- 0:26Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:31Speaker 1: with us inside the Treehouse. I'm gan O Malley along
- 0:34Speaker 1: with Trey Trenholm and Raj Shimra on a Wednesday, October
- 0:40Speaker 1: twenty three, twenty twenty four. I guess I should start
- 0:48Speaker 1: the show with apologizing. Mm hmm, because yesterday inside the Treehouse,
- 0:56Speaker 1: as we were doing celebrity birthdays, I own I did
- 1:00Speaker 1: a birthday.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You forgot.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I don't forget your birthday. I mentioned your birthday early
- 1:07Speaker 1: on in the show when I was talking about the
- 1:10Speaker 1: crap strap that my wife sent me, not the actual
- 1:13Speaker 1: crap strap, but just a post about it on Instagram,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and I said, hey, maybe I'll get you one of
- 1:17Speaker 1: these for your birthday. And so I didn't completely forget
- 1:20Speaker 1: about your birthday on your birthday, I just didn't include
- 1:23Speaker 1: it in the birthday's section. Yeah. Sorry, it's okay.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I I just know where I stand, So that's good
- 1:32Speaker 2: to know.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, with the crap strap, you don't have to stand.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You can pooh while leaning in a number two position
- 1:38Speaker 1: anywhere where's a stable object to strap yourself too.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I felt like you took the crap strap and took
- 1:44Speaker 2: a dump on my birthday.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So well, if we're being honest, I think it's a
- 1:48Speaker 1: stable enough product if you buy the actual one from
- 1:51Speaker 1: the air Boss decoys, not the weird Chinese versions with
- 1:56Speaker 1: weird letters and stuff. Because in the midials it shows
- 2:01Speaker 1: that you know, you can attach it to a tree
- 2:03Speaker 1: or a trailer hitch and you can do your business comfortably.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But honestly, I think if you can find a strong
- 2:10Speaker 1: enough support structure, you could lean right over the edge
- 2:15Speaker 1: of a building and get me as I'm walking by.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I mean it's good to know that you know,
- 2:23Speaker 2: we've been friends for twenty some odd years and you
- 2:27Speaker 2: forgot my birthday.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I didn't forget it. I just didn't include it in birthdays.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Tray sent me a text message saying happy birthday. I
- 2:36Speaker 2: hope you have a great day to day. That was
- 2:38Speaker 2: very nice. I didn't get one from you. Look what
- 2:47Speaker 2: had happened? Was Is that what you want to start with?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah? Thank you? See what had happened was I remembered
- 2:56Speaker 1: and that I forgot. Yes, that's so I think highly
- 3:01Speaker 1: of you enough to remember briefly but then forget.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yes, thank you so much. That's you are the crop
- 3:08Speaker 2: strap of friendships and the Chinese version, not even the
- 3:13Speaker 2: American version.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, not the good one for sixty nine dollars.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm like the thirty nine version you get from kyong Ying.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I apologize for not including your birthday in birthdays. Okay,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you want. I will do my best to remember to
- 3:30Speaker 1: stick it in today in the special belated section.
- 3:34Speaker 2: There's not a blated section.
- 3:36Speaker 1: There will be specifically for you. I'm going to do that, okay.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But I do think I have something that will make
- 3:43Speaker 1: you feel a little bit better.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You love a good news blooper, right, I do. Then
- 3:50Speaker 1: I've got something that I think that I think will
- 3:54Speaker 1: make you feel a little bit better. So consider this
- 3:57Speaker 1: my belated birthday present to you. Okay, Okay, I'm going
- 4:01Speaker 1: to take you to Canada to the Global News and
- 4:07Speaker 1: before Christmas and sometime recently, like last year, year before
- 4:12Speaker 1: or something like that, they were doing a giving thing.
- 4:15Speaker 1: You know, that's where it's like a toy drive or
- 4:17Speaker 1: something like toys for tots. Here they were doing a
- 4:20Speaker 1: giving promotion at Global News Canada, and they put their
- 4:26Speaker 1: reporter out in the field and the parking lot of
- 4:30Speaker 1: the television station and on their morning show. They were
- 4:33Speaker 1: going through elf names, and they did the elf name
- 4:37Speaker 1: bit right before going to the reporter doing the good
- 4:41Speaker 1: for the community bit in the parking lot of the
- 4:45Speaker 1: TV station. Here you have Canadian anchors pitching it to
- 4:51Speaker 1: the Canadian field reporter with elf names. Okay, here we go.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Part in our morning a giving today, Leslie Hort.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We got Leslie's name too, did we not?
- 5:03Speaker 3: Peach's cookie fingers?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Peach's cookie finger down in the parking lot?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Okay, what is that my stripper name?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Elf?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Christmas Elf?
- 5:20Speaker 1: This is another great example, and Trey and I have
- 5:22Speaker 1: seen this many many times in our broadcast communications careers.
- 5:26Speaker 1: How the communications industry is very poor at communicating within itself.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Because this poor reporter is on location outside the building
- 5:35Speaker 1: doing the community service thing, right, The anchors inside just
- 5:39Speaker 1: did a whole segment on what their elf names are,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and clearly the reporter outside didn't hear any of that,
- 5:46Speaker 1: so she has no idea what's going on, and so
- 5:48Speaker 1: she's left to come up with what the hell does
- 5:51Speaker 1: Peach's cookie fingers mean? And she goes straight to stripper name?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, would you get a dance from Peach's cookie fingers?
- 6:00Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think I would.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Uh well, it depends on the flavor cookie.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Okay, nutterer butter.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah peach but yeah, Peach's nutter butter.
- 6:15Speaker 1: That works on a couple different levels. All right, So here,
- 6:17Speaker 1: let's go back to the beginning. This is the news
- 6:19Speaker 1: blooper from Global News talking about their elf names for
- 6:22Speaker 1: one another, and the outside reporter wasn't quite included part.
- 6:26Speaker 4: In our morning of giving today our Leslie.
- 6:29Speaker 5: We got Leslie's name too, did we not?
- 6:32Speaker 3: Peaches cookie fingers?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Peaches cookie finger down in the parking lot?
- 6:37Speaker 3: Okay, what is that?
- 6:40Speaker 2: My stripper name elf?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Christmas.
- 6:46Speaker 1: One of the things I love when when you get
- 6:49Speaker 1: a really good news blooper is when you can hear
- 6:53Speaker 1: the production staff, the non on camera people. We're talking
- 6:57Speaker 1: to camera operators, floor directors, producers, interns. When you can
- 7:01Speaker 1: hear their laughter off camera, that's a that's a classic,
- 7:05Speaker 1: And that's exactly what you get here.
- 7:07Speaker 3: My stripper name, stripper name else Christmas, Peaches sticky fingers.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Oh god, I would get a dance from Peacha sticky fingers.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Say that again.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I would get a dance from Peacha sticky fingers. All day.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Well, I think it would be all day.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Sticky.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It's it's hard to wash off.
- 7:45Speaker 2: We don't ask how they're so sticky. We just appreciate it.
- 7:52Speaker 4: I mean in that just a Tuesday in San Marcos.

- 8:53Speaker 1: that fair lease has and they can bring it to you.

- 10:34Speaker 1: with uh Raj, We'll start with you. Okay, let me
- 10:39Speaker 1: type this since misspelled your name already. R A J
- 10:42Speaker 1: s a j R. Sharma Elf name Generator. What is
- 10:46Speaker 1: Raj's elf name?
- 10:48Speaker 2: Okay?

- 10:56Speaker 2: Yes that I actually enjoy that Twist mary Bottom. It's
- 11:04Speaker 2: the British elf.

- 11:12Speaker 1: Trey Trenham, your elf name is like inter Fisbee Jingles.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I I he looks like a Fisby Jingles.
- 11:24Speaker 1: He really yeah, I'm kind of with you there.
- 11:27Speaker 2: He just comes up to you. I'm Fisby Jingles. Morning
- 11:32Speaker 2: is mister Dingles.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And mine is my elf name Blitz Holly Toes.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yes, of course name. Your first would be Blitz. There's
- 11:49Speaker 2: got such a meathead name. The elf generator knows you
- 11:54Speaker 2: work out every day. Blitz, bro How was how.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Is that not a name for a football? I name
- 12:00Speaker 1: my kid blitz. Yeah, like Dick Butcks. If he had kids,
- 12:03Speaker 1: how did he not name one of them Blitz? Yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: because then you'd have blitz Blitz butck is running around.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Hell yeah, dude, but what is it? Blitz?
- 12:12Speaker 1: What blitz? Holly toes?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Holly toes. Yeah, it's manly and a little femine at
- 12:18Speaker 2: the end. Yeah, I like it.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That's actually kind of a good way to describe me,
- 12:23Speaker 1: I think.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Fizsby Jingles, that just works.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Yeah, well I'm I'm I'm manly to start and feminine
- 12:30Speaker 1: to finish.

- 12:33Speaker 2: he owns a pub. Where do you guys going to?
- 12:36Speaker 2: We're going to Fizby Jingles.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You can have offshoots just simply called the Fizby.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the name of the signature drink, the Fisbey.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's just topa Chico in the line.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Uh because he's sober, because mister Jingles is sober. Meanwhile, uh,

- 12:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. Twist Mary Bottom, Come on, now, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you know that Gal likes to get around.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'm so glad we did this wealth name generator. Good job,
- 13:13Speaker 1: Thank you Canada. All right, speaking of news, I know
- 13:20Speaker 1: that there was controversy inside the Treehouse just a couple
- 13:23Speaker 1: of weeks ago, and we talked about a new national
- 13:25Speaker 1: survey where it was decided that BUCkies ranked third in
- 13:32Speaker 1: a national survey for best convenience store.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yea.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And part of the reason why BUCkies has such a
- 13:39Speaker 1: good reputation is because the bathrooms are so nice, they're clean,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and they're huge. So maybe that's why the Internet algorithm
- 13:49Speaker 1: decided to share this news story with me. There's a
- 13:53Speaker 1: winner of America's Best Restroom contest. So I'd like to
- 13:59Speaker 1: point out that we've had or have American Idol, America's
- 14:07Speaker 1: Next Top Model, and now we have America's Best Bathroom.
- 14:14Speaker 1: And this is not its first year. This is America's
- 14:16Speaker 1: Best Bathroom twenty twenty four. The winner of twenty twenty
- 14:25Speaker 1: fours America's Best Restroom is a Maverick service station, purveyor
- 14:31Speaker 1: of gasoline food located near Salt Lake City International Airport. Okay, so, Roj,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you're the only one I know that's been to Utah
- 14:41Speaker 1: recently does the Maverick Service Center ring of Bell It does, Yes, Okay.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's kind of a chain. I bought a trucker hat
- 14:52Speaker 2: from one of them in outside of Salt Lake, but
- 14:55Speaker 2: I have not been to this one near the airport.
- 14:57Speaker 2: But they are very clean and they have a very
- 14:58Speaker 2: nice they have. They serve sandwiches, and it's apparently I
- 15:03Speaker 2: had one from there. They're the best sandwiches that you
- 15:05Speaker 2: can you can get around in Utah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yes, there you go. In its twenty third year, the
- 15:11Speaker 1: contest highlights some of America's cleanest, most innovative, and most
- 15:16Speaker 1: decorative places to take care of personal business. Sponsored by
- 15:20Speaker 1: national cleaning company Sintas, the contest allows people to suggest
- 15:23Speaker 1: bathrooms across the country. Voting on the top ten nominations
- 15:27Speaker 1: was held this past summer, and the winner was announced
- 15:29Speaker 1: Tuesday last Tuesday afternoon, right, Actually, I think it was yesterday.
- 15:34Speaker 1: The Maverick chain has more than three hundred and eighty
- 15:37Speaker 1: stations scattered across twelve Western states, with its largest concentration
- 15:43Speaker 1: in Utah. The nominations said that Mavericks' restrooms deserve recognition
- 15:49Speaker 1: for their commitment to cleanliness, comfort, sparkling fixtures, spacious stalls,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and fresh amenities, and, according to a spokesperson for the contest,
- 15:58Speaker 1: the winning location, you want to visit it two seventy
- 16:02Speaker 1: nine South fifty six hundred West, Salt Lake City, Utah,
- 16:05Speaker 1: eight four one zero four. You know, just in case
- 16:08Speaker 1: you want to get to the krim de la Creme
- 16:11Speaker 1: of the best Bathrooms in the United States twenty twenty four.
- 16:15Speaker 2: What are the amenities I would like? Do they do?
- 16:17Speaker 2: They say, I've never been to a bathroom that offered amenities.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I've been to a bathroom that offered condoms. That's but
- 16:25Speaker 2: that's mostly a loves Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I don't think they have that option at Carl's Corner.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 1: No, you're just raw dogged it on thirty years.
- 16:34Speaker 2: You're going. You're going bare back in those on those
- 16:37Speaker 2: on those.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Cowgirls, which is good because they come with handles. Yes, uh,
- 16:45Speaker 1: now this has According to this, the Maverick bathrooms have
- 16:49Speaker 1: soothing earth tones, murals of snow covered mountains, and blue sky,
- 16:54Speaker 1: shiny gleaming fixtures. What traveler wouldn't want to go in
- 16:58Speaker 1: a place like that?
- 17:00Speaker 2: You know, I find it hard to go without a mural,
- 17:05Speaker 2: said no one ever.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't remember the mural work inside BUCkies.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what your crapper needs paintings like like
- 17:16Speaker 2: I've never I need inspiration. Yes, I need to feel
- 17:21Speaker 2: like I'm taking a dump on a snow covered mountain.
- 17:24Speaker 1: There you go.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I need to drop these in the rockies like that.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because I don't think you I don't think. I don't.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I don't think a Banksy painting would work, because that's
- 17:36Speaker 1: usually if something war torn and nasty. That doesn't make
- 17:39Speaker 1: you want to go number two.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, don't.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I don't think I'm going to be inspired to take
- 17:43Speaker 1: a dump if there's a mural of the Gaza Strip
- 17:45Speaker 1: in front of me.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm just saying, if you if you go to
- 17:48Speaker 2: a loves and it's hard to tell if that's somebody
- 17:50Speaker 2: had an accident or if that's a Jackson Pollock like
- 17:52Speaker 2: you don't know.
- 17:57Speaker 1: It also makes it also makes the number difficul cult

- 20:16Speaker 1: about the whim Hoff Method. Raj, are you familiar with
- 20:19Speaker 1: the wim Hoff Method?
- 20:20Speaker 2: I am not Trey.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You know about the wim Hoff right, I do so, Raj.
- 20:27Speaker 1: The wim Hoff Method is a breathing cold therapy and
- 20:32Speaker 1: commitment to help you connect more deeply to your body. Itols.
- 20:36Speaker 1: It involves powerful inhalation, relaxed exhalation, and prolonged breatholds. Proponents
- 20:44Speaker 1: say the technique can lead to increased immunity and better sleep.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Opponents would tell you that it killed their son.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with the latter. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 20:57Speaker 2: believe them a better sleep.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, when Emily Smith brought her son a guide
- 21:05Speaker 1: to the wim Hoff Method last summer, he quickly became hooked.
- 21:09Speaker 1: She never imagined that just a few weeks later, her
- 21:12Speaker 1: only child would be dead after reportedly trying the book's
- 21:15Speaker 1: wellness theories. Her son was twenty three and named Nova.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Hmmm, yeah okay.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Smith feels her son Nova that it was pretty much
- 21:33Speaker 1: a guaranteed death sentence the wim Hoff Method. His case
- 21:37Speaker 1: is just one of at least eleven fatalities reportedly linked
- 21:42Speaker 1: to the method. That's according to a Sunday Times investigation.
- 21:45Speaker 1: A spokesperson for weim Hoff said the guide warns users
- 21:49Speaker 1: not to hold their breath underwater for extended periods, known
- 21:55Speaker 1: as the Iceman sixty five year old Hoff So. The
- 21:58Speaker 1: wim Hoff Method is named for a man named wim Hoff.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Oh gotcha?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Okay. The method has been met with widespread acclaim from
- 22:06Speaker 1: health experts as well as celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Liam Hemsworth,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Jack Dorsey, and Oprah Okay yeah. His best selling book,
- 22:17Speaker 1: The whim Hoff Method, Activate Your Full Human Potential, is
- 22:21Speaker 1: presented as a way to keep your body in mind
- 22:23Speaker 1: and it's optible in its optimal natural state through exposure
- 22:27Speaker 1: to sub zero temperatures and breathwork. Well, it didn't work
- 22:32Speaker 1: out so well for miss Smith and her son. Nova Smith,
- 22:36Speaker 1: who's fifty one, and his messuse bravely recalled her son's
- 22:39Speaker 1: final moments at her mother's gated community pool in Kingwood, Houston,
- 22:44Speaker 1: July seventeenth, twenty twenty three. She said she can't watch
- 22:51Speaker 1: the video, but she shared disturbing poolside footage of the
- 22:53Speaker 1: fateful evening in the hopes of raising awareness about the
- 22:56Speaker 1: risks attached to the whim Hoff method. You said, it
- 22:58Speaker 1: was a very hot July afternoon. I was the one
- 23:01Speaker 1: that suggested we go for a quick swim. We got
- 23:03Speaker 1: there and it was just normal. Everything was fine. There
- 23:04Speaker 1: was nothing extraordinary about any of it. Nova, her son
- 23:08Speaker 1: suggested they both try whim Hoff's breathing and water submersion method,
- 23:12Speaker 1: which involves hyperventilating before dipping below the surface and holding
- 23:15Speaker 1: your breath. She said, I was mimicking him. We did
- 23:19Speaker 1: it about three times coming up for air. She said.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I did ask him at one point is this safe?
- 23:24Speaker 1: And he said something to the effect of, of course
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's safe, mom, it's whim Hoff. At this point, she said,
- 23:31Speaker 1: she decided to start swimming laps instead of doing more
- 23:33Speaker 1: breath work while Nova continued practicing the exercises.
- 23:40Speaker 4: You know whose kids won't die from the wim Hoff method?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Is that true?
- 23:44Speaker 4: Melanated people?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's correct. Nova was white? Correct? Nova was white?
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah, yeah, So Mama Smith recalled, I remember quick.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So she and her son were doing whim Hoff method
- 24:08Speaker 1: in the pool. They did it out three.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Times, hyperventilating and then submerging yourself underwater.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah. So they did that three times and then she
- 24:17Speaker 1: decided I'm going to swim some laps instead. She said.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It was a serene night, and she said, I stopped
- 24:23Speaker 1: to say a prayer at the deep end of the
- 24:24Speaker 1: pool while looking up at the sky. It was a
- 24:26Speaker 1: beautiful night. But the amount of time it took for
- 24:29Speaker 1: me to say that prayer was when my son passed
- 24:32Speaker 1: out and sank to the bottom of the shallow wind.
- 24:36Speaker 1: She said. I looked back and I didn't see him.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I thought to myself, he can't possibly be holding his
- 24:39Speaker 1: breath for that long, she said. I swam as fast
- 24:44Speaker 1: as I could, and I saw the silhouette of him
- 24:46Speaker 1: under the water, with no one else around, a nightfall
- 24:47Speaker 1: closing in. She had no choice but to haul her
- 24:49Speaker 1: six foot two inch son Nova from the water by herself.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I breathed air into his lungs and was telling myself,
- 24:59Speaker 1: he's going to be fine, He's going to be fine.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Then I just started screaming, Nova, Nova, Nova. A Neighborhoard Smith,
- 25:07Speaker 1: screams and came running to her aid with his young
- 25:09Speaker 1: daughter in tow. She said, my son died quickly. In fact,
- 25:13Speaker 1: when I retrieved him from the water, I think he
- 25:15Speaker 1: was already dead. It took under two minutes. She said.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I did not know that because of hyperventilating, you can
- 25:22Speaker 1: become hypoxic, not a regular drowning. With a regular drowning,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you have more time. But with this your brain is
- 25:29Speaker 1: in an oxygen deficit already. It's quick, and it's silent,
- 25:32Speaker 1: and he just passed out without his knowledge. It's pretty
- 25:35Speaker 1: much a guaranteed death sentence for her son Nova, And
- 25:39Speaker 1: now she's sharing her story for all as a cautionary
- 25:42Speaker 1: tale to doing the whim Hoff method. I commend her
- 25:47Speaker 1: bravery for sharing the story, not only for trying to
- 25:52Speaker 1: avoid tragedy befalling another family, but also having the courage
- 25:56Speaker 1: to say that her son drowned in the shallow wind
- 25:58Speaker 1: of the pool.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I guess he wasn't a super nova.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Jod Gosh. I'm gonna go home now.

- 27:12Speaker 1: Hangman's dot com. That is Hangman's dot com. I think
- 27:18Speaker 1: the only thing stupid or than practicing the whim Hoff
- 27:20Speaker 1: method in a pool at night, well two things. Number
- 27:25Speaker 1: one is how sad it must be for the mom
- 27:27Speaker 1: who decided to do laps might have swam past her
- 27:31Speaker 1: drowning son a couple of times before noticing you was
- 27:34Speaker 1: in trouble. The other thing, the only other thing I
- 27:36Speaker 1: can think of dumber than doing the wim hom and
- 27:39Speaker 1: doing the whim Hoff method in a pool at night
- 27:41Speaker 1: with your mama ignoring you, is watching most of the
- 27:46Speaker 1: movies I've seen, but I feel like you guys, can
- 27:51Speaker 1: you know, try to disagree a little bit that makes
- 27:53Speaker 1: me feel nice?
- 27:54Speaker 2: No, no, thank you both.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Then meanwhile, I'd like to point out that there are
- 28:03Speaker 1: some movies I have not seen, and I should just
- 28:06Speaker 1: clarify that by saying yet, because I will watch just
- 28:10Speaker 1: about anything. So when I saw this, in which NASA
- 28:15Speaker 1: has chosen the most realistic and least realistic science fiction movies,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I thought, Okay, this is kind of fun, this is up,
- 28:25Speaker 1: this is up my alley because I like lots of movies,
- 28:28Speaker 1: and chances are I've seen these, and I'm I often
- 28:30Speaker 1: will watch a sci fi type movie and think, is
- 28:33Speaker 1: this realistic? Like raj you brought that up not that
- 28:36Speaker 1: long ago about you know Jason ten Jason X. That's
- 28:40Speaker 1: the one where Jason goes to space and how believable
- 28:45Speaker 1: is it that already a supernatural creature can exist? But then,
- 28:51Speaker 1: on top of that gets cryogenically frozen in the first
- 28:53Speaker 1: part of the twenty first century and then thawed out
- 28:56Speaker 1: in the twenty fifth century to wreak havoc on a
- 28:58Speaker 1: high school spaceship. But yeah, but there are some more
- 29:03Speaker 1: plausible scientific based films and NASA says the most realistic
- 29:09Speaker 1: science fiction movie ever is. You guys, want to take
- 29:13Speaker 1: a guess, I will give you a hint. It is
- 29:16Speaker 1: not space based, but it is sci fi.
- 29:19Speaker 2: It's not space based, but it is science fiction.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yeah. According to NASA, this movie is the most realistic
- 29:27Speaker 1: science fiction movie ever made.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Contact.
- 29:35Speaker 1: You know what, Trey, I'm gonna give that to you
- 29:38Speaker 1: only because there's lots of sci fi movies and it's
- 29:40Speaker 1: hard to get close. They actually, according to NASA, picked
- 29:45Speaker 1: Contact as second most realistic. So not number one, but
- 29:50Speaker 1: number two. So that's a really good guess.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Number one of the never ending story.
- 29:57Speaker 1: No, that's not even sci fi, that's just straight up fantasy.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Oh no, So, NASA years ago decided that Gatica was
- 30:08Speaker 1: the most realistic science fiction film ever done. It starred
- 30:12Speaker 1: Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law. It's about parents
- 30:14Speaker 1: having their kids genetically engineered to produce the best traits.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Have you guys seen Gatica?
- 30:22Speaker 2: No?
- 30:24Speaker 1: I did I think it was. It's a good movie.
- 30:28Speaker 1: This is not one of the Dan specials that it's
- 30:31Speaker 1: a very bad movie. And this is actually a good film.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I've seen it, but it's been a long time, because,
- 30:35Speaker 1: like Contact, Gatica also came out in nineteen ninety seven,
- 30:39Speaker 1: so it's a little bit older film.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Oh wow, Okay.
- 30:42Speaker 1: The third on the list of NASA's most realistic science
- 30:47Speaker 1: fiction films is the nineteen twenty seven classic Metropolis, which
- 30:51Speaker 1: is about class conflict in a dystopian future. So those that's,
- 30:55Speaker 1: according to NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratories, the three
- 30:59Speaker 1: most realistic science fiction films. And now I don't have
- 31:02Speaker 1: the complete list. This is not AFI's top one hundred.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Where can go down and find other science fiction films,
- 31:08Speaker 1: Like I wonder if they think Interstellar would be scientifically accurate.
- 31:14Speaker 1: They may not know, because it kind of involves black
- 31:16Speaker 1: holes and things and speed of light and all the math.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't even know if that's accurate. I trust Christopher Nolan,
- 31:21Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, he's a great director,
- 31:23Speaker 1: not an astronaut.
- 31:23Speaker 4: And Contact had a lot of those things as well.
- 31:27Speaker 4: I just only reason I guess Contact is Carl Sagan
- 31:30Speaker 4: was known to research his books quite a bit.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, where does a Where does the Wrath of con Rink?
- 31:38Speaker 1: Again, I don't have the entire list. All I have
- 31:40Speaker 1: is the top three of the most realistic.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Because that had Ricardo montalban and that should that should
- 31:46Speaker 2: put you in the top five at least.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it should because you know that the fabric of
- 31:52Speaker 1: his captain's chair was fine, put into a leather.
- 31:56Speaker 2: That's right.
- 32:01Speaker 1: So now that you know the three most realistic, now
- 32:03Speaker 1: we need to know the three least realistic science fiction films.
- 32:07Speaker 1: According to NASA, those are Armageddon nineteen ninety eight's Armageddon
- 32:14Speaker 1: with Bruce Willison Ben Affleck. They said, Nope, not realistic.
- 32:17Speaker 1: That's third least realistic.
- 32:19Speaker 2: So you're saying, you're saying that a ragtag group of
- 32:24Speaker 2: oil well construction people that go to the an asteroid
- 32:29Speaker 2: and put a nuclear bomb is not possible.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Well, they didn't say it's not possible. They just said
- 32:35Speaker 1: it's the least realistic. They didn't shatter all of our dreams.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Gotcha? Gotcha?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Okay, The Core, which is twos out Jesus Christ two
- 32:45Speaker 1: thousand three movie where scientists have to drill to the
- 32:48Speaker 1: center of the Earth in order to restart its rotation.
- 32:51Speaker 1: So apparently NASA is not big on drilling.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:56Speaker 1: The number one film though, that NASA said is the
- 32:58Speaker 1: least realistic science fiction movie ever made. The movie twenty
- 33:04Speaker 1: twelve starring John Cusack shockingly Jason ten where Jason goes
- 33:10Speaker 1: to space, is not at the top of NASA's list
- 33:12Speaker 1: of least realistic, which means it's more realistic, yes than
- 33:18Speaker 1: twenty twelve and our mcgeddon.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yes, And it's good to know that it takes four
- 33:23Speaker 2: centuries to thaw out of Jason.
- 33:25Speaker 1: It does because he's been But let's not fool ourselves.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Jason is not the only horror movie legend to have
- 33:32Speaker 1: traveled to space.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh, there have been more.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Uh huh? Did you know that the best traveled horror
- 33:41Speaker 1: icon is the Leprechaun.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna hate myself for this, but please tell me more.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Dan, thank you very much for asking me that. Because
- 33:54Speaker 1: while Jason did most of his killing in campgrounds, he
- 33:58Speaker 1: did go to New York City one once. That was
- 34:01Speaker 1: Part eight where he took Manhattan and then he eventually
- 34:03Speaker 1: goes to space. Freddy is just in the dreams. There's
- 34:06Speaker 1: nothing big on that and he pretty much stayed centered
- 34:08Speaker 1: around Elm Street. Not much of a traveler. The Leprechaun, No,
- 34:12Speaker 1: that Leprechaun got around. Yeah, the Leprechaun has not only
- 34:16Speaker 1: gone to Space. Uh, but he also went to Vegas.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and he's been to the Hood twice.
- 34:26Speaker 2: All right, he's been to the hood, like the Leprechaun
- 34:32Speaker 2: in Harlem.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Is that no? No?
- 34:34Speaker 2: Like l a Oh so he went to South Central. Yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 2: so the lypra Con and Compton.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Uh, you've got Leprechaun in the hood and Leprechaun back
- 34:46Speaker 1: to number two. The Hood is a cripper of blood.
- 34:52Speaker 1: That's I'm glad you asked Trey. It's it's an emotional
- 34:56Speaker 1: film where he has to he has to decide.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I would pay so, you know what, I take it back,
- 35:06Speaker 2: I would pay solid money. They'll watch a Leprechaun crip walk.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Me too.

- 36:29Speaker 1: to that end, I want to tell you more now
- 36:32Speaker 1: about leprechnfive, also known as leprechnfive in the Hood. This
- 36:39Speaker 1: tells you a couple of things. One is that the
- 36:42Speaker 1: Leprechawn movie franchise was successful enough to have four films
- 36:46Speaker 1: before he ever goes to the hood. Yes, okay, and
- 36:50Speaker 1: this stars These leprechan films starred Warwick Davis, who is
- 36:55Speaker 1: a film icon and may he rest in piece he's
- 36:57Speaker 1: passed away now right.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Don't know who that is?
- 37:01Speaker 1: You don't know Warwick Davis, Willow? You know, little little Willow.
- 37:08Speaker 1: He also played R two D two. Oh yeah, okay,
- 37:13Speaker 1: Warwick d Okay, anyway, Warwick Davis, film icon? What is it? Trey?
- 37:18Speaker 4: So it had come to in the end he all
- 37:20Speaker 4: I could get was a Leprechaun part. And you're you're
- 37:25Speaker 4: you're saying, that's a like an achievement. You got five
- 37:28Speaker 4: of them.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I think it was like seven.
- 37:33Speaker 2: And seven seven movies, and iced tea was was in
- 37:37Speaker 2: one yes, iced teas in anything. You know what, you
- 37:45Speaker 2: can ice teeth in my backyard right now, I've paid
- 37:48Speaker 2: enough money. He's just hanging out, all right.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Look, let me at least uh tell you a little
- 37:53Speaker 1: about the film franchise before you you poop all over
- 37:56Speaker 1: it YouTube film snobs. Leprechaun in the Hood also known
- 38:00Speaker 1: Leprechaun five Leprechon five in the Hood is a two
- 38:04Speaker 1: thousand American black comedy horror film directed by Rob Spara
- 38:08Speaker 1: and the fifth installment in the Leprechaun series. It follows
- 38:11Speaker 1: Warwick Davis as the evil Leprekahn Lubden, who searches for
- 38:15Speaker 1: his magic flute that three hoodlums stole and kills anyone
- 38:19Speaker 1: who gets in his way. The film was released direct
- 38:22Speaker 1: to video March twenty eight, two thousand.
- 38:24Speaker 2: UH.
- 38:27Speaker 1: It was the last entry to be released by Trimark Pictures,
- 38:31Speaker 1: which disbanded in two thousand and one. So the last
- 38:36Speaker 1: movie Trimark Pictures did was Leprechaun in the Hood. So
- 38:40Speaker 1: it killed the studio and I think I know why.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Here's the plot to Leprechawn five Leprechawn in the hood
- 38:48Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, California. Mac Daddy Onassis Yes and.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Slug Oh you know Slug he crazy.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Discover a hidden room full of gold, along with a
- 39:01Speaker 1: leprechaun that has been kept as a statue by a
- 39:03Speaker 1: medallion on its neck. Macdaddy takes a gold flute, but
- 39:07Speaker 1: Slug removes the medallion, freeing the leprechaun, who then kills Slug.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Macdaddy manages to trap the leprechaun with the medallion again
- 39:14Speaker 1: before leaving with the flute. Twenty years later, want to
- 39:18Speaker 1: be rap artists Postmaster P, stray Bullet, and Butch have
- 39:23Speaker 1: their speaker destroyed while while at an audition after failing
- 39:26Speaker 1: to sell a guitar they falsely claim belong to Jimmy
- 39:29Speaker 1: Hendrix to pawn shop owners Jackie d Redding and Chow
- 39:32Speaker 1: for money to buy a new speaker. Stray Bullet manages
- 39:35Speaker 1: to convince Macdaddy, now a successful record producer, to pick
- 39:38Speaker 1: them up. However, he drops them when Postmaster P refuses
- 39:41Speaker 1: to make his music more aggressive. As revenge, the friends
- 39:48Speaker 1: break into Macdaddy's office to rob it. When Macdaddy returns
- 39:51Speaker 1: in the middle of the robbery, postmaster P panics and
- 39:53Speaker 1: shoots him in the chest, thinking he's killed. In postmaster
- 39:55Speaker 1: P steals the golden flute off of Macdaddy's wrist. During
- 39:58Speaker 1: the chaos butch accident, they freeze the Leprechaun by stealing
- 40:01Speaker 1: the ambulet off his stone body. The leprecha hunts the
- 40:05Speaker 1: friends with the help of his zombie fly girls Yes,
- 40:10Speaker 1: in order to recover his stolen flute.
- 40:14Speaker 2: I wonder why the studio shut down.
- 40:16Speaker 1: This is.
- 40:19Speaker 2: This is just so good.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Little Warwick Davis has got to be thinking this entire time.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I was Willow.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah, No, he's out. Like before every take he's like
- 40:31Speaker 2: and they're like, are you guys ready for you? We're
- 40:33Speaker 2: about to take the next scene. He's like, did the
- 40:34Speaker 2: check go through? All right, Let's do the next scene.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Let's do the next scene. Can you imagine that's where
- 40:42Speaker 2: your life comes to?
- 40:46Speaker 4: I just I just want to see the gang party
- 40:48Speaker 4: where the guy shows up with a flute.
- 40:54Speaker 8: I just want to meet the black guy that steals one.

- 41:55Speaker 1: I knew I misspoke when I said that Warwick Davis
- 41:59Speaker 1: play R two D two, I was totally wrong. That
- 42:02Speaker 1: was Kenny Baker. Kenny Baker was the pint size actor
- 42:06Speaker 1: who was in the trash can known as R two
- 42:09Speaker 1: D two. Warwick Davis in his Star Wars adventures was

- 42:19Speaker 1: the Jedi back in the day. So Warwick Davis played
- 42:22Speaker 1: Wicket the Ewok, not R two D two. So cecil
- 42:26Speaker 1: email angry inflamed correspondence towards me, I mispoke, my bad
- 42:30Speaker 1: and my apologies to Kenny Baker. He is the one
- 42:33Speaker 1: that has passed away. Warwick Davis, I believe is still alive,
- 42:36Speaker 1: and I do think I mode an apology for having
- 42:39Speaker 1: watched that Willows series that came out last year.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I didn't know there was a Willow series that came out.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Well there was, Raj, and yes I watched it, Yes,
- 42:49Speaker 1: of course. Anyway, my apologies to not only the Baker family,
- 42:54Speaker 1: but to Warwick Davis himself.
- 42:56Speaker 4: So it's like, all little people look alike and you
- 42:58Speaker 4: can't tell him apart.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Damn, damn, how dare are you?
- 43:02Speaker 2: That's that's so racist?
- 43:04Speaker 1: Or they don't all look alike, they look very different.
- 43:08Speaker 1: In fact, I just I just got two of them confused,
- 43:12Speaker 1: that's all.
- 43:12Speaker 2: No, they kind of all look alike.
- 43:18Speaker 1: And you can say that because your your mother in
- 43:20Speaker 1: law was a little person.
- 43:23Speaker 2: That yep, and and my sister in law and and
- 43:27Speaker 2: uh the fonder in law that passed away. They were
- 43:29Speaker 2: all little people. Couldn't tell them apart.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Interesting, So that means you, as a person of color, Raj,
- 43:34Speaker 1: cannot only get away with using the N word. Your
- 43:38Speaker 1: association with little people means you can also use them word.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I'm just saying all white little people look the same.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Fair enough. One last thing, uh, before we disband the
- 43:54Speaker 1: Treehouse for the day, we love a good stupid criminal
- 44:00Speaker 1: inside the treehouse. And this is a truly special one
- 44:05Speaker 1: because someone hid their drugs in a bag that said
- 44:08Speaker 1: definitely not a bag full of drugs.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Okay, I gotta hear this. This is gonna be good.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Yeah, on this is a I think it was in Portland, Oregon.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Police stopped a man and a woman in their thirties
- 44:26Speaker 1: driving a stolen car, and they searched the vehicle. They
- 44:29Speaker 1: found cash, a loaded gun, scales, and drugs, including more
- 44:34Speaker 1: than ten grams of fentanyl and meth. The drugs were
- 44:38Speaker 1: really easy to spot because they were inside of a
- 44:41Speaker 1: bag that said definitely not a bag full of drugs.
- 44:46Speaker 1: The man now faces charges of delivery of meth, unlawful
- 44:49Speaker 1: possession of meth, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession
- 44:52Speaker 1: of a stolen vehicle. Prosecutors have not brought charges against
- 44:55Speaker 1: the woman just yet, but those are probably coming now. Look,
- 45:01Speaker 1: I'm a big fan. I'm a huge proponent of one
- 45:04Speaker 1: of the best places to hide is in plain sight,
- 45:08Speaker 1: right out in the open. But let's not plant a flag.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Yeah, where does one purchase a bag that says definitely
- 45:16Speaker 2: not a bag full of drugs? Is that like a
- 45:17Speaker 2: hot topic?
- 45:21Speaker 1: I get the feeling like that may be like a
- 45:23Speaker 1: like a homemade version from their Etsy store. Now let
- 45:29Speaker 1: me you know what, actually, let me show this to you.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Based on the font and the bag itself, I kind
- 45:39Speaker 1: of think this might actually be from Pinterest or an
- 45:41Speaker 1: Etsy store because it's got the little sparkles on it.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Definitely not a bag full of drugs. It's a zipper pouch. Wow,
- 45:54Speaker 1: next to a snubnosed revolver, a bunch of drugs and
- 45:58Speaker 1: the stack of cash.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah that's a Yeah, that's a that's that's the dumbest thing.
- 46:07Speaker 2: That's Yeah. Good for them, I'm I'm yeah, you go
- 46:11Speaker 2: through that bag. That's the bag you go through, and
- 46:13Speaker 2: that's where all the drugs were found.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, they're right, good for them, Like I said,
- 46:18Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm a huge believer in the best
- 46:20Speaker 1: place to hide is right out in the open. But
- 46:22Speaker 1: let's not shine a spot like plant a flag, turn
- 46:25Speaker 1: on a neon sign and call it exactly what it is.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Also another good spot to hide inside a police station.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Give that a shot.
- 46:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna hydro drugs inside of a police station. Yeah, Okay,
- 46:39Speaker 2: this is is this is this a plot from some
- 46:42Speaker 2: really crap movie that you've seen before.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just saying if you're trying to hide
- 46:45Speaker 1: out from the police. Yeah, there are two great things
- 46:49Speaker 1: to do to hide. One is right out in the open,
- 46:51Speaker 1: because I mean you can hide out in the open
- 46:53Speaker 1: without being obvious. You can, you can do that.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Uh.
- 46:56Speaker 1: And the other is if you're trying to avoid the police,
- 46:58Speaker 1: hide out at the police station. Don't to look there.
- 47:02Speaker 2: The police won't think to look at a police station. Yeah, okay,
- 47:06Speaker 2: is this the synopsis for Leprechaun six?
- 47:10Speaker 1: All right? Back to the prison.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Did he have a jacket on? Saying definitely not a dealer?
- 47:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that was been dazzled. So it sparkled an awful
- 47:25Speaker 1: lot when he walked in front of the.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Spotlight and the girl had a jacket said, definitely not
- 47:32Speaker 2: a hostage.
- 47:35Speaker 1: We're talking about a real mastermind here.
- 47:38Speaker 4: I wanted to be a low profile and having a batmobile.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Definitely not Batman. All right, thanks hanging out with us
