UAB Parking Deck Shooting Under Investigation | Birmingham News
A deadly confrontation unfolded at the UAB St. Vincent’s parking deck when a Birmingham police officer responded to a report of assault, pursued and Tasered a fleeing suspect — Matthew Sean Massey — who later died during a struggle. The officer, a seven-year veteran placed on administrative leave, discharged his weapon after Massey allegedly tried to seize the Taser. No one was injured on campus, and body cam footage will be released once the investigation is complete.
