- Josh DeMage: Welcome back to Triple Off Sports Talk. I'm Josh. Bryce. And Roy will be here in a few minutes. But me and Bryce are tired, so we're gonna start going. ⁓ For us, it is September 8th, Tuesday. It will this will post tonight, ⁓ because we can't schedule. But football is back tomorrow. Yes, college football has been back, and yes, we'll talk about some college football. But the NFL, which that's me and Bryce's favorite, we start tomorrow. Brice: Right. Josh DeMage: And it's the last game that we watched. New England's gonna play Seattle, rematch to the Super Bowl. It will be in Seattle. The banner will be dropped. Good for Seattle, they should. ⁓ should be a good game. ⁓ I think Seattle in a few ways took some steps back. I also think in a few ways it took some steps forward. ⁓ New England as you know, as much shit as people gave ⁓ for getting to the Super Bowl and maybe not deserving it. They should be starting to build a little bit. I mean they should make steps. So this should be a good game. ⁓ Bryce, is there anything in this game that you're looking forward to seeing or watching? Brice: Yeah, I think it'll I think it'll be a similar game to the last time they played in the Super Bowl. Obviously the stakes aren't as high. ⁓ Patriots are gonna come in with a chip on their shoulder. I think the first half will probably be pretty close and you'll see Seattle run away with it. But I do wanna say I don't like them doing Super Bowl rematches first game of the year. I'm okay with it like mid season and s or something, but it's just weird to me, like these teams just played. That's literally the last game that we watched. Now the season opener, three days before For any other game pretty mu or I guess there's probably Thursday night and then I think there's like a Saturday night in there somewhere this year, but anyway, I just don't like it. I w put it in the middle of the season or something, or just don't have it. it should be Seattle versus a different AFC team, or ne New England versus a different AF I like the Super Bowl winner playing. I just don't like them playing the exact same team. Yeah. Josh DeMage: Yeah. So that's historically what it is. The Super Bowl winner will open usually on a Thursday. I don't know what I think this is like a a special. Like I don't know if it's I I don't know if it's on Netflix. I don't know what it's on, but this is like a special. That's why it's on a Wednesday. That's what's throwing it all off. But usually, like two years ago, when the Eagles won the Super Bowl and they dominated, last year, Dallas went. Now Dallas wasn't the Super Bowl, Dallas lost in the playoffs that year. So usually it's just the Super Bowl winner opens. ⁓ I think the problem came in. Yeah. The problem I think they have is New England, you know, we know how the schedules work. You know, they have to play a division from the other side. Brice: Yeah. See, it also shouldn't be a division team though. I don't think that you should have a divisional game as the first game of the year. Josh DeMage: And I'm sh I'm I obviously they got ⁓ the the NFC West got the AFC East where New England's at. And I think it was probably just, you know, best spot. You know, I know I've I don't know if you've ever watched how they make the schedule. ⁓ it's fascinating by the way. Yeah. Brice: Well, ⁓ they're both playing the number one team of that division, so it's obvious that they've but it should be a different division. Josh DeMage: Yeah. But yeah, I mean, yeah, I I don't know if I've ever seen a Super Bowl rematch. I'm trying to think not to open. So I mean Yeah. But I mean, hey, you know, if if it had to happen, it had to happen. I don't I really don't care. I'm just glad football's on tomorrow. And I'm glad Seattle's opening ⁓ at home. ⁓ that part I enjoy, but I really don't care that it's New England. ⁓ well Brice: I don't think it might be. I've seen Super Bowl rematches just not to open, like you said. Just Yeah, I'm sure I'll put in a fat parlay for the first game of the year. Josh DeMage: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah. I wonder how much money Draft King's gonna win tomorrow. ⁓ Brice: ⁓ yeah. Josh DeMage: Well, Roy is gonna be here, but we're gonna go ahead and start picking. ⁓ we're gonna pick every game just like we normally do in week one. There are no buys. We got a full slate. Gonna be a, you know, game on Wednesday, game on Thursday, and then I think the rest are Sunday, Sunday night, and then a Monday. ⁓ let's start it. New England goes to Seattle. Rice, I've already see your choice, but and I'm gonna match you. I'm gonna take Seattle at home. ⁓ Brice: I am gonna take Seattle. I'm gonna go ahead and put Roy in for Seattle at the moment. I'll change it if he has a different thing, but Josh DeMage: Yeah. ⁓ next one. This is Thursday night, and this is not in the location ⁓ that you expect. This game's actually in Australia. San Francisco's going to play the Los Angeles Rams, a big divisional game early in the year. ⁓ again, in Australia. No Aaron Donald. That got announced today. Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Lot of people are speculating. He said F that flight. I'm not doing it. I'll see you guys when you come back. Hey, come out of her diamond. You can kinda sh c call your own shots. ⁓ I'll go first on this one. I think this game can be close. I think s you know, San Fran has one problem the last few years. Health. Hopefully this is as healthy as they're gonna be. You know, or you know, that you can go into a game having all off season. ⁓ McCaffrey could give the Rams some problems with I mean without Donald, even though they have Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Miles Garrett. I still am gonna take the Rams. They're just too good on paper. We're gonna have to see see what all these teams look like. ⁓ week one is always a little bit difficult 'cause you can look on paper, but that doesn't mean everything's gonna gel and injuries and bad play. Good play from some players. So week one's always a little scary for me, but I mean you just have to go with what you think on paper at the end of the day. Brice: Yeah, I mean I've said it on this podcast several times. I hate overseas games. I think they're ridiculous. I think the conditions are always terrible. Players aren't playing how they should because they just got off of a fifteen hour flight. So this game could go anyway just because of the travel, but I do think that LA has the same team as last year plus defensive editions, so I I think that carries over a little bit better than San Fran having almost a completely new offense with Mike Evans and Devo Samuel, who used to be in the system but not the same player. We'll see how Mike Evans plays in that system. ⁓ I'm gonna take the Rams though because I don't know if you saw Miles Garrett working out learning how to hit harder. I mean, whoever that guy is teaching him how to hit harder should be in prison because you just taught the best defender in the league how to hit harder. Also, I don't know if you saw Miles Garrett was ranked number one in the NFL. I don't know about that. I would say he's probably two or three. I think it's hard to say that the MVP is not number one. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yep. Who do you think is number one? Brice: the ⁓ VP of last season, Matthew Stafford. Josh DeMage: And who is that? ⁓ yeah. I'll be honest. Brice: I just find it harder to believe going into the season you don't have the number one ranked as the ⁓ V P. That's weird to me. But Josh DeMage: ⁓ yeah, I don't know. I just Miles Garrett, doesn't he own the sack record? Like in the history of the sport? Most certainly doesn't. I mean, yeah, it's it's tough. ⁓ next game. Tampa Bay goes to Cincinnati. Bryce, I'm gonna let you go first on this one. Baker Mayfield, new contract, by the way. Brice: ⁓ yeah. Yeah, Tampa Bay that's what I was just about to say signed thirty million dollars, I believe, a year. big extension. Tampa Bay is just they were banged up last year. I think losing Mike Evans is gonna be huge. I don't have you seen if the ⁓ Abuka is playing in this game or not? Josh DeMage: I believe he is. I believe he's playing or you know Brice: Even though he is, Cincinnati is I think they're gonna be a powerhouse this year with Joe Burrow finally seeming to be healthy. ⁓ we'll see if that works or not, if their O line works, if their defense works. I think there's a lot of what ifs on both of these teams. But I am gonna take Cincinnati right now, even though I absolutely love Baker Mayfield and the Bucks. I just that offensive top Mike Evans I think is a much different team. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm also gonna go to Cincinnati and I agree with you. I just think they're healthy, you know. ⁓ could Tampa Bay win this game? ⁓ yes, absolutely. I think this is ⁓ you know, one of the better games of the week. I'm in I'm really gonna be intrigued to watch this on noon. ⁓ high power powered offense against Tampa, who historically has been good on defense since Todd Bowles has been there. ⁓ Baker new contract. I'll see what that offense looks like. But Cincinnati's defense is nothing to write home about. ⁓ but I do. I still think Cincinnati's got enough firepower to win the game. Next one. New Orleans goes to Detroit. I'm a big New Orleans hater. I I really think they're awful in a lot of areas. ⁓ I'm gonna take Detroit. I don't think this one should be close. Brice: Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think New Orleans has much to go off this year. Detroit still has a lot of stars, so Josh DeMage: Next one. This one's an intriguing game to me. The New York Jets excuse me, I swallowing ice cube. Go to Tennessee, play the Titans. Tennessee's new coach, Robert Sala, recently fired from the Jets. A little bit of a revenge game. I'll go first. ⁓ I I just think the Jets are terrible. I'll take the young Tennessee Titans. Robert Sall historically has always had good defenses. I haven't I believe he can slow down the Jets and I believe Cam Ward and ⁓ Carnell Tate and Wandell Robinson, the new look jet or new look Titans can get some points on the board at home and get a win. Brice: I think Tennessee does have some young players. I'm excited to see Carnell pay play. I think ⁓ the Jets are just horrible as well, so Josh DeMage: Good afternoon, Roy. Roy: Welcome, welcome, welcome, what's going on? Josh DeMage: All right, we're gonna just backtrack for you, Roy, and I'm gonna steamroll it through you. We're not we're just gonna catch you up. New England goes to Seattle for Super Bowl rematch tomorrow night. Seattle at home, who you got? Roy: I'm gonna go to New England. Josh DeMage: Okay. Mike Vrable lover over there. Roy: ⁓ I just think it's teams got a little more prepared. Josh DeMage: Okay. In Australia, the San Francisco Giants will take on the Los Angeles Rams and there will be no Aaron Donald in this game. He does not want to fly. who you got? San Fran again or the Rams? Roy: ⁓ Rams, even with Don even without Donald. Darnold, I think it's still gonna be still be them. Josh DeMage: Next one. Next one, the newly ⁓ locked in contract, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, gonna go to the high powered offense in Cincinnati to play the Bengals. Who you got? Roy: I am going to go with the Buccaneers. Josh DeMage: Hey, got some different ones than me and Bryce. Me and Bryce have yet to choose one different, so Roy: I think it's gonna be sho I wanna be I think it'll be a shootout. Josh DeMage: Yep. Next one, New Orleans goes to Detroit. Roy: I'm gonna go Detroit. Josh DeMage: Yeah. And then the one that we just got done talking about, the New York Jets, ⁓ who fired Robert Salah, going to the newly hired Tennessee Titan, Robert Salah. Roy: Wow. ⁓ man, that's a terrible ⁓ Tennessee's got one and a half favorite. I'll take Tennessee. Brice: Mm-hmm. Josh DeMage: Okay. And Roy, welcome you've got up. So I'll r I'll lead in. Baltimore will travel to Indy to play the ⁓ pa I almost said the Pacers. The Colts. ⁓ Roy, I'll let you go first on this one. Roy: I really am think the Colts are sorry, the Ravens are gonna be a team that we're gonna be everybody's gonna be surprised about how good their defense and everybody's gonna I'm gonna go with the Ravens. Josh DeMage: Okay. I'll go next. Yeah, I don't yeah, I'm assuming Daniel Jones is playing, isn't he? So yeah, I mean if he can I their receiving room r worries me a little bit. They always play well at home historically. Jonathan Taylor, I think, could run the ball well against Baltimore. New look Baltimore. My gut tells me indie, but I just can't get off of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. I'll take Baltimore. Brice: I think he is. Roy: That's what I read. Brice: I actually have a similar opinion of Josh. My gut does tell me Indy, but I am gonna take Baltimore as well. They're they're so good in the regular season. Josh DeMage: Next one. The B. John Robinson and Tua Tagaba Falcons. Yes, you heard that correctly. Travel to the Steel City to play the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers farewell tour. I'll go first on this one. New look Pittsburgh Steelers with Mike McCarthy as well. ⁓ No more defensive prowess. That's an offensive-minded football team. ⁓ I cannot trust Tua to win a football game as much as B. John Robinson to me is the best back in the NFL. I'll take Pittsburgh at home. Brice: I'm actually gonna go with Atlanta in this one. I think you're gonna see Pittsburgh take a huge step back without Mike Tomlin. ⁓ they're not gonna be that team that's always in it. I think they're gonna have really good games and they're gonna have really bad games. And I think first game of the season, new coach, ⁓ Aaron Rodgers is old. I've I just trust Atlanta more. Roy: Two is not very good. I I really think the defense is good for the Steelers. ⁓ Aaron Rodgers will look good probably for about three games and then look like shit. So I think this will be one of his average games. I'm not gonna say looks good, I'm gonna say he'd look average. So I think he'll be alright. Steelers will win this game. Josh DeMage: Yep. Next one, Bears or Bryce's Chicago Bears travel to the NFC South winners of last year, the Carolina Panthers. ⁓ Bryce, I'll let you go first on this one. Brice: Yeah, I'm taking Chicago. Josh DeMage: Greatly said. Roy, what do you got? Roy: Yeah, I think Chicago probably win. I don't think the Panthers are too young. I think they're gonna take a little bit to get going. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I'm in agreement, but this feels middle of the season to me this is a trap game. Especially cause Chicago's kinda banged up right now, especially early. I still think they're the better team with the injuries. But feels like that trap game that, you know, Chicago should win and kinda goes into Carolina and, you know, to get down early. I'm not just saying that 'cause Bryce's team is Chicago, they are banged up. And at the end of the day, Carolina won some games they probably shouldn't have last year. ⁓ maybe it rolls into this year, but I still think Chicago has enough talent to win. ⁓ hello Mr. Yogi. Next one, Buffalo goes to Houston, two ⁓ playoff teams of last year. Bryce, I'm gonna have you go first on this one. Brice: I'm going with Buffalo. I s I still think Houston probably has the best, if not top two, defense in the league. But Josh Allen getting DJ Moore, I think CJ Stroud is terrible. I don't see him ever repeating his rookie season. ⁓ I think teams just kinda figured him out. So I'm taking Buffalo. Roy: Okay. Josh DeMage: again, this one feels like a trap game. I agree with you, Bryce Houston's defense is really good. I they're gonna slow Josh Allen the Bills down. Now, what will DJ Moore and, you know, maybe a some of that offense look like? I'm not exactly sure, but I just don't trust Houston to score the ball if they need to, even if Buffalo's defense isn't great. They're healthy and you they're never healthy, but they are right now. So I'll take Buffalo on the road. Roy: ⁓ I th I actually think Buffalo yeah, I think Buffalo will win this game. I think their defense has been way better. ⁓ they've upgraded in a lot of better positions. Texans defense is good. They're gonna be top five defense. The problem with their offense, I mean, I like David Montgomery. He's thirty years old. Can he hit his body how long will his body last? CJ Stroud just cannot take these hits. ⁓ we'll just have to I don't think this is gonna be I think this is gonna be a tough year for Texans. But they're in a weak division, so but they'll lose this week. Josh DeMage: Next one, Cleveland goes to Saxonville. ⁓ I'll go first. I think Cleveland's got some exciting wide receivers. ⁓ Boston especially, and ⁓ KC Concepcion. But I I mean their quarterback play is probably gonna be horrendous, so I'll take Jacksonville. Brice: Yeah, I don't think this game will be very close. The only thing that kept Cleveland in games last year was Miles Garrett and he's gone now, so Roy: Yeah, Jacksonville. I mean, what the I I mean, there'll be Deshaun Watson people just throwing stuff out. I mean it's gonna be it horrible. I mean it's gonna be terrible. So but Jacksonville win. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Next one, I don't know why. I'm very intrigued for this game. I just think it's a funny matchup. Miami goes to Las Vegas to play Kirko Chains and the Las Vegas Raiders confirmed starter. I don't know. I think Miami is maybe the worst team I've seen in a long time on paper. But man, I don't know about Kirko Chains. Hopefully the indoor setting sets them well. Vegas is at home, I'll take Vegas, but I I don't really know about this one. Brice: Yeah, this game I can't decide if I think that the Jets Titans game is gonna be worse than this one. But I think just the more experienced quarterback is probably gonna be the factor in this game. Roy: I am going to take Vegas just because Vegas has them as three and half point favorites. So that is why I'm taking the Raiders. Josh DeMage: Next one NFC North ⁓ showdown. Green Bay is gonna head north to play Minnesota. Bright, so I'll let you go first on this one. Brice: I'm gonna go with Green Bay. I think that they're pretty banged up right now, but I think Minnesota's quarterback play is just terrible right now and I I don't think that their running backs are that good anymore. It's it's just Justin Jefferson out there really in my opinion. Josh DeMage: Roy. Roy: I am gonna go to Minnesota. See, I think they're run I think Jordan Mason as their running back is a ⁓ is a gonna be top tier in the league. ⁓ They're gonna be able to run that ball. Their their line is a little shaky, but they did do some improvements. That defense by Minnesota is tough. I mean it's it's a top five defense in the league. ⁓ Packers, they are banged up. They def they don't have the defensive guys. ⁓ you know, Micah Parsons not playing. There's gonna I think they're gonna be it's gonna be a close game, but I think Minnesota's gonna pull it out. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah, I'm torn on this one. My gut tells me Minnesota at home, but I do I do think Green Bay is the better team. They do have some injuries. I'm gonna lean with you, Roy. I'm gonna take Minnesota. Another reason that, you know, I've seen Sam Darnold play good quarterback play, and no, I mean now he is, but he really took that next step there. I think that Minnesota's coach would probably get the most out of Kyler Murray, even if it's an average quarterback. If he can just squeeze every ounce that he's got in him. So I'll take Minnesota to shock one. Maybe not shock, but you know, surprise some people. Week one. Next one, Washington goes to Philly. I'll go first. I'm gonna take Philly. But Washington has always been Philly's kryptonite. Always. I don't know what it is. They always find a way to sneak one out. And usually it's in Philly. ⁓ But I just think they're. too talented. ⁓ and I don't think Washington's that good this year. But wouldn't be surprised if Washington steals one. Brice: I'm taking Philly as well. I think that they'll be able to just play their game the whole time. They'll run the ball with Saquon, hit open receivers and Washington's defense I don't think will be able to stop that. Roy: Yeah, I just think the Eagles are gonna be too got too much talent. I think Washington's gonna have a down year just because of the just I mean, Jaden Daniels is good, but I don't think that he has everything around him ⁓ to keep to keep the keep a I have not been a I'm not been a Ste Stefan Diggs fan or a McLaren fan because I just don't think they ⁓ Stefan Diggs is way past his prime and ever since he was in Buffalo. Josh DeMage: No Stephon Diggs You're not a believer in Stefan Diggs and the scary Terry? What a Yeah. Tell you what, man, Stephon diggs in Buffalo though. some good wide receiver play. Next one. Arizona goes to the Chargers. I'll go first. ⁓ I'll take the Chargers. Brice: ⁓ Mala. Roy: Chargers. I'm not even d don't even talk about chargers. Brice: Also take the card. Josh DeMage: Then that takes us to Sunday Night Football where the Dallas Cowboys are going to MetLife to play the New York football giants. Roy, I'll let you go first on this one. Roy: ⁓ I'm gonna say Scataboo will have two touchdowns, but the Cowboys will win the ball game. Josh DeMage: Right? Brice: I'm actually in agreement with Roy. I think this will be a close game 'cause the Giants are gonna play their division rival very well and I I love the Giants. This will probably be one of the few times I don't pick them this year, but I'm gonna take Dallas. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I think this game I think it'll be close a little bit early. John Harbaugh, you know, is gonna probably keep the game close. He's a good coach in general. I just think the game's gonna come down to ⁓ The Giants not being able to stop Dallas. ⁓ I I'm very confident the Cowboys are gonna stop the run for the most part. Yeah, could he squeak into the zone at Scatter? Sure. But I don't think he's gonna run crazy. ⁓ the pass game, that would definitely be where the Giants would want to attack. ⁓ but I don't I don't think they're gonna be able keep up with Dallas. ⁓ and then I'll take Dallas. Last one, Denver heads the Kansas City. This is a on paper, a big matchup early. ⁓ I'll go first on this one. ⁓ Pedro Mahomes is healthy in playing, they said. I love Andy Reed early in the year. Yeah, well, he's playing. Well, he's healthy enough to play. How about that? I love Andy Reed when time to prepare. You know he's going to run some tricks out there. ⁓ I just don't think they can move the ball on Denver's defense. They're too talented. ⁓ Denver's got a lot to play for this year. They probably should have been playing in the Super Bowl last year. Kind of got it taken away from them a little bit. I'll take Denver. Brice: I don't know if they said healthy, but they said he's plain. Yeah, I I'm in agreeance. I don't think Kansas City's gonna be able to move the ball that well, especially 'cause I don't know how well Patrick Mahomes is gonna be able to play. I think he came back from injury a little too early, but Roy: I agree with you, Bryce. I think ⁓ Patrick Mahomes is coming back a little too early. ⁓ can he be effective? Now will they will they be able to run the ball, Kenth Walker? I don't know. That Broncos de the Yeah, that Broncos defense though is I mean top to bottom every level is awesome. So it's they're the they are the top defense going into this season. Josh DeMage: Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker. Yeah. Brice: I am excited. I am excited to see if Andy Reid uses Justin Fields as kind of like a Taysom Hill type of player. 'Cause from what I've been reading he might, so I think I'd be Josh DeMage: Good. I tell you what, Andy Ree, when he's got time to prepare, he can draw up some football pla I don't know what that man watches or thinks or has old paper boards. I don't know, but he can draw some plays up. Alright, that's what we got for week one. really nothing else to talk about NFL wise. ⁓ I'm excited for football to start. I'm excited to watch tomorrow night, watch some football that truly counts, and ⁓ should be a good game. All right, Roy, take us on to college football. Roy: Alright, let's get you to college football here. So from our picks, or what's ⁓ well, I'll go with the top twenty-five ⁓ or top ten standings here if I can get to my rankings. It came out Ohio State and still number one, Georgia two, Notre Dame three, Texas four, fell to four, Indiana five, Oregon six, Miami seven, LSU eight, Old Miss nine, and Texas AM ten, Oklahoma eleven and Alabama twelve. ⁓ some of the big scores this weekend. ⁓ gosh dang I can't even get to the games. ⁓ let's see. ⁓ Cl LSU blew out Clemson. ⁓ everyb everybody's talking about how d Dabo and needs to be fired and just move on. He's not embracing the ⁓ embracing the the NIL stuff anymore, so he needs to probably move on. ⁓ Old Miss. I don't know if you guys got to watch Old Miss Louisville. Great game. Josh DeMage: God damn. Roy: La I that Louisville looked lot b you know, I picked him to be in the college football playoff and I think that they proved that they're right there with him. ⁓ L SMU beat ⁓ Florida State. ⁓ that was a close one. ⁓ from our picks Josh DeMage: Flor Florida State's coach is out by the way. He got fired today. Mike Norvell. Roy: He got fired today? I haven't seen a I'm not surprised. He's just I mean that Nor Norval Norvell, he's just been I mean, he was so good at Oregon, came there think with high hopes and hasn't done shit since there. This week, ⁓ let's see. ⁓ Josh went nine and three. You we all miss bull bowling green. ⁓ Josh DeMage: I lied, false report, he was not fired. Roy: Okay. ⁓ we all missed Bowling Green, who got which was an odd game. ⁓ Josh DeMage: Yeah, Bryce, we lost our Tarton State game. Roy: Yeah. ⁓ Josh, you missed ⁓ Western Kentucky, Nevada. and and then you miss UCLA versus Colorado. Or sorry, Cal California. And then Bryce, you miss SMU versus Florida State. ⁓ we all got the ⁓ Baylor. ⁓ Album beat at Baylor, LSU beat Clemson, Air Force, big wins again. Du Coin Duquesne, James Massa beat Liberty, ⁓ Tennessee beat ⁓ Foomer. Josh DeMage: Cal. Brice: Kelly. Roy: ⁓ El might be UBA, Michigan on a lucky ass ⁓ Western Michigan game, and then Ole Miss beat ⁓ Louisville. Josh DeMage: Outrageous. Alright, we're not moving on, Roy. Thoughts of your game. You gotta talk about it. Gotta gotta have it. Roy: Well, live reaction, I turned it off, so I don't even like like I was we were coming back from dinner. I was watching it on my phone. I thought the game was over. I mean we d it was just bad bad I mean, bad quarterback play. I mean, Bryce Vanderward was just god awful. I mean that our line was awful. It was one of those games where you're like where we I mean our line was terrible, ⁓ didn't do it we we should have been able those kind of games in the past, you could run the ball. We didn't do anything. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Roy: And we didn't really run the ball, period. We'd like we were passing the ball a ton. And I don't know what the J Jason Beck is not known for that. I don't know what the hell he was thinking. But Bryce Underwood was terrible. And our defense was really good. And they only gave up 200 yards and four field goals. ⁓ so when then that that last second first ⁓ Hail Mary went through, I mean, I thought the game was over, didn't think anything of it. So then when I got inside, my son Bronx, you know, came in and said, We won, we won. I'm like, Yeah, it's good. Quit fucking with me, you know. Yeah. And then him and Reed showed me the play. I d you know, again, if it was there a second, wasn't there a second? I don't you know, you know, how how do you know? I mean, how many times do you hear clock operator change the clock to minute thirty five or you know, how many times do you hear that during a game? You do hear it a lot. I mean, I don't who I mean the officials always keep the score. You know Bryce, you see it at your high school football games. It's the back judge keeps the official score, feeds time. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Brice: Terrible. Roy: Huh? What'd you say? Brice: ⁓ it's been awful this year especially. Roy: Well, I mean they they're they're the the official timekeeper. Were they the ones that kept time I don't know. This is I mean, conspiracies everybody throws conspiracies out there. This happened last year with ⁓ if you remember Arizona State and Florida, I think, or Arizona State and somebody. But you still gotta defend it. I mean that's the thing. You can everybody can bitch about it, but he'd still gotta defend it. I I mean, just lucky did we just Michigan did not deserve to win. We're gonna get our ass whipped by Oklahoma this week. ⁓ I'm gonna pick Michigan just 'cause I Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Roy: Just always pick my team, but ⁓ we're gonna Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. I I really I didn't watch the game, so obviously I'm I was after the fact. Like I all I saw was the aftermath. I really didn't give a shit that they won or lost. They just look like shit for I watched the replays, I wanted to look at some games. They looked terrible. They didn't look ready to go in any way. You think okay, you come out flat, you get into halftime, you hear an ass chewing. I didn't come out they came out even flatter in the second half felt like. ⁓ I just wasn't impressed with Roy: ⁓ yeah, I'm a Josh DeMage: their overall body of work, ev I mean, their defense was fine. Their defense should have basically pitched a shutout. They that but Western Michigan was terrible. Like compared to Michigan. They should have done that. Roy: That that offense I mean that team is is a I mean they're the Mac champions flashers. They did of all teams, ⁓ like a non power five team, they didn't lose anybody for transfers. Transfer portal. Didn't lose a single player. They're a good team. Give ⁓ that. That what gets me is I mean, ⁓ if you took all the Utah teams that ⁓ Winni Wittingham has ever had, they were physical, in your face, smash them out football. That was not Kyle Whittingham. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. And I I do think Michigan I know I'm not it's one game you can't overact, but I do think they're gonna have a quarterback problem. He just doesn't look good. And you know, you've had all off season. Yeah, and sometimes it just is always too fast. And he is it just seems like last year it was too fast. This year it looked too fast. Roy: football. And I don't know what the I don't know what the hell happened. Too fast. Game's too fast for him. Too fast for him. Well, it's but the funny thing is, you know, you always hear about coaches so you know, Sundays always for college football is like your off day. You kinda do film, you kinda maybe do some run throughs. Full pad practice on Sunday for the for Michigan Wolverine players. I was like Holy shit. I was like Brice: Ba as it should. I also w what did you think about Michigan storming the field afterwards though? That was mind blowing to me. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Roy: ⁓ the the the it's dumb. It's and it's it's it's con it's happening all over college football. It th anything and everything, everybody's doing it. And then it's because he's ki I mean, Bryce, you did it and freaking you vi Yeah. You d Josh DeMage: Yeah, it was dumb. Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: I was gonna say, I know someone that did it. Brice: ⁓ I did it for I'm not even a fan of the team I stormed the field for. Everybody was doing it, I jumped in. Roy: Yeah, it happen I know, everybody does it's and I ha for them to do that on Alaska, that's stupid. It's and you know, it's a night game, I know. A lot of most of those kids are probably drunk and probably like somebody else at another ballgame we saw, jumping the fence and just running through the f yeah, it's just stu I mean, they there's somebody's gonna get hurt eventually. And ⁓ it's gonna get bad. But you know, I think that's stupid. I think rus i if if it you know, when we beat Ohio State after five years Brice: ⁓ I I wasn't jail that day. Roy: I understood that. N and the freezing cold. But now it's come on guys. Brice: Did you see that the Mac filed to get the game overturned at Aeroy? Roy: Yeah. They I mean they ⁓ pub they publicly first came out and said they they accept the results and now they're filing with ⁓ N C double A. Brice: Yeah, that it they should have never accepted it if you thought it about filing. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Roy: ⁓ that's because the SEC's telling him to. Josh DeMage: Alright, so for our overall record, since there is no NFL games yet, we will s next week we'll start a joint, you know, overall record. But for college football, I am 13 and 4. Bryce is also 13 and 4. And Roy is also 13 and 4. So we are at a dead tie. So so we we did week zero and week one for absolutely no reason. We're all starting at week one of the NFL, basically. Roy: I was gonna say I think I was I thought we were all Ha ha. Alright, so I got ten games here for week two of the in of college football. Alright, and I've tried it and these are all close ⁓ I mean other than our three games are close ⁓ spreads. I think so you might you got the spreads up for these games. All right. The first game I th is ⁓ UTSA versus Texas Tate ⁓ Texas State. I think UT S was a three point favorite. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yep, got him. UTSA at Texas State. Texas State is one and a half point favorite. So that I mean that's that's as close of a straight fifty fifty as you're gonna get. I'll go first on this one. I'm gonna take Texas State at home to get the win. Roy: That's what that Yeah. Will we do this or are you doing Brice: I got it. I'm also gonna take Texas State. I in a close game like that I'm just always gonna take the home team. Roy: Damn it. I did my research today and that's who I was I'm taking Texas State. They've had they've they've played a tough team. Josh DeMage: They they've been decent. I don't I don't know much about UTSA anymore. I did a few years ago. I have seen Texas State been decent the last few years so. Roy: Yep. Next one, big one. U O S U, Ohio State versus Texas. Josh DeMage: This has gotta be in Texas, right? Yeah, it is. I just remember last year's was in Ohio State. ⁓ Ohio State the number one team. ⁓ wow, that's a banger of a game week two. On the road in Texas, Austin, Texas. Texas one and a half point favorites. Roy: It's attacks us. Yep, this is a Texas. ⁓ really? I thought I saw Ohio State was a two point fa or three point favorite earlier. Josh DeMage: That's what I'm go that's what I got right now on ESPN. Mm. Roy: Hmm. Okay. I'll go first. I'm gonna go Texas. I obviously I can't go against I for Oste, but I I Texas at home. Archer Manning's gotta make a statement win at some point. Josh DeMage: Yeah. See, I'll I'll go next. See, I agree with you, Roy. I mean, Arch and Texas have not won the big game. Really, the last two or three years. I mean, they they need this one at home against the number one team in the country. That being said, give me Jeremiah No, Jeremiah Smith. Too many Jeremiah is today in the world. Give me Jeremiah Smith to go crazy. I'll take Ohio State. Roy: Jer Jeremiah Smith. Brice: I was also gonna say Jeremiah Smith is unbelievable and I'm taking Ohio State. Josh DeMage: Yeah, he is a generational prospect right now. Roy: All right. The game of two bad teams, Purdue versus Wake Forest. Josh DeMage: Okay. Roy: Yeah, I know. They're really both not very good teams. Josh DeMage: Where you at Purdue? Roy: They're both one and ⁓ but they're they b they both played FCS teams. Josh DeMage: Purdue's on the road, you said? Roy: I they may I don't r they play Wake Forest. They may Purdue versus Wake Forest. Josh DeMage: Who do they play? Brice: Wait for us. Roy: Can't find it. Josh DeMage: ⁓ I got him. No w this is the first one I think you've ever had flipped. Wake Forest is at Purdue in Laf West Lafayette. Wake Forest is three point favorites and I'm taking Wake Forest on the road to beat Purdue. Brice: I'll take him as well. Roy: I will take Wake. That produced terrible. Alright, big one. Mississippi State and Brandon Walker and his piss pussy ass team versus Minnesota. Josh DeMage: Real I'm shocked by this ⁓ line. I would not have guessed this. Mississippi State will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota. And they are w Minnesota i or Mississippi State is one and a half point favorites. Well, you're really picking some tight lines here this week. And I and I'll I'll or ⁓ you know, I've been going first. I'll let someone else go first. Roy: I told ya I went I really went for some tight ones today. Bryce, you go first. Brice: I'll take Minnesota. Josh DeMage: Roy. Roy: I a as much as I hate Brandon Walker, I am gonna take Mississippi State. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I Minnesota's one of my least favorite teams in the Big Ten. I just think they're ta terrible on everything. I'm gonna take Mississippi State. I don't know a lick about Mississippi State though. Not a lick. I don't know I can name you one player. Roy: I'm I don't know much about Minnesota either. UNLV versus North Texas. Josh DeMage: UNLV. Ooh, I know North Texas coaches is gone, so I know that's not the same team. UNLV at North Texas in Denton, Texas. UNLV is three and a half point favorites. I already picked against UNLV and I got it right, week zero. I'm gonna pick them this time. I'll take UNLB. Roy: Yep, it's a new coach. I'll go. I'm going to pick North Texas. Brice: I think you're in LB. Josh DeMage: North Texas is little ⁓ they played Indiana. Well yeah, that's fair. Ha didn't know that. Roy: Alright, USF versus Army. Josh DeMage: USF USF at West Point, New York to play the Army. And the Army are three and a half point favorites. Roy: Yeah. USF. Army's got the three point five Josh DeMage: Holy shit, alright. I don't know if Bryant is terrible, but they beat or Army beat the shit out of him. I'll take Army. Brice: I'll take armor. Okay. Roy: You guys went Army? I'll I was gonna go Army. USF lost their quarterback and everything, so Alright. This I picked this team because you p always picked Memphis, Josh. Memphis versus Boise State. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Mm. I am a Memphis lover in football. Roy: I'm gonna go first. Well tell me the line first. And I think I gotten what I w Josh DeMage: I gotta find it. Memphis is on the blue turf in Boise, Idaho. Boise is eight and a half point favorites. I'll take Boise State. Didn't know it was gonna be that big of a line. Roy: I'm taking Boise State. I th I didn't think it was that big of a line when I picked it. Brice: I'm gonna pick the upset. I hate that field. So I'm gonna take Memphis. Josh DeMage: Wonder if someone That's outrageous. Roy: You pa you hate the blue field? Brice: I absolutely think that you it is disgusting to look at when I'm running watching. Josh DeMage: I don't know how I love it. I mean it's no ⁓ coastal Carolina, but Roy: All right, Bryce's Tennessee Voles versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Josh DeMage: Georgia Tech's decent. I'm not I mean, I I'll take Tennessee, but Roy: Their quarterback is that for is the Mendoza. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Tennessee is twelve and a half point favorites. I will take Tennessee, but this could be an upset alert, you if they if Tennessee throws a dud and Georgia Tech plays well. Roy: Yeah, I'm gonna take Tennessee too. Tennessee's a guy Yeah, I mean it was a Tennessee kept in the game last week. And then Josh is Illinois versus Duke. It's at Illinois. Brice: Mm-hmm. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yep. ⁓ it's in Champaign. Yep. We were in Duke last year. I'm gonna take Illinois. I'll tell you why, Illinois's run defense looked so piss poor against UAB. Everything else was fine, but my god, did their run defense look so bad. ⁓ that's a concern. Roy: Your hail ⁓ your Hail Mary at the halftime is what changed that game. Josh DeMage: Yeah. I mean our quarterback played pretty well for them even you know, he was efficient, he could run. But man, that run defense was atrocious. ⁓ but I'll take you a bye at home. Roy: Here you go, Rice. Brice: I'll take you over via home as well. Roy: take Illinois as much as I want to. And then Michigan versus Oklahoma. I mean Bryce looks like he got it right in there. Josh DeMage: You guys don't want to take the devils? I'm taking Oklahoma. No I mean, I don't think you could pay me to take Michigan after that last game. But in the big house, you know, you could see a little bit of a turnaround, but still. Brice: I agree. Roy: I'm just I'm I can't root against my Wolverines, but I I'm ho I'm just hoping the defense keeps us around. We can run the ball a little bit, maybe some little scheme, and maybe can complete a pass here and there to maybe get a touchdown or two and then I mean Oklahoma's defense is really good and they're ⁓ they're a really good team, so they're a playoff type team. But that's who I'm going with. I'm going with Wolverines. That's college football. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Alright. I think that's all Yeah. Alright. You guys got anything else? Alright. Let's roll it into baseball. We're gonna be pretty quick with baseball. I'm just gonna go over our draft. ⁓ Roy, and we we're we got about seventeen, eighteen games left, so we're running on time. ⁓ Roy, you lead at four fifty-four. I am nine back at four forty six. Excuse me, eight back. Brice: Nope. Roy: I didn't have time for Josh DeMage: And Bryce, you are eleven back of me. ⁓ I don't think you have a shot anymore, Bryce. I think you are eliminated. I won't state for sure, but I I think you're eliminated. I just don't think you can make up. And I and he's down like nineteen games. I just don't think he's gonna make up that many. ⁓ he could, but I just don't see it. ⁓ I I personally I don't even think I'm going to, but you know, one or two really good days, I guess, could. ⁓ so we'll see. ⁓ yeah, I mean we're coming down to the Brice: Yeah. Roy: I think there's nineteen games left after tonight. Brice: Yeah. I agree. Roy: Cause we didn't switch in September, did we? Josh DeMage: No, but we looked at it and nobody was going to. The only one Bryce had first pick, he could have dropped the Blue Jays for the Red Sox. But other than that, nobody I mean, you weren't gonna drop the Phillies or the Yankees for the Mariners, Padres, Red Sox or Tigers, probably. Roy: Nah, the only one I probably would have dropped maybe the maybe the pirates. But that's all right. I don't know. We're good. Josh DeMage: Rockies, Cardinals, Athletics, Angels. Like we Yeah. That's what we said. We were like, he's winning, he's probably not gonna make any changes anyway. but yeah. ⁓ let's see. Roy: I'm good. I'm good. I'm winning, so well. I forgot all about it, so Josh DeMage: We'll recap some games next week. We'll probably do a standings look for ⁓ wild card stuff. It's really just the national league. The American League is we know the two teams in the wild card. We're just trying to figure out the last one. So next week we'll go into the standings and just look and maybe make some predictions on who we think. But yeah, baseball's ju it's gr it's a grind right now. It's the last three weeks, two weeks of the season, so Alright, I think that's really it. You guys miscellaneous. Bryce, I know you got a game. Brice: Yeah, I do. Roy, I don't know if you watched our game last week, but I did inf it's like guess the player, but it's sports moments. So it's like infamous sports moments, good or bad. Yeah, so we're doing that again. Roy: Mm-hmm. I did, actually I saw I did see that. Yeah. Cause you I saw a clip and then I went back and listened to you 'cause I listened to that part. Josh DeMage: You saw our ⁓ clip of it. Shout out AI. Brice: Yeah. I am gonna do ⁓ slightly harder ones. I still think you should get all three of these, especially doing them together. But ⁓ whenever you're ready, go ahead. Josh DeMage: It's is it a NFL moment? Brice: It is NFL. Josh DeMage: Did the moment happen within the last twenty years? Roy: Tough one. Brice: Yes. Josh DeMage: Okay. Was this a playoff moment? Brice: I don't think it was in the playoffs. Josh DeMage: You better figure out. Roy: What? Last twenty years not a playoff moment. Josh DeMage: Okay. Brice: Mm. It definitely was not. Josh DeMage: Yeah. ⁓ Roy, you want to try to figure out a team that it pertains? Roy: Well yeah, 'cause that's the only way 'cause I I mean, when you said last twenty years I was thinking Josh DeMage: Okay. Does this involve an NFC East team? Or excuse me, an AFC East team. Brice: Let me pull up the make sure I get you the right stuff. Josh DeMage: A F C E s team. Brice: AFC East, yes. Josh DeMage: ⁓ Roy, I think I actually might have drilled it. Roy: A F C E so that's the Jets. Josh DeMage: Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Patriots. Can I throw a dart out, Roy? Roy: Well Yeah, 'cause I got one in my head, but I don't know if that's right. Josh DeMage: What do you got? Well we can talk. What do you got? Roy: Well I like the butt fumble. Josh DeMage: ⁓ that okay. I'm almost I think the butt fumble happened in the playoffs. It might not have. We can keep the eye. It might have. I know one that definitely didn't happen in the playoffs. So, but if I'm wrong, we can try yours. It might not have been in the playoffs. My guess is the Miami miracle with Rob Gronkowski ⁓ trying to play safety and Miami scored on the laterals. Three or four. Yeah. Roy: Did it? ⁓ yeah. That was that was like week f I don't remember, like week six or something. Brice: Is that your guess? That is incorrect. Josh DeMage: Yeah, sorry, my dog's having a stroke. Yogi. Can I help you? Thank you. Roy, you wanna do your buff humble guest? Roy: Would it be what could it be the p Buffalo the Buffalo Cincinnati or ⁓ Chiefs game where they went back and forth? Josh DeMage: ⁓ that wasn't Buffalo, that was Rams and Chiefs that you're talking about. But Roy: With the Chiefs and No, I'm talking about when there's like three minutes left and jet digs ⁓ that was that wasn't that was a playoff game. I thought it was the end of regular season. Brice: That was in the playoffs. Josh DeMage: What else I'm kinda thinking of Roy, which I would never say this, but knowing Bryce, he might have chose it. And he's grinning, so I think I might have got it. Can I go ahead and guess Roy? Is this where Damar Hamlin basically died? ⁓ I was like, wow. Roy: Yeah. Brice: No, it is not. Roy: ⁓ my gosh, you would really do that? Brice: I did not know where you were going with that. Josh DeMage: I was like, yeah, knowing Bryce, he probably would pick that. ⁓ okay, let's do Butt Fumble then. I don't know if that was a playoff game or not for sure. Roy: ⁓ my gosh. Brice: It was the butt fumble. Josh DeMage: Butt fumble. Okay, good job, Roy. I thought that happened in the playoff. I thought it was, but I believe you that it wasn't. I don't know. Roy: So that was not a playoff game. I couldn't remember if that was or not. Brice: No, it says it was in November. There's no way of it couldn't have been playoffs if it was November. Josh DeMage: I couldn't think, but damn. ⁓ I'm sorry I had to say it. Roy: Fumble, I forgot I remember that game. Brice: All right, next one. Roy: Good old Sanchez. Josh DeMage: Yo gay. Roy: Then so how many is there? Is this next one? Okay. Brice: Yeah, it's three. Roy: Is this an NFL moment? Jeez. ⁓ has it happened in the last twenty years? Brice: It is in the NFL. Yes. Roy: It's an NFL moment in the last twenty years again. Josh DeMage: Cop. Playoff moment. Roy: I haven't asked. Brice: It was in the playoffs. Josh DeMage: Well it's not the Minneapolis miracle, ⁓ Roy. Roy: Yeah, I heard you had that one. Josh DeMage: Did this game also involve an AFC East team? Okay, it's not the comeback. Twenty eight to three. Brice: It did not. Josh DeMage: Playoff mom did it happen within the last twenty years. Okay. Playoff moment. ⁓ I didn't know that. Then it doesn't count. ⁓ Brice: Yes. Roy: Ask that question. Was gotta figure out the teams. Josh DeMage: Did this game involve an NFC North team? ⁓ I I don't know if he would pick it. Brice: It did. Roy: Playoff T Well Josh DeMage: I wanna guess it so bad, but I don't know if he would have depicted it. Brice: Don't you dare mention that, Josh. Josh DeMage: Is it it is it that or no? Brice: No. Josh DeMage: I'm gonna guess it anyway. Was it the double doink? Brice: Go ahead. It was not the fucking double donk, God. Roy: Ha. Josh DeMage: I had to, I'm sorry. Roy: I was thinking maybe it was the Colson Loveland touchdown that hear this last year. Josh DeMage: Shit, it could be. You wanna guess it? Brice: That was ⁓ cool. Roy: Figure it's certain a little too recent. Brice: Cold command is what you're thinking of, not close enough. Josh DeMage: NFC North, I think I mean Roy: The what? ⁓ yeah, c call comet. Josh DeMage: Did this team did this game involve the Minnesota Vikings? Damn, it's not my one of my favorite ones ever. So it's it's not it's either the Packers, Bears, or Lions. I don't think it's the Lions, cause they don't really have any big moments. Brice: Is it not? Roy: I know. Not winning moments. Josh DeMage: Well yeah. So Patriots or Patriots. Packers and Bears Roy: I doubt I just kinda guess it's a Bears moment in the playoffs. Josh DeMage: Is this a Bears moment? I fucking hate you. ⁓ does this involve the Dallas Cowboys as well? Brice: It's not. It does. Josh DeMage: The catch. Brice: The what? Josh DeMage: The catch. Roy: Des Bryan's catch? Brice: Roy, do you wanna Yeah, but what was it? Josh DeMage: The catch. The catch. Brice: The drop. That's what it was. You can see the drop right here, Ballsman. Josh DeMage: That's a catch. That's outrageous. That's a s unbelievable. Yeah, I literally never left his hand. Crazy. Brice: I didn't pick this one last week 'cause I thought you would get it so quickly. So Josh DeMage: It's actually not the one I was thinking when I said Packers Cowboys. Roy: I actually thought you were gonna talk about when the Packers like scored five touchdowns in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys a couple of years ago. Josh DeMage: I the one that I think of the most when I think of the ev I mean that one's more dramatic is when Dallas was a one seed in twenty sixteen Dak and Zeke's rookie year and we tied it after being down like twenty at half and Rogers threw a fucking corner route to James Cook or whatever his damn name is, the tight end, and he toe tapped it and Mason Crosby hit a fucking fifty nine yarder to win it. They had like six seconds and they got down the field. Brice: All right, one more to go. Josh DeMage: That one makes me more mad. Roy: One more. Josh DeMage: Is this a baseball moment? Okay. ⁓ Brice: No. Josh DeMage: Did this NFL moment happen within the last twenty years? Brice: No. Josh DeMage: Okay. Is it an FL moment? Brice: No. Josh DeMage: Is this a basketball moment? Well I'm less interested already. Brice: It is. Roy: Is it an MBA? Josh DeMage: Did it happen within the last twenty years? Brice: No, it did not. Roy: Is it an MBA moment? ⁓ okay. Didn't know if it was college or MBA. It did not happen in the last twenty years, so you're talking past two thousand five. Two thousand Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Blue game. Brice: What did you say, Josh? Josh DeMage: Blue game. Brice: If it's the flu game. Josh DeMage: I mean I'm I'm nasty with it, Roy. I'm nasty. Roy: Is that the flu game or is that the li his last actual shot? Brice: No, this is the flu game. Josh DeMage: I'm him. Brice: See, it looks like he's dying right here. Roy: It's always how he looks when he's Josh DeMage: Or it looks like he's faking it and he's a hundred percent fine from gambling all night. I mean I don't know which one, but hey. Roy: That was it wasn't flee with food poisoning. Josh DeMage: Yeah, from the fucking casino. I mean respect, but still. Okay. ⁓ I don't have a game this week. I kind of thought that it would take a little bit longer than we did, so I was afraid, so I didn't do one this week. Roy, you got anything? All right. That's gonna do it. Pod one forty eight's in the books. NFL's back, college football's back. We have made it. ⁓ yes, we have made it. Yep. Roy: I don't, so Baseball playoffs are coming up. Josh DeMage: Hit the like button, subscribe, comment, and we'll see you next week with our ⁓ results. Peace.
