Transcript
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, Welcome to you girls gone Hallmark. I'm Megan,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'm Wendy, and today we are discussing Noel next Door,
- 0:21Speaker 1: the very first movie in Hallmarks count Down to Christmas
- 0:26Speaker 1: Marathon marathon.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It's gonna be a marathon, don't dun't. Megan suggested that
- 0:32Speaker 2: we make a Rockie type video prepping for all of
- 0:35Speaker 2: our count down to Christmas kind of watching and reviewing.
- 0:39Speaker 2: So this is technically a bonus review to what we
- 0:41Speaker 2: had planned to review.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I think it's just because, like I was some peer
- 0:47Speaker 2: pressure from our Facebook group. Not that they said, like,
- 0:50Speaker 2: you guys need to review this, they just everybody was
- 0:52Speaker 2: talking about how good it was, and I was like, well,
- 0:54Speaker 2: wait a minute, now I got to go back and
- 0:55Speaker 2: watch it. And then I watched it and I was like,
- 0:57Speaker 2: I spoiler alert. I really like this movie. Let's review it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So Megan's like, oh, should we do too.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, now that you've watched it, let's review it. Well,
- 1:04Speaker 1: I watched. Watching is the hard part for us time wise?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Time wise?
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yes, yes, but I watched all four. We're not going
- 1:13Speaker 2: to review all four though, No, have you watched all
- 1:17Speaker 2: I've watched three. I was the three that you watch.
- 1:21Speaker 1: What's your favorite? We Wish You a Married Christmas is
- 1:23Speaker 1: my favorite of the three that I've watched. We have
- 1:27Speaker 1: yet to watch We Need a Little Christmas. We will
- 1:29Speaker 1: watch it actually before this episode airs. But I think
- 1:32Speaker 1: it was a strong start and I will I will
- 1:34Speaker 1: tell you right now. This movie was not one that
- 1:36Speaker 1: I was looking forward to. It was not on my
- 1:38Speaker 1: radar as one to watch in excess of the ones
- 1:42Speaker 1: that we needed to watch. But as you said, our
- 1:46Speaker 1: Facebook group came in hot and said this was a
- 1:48Speaker 1: surprise success of the weekend. And I'm glad that we
- 1:53Speaker 1: watched it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah. If you think otherwise or want to join the bandwagon,
- 2:00Speaker 2: search Girls Gone Hamewark in Facebook groups, come join. I'll
- 2:03Speaker 2: leave a link in the show notes.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I love it there. Speaking of where to find
- 2:08Speaker 1: this outside of the podcast, Wendy has relaunched our Girls
- 2:11Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark Instagram. It is a brand new home for
- 2:15Speaker 1: all things Girls Gone Hallmark. We're really glad that you
- 2:18Speaker 1: found us in our new home. Thank you for finding
- 2:20Speaker 1: us over here. We'd love it if you would find
- 2:22Speaker 1: us on Instagram and follow along with everything Wendy is
- 2:25Speaker 1: doing over there. She is killing it. I appreciate that
- 2:30Speaker 1: it's hard. It is a lot of work.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's a lot. I say this to Mecca, who does
- 2:35Speaker 2: like all of our stuff, for our other for Megan
- 2:38Speaker 2: and Wendy stuff.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It is your doing. You're doing a great job. Hi five,
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hi five, Hi five. Let's do a quick Hallmark Channel
- 2:47Speaker 1: News and Notes check in. Yeah, so I took a
- 2:49Speaker 1: look into some of the reviews for this opening weekend. Okay,
- 2:53Speaker 1: all four opening weekend movies did fall short of their
- 2:57Speaker 1: viewership for twenty twenty one in terms of the first
- 3:02Speaker 1: three movies the first three nights. I'm shocked. However, let's
- 3:05Speaker 1: put it in context. So I think what's happening? And
- 3:08Speaker 1: I'm not me who just thinks this. This is you know,
- 3:11Speaker 1: everyone on Twitter who's talking about this is cable subscribership
- 3:15Speaker 1: is going down. There are fewer people available to watch
- 3:18Speaker 1: these movies. So, as sleep Kitty Posh says on Twitter,
- 3:23Speaker 1: she believes that Hallmark is still the biggest fish in
- 3:24Speaker 1: a shrinking pond. We Wish You Had Married Christmas still
- 3:28Speaker 1: did better than anything that wasn't sports. It was the
- 3:31Speaker 1: number one show that wasn't sports. Okay, and it's timeslot.
- 3:36Speaker 1: They're doing well in the areas in which they can compete.
- 3:39Speaker 1: If you compare numbers to numbers, it does look like
- 3:43Speaker 1: they're not doing as well. Again, this was October twenty fourth.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's pre Halloween. We're not even really into the Christmas season,
- 3:52Speaker 1: but it is something to think about. I do have
- 3:55Speaker 1: prior to countdown to Christmas. The top ten Hallmark Channel
- 4:01Speaker 1: debut movie rankings.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Okay, I have a guess what you like to guess?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Sure?
- 4:07Speaker 2: One, two, and three. It's gotta be the Wedding Veil.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You're almost right, oh, one, two and four. I believe
- 4:13Speaker 1: movie three would be a surprise to you. It's Butler's
- 4:16Speaker 1: in Love really Yeah, which we liked. Yeah, the Wedding
- 4:22Speaker 1: Veil and Veil did have a higher share of the
- 4:25Speaker 1: demo than Butler's and Love. They had fewer viewer Got
- 4:29Speaker 1: it all right? Let's talk about News and Notes for
- 4:32Speaker 1: Noel next Door. Let's do Oh? Okay, I forgot.
- 4:36Speaker 2: This follows a single mom as she gets into a
- 4:39Speaker 2: war of words with a neighbor who is ruining Christmas,
- 4:42Speaker 2: only to find that this misunderstood grouch just may steal
- 4:47Speaker 2: her heart.
- 4:47Speaker 1: HM News and Notes filmed in Ottawa on Harriot Canada,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and here's what I like. Actually during the winter.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Probably the biggest highlight for me. It's not I'm just
- 4:59Speaker 2: a that they filmed it during an actual cold season,
- 5:03Speaker 2: when there were snows.
- 5:04Speaker 1: See their breath. Loved it. It feels believable to me.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I love it when that happened. Sometimes that happens with
- 5:11Speaker 1: movies that are filmed late in the season. We sometimes
- 5:13Speaker 1: get that, but this was filmed last winter.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I watched a interview with director Max Maguire and he
- 5:20Speaker 2: said that was really funny. You're reminded me of Rick Dy's.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Do you Rick D's in the morning?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh my gosh, that's funny.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Anyway, in this interview, he said that he he shot
- 5:33Speaker 2: a lot of the movie overnight, so.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It would be like dark and really cold, and it
- 5:37Speaker 1: was really cold. I saw photos from We Wish You
- 5:41Speaker 1: a Married Christmas or like it's three am on set yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, man, that's a rough life,
- 5:48Speaker 1: could you imagine?
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's ten days, Like how hard could it
- 5:50Speaker 2: be for ten days when you got like and I.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Assume they're not they're like getting time off for in
- 5:55Speaker 1: the day. I'm sure.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Speaking of Max Maguire, he has twenty five directing credits
- 5:59Speaker 2: on IMDb. Lots of Lifetime esque.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Type movies and you know what I mean by that, right,
- 6:05Speaker 1: cheer leader who murdered my.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Mother and stuff like that. But he also directed The
- 6:09Speaker 2: Most Colorful Time of the Year, which is set to
- 6:12Speaker 2: premiere on Hallmark.
- 6:13Speaker 1: On December ninth. Indeed he did.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Do you remember that's the one about the color blind person? Yeah?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Okay. Keith hemp Street adapted this screenplay from a novel
- 6:22Speaker 1: which I'll talk about in a minute. He has three
- 6:25Speaker 1: writing credits that are all twenty twenty two Hallmark movies. Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 1: The Ghost of Christmas always the most colorful time of
- 6:33Speaker 1: the year, directed by Max Maguire and Noel next Door.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Of course, I mean he just churned him out this year,
- 6:39Speaker 1: really did.
- 6:40Speaker 2: How exciting to be a writer and be like, yo,
- 6:43Speaker 2: I got three movies and count down to Christmas this
- 6:45Speaker 2: year doing it and that's exciting.
- 6:48Speaker 1: As mentioned, this les based on the novel by Annabelle Acosta.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The book was called How the Grinch Stole My Heart.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Do you know anything about this book? Absolutely nothing. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: read a review that it was a little bit naughty
- 7:02Speaker 2: at the beginning, so you know, Hallmark adapted it as
- 7:07Speaker 2: fit for their demo. Yeah, yeah, anyway, And of course,
- 7:11Speaker 2: the original title of this movie was The Grin Shoe
- 7:13Speaker 2: Stole My Heart. Oh they were going to use that, Yes,
- 7:17Speaker 2: that title.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Hmmm.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Corey Sevier will also star in Lifetime's Christmas on Mistletoe
- 7:27Speaker 2: Lake on November tenth, as well as Christmas Plus one,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but I don't know when or where that will be airing.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I looked, I looked everywhere. I could not find it.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Well done, Cory Sevier. Three Christmas movies, remember, yes, a lot.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And of course Natalie holl and Corey Sevier started together
- 7:45Speaker 1: in Road Trip Romance earlier this year, and they both
- 7:50Speaker 1: had Fall movies this year.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I can't requalify liked the Road Trip Romance all. I
- 7:55Speaker 2: remembers they carried those ugly ass suitcases that had their
- 7:58Speaker 2: toys in it, pitching the toy ran.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I remember your you're disdain for the suitcase, Yes, but
- 8:04Speaker 1: I don't remember anything else other than they were like
- 8:06Speaker 1: former high school rivals.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And then they had a car broken down and to
- 8:10Speaker 2: drive across whatever.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I think. I think it was the middle of the road, enjoyable.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I didn't hate it, Okay, what's your first impression of
- 8:19Speaker 1: this movie. My first impression of this movie is that
- 8:22Speaker 1: the promotion failed. Hard of this movie. It was so
- 8:26Speaker 1: much better than I expected. Oh, I agree one thousand percent.
- 8:29Speaker 2: The sneak previews that they were showing, like in the
- 8:33Speaker 2: weeks leading up. Yeah, we're like the kid coming in
- 8:37Speaker 2: and being like he stole my ball, Like who cares?
- 8:40Speaker 1: Nobody cares about that? Like I go the scene where
- 8:43Speaker 1: he scares off the mean guy in the diner.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yes, oh my god, that was a great scene. I
- 8:48Speaker 2: thought that was great.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that scene stands alone, right, That like builds up
- 8:52Speaker 1: your hype and you root for this guy.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know promotion department needs unless I just
- 8:59Speaker 2: wasn't edited well early enough. Maybe maybe yeah, Or they're
- 9:05Speaker 2: like here here's ten seconds of this movie. Yeah, I agree,
- 9:07Speaker 2: I think the promotion failed. That's a great point.
- 9:10Speaker 1: My first impression is Corey Sevier yelling the equivalent of
- 9:12Speaker 1: get off my lawn and kills me. Let's talk about
- 9:19Speaker 1: what we liked.
- 9:20Speaker 2: About Noel next Door. All right, I got quite a few,
- 9:23Speaker 2: me too, go for it all right. First, I happened
- 9:27Speaker 2: to always love Natalie Hall movies.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I think she can come off like too cutesy. Uh huh.
- 9:36Speaker 2: So unfortunately, like that was one of the things why
- 9:41Speaker 2: I was like, I'm I'm really not interested in watching
- 9:43Speaker 2: this movie. Sure, but now I realize I think it
- 9:47Speaker 2: was maybe just the movie or the script, because I
- 9:49Speaker 2: thought she was fantastic in this I agree wholeheartedly. I said,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I think we've shed the Fit for a Prince shackles, right, Yes,
- 9:57Speaker 2: because For a Prince was an early on movie for
- 9:59Speaker 2: us that we're reviewed, and I was like, this is terrible.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It was not good, and unfortunately that is the original
- 10:06Speaker 1: impression I have of Natalie Hollan in my head. It
- 10:09Speaker 1: is part of the reason why we didn't and review
- 10:11Speaker 1: her Fall movie because we had these preconceived notions. I
- 10:16Speaker 1: one hundred percent agree with you. She's completely swayed me
- 10:19Speaker 1: in this role. Yes, Yeah, there's lots of little things
- 10:23Speaker 1: I liked about this movie go ahead. Loved the fake
- 10:25Speaker 1: Cereal branding. I felt like the props department must have
- 10:27Speaker 1: had so much fun with that. Although it was funny
- 10:32Speaker 1: that they're in the Cereal aisle and they're using fake
- 10:35Speaker 1: Cereal names, but they're using real Cereal taglines.
- 10:39Speaker 2: They're like it's great.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Cruise in flakes, It's great. Yeah. Anyway, that branding popped
- 10:45Speaker 1: for me. I just it gave me real like shopping
- 10:49Speaker 1: in my pretend grocery store vibes, which is the thing
- 10:52Speaker 1: that would have totally brought me joy of the child.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I loved that her date was kicked off of social
- 10:58Speaker 1: media for spreading this information was a flat earther. I
- 11:02Speaker 1: just was like, I think the writers had a great
- 11:04Speaker 1: time with this movie.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I think so too, because there was a lot of
- 11:07Speaker 2: like funny jokes. The tampon scene, yes, which was like
- 11:12Speaker 2: I know, I had seen a lot of like feedback
- 11:15Speaker 2: even in the IMDb reviews of this, like oh my god,
- 11:18Speaker 2: there was a tampon sceand I've never seen that before
- 11:20Speaker 2: in a Hallmark movie, and I just like, it's such
- 11:23Speaker 2: like a realistic thing for women. But it was just
- 11:25Speaker 2: so funny where she's like, yeah, it happens every month,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you know what happens.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yes. Look. One of the hills that I will die
- 11:32Speaker 1: on is removing the shame from periods, right. I feel
- 11:36Speaker 1: this strongly for my daughter because I grew up feeling
- 11:39Speaker 1: very ashamed, like don't let anybody ever see me buying
- 11:42Speaker 1: paths or see me carrying one or knowing that I
- 11:44Speaker 1: need one right now, Like that was horrifying to me. No,
- 11:46Speaker 1: periods are not shameful. Is it something that our bodies do.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Let's demystic by it, Like, yes, this is what happens
- 11:53Speaker 1: when we normalize these things in our movies. What's wrong?
- 11:56Speaker 2: I wish the writer of this movie is a man, right, yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So bravo. Yeah yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I was like, wait a minute, I was confused with
- 12:05Speaker 2: the last movie that we just reviewed, But yeah, a
- 12:08Speaker 2: man wrote this movie, so I can't appreciate that. So
- 12:11Speaker 2: I wasn't completely sure about Corey Sevier. I tru don't
- 12:17Speaker 2: doubt yourself every single time anyway. But I thought the
- 12:21Speaker 2: two of them like generated a lot of like flirtatious chemistry.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Like when they first show him, like come outside, I
- 12:28Speaker 2: was like, oh, he does look like a curmudgeon. Maybe
- 12:31Speaker 2: got better throughout the movie.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Their interactions together were always warm and lovely, Yes, exactly.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I loved the character of Noel. I thought she was
- 12:40Speaker 2: like so loving and so kind and so patient, just sweet.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I have a question though, for you. Previously we have
- 12:50Speaker 2: criticized Hallmark for not using actors that have real life
- 12:53Speaker 2: health conditions or impairments. What was the movie heart of
- 12:58Speaker 2: the matter? Anyway, I wanted to know, like, how you
- 13:01Speaker 2: feel about Corey Sevier, who is an able body actor
- 13:08Speaker 2: playing a person with a health condition.
- 13:11Speaker 1: You know, that's a good question. And I hadn't thought
- 13:13Speaker 1: about it and it didn't bother me in the watching.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And as I sit here, I'm trying to wonder if
- 13:18Speaker 1: it should have bothered me based on previous criticisms, I
- 13:24Speaker 1: don't have a good answer for how I feel about that.
- 13:26Speaker 1: It's okay, you don't have to have do you.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel the same way.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm like, well, I don't know how it's different from
- 13:34Speaker 1: previous criticism. It feels different, though, but I can't quantify why. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I hear you, Okay, I don't think like, oh yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: I should be coming for Homewark in this moment. No,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I understand, good point, all right.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I enjoyed the story because I thought it reflected real life.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Like I know a lot of people like to like
- 13:55Speaker 2: escape reality with their entertainment, but I like At Hallmark,
- 14:00Speaker 2: their opening movie for Countdown to Christmas had the following
- 14:04Speaker 2: divorce co parenting issues. A full time working parent an
- 14:09Speaker 2: impaired character and a new word that I learned, an
- 14:14Speaker 2: interabled relationship.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Oh look at that, I know, But.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Like, when do you see this stuff found out Mark movies?
- 14:22Speaker 1: I think those are great points.
- 14:23Speaker 2: We've been asking for Hallmark to be more inclusive, right
- 14:31Speaker 2: did they do that with this movie?
- 14:32Speaker 1: I think. I think steps are being taken. And to
- 14:36Speaker 1: me this still felt very escapist, very lighthearted. I don't
- 14:41Speaker 1: like stressful television for the most part. If I watch
- 14:45Speaker 1: a show that is stressful or suspenseful, I have to
- 14:49Speaker 1: watch a lot of other stuff to absorb that. Yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 1: and so I have a real strong radar for depressing
- 14:56Speaker 1: or stressful or down or this was not that for me.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I don't think real life isn't depressing, right, right, It's
- 15:04Speaker 1: not euphoria, no, right, oh my god.
- 15:08Speaker 2: No. So from that, these are things that I like.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Like we see Noel like struggling as a single parent
- 15:14Speaker 2: and wanting to give her son like the best Christmas
- 15:16Speaker 2: ever post divorce. We see Jeremy struggling as he tries
- 15:21Speaker 2: to date again and how difficult that must be, like
- 15:24Speaker 2: could you even imagine? And I liked that we got
- 15:29Speaker 2: a full understanding of why Jeremy doesn't like the holidays,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and how I felt very seen in this moment, how
- 15:35Speaker 2: significant he is in one's life can leave these like
- 15:39Speaker 2: scars on time, and so therefore you.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Just don't want to Yes, I very much thought about
- 15:44Speaker 1: your yes, did you?
- 15:47Speaker 2: And finally I love that it was actually filmed in
- 15:49Speaker 2: the wintertime.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yes. I have one last, very small, like it was
- 15:53Speaker 1: just a quick line. Noel tells Max to go to
- 15:56Speaker 1: bed and he's like, you know, having a hard time
- 15:58Speaker 1: falling asleep, and she's like, no more Murder podcast at
- 16:00Speaker 1: night and he goes. But they're just so addicting. I
- 16:05Speaker 1: have several wishes.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Oh, let me hear well.
- 16:08Speaker 1: First, I wish that Max didn't have a stepmom that
- 16:10Speaker 1: just wasn't that into him, right. I thought that was really.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Terrible, and I was like, why is the dad trying
- 16:16Speaker 2: so hard then to make them like such a family
- 16:18Speaker 2: unit if he felt like not welcomed to buy his
- 16:23Speaker 2: stepmother well.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And my next wish is that Max's dad didn't suck
- 16:28Speaker 1: so much, suggesting that his new family with his mistress
- 16:31Speaker 1: that he left his wife for was somehow superior to
- 16:34Speaker 1: Max spending Christmas with his mother. Uh is single because
- 16:39Speaker 1: you left her agreed agree.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I was like, what what a creed?
- 16:44Speaker 1: Technically or I don't think single motherhood is anything shameful,
- 16:46Speaker 1: regardless of the path to it. But I think people
- 16:49Speaker 1: in glass houses here, buddy, Yeah, what a dick. I
- 16:53Speaker 1: have a really big wish, Okay, I wish that I
- 16:55Speaker 1: could believe that these two could live next door to
- 16:58Speaker 1: each other and never run into each other. Yeah. I
- 17:00Speaker 1: think it is the one huge flaw in this movie
- 17:02Speaker 1: for me. Make him live around the corner, make him
- 17:05Speaker 1: live near the school, near the park where Max is,
- 17:08Speaker 1: if they want to have this. You know, Max and
- 17:12Speaker 1: Jeremy antagonism put him in their orbit in the neighborhood,
- 17:17Speaker 1: so it's still realistic that he could run into her
- 17:19Speaker 1: at the diner. Right, But you live next door and
- 17:23Speaker 1: you've never seen each other. Yeah, I don't buy it.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that you would recognize a good looking man, like.
- 17:30Speaker 1: If he lived across the street from me. She knew
- 17:33Speaker 1: the other neighbors, and they refer to him as mister
- 17:37Speaker 1: so and so all the time, Yes, which I think
- 17:40Speaker 1: lends this air of like serious curmudgeon dude to his
- 17:45Speaker 1: personality when they talk about him. But I just don't
- 17:49Speaker 1: buy the Oh my god, it's you. Yeah, when you're
- 17:52Speaker 1: literally next door.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I understand.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It was a big flaw, I think. So, yeah, did
- 18:00Speaker 1: you wish for anything? I did.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I wish that we knew we could have seen how
- 18:07Speaker 2: Jeremy got to his current state, Like show us some flashbacks.
- 18:12Speaker 2: They have him like meet his ex on the street
- 18:15Speaker 2: who now has a new baby, like, which was not
- 18:18Speaker 2: even like necessary. I thought, like, throw if he really
- 18:22Speaker 2: wants to think about his like past, not past life,
- 18:25Speaker 2: but life prior, just give us like a little bit
- 18:28Speaker 2: of a flashback scene how he was like very into
- 18:30Speaker 2: his music or whatever, you know, and then how this
- 18:33Speaker 2: big significant life change like changed all that.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I like, I don't know, just give us something. Yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They wanted us to know that he had been married before,
- 18:41Speaker 1: that he had had this life before. I felt like
- 18:44Speaker 1: that scene with his wife was so awkward. He doesn't
- 18:47Speaker 1: know that his ex wife is remarried with the baby already.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah, And there was something about the timing too. I
- 18:54Speaker 2: was going to go back and listen to this and
- 18:56Speaker 2: I forgot it had been two years. Yeah, so his
- 19:00Speaker 2: ex got married and had a baby pretty quickly.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and when you've been married to someone you
- 19:09Speaker 1: have people in your same word. Yeah, no one knew
- 19:13Speaker 1: that she was married. No one said, hey, you should
- 19:16Speaker 1: probably know this about her, so that if you bump
- 19:20Speaker 1: into her on the street in the same small city,
- 19:23Speaker 1: like she was such a jerk, Like if you leave
- 19:28Speaker 1: your husband because he has a stroke and is no
- 19:31Speaker 1: longer the same person and is kind of difficult because
- 19:34Speaker 1: he's having to relearn how to live his life in
- 19:37Speaker 1: a body that works it differently than he was used to.
- 19:39Speaker 1: First of all, I think you're kind of the asshole totally,
- 19:42Speaker 1: And also like, why are you now mad at him
- 19:44Speaker 1: because he was angry because his life changed drastically at
- 19:48Speaker 1: such a young age, Like, no, lady, Yes, double strikes
- 19:51Speaker 1: for you, double strikes.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Speaking of not nice people, Jeremy's.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Date, Oh my gosh. So, first of.
- 19:59Speaker 2: All, like you you're not Was it a blind date?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Yes?
- 20:05Speaker 2: And this person did not know anything about him, I
- 20:09Speaker 2: mean evidently not. Come on, and her reaction to him
- 20:12Speaker 2: was like she come, do people act.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Like that or reliah? First of all, I thought that
- 20:17Speaker 1: was overdone and I think they needed to sell how
- 20:21Speaker 1: miserable it was. She looks at his cane multiple times
- 20:25Speaker 1: upon him approaching there's like, if you watch her eyes,
- 20:27Speaker 1: she's like looking him up and down and up and down,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and then he struggles to take his jacket off, but
- 20:32Speaker 1: she's making a scene a scene.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I was like, are you kidding me?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Why didn't you say, hey, can I help you with that?
- 20:38Speaker 1: And I thought that scene when Noel comes over drops
- 20:41Speaker 1: him with his jacket, Oh my god, was just so lovely.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I know, I know, I was like, oh, I love you.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I know. She was terrible, terrible, And what I wonder
- 20:53Speaker 1: is the people who were setting them up did they
- 20:55Speaker 1: not know that she was this shallow? I don't know.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So either you prepare her with information that you think
- 21:01Speaker 1: that she needs, or you don't set these two up
- 21:05Speaker 1: because this is on his friends. Yeah, totally, because that
- 21:09Speaker 1: was terrible.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, just the same way that like her sister was like,
- 21:12Speaker 2: oh sorry about that day that she's way up on.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly time for did you say that? Yeah? And
- 21:19Speaker 1: I only have a question, Okay, why did the cheating
- 21:23Speaker 1: ex husband get to keep the house? Oh?
- 21:26Speaker 2: I don't know, that's funny. Maybe she was like I'm
- 21:29Speaker 2: out of here, dude.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I mean she she even says like he's not giving
- 21:34Speaker 1: her any money and he's like, well, let's let's wait
- 21:35Speaker 1: for the courts to figure it out, because she's like,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I've been working hard to pay the bills. Not that
- 21:39Speaker 1: you would know anything about that because you haven't set
- 21:41Speaker 1: us any money. And he's like, well, let's just wait
- 21:43Speaker 1: for the attorneys to figure out. What a creep? What
- 21:46Speaker 1: a creep?
- 21:47Speaker 2: I did not catch any of that. I have just
- 21:52Speaker 2: a few one. Noel's name tag is spelled n E
- 21:58Speaker 2: l l E, but the movie is called Noel next
- 22:02Speaker 2: Door n E L Why do you think they did
- 22:05Speaker 2: it different like that?
- 22:07Speaker 1: That's a good question. On IMDb it is spelled n
- 22:10Speaker 1: O E l l E.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Also, I wonder if there's another movie called Noel next
- 22:15Speaker 2: Door with the e ll.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Perhaps that's perhaps sounds like a porn when you write
- 22:21Speaker 1: it like that. I'm sorry, I hope not, and nothing.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'm all right.
- 22:27Speaker 2: First of all, this is just a complaint. Really, our
- 22:32Speaker 2: kid was kind of an asshole.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 22:35Speaker 2: First of all, you don't kick your ball against somebody's
- 22:38Speaker 2: else that was.
- 22:40Speaker 1: His house, Yes, like you know better on your garage
- 22:44Speaker 1: kicking their soccer ball and you go out. I would
- 22:45Speaker 1: absolutely like get out of.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Here, absolutely, And then he can clearly see that his
- 22:53Speaker 2: name's Jeremy, right, he can clearly see that Jeremy is disabled.
- 22:57Speaker 2: And he throws a soccer ball at the man like
- 23:00Speaker 2: what a asshole?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yes, and then lies about it. All do is long
- 23:04Speaker 1: and she says, have you been kicking your soccer ball again?
- 23:06Speaker 2: No?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Mom, it's just me and me. Uh.
- 23:11Speaker 2: This is why I don't like children in movies.
- 23:13Speaker 1: He was a jerk. He did. He did have his redemption,
- 23:16Speaker 1: he did apologize, he did take it upon himself. I
- 23:19Speaker 1: was happy to see that. But this kid doubled down
- 23:22Speaker 1: over and over again about this neighbor being a jerk,
- 23:24Speaker 1: when I'm so sorry, the jerk is you. Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 2: The other thing is, as a former soccer parent, soccer
- 23:32Speaker 2: tryouts are usually like there's like a summer league and
- 23:36Speaker 2: a fall spring like over at this it's over, yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 2: And he's like trying out. But kick I mean kicking
- 23:43Speaker 2: your wall. That's a great like drill. But come on,
- 23:47Speaker 2: there's like three fu snow around my kid. Like there's
- 23:49Speaker 2: no park nearby or.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Like open space?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Right, do they live in downtown New York?
- 23:56Speaker 1: There's an indoor gym of some thing. Let's write the movie.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Okay, go Ahead.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Four point seven five stars. Oh my gosh, you rated
- 24:06Speaker 1: this higher than We wish you a Married Christmas. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: enjoyed it more you did.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I did.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought there.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I thought both movies the writing was really great and
- 24:16Speaker 2: the actors were really great in each movie. There was
- 24:19Speaker 2: something about this one that just gave it a slight edge.
- 24:23Speaker 1: That's so fascinating to me. Three point seven five Oh,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and that's a really high score for me. I think
- 24:30Speaker 1: that's still a good movie. I think I'm still nervous
- 24:33Speaker 1: about the number of movies to come, and I guess
- 24:35Speaker 1: there's no reason why they can't all be four and
- 24:37Speaker 1: five star movies. They're not gonna be, though, They're not
- 24:40Speaker 1: gonna be, and then I'm gonna regret giving this movie
- 24:43Speaker 1: a low rating when we get to a real estate.
- 24:45Speaker 2: That's what's really hard, is like rating these in real time,
- 24:49Speaker 2: because you can't go back and be like, oh, wait
- 24:51Speaker 2: a minute, this one was better than this one. And
- 24:55Speaker 2: we'll figure that out when our tournament bracket comes out,
- 24:57Speaker 2: right right.
