I mean,
- 10:52Speaker 2: so I got out here. Let's see last Thursday morning
- 10:54Speaker 2: at four five o'clock, I got out here. Friday morning,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I didn't know. I didn't come fright, I came, Saturday morning, came,
- 11:02Speaker 2: Sunday morning, came this morning. And Saturday was probably the
- 11:06Speaker 2: worst day because you know, they had the marathon and
- 11:09Speaker 2: mid marathon going on. Nobody knew how to tell me
- 11:12Speaker 2: to get back here, so I'm literally driving everywhere, driving
- 11:17Speaker 2: down the wrong side of the road on Central Avenue.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I got policemen stopping me, telling me, sir, you can't drive.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, well you tell me how to get there.
- 11:25Speaker 2: He goes, I don't even know how to tell you
- 11:27Speaker 2: how to get there. So he was very patient with me,
- 11:29Speaker 2: thank goodness. But I mean, it's just it's absolutely miserable
- 11:33Speaker 2: when they have all these runners going through a round
- 11:37Speaker 2: Churchill down, so you're trying to get over here. But
- 11:39Speaker 2: I will say I've had a ball with my good
- 11:42Speaker 2: friends Hans and on a Marin. Sorry about that, Josh so,
- 11:46Speaker 2: but because you know, they got their horse, so happy.
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's in the Kentucky Derby Feel Good Store. It is
- 11:54Speaker 2: the best story in the Kentucky Derby in a long time.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Here's the other part, and we'll talk about this more
- 11:59Speaker 2: because Hans is going to join us in a little while,
- 12:02Speaker 2: maybe today or I'm not sure which day. But the
- 12:06Speaker 2: fun part about this is that he's in Barn forty two.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The horse is he got the post position number eight. Okay,
- 12:17Speaker 2: do you know any of significance of a former famous
- 12:21Speaker 2: horse that was in Barn forty two and post position eight.
- 12:26Speaker 3: The only thing that I could think of as you
- 12:28Speaker 3: were going through all that is forty two plus eight
- 12:31Speaker 3: is fifty country House was fifty to one.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Dirty, My gosh, I love how your mind works. No,
- 12:37Speaker 2: you're so far off, it's not even funny. But you
- 12:40Speaker 2: can go with that. I like that. I like that
- 12:43Speaker 2: country Houses fifty to one. Man your money, your money
- 12:46Speaker 2: goes to your mind, and your mind goes to your money. Okay,
- 12:49Speaker 2: that sounds like a really good song. There is a
- 12:52Speaker 2: song it got my money on my mind and my
- 12:54Speaker 2: mind on my mind. Who is that? Does that bare
- 12:57Speaker 2: naked ladies? No? Who is it? I don't know.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I can't think of it off the top of my head, but.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I think it is bar naked. It's like Doctor Dre
- 13:05Speaker 2: or something. Oh oh, okay, maybe it is a rap song. Okay,
- 13:10Speaker 2: but yeah, kind of like gin and Juice. But so
- 13:14Speaker 2: here's the significance of it. Are you ready? All right?
- 13:17Speaker 2: There is a statue out front of the Kentucky Derby
- 13:20Speaker 2: Museum Barbara exactly. Barbara was in Barn forty two. Barbara
- 13:27Speaker 2: was in post position number eight. Wow, So now we
- 13:31Speaker 2: don't want the ending for So Happy to be like Barbara,
- 13:36Speaker 2: but I kind of feel like the entire country wants
- 13:41Speaker 2: So Happy to win because of this such a great,
- 13:44Speaker 2: feel good story that it is. Yeah, I mean, even
- 13:46Speaker 2: if you talk to some of the other owners and
- 13:48Speaker 2: trainers of hurting it, well, I don't know if they're
- 13:51Speaker 2: necessarily rooting for it, but you have a hard time
- 13:54Speaker 2: not rooting for it. So it just it makes it tough.
- 13:57Speaker 2: But I love this story, and I guess because I
- 14:00Speaker 2: that I love these people that own the horse. Mark
- 14:03Speaker 2: Glatt is such a good human being, even though he
- 14:06Speaker 2: has absolutely zero personality. And I do because you know
- 14:10Speaker 2: the story how they named him Mark Glad has such
- 14:13Speaker 2: a unusual personality because he's never happy. They thought, well,
- 14:17Speaker 2: let's just name horse after him, go happy, let's go
- 14:19Speaker 2: the opposite way. And of course his wife loved it.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And then unfortunately, at the age of fifty seven, just
- 14:25Speaker 2: a couple of months ago, she unexpectedly passes away.
- 14:27Speaker 3: I think they should have been never happy, never happy,
- 14:31Speaker 3: just lean into well.
- 14:32Speaker 2: You know what would have been funny is you know
- 14:34Speaker 2: we're gonna have ned toffee on again. Who manages Spinthrift
- 14:39Speaker 2: Farm sometime this week they named a horse after him
- 14:42Speaker 2: because of an article that they miswrote. And I don't
- 14:45Speaker 2: remember what article. Is he Blood Horse or Thirdbred Daily
- 14:49Speaker 2: News or one of them. They quoted Ned Toffee, the
- 14:55Speaker 2: manager at Spinthrift Farm. They quoted him as his name
- 15:00Speaker 2: being Ted Naffi, and so hence the horses name. They
- 15:05Speaker 2: made a big joke out of it. They named a
- 15:07Speaker 2: horse after him, which was one of the top Derby contenders.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Unfortunately gets hurt and then's out of the Derby trail.
- 15:15Speaker 3: So when Kentucky's new quarterback comes in next year, the
- 15:19Speaker 3: one that I can't get his name right, we're all
- 15:21Speaker 3: not or whatever it is, then he will have a
- 15:24Speaker 3: Derby horse named after his best stuff name.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Why not?
- 15:28Speaker 3: What's not right?
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh my god, I'm gonna get that's That's gonna
- 15:33Speaker 2: be a hard one to try and fish out. No right,
- 15:36Speaker 2: no right, no right.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Hey. By the way, I asked EJ. Clark this, I'm
- 15:39Speaker 3: curious if you know do you know which post has
- 15:42Speaker 3: produced the most Derby winner?
- 15:44Speaker 5: Oh?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I should know? This is it? Post position six?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Ooh?
- 15:52Speaker 2: Close? Am I all right?
- 15:53Speaker 3: Very close?
- 15:54Speaker 2: Five? Five? Okay? I was right?
- 15:56Speaker 3: Winners coming out of five, and which.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Post position has the least if not zero.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Seventeen exactly because I like six speed and now he's screwed.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Oh really yeah, Oh my gosh, okay, yeah, because that's
- 16:09Speaker 3: what's further ado, No six speed, who's.
- 16:13Speaker 2: The one that has eighteenth post position? Yeah, and which
- 16:18Speaker 2: they they weren't too happy about that. And of course
- 16:20Speaker 2: the pick this week is renegade, and Todd Pletcher came
- 16:25Speaker 2: off the plane says, yeah, when I heard I was
- 16:27Speaker 2: on the plane, I had to get a a vomit bag,
- 16:31Speaker 2: That's what he said, Yeah, which I thought would not remember. Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 2: which I thought was hilarious when he's I mean went
- 16:37Speaker 2: a way to take you know something that's like a
- 16:40Speaker 2: crap because if you don't know horse racing, the one
- 16:44Speaker 2: position is one of the worst.
- 16:46Speaker 3: To have got it hasn't won since eighty six. There
- 16:49Speaker 3: you go, who is eighty six?
- 16:51Speaker 2: Genuine risk? It was that was before hold tight, I
- 16:55Speaker 2: got it, you got it right here? Ah, it was
- 17:00Speaker 2: I'm ready. Ferdinand Ferdinand, Okay, Ferdinand was okay, I.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Like that Willie Shoemaker was riding. Oh my gosh, you
- 17:09Speaker 3: thanks for the text line.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Well that's okay, good, all right, then all right, we're
- 17:12Speaker 2: gonna take a break five O two three four fourteen fifty.
- 17:15Speaker 2: If we want to call, can we take calls today? No? Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 2: so never mind, h don't call in. You can call in.
- 17:20Speaker 2: We're text all you text at all? Yeah, there goes
- 17:24Speaker 2: President Churchill Downs right there by the way, Michael Mudd,
- 17:26Speaker 2: uh Bill Mud, but nice guy. So uh if you
- 17:30Speaker 2: want to text in, you can do that on a
- 17:32Speaker 2: whiskey thief text line five O two four one four
- 17:34Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. See that's what I love. See them up
- 17:37Speaker 2: there getting a picture. How can you not enjoy seeing
- 17:40Speaker 2: people just enjoying Churchill Downs in our city? Right now? George,
- 17:43Speaker 2: all right, we're going to take a break. Stay right.
- 17:44Speaker 2: There a lot more of justic cats coming up. Those things.
- 18:15Speaker 5: First, we like you to stand.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Stad you well, we changed up.
- 18:24Speaker 6: We've got a brand news Peak.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Now we got the service popping and dust. They all staff?
- 18:32Speaker 4: Can I help you? Everybody?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Oh my, what a way to come back in. I
- 18:40Speaker 2: like this little prince hit and run well, Prince, yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 2: listen anytime you play prince. I'm I'm all happy about that.
- 18:47Speaker 2: But hey, you just reminded me and I completely forgot
- 18:50Speaker 2: we got to give a shout out to Matthew. Matthew
- 18:53Speaker 2: back at the station taking care of us without Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 2: Matthew is in the house. Thank you very much Matthew
- 19:00Speaker 2: for uh being there with us. Can you speak to
- 19:04Speaker 2: us at least Matthew? Well, where is he, Matthew? Maybe
- 19:09Speaker 2: he's tired. See he's sleeping. He is, he's not saying
- 19:13Speaker 2: the thing to us because he is falling asleep, or
- 19:15Speaker 2: he's gone to the bathroom. Matthew, are you there? Can
- 19:18Speaker 2: hear me there?
- 19:19Speaker 3: He is?
- 19:20Speaker 2: What are you doing? Speak up? Something is wrong with
- 19:23Speaker 2: one of the headphones, and of course it is okay. Well, uh,
- 19:27Speaker 2: since you're filling in this week all week, well with
- 19:31Speaker 2: the exception of tomorrow, we need to have our gen
- 19:34Speaker 2: X segment. Okay, okay, yes, we can do that on Thursday.
- 19:38Speaker 2: He sounds so excited. It's early for matt Okay, so
- 19:42Speaker 2: we'll talk to him at nine o'clock when he wakes up.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Then how's that? Okay? Good? Yeah, get get back in
- 19:50Speaker 2: your cot, put your blanket on, and then lay your
- 19:52Speaker 2: head on the pillow. I mean, if I could, I would,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I mean, all right, Well, good to have you, Matthew.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Thank you for doing what you're doing this week? No problem? Okay,
- 20:03Speaker 2: good Oh my goodness. Yeah, Matthew's definitely back. He's not up,
- 20:08Speaker 2: but he's back.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I mean, I understand it. Do your really mornings are early?
- 20:12Speaker 3: I look up at quarter to five this morning.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Okay, I'm tired. Why did you get up at quarter
- 20:18Speaker 2: to five? You didn't need to get up that early,
- 20:19Speaker 2: did you. Well?
- 20:20Speaker 3: I always freak out the first day we come out
- 20:22Speaker 3: here that everything's gonna work correctly and I'm gonna be
- 20:25Speaker 3: able to find a good spot to park and all
- 20:27Speaker 3: that stuff. So I always like to get out here.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I was I think I was here at six o'clock
- 20:31Speaker 3: this morning.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Were you okay? You were here early? All right? Josh
- 20:36Speaker 2: texted out five two four one four fourteen fifty for
- 20:39Speaker 2: somebody with social anxiety, Michael, I love your demeanor on
- 20:43Speaker 2: Derby Week. You are definitely in your element. I love
- 20:46Speaker 2: your enthusiasm. You know it is funny because I do.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I've said this many times justin I do not like
- 20:55Speaker 2: being around crowds. I cannot stand it. I would rather
- 20:59Speaker 2: be anywhere else than around the Crown. But for some reason,
- 21:04Speaker 2: this is my home, this is your home, and this
- 21:07Speaker 2: is something I'm so proud of that the world comes
- 21:11Speaker 2: together to enjoy Louisville, Kentucky and the Kentucky Derby. That
- 21:14Speaker 2: makes me have a sense of pride.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Do you think the Kentucky Derby would be as big
- 21:20Speaker 3: or as mean as much to us as it does
- 21:22Speaker 3: if it was say the second or third race. I
- 21:25Speaker 3: think it's all about the fact that this kicks off
- 21:28Speaker 3: the Triple Crown.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You know, that's a great question. I don't think it
- 21:32Speaker 2: would be. I think I look at Baltimore with the Preatnas,
- 21:36Speaker 2: I don't think they get into it as much. I
- 21:40Speaker 2: think with New York and the Belmont, they don't get
- 21:43Speaker 2: into it as much unless there is the potential of
- 21:45Speaker 2: a Triple Crown winner. But you know, you look at
- 21:50Speaker 2: New York, you look at Baltimore. They have so many
- 21:52Speaker 2: other things to offer. You know, they got the Ravens,
- 21:56Speaker 2: the Orioles, you got the Jets, Mets, the Yankees in
- 22:00Speaker 2: the Giants, you got all the hockey up there. I
- 22:03Speaker 2: just think when you don't have as many big events
- 22:08Speaker 2: in Louisville, Kentucky other than the Kentucky Derby, I mean,
- 22:12Speaker 2: this is this is our moment to shine.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Well now and you may know this. I don't know.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Do the Preakness and the Belmont do they have two
- 22:21Speaker 3: weeks of events?
- 22:23Speaker 2: I don't think they have anything like this. They don't
- 22:26Speaker 2: have anything New York. They just probably would laugh about it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It's like, what what what Belmont Festival?
- 22:32Speaker 3: No?
- 22:32Speaker 2: They they got the festival every freaking night in New
- 22:35Speaker 2: York City and that's called Midtown and Times Square. So no,
- 22:39Speaker 2: they don't do anything like that. I think this young
- 22:42Speaker 2: lady's going to regret that she's trying to be in
- 22:44Speaker 2: TV while I'm standing right here doing radio. Okay, I
- 22:47Speaker 2: just I yeah, she keeps glancing over at me that
- 22:51Speaker 2: maybe I'm a little too loud. Can't help the exactly.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I know. Maybe I should go join her and be
- 22:59Speaker 2: on with her while I'm on the radio. But h okay,
- 23:03Speaker 2: this is going to be a mistake for her. I
- 23:05Speaker 2: hate to say this, so I guarantee if she will
- 23:08Speaker 2: not be there tomorrow. Okay, but but anyway, Uh yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 2: I just don't think anybody else has two week festivals. Yeah,
- 23:16Speaker 2: other than us, I mean, and that's what helps. What
- 23:18Speaker 2: is the festival in LA they're having, right? Is it Coachella?
- 23:21Speaker 3: Yeah? So is that a La.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I don't know where it is, but everybody's going there. Yeah.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I've heard a lot about Coachella, but yeah, I mean
- 23:28Speaker 3: I just think the the lead up to the Derby
- 23:31Speaker 3: and having two weeks. I mean, heck, but thunder over
- 23:33Speaker 3: Louisville is a week and a half ago, now, I mean,
- 23:36Speaker 3: that's that's crazy to think about that. That's a Kentucky
- 23:39Speaker 3: Derby festival.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Now.
- 23:40Speaker 3: You did have the balloon race canceled this weekend on Saturday.
- 23:44Speaker 3: You had the balloon Glow on Friday night canceled. But
- 23:46Speaker 3: I was talking to my Gandolfo, the treasurer of the
- 23:49Speaker 3: Kentucky Derby Festivals, and he was telling me they just
- 23:52Speaker 3: shoot for getting two of those balloon race or balloon
- 23:55Speaker 3: events up and running. So that's why they have so
- 23:58Speaker 3: many of them in case of cancel like that, right,
- 24:01Speaker 3: I mean, just the fact that you've still got all
- 24:03Speaker 3: this stuff going on, it's already happened. You've still got
- 24:06Speaker 3: the steamboat race this week, all kinds of stuff going down.
- 24:09Speaker 3: No flood this week as well, no flooding.
- 24:11Speaker 2: We had the listen I didn't Jinxinny. Thomas Benn did
- 24:14Speaker 2: not show up this week. We had, we had the fireworks.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Uh thunder over Loisville happened, we had. Uh, Well, you
- 24:22Speaker 2: can't blame you the marathon, Mini went on. Believe me,
- 24:25Speaker 2: I know that because it shut me down. But you
- 24:28Speaker 2: cannot blame Michael Bennon for everything. Okay, that's true, even
- 24:31Speaker 2: though a lot of people like to do that.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Uh.
- 24:33Speaker 2: One person texted in, if the fun police try to
- 24:36Speaker 2: shut you all down, just pull out your Derby pins
- 24:39Speaker 2: and tell them you're been deputized. Yes, that's exactly right.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I need to get my pin back out. I didn't have, Jamie, Jamie,
- 24:47Speaker 2: he didn't give you a pin? Oh the one he
- 24:50Speaker 2: gave us? Yeah, okay, yeah, he did give you a pin.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I was thinking.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I was thinking the official Derby pin.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Oh I hadn't got one of the Get one of those, Yeah,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I haven't got one in a long time. No, he's
- 25:03Speaker 2: talking about the uh, the the police pin that he
- 25:06Speaker 2: gave us.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I'll be rocking.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I'd like to have another one of those, Jamie. Uh
- 25:10Speaker 2: forty handily said Michael, asked ted of Crimson satan Is
- 25:14Speaker 2: buried at Spinthrift. I don't even know who Crimson Satan is.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I would be afraid to asset that this is a
- 25:20Speaker 2: bad joke.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Sounds like the devil.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well there is another horse out there. Give
- 25:25Speaker 2: the give the devil his due. I don't like those
- 25:27Speaker 2: kinds of you include devil in the horses names. I
- 25:30Speaker 2: just don't like it.
- 25:31Speaker 3: See, my my thing, that's your thing. My thing is
- 25:34Speaker 3: naming horses other animals. Like the fact that there's a
- 25:38Speaker 3: puma in It's a horse. Why are you naming it puma?
- 25:43Speaker 2: But that's a kind of a cool name, though it
- 25:45Speaker 2: could be named after the show.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I mean, are we just gonna start naming horses after
- 25:49Speaker 3: animals all willy nilly of all.
- 25:52Speaker 2: The Derby horses? Right now, let's go because you know
- 25:56Speaker 2: a lot of people, mostly women, like to pick too.
- 26:00Speaker 2: There goes Todd Pletcher right there. See, I'm gonna go
- 26:02Speaker 2: squirrel the entire time, and it's just gonna drive me nuts.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Anybody got a vomit bag for me?
- 26:08Speaker 2: And stop it? Now? Oh that was a funny joke,
- 26:10Speaker 2: by the way, Uh, but I don't even know what
- 26:13Speaker 2: I was talking about. So women like to pick the
- 26:16Speaker 2: color of the silks and or the name of the horses.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Which way of those two ways? There is a different way.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Do you like to pick a horse?
- 26:28Speaker 3: I mean, we've chronicled this in the past. I there's
- 26:30Speaker 3: a number of different ways that I like to go.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I don't really go with the silk color. That's not
- 26:36Speaker 3: something that I go after. I'm just I don't really
- 26:38Speaker 3: pay attention to the silk color. But I will go
- 26:40Speaker 3: with the color of the horse. The name, obviously is
- 26:42Speaker 3: a big one for me. Jockey morning Line odds if
- 26:46Speaker 3: I feel like I can get a good value there,
- 26:48Speaker 3: like a horse that so I always look at the
- 26:50Speaker 3: morning Line odds and say, there's a horse four to
- 26:52Speaker 3: one and it's the second selection, right. But yet when
- 26:55Speaker 3: I'm getting ready to better race, it's at like twelve
- 26:58Speaker 3: to one and it's the fifth or sixth lot. I'm
- 27:00Speaker 3: going to that horse almost every Are you really okay?
- 27:03Speaker 2: All right? Are there any names in this year's Kentucky
- 27:06Speaker 2: Derby that you like? Man, that's hard to not pass up?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Six Really?
- 27:11Speaker 2: Why Sixpe?
- 27:12Speaker 3: Because I drive a sixpe?
- 27:14Speaker 2: Oh that makes all the sense in the world. Okay,
- 27:17Speaker 2: I like that one. I do like the Puma. I
- 27:21Speaker 2: would have to say if I'm purely going by name alone,
- 27:24Speaker 2: Good morning, Hello, How are y'all? I feel like we're
- 27:28Speaker 2: at the zoo. I mean, and we're the animals.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Okay, I mean people.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Are just walking by, just kind of glaring at us.
- 27:34Speaker 2: But I like Incredibolt because and then watch that.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Good gosh, that is a big old bee.
- 27:41Speaker 2: It is a big bee flying right around us. All Right,
- 27:43Speaker 2: see there we go again. I am sorry, this is
- 27:46Speaker 2: gonna be the worst radio week of my life. I
- 27:48Speaker 2: just want you to know be forewarned about this. I
- 27:52Speaker 2: like Incredibolt. Incredib Bolt is by my one of my
- 27:56Speaker 2: I have two favorite sires. I one day I want
- 27:59Speaker 2: to have it's not into mischief and don't please don't
- 28:02Speaker 2: tell ned Toffee this. But it's not into mischief and
- 28:07Speaker 2: uh but it is uh Bolt di'orro, and so Incredibol
- 28:12Speaker 2: is by Bolt Diorro. And then the other one is
- 28:15Speaker 2: a gun Runner. I love gun Runner. The part that
- 28:18Speaker 2: I'm really surprised about is that they the Jockey Club
- 28:22Speaker 2: allowed something with the name of a horse with a
- 28:24Speaker 2: gun in it. You know, everybody's so you don't like
- 28:28Speaker 2: anything gun and but the Jockey Club let them name
- 28:31Speaker 2: a horse after a gun's surprise. That's a cool name though,
- 28:34Speaker 2: gun Runner.
- 28:35Speaker 3: So speaking of animals, you also have an ae is
- 28:39Speaker 3: great white, so also named after an animal. If you will, Yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 3: I'll tell you what the horse that I really like.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I don't know if I'll end up betting it. I
- 28:47Speaker 3: probably will, Chief Wallaby. I just I think it's I
- 28:51Speaker 3: think it's so fun to say. I'm gonna be saying
- 28:54Speaker 3: that all week. Yeah, I mean that's another animal. I
- 28:58Speaker 3: think Golden Tempo. Is it by a golden pal? That's
- 29:01Speaker 3: Scheri Devo's horse. I bet it is, because that you
- 29:05Speaker 3: knew you can usually tell what horses there. Bye, you're correction, Okay,
- 29:10Speaker 3: so it is a golden pal. But I looked at that,
- 29:13Speaker 3: so I mean, uh, full effort. I think is a
- 29:16Speaker 3: cool name. Further Ado, I mean I like brad Cox.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I mean, how can you not like brad Cox. He's
- 29:22Speaker 3: from Louisville, Kentucky. You always root for the local people.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I can see where you like six speed, the part
- 29:27Speaker 3: I like about six feet.
- 29:29Speaker 2: You got Brian Hernandez.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Brad Cox has three horses. Yeah jesus, Yeah, is he
- 29:35Speaker 3: the new Bob Baffert?
- 29:38Speaker 2: He might be. And the fun part is he's from
- 29:41Speaker 2: right here in Louisville. So I love that he's right here.
- 29:45Speaker 2: So I think Potent is a really good name emerging market.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Now I'll never root for that because I'm not a
- 29:52Speaker 2: fan of the trainer Chad Brown, and I'll never be
- 29:55Speaker 2: a fan of his. But you know, I do not
- 29:59Speaker 2: like had Brown might be right here. It doesn't matter
- 30:02Speaker 2: if he is or not. Incredible. Riley Mott. Now, if
- 30:07Speaker 2: you don't know who Riley Mott, that's the son of
- 30:11Speaker 2: Bill Mott. Is he not a Hall of Famer yet?
- 30:14Speaker 2: He will be one day, But yes, Bill Mott. Uh,
- 30:16Speaker 2: so I who was a trainer of Sovereignty. I liked
- 30:20Speaker 2: that they had they've got some of the previous Derby
- 30:22Speaker 2: horses out here.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so I heard Sovereignty was out there this morning.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I saw him go around the track. That was pretty
- 30:29Speaker 2: cool autograph for me. Oh yeah, okay, now that's that's ridiculous. So, uh,
- 30:34Speaker 2: let's go ahead and take another break. Are you ready
- 30:35Speaker 2: to take another one? We'll get back to your text
- 30:38Speaker 2: messages as soon as we get back. Five oh two
- 30:40Speaker 2: three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Uh, if you're luck, we'll get back.
- 30:44Speaker 2: No, I just gave the phone number. It's four one,
- 30:46Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty. Please don't call in today. Okay, So John,
- 30:49Speaker 2: please don't call in because we can't take Why can't
- 30:52Speaker 2: we take the calls?
- 30:53Speaker 3: It would just it doesn't sound great on our side
- 30:55Speaker 3: of never mind?
- 30:56Speaker 2: All right? So four one four fourteen fifty. It's a
- 30:59Speaker 2: five h two four one four fourteen fifty. You want
- 31:01Speaker 2: to texting on the whiskey deep text line. We're on
- 31:03Speaker 2: the backside at Churchill Downs. We'll be right back after
- 31:06Speaker 2: these passages. Make a brother, just step sister.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Nobody gotta change to meet your back up. Let me
- 31:15Speaker 5: show you how to dance.
- 31:28Speaker 6: This stone is cold enough, think it secus this time
- 31:33Speaker 6: to make I'm shaking.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Not foods. I've got my hearts only no where did you.
- 31:43Speaker 6: I'm standing down myself counting me.
- 31:55Speaker 2: You just hate every now and then you just give
- 31:58Speaker 2: me a look. And this sad part about it. I
- 32:01Speaker 2: know exactly what you're thinking. I really do. I mean,
- 32:05Speaker 2: I just thought I heard this song. I thought this
- 32:08Speaker 2: is kind of a good because that's kind of how
- 32:10Speaker 2: I feel like when people are walking by here, they
- 32:13Speaker 2: are stopping and staring at me. Okay, so that's one
- 32:15Speaker 2: republic stop and stare and you don't like the song
- 32:18Speaker 2: I picked there.
- 32:19Speaker 3: It's it's okay. I just I wasn't crazy about the
- 32:22Speaker 3: opening lyrics.
- 32:24Speaker 2: I'm right there with you. I know it's kind of
- 32:26Speaker 2: hokey there, but that's you know, that's one republic for you.
- 32:28Speaker 2: So that's it. Yeah, uh, let's get back to the whiskey.
- 32:31Speaker 2: The text on five O two four one four fourteen
- 32:33Speaker 2: fifty Scoot sounds different when he's not in studio.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I mean, that's true. I don't think I'm quite as
- 32:41Speaker 3: loud when I'm not in studio because I don't want
- 32:45Speaker 3: to be a disturbance, oh to anybody out here, because
- 32:49Speaker 3: ex exactly.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Exactly, I can't help I get hyper back here. I'm
- 32:56Speaker 2: just I'm really excited, and it's kind of nice because
- 32:58Speaker 2: everybody's cleared out.
- 32:59Speaker 3: So it's weird for me because I am very much
- 33:02Speaker 3: the opposite of you. Now, the older I get, the
- 33:04Speaker 3: more I become like you, or I just don't like crowds.
- 33:07Speaker 3: But I'm very I always have been pretty outgoing. I
- 33:10Speaker 3: love being loud and being around people. But yeah, something
- 33:13Speaker 3: about being out of here, I just take it down
- 33:15Speaker 3: a notch.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Do you no? I unfortunately I probably take it up
- 33:19Speaker 2: probably fifty or sixty notches. Yeah, I'm I'm sorry. I'll try.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Maybe I should find a way to get a mint
- 33:26Speaker 2: julip back. Here is somebody to bring, you know, something
- 33:28Speaker 2: down here from Woodford Reserve that don't apology down.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Don't apologize for being you Mike. Okay, Oh, but we
- 33:34Speaker 3: could probably work out that mint julip thing later.
- 33:36Speaker 2: That would be I am of the thought that, uh,
- 33:40Speaker 2: probably one of the few I actually like mint jewlis.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Oh They're great, really, because there are so many people
- 33:46Speaker 2: out there that just simply don't like mint julips. I
- 33:49Speaker 2: have not seen the lady that's in charge of that booth, though.
- 33:52Speaker 2: We need to find her. See stop and stare right there. Yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 2: you know, I'm right just walk by, just stopped and
- 34:00Speaker 2: stared at this. It's like I feel like I'm at
- 34:02Speaker 2: the Louisville Zoo.
- 34:03Speaker 3: But he just stared. He didn't really stop. Okay, all right.
- 34:05Speaker 2: The one person said, it sounds like the reporter is
- 34:08Speaker 2: being overwhelmed by Battleship Bennett charm. Well, until you tell
- 34:12Speaker 2: her you don't like cinnamon butter from Texas Roadhouse.
- 34:16Speaker 3: That's no bad? Is it really bad?
- 34:20Speaker 2: Take? Okay? But I was very nice to her. It
- 34:24Speaker 2: wasn't I her?
- 34:26Speaker 3: Yeah, how would the texter know that?
- 34:28Speaker 2: Is he here? This is in relation to something else?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Has to be? Oh you think so?
- 34:32Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I don't either.
- 34:34Speaker 3: I'm kind of like you. I my brain. As much
- 34:36Speaker 3: as I try to put thoughts together each and every
- 34:38Speaker 3: year when we're back here, it is becoming increasingly tough.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I'm right there with.
- 34:44Speaker 2: You, really, Okay, Uh, I can't pull up these now,
- 34:47Speaker 2: so love here we go, got it? Uh, My grandpa
- 34:52Speaker 2: has a hard on for every gray horse. Thank you
- 34:56Speaker 2: for letting me say that.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Jeez.
- 35:00Speaker 2: And the fact that I hesitated. I think there's one.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't remember if there is or not. But uh, anyway,
- 35:13Speaker 2: one person said, uh, Brad Cox came up under Dallas Stewart,
- 35:18Speaker 2: and that is correct, so uh yeah. And of course
- 35:22Speaker 2: you know that tree line of d Wayne Lucas trainers
- 35:26Speaker 2: is long. Of course, you know Dallas came under d Wayne,
- 35:28Speaker 2: Mike Maker came under d Wayne. I mean, it's just
- 35:31Speaker 2: unbelievable the amount of people that have trained under d
- 35:34Speaker 2: Wayne Lucas and now Dallas Stewart is passing those uh
- 35:38Speaker 2: uh lessons lifelong lessons on horse training to other people. Yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 2: he's standing right there in front of us. He was, No,
- 35:47Speaker 2: he's gone down. Yeah, he likes to ignore me. He
- 35:49Speaker 2: hates he hates coming on the radio.
- 35:51Speaker 3: And did d Wayne passed? I remember that last year? Yeah?
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah, he passed away last year. Yeah, last fall. So
- 35:57Speaker 2: last Derby was his last one. In fact, I got
- 36:00Speaker 2: a picture of him sitting on his horse, which was
- 36:03Speaker 2: really cool. I mean, you talk about a guy that
- 36:06Speaker 2: was really nice. Uh So one person said, someone's grandfather
- 36:10Speaker 2: wears a hard hat while in construction. Is what I
- 36:13Speaker 2: just heard? Interesting, No, it's not what I said. No, no, no, no, yeah, yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 2: thank you, thank you for trying to save me. But no,
- 36:23Speaker 2: that's that's far from what I said, and we're not
- 36:26Speaker 2: going to go back to what I said.
- 36:27Speaker 3: All that is also far from the worst thing that's
- 36:30Speaker 3: ever been said.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Oh thank goodness. Well, you know we're so small that
- 36:33Speaker 2: nobody the FCC is never listening or feel threatened to
- 36:36Speaker 2: buy our heart radios.
- 36:37Speaker 3: What was it you that I was telling last week
- 36:39Speaker 3: about the whole Roman thing when he had to fill
- 36:41Speaker 3: on on Rutherford. Yeah, and they sent the name to
- 36:43Speaker 3: him and he said it, oh yeah multiple times.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I see. Even Michael Bennett would catch that.
- 36:49Speaker 2: The fact that Roman didn't catch that might be the
- 36:52Speaker 2: craziest thing out there. So you know, I'm out here
- 36:54Speaker 2: standing and I run Nick Rousch and Nick Rausch. I'm
- 36:59Speaker 2: I'm listening to him to absolutely butcher a story, and
- 37:04Speaker 2: I'm like that that's not the way it goes. He goes, Okay,
- 37:09Speaker 2: if it's not the way it goes, will you tell it? Please?
- 37:11Speaker 2: So I had to get on camera with whatever they
- 37:13Speaker 2: were doing on YouTube to tell the whole story correctly,
- 37:17Speaker 2: even though you and I don't. I'm probably guiltier than
- 37:21Speaker 2: Nick Rousch of telling giving all kinds of misinformation. Yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 2: but and it doesn't bother me. I mean, I don't
- 37:28Speaker 2: want I don't intentionally give out misinformation, but I do
- 37:31Speaker 2: think it's Hanny Friday.
- 37:32Speaker 3: We gave out a plethora of misinformation. You did not me.
- 37:37Speaker 2: What was that? Even in regards to I remember, it
- 37:40Speaker 2: doesn't nobody even remembers either. So don't even worry about
- 37:43Speaker 2: Bibbo two three and four fourteen fIF don't call why
- 37:46Speaker 2: am I doing that? My gosh, man, muscle memory it is.
- 37:49Speaker 2: It is a muscle memory five two four one four
- 37:52Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. If you want to text in So uh,
- 37:54Speaker 2: all right, let's talk about it for a couple of
- 37:56Speaker 2: minutes before I have to break for the hour. Uh
- 37:58Speaker 2: so yes, over the week again, UK got a commitment.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Finally we get to talk about this. Uh uh and
- 38:05Speaker 2: he is from Segal. I'm not gonna say yes the
- 38:09Speaker 2: pro player. Are we ready? Ouse main in Diagi?
- 38:15Speaker 3: I would sayin all right, us Maine, And then I'm
- 38:18Speaker 3: pretty sure it's in day in Die. Oh really, I
- 38:22Speaker 3: watched a little bit of his highlight tape and I
- 38:24Speaker 3: think that's how they were saying in dy.
- 38:27Speaker 2: I just.
- 38:30Speaker 3: That'll be a tough one for you. It is.
- 38:33Speaker 2: It's I don't know if I'll ever get his name correct.
- 38:36Speaker 3: I can tell everybody that you will not.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, thank you. Uh. He played in Italy professionally.
- 38:42Speaker 2: He's six foot eleven. Uh, not yet clear to play.
- 38:46Speaker 2: But the first step was he had to pick a
- 38:49Speaker 2: school before he could start the process of getting approved
- 38:53Speaker 2: by the n C double A. So uh, you gotta
- 38:55Speaker 2: believe with everything that's going on with the n C
- 38:58Speaker 2: double A, he's not gonna have any issue approved anyway.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So I wouldn't think so yeah, yeah, I mean it
- 39:04Speaker 2: was at Denzel Aberdeen Florida. He goes back to Florida,
- 39:06Speaker 2: and of course he's already been approved, so he'll be
- 39:08Speaker 2: playing for Todd Colden before you know it. Now he does.
- 39:13Speaker 2: He is a twenty two year old. He's never played
- 39:15Speaker 2: in the NBA, never played in the G League. He
- 39:19Speaker 2: did withdrew his name in the twenty twenty three draft.
- 39:24Speaker 2: But he's played in Italy. He's played kind of all
- 39:28Speaker 2: over the place. He's but last year, let's just talk
- 39:31Speaker 2: about what he did. Last year. He averaged ten points
- 39:33Speaker 2: per game in twenty six games, in twenty seven minutes
- 39:35Speaker 2: per game. Here's the part I like, shot fifty four
- 39:39Speaker 2: percent from the field and thirty two percent from beyond
- 39:42Speaker 2: the arc six eleven. I mean, what are you thinking
- 39:47Speaker 2: five years ago, ten years ago, did you ever dream
- 39:51Speaker 2: there would be a six to eleven player playing in
- 39:54Speaker 2: college shooting from beyond the arc.
- 39:57Speaker 3: It is wild how much different basket is now versus
- 40:02Speaker 3: even the early two thousands, where you didn't have those
- 40:04Speaker 3: big guys shoot. But now it's like it's almost a
- 40:06Speaker 3: requie exactly well, especially because there's there's so many players
- 40:10Speaker 3: out there with the mindset of I gotta get to
- 40:12Speaker 3: the league. I want to get to the league. Well,
- 40:14Speaker 3: how do you get to the league. If you're a
- 40:16Speaker 3: big man, you got to extend the floor and shoot
- 40:18Speaker 3: from beyond. That's just that's the way that the NBA
- 40:20Speaker 3: has kind of gone towards, and now college we're seeing
- 40:23Speaker 3: the exact same thing.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you ever wonder why on one of those
- 40:27Speaker 2: tractors going around the track?
- 40:28Speaker 3: No, I've rowed enough tractors in my life. Have you
- 40:31Speaker 3: really know what that's like.
- 40:32Speaker 2: See, I've never done that before. I have never never
- 40:35Speaker 2: I've never ridden a tractor. Excuse me, Yeah, you're because
- 40:39Speaker 2: I'm not country. I'm a city boy. Where am I
- 40:41Speaker 2: gonna have the opportunity to ride attractor? I would love
- 40:43Speaker 2: to get on that John Deere right now and ride
- 40:45Speaker 2: around Churchill Downs. I think that would be fun for
- 40:48Speaker 2: probably five ten minutes.
- 40:49Speaker 3: My dad has a bunch of land, yes, that we
- 40:52Speaker 3: used to have to mow back in the day, and
- 40:54Speaker 3: I would have to hop on a Kibota tractor and
- 40:56Speaker 3: it took about four and a half hours to mow
- 40:58Speaker 3: the entire yard.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Yeah, uh wow, spent a lot of time on track. Okay,
- 41:03Speaker 2: well there you go. See here the birds? Do you
- 41:06Speaker 2: think like Augusta, you think I was getting ready to
- 41:08Speaker 2: ask you. Do you think the people from the Masters
- 41:10Speaker 2: come here and uh and and record backside of Churchill
- 41:14Speaker 2: downs just to get the uh uh they could? I
- 41:17Speaker 2: think they do. See more people staring at us. What
- 41:20Speaker 2: did we do? Do I look funny?
- 41:22Speaker 3: I mean you're loud? Okay, okay, I think that's all
- 41:25Speaker 3: it comes down to. We don't want that either.
- 41:30Speaker 2: You don't want this one either. Okay, just.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Take your mic away. He's taking a picture of you,
- 41:38Speaker 3: and you got your you got your creepy.
- 41:41Speaker 2: At least get my good side when he takes a
- 41:43Speaker 2: picture of me. Okay, make sure you get anybody comes
- 41:46Speaker 2: out here and gets a picture of me, please get
- 41:49Speaker 2: my good side. And that's usually when I'm turned around
- 41:51Speaker 2: the opposite way, not facing you. One person said, these
- 41:55Speaker 2: birds are driving me crazy, like you all are the
- 41:59Speaker 2: Masters this morning.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Really they're coming across that loud That actually surprises me,
- 42:04Speaker 3: does it?
- 42:04Speaker 2: Really?
- 42:05Speaker 3: I mean they are loud for us too.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Even Yeah. As far as the new recruit for UK,
- 42:11Speaker 2: I know nothing about him, but the tape do not
- 42:14Speaker 2: lie tape looked good exactly. So I mean that's the
- 42:20Speaker 2: problem when you when you don't know who they are
- 42:22Speaker 2: and you've never seen him play, It's like, Okay, do
- 42:27Speaker 2: I get excited? Do I not? It might be good
- 42:30Speaker 2: that with this team that we're gonna have at UK,
- 42:34Speaker 2: now Tyron Stokes does commit to UK, I think it'll
- 42:38Speaker 2: take it to a different level. But if we don't
- 42:40Speaker 2: get Tyron Stokes and we get a bunch of these
- 42:43Speaker 2: players that we really don't know who they are, it
- 42:47Speaker 2: might be good because that's kind of how Pope set
- 42:50Speaker 2: up the very first year. He got a bunch of
- 42:52Speaker 2: players we really didn't know who they were, and and
- 42:56Speaker 2: so there was less pressure on that team was last year.
- 43:00Speaker 2: You know, he had all these players come in. The
- 43:03Speaker 2: fan base is going nuts, the coaching staff is going nuts,
- 43:06Speaker 2: and that I did it put a little too much
- 43:09Speaker 2: pressure on that team to where they didn't gel together.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I think there is something to be said for just
- 43:14Speaker 3: bringing a bunch of prove it guys onto the team, right,
- 43:17Speaker 3: guys that need to prove to NBA scouts or people
- 43:20Speaker 3: at the next level that hey, I've got what it takes,
- 43:23Speaker 3: and that allows them to come in hungry. I think
- 43:26Speaker 3: that can go a long way for a team. A
- 43:28Speaker 3: lot of times instead of having just a bunch of superstars.
- 43:31Speaker 3: So I mean, we'll see, I mean obviously with this guy,
- 43:34Speaker 3: and II I mean the competition he's playing against probably
- 43:37Speaker 3: isn't the best, but we don't know that until he
- 43:40Speaker 3: steps foot.
- 43:40Speaker 2: On the Fieah. One person said, Michael, be honest, do
- 43:45Speaker 2: you miss when Oakes was the local day? I can
- 43:47Speaker 2: remember when when anyone working a mutual window received two
- 43:52Speaker 2: free in field tickets. I didn't know that, all right, Yeah,
- 43:56Speaker 2: if you want me to be completely honest, yes, I
- 43:58Speaker 2: do miss that. I worry. You know what, Let's address
- 44:02Speaker 2: this a little more when we come back from break,
- 44:04Speaker 2: because I do want to discuss that. I think it's
- 44:06Speaker 2: a fair question, and I think a lot of people
- 44:09Speaker 2: are talking about this here in Louisville. Justin not happy
- 44:12Speaker 2: with what's happening at Churchill Downs. I'm not gonna be
- 44:15Speaker 2: hard on Churchill Downs, but I think some criticism is
- 44:18Speaker 2: definitely deserved. All right, Our two coming up with Just
- 44:21Speaker 2: the Cats, stay.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Right there, Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 44:43Speaker 2: All right, now, number two on this Monday. Well, you
- 44:46Speaker 2: gotta be cranked up right now, I mean, yeah, okay,
- 44:49Speaker 2: so even Justin is a little different you. You are
- 44:52Speaker 2: in a weird vibe today.
- 44:54Speaker 3: In place is a weird vibe today.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Nobody's here.
- 44:57Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Normally if you come back here to the backside,
- 45:01Speaker 2: every tent is taken and nobody's here.
- 45:06Speaker 3: They're normally right next to us. I cannot recall.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Maybe they just looked and said, you know, last year,
- 45:12Speaker 2: we were next to that loud guy from eight till
- 45:14Speaker 2: ten and they're out of here.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Were you here last year?
- 45:16Speaker 2: Yes? I was here last year. Thanks for remembering me.
- 45:19Speaker 3: I don't remember. Really.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I was trying to get you a date out here
- 45:23Speaker 2: with well. I was trying to get you a date
- 45:27Speaker 2: with a producer at w d R B and he
- 45:30Speaker 2: said I was going to go introduce you, and you
- 45:32Speaker 2: said nope. And guess what where is she this year?
- 45:35Speaker 3: Not with the exactly miss you did, miss your chance.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I was ready to introduce you to her. I'd like
- 45:43Speaker 2: to know where she is. Sneaky, sneaky, but you did.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You Always go to your opportunity right there when it
- 45:52Speaker 2: presents itself. Do not wait, delay or anything like that.
- 45:56Speaker 2: You'll make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. But but you know
- 46:00Speaker 2: every time you delay an opportunity, it won't happen.
- 46:04Speaker 3: That's true.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good way to look at it. It is.
- 46:06Speaker 2: It's the only way to look at I'm gonna tell
- 46:08Speaker 2: you right now, it is the only way. But yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 2: I gotta settle down. All right, Let's go back to
- 46:14Speaker 2: this because I think the Texter had a really good question.
- 46:18Speaker 2: You tell me, because I gave a little bit of
- 46:19Speaker 2: my perspective on the Oaks Day, which used to be
- 46:24Speaker 2: the local day for Louisville. What are your thoughts on it?
- 46:28Speaker 3: See, I don't my opinions in regards to all that,
- 46:32Speaker 3: excuse me, is not nearly as strong as everybody else, right,
- 46:36Speaker 3: because I didn't grow up around this, right, I just
- 46:41Speaker 3: what probably six seven years ago, eight years ago maybe
- 46:44Speaker 3: is when I just started getting involved and being here
- 46:47Speaker 3: on the backside every year and actually getting an opportunity
- 46:49Speaker 3: to go to Derby. So I don't have all that
- 46:53Speaker 3: strong opinions about it. I do know that everybody that's
- 46:56Speaker 3: from Louisville and has been associated with the Kentucky Derby
- 46:59Speaker 3: for a while, long long time is not happy with
- 47:02Speaker 3: the way that things are going. I mean, it got
- 47:04Speaker 3: your your Derby Day or your Oaks day rather got
- 47:07Speaker 3: pushed back to Thursday. Thursday got pushed back to Wednesday.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Louis Rabau. That is a really weirdo.
- 47:15Speaker 2: See Louis le Beau. I know who he is. I
- 47:17Speaker 2: remembered this year. Does he remember me? He's gone.
- 47:21Speaker 3: But I mean, now, your local day is five oh Tuesday, which, yes,
- 47:25Speaker 3: Michael falls on Tuesday.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I had more people make fun of me of that, Okay,
- 47:31Speaker 2: I just want you to know more people have made
- 47:33Speaker 2: fun that. I didn't realize five oh Tuesday was five
- 47:35Speaker 2: oh Tuesday on Tuesday.
- 47:37Speaker 3: But no, I mean I do hate that the locals
- 47:40Speaker 3: have slowly kind of been pushed out over the years.
- 47:43Speaker 3: But at the same time, Kentucky Derby has become such
- 47:47Speaker 3: a huge event, not just only in this city but worldwide.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Everybody wants to come to the Kentucky Derby because it
- 47:55Speaker 3: is the first of the Triple Crown races. It's gorgeous
- 47:58Speaker 3: here at Churchill obviously. I mean, there's there's a lot
- 48:01Speaker 3: to do about this Kentucky Derby. So it's I understand
- 48:04Speaker 3: Churchill Downs kind of pushing out the locals, but the
- 48:07Speaker 3: locals are what made the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Derby exactly.
- 48:11Speaker 2: If it weren't for the locals, we wouldn't be here
- 48:14Speaker 2: in the first place. So I don't like it. I
- 48:17Speaker 2: don't I understand why Churchill downs made the decision to
- 48:23Speaker 2: make the Oaks a late night event because it's going
- 48:27Speaker 2: to be on prime time as much as uh yeah,
- 48:30Speaker 2: but here's my yes.
- 48:32Speaker 3: Who's who's seeking out the Oaks, Who's hosting Oaks watch parties?
- 48:36Speaker 3: Who's who's doing any of that? Nobody?
- 48:39Speaker 2: Not yet, Nobody. There was a point, No, there was
- 48:43Speaker 2: a point where nobody was having Derby parties. There was
- 48:46Speaker 2: a point where nobody was seeking out the Kentucky Derby.
- 48:49Speaker 2: So maybe five ten years down the road, guess what
- 48:52Speaker 2: they're now going to be celebrating the Kentucky Derby and
- 48:56Speaker 2: h are the Kentucky Oaks like they do the Kentucky.
- 48:59Speaker 3: But you're telling me all Billy Joe in upstate New
- 49:02Speaker 3: York is like, man, where can I get my Kentucky
- 49:05Speaker 3: Oaks coverage? No, because nobody cares. Everybody cares about the
- 49:09Speaker 3: Kentucky Derby. Only locals care about the Kentucky Oaks. Am
- 49:13Speaker 3: I wrong?
- 49:14Speaker 2: I think we have an opinion coming up right now.
- 49:17Speaker 2: So he's standing here. Do you have something you want
- 49:20Speaker 2: to say to us, sir about this? Yes? You do,
- 49:28Speaker 2: Yes you do, Mark Michael Bennett. Nice, nice to say,
- 49:32Speaker 2: all right, Mark, No, you're not walking away. I would
- 49:35Speaker 2: like to hear your opinion, cause you know, you've got
- 49:38Speaker 2: keenlan on yous and you got Phasing tipt In on you.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Is he on? Yes, sir? You do your opinion on
- 49:51Speaker 2: what Churchill downs has done with the Kentucky Oaks? Do
- 49:57Speaker 2: you like it that? Because that's kind of the question,
- 49:59Speaker 2: this monk. That's that's a question.
- 50:06Speaker 7: It's going to be answered come Friday night, for sure.
- 50:12Speaker 7: You know, as you know, a lot of people unhappy
- 50:14Speaker 7: about it.
- 50:16Speaker 2: But but we'll see.
- 50:17Speaker 7: We're going to see what kind of impact it has
- 50:21Speaker 7: on viewership exposure and betting, uh as well so in
- 50:27Speaker 7: prime time because I but I do understand the local
- 50:32Speaker 7: restaurant people's well, not just the local restaurant but also
- 50:35Speaker 7: the fans as well.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Now I understand why Bill Carstanden is doing this because listen,
- 50:41Speaker 2: he's got a fiduciary commitment to his stockholders and he
- 50:44Speaker 2: has to do this. But you know, you don't know
- 50:47Speaker 2: if it's going to become popular until you.
- 50:50Speaker 7: Exactly exactly, and let's not let's let's remember one thing.
- 50:54Speaker 7: You know, it's because of the Oaks and the Derby
- 50:58Speaker 7: as to why we're here exactly, okay, so you know
- 51:02Speaker 7: we'll go from there. But yeah, I'm I'm certainly you know,
- 51:07Speaker 7: in good standing with Churchill Downs people, and let's let
- 51:10Speaker 7: it play out and see what happens.
- 51:12Speaker 2: That's my position for everyone to know. Tell us what
- 51:15Speaker 2: you do in the horse.
- 51:16Speaker 7: Racing pinhook pin hook quite a bit, and by by
- 51:20Speaker 7: your links to two year olds and race a little
- 51:23Speaker 7: bit under what now h.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Mark board. Yeah you can, you can, you can give
- 51:29Speaker 2: your name out. I like the fact that we have
- 51:32Speaker 2: the exact same shirt on.
- 51:33Speaker 7: Did you notice that Tommy is my trainer and good friend?
- 51:37Speaker 7: And yeah, so we'll we'll be out there racing. It's
- 51:42Speaker 7: only my fifty second at all, it's only my co derby.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I love. And you're a lot of.
- 51:50Speaker 7: Changes to your point this morning, so and.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Majority of them have been good changes, haven't they. Absolutely?
- 51:57Speaker 2: So for sure, let's give it a chance what happens.
- 52:00Speaker 7: But yeah, yeah, yeah, I've seen a lot of changes
- 52:04Speaker 7: around here in fifty two years for.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Sure, because you're born and raised weary right here in
- 52:09Speaker 2: Louis of Kentucky exactly. Yeah for having absolutely good to
- 52:13Speaker 2: see you. Yeah. So he taught me how to do interviews.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Oh he did, oh my, but you know, I see,
- 52:27Speaker 2: I'm kinda of the mindset try it because it's going
- 52:32Speaker 2: to be good for the city in the long run.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Good for Listen, this is the one week two weeks
- 52:40Speaker 2: where we draw the most people to come visit the city.
- 52:45Speaker 2: This is a good way to sell the city the state.
- 52:49Speaker 2: And I get people not liking that because I'll give
- 52:53Speaker 2: you another example. So there are a few people that
- 52:55Speaker 2: are very involved with the Kentucky Derby this year that
- 52:59Speaker 2: may or may I have horses in the in the
- 53:03Speaker 2: race that are like, you know what, it's going so late,
- 53:06Speaker 2: we get a long day. The next day we're gonna
- 53:08Speaker 2: skip out on the Kentucky Oaks. So you look at that,
- 53:13Speaker 2: it's like, wow, I get it.
- 53:17Speaker 3: I mean, it is tough, but honestly, the whole time
- 53:20Speaker 3: Mark was sitting there talking, I'm the one thing that's
- 53:22Speaker 3: going through my head is it's kind of like Kentucky
- 53:24Speaker 3: basketball next season, right, Yes, we can't judge what it's
- 53:29Speaker 3: gonna be until we actually see it and see how it.
- 53:31Speaker 2: All works and see the product out.
- 53:33Speaker 3: It's very similar with the Kentucky.
- 53:34Speaker 2: And that's why I'm trying to keep myself in check
- 53:37Speaker 2: with Mark Pope in Kentucky basketball. Right now, right now,
- 53:41Speaker 2: if you want to ask me how I feel about
- 53:43Speaker 2: UK basketball, and I'm completely honest and transparent. I'm disappointed, Sure,
- 53:50Speaker 2: I'm nervous. Now is the sky falling in? Is this
- 53:54Speaker 2: the death of UK basketball? Like a reporter up in
- 53:57Speaker 2: Indianapolis likes to say this, I predicted a long time ago. No,
- 54:01Speaker 2: it's not just because players are getting paid today doesn't
- 54:06Speaker 2: mean UK basketball is going to disappear. UK basketball will
- 54:11Speaker 2: have its moment to shine. It will come back, I mean.
- 54:14Speaker 2: And the reason I know that because Kansas is still succeeding. Sure,
- 54:18Speaker 2: Duke is still succeeding, Yukon is still succeeding. So don't
- 54:22Speaker 2: tell me, mister idiot up in Annapolis that this is
- 54:26Speaker 2: gonna be the worst thing for UK basketball.
- 54:29Speaker 3: And everything you just said can be turned around and
- 54:32Speaker 3: echoed with the Kentucky Oaks. Am I disappointed that they
- 54:35Speaker 3: moved it to the last race? Sure, but does that
- 54:38Speaker 3: mean the Kentucky Oaks is going away. No, it just
- 54:40Speaker 3: means we're figuring out a new way to do things right.
- 54:43Speaker 2: It's just the change of a tradition that we've all
- 54:46Speaker 2: been used to. And I do get that the restaurants
- 54:50Speaker 2: are up in arms about this, but not everybody's going
- 54:52Speaker 2: to the track. And to simply close down and say, well,
- 54:57Speaker 2: we're gonna just shut our doors for all week that's
- 55:00Speaker 2: a mistake on your part.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Decision, that's a baby mentality. Yeah, let's take our ball
- 55:06Speaker 3: and go home. We're not even going to play.
- 55:07Speaker 2: One of the longtime restaurants that I've grown up going
- 55:10Speaker 2: to all my life, and I'm not gonna call them
- 55:12Speaker 2: out because I love the place has just simply said, well,
- 55:16Speaker 2: we're gonna shut our doors all weekend. And I think.
- 55:19Speaker 2: I look at that and I think that's a mistake.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Not everybody's going to the track. So you got one
- 55:24Speaker 2: hundred and some one thousand people that'll be out here.
- 55:26Speaker 2: You mean all those people are only going to your restaurant,
- 55:29Speaker 2: So no people come to Louisville and don't even come
- 55:33Speaker 2: to the track. There'll be people that don't even stay
- 55:36Speaker 2: for the Oaks. They'll be here part of the day,
- 55:38Speaker 2: they'll leave early, but they still want to go out
- 55:41Speaker 2: to dinner. Yeah, so they'll be well, they'll be here
- 55:46Speaker 2: on Thursday nights, they'll be here on Wednesday night. It's
- 55:48Speaker 2: just going to get early and early that people come.
- 55:51Speaker 2: The Kentucky Derby is no longer just an event for
- 55:55Speaker 2: Friday Saturday and people are out of here. They're coming
- 55:58Speaker 2: here and staying a lot longer. They want to see
- 56:01Speaker 2: more racing than just the wonder two days.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I mean, that's the good thing about having racing all week.
- 56:08Speaker 2: I guess exactly. Well, that's first time they've done it
- 56:11Speaker 2: in thirteen fourteen years where Churchill Downs open up Saturday
- 56:17Speaker 2: and then they had racing yesterday as well. I love it.
- 56:21Speaker 2: They had great crowd Saturday, they had great crowds Sunday.
- 56:24Speaker 2: They'll be shut down today, but they'll be opening again tomorrow.
- 56:26Speaker 2: They'll have big crowds all week long, so there's time
- 56:30Speaker 2: to make up what they would have earned on Friday
- 56:33Speaker 2: night of Oaks Night. Sure, so let's give it a try,
- 56:37Speaker 2: just like you're right, Just like with UK basketball, I'm
- 56:40Speaker 2: gonna hold my opinion on how I feel about that.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Let's just see what kind of product Mark Pope can
- 56:45Speaker 2: put on the floor.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Now to you personally, Yes, has the Oaks being moved
- 56:49Speaker 3: back done anything to affect the way that you're going
- 56:52Speaker 3: to navigate on Friday aboute because it has for me?
- 56:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, absolutely, I will not be here for that.
- 56:57Speaker 2: We generally have a lot of people over Friday night
- 57:00Speaker 2: of Oaks Night to our home, and we're not even
- 57:03Speaker 2: doing that this year, so it's too late. Oh yeah,
- 57:07Speaker 2: I mean generally, like my good friends we were talking
- 57:12Speaker 2: about earlier, Hans and on the Marion, who I'm so
- 57:14Speaker 2: happy they were at our house last year for a
- 57:17Speaker 2: big party we had. And it's like, I assume y'all
- 57:20Speaker 2: aren't doing that, I said Hans. He goes, I'm glad
- 57:23Speaker 2: because you don't get there till nine thirty ten o'clock
- 57:26Speaker 2: and you want to go to bed in an hour.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but at least in that scenario you're not gonna
- 57:30Speaker 3: have to fight traffic. The traffic on Friday night around
- 57:33Speaker 3: here is gonna be going to be horrendous. You're absolutely horrendous. Yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 3: because everybody's leaving at the same time. That's the other issue,
- 57:42Speaker 3: and which puts fans in a tough position. Right, do
- 57:45Speaker 3: you leave to beat the rush of traffic and potentially
- 57:48Speaker 3: hope that you get home and before the Oaks so
- 57:50Speaker 3: you can watch it on TV. Or do you hang
- 57:52Speaker 3: out with the Oaks and just say screw it, we're
- 57:54Speaker 3: sitting in traffic. People are just gonna have to do
- 57:56Speaker 3: a lot more planning than they've had to in the past.
- 57:58Speaker 2: And there might be a lot of people that do that. Said,
- 58:01Speaker 2: you know what, I'm really here for the Kentucky Derby.
- 58:03Speaker 2: The Oaks is a nice add on, but I'm going
- 58:06Speaker 2: to be out of here. It's just with with what's
- 58:08Speaker 2: happening here, and you know, I do want to get
- 58:10Speaker 2: to the restaurant, and so I think people will stay
- 58:12Speaker 2: for a few of the races on Oaks Day and
- 58:14Speaker 2: then decide to leave. It'll be interesting to see what
- 58:17Speaker 2: happens as far as the on track betting, if it
- 58:20Speaker 2: affects the on track betting here at Churchill Down. So
- 58:23Speaker 2: I certainly didn't expect to have this kind of a
- 58:25Speaker 2: conversation today, but I like that one person said they
- 58:29Speaker 2: have been killing Pope and calling him with King, but
- 58:33Speaker 2: he is real close to putting together contender. Take a
- 58:36Speaker 2: look position by position not bad. I'm with you. Right there.
- 58:43Speaker 2: That's why I'm I'm really keeping my mouth shut right now.
- 58:47Speaker 2: I'm not willing to say that. Okay, yeah, because I
- 58:52Speaker 2: do see all the memes out there on social media
- 58:55Speaker 2: and then where he's okay, yeah, mems kind of like muffles.
- 58:59Speaker 2: But I do see him, and I'm not willing to
- 59:02Speaker 2: go there yet. I mean, give the guy a chance.
- 59:05Speaker 2: And then even if it isn't a team of a
- 59:08Speaker 2: bunch of name players that we're all excited about, doesn't
- 59:12Speaker 2: necessarily mean it's gonna be a bad team.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you got it all shakes out. The
- 59:16Speaker 3: only issue that I have right now would be the bigs.
- 59:20Speaker 3: I mean, I'm very concerned with that four and five position.
- 59:23Speaker 3: I get it. Malik Ivy in a second year should
- 59:26Speaker 3: should be a lot more improved. Maybe in Dai comes
- 59:29Speaker 3: in and provides some nice things, But you gotta get
- 59:32Speaker 3: some bigs. Uh.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Let me see if I can get through this one.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Uh well, no, there's a few here. Good Lord, did
- 59:40Speaker 2: I get him? All? The sultry cooning of Butter Bennett
- 59:43Speaker 2: has the backside swooning in more ways than one this morning.
- 59:48Speaker 2: You're not gonna be hard on Churchill, Churchill, this morning.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Uh there you said it again. Real mature, realmature. Yeah,
- 59:59Speaker 2: thanks a lot.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Even the text tried to save you early.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Well, I know you're exactly correct, so let me call
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: you right peck. But I know.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: What do you want me to do?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: It's my son. These birds are driving me crazy. Yeah,
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: we got that one. Oaks and Derby was always fun
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: for the locals, and the infield was uh for the
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: common folk that has been killed off, just like the
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Central Block party. Oh, I didn't think about that. I
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: forgot about the Central Block.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: I don't even know what that is.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Yeah, they used to have a big party down here
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: on Central every Friday night before Derby and that's that's
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: completely gone. Now interesting. Yeah, thank you for reminding me
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: of that. One person said, Uh, of course, it takes
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: forever to come up. So uh, let's go ahead. I'll
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: get back to your text messages in just a minute.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Five O two three eight four fourteen fifty. Uh, don't
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: do that, please, but you can text in on the
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line it is musclemn. Follow to four
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: We're backside at Churchill as the horses come back out here.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Isn't that pretty gorgeous? It is? I mean, could we
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: should do the radio show out here every day show?
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: Let's do it? Would you like this? I'm in look at.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: These horses and then you see live horses out there too.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Beast women, good one, pretty horses, good one. All right?
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Seen a minute.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: This is just as.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Saved some ground on the inside. But look for racing room.
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: Blue brass Cat is also moving up along the inside
- 1:01:45Speaker 8: point determined.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Looks for racing room. They moved to the.
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: Top of the stretch.
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: Sinister Minister now takes command.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: It's sinister Minister.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: In Barbaro Barbara with a quick purs to speed.
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: Barbara on the outside taking command. Sinister Minister drops back.
- 1:02:00Speaker 8: Here comes Blue brass Cant with a quick move top
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: of the stretch in.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: The derby and Barbara draws clear.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: It's Barbara in front showing up.
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: Is in the second position. Blue bress Cat is third,
- 1:02:11Speaker 8: and damn not spect. They come ken the Kentucky Derby
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: and Barbara's running away.
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: It's Hector Cradle Lord and Barbara. He's gonna win this
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: jervy by six legs. Blue past Cant second from bar back,
- 1:02:25Speaker 9: Steppenwolfer came on to be third, and from last I
- 1:02:28Speaker 9: believe it was Jazzle coming up to finished off the
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: super EFFECTA what a performance.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Barbara when ready it was? I want to continue to
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: listen to it, Quinn. I could listen to that call
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: a thousand times and I got I still have cold
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: chills listening to it. And you know, I've told you
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: the story about Michael Mattz and we took the boys
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: to the backside I guess they were probably ten and
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: twelve at the time, and Michael Max, who was a
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: trainer of Barbara, said, now, Max, Mason, take this mint
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: and give it to that horse over there. So they went.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Because Michael knew that Max and Mason had grown up
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: around horses, so he knew he could trust them, he
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: allows him to do it. They come back and says,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: now you know that was Barbara. Huh. And and what
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: trainer does that? Let's two little kids give a mint
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: to their derby potential horse and then turns around and
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: wins it. I mean, I just still to this day,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: I can't believe Michael Mattz did that. And uh, my boys,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: that that memory has been burned in their brains for
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: their entire life. So h I love Barbara cried like
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: a baby when he got injured because you knew it,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: uh ineviably was gonna be happening. But because I still
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: feel like this to this day. If Barbara had not
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: gotten injured, I firmly believed he could have been a
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Chipwlek Crown record without a doubt.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Didn't he didn't win the crow.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: No, he got in in the preetness, and then they did.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: The Jacksons who owned Barbara did everything they could to
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: save his life, and it just unfortunately didn't happen. So
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: which is really an unfortunate But let's see here forty
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: eight Handley said, now they move the oaks tonight racing
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: the Derby is not far behind. It'll have to do
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: with TV viewership tradition matters. How does that iconic song go,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Oh the Sean shine bright on my old Kentucky home,
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: sun don't shine at night? And you're right about that.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: That'll be weird singing that song.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, Well they'll have the lights on, so
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: the lights shine bright. I mean, I mean you could
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: change it to that. I mean, they certainly changed the
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: lyrics on some other parts of the song, but one
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: person said, Barbara prepped for the Derby on the grass.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: I did not know that. I wonder, don't look at me.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: I I have no idea. The thoughts are processes of
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: training a horse. I have no idea why some of
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: them put on blinkers, why some of them don't. I mean,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: how do they know? What are the indications?
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: Let me ask you this, all right, because it's not blinkers.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: But I saw something different. I was watching a little
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: bit of horse racing this weekend. Yeah, there are horses
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: that are wearing basically like blankets across their face. Now
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: what is that? I mean, I assume it serves the
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: same purpose as blinkers.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: It does, I don't know.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: It looks weird.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Is it more comfortable for them? I mean it looks like, yeah,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: it looks like Halloween night and they've even decorated their
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: horse for Halloween. I mean it is weird. If you
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: watch European horse racing, they do all kinds of wild
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: stuff and it looks like it looks so fufu. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm not a big big one on this.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Let's throw some goggles on horses. Yeah, I'm right there
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: with you. That is true? Yeah? Why not? I mean
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: I had some goggles on my dog one day. Uh,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: John here, all right, this is what I am thinking
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: so far. Give me potent renegade, chief Wallaby and commandment
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Challablet's see, I knew you were gonna say that. So
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: tell me how should I wager this? Uh? Should I
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: do a superfecta box? Should I break them up into
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: some type of other bets? Like take my two favorites
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: to be an exacta and some others to show, or
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: a trifecta with one to show? What about the all wheel? Uh? Listen,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: it's too long to read. You're I'm not the gambling guy.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I I gamble on me. I don't gamble on horses.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Will you go with? How would you answer and suggest
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: to John how should he should go with his weekend?
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: I would go with an exacta box including all four
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: of those, and then I would go with a trifle
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: efecta box, also including all four of those. You don't
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: want to mess with putting them in the right order,
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: because you'll get two of the three right and the
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: other one will be somewhere else and that'll tick you off.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: So the safest bet to me, if you want to
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: go with an exotic like that, box it, just make
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: sure to box it. That way you're protected. It's kind
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: of like buying insurance. If you're playing blackjack and the
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: dealer has an a shown and they offer you insurance.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: It's kind of like that. That's the way I view
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: boxing horse pats.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: Is that typically how you bet most of the time
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: when you're doing something like that.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Trifecta is an exactness. Yes, not typically. I'm more of
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: like a win play show better. I just think I
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: think for me that's much more fun. So like in
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: John scenario, I would take all four of those horses,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: I would throw two across the board to win play show.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: So twenty four total bucks. If you're lucky, three of
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: those are gonna come in and you end up getting
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: I don't know, fifty bucks out of it. So you
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: don't win a lot doing win play shows, especially when
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: you're going on favorites. But to me, that's the most
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: fun way to bet.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: But you win, I mean walking away with money better
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: than walking away without anybody. That's what That's where I'm
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: just terrible at it.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I have.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: I've never been good now.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. I'm gonna be doing a lot
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: of odd even bets this year that I can guarante that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: I'm with you right there. That seems like a lot
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: of fun. Yes, just go up to the window. Boom,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: I went odd and I'm done. I love it.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: I'm literally gonna flip a coin heads odds, tails even,
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: and that's what I'm.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Gonna I know. There was one year, probably five or
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: six years ago, where I won the race. My buddy
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: that's with me says, let it ride, and I did.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: I let it ride five races in a row, kept
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: winning and I'm like I'm done. He goes, oh, Michael,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: you gotta go. I'm like, no, no, no, I'm done.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: So uh uh yeah, my my, my buddy that owns
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: So Happy, Hans Maren, he he got he locked it in.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Where uh they were They had odds of a hundred
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: to one for So Happy. So he has a bet.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I'm so happy at one hundred to one.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: It was a future.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: It was a few. Yeah, he is that confident in
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: his horse.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: That's weird. Always every year it's weird that they offer
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: those futures where you can just lock in your price
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: because horse racing is so much about para mutuals and
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: everybody like. For instance, two weekends ago, I bet on
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: a horse, Michael, I promise you going to the gate
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: was eight to one.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Race started. I'm like, man, I'm feeling great. This horse
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: is like three to one in the morning line. Race started,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: it was three to one.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Ah see that sucks. I hate that.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: How in thirty five seconds did this horse go from
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: eight to one to three to one.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it kicks me off. I'm right there with you.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: John here again, Hey, Michael, and Justin uh Mika, uh oh,
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: you're killing me. Mirror in In Aka the Slim Jesus
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: of basketball can mirroring him. All right. We'll be making
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: his decision on his college basketball choice today. He will
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: be picking Arkansas. Most individuals think, I wish it was
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: the Cats. He got his nickname from Cam Wilder, a
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: YouTube basketball player creator and is uh and he is
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: a coach that does AAU teams and films it for YouTube.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: By gosh, don't worry about uh It. Players for Kentucky
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: will be coming this week and I think a big
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: name will be committing. All right. So a lot of
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: people have been saying that uh Tyron Stokes will be
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: committing today. Jeff Goodman has posted it out and one
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: person says, yeah, it's not happening today. He even Jeff
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Goodman responded back to him, Yeah, I don't think so either.
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: What are they say in talladagan eyes, dear eight point
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: six ounds? Baby, baby, Jesus, please let Tyrone Stokes commit today.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: I don't even care where he goes, just let him
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: commit somewhere.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Well, they're saying that Mark Pope was headed to uh
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: an in a big time player. Uh doing an in
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: home visit today, So you wonder who that player is
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: and could it be someone like that?
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Can you imagine what the response to Tyrone Stokes potentially
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: committing to Kentucky would do for this fan base. You
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: go from downtrodden, our coach doesn't know what he's doing.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Are we even gonna be any good next year? To
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Holy smokes National championships on the table. We got the
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: best player in college basketball. I mean it would completely
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: change the whole mindset of Kentucky's fan base.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, It changes the whole dynamic for so many
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: different things. That's why all the memes that are out there,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: you gotta stop because you know these players are looking
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: at it. Yeah, and I know because I'm in patient
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: as well. I'm probably more impatient than ninety nine percent
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: of the people out there, but for some reason, I've
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: tried to stay patient with this. Let's just see how
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: it plays out and then let's make a prediction. Now
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: if he gets some of these no name players, and
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: I still going to do my best to be patient
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: to see how they show up on the court. Again,
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I go back to year one of Mark Pope, and uh,
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: I just we didn't know any of them. Only one
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: we kind of knew was otaken. Look how he turned out.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: So I'm just like, let's just wait and see. Now
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: the part I was surprised about. Did you see where
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Rajon Rondo's name has come up for the head coaching
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: job with New Orleans? Yes, Repelicans. Wait what you're hearing me? Correctly,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: his name is in the mix for the head coaching
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: job with the New Orleans Pelicans.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: Okay, I've got a lot of issues here. One's never
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: been a coach. Well, b we're just gonna throw him
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: into the top league across the world in the NBA. See,
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: he never even played for the Pelicans, so what's the
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: connection there that is weird?
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: It may be in hopes that his eighth grader going
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: into ninth grade joints the Pelicans in the next five
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: or six years.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: I have no but I was surprised by it. But listen,
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: you never know. I mean, I'm still surprised. I listened
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: to an interview of Derek Anderson a week or two ago,
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: and the way he talks, Why isn't Mark Pope looking
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: at bringing him on board? Derek Anderson interview with anybody?
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I'd like to have him come on with us sometime.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: I might call him after the show today see if
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: he'd come on. And he is so well spoken and
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: exciting and energetic. I don't know if you've ever read
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: his book or not. He wrote a book about three
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: or four years ago about his how he grew up
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: here in Louisville and the setbacks that he went through
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: and all the different things personally that he had to
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: overcome with a mom that was had an addiction that ues.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: She'd be gone for days at a time and he
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: would sleep in front of their apartment door to know
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: when she got home. I mean, it's just amazing story.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: What he's done. I'm a big fan of Derek Anderson.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: I hope he does get a coaching job someday, and
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: I certainly hope it's going to be at the University
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: of Kentucky.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: Well, I will say here on April twenty seventh, and Michael,
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: this is only good for you and I. But you
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: see that branch right there seems pretty sturdy. Right, I'm
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: going to stand all that, and I'm going to say,
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: will not get.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: I'm not going to say that you never know? Okay,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: all right, then, well you just you never know?
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: You want to give him a high school job somewhere
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: that'd be I'm all for that. Yeah, let's true. No,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: I would, I think to the NBA is crazy.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Well, that's the part. I'm surprised south Oldham hasn't looked
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: at hiring him as an assistant.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Coach North Northold or I'm sorry, northold he ain't going anywhere.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying head coach, I'm saying assistant coach.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: You think little little Rondo wants to play for Pop Pop?
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: No way? Well, if I was UK, I would be
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: looking at bringing him on an assistant coach. I say
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: what you want, but U what do you think about
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: Diego Pavia.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Told you so is what I think about it. I
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: knew that bum wouldn't get drafted the NFL draft. He
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: might get picked up by a team, but he's gonna
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: be quickly cut because he does not belong in the NFL.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: And I told you that. I told you that.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: You were hardcore, the first Heisman finalists since twenty fourteenth
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: to go undrafted. Here's the part about it. He invited
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: all his friends and family over in hopes of getting
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: a call, and it didn't happen. Yeah, what about the
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: Clemson player? Did you? Uh? I don't have his name
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: in front of me. He was the number two pick.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: He had all his family over. They're dressed in David
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: was it? Uh? Who was the David Bailey was the number,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: the big, the big lineman. I had to get it back,
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: but that was a big story that you know. He
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: dressed all his family in white, bought his sisters maseratis
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: before you even gets drafted, or ferraris or something some
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: kind of fancy car. Yeah, I think that's okay.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Why not give back to the people that have been
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: so supportive of you over the years.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: Given a different way, don't go out and spend all
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: your money at once.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: He's got more money than I'll ever be able to spend.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: You don't know that, but okay, I'm just of a
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: different mindset. Mendoza didn't do that. He was the number
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: one draft pick. Should he have done that for his
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: mom and dad?
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: Mendoza also, I mean he's done that in different ways.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Like did you know he got one point nine mil
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: in nil last year in Indiana and he gave it? Yeah,
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: gave it all away.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Right, It's incredible exactly. So there're gonna be more people
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: that give to him than he can give away because
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: of how he has acted. You can like dislike Fernando
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: Mendoza and IU Football dislikes it, but I don't see
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: how you do. I mean, I've always been the same
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: mindset with Tom Brady. I mean, people are jealous and
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: that's why they dislike when there's a winner out there.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: Tom Brady has always been a winner. Even though I
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: didn't root for the Patriots, even though I wasn't a
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Michigan fan, I like what he stood for. Just like
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: with Mendoza. You'll never hear me knock Mendoza because I
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: absolutely love and appreciate what that young man stands for
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: it and it's all about family he really is, and
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: the fact that he did not go to the draft
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and he wanted to stay with his mom and dad
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: and his family. I did like the one. Guess a
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: draft announcer. I think it was for the if I
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: remember correctly, it was for the Packers. And she gets
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: up there, she goes, I'll only be a minute, Pittsburgh,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: just like your playoffs.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: Wow, good one.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: I thought that was So you don't like that. You
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: don't think that's funny.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: No, because it's cutting on my teams.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: I don't like it because it's cutting on my team.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: Okay, I thought it was a great joking. I love
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: every second of it. But uh, anyway, all right, we
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: gotta take another break. We're gonna talk some UK baseball.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Uh and uh we're gonna talk about you know, NBA
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: playoffs because man, we had some squaring up over the weekend.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about that as well. So take a break.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Five O two four one four fourteen fifty. You want
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: to text me in on the Whiskey feed text line,
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: We'll see a minute.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: This is just a step.
- 1:18:41Speaker 10: First I'm gonna say the word is on my head.
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: I'm tired of the things been do headed, things, been
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: seconding second don't.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: You My gosh is just blown. I promise you. It
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: feels like we've been on the air for ten minutes.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: It does.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: I just can't believe we just got a few minutes left.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Five two, four, fourteen fifty. You want to text in
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: Let me get back to a few of these. Uh,
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Blinkers keep a horse more focus as it limits their
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: peripheral vision. Correct, he's just making sure we know that.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: So I knew that too, but I just want to
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: make sure everybody out there does.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: But it also is used to get a horse to
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: show more early speed. Who hasn't displayed that? Now?
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: I did not know that now? Is that because they
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: can't see everybody else? I assume?
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, so they just want to start running, get
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: out of there.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Could you imagine running blond? What if humans had to do?
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: What if for the marathon this past weekend you had
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: runners with blinkers on and runners without blinkers?
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Could you imagine that's what I would need? Though, I
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: probably need to do this radio show in blinkers today. Okay,
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: that's the entire we I need to do it.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Let's put a box over your head so you can't
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: see anybody.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. I did that to my cat one time,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: and my wife didn't think it was funny. So sorry.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: I am the most humane person, Okay, I promise you
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: that sane but humane. But I don't know. Speaking of marathons,
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: did you see the guy that Sebastian saw ran the
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: London Marathon, ran it faster than anybody has ever done.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: They swore up and down nobody would ever be able
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: to beat two hours, and he did it in one
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: hour and fifty nine minutes. He could just marathon.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: Picture that, twenty six miles and an hour and fifty
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: nine minutes.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: I'm not convinced I can drive twenty six miles in
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: an hour and fifty six minutes.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Yees Now, I didn't see where he was from. He's
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: probably from I think Kenya. Okay, so is it because
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: they run away from lying? I think that.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: I think the top three was Kenya Ethio.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: Uh, well, see the Euopian guy broke two hours too,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: he did. Yeah, so there's two guys that have now
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: broken it. I don't under I cannot relate to that.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: It had it had happened before, or somebody broke two
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: hours in a marathon, but they had like people coming
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: in and like setting a pace with them and all
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: that stuff, so it didn't officially count because they now
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: wait a minute, so they would have like people just
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: sub in and run with him to make sure he.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Keeps as Wow. Yeah, oh that is cheating. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: So this is the first one without assistance that has
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: been undertoo.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't be able to do two miles in two
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: and a half hours, probably not. I'm right there with you. Yeah,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I did that five k at
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: down in Tampa a couple of weeks ago. That was fun.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I did it, and I don't remember it was. It
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: was a little bit thirty minutes.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: They should do a five k here.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: It was on the runway. It was on the runway
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: at Tampa International.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Are you telling me?
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: The coolest thing I've ever done? And I don't know
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: why they wouldn't do that here too.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: They should do a five k like around the turf field,
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: around the turf course.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: That would be fun, right if you did it right
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: here in Churchill Downs on the turf yeah, I would
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: do that for sure. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: Now the dirt, I don't think you can that dirt
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: is deep. I don't think people realize how deep the
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: dirt is are on the dirt.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Track, and they don't realize that it's mostly sand.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: I mean it covers their hooves when they step.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's crazy. And it's sand. So there's a
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: little dirt in it, but you know, it's Ohio River.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: What dirt right there?
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: It looks a little too clean.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you watch the Zurip Classic over the weekend.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: I didn't, but I did see the wholesome story with
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: Mat Fitzpatrick's brother.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: That was awesome. That was cool. Did you see the
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: alligator that walked up on the tee? That was cool?
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: From nineteen eighty yeah or eighteen ninety, I'm in I
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: mean that thing was old.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it was huge. Yeah I saw that, and I'm like,
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: I am not getting close to that thing. But all right.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: I think the big news over the weekend was the
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: NBA Playoffs, where and McDaniels square it up at the
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: end of the Denver Minnesota game, of course, and then
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Julius Randall, former UK basketball player, gets into the mix.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: It was the biggest scrum. It looked like it looked
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: like stinking baseball fight.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you saw what led to it, right, Oh, it's.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Because one of the players, was it mcdan's that goes
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: up and shoot the shot. I'll lay up with like
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: one second one okay, So what of course Jo gets mad?
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Will everybody stop playing? Well, he didn't stop playing. McDaniels
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: didn't stop playing. So what if he made the shot?
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: And that's what he came out and said. McDaniels did. Well, basically,
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: the game wasn't over, so I'm gonna keep playing exactly.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: There's gotta be within sports. I feel like there's a
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: gentleman's agreement, agreement, whether you agree with it or not.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: If the game's out of hand and the other team
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: can't come back and win, what are you doing going
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: into score?
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: But I get it from McDaniel's side of things too,
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: like if you didn't want me to score, then stop me.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, see, I didn't have a problem with what
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: he did, because you know what, just because you're stopping
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: playing doesn't mean oh oh, then I need to stop
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: playing now.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: I was on side.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Oh you were okay, all right? Fair enough?
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: And McDaniel's trying to fight him would have been a
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: huge mistake.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: He would kill But but but the fact that Jokins
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: went all the way down to in front of their
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: bench to get on to McDaniel and then Julius Randall,
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: I'm not fighting Julius Randall. You don't.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: Nobody ticks off Jokins. So you know something I had
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: to seriously go wrong if he's mad.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: One person said, all it took was a Jason less
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: bean in a Benjamin less Snell for the Jesters to
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: start playing like King's spiteful. Bennett has to be pounding
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: his fist on the table. Did you see that they
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: blew out Dallas yesterday? That was But but you know
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: what they it took a quarterback though I'm not I'm
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: not blaming Benny Sneill on this one. And I listen,
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: it took a new quarterback, and boy they did they
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: put it to Dallas. Nobody was at that game.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: Do you see what the do you see if the
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: running back for the Kings did no four touchdowns? I
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: think we know why Benny Snell was like that.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: All right, then, all right, well, I just hated to
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: see it because I'm a big Linn Bowden fan, and
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: I'm a big Benny Snell fan, so I was disappointed
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: for that. H justin look up the call c aw
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: class action. If you want to know how odds make
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: wild swings after the races go off, you'll be uh
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: wowd yeah c A w all right. I haven't heard
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: that before, so that's that would be interesting to look up.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: One person says players need to be more financially responsible
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: with their money. Going out and buying expensive cars right
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: away always makes me worry that these guys will be
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: broke and out of the league too soon. I'm with
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: him right there. Uh suit, he hasn't even gotten the
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: first check from the team he's going to be Playing's fine.
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: If he goes broke, those people will give him his
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: money back.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, what was the movie? Who said entourages are expensive?
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Scoot's timey Kangaroo down Sport? Uh song talks about your
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: wallabies too. Heck yeah, we need to look at that
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: one up. Patrick said, is your how much did Kentucky
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: make on their one day of giving?
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: I'm not familiar.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: I'm not either. Uh let's probably Patrick. Why are we
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: tearing up the table right now?
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: I'm just trying to get prepared for what I got to.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: Matt's been in the studios in seven He's gonna want
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: me back Asaph.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: What would you sell? Let's see. Let me get to
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: make sure. Is your friend's horse in the derby? Michael, Yes,
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: my friend's horse. I mentioned that first hour. My friend's
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: horse is so happy. So that's the Mark Glatt horse
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: and being ridden by Mike Smith. You know, Mike Smith,
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: the trainer of old the jockey will be the oldest
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: jockey to ever Mike Smith. I think it's like sixty
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: sixty one crazy. That's what's so cool about it, exactly.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: That's what is so cool about horse racing is that
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: you can be old and out there riding a horse,
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: so in in the biggest.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: You're a sore for a lot longer than you used
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: to be.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: Probably true. But when I ran into Mike last week,
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: he had the biggest smile on his face and he
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: looks super fit. I mean, he looked fantastic. The four
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: minute mile was seen as that same barrier years ago.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: Roger Bannister and Englishman was was first, Okay, I didn't
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: know that, that's stupid. And then one person said take
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: your big blue shades off. Michael Binny is washed. That
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: might be the case, but that doesn't take away that
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: I like Benny Snell. Okay, I just I'm a big
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: fan of Benny Snell.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: I don't anybody's hating you for that?
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean I'm not trying to take my
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: big blue shades off. I do try to take them
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: off every now and then. The other text was, oh,
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: so okay, thanks. The other text was for KOC not
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: the first one this morning, KFC KRC. Well whatever that
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: show is, but anyway, it's a k SEE without the
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: original people on it, which I'm disappointed. I miss my
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: Nick Roush. He's gonna be on with us someday this week.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: I think Wednesday's going to join Wednesday. Okay, so you
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: get him for two days. I get him for maybe.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Simply better than you.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: You're simply as Yeah, who's the lady that saying? Tina Turner?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: There you go? So all right? Uh? What else should
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: we talk about? Is it gonna happen today? Is Tyrone
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Stokes really going to commit today? What odds do you
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: speaking of odds, what odds do you give that I would.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Put it at plus one so get plus money.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Really, I think you're being generous.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I don't see a world where that happens.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: But then again, I haven't kept up with this whole recruitment,
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: so I don't. Maybe there is something in the back
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: channels where he finally feels good about a certain school.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: One person texted in KRC extra crispy now not the
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: original recipe.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: More like without the breading. Oh my grill?
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: Well, you know what I like, grilled.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: Chicken, redfield letting it little chest hair out? Is he
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: really he undid the top button for this spot?
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: Okay? Wow, Okay, I'm glad you're watching that. Uh. Anyway,
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: tough weekend for UK baseball. They lost again another series.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: They at least they one yesterday, but man, it has
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: been a tough way to go for them. So I
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: just I'm I'm bummed about how UK baseball is.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: Really could they play with a Vanderbilt?
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Uh South Carolina? That's right? Yeah, So it's just it's
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: it's a hard.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: Way to go for that bad series to lose.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it is a bad series to lose, So I
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: hopefully they turn it around. I mean, now they got
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: I think it's Florida this weekend. I'm just going from
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: memory right now. But uh, anyway, all right, Uh what
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: do we doing the rest of the week. We're gonna
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: be here. No, I mean, it was pretty crowded this morning, but.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: It only gets more crazy this week.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: You think, so it's good it's gonna get back here.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: I don't know. Tomorrow might be a little sketchy, just
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: because every I think everybody's gonna be freaked out by
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: the weather. But that should be well out of here
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: before we get back here tomorrow.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: It's supposed to be really bad tonight, isn't it as
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: far as tin storms. But the good news is it
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: is gone before daybreak. I was watching because I think that,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: but when you go on at seven, I think the
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: rain will already be gone. But they're predicting. It was interesting.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: So I watched the weather yesterday on the on the
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: local news. They kept showing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. They specifically
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: left off Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: I thought that was the weirdest thing.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: And then finally they showed it. It's like, what are
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: you doing? Just tell us what it's going to be
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: like now. They said it's gonna be chilly. It's gonna
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: be cold. Yeah, yeah, I have like sixty two Saturday,
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: so yeah, it's chilly. All right, Matthew, did you finally
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: wake up? By the way, Yeah, wake up? What's that? Yes,
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: I'm awake? Okay, good, all right. We miss having you
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: out here. I just want you to know and thank
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: you very much for taking care of us and nothing
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: back to sleep. Okay, good, thanks Matthew. But anyway, all right,
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: well we'll end it today. Well hopefully if you're out here,
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: come by and say hello to us. You might even
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: have to get on the air with me. Everybody, have
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: a great day. We'll see you tomorrow in just a cat.
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: Thirdayturn. Send the prayer to the
