A 47-year-old man, Matthew Hull, faces a serious charge of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Coalville on July 10, 2023. The collision involved his van and an 80-year-old driver, Peter Watts, who died three days later in the hospital. Emergency crews shut down the intersection for over seven hours. Hull, from Bedford, pleaded not guilty in November and recently appeared in court for a case management hearing, where his trial was officially set for February 1, 2027.
