- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome to move to six on Bucky Brooks and today
- 0:08Speaker 2: it's a solo mission, me and my guy Baldi's breakdowns.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Brian Baldy to join.
- 0:13Speaker 2: You mean to break down all the action from the weekend,
- 0:16Speaker 2: and Baldy, we got to start where I was at
- 0:18Speaker 2: Denver bronc ros Jacksonville Jaguars. You've been on record going
- 0:23Speaker 2: to Jacksonville being very impressed with the coaching staff and
- 0:25Speaker 2: those things.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Just overview on what you saw when you popped in
- 0:28Speaker 3: the tape.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Well, it was a rocky start, Bucky, A rocky start.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I mean, this was a I mean, obviously they've got
- 0:37Speaker 1: a great defense, a great defense in front. They were
- 0:39Speaker 1: all over all over Trentford to start from the very
- 0:42Speaker 1: first play the game. I mean they hit him, and
- 0:44Speaker 1: they sacked him. They hit him early. That first quarter
- 0:46Speaker 1: is a little rough. But then I really thought like,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and you know, they lost they lost Makay, they lost
- 0:56Speaker 1: the right guard. You know early that gave Walker little
- 0:58Speaker 1: went in there. I thought, I thought a third and
- 1:02Speaker 1: ten scramble in that throw to Parker really really kind
- 1:06Speaker 1: of open things up for it. They they they eventually
- 1:10Speaker 1: got some kind of a rhythm to the offense, and
- 1:13Speaker 1: I thought that that was a big part of you know,
- 1:15Speaker 1: kind of success, but uh.
- 1:18Speaker 4: It was it was not.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It was not.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It was a tough start. Let me just say that
- 1:21Speaker 2: just watching it, Bucky, Yeah, look tough start, Like Baldy
- 1:24Speaker 2: coming in. My biggest question going in was not only
- 1:28Speaker 2: the pass rush that the Denver Broncos. Obviously they on
- 1:31Speaker 2: pays for seventy sacks and they had a bunch of
- 1:33Speaker 2: sacks on Sunday, but with the Jaguars be able to
- 1:36Speaker 2: win on the outside, because the thing that makes the
- 1:38Speaker 2: Broncos so difficult is not only the pass rush, because
- 1:41Speaker 2: Vance is gonna bring pressure from everywhere, but they're so
- 1:44Speaker 2: sticky on the outside. They gonna match pass or ten
- 1:47Speaker 2: on your number one, and they're gonna deal you to
- 1:48Speaker 2: win with the twos and threes. And everyone likes to
- 1:51Speaker 2: pick on Ridley Moss, but he's been really, really good
- 1:53Speaker 2: in terms of he may give up penalties, but he
- 1:55Speaker 2: does a good job in coverage and Baldy the first quarter,
- 1:58Speaker 2: the first half, Brian Thomas Junior with null and void
- 2:02Speaker 2: with passive ten, but Riley Moss and all the other
- 2:06Speaker 2: guys McLean and uh they'd hit Millan, Milan. They had
- 2:11Speaker 2: so many guys locking up. It was tough leading for
- 2:14Speaker 2: the Jaguars. Talk about their one the challenge of dealing
- 2:19Speaker 2: with the Broncos secondary, and then what you saw from
- 2:21Speaker 2: Len Coyn and those guys.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Making adjustments, well, you know, I mean they they you know,
- 2:27Speaker 5: they got the ball to Breton Strange, they got the
- 2:30Speaker 5: ball to Parker, They got the ball, you know, to
- 2:33Speaker 5: Etn for the fourth touchdown pass in the last two weeks, Bucky.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So they found plays, they found you know, basic flat routes.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You know, they hit Parker on two third and three
- 2:43Speaker 1: third and fives. He turned one into a sixty yard game,
- 2:46Speaker 1: just flit Riley Moss and the safety on the outside,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and he was able to win.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I thought that, you know.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers is a huge addition to this team, just being.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Able to execute just simple things.
- 3:00Speaker 1: He's like tossed crack where he's blocking two guys, blocking down,
- 3:03Speaker 1: blocking the outside defensive end and then going up to
- 3:06Speaker 1: Havana and getting that done.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Just I thought the.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Receivers between park and Jacobi a lot of tough catches
- 3:14Speaker 1: and Brenton Strange a lot of tough catches, but I thought,
- 3:17Speaker 1: as hard as like, you remember that the hit by PJ.
- 3:21Speaker 4: Locke on you know, it was.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Kind of a free shot and you just see, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 1: Trevor just getting bent backwards on a blind side, hitting
- 3:29Speaker 1: where he'd already relaxed and thought, okay, here it comes
- 3:31Speaker 1: to flag and he just you just see the toughness
- 3:34Speaker 1: of Trevor and the Trefler, the toughness of Trevor. I thought,
- 3:37Speaker 1: bucky really from that hit through the first quarter, in
- 3:41Speaker 1: that noise, in that atmosphere, to see him just sort
- 3:44Speaker 1: of survive in that first quarter, to be able to
- 3:47Speaker 1: get into a rhythm, I thought that was really really
- 3:49Speaker 1: key because they didn't they couldn't really run the ball
- 3:51Speaker 1: very well.
- 3:52Speaker 4: It's a really good front.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So it was really up to Trevor to just be
- 3:55Speaker 1: able to go through his progressions and get the ball
- 3:58Speaker 1: out of his hands quickly and accurately, you know for
- 4:01Speaker 1: some you know, I think he threw fromos three hundred yards,
- 4:04Speaker 1: but he really had to earn it in those throws.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I thought, you know, buddy, so much is now going
- 4:09Speaker 2: to be made of Trevor Lawrence and you've dug in
- 4:12Speaker 2: because the last couple of weeks we've had conversations about
- 4:14Speaker 2: the Jacks. But I'll tell you this, since the Arizona
- 4:17Speaker 2: Cardinal game when he threw four interceptions, From that moment on,
- 4:21Speaker 2: even in that game, he's been a different guy. Liam
- 4:24Speaker 2: Cohn and let and Trevor had a one on one conversation.
- 4:26Speaker 2: We encouraged him to just let it rip, to let
- 4:28Speaker 2: it to let it go, to play freely, don't worry
- 4:31Speaker 2: about the mistakes, like be aggressive, not reckless, but just go.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And from that point on, he has been everything that
- 4:39Speaker 2: anyone could envision the number one overall pick being. You
- 4:43Speaker 2: had a chance to see him in training camp when
- 4:45Speaker 2: he was kind of still trying to figure it out.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Aunte, What what do you see when you look at
- 4:49Speaker 3: number sixteen?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Well, I mean, to your point, Bucky, from that Arizona game,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I mean, he's thrown twelve touchdowns own receptions last four weeks.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Now they've won six in a row, so they're a
- 4:58Speaker 4: hot team.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And to go in and down and being a team
- 5:00Speaker 1: that's one eleven in a row, I mean, he's the captain.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Of the ship.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But I thought, I feel like Liam does a great
- 5:08Speaker 1: job of empowering.
- 5:10Speaker 4: And I think most coordinators try to do this. Okay,
- 5:12Speaker 4: this is your offense, this is what you see you do,
- 5:15Speaker 4: But I think he puts them in really good positions
- 5:18Speaker 4: to be successful. I mean even the touchdown to Parker
- 5:23Speaker 4: to get him on the board. I mean, Jakwan mcmillon's
- 5:26Speaker 4: all over, but he gives them a chance to make
- 5:28Speaker 4: to catch. You know, he's playing, Jaquan's playing blind.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He's an excellent It's a slot fade, right, I mean
- 5:35Speaker 1: three receivers set slot.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Fade out there.
- 5:37Speaker 1: But I just felt like Trevor's giving the receivers a
- 5:40Speaker 1: chance to go make a play. And I think to
- 5:43Speaker 1: your point, you can being out there in training camp
- 5:46Speaker 1: and watching it work, and you've been around Liam a lot,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but if people haven't been around him the command that
- 5:55Speaker 1: he has, he's about as close to McVeigh as we've seen,
- 6:00Speaker 1: just his command of the offense, how he commands the team,
- 6:03Speaker 1: because it's way more than just the offense, how he
- 6:05Speaker 1: commands the team, even the little subtle thing bucket everybody's
- 6:09Speaker 1: playing up right now.
- 6:10Speaker 4: You're just a small market team, you know.
- 6:13Speaker 1: What I mean, Just like I mean, it's subtle you
- 6:16Speaker 1: still gotta go play, you still got to go execute.
- 6:18Speaker 1: But just his ability to take a little SoundBite like
- 6:21Speaker 1: that and to make it pretty big, especially after the victory.
- 6:26Speaker 3: You see that he.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Hears everything, he sees everything, and then he knows how
- 6:31Speaker 1: to kind of just like it, get it on the
- 6:34Speaker 1: rails for his whole team to play.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah, he definitely does that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: He has them playing at a different level, playing edgy
- 6:43Speaker 2: and those things. But I'm gonna say this about the Broncos,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think this may be the best thing to ever happen.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I think the weight of having an.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Extingished winning streak going into the playoffs can be difficult.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I think sometimes, whether it's a loss or whatever, you
- 6:55Speaker 2: kind of need that moment to reset, and a lot
- 6:58Speaker 2: of times you have to play attention best when they lose.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna say this, bo Nicks is even better than
- 7:05Speaker 2: I ever could imagine, like watching him first at Auburn
- 7:08Speaker 2: then at Oregon, and it speaks to the maturity that
- 7:12Speaker 2: he has. It also speaks to what a coach can
- 7:15Speaker 2: do to slowly build a player up. Because I know
- 7:18Speaker 2: they lost and he had two turnovers and those things.
- 7:21Speaker 3: But Baldy, my eyes told me that this is a.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Really good Broncos team and he is going to be
- 7:28Speaker 2: a really really good quarterback in this league for a
- 7:30Speaker 2: long time.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Well to your initial point, Bucky about this is not
- 7:34Speaker 1: a bad loss. Nobody wants to lose, but this at
- 7:36Speaker 1: the time of the year, right here at home, and
- 7:39Speaker 1: they got a short week coming up. Alex Singleton said it,
- 7:43Speaker 1: we've won eleven in a row. We've got twelve wins.
- 7:46Speaker 1: This is in the end of the world. Like, that's
- 7:48Speaker 1: a veteran player that's led that team in tackles a
- 7:50Speaker 1: number of years. Yet he's speaking up with a smile
- 7:53Speaker 1: on his face, going, look, we played it.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You know.
- 7:56Speaker 1: We hit that quarterback Trevor Lawrence. We sacked him seven times,
- 8:00Speaker 1: we hit him fourteen times. We did some good things.
- 8:03Speaker 1: This is far from over for us, and so I
- 8:05Speaker 1: think the reset button on a short week is is
- 8:08Speaker 1: probably not a bad thing. We've seen good teams lose
- 8:11Speaker 1: late in the season and it's probably the best thing
- 8:13Speaker 1: that could happen to him.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah, best thing. Last thing before we get off this game.
- 8:17Speaker 4: RJ.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Harvey is a huge problem for defenses. Man.
- 8:20Speaker 2: This dude is really good running between the tackles with
- 8:23Speaker 2: Baldy out in space. You can see the eventual evolution
- 8:27Speaker 2: of this offense where they have Courtland a sudden.
- 8:30Speaker 3: They have Marvin Men's But r J.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Harvey is exactly what Sean Payton has always had, and
- 8:35Speaker 2: that is that X factor out of the backfield that
- 8:37Speaker 2: can create problems. He is not quite Alvin Kamara, but
- 8:41Speaker 2: you can see him playing that Alvin Kamara Darren Sproll's
- 8:44Speaker 2: role that Sean Payton has always had someone play out
- 8:48Speaker 2: of the backfield.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Well, I mean, look, it took an unfortunate injury to JK. Dobbins,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, to get him into that role. You know,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I think that Jaliel is still going to get his
- 8:58Speaker 1: carries because he's still slippering and he's still.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Got excellent vision.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I've seen cracks, but he's always had He's always had
- 9:06Speaker 1: a committee at running back.
- 9:07Speaker 4: He's always been able to rotate in on certain situations.
- 9:10Speaker 4: But RJ.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It means a great rookie class of running backs across
- 9:14Speaker 1: the league, and RJ is one of those guys that
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know going forward, he's going to be a big
- 9:21Speaker 1: part of their postseason plans.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of postseason, I guess we should make postseason
- 9:26Speaker 2: plans for the Pittsburgh steel is because somehow, some way,
- 9:29Speaker 2: no matter what I am telling you, man, Mike Tomlin,
- 9:32Speaker 2: is that that figure in horror movies that you just
- 9:36Speaker 2: can't kill. Somehow, the Steelers are sitting here with nine wins.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They get a big win on the road. I'm be
- 9:42Speaker 2: honest with you, body, I didn't think they could go
- 9:44Speaker 2: in Detroit and knock them off. You were there to
- 9:45Speaker 2: tell me how they got it done.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Well, it's a ten to three game and the Steelers
- 9:50Speaker 1: weren't able to do anything on offense. And then with
- 9:52Speaker 1: twenty seconds ago and a half, Aaron Rodgers was looking
- 9:55Speaker 1: really just to get him into field goal range to
- 9:58Speaker 1: maybe kick a field goal, because their field goal kicker
- 10:01Speaker 1: was making him from sixty yards. Boswell's making him from
- 10:04Speaker 1: sixty plus a pre game, so I think they were
- 10:06Speaker 1: looking to get in the field goal range and he
- 10:08Speaker 1: didn't like his check down. He just cut it loose.
- 10:11Speaker 1: They had one on one on the outside between the
- 10:15Speaker 1: running back he Kenneth Gainwell and Alex Angeloni, and the
- 10:20Speaker 1: first thing you see is interference on Angeloni and the
- 10:22Speaker 1: flag comes out, but the play's not over. And then
- 10:25Speaker 1: the next thing you see is just maybe the catch
- 10:28Speaker 1: of the year by Gainwell, where he's on the ground
- 10:32Speaker 1: and he somehow traps the ball on his forearm and
- 10:35Speaker 1: then has the just the awareness, Bucky to squeeze it
- 10:39Speaker 1: right there, and then on top of that, to know
- 10:42Speaker 1: that Angeloni has rolled off him and hasn't touched him
- 10:45Speaker 1: to get up and go score, and nobody's really sure
- 10:49Speaker 1: what's happened. Even Aaron doesn't even know at that point
- 10:52Speaker 1: what happened. And so they get a forty five yard
- 10:55Speaker 1: touchdown on a hail mary throw. And we were reminded
- 11:00Speaker 1: by a lot of people in that building that it
- 11:02Speaker 1: was a ten year anniversary of Annon Rodgers thirty yell
- 11:06Speaker 1: married to Richard Rodgers to win the game ten years
- 11:08Speaker 1: ago in Detroit, And so it wasn't that throw, but
- 11:13Speaker 1: it was like this Gamewell could easily, if it's not
- 11:16Speaker 1: for Arny, it could easily be the MVP of the
- 11:18Speaker 1: offense for the Steelers. But what was really odd, Buck
- 11:22Speaker 1: was they scored three touchdowns in the game and all
- 11:26Speaker 1: of them were from forty five yards away. Gainwell was
- 11:29Speaker 1: forty five yards and then Jalen Warren on back to
- 11:32Speaker 1: back series went off left tackle, forty five yards on
- 11:36Speaker 1: a toss crack, and forty five yards off a weak
- 11:38Speaker 1: side slant forty five yards for a touchdown.
- 11:41Speaker 4: So all three touchdowns were from forty five yards away.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And so if you're looking for, you know, that voodoo
- 11:48Speaker 1: thing like like you can't defeat that, you know, whatever
- 11:52Speaker 1: that is, it's they had that going on now. A
- 11:56Speaker 1: couple of things. One they have started Dylan Cook, this
- 12:00Speaker 1: kid out of Montana Bucket.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Two weeks in a row.
- 12:03Speaker 1: He gave up a sack on kind of a late
- 12:06Speaker 1: sack to Hutch and other than that, he picks another
- 12:11Speaker 1: shutout out there.
- 12:12Speaker 4: They've been trying to firm up the left tackle spot.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Since I don't know, you know, Max, Max Starks forever, forever,
- 12:19Speaker 1: they've been drafting guys, you know, broughd.
- 12:21Speaker 4: A Jones whatever. He looks like he's the guy. He's
- 12:25Speaker 4: always on his feed, Bucky. He's never on the ground.
- 12:28Speaker 4: He's good in the run game.
- 12:29Speaker 1: He always does is dance in front of his guy
- 12:32Speaker 1: to protect the blind side of Aaron Rodgers. And for
- 12:34Speaker 1: three weeks in a row, Aaron Rodgers's not turn the
- 12:36Speaker 1: ball over. They dink and dunk. They take what you
- 12:39Speaker 1: give you, they get some they find some explosive plays.
- 12:43Speaker 1: It doesn't look pretty. You think to yourself, can they
- 12:45Speaker 1: win a game of the postseason if they get the postseason?
- 12:49Speaker 1: And you think, okay, they play without TJ. They play
- 12:52Speaker 1: without Nick Kirbig, that's the number one offense in football,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and you hold them, you know.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Like they did, you know.
- 13:00Speaker 1: To really two fourth quarter touchdowns by Jared Gott but
- 13:04Speaker 1: other than that, you know, they really squeezed him pretty good.
- 13:08Speaker 1: They've got a great special teams. I don't know, like
- 13:11Speaker 1: the team looks dangerous to me.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, It's funny you talk about that defense because the
- 13:15Speaker 2: last time many people were tuned in, they looked terrible
- 13:17Speaker 2: on defense, given up big plays all over the place.
- 13:19Speaker 3: They had done it.
- 13:20Speaker 2: What have they done the last couple of weeks to
- 13:22Speaker 2: kind of fix the issue, because they's certainly not leaking
- 13:25Speaker 2: like they were leaking well as recent as a month ago.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Well, you know, the.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Leakage came in that lost to Buffalo where they ran
- 13:32Speaker 1: for two hundred and fifty yards at home.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And since then, you.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Know, they went on the road in Buffalo to Baltimore,
- 13:38Speaker 1: they won them. They beat Miami on Monday night and
- 13:40Speaker 1: then this game. So they won three in a row
- 13:42Speaker 1: since that schlacking by Buffalo where they just had the
- 13:45Speaker 1: ball run down their throats. Yesterday they squeezed Jamier Gibbs
- 13:48Speaker 1: and David Montgomery and they didn't get anything.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Buck.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Now Detroit had a center making his first start. The
- 13:55Speaker 1: first two centers were out. He struggled mightily. They put
- 13:58Speaker 1: a nose tackle on them all games, and he couldn't
- 14:01Speaker 1: handle Cano Betton or Cam Hayward. They had a backup
- 14:04Speaker 1: left guard in there for most of the day, like
- 14:06Speaker 1: they were shorthanded up front, and Jared Goff kind of
- 14:10Speaker 1: struggled in the run game, struggled, I thought, up until
- 14:13Speaker 1: those last two drives where they just dropped back and
- 14:15Speaker 1: through it and they got you know, pretty fortunate. Of course,
- 14:18Speaker 1: it came down to you know, this final play, Buck, Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean it's like a lot of these games that
- 14:23Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about all week came down to the
- 14:25Speaker 1: final play and you could call a Monra Saint Brown's
- 14:29Speaker 1: you know, passing interference against Jala Ramsey, and it was and.
- 14:32Speaker 4: They threw two flags came out.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But the way the play finished and the way that
- 14:37Speaker 1: you know, GoF took to you can't script this stuff
- 14:40Speaker 1: that's happening at the end of these games right now.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Yeah, the lateral Amamra Saint Brown finds Jared Goff, flips
- 14:46Speaker 2: it to him, Jared Goff goes into the end zone.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It looked like there was pure chaos in the building
- 14:51Speaker 2: because the referee signaled touchdown and said touchdown. Oh, by
- 14:55Speaker 2: the way, there's offensive pass interference and they kind of
- 14:58Speaker 2: dropped the mic and so no one knows what's going on.
- 15:01Speaker 2: One of the crazier innings I've ever seen.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Now there's no doubt and yeah, I mean it just came.
- 15:08Speaker 1: It came down to the final twenty seconds of the game,
- 15:10Speaker 1: and we didn't like you know, Detroit things they scored,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and the Carl Cheffers who was the referee, bucky and
- 15:18Speaker 1: it took it took three minutes, four minutes before they
- 15:22Speaker 1: could get the ruling right because he initially came out
- 15:25Speaker 1: and said touchdown by the lines, which it was, except
- 15:29Speaker 1: it was nullified by the pass interference by So it
- 15:33Speaker 1: was very confusing to hear, you know, the final you know,
- 15:37Speaker 1: wording of that. They got it right, but it didn't
- 15:40Speaker 1: exactly come out right. A couple of things a couple
- 15:43Speaker 1: of things also about this Steelers offense.
- 15:45Speaker 4: You know, they picked up Adam Feeling from.
- 15:48Speaker 1: From you know, I mean, he's bounced from Carolina to Minnesota.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Now he's in he's in Pittsburgh. And I saw before
- 15:54Speaker 1: the game a little bit. He had four catches in
- 15:56Speaker 1: the game, but a lot of them were on third downs,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and you kind of get the feeling Aaron just needs
- 16:02Speaker 1: a trusted veteran, you know, on third downs to go
- 16:05Speaker 1: win a round, and he'll get you the ball. He'll
- 16:08Speaker 1: he'll you know, he'll flick it, he'll he'll have an
- 16:10Speaker 1: accurate throw. But a guy that he can really really
- 16:14Speaker 1: put his trust into. And so we don't know what's
- 16:17Speaker 1: gonna happen to DK Metcalf. That's another story, Buckey. I
- 16:20Speaker 1: guess we get into whatever DK did to a fan,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know, on the side out there. I haven't heard
- 16:26Speaker 1: anything yet today. I haven't really been paying attention. But
- 16:28Speaker 1: they might play without DK four game or two.
- 16:32Speaker 4: We'll see what happens.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But Feeling's going a guy that I think they can
- 16:35Speaker 1: count on to step up right now. In addition to
- 16:38Speaker 1: both backs, Warren and Gainwell are guys that they really trust.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You know, it's funny because in looking at the box
- 16:45Speaker 2: score and seeing the way the ball was distributed, you
- 16:48Speaker 2: can see Aaron going to his full Denk and dunk mode,
- 16:52Speaker 2: working inside out running backs, slot receivers, tied ends, and
- 16:56Speaker 2: then finding a couple of plays on the outside.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Look.
- 16:58Speaker 2: That can be very challenging for teams in the postseason,
- 17:02Speaker 2: just because when the pressure gets tight, he is so
- 17:05Speaker 2: good in those moments and trying to find the right one.
- 17:08Speaker 2: It'd be interesting to see how it plays out. They're
- 17:11Speaker 2: going from Aaron to his former team. Man, I'm at
- 17:15Speaker 2: dinner trying to watch the Chicago Green Bay game. It
- 17:18Speaker 2: seems like it's in the bag for the Gobay Packers,
- 17:21Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden have a the dessert
- 17:24Speaker 2: body and it's over.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Well it's one point buckets, sixteen to six, okay, and
- 17:30Speaker 1: Chicago goes down and they kick the.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Field goal to make it sixteen to nine.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And then when two minutes ago they go on sidekick
- 17:36Speaker 1: and you know, Romeo Dops is on the hands team
- 17:38Speaker 1: like all receivers and tight ends.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Yeah, and he takes his eyes off the ball.
- 17:43Speaker 1: You know, they're split five to five, so five guys
- 17:45Speaker 1: on one side five or the other and the ball
- 17:48Speaker 1: gets kicked by Cairo Santos. He gets a little bit
- 17:51Speaker 1: of a bounce and Romeo takes his eyes off it
- 17:53Speaker 1: for one pre second. It bounces off his chests and
- 17:57Speaker 1: there's boswell, uh, I'm trying to think of anyways, it
- 18:03Speaker 1: gets recovered by Chicago and then next thing, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I didn't know Jade Walker, I didn't know who he
- 18:09Speaker 1: was bucking. He catches like you know, you got a
- 18:12Speaker 1: two by two set down there, you know, inside the twenty,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and green Bay blows the coverage.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Bucky Flynt blow the coverage.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And they leave you know, Walker all alone in the
- 18:22Speaker 1: end zone for the touchdown to tie it up. And
- 18:26Speaker 1: so there you go. And then and then you know,
- 18:28Speaker 1: you got to remember the new overtime rules. You know,
- 18:31Speaker 1: here comes you know, green Bay right down the field,
- 18:34Speaker 1: and you know they score in overtime.
- 18:36Speaker 4: It's I mean, it was.
- 18:38Speaker 1: It was absolutely unbelievable the way that they know, the
- 18:41Speaker 1: way it played out to get in overtime like that.
- 18:44Speaker 3: You know, and the poor green Bay Packers.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And I know every team is dealing with injuries, but man,
- 18:49Speaker 2: you talk about being snake bit by the injury bug
- 18:51Speaker 2: and key moments. Jordan Love goes out when he's playing
- 18:54Speaker 2: fairly well, Malik Willis has to come in and kind
- 18:56Speaker 2: of finished.
- 18:57Speaker 3: The deal out.
- 18:58Speaker 2: They've lost their pass us, they lost to Craft, They've
- 19:01Speaker 2: lost so many guys along the way that look they're
- 19:05Speaker 2: punchless team. But even in saying that, I got to
- 19:08Speaker 2: give the Bears a lot of credit because this is
- 19:10Speaker 2: a new iteration of the Bears and the Ben Johnson.
- 19:13Speaker 2: They're a tough team. They play to the end. He
- 19:15Speaker 2: has found a way to generate offense in different ways
- 19:19Speaker 2: to make sure that they are able to put points
- 19:22Speaker 2: on the board. I can't stop raving about Ben Johnson
- 19:25Speaker 2: in the job that he did, because I'm be honest,
- 19:27Speaker 2: I was a little skeptical. The setup was so great
- 19:29Speaker 2: for him in Detroit, I wonder if he could replicate
- 19:31Speaker 2: it elsewhere. But he certainly has taken that blueprint and
- 19:34Speaker 2: put together into Winni City.
- 19:36Speaker 1: He is He's an amazing coach and some of the
- 19:40Speaker 1: things he does Bucky like everybody runs feto rows, but
- 19:44Speaker 1: he will do things like just change the speed of
- 19:47Speaker 1: one of the receivers or make it look like the
- 19:49Speaker 1: receivers going to block the free safety to kind of
- 19:52Speaker 1: like just get some kind of.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Interference and there's Dj Moore in the middle of the field.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Like just the subtle little things he does to break
- 19:59Speaker 1: the pattern that everybody defends in this league is a
- 20:02Speaker 1: specialty of his. The way that for example, he probably
- 20:07Speaker 1: more than anybody else on third and three, plus he
- 20:10Speaker 1: runs the ball. He ran it with Kyle Managa on
- 20:13Speaker 1: third and three they picked up twelve. But most teams
- 20:16Speaker 1: third and three part during passing situation, they just don't trust,
- 20:19Speaker 1: especially against Packers, Wh's got a good defensive front, good
- 20:22Speaker 1: against the run, but Manangai goes and picks it up.
- 20:26Speaker 1: The use of like the entire league right now is
- 20:29Speaker 1: in thirteen personnel. They get into a thirteen personnel with
- 20:32Speaker 1: Derham smythe along with you know, Loveland and.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Eighty five.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Like they just they were able to do that as
- 20:41Speaker 1: well as anybody right now and just and then you know,
- 20:45Speaker 1: the touchdown throw to win the game by Calen probably
- 20:49Speaker 1: the best throw he has made to the biggest throw
- 20:52Speaker 1: that he has made to win that game on that night,
- 20:55Speaker 1: on a Saturday night there to win the game to
- 20:57Speaker 1: Dj Moore with Keishaw Nixon.
- 20:59Speaker 4: All over all, they can't cover, can't cover any better.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Buck and the throw and the catch by DJ, I
- 21:06Speaker 1: don't know DJ even knew, just help like he's just
- 21:10Speaker 1: doing a snow angel on the end zone, laying on his.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Back, goone.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't know how he actually controlled the ball into
- 21:18Speaker 1: the end zone right there to win that game.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it was an amazing throw.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And it's the thing that really should excite Bears fans
- 21:25Speaker 2: from Kaylen Williams because we all can see the improvement,
- 21:29Speaker 2: even though it's not consistently reflected in the stat line.
- 21:32Speaker 3: He is a different player than he was his rookie season.
- 21:35Speaker 2: He is playing with more discipline and attention to detail
- 21:38Speaker 2: and those things. And as he grows or gains more
- 21:41Speaker 2: confidence in the system and what will.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Open up for him, You'll see those numbers on the ubject.
- 21:47Speaker 2: But I'm gonna tell you it's the running game that
- 21:50Speaker 2: is going to be the problem that people have to
- 21:52Speaker 2: deal with when they deal with the Bears in the postseason,
- 21:55Speaker 2: no question.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And all those moves that they made from Drew Dollomon,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you know, to Toney to Jonah like those three guys,
- 22:02Speaker 1: and then to see Darnell Wright come on to go
- 22:05Speaker 1: to Ozzy and Trapillo, you know, a left tackle. After
- 22:09Speaker 1: going through Braxton Jones and going through benedictt and now
- 22:13Speaker 1: deciding on Trapillo. They've had three guys out there from
- 22:16Speaker 1: the beginning of the season, and it looks like they've
- 22:18Speaker 1: they've got their guy at left tackle. But their commitment
- 22:21Speaker 1: to the run game buck and the way that they
- 22:23Speaker 1: do it, I mean, you don't know who's going to
- 22:25Speaker 1: be in the backfield sometimes, but it is a true
- 22:28Speaker 1: one to two punch with DeAndre Swift and Kyle Manungai
- 22:32Speaker 1: and menung guy might be as difficult to tackle as
- 22:36Speaker 1: anybody in this league. Like his balance, his contact strength
- 22:41Speaker 1: is second to none in this league. And they and
- 22:44Speaker 1: then you know, and then if you have to add
- 22:46Speaker 1: on what kleeb can do, whether through scrambles or design runs,
- 22:51Speaker 1: like he's about as hard as any quarterback in this
- 22:53Speaker 1: league to get to the ground.
- 22:55Speaker 4: So it is a form of commitment. But you know,
- 22:57Speaker 4: they lead the league in takeaways by a wide margin.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Right now, they're over thirty came aways so far through
- 23:02Speaker 1: fifteen games.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I don't know if that's gonna stop.
- 23:05Speaker 1: You know, it could be you know, just recovering a fumble,
- 23:09Speaker 1: you know, between Milie Willis in the center, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: in a key spot in the game.
- 23:12Speaker 4: But they got on it.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It's a consistent thing week in week out to taking
- 23:18Speaker 1: the ball away.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you this, man, like, it's amazing how
- 23:21Speaker 2: good Dennis Allen is as a coordinator when he's had
- 23:23Speaker 2: the struggles as a coach. But and you know this,
- 23:26Speaker 2: it's uncommon for a team that plays as much man
- 23:28Speaker 2: man as the Bears do to take the ball away
- 23:30Speaker 2: the way that they do it. Normally we play Manda Man,
- 23:32Speaker 2: you get breakups because eyes are not on the quarterback,
- 23:35Speaker 2: so you see it late.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You reactions are late.
- 23:37Speaker 2: But man, they are some turnover obsessed ball hawks that
- 23:41Speaker 2: find everybody. I mean, they just just get it. Because
- 23:44Speaker 2: I did a breakdown. I was looking at No Sean
- 23:46Speaker 2: right and what he's been able to do. And I
- 23:48Speaker 2: think about Al Harris and Al Harris working with him
- 23:52Speaker 2: first in Dallas but then in Chicago where this dude
- 23:54Speaker 2: is a legitimate. He's gonna be a big pay corner
- 23:57Speaker 2: when he is free agency in the spring.
- 24:00Speaker 3: People gonna pay for that size and those balls.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Well, it's interesting, Buck, because Jalen Johnson is back, but
- 24:05Speaker 1: he's flitting time with Tyreek Stevenson and Nashan is staying
- 24:10Speaker 1: at the right quarner like he he wirely piped everybody
- 24:13Speaker 1: that was Jalen Johnson and Jalen Johnson in Pro Bowl
- 24:15Speaker 1: corner in this league. But he's played so well, they're
- 24:18Speaker 1: just leaving.
- 24:18Speaker 3: A be over there. Let's move to the sundate.
- 24:25Speaker 2: That game the New England Patriots Baltimore ravens some people
- 24:29Speaker 2: in Baltimore saying it's the end of an era just
- 24:32Speaker 2: given what they're gonna have to do with free agents
- 24:34Speaker 2: and those things.
- 24:35Speaker 3: But my Rabel and the Patriots find a way to
- 24:37Speaker 3: get it done on the road. Yeah, they did.
- 24:40Speaker 4: And it's interesting.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I just started the offense first because they've got they
- 24:45Speaker 1: got two tight ends that have traveled this league, Austin
- 24:47Speaker 1: Hooper Hunter Henry.
- 24:49Speaker 4: But they got a real home there, you know, because
- 24:52Speaker 4: they you know, they run.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Some of the things that they asked Drake made to
- 24:56Speaker 1: do are so basic, Buck, I mean, curl flat, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 1: you know, it gives a cover three divide with a
- 25:03Speaker 1: YY formation. Two tight ends, like some of these things
- 25:06Speaker 1: are just basic, basic completions. But they're drive starters, you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and they get chunks and then if you sprinkle in
- 25:14Speaker 1: what Diggs did yesterday to Baltimore, like Diggs had he
- 25:18Speaker 1: had a Digs type. He can still separate at the
- 25:20Speaker 1: top of his route. And it didn't matter if it
- 25:22Speaker 1: was Marlon Humphrey or whether it was Wiggins, like he's
- 25:26Speaker 1: gonna still you give that guy a chance to go win.
- 25:29Speaker 4: He's continually he's gonna win. Buck, like it's who he is.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And when they were down twenty four to thirteen, he
- 25:38Speaker 1: was getting kicked off, like we're gonna win this game,
- 25:40Speaker 1: and he kind of like helped put it in his hands.
- 25:43Speaker 3: To do it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And it was, you know, the throw at twenty four
- 25:47Speaker 1: to thirteen, Buck, the throw to Kyle Williams, the rookie.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I went back and look, Buck, he's got seven catches
- 25:53Speaker 1: on the year, but three are touchdowns and the thirty
- 25:56Speaker 1: seven yard touchdown from Drake. And first of all, the
- 25:58Speaker 1: throw is amazing, but the coverage is amazing and Kyle Williams,
- 26:03Speaker 1: like the legs went dead, the concentration, the catch to
- 26:08Speaker 1: get it to twenty four to twenty.
- 26:09Speaker 4: That was a huge part of that game.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yeah, a big part of it.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And I say this, Mike Rabel has built this team
- 26:17Speaker 2: and the image of the Patriots teams that he played on.
- 26:19Speaker 2: They are a team that you look around and you're
- 26:21Speaker 2: trying to identify the star outside the quarterback. But they
- 26:24Speaker 2: have a bunch of really good players that play their role.
- 26:27Speaker 2: They make their plays when their numbers are called upon.
- 26:29Speaker 2: You talked about Stefan Diggs, who have some star power,
- 26:32Speaker 2: but man, you talk about a nondescript offense that's able
- 26:35Speaker 2: to get it done Keishan BUTI being able to make play.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I mean, they just have so many guys that they've
- 26:39Speaker 2: thrown together. And Josh McDaniels, I mean, you put him
- 26:43Speaker 2: in a Patriots uniform, you put him in that starter jacket,
- 26:46Speaker 2: whatever jacket he wears.
- 26:48Speaker 3: The play calling is at a different level when he's
- 26:50Speaker 3: up in Foxboro.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Well you think about it, Buck, I mean, there they
- 26:54Speaker 1: are in typical Josh McDaniels offset eye with Jack Westover,
- 26:59Speaker 1: you know, the fullback, and it's you know, it's twenty
- 27:03Speaker 1: four to twenty one, and here comes Ramandre Stevenson and
- 27:06Speaker 1: a little power and they you know, they just they
- 27:08Speaker 1: just opened up, you know, the Ravens defense. And there
- 27:11Speaker 1: goes Remandre out the back door and you know, Morgan
- 27:15Speaker 1: Moses is over there and I'll when you and like,
- 27:18Speaker 1: nobody's going to the Pro Bowl on that front. But
- 27:21Speaker 1: you know, you look at what Doug Marone has done.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Obviously you know Doug really well, but you know Doug's
- 27:25Speaker 1: in his role like he's probably if he has. Doug
- 27:29Speaker 1: what he really enjoyed always doing going way back to
- 27:32Speaker 1: is coming out of Georgia Tech and coming to the league.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He liked coaching the offensive line and so you know,
- 27:39Speaker 1: you're seeing these guys improve up front as an individually
- 27:44Speaker 1: and then as a group, and how they fit in
- 27:46Speaker 1: that run to give him the league in the fourth
- 27:49Speaker 1: quarter was an example of it right there.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Yeah, they're good.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And what I loved about what they did in the
- 27:53Speaker 2: offseason they would go and get a veteran Layden defense,
- 27:57Speaker 2: so now they can jump in and do some things.
- 27:58Speaker 2: They play hard if by they understand what their roles are,
- 28:02Speaker 2: they understand all the adjustments and those things. I can't
- 28:06Speaker 2: say enough about what they've done defensive because they just
- 28:08Speaker 2: find a way to just muck it up just enough,
- 28:11Speaker 2: just enough to make it miserable for you.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Well, but to.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Think about calevant H Klevon chasea and doesn't end of
- 28:20Speaker 1: that game like that guy. He's flourishing in this defense
- 28:24Speaker 1: opposite Harold Landry. Now they've had got keyon White out there.
- 28:27Speaker 1: They have different guys like Nope, Klebon, that's our guy.
- 28:30Speaker 1: And you know, I got to know him a little
- 28:32Speaker 1: bit of the Sex Summit this year, like coming out
- 28:34Speaker 1: of LSU. I know he was kind of a holly
- 28:36Speaker 1: thought of never really found a home. Never in a
- 28:38Speaker 1: couple of different spots he is. But you know, once
- 28:42Speaker 1: you find a home and you know they're counting on you,
- 28:45Speaker 1: then the effort, the talent, like for him to double
- 28:49Speaker 1: back and to really strip Zay Flowers in that spot,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Marcus Jones come up with the fumble to really close
- 28:55Speaker 1: that game out.
- 28:56Speaker 4: That's a Mike Vrabel type play. That's effort. Get to ball.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Good things happen when you get to the ball, Like
- 29:02Speaker 4: that's a play.
- 29:03Speaker 1: You can see Brabel putting that play, you know, on
- 29:06Speaker 1: a Monday, you know, clicker and going.
- 29:09Speaker 4: This is how you win games, guys, how you win games?
- 29:11Speaker 4: Who's gonna do it next week? For us? And just
- 29:13Speaker 4: playing and play over and over again.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I mean, look, it's something to watch and now on
- 29:19Speaker 2: the other side, I gotta say, man, it's probably one
- 29:22Speaker 2: of the bigger disappointments of the league to see the
- 29:24Speaker 2: Baltimore Ravens on the cusp of being eliminated.
- 29:28Speaker 3: This is a team that many of us talked about.
- 29:30Speaker 2: They may have the most talented roster and ball quarterback
- 29:33Speaker 2: has been a two time MVP all this other stuff.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Why hasn't it worked in Baltimore, Body, I don't understand.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Well, let me just back up what you just said, Buck.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I went to the Ravens training camp twice this summer,
- 29:48Speaker 1: and both times I came away thinking, this is a
- 29:50Speaker 1: stacked roster like Lamar's coming off or could have easily
- 29:53Speaker 1: been an MVP season everything that he did, and you're thinking, Okay,
- 29:59Speaker 1: the coaching staff sables Zach Orrz in his second year,
- 30:02Speaker 1: you know, Kyle Hamilton coming back like, it looks stacked.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And then you know, defensively, they had a lot of injuries.
- 30:10Speaker 1: They kind of fell apart for a little while, but
- 30:11Speaker 1: they've regained their footing. But Lamarg isn't anywhere near what
- 30:17Speaker 1: we saw the last two years under Monkt. Like under Mounkin,
- 30:22Speaker 1: Todd has done a great job with him developing them
- 30:25Speaker 1: getting the explosive plays the run game, all the things
- 30:28Speaker 1: they did out of the run game with him and
- 30:30Speaker 1: Derrick Henry and whatever third down back they had.
- 30:33Speaker 4: And I don't know why.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Derrick Henry wasn't on the field in the fourth quarter
- 30:38Speaker 1: of that game after running for one hundred yards and
- 30:40Speaker 1: looking like Derrick Henry and there's Mike Rabols is probably salivating, going, man,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I had that guy.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I know how good he is? Yeah, and how he because.
- 30:49Speaker 1: That's when he goes to work Bucky in the fourth quarter,
- 30:51Speaker 1: after he's gotten twenty carries.
- 30:53Speaker 4: That's his time.
- 30:55Speaker 1: And for them in a close game, for them to
- 30:57Speaker 1: go away from Derrick Henry, that part of it is
- 31:00Speaker 1: like some coaching going on right there.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Well now, only that you're playing with a backup quarterback
- 31:05Speaker 2: in Stupe Hunley. The fact that you don't close it
- 31:08Speaker 2: out with Derrick Henry, to me is it's crazy. And
- 31:11Speaker 2: I'll say this, and I do believe that Monken has
- 31:13Speaker 2: done a great job of evolving their offense in a
- 31:17Speaker 2: passing game. I feel like their running game, particularly when
- 31:22Speaker 2: you have Lamar Jackson, and what you could imagine them
- 31:25Speaker 2: doing with their old run game schemes with Derrick Henry
- 31:29Speaker 2: and Lamar Jackson alternating. You just would think that it
- 31:32Speaker 2: would be explosive and dynamic in those things, But now
- 31:35Speaker 2: you're dealing with, like going forward, a thirty two year
- 31:38Speaker 2: old running back and Derrick Henry, you're dealing with, let's
- 31:42Speaker 2: be honest and off injured Lamar Jackson lower body injuries.
- 31:46Speaker 3: In those things, what's next for the Ravens? Like, what
- 31:50Speaker 3: does the next iteration of the Ravens look like?
- 31:53Speaker 2: Because you're now dealing with older quarterback and an older
- 31:55Speaker 2: running back?
- 31:56Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know how many division titles do
- 31:59Speaker 4: they need?
- 32:00Speaker 3: MVPs?
- 32:01Speaker 1: And then you know postseason disappointment, like is this I mean,
- 32:06Speaker 1: is this an opportunity for Steve Pashatti to make changes
- 32:08Speaker 1: at the very top of this thing? Because this has
- 32:12Speaker 1: they have kept this thing together. They brought him Todd Munket.
- 32:15Speaker 1: That seemed like a good missing piece when they made
- 32:17Speaker 1: changes at the coordinator spot.
- 32:20Speaker 4: But do you want to run this back again?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Because Lamar Jackson my entary metric right now, Buck, he's
- 32:26Speaker 1: not running anywhere near.
- 32:27Speaker 4: As fast as he used to run. Now, is that
- 32:29Speaker 4: just now? Maybe it is?
- 32:31Speaker 1: He just needs an off season and press it up
- 32:33Speaker 1: and get healthy, and will we see that version of
- 32:36Speaker 1: him where he just makes everybody else look, you know,
- 32:39Speaker 1: like they're standing still. But there was a point in
- 32:41Speaker 1: the last two years prior to this year where there
- 32:44Speaker 1: was no defense that could stop Lamar Jackson until he
- 32:48Speaker 1: got to the postseason. Like you can try anything you
- 32:50Speaker 1: want to, you blitz him, okay, good luck. His ability
- 32:53Speaker 1: to extend plays, keep his eyes down the field, make
- 32:56Speaker 1: explosive throws, accurate throws on the run, whatever it was,
- 33:00Speaker 1: he did it all.
- 33:01Speaker 4: And that's not the case this season.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Even the play in which he got injured Baldy, that
- 33:06Speaker 2: is a routine play where we've seen Lamar Jackson get slippery, dive,
- 33:10Speaker 2: get out of it or whatever. It's the first time
- 33:12Speaker 2: that he looked clunky to me as a player. And
- 33:15Speaker 2: we've seen this with and I'm not saying that, like
- 33:18Speaker 2: I'm a believer in a player of his runnings out
- 33:21Speaker 2: being able to be successful, but we've seen this. He's
- 33:25Speaker 2: nearing what you close to year ten. We're getting up
- 33:29Speaker 2: there where it begins to fall off a cliff. If
- 33:32Speaker 2: it's going to fall off, I just wonder how they
- 33:34Speaker 2: can one pay him watch him age gracefully in an
- 33:40Speaker 2: offense to still maximize who he is with the pieces
- 33:44Speaker 2: around him.
- 33:45Speaker 3: That look tough offseason for.
- 33:47Speaker 2: The Baltimore Ravens ahead when it comes to decisions, decisions,
- 33:51Speaker 2: Tampa Bay, Carolina, the Carolina Panthers. My brother's heart is
- 33:57Speaker 2: fluttering because his Carolina Panthers are now.
- 34:00Speaker 3: At the top of division. How are they getting the done? Man?
- 34:02Speaker 2: Because I definitely didn't see this team as a team
- 34:04Speaker 2: as we go to the postseason.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Well, a lot of First.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Of all, defensively, they're very good, Bucky.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I mean, Mike Jackson at corner last night or yesterday afternoon,
- 34:15Speaker 1: had a great day defending Mike Evans in the end
- 34:17Speaker 1: zone twice. Like he's got Mike Evans one on one
- 34:20Speaker 1: and it's almost.
- 34:21Speaker 4: A layout for Baker to Mike Evans at the one
- 34:24Speaker 4: yard line.
- 34:25Speaker 1: They had a goal line stand, you know early in
- 34:27Speaker 1: the game where they missed, you know, he defended Mike
- 34:29Speaker 1: Evans in the in the an zone, you know, and
- 34:32Speaker 1: they settled for three.
- 34:33Speaker 4: That might have been the difference in the game.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Right there, Abuka was outside of one catch was basically invisible.
- 34:39Speaker 1: This is a buccaneer team offense, at least, Bucky, where
- 34:43Speaker 1: you got everybody back. You got Evans, you got Godwin,
- 34:45Speaker 1: you got Bucky Irving, you got all your guys, Jayleen McMillan,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and you know they couldn't you know, they couldn't score
- 34:53Speaker 1: more than twenty points.
- 34:54Speaker 4: So credit what they're doing defensively.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Derek Brown had another unbelievable game, but it looks like
- 35:00Speaker 1: kind of you know. And then there was a miss
- 35:02Speaker 1: que late in the game between Baker Mike Evans and
- 35:06Speaker 1: you know the rookie ransom is the beneficiary of Evan's
- 35:10Speaker 1: going one way and Baker thinking he's going another way.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And he gets the interception to end the game right there.
- 35:16Speaker 1: And then you know Bryce like him and him and
- 35:21Speaker 1: t mac or a good combination the touchdown to t
- 35:23Speaker 1: mac and anzone like against Jamel Dean. It's a blitzeral.
- 35:27Speaker 1: You know that Todd Bowle is gonna come after you.
- 35:29Speaker 1: They do a decent job of slowing him down. They
- 35:32Speaker 1: throw it up there, he gets his touchdown. Third downs,
- 35:34Speaker 1: he's go to guy right there. This Jalen Coker keeps
- 35:37Speaker 1: coming on making key catches for him. They're not turning
- 35:41Speaker 1: the ball over like they've got their toughest opponent, Like
- 35:46Speaker 1: ast your brother, because I think this is the biggest
- 35:48Speaker 1: game with Seattle coming to down this weekend. Buck, Like,
- 35:52Speaker 1: this is the biggest game that's going to be played
- 35:54Speaker 1: in Charlotte in years, I don't know, like at least
- 35:57Speaker 1: the last five years.
- 35:58Speaker 4: The biggest game that's going to be played with a
- 36:00Speaker 4: really good.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Team coming to see him, We're going to find out,
- 36:03Speaker 1: you know, are they going to be if they win
- 36:05Speaker 1: the division? And I'm going to be there on Sunday
- 36:08Speaker 1: in Charlotte if they win the division? Are they going
- 36:10Speaker 1: to be a tough out? You know, should they get
- 36:13Speaker 1: you know, a playoff game at home there in Charlotte.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna say this. I give Drew Canalis a
- 36:18Speaker 3: lot of credit.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I feel like he's done a good job of being
- 36:22Speaker 2: forthright about his struggles as a head coach in terms
- 36:24Speaker 2: of learning and evolving on the job, training the job
- 36:27Speaker 2: that he's done with Bryce Young after making Bryce Young
- 36:30Speaker 2: earn the QB one spot, Like for the last year
- 36:33Speaker 2: or so, it's been really really good defensively, you talked
- 36:35Speaker 2: about how good they are, Yeah, they're will positioned to
- 36:38Speaker 2: do it. I think in anticipation of this matchup with
- 36:42Speaker 2: Tampa coming in, I keep looking for Tampa to hit
- 36:45Speaker 2: the switch.
- 36:47Speaker 3: I just like with Todd Bowles and his.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Defense and what they had available and Baker Mayfield coming
- 36:53Speaker 2: on the heels or whatever. I kept waiting for the
- 36:56Speaker 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hit the switch. Here they are
- 36:59Speaker 2: hovering right at five hundred and it drives me absolutely crazy.
- 37:02Speaker 1: No, no, it doesn't look anything like what we have
- 37:04Speaker 1: witnessed over the last four years with Todd Bowles and Baker,
- 37:08Speaker 1: who was coming off one of the great seasons in
- 37:10Speaker 1: the history of this game, when he threw for over
- 37:12Speaker 1: forty touchdowns and forty five hundred yards a year ago,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and it was one big comeback after another.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I mean, Baker still getting some scrambles that are keeping
- 37:20Speaker 4: some drives alive.
- 37:21Speaker 1: But I thought the Panthers had a bunch of third
- 37:24Speaker 1: down stops in the second half of that game to
- 37:27Speaker 1: force them to pump the ball away where they couldn't
- 37:30Speaker 1: really get into their playbook and get in to the weapons.
- 37:34Speaker 3: That they have.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Offensively, you saw some runs from Bucky or you saw
- 37:38Speaker 1: a big run from Rashad White.
- 37:40Speaker 4: You saw pieces. They just couldn't sustain it. Bucky and
- 37:44Speaker 4: Credit because if you look at if you look.
- 37:47Speaker 1: At Carolina's defense, whether it's Rose Boom or whether it's
- 37:51Speaker 1: Maoring or you know, you go through the list of
- 37:54Speaker 1: players on that a Sean Robinson like, it looks a
- 37:58Speaker 1: little bit.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Like a you know, expansion team.
- 38:02Speaker 1: You know, the guys from other teams, but they've done
- 38:04Speaker 1: a good job of molding those guys together.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Last game, we got to talk about the Buffalo Bills
- 38:14Speaker 2: the Cleveland Browns.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Buffalo find a way to get it done.
- 38:17Speaker 2: With Josh Allen compromised with a little foot injury, they
- 38:20Speaker 2: still find a way to knock off the Browns.
- 38:22Speaker 1: He threw it nineteen times, bucking through four hundred and
- 38:25Speaker 1: thirty yards.
- 38:25Speaker 4: So it was time for James Cook.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Like that offensive line is going to be a problem
- 38:31Speaker 1: for anybody in the postseason. I mean, I think you
- 38:33Speaker 1: can depend on James Cook right now. He's got over
- 38:36Speaker 1: fifteen hundred yards just rushing this year.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Buck.
- 38:40Speaker 1: He has been the bellcal that they wanted the offensive line.
- 38:44Speaker 1: He just knows how to, you know, continue to extend
- 38:47Speaker 1: drives right there. And that defense in Cleveland is good,
- 38:52Speaker 1: they're great, and to be able to pierce them for
- 38:54Speaker 1: one hundred and seventeen yards like he did getting the
- 38:57Speaker 1: average that he did, being able to sustain drives against
- 38:59Speaker 1: that deep defense like it was good. And then you
- 39:03Speaker 1: know the defense took the ball away from shed or
- 39:05Speaker 1: had the interception by by Poyer and by Jones, which
- 39:09Speaker 1: kind of slowed Cleveland.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Down a little bit.
- 39:12Speaker 1: It was it was a hard fought game, hard thought
- 39:14Speaker 1: they knew it was going to be going into Cleveland.
- 39:17Speaker 1: They're still playing hard for Jimmy Schwartz on that side
- 39:19Speaker 1: of the ball, and they just they were able to
- 39:21Speaker 1: eat out a win. But you look at say a
- 39:23Speaker 1: guy like you know, Gregory Rousseau yesterday, he had the
- 39:26Speaker 1: two and a half sacks, but he hits the door
- 39:28Speaker 1: seven times in that game, like they roughed him up
- 39:31Speaker 1: pretty good. And so I thought Buffalo's defense stepped up,
- 39:34Speaker 1: you know, in a game where they had to at
- 39:36Speaker 1: some point.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting for the Buffalo Bills in
- 39:39Speaker 2: the tournament because they arguably will have the best quarterback
- 39:42Speaker 2: in the tournament. But this might be the weakest version
- 39:45Speaker 2: of the Buffalo Bills they hit the postseason in the
- 39:48Speaker 2: last four or five years in terms of you know,
- 39:51Speaker 2: they have James Cook about Baldy. If we're being honest
- 39:54Speaker 2: about the number of blue chippers that they have on
- 39:55Speaker 2: the roster. They're not loaded with blue chip players, and
- 39:58Speaker 2: so for them to win, they have to bring their
- 40:00Speaker 2: a game each and every week because they can't just
- 40:03Speaker 2: out talent the teams that are going to be in there.
- 40:06Speaker 2: And if they want Josh Allen to get into the
- 40:10Speaker 2: phone booth, he can, but they can need a healthy
- 40:13Speaker 2: and spryan ready Josh Allen to be able to do
- 40:15Speaker 2: that for a three game run in the postseason to
- 40:18Speaker 2: get them to the super Bowl.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Well, we know that they're going to be vulnerable to
- 40:21Speaker 1: anybody that can run the ball really well.
- 40:24Speaker 4: And so it's been a weakness.
- 40:25Speaker 3: It's there.
- 40:26Speaker 1: It wasn't you know when Quinn Scheawn went down yesterday unfortunately.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And really the tackle play that Cleveland has right now,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I don't know what number offensive tackle they're on, but
- 40:36Speaker 1: it's it's deep.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Down the roster.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I mean, they weren't good enough, but in the postseason
- 40:40Speaker 1: they're going to see some teams, you know, that can
- 40:43Speaker 1: run the football, whether it's it's Jacksonville, whether it's Denver
- 40:47Speaker 1: right now, you know, competing over whether it's Houston, and
- 40:50Speaker 1: what they're doing right now with their rookie running back.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I mean, it's just there's some guys there that some
- 40:55Speaker 1: teams there that you know, can pound the football pretty good.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Last day, I get a shuit overall. Take I've been
- 41:01Speaker 2: popping in and looking at Shad or what are you
- 41:04Speaker 2: seeing from him? Because there's a lot of noise around
- 41:06Speaker 2: how he's playing, But when you looked at him, where
- 41:09Speaker 2: would you say he is as a normal rookie quarterback
- 41:12Speaker 2: at this stage of his development.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I think that you got to be happy the way
- 41:17Speaker 1: that he's you know, moving like him and Harold Fan
- 41:20Speaker 1: and have a good relationship. It's just all rookies. The
- 41:22Speaker 1: receiving corps isn't very good. Bucky like Jerry Judy didn't
- 41:26Speaker 1: very good right now and Levardaine and you go through
- 41:28Speaker 1: the guys that they have. I mean, the quarterback is
- 41:31Speaker 1: only going to be as good. Just think about Treadle
- 41:34Speaker 1: and the difference with Parker Washington and Jacoby Myers. In
- 41:39Speaker 1: the addition that Jacoby Myers has been and when they
- 41:41Speaker 1: got Brent Strange back healthy, like he needs pieces around him.
- 41:45Speaker 4: I think he sees the field well. I think he
- 41:47Speaker 4: throws the deep ball well. I think he extends plays.
- 41:51Speaker 3: You know he can.
- 41:52Speaker 1: You know, he ran yesterday a bunch of times for
- 41:54Speaker 1: some first downs. I'm not disappointed in stud or now.
- 41:58Speaker 1: If you don't think he's the answer, Cleveland's probably gonna
- 42:01Speaker 1: have a whole bunch of changes. They might have that
- 42:03Speaker 1: get that opportunity right now. But I think these last
- 42:06Speaker 1: two games are still really important for s order just
- 42:08Speaker 1: to keep playing. Just to think that a month ago
- 42:12Speaker 1: he hadn't even gotten a practice, right you know, in
- 42:14Speaker 1: three months, and so it's on the job training right now.
- 42:17Speaker 1: And so But I don't think he's disappointing. Every time
- 42:21Speaker 1: they try to put the microphone in front of him
- 42:23Speaker 1: to disparage the coach, he never does it. He handles
- 42:26Speaker 1: himself well, because that's a big part of any quarterback
- 42:29Speaker 1: being able to handle the outside noise, the media, all
- 42:31Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. He handles all that stuff, you know,
- 42:34Speaker 1: like he's like like he went to school for.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:37Speaker 2: No, he's certainly done a good job when it comes
- 42:39Speaker 2: to that grand pages. You look around the league, all
- 42:41Speaker 2: these young quarterbacks are up and down. JJ McCarthy can't
- 42:44Speaker 2: finish games. You had Jackson Dart who didn't have a
- 42:46Speaker 2: great performance against the Minnesota Vikings.
- 42:48Speaker 3: That's kind of part of what it is.
- 42:50Speaker 2: And to be honest, Baldy, I looked at all these
- 42:52Speaker 2: college football games and we'll get to it on another episode.
- 42:54Speaker 2: But man, I don't know if that answer at quarterback
- 42:57Speaker 2: is coming into twenty twenty six class.
- 42:59Speaker 3: I mean people talking about fandom.
- 43:02Speaker 1: If you threw after what we see for the last month,
- 43:06Speaker 1: if we threw Tyler Shuck.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Into this draft, oh, I mean, he's gonna be about
- 43:10Speaker 3: his age.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I know his age, but that guy can flat out
- 43:14Speaker 1: play Bucky.
- 43:15Speaker 2: He's gonna be at the top play. He's gonna be
- 43:16Speaker 2: at the top of the He's gonna be at the
- 43:17Speaker 2: top of the charts. And I think people have to
- 43:20Speaker 2: that that evaluation is that it's not just gonna be
- 43:23Speaker 2: twenty twenty twenty six class versus that, but it is
- 43:27Speaker 2: what do these look like versus Jackson Dark versus should
- 43:30Speaker 2: do or versus some of the young quarterbacks?
- 43:33Speaker 3: Where would they slot up?
- 43:34Speaker 2: And if we stack them all up, I don't know
- 43:36Speaker 2: if guys in the twenty twenty sixth class are.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Gonna be at the top of the list. Just give
- 43:41Speaker 3: him without team.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but even but even like nobody wants to talk
- 43:44Speaker 1: about you know Cam, you know in Tennessee. But all
- 43:48Speaker 1: he does, I mean, first of all, he's got all
- 43:51Speaker 1: rookies around him, all right, not a very good offensive
- 43:54Speaker 1: line in certain spots, but like he's gonna take every
- 43:58Speaker 1: snap for him this year. And all he does is
- 44:02Speaker 1: is just compete like hell, and he's looking like there's
- 44:05Speaker 1: a guy that you can build with. And so all
- 44:07Speaker 1: of a sudden, you know some guys that maybe weren't
- 44:10Speaker 1: I don't know, Like if you put Cam back in here,
- 44:12Speaker 1: Cam warton this draft, like this is number one pick,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I think again, and Tyler Shutt might be right behind
- 44:17Speaker 1: him right now.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. It's so fascinating. I can't
- 44:21Speaker 2: wait for us to finish and go through the postseason.
- 44:23Speaker 2: But you know, I love ten draft stuff with you,
- 44:25Speaker 2: especially when you look at these big guys, because watching
- 44:27Speaker 2: that Miami Texas game was a big, ugly game.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I'm sure you got the pig and slop watching those
- 44:32Speaker 3: big guys play.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Well, you know, Maredalad right now is like you know,
- 44:36Speaker 1: and then you know what Alabama's gonna have.
- 44:39Speaker 4: You know, if they were left.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Tad proc to me, Yeah, I mean it's gonna you
- 44:43Speaker 1: know it's gonna be one of those things where we're
- 44:45Speaker 1: gonna have to watch a lot in order to be
- 44:47Speaker 1: able to separate this tackle class, because I think there's
- 44:50Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of guys at the very top
- 44:52Speaker 1: of the draft and everybody's gonna be looking for that guy.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Well look, man, this is always fun. I love our
- 44:57Speaker 2: body's breakdowns on Monday. Thanks for coming on ball next week.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I let's do it, my buddy, Merry Christmas to you, Buck,
- 45:04Speaker 1: You too, man, My buddy got it.
- 45:10Speaker 5: M hm
