- 0:00In the late 50s, a group of nine, Russian hikers went on a
- 0:03journey into the harsh and icy Wilderness of the Soviet Union.
- 0:09None of them would come back alive.
- 0:12This strange happening still haunts the minds of many.
- 0:15As the details surrounding their deaths are shrouded in mystery
- 0:19as thick as a blizzard. Join us as we follow the
- 0:23chilling events of the dyatlov pass incident here on mystery
- 0:28archives. It was January 25th 1959, when
- 1:00Igor dyatlov and the fellow members of his party arrived by
- 1:04train. And I've Del a town in the
- 1:07northern regions of the Soviet Union.
- 1:10After disembarking, they took a truck to Voi Che the last
- 1:13inhabited settlement so far, north.
- 1:17The group was composed of eight men and two women.
- 1:20Most of whom were students are graduates of your old
- 1:23polytechnical Institute. Their mission was to embark on a
- 1:2714-day expedition to reach or toward a summit in the icy
- 1:31Wilderness whose native name means dead Mountain.
- 1:35This expedition was classified as a category 3 which was
- 1:39considered the most difficult to complete and luckily all members
- 1:43were experienced and long ski hours and Mountain Expedition.
- 1:46Editions the group began hiking on January 27th, the next day.
- 1:51However, one of the members, Yuri, yudin was forced to turn
- 1:55back due to illness. You would have no idea that this
- 1:59would be the last time he sees companions among the living.
- 2:04The original plan of the dyatlov expedition was to send a
- 2:07telegram to their Sports Club when they return to vfc by the
- 2:1112th. However, dyatlov told Yuri yudin
- 2:15that he suspected. They would take longer when the
- 2:18date passed and no message had been sent there.
- 2:21There wasn't an immediate reaction since delays on
- 2:23missions like this or not uncommon.
- 2:26It was only after the families of the group demanded a rescue
- 2:29operation, that the first group of volunteers students and
- 2:32teachers went out on February the 20th later on, police, and
- 2:37military would become involved in the search.
- 2:40The discoveries that followed her.
- 2:42So strange, that rumbles of speculation remain to this
- 2:46present day. The total number of men who
- 2:49participated in the search amount of to 120, the search was
- 2:53made difficult on account of the fact that Igor had not filed,
- 2:56the proper map or the root documentation prior to the trip,
- 3:01on February 25th, the ski Trail was found and on the very next
- 3:05day, the 10th used by the dyatlov group, was discovered,
- 3:10the 10 was in shambles with none of the Hikers to be found and
- 3:14stranger. Still, the sides have been kind
- 3:17from the inside the official report stated the nature and
- 3:21form of all Cuts, suggest that they were formed by contact with
- 3:25the canvas, inside the tent with the blade of some weapon.
- 3:28Presumably a knife on the morning of the 27th.
- 3:33Rescuers found the bodies of Yuri doroshenko and uric acid.
- 3:37Fog machine go near a cedar tree with broken branches and the
- 3:41remains of a fire. The Searchers would discover the
- 3:44bodies of more hikers. The next day, including dyatlov
- 3:48himself, a fifth, hiker would be found on March, the 5th.
- 3:52And the remaining four would not be found until months later when
- 3:56the winter snow did thought of to review the bodies.
- 4:00Do it is tragic that these hikers lost their lives.
- 4:03The findings of the surgeon, autopsies of the bodies, have
- 4:06only served to deepen the mystery piecing.
- 4:10Together a potential Narrative of events from diary and journal
- 4:13entries, along with the evidence present near the campsite has
- 4:17yielded, the following the hikers, reach the mountain of
- 4:21khoya to cycle on the first of February, leaving a Depot of
- 4:25supplies near the foot of the slope.
- 4:28They ascended and set up camp as the weather conditions.
- 4:31Lowered visibility, something went horribly wrong on the 2nd
- 4:36and the middle of the night, the group cut, open the tent and
- 4:40Hike single-file downhill towards the woods and their
- 4:43pajamas and away from the supply cached, they left near the
- 4:47mountain once there. Some of them climbed up the
- 4:50trees, either to grab firewood or to try and spot the tent,
- 4:55some of them stayed to unsuccessfully start.
- 4:58A fire and others. Tried to walk back to the 10 and
- 5:01all eventually succumbed to hypothermia.
- 5:05Others move deeper into the forest, where they fell into a
- 5:08ravine, sustaining heavy injuries, and eventually dying
- 5:12as well. The events that led to their
- 5:15deaths is still unclear, what made the hikers?
- 5:18Leave the safety of their tent during a blizzard with little to
- 5:21no clothing and without panic The hikers were not exactly
- 5:25poorly armed. They had plenty of items like
- 5:28axes that they could have used for protection.
- 5:31The only thing that could have forced them out of the tent and
- 5:34into the dangers of the icy Wilderness would have been an
- 5:37immediate threat of death at the tent and an immediate threat of
- 5:41death that mere axes, or knives, couldn't have stopped.
- 5:45Why we're thick limbs broken off the cedar tree when dry branches
- 5:49were readily available for firewood and why was the fifth
- 5:53hiker found? With head trauma that can't be
- 5:55explained Away by accident or clumsiness.
- 5:59Why were some of the hikers articles of clothing found with
- 6:02radiation on them? Even after months of being
- 6:05exposed to water? Why did the pilots refused to
- 6:08airlift? The bodies out of the Ravine and
- 6:11why did the corner of lists? The cause of death?
- 6:13For the hikers, movie as a compelling, natural force of
- 6:17Unknown Origin. There are many theories
- 6:21postulated to explain the fate of the dyatlov group ranging
- 6:25from the bizarre to the unbelievable, the Abominable
- 6:28Snowman UFOs. And other Supernatural
- 6:32explanations. Have been put forward for the
- 6:34deaths of the hikers. A man in charge of the dyatlov
- 6:38pass investigation named live, Ivanov was forced to retract the
- 6:43statement he made. And 1959, his statement is the
- 6:48following We found that some of the young pine trees at the edge
- 6:51of the forest had burned marks. But those marks did not have a
- 6:56con eccentric form or some other pattern, there was no epicenter.
- 7:00This once again, confirmed that heated beams of a strong but
- 7:04completely unknown at least to us energy or directing their
- 7:08Firepower towards specific objects.
- 7:11And this case people acting selectively another theory, put
- 7:17forth by author Alexia track, eat suggested that the three of
- 7:21the hikers were KGB agents on a mission to uncover a cell of CIA
- 7:26agents when something went wrong and the CIA agents killed the
- 7:30group The Strange issues such as radioactivity on the clothing
- 7:35have led some Credence to this idea but have not impressed
- 7:38those who were the friends of the dyatlov hikers.
- 7:43One of the more accepted theories as that of katabatic.
- 7:46Wind also known as gravity went, this is a natural phenomena were
- 7:51high. Density are from higher.
- 7:52Elevation is carrying doubt, slopes by winds that can equal
- 7:56the force of a hurricane, the wind would have forced the
- 8:00hikers out of the tent with only a few seconds of warning, maybe
- 8:04they cut their way out. Piled snow on top of the tent
- 8:07and left a flashlight. On top of the site and calmly
- 8:10walk, downhill to the tree line. Away better conditions.
- 8:14Only dressed in their pajamas. They all would have succumbed to
- 8:17the elements. However, while this may explain
- 8:21some of the mystery, it does not cover all the questions.
- 8:25This Enigma poses, the mystery of what really happened to the
- 8:29detox. Love group in 1959 is still
- 8:32alive in the hearts and minds of many, who find their story
- 8:35tragic, and fascinating, the absence of certain answers
- 8:39within the investigation along with conflicting accounts On
- 8:42behalf of The Rescuers has sparked speculation, movies,
- 8:47books and TV shows of all attempted to give their own
- 8:51explanations both fact-based and Sensational.
- 8:55However, it is an important note that behind this Enigma is the
- 8:59very real loss of nine, human lives all.
- 9:02But one of the hikers died, in their early 20s with Simon sole
- 9:06author of being the oldest a 38, they all had dreams friends and
- 9:12Family they left behind on that fateful day.
- 9:15In February, we may never truly know what claimed the lives of
- 9:19these nine men and women but we can certainly keep their memory
- 9:22alive in the stories. We tell about the last entry in
- 9:26Igor dyatlov, his diary reads We're exhausted the starting to
- 9:32settle up for the night. Firewood is scarce must lead a,
- 9:38we build the campfire on the logs, too, tired to dig a fire
- 9:42pit. Dinners in the tent.
- 9:44Nice and warm, can't imagine such Comfort on the ridge, with
- 9:48howling wind outside. Hundreds of kilometers, away
- 9:52from human settlements, But what do you think?
- 9:58Has the dyatlov pass incident and solved or is there more to
- 10:02be discovered? Let me know down in the comments
