- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I am Dr.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Christopher Kevin Slane, your host.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Are you listening, watching, or thinking about the brain's body, about how the brain talks back?
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you tune in, we're talking about solving human problems.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: And the first human problem that we look at is how we think.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Are you really thinking when you think you're thinking?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: That is brain learning.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: How does my brain learn with me?
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: When I say me, I'm talking about your sensor field for self, the identity, information processing.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: How do I move through the experience of self in relation to other people and the environment?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Am I comfortable?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: This is brain talk.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Because we're talking about your neural systems and how you relate to contact interaction.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And are you able to cooperate with yourself in relation to other people and the environment to live, learn, think, and respond as you interact?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Or does the emotion affect the cognitive processing, the transfer of neural energy to the brain and the body?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: When I say the brain and the body, I'm saying that once you have contact, the transfer is the signals between the brain and the body that become neural.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: So it's a neurophysical transfer of information.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And when you get caught up emotionally is when you can't handle that transfer.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: When your physical self is larger than your neural self, your internal self, there's a conflict because you have to cooperate to process that information flow.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter how it makes you feel uncomfortable, the brain needs the experience of the body.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And the body needs the experience of the brain.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: And the senses transfer these signals between both.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And so when I talk about brain talk, I'm talking about you, your inner voice, and self-talk talks you out of participating in how you sense, receive, and process information flow.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about human system science.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And what I'm trying to get you to understand is that it starts with self, self-awareness.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Which means as I become more informed, I become more aware of how I react to my brain.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I just now said that because the physical you has to calm down and allow the neural you to respond to the way you react.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: It's natural to react because we are driven by external influences.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm saying mood states.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about mental states of mind.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: We're trained to react.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: We're not taught to receive and process the communication between brain and body.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: We're taught to react so that we don't have to process that information flow because it may change the way that we respond.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And we have to be predictable.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Now I'm talking science here, I'm talking about behaviorism, I'm talking about neuroscience, but I'm talking about through the sense of or the lens of human system science, which is self.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: And self-encompasses brain, body, and sense systems.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So as I structure these events, brain, body, and sense events, I want you to understand where states of mind fit in.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: You're driven by the external influences that impact your receive path.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So when information flow is moving through you, you may block it because you've been taught not to listen.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: You've been taught not to watch.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: You've been taught not to think because your mind is already made up.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: This is how you respond.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And that's why I say react versus response.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Because when the brain responds, it's through a synthesis of brain-body signals.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: It's through a synthesis, which is the neurophysiology of self, where the brain, body, and senses coalesce into a unit, a response.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And that forward feed that you're sending forward is the brain's response to the environment.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: And so here I am talking to you today from the lab.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: This is Dr.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Christopher Kevin Slayton, live.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to get this out because I have a new book coming out.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Wait a minute, yes, giving some science, brain thinking.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And you have to pick it up because you see, when I'm talking like this, it's always in reference to a resource.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Because we got to stop the crisis itself first.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And we got to stop understanding or misunderstanding why you react before you think things through.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And the book talks about three variables, and I talk about them a lot: sense, feel, focus.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: You're born to sense, feel, and focus as you move into the environment as an infant.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: You begin to realize you're alive.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: You begin to recognize, learning, you begin to look like you're thinking.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you when you pause.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: That's why it says to feel, wait a minute, because the brain pauses to transfer that brain-body connection to the neural side.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Now you're responding through thought, awareness, and then self-actualization.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: October 1st, my new book.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Give me some science.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Remember, brain thinking.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Are you listening?
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Are you watching?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Are you thinking?
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Tune in, subscribe, get real.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: We can get harder.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Get real.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Subscribe.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: This is Dr.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Lane Live.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Tune in out.
