Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's your host,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Nasa Chobee.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk Victory Tuesday at
- 0:16Speaker 2: the Reginia Mason Athletics Center. Seahawks get it done on
- 0:19Speaker 2: Monday Night football, taking down the Texans twenty seven to nineteen.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Bump And I'll say this, that game was odd.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It was.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It was a game that you felt the Seahawks absolutely dominated,
- 0:28Speaker 2: but Denois show up on the scoreboard. But here's what
- 0:31Speaker 2: set out to me before we get into it. Mike
- 0:33Speaker 2: McDonald preaches a couple of things. A style that nobody
- 0:36Speaker 2: wants to play through, not around decisive, relentless shockings. We
- 0:43Speaker 2: saw that defensively all game long yesterday, and we're gonna
- 0:46Speaker 2: talk a lot about the defense. The atmosphere was crazy,
- 0:48Speaker 2: but building off that what we saw last night, that's
- 0:52Speaker 2: how championships are won. I'm not saying we're there yet,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'm just saying, defensively, when you shut down the run,
- 0:57Speaker 2: you play like they did, it can lead to great things.
- 0:59Speaker 2: And I would love to We saw.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and you just fight through some stuff.
- 1:02Speaker 4: It wasn't the cleanest game, right, but you did do
- 1:04Speaker 4: some great things. You helped them to what like third
- 1:07Speaker 4: down percentage which was crazy two for something on the
- 1:10Speaker 4: two for fourteen, I think they were something like that.
- 1:12Speaker 4: You wasn't great on third down either, but at least
- 1:14Speaker 4: you didn't allow them to do their thing shut down
- 1:16Speaker 4: the run. So there are some positives. And honestly, when
- 1:19Speaker 4: you win games like this that's kind of sloppy. You
- 1:21Speaker 4: let some points out there, you just build some type
- 1:24Speaker 4: of callous and it's a good teach tape. T tape
- 1:27Speaker 4: is great when you win. Absolutely when you lose, it's
- 1:29Speaker 4: a different story.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I love to learn things and win. So
- 1:32Speaker 2: Siak did that last night. Like you said, it wasn't
- 1:34Speaker 2: the best and it was needed for this city.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yes, it was a tough night obviously with the Manners loss,
- 1:41Speaker 2: but it was great that Seahawk took care of business.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And that's what we're gonna talk about. What had happened. See,
- 1:47Speaker 2: what had happened was what had happened at first was what.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Had happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I said it off top Bump. It felt like the
- 1:54Speaker 2: Seahawk should have been up thirty points. I mean, they
- 1:56Speaker 2: were dominating this football game on the scoreboard, through every where,
- 2:00Speaker 2: butt thiscore word actually in the Texans just hung around.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're a good football team. We knew that coming in.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But Seahawks went three and out in their first possession,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and then it seemed like Chennon and Wosu had a sack.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I thought it was a safety too. I thought it
- 2:13Speaker 2: was a safety tackle him knee down in the end zone.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Ball in the end zone as well. Somehow his forward
- 2:19Speaker 2: progress were stopped outside the end zone. I don't understand it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: It is what it is. I don't want to get
- 2:23Speaker 2: in trouble on this thing. But either way, another great
- 2:26Speaker 2: play by Chenna because Seahawks get the ball back. They
- 2:28Speaker 2: would then get the scoring going with a five play
- 2:30Speaker 2: forty four yard drive to end with a one yard
- 2:32Speaker 2: touchdown run by Zack Scharbonday give me the Seahawks a
- 2:35Speaker 2: seven nothing lead that was set up by two huge
- 2:37Speaker 2: catches by Elijah Royal, including a big twenty seven yard grab.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yep, the Hawks will force a punt and in the
- 2:42Speaker 4: offense would march right down the field again.
- 2:44Speaker 3: They go ten plays eighty yards and with an eleven
- 2:47Speaker 3: yard touchdown.
- 2:48Speaker 4: The JSNA strike given the Seahawks a fourteen zero league
- 2:51Speaker 4: and we're gonna break that play down later. The next
- 2:53Speaker 4: three drives win in punts, which included yet another play
- 2:57Speaker 4: that looked like it was going to be a safety
- 2:59Speaker 4: against the Techs. We'll spare all the details, just know
- 3:03Speaker 4: that technically the play never happened.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it was listening to the head official try to
- 3:07Speaker 2: explain what happened and what your eyes saw. I've never
- 3:09Speaker 2: been in a game where you should have had two safeties,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but it is what it is.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yeah, first time for me, it was It was funny
- 3:14Speaker 4: because I was in the booth with you guys and
- 3:16Speaker 4: Raves and Wyman when it went down, and listening to
- 3:18Speaker 4: Rabele even trying to make sense of it.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I was like, all right, man, I'm done. I'm not
- 3:21Speaker 3: eve gonna try to understand this anymore.
- 3:23Speaker 4: But the Hawks had a pretty promise in driving the
- 3:25Speaker 4: next possession, but disaster struck when the Hawks died up
- 3:28Speaker 4: a trick play and Cooper's cup pass was intercepted intended
- 3:31Speaker 4: for js And look, you tell a receiver he's throwing
- 3:34Speaker 4: a ball in the double pass, He's gonna throw that
- 3:36Speaker 4: ball no matter what, Yeah, won a horrible throw dismissed
- 3:38Speaker 4: a little high, but not a horrible throw. But I
- 3:42Speaker 4: did scratch my head, thinking, man, maybe we should have
- 3:44Speaker 4: just ran that football or something basic. But if that
- 3:48Speaker 4: play is completed, we're gassing up Koubya.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Of course, Mike McDonald said it in postgame. He said, well,
- 3:53Speaker 2: don't you guys trust Cooper Cup and I do too, Right,
- 3:56Speaker 2: Obviously things go his way. Jason was open. He dismissed
- 3:59Speaker 2: the throw. Unfortunate for the Seahawks there, and that led
- 4:03Speaker 2: to the first scoring drive for the Texans. They go
- 4:04Speaker 2: ten play six yards, ending with a thirty six yard
- 4:06Speaker 2: field goal that made it fourteen to three. The Hawks
- 4:09Speaker 2: would then get a field goal blocked, which set up
- 4:11Speaker 2: another three points for the Texans. Unfortunately, they steal some
- 4:13Speaker 2: points and it's fourteen to six at halftime and you're thinking, no,
- 4:16Speaker 2: this game minimum should be twenty one three, if not
- 4:19Speaker 2: twenty eight zero. So that was a tough way to
- 4:21Speaker 2: go into the halftime. But the Seahawks came out got
- 4:24Speaker 2: things going in the third quarter.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah, third quarter got a little weird. Started off with
- 4:27Speaker 4: an interception by Ernest. We're gonna break that one down
- 4:29Speaker 4: too that set up Jason Myers field goal. The Hawks
- 4:32Speaker 4: will force a punt, but disaster struck again with Donald
- 4:35Speaker 4: was hit and sacked in the end zone, fumbled and
- 4:37Speaker 4: was recovered by Will Anderson for a touchdown. That made
- 4:39Speaker 4: the score of seventeen to twelve. So the Seahawks responded though,
- 4:43Speaker 4: they got a field goal, and then the defense will
- 4:45Speaker 4: step up again stopping the Texans on fourth and one
- 4:48Speaker 4: and from their own forty one yard line.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Big play by DeMarcus Lawrence.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Absolutely, we talked about this last week when came back
- 4:54Speaker 2: to Jacksonville. He is a baller. He is a game
- 4:58Speaker 2: changer on this defense. Huge with him out, they love
- 5:00Speaker 2: to seeing him making plays there. From there, the Hawks
- 5:02Speaker 2: were marched right down on a short field. Zach Sharbonney
- 5:04Speaker 2: finds the ends and again from two yards out, making
- 5:06Speaker 2: the score twenty seven to twelve at the end of
- 5:08Speaker 2: the third quarter. That scoring drive was helped out by
- 5:10Speaker 2: Jaysn forcing a pass interference. He probably catches that touchdown
- 5:13Speaker 2: on that play if that does not happen, And at
- 5:16Speaker 2: that point in the game, bumps pretty clear Seahawks were
- 5:18Speaker 2: in control. They were dominating this game. It should he
- 5:20Speaker 2: be even a bigger margin. It wasn't. But then the
- 5:24Speaker 2: game just not got away, just one of those like
- 5:26Speaker 2: you knew they were going to win, but it wasn't
- 5:27Speaker 2: clean towards the end. Defensively, the Hawks kept the pressure on.
- 5:30Speaker 2: They forced a punt, two turnover on downs. But then
- 5:33Speaker 2: offensively the Hawks turn the ball over twice. You go
- 5:35Speaker 2: three and out before ending the game on the final
- 5:38Speaker 2: possession thanks to an unnecessary roughness penalty by Houston. You
- 5:41Speaker 2: kneel it out. Twenty seven nineteen win. You don't apologize
- 5:43Speaker 2: for wins in this league.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Now.
- 5:44Speaker 4: He scored twenty seven against the defense I was given
- 5:46Speaker 4: up twelve, So yeah, you're good to go. Saw this
- 5:50Speaker 4: from Brady Henderson the context on how much the Seahawks
- 5:53Speaker 4: defense helped their offense tonight. Seattle had five scoring drives
- 5:56Speaker 4: and three of them began in Houston territory. That's always
- 5:59Speaker 4: good short in that field, a lot of your offense
- 6:01Speaker 4: to go to work. The seahaw scored twenty seven points,
- 6:03Speaker 4: like I said, against a team that's only given a
- 6:05Speaker 4: twelve point two, so that is a plus there. It
- 6:08Speaker 4: was a good result despite a tough day offensively, four
- 6:10Speaker 4: turnovers two for fourteen on thirds, six penalties.
- 6:12Speaker 3: There's a lot going on with that offense.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and again we've seen them at the highest of highs.
- 6:16Speaker 2: This offense operates at a high level. They were going
- 6:18Speaker 2: against a good opun and we talked about all the
- 6:20Speaker 2: dogs they have on defense and they still we're gonna
- 6:22Speaker 2: get into some of those matchups still. But you know what,
- 6:25Speaker 2: I feel really good about this team, bump, and they
- 6:27Speaker 2: could be scary good five and two. Coach McDonald said
- 6:29Speaker 2: post game, we can't expect Julian Love, Devin Witherspoon and
- 6:33Speaker 2: then hopefully Robbie oots back after the bye. This team
- 6:35Speaker 2: at full strength. I love that Mike McDonald is finally
- 6:38Speaker 2: in position where he has to decide who's going to
- 6:40Speaker 2: play in the secondary. I love that. So the Seahawks
- 6:43Speaker 2: could be scary good overall the bump as we head
- 6:45Speaker 2: into the bye. What did you learn most about this
- 6:47Speaker 2: team on Monday Night?
- 6:48Speaker 3: I think not just Monday night, the last couple of weeks.
- 6:51Speaker 3: So they're deep.
- 6:52Speaker 4: You're getting quality rats from guys like Tyle Katta, you
- 6:55Speaker 4: got job out there, Drake Thomas, and you haven't seen
- 6:59Speaker 4: this defense all all together. Yeah, also learned that they're
- 7:01Speaker 4: the best when it comes to play atch and pass,
- 7:04Speaker 4: and it's crazy because the run game is still ain't
- 7:06Speaker 4: hitting the way that you want to hit, but it
- 7:07Speaker 4: influences the defense and we learn that they can be resident.
- 7:11Speaker 4: That game was not clean on Monday, but it was
- 7:13Speaker 4: clean enough to get the W and you celebrated every
- 7:16Speaker 4: W the same.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Absolutely, you know, I think for me, yeah, goes off
- 7:20Speaker 2: that depth. This defense can be elite, like illegally, this
- 7:23Speaker 2: can be a top five defense. We said that on
- 7:25Speaker 2: this podcast coming in the year. We think that's where
- 7:26Speaker 2: they were heading towards the way this defensive line is playing.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Like I said, when you get healthy in that secondary,
- 7:31Speaker 2: this team can be scary good. And the good thing
- 7:33Speaker 2: about that depth is if there ever is injury stuff,
- 7:36Speaker 2: tyer Cott is not going to start for the first time.
- 7:37Speaker 2: He has all those starts under his belt. Tyre Snight's
- 7:39Speaker 2: guy who's played Drake. So there's all these different guys
- 7:42Speaker 2: getting reps and playing meaningful snaps this season. So love
- 7:45Speaker 2: what we're seeing from these guys. But going back into
- 7:47Speaker 2: who made plays, there were a lot of plays made
- 7:50Speaker 2: on Monday night playmakers.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Playmakers told them what time it is?
- 8:00Speaker 5: Oh wait?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Starting off with Sam Darnld. You know the numbers wise,
- 8:04Speaker 2: he's had some ridiculous games of late, so these aren't
- 8:07Speaker 2: going to jump off the page. Seventeen or thirty one
- 8:09Speaker 2: two or thirteen, one touchdown, one interception. He want to
- 8:13Speaker 2: have a couple plays back. I think we can all
- 8:15Speaker 2: say that. But he played well. He stood tough in
- 8:17Speaker 2: the pocket. You got guys like Will Anderson Shair, you
- 8:20Speaker 2: got guys in the secondary. I thought Darnld did what
- 8:23Speaker 2: he needed to do to help this team win. Made
- 8:25Speaker 2: some big throws and I still love the way he's playing.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you know when he when you set the bar
- 8:31Speaker 3: so high, he does it himself.
- 8:33Speaker 4: When he has a game like this, it's easy for
- 8:35Speaker 4: you to look at the numbers and wonder what happened
- 8:37Speaker 4: when you watched the game. He made some throws, man,
- 8:39Speaker 4: and it was a battle. It happens that way. Jason
- 8:41Speaker 4: had himself another good day. Eight receptions, one twenty three,
- 8:44Speaker 4: one touchdown. He became the second player in franchise history
- 8:47Speaker 4: to record three straight one hundred yard games, and his
- 8:50Speaker 4: five one hundred yard games this season are tired for
- 8:52Speaker 4: the second most in franchise history, which is crazy. He's
- 8:55Speaker 4: got a lot more to do now. Before this year,
- 8:57Speaker 4: he only had three one hundred yard games. Jason has
- 9:00Speaker 4: at least a twenty six yard reception in every game
- 9:03Speaker 4: this season. He has eight hundred nineteen yards this season,
- 9:05Speaker 4: best md NFL in per ESPN research, It's the most
- 9:09Speaker 4: over a seven game span in Seahawk history. Steve Largen
- 9:12Speaker 4: had seventy seven and nineteen eighty four and eighty five season.
- 9:15Speaker 4: That puts him on pace for nineteen hundred eighty nine
- 9:18Speaker 4: yards eleven yard shy of the first two thousand yard
- 9:22Speaker 4: season from a wide out in the NFL. Who has
- 9:25Speaker 4: the record for most yards in the Seasonvin Johns, Calvin Johnson, Right, Calvin,
- 9:28Speaker 4: and then and then it's Cooper Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 2: To it's like nineteen something. It was close.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Yeah, he's doing things, man, he's and he's making it
- 9:35Speaker 4: look easy. And he started off kind of slow too,
- 9:38Speaker 4: and we're used to forty something yard receptions.
- 9:41Speaker 2: This week he got a right twenty six.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I mean, anytime you're on the list, you're talking about
- 9:46Speaker 2: Calvin Johnson and even one of your teammates, Cooper Cup
- 9:48Speaker 2: when you were in the Triple Crown, I mean that
- 9:50Speaker 2: is outrageous. That's to continue at this pace all year
- 9:54Speaker 2: is gonna be hard, obviously, but I don't put anything
- 9:57Speaker 2: past this man because what we're seeing week in and
- 9:59Speaker 2: week out. Talk about the running backs, Ken Walker, Zach
- 10:01Speaker 2: Scharba Day, ken Walker seventeen carries sixty six yards along
- 10:05Speaker 2: of sixteen and then Zach SHARBONNEK twelve carries forty nine
- 10:07Speaker 2: yards two touchdowns. Again, the run game isn't statistically where
- 10:13Speaker 2: the Seahawks want to be. I know they want to
- 10:14Speaker 2: correct a lot of things, but we're seeing the glimpses
- 10:17Speaker 2: of it. It's just about putting it all together.
- 10:19Speaker 3: You know what I saw today?
- 10:21Speaker 4: K nine is tied for the most explosive runs in
- 10:25Speaker 4: the NFL, and they don't feel like you would never
- 10:27Speaker 4: think that, never think that, No tie for first. It's
- 10:29Speaker 4: like five running backs with five explosive runs. But yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 4: so there's an indicator too. It might not be all
- 10:35Speaker 4: at one time, but yeah, he's moving that thing. Ernest
- 10:37Speaker 4: Jones had eleven tackles, let the team one TfL, one
- 10:40Speaker 4: pass defended, one interception.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He's got three on the year. Now. The guy's leading
- 10:44Speaker 3: the NFL and interceptions.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Devin Lloyd woul number four linebacker and then Ernest is
- 10:49Speaker 4: like tie for like fourth or fifth or something with
- 10:51Speaker 4: three interceptions.
- 10:52Speaker 3: He just finds himself in the right spot.
- 10:54Speaker 2: No, I mean he's been a leader since day one.
- 10:56Speaker 2: He showed up here. Love what Ernest is doing again,
- 10:58Speaker 2: solidifying the middle of that defense and where we were
- 11:02Speaker 2: hurt for a lot of years. You know what I'm saying.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So love what Ernest is doing there. And the Tylecott
- 11:05Speaker 2: I got a shot him. Shout him out because he
- 11:09Speaker 2: when we interviewed him on The Hawk's Live, it is unreal.
- 11:11Speaker 2: This man never played defense until he got to college.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Was a walk on at Montana's State, was a quarterback.
- 11:19Speaker 2: He said that on his film that they sent to
- 11:21Speaker 2: Montana State, one of the plays they included was an
- 11:24Speaker 2: interception of his because he ran down and knocked the
- 11:27Speaker 2: dude out. Love it. We're seeing from ty nine tackles,
- 11:29Speaker 2: six solo, one sack, one TfL, one PASSI event, and
- 11:32Speaker 2: one QB hit. And you talk about just a journey
- 11:34Speaker 2: as someone who's been through a road to be starting
- 11:36Speaker 2: games in the National Football League. Love Love, love or
- 11:39Speaker 2: seen out of Tylecott at Montana State.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and d law DeMarcus Lawrence once again two tackles,
- 11:44Speaker 4: one sack, one quarterback hit in two TFLs. We did
- 11:48Speaker 4: a whole segment on him in the pregame, show him
- 11:51Speaker 4: the defensive line, but we highlighted DeMarcus Lawrence and him
- 11:54Speaker 4: being healthy has done wonders for this defensive line. This
- 11:57Speaker 4: group what third in the league. I believe in sex
- 11:59Speaker 4: which twenty three and he's a big, big reason for that. Oh,
- 12:03Speaker 4: no question about de law is doing some things.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Ben Drake Thomas another guy that another name that you
- 12:08Speaker 2: wouldn't have thought that we'd be talking about at this
- 12:09Speaker 2: point in the year, but he's balling out out of
- 12:11Speaker 2: North Carolina State. He had five tackles, five solo, two TFLs,
- 12:15Speaker 2: three passes defended. Would you love to see that one
- 12:17Speaker 2: QB hit. He's playing real well. You know, he's kind
- 12:20Speaker 2: of emerged above Tyree Knight, but they're both in their
- 12:23Speaker 2: competing week to week. Every time we talk about it
- 12:26Speaker 2: and then bump defense as a whole man. I mean
- 12:28Speaker 2: three sacks, seven QB hits, ten TFLs, twelve passes defended,
- 12:33Speaker 2: one interception. This defense is balling out again, Like I said,
- 12:36Speaker 2: vacant be elite, and they are showing you that right now.
- 12:38Speaker 4: All three of their sacks were on third downs too,
- 12:41Speaker 4: so you're forcing them to put it on the foot.
- 12:43Speaker 4: So I love seeing that. All right, let's get to
- 12:45Speaker 4: this wide receiver round up. Already talked about JSN eight
- 12:49Speaker 4: for one to twenty three, Elijah Rael four for forty two, Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 4: Cooper Cup one for thirty two. You got aj Barnet
- 12:55Speaker 4: one for seven, Charbonne had two for six, Bubble had
- 12:58Speaker 4: one for three. Horden no targets, I actually not. I
- 13:01Speaker 4: had three targets, s R three targets, no receptions. So
- 13:04Speaker 4: decent day from this group. Like I said, Sam has
- 13:07Speaker 4: set the bar so high. When I look at these,
- 13:09Speaker 4: it feels a little off these numbers because they have
- 13:11Speaker 4: set the bar higher as well.
- 13:12Speaker 2: But you you got that w yeah, and sometimes you
- 13:15Speaker 2: look at it and say, hey, I'd love to see
- 13:16Speaker 2: other people get more targets. You have the best receiver
- 13:19Speaker 2: in the National Football League a game. If I see
- 13:21Speaker 2: a stat line and Jason doesn't have at least twelve targets,
- 13:24Speaker 2: we're doing something wrong. Well. That flips us over to
- 13:27Speaker 2: the plays of the game again. Jasn is a staple
- 13:30Speaker 2: in this segment because of what he does on the
- 13:31Speaker 2: field each and every week as we break down some
- 13:33Speaker 2: of the biggest plays in the game. We're gonna start
- 13:35Speaker 2: with Sam Darnold finding Jackson Smith and Jigbu for eight
- 13:38Speaker 2: eleven yard touchdown first.
- 13:40Speaker 5: And ten inside the fifteen looks, throws fire to the
- 13:43Speaker 5: end zone. Ball is Cook, touch up, Seyhawks, I'm dunking
- 13:49Speaker 5: it over the bar is Jackson Smith and Jigbu and
- 13:53Speaker 5: flags go down because you can't do that as you've
- 13:57Speaker 5: grabbed the bar and that can make the whole goalpost
- 14:01Speaker 5: wiggle and get out of alignment.
- 14:03Speaker 3: But the touchdown stands.
- 14:06Speaker 5: The fourth touchdown of the year for JSN from eleven
- 14:09Speaker 5: yards out.
- 14:11Speaker 4: All right, here's what we got. We got I believe
- 14:13Speaker 4: that's aj Barner. He starts on the left side of
- 14:15Speaker 4: the formation. He motions to the right side. You see
- 14:17Speaker 4: that linebacker go with them. Linebacker or safety go with him.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So that tells you that is man. You got K
- 14:22Speaker 4: nine who motions out a little bit and you see
- 14:24Speaker 4: that adjustment. But it really happens down here on the bottom.
- 14:26Speaker 4: You got Cooper Cup. You have JSN outside of him.
- 14:29Speaker 4: How they're playing Cooper Cup right now? It's a bracket, right,
- 14:32Speaker 4: You got that dB, who's going to pass Cooper Cup
- 14:35Speaker 4: off to his safety?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Right, it's just their rules.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It looks like when it comes to this deep cross,
- 14:40Speaker 4: what that does is it creates some space for Jason
- 14:42Speaker 4: to work on the outside because number five is so
- 14:45Speaker 4: focused on Cooper Cup. Then pass them off to a safety.
- 14:48Speaker 4: He creates a window for Jason to work him now
- 14:51Speaker 4: just gets a jasm. This is one of the more
- 14:53Speaker 4: violent routes I've seen him running. I think week by week, man,
- 14:56Speaker 4: I'm watching him grow in his route running. So he's
- 14:59Speaker 4: just running a simple bang route. Right, you get to
- 15:01Speaker 4: your right foot, boom, stick it outside. You've widened the
- 15:04Speaker 4: dB to create even more space from that dB that's
- 15:07Speaker 4: running across with Cooper Cup. Stick your foot in the
- 15:10Speaker 4: ground and listen. Good route, better throw. Sam Donald stands
- 15:14Speaker 4: in there and throws a dart to JSN. Jason makes
- 15:17Speaker 4: a catch and he dunks that thing. So now if
- 15:19Speaker 4: we focus on this offensive line, all right, you under center,
- 15:22Speaker 4: you get back to your seven step drop, and one
- 15:25Speaker 4: of your lineman gets beat. He gets beat, but you
- 15:27Speaker 4: stand in there, you stand tall, You get hitting your
- 15:29Speaker 4: chest and talking about Sam Darnald and still has enough
- 15:32Speaker 4: power to drive that ball through two defenders.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Sam Donald's showing just his arm talent.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, Paul Moore has been on this kick
- 15:41Speaker 2: this whole year that he might be the most talented,
- 15:43Speaker 2: not necessarily the best already, but the most talented quarterback
- 15:46Speaker 2: in Seahawks history. He mean, he's putting on his play
- 15:48Speaker 2: week after week and bump you nail most of it.
- 15:50Speaker 2: But like, first of all, jas n who's mashup on
- 15:53Speaker 2: him in the secondary? I believe that's mister Stingley, is it?
- 15:57Speaker 2: That isn't all pro player right there? So that just
- 15:59Speaker 2: shows you again and the level of Jackson Smith and
- 16:02Speaker 2: Jigba how he is playing football right now. Again, the
- 16:04Speaker 2: violence of the route, love that you mentioned. Pressure up
- 16:07Speaker 2: the middle, Darnold just a subtle holds a safety just enough,
- 16:11Speaker 2: subtly looking at Cooper Cup across the middle of Boom
- 16:13Speaker 2: fires a dart touchdown Seahawks. That connection is so wild.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Considering this is the first year they're playing together, you'd
- 16:19Speaker 2: have think they played together for a decade. So week
- 16:22Speaker 2: after week they continue to make plays and then we're
- 16:25Speaker 2: gonna show some love to the defense. Ernest Jones picking
- 16:28Speaker 2: off C. J. Stroud.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Stroud steps up in the pocket, throws over the middle.
- 16:31Speaker 5: It's intercepted, falling down on the ground, getting up. It's
- 16:35Speaker 5: Jones comes near signed forty thirty five thirty has a
- 16:38Speaker 5: convoy knocked.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Out of bounds near sidelines.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Holy catfish won an interception.
- 16:45Speaker 4: All right, this one, this is uh, this is rolling
- 16:47Speaker 4: the dice right here, this is rolling the dice right
- 16:51Speaker 4: You got Texas they come out, and you got CJ
- 16:53Speaker 4: shroud under center. But y'all want you to look at
- 16:55Speaker 4: the corners. Corner at the top of leeve, that's job.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Corner at the bottom is William. You got a corner blitz.
- 17:00Speaker 4: So what that does is stresses out the linebackers. Your
- 17:03Speaker 4: outside backers now have hooked the curl curl flat. They
- 17:05Speaker 4: got all of that over there. They got a lot
- 17:07Speaker 4: of space to cover. And then you have Ernest Jones
- 17:09Speaker 4: playing center field. They're hoping that they get pressure on
- 17:11Speaker 4: this quarterback and he makes a mistake. You still got
- 17:13Speaker 4: two ice safeties over the top, lots of space for
- 17:17Speaker 4: route combinations to work. Well, why doesn't it work? Because
- 17:20Speaker 4: you are able to get pressure off the edges. One
- 17:22Speaker 4: corner occupies the running back, the other corner comes free
- 17:25Speaker 4: get your hands on Stroud.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Stroud looking towards the middle.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Kind of got lucky here because Ernest Jones does slip
- 17:31Speaker 4: a little bit, but the pressure has that off throw
- 17:33Speaker 4: Ernest Jones being where you're supposed to be a kids.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Sometimes you just get to your spot and good things
- 17:38Speaker 4: will happen. That's what I saw here.
- 17:40Speaker 2: No, this is great. I mean, the Seahawks don't blitz often,
- 17:42Speaker 2: so I love that when you make a call like
- 17:44Speaker 2: this that it pays off again corner blitz. That you're
- 17:46Speaker 2: putting a lot of stress in the linebackers as well
- 17:48Speaker 2: as the two ice safeties, because that's a lot to cover.
- 17:50Speaker 2: The way it broke out though, you essentially had five
- 17:52Speaker 2: cover and three with the three underneath, two over the top.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And then again Ernest Jones does a great job getting
- 17:57Speaker 2: depth opening his lips again he slips, which we don't
- 18:00Speaker 2: love there, but still to make that play to still
- 18:02Speaker 2: intercept that ball is great. I love that Josh job
- 18:05Speaker 2: you mentioned it sending the pressure there and then at
- 18:08Speaker 2: the end of this play. It's unfortunate what happened with
- 18:10Speaker 2: Chennon and Wilson here, but back in the day that
- 18:13Speaker 2: was just called the football.
- 18:14Speaker 3: It was just it was just a play that.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Was just a normal run of the mill, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 2: and there's a turnover or on punt ye when you're
- 18:20Speaker 2: chasing someone down and you need to keep your head
- 18:22Speaker 2: on a swivel because someone's looping back. Typically, that just
- 18:24Speaker 2: is what it is. It was unfortunate for that, but
- 18:27Speaker 2: I love what we're seeing from Ernest Jones in his
- 18:29Speaker 2: defense and Bump like it, just making plays play after play.
- 18:32Speaker 4: And honestly, it could have been a lot more violent
- 18:33Speaker 4: than that. He took it easy on him.
- 18:35Speaker 2: That's what I thought. Maybe it would have been better
- 18:37Speaker 2: if you put the hands up or if he just
- 18:39Speaker 2: like went there and shielded him and stopped. I don't
- 18:41Speaker 2: know what you do there, but again, it is what
- 18:43Speaker 2: it is. This team is playing at a high level,
- 18:46Speaker 2: setting us up for our favorite formation every week, the
- 18:48Speaker 2: victory formation.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Here comes the Seahawk offense onto the field and the
- 18:53Speaker 5: Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one meal down
- 18:59Speaker 5: and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Down and win this one.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Seahawks take care of business at Luminfield as it should be.
- 19:09Speaker 2: That's what's right in the world. Taking care of business.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Winning at home. It's a tough place to play. And
- 19:12Speaker 2: I mentioned earlier the Twelves were rocket like we were
- 19:15Speaker 2: down on the field. Bomb had a little feature going
- 19:17Speaker 2: on there and it was loud. It was absolutely loud.
- 19:20Speaker 2: The Twelves were bringing it and the Seahawks defense thrived
- 19:22Speaker 2: off of that and they showed what they're going on
- 19:24Speaker 2: and it was, like I said, much needed result. The
- 19:26Speaker 2: Marins had a tough loss in Toronto during that game
- 19:28Speaker 2: and the fans needed some good news, and of course
- 19:31Speaker 2: our Seahawks are here to bring it to everybody, and
- 19:33Speaker 2: it was good to see.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Yeah, you did turn the ball over four times two
- 19:36Speaker 4: fourteen on third down, but you know what, you got
- 19:38Speaker 4: it done. Jayson keeps showing the NFL I might be
- 19:42Speaker 4: the best of the game right now. This level of
- 19:43Speaker 4: production is crazy. But at the end of the day,
- 19:45Speaker 4: it was about the defense. They shut it down. They
- 19:48Speaker 4: had three secs, seven QB hits, ten TFLs, twelve passive
- 19:51Speaker 4: defended twelve. I have to double check that when Lawyer
- 19:53Speaker 4: said it, I'm like twelve passive defended, goodness, and one
- 19:56Speaker 4: interception held the Texas to fifty six yards rushing on
- 19:59Speaker 4: twenty five carries some good stuff.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Twenty five of those came on a scramble by C. J. Strout.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, no, just dominant again, elite level defense. You hear
- 20:07Speaker 2: me continue to say that, because that's the defense you
- 20:10Speaker 2: don't want to play, lining up snap after snap, just
- 20:12Speaker 2: grinding them down. And uh man, Like I said, this
- 20:15Speaker 2: team can be fully healthy coming out of the bye week,
- 20:17Speaker 2: go and they can put the rest of the NFL
- 20:19Speaker 2: on notice because there's not a game on the schedule
- 20:21Speaker 2: where you look at it and go, I don't know
- 20:22Speaker 2: if they Yeah, there's gonna be great. Teams are gonna
- 20:24Speaker 2: play and the Saws are gonna have to play well,
- 20:26Speaker 2: but they're in a position that they can really stack
- 20:28Speaker 2: wins and get this thing done. And I'm bump. I'm
- 20:30Speaker 2: excited because I think I think we're gonna be talking
- 20:33Speaker 2: about some playoff games steep in January. Yes, sir, but again,
- 20:38Speaker 2: that's a way in the future. We're gonna keep it
- 20:41Speaker 2: going week to week. The bye week. There's no game
- 20:43Speaker 2: coming up this week, so we'll be back with you
- 20:44Speaker 2: next week. Previewing a primetime game on Sunday Night Football
- 20:48Speaker 2: against the Washington Commanders. Again, the Seahawks get it done
- 20:51Speaker 2: on Monday Night football against Houston Texans. He's Michael Bumps
- 20:54Speaker 2: on NASA. Choby. This has been hopked off.
