Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:02
Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
• 0:06
where we left off with the Bill Gates testimony that
• 0:08
he gave to Congress. Asking the questions now is miss Randall?
• 0:14
Thank you, mister Gates. I'm Emily Randall from Washington sixth.
• 0:17
I appreciate you being here and answering our questions, and
• 0:20
I want to follow up a little bit on a
• 0:22
question that ranking Member Robert Garcia asked to begin with
• 0:26
about who the men were in Epstein's orbit that you
• 0:29
may have seen or engage with at any of these meetings,
• 0:32
and you said, you know that you didn't see anyone
• 0:34
engaging an illegal or I listed activities, and you didn't
• 0:38
want to cast dispersions of any of these men, which
• 0:41
I understand. But I think some of what we've seen
• 0:43
in our investigative work and in our conversations and in
• 0:47
the files is that, you know, it became very easy
• 0:49
for a lot of people to say that they didn't
• 0:51
see anything, and that's part of how he continued to
• 0:54
have such a long history of abuse. And so I
• 0:57
just want to ask you if there are any other
• 0:59
names or people that you haven't mentioned yet. You mentioned
• 1:03
doctor Nikolch, Larry Summers, Jess Daley, Leon Black, Josh Harris,
• 1:07
Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Pritzker were the other men that were involved,
• 1:11
maybe not necessarily men that he was trying to introduce
• 1:14
into the Global Health network. But folks in any of
• 1:17
these meetings that we should ask follow up questions on,
• 1:21
not saying that you're accusing them of anything, but to
• 1:23
make sure that we're uncovering every stone in this work
• 1:26
to find transparency and justice. Gates. Yeah, I believe that
• 1:30
today I mentioned the name of every single individual who
• 1:33
was in a meeting with myself and Epstein. And you know,
• 1:37
beyond that, you know all these emails released in January
• 1:40
have other names in there. I don't bring any personal
• 1:42
knowledge to that, but you know, I'm here to help
• 1:44
in any way I can. I can't think of anyone
• 1:47
whose name I haven't mentioned that I knew had some
• 1:50
relationship with Epstein. Miss Randall, thank you. And you know,
• 1:54
Miss Stansbury asked about the woman young woman who worked
• 1:57
for mister Epstein, and we've established that's some of these
• 2:00
women who were employed by him were also being trafficked
• 2:03
and abused. Whether you know, though he may not have
• 2:06
been your knowledge at the time, I understand. I do
• 2:09
want to ask because of my conversation with some survivors
• 2:12
who were under age when they were pulled into mister
• 2:15
Epstein's world. They have relayed to us that no one
• 2:18
ever mister Epstein knew how old they were. But you know,
• 2:22
no one in the room at parties, at events, at
• 2:24
meetings ever asked how old they were. They assumed they
• 2:27
were adults because they looked like adults. A seventeen year
• 2:30
old young woman, you know, is not always spottable as
• 2:33
a seventeen year old young woman. Just thinking about any
• 2:37
woman who were at any of these meetings, who were
• 2:39
working at mister Epstein's home, who were engaged in any coordination.
• 2:43
Can you think of, you know, any young woman who
• 2:46
we should talk to, mister Gates. No, the only thing
• 2:50
I did with Epstein that was of casual entertainment nature
• 2:53
was when he had David Blaine come over after we
• 2:56
had a dinner meeting. And as I've said, as you've
• 2:59
seen in the photograp there were two of the women
• 3:01
around Epstein who were standing around during the David Blaine performance.
• 3:06
But you know, you've heard from everything I know about
• 3:08
the women around Epstein, and I'm sorry to hear that
• 3:11
some of them were victims. Randall, thank you so much
• 3:15
for your answers and joining us, mister Gates. Next question
• 3:19
by redacted question mister Gates, did you ever meet Gallaine Maxwell? Answer?
• 3:24
I met her one time. I was at a hotel
• 3:26
restaurant and she and Ted Waite were there, and that
• 3:29
was the one time I was introduced to her. Question
• 3:32
one was that answer? It's a good question. She clearly
• 3:35
had left time with Epstein and was with Ted Waite.
• 3:38
Ted Waite is someone I knew fairly well because he
• 3:41
created a company called Gateway that was in personal computer business.
• 3:45
But you know, it was just a few minutes introduction
• 3:47
because we happened to be in the same place. But
• 3:49
other than that, I never met her. Question and that
• 3:56
was simply an introduction rather than a substantative conversation. Answer,
• 4:00
not a substantive conversation. No question. And was this during
• 4:04
the period of your relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or after? Answer? No,
• 4:09
I think it was after, but we would have to
• 4:11
dig out the date. Question and did miss Maxwell ever
• 4:15
come up in conversations with Jeffrey Epstein. Answer never question
• 4:20
did she ever come up in conversations with Melanie Walker?
• 4:23
Answer never question? Okay, mister Gates. A few minutes ago,
• 4:28
in a response to mister krishnil Morty's questions, you mentioned
• 4:32
there were two skype calls. Is that right answer to question?
• 4:36
Skype calls? Answer right question? And I think we discussed
• 4:40
one earlier, which occurred on February twenty seventh, twenty fourteen.
• 4:44
Is that right answer? Well, we inadvertently discussed it question
• 4:48
sure answer because there was a question about February twenty seventh,
• 4:52
twenty thirteen thing. And I accidentally saw February twenty seventh
• 4:57
and said, oh, that meeting was a Skype call. The
• 5:00
February twenty seventh, twenty thirteen meeting is in person meeting
• 5:04
in New York. And the February twenty seventh, twenty thirteen
• 5:08
meeting is a skype call. Question understood? And when was
• 5:12
the second skype call? Answer? The second Skype call is
• 5:17
May twenty first, twenty fourteen. Question and what was the
• 5:21
purpose of that call? Answer? You know, everything in this
• 5:24
timeframe is focusing on who are these donors? Is this
• 5:27
going to be real? And so right after the second
• 5:30
Skype call is when he suggests the names of people
• 5:33
that we would end up meeting in September, which is
• 5:36
the second to last meeting I had with Epstein. Question
• 5:39
and do you recall the exact discussions of that call
• 5:42
with mister Epstein? Answer? I do not. Question was anyone
• 5:45
else on that call? Answer? Larry Cohen may have come
• 5:49
for some part of the call, they go off the record,
• 5:53
they're back on gates. Yeah. My note chow Larry as
• 5:56
being on the first of the two Skype calls, but
• 5:58
not on the second call. Question not on the second one?
• 6:02
And I have in my notes, and I could have
• 6:04
this incorrect, but I believe you testified earlier that it
• 6:07
was the first Skype call was just you and mister Epstein?
• 6:10
That's not true. Answer, No, the first Skype call Larry
• 6:14
Cohen is part of that. Question understood? And who was
• 6:17
on the second Skype call? Answer? It looks like just
• 6:20
myself in Epstein question just you and Epstein? Okay? Why
• 6:24
was this conducted over Skype? Answer because we weren't in
• 6:28
the same physical location. Question why the sky platform? Answer
• 6:32
of Microsoft owned Skype? Question did you suggest Skype? Answer?
• 6:36
I mean, I'm capable of using probably several different video
• 6:40
calling platforms. I don't think there's any unique feature of
• 6:43
Skype that caused it to be used. You know, Subsequently,
• 6:46
I've shifted ninety percent of my use to teams and
• 6:49
perhaps ten percent to Zoom, so this may have. Indeed,
• 6:53
the second meeting may have been my final Skype call.
• 6:56
Question understood, And I guess the reason that I'm asking
• 6:59
is because Jeffrey Epstein does have a demonstrated history of
• 7:03
using Skype, and so my question to you is did
• 7:05
he recommend that this meeting be conducted on Skype? Answer?
• 7:09
I don't know. Question. Okay, mister adacted, we can go
• 7:13
off record. Question, we can go back on record. Mister Gates.
• 7:17
We briefly discussed your relationship or your one interaction that
• 7:21
you recall with Glenn Maxwell during the last hour. Just
• 7:24
to be clear, that's the only interaction with her that
• 7:27
you recall. Answer, the only time I ever met her. Yeah. Question.
• 7:31
She did tell the Department of Justice in an interview
• 7:34
that she did with them last summer that she met you.
• 7:37
It sounds like briefly at a TED conference. Do you
• 7:40
have any recollection of that? Answer? Yeah, there was a
• 7:43
Ted dinner with about forty or fifty people, and she
• 7:45
was an attendee there. I don't know if I shook
• 7:47
her hand, and I didn't have a conversation with her. Question,
• 7:51
but do you recall that she was there? In general? Answer?
• 7:53
I think she attended a dinner around the TED conference. Yes. Question,
• 7:57
do you recall any other I'll call them interactions, but
• 8:00
any other times you were in the same place as
• 8:02
Glenn Maxwell, other than the meeting with Ted Waite, the
• 8:05
brief meeting with Ted Waite and this very brief meeting
• 8:09
at a dinner at a TED conference. Answer, as I
• 8:12
say on the Ted thing, I don't know that I
• 8:15
shook her hand. I'm not sure, but I didn't have
• 8:17
a conversation with her other than those two times. No,
• 8:20
I never met her. Mister Emer's asking questions now question,
• 8:25
mister Gates, We're at a point in our questioning where,
• 8:28
unfortunately I do have to make you repeat yourself just
• 8:30
to make sure that the record is crystal clear. During
• 8:33
the first hour, I believe you had mentioned that at
• 8:35
some point you were invited to mister Epstein's island. Is
• 8:38
that right? Answer? Yes, Several times he had issued an invitation.
• 8:42
Question and approximately when you extended those invites. Answer we
• 8:47
can dig through the emails. I don't know the timing. Question.
• 8:51
And he himself directly invited you. Is that right answer,
• 8:53
that's right question? And you rejected those invites? Answer that's
• 8:58
correct question right? And as far as his other properties go,
• 9:02
you've testified numerous times to have had dinners at his
• 9:05
Manhattan townhouse. Is that right answer? That's right question. Have
• 9:09
you ever visited his Paris apartment? Answer? Yeah, I talked
• 9:12
about that one meeting I had there. Question What about
• 9:16
Zoro Ranch in New Mexico? Answer never went there? Question
• 9:20
How about the pom Beach home? Answer never went there?
• 9:23
Question any other properties owned by mister Epstein? Answer no,
• 9:28
it was, as you said, several meetings at his New
• 9:30
York residence and the one meeting in Paris, and then
• 9:33
the one time we flew together on a plane from
• 9:35
New York to ponm Beach. Question, so let's talk briefly
• 9:39
about the Manhattan town home. Did you notice anything unusual
• 9:42
during your visits there? Answer? Well, I never went above
• 9:45
the first floor. You know, there's kind of a fancy door,
• 9:48
and then you go up some stairs and to the
• 9:50
left is a room where we had dinner and most
• 9:53
of the meetings, and then to the right is a
• 9:55
large area I think he called his office area, and
• 9:58
then there's a bathroom on that floor. And that's what
• 10:01
I remember about the residence. Question, And there's been allegations
• 10:05
that Epstein had cameras that he would use to blackmail visitors.
• 10:09
Did you notice any cameras when you visited? Answer I
• 10:12
did not. Question. During the committee's review of documents produced
• 10:16
by the estate, as well as photos that had been
• 10:18
released as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, this
• 10:22
is my own characterization, but it seems that mister Epstein
• 10:25
had an unusual creepy taste in artwork. Did you notice
• 10:28
any unusual weird artwork when you visited the home? Answer?
• 10:33
I know there was one thing he had that was
• 10:34
a bit strange. Was it like Bill Clinton in address?
• 10:38
That was one thing that it was Bill Clinton in
• 10:41
address I think, which I think fits your description. Question
• 10:45
did you ask him about that specific portrait? Answer? I
• 10:48
did not question. And to be clear, did you notice
• 10:51
any nude photos displayed at his property? Answer no, I
• 10:54
mean the only two properties I ever saw were New
• 10:57
York and the Paris one. And I didn't see any
• 10:59
nude photos in either location. Question and back to the
• 11:03
photo of Bill Clinton, where was that? Answer? I don't
• 11:05
think it was a photo, honestly. Question or the painting
• 11:08
excuse me? Answer? Yeah, the artwork that was on the
• 11:11
wall inside his office. Question. Now, you mentioned that you
• 11:16
visited the property in Paris as well. Did you notice
• 11:18
anything unusual when you visited the property? Answer? I did not. Question.
• 11:24
A couple of weeks ago, the committee interviewed Sarah Kellen,
• 11:26
a survivor, and she said and mentioned that mister Epstein
• 11:30
had a painting or a photo or a naked photo
• 11:32
of her displayed at the property. You didn't see a
• 11:35
photo of miss Kellen? Is that right? Answer? No, you know,
• 11:38
I don't know the extent of that property. We went
• 11:40
into this room or we sat in the excess food
• 11:43
was brought to us there, but we didn't go to
• 11:45
other rooms. All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right here,
• 11:49
and in the next episode, we're gonna pick up where
• 11:52
we left off. All the information that goes with this
• 11:55
episode can be found in the description box.
