- 0:03Speaker 1: Bootlet Cav podcast Boutlet keV show my brother. He's got
- 0:07Speaker 1: a new album coming out, Labor of Love.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Labor of Love six twelve. Man we out, Yes, that's
- 0:12Speaker 2: next weekend, next week, next week, next Friday.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Last is in the building?
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yes, sir boo Let Cav. What's up? Man?
- 0:20Speaker 1: So, man, I haven't seen you in a minute. Last time,
- 0:22Speaker 1: I think we did something together. We were at my
- 0:24Speaker 1: pizza restaurant. This was like when you drop the debut album,
- 0:28Speaker 1: which feels even weird to say now because it felt
- 0:30Speaker 1: like you're like third album. But it's fine.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Hey, you know, it get political when they say debut
- 0:34Speaker 2: because I feel the same way you feel.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But hey, so that was like you've you've come a
- 0:40Speaker 1: long way. That was about it almost two years ago.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that was twenty twenty four.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Was the last time dropped.
- 0:46Speaker 1: That is crazy. A lot has happened since then. You
- 0:52Speaker 1: Red Bull Records is no longer a thing period, right, Yeah?
- 0:56Speaker 1: So you had a great run with him, by the
- 0:59Speaker 1: way I did. Now you're with Empire, who tried to
- 1:03Speaker 1: get you in the first place, yep, back in the day.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 1: How you feeling, man, how are you feeling in twenty
- 1:09Speaker 1: twenty six.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Man, I feel like I'm back to square one. It's
- 1:13Speaker 2: a lot of highs and lows that I've been going
- 1:15Speaker 2: through since twenty twenty four. But in a nutshell, I
- 1:19Speaker 2: would say I feel like I'm in control, Like I'm
- 1:22Speaker 2: back to the roots, back to the basics, And that's
- 1:26Speaker 2: what Labor of Love represents. Yeah, doing it for the
- 1:29Speaker 2: love of the game.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Do you feel like because I feel like you have
- 1:33Speaker 1: had so many quote unquote hit records and had so
- 1:37Speaker 1: much success, like immediately and then like you kind of
- 1:42Speaker 1: like got boxed in where people will be like every
- 1:45Speaker 1: blast song sounds the same, but then your debut album
- 1:48Speaker 1: comes out and you dibbled and dabbled sonically a lot. Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but it seemed like people didn't like fuck with it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I thought it was great.
- 1:57Speaker 2: That's crazy that you say that, because I just had
- 1:59Speaker 2: this converseation last night, like people say your shit sound
- 2:02Speaker 2: insane and you do something different and they like it
- 2:04Speaker 2: don't even exist, bro, Like.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Did you not hear the first album song? Like I
- 2:08Speaker 1: feel like it didn't sound like you were like trying hard.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You just made some different experiments, Like there was some
- 2:13Speaker 1: shit on that album.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you that was executive produced by sound Wave too.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, I was tapped in with different cultures. You know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: when you first get in the game, it's like you're
- 2:23Speaker 2: doing what you do and then you start meeting other producers,
- 2:26Speaker 2: then get signed and it's like you should work with
- 2:28Speaker 2: this person. So I went through the ringer of working
- 2:30Speaker 2: with different people. But yeah, I had fun making that album.
- 2:33Speaker 2: It was It was my most experimental album. You know.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It was after I was traveling the world, so I
- 2:39Speaker 2: was working with international artists and stuff like that. Got
- 2:43Speaker 2: fade on there. The fade Man shout.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Out brought to a whole new audience exactly.
- 2:48Speaker 2: He brought me out all the way in Colombia too
- 2:50Speaker 2: to do that song. I brought him out at Coachella too.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Wow.
- 2:54Speaker 2: But yeah, we're back to me fully producing it.
- 2:58Speaker 1: How was the initial response to the album or maybe
- 3:03Speaker 1: maybe not the album, like having like a chosen on it,
- 3:06Speaker 1: or having the success that like maybe you thought it
- 3:09Speaker 1: might have had, because I do I remember when you
- 3:10Speaker 1: came out at was it that rolling loud and you
- 3:13Speaker 1: had the crazy performance? It was fucking a movie dog
- 3:17Speaker 1: la or it was la Okay? Yeah, but did did that?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Like I feel like being an artist has to be
- 3:25Speaker 1: like a roller coaster experience because like anything you put
- 3:27Speaker 1: out is like an artistic you know, it's an artistic
- 3:32Speaker 1: representation of where you are at the time. You care
- 3:34Speaker 1: about it, you love it. You're vulnerable enough to release
- 3:36Speaker 1: your art to the world. Like did that album's I
- 3:40Speaker 1: guess lack of like popping or doing as well as
- 3:43Speaker 1: maybe some of your previous stuff.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Did it?
- 3:45Speaker 1: Did it make you question anything to throw you off
- 3:47Speaker 1: track at all?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Did he throw me off track? Yeah? I mean I
- 3:50Speaker 2: think it kind of make you self reflect because you
- 3:53Speaker 2: especially when you come in a game on fire, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 2: you back to back of like just scorching, just scorching everything.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I had double Excel, Freshmen tours, multiple Grammy nominations, Kendrick features. Yeah, so,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and then I dropped my debut album quote unquote, and
- 4:13Speaker 2: yeah it was. It was a weird time honestly too,
- 4:16Speaker 2: because a lot of other ship was going on in
- 4:19Speaker 2: my real life, right you know. So twenty twenty four
- 4:22Speaker 2: is when I started managing myself. I haven't had a
- 4:26Speaker 2: manager since twenty twenty four. Yeah, and I went on
- 4:30Speaker 2: tour no management, So it was a lot of shit.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I was learning you're having to deal with that all
- 4:36Speaker 1: of the shit on your own.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so you know, it was it was a
- 4:39Speaker 2: lot of ups and downs that kind of affect the creativity.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I love the music, but as far as like the
- 4:46Speaker 2: aesthetic outside of it. I dyed my hair blond and
- 4:48Speaker 2: all kind of crazy shit. Yeah, you know, and I
- 4:50Speaker 2: felt like I was, like, looking back, I was kind
- 4:52Speaker 2: of like in a rebellious mind state if I had to.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I thought it was also conceptually dope, like you like,
- 5:00Speaker 1: it was like a quadruple disc format. Everything kind of
- 5:04Speaker 1: tied in together.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yes, And I had to uh the short film with
- 5:07Speaker 2: it and everything.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I even like when you did the rollout,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you're running around and you ended up doing something what
- 5:12Speaker 1: up though? But you were just running around the city.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It felt it was it was. It was crazy. But
- 5:15Speaker 1: I enjoyed the album a lot. But I always wonder
- 5:17Speaker 1: when that happens to an artist, like where you just
- 5:20Speaker 1: didn't miss for so long and then like that album
- 5:23Speaker 1: kind of comes and goes and you're like, well, fuck
- 5:26Speaker 1: does that? Like, like where how do you regroup artistically
- 5:30Speaker 1: and how do you regroup mentally? Because I can only
- 5:32Speaker 1: imagine like if you you can let that noise get to.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You, right, I think you gotta just stick to what
- 5:38Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, on that album, it was a lot
- 5:42Speaker 2: of chefs in the kitchen, I would say too, Like,
- 5:44Speaker 2: even though I had my management situation was falling apart,
- 5:48Speaker 2: it was a lot of like different chefs in the kitchen.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I was working with new people, you know. In a nutshell,
- 5:54Speaker 2: it felt good in the in the midst of creating it.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But I think looking back, you just gotta reflect on
- 6:02Speaker 2: what didn't connect and what did connect. A lot of
- 6:04Speaker 2: people knew me for a certain sonic and it kind
- 6:06Speaker 2: of went left, you know, And I think it was
- 6:10Speaker 2: a little bit too early. Like if I would have
- 6:11Speaker 2: dropped this album I'm dropping now then dropped, I'll always
- 6:15Speaker 2: confined you. I felt like it would have connected way crazier.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Right. So do you think this new album, Labor of
- 6:21Speaker 1: Love is more back to the roots of I mean,
- 6:23Speaker 1: obviously this stuff we've heard from the album to me,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I mean I got to listen to I only got
- 6:26Speaker 1: through about half of the album, but it does feel
- 6:28Speaker 1: like some classic blast Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what was your question now?
- 6:32Speaker 1: I was just say, do you feel like with this
- 6:33Speaker 1: album you kind of got got back to the roots
- 6:35Speaker 1: of like, yeah, what we know, blast to be kind
- 6:38Speaker 1: of came into game.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say for me, like this album, I
- 6:42Speaker 2: just got back to what I felt was missing in
- 6:46Speaker 2: the universe, like why I started making music just for
- 6:50Speaker 2: the love of the game. Like I said, so just
- 6:52Speaker 2: me being boxed in in the studio, pulling from my
- 6:57Speaker 2: inspirations that made me started making music in the first place. Ye, yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know so, I think naturally the fans will connect
- 7:03Speaker 2: to that.
- 7:04Speaker 1: The other thing, I feel like when you came in,
- 7:06Speaker 1: you were you were damn near like the West Coast
- 7:09Speaker 1: RUSS because you were in charge of I remember the
- 7:13Speaker 1: artistic direction and like all your videos look so crazy
- 7:16Speaker 1: and like you were in charge of the videos and
- 7:18Speaker 1: you were. I think you were in charge of the
- 7:20Speaker 1: artwork too. You're mixing, your mastering, you're producing everything, so
- 7:26Speaker 1: like every part of the creative process you're touching. I'm
- 7:29Speaker 1: sure the bigger you get, it's a lot easier to
- 7:32Speaker 1: let some of that creative process slip away exactly because
- 7:35Speaker 1: you're so busy now and you're like, well maybe if
- 7:37Speaker 1: I you.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Know, yeah, I think you you, like I said, you
- 7:42Speaker 2: go through the industry you start doing, you start wearing
- 7:44Speaker 2: yourself thin. It's just so much shit you gotta do.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Especially when you first in the game and you making
- 7:50Speaker 2: a name, it's like, go do this show, go do this,
- 7:52Speaker 2: do this, meet this person, meet this producer, to where
- 7:55Speaker 2: you kind of like lose track of yourself and it's
- 7:58Speaker 2: important for you to slow down. Sometimes it's kind of
- 8:01Speaker 2: hard to like tell an artist that that's fresh in
- 8:03Speaker 2: the game and on fire. But slowing down, I think
- 8:07Speaker 2: it's been the best part of everything up until this
- 8:11Speaker 2: point for me, Like I've been dropping probably two projects
- 8:15Speaker 2: every year, from the sixth tape to my own projects.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Going on a fucking run. Right, So, all right, another
- 8:24Speaker 1: podcast brought to you by odd Socks. That's right, baby, Listen, guys,

- 8:31Speaker 1: the world. We've been rocking odd socks for over ten years,
- 8:35Speaker 1: all right. And when I tell you these odd socks basics,
- 8:38Speaker 1: not only are they the most comfortable socks in the world,

- 8:49Speaker 1: than Nike. They're the best socks. And listen to basics line,
- 8:55Speaker 1: whether you got the ankle socks, whether you got the
- 8:57Speaker 1: anklet socks, the tube socks, white black, whatever the case is, ladies.

- 9:03Speaker 1: course the vintage you know, odd socks. Man, they got
- 9:06Speaker 1: the licensing game on smash. Shout out to them because

- 9:15Speaker 1: they got the Budweiser, they got the Michelo, they got that.

- 9:33Speaker 1: from the odds Socks pop up that they did. They
- 9:36Speaker 1: made their very own like liquor store, corner store, and
- 9:40Speaker 1: all of the products were odd socks. Yes, cut to
- 9:43Speaker 1: the footage. It looks great. Shout out to odd socks.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Use that promo code. Support our family all right, odd
- 9:48Speaker 1: socksofficial dot com promo code boot leg and save some
- 9:51Speaker 1: money and get some socks. Man, Thank me later on
- 9:54Speaker 1: this album. Can you talk to me? About what was
- 10:01Speaker 1: did you have like a labor of love breakdown? Like
- 10:04Speaker 1: what's behind that title and kind of what the theme
- 10:06Speaker 1: of this album is.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Labor of love is enjoying the process of it, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 2: instead of just focusing on the destination. It's like, I
- 10:16Speaker 2: have to embrace the journey of it. I think if
- 10:20Speaker 2: you too focused on the destination and what you can
- 10:24Speaker 2: get from out of a situation, you kind of lose
- 10:26Speaker 2: sense of the love and the arc that goes into
- 10:28Speaker 2: the details of what you're building. And a lot of
- 10:31Speaker 2: times when when I've been dropping albums and stuff, the
- 10:35Speaker 2: happiness really come from in the midst of those sessions,
- 10:38Speaker 2: you know, when you're producing, or when you find that
- 10:40Speaker 2: right snare, when you find the right kick or the
- 10:42Speaker 2: right line. So I just want to live in a
- 10:44Speaker 2: process and enjoy the journey over over everything because it's
- 10:49Speaker 2: gonna come to an end one day.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I saw you doing like a beat breakdowns and shit,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and I'm like, this is like blasts in his pocket
- 10:57Speaker 1: if he's fucking making the bead to Yeah, are you
- 11:01Speaker 1: still like on this album? How much of the album
- 11:05Speaker 1: did you handle the production? So you did everything?
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but I brought it in some live instrument, like if.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You need some strings or something, you need somebody coming.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Right right right outside of that. Yeah, hands on with everything,
- 11:18Speaker 2: And I've been documenting the process. So I bought a
- 11:21Speaker 2: Sony camera and I just throw it in the corner
- 11:24Speaker 2: of the room and just document the process because I
- 11:27Speaker 2: kind of look at it now, it's like like a
- 11:30Speaker 2: visual diary, like something for my kids to have in
- 11:34Speaker 2: the future. Like imagine if you had like a like
- 11:38Speaker 2: raw videos of your grandpa way back then.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, it'd be crazy.
- 11:43Speaker 2: So that's that's the type of ship I've been doing lately.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Do you uh on the on this album? I know
- 11:48Speaker 1: you've been working with Big You got a record with
- 11:50Speaker 1: Big Sad. Out shout out to Big Sad, who's going crazy.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I feel like you have this other guy named Mazi
- 11:56Speaker 1: that you have this like crazy just just I feel
- 11:59Speaker 1: like I just been trying to throw the idea of
- 12:01Speaker 1: you and Mazzi doing a whole album in the universe
- 12:03Speaker 1: for like five six years. Is he on the album?
- 12:06Speaker 2: He's not on the album.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Okay, he's not any more progress on doing a Masi
- 12:11Speaker 1: Blast album.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Nah, bro, I haven't really been tapped in with Bro
- 12:15Speaker 2: as of recently. We got a bunch of songs that's
- 12:17Speaker 2: just never been released naturally, but we never really tapped out.
- 12:21Speaker 2: He did do the project with Kaitlin too. He did
- 12:24Speaker 2: you know that that went crazy? But nah, I got
- 12:27Speaker 2: to tap in with Devo. Man, he been going crazy
- 12:29Speaker 2: in a basketball space.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I've seen that having like g Herbo play against like
- 12:33Speaker 1: Skill a baby or whatever. Yeah, man, he's going crazy.
- 12:38Speaker 1: If you could do a joint album with somebody besides
- 12:41Speaker 1: obviously you would be no have a crazy history. Is
- 12:44Speaker 1: there anybody else you could see yourself walking in with.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I had talks with doing a project with Larry June.
- 12:51Speaker 2: We had a couple of joints in a cut, but
- 12:54Speaker 2: it never came to fruition. But that would be one
- 12:56Speaker 2: of the least. This was like around the time when
- 12:59Speaker 2: we was working and Heavy. I think we got like
- 13:01Speaker 2: two songs out, but it was around that time.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Maybe you guys are both on Empire now he's not
- 13:06Speaker 1: Empire ere.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I feel like it'd be very easy, Yeah, but you
- 13:09Speaker 2: know he's doing his thing too.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Do you feel like it's a little bit easier for
- 13:13Speaker 1: you because I don't know what the politics were with
- 13:15Speaker 1: Red Bull, but you kind of were red Bull music,
- 13:17Speaker 1: like the most successful artists ever been signed there. Kept
- 13:19Speaker 1: the lights on. But it is still label, which I'm
- 13:23Speaker 1: assuming it's like a little bit, you know, you still
- 13:24Speaker 1: got to get some stuff approved. I'm sure it's an
- 13:27Speaker 1: unconventional label system. But do you feel like being with
- 13:30Speaker 1: a company like Empire, you're able to do more random
- 13:36Speaker 1: Like Hey, I feel like I want to just throw
- 13:38Speaker 1: some shit out with Let's say you and Larry June
- 13:41Speaker 1: got up in the Bay in two weeks and like, yo,
- 13:43Speaker 1: let's drop this ship next week.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like the flexibility is way more flexible
- 13:49Speaker 2: at like an Empire versus you know, Red Bull. Red
- 13:52Speaker 2: Bull was really like behind the scenes, really heavy about
- 13:55Speaker 2: the brand, even though they didn't want to cross pollinate
- 13:59Speaker 2: the side with the actual brand, right Like I wanted
- 14:03Speaker 2: a can for the longest time, like my face on
- 14:05Speaker 2: the can y, but I never ever got that opportunity
- 14:08Speaker 2: because they was like, naw, the music is the music,
- 14:10Speaker 2: the brand is the brand.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Were you able to walk away from that situation with
- 14:13Speaker 1: your masters?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Absolutely? I started off with only my master's fire that's
- 14:18Speaker 2: gonna be forever.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So now that they're not a thing. Is your catalog
- 14:22Speaker 1: still with them? Where does the catalog lie?
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's a licensing deal.
- 14:26Speaker 1: So they still get to license it.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Right until a yeah period of time fire.
- 14:32Speaker 1: So then you'll just get it back and you just oh,
- 14:34Speaker 1: that's a big that's fire.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I dropped the video on that too, some of my
- 14:36Speaker 2: Instagram about talking about three versions and the masters and
- 14:40Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That's awesome, that's awesome. I want to talk to you
- 14:45Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. A lot of people have
- 14:48Speaker 1: been dealing with the same thing, but you and your
- 14:49Speaker 1: family would do something traumatic. Someone broke into the house.
- 14:52Speaker 1: How did that kind of change shit for you? Man?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Because I've been in that situation where somebody has broken
- 14:59Speaker 1: into my shit took my shit. When I I mean,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it makes you want to like really yeah, it's just
- 15:04Speaker 1: a certain level of violation you feel. That is Yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 1: very hard to communicate to people if they have never
- 15:09Speaker 1: gone through that.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Man, were You're the first person that asked me that?
- 15:13Speaker 2: I think, how did it change me? Definitely made me
- 15:20Speaker 2: more alert. I definitely bought more guns up, the security system,
- 15:24Speaker 2: stuff like that. I had actually moved out that house
- 15:28Speaker 2: after it happened, probably like two months ago, I mean
- 15:31Speaker 2: two months after the situation, but just recently I've moved
- 15:35Speaker 2: back because I felt like as a representation for my kids,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I don't want to them to see like, yeah, somebody
- 15:41Speaker 2: can move you at your own house, because I had
- 15:44Speaker 2: uncomfortable time sleeping there around that time.
- 15:47Speaker 1: You know, but that area you're in, it that has
- 15:49Speaker 1: happened to a lot of yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That's what I found out. A lot of people that
- 15:53Speaker 2: lived there, like different celebrities been tapping in like once
- 15:56Speaker 2: it happened, like, bro, that's the same situation happened to me.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And it's almost like they'll I mean, unfortunately, if you
- 16:04Speaker 1: live in LA it's not the hardest thing to figure
- 16:07Speaker 1: out where famous people live. They do damn TMZ tours
- 16:11Speaker 1: the people's right, So it's not the crazy.
- 16:13Speaker 2: That was the one thing I hated, Like when it happened,
- 16:15Speaker 2: the news was outside the house the whole and it's like, you.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Know, they tell you what and there's and where you're at,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Like there's only a couple of neighborhoods it could be,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it's like, but I
- 16:27Speaker 1: can just imagine it's like you're a famous person and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm sure, like if people want to find out if
- 16:33Speaker 1: you're even if you're like Angelina Jolie or somebody, they
- 16:36Speaker 1: can find out where you live and they'll be like, oh,
- 16:38Speaker 1: Angelina Jolie's on set filming because you're out of town.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And yeah, dude, that shit's horrible, dude.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the hardest part. Like I was in
- 16:45Speaker 2: New York when it happened, and my two boys was
- 16:48Speaker 2: at the house.
- 16:49Speaker 1: It just felt like they were with their nanny, grandma grandma.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah, damn. It just felt like a helpless, hopeless situation.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Bro.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And it was in the middle of the night. It
- 16:59Speaker 2: was probably like four o'clock in the morning, so imagine
- 17:02Speaker 2: waking up. My son said, he said, the bad guys
- 17:05Speaker 2: are in the house, like he facetimey on his iPad said,
- 17:08Speaker 2: the bad guys in my stomach. I just I didn't
- 17:12Speaker 2: know what to do, who to call. It was crazy why.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'm glad you're back in the house though.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we back in it, man. You know, it changed
- 17:19Speaker 2: me for the better too, because you just can't be
- 17:22Speaker 2: caught lacking, you know, and.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I think too, like we just I mean, we all go.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I got to the point where I feel like I
- 17:30Speaker 1: was moving on too comfortable. It's like you always gotta
- 17:33Speaker 1: kind of be on your keep your head on the
- 17:35Speaker 1: swivel out here.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Man, just gotta stay ready. I got protective training for
- 17:39Speaker 2: my dog and my doverman about to get another dog.
- 17:42Speaker 1: And even like even I tell everybody, it's like, it's
- 17:44Speaker 1: a pain in the ass to get a concealed permit
- 17:48Speaker 1: out here, but fuck, man go.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Through that you're talking about like to carry on the ship.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Like if you're like.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I heard, it's actually easier.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It became easier since COVID because before, well, shit, I
- 18:01Speaker 1: would say like anything, like before twenty twenty two, it
- 18:04Speaker 1: was like a pain in the ass. But now because
- 18:05Speaker 1: all the robberies and shit, they kind.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Of were like, all right, we gotta they gotta be
- 18:10Speaker 2: more flexible to it.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, because otherwise you're just gonna have everybody out here
- 18:13Speaker 1: running around with guns anyway, trying to protect themselves.
- 18:16Speaker 2: The wild Wild West.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Man, what uh what features can you talk about on
- 18:21Speaker 1: the project?
- 18:22Speaker 2: That?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Uh?
- 18:24Speaker 1: That that you I mean obviously uh, big sads on
- 18:26Speaker 1: the album. Who else you got on the album?
- 18:28Speaker 2: So this album is real tight Kit, It's just big
- 18:31Speaker 2: sad Sasha Kibo. I just announced her and then we
- 18:35Speaker 2: got Chyenne Right on there as well. Chyenne Right is
- 18:38Speaker 2: a crazy singer from La She does background singing on
- 18:41Speaker 2: my on every tour that I've ever been on. So
- 18:44Speaker 2: if you know Blast and you've been to a show,
- 18:46Speaker 2: you know who Cheyenne Right is.
- 18:48Speaker 1: So keeping it super tight, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fire.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Shout out to our brother's a hard Dean man OTTs family.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Of course, they've been sponsoring the podcast for years now.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You've been seeing the mic flag for years now. Want
- 18:59Speaker 1: to give a shout out to our brothers. I just
- 19:01Speaker 1: was in Vegas. I had to pull up all right. Look,
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's the number one dispensary in the world. When I
- 19:06Speaker 1: tell you, you walk in that thing and the BUTD tenders
- 19:09Speaker 1: are great. They take care of you immediately. The selection
- 19:12Speaker 1: is great. So when you go to Vegas, you get
- 19:14Speaker 1: into that cab, you get into that uber immediately, say
- 19:16Speaker 1: take me to Harding. Don't know what they're doing, all right,
- 19:19Speaker 1: they go get you right, all right, the number one
- 19:20Speaker 1: premium cannabis dispensary in the world. They just got me right.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I was just in town for Raffi's birthday. Had to
- 19:26Speaker 1: pull up. Get right this nice little one to one
- 19:29Speaker 1: Hardeing jersey. These are not available, all right, shout out
- 19:33Speaker 1: to them man, all right, salute to the family. Follow
- 19:35Speaker 1: him on Instagram Harding Underscore, Las Vegas. Sorry, let's get
- 19:38Speaker 1: back to the podcast. Do you feel like you because
- 19:42Speaker 1: you went through the I feel like guys like yourself,
- 19:47Speaker 1: Ty whoever, is like really good at the hook making.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Once you catch a couple of records, you end up
- 19:51Speaker 1: kind of being a very high and demand person for
- 19:55Speaker 1: artists to reach out to to get hooks for. Obviously,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you got the Kendrick feature with NAS. You know what
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. Uh, there's some other random East Coast shit
- 20:04Speaker 1: you did that I can't even think about right now.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I did some shit with Buster to run.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Bust, but you were. I feel like like that has
- 20:11Speaker 1: to be a cool thing to go through where like
- 20:13Speaker 1: everyone's hitting like, Yo, we need a blast feature. We're
- 20:15Speaker 1: trying to go to radio, we need a blast feature,
- 20:17Speaker 1: or yo, we need something that's gonna be commercially successful.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It's got to be kind of like it's gotta feel
- 20:22Speaker 1: good to be like Bust. The rhymes reached out, NAS
- 20:25Speaker 1: reached out like was there a feature that you did
- 20:27Speaker 1: that just like meant the most you. That was just
- 20:29Speaker 1: kind of crazy to obviously. Besides I think Kendrick we
- 20:32Speaker 1: could put.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I think NAS was like the one, yeah, you know,
- 20:35Speaker 2: like it's because I've got uncles and shit that like
- 20:38Speaker 2: looked up to each East Coast rat of course, so
- 20:43Speaker 2: that one was just like okay, I'm here now, like
- 20:45Speaker 2: you can't tell me nothing, Like no, if NAS stamped me,
- 20:50Speaker 2: what can you really tell me? As far as like
- 20:51Speaker 2: hip hop and yeah, that was one of the ones.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That was Was that something you guys did in person together?
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, we actually did that was at a hip.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Hooist hit studio. Yeah, is that was that childie?
- 21:02Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's crazy because like I don't
- 21:06Speaker 1: think a lot of people understand like NAS was doing
- 21:07Speaker 1: all that ship there, so it'd be like how does
- 21:10Speaker 1: Dom Kennedy end up on the Knas album? Be like, well,
- 21:12Speaker 1: it's because he's fucking in LA and hit boys calling
- 21:14Speaker 1: everybody to pull up exactly.
- 21:16Speaker 2: They had a crazy culture over there. I think I
- 21:19Speaker 2: don't even know if hit Boy got that spot. I
- 21:21Speaker 2: think Bro moved to Miami or some crazy.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Well hit moved to the fab Factory in North Hollywood,
- 21:27Speaker 1: which is Hella deep in the valley. But then he
- 21:31Speaker 1: got robbed. He posted, Yeah, I saw that, So then
- 21:35Speaker 1: he moved out and now my friend does merch out
- 21:37Speaker 1: of his old studio, which is random. They have machines
- 21:40Speaker 1: and ship so I don't know where it went to,
- 21:42Speaker 1: but yeah, but that spot in particular was a very
- 21:49Speaker 1: interesting place to have a studio because Yeah, when he
- 21:52Speaker 1: got robbed, I was like, bro, you had They were
- 21:54Speaker 1: doing those Neon streams with the streamer dude Neon, and
- 21:57Speaker 1: I went over there was just like fucking just the most.
- 22:00Speaker 1: It's like a party. I'm like, dude, all these people
- 22:02Speaker 1: now know how to get in the back of the studio.
- 22:04Speaker 1: But shout out to Hit, who's been on fire? You
- 22:07Speaker 1: and Hit would kind of go crazy if you just
- 22:09Speaker 1: like project with him and let him just be like, look, dude,
- 22:13Speaker 1: I don't want to handle any of the production. Let's
- 22:16Speaker 1: let's just cook. I'm gonna do what I do. You
- 22:18Speaker 1: do what you do? That'd be crazy. What has been something?
- 22:23Speaker 2: You know?
- 22:23Speaker 1: I always talk about how dope Empire is and Nima
- 22:26Speaker 1: and Ghazi those guys. You've been around some incredible minds
- 22:29Speaker 1: in the music industry, but is there anything dope You've
- 22:31Speaker 1: been able to kind of take away from being being
- 22:34Speaker 1: over there and working closely with uh what I'd like
- 22:37Speaker 1: to call the gruesome twosome Gazi and Nima. I mean
- 22:40Speaker 1: that a positive way.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I think I just got my foot in the door
- 22:45Speaker 2: over there, so you know, I'm still learning in the
- 22:47Speaker 2: ropes only put out a couple songs so far. Luckily
- 22:50Speaker 2: we made it to the point where we can put
- 22:51Speaker 2: out a full body of work. But my experience there
- 22:54Speaker 2: has been nothing but amazing so far. I've been working
- 22:58Speaker 2: real close with Jada and Gentry as far as the album,
- 23:02Speaker 2: you know, putting it out, and they've been helping me
- 23:04Speaker 2: with different activations like I'm more about the like fan
- 23:07Speaker 2: engagement for sure.
- 23:08Speaker 1: How can we always done?
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah? How can we you know, tap into the community
- 23:12Speaker 2: and the fans. So we've been able to do some
- 23:14Speaker 2: cool stuff like for Mother's Day we did the Lamart
- 23:17Speaker 2: Park Mothers Giveaway. I saw that, you know, stuff like that.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I'm finna do something for my elementary school in LA
- 23:24Speaker 2: and then some for my high school and the Ie Fire.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So yeah, there's been some cool activations going on.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Where do you feel like West Coast Music what's West
- 23:36Speaker 1: Coast aside? LA music is right now because we had
- 23:39Speaker 1: this like huge moment with Kendrick and the pop out
- 23:43Speaker 1: and Sisson Kendrick tour in the super Bowl, and I
- 23:47Speaker 1: feel like, uh, Shoreline has done a really good job
- 23:51Speaker 1: of kind of like stepping up to the plate and
- 23:53Speaker 1: like delivering records and delivering you know, some tour stuff.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But I feel like, as in a totality like LA music,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I don't know if it fully took advantage of.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Like the catch at that moment you're talking about, like
- 24:06Speaker 2: the album or just.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I mean just like the music that came off of it.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Like I felt like like it was the time for
- 24:13Speaker 1: everybody to like come super correct with like records, and
- 24:19Speaker 1: I just felt like only a few people kind of did. Yeah,
- 24:24Speaker 1: But I wonder what your thoughts are just on where
- 24:26Speaker 1: LA hip hop is now, because Bro, look, I mean
- 24:28Speaker 1: you've kind of been the face of it, like you
- 24:29Speaker 1: and Roddy, I think are the two guys that kind
- 24:32Speaker 1: of carried the city on the radio outside of Kida
- 24:35Speaker 1: for the last six years.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say this. I think it's all perception
- 24:40Speaker 2: of what you feel LA is because sometimes we kind
- 24:44Speaker 2: of contract contradict ourselves and hyper focus on one segment
- 24:49Speaker 2: of what LA is like, we still got other people
- 24:52Speaker 2: going crazy and have been going crazy during the whole.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Tyler the creator exactly.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I gotta say, Tyler, Tyler dojah kat, You're right Tiger still.
- 25:01Speaker 1: That because I like, literally just fucking Tiger. No ship Tiger,
- 25:06Speaker 1: but Tyler exactly.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Even Shortline Mafia they doing arenas and ship like that.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So going crazy.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So when you hyper focus on one little underground, you
- 25:16Speaker 2: know obviously it's gonna be trials and tribulations because it's
- 25:19Speaker 2: a big gap between a Kendrick Tyler versus was bubbling
- 25:24Speaker 2: in the streets of LA. But I think like more
- 25:27Speaker 2: collaborations like what Kendrick did. I think that helps out
- 25:30Speaker 2: a lot. You see a z Chik Finna go crazy.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Just waiting for needs to just drop. I heard his
- 25:36Speaker 1: album is fucking crazy. I think it's done.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Man, I'm waiting for it. I'm waiting for Roddy to
- 25:42Speaker 2: drop again.
- 25:43Speaker 1: The Navy album. Please, yes, please, have you heard any
- 25:47Speaker 1: of it? No?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Not at all, man, They top secret over there, shout
- 25:50Speaker 2: out Kifa.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. Uh you know what one of my
- 25:54Speaker 1: what's the the hand of God record you had God with,
- 26:01Speaker 1: it's one of your best. I think that might be
- 26:02Speaker 1: my favorite song.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Heres, bro, that song is so fucking cold. Bro. Shout
- 26:06Speaker 2: out Ramble too. Niggas gotta pop out side. That's what
- 26:10Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 26:11Speaker 1: It's like like Ramble did the pop out.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Ain't gonna lie. Sometimes I'd be like I'd be feeling
- 26:15Speaker 2: like I'm the only one, because I do feel like
- 26:17Speaker 2: part of the success got to be when other people
- 26:20Speaker 2: going crazy at the same time when you going crazy,
- 26:22Speaker 2: because that helps the momentum.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I feel like you've done such a great job of
- 26:28Speaker 1: doing music that aesthetically is true to LA but also
- 26:34Speaker 1: it's commercially viable nationwide, and I think Roddy did a
- 26:37Speaker 1: good job of that. Obviously Kendrick has done a good
- 26:39Speaker 1: job of that. But I think it's like I feel
- 26:42Speaker 1: like a lot of I think YG has done a
- 26:43Speaker 1: good job of that throughout the years. But I think
- 26:45Speaker 1: it's like being self conscious of like you could do
- 26:49Speaker 1: the West Coast Chitlin circuit, which is like all the
- 26:52Speaker 1: way up to Seattle and then probably the Texas, New Mexico,
- 26:57Speaker 1: obviously Phoenix, Denver. But it's like, how do you do,
- 27:01Speaker 1: like New York sell it out? How do you do,
- 27:04Speaker 1: Dayton Ohio? I want sell it out in Miami, you
- 27:06Speaker 1: know what I mean. I remember you guys did that
- 27:11Speaker 1: that Red Bull event in Miami Rolling Loud weekend, like
- 27:13Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. Yeapy, that shit was a movie though.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Bro I sold out in London. I think it was
- 27:20Speaker 2: like a two thousand venue before and that was around
- 27:24Speaker 2: the time when I only did the Roxy out here.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 2: So it's like moments like that I attribute to like
- 27:31Speaker 2: Roddy Rich going crazy as well, because it's in the
- 27:34Speaker 2: same eCos same with Beano or Kalin, Like that wave
- 27:38Speaker 2: when we was all pushing at the same time, even
- 27:40Speaker 2: if we wasn't directly collaborating, it was just a momentum
- 27:44Speaker 2: wave that was also.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Like very similar like Vibe where everybody's melodic, everybody can sing,
- 27:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean, great songwriting, you know what
- 27:53Speaker 1: I'm saying?
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Would you and you know, have you guys talked about
- 27:56Speaker 1: doing another six tape?
- 27:57Speaker 2: Oh for sure?
- 27:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I know he's got prolific. Got to put out
- 28:00Speaker 1: with Nipsey.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's at the top of my list. You know,
- 28:04Speaker 2: we just got to get on the same accord. But
- 28:06Speaker 2: I want to do fifty six, says I want to
- 28:09Speaker 2: work on six tap fifty one because I felt like
- 28:12Speaker 2: that's kind of a barrier. We gotta push instead of
- 28:14Speaker 2: just doing three, four or five tapes, like how many?
- 28:17Speaker 2: How long can we go?
- 28:18Speaker 1: I feel like you guys need to do the next one,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and then when you do it, do like a like
- 28:21Speaker 1: a little sixth city run do fucking Yeah, do La,
- 28:25Speaker 1: do Phoenix, do fucking Vegas, do the brooklye Vegas, do
- 28:29Speaker 1: the Bay.
- 28:29Speaker 2: We actually did that for six tap three, did you. Yeah?
- 28:32Speaker 2: We went on small little I think it was only
- 28:35Speaker 2: like four dates. Seattle, Vegas, La, Seattle, be going up
- 28:38Speaker 2: dog Yeah, Seattle. I love Seattle. I always, not always,
- 28:43Speaker 2: but my first tour. I started there when I first
- 28:46Speaker 2: ever toured, and the energy just was contagious.
- 28:49Speaker 1: So Fade brings you out. You go to Columbia. How
- 28:53Speaker 1: is Columbia? I heard it as a movie.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it was crazy, but I was only out there
- 28:57Speaker 2: for like maybe twenty four hours.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Match so you went in and did what you do,
- 29:02Speaker 1: got the funk out?
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean but it was fun though different world.
- 29:06Speaker 2: It was a different world. It was hell of traffic.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I feel like I didn't get the full experience stuff
- 29:11Speaker 2: because we just was sitting in traffic, went to soundcheck,
- 29:14Speaker 2: went back to the room, and going back to the
- 29:16Speaker 2: room took like three hours just sitting in traffic. Then
- 29:19Speaker 2: we went back to the venue. Was it.
- 29:23Speaker 1: No that the beaches?
- 29:25Speaker 2: I think right, Yeah, it was beautiful out there.
- 29:28Speaker 1: What besides Columbia or has there been a what's the
- 29:31Speaker 1: craziest place your music is taking you?
- 29:36Speaker 2: I would say places like Amsterdam, Paris, Australia. I would
- 29:42Speaker 2: say Australia was the funniest show. Melbourne, Sydney. I did
- 29:47Speaker 2: a show in Gold Coasts and these was all my
- 29:51Speaker 2: personal tours.
- 29:52Speaker 1: They're like eighteen hours ahead or some ship.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just crazy.
- 29:55Speaker 1: They're like living in tomorrow day time.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Yeah, ahead of time.
- 29:59Speaker 1: It's like an up side down America. That's what I heard.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I said that when you flush the toilets that go backward, Yeah.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Because they're like it's like an americanized ass place from
- 30:08Speaker 1: what I hear.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they tapped. They love LA culture too, like more
- 30:13Speaker 2: than any other I don't know what it is, but
- 30:15Speaker 2: Australia they like super tapped in to like underground LA shit.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah, they got the wildest animals there. Man, I'll be
- 30:23Speaker 1: found all these YouTubers and beyond. They're out there. They
- 30:26Speaker 1: just be fucking catching, fucking sharks and steam raising ship.
- 30:30Speaker 2: My only thing I ain't see one kangaroo out there.
- 30:32Speaker 1: That'd be disappointing. I'd be like, I need to go
- 30:35Speaker 1: see we need to hit this whatever they call the Safari.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I need a kangaroo. They got koala bears out there.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I ain't see not one exotic animal. Man.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Shout out to Raffi Law Group, our family. Yes, it's
- 30:46Speaker 1: been so dope to partner with, you know, such a
- 30:49Speaker 1: name and brand and somebody who I actually am a
- 30:52Speaker 1: customer of. Shout out to Raffi Law Group, man Arizona's
- 30:55Speaker 1: premier personal injury law firm. And I don't just put
- 30:59Speaker 1: my name on anybody. When we do this stuff on
- 31:01Speaker 1: the Bootleg cap podcast and you see us partnering with brands,
- 31:04Speaker 1: we're very selective about who we connect with. And Raffi
- 31:08Speaker 1: is someone who's actually helped my family, helped my wife
- 31:11Speaker 1: get a settlement, all right, has helped over seventy thousand
- 31:14Speaker 1: people in Arizona. No matter what happens. Man car accident
- 31:19Speaker 1: crash injury. You maybe get bit by a dog. I
- 31:22Speaker 1: don't know, whatever it is. Raffi Law Group makes the
- 31:25Speaker 1: process less stressful. They put money in your pocket. Yes,
- 31:29Speaker 1: the name you can trust. You already know, man, Raffi
- 31:32Speaker 1: Law Group. Save the number just in case, because hey,
- 31:35Speaker 1: you get into a car accident tomorrow, you gotta call
- 31:37Speaker 1: Raffi six two three three eight eight four three three
- 31:41Speaker 1: three and want to wish a big happy birthday to
- 31:43Speaker 1: Raffi's just celebrated his fortieth birthday. We had a good
- 31:46Speaker 1: time in Vegas. Fifty cent was there, pauly D was there,
- 31:49Speaker 1: mad Rich was there. E c Rock was there. It
- 31:53Speaker 1: was a movie, all right, Secretary of State was there.
- 31:55Speaker 1: We were just hanging out. Man shot, look shout out
- 31:57Speaker 1: to Brandon Raffi. Don't forget Raffi log The only calling
- 32:01Speaker 1: you to make. If you're an az and you get
- 32:03Speaker 1: into an accident, or you get into any sort of
- 32:05Speaker 1: injury situation, they'll take care you immediately. Call Raffie. Baby.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Let's get back to the podcast. Have you done the
- 32:12Speaker 1: Tokyo run yet?
- 32:13Speaker 2: No?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Really?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Yes?
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh, we gotta make that happen. I got the
- 32:17Speaker 1: homies out there of the Bookie Yeah, connect me Tokyo
- 32:19Speaker 1: is a movie, bro.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I've been trying to get out there since it's twenty twenty.
- 32:23Speaker 1: It is a movie out there. Yeah, what if you
- 32:26Speaker 1: weren't doing music full time and you were forced to
- 32:30Speaker 1: explore other professions? What do you think you gon up doing?
- 32:34Speaker 2: Probably be like a director or more so like an editor,
- 32:39Speaker 2: or like a graphic designer. I like the tedious work
- 32:43Speaker 2: of putting the project together, so something like creative like
- 32:46Speaker 2: that probably be making not as much money as I
- 32:50Speaker 2: am now.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Doing helping creative direction. Or do you feel like AI
- 32:54Speaker 1: is kind of fucking up the game a little? Because
- 32:56Speaker 1: man is it's crazy.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Is definitely a gift that a curse, but you know
- 33:03Speaker 2: it depends on how you you can use it or
- 33:05Speaker 2: abuse it. So the ones who abusing it is definitely
- 33:08Speaker 2: fucking up the culture.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like I'll see, like I do these
- 33:13Speaker 1: new music streams or people senmit music and it's like
- 33:16Speaker 1: the amount of ar artwork that looks like it's just
- 33:18Speaker 1: it's just fresh out of chat GPT. It's like the
- 33:21Speaker 1: same font, the same style.
- 33:22Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, like, but that's how to be doing
- 33:25Speaker 2: the flyers now, to throw it straight in chat.
- 33:27Speaker 1: GPT and it all looks the same exactly. It is diabole.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Do you think there is because even like suit.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Is it suno soon o?
- 33:35Speaker 1: Yeah, soon as a trip soun.
- 33:37Speaker 2: No, it was tough though.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I like using sono, So how do you use it?
- 33:41Speaker 2: So I play this is the thing. Whatever I'm using
- 33:44Speaker 2: sono is like something that I actually played, but it'll
- 33:47Speaker 2: just be an interpolation like if I play it on
- 33:50Speaker 2: if I played a piano or something, right, I say,
- 33:53Speaker 2: turn this into electric guitar or something like that. Ah,
- 33:56Speaker 2: So you know I use it to my tool as
- 33:58Speaker 2: a convenience.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I feel like it's the same thing with
- 34:01Speaker 1: like you know, even like like if you were to
- 34:06Speaker 1: you know, I use Claude to like put together deck
- 34:09Speaker 1: sometimes m hm. But I like it's still like my idea.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like putting together the graphic. I'm like,
- 34:14Speaker 1: all right, put this graphic. It's just like to organize
- 34:16Speaker 1: it as close to like. But I do feel like
- 34:18Speaker 1: there's like this stigma that if you use AI at
- 34:22Speaker 1: all in any of the recording process, people like will
- 34:25Speaker 1: frown upon you. But I think that like it's the
- 34:28Speaker 1: same things when like Serrato first came out and DJs
- 34:31Speaker 1: were like shitting on people who had laptops and that
- 34:34Speaker 1: weren't carrying crates anymore. It's like, well, look I can,
- 34:37Speaker 1: I could do this, but it's a lot easier for
- 34:39Speaker 1: me to do. Like what you just said, if I
- 34:41Speaker 1: play something, I could just dump it in and it'll
- 34:44Speaker 1: just give it to me the way I want it.
- 34:45Speaker 1: It's a tool, and it's just it's more efficient.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I come from the generation when auto tune was just
- 34:50Speaker 2: a regular thing too. Can't stop at sooner and not
- 34:54Speaker 2: talk about auto tune so much different. You know, computers,
- 34:58Speaker 2: technology is gonna happen the inevitable.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So yeah, I think the AI thing is like you said,
- 35:03Speaker 1: it's a gift in a curse.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Man.
- 35:04Speaker 1: It's like, I think you can use it in ways
- 35:07Speaker 1: that can help me. I think even like I I
- 35:10Speaker 1: don't know, maybe you would know this, But is there
- 35:13Speaker 1: AI mixing and mastering thing?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yeah? I think waves they got something to where you
- 35:19Speaker 2: could just upload a song and they give you three
- 35:22Speaker 2: different versions masters of which.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Some artists need that shit because some artists will be
- 35:27Speaker 1: dropping shit because and they I don't know who's mixing.
- 35:32Speaker 1: But I'm like, yo, fam, this shit, this shit sounds horrible.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Nah, you can. You can't just ai yo mixed though,
- 35:40Speaker 2: you still gotta no.
- 35:41Speaker 1: But if you're just like some random bruh like, listen,
- 35:45Speaker 1: I'm telling you. We have these guys submitting songs once
- 35:47Speaker 1: a week at these streams, and the shits, the amount
- 35:50Speaker 1: of horrible mixes and masters that I hear where I'm like,
- 35:53Speaker 1: this is just unlistenable. Yeah, what are we doing here?
- 35:56Speaker 2: Get together?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Put it in ai Have you heard the new Phoenix
- 35:58Speaker 1: Flexing song that's gone viral?
- 36:00Speaker 2: No, I haven't heard it.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I need to get your reaction because this song is
- 36:05Speaker 1: it comes out tonight.
- 36:06Speaker 2: To get my reaction.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Man, it is the most viral song in Los Angeles,
- 36:12Speaker 1: and you're gonna be surprised that this is Phoenix Flexing.
- 36:15Speaker 1: It's a fucking vibe. It's called rubbers.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Okay, set shipships. Let me look right, my bucket's getting bigger.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Watch this movie.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Flood lockets sleep through.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Can't sleep through? They can't. They got no rhythm? Hard
- 36:45Speaker 2: this the whole song.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a preview.
- 36:48Speaker 2: But yeah, so when you start rapping, he don't rap.
- 36:52Speaker 1: It's an eighties fucking pop song.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Is that him singing?
- 36:55Speaker 1: It's Phoenix Flexing singing no Ai. No, he said no Ai.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I don't believe he. Look.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I saw him. I was backstage with him at the
- 37:04Speaker 1: show in uh Ontario. They sold out right at the
- 37:07Speaker 1: Hondason or whatever, and he's like Yo. He's like, I'm
- 37:09Speaker 1: doing a whole random project and he starts playing. So
- 37:14Speaker 1: he starts playing stuff and he's like, yo, let me
- 37:16Speaker 1: play some ship. He puts it up. You know, he's
- 37:17Speaker 1: got like ship like this, like some pop like rock ship.
- 37:21Speaker 2: I would say this, if that's really him, it's fire,
- 37:24Speaker 2: it's viral. If it's Ai, it's just Ai.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Don't it's not Ai.
- 37:28Speaker 2: But if he do a whole project like that and
- 37:30Speaker 2: he got to document the process, I.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Mean, listen, he says, it's not a I. It sounds
- 37:36Speaker 1: like him.
- 37:37Speaker 2: If you think about you know, he probably fooled you.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It comes out tonight on Empire Phoenix Flex gentry there.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I think they're gonna think they're about to put a
- 37:45Speaker 1: real rocket ship behind this record. It's like the number
- 37:48Speaker 1: one song on Instagram. Don't think I got it. It's
- 37:50Speaker 1: going crazy. Phoenix Flex caught one Flexing is uh yeah,
- 37:56Speaker 1: I feel like it's it's it's gonna be It's called rubbers.
- 38:01Speaker 1: That's what's up, Phoenix flexing Rubbers. I think it's called rubbers. Yeah, rubbers. Yeah,
- 38:10Speaker 1: give me shooting videos and shit, it's been crazy. Are
- 38:14Speaker 1: you working on a tour all on the other side
- 38:15Speaker 1: of this?
- 38:16Speaker 3: So?
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's definitely after the album come out. Definitely going
- 38:19Speaker 2: on tour, maybe like three months after yeah, having an announced yet,
- 38:24Speaker 2: so maybe even sooner than that.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Do you uh, do you feel like this album is
- 38:32Speaker 1: like a the most you've ever had a chip on
- 38:35Speaker 1: your shoulder for.
- 38:37Speaker 2: A project, chip on my shoulder, like I gotta remind
- 38:41Speaker 2: you motherfuckers what I do.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I don't.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I don't necessarily feel like chip on my shoulder. It's
- 38:45Speaker 2: more so like, let me continue to do me, continue
- 38:49Speaker 2: to do what people already love me for. You know,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I don't feel like I gotta like reintroduce myself. I'm
- 38:56Speaker 2: just reminding people. But it's not like what a chip
- 38:59Speaker 2: on my shoulder?
- 39:01Speaker 1: Are you still managing yourself?
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yes?
- 39:04Speaker 1: Is that because some artists probably need a manager? But
- 39:09Speaker 1: I feel like you handle so much work yourself anyway.
- 39:12Speaker 1: But do you feel like is that something you would
- 39:15Speaker 1: suggest other artists try to do? No.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I mean it's not something that I'm like, I manage
- 39:22Speaker 2: myself like you know, but the fact that I'm able
- 39:25Speaker 2: to I do take with pride. But I do think
- 39:28Speaker 2: it's important to have a team if you that's something
- 39:32Speaker 2: that I would highly recommend, especially if you finish think
- 39:35Speaker 2: you're just managing yourself and it's just you the artist,
- 39:37Speaker 2: you still got to have a team, Like I couldn't
- 39:39Speaker 2: do nothing I'm doing alone.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it's like almost like if you're
- 39:43Speaker 1: an athlete. Like some athletes, it makes sense that they
- 39:47Speaker 1: decided not have an agent because they're pretty sharp and
- 39:50Speaker 1: figure it out. But then there's some guys where you're like, wait,
- 39:52Speaker 1: he don't got an agent. Like Ace Bailey came into
- 39:55Speaker 1: the league, and it's like uncle's homie was like agent
- 39:59Speaker 1: and it was like, so, yeah, I feel it's kind
- 40:01Speaker 1: of similar.
- 40:02Speaker 2: But it's just taking my time with it though. You know,
- 40:04Speaker 2: I saw the Michael Jackson movie and it was crazy
- 40:07Speaker 2: because he didn't even have a manager at one point,
- 40:10Speaker 2: right it was just him and his attorney. I would say,
- 40:13Speaker 2: you having a relationship with your attorney is more than
- 40:16Speaker 2: more important than you.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Having a good attorney is very important yes, yes, someone
- 40:20Speaker 1: you trust exactly. Well, listen, Labor of Love is coming
- 40:22Speaker 1: out June twelfth. It's next Friday, June twelth, Is that right? Yep, yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 1: next Friday tour following hopefully in the next few months. Yeah,
- 40:34Speaker 1: hopefully we get a new six tape. Is this going
- 40:37Speaker 1: to be the last of the new music you drop
- 40:39Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six? Do you think you got some
- 40:41Speaker 1: more in you? I mean, obviously we're halfway through the year,
- 40:43Speaker 1: so you take care.
- 40:44Speaker 2: You never know, We never know. I'm staying creative for sure,
- 40:47Speaker 2: but you know, I like to take my time at
- 40:49Speaker 2: this point. I ain't got nothing to prove. I want
- 40:52Speaker 2: to put out the best bodies of work, best music.
- 40:55Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 40:57Speaker 3: We got to give you these socks for mom, socks

- 41:12Speaker 2: Where's my cut?
- 41:14Speaker 1: No, No, those socks are not They never sold those socks.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Hey, this ship is fired. I ain't lie. Yeah, socks, man.
- 41:21Speaker 1: They got the eagle pendent on there not an advertisement,
- 41:24Speaker 1: but yeah, yeah, no, no, yeah, of course they're not
- 41:26Speaker 1: selling them without ye. They just were like, yeah, we
- 41:28Speaker 1: made some socks for Blast. That's dope. There you go.
