- 0:02Welcome to the Elevate podcast where
- 0:04every leader has a story.
- 0:06We bring you conversations with
- 0:07influential leaders who are shaping our
- 0:09local communities.
- 0:11Hear about their path to leadership
- 0:13and experiences that define them.
- 0:15And how they're driving meaningful
- 0:17impact today.
- 0:19Hey everybody, Jason Almer here with
- 0:20another special episode of the Elevate
- 0:22powered by Braden podcast. As you can
- 0:24see, I'm kind of by myself and
- 0:26actually my face is up on the screen
- 0:28behind me. This episode is our 50th
- 0:31which is pretty special. We've had an
- 0:33awful lot of fun since we've launched
- 0:34this show
- 0:36in January of 2026.
- 0:39The conversations that we've had with
- 0:40for-profit leaders, non-profit leaders,
- 0:43we've talked with educators, with higher
- 0:45ed, K through 12, but the conversations
- 0:49have been terrific and we've heard a lot
- 0:51of themes across these first 50 episodes
- 0:54that have actually been very interesting
- 0:56to talk about. Just wanted to thank
- 0:58everybody that's been part of this
- 0:59community.
- 1:01We have had so much fun sharing these
- 1:03shows, sharing these episodes, the
- 1:05backstories and creating
- 1:07an opportunity for people to hear the
- 1:10journey of the leaders of a lot of the
- 1:12businesses that you know and you see and
- 1:14maybe even work with around the state of
- 1:16Indiana and Illinois. So first, thank
- 1:18you for all of those folks that have
- 1:20trusted us to share your story. We've
- 1:22appreciated it and it has been
- 1:24wonderful. For those that we've already
- 1:25recorded that are on their way out, be
- 1:27on the lookout for them.
- 1:29It's been an awful lot of fun having
- 1:31those conversations and
- 1:33before we get to some of those themes,
- 1:34you can also tell that we've kind of
- 1:35evolved the actual studio as well.
- 1:39More shelves, more books, more items.
- 1:42Thank you for the items that are in here
- 1:44and all of the branded pieces that we've
- 1:46had. A little bit of something from all
- 1:48the different conversations and the
- 1:50books have been very special. It's been
- 1:51one of the kind of neatest questions
- 1:54we've had a chance to be able to ask our
- 1:56guests that have been on for their
- 1:57favorite books. As you can see, there's
- 2:00business books, there's family books,
- 2:02there's children's books, but every one
- 2:03of these has a a story behind it, and
- 2:06those stories were told right here in
- 2:08the studio, or in some cases out at
- 2:11their locations where we've had the
- 2:12chance to do that.
- 2:14One of the things we've done that's been
- 2:15very consistent is not only we shared
- 2:17their stories, but we've asked three
- 2:19specific questions of our guests.
- 2:22And one of those questions is the
- 2:24the evolution of technology in their
- 2:26space.
- 2:28You know, Braden Business Systems has
- 2:29been around since 1989, and we're a
- 2:31technology company. And one of the
- 2:33things we like to hear is how is
- 2:34technology evolving across all these
- 2:37different businesses that we're talking
- 2:39to?
- 2:40And one of the things that we've heard,
- 2:41just in general,
- 2:43is that everybody we talk to is in the
- 2:44people business. Whether they're high
- 2:47school educators and superintendents
- 2:49helping that next generation of leaders,
- 2:52whether they're in manufacturing, or
- 2:54they're legal, or medical, they're all
- 2:56about taking care of people. And kind of
- 2:58one of the things that I've heard is
- 3:00leveraging AI as a tool to be able to
- 3:03supercharge
- 3:05their employees, their workers, their
- 3:07teammates, to be able to do more and
- 3:09accelerate their business, but also
- 3:11creating an opportunity for them to do
- 3:13what we've kind of called around here
- 3:15HI, human intelligence. We've heard that
- 3:18quite a bit where let's leverage the
- 3:20machine to be able to take care of some
- 3:22of those tasks that can be automated
- 3:23very easily,
- 3:25but allowing those workers to be able to
- 3:26do more and be able to be in front of
- 3:29customers, patients, whoever that
- 3:30happens to be, more and provide a better
- 3:33care and a better level of service.
- 3:36It's been great to hear how our leaders
- 3:37have thought about leveraging technology
- 3:39as another tool in our arsenal to be
- 3:42able to go out and help our clients.
- 3:44The other question that we ask people
- 3:47is about community.
- 3:48And when we thought about putting the
- 3:50podcast together, we wanted to
- 3:51understand what people thought about
- 3:53community. We asked that question. I
- 3:55asked that question.
- 3:56What's community mean to you?
- 3:59It's been answered so many different
- 4:00ways. It's awesome. But there are a lot
- 4:03of themes in there as well. You can hear
- 4:05people talking about others first.
- 4:08You hear them talking about maybe
- 4:09nonprofits that they happen to care
- 4:11about. You hear them talking about their
- 4:13families. You hear them talking about
- 4:15their culture and their business.
- 4:17And you hear them talking in general
- 4:19thinking about how to help others and to
- 4:22raise up people in their community to
- 4:24make the world a better place.
- 4:26That theme is very common across all of
- 4:28our leaders that we've talked to.
- 4:30The last thing we've asked folks is
- 4:32we've asked them, "What are you doing
- 4:33for fun?"
- 4:35So if they're if they're not working,
- 4:37what are they doing for fun? That answer
- 4:38has been in so many different ways.
- 4:41But there are some things that we've
- 4:42heard over and over again. We hear the
- 4:44word family.
- 4:45Being with family, having an opportunity
- 4:47to to spend time with others to
- 4:50recharge, um to work on themselves, uh
- 4:53to be forever learners. I think that's
- 4:55something we've heard so many different
- 4:57times where folks have said that they
- 5:00will forever be learning on their
- 5:01journey, whether that's reading, being
- 5:03part of mastermind groups, uh being part
- 5:06of community opportunities where they
- 5:08get a chance to be with other leaders.
- 5:10Uh but having an opportunity to continue
- 5:12to learn, that's definitely something
- 5:14that we've we've definitely heard.
- 5:16You know, these these stories that
- 5:18they've told us
- 5:20have been their genesis stories. They
- 5:21told us
- 5:23where they're from, uh how they got to
- 5:25school,
- 5:26whether they thought they were going to
- 5:27end up being a teacher and a coach and
- 5:30shifting to becoming an accountant, for
- 5:32example. Uh we've heard folks talk about
- 5:35uh conversations that they thought they
- 5:37were going to be in the Air Force and be
- 5:38a pilot
- 5:40and end up uh being a medical doctor and
- 5:42now they're a CPO.
- 5:43But the journeys have been just terrific
- 5:46to hear. And again, our thoughts around
- 5:49bringing these stories to life is to
- 5:51build community.
- 5:53And that community is something that
- 5:55when you learn somebody's story, you
- 5:57learn their journey, you put a human
- 5:59element to that. That human element
- 6:01allows you to understand the person
- 6:03behind the brand. As you can see from
- 6:06the studio, there's a lot of brands in
- 6:08here that people know the name of. You
- 6:11drive by these offices, you see some of
- 6:13their trucks, you maybe use some of
- 6:14their services, work with them. And when
- 6:17you hear the story of the leaders and
- 6:19their why that they wake up and do
- 6:21things and how they take care of their
- 6:23people and how they care for the
- 6:25community, you really put something
- 6:27behind that brand other than just their
- 6:29product. You put a person. And
- 6:31ultimately, that's what we're trying to
- 6:33do here.
- 6:34You know, the Elevate Podcast powered by
- 6:36Braden has been a wonderful opportunity
- 6:38to be able to share those stories and
- 6:40man, we are looking forward to sharing
- 6:42more of those stories in the future.
- 6:44And I can tell you that from everybody
- 6:46here at Braden, we thank all of them.
- 6:48Just like we did kind of starting this
- 6:49off, we thank everybody that's been in
- 6:51here. We appreciate you. We appreciate
- 6:53you allowing us the honor to share your
- 6:55story and we're just getting started.
- 6:58We're doing it here in Indianapolis.
- 6:59We've done some on location and some
- 7:02actually remote up in Chicago. We're
- 7:05branching out and so we're going to go
- 7:07outside the state of Indiana yet again
- 7:10cuz Cincinnati, here we come. We're
- 7:11going to be having conversations with
- 7:13folks in Cincinnati here very soon. We
- 7:15have a few lined up. We're looking
- 7:17forward to getting those started. So,
- 7:19you'll see us in your city there. So, if
- 7:21you haven't seen the show, I encourage
- 7:23you to take a look at it. It's not about
- 7:25us. It's completely about those folks
- 7:27that are sitting in our chair or if
- 7:29we're sitting with them
- 7:30in front of the their actual screens or
- 7:32where we happen to be at their office.
- 7:35But pay attention. There's a lot of
- 7:36great wisdom that can be learned from
- 7:38these leaders. You learn more about
- 7:39them, their business, and their brand.
- 7:41And uh, and by the way, you know, we've
- 7:43had folks on the show that have been,
- 7:46uh, have been here in our office, that
- 7:48we've been out in front of their
- 7:49locations. We actually had a chance to
- 7:52film out at the Indianapolis Speedway
- 7:55Museum in front of a couple of the
- 7:57winning cars in the first ever Indy 500
- 7:59winning car. I don't know about you, the
- 8:01story was great, individual was amazing,
- 8:04but that location is just beautiful. We
- 8:06also happen to have a chance to be
- 8:07downtown with the governor and have a
- 8:09chance to share his backstory about who
- 8:12he is, about his family and his
- 8:13business, and we thank him for that
- 8:15time.
- 8:16All the others, I could go through all
- 8:18of the folks that we've had on from very
- 8:20early when the studio looked completely
- 8:22different until now where we sit here,
- 8:24where we actually need to add some more
- 8:26shelves cuz we continue to have just a
- 8:28lot more things, uh, here in the studio.
- 8:31And I will give a little bit of a
- 8:32special thanks. Uh, if you see these
- 8:34helmets and hats and all these different
- 8:37pieces that are branded by others, that
- 8:39all started as a happy happy accident
- 8:40cuz Jeff Hagerman decided to bring us in
- 8:42a a Hagerman pillow and a Hagerman
- 8:45helmet. So, thank you, Jeff. I
- 8:46appreciate you doing that cuz it kind of
- 8:48started all of this off. And the book
- 8:50idea, the book idea was something that
- 8:52we had fairly early on as a way to be
- 8:55able to, you know, thank people for
- 8:58coming in and giving them an opportunity
- 9:00to share some of their thoughts and
- 9:02maybe a book that shaped their lives.
- 9:04And as you can see by our library, we're
- 9:06building out an awesome library here at
- 9:07the studio.
- 9:09So, I'm going to close out just the kind
- 9:10of the way that I started. 50th episode,
- 9:12we're just getting started. These
- 9:15episodes are going to continue forward
- 9:16and again, like I said, Indianapolis,
- 9:19thank you. Chicago, thank you. There's
- 9:21more episodes coming out there in those
- 9:23spotlights. And Ohio, we're coming your
- 9:25way. Looking forward to seeing some
- 9:26folks in Cincinnati. And stay If you
- 9:29haven't paid attention to the episodes,
- 9:30get out there, watch somebody that you
- 9:32know, learn more about them. And I
- 9:34appreciate you. Thank you, everybody for
- 9:35your time.
