Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the rope of
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Dove Radio podcast. I am your host, Chris Carlson.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We are live on a Tuesday night. Did you hear
- 0:12Speaker 1: me how I said Tuesday? You can tell I just
- 0:15Speaker 1: woke up from a nap, you know those naps that
- 0:18Speaker 1: you're like, I'm just gonna just gonna I'm just gonna
- 0:20Speaker 1: rest my eyes. So I just need like fifteen to
- 0:23Speaker 1: twenty minute two hours just like that, just so so
- 0:29Speaker 1: bear with me. But I did say last week that
- 0:33Speaker 1: I was gonna make a Tuesday Night, and I damn
- 0:35Speaker 1: I almost slept right through it. Anyway, we will do
- 0:40Speaker 1: some recap. We had an upset, a very sizeable upset
- 0:45Speaker 1: of Caleb Plant. Uh resund these man great performance. I
- 0:51Speaker 1: did underestimate them. A lot of podcasts and media members,
- 0:55Speaker 1: whether full or part time, will not own up to
- 0:59Speaker 1: stuff right, always make excuses and all that. And sometimes
- 1:03Speaker 1: I always say there's excuses, there's reasons. Sometimes it's right
- 1:07Speaker 1: in between that when it comes to like fighters and
- 1:10Speaker 1: fights and outcomes and all that. But I was wrong.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I thought were Sunday's was very solid, but I did
- 1:18Speaker 1: not think he would be Caleb Plant. I thought it
- 1:22Speaker 1: was just a solid showcase fight to get him to
- 1:27Speaker 1: the next fight. That's what it appeared to be. That
- 1:31Speaker 1: wasn't the case. That wasn't the case. Turned out to
- 1:34Speaker 1: be a very good fight, and that was a very
- 1:36Speaker 1: good fight. Then you start to look and you go, damn,
- 1:41Speaker 1: you know, I like that the young ins got tests
- 1:44Speaker 1: on paper turned out to not be tests, but that's
- 1:48Speaker 1: because they overachieved or really showed what they're worth. On
- 1:52Speaker 1: the undercard, it was a pretty damn good card. Charlo's
- 1:56Speaker 1: jab looked really great. I'm actually glad he went more
- 2:01Speaker 1: rounds than some people thought he would. So, yeah, it
- 2:07Speaker 1: was nice seeing a Charlo back. I will say that
- 2:10Speaker 1: Mal Charlow that that was fun to see, and then
- 2:14Speaker 1: you know, we'll talk about some other items. Of course,
- 2:20Speaker 1: excuse me from the weekend. You know, we had a
- 2:26Speaker 1: really good back, had a really good fight with Folden
- 2:32Speaker 1: that was a very good fight as well on that
- 2:35Speaker 1: Golden Boy to his own card, so we'll talk about that. Then.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Of course, we do have cards coming up this weekend
- 2:40Speaker 1: on ESPN Slash, ESPN Plus in the Zone. We got
- 2:44Speaker 1: a heavyweight fight which I'm looking forward to, and you know,
- 2:50Speaker 1: Keishan Davis is back. He's fighting an opponent that a
- 2:54Speaker 1: lot of people don't like to watch. But I still
- 2:57Speaker 1: think he's a solid opponent, and I still think this
- 3:00Speaker 1: time in his career, it's still a quality opponent and
- 3:05Speaker 1: it is one of those measuring sticks. How did you
- 3:09Speaker 1: look against them? Okay, when he did this? What did
- 3:12Speaker 1: you do? You know? So I'm actually looking forward to that.
- 3:15Speaker 1: There are some good fights, you know, after this week though.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I was just looking back at the schedule and it
- 3:21Speaker 1: does drop off until July, which is kind of a bummer,
- 3:25Speaker 1: but not that there's any you know, nothing, because there
- 3:29Speaker 1: is there's some good especially maybe some undercard fights that
- 3:33Speaker 1: you maybe would like more than the main event. But yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: it falls off, you know, but either way, we will,
- 3:44Speaker 1: like I said, preview and and talk our way through
- 3:46Speaker 1: and I say we usually we meaning us listening to
- 3:49Speaker 1: this right us boxing fans. But John is going to
- 3:52Speaker 1: be able to join us. I'm gonna get him on
- 3:55Speaker 1: here really quick, like, and we do have some fight news,
- 3:58Speaker 1: a little boxing Twitter stuff per usual. But tail female
- 4:02Speaker 1: Lopez say it ain't so really now, I did think
- 4:09Speaker 1: Boots should have taken that fight, that said, I think
- 4:18Speaker 1: I know I should say on both of those that
- 4:20Speaker 1: tale Fema Lopez. You know, it's out of his mouth
- 4:26Speaker 1: for the eleven mil so, he had eleven mils sitting
- 4:30Speaker 1: on the table to fight Devin Hamy, and he's willing
- 4:33Speaker 1: to fight at forty seven for Boots. I get it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's lineal, but still you're willing to fight him at
- 4:39Speaker 1: forty seven. I don't know, man, there was a catchwaiting Bulbs.
- 4:45Speaker 1: They seem to agreed on certain terms. It was just
- 4:49Speaker 1: about signing the contract, and here we go again with
- 4:52Speaker 1: this fucking public negotiations. Dude, they don't fucking work, Dude,
- 4:58Speaker 1: they really don't. Maybe after a failed negotiation they end
- 5:03Speaker 1: up working like Spence Crawford. It just if this is
- 5:11Speaker 1: like this right now and Tail doesn't take this fight,
- 5:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not a big you know, I don't know.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I'm not a guy that likes to be like older
- 5:22Speaker 1: Dunk and he's Dunk and he's afraid he's this, He's that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Every I'm not just Tail. I'm saying everybody.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You know, a lot of times it just comes down
- 5:30Speaker 1: to the business. But I I need some explain it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I need to hear some reasoning on this one, like
- 5:40Speaker 1: you should have, you know, had a press conference or
- 5:44Speaker 1: something like something's going on to where you can't fight
- 5:48Speaker 1: or something like that. I don't know, man, It's it's
- 5:56Speaker 1: fucking crazy, man. I'm a fight from a one to
- 6:00Speaker 1: twenty six pounder going up to one thirty sounds like
- 6:04Speaker 1: it's a done deal and it's a phenomenal fight. Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: what will just kind of look like, where does Caleb
- 6:11Speaker 1: Plant go from here? Is there a rematch? Is it
- 6:14Speaker 1: Charlo and Riscendez? Do they go Charlo and try to
- 6:18Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. I don't know where they go.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting though. Like I said, it was
- 6:22Speaker 1: nice to have a Charlo back before we get it going. Though.
- 6:26Speaker 1: If this is your first time listening to the rope
- 6:29Speaker 1: It Up Radio podcast, which multiple podcasts out there have
- 6:34Speaker 1: used rope adope in it some form or fashion, and
- 6:39Speaker 1: that's cool. It's not my term either, shouts out to
- 6:41Speaker 1: Nrip to Muhammad Ali. But it's just like, damn, you guys,
- 6:45Speaker 1: aren't that creative anyway? Rope It Up Radio podcast, which

- 7:55Speaker 1: as I mentioned before, shoot we will get Okay, I'm
- 8:02Speaker 1: gonna get John in here in just a half a second.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Why don't we go over that beck uh fulghum fight.
- 8:16Speaker 1: That was a good fight. That was a good fight.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I gave Folden the first round. You know, not a
- 8:22Speaker 1: whole lot happened there. I thought Darius maybe landed the
- 8:25Speaker 1: better shots. It was pretty slow. But then Beck Melo
- 8:30Speaker 1: kauz Zuez Melo kazu zee Zee. I thought he went
- 8:37Speaker 1: on a little two round two, three and four. His
- 8:42Speaker 1: left hand was landing to the head and body. That
- 8:47Speaker 1: left hook to the head was landed, but either straight
- 8:49Speaker 1: or left, you know, straight left or left hooks, and
- 8:54Speaker 1: then he was adding a little bit of movement in there.
- 8:56Speaker 1: So I had him up three to one after full four.
- 9:01Speaker 1: The fifth round, although early and late Beck did some
- 9:04Speaker 1: nice work, I thought the overall better lands were full
- 9:07Speaker 1: of them. Sixth round, two way round. Man, that was
- 9:11Speaker 1: really really close. I could have went either way. Now
- 9:17Speaker 1: I saw I believe the judges scored nine to nine.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So where was this fight? I should look really quick
- 9:26Speaker 1: because I thought it was a ten point must system
- 9:30Speaker 1: because there was a beck uh. Beck was penalized for
- 9:37Speaker 1: holding in the seventh round, and I could have sworn.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I saw someone say that was it was nine nine rounds,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but I thought Beck won the round. But there was
- 9:49Speaker 1: a penalty. So in a in a ten point must system,
- 9:56Speaker 1: that's usually not necessarily nine to nine. That's ten to nine,
- 10:00Speaker 1: even though it seems weird at home though, that's nine
- 10:03Speaker 1: to nine. Let's see here. I did think Beck kind
- 10:10Speaker 1: of got it going a little bit in the in
- 10:13Speaker 1: the eighth his jab in left hands. The ninth I
- 10:16Speaker 1: gave to Folgum. Uh, there was a late you know,
- 10:20Speaker 1: there was a late shot in Actually in that eighth
- 10:23Speaker 1: round he stumbled Folgum like fairly. You know, it was
- 10:30Speaker 1: pretty big. The ninth and well, say, the ninth I
- 10:35Speaker 1: gave the folgum. The tenth I gave to Beck. Very close.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Eleventh round. I gave the folgum and then a left hand.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It was the right to the body and a left
- 10:47Speaker 1: hand up top fairly early in the twelve drop Folgum.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Beck won that round ten to eight. I mean it
- 10:58Speaker 1: was really close. I think it was basically one fifteen
- 11:01Speaker 1: one thirteen, but one fourteen one twelve because of how
- 11:05Speaker 1: that worked out with both both of them getting a
- 11:07Speaker 1: point deducted. So very competitive. I did that Beck winning,
- 11:13Speaker 1: but it was close. It was very close. If they
- 11:18Speaker 1: ran it back, I wouldn't be mad. They're both pretty young,
- 11:21Speaker 1: so maybe they won't necessarily run it back. Maybe they
- 11:28Speaker 1: run it back, you know, in due time. I guess
- 11:31Speaker 1: you could say. My guess is they're going to move back.
- 11:36Speaker 1: They're gonna move them up, and not to say I
- 11:40Speaker 1: think Vulgan was like, you know, have them take a
- 11:43Speaker 1: bunch of steps back or anything. But but I could
- 11:47Speaker 1: see them not running it right back, is my point.
- 11:50Speaker 1: So very good fight. I just text John here, so
- 11:55Speaker 1: we'll get them in the fold. Let's see the Lucero
- 12:04Speaker 1: and Velenzuela fight. I was looking forward to this fight,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, I had Lucero for sure, but I did
- 12:13Speaker 1: think that it would be that the fight would last
- 12:18Speaker 1: longer at least, you know, I thought it'd be. It
- 12:20Speaker 1: was not that it wasn't competitive, because there was a
- 12:23Speaker 1: little bit of that. The I mean, the first round
- 12:25Speaker 1: was very entertained. These dudes came to bang Lucera with
- 12:29Speaker 1: his jab and one two's Velenzuela with the hooks to
- 12:33Speaker 1: the body and head. Like I said, very entertaining first round.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You knew they meant business on paper. It seemed that
- 12:41Speaker 1: way too. Really early and kind of in the second
- 12:47Speaker 1: half of the of the second round, it was two
- 12:51Speaker 1: way dude just banging on the inside. A flush right
- 12:57Speaker 1: hook landed perfectly, knocked them down and right as the
- 13:03Speaker 1: round was ending, they they stopped it. And I did
- 13:11Speaker 1: kind of think it was early, that said Lucero. You know,
- 13:18Speaker 1: what he was landing compared to Vellensuilla in a short period.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Obviously I kind of favored his work anyway, but I
- 13:26Speaker 1: did think it was a little early right at the
- 13:28Speaker 1: end of the Okay, here's I see John. I'm gonna
- 13:30Speaker 1: go ahead and get him involved. Here. You should be
- 13:36Speaker 1: popping up here any second. There we go. Hey, what's
- 13:45Speaker 1: going on, John? How you doing?
- 13:48Speaker 2: Hey, Chris? How are you tonight? Not bad?
- 13:51Speaker 1: Not bad man, Just it's funny. I actually, uh, I
- 13:56Speaker 1: got stuff done right. And then I did the old
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'm just gonna rest my eyes, you know for just
- 14:04Speaker 1: a little bit, and all of a sudden way beat
- 14:08Speaker 1: like I should have said an alarm type nap, you know,
- 14:12Speaker 1: and it went way further than planned, and I was like,
- 14:16Speaker 1: oh shit, I gotta oh my god, you know. So
- 14:19Speaker 1: I'm I'm trying to get some caffeine in me. It's
- 14:23Speaker 1: probably gonna be a late night. I'll probably have to
- 14:25Speaker 1: read late at night to make me tired or something
- 14:27Speaker 1: like that. But uh, but it's good to have you
- 14:30Speaker 1: back on the show. How you doing.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Good?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Good?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I know what you mean. I almost
- 14:38Speaker 2: had one of those after lunch today. But I remember
- 14:44Speaker 2: reading some Navy seal stuff in recent years, and they
- 14:48Speaker 2: said they have no problems with taking naps, but even
- 14:50Speaker 2: if it's five minutes, they set them. They set the
- 14:53Speaker 2: alarm for the exact reason you're describing, so kind of
- 14:57Speaker 2: kind of works. I've started doing that because because you
- 15:00Speaker 2: never know.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So yeah, and you know, like a good area as
- 15:04Speaker 1: long as it's not too long. You know, once you
- 15:06Speaker 1: get too long in your nap, then it starts to
- 15:08Speaker 1: make it kind of faded. But man, a good just
- 15:12Speaker 1: shut your eye, rest your eye nap. It really does
- 15:15Speaker 1: kind of rejuvenates you for the rest of the day
- 15:17Speaker 1: or night or whatever it is. I definitely, uh yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 1: some people hate him. They just it just makes them
- 15:25Speaker 1: tired and they can't you know, they just want to
- 15:27Speaker 1: sleep that for that, But yeah, I've kind of always
- 15:30Speaker 1: done that throughout my life. So we obviously are coming
- 15:38Speaker 1: off a weekend where we had a pretty good fight
- 15:41Speaker 1: on Friday night, the main event on the Zone, we
- 15:45Speaker 1: had an upset of Caleb Plant. Some young guys look
- 15:50Speaker 1: pretty good. On the undercard on the PBC, we had
- 15:53Speaker 1: Charlo Charlo back. We'll see where it goes from here. Obviously,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you can't you can only take so much out of
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know, given the opponent, I did like what I
- 16:04Speaker 1: saw of his jab. I kind of missed his jab
- 16:07Speaker 1: because he's got such a good job when he uses it.
- 16:11Speaker 1: So we'll start, well, why don't we start on the
- 16:15Speaker 1: PBC side of it, just because there was a pretty
- 16:18Speaker 1: damn big upset that I really looked at it, like
- 16:22Speaker 1: Rescendas is a good fighter or whatever. But I thought
- 16:25Speaker 1: it was like just a good showcase, you know, to
- 16:27Speaker 1: get to the Charlot fight. That's the way I looked
- 16:30Speaker 1: at it going in. I didn't really give Rassinda's a
- 16:32Speaker 1: big chance to win. I also, even in the prediction
- 16:37Speaker 1: segment on the show and the little write up that
- 16:40Speaker 1: I do, you know, clearly Plants not in his prime anymore.
- 16:44Speaker 1: We kind of knew that going in. But the combination
- 16:49Speaker 1: of the style, the body shots, those overhand rights that
- 16:54Speaker 1: were just landing well at times, he maybe plan banged
- 17:00Speaker 1: it out a little too much and wasn't moving. Maybe
- 17:03Speaker 1: that's you know, those body shots that really affected them.
- 17:06Speaker 1: What did you see take place in that upset? Because
- 17:09Speaker 1: like I said, on paper, it wasn't really supposed to
- 17:12Speaker 1: be all that, you know, two way the whole time
- 17:15Speaker 1: type thing, and and clearly they were trying to set
- 17:18Speaker 1: this thing up for Plant and Charlow to fight later
- 17:22Speaker 1: this year. What did you see in the main event?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Well, first, let's be clear, Plant was the biggest favorite
- 17:31Speaker 2: on the card at about minus twelve hundred going in,
- 17:37Speaker 2: so you know, nobody was calling for the upset. I wasn't.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I didn't really even like the matchups on this card
- 17:44Speaker 2: much going in. And you know, the problem that you
- 17:49Speaker 2: did get a huge upset by the odds. But the problem,
- 17:52Speaker 2: like you know I've said before, is you know, when
- 17:55Speaker 2: you're making these cards, and yeah, you get an upset
- 17:59Speaker 2: once in a while. Well, but when you have favorites
- 18:02Speaker 2: that are as big as they were on this card,
- 18:05Speaker 2: you can't call really when it's going to happen. You know,
- 18:09Speaker 2: nobody really realistically can. So I'm gonna you know, I'm
- 18:14Speaker 2: making a precursor to say, obviously there's some hindsight here,
- 18:19Speaker 2: But in hindsight, I feel more confident as to what
- 18:25Speaker 2: happened to Plant that I see a lot of other
- 18:28Speaker 2: people or you know, I necessarily agree with the theory.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I think what it is is, you know, Plant was
- 18:36Speaker 2: you know, we're getting PBC nostalgia here where you had
- 18:39Speaker 2: guys who were fighting on undercards when it first started out,
- 18:43Speaker 2: you know in twenty fifteen, like Caleb Plant, Gervonte Davis,
- 18:47Speaker 2: and then guys who were headliners but really built their
- 18:51Speaker 2: names bigger, like Jamal Charloe who was fighting. And you know,
- 18:57Speaker 2: this is arguably where PBC had some success with their
- 19:01Speaker 2: mission because ten years later, these are still the guys
- 19:04Speaker 2: we're talking about. So why I'm mentioning that is Lant
- 19:09Speaker 2: had the exposure. Uh and I saw it all all
- 19:12Speaker 2: along the way, And what I always felt about him was,
- 19:18Speaker 2: you know, real, real good. Defensively kind of underrated with
- 19:23Speaker 2: his power on the left hook, but that wasn't really
- 19:25Speaker 2: his style. He was. He was a pure boxer in
- 19:28Speaker 2: terms of style. But here's what I'm getting to, which
- 19:30Speaker 2: ties into what we saw Saturday night. He was always
- 19:35Speaker 2: a pure speed and reflex guy. And you know that's
- 19:41Speaker 2: kind of like not saying he's on that level of ability,
- 19:44Speaker 2: but I think this is like comparable to like when
- 19:47Speaker 2: Roy Jones started slipping and getting knocked out.
- 19:50Speaker 1: That's what he relied on.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Right when you get when you get a guy who
- 19:54Speaker 2: doesn't have classic fundamentals and you know, with Mike Tyson,
- 19:57Speaker 2: it was different, and Tyson still was effective against a
- 19:59Speaker 2: lot to people, even after doing the print prison stint.
- 20:04Speaker 2: But as I've said before, I always learned a lot
- 20:06Speaker 2: from Emmanuel Stewart, and he had said, you know, after
- 20:09Speaker 2: Tyson got stopped by Douglas, look, even though this guy's
- 20:13Speaker 2: only in his twenties, you know, he's kind of like
- 20:16Speaker 2: an explosive force reflexes speed. He may very well not
- 20:21Speaker 2: be the same already. And you know, I think that
- 20:23Speaker 2: was the case. So there's certain fighters like that. I
- 20:27Speaker 2: think Plant definitely fits into that mold. And let's say,
- 20:31Speaker 2: let's say if we can go you know, really after
- 20:35Speaker 2: the Canelo fight, and even though he got stopped, I'm
- 20:37Speaker 2: not focusing so much on him taking a beating, but
- 20:41Speaker 2: you know he had he had the big ko over Durrell.
- 20:46Speaker 2: But you know, like you said about the banging and
- 20:48Speaker 2: out Christ, you know, then he's fighting. You know, he
- 20:51Speaker 2: stopped the guy like McCombe, and he's kind of banging
- 20:53Speaker 2: out with about mccumby. Wasn't that good?
- 20:56Speaker 1: So hurt more than once in the fight, right.
- 20:59Speaker 2: He was not elusive. You know. Benavitez is a very
- 21:02Speaker 2: good fighter, but he was not elusive against Benavidez. You know,
- 21:05Speaker 2: he almost got stopped. He was taking a lot of
- 21:07Speaker 2: shots and really we probably got fooled by that McCombe
- 21:13Speaker 2: or you know, people were putting too much into that
- 21:15Speaker 2: McCombe fight. I mean, what really is mccumbe at a record?
- 21:17Speaker 2: He never beat anybody.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like that. Mccombe's better, right, I.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Think people put too much into that. And if you
- 21:27Speaker 2: really look at really Plant, yeah, because and you know,
- 21:31Speaker 2: we know Benavidez is real good, but but Plant was
- 21:34Speaker 2: really I mean he barely hung on to go the
- 21:37Speaker 2: distance that fight, right, And I can see people were
- 21:42Speaker 2: making the argument, well, he took a beating in Benavidez
- 21:46Speaker 2: and that sapped a lot out of him. Yeah, that
- 21:48Speaker 2: that is, there's going to be truth to that. But
- 21:51Speaker 2: I just think it's that it's an early thirties guy
- 21:54Speaker 2: who was all speed and reflexes, even though he had
- 21:56Speaker 2: a good amateur career, not classic fundamentals like a Roy Jones,
- 22:01Speaker 2: you know, who had a great amateur career. You know,
- 22:03Speaker 2: olympian got robbed of getting a gold medal in the Olympics.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But still I am on the side of you know,
- 22:09Speaker 2: Jones didn't have classic technique. You know, you get a
- 22:15Speaker 2: guy by like Floyd Mayweather, who you know, other more
- 22:20Speaker 2: classic boxing skills than he had the longevity because he
- 22:25Speaker 2: just wasn't, you know, purely the speed and reflex is
- 22:29Speaker 2: a little more you know, classic boxing skill technique not
- 22:34Speaker 2: you know, of course he's different than the rest. But
- 22:36Speaker 2: but but that's that's a difference. But these are like
- 22:40Speaker 2: a plan at Jones. You can find others that the
- 22:42Speaker 2: pure speed, speeding reflex guy. You know, you get into
- 22:45Speaker 2: the early thirties, I mean, unless you're like at heavyweight,
- 22:49Speaker 2: you know, then then somebody's gonna better carry it a
- 22:51Speaker 2: little longer. But even look, you know, different era. But
- 22:54Speaker 2: even look how much Ali slowed up. You know, he
- 22:56Speaker 2: changed to relying on his chin, the rope, a dope,
- 23:01Speaker 2: hugh stamina. You know, he was not the speed, right,
- 23:05Speaker 2: He wasn't the speedy, elusive guy, you know, you know,
- 23:08Speaker 2: before he went into exile, I mean, he was. He
- 23:11Speaker 2: was a speed reflex guy, you know, fighting with the
- 23:13Speaker 2: hands down and so but Ali had those other attributes
- 23:18Speaker 2: that he could rely on. And there's only one Ali,
- 23:20Speaker 2: so you know, and Caleb Plant is not Ali. So uh,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you know, as good as as great as Roy Jones was,
- 23:27Speaker 2: he wasn't either. So I think that's really what happened
- 23:32Speaker 2: to Plant because you know, Zendez, he's really not that good.
- 23:36Speaker 2: He's not old, so he you know, he's still in
- 23:38Speaker 2: his twenties, so you know, he got maybe still some
- 23:41Speaker 2: room to to grow. And of course this was the
- 23:44Speaker 2: biggest win of his career. But that wasn't really to me.
- 23:47Speaker 2: In that fight, he wasn't doing anything special. It's just Plant.
- 23:52Speaker 2: He's not the speed and reflex guy anymore. Like like
- 23:55Speaker 2: you look at Plant even though it was lesser opposition
- 23:57Speaker 2: earlier in his career. I mean, he was one of
- 24:00Speaker 2: those guys, you know, he was just standing there with
- 24:02Speaker 2: the hands down and guys couldn't hit him. Those guys
- 24:06Speaker 2: could not hit him, and he was making him look silly,
- 24:09Speaker 2: and he worked his way up like that. You know,
- 24:13Speaker 2: that's that's gone. You know, sure the opposition's tougher, we
- 24:16Speaker 2: know that, but he's still frustrated. Canelos some you know during.
- 24:20Speaker 1: That yeah yeah, yeah, well against him until you know
- 24:23Speaker 1: it turned on.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Him and even people who didn't like him kind of
- 24:25Speaker 2: agreed on that. Like I feel comfortable saying that was
- 24:28Speaker 2: the consensus. You know, he did have a good performance
- 24:31Speaker 2: there and he was elusive, but now that he's in
- 24:34Speaker 2: the early thirties, it's just not there. And they they're
- 24:38Speaker 2: saying they have a rematch clause or plan is so
- 24:41Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure he's telling the truth about that.
- 24:46Speaker 2: This is the thing where things get stalled out because
- 24:48Speaker 2: you got an upset. But then like, really, I'm gonna say, like,
- 24:51Speaker 2: it's not that it's a horrible fight, but do we
- 24:54Speaker 2: really want to see it again?
- 24:56Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, there's a lot of other stuff we'd
- 24:59Speaker 2: rather so that that's the problem, one of the many
- 25:05Speaker 2: problems with boxing right now. But this one, I think
- 25:07Speaker 2: really with a little bit of hindsight, I feel confident
- 25:10Speaker 2: that this is has to do with plant style and
- 25:13Speaker 2: being in the early thirties. He's not a classic fundamental guy,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and you know, he was never a brawler of course
- 25:19Speaker 2: either or a power guy. So there's just not much,
- 25:24Speaker 2: not many tools for him in a toolbox right now.
- 25:27Speaker 2: You did see that against Benavidez looking back to and
- 25:31Speaker 2: and it's just that the mccumby mccomby just wasn't enough
- 25:35Speaker 2: of an indicator. People looked at baby at his record
- 25:38Speaker 2: and saying, oh, you know plant, good performance, he's back
- 25:42Speaker 2: that kind of thing. But that that really I don't
- 25:44Speaker 2: think was the case. So I think for him, you know,
- 25:48Speaker 2: I don't think there's going to be any revival or
- 25:50Speaker 2: anything like that. He's not going to get his speed
- 25:52Speaker 2: and reflexes back now, so you know, he might he
- 25:56Speaker 2: might not even do that well in a rematch if
- 25:59Speaker 2: they if they, if he wants it, and they go
- 26:01Speaker 2: forward with it. So probably in essence, the end of
- 26:06Speaker 2: the line is a factor for him.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yeah, because that's second half of the fight. You know.
- 26:11Speaker 1: There really wasn't many rounds you could give him, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 1: so like you said, he may not even be able
- 26:17Speaker 1: to change that around, and if he does, it would
- 26:20Speaker 1: be a lot of movement and I don't know, Yeah,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I don't know, and put it on an undercard or something,
- 26:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a guy that you know, I mean,
- 26:29Speaker 2: Elijah Garcia way at him, you know, even though Garcia
- 26:34Speaker 2: is a puncher, you know, and Garcia has stumbled since.
- 26:37Speaker 2: So yeah, it's it's just not you know, as we know,
- 26:42Speaker 2: looking at the odds. You know, some people are talking
- 26:45Speaker 2: up some Okay, you know there was an upset, but
- 26:48Speaker 2: I still I don't think that there was a lot
- 26:50Speaker 2: of evidence going in to be you know, feeling that
- 26:55Speaker 2: confident and brescendez. But yeah, big upset. I think this
- 27:01Speaker 2: is this is the end of the line for Plant
- 27:04Speaker 2: as a factor. And it matters in the PBC context too, because,
- 27:07Speaker 2: as I was saying, these guys that were built up
- 27:11Speaker 2: over the ten years, some of the guys that did
- 27:14Speaker 2: become stars relative to the boxing climate we're talking about today,
- 27:18Speaker 2: now they're getting near the end. You know. Now they're
- 27:20Speaker 2: getting near the end. Time goes by, and especially if
- 27:24Speaker 2: you're speeding reflex guy like a Plant. And really Jervonte
- 27:27Speaker 2: Davis is too, so he had his first stumble and
- 27:30Speaker 2: the roach draw. That's a different topic.
- 27:32Speaker 3: But it's right, he's got the power, right, Yeah, he
- 27:39Speaker 3: can still pull the power on that, doesn't You're right,
- 27:41Speaker 3: that makes a huge difference because that's the last thing
- 27:43Speaker 3: to go.
- 27:43Speaker 2: But we have to we have to watch that carefully
- 27:46Speaker 2: because you know, it could be the tip of the
- 27:47Speaker 2: iceberg where he's reaching that too. And it's just it's
- 27:50Speaker 2: been ten years for these guys on the scene, and
- 27:54Speaker 2: you know, some of them are are starting to fade.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's what happens in boxing. You and I
- 28:00Speaker 1: have been watching long enough to where you know, people
- 28:03Speaker 1: get depressed about it, but it's like, this is the sport,
- 28:06Speaker 1: man Like, that's just how it goes. You know, maybe
- 28:09Speaker 1: you're depressed because you lost a bet or something, but
- 28:11Speaker 1: other than that, like or even you know, your favorite
- 28:13Speaker 1: fighter or whatever. I get it. But I'm more sad
- 28:17Speaker 1: when I see someone or or down or kind of like, man,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I hope nothing happens when I see someone carrying on
- 28:24Speaker 1: like a Manny Pacyao, right, you know. Now Barrios, you
- 28:30Speaker 1: know at the weight class, he doesn't necessarily have a
- 28:34Speaker 1: lot of power. At one forty he was putting people
- 28:36Speaker 1: on the deck a whole bunch, but he has necessarily
- 28:39Speaker 1: shown that. But yeah, I'm more I'm more or seeing
- 28:44Speaker 1: you know, hoping Tyson nothing happens to him, you know,
- 28:48Speaker 1: even during camp and stuff like that when he's working out.
- 28:52Speaker 1: That that's more of the stuff that that freaks me out.
- 28:57Speaker 1: So Rascende is obviously, whether it's a rematch or not,
- 29:01Speaker 1: he rejuvenated his career, which is not even that old really, you.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Know, and that's the one. Good for him. He's not
- 29:08Speaker 2: that old, right.
- 29:10Speaker 1: So maybe he'll get a rematch maybe, And even if
- 29:13Speaker 1: he gets a rematch and loses, I think that he's
- 29:15Speaker 1: now extended his career to be like, Okay, this guy
- 29:19Speaker 1: is trying to be a contender. You got to beat
- 29:20Speaker 1: Riscinda's to do it, you know, kind of that gate
- 29:23Speaker 1: gatekeeping mode, you know, at at the at the minimum.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Maybe maybe you know, maybe he will get you know,
- 29:30Speaker 1: get some more wins. We'll see. But I did like
- 29:34Speaker 1: what I compared because against Garcia in the early rounds
- 29:38Speaker 1: he actually did okay, but most people do good against
- 29:42Speaker 1: Garcia as far as hitting them and stuff like that.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But like you said, then it was pretty one sided
- 29:48Speaker 1: and he stopped him and that didn't really hold up. Now,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you know, now that you're you're a little removed from it,
- 29:54Speaker 1: you're like, yeah, that's that's not necessarily great. But my
- 29:58Speaker 1: guess is that that they will have a rematch. But
- 30:03Speaker 1: you know, we'll see where that goes. But that one,
- 30:08Speaker 1: you know, it's nothing crazy crazy, I guess, but you know,
- 30:13Speaker 1: it just seems like there's always one judge that you're like, really,
- 30:17Speaker 1: so you had this seven to five, huh, four plan.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You know, it's kind of like now it's not one
- 30:23Speaker 1: eighteen one, you know, some kind of crazy. But it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: still like there's no way you'd watch the fight and
- 30:28Speaker 1: thing plant in the fight, Like seven and five is
- 30:32Speaker 1: like the bare minimum lowest you can go. Otherwise it's
- 30:36Speaker 1: eight four and above. I had an eight to four.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But yeah, that that that judge. That was a bad scorecard.
- 30:44Speaker 2: It seems like most people did have it eight to
- 30:46Speaker 2: four and yeah, and let's remember because a lot of
- 30:49Speaker 2: people were going crazy about that, there's no logic in
- 30:56Speaker 2: corruption for one judge. Okay, yeah, in the vite for
- 31:00Speaker 2: one with one judge, So just me a little bit
- 31:03Speaker 2: when people don't use logic like that would make no
- 31:08Speaker 2: sense to take that risk.
- 31:09Speaker 1: You'd have to pay off two.
- 31:11Speaker 2: You have to pay enough too, Okay, if you want
- 31:13Speaker 2: to talk about paying off two with your conspiracy stuff,
- 31:17Speaker 2: I mean, at least there's some logic to that. You've
- 31:20Speaker 2: got to have evidence. But but like, there's no logic
- 31:23Speaker 2: to one. So when people.
- 31:26Speaker 1: So people are gonna have to put that money in
- 31:28Speaker 1: a bank at some point, right right, so that there's
- 31:32Speaker 1: a follow up there potentially too. You know.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, people were like threatening the guy and stuff and
- 31:37Speaker 2: what and it's just kind of like, you know, if
- 31:40Speaker 2: you want to make the argument that in your view,
- 31:44Speaker 2: that's incompetence as a judge, you probably can make that argument,
- 31:49Speaker 2: because there could be bad judges, like there is everything
- 31:52Speaker 2: else in life. But I tend to think on a
- 31:55Speaker 2: lot of these things, it's it's just it's boxing subjective,
- 31:59Speaker 2: the way we score, worried, and like I always go
- 32:01Speaker 2: on my theory a lot of times. If you if
- 32:06Speaker 2: you if you're not alternating your close rounds, even if subconscious,
- 32:12Speaker 2: and you you give a run to one guy because
- 32:15Speaker 2: you're like, well just because it's close, doesn't mean I
- 32:17Speaker 2: have to give one round to this guy and one
- 32:19Speaker 2: round the next guy. You're you're gonna get some quarters
- 32:22Speaker 2: some scores like that. But but like you, you know,
- 32:24Speaker 2: you point out first, I mean no, but nobody thought
- 32:28Speaker 2: Plant won the fight. And this was one that a
- 32:31Speaker 2: lot of people just seem to have like an eight
- 32:33Speaker 2: to four for you know, Sindez, and so it was,
- 32:38Speaker 2: you know, universally a bad card. And it was strange though,
- 32:45Speaker 2: as people were pointing out and and you pointed out,
- 32:48Speaker 2: I mean, nobody really felt Plant was doing well late
- 32:51Speaker 2: in the fight or anything like that, and Sutherland was
- 32:54Speaker 2: giving Plant late a late run.
- 32:59Speaker 1: So I mean, yeah, I believe there's like I believe
- 33:04Speaker 1: in in in that. What I think it is, John
- 33:08Speaker 1: is is partly what you said as far as how
- 33:10Speaker 1: you score them, you know, but also like kind of
- 33:15Speaker 1: like house judges, so they know so they are gonna skew.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It's not like that was a ten to two card
- 33:24Speaker 1: to where it's crazy obvious where you're like, what the hell,
- 33:27Speaker 1: like the the Canelo triple g right, like okay, dude,
- 33:31Speaker 1: this is how could you do that? It's it's impossible,
- 33:34Speaker 1: you know, there wasn't even enough tight rounds to do that,
- 33:37Speaker 1: you know. But I also think that they're just house
- 33:41Speaker 1: judges that they know that's the go to person for
- 33:45Speaker 1: styles and stuff like that, right, Either some judges just
- 33:50Speaker 1: no matter what comes that the if the if the
- 33:54Speaker 1: person makes the fight quote unquote makes the fight or
- 33:58Speaker 1: throws more punches, they're getting it no matter what the
- 34:00Speaker 1: hell's happening in the ring, and vice versa. Some people
- 34:03Speaker 1: like the more stylistic and jab and move and duck it,
- 34:07Speaker 1: but you know, but you still have to win the fight,
- 34:11Speaker 1: you know. So I think that's that's part of it,
- 34:14Speaker 1: and then then I could go with the theory of
- 34:16Speaker 1: the house wants to win, like in Vegas, right the
- 34:19Speaker 1: how of course Vegas is gonna want to start a
- 34:23Speaker 1: win obviously, you know, so I think that there's ways
- 34:26Speaker 1: to do it that way closer than just outright corruption.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And you know, it's always the money in the bag.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It's like, okay, so they just keep the money under
- 34:36Speaker 1: their bed, or like what do they do with the
- 34:39Speaker 1: you know, that's where it gets a little like Lucy Goosey.
- 34:44Speaker 1: But either way, obviously, not a whole lot to take
- 34:47Speaker 1: out of Charlo's performance as far as who he was facing,
- 34:52Speaker 1: right of course, But like I said, it is just
- 34:55Speaker 1: good for him to get back, get a camp because
- 34:57Speaker 1: he's been training for a while. Then he got a camp,
- 35:01Speaker 1: and I did like his jab. I've always liked his jab.
- 35:04Speaker 1: When he's really using it, it's stiff, it's assertive, and
- 35:08Speaker 1: it sets up a bunch of stuff, as we know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: So it's kind of a catch twenty two. You really
- 35:14Speaker 1: can't look too much into the performance, you know, but
- 35:18Speaker 1: it's just nice to have him back and we'll see
- 35:21Speaker 1: if it's too is he too long in the teeth
- 35:24Speaker 1: to really make some noise or is one sixty eight
- 35:28Speaker 1: kind of open still in a sense, And that jab
- 35:31Speaker 1: is gonna be tough to get around. He's got a
- 35:32Speaker 1: good chin. You know, clearly he hasn't been the same
- 35:36Speaker 1: guy power since he moved up from fifty four. But
- 35:40Speaker 1: what do you think overall? You know what I mean,
- 35:42Speaker 1: because they're probably not gonna make the Plant fight. I
- 35:45Speaker 1: guess if Plant wanted to retire, maybe they'd make the rescidence,
- 35:48Speaker 1: but I highly doubt.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It, you know, Yeah, I mean I've always liked Jamal
- 35:52Speaker 2: Charlo a lot as a fighter. I mean, you can
- 35:55Speaker 2: look back, I've always been high on him. So for me,
- 35:59Speaker 2: I was always high on him, but you know, his
- 36:03Speaker 2: his activity had become so sporadic. Uh and and you
- 36:07Speaker 2: know who he was facing that I I was thinking
- 36:11Speaker 2: a little bit like, you know, he was a huge
- 36:13Speaker 2: favor too, but not as big as a favorite as
- 36:15Speaker 2: and this is the key, Figures did not have him
- 36:19Speaker 2: as big a favor as planned. And I was looking
- 36:22Speaker 2: at that too because I just thought with the everything
- 36:25Speaker 2: and he's thirty five, I thought, you know, maybe if
- 36:29Speaker 2: something weird to were to happen, it would be in
- 36:31Speaker 2: this fight. But I hate hate saying for hate saying
- 36:34Speaker 2: it for a fellow Jersey guy. But I do have
- 36:37Speaker 2: to agree with what I saw the consensus. I mean,
- 36:40Speaker 2: Lamana just ended up being so bad in the fight,
- 36:44Speaker 2: Like it kind of makes it a little tricky to valuate.
- 36:47Speaker 2: But like I'm with you, Chris, Like I followed Jamal
- 36:50Speaker 2: Charlo closely. He's always been a guy I really really
- 36:53Speaker 2: liked a lot, really believe in his ability. Still kind
- 36:56Speaker 2: of do. Yeah, I liked what he did. His jab
- 37:01Speaker 2: and his power looked good, but I do see the point,
- 37:05Speaker 2: like and with Wamana, they're trying to take it away
- 37:10Speaker 2: from him. But what's what's just a tiny bit of
- 37:12Speaker 2: a head scratcher? Is I agree? You know, I've seen
- 37:16Speaker 2: the fights where he stepped up. You know, he's, like
- 37:18Speaker 2: I said, he's a Jersey guy, showed you get curious
- 37:21Speaker 2: and had poor performances, but they were kind of taken
- 37:24Speaker 2: away from him and unfairly like he he did perform
- 37:31Speaker 2: well against Mendoza and that fight was extremely close. You know,
- 37:37Speaker 2: some people were saying, like, well Mendoza maybe, but no,
- 37:39Speaker 2: I mean, you know, Mendoza had some good and you
- 37:44Speaker 2: know he's got some pop and Lomana, you know, there
- 37:48Speaker 2: was a case to be made for him in that fight.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Uh.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I did see that from that was a PBC fight
- 37:54Speaker 2: televised and like so you know, I was kepting that
- 37:58Speaker 2: in the back of my mind and thought like, well
- 38:00Speaker 2: know if he if he fights like that, and you know,
- 38:02Speaker 2: Charlo just got all kinds of rust. But you know,
- 38:06Speaker 2: Lamana was just bad in there, like like he was
- 38:09Speaker 2: just he was making movements and things that were leading
- 38:13Speaker 2: to nothing, Like he wasn't throwing any punches and making
- 38:16Speaker 2: all these movements, and you know, I could see the
- 38:19Speaker 2: criticisms like where his performance was so poor that it
- 38:25Speaker 2: left you thinking a little bit like well, what can
- 38:26Speaker 2: we take from this out of what Charlo's done? But
- 38:30Speaker 2: Charlo's power looked good, yeah, legitimately, And I have faith
- 38:35Speaker 2: in his power too. I think that he you know,
- 38:38Speaker 2: he's a good He is a good puncher. I mean,
- 38:43Speaker 2: you know, his brother had that run. His brother was
- 38:45Speaker 2: originally the non puncher, you know, Jamel. I always liked
- 38:48Speaker 2: Jermal better as a puncher. I mean, everybody did, I
- 38:51Speaker 2: think at one point, but I still did. I just
- 38:53Speaker 2: still think that, you know, they're twin brothers, but you
- 38:56Speaker 2: can't help sometimes to look at both of them and compare.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I always thought that either, Yeah, I just I think
- 39:03Speaker 1: people get lost in that. It's not I always you know,
- 39:05Speaker 1: it means that you're going to gain respect.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Right, I always, you know, felt Jamal was the better
- 39:11Speaker 2: puncher and still a good puncher, and like you said,
- 39:14Speaker 2: you know both Charlo is that the chins are underrated.
- 39:17Speaker 2: These guys with their level of opposition, yeah, have shown
- 39:21Speaker 2: good chins. I think what people need to look at too,
- 39:26Speaker 2: is like when we're talking about these guys, even like
- 39:28Speaker 2: you know Ricendez and you know that Charlo being back
- 39:32Speaker 2: of course different levels of fighters, but like we're talking
- 39:34Speaker 2: about one hundred and sixty eight pounds. I think with
- 39:37Speaker 2: the too many weight classes, I say it all the time,
- 39:40Speaker 2: but you know I'm involved in weekly ranking fighters for Transnational,
- 39:43Speaker 2: so I get to see it. I'm a big advocate,
- 39:45Speaker 2: as you know, Chris, that there's just too many weight
- 39:48Speaker 2: classes and it's it's one of the underrated problems with boxing.
- 39:51Speaker 2: And I think this does apply to this. But in
- 39:53Speaker 2: favor of Germal, Charlo like one thing I'm not going
- 39:56Speaker 2: to do, and people weren't talking about it. But if
- 39:58Speaker 2: I was like doing rankings Loan, I know, it's Jamal
- 40:02Speaker 2: Charlo just coming back against Thomas Laman and everybody's laughing like, oh,
- 40:07Speaker 2: you know, the WBC's got him number two or whatever.
- 40:10Speaker 2: But but I'm going to I'm going to play a
- 40:12Speaker 2: little Devil's advocate there. Like I said, I don't get
- 40:15Speaker 2: to do the ratings on my own with Transnational, so
- 40:18Speaker 2: I didn't propose it, but you know, I was even thinking,
- 40:20Speaker 2: like you look at the guys at one hundred and
- 40:22Speaker 2: sixty eight that are even the quote unquote legit top ten,
- 40:26Speaker 2: and it's not exactly.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Look inside the WBA top ten two, right, Yeah, well
- 40:31Speaker 4: they don't rank the other but they don't rank the
- 40:33Speaker 4: other beltholders, right, And I'm like, that's where I think
- 40:37Speaker 4: you do have to have a little flexibility with ratings,
- 40:39Speaker 4: even with who he came back against.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Like to me, a fighter of Jamal Charlo's ability, you know,
- 40:46Speaker 2: just because it's at one sixty eight, Like I look
- 40:49Speaker 2: at some of these guys, like I said, were the
- 40:51Speaker 2: quote legit top ten. I'm like, come on, Jamal Charlo
- 40:54Speaker 2: is a better fighter than these guys. So I mean,
- 40:58Speaker 2: like an example would be okay. We know Resendez just
- 41:01Speaker 2: beat Planted, but we know also this is what people
- 41:04Speaker 2: need to think about more with ratings, Like we know
- 41:08Speaker 2: also that if Jamal charlo is going to fight Sindez,
- 41:11Speaker 2: he's going to be a huge thing at him. Yes,
- 41:14Speaker 2: your fighters, you've got to take that into account. I mean,
- 41:19Speaker 2: if yeah, sure, it's a projection, but all ratings are
- 41:22Speaker 2: a projection, the whole projection, the whole things a projection.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Like some people try to look at it like it's
- 41:28Speaker 2: a playoff. It's not a playoff.
- 41:30Speaker 1: It's a projection.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I mean, the playoff is just for the championship. You
- 41:34Speaker 2: beat the champion, you become the champion. But in terms
- 41:37Speaker 2: of the ratings, it's not a playoff. So I'm saying
- 41:43Speaker 2: that to say, you know, I think with all these
- 41:45Speaker 2: weight classes, a guy with Jamal Charlo's talent, you know,
- 41:50Speaker 2: if he's even at thirty five, if he's going to
- 41:52Speaker 2: be active, you got to look at him as a factor,
- 41:56Speaker 2: including eight pounds. And that's the way I look at it.
- 41:59Speaker 2: So he's going to be back and he's going to
- 42:01Speaker 2: be active. I think he's a factor.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And it sounds like, you know what was going
- 42:06Speaker 1: on with him outside you know, he's pretty outside the rights.
- 42:12Speaker 1: He's speaking pretty openly about it and how he had
- 42:15Speaker 1: to make some changes and and so that's that could
- 42:19Speaker 1: be a positive thing. You know, then you can really
- 42:21Speaker 1: focus in one hundred percent on boxing while he's still
- 42:24Speaker 1: past you know, a career, you know, because that's how
- 42:27Speaker 1: the thing is, it could be taken away from you.
- 42:29Speaker 1: So I agree. I mean, you know, I'm looking at
- 42:34Speaker 1: some rankings in general, and you're like, I mean, how
- 42:38Speaker 1: many guys do you really put above them? You know?
- 42:41Speaker 1: Right right, that's what I just going to beat him up.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Berlanga is going to beat him up, you know. I mean,
- 42:50Speaker 1: that's you know, but.
- 42:54Speaker 2: That's that's another excellent example. Like I mean, if if
- 42:59Speaker 2: Jamal Charlie's fighting Edgar Berlang get tomorrow, and I'm not
- 43:02Speaker 2: even as down on Berlang as some people, I'm picking Charlo.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I don't mind saying that right now. If they were
- 43:09Speaker 2: going to fight in six months, I'm picking Charlo. Now
- 43:12Speaker 2: Charlo lays off for two years or something might be different.
- 43:15Speaker 2: But if they fight months, I'm picking Jamal Charlo. So uh,
- 43:19Speaker 2: don't have any problem saying that. Yeah, that's where the weights.
- 43:24Speaker 1: You know, he's got a lot of twelve round fights
- 43:27Speaker 1: center his belt, you know, right, yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 2: And you know you've got a guy like you know,
- 43:34Speaker 2: school running for his life against Canelo. I mean, like
- 43:37Speaker 2: you know, these were just top ten guys, top ten
- 43:40Speaker 2: one and sixty eight pound guys. I mean, you know,
- 43:42Speaker 2: I said Rezendez is up there now because he beats
- 43:45Speaker 2: Plant and what would just happen to Plant? Plant didn't
- 43:48Speaker 2: even fall understandably with the division. He's not even all
- 43:51Speaker 2: the way out of the top ten. But I do
- 43:53Speaker 2: think personally practically he's done. Yeah. Yeah, So again, you
- 43:57Speaker 2: know if for Jamal Arla really even at thirty five,
- 44:02Speaker 2: it's just a matter of staying active. I mean, if
- 44:05Speaker 2: that's what it is, I'll even do one division higher
- 44:08Speaker 2: at his age. You know, if he if he does
- 44:11Speaker 2: the one sixty eight and he's gonna really keep active.
- 44:14Speaker 2: I mean even if he were to go to one
- 44:16Speaker 2: hundred and seventy five pounds, I think he could do it.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I think he's got enough pop in the chin. So
- 44:22Speaker 2: and you know they're six feet tall to Charlo, so yeah,
- 44:25Speaker 2: it got enough height. So that is if he's going
- 44:28Speaker 2: to be active. He hasn't been beat up or anything.
- 44:31Speaker 2: All right, he could he could be a factor for
- 44:34Speaker 2: a while.
- 44:34Speaker 1: That's a good point. He is fresh that way, He
- 44:37Speaker 1: hasn't taken a bunch of damage, but he does have
- 44:41Speaker 1: a lot of experience in the rings. So whereas you
- 44:44Speaker 1: look at him and it's a fun it's a it's
- 44:47Speaker 1: a fun division because it is kind of wide open
- 44:50Speaker 1: in a sense, and no one really stands way out
- 44:53Speaker 1: just yet, right because no some have been tested, but
- 44:57Speaker 1: not many. And so yeah, I'm just happy to see
- 45:02Speaker 1: him back. We'll see where he goes. So as far
- 45:05Speaker 1: as the undercard goes, Hernandez and Davis. Now, on paper,
- 45:11Speaker 1: this was a step up fight for for for Hernandez,
- 45:16Speaker 1: Kirn Davis. You know, solid operator, you know, nothing to blow.
- 45:21Speaker 1: He's been in the ring with some solid dudes and
- 45:24Speaker 1: and so at I like the step up. I was like, okay,
- 45:26Speaker 1: let's see what he and he looked pretty damn you know,
- 45:29Speaker 1: pretty clean in this one in a variety of ways too,
- 45:33Speaker 1: you know, on the back foot, coming forward, patient, but
- 45:37Speaker 1: letting his hands go, even talking in there a little bit.
- 45:41Speaker 1: What do you think of what do you think of Hernandez?
- 45:45Speaker 1: Because he looked pretty to the meat.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Great performance, did everything except get the stoppage. You know,
- 45:54Speaker 2: Davis is a difficult guy to fight, and that's probably
- 45:57Speaker 2: why we all end up being impressed with, including myself
- 46:01Speaker 2: and her. You know, Hernandez only seven fights, but you
- 46:04Speaker 2: still the way he was fighting so well in there,
- 46:07Speaker 2: and he was hurting him frequently. Would have liked to
- 46:10Speaker 2: see the stoppage. But with that understood, he did everything else.
- 46:14Speaker 2: And what I did like to see, speaking at rankings
- 46:18Speaker 2: and transnational, which you know is really puts out the
- 46:23Speaker 2: closest we have to a legit top ten. I liked
- 46:27Speaker 2: this from from the board. Everybody wanted him in and
- 46:32Speaker 2: you know, put him in a good spot because knowing
- 46:34Speaker 2: the respect of Davis being difficult to fight and was
- 46:38Speaker 2: hanging around the top pen, suddenly he won too, you know, right,
- 46:42Speaker 2: totally clean, dominant, right dominant performance. So it seems like
- 46:49Speaker 2: there was we don't always have this with boxing fans, commentators,
- 46:53Speaker 2: and writers, et cetera, but seemed the consensus that everybody
- 46:57Speaker 2: was impressed with Hernandez liked it, and there's been nobody
- 47:01Speaker 2: at middleweight. It's one of the most historic divisions, arguably
- 47:05Speaker 2: the most historic division after heavyweight, so it has been
- 47:08Speaker 2: tragic in boxing terms in recent years. That middleweight has
- 47:14Speaker 2: been so barren of talent, so and a clear, you know,
- 47:19Speaker 2: lineal champ. You really want that at middleweight more than
- 47:24Speaker 2: other divisions because of the history. So you know, when
- 47:27Speaker 2: you see a guy like Hernandez, if you're a boxing historian,
- 47:31Speaker 2: not saying at seven fights he's proven greatness or anything,
- 47:33Speaker 2: but the point being we need somebody there, We need
- 47:36Speaker 2: somebody to step up. You know, Adamas has continued to
- 47:39Speaker 2: fight well, so he's proven that, you know, being at
- 47:45Speaker 2: the top of that division. He's for real and you know,
- 47:49Speaker 2: you know Amicaululi, you know he's good. You know, he's
- 47:54Speaker 2: had some real good performances, some not as good as others.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I mean, you know that if they get We've said
- 47:58Speaker 2: that before too, if they got these guys together, yes,
- 48:02Speaker 2: you know you might start to call the less and
- 48:05Speaker 2: and get a real champ. But it hasn't happened yet,
- 48:08Speaker 2: and the division so weak overall. Surely Hernandez is right
- 48:15Speaker 2: about to get himself in that mix. I mean, at
- 48:17Speaker 2: most one more big win and he's there. So if
- 48:22Speaker 2: he's not there already, even even after so few fights,
- 48:25Speaker 2: so boxing really needs that in the middleweight division, and
- 48:30Speaker 2: that was you know, that was good good for boxing
- 48:34Speaker 2: because the middleweight division needs it so badly.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like just for like a year, you'd wish,
- 48:41Speaker 1: uh Turkey would just focus on that and and make
- 48:45Speaker 1: make all the fights, you know, and just you know,
- 48:48Speaker 1: because he got off to a good start, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 1: so hopefully we'll see uh see that because yeah, you're
- 48:55Speaker 1: right about that. That was well put where it's like, yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 1: we know it's not deep, but we could get you know,
- 49:00Speaker 1: a little round robin action. We can get some pretty
- 49:03Speaker 1: good fights and and maybe organically you get a rematch,
- 49:07Speaker 1: you know, who knows, you know.
- 49:08Speaker 2: So you make a good point there, Chris, because starting
- 49:12Speaker 2: to you know, see Turkey missing opportunities for what the
- 49:16Speaker 2: mission was supposed to be. And that's an excellent point
- 49:19Speaker 2: because I think it does fit in with with the
- 49:22Speaker 2: tools he's equipped with and what he's supposed to be doing.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Supposed like, in other words, he's got the ring. Okay,
- 49:28Speaker 2: you know, a historical publication which has always had its
- 49:33Speaker 2: own rankings, and champ middleweight pretty much arguably but not
- 49:39Speaker 2: too much argument, the second historic division in boxing. So
- 49:44Speaker 2: Turkey's got the ring. You know, that would be.
- 49:47Speaker 1: A relatively speaking, exactly, I.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Can even see and Eddie heard saying that, like, relatively speaking,
- 49:55Speaker 2: these guys are companies.
- 49:57Speaker 1: You could make seven cards with these guys.
- 49:59Speaker 2: You know, yeah, I mean why not why not take
- 50:01Speaker 2: you know, why not take you know, a Damas, I'm
- 50:06Speaker 2: a Couley now you know Hernandez and somebody else and say, hey,
- 50:11Speaker 2: this is gonna be for the ring. These guys are
- 50:13Speaker 2: going to fight it off. It's gonna be for the
- 50:14Speaker 2: ring at the end of it, and we're gonna get
- 50:18Speaker 2: the history back on. We're gonna have a real middleweight champion. Look,
- 50:23Speaker 2: that was There's even a good historical example for that
- 50:29Speaker 2: within the last twenty years. You know, when you had
- 50:32Speaker 2: Bernard Hopkins in the middle Way Ternament Trinidad and Trinidad
- 50:36Speaker 2: had the explosive performance pulllweight Joppy Hopkins beat Homes in
- 50:40Speaker 2: the first round and then Hopkins got the upset right
- 50:44Speaker 2: over that in the final even though Hopkins had all
- 50:47Speaker 2: those alphabet defenses, that's really what solidified him as the guy,
- 50:53Speaker 2: and then he went to run in multiple divisions after
- 50:56Speaker 2: that kind of became a legend. But that's like a
- 50:59Speaker 2: perfect example. I mean that being put together by HBO
- 51:02Speaker 2: at that time, being a real lineal middleweight champ. Out
- 51:06Speaker 2: of that organically happen, you know, right, organically happen, and
- 51:11Speaker 2: you still talk about it today, Madison Square Garden, you
- 51:15Speaker 2: had great history. So that's the type of thing I'm
- 51:19Speaker 2: looking at here. Like you you point out, I made
- 51:22Speaker 2: an excellent points. This is where Turkey could use the money.
- 51:27Speaker 2: These guys would becoming relatively cheaply.
- 51:29Speaker 1: And you could add in a fifty four pounder too,
- 51:33Speaker 1: you know, like if all of a sudden the money
- 51:36Speaker 1: comes out there, like hey, can I be involved? You know,
- 51:38Speaker 1: let me jump up there.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Well, that's another perfect example because again a lot of
- 51:42Speaker 2: these weight classes are unnecessary, and that that's where you
- 51:45Speaker 2: used to see more creativity. Again, an example being Trinidad
- 51:48Speaker 2: was in the middleweight tournament. Yes, exactly, you got a
- 51:52Speaker 2: perfect example. You take maybe the three were talking about, right,
- 51:56Speaker 2: pick who you like the most that one fifty four
- 51:59Speaker 2: and U like the winner of Fondora and Zoo or
- 52:03Speaker 2: something like that.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Right, yeah, you could just better, you know, it just
- 52:07Speaker 1: be better, because right now it's almost like all these
- 52:10Speaker 1: guys it's either that happens or they all have to
- 52:12Speaker 1: be under one banner, and then it's in house because
- 52:15Speaker 1: otherwise and they're not in house. So the closest thing
- 52:18Speaker 1: we have to a workable thing without in house is
- 52:22Speaker 1: has been a Saudi of late. Unless they're big matchups,
- 52:25Speaker 1: you know, then you know that that person's gonna make
- 52:28Speaker 1: a good B side. Okay, we can make that fight,
- 52:31Speaker 1: or it's the right time to make the fight. Is
- 52:33Speaker 1: the most money out of there, something like that, But
- 52:35Speaker 1: other than that, clearly the profit you know, as you said,
- 52:41Speaker 1: it doesn't seem to be a big factor. So yeah,
- 52:44Speaker 1: that would that would spice things up because it is
- 52:47Speaker 1: starting to like it's top heavy, but there's interest. Hernandez man,
- 52:50Speaker 1: he looked good to me, he looked really really good.
- 52:54Speaker 1: But I agree that they're like even looking let me see,
- 52:58Speaker 1: like in the I thought the fifth, In the the fifth, sixth,
- 53:04Speaker 1: and seventh, you did see him start to land some
- 53:08Speaker 1: heavy shots and I did think, Okay, here we go.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But you're right, you know, down the stretch there wasn't
- 53:17Speaker 1: there wasn't as much going for the knockout and John,
- 53:20Speaker 1: would you say sometimes just going for it? What does
- 53:24Speaker 1: the end result always have to be there? Or just
- 53:27Speaker 1: let's see you put your foot on the gas and
- 53:29Speaker 1: see what happens. How do you feel about that, because
- 53:32Speaker 1: that is something that you say, I would have liked
- 53:34Speaker 1: to get this, you know, to get the stoppage. If
- 53:37Speaker 1: you're just saying, if it's there, take it, whether you
- 53:40Speaker 1: get it or not. Maybe the guy gets up two
- 53:42Speaker 1: times and he doesn't get stopped, but he was going
- 53:44Speaker 1: for it.
- 53:46Speaker 2: I think what frustrates me that I what I see
- 53:49Speaker 2: and this is what I did see with her Nana
- 53:51Speaker 2: is like, you know, my one criticism again not getting
- 53:54Speaker 2: the stoppage. But here would be why. And this is
- 53:56Speaker 2: to me where the commentators are out in left field
- 53:59Speaker 2: and they frustrate me because that's what I call infomercial commentary.
- 54:03Speaker 2: And it's all all the networks. They're all doing it.
- 54:05Speaker 2: It's permeated all the promotions, all the networks. But they
- 54:09Speaker 2: were doing it in that fight. In other words, pretending
- 54:12Speaker 2: like Kirn Davis can come up with this strategy where
- 54:17Speaker 2: in his own corner too bread man. I mean, come on,
- 54:20Speaker 2: the guy can't punch. Okay, he's difficult to fight, but
- 54:23Speaker 2: the guy cannot punch at all. So this idea like, well,
- 54:29Speaker 2: he's going to come forward, and he's going to have to,
- 54:31Speaker 2: you know, be trying to get Hernandez out of there.
- 54:34Speaker 2: That's that's fantasy. And then why this to meet ties
- 54:38Speaker 2: in with Hernandez? Is he's in with them? I mean
- 54:42Speaker 2: he knows at that point the guy can't hurt him.
- 54:45Speaker 2: I mean by reputation and buy what's happened for eight rounds?
- 54:49Speaker 2: So what do you what are you throwing a couple
- 54:51Speaker 2: of punches and then back and off for I mean,
- 54:54Speaker 2: this guy can't hurt you. He's not a He's hanging
- 54:58Speaker 2: on by a thread. And that's would be in the
- 55:02Speaker 2: performance and other small criticism because I'm like everybody else
- 55:06Speaker 2: liked the performance overall, but these are real criticisms because
- 55:09Speaker 2: they do come in against better opposition, you know. Then
- 55:13Speaker 2: there were a couple of moments when he actually backed
- 55:15Speaker 2: off and I was thinking, like, why are you back
- 55:18Speaker 2: at all? Yeah, Davis, I mean, this guy can't punch,
- 55:23Speaker 2: He can't hurt you. You shouldn't be taking one backward
- 55:25Speaker 2: step right because you're going to wear him out too
- 55:29Speaker 2: when you're not letting him step forward at all. Because
- 55:32Speaker 2: he's got to keep backing off.
- 55:34Speaker 1: He's got to keep that might be the time where
- 55:35Speaker 1: you land that perfect counter in the exchange, you know, right.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Right, And and what I did like about Hernandez, I
- 55:42Speaker 2: mean the guy punches in combination with power too, so
- 55:47Speaker 2: he wasn't just throwing one shot. He was throwing hard
- 55:49Speaker 2: shots in combination. But yeah, you know, no reason to
- 55:52Speaker 2: not keep pushing Davis back, get the stop it. He's
- 55:56Speaker 2: not going to hurt you. He's not a puncher at all.
- 55:58Speaker 2: He's just a difficult kind of fight, but he can't punch,
- 56:01Speaker 2: so right, kind of a good performance but a bit
- 56:05Speaker 2: of a missed opportunity there.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a good point because I did notice
- 56:09Speaker 1: in pushing them back and bringing pressure, you know, somewhere
- 56:14Speaker 1: in the middle around And you're right, he did either
- 56:18Speaker 1: what you said there or what else he said was
- 56:21Speaker 1: you know, landing some really good shots and then not
- 56:23Speaker 1: following up on it, and those type of habits, because
- 56:30Speaker 1: you can't just say, well, if you faced someone with
- 56:32Speaker 1: a more of a threat, he would have done that.
- 56:35Speaker 1: It's like, well, no, if you got to create those
- 56:37Speaker 1: habits too, because it may not it may not be
- 56:40Speaker 1: a knockout, but you clearly won that round in a
- 56:43Speaker 1: tight fight, you know, So like if you create that habit,
- 56:47Speaker 1: you're gonna win that round. It's not necessarily always it
- 56:51Speaker 1: has to be this highlight real knockout, but the fact
- 56:54Speaker 1: is you put your punches together, you followed up on it,
- 56:57Speaker 1: and hey, if someone's showing a crazy chin, then they did.
- 57:00Speaker 1: But at least you, you know, like you said, put
- 57:03Speaker 1: the put the foot on the gas and then you know.
- 57:08Speaker 1: I thought I did think that the Lucero Villains Whale fight,
- 57:14Speaker 1: I thought that would be a more two way fight.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I was not. I mean, it was while it while
- 57:19Speaker 1: it lasted, but but I didn't think Lucero would be
- 57:22Speaker 1: able to uh you know that flush right hook landed perfectly.
- 57:26Speaker 1: I did kind of think that it was an early stoppage.
- 57:29Speaker 1: It ended right at the end of the second, but
- 57:31Speaker 1: I did actually think that would be more of a
- 57:33Speaker 1: two way fight for longer. I have to admit, going in.
- 57:37Speaker 2: I felt like myself, this is why I do recommend
- 57:40Speaker 2: looking at these kind of things, because, like I always say,
- 57:43Speaker 2: they don't get everyone right, but they get it right
- 57:45Speaker 2: more than you do. And what got me not thinking
- 57:48Speaker 2: that way going in was when I was getting ready
- 57:50Speaker 2: for the card and scouting at the matchups for the
- 57:53Speaker 2: week looked at the odds on that fight, and Lucero
- 57:57Speaker 2: was a massive favorite, and I thought this Valin's wail
- 58:00Speaker 2: guys twenty three and oh with twenty Ko's and Lucero's
- 58:03Speaker 2: a massive favorite. I mean and the odds makers, No,
- 58:06Speaker 2: That's what I was saying there, Like I wasn't second
- 58:08Speaker 2: guessing the odds makers. I'm like, they got I get right.
- 58:11Speaker 2: So I'm like they looked at this guy's opposition and
- 58:14Speaker 2: this guy must have fought nobody. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 58:18Speaker 2: And I just did think the guy didn't look very
- 58:22Speaker 2: good once to the bell rang and I didn't mention it. Afterwards,
- 58:29Speaker 2: Ron Catch, you know, the legendary matchmaker. He did laugh.
- 58:33Speaker 2: He knew what I was talking about. I said, man,
- 58:35Speaker 2: I know one thing after this fight, I don't want
- 58:37Speaker 2: to see the twenty guys balance Weila Ko. Yeah, I
- 58:42Speaker 2: mean that's not had to be some bad, bad opposition, right, yeah,
- 58:46Speaker 2: We're no bad opposition. Because he was a huge dog
- 58:49Speaker 2: and got blown out. I personally didn't have any problem
- 58:53Speaker 2: with the stoppage. I just thought, really, as I was
- 58:57Speaker 2: watching the fight, then I'm like that, you know, if
- 58:59Speaker 2: you took the record away this Follin's, well, a guy's
- 59:02Speaker 2: not very good.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And I didn't think it would be a fifty
- 59:06Speaker 1: to fifty fight at the end of the fight, but
- 59:09Speaker 1: I thought within the und I had seen some of
- 59:11Speaker 1: his fights, so I thought within the rounds it would
- 59:13Speaker 1: be more. It would be a better step up for him,
- 59:15Speaker 1: you know, like even the even before he got knocked
- 59:19Speaker 1: out there, you know that the first round was entertaining though,
- 59:22Speaker 1: like they were out you know, but like you said,
- 59:27Speaker 1: in that first round, it was a two way round.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Early in the second was two round. But when you
- 59:32Speaker 1: saw the punches, they wait a second, this he's landing.
- 59:38Speaker 1: He's landing. But it sure isn't the effect you know,
- 59:42Speaker 1: exactly you know.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right. There was there was action, but yeah,
- 59:48Speaker 2: Allen's well was punching just the way you described it.
- 59:50Speaker 2: You're like, man, I don't want to see the guy
- 59:52Speaker 2: the twenty guys. This guy knocked out.
- 59:55Speaker 1: And that's really what changed my mind. Then it was like, man,
- 59:58Speaker 1: he hit him with some good sh and it didn't
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: look like it affected him whatsoever. But that that is
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: a good point. It is definitely a good point. So
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: that that Friday Night card with Folgham and Beck it's
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Mella Kazov. I always mess up his last name. I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: just go with Beck back to bully. But what do
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: you think of that fight? Because that was a competitive fight.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: It was basically what seven to five? All three? I
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: believe both of them got point deductions for different reasons.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: How'd you see that one go down?
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: There was a pretty good fight. It's just, you know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: from that sport perspective, it's too bad you get these
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: fights on his own. You really do feel in the
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: US virtually nobody's seeing them, just talking from US sensibilities,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: and you know, fam guy, American guy from Houston. He
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: has looked pretty good to me, including you know, solid
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: performance on Friday Night. Decent fighter, I mean, you know,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: decent fighter. So uh that's you know, kind of a positive.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: But he didn't but he didn't get the win. You know,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: he didn't get the the signature wind type of thing.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: You know, Beck is you know, he got upset by Rosatto.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Everybody was real high on him before that, and you
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: know he got a knock down late. But but not
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: getting a stoppage in this fight, I mean, he's he's
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: not you know, it's pretty obvious he's not going to
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: be at the level let's say pre Rosatto that people
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: were looking.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: As much of a bully as they were saying.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Right, and this is like we're talking like one hundred
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: and sixty eight pounds, you know, I mean like you
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: know that these are not like particularly threatening characters. You know,
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: when you're talking about Jamal Charlo.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Being let's say perfect example, I would put Charlo over
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: him right, right.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: No, not that it's automatic, as Charlo's had a lot
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: of layoffs, but but he's got the ability and he's
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: proven it. So uh yeah, like you said, it's it's
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: open in terms of you know, hm, this is maybe
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: like like we're saying, I mean you talk about Turkey
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: alask because right, he can he can make the fights
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: without it having to be in house. He can go
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: to different promotions, throw around the cash. But but we're
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: talking these are ideas of like some of these fights
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: could come cheaper, and you know, the guys might be
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: kind of for lack of a better term, hungrier because
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: they want to make more of a name. They're not
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: as high a profile, and they would come more cheaply,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: So he might might need to think about having some
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: like kind of well, I would say unofficial, but he's
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: got the money, he can do it official. I mean
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: maybe just you know, you don't want to drag it
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: out too long. I would say, you know some maybe
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: some some four man tournaments, you know, uh, the divisions
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: with the top guys, you know, and.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Even if you don't call it that, you know, you
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: can just be like, hey, it's a co feature. You
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: have these these four fighters, that's the main event. That
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: it's the co headliners, I mean liners, you know, and
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: just do it that way. Whatever.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Yeah, when HBI was going good, they used to do
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: a lot of that. Yeah, you know it's not official,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: but you take the four but then you really have
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: them fight, not just the hype like we've got the
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: last frankly like the last twenty years. But when it
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: used to be like they did that, then they really
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: fought that. They really did fight, and he had the
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: date reserved and you know it was ready to.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Go right right.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Right exactly. We need to we need to get back
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: to a little of that.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because if people get the more people get
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: excited about it's like, well let's push this off a
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: little bit and we can make some more money on this.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: So yeah, it was a good fight. Yeah, Beck, I
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: don't know he was. He's good. You know, there's times
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: in a fight in his fights where you're like, wow,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: that was pretty good, you know, and you'll land a
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: big shot if it land a big shot. Like he
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: definitely has some skills, no doubt about it, but like
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: his his jab and I liked him, but I did
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: think he was just being overhyped. I think he kind
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: of falls in the category of, you know, like hyping
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: up a guy who's beating people that he should beat
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: early in his career and shouldn't look really all that
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: bad and then did. And then yeah, you can't put
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: a death sentence on the guy's career just because he lost,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: you know, especially the way he lost. You know, that
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: could happen. But but yeah, I'm still not really seeing it.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Like you said, there's like levels and he's up there
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: and he's a good fighter, but yeah, I don't I
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: don't really see him, you know, separating himself as much
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: as you know, we kind of thought he would or
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: whatever people thought he would. Any other items that you
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: want to discuss before we get into uh this upcoming
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: week ind there, sir.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Yeah, just two things I'm thinking odds that are that
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: are interesting to me, and they do mean things. I
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: did put it out there as soon as I saw it.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: I saw some people pick up afterward. But I was shocked, frankly,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: you know, and it is official. I mean, Canelo only
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: minus one ninety five over Crawford. Now I gotta say it.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: You know, I was questioning, you know, would you know
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: maybe it's not going to be that exciting A fight
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: doesn't mean that it will be and is this just
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: an event? Almost getting down on it. But look again,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: the odds makers they got they they're the collective wisdom.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: They got to get it more right than any right.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: They got to set it where it's going to be
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: both sides, which is the collective wisdom. So you know,
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: they only got Canal out of minus one ninety five.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Now this part I have to throw out in fairness
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: to Turkey alichk if he ever gets to fight. I
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: mean there's already now incredible reports of all kinds of problems.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: But if he ever pulls it off, we have to
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: now give qualifier. I mean minus one ninety five for Canelo.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: That's not an event. That's not an event like that's
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: a fight.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: You know, we've got to look at that now. I
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: mean performances the way they've gone. I mean, the odds
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: makers are telling you now it's it's a fight, it's
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: not just an event. So I think everybody's got to
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: pay attention to that. Some people I sense don't like it,
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: they don't want to pay attention to it, but you
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: have to and and even I have to recalibrate a
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: little bit, like this is not just an event. This
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: this is being viewed as a fight, so if it
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: comes off, maybe have to look at it just a
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: little bit differently. And then again the collective wisdom. So
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: it doesn't mean what's going to happen, but it's what
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: I saw, even though I was high on them before
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: that fight. Berlanga is a favorite over Shirat, so like
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: a minus one twenty five, very close. But still that
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: tells me the odds makers are not buying into charez
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: bad hand against the Dames, or that that should have
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: been close. It was a terrible decision to draw. Again,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: he's going to have this opportunity and the Saudis want
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: to give it to him, I think to reverse it.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Langa is a fawd guy. But he's a he's an
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: underdog to Berlanga, So the odds makers are not buying
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: into this. His hand was her any of that stuff.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I mean, Charez, he's got to he's got to deliver
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: something against or he's going to be that kind of
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: a viewed as kind of a fraud as.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: On Twitter. Watching Twitter will destroy.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Him if exactly you can see it coming, right, I mean,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: you know, maybe he'll deliver, But when I saw that, man,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: he's an underdog to Berlanga. Yeah, nobody's buying those excuses
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: for that performance against the damas. Everybody knows what they saw.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: And you know, Shiraz after being a rising star for
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: a few fights and now all of a sudden, it's
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: all on the line for him. He's he's got to
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: produce in that fight.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got to throw some damn punches. Yeah. That
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: and what you said about Crawford. So are you now
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: kind of looking at have you looked at the knockout
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: odds for Canelo because that was kind of on your mind.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: It was, But then then then I didn't look again
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: because I thought, man, he's only it might as one
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: ninety five favorite, So.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: They're probably going to be as good as they can be.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Now if it's that close for a knockout, you know,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: rather than it being you.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Know right, you know, yeah, it might be close. I
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: mean maybe they think a.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Hundred for Crawford. Well, if it's that then that means
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the knockout odds are going to be better, you know,
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: right money right? Yeah, I mean you were think how
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: it works, you know, offered.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Moving up far enough. I mean I'm not saying I'm
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: making a prediction yet, but yeah, you would think that
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Canelo knockout wouldn't be a bad play. Yeah, I mean
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: it was.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: A fight eventually was better than it would you know.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was, and it's kind of almost changed
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: and motivationally for Canelo because yeah, we're all originally looking
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: at this fight being signed, and even Canelo himself talking like, well,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I'll get no credit if I beat that.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: Hang on, disrespectful, you know right, I mean you'll be
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: a disc So yeah, you know, you can't be saying, oh,
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: nobody expects me to or you know, everybody expects.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Me to win and nobody's assuming it. So minus one
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: ninety five where we are right now. So Canelo might
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: have some motivation that he did not have before that,
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: And what I want.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: To say, like Jamal Charlo was like a plus four
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: fifty plus five hundred plus five fifty somewhere in that realm.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I don't think it was higher than that, right, something
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, Yeah, I mean, you know, Crawford's a
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: damn good fighter. There's that. You can't deny that. And
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: he you know, he he'll fight at the pace that
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: canal's probably gonna set, which isn't really set in much
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: of a pace. Yeah, you know, so you start to go, huh, man,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: if he were you know, I don't know, it's it
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: seems like it's yeah, maybe they are judging recent fights too.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: But then you could say the same thing about Crawford.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: And his like, you know, thirty eight. It's really shocking
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: because Crawford's thirty eight.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and didn't look all that great at fifty four
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: in this first fight, you know.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: For the odds to be that tight, and they were today.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: I looked at him again today they've stayed to say,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: but the minus one ninety five canal that that was
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: your salker though.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Yeah, this is that's kind of interesting. Yeah, like you said,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I mean, I just don't know how that it's not
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: set yet, which is just like, what are we doing here,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Like what he's going to be done? The damn fighting
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: until you got it set, Like this is silly, you know,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: this is boxing one on one. In fact, we're we
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: it looks like we're going through that with the low
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: pezant Haini that they announced the date and it's all, actually, no,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: it's not like what wait what you just said? It
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: was signing, Like, what's going on? He didn't sign the contract.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: Yet, so they announced they announced the date. Today the
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: ring is announcing the date, and then the rings and
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: you know, the rings got to know, yeah, exactly. They're
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: saying it's off. It's not odd.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: So they're saying he literally turned it down but then
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: agreed to all these terms. It's like, so he got
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: to the last second they sent them it and then
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: he's like, nah, we're good. Like it's just I don't know.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: I hate public negotiations, man, Like, if you if you
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: want to say, hey, you're negotiating, cool, we feel like
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: we're making good progress, you know, be real political with it,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: you know, do not turn it into some circus because
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: most of the time that shit doesn't happen. You know
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: and so, and it gets people pissed up, and then
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: it like furthers you may be making a lot of
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: good fights, but it furthers the narrative of oh the best,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: don't fighting the best. Oh look at this, you know,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: and it's just kind of like another fight down the draying,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: you know. And it's just so, I don't know.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Part of it's because there's not enough matchups left that
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: appeal to US sensibilities. That's that's where we're really in
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: danger in the US is you know these recent fights
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Turkey's talking about. He's trying to put the US sensibilities
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: guys against each other, and there's difficulties, it's not coming off.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: And you know, you had that bad time square card,
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: So yeah, like like we're running out of fights with
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: US sensibilities that are even gonna sell. It's it's it's
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: bad in that sense. It's bad.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Well, and you know, out of tail female's own mouth,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: he said he would get eleven mil for the fight,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: right out of his own mouth. So it's like, so
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: what's the problem then, Like what's going on? Like, tell
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: have a presser right now and tell us why it's
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: not done or is it bullshit, come out and say
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: it's bullshit, then it's gonna get signed or something. Just
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: that's why I don't like get public negotiations because I'm
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: asking him now to come out and say something. But
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: it should be all behind closed doors in the beginning,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Now it's just like saving face.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: So whatever that way Hani fought in his last fight.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's difficult for me to the picture.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: You know, we don't know if this is gonna come off.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: I mean as of now, it's not.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: But it's hard where Hani was at, you know, in
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: this last performance against ra Mirror is it's hard to
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: picture him throwing many punches at a guy like tia
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Fimo Lopez who's capable of herd. I mean, even fighting
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: whatever weight they're going to fight at, whether it be welterweight,
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: you know, or whatever. But I think I still think
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: tia Fimo's probably got enough offense he can hurt you,
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: and that that would seem to have HAINI real cautious
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: the way you know he looked last time out.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and that said Tail is not the same guy
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: coming forward either, you know now, So it's stylist like
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: on paper as far as just hey, that's a solid fight,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: let's see it. I think that's for sure. But you know,
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: if you look at the style matchup, maybe it's best
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: that's gonna be in Sadi if.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: It happened exactly. No, it's not the it's not the
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: best style matchup in the world.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just a really legitimate fight where you're like, okay,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: this is the let's do it, you know.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: But yeah, and try and trying to put the few
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: guys in the US who really have.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yes we're speaking names, and yes, that's exactly what it is.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: And you put that in New York, it probably do good,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: you know, do really good, as long as you didn't
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: do it in the street, you know, if you put
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: it in an arena, because they do have arenas in
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: New York too, you know. But other than that, yeah,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: we'll see how that works. Well, since we'reund the news topic,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: it appears that Fulton and Foster it's it's being reported
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: pretty solidly that it got finalized.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, two good fighters. Don't personally not crazy about
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: the style matchup. I mean, Fulton's not going to hurt
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: anybody at one hundred and thirty pounds. He doesn't hurt
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: anybody anyway. It's coming off a really good performance. But
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Foster is not a puncher generally. I mean, there'll be
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: some punch is thrown, but.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Well, yeah it's not They're not gonna only throw three
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: hundred punches in a fight. But yeah, I hear what
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you're saying.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's not gonna be any heavy artillery. Not
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: gonna be any heavy artillery in the fight, right, but
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: two good fighters. Yeah, it looks like does look like
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: that's gonna happen as of today.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's very intriguing just because of how,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: you know, just solid, solid fighters. Yeah, exactly, Like you know,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: it's quality fighters. So it's good, it's pretty. It's gonna
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: be hard for me to uh not be happy at
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: a fight like that being made. Doesn't mean it's gonna
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: be the fight of the year, no, but I think
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: the more solid fights, solid fighters fighting each other, it's
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: really hard for me to complain about it. Now. We
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: may talk about the style matchup, but overall, I really
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: like that fight overall. So this weekend we have we
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: have a heavyweight fight, which I have you know, I've
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: heard some folks looking at the underdog number and jumping
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: on it. But you know, obviously Wardley is the favorite.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: But you look at uh Hooney is like plus two
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: sixty plus three hundred. Actually, I hadn't seen that. I
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: hadn't seen a three hundred just yet. Now there's a
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: three hundred plus two fifty. Like I think Fabio Wardley's
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: gonna win the fight, but there might be an upset.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: I just don't know if I trust the chin of
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: the you know, the the it's not really a late
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: replacement actually, because it's been there for a while. I
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: don't know if he was on the card or not.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: But what do you think of this matchup? In just
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: in general? I see some folks really looking at this
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: might be an upset. I don't know. Wardley kind of
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: does bring it sometimes other side like you'll shock you
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: and be like, oh wow, that was quick, and then
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: other times you're like, eh, I don't know. He's kind
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: of up and down. What do you thought. You think
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: there's a chance or an upset, or you think that
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: the odds are maybe a little too close Wardly, he's.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: He's kind of but not really in all that bad
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: of a way and surprising with the no amateur pedigree whatsoever.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: No amateur you know, like he can fight in some
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: different styles, which makes it where you never know exactly
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: what you're getting with him. I mean, you've seen him
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: box some we've seen him just straight out blow people away,
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: like in the Clark rematch.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, which I didn't see that coming at all.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: No, But but there's other fights he's brawled. But then
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: you see him box and some. I've liked the guy,
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: as you know. I mean, he kind of won me
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: over early on. I'm like, you know, this guy, every
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: time I see him, I kind of like them, and
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: for me, with his career, it's just continued that way.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: So he's already a guy like you know, on one hand,
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: you always feel like you are taking a risk relying
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: on him because he's got no amateur experience to fall
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: back on, which you know helps you in the pros
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: when you have a guy who really had a lot
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: of amateur fights, you know, has those fundamentals to fall
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: back on. I mean, wardly doesn't have that, But I
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: just like what he's done. And the argument in a
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: favor of a guy like him, if he keeps getting
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: by winning and looking good, is his upside might be higher.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Because he doesn't have any amateur right. In other words,
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: he can get better, he could develop. Sometimes pro scouts
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: and other sports look at it that way. You have
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: somebody who maybe wasn't playing all the time since they
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: were five. It's a different evaluation. But they've got the
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: higher upside if they start to show some flashes, because
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: they can develop even it's later on. So I think
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Wardley's like that in boxing because he's looked good to me.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: He's really like a legit top ten guy now. So
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna stay with him because I've liked him. I
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: don't know exactly all, you know, if it goes all
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: the way to the top. But then on the other hand,
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: I mean, Usik's thirty eight years old. I mean, even him,
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: you know, nobody, nobody can last forever. And you know
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: he's probably not that we've seen it necessarily, but he's
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: probably getting near the end. Yeah, you know, he's undefeated.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: You know, his volume for him is dropping a little bit.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: I've noticed. All I'm saying that is that there's gonna
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: be an opening. You know, there's gonna be an open there.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: It's about to be wide open, right, And I'm not
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: picking on him but like I'll stay it because I
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: feel confident in it. And you know, usiks getting old,
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: But I mean, like, I'm not on this Joe Parker bandwagon.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Like Joe Parker became Muhammad Ali because he beat a
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: few older guys and Bacoli on one day's a fat
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: Bacoli on one day's notice. Right, You know, Parker is
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: always solid. I've always said that about him. He's always
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: going to be legit top ten. But you know we're
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: talking about now the very top. Even now, I'm still like,
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: I don't I don't think he's necessarily that. So why
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: it ties in the wardley for me is he's already
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: legit top ten and that that very top the real
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: championships probably get near going to be open because Usik's age.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: You know, it doesn't mean he doesn't get by Dubuan
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: to rematch, but it might be tough for him in
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: the rematch, and even if he gets by, you know,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: is he going to want to keep going? That was
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: another thing that came out today. This one I did
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: say within the last year, and it was in today's
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Boxing news. In the Boxing News. Now Usik is saying,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: give me Jake Paul okay, today, So I did. I
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: did suggest that one within the last year. Like I said,
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: you know, yeah, maybe it takes about in two rounds,
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: but people want to see Paul get knocked out, especially
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: a lot of boxing fans. You can sell me. You
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: can sell it because it is for the title. It's
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: for the heavyweight championship of the world. So I can't
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: say I blame him with the money and the ease
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: it would be for him. But Usik as of today,
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: he's apparently on board with that because he's saying, give
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: me Jake Paul and today they were talking about.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: It, so right, I wonder what Jake Paul thinks that. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I don't know that, yeah yourself.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: You know, maybe it's a big step up from Chavez
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Jujior to Usik, but yeah, maybe maybe he's gonna wait
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: and see how that goes for him.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, yeah, I mean it would be a damn
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: good cash out, that's for sure.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: It's a good cash out though, And I think in
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: a weird way, you can sell it and people want
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: to see it. Even Jake Paul is going to go
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: out in thirty seconds because there's a lot of people
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: want to see that.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, exactly, yep. And people that believe in him,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: you know, you know, whatever he says, they're gonna believe. Like,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: you know, he said he was gonna fight Canal and
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: his way up and he you know, it's just it's
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: just funny, it's crazy.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: But there's always somebody that's gonna believe for some reasons.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Of course, yeah, there's always there's always somebody that's gonna
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: believe for some reason. That's why you could sell it to.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Right and the hoony dude. You know, I remember the
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Tabidi fight, I remember the Loraina fight, but before that
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: and after that, you know, it's like he it just
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: doesn't seem like he's kept going up opponent wise, and
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: I think that does hurt him. I just I kind
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: of wanted to breeze by you because I have noticed
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: that I just don't know if he holds up. I
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: really don't, so I'm not picking him either, But I
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: just noticed people saying, hey, this is it's gonna be
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: an upset. So I'm just just kind of eye in
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: it a little bit. But yeah, I think Fabio Wordley
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: is is gonna win. And you know, I wouldn't be
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: shocked by a knockout but yeah, some some UK fans.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I got a couple of messages in the last couple
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: of days saying, hey, watch out for this, But I
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: don't know, I don't really believe in Hooney. Maybe if
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: that competition level would have kept going up right, you know,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: and he would have shown the same thing, you're like,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: oh wow, it's you know, But I just the odds
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: are closer than I thought it would be, though I'll
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: say that.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I didn't it didn't catch my eye too, because I like, overall,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: I'd liked the way Wardley's been fighting, and I thought
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: saying like, whoa, you know, minus three forty is not
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: a huge favorite.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean underdog in the two hundreds. It's like,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: that's not a huge underdog, you know, for for boxing,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: that's for sure. So Delonte Johnson is stepping up against
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Bokach Abdullah, Mason is going against Nakathila. I think I
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: am picking a minor upset with all Bright over Davis.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I could see that being a that's a competitive fight.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: And then you have Keishan Davis uh going fighting back
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: in Norfolk, Virginia taking on Edwin de los Santo's which
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I know when this was announced to talk about. You
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: weren't too crazy about this fight. You know, it is
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: a measuring stick, I will say that, but it is
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: a difficult measuring stick because De la Santos has the
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: capabilities to be you know, to to stall the fight
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: and to not be able to you know, you can
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: kind of look bad even though you may win it cleanly.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Here like at the end, you're like, eh, it really
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: wasn't a good performance. Now was that all your fault? No, however,
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: why didn't you do something? And that type of thing.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong, there are times where fighters
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: just can't cut off the ring. I'll give you that,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: but there's plenty of times where people say that and
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, but it's hard to cut off the
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: ring on some guys if they're really just you know,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: going stalemate in a sense. But what are your thoughts
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: just in general of this card or you know, abdual
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Mason actually is in a decent step up, Not that
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I think you'll lose or anything, but I like, I
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: think Davis is obviously going to win. But I do
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: kind of like Delante Johnson. I like their opponents. I
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: like the undercard opponents because I think they do represent
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: a step up regardless of the outcome. I guess you
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: could say.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Yeah, this, I mean it's kind of like been as
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: we're nearing the end of it now unfortunately, reminds you
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: of kind of the some of the pluses and minuses
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: of what top ranks and with the deal nearing the end,
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: obviously now.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Is it one more?
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: I think there's one more, maybe one more afternoon with
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: so you've got the good part. I think, yeah, that's right,
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: mel and Neck. He's got a fight coming up and
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: they're gonna have what the zion.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the fifty four Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: you're right, that's the last one, zays yeah.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: And then so you got the plus is like I
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: think Keishawn Davis and Abdullah Mason are the type of
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: guys that top ranks should want to get exposure and
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: you know, get American fans looking at and into I mean,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: I think between those two guys in Carrington, I mean
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: here at the end, those are three guys that are
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: good to build up. So that part of my favor.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: But I did feel like I called this going in
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: because the odds makers don't have these like Abdollah Mason's
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: a massive favorite, and so is Keishan Davis. But Mason's
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: an even bigger favorite favorite, and you know, not even
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: close odds. And so this is your national telecast. Again,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: A fan can't tune it in and expect a competitive fight.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: I mean maybe one they get one by surprise. But
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: that's the problem with you know, your then marketing. It's
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: like it's it's not something they can expect and unless
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: you got punchers, like Mason is kind of near being
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: that kind of guy, like you know, Mike Tyson knocking
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: everybody out, you know, George Foreman. Matter. But but the
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: thing that that we don't get enough nowadays that you
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: did get with like a Tyson a Foreman, because I'd
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: like to see this and I feel like Mason has
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: that kind of capability out of those three guys, especially him,
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Like in other words, as fans are fans tuning in,
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: like when he does that, like blows away a credible opponent,
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: even you know, above an Akathila level at this point,
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: Like that's then when people do whoa whoa, you know,
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: like this guy was credible, you know, he was a legit,
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: you know, near you know, top ten guy or near
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: the top like legit, you know, not like alphabet stuff
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: like and and Mason just blew him away, Like that's
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: when people get excited about you. They want to see
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: you more like to me, yeah, you can get a
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: highlight reel and social media now and stuff that helps you.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: But these aren't quite on that level for both of
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: these guys, like where it would really get fans excited,
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: like if they had that kind of performance. So that
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: that's that's the down that's the downside is not really
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: competitive action. I mean, I think these are the right
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: guys to be featuring and you know, you could say closer,
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: we know who these opponents are, but where they're at
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: right now, it's it's not at that level where it's
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: really an eye opener for the fan that really really
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: gets excited. You can get some excitement, but not that
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: real level where this has been the problem with the
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: top ranked deal Like and as we're getting near the end,
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: this does fit it like Okays fight Acathila and Dissentos
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: is going to fight he Sean Davis, but then it
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: leads to nothing. It leads to like them inflating some
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: alphabet fight against another guy that's not competitive, like if
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: the deal was continuing, that's what you kept getting. And
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: that really was a big problem with what top rank did.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: It just never it just never led to and and
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: this is kind of like it's ending that way to me, Like,
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: you know, it's not like they're doing this and then
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Mason and and Davis are going to fight next or
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: something like we're not. You know, just that just never
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: happened with this deal, and that in him.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: And Secure, you know, swore it pretty early that they
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: were going to fight each other. So that was the bat.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: Even though you know, Score is not with them anymore,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: he was with them for obviously quite a long time. Yeah,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: that's a good point because I think that, like I
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: was saying, we know the guys, but you know, that's
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: just watched the sport more closely. But to your point,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: it's it's you know, and that's why I kind of look,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: I guess I've been not necessarily numb to it, but
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: they're the matchmaking in recent you know, whatever years, not
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: just five or anything like that, for quite a while.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: There's time I think I've lowered my standards some time
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: in a sense because it's like, okay, well this does
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: see this is a step up. But to your point,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: it's not, uh, this makes you a full on contender,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: step up. You know where you're gonna be ready for
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: a big fight now, you know because you did it right.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: So to your point, that is well set because most
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: of those fights are you know, odds wise, pretty wide
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: and you know, so style it See. I think De
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: los Santo's is a is a is a is a
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: legit opponent. But I do think it's gonna be an issue.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: And people say, oh, you can't slip up against against
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: him because he has power.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: He does have some power, some power.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, at least do you think he's just gonna play spoiler?
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Is that? Is that what's gonna happen? And then Keishan
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: is gonna look bad doing it because he can't you know,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: because it's a stalemate or you know.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: I think when it comes I think what these types
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: of fights come down to is this. I I don't
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: think del Santos will probably have that spirited of an effort,
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: but where to me it can develop into the stinking
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: and out kind of thing is more like if then
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Keishawn Davis, who does have some pop but and boxing skill,
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: starts saying like, well you know, Delos Santos has some pop.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: He's not doing much, but you know, I don't want
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: to take any risks here he can hurt you, and
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: then it doesn't really go to put any hurt on
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: him and just just cautious over the twelve rounds that
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: that's that's what we get too much of.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: And then like you said, it doesn't lead to anything,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: so okay, and then right like when you just look
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: at him at the way class you rank them and
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: stuff like that. But to your point, it's not going
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: to lead to anything per se, right, I mean, you
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: know that's the thing. I mean, there was I said
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: never before it didn't lead to anything enough. Like I mean,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: there are high points were like Ta Femo fighting Josh Taylor,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: Ta Femo fighting Lomachenko, but you know that that was
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: those were really fights, you know, but yeah, but.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: There was just wasn't enough. Too too much of what
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: they did did led to nothing.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and in like you know, the like you said,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: the infomercial type broadcasting, right, you start to get uh,
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: the pump up these guys and then it's just it's
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: like a bridge to nowhere, like that old political term,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: you know, bridge nowhere and it's like, well, or they
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: get exposed and you're like, god, you just got done
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: telling me that this guy for two years is you know,
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: some boogieman and then he fights a real fighter and
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: he's really not that much of a boogeyman at all.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: So then then people are even further down on that guy.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: I don't know, it's kind of weird now.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: Problems with these kind of matchups, like because you know,
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: like they're all doing it, but like you know, I always,
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: like myself, I had always kind of liked show test
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: to tour, but now he's doing it just like all
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: of them, like because it's like typical what you'll get
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: Saturday night. Then so Abdullah Mason, who I do love too,
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: very entertaining guy, but still Nakathila, you know, got blown
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: away by Attia, so that was kind of like, you know,
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: let the air out of his balloon of being dangerous.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: But then we'll get like, now Mason's a minus twenty
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: four hundred favor or whatever, and he'll take out Nacathila
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: and three and Joe Testator will be screaming like a madman.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: That's the that's actually like a problem now, you know, like, yeah,
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: it's your product. But but come on, you know, don't
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: treat us like idiots. I mean, the guy's a minus
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: twenty four hundred favorite. You know he's supposed to be
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: doing that the way you've set up this matchup, so
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: like you know, you gotta, you gotta, you should be
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: commentating and honestly, like like that's that's where you're missing.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Like if it was somebody else in a boxing world
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: we don't have right now who was more of a threat.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: And maybe Mason was, you know, a solid favorite but
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: not a big favorite. Then he did that in test too,
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: was screaming. We'd be screaming with him. But that's not
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: what That's not what we get, you know, that's just
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: not what we get.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and I agree with Tessatura now compared to when
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: he was on Friday Night Fights, you know, and the
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: way Friday Night Fights was set up down the stretch
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: of it anyway, was there was not one promoter that
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: had all these deals, you know what I mean. It
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: was sometimes it'd be some you know, kind of a
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: random fight, but it was a championship fight. And it's like, okay,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: well these guys aren't good enough to be on HBO
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: or showtime. But this is a good fight, like okay,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: you know, but it was a lot more non biased.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: It was more straight up because they didn't have a
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: platform that only has that promoter on it too, you know.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: I think that obviously plays into it. And it seems
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: like just in every walk of this type of stuff, entertainment, politics,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: now it's like what you say, and people are saying
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: stuff that sometimes I don't even believe they believe it,
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: but it's gonna say something, So it's gonna grab some traction,
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: you know, and you'll be when they show highlights of
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: the guy, You're gonna be the guy screaming. You're the
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: narrator of the guy screaming. So hey, that's me, you know.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And I've seen younger fans. This is a difference,
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: like in fairness to a little bit to these guys.
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: I don't like it, but I do see a generational
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: thing here. You're and it's like what you've described ris like,
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: you know, there's I'm trying to think of what age
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: I would start it at, but like there's an age
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: of fan of all sport. Like if you're not screaming
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: and then it's highlight clip, they're like what the hell's
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: the matter with this guy? There was just a knockout
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: and he just didn't scream. He just was just talking.
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: Like our football, there is a touchdown and the guy's
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: just talking like you gotta scream like an idiot. There's
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: a certain generation of fan who's like, what's wrong with
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: this guy?
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: And I noticed that once they started showing highlights of
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: a guy. That makes a guy like, let's say in basketball,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: all right, he breaks his ankle, but they don't show
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: the shot because the shot didn't go in. John, so
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: that doesn't count. In our day, that wouldn't have come.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: That was a fancy move, but you didn't get the bucket,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: so ultimately you need to get the free throw line.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: So you just missed the shot. It was cool, but
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: you didn't finish the play. Well, nowadays they'll put the
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: just that clip doesn't matter what the hell happened on
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: the actual play. It's just that guy twisted his ankle.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Ha ha ha. You know I see that way too
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: often where you're just like, I mean, he didn't finish
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: the damn play. Who cares, you know? But yeah, that's funny.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: But I, like I said, I do think speaking of
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: closely matched fights, and once this fight got made the
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Albright he's only a plus one ninety four plus. Actually
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Betwey has him plus one sixty three to Calvin Davis.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I'm actually picking the upset with Allbright. I like what
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: I've seen on him. But yeah, does it just kind
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: of feel like they got some young fighters on it.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: They got some guys that are entering their prime, like
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: Keishaan Davis, and it's just kind of like maybe a
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: step up from a showcase the fight like Delante Johnson
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: and and you know, in Bokachka, I think that this
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: fight would have happened a little while ago when Bokachka
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: still had a well dude on show box or this
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: on that you know, it does.
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: Was he was in some decent fights.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: He was, but it's it's like the timings off on
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: it to actually think it's gonna be a great win
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: once again, the lowering of the standard of well that
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: is technically John a step up fight for him, but
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: how you know, is it a full step, is it
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: a half a step? You know that that's where that
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: kind of that kind of plays into it.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: I think a step up like has to be where
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: where we feel like there's a legitimate threat that the
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: guy they're stepping up against could beat him, you.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Know, yeah, real hard on him and make it real
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: hard on them.
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not enough right there. There are steps up,
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: but not big enough. But you make a good point
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: in the favor at least because we don't get that
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: much anymore. That at least on an undercard you have
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: some closer odds fights, which frankly, we rarely get nowadays.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's pretty crazy speaking the top Rank.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: You know, the they say there's up to forty events.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: What does that mean taking place here? Does that mean
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: using some of the UK feed? You know, we don't
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: know exactly. But they also say multiple platforms. You know,
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: there is rumors speaking of HBO and they're going to
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: go back to the name instead of Max. It's like,
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: that's just funny to me.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: It's like they are going back to the name. But
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: I'm I've been skeptical Top Rank because I've been following
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: it close to some insiders were like, Oh, they'll be fine,
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: this is all going to work out, But I feel
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: we're too far down the line, Like they keep saying
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: it's going to be multiple platforms, we've got stuff set up.
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: I've they have not specifically announced anything right zero And
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: and you know the state boxing's in in the US,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: especially right now, I've become skeptical that I'm like, I'm
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: not buying all the way in, Like I got a.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: Feeling Investments is not right there like it was, you know.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: Right, I got a feeling they don't have My feeling
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: would be that like right now, they don't have anything set.
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: I mean now it might get set.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: But beyond the zone or something like that.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: But I'm gonna say, right for now, yeah, I'm not
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: I'm not convinced they've got something set right now.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: I could see them being able to go to the zone,
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: you know, right, but yeah, you know, so that's is
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: that there is that kind of like laying in the
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: cut and they're trying to get other deals, you know,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: are they trying you know, yeah, I've been I've been
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: a little in between on it too. Like you're just
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: like you talk about you're gonna go maybe back to
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: HBO Max and okay, that'd be great, you know sweet,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: you know, and T n T is wrapped up in
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: that and.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: You could see a T n T HBO Max Combo.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Yeah, they're they're losing the NBA, right, they have some
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: money hanging around.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: You could see. You can't see that, right.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: I mean that they did dabble.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: They did dabble with them before they got the ESPN
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: the last Days on HBO.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: That's right, because they did. They did. They did a
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: couple of those events. I remember that. Yeah.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: I think a couple of cars were Okay.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they're on like Thursdays or something like that.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: They were one of them is doing to Yeah, you're
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: right about that. That that looks good. Yeah, I just
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: wonder because you know, we we asked questions here, we
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: talked it through. We're realistic. We tried to throw a
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: bunch of stuff on the wall and see what sticks.
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: People didn't have a problem when we were saying that
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: stuff about the PBC and what's next for them or
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: where their current deal is and all that. But you know,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: every time I bring up top rank, I'll get a
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: message oh this that, and you know it's like, dude,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: we're just hey man, we you know, we talked about
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: the end of the deal a long time ago, and
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: we don't want it to happen. But the writing appeared
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: to be on the wall, and obviously it is now.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: So I just think that they'd be able to if
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: they were so comfortable they'd already they'd be able to
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: stay on the deal. Maybe. But ESPN has cut back
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: a lot. I will say that because they're invested heavy
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: in college football.
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: Now they're dropping baseball. They're dropping baseball, yep. I'll keep
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: that in mind, like, yeah, okay, they're getting out of boxing,
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: but they're dropping baseball.
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: Yes, yep. And that's still And we saw a good
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: example of this speak in baseball when we came out
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: of COVID. Well they had to, they had Fox had
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: to make sure baseball was okay before boxing. You know,
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: they they had a much larger investment, but you know,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: way more responsibility. We got to show all these Saturday
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: night and then all of a sudden that went to
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: the side. You know. So yeah, I mean, you hope
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: for the best man HBO, Max tn T that would
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: be phenomenal, but it.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: Would probably be good with the history and TNT's kind
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: of got an opening and they've been putting a lot
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: into sports.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: In recent years.
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, they they got the French open now, you know,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: they they bought some of those. They bought what two
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: games or four games maybe in the first run of
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: the college football playoffs. They bought them from ESPN because
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: they know they're going to lose the NBA. So yeah,
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: we'll see where that goes. You know, I really hope
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: that it lands someplace because they they But then again,
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: you know, I hope, Oh, but what will they do
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: with that deal?
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: You know, that's when it always comes down to. He
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: sees the boxing exactly like getting a deal. Of course
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: you got to have it, but then you got to
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: do something with it too, exactly.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: And you just think, like, do they really have enough
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: fighters that forty dates are going to be really great?
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Now, maybe they would go back to the old school
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: double header or triple header, you know, and then off
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: stream that stuff, and so it wouldn't be a long
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: super long card and it would just be a good
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: double headers. I mean, you never know, you know, I
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: wouldn't be against that.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: Now. I think there's probably an opening to get back
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: to that. I've been thinking about that a lot.
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: And you know, I think people got like us hardcores
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: got so many people got happy that they're able to
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: see all the fights and there's something to be said
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: about that.
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: There is, you know, things change. You can't totally say
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: there's not a place.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: For right, but I think it's hidden on the fucking
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: app is where I think those places need to be,
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: because you and I will check it out. But when
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: you're on something and it's five to six hours, no
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: one's gonna give a shit about those fights.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: Man, that's actually going to do more damage than good.
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: You know, it's starting to do more. It's starting to
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: do more damage. It has, it really has because people
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: even with this main card thing, which frankly took from
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: the UFC, and I don't even like that stuff. Forget
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: even main card. Just separate out what what they're calling
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: the prelims now, right, that doesn't even have to be
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: the same night or anything, and you know, just just
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: have your double triple header max, you know, of quality
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: matchups really want to see. Yeah, and then tell everybody
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: exactly when it's gonna start. Yeah, you know, you know,
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: even when the main event is going to start, stop,
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: you know, trying to you know, people with it into
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: watching more than they want to because yeah, these I
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: thought about that too, like like we said, and I agree,
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: like you can't really make an argument, Oh, you shouldn't
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: televise it at all, you know, working the old days,
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: like like really what the equivalent of what you had
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: in the old days? But I'm looking back on this,
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: there's some value to it, was like, and they weren't
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: doing it into like a crooked bias way. They were
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: doing it in kind of a quality control way. Like
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: for example, like let's say at NBC Sports World showing
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: fights like before the two guys that they're that were
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: going to fight on Sports World, you know, like got
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: on there on that matchup. Like the boxing control person
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: for the network was like was watching all the stuff
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: we watched now like you know what I mean?
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: Whatever, they have eyes on it, right hey look right then.
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: They decide this guy is ready to be on Sports
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: World against me? Yeah right, like not with a just
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: a guy that's a terrible matchup and the guy's attack
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: out like a like a real matchup. Like in other words,
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: they're both fourteen to know, yeah, now that we're putting
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: together on sports like not that everybody had to watch
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: them against these no hopers for fourteen fights like I
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: could these six hour cards. But like we're saying, like
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: what you could do nowadays, like you said, like on
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: an app or something like have have like we let
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: a hardcore know when those are on if you want
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: to really really watch them, but they're on their own separately.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: They're not holding up any other cards or anything like that. Like,
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: but that was like the old job of like the
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: boxing guy at the network.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: M that's just like and even before all these apps
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: popped up and streaming popped up as far as on
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: a platform, bigger platform with a lot of money behind
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: it and networks money sometimes behind it, like Top Rank
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: on their website did stream the other card? You know,
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: they would they would stream him. Golden Boy did the
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: same thing. Like so I remember Showtime having that uh
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: what did.
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: They call it?
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: Man, I forgot what they called it, but it was
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: that type of thing where it was it was before
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: but no, you know, not a lot of people pay
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: attention to it. But there was like two three fights
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: and you're like, okay, these guys are like a it
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: was like special edition where it's above show box, but
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: there was something to the actual fight at least one
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: of the fights or whatever. But but it wasn't it
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: wasn't waiting five hours to get to the card and right,
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: and it's like, you know, I don't I get why
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: hardcores like it, but I think you have to look
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: outside of that. Obviously, you can't just be so selfish
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: to be like oh.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: I and and I get it.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: I get why people look, we get to see every thing,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: but you know, that kind of messes up our prospect
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: to contender stuff too, because before we wouldn't see this
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: guy falter in this against that right exactly, you know, right,
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: and it kind of throws us off, you know, yep.
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I'm in the just wait until they go against a
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: really quality fighter that I know is a quality fighter.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: I'm not gonna have too much of an opinion, you know,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna do to that.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: I know, I'm almost going back to it doesn't mean
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: everything old was better, but I've been thinking exactly that though,
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Like I can't make the argument for not televising them
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: at all, but I think maybely what we want to
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: get back to a little more as fans is right,
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: like you know, they're really the networks, you know, should
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: be doing that quality control and then we could just
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: like trust that if it was ideally executed where like again,
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: one guy's fourteen and oh now and the other guy's
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: twenty and one or something, and then they're determining, Okay,
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: now this is in with our two main fights that night,
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: because this is going to be a good one, and
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: that may be the first you're seeing them, but they're
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: fighting a real fighter. It's not a no hope. And
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: then you evaluate there as a fan rather than sit
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: there through these six hour cards and like you said,
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: a lot of times the guy stumbles anyway and ends
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: up not being that good, and you know, you put
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: You've put time into that, so it's like.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, they put time.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: We put time, put time, right, Yeah, better to have
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: like a screener. And then when you're at a certain
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: level of quality, you start showing I mean, you know,
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: you hate saying it, but in a certain way, I
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: mean that is the way the UFC is working, in
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: the sense of like you.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: Make the UFC, like so yeah, yeah, you know, build
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: it up.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: And then so like you've already had to kind of
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: like make the ufcafore you're shown like they're not you know,
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: like that they're determining who's going to make the UFC.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: In other words, and then you've see the guy.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: So because remember HBoL coach from showtime, you know, oh
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: you're okay, you're ready to be an HBO fight. That's
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: what it was. Obviously they and then HBO got to
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: the point where like, oh that was a great fight,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: we'll take the rematch, you know, like, and that always
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: didn't work for him. But and don't get me wrong,
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: there were plenty of fighters that were good enough and
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: high level enough to be on HBO. You know, that's
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: not what we're saying. They're definitely they definitely missed great fights,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: you know, by only having a certain amount. But this
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: was the this was the most popular top of the
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: line stuff. So I did like like like when everyone
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: got deals, then then it was like how many cars
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: do we have? You know, And that's when it got
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: really watered down. And so the mid level fight for
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: a while while was like, Wow, these mid level fights
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: are getting attention. This is great, and these are good
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: competitive fights that are casual. But like, but it just
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: it's just so much of it now, And there's times
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: where I'll be sitting on the side and be like, oh,
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: that's right, that's this weekend.
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: Holy shit, you know, And he just reminded me. Like
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: Steven Espinosa, who's obviously was at the top of it.
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: He even said like five years ago, and he's right,
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: it's just basically what you're saying. Chris, Like he was
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: right about this. He felt like the casual fan in
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: part what was gone because the casual fan had no
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: idea what to watch at this point. And and you know,
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: that's like what you're saying, Like, you know, a casual
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: seeing all these cards and all this prelim and and
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: all these six cards, and the casuals like, who am
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: I supposed to be watching here?
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: Who's supposed to be good?
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: And all they got to do is see a few
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: boring fights or no hopers and casual you know.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: And they're like, hey, it's a tight game fourth corner.
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's getting the casual fan.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's yeah, it's a we're in a we're
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: in a weird spot right now. It's kind of like
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: this year's been like either really good or like, oh boy,
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: this is we got you know, like after this weekend,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: it does drop off until July, you know, and even
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: the Jake Paul Chavez Junior, like say what you want
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: about that fight? They are filling in some undercard fights
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: that I'm like, at least there's something there. I'll give
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: him credit there. But uh yeah, it's been kind of
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: like a hurry up and wait, you know type of
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: year where you're just like, oh my god, this is
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: great for two or three weeks, and then it's like, okay,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: oh that was pretty good. Oh that undercard is pretty good.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and then it oh yeah, I like this,
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: and then it just kind of falls back and it's
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: been a weird year. Hasn't been horrible by any stretch,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: but it's just been strange. And after this weekend, like
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: I said, some of the undercard fights, you know, intrigued me.
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: But yeah, it's until we get to July it does
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: get it gets a little slow, you know.
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: Yeah, And I feel like this year we're missing and
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: it's part of where the sports at not enough fights
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: where you're just like plain old you see the matchup
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: and you're like, oh, that that's a good fight. You know,
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: I need to I need to see that. You know
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: that that's a hell of a fight. I mean we're
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: not we're not getting a lot of those. I mean,
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: I like Usik du Bois too. I Mean we just
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: saw recently. But I do like the fight, but so
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: like it doesn't have us sensibilities. But I mean, like,
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: that's that's a good fight. Not that many you're not that.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: Many of the tailors Toronto on Netflix. That'll be a
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: good night. You know, you know it's gonna be a
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: good fight, and you know Netflix it's gonna do numbers.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: So that's rough. But yeah, it's it's just it's been
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: kind of weird, and you know there's something to be said,
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: and I know I'm gonna get some ship for this,
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: but you know, stack cards are great. However, if you
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: take some of those and make them in the main events,
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: it's like, okay, but man, it sure could last longer.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: I don't want shitty under cards, but do I need
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: five fights that I'm like, yeah, I think it's awesome
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: that night, but if you don't follow up on it,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: then it's like, damn, maybe we should have just had
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: that a triple header and then you know, scheduled a
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: month and a month or so. I don't know, it's weird.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: It's it's I think we're just in a weird time
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: where we're just thinking about all sorts of ship and
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: it's like I don't know, there's no like right answer
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: or what what what where is it gonna be? But yeah,
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: it's it's in a weird spot. And and people just
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: still don't get the Desonne thing where it's like even
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: if it has a ton of money behind it, it's
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: just you know, it's just not gonna I don't know.
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: I still can't believe they haven't made Canel Crawford as
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: far as we don't know where the fight is.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Like, yeah, that's that's really gotten talking about dropping the
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: fucking ball, you know, Yeah, that's gotten strange.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: And you know it's pretty well reported that there was
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: there was a deal for Netflix on the table. So
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: if he's now trying to get that back, okay, but
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: you shouldn't have dropped the ball on.
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: It then you know, like I don't know, Now, that's
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: what the that's what the sport needs, especially in the US.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and then that would be uh, you know, it
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: would be July and September on Netflix. You know, that's
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: pretty damn good, you know, right, And that would be
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: growth because those are real fights too. It's not what
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: it started out, as you know with the Tyson Paul,
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: but it grew into something where you're like, all right,
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: these are really good fights, and if you can return
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: some of that audience, that's a positive thing, you know.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: I mean where where you are in the US. You
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: know you got Taylor Sereno three on Netflix. If you
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: were to get Canalo Crawford on Netflix, that's huge for
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: boxing in the US where we're at now. And frankly,
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: in a desperate situation, but that's almost like what you need.
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: You need something like yeah, circus circus as it is,
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: or you take Paul right for the heavyweight title on
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: Thatflix like that. I mean, say what you will, but
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: we're desperate time. Desperate times called for desperate measures the
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: old Yeah.
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: And they didn't overdo it on the undercard of that
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: Paul Tyson, but now the cod features the main event,
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: and who's to say that that couldn't happen again, you know.
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: So it's actually a perfect example because that worked.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: That's exactly what it was. It was a circus on top,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: but it was money like it was really the last
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: two fights were very good before the main event. So yeah,
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: we'll see any other uh, any last words at all.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: I think that's about it.
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: Now. That's it, Chris. I think we think we got
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: it pretty well covered tonight.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: All right, Well, thanks for stopping in, and uh it's
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: nice that our you know, schedules lined up. My schedule
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: has been weird for Tuesdays. But uh, yeah, it was
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: good talking to you. You have a good night.
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: Good good talking to Chris. Get a good night's sleep
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: to night.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Yeah right, I'm gonna be up all right, all right,
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: I take care, Yeah right, have a good one. Yeah,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I have a going all right.
- 1:59:02Speaker 6: So just kind of following up a little bit like
- 1:59:08Speaker 6: I was saying, you know, the jab for Jamal Charlo
- 1:59:12Speaker 6: in that fight real quick?
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: Was was was landing really well?
- 1:59:16Speaker 5: Man?
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: And what was it? Like a corner slash doctor recommendation,
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: I think is what what was announced? I think I was,
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: oh yeah for Hernandez, see I was. I thought John
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: was making some good points, but I don't know. I
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: did think like maybe it's his temperament, but I thought
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: there was I did actually think Hernandez I wouldn't say
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: fully stepped on the gas, but you know, I thought
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: he was. Maybe It's just I really like Hernandez a
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: lot when he showed me I really liked I did.
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: I scored eight to four for Plant with Senda's I
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: was kind of about to get into that fight and
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: the body work, those right hooks. He buzzed Plant or
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: at least bothered them, hurt, buzz, bothered whatever it was.
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: He did that a couple times, and I remember, I
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: think it was between I think it was after the
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: sixth round. Breadman said the Plant. He's like, hey, if
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: you got to go low, go low, you know. And
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: I'm not hating on that, to be honest with you.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: Some people think that's dirty. But there were some low shots,
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: but there was just a lot of body shots from
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: the Sindis, So I thought that I really liked what
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: I saw to him. But I do think it may
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: have been kind of what we're saying with Plant, you know,
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: just fading. So hopefully Charlotte gets a big fight. It
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: would have been nice to see them, you know, fight.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: But yeah, Keishan Davis, I think he'll I think it
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: win by decision. I think Abdul we'll pretty much handle that.
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: I do want to see how good Delonte Johnson is
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: in that matchup, but I am picking the up the
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: minor upset with Albright now as far as like hang
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: on real quick here, all right, I had to. I
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: had to. I had to pause that really quick, having
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: little issues. But we're good. I think we're good. I
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: think we're good. So so I I do you know,
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: I'm pumped for Fulton Foster. I think that's just too
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: solid ass fighters man going at it and Fulton, you know,
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: re rejuvenating his career in that last fight. So I
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: think that's a great It sounds like that's gonna be
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: a co feature to a rematch, you know, from from
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: Davis and Roach. So I am looking forward to that
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: given my takes on tail Femo though, like and and honestly, like,
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: I'm not even online right now on Twitter, so maybe
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: he's come out. Maybe I should check that just in case.
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: Maybe he's come out and and said something, you know,
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: and said, no, that's not true. I haven't I just
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: didn't send back the contract or something. But you know,
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: like the thing that the Hans posted, if that is legit,
- 2:02:43Speaker 1: you know, and you know, and and that's they just
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: declined the fight, that would be really really wild. It's
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: you know, there is something and this is the first
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: thing that kind of came to mind, is like, you know,
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: people back in the day used to talk about the
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: Winkie Wright School of Boxing Business.
- 2:03:16Speaker 5: And someone actually texts me that it's like, you know,
- 2:03:24Speaker 5: I don't know, man, Like I just don't get it.
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: And I mentioned it to start the show about I
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: did think that clearly, you know, clearly that Boots, I
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: believe if that fight was on the table, which it
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: appears to be or appears that it was, you needed
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: to take that shut that fight. That was such a
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: that's such a good opponent for you, and it's big
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: money or whatever, you know, and and I don't know,
- 2:04:02Speaker 1: like the little message they put out this is this
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: this to gently advise you that this is to gently
- 2:04:12Speaker 1: advise you that tale female has withdrawn from the fight,
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: as we'd like to thank you for your efforts and
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: professoralism throughout the process. Like and like I said, out
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: of his own mouth, he said it was eleven million dollars.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: And you know he was saying to Turkey, hey man,
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: my bad. You know, I'm sorry, I should you know
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: clearly something was up. You know, the dictator line from
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: last week and all that, and then he kind of
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: went into peace mode like, hey bro, I'm just trying
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: to whatever he says, you know, make boxing great again.
- 2:04:55Speaker 1: It just to shtick. But if it turns out that,
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: first of all, it was supposed to be in Sadi
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: was it Sadi time, like, not a pay per view
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: or whatever, it was going to be here, because if
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: you were going to go head to head with the
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: PBC event, that's just silly. Now if you're gonna do
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: it during the day, you know, even doing a pay
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: per view during the day, I guess that would you know, whatever,
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: but maybe a twenty five dollars one. You can say, hey,
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: ours is twenty five, there's a eighty or whatever. But
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: like I said, I thought Boots Ennis should have taken
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: the Virgil Ortiz fight. He wanted to stay at forty seven. Well,
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: Boots gets to stay. He's the lineal So you can say, oh, unification,
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: that's great, but he's the lineal so like you already
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: got the lineal dude, it doesn't matter if you I mean,
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: I shouldn't say it doesn't matter. But ultimately, like if
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: you collect all the belts, man, that's awesome. Undisputed is phenomenal.
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: But we all know Tayo Femo is a better fighter
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: to fight right now. And you know, and I can
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: understand Lopez wanting that fight if he was gonna take it,
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: because you know, he'd have a chance to to be
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: a three time lineal champ. Like that's a big deal.
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: So I can see why that was on the table first.
- 2:06:22Speaker 1: And Boots is the one who turned it down, which
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: I don't agree with. I thought Boots should take that fight. However,
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: if the backup is hany and it sounds like you know,
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: and this is Devin Haney's words, the fight with Tao
- 2:06:39Speaker 1: is not signed. I signed my part. Tayo has been
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: staln as of today. He decided he doesn't want to fight.
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: He said he's the you know, official biggest duck or whatever,
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: and he said, I want you know, I wanted to
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: fight at forty seven. He wanted at forty So there again,
- 2:06:59Speaker 1: so you can fight Boots, who has more power than
- 2:07:05Speaker 1: you know. Now you can say, well, either way, he
- 2:07:09Speaker 1: has more power at forty seven, okay. So so you're
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: willing to go fight Boots because it was lineal, but
- 2:07:16Speaker 1: then not fight at forty seven just because lineal is
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: not on the line. Kind of strange, but whatever, you're
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: the champ at forty okay. So he said, we negotiated
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: to meet at forty five. Even though you know he
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: was willing to fight Boots at forty seven. So I
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: just don't understand why why he didn't want to. I mean,
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: I hate using the word duck, and you know, like
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: I really hardly ever used a you know, maybe adverse
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: instead of just a freight or whatever, but like to
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: not out of his own mouth, eleven million dollars to
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: fight Devin Hainey, who you know can be hit, right
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: and everyone could be hit I'm not saying that, but
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: you know there's holes in his defense. But you also
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: know you can't cut off the ring or whatever as well.
- 2:08:14Speaker 1: I don't know, but the whole I just if you're
- 2:08:17Speaker 1: out there saying you want Boots, he turned it down,
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: then all of a sudden you have a problem with
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: Turkey and then you delete and then you say, oh no, man,
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: I'm peaceful, dude. Just you know, my bad, my bad,
- 2:08:30Speaker 1: you know, and then you try to get the fight
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: and then it's like, nah, you're not getting the fight.
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: You turn if you turn down eleven million, like the
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: deal that you would have to have lined up to
- 2:08:44Speaker 1: turn down eleven million, like the guarantee three to five
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: fight deal that you'd have to line up to to
- 2:08:52Speaker 1: not fight for eleven million dollars. I don't get it.
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: I understand that it was lineal with boots, but holy shit, dude,
- 2:09:03Speaker 1: if tail female, I mean, it's really hard not to
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: call this a not to call it a duck, you know,
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: very hard not to call it a duck, because what
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: else would it be? You know, what else would it be?
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: And also we heard Nick Ball and Louis Neary was planned.
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: This came from Lacasa Boxing Club that that it was
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: planned for the undercard of Haini Lopez. So hopefully that
- 2:09:34Speaker 1: gets put someplace. They probably still have a card on
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: that date. But I don't know, man, It's this is
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: some serious drawn like what are you doing with your career? Dude?
- 2:09:47Speaker 1: That's what it was kind of funny when I saw
- 2:09:50Speaker 1: and I see h Android uppercut public negotiations with the
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: big you know emoji laughing. I mean, it's just and
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: then also him saying, and you know, career melpractice to
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: have this one on the same day as Tank Roath,
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: even on the same day at different times during the
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: afternoon and night, it's still kind of weird, you know,
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: it's still be kind of weird.
- 2:10:14Speaker 2: I just.
- 2:10:16Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I really don't know. Adrian Delgado
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: follow him at Adrian d eight nine two six before
- 2:10:26Speaker 1: we found out that it isn't happening that matchup, he said,
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: quick turnaround for both fighters. I like this matchup between
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: two boxers in their prime. Interesting matchup that I believe
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: slightly favors Hani due to his range, distance control. But
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: Lopez is so explosive counterpuncher, especially at the middle age.
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: Can't wait. That broke it down pretty well. And it's
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: a fight that is you know, it's very like it's
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: meaningful to these guys, man, And you know, I don't know, man,
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: I just I just yeah, I mean, if he turns
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: this it was if you turn this down, dude, Like
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not crazy about it being in Sadi,
- 2:11:08Speaker 1: but if it's that night, you might as well have
- 2:11:11Speaker 1: it in Sadi. But yeah, I just I don't know, man,
- 2:11:17Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm not a big they're all ducking
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: boogieman and all that shit. I think business makes the fights,
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: but it's like I see them out of Zoe's mouth
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: that Turkey offered him. You know, so what the fuck
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: is he gonna say? Now? You know, probably some stupid shit, right.
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: We know he's been really good at that. I did see.
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: Speaking of boxing just in general, this rue is from
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: Luki on boxing scene. Fenway Park to host the first
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: boxing event since nineteen fifty six. The Nolan Brothers Boxing
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: take the ambitious Leap as the regional boxing based promotion
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: to you know, have an ambisious card at the park.
- 2:12:04Speaker 1: So that's kind of cool, you know, I always like
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: different stuff. And also, the California State Athletic Commission did
- 2:12:11Speaker 1: rule a no contest. They voted unanimously on you know,
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: on the novarette Suarez thing. Obviously you'd wish it could
- 2:12:23Speaker 1: just be an actual decision, but excuse me, I didn't
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: think that was gonna happen. So I didn't really ever,
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: you know, I didn't really ever think like I thought
- 2:12:38Speaker 1: it would just be a no contest. And you know,
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: it sounds like the sanctioning belt is saying, let's have
- 2:12:44Speaker 1: a rematch, and really, so I think that's that's important there.
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: I think that's a good, good rematch fight. Other news,
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: No Donaire is returning to Fort June fourteenth at age
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: forty two against Campos. That's for some interim strap, so
- 2:13:07Speaker 1: you know, to each his own. You know, it is
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: what it is. Uh, you know, should don't never keep
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: fighting out? You know, probably not, but it is what
- 2:13:16Speaker 1: it is. This is a tweet from a few days
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: ago from Teo Female to his excellency. I take full
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: responsibility for my inappropriate words on the x app. I apologie.
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: I apologize to he His excellency is what that is.
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: I will conduct myself with a greater respect, humility of professionalism.
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sending love and light to all. Thank you
- 2:13:44Speaker 1: make boxing great again. And it is funny how you
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: know the reasons why, you know, like Turkey got mad
- 2:13:56Speaker 1: at him, not not for all the racist shit he
- 2:13:58Speaker 1: was doing, but he was mad because you know, the
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: dictators shouts out to Mike McCollum rip really you know
- 2:14:10Speaker 1: very uh, I don't know, to me kind of undervalued overall,
- 2:14:15Speaker 1: but big ass puncher as me.
- 2:14:17Speaker 2: No.
- 2:14:17Speaker 1: Also, I kind of forgot to mention this. Julius Caesar
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: Martinez could not continue. I think it was what the
- 2:14:26Speaker 1: eighth round, Munez looked like he you know, there was
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: some sort of forearm or arm, some sort of wrists,
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: some sort of injury there. And someone pointed out that
- 2:14:40Speaker 1: you know it was his first fight back from a PD.
- 2:14:44Speaker 1: You know thing I did like that Edgar Berlanga, Caleb
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: plant Pack smoking on the pat. That was pretty funny.
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: I will say that Matt from brunch Boxing during the
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: fight with one thing about bread Man, he will let
- 2:15:02Speaker 1: us fetter his ass beat like he took the fight,
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: like he took the fight to go the distance. And
- 2:15:09Speaker 1: that's like, I mean, you're not that far off, you know.
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: Oh and then Jimi Mungia filled a vada tests. Did
- 2:15:20Speaker 1: I did that already happen or that happened the last
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: show I did it? Either way, you do have to
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: start looking at that camp in general. Canelo says, we
- 2:15:33Speaker 1: believe in Jimi Mungia, who will surely clear this up soon.
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: And I want to be very clear that Eddie Renosa
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: doesn't give doesn't give him settlements. Eddie is solely dedicated
- 2:15:46Speaker 1: to training him. So I guess Eddie's like, hey, go
- 2:15:52Speaker 1: have some tacos, oh gayos and koy fot too. I
- 2:15:59Speaker 1: forgot about at it it it you know, it flipped
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: this time. But yeah, I totally forgot about that fight.
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: I did get a message earlier a couple of days ago.
- 2:16:08Speaker 1: Actually I did forget to mention that fight. And there
- 2:16:16Speaker 1: was also a close fight with Gabrielle uh gull yas.
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: I think it was Medina that was. I saw a
- 2:16:25Speaker 1: good chunk of that fight. I didn't see every round,
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: but I did see a chunk of that, so that, Yeah,
- 2:16:32Speaker 1: that was kind of interesting. But yeah, khalil Cooy definitely,
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: you know, did his thing and also did I mention MJ.
- 2:16:43Speaker 1: I didn't. Once John came, I kind of forgot. Yeah,
- 2:16:47Speaker 1: MJ got a win, so you know, I think it's
- 2:16:49Speaker 1: what September he's gonna take on He's gonna take it
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: was castile, right, I think he stopped him in the
- 2:16:59Speaker 1: was an eighth or ninth round something like that. But
- 2:17:02Speaker 1: Khalilkoy definitely, you know, definitely was letting some stuff go.
- 2:17:14Speaker 1: I did I did forget to mention that on that
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: on that card, So we're on the car A card itself. Whatever.
- 2:17:21Speaker 1: So yeah, I think I think that's about it pretty sure.
- 2:17:29Speaker 1: Is there any other Let me check my messages to
- 2:17:32Speaker 1: see if I got anything else or question or oh
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: I did I did get this? It says Pakiao is
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: a screenshot Pakio was saying that, oh that it's not
- 2:17:46Speaker 1: a one off. I did see someone tweet this. I
- 2:17:48Speaker 1: think it was I can't remember. It could be this tweet.
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: I can't see who tweeted it, though, he says, I'm back.
- 2:17:55Speaker 1: He said it's not a one off. Pakiov said, it's
- 2:17:58Speaker 1: not a one off. I'm back, like, oh, okay, And
- 2:18:02Speaker 1: you know, I mean, I don't know. I just can't
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: get out of my mind how he looked against Ugas
- 2:18:12Speaker 1: and even seeing clips of that that damn exhibition. He
- 2:18:17Speaker 1: just I don't know, man, I really don't know. Ry
- 2:18:21Speaker 1: says about so Remy said tweeted tail one and Boots
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: at forty seven, but at forty seven, fifty four, but
- 2:18:30Speaker 1: won't fight Haine at forty seven. Can't make this shit up.
- 2:18:33Speaker 1: And Rye quote tweeted him saying, reminds me of Triple
- 2:18:36Speaker 1: G when he said fifty four to sixty eight except
- 2:18:40Speaker 1: for Andre Board and that's like, yeah, that lines up.
- 2:18:44Speaker 1: He did say that he wanted to cry, And I
- 2:18:46Speaker 1: get why. I get why Crawford would be first on
- 2:18:49Speaker 1: the list, you know, coming off that that. You know,
- 2:18:53Speaker 1: like he's a big name, right, he's a big big
- 2:18:56Speaker 1: name and you could sell with him. But yeah, if
- 2:19:01Speaker 1: you're willing to go up to fifty four, but you
- 2:19:03Speaker 1: don't even want to fight any at forty seven, and
- 2:19:06Speaker 1: you're you're willing to fight a puncher at I don't know,
- 2:19:09Speaker 1: I just this is for some reason. I'm not even
- 2:19:15Speaker 1: gonna say strange reason. He just hasn't wont to fight Hani.
- 2:19:20Speaker 1: Like I get some other times where you know, like
- 2:19:26Speaker 1: he fought you know, beat Loma, beat tailor have some
- 2:19:30Speaker 1: other good wins in there. No doubt the Camboss thing
- 2:19:35Speaker 1: was weird or whatever, but it's like, yeah, I'll just
- 2:19:38Speaker 1: keep repeating myself. I just can't believe if in fact,
- 2:19:42Speaker 1: from here on out, not here on out, but just
- 2:19:45Speaker 1: in general, if he's not fighting him in August, it's
- 2:19:51Speaker 1: hard not to call it a duck. Dude. You know,
- 2:19:54Speaker 1: you're up there saying my bad sorry, singing like that
- 2:19:58Speaker 1: meme in court. Dude's saying sorry, I'm sorry. He's singing
- 2:20:04Speaker 1: like and then you're gonna turn around and and just not.
- 2:20:08Speaker 1: It's just it's really bad, dude, Like this is that
- 2:20:12Speaker 1: this would go down as a full on duck. Know
- 2:20:15Speaker 1: if ands or butts about it anyway, I'm gonna get
- 2:20:18Speaker 1: out of here enjoy the fights. I feel like it's
- 2:20:22Speaker 1: pretty good for next Tuesday. You never know, life gets
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: in the way, but we'll see you next week either way.
