Belarus crackdown reaches students studying in Europe
The Belarusian government has extended its domestic political repression abroad by officially designating the European Humanities University (EHU) a prominent Vilnius-based institution serving exiled students in neighboring Lithuania as an "extremist organization." This legal designation allows the regime of Alexander Lukashenko to weaponize state security forces against current students, alumni, and their families remaining inside Belarus.
