- 1:46We had him laughing and, you know, we were talking about his
- 1:50book and we were talking about sausages.
- 1:51That Speedy is the king of all sausages, right, Speedy?
- 1:54I don't associate with monarchs. Well, there you go.
- 1:57He doesn't associate with monarchs, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:59I do, as we all know again. I need a gin and tonic.
- 2:04As we all know again go back in time when you when when you
- 2:06figure out how to do time. Give me that chicken Curry.
- 2:08You can go live in freaking. Ancient or.
- 2:11Something else like? That bagel hole.
- 2:13That's a bagel hole, as I always say.
- 2:15Yeah, go bring bagel holes to ancient society.
- 2:17I gotta go back off now. Somebody's got to whack your
- 2:20mutant ESPN to. Say, why is Bagel Hole the
- 2:25funniest one? I don't know.
- 2:26I just had to tell him it was like bagel hole.
- 2:29Bagel Hole. The old bagel hole.
- 2:34Somebody got to use that bagel hole, right?
- 2:36Speedy. Yeah, maybe it'll be nothing.
- 2:38Have you ever put your fingers between the bagel hole?
- 2:41Have you ever grabbed the bagel hole?
- 2:43OK, there we go. I thought you were virgin
- 2:46anyways. ESPN reports that Trey
- 2:49Hendrickson will not play for the Bengals on his current deal.
- 2:53He told reporters that he tried to take personal feelings out of
- 2:58their contract negotiations, but over time it got very personal.
- 3:02Hendrickson said there has still been a lack of communications
- 3:07with the Bengals this month after he took shots at them for
- 3:13their Baird April Fools joke last month.
- 3:16Hendrickson compared the comments he heard from the
- 3:21Bengals from the fun office and shark attacks and said he has
- 3:26been caught off guard on many occasions.
- 3:30He still believes the relationship with the team could
- 3:33be repaired with time, but called this an uncomfortable
- 3:37business side of football. Hendrickson.
- 3:39Hendrickson is entering his final year of his contract worth
- 3:43about $15.8 million and Hendrickson led the NFL with
- 3:4717.5 sacks last season, 57 sacks since joining the Bengals in
- 3:532021. I, I, I feel bad for Trey
- 3:56Hendrickson. I really do, because when you
- 3:59look at Jamar Chase and you look at all the players that have got
- 4:03their money and they're sensational, Jamar Chase is one
- 4:06of the best wide receivers in the league.
- 4:07Last year he was T Higgins. He couldn't stay healthy for the
- 4:12last four years, really three years if you really look at it,
- 4:15the last three seasons he hasn't been healthy and he had last
- 4:19year. When he came back, he looked
- 4:20really, really good. Now I understand Joe Burrow is
- 4:22the captain. He is the face of the
- 4:25organization and he wanted T Higgins back, but this defense
- 4:29was nothing and has been nothing without Trey Hendrickson.
- 4:33He is everything to that defense.
- 4:35You could put him anywhere on that defensive line and he's
- 4:37better than any second tier player they have on that roster
- 4:41right now. It would bother me if I was Trey
- 4:43Hendrickson and I'm looking at myself as a player that averaged
- 4:49not once but twice back-to-back years. 17.5 sacks.
- 4:53I was the the leading sack guy last year and I still don't
- 4:57don't have a contract. I'm making 15 and a half million
- 5:00dollars when Miles Garrett wasn't better than I was.
- 5:04That's what I'm saying. I am the same age as Miles
- 5:07Garrett and Miles Garrett is making more money than me when I
- 5:11had a better season than he did. And Miles Garrett has better
- 5:14defensive players on a defensive line than Trey Hendrickson.
- 5:17Just think about it. Every team knows that Trey
- 5:20Hendrickson is the best player on that line and they still
- 5:23can't stop him. Just think about that.
- 5:26So it would bother me when I look at my roster and say, well,
- 5:30who's going to match what I've done for this defense?
- 5:32Who's going to match what I've done for this team over the last
- 5:36couple of years? As far as I'm concerned, besides
- 5:39Joe Burrow, Trey Hendrickson in the last two years has been the
- 5:42second most important player to this team.
- 5:44So and he's not getting paid that kind of money.
- 5:47That has something to do with coaching and the executives up
- 5:50top, the GM who obviously sitting back and listen to Joe
- 5:54Burrow. I love Joe and he's such a he's
- 5:57got such a babyface. I mean, his his blonde hair last
- 6:00season going into the season, great.
- 6:02He he stands for something and all the fans want to be like
- 6:05Joe. He's not Joe Montana.
- 6:08That's all I'm going to say. He is not Joe Montana because if
- 6:12he was, he would have won a championship.
- 6:15He did not win a championship when he went all the way to the
- 6:18the Super Bowl. He matter of fact lost against
- 6:21Matthew Stafford and the Rams. So and and by the way, why did
- 6:26they get there? Everybody keeps talking about
- 6:28what Joe Burrow did. Let's go ask Trey Hendrickson
- 6:31what he did. So I just, I feel so bad when
- 6:35you look at the picture right now with the Bengals and where
- 6:39the Bengals see Trey Hendrickson at, they really don't feel that
- 6:43he is an important piece to this team moving forward.
- 6:47He's still 30 years old. He's in still in somewhat of a
- 6:50prime of his career. I still think he has two, maybe
- 6:533 decent years left at his position.
- 6:56The guy is in tremendous shape. The guy plays practically every
- 7:00single game. I mean, he plays hurt.
- 7:02He's always out there and he's a team leader.
- 7:05Everything that you see on and off the field personality wise
- 7:09and even at the press conferences, he stands for
- 7:12everything you want as a Bengals organization and the Bengals
- 7:15organization that's been a laughing stock.
- 7:17Go look at Vontae Perfect. Remember that guy?
- 7:21Remember Perfect and remember what he did hen hunting and
- 7:24doing the things that he did on the field.
- 7:27Go ask Antonio Brown what he thought about Vontae Bart
- 7:30perfect. OK, he doesn't really like him
- 7:32and I'm sure he wasn't a big fan of his.
- 7:35I I there you go show the show the clip because I think Antonio
- 7:40Brown is, you know, brain dead because of this head.
- 7:43All right, And that was because perfect was just an absolute
- 7:46disgusting person. Trey Hendrickson doesn't go head
- 7:49hunting. He doesn't try to hurt people.
- 7:51He goes out there and plays the game right.
- 7:53And to me in in in the what, four or five seasons he's been
- 7:57there, he's been as good at defensive lineman as anybody in
- 8:00the league. And it's a shameful thing when
- 8:02you look at an organization that doesn't really look at him as a
- 8:06prized possession to what this team could be or what this team
- 8:10should be as a championship, championship competition,
- 8:13positive team. I, I also will say this, I look
- 8:17at an organization, OK. And there are positions that you
- 8:21look for to build your team around.
- 8:24And here's where I'm going to go #1 quarterback #2 offensive
- 8:31lineman #3 that's the left tackle, all right?
- 8:35Left tackle is your number two, Number three.
- 8:39You can argue it's your corner or a pass rusher.
- 8:43I'm going to go pass rusher. So you need an offensive tackle,
- 8:48a pass rusher, and then a corner and and then a wide receiver.
- 8:52And you went with wide receivers over a pass rusher.
- 8:58Does that make any sense, guys? I would say no.
- 9:01That to me tells me why the Bengals have not won a
- 9:05championship and how long. I'm sorry, never won a
- 9:08championship. That's right.
- 9:10And that's why this team will never win a championship with
- 9:14the roster they have right now. And Taylor's going to be looking
- 9:17for a job at the end of the season as well, because making
- 9:20this decision only shows you the lack of coaching for this
- 9:25organization moving forward as well.
- 9:27And it's also a lack of a sense of direction too, because we
- 9:29talked about with the Cowboys, like they just like they'll do a
- 9:31lot of the flashy moves. Jerry Jones, a de facto GM and
- 9:34Mike Brown's kind of that same kind of thing.
- 9:36I know they have a president of football operations that's
- 9:37overseeing anything, but this is a very differently run team when
- 9:40Marvin Lewis was there. The Bengals are great at
- 9:42drafting homegrown defensive player, so they could be able
- 9:44to. They didn't keep them all the
- 9:45time. They were notoriously cheap, but
- 9:47they really build a good defense that way since he's since he's
- 9:50got. Yum Yum.
- 9:51Since he stepped away from the team, which, yeah, it was time.
- 9:52It was over a fresh thing. They outside of Logan Wilson and
- 9:57maybe Jesse Bates like those are the only two homegrown drafted
- 10:00defensive players that they've had.
- 10:01Everything else they accumulated from free agency included Trey
- 10:04Hendrickson. They let go of Carl Lawson, who
- 10:06was the young pass rusher alongside Carlos Dunlap.
- 10:09He is as an injury Riddle career Trey Hendrickson is one of the.
- 10:12Most breaking news? Most durable?
- 10:14And consistently productive defensive lineman and you let
- 10:17and now you're going to let these this relationship be
- 10:19toxic. Sam Hubbard retired this
- 10:21offseason. Who?
- 10:22Was. A good second, 2nd complimentary
- 10:24piece to Hendrickson. They let go DJ Reed or the run
- 10:27defense fell off badly. Meanwhile Detroit became into
- 10:29the top ten losing that. They lost both safeties like
- 10:32they have no direction and you would think like you would see
- 10:35that with especially with all the receivers left in free
- 10:37agency. They could have gotten Amari
- 10:39Cooper for a contract to go alongside Chase and not pay T
- 10:42Higgins could have traded him in the draft.
- 10:44And then they also don't draft as good of defensive players as
- 10:46they could have fished you And I were very skeptical with Stewart
- 10:49and Demetrius Knight in the second round was a fourth round
- 10:52talent. Like they don't really build up
- 10:54this team very well. And who says that they didn't
- 10:57aren't going to deter other defensive players this way.
- 10:59Miles Murphy was a good first round pick, but he hasn't
- 11:01developed a side the same kind of thing.
- 11:03And who says that these want to stay there in this system with
- 11:05the Bengals? I I've been skeptical of Taylor
- 11:08as a whole, but this isn't all his fault.
- 11:09This is ownership too. Wanting a flashier move when you
- 11:12don't need it. This is a team that had a good
- 11:14running. Spin on it, Speedy this.
- 11:16Was a team that had a good running game and a good tight
- 11:18end play last year. Rely on those of your second
- 11:19target and then figure out Higgins later.
- 11:21You had to pay this guy and now you're going to lose him for
- 11:24less than you would have expected.
- 11:26So The thing is they don't have to lose him.
- 11:28They still could pay him. They have enough cap room where
- 11:32they could give him like a pretty decent, you know, size
- 11:36cap hit this first year and fit him under the contract.
- 11:40But they're pinching pennies with this guy.
- 11:42I don't care. The mind, I don't understand.
- 11:46The guy had 17 1/2 sacks in each of the last two seasons.
- 11:50Not me. Reports that they're nitpicking
- 11:53that oh, those sacks were against inferior competition.
- 11:57You know, a lot of the times, well, if you're the second team,
- 12:02all pro, everyone's inferior competition to you.
- 12:05That's how good he is. What are we talking about here?
- 12:10Obviously, you know he's not going to have as many sacks
- 12:13against all pros. No one is.
- 12:16That's just not how it works. And plus, who else is on that
- 12:20defensive line, right that they had to?
- 12:22Gain a lot of first and second round picks.
- 12:23They haven't been able to develop because this
- 12:25organization doesn't want to do it.
- 12:26Clean themselves. Who gets doubled and chipped
- 12:29every single play? Trey Hendrickson.
- 12:32And you wonder why his production was down against
- 12:34certain teams when they knew all they had to do is take care of
- 12:38him. And then they can put up 40
- 12:40points against you and beat you 40 to 38.
- 12:42Because, look, you have a great offense.
- 12:45T Higgins is great. He'd be a #1 receiver on maybe,
- 12:48you know, 8 to 10 other teams in the NFL right now, right?
- 12:52Something like that. Maybe a little bit more, maybe.
- 12:54Maybe I'm being unfair to him. I don't know if I like it.
- 12:58Right around probably at least 10, right?
- 13:01So but why do you pay that? And before him, like I
- 13:07understand maybe they would have lost him if they didn't pay him.
- 13:09They could have figured it out with a franchise tag and then
- 13:12like worked on it again. Like they could have done it
- 13:14temporarily and fixed. It you just made my nipples hard
- 13:16it. Would have been super easy to do
- 13:18that. What do they have against this
- 13:20guy? And if they didn't want to keep
- 13:22Trey Hendrickson, why not trade him before the draft?
- 13:25Pulled it out of my ass. So they really think
- 13:29Hendrickson's just going to come back.
- 13:31We were talking about them being traded last draft.
- 13:33And they started. He says he's not playing on this
- 13:37contract no matter what. And it's going to be a staring
- 13:39contest between a guy who doesn't, you know, he's the
- 13:43captain of the defense, one of the captains of the defense and
- 13:46doesn't want to give up on his team.
- 13:48And they're going to put him in a situation where he may not get
- 13:52paid going forwards like a lot of people do, and he has to risk
- 13:58getting hurt. And we've seen this go wrong for
- 14:00a lot of people and the team is pretty messed up for kind of
- 14:04putting him out there is like a lame duck year in his contract.
- 14:07I also think that when when you look at the Bengals in the
- 14:10division that they're in, they're in a very tough
- 14:12division. And even though Pittsburgh's
- 14:14going to be looking for their quarterback, it looks like it's
- 14:16going to be Aaron Rodgers. Pittsburgh still absolutely
- 14:19loaded when it comes to their defense.
- 14:21They they did lose George Pickens, but it doesn't really
- 14:24matter. They're always a good defensive
- 14:26team. They're always going to be able
- 14:27to compete. Even the Browns with the roster
- 14:29that they have, even the guys that they drafted this year,
- 14:32they had a very good draft. I mean, they added a great
- 14:35defensive lineman and Graham, you put him obviously with Miles
- 14:39Garrett on that defensive line, that's going to be scary.
- 14:42And then they're even though I don't know who's going to be
- 14:45their quarterback and hopefully it's not Mr. Charlie Rod
- 14:48himself. And if it is, he's going to be
- 14:50throwing from the fifth round and probably going to the 6th or
- 14:537th, if you know what I mean. I just think that right now
- 14:57they're in a division that's very tough.
- 14:58The Baltimore Ravens are by far the best team in that division
- 15:02and and they're they're going to be searching.
- 15:04And I just don't know if this is a smart move by the Bengals when
- 15:08they're trying to compete with those teams that are still going
- 15:11to be able to throw against them.
- 15:12Just think about it. You think the Ravens aren't
- 15:13going to be able to throw against that defense?
- 15:15They don't stand a chance against the Ravens.
- 15:17Who's going to stop, by the way? Who's going to try to catch
- 15:19Lamar Jackson on that defensive line?
- 15:22Nobody. OK.
- 15:23And then you look at the Pittsburgh Steelers, you look at
- 15:26that, what they're capable of doing, if they can dominate Joe
- 15:29Burrow and keep Joe Burrow from throwing the ball, how the hell
- 15:33I'm going to repeat how they going to stop the Pittsburgh
- 15:36Steelers if Aaron Rodgers is there, they've got a running
- 15:39game, they got everything. What are they going to do over
- 15:42there against Pittsburgh? They are to me, if they don't
- 15:45bring Trey Hendrickson back, they don't even, they're not
- 15:48even the second or third best team.
- 15:49They might be. They might just be as bad as the
- 15:52Browns. OK, that's crazy to say that.
- 15:55They might just be as bad as the Browns because at least the
- 15:57Browns have defense and they got guys that can go after you.
- 16:00The Browns are going to keep it close.
- 16:02And you know, the Browns cause havoc to Joe Burrow.
- 16:06Joe Burrow has problems against the Browns every single year.
- 16:09He has problems against Pittsburgh, and he has problems
- 16:11against the Ravens. And now you don't have defense
- 16:14that's going to be able to stop their best players.
- 16:16Oh, boy, this might be a long, long season.
- 16:19And by the way, what did the Bengals do in the draft this
- 16:22year? What did they do?
- 16:24Did they did they help out after the whole Trey Hendrickson
- 16:28thing? No, they did nothing to help
- 16:32out. What they what they're doing to
- 16:34Trey Hendrickson right now? I, I just think I would have
- 16:37jumped. I would have moved up.
- 16:38I would have gotten Graham. I would have done whatever I
- 16:41could to get a great that maybe Abdul Karter, maybe move up at
- 16:45#2 and get Abdul. Karter.
- 16:46His replacement, Errol. They think they're going to
- 16:49replace 35 sacks in the last two years, 17 1/2 in each season
- 16:54with a guy who had 1 1/2 sacks in each of the last three
- 16:58seasons in Texas A&M. That's their plan.
- 17:04Legitimately, that's their plan. They better hope the two they
- 17:08drafted in the other other years are going to hit because that's
- 17:10the philosophy you're going on. But they haven't hit.
- 17:12There's two home grown players since Marvin Lewis has retired,
- 17:15Jesse Bates and Logan Wilson that have been good everyone.
- 17:17Else is free agents. To hope he's the best player
- 17:20against the run anyone's ever seen, ever.
- 17:24Well, pretty much. It's, it's not a good sign if
- 17:27you're a Bengals fan and you shouldn't be happy that your
- 17:29best defensive player is not very happy with your
- 17:32organization. And, and saying that it's going
- 17:34to take a lot for this to be repaired.
- 17:36I, I don't think it's going to be repaired.
- 17:38They're going to have to move him and they're going to have to
- 17:41be lucky to find somebody either in free agency or somebody that
- 17:45gets dropped during OTAs because they're not getting along with
- 17:49teammates or maybe they don't think they don't.
- 17:51The Eagles are loaded. They're loaded.
- 17:54So maybe the Eagles decide, hey, this guy doesn't fit nor we want
- 17:58to go a different route and and they drop one of their mediocre
- 18:02players and maybe they add him, add one of those guys to the the
- 18:06Bengals defensive line. Because they got to get really,
- 18:09really lucky if if Trey Hendrickson decides to part ways
- 18:13and they decide to even move him.
- 18:15And I don't know if they can move him because he's a free
- 18:17agent, right? He's after this year, he's a
- 18:18free agent. That's why I made.
- 18:19More so, they can they can trade him.
- 18:21They could they. Could trade him, but they could.
- 18:23They should have traded him. At the draft Fish, we talked
- 18:25about how the edge rushers were falling to like one of those
- 18:27teams that maybe missed out and maybe didn't take an edge
- 18:29rusher. You couldn't have got to the
- 18:30back end of the first round. I know Jamie Lee wanted one for
- 18:33his Packers, the Packers with the team, I was saying.
- 18:34You're not getting a first round draft pick for.
- 18:36Hendricks they could have at the time, and now they let this get
- 18:38ugly, so now they're not going so.
- 18:40It's you're not getting a first round pick for.
- 18:42A second round. A second round you could.
- 18:45But you could get a second and maybe like a fifth or something
- 18:48like that. And there's a lot of value in
- 18:50that, you know, to teams that draft intelligently, unlike the
- 18:54Bengals. I I still can't believe they
- 18:57went with the project to to replace a proven commodity.
- 19:02I just don't understand that. Or do they really?
- 19:05Are they really just that cheap and just that brutal of an
- 19:10ownership? Well, they're not cheap.
- 19:11Look what they gave Jamar, Chase and T Higgins.
- 19:13I am not cheap but why are they pinching pennies with this guy
- 19:16when they still have cap room to fit them in?
- 19:19They could. You know they don't have to put
- 19:20the whole cap charge in the first year right?
- 19:23Like it's very easy to manipulate that and I don't
- 19:26understand why they're not doing that's why team signed guys to
- 19:29extensions in the 1st place to manipulate that cap room in that
- 19:32first year. Are you telling me you can't fit
- 19:35this guy into your roster or you're just going to play it
- 19:38down? You're just going to do a
- 19:39showdown with him because you in well, you just figure he's not
- 19:43going to be good after this year or maybe he's a little overrated
- 19:47because stat sacks don't, you know, tell the whole story.
- 19:50But maybe second team All Pro tells the whole story.
- 19:53Who says this is the only play that's going to happen, too?
- 19:55There's other veterans that were frustrated with the contracts,
- 19:57too. It's going to be a whole ripple
- 19:58effect. All right, boys.
- 20:00So we got to move on, as we call this, inside baseball.
- 20:04Now let's go deep. Deep inside what?
- 20:08I am exciting. This is inside baseball.
- 20:11All right, Who's that sexy guy with the pink on Speedy?
- 20:16Who's that? Who's that?
- 20:18Let me look in the crowd. See.
- 20:20You idiot. That's funny so.
- 20:23Guys. We are doing inside baseball
- 20:25this. Is I need a genuine tonic?
- 20:29For baseball stories of the week, and we're going to start
- 20:32off with the big, big story that broke almost added in nowhere.
- 20:37I was actually on the phone with Errol when it broke.
- 20:38Yep, Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson and the entire eight men
- 20:45out have been. If you've ever seen the movie or
- 20:47even a story about the Black Sox Scandal 1919, we're all
- 20:52reinstated to be eligible for the Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
- 20:58Field of Dreams, baby. Field of Dreams.
- 21:00The Field of Dreams, obviously. You know, famous movie about
- 21:04Shoeless Joe Jackson. It's one of my favorite movies
- 21:06of all time. Personal.
- 21:08Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones. Fantastic.
- 21:11It's hard. It's I found it very hard for a
- 21:14long time not to tear up watching the end of that movie.
- 21:17I think it's one of the best endings of any movie ever.
- 21:20But that aside, this was never supposed to happen.
- 21:24Never ever supposed to happen. There's a bunch of reasons that
- 21:28made that happen. We're not going to get into that
- 21:29specifically. But now there's a whole bunch to
- 21:32talk about. And if they get in this year,
- 21:35and we know Shoeless Joe is probably is, is the big name for
- 21:38that. But there were other, a couple
- 21:40of other guys, I believe Jabba that were also borderline Hall
- 21:43of farmers as well on that in that group.
- 21:46They were a World Series team after all.
- 21:48So guys, what do you think? Let's start off with what do you
- 21:51think about. I mean, we talked about it a
- 21:53bunch of times on the. Show Pete Rose.
- 21:56Pete Rose should have been a Hall of Famer.
- 21:58Pete Rose should have been a Hall of Famer 40 years ago.
- 22:01Okay, it's pathetic. Baseball, I understand.
- 22:04He bet on baseball. So did Che Otani, and he's still
- 22:07playing in the league. OK, I don't want to hear it.
- 22:09This guy was to me. I wasn't alive to watch him.
- 22:13I I watched Ichiro Suzuki. But you can argue this guy is
- 22:16the greatest hitter of all time. 4000 hits.
- 22:18He just dominated at the plate. He averaged almost two hits
- 22:21every single game. The guy's a special player.
- 22:24Now, what he does on and off the field, I don't know.
- 22:27What he does on and off the field has nothing to do with
- 22:29this game on the field. The fact that he's not in the
- 22:32Hall of Fame is despicable baseball.
- 22:34Bud Selick should be ashamed of himself.
- 22:36How about George Steinburner? What is he going into all Hall
- 22:38of Fame? I know Bud Selig sitting pretty
- 22:40right there after the whole steroid era.
- 22:42I shoeless Joe absolutely should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 22:47It it doesn't make any sense now obviously is another one that
- 22:50was a part of that scandal. I I understand they made a movie
- 22:53about it all these guys, no matter what they did in the
- 22:57past, they were important parts of baseball at some point of
- 23:02their careers. They were.
- 23:04He was shoeless Joe could be arguably one of the greatest
- 23:07center fielders of all time. People don't know.
- 23:09Kids don't know because guess what?
- 23:11He's not in the Hall of Fame. So he deserves to be there.
- 23:14And I absolutely believe the one and only Pete Roche believe
- 23:18should be there and so many other people that a lot of
- 23:21people have held him back from it.
- 23:23How about Jeff Kent now? He has nothing to do with this.
- 23:25Why isn't Jeff Kent in the Hall of Fame pulling multiple
- 23:28positions? He's one of the greatest second
- 23:30base second baseman's we ever seen.
- 23:33Power wise, can hit, can do everything.
- 23:35Why? Cuz he's got a big mouth and
- 23:37he's got something to say. So does everybody else.
- 23:40I'm sorry I had to do. That yeah, it's the crazy part
- 23:45is I don't know if you really delved into this because this
- 23:50won't go to vote till December of 27th.
- 23:53Yep. So the the Hall of Fame
- 23:55committee, so they would actually the first time that
- 23:57they would be eligible to go in is they would be in the 28th
- 24:01Hall of Fame committee, whatever it is.
- 24:05So they, they wouldn't even go in now, which, which is really
- 24:07interesting because why, why are you waiting this long if you
- 24:10just basically overturned all of this and you're delaying the
- 24:15inevitable because the committee, because you got to
- 24:17get 12 out of 16 votes. And why is it, why are we
- 24:23waiting literally over 2 years as you just announced it and
- 24:28we're not even in December yet? Is it's a no, it's a no brainer.
- 24:33It really is. I mean, there's, I wouldn't say
- 24:36all that because there's 17 total guys that got reinstated
- 24:40and I just think they'll, they'll probably more than a
- 24:44handful. I wouldn't say we're going to
- 24:47get in the double digits, but we're probably going to be, I
- 24:50would say in the 6:00-ish range based upon the names obviously
- 24:56that were on that list, 22, obviously that should be in
- 25:01anyways, without a doubt. Pete did have a chance to get
- 25:07in. He he had a meeting and and he
- 25:11literally said the same thing. So he kind of put himself back
- 25:14into a corner of not being reinstated at the time when he
- 25:17had that conversation. And this was this was some years
- 25:20ago. But with that being said, he did
- 25:23it when he was a manager. He wasn't a player.
- 25:25And you know, Shoeless Joe and and obviously that's one of my
- 25:30favorite movies too. If you guys haven't seen it yet,
- 25:33check that movie out. So those two for sure.
- 25:37And I think they'll be about 3 or 4 more others.
- 25:39But this was long time overdue. I think this should have been
- 25:43done a long time ago. I.
- 25:44Think, by the way, I'm sorry to cut you off.
- 25:46I, I think Barry Bonds should be getting to be put back on that
- 25:49list. Roger Clemens, all those guys
- 25:52that did steroids. OK, so that's my point though,
- 25:55if they're doing this for guys that were, you know, banned now.
- 25:59So now do they go back? Because we've obviously we've
- 26:02had this conversation before and everybody has baseball fans and
- 26:05baseball people. It's like, OK, the Metro report
- 26:07came out, Balco, all the other stuff.
- 26:10There are gentlemen that were admitted on that report that are
- 26:14in the Hall of Fame. So do they do they create
- 26:18another list where it's like, OK, the the steroid era with
- 26:24Bonds Clemens, you know? Alex.
- 26:27Rodriguez I love Andy Pettitte. He said one time that he did it
- 26:31a rod you got. And then there's other there's a
- 26:33handful of guys that was Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire.
- 26:38Hall of farmers before steroids? No.
- 26:40Was Barry Bonds a Hall of Famer before?
- 26:42Steroids. Yes, was Rodger Clemens, Yes,
- 26:45yes was Andy Pettitte and who admit and of all people that I
- 26:50have gotten to know and I'm talking about in general life
- 26:54and professional life. That said he did it once.
- 26:58I firmly, truly, genuinely believe that.
- 27:01And he was coming back off an elbow injury and obviously
- 27:05really close friends with Roger at the time.
- 27:07And that kind of obviously fell apart based upon things that
- 27:11transpired. But that's neither here nor
- 27:13there. But this should have been done a
- 27:15long time ago. And when it came out, I was
- 27:18thinking to myself, so do you create another, I guess you call
- 27:23it a category or what have you, where now it's like, OK, we have
- 27:26to do this for the steroid era and these guys that got in and
- 27:31do we take that into account? So that'll be interesting to see
- 27:34how that happens. Obviously, they added the
- 27:37committee vote, like Lee Smith not getting in, being one of the
- 27:41first guys to get over 400 saves and then having to get in on
- 27:44committee vote. I don't know how they feel about
- 27:46that. Obviously not being voted in by
- 27:48the writers, which who gives a shit honestly.
- 27:51So I, it'll be interesting to see how this will transpire or
- 27:56if it'll move forward to those guys that are deserving to be
- 27:58it, that are basically, we can kind of use a social media term
- 28:03like shadow band of like, oh, just because you did this,
- 28:06you're not in when these some of the guys were hall of farmers
- 28:10before that era even came to fruition.
- 28:13And how about George Steinbrenner?
- 28:14When? When's he going in?
- 28:16I don't understand how a guy like that who?
- 28:18Saved. They hold it against him for
- 28:21what he did with Winfield. Well, guess what?
- 28:24He did a lot more. Than the biggest giving him the
- 28:26biggest contractor. And by the way, if you ask and
- 28:30if you ask Dave Winfield and by the way, if you know the story,
- 28:34when when Steinbrenner was on his deathbed, who went to visit
- 28:38him, who was there at his bed when he was practically almost
- 28:43dead, It was Dave Winfield. So Dave Winfield actually came
- 28:47out. He was one of the guys, him and
- 28:48Reggie Jackson were two of the last people that got a chance to
- 28:51say goodbye to George Steinbrenner.
- 28:53So what does that tell you about George Steinbrenner and how
- 28:55close he was with the players after everything happened?
- 28:59So I I think it's despicable, but ceiling why is he in all?
- 29:03Of you. I just think they always have
- 29:04held that against him and they suspended him.
- 29:07It wasn't like he was contrite about it.
- 29:09You know, it's, it's just something I think and Speedy I,
- 29:13I don't know if you, I mean, you're more of our analytics
- 29:16guy. You ever look at Shoeless Joe's
- 29:18stats? I think I did at the time of the
- 29:21movie. I don't think I have since then,
- 29:23but yeah, it definitely. Stupid.
- 29:25It definitely is Hall of Fame worth it.
- 29:28And again, it's a sport full of controversy as it is, so you
- 29:32can't nitpick on certain controversies and make it seem
- 29:36like it's a big deal. Because I obviously you, if you
- 29:38watch the movie, you could tell that there were some pictures
- 29:41that were in on it. There were some position players
- 29:42that were obviously tanking. If they're part of the scheme,
- 29:44OK, that's different. But there's some that we're
- 29:46actually trying to hide it because it was mostly ownership
- 29:48driven. So I like Jabba was saying,
- 29:50might be 4 or five of those guys, especially including
- 29:52Shoeless Joe Jackson to get into that.
- 29:54I am a legend. And now with Pete Rose,
- 29:56especially now that MLB is advocating for betting sites, I
- 30:01mean, any people can bet on baseball in certain states that
- 30:03are legal with it now. Like you can't all of a sudden
- 30:06just take five years where Pete Rose, Oh, now we're discussing
- 30:10Hall of Fame eligibility and then two months later he passes
- 30:12away. So and then all of a sudden
- 30:14they're accepting of the family members talking to him.
- 30:17It's just a really bad process. It's a hypocritical league that
- 30:20it's always been going through. We've talked about it with the
- 30:22organization, the Hall of Fame organization all the time too.
- 30:25And it's just a sport full of controversy, like.
- 30:27It's part of your history. Well, not, not only did they
- 30:31talk to him, they like sent letters and, and did a bunch of
- 30:35other stuff. And I just, I think he kind of
- 30:38made his, his own bed and was stuck in his own way, which kind
- 30:42of, I think kind of detoured it a little bit based upon what I
- 30:46know and from experience and talking to guys that had some
- 30:51inside knowledge on it. But when it comes down to it, or
- 30:55I think what happens to you because there is such a
- 31:00humanistic vote on these things that some people take that into
- 31:05effect where it's like you see some of these guys not getting
- 31:09100% votes that are are first ballot Hall of Farmers.
- 31:13And we've only. And if you think about all the
- 31:15amazing players we've had that are first ballot, no brainers
- 31:21and we've had one and we got idiots that are still out here
- 31:25like, oh, I didn't vote for Derek Jeter because I thought he
- 31:30was already in. Ichiro doesn't get 100%.
- 31:34I mean, guys that 100% played in the era that didn't even come
- 31:38close to, you know, 95%. And when you get that human
- 31:44dynamic into it, I think that really plays a part in certain
- 31:48things because they can't put that other stuff aside and just
- 31:51be like, hey, let me specifically look at numbers and
- 31:54what those are. And like I said, it'll be
- 31:57interesting to see if they if this gets legs on the other side
- 32:02of like, OK, now at IA, 100% agree.
- 32:06Shut up, shut up. Butt plug bagel hole and butt
- 32:15plug bagel hole. Is a great punk rock band name.
- 32:19Yum, Yum. Yeah, So it it'll be, it'll be
- 32:21interesting to see. And I just hate.
- 32:25Why are they waiting so long? Yeah, it's.
- 32:28Interesting, why are they waiting till the committee
- 32:32meets? Like you're act like you got.
- 32:34You've already created the committee.
- 32:35They already know it. This already got approved.
- 32:39Why are you waiting 2 1/2 years? A lot of hot ladies, the 28 Hall
- 32:45of Fame class that that, that doesn't make sense.
- 32:49This makes sense to me that they reinstated it, but it doesn't
- 32:52make sense to me that they're waiting till 2027.
- 32:54Interesting. All right, let's move on to our
- 32:59our the captain of the New York Yankees.
- 33:01Yup, Aaron Judge, 43 games through the season.
- 33:06Here's the stats. 412 batting average, 15 home runs to lead
- 33:11Major League Baseball. Obviously 412 leads to the
- 33:15league as well. Forty runs, 41 RB is an OPS of
- 33:201.279, a four point O WAR with 43 games.
- 33:25So he's on pace for like just like around 15 plus WAR and he's
- 33:29got a WRC plus A 252. Barry Bonds 244 is the all time
- 33:35record at the end of the season. It's hard to even put into words
- 33:41at this point, but I guess let's let's all try in a different
- 33:45way. So Speedy, I'm going to go
- 33:47backwards. I want you to tell me what is
- 33:49the most impressive stat you think.
- 33:52You're asking a Met fan. All.
- 33:57The stats, it has to be the WRC because that's supposed to be
- 34:02like everyone's saying, oh the Yankees get away with stuff
- 34:05because they hit in Yankee Stadium.
- 34:06Meanwhile that's supposed to neutralize the ballparks.
- 34:08That's supposed to neutralize like the most consistent league
- 34:11factors to go along with it. If you're saying Barry Bonds is
- 34:14244 of a single season is the all time record and probably
- 34:18similar to some great hitters career numbers, 20 points up, 30
- 34:23points up from that, like that has to be the most impressive 1.
- 34:26Obviously the WAR is going to fluctuate over the time of the
- 34:28year. When Ryan Spader's been on our
- 34:30show, he's discussed that sometimes they change the way
- 34:32the metrics work with that, but WRC is going to be a constant
- 34:35thing than any any type of plus stat is always a big boost to
- 34:39any top end player like that. Errol, what do you think he
- 34:44finishes at this year? I want him to finish at 400.
- 34:48Everybody has said that. Nobody since Ted Williams will
- 34:51ever end up with 400 or more at, at the batting average, but he's
- 34:56doing something that we haven't seen in a very, very long time.
- 34:59I, I think it's very, it's incredible.
- 35:00And you could pick any stat, every single stat on that list.
- 35:04He's he's definitely the Triple Crown winner.
- 35:06If it continues moving forward with the numbers that he has,
- 35:10it's incredible. Because me and Jabba, what was
- 35:12it a couple of months ago arguing who's the best player
- 35:15right now in baseball? He had Otani and I had Judge.
- 35:18I don't think there's an argument right now on what Aaron
- 35:20Judge is doing over the last three years, comparison to
- 35:24Otani, who's been one of the best players in the league.
- 35:26If you compare all these guys numbers are the top players,
- 35:29even Mike Trout over the last 10 years, nobody's done what Aaron
- 35:33Judge has done in the last three years.
- 35:34It's it's incredible what he's putting up right now and he's
- 35:38clean. As far as what we know, he's
- 35:39clean. He's a clean player.
- 35:41So he's big, 6 foot 85 tool player, a guy that didn't get
- 35:46called up by the New York Yankees until he was 2425 years
- 35:49old and now didn't take the the most money he could.
- 35:52He could have taken $500 million.
- 35:55He is by far better than Juan Soto or any of these guys that
- 35:59got the money that they got, even Shay Otani, but he took
- 36:02less. He took 300 and what, 89 or
- 36:05$390,000,000 to stay with the Yankees because he wants to be a
- 36:09Yankee. He wants to win with the
- 36:10Yankees. It's an incredible story.
- 36:13He's a great kid. Any I've never met him, but
- 36:16anybody that's told me who's met him, even Nick Goody tells me
- 36:20not only is he a good kid, he stands for what you want a
- 36:24Yankee to stand for as a captain, as a face of baseball.
- 36:27He's everything you want. And and that's what you expect
- 36:30from a captain of arguably the greatest franchise in in
- 36:33professional sports history. I love it.
- 36:36He's such a he's, he's such a Good Samaritan too.
- 36:39I love what he's doing right now for baseball and he he has your
- 36:42eyes locked in win or lose with the New York Yankees is what is
- 36:46Aaron Judge putting up every single game.
- 36:49So it's fun to watch. Jabba what?
- 36:53What's it like to play with somebody who's on a heater like
- 36:57this? Like obviously this is historic
- 37:00what he's doing, but like when a guy's getting like going, just
- 37:03like everything drops in, everything's like a great barrel
- 37:08on it up or on the other side of the mound, you know, just you're
- 37:12hitting your spots every single time.
- 37:14There's so much movement. It's like you surprising
- 37:16yourself, like when you play with someone like that or I
- 37:19mean, when you've had those times as well.
- 37:22But like when someone's on a heater, like what's it like
- 37:24being around them? What's it like, you know, when
- 37:27you're like that? And you know, how did people
- 37:29treat you in those situations? You just let them go.
- 37:33You don't really do anything. You kind of just let him because
- 37:38I did obviously whatever they're doing work in.
- 37:41If you know, he decided to eat a peanut butter and spam sandwich
- 37:45and get it to him every day, like you just don't, you don't
- 37:48change it up. And you as a player and baseball
- 37:50players are superstitious as it comes that they you know, they
- 37:55eat the same thing, they do the same thing.
- 37:57And it's just so fun to watch because you just you expect it.
- 38:02It it's weird because you then expect like them to always get a
- 38:06hit come through and like when you then you're surprised.
- 38:09Usually it's the other way around.
- 38:11But I think what's more impressive too is like obviously
- 38:13almost two months into the season, still be hitting over
- 38:16400, which is impressive. His WRC, which has now become a
- 38:21huge conglomerate in the game of baseball.
- 38:24But if you look at his last 62 or 162 games, he's hitting over
- 38:28360 with 65 homers and over 140 RBI's.
- 38:32And just to carry that over and, and continue to, and it wasn't
- 38:38like it was just one year. It's like, you know, he had an
- 38:41offseason and then he gets in his own head or, you know, so
- 38:45many things can happen, right? And for him to just continue to
- 38:50do it. I I think what the most
- 38:51impressive thing is, is how he handles himself first and
- 38:55foremost with all the attention. And I think it's almost, I think
- 39:00he's like the second or third longest to carry a 400 plus
- 39:04batting average to start a season.
- 39:06And do I think it's realistic to hit 400?
- 39:11No. Do I think he'll get close?
- 39:16He'll be he'll end the year at 360 ish if he continues the way
- 39:24that he's going. But then it just also there's.
- 39:27If he does that, it's the greatest, one of the greatest
- 39:29seasons of all time if he does that.
- 39:31Yeah, and it depends. I I had this argument with, with
- 39:33all the fans and, and stuff on X Twitter, whatever you guys call
- 39:37it. And it was like, what's his
- 39:39number? Because when he hit 62, I
- 39:42predicted it. And you know, we had that
- 39:45conversation because I was like, realistically, what do you think
- 39:47you got? Like, is he going to continue
- 39:50this pace? Is he going and and everybody
- 39:53goes through slumps. Nobody is going to if he if he
- 39:57does this all year and hits four O 8 with 65 and 100 and it's
- 40:01it's the greatest season ever. But is that realistic?
- 40:04No, it's not. And you know, he's he's going to
- 40:08get his strikeouts. He's had three strikeout games
- 40:11and you know, his average felt like 380, but then he goes 3 for
- 40:14four. He goes 3 for three.
- 40:17And he's just, he hasn't fell into that like slump he's had.
- 40:22He's had some off games, but what he's been, and this is one
- 40:27thing why he didn't get up as early as a lot of people thought
- 40:31he would was because his plate's on discipline and the things
- 40:35that he was doing. But he's become such a better
- 40:37hitter and he's 33 years old right now and he's continually
- 40:41got better. Hey Jabba, do you know what his
- 40:43strikeout percentage is this year?
- 40:45It's his best ever, by a lot. That's that's that was exactly
- 40:49my point is like he can one. Percent.
- 40:51This yeah. And he continues to get better
- 40:53with his strike zone discipline of not swinging balls out of the
- 40:57zone. And you know, it's just tough.
- 41:00He's he's going to, he's going to get the Barry Bonds
- 41:02treatment. And I remember a great story.
- 41:06Well, I can't remember who was telling it, but he got like 8
- 41:08pitches to hit and got walked like 7 time, intentionally
- 41:13walked seven times and he hit five home runs and he literally
- 41:16got like 7 or 8 pitches to hit. And so he's going to get, he's
- 41:20going to start getting that treatment and he's not going to
- 41:23miss him. And he hasn't been missing him.
- 41:25And I think that's just a kudos to him in understanding parts of
- 41:29his game where as he's gotten older, he's gotten better.
- 41:35And I I understand early on in your career where you know, not
- 41:38a lot of people know you and you know, you have those hot years.
- 41:41But I'm so impressed with him, not only from and and I didn't
- 41:46get to know him. I actually was fortunate enough
- 41:47when I was rehabbing my elbow, one of my rehab guys was
- 41:52actually a Fresno State with him and they were like, he was
- 41:55always that guy. He always worked hard you.
- 41:58He was always the biggest dude. I mean, he won the College World
- 42:02Series, Home Run Derby and so everybody knew who he was and
- 42:05just obviously at stature wise you're gonna know who.
- 42:09But for me, the most impressive thing is to see how he's not
- 42:12rested on his laurels like when he got the contract.
- 42:15He's continued to get better. And for somebody like that, and
- 42:19especially with the eyes on him that are like, if this is
- 42:23happening, and no disrespect to the smaller market teams by any
- 42:26means, and I don't mean it this way, but if this is, and I say
- 42:30the same thing for myself because if I did what I did in
- 42:32Milwaukee, nobody would have cared.
- 42:34But I did it in the biggest media market in the world.
- 42:36And he continues to do it and he continues to get better and
- 42:39handles himself in such professional manner and being
- 42:42what it is, where like Errol said, he could have gone and got
- 42:46more money, but he knew the importance of what it was and
- 42:50obviously the opportunities that New York creates.
- 42:53But yet he continues to get better and better every year in
- 42:57certain areas of his game. And there's certain areas where
- 43:00he he didn't excel at that year. And now, like you just said,
- 43:0421%, that's his best yet. And he's been in the big leagues
- 43:08for how many years, folks? And he's 33 years old.
- 43:12It's not like, you know, he's Sodo and came in when he was 20
- 43:16years old. He's been in the big leagues for
- 43:19over 7 years and he continuously gets better and that's the thing
- 43:24that I just respect the crap out of him for, of finding little
- 43:29holes in his game that he can become.
- 43:32Wasn't a great outfielder at first.
- 43:34What did he do? He worked at it and he did the
- 43:38things that he did, the small things to make his game
- 43:41complete. You know, he's never going to be
- 43:44a, you know, A50 stolen base guy, but he's going to get you
- 43:4915 and he still has the threat to be able to steal a base when
- 43:53need be. And I just he, he's so fun to
- 43:56watch. He it's, he's one of those guys
- 44:00like even if you're not a Yankees fan and there's not a
- 44:03lot, it's either you hate them or love them one way or the
- 44:05other. But he's one of those guys it's
- 44:07hard not to root for just because of the way he carries
- 44:10himself and how he's made his. Game is a Yankee 6 foot 8 and
- 44:14he's. He's made the game of baseball
- 44:16fun, feel like a machine when you got guys literally like that
- 44:21don't talk baseball and they're they're cutting in on an event.
- 44:26It was some was it conference championship of football or
- 44:30whatever. They're cutting in to see if
- 44:32he's going to break the record and hit a home run like that.
- 44:35You're doing something. This this dude is special and I
- 44:39I wish he can stay healthy. He's had some weird freak
- 44:41injuries getting hit on the hand his.
- 44:44Toe Not for the last two years. I mean, except the toll he's
- 44:48been, he's been pretty damn good and he's played consistently and
- 44:52that's what you want to see. What's your best player so.
- 44:54All right, let's let's move on in the inside baseball and we're
- 44:58going to get to the injury report, Couple of ones I'm just
- 45:01going to mention and some guys coming back, Roki Sasaki, the
- 45:06big import from Japan. Bust.
- 45:10It's a flamethrower. Not only bust, but damaged
- 45:14goods. It looks like his shoulder might
- 45:16be shot. They were saying that they were.
- 45:19He was having arm trouble last year.
- 45:21He didn't have a great seat season coming over, at least to
- 45:25his standards. The velocity dip, Jabba.
- 45:29And that's when you know, so we had that one and I just kind of
- 45:34wanted you to touch on that because you mentioned that
- 45:36before, Jabba. You know, when that's kind of
- 45:39the real indicator of something going wrong.
- 45:42Yeah, and it's it's tough because it and it's weird to
- 45:47like and shout out to AL's Waldo and his I know the feeling.
- 45:53Hopefully he gets better quick and and, you know, gets that all
- 45:57all situated. That was kind of gruesome, that
- 45:59slide in the home plate. But these like when they do like
- 46:03shoulder impingement and you know, we're going to touch on
- 46:06another one in Tanner and a extra strain.
- 46:08Like we, we all know, we've all heard these things and you know,
- 46:13we all saw the injury at home plate and they, they put them on
- 46:16the 10 dev just put them on the 60 day.
- 46:18It's all literally roster moves and how they're going to do it.
- 46:22And I get the insurance and outs of that too.
- 46:24Why they just say 10? Because if you put them on the
- 46:2660 day, then you can bring a guy up from the 40 man.
- 46:29Who would they bring up? Don't know, obviously getting DJ
- 46:32back in those things. But with Rokie, it's just it's
- 46:37different because their workloads are completely
- 46:39different in the States than they are in Japan because
- 46:42they're once a week guys in Japan.
- 46:45And now it's it's different because they're throwing their
- 46:48bullpens earlier. They may get an extra day, but
- 46:53it's it's not the workload that they're used to and how they
- 46:57have prepared themselves for, you know, the big leagues.
- 47:01Obviously they got over here for a reason and talented arm.
- 47:04But now once you completely change up your routine, it's
- 47:09hard to adjust, especially coming into the expectations and
- 47:14things of that nature where that's something a lot of people
- 47:17don't think about, where he's coming in with all of these
- 47:22standards of what he did in Japan.
- 47:24Well, we've seen how it's worked for some guys, it hasn't worked
- 47:28for others. And you see, like when Dice K
- 47:32came in and he'd invented the Gyro Ball, you're like, it's
- 47:35just an inverted like, what did he talk about?
- 47:38Like? It was like a slurp known
- 47:40before. That's what it was.
- 47:41It was like a slurp. But it was opposite because he
- 47:44just extra pronated. It's like it's like the, I hate
- 47:48to even mention it, but it's like the Airbender with Devin
- 47:51Williams. Like just no, it's it's just a
- 47:53really inverted change up. Like it's not like this hasn't
- 47:56been thrown before. Yeah, it's just different.
- 47:59Type of change up. So it just when it says
- 48:03impingement, I mean, that could be labrum, that could be rotator
- 48:06cuff, that could be scap, it could be numerous things.
- 48:10And you don't really know until it comes, comes out of of what
- 48:15the MRI says. And if he gets an Arthur Graham
- 48:17to see if you know there is a 10 and you could, you could MRI
- 48:21every pitcher and, and mostly probably everybody that's ever
- 48:24played sports. And there's something wrong with
- 48:26the shoulder just from basketball players and doing
- 48:29overhead motion stuff, weight lifters where you know, you're
- 48:33labrums, a little piece of like tissue that is in between the
- 48:38ball and socket joint that just from use it.
- 48:42There's going to be fray, there's going to it's just going
- 48:44to happen. So to, to what extent is it like
- 48:48I went on the DL in O 8 for the same thing and mine, mine was
- 48:5240% torn, but I missed two starts and that was it.
- 48:56So some people handle it better than others, but it'll, I don't
- 49:01think this will just be a 15 day.
- 49:02It it, it'll be at least a month like I maybe even more to be
- 49:06honest with you. All right, let's go to Errol.
- 49:11I'm going to go speedy. I'm going to come back to you in
- 49:13a second. I want to ask you about Tanner
- 49:14Hawk a little bit and she's somebody that's a little real
- 49:19sneaky, underrated player in the league.
- 49:21But Errol, the Braves are getting Acuna and Strider back
- 49:25real soon. Acuna is up at AAA in the last
- 49:27phase of his rehab right now. He did apologize to manager
- 49:32Brian Snitker for, you know, the comment about Kelnick not
- 49:36running and how he if it was him, he would have been benched.
- 49:40He said he was sorry. He's very contrite.
- 49:42Seems like they're all good. What is this?
- 49:45We know that NL East is a big time division and the Braves
- 49:50come back with these two guys. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 49:54I, I don't know if it's going to fix management and obviously
- 49:59Acuna. Acuna is a great player.
- 50:01If, if, if anything, it, it does help him come back so we can get
- 50:05back on the field and hopefully it'll, if he's playing good
- 50:08baseball and he and, and he's doing what he's supposed to be
- 50:10doing on the baseball field, nobody's going to worry about
- 50:13what he said about the manager. Nobody's going to worry about it
- 50:16because it's all about winning. Schrider is so very important to
- 50:19that, that pitching staff. He's one of the best, most
- 50:21dynamic young pitchers in baseball.
- 50:23So he adds A dynamic to that roster and that rotation.
- 50:27So he's going to play a big part.
- 50:28Why couldn't they come back? We've seen the Braves in the
- 50:31second-half completely dominate over the years.
- 50:34They got a tremendous amount of young talent on that roster.
- 50:37You had a pitcher that good and you had a a player in the lineup
- 50:41that can, you know, do you know, play lead off, play at lead off.
- 50:45I don't know if he's going to be a good outfielder if he's ever
- 50:47going to play in the outfield again at at the top of his game,
- 50:50but he is a tremendous hitter and I, I hopefully he stays away
- 50:54from stealing bases. Now he needs to protect himself.
- 50:56But they are dynamic. Both players are dynamic.
- 50:59One at the on the rotation and he's probably as good as any
- 51:04pitcher and young pitcher in baseball and the other guy
- 51:07dynamic. This guy was an MVP, the MVP
- 51:10candidate for what, the past five years when he's in the
- 51:13lineup? So 2 dynamic plays absolutely
- 51:16can come back and be a scary, scary team if these guys come
- 51:21back at the top of their games. Yeah, for sure as Strider,
- 51:26someone that I've been following since the first game for the
- 51:28league, Kunya, we'll see if he can come back.
- 51:31I don't think he's going to run as much.
- 51:32He doesn't have to. After those leg injuries, but
- 51:36he's still going to be very good players speeding.
- 51:39What does Tanner help mean to that?
- 51:41That staff over there. Yeah, it definitely looked off
- 51:46at the start of the year and a lot and a lot, a lot of big like
- 51:48dogs when he's had dogs this year.
- 51:51And I think for somebody that has a lot of good pitching,
- 51:54Arsenal has a good strikeout rate in previous years, you
- 51:56would think this would be the uptick.
- 51:58Obviously Crochet got all the hype with the the trade in the
- 52:00offseason and they have other good youngsters too, but a lot
- 52:02of them were hurt. So it was thought that maybe he
- 52:05was going to be the kind of that second guy to be like a 2A type
- 52:08thing in that rotation while those guys were hurt, but has
- 52:11not been the same. And now you're kind of seeing
- 52:13why a lot of this stuff has regressed this year.
- 52:15But again, there's still weather in the storm at the time being.
- 52:17There's a lot of mediocrity in the American League right now.
- 52:19So there's still a lot of time for them to rally back.
- 52:23Well, especially, especially in the East, there's only one team
- 52:25above 500, and that's the Yankees.
- 52:27Yeah. The just commenting on what you
- 52:30said before, Errol Braves are actually 500.
- 52:33They got to 500 today after the how they started.
- 52:37That kind of gives you a little bit of a heads up, you know, six
- 52:41games now behind the Mets, 3 1/2 behind the Phillies.
- 52:45And you know the Mets and you know the Mets are going to
- 52:48eventually hit a skid, but they're going to lose night out
- 52:52of a 12 games. I, I don't and I'm I'm not a met
- 52:55hater. I actually root on the Mets.
- 52:57I want the Mets to play well. They're not no threat to the
- 53:00Yankees. I could care less, but I
- 53:02eventually they're going to hit a skid and I, I do believe it's
- 53:05going to happen in the second-half of the season.
- 53:07I don't trust they're pitching the Braves.
- 53:09If Strider comes back, they could be scary.
- 53:13That rotation could be scary. Which Strider in the lead guy
- 53:17over there on that rotation, he doesn't even have to pitch 5 1/2
- 53:20innings and he's still dangerous even 2 times around the route,
- 53:24you know, a line up. I I think the Braves absolutely
- 53:27with the talent that they have, could, could be, I don't know if
- 53:31they're the number one seed in the, in the American, I mean in
- 53:34National League East, but they're right there.
- 53:36They can compete against any of those teams.
- 53:39Both will be back. Strider, they said he's going to
- 53:42pitch sometime middle of the week this week.
- 53:44He's he's not going to take another rehab start.
- 53:47He did a simulated game through 65 pitches.
- 53:49So he'll probably be limited in his first start back, but he's
- 53:53going to be back and Acuna is a AAA probably end of the week for
- 53:56Acuna as well. They're going to be back.
- 53:59Schrider's not going to lose a game for the rest of the season,
- 54:02Mark my words. That guy does.
- 54:04The team hopes that guy is. We're going to get into some
- 54:09highlights and this was a great ejection, one of the best that
- 54:14I've seen in a while. Tori Levolo, who before he got
- 54:18back into Major League Baseball and became a manager of the
- 54:20year, he's coaching right around the corner by me, by the
- 54:23Rockland Boulders over here in Rockland County and was really
- 54:27great there. So take a look at this.
- 54:29There's some. Weird, like the shortstop gets
- 54:33in the way of the base runner. They don't call it.
- 54:36He loses his mind. He gets ejected.
- 54:38He throws each one of them out one by one himself, You know, in
- 54:45revenge, you know, you ever revenge throw out like, no,
- 54:48you're, you're fired. No, you're fired.
- 54:51And they want to take this away from baseball?
- 54:54They're idiots. This.
- 54:55Is so fun to watch. I had this argument too.
- 54:57Like I like, I love that. Like there have been times where
- 55:01we've been in a game and it's, you know, it's not cutting time
- 55:05and where your coach sticks up for you and it lights a fire and
- 55:11then you end up coming back. I can think of 3 or 4 right off
- 55:15the top of my head that I've actually been personally in
- 55:18where you're like, all right, I see this going and you know, it
- 55:23was that it was the call against Dominguez the other day and
- 55:27Boone gets thrown and 100% right because the inning before he
- 55:33literally didn't give the same pitch.
- 55:36And the the crappy part about all of this is their egos are
- 55:42and I went off, I went off on Twitter and I was like, I get
- 55:47the human element of it and I get ABS is coming in and all the
- 55:51other stuff. But I love a good argument.
- 55:54I love it because it can help a team in so many different ways.
- 55:57And I was fortunate enough and like I said, to play for guys
- 56:02that stuck up for their team and they were players.
- 56:06They understood the game and what that means in certain
- 56:09situations where it can get you going.
- 56:11There are somewhere it can kind of backfire, but when you see
- 56:15these and it's, it's like, all right, he has our back.
- 56:18He's sticking up for us. It's not just like, oh, he's
- 56:21just doing it just to do it. No, he's protecting us.
- 56:25He's sticking up for us. And when you go out there and
- 56:28you see the passion that they have, it's just not a robot
- 56:31being a manager listening to the front office or doing this and
- 56:34you know you're going to get ran because as soon as this came,
- 56:37you can't question umpire, you're going to get thrown out.
- 56:40But then when they start barking back at you, one thing that I
- 56:44really wish they would do, but their union is really, really
- 56:47strong be held accountable. They all get recordings of their
- 56:53games like go watch it. Like if I ask you just to go
- 56:57look at these pitches, Don't just take your check and go
- 57:00home. Greatest one ever is Wally back
- 57:02then. Yes, that is 100% right.
- 57:05How he how he throws the rosin bag and gets it right where it
- 57:09is. There's no, it couldn't be
- 57:11anybody, but like just be accountable.
- 57:14Like I get you're going to mess up IA 100% going to get it, but
- 57:20you've got to have some accountability where it's just
- 57:26we have to answer questions when we screw up.
- 57:29You're just as much a part of the game as we are.
- 57:32Some of you think you're a bigger part of the game than the
- 57:35damn game itself. Yeah, one of them just retired
- 57:38like that. No, Mr. Angel.
- 57:41Mr. Angel himself. Oh God.
- 57:43I mean, love the arms that make the sound effects that you can
- 57:47hear audibly like, oh God. And then like they do like some
- 57:52kind of Chuck. Noise.
- 57:52I need a gin and tonic. I don't remember who it was and
- 57:56I remember there wasn't a fire there.
- 57:58What I need? What?
- 57:58He called the strike you. It's like strike you.
- 58:00When I'm listening, I'm thinking about Angel.
- 58:02OK. That was Jim Joyce that.
- 58:04Was Jim Joyce OK all? Right.
- 58:07So I got one more highlight. I'll get an actual play and this
- 58:10one. This was pretty crazy.
- 58:13This is why. Smell my ass to.
- 58:14Run over and help your fellow outfielder if the ball is not
- 58:19going to you because this is what happened in the Tigers
- 58:22Boston game. We have a deep fly ball.
- 58:24The right field outfielder goes and brings it back, doesn't
- 58:28catch it, bounces it back to the center fielder who catches it
- 58:31of. Course it had something to do
- 58:32with Boston. Work together to prevent a home
- 58:36run. I don't know if I ever saw that
- 58:38one. Here's No, I don't think so.
- 58:41It hits him in the glove, but since he was covering for him,
- 58:44he was right there. And you think that was planned?
- 58:48Avoid him too. He was that was not planned.
- 58:50That bounced out of his glove. I'm.
- 58:52Just saying. He was saying This is why you go
- 58:55and and back up your outfielder. I've seen it, I've seen it.
- 58:59It's A tag team play. Right.
- 59:01I've seen it once. I've seen it happen where like a
- 59:05line drive like. I'm not doing a for your tag
- 59:08team. Once in person, it was a line
- 59:12drive that hit off a shoe that didn't hit the ground and went
- 59:17to the third baseman. They got a double play.
- 59:18That's the only one I've ever seen in person.
- 59:21I've obviously seen since then. Yeah, I feel like.
- 59:23It's yeah, I mean, yeah, but those ones you don't see very
- 59:27often. There's there's some you see
- 59:28where, you know, it's a diving thing and he catches, flops up
- 59:33and then the outfielder comes from the infielder going out to
- 59:36the outfield and then coming in. So that's that's credit that
- 59:41that's the things that people don't understand about the game
- 59:44is he's doing his job. He's attacking the baseball.
- 59:48But OK, so say he misses it hits off the wall, he goes against
- 59:51the wall, but at least he's there, you know, to be able to
- 59:54either keep him to a double or not extend, you know, an extra
- 59:58base. And those are the little things
- 1:00:00that people don't see that don't respect.
- 1:00:02Yeah, that turned out great. But even if it didn't, he was
- 1:00:05right there and didn't catch it, he would still be able to get
- 1:00:07the ball in in. You know, that's, that's just
- 1:00:10the little things in baseball that I love that a lot of
- 1:00:12people, you know, don't recognize as a baseball play.
- 1:00:18And and that's that's why I love the game.
- 1:00:20I'm just. Going to finish off this
- 1:00:22baseball segment, I'm sorry, just letting it roll and we're
- 1:00:26going to take a look at these hot and cold teams, but let's
- 1:00:28get to speedy first before. We yeah, I was going.
- 1:00:30To say Keith Hernandez always brings up the fundies, that is
- 1:00:33broadcast for fun, those are all the little things like
- 1:00:35outfielders. You got to put your own.
- 1:00:37Territory, stuff like that, you don't usually see it like that,
- 1:00:39but Java, you're actually exactly, absolutely right.
- 1:00:41That's why you track it. You don't want to leave an
- 1:00:43isolated fielder like that. So the hottest team in all of
- 1:00:49baseball is the Minnesota Twins. I did not realize that that they
- 1:00:53were playing this well until I I saw this stat.
- 1:00:55They kept losing close ones in the beginning so it was bound to
- 1:00:58happen. Well, maybe it's positive
- 1:01:00regression, but 10 game heaters, 10 game heater, they're right
- 1:01:04back into the thick of things in the Central.
- 1:01:07Cleveland's been playing really well in the Central, but you
- 1:01:10know, they don't really even have much of AI, think they
- 1:01:13still have a negative run differential.
- 1:01:15So again, a lot of close games. That usually means we have a lot
- 1:01:19of teams that are around the same talent level all playing
- 1:01:22each other. It's going to be a slugfest in
- 1:01:23that. Division chicks with Dicks.
- 1:01:25All year and but Detroit seems to be really tough as well
- 1:01:29because they're eight and two and the Saint Louis Cardinals,
- 1:01:32guys, we said this earlier in the year, you know, Nolan
- 1:01:35Arenado, someone everyone wanted and guess what?
- 1:01:38Saint Louis wants them too. And they might be doing some
- 1:01:41things. A couple of good young players
- 1:01:43over there. Lars New Bar, who would play for
- 1:01:46Japan in the last Baseball Classic.
- 1:01:49I believe he's their lead off hitter.
- 1:01:52He's starting to come into his own.
- 1:01:54Mason Wynn is their hot, is their top shortstop prospect
- 1:01:57who's now recently started heating up as well.
- 1:02:01He's someone I've been paying attention to for a while.
- 1:02:03Where's goodie when you need him, by the way?
- 1:02:05Well, how are the Reds doing? Yeah, I figured that's what I.
- 1:02:08Am it's not the same team. Cincinnati, What are you talking
- 1:02:12about? I'm talking it's.
- 1:02:13Going to get cold for them to get hot.
- 1:02:15I was still talking hot, but cold.
- 1:02:17Well, we know the Rockies are going.
- 1:02:18To be honest, I just, I wish Goody was here because I'd like
- 1:02:21to shove that down his throat. Mr. Terry, do we just do a
- 1:02:24permanent list of like when we do?
- 1:02:26The cold teams, they're horrible.
- 1:02:28Just like, leave them on there. Straight.
- 1:02:30Down Cincinnati to stay there, but the Orioles, I mean.
- 1:02:33What is this love fest for Cincinnati?
- 1:02:36I'm just telling you guys, I I don't think Cincinnati's that
- 1:02:40good. The Orioles, I already told you
- 1:02:42what I thought they were. They lost Hunter Green, You know
- 1:02:44Hunter. One guy is not going to make you
- 1:02:47lose as many games as they had in a row.
- 1:02:49OK, come on, he was. Pitching like Garrett?
- 1:02:51Cole, it's one player that's once every five games.
- 1:02:55You think one pitch is going to change everything?
- 1:02:57Come on, man. If the Cincin.
- 1:02:59Is worth 6 war that means he's. Worth, all right?
- 1:03:01Garrett Cole's not part of this rotation and the Yankees are
- 1:03:04still winning, are they not? We don't know that.
- 1:03:10How do we know Garricko doesn't start the season golf?
- 1:03:12I'm. Saying that's the stats.
- 1:03:13That's how stats work, Errol. Well, screw the stats.
- 1:03:17Here's what I'm going to say. Cincinnati stinks.
- 1:03:20The Oreo stinks. Colorado stinks.
- 1:03:25They all freaking stink. They're horrible, and they're
- 1:03:28not going anywhere this year. Sell that platter that up and
- 1:03:32stick it in a box and send it to Speedy's mom.
- 1:03:35Right Speedy? How about?
- 1:03:37I will tell her not to accept any spam packages, would you?
- 1:03:40Stick a finger in his. Ass no fish.
- 1:03:42I think these like twins just won again today, So that's
- 1:03:45eleven in a row. Cardinals, Cardinals will be
- 1:03:49interesting. I think they'll be they'll be
- 1:03:52hot and cold. You just made my name Tigers.
- 1:03:54We predicted. I mean because obviously when
- 1:03:57you got Tark school going out and then I love job's arm like I
- 1:04:01pulled it out of my ass. He's going to be phenomenal and
- 1:04:06we've seen the reinsurgence of ABI Baez.
- 1:04:09Yep. I farted.
- 1:04:12Carpenter is a real good hitter too.
- 1:04:14Carrie Carpenter has been doing. Some bagel hole hitting.
- 1:04:17The top of the line up. Yeah, and he said, he said that
- 1:04:20he's hitting like 3 or 4 spots too.
- 1:04:23And it I think he's done a good job.
- 1:04:26And I'm I wasn't really sold on O when they when they signed
- 1:04:29him, but I think he's he's got a good feel of, of what the
- 1:04:35balance of his lineup is. Yum, Yum be able to move and
- 1:04:38take a little bit for as far as the cold teams.
- 1:04:41Like I said, we're going to the Rockies are going to be.
- 1:04:43I don't even think they're on pace for 40 wins this year.
- 1:04:46I don't think. I think the last thing I saw was
- 1:04:4938 or something like that. I don't the Reds will figure it
- 1:04:53out because they have Tito there and he's just one of the best
- 1:04:58managers that smell my ass around in a long time.
- 1:05:01The Orioles I and you can go back because I, I predicted the
- 1:05:05Orioles are going to be good because coming off a playoff
- 1:05:08with young kids and I and I knew they probably weren't going to
- 1:05:11go deep in the playoffs last year, But having that core guys
- 1:05:15come back and and know what it takes to get there.
- 1:05:17And and obviously they've been with the with the injury bug too
- 1:05:21and and there's guys and and they've got some really quality
- 1:05:24young arms. They just can't stay healthy.
- 1:05:27It's just I breaking news. Goody has no woody.
- 1:05:36Add the referencing under 200. I know, and that's.
- 1:05:39Guy, I mean they say his advanced stats, he should be
- 1:05:41hitting like the expected batting average like 280.
- 1:05:44And he's yeah with like the off the bat and all the other stuff.
- 1:05:49All that stuff. So, like, there's some hope, you
- 1:05:51know, a lot of positive regression.
- 1:05:53Westberg's been hurt. He's a good player.
- 1:05:56I think they'll find a way to bounce back.
- 1:05:58Will it be enough for them to get into the playoffs?
- 1:06:00I mean, they got to figure it out soon.
- 1:06:02I got to go back off now and. Now they lost Grayson Rodriguez,
- 1:06:06he was supposed to replace Corbin Burns need now they still
- 1:06:10have now they don't have a number one or #2 and a lot of
- 1:06:13the guys that they're they're hoping for aren't coming back to
- 1:06:15the middle of the season. I don't know if they're going to
- 1:06:17be able to get, you know, enough wins and do the math, although I
- 1:06:22expect them to be a good team by the end of the year.
- 1:06:24Joey bag of. Donuts over there.
- 1:06:27I think that's enough. I think arrows had enough of my
- 1:06:30statistics. My shenanigans here, I've got
- 1:06:35one for you. Butt plug.

- 1:07:35interview her. I'll, I'll stay away.
- 1:07:37OK. So maybe Jabba will, you know,
- 1:07:40do some interesting things. You just made my nipples hard.
- 1:07:43As long as she's using dude wipes and taking care of my 2
- 1:07:46hole I'm good. So she'll be, you know, taking
- 1:07:48care of her 2 hole. What do you think?
- 1:07:50Not happy. Pulled it out of my ass.
- 1:07:54All right, that's it for our show.
- 1:07:55We will be back on Monday with new guests and new content.
- 1:08:00Enjoy Friday's game. Hopefully the Knicks end the
- 1:08:04suffering of the Celtics and suffering for us as fans.
- 1:08:08I don't want to see them go to a Game 7 and I watch out.
- 1:08:12Pacers, OK, watch them out anyways, and the Nuggets 3/3 as
- 1:08:16we expected, it's going 7, so we'll see what happens over the
- 1:08:20weekend. That would be Saturday for the
- 1:08:23Nuggets and the OKC Thunder. So.
- 1:08:26So there's two more series left, one of them that's three to two
- 1:08:31and the other one's three to three.
- 1:08:32So we'll see what happens over the weekend.
- 1:08:34That's it. Good night.
- 1:08:35So long farewell. They'll come.
