- speaker-0: Hey there, welcome back. Another episode of Six Figure Chicks, and I am so delighted to have Laquincia Q Nichols on the show with me today. gosh. Laquincia, thank you so much for joining us. Why don't you share a little bit about your awesomeness with the crowd? speaker-1: I'm so happy to be here and be able to connect with an entire population of six figure chicks and beyond. So hi everyone. I'm Laquinsa Q Nichols. I am the owner and founder of experience-coaching.com. And there I really focus on helping you bring your boldest self to your bravest conversations. speaker-0: Love that. That was like snap. speaker-1: Real quick, real quick, right? Because here's the thing. I think for a lot of us, and and giving you a little bit about my background now, I think my story is not unfamiliar. I did the the time in corporate, like most women, I did 20 plus years of corporate leadership and I had a really exciting career, learned a lot. but what I also leaned into in my observation of leading other leaders is that where women oftentimes who I primarily work with, where we can avoid a hard conversation, we will. And behind those hard conversations are really the opportunities. for growth. And so for me, when I think of myself as, you know, working in conflict resolution, conflict communication, how to look at it as a strategic opportunity to enhance your business, but also the quality of your relationships, it's been such a game changer for me. I grew up in Southern California and I tell people I was there between the 80s and the 2000s. So I saw a lot of conflict handled really well, but I saw a lot of conflict that was handled poorly. And I think when we can have a strategic support to navigate difficult conversations that we would probably like to avoid, that allows for us to move back in our power. We stop abandoning ourselves, but also we keep the other person in the place of being able to be powerful in the conversation as well. So for me, it's about strategy. It's not about avoiding the difficult conversations anymore. speaker-0: Yeah, and I love that, you know, before the show we were kind of talking about that of like stepping into your power and owning it and not feeling like other people are gonna judge you. Right. which is a challenging time that we face in different chapters of our life. you know, kind of like what's a big defining moment that you've had to face in your business, like after you left that secure corporate world? speaker-1: yes. Well, number one, it was realizing that I didn't know anything about being an entrepreneur. I didn't come from a family of entrepreneurs. So when we talk about really doing something different, every day was a learning opportunity for me. There were some skills that I was able to transfer over, but the key thing that I had to really get out of my own way was the areas where I did not know. I had to go find the people who did know, allow for them to show up and support me. So building a community around me of people who could help me do X thing or create the widget to help me move my business faster, but also allow me to stay in my particular zone of genius was it. So for me, it was speaking the areas that I wasn't the expert, finding the people who can do it and then creating that community so that way there weren't those stalls in my business. I didn't avoid doing the task because I didn't enjoy it. I got someone else who can do it and they enjoy doing it. speaker-0: So that would be like one golden nugget tip that you would give somebody like delegate. speaker-1: Delegate, right? I'm a big fan of Dan Martell's book, Buy Back Your Time, right? So where you can, absolutely I say, you know, put the money into the economy. There's someone else who wants to do that thing. Let them do it so you can focus on your main thing. speaker-0: Yeah. And I always say like I love money and I love it because it can help our community thrive and operate. Like I love being able to give money to the people that work for me. Like everything will come back tenfold. speaker-1: it comes back so much quick much so much more quickly too, Mel, because I think about it, sometimes you're holding on to those couple of dollars so hard because you're not sure what's going to be the right investment, or maybe you have low trust in yourself because maybe you've made some some investments that didn't really materialize the way you thought before. So now maybe you're a smarter person, you're a smarter buyer, but you're also thinking about it maybe a little bit too hard. I say Put the money out there because it's energy, right? It has to move, it has to flow. So let it go. It'll come back to you. If you're holding on to every dollar, I would probably make that a the assumption that I often tell people, don't do. If you're holding on to every dollar, you probably aren't having many dollars come in. Right. speaker-0: You you nailed it. Like I as soon as I got my business started, the first business, I immediately surrounded myself by people that were smarter than me, that had more experience than me, that and then had a coach. Yes. Coaches are the best thing that ever happened to me. like, you know, you yourself, like the it's one of those things you must invest in. speaker-1: absolutely. I always say be aware of the coach that doesn't have one. Right. Because they can only take you as far as they're willing to go. So if they're not willing to do that uncomfortable work, then how can they push you any further? And I'm I'm with you. I think, you know, a lot of times we hear that you're the sum of the five people around you. You become the six of whatever that thing is. But also if you're in a room where people are operating at just at an aspirational level, it's not about them doing better, but they inspire you to do more. Just by the influence being in their ecosystem, it requires you to do more or you get off the speaker-0: Yes, right. Get out of your own way. Absolutely. Okay, so let's switch it up. let's let listen let's let the listeners know a fun fact that not a lot of people do know about you. speaker-1: my goodness. So I am on most Saturdays, you can find me probably glued to my TV watching some form of combat sports. I love the UFC. I love this new thing I just discovered called karate combat. I love boxing. I do a kickboxing fitness class at home. And I just told my wife, I said, okay, I think I'm ready for my own light bag to have in the garage. So It may be an output of some, you know, maybe a cheaper form of talk therapy, but I love combat sports. That's a I love that. speaker-0: Amazing. Cause I would not expect that. I mean I don't know you that well, but yeah first meetings I'd be like, Yeah, nope, that and I didn't think she'd be doing that on Saturday. speaker-1: I'm all into it. It's so much fun to me. And I I am also very particular. I watch all of the women fight first and then I go back and watch the men. speaker-0: Yes. UFC women speaker-1: my goodness, they are kick-ass. Yeah. I'm like I do not even know. speaker-0: How they survive each other. speaker-1: my goodness. And it's and the thing about it is I I like it because you're competing against yourself. Right. To do better. And that has transcended over to my business life a lot, the discipline that it requires, the commitment, the building up those other areas where you it may not be your strength. You may have a powerful jab, but if something else is weak, then we gotta focus on that other area or someone's gonna exploit your weak area. speaker-0: So thinking about like on your past life, your nine to five, or before that, like what would be one piece of advice that you would give to your younger self? speaker-1: Mm. Do it scared. Do it scared. And and I say that because sometimes we overthink it so much. We think that if we you post that piece of content, you write that article, you you give your point of view that like the earth is gonna crack open and everyone's gonna be looking and you're gonna fall through. It's probably not gonna be that big of a deal. But for the people who need to receive your message, it's gonna go right to them. And for the people who it's not for, it'll fly over and it'll be no big deal. So just do it. speaker-0: For sure. And I mean, like thinking about, you know, how small we were at that age of like thinking like nobody else is going through what we're going through. Now we are thrust into this new world that we've created by ourselves. Yeah. and then brought in other people to help us. looking around, like especially for coaches, like even me, my first company, the virtual assistant company, there are a thousand other other VAs out there and coaches in the next city block. Like what is one thing that can help keep you from the crowded marketplace that you're in? speaker-1: Yeah, you know, this sometimes there's a lot of sea of sameness that I call it. But there's there's one thing that helps me stay grounded. And you may have heard this before, but it's when I walk down the bread aisle, there are so many different types of bread, right? That cater to so many different tastes, dietary needs, all of the things. And everyone goes and they pick their their bread that best feel that feels best for them, that right that satisfies those needs. So while Myself and someone else, we may have a very similar point of view, our approach, our own unique lived experience, all those things make us slightly different to where my messaging might be a little bit different. It'll resonate with some. And for others, they'll like a different approach. And that's all okay. And I even think that also is a great way to inspire collaboration, right? If we have a group of audience, a group of women that we can tag team and really double click into the message. Let's do that rather than dividing the audience and then making them choose. Let's give them both of us. speaker-0: Yeah, most definitely. And what are your thoughts about like, you know, yeah, being in the sea of sameness, but being in a room full of coaches? Like I never see a roadblock if I'm in the room of ten other virtual assistants or ten other publishers. Like, what are your thoughts on that? Yeah. speaker-1: I see it as either an opportunity to look for where is the collaboration? What are they doing? But then I think what's different is you also can use it as a a pressure test to understand what's going on in your industry. What are some of the the experiences that you may be having, right? The trials, the tribulations, but where are you seeing some successes? What are you learning new about maybe technology? So I I think you have to be thoughtful about your mindset going into that environment. If you walk into the environment with them a mindset of competition, then that's what you're going to put out. But if you walk into it with a mindset of I want to learn, I want to connect, I want to collaborate, then that's what you're going to do. speaker-0: Right. And it I fully agree with you on that because it's like we all have different processes and different systems that we use. And for us to be able to see, hey, what what are you doing? What are you using? Right. It doesn't mean you have to like change everything, speaker-1: Now. speaker-0: but it is a collaboration of thoughtfulness and ideas and processes. Like I'm So big into that. So say you're walking into that room, what do you do to get pumped up? What's your song? speaker-1: Geez, there's so many. but there's one song that came on during my workout the other like a week ago, and I was like, God, this is a really good song. And it was and this may age me just a little bit, but it's Gwen Stefani, what you're waiting for. And I was just like, I love this song. It gets me excited, it gets me going. It had me go back and listen to the black eyep's, listen to Fergie's music. So for me, I'm always I you know, I'm a girl, I love all types of music, but if I can just put it on there's a good P the beat, the B PMs are high, I'm all for it. And then you know, everything Beyonce. She does nothing wrong in my eyes. So just a note for the g for the BI partner. speaker-0: I love that. I was talking to somebody and they were like, gosh, the best sponsor I ever saw was Janet Jackson. speaker-1: I just got to see her. You did? Yeah, when she came to to Phoenix I got to see her. It was a wonderful experience. speaker-0: Yeah, they said something that was really remarkable and stuck with me is that when she was when they were at the concert, it was like she was singing to them. Yes. And I've heard that with other speakers on stages. It's like I felt their message, like they were talking right to me. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. And I think that requires a level of openness because you gotta be ready to receive as well. speaker-0: Mm-hmm. Very vulnerable. And yeah. speaker-1: Set those letters. There you go. speaker-0: All right. Well, I love to keep it short and sweet so that other people, the listeners, want to know more about you because yes, we have had a great conversation on the podcast. We had an even better one before the podcast recording. Like this lady is somebody you want to have that conversation with. How can people find you? What's the best online platform to find you? speaker-1: Say that the best way to keep up with me with all things going on is probably Instagram. And you can find me there at Quincy.
